Okay the bridgerton break ups are killing me, can we please see how they back together cos I need some hea’s here
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, I get it, you convinced me, I should stop being lazy and finish the piece lol
First of all Kanthony gets back together the same way they do in the books. Kate has a car accident, the hospital calls him because he's still Kate's emergency contact, and Anthony runs, he doesn't even finish hearing the voicemail from the doctor, he just drops everything and races out. Kate turns out to only have a broken leg, but all the while Kate is getting her cast on Anthony is having the most major freak out of his life, because Kate could die! she could die! and he keeps repeating it to himself and Kate gets really worried about how he looks like he hasn't slept in ages. The next thing he knows, Anthony is hugging her, telling her he loves her so much, that he's been afraid of turning her into his mother who basically stopped functioning when his dad died because he was her world. But Anthony would rather live every day of his life loving Kate than waste another day without her. He lied to protect himself!! he does love her, he doesn't want to think of a world without Kate. And Kate decides to take him back, after he finally convinces her that all this time he did hear her her confession of love and did reciprocate her feelings, ever since they met, he was just lying about it. Anthony does do a 180 because he can't get over the fact that he could have lost Kate and she never would have known his feelings. Meanwhile Kate is pleasantly surprised at how much more free Anthony acts now that he's not lying to himself about loving her
Benophie, well, you guys probably already guessed it, Benedict makes a scene at Violet's birthday party, he gets into an argument with Araminta for harassing Sophie about the breakup and making it sound like it's all Sophie's fault, when he's the one who never deserved her. Finding out that Araminta and Sophie's dad sucked and that Sophie had a terrible home life. When Sophie thanks him for defending her like that, Benedict realizes that after knowing the terrible family Sophie came from, and hearing her talking with Roger about building her true family and raising kids with love and care, that his so called freedom means nothing compared to that. Because he's been trying to fill the void with meaningless hookups when all this time, he could be having something real and lasting with Sophie. the whole thing of having a nice house, doing chores. It suddenly hits him that building a future together with someone as brilliant as Sophie Beckett, sounds like a dream to him. So he apologizes to Sophie profoundly and goes all out to show her he's changed, he gets a permanent job at an art gallery, stops the random hookups, if he needs a date he only asks Sophie to go, and shows up alone to events if she says no. And when Araminta has her arrested on false theft charges, Bendict pays her entire bail out of his own savings, only asking her to give him another chance, this time, with the intention of getting married one day soon, if she'll have him. Sophie says that yes, she'll give him a chance, because she loves him, and eventually after a lot of persistence on Benedict's part, they do get back together.
Polin. I think these two got really angry at each other before the reconciliation, they both try to move on with their lives, but keep coming back to each other. Colin tricks Penelope into the 'we can still be friends right?' thingie that guys do when they're trying to change. But I think what does it for them is that in the dramatic moment when Colin doesn't run when he finds out that his ex, Penelope is the famous anonymous columnist LW. For the first time in the relationship he stays in England and faces her directly, because he's sick of running from his problems with Penelope. And he's sick of her expecting him to run. So he confronts her and they just have the big explosive angry argument they should have had before they broke up. Throwing blame, recriminations, hurt, every verbal weapon every bad memory, everything they hated or hid from each other fearing that their relationship wouldn't survive, they throw it there, out in the open. And then, by the end of the argument, both realize that they still love each other, that even trough all the dirty laundry they mutually aired, they both still think that the other is the best thing to happen to them, so Colin asks Penelope to be his girlfriend again, because he can't live without her, and if this is the worst they can do to each other, then they're going to be fine after all, so he will work hard to earn her trust, and since she also loves him, she agrees to try again. (Makeup sex was probably involved in this)
Philoise, well, that's just Eloise showing up in the middle of the night at Phillip's house, hugging the oversized stuffed animal Phillip got her for Christmas, during a thunderstorm, mumbling the most pathetic excuse, of being in the neighborhood, which basically boils down to a tearful 'Phillip I really really miss you' that just shoots Phillip's defenses to the ground. Because how can he not take her back when she's being so vulnerable and obviously in as much pain as him. He shows her that he built her a home office in his house, for her to use and she cries again, because of course he would, that's the type of idiot he is. Phillip is still angry at her for just breaking up with him without an explanation, but once Eloise does explain herself, and he has a chance of talking about his own trauma, they both agree that being single is terrible when you're inlove with someone this stubborn. The next day Oliver and Amanda find out Eloise is in the house and absolutely snitch on their father about what a pathetic downer he's been and how she needs to come back and 'fix him again'. So Eloise promises she's back with their dad, and here to stay. Although in this case, they do agree to take things slower (And by slower I mean Eloise will be proposing next week, because she saw Colin do it and it felt like a good idea)
Saphne, Ohh this one is the typical party girl x bad boy get back together, Daphne is partying hard till she drops for the third month straight, when Simon just can't take it anymore, because ofc Anthony was like 'Let Daphne make her own choices Simon' when Simon told Anthony to rein her in and watch out for her crazy celebrity friends. So Simon himself starts showing up at the events where Daphne is acting out, and just brining her home before she can be taken advantage of. Because for some reason he's now frequenting the bars she likes. At one point, he confronts her, tells her that she's better than this, Daphne tells him that so is he!. And they have a heart to heart, that brings them closer together. They decide to quit pretending they're okay, and do get back together after finally accepting that the other is not going to change and that relationships mean compromise, and it's not until Anthony has his first child a year later, that Simon revisits the children and marriage conversation with Daphne. Because after thinking about it for so long, he's ready to become a dad, not because Daphne wants to have kids, but rather because he finally healed enough to feel confident that he deserves to be loved and that he's not going to turn into his abusive father.
Franchel: Michael comes back from his travels, he admits defeat, he grovels, Francesca does not take him back, he spends way too long being Violet's plus one to family events just to get close to Fran again. Until literally half her family is begging Francesca to put him out of his misery and either honestly go no contact or take him back. She does finally take him back. But with much more healthier ground rules. (Oh who am I kidding, he seduced himself into forgiveness, because she sure was more forgiving after round 10 of seduction. That man has got a superpower only Francesca can tame. She was brave for holding him off for so long)
Hyacinth and Gareth did eventually find common ground after Sophie took Hyacinth out of the videogame room and made her see the underprivileged side of town so she could appreciate the privilege she was born into. Truthfully Hyacinth still the materialistic younger sibling all the Bridgertons love, but she does make an effort to help people who have less opportunities than her by participating in more activism, when Gareth sees that she's trying to be more sensitive to human issues that don't involve her personal self interest, he falls inlove with her again. Hyacinth asks him if they could start over and Gareth agrees, knowing that he was inmature too and that the best thing they can do is leave the past behind and get together under a fresh start.
Gregory and Lucy. Pretty sure they got back together because Haselby got sick of them and staged an intervention. Haselby made it look like Lucy was being blackmailed by a criminal and had Gregory think her life was in danger, when really it was just Lucy's creepy uncle locking her up at home and not letting her go to school because he found out her relationship with Haselby was a ruse. So Gregory bravely rode to the rescue, practically blew up the door to Lucy's house, and Lucy's bedroom where she was locked up by her uncle, and as an added bonus, Gregory had Lucy's uncle arrested for child neglect. Gregory also asked Simon and Daphne to pull some strings CPS and had Lucy placed with Anthony and Kate temporarily until she turned 18. Even after all this, Gregory was insecure about where he stood with Lucy, but once she was not restricted by her uncle and didn't have to fake her relationship with Haselby, Lucy was free to be honest with him and ask Gregory out for Prom herself, Gregory is obviously over the moon. Because she never stopped loving him and that's all he needs. And although Hermione Watson gets the title of Prom Queen, Gregory gives his own Prom King Crown to his beloved Lucy, because she may not be the diamond of the season for their fancy private school, but she is the Diamond of the season to him. (Bonus of their story is that they do get accepted into the same Ivy League College after graduation)
And that's the tea

'Brighter Future'
Fandom: Bridgerton Characters: Edwina Sharma Pairing: Edwina/Prince Friedrich Rating: G Words: 1.592 Summary: Edwina writing down her thoughts and feelings on meeting Prince Friedrich for the first time and how to move forward after the failed wedding. A/N: So I wanted to write something nice for Edwina because I’m currently working on two fanfics where I’m not really treating her that much better than the show did (she gets her happy ending but she’s still the victim of Anthony’s behaviour in those fics). And I had this idea for a short oneshot, consisting of three diary entries about her meeting Prince Friedrich for the first time. Hope you like it :)
[you can also read it on AO3]
Friday, June 3rd 1814
Tomorrow is a very exciting day – perhaps the most exciting one in a while. Her Majesty the Queen had informed me that her nephew, Prince Friedrich of Prussia, would be joining us in town for the remainder of the season. She had also told me that she could not wait for me to be introduced to him. It was not the first time that the Prince had been mentioned. Her Majesty had already let me know a while ago – after the whole disaster with the failed wedding – that her nephew was still looking for a bride. Which is also why I believe that his sudden visit was neither scheduled nor a coincidence. Perhaps, he had even decided to visit this town solely to meet me.
If that is true, I believe I should be thrilled. One does not meet a prince every day. Yet somehow, I worry. What if I do not meet his expectations? If my suspicion is correct, the Queen would have without doubt mentioned me to him, letting him know about the woman she had named the Diamond. Will I again be a disappointment to Her Majesty?
And it is not just the Queen who appears to be delighted about the news of her nephew’s arrival. Mother had mentioned the Prince as well, the smile bright on her face. And Kate had said that maybe soon I will be receiving the wedding and the husband I deserve. They are almost talking about it as if it was already set in stone, yet I had not even met him. What if he does not like me? What if no man will ever like me?
Lord Bridgerton and I might have decided to let everyone know that ending our engagement had been a mutual decision. We had been nothing but amicable towards one another in public. Yet people love creating their own version of events, and with him and Kate engaged to one another so soon after, there are more than enough stories to be created. Will the Prince believe the whole scenario to be odd as well?
I could tell myself that everyone just wants for me to be happy, but somehow, I doubt it. Mother wants me to be happy, I know that. Kate wants me to be happy as well, of course, yet I also know that she still feels guilty. I do not know Lord Bridgerton’s feelings – he had told me that he was sorry but he had also lied to me many times in the past. I do not doubt that both of them would prefer for me to find happiness, just so they do not have to feel any guilt in regard to their own happiness. And of course I want for them to be happy – the past cannot be changed. But I also cannot convince myself that their wish for my happiness is completely selfless.
And of course the Queen probably only hopes that she had not been mistaken in naming me her Diamond.
So all I can do now is hope that the Prince will like me. Still, I am nervous. I hope tomorrow will go well.
Saturday, June 4th 1814
I am delighted to write that today has been wonderful and that the Prince had been nothing but charming. A true gentleman and a delightful presence. He had given me the highest of compliments about my beauty and wisdom. And he is also a very handsome man. I had danced with him several times tonight and although I enjoyed it very much, I have to admit that I now feel somewhat odd.
Part of me would call him perfect – perfect in every aspect. A man I could imagine raising a family with, and a man I could imagine falling in love with. Yet another part of me is hesitant. Because it had not been too long ago when I had felt the same about a different man – a man that will now marry my sister.
I had never believed Lord Bridgerton to be disingenuous in his feelings. He had never told me that he loved me, yet his actions and words had made me believe that he was in love with me nonetheless. Looking back at that time now, perhaps I should have realised that his feelings were not what I had believed. Perhaps I should have even noticed that bond between him and my sister. But in the end, I had not noticed anything until the wedding. How do I know I might not be mistaken again? What if the Prince is just like him?
I had let Kate know my worries earlier, after she had asked me whether something was amiss. She had then told me that I should not let the past haunt my future, and had also apologised for her actions and secrecy again. I had told her in return that I have already forgiven her, but that forgiveness did not mean I could forget the past that easily.
And now I worry – I fear, even – that every single man will only ever remind me of the Viscount. That every time I talk to a man, my doubts will prevent me from accepting their honesty. And what would that mean for me? Will I ever marry? Will I ever be able to fall in love? Kate said that there is no need for me to marry this season if I needed more time. But will time help? Not just in regards to my confusion but also in regards to my prospects? What if the Prince proposes to me? Could I decline someone like him, just because I’m confused? Not to mention that I do like him quite a lot.
I cannot help but imagine what would have happened had I not noticed the feelings my sister holds for Lord Bridgerton. We would have married then. And perhaps, at some point, I would have realised that he had never loved me, and never would.
I had shared those thoughts with Kate as well and she had simply replied that – with her moving back to India – perhaps love could have grown between us. However, I believe that the possibility of that happening would have been very small. I had been a trophy for him, nothing more. Certainly not a wife to fall in love with. Kate had then urged me to talk to Lord Bridgerton about this but I do not believe that to be a good idea. With my confused feelings, I would only cause an argument. And that would not help ease any current tension. And it does not matter anymore. I can count myself lucky that it had never gone that far, and I know that I need to move forward. But for some reason, it is not as easy as I wish for it to be.
Tuesday, June 7th 1814
I had just shared a lovely conversation with the Prince. He had been as friendly and charming as before, and had told me that Lord Bridgerton had talked to him. Apparently, he had let him know the entire story, as well as my doubts. I had been angry at first – although, of course, I had not let the Prince know my anger. However, this was my problem to deal with, and people meddling within my life had caused this problem to begin with.
Nonetheless, the conversation with the Prince had been nice. He had reassured me that he understood my hesitation and had then told me that he would not consider proposing to me before he knew I was ready to make a genuine decision. I had been shocked to hear that – part of me is still in shock. I would have not believed that he was already considering to propose to me.
He had also told me how much he likes me – how pretty he thinks I am, how wise and smart, how well spoken and kind. He had said that he had never met anyone like me and that he had no issue with taking some time so we could get to know one another – that he did not need to marry now and was more than willing to wait for me. I’m afraid I had started to blush at his words, and even now, while writing this, there is still a smile on my face.
Kate had told me that Lord Bridgerton had believed the Prince to be an excellent match for his eldest sister. And apparently his requirements for his sister’s future husband had been very high and exacting. So perhaps, the Prince truly is an honourable and honest man. But maybe Kate was right as well. I do not need to marry right now. Perhaps, it is better to get to know the man that might become my husband. I had believed myself to be in love with Lord Bridgerton, and maybe I had been, but maybe I had also fooled myself to love him because I wanted to. And the Prince had offered to wait for me, after all. Either, he will decide to honour that promise, in which case I will know that he is the right man. Or he won’t, and at least then I won’t be married to him. And he is a prince, after all. He does not have to wait for any woman – certainly not a woman who had just been rejected by a viscount. If he waits, his feelings are genuine. And that thought surely makes the future appear brighter.

not to add my voice to the crowd begging for a version of insufferable from anthony's pov but that last hc/ficlet you posted was too adorable. we just want to see that dumbo piiiiiiiiine for kate! if it doesn't make us greedy little fic monsters, i think i speak for us all when i say we're down for more of that whenever you want to share!
Oh you wanna see Anthony pine for Kate? Girl, That boy has more pines that a Christmas tree farm. As he should! Katharine Grace Sheffield is a hell of a woman and she deserves someone to simp after her like a little puppy dog. Which brings me to an interesting point: Were Anthony a puppy, what kind of puppy would he be? My money is on Bernese Mountain dog. Looks huge an imposing but is, at heart, a people pleaser.
Anyway, I have stalled long enough. Y’all wanna see Anthony trying to work up the courage to ask Kate out?
Anthony had been fighting the urge to call Kate ever since he left her side last week. His thumb had hovered over the contact Kate Sheffield (Work) about a hundred different times but he hadn’t been able to force himself to go through with it. His mind had drifted to her constantly, how she’d looked when she’d woken up from her nightmare, tears in her eyes, in her voice, as she whispered secrets about herself. How her hand gripping his had felt so ridiculously right, how she’d wrapped her arms around him tightly, and he could feel her breathing steadily next to him. He just couldn’t stop thinking about her.
And then she’d looked so happy, so relieved, when Edwina had woken up that his own heart had let out a sigh of relief as well. Not only for a girl he’d known since she was barely an adult but for Kate to have been saved some pain as well. It was as though, in the matter of a week everything had shifted, everything in his life revolved around something, someone else. But he hadn’t called, because he couldn’t decide if the look of longing that he’d seen in her eyes as he’d left the hospital room had actually been there, or whether he’d just desperately wished she felt the same way he did. And besides, Kate had enough to worry about.
So instead of calling Kate he settled for the next best thing... bothering Lucy about whether she had spoken to Kate. Subtly of course, he wasn’t completely tactless. He’d sidled up to Lucy in the tea room and greeted her, casually. “Morning, Lucy.” And Lucy had glanced in his direction, giving him the unfortunate impression that she might know exactly what this was about for a split second before she smiled. “Good morning, Mr. Bridgerton.” Good start, something nonchalant should do. “Busy Day?” He said, his eyes trained on the magnets on the fridge. Lucy raised her eyebrows sceptically at him.  “Not really given that Kate’s... working from home.” She said slowly, a tiny little smirk starting on her lips. Anthony cleared his throat uncomfortably. “Oh so... You’ve... spoken to Kate?” Anthony said, making a feeble attempt at nonchalance as he dunked his teabag in his mug, almost too terrified to look at the woman beside him who was startlingly commanding for so young a person. He heard a little scoff and then a  “Yes, I’ve spoken to Kate.” Lucy snatched up her mug, her footstep retreating and then “And I’ve sent flowers to Edwina... From us all.” She tossed over her shoulder and Anthony felt a stab of gratitude towards Lucy Abernathy, even if she was uncomfortably astute.
Sadly, the rest of the week had progressed in a similar manner, only Lucy had taken to tutting  “No, I haven’t heard from Kate in the last 3 minutes!” whenever he passed her desk and looked hopefully at her. And yes, perhaps he had spent a little bit of time on the weekend looking at Kate’s instagram page, and been a little disappointed that there had only been a picture of Edwina’s cast, Kate’s handwriting, familiar from the vicious scribble his memos were usually returned with, sprawling across it. But now she was coming back, and it was ridiculous Anthony knew but his heart had been doing an odd little stutter all morning. And maybe he’d spent a little longer this morning selecting his tie and pocket square, and maybe he was lingering at reception a little longer than normally, exchanging pleasantries with Hermione, It wasn’t stalking if you had to be in the same office anyway right? And then  “Good morning, Kate!” Lucy’s voice called out and Anthony’s head had spun, abruptly cutting off whatever Hermione was saying.
And there she was. It was odd really, how you could look at the same person a hundred times and still your heart thundered away. She was smiling at Lucy, as they exchanged pleasantries, catching up on the week, The sunlight was leaking through the windows in the foyer and the sun was shining in her hair and her skin was glowing golden brown and her eyes were shining and God it was all he could do not to scream out I want to be your boyfriend!  Anthony cleared his throat, forced himself to stay calm Perhaps one date, first Anthony He hissed at himself and stepped forward.  “Good morning, Kate.” The softness in his own voice surprising him. And Kate seemed to still a little, turning towards him just slightly, her head tilting curiously her eyes cautious.
“Good morning, Anthony.” Her voice was soft as well, the same voice she’d used when she’d asked him to stay with her, When she’d been so close he could feel the warmth of her next to him. And now there was nothing but distance between them. He could feel Lucy’s eyes flicking curiously between them as silence swelled in the space. Anthony shifted uncomfortably though their gazes were still tangled together. “I umm, I hope Edwina’s recovering.” He said awkwardly, cursing himself, but Kate seemed not to notice, or perhaps she was feeling too awkward herself at the memory of what had passed between them in a hospital room.  “She is, yes. Thank you.” More silence, as she tucked a strand of her hair that had fallen over her eyes back. Anthony’s hands had twitched to do the same. The lift let out a soft ding and whatever had been building between them seemed to rush from the room as the doors open. Kate startled slightly.
“Well I better Umm...Lucy?” She said, gesturing into the office glancing around for her assistant as though she’d only just remembered she was there. Anthony had quite forgotten she was there himself. Lucy was biting back a smile as she breezed past Anthony further into the office  “I’m afraid I had to reschedule most of your meetings for this week so we’re in for a bit of a mammoth effort...” Lucy was already saying as she lead Kate away, no recognition of Anthony standing there, his heart in his hands desperately trying to thrust it into Kate’s. Just as Kate passed he heard himself whisper “Have a good Day, Kate.” And the look she’d had in her eyes when she looked at him over her shoulder just before she left the foyer would be, he was sure, branded into his mind forever.

“I put out an APB on Stiles, we have people looking for him. His car is still in the parking lot, which means...” Sheriff Stilinski paused, looking down as he took a deep breath.
“He’ll be okay, Mr.Stilinski,” you said softly.
“If any of you hear from him, let me know, please,” he begged.
You, Scott, and Isaac nodded your heads as he sighed, leaving.
“We’ll split up, we’ll all look for Stiles, okay?” Scott asked, opening up Stiles’ locker.
Holy shit, Erica and Boyd
“Oh my god, I forgot. Shit! Erica and Boyd are in trouble, I gotta go,” you remembered, your eyes widening.
“What? Where? What happened?” Scott asked, alarmed.
“They're in trouble. In the woods,” you debated whether or not to tell him it was Argent, before deciding not to.
“Okay, so we’ll go look for Stiles. We’ll call you, okay?” Isaac asked.
You nodded, waving to them both as you ran off.
---
You ran in the woods, alert of your surroundings as you looked around, looking for Erica and Boyd, looking for anything.
You walked further into the woods, feeling your hope die as you grew worried, unable to find them.
You sniffled softly as the wind blew, making you shiver.
You heard something snap as you paused, looking down. There was an arrow on the ground.
You picked it up, examining it, finding another one like it.
You looked at the initials engraved, as the tip of the arrow was silver. Silver, engraved. Argent.
You grabbed the arrow, running away, making your way to Argent’s house.
---
You rang your doorbell, banging your fists on the door.
Chris opened the door, giving you a blank look.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Explain this,” you held the arrows pieces, throwing them at his chest.
He looked away from you, exhaling.
“Where are they?” you asked him, clenching your jaw.
He ignored your question, walking into the house as you followed him.
“Stop walking away and tell me, now!” you yelled, yanking his arm.
“They’ll be okay if you give us Derek,” he said calmly.
“Are you joking?! What the hell happened to you? They’re all innocent, Chris. What the hell?!” you yelled.
He ignored your gaze, looking down.
“Look at me right fucking now!” you yelled, your eyes glowing purple.
“It wasn't my choice,” he began as you scoffed.
You paused, thinking back.
Arrow, it was an arrow
Argent never used an arrow, his weapon of choice was always a gun. Who uses arrows?
“Allison,” you gasped.
“I can't do anything about her, ever since Victoria died-” Argent started.
“What? Victoria’s dead? Oh my god,” you knew you would be lying if you pretended to sympathize.
She always made you uncomfortable, the two of you never got along to begin with. You felt bad for Argent.
“I’m sorry for your loss,” you said.
“Well, it doesn't matter now. I’m losing Allison to Gerard too now,” he rubbed his head.
“Chris, look what she’s doing. She’s hurt two innocent wolves,” you started.
“She’s a hunter, it happens!” he yelled.
“No, it doesn't happen! Chris, you see it but you don't want to admit it. Gerard is turning her into Kate. He’s using Victoria’s death and twisting her into someone else, someone she’s not. Someone like Kate,” you said.
“Kate and I were the same,” he started.
“No, you’re not. No matter what, you would never burn down the Hale house. You would never hurt a supernatural creature that didn't deserve it. You would never hurt me and Derek. You know Derek didn't kill Kate. His uncle did. Deep down you know something's wrong with all of this,” you said, looking up at him.
“You should go,” he said softly.
“Please, do the right thing,” you begged him.
You heard noises from the basement as you looked at the door.
Argent looked confused slightly, as you walked toward the door.
“(Y/N),” he said, walking behind you.
You ran down the stairs, your eyes going wide in shock as you saw Erica and Boyd tied up by their wrists, hanging from the ceiling, while Stiles laid on the floor.
“He’s human,” you said softly.
“He’s human! Open your eyes, Chris, see what’s happening!” you yelled at him as you ran to Stiles’ unconscious form, holding him up. He had a bruised lip and a cut on his cheek as you checked his pulse, making sure he was at least alive.
Erica let out a muffled cry, looking at you as her body was shaking.
“Intermissum,” you recited a spell, breaking off Erica and Boyd’s chains, as they both collapsed to the ground, pulling off their chains and the cut tape around their mouth.
You looked at Chris, glaring as he looked away, walking back upstairs.
Erica and Boyd immediately ran to you, wrapping their arms around you tightly as you hugged them back.
You kissed each of their foreheads, holding their hands.
“Are you okay?” you asked them.
They both nodded.
“Good, you guys need to leave. Go to the Hale house, okay?” you said, holding Stiles up.
“Thank you,” Erica sniffled.
You smiled softly, giving them both one last hug before they ran off.
Time to get Stiles home
---
You saw Stiles shuffle from the corner of your eyes, as he groaned, sitting up.
“Stiles, you okay?” you asked, pulling into the driveway.
“My head hurts,” he said softly.
“Here, I’ll help you in,” you walked to the other side of the car, opening the door for Stiles.
“I’m fine, I don’t need help. I just need to talk to my dad,” he hopped out of the car, standing in front of you.
“Are you sure?” you asked.
“Yeah, thanks,” he said.
“Of course. I’m gonna tell Scott that you’re okay,” you gave him a small smile as you sat back into your car, driving off.
---
“Yeah, Stiles is okay. He’s at home now,” you replied to Scott, as you drove in your car.
“Me and Isaac are going to the hospital. My mom said that there's something wrong with Jackson’s body,” Scott explained.
“What happened?” you asked.
“Uhm, can you meet us at the hospital?” Scott asked.
“Yeah, sure,” you took a quick U-Turn, driving to the hospital.
---
“Scott?” you ran into the hospital, seeing him.
“Yeah, my mom and Isaac are with Jackson,” Scott explained.
“Let's go,” you started walking forward as Scott linked his arm with yours, pulling you aside as you raised an eyebrow.
“What?” you asked.
“I have a plan. You can’t tell anyone, okay?” Scott started.
“What? What is it?” you asked.
“Okay, look. I smelt it on Gerard the first time I met him. He’s dying, (Y/N). That’s why he's doing this. He wants Derek so that Derek can turn him, not to avenge Kate. He wants to be a werewolf to save his life,” Scott explained while you stared at him in shock.
“How do you know? Gerard hates werewolves,” you said.
“I know, but I’ve been working with him… secretly. Sorry,” he said softly.
“Oh, it’s not a secret, kid. Derek knows. He’s the one who told me,” you shrugged.
“Oh… okay well I still need your help. You have to get Derek to bite Gerard,” Scott begged.
You gave him a blank expression.
“Did you take a lacrosse ball to your head?” you raised an eyebrow.
“I switched his pills. He’s filled with Mountain Ash,” Scott said.
“Scott, that’s genius. How the hell did you come up with that?” you laughed softly.
“I’m not an idiot, you know,” he replied.
“I never said you were! Okay, what do we have to do now?” you asked.
“Just don’t tell anyone. First, we need to get Jackson’s body out of here,” you walked to the morgue with Scott.
---
“Can you do a spell to slow him down from doing whatever he’s… doing?” Isaac asked as he and Scott carried Jackson’s body.
“I can try. There’s no guarantee. He might be immune like Matt was,” you explained.
“How was he immune?” Scott asked.
“I have no idea. Something called Hawthorn. I didn't know about it till that hunter used it at the rave,” you explained.
“Oh… well can you try?” Scott asked.
“Minuere,” you recited a spell softly, your eyes turning purple as you gasped slightly, feeling a shock go throughout your body.
“Crap,” you jumped back.
“What? What is it?” Isaac asked.
“Nothing, it should've worked. I don't know how long it’s gonna hold or what’s gonna happen next,” you replied, taking a deep breath as your body ached in pain. You ignored it.
“Let’s just get him out of here,” as the three of you walked to the parking lot, you saw bright headlights blind the three of you as you rolled your eyes, seeing a black van. Which always belonged to hunters.
Instead of seeing a hunter, you saw as Chris walked out of the car, looking at the three of you.
“Chris,” you stared at him.
“You were right. I’m losing her. And so are you,” he looked at Scott.
“Will you trust us to fix this?” Scott asked.
Chris nodded softly.
“So you’ll let us go?” Scott asked.
“No… my car’s faster,” you smiled softly, as Scott and Isaac three Jackson’s body into the backseat of Chris’ car, the four of you driving off.
---
“Where’s Peter?” you immediately asked Derek, as he stood in front of you, Isaac, Scott, and Chris.
“What is he doing here?” Derek glared at Chris, ignoring your question.
“He's helping us,” you said.
“I’m here for Jackson. Not you,” Chris said.
“Somehow I don’t find that very comforting,” Derek replied.
“Get him inside,” Derek motioned to the abandoned warehouse next to all of you.
---
“Where’s Peter?” you asked Derek again.
He looked at you, while you grew annoyed, staring back at him, still not replying.
He stood on top of Jackson's body, unzipping the bag.
“Whoa, what are you doing?” Scott gasped, looking cautiously at Derek.
“We were gonna save him,” Scott said.
“It’s too late for that!” Derek yelled.
“No! Stop, no we’re gonna save him. What the hell?” you yelled at Derek, your face dropping.
“What about...” Scott started.
“Think about it! Gerard controls him now! He’s turned Jackson into his own personal guard dog! Jackson’s just gonna get more powerful. Gerard’s planned this since the beginning,” Derek yelled, looking at you.
“No, Gerard wouldn't do that. If Jackson’s going rabid, then Gerard would put him down, not keep him,” Chris started.
“You’re right. Nothing that dangerous should be left alive,” you jumped as you saw Gerard walking to all of you.
You tensed up as you saw Derek’s claws in the air, as he tried to kill Jackson. Jackson opened his eyes, sticking his claws into Derek's chest as you gasped.
“No,” you gasped, running to Derek before Isaac grabbed your arm, holding you back.
You watched as Jackson threw Derek aside, jumping up.
You ducked quickly, hearing a slight whistling noise as an arrow flew into Isaac’s chest.
“Oh my god!” you exclaimed.
You saw as Allison stood behind Gerard. You clenched your jaw, helping Isaac up as he leaned on you, quickly taking him to safety.
Someone was definitely gonna die.
---
“Premere,” your eyes glew purple as Jackson hissed, in kanima form as he kneeled in front of you. You felt the blood drip from your bruised lip.
You felt yourself go slightly dizzy as you used your powers to hold Jackson.
You couldn't kill him, but that didn't mean you couldn't hurt him a little.
Shit! you tried to dodge the arrow Allison was shooting at you, but failed, crying out as it went into your thigh.
You continued to stand, focusing to keep your powers on Jackson.
You exhaled shakily, trying to keep your balance.
Allison shot another arrow, as you ducked down once again, missing it.
Your bit your lip as you took a deep breath.
This wasn't going to hold for long.
You stumbled backward before falling on your back as you groaned, your spell breaking as Jackson took off across the room, running to Derek.
Don’t do it, don't look down you ignored your thoughts as you looked down at the arrow sticking out of your thigh.
“Fuck,” you groaned.
Allison walked to you, holding two knives in her hand.
“Are you gonna kill me? Allison, what are you doing?” you asked softly.
She ignored you as she stood over you.
“I know that you’re in pain, I know your mom died, but that doesn't mean you have to kill your friends. That doesn't mean you have to be on Gerard’s side. He's trying to make you a bad person, you’re not a bad person,” you begged Allison, looking up at her.
“You don’t know anything. It’s all Derek’s fault that she’s dead. He bit her, Allison spat.
What?
“So does that mean you’re gonna kill Scott? You love him,” you said.
“Biggest mistake of my life. You don’t understand,” she said.
“All I know is that Gerard is crazy, there’s something wrong with him. He’s twisting your mind,” you said.
“You’re lying. My mom left me a letter-” she started.
“Was it your mom? Or did Gerard make you think that?” you asked.
“What are you talking about?” she asked.
“Gerard twists people’s thoughts all the time. How do you know he’s not lying about your mom?” Allison froze, as you looked into her eyes.
Her eyes went wide as Jackson’s claws wrapped around her neck, pulling her up as she struggled for air.
“(Y/N),” Derek ran to you, falling on his knees.
“I’m fine,” you winced, ignoring the arrow as you gripped onto Derek’s hands, pushing yourself up.
“What are you doing?!” Allison exclaimed, looking worriedly at Gerard.
“He's doing what he came here to do,” Scott said.
“Then you know,” Gerard said.
“What? What’s he talking about?” Allison asked shakily.
“He’s dying,” you answered.
“I am, I have been for a while now. Unfortunately, science doesn't have a cure for cancer yet. But the supernatural does,” Gerard looked at Derek.
You glanced at Scott, who nodded at you. Now or never.
“Derek, do you trust me?” you whispered.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Bite him,” you said.
“Are you insane?!” he whisper yelled.
“Do it, please,” you begged.
“No,” he said.
You looked at Allison, as she struggled to breathe, Jackson’s claws wrapped firmly around her neck.
“Impetu,” your eyes glew purple as you used your power on Derek, forcing him as Gerard smirked, pulling up his sleeve.
Derek growled, his eyes glowing red as he gave you a look.
His fangs stuck out of his mouth, as you used your magic to make him bite Gerard.
Derek fell to the ground as Gerard yelled out in pain, before laughing.
“Are you fucking crazy?! What the fuck?!” Derek yelled at you.
You reached for him, pulling him up before wincing slightly, your leg aching.
Gerard froze as he began coughing, black blood began spilling out of the bite. His body was rejecting it.
He shakily pulled out his container of pills, crushing them as he saw them filled with Mountain Ash.
“Mountain Ash,” he yelled, looking at Scott.
It worked
You laughed softly, around as everyone looked at you and Scott, confused.
“Scott had a plan,” you explained.
You saw the blood dripping out of Gerard as he fell to the ground.
Jackson released his grip on Allison as you quickly elbowed him before pulling Allison to you.
You kept your arms around her tightly, as she sniffled, burying her face in your neck.
Before Jackson could fight back, you heard a car screech as you saw Stiles’ car, driving quickly and running straight into Jackson.
“Yeah!” Stiles cheered before Jackson jumped on top of his car as he screamed, Lydia, sitting in the passenger's seat.
Stiles and Lydia quickly ran out of the car, as Lydia stood in front of Jackson, holding a key out.
Tears streamed down her face as she looked at Jackson.
Jackson stared at Lydia, before reverting back to himself, backing away from her. Derek and Peter ran to Jackson, sticking their claws into his chest as Lydia cried out. Lydia held Jackson as she cried shakily.
“Derek…” your leg was aching, blood dripping from your wound as you bit your lip tightly, holding back your pain.
They weren't supposed to kill him
“Do you still…” Jackson started.
“I do,” Lydia nodded, hugging him tightly as you saw Stiles’ face drop.
You felt your heart ache slightly for Stiles before Allison gasped.
“Shit! Y-Your leg, I’m so sorry!” she gasped.
“I’m fine,” you shook your head.
“There’s literally an arrow sticking out of your leg,” she scoffed.
It hurt like hell but you knew it would hurt more if you took the arrow out.
“What the...” you heard Stiles gasp as you turned back to Jackson and Lydia, your eyes going wide.
Jackson was alive, his eyes glew blue. He was a werewolf.
---
“How’s your leg?” Derek asked as you sat up in your bed, standing next to you.
“It’s fine,” you replied.
“So, you had a plan,” Derek smirked, crossing his arms.
“Yeah… I’m sorry I didn’t tell you...” you started.
He put his hands around your face, stroking your cheeks softly.
“I’m not mad at you,” he said.
“You should be,” you sighed.
“What's wrong, really?” Derek asked softly, sitting in front of you as he held your hand.
“Nothing’s wrong,” you said.
“Fine, but if something is wrong, you can tell me anything. You know that,” he said softly, kissing your hand.
“I know,” you replied softly.
“Can I ask you… about Victoria,” you started.
“I should've told you. She tried to kill Scott and me, I did it to save his life,” Derek said.
You nodded softly, before resting your head on his shoulder.
“Knock knock,” you heard an annoying voice walk into your apartment.
“Derek, I love you but I will kill him if he doesn't leave right now,” you glared at Peter.
“Really? No love? Even after everything?” Peter fake pouted.
“You mean after you hid? While we were all fighting for our lives? And then you attempted to kill Jackson? Don’t act like you're all high and mighty,” you rolled your eyes.
“Feisty,” Peter smirked.
“Get out,” Derek pointed to the door.
“Just thought you’d wanna know, your little wolves ran away,” Peter said.
“They left two days ago,” Derek said.
You tensed up, looking at him.
“You mean they’re not at your house?” you asked shakily.
“You saw them leave,” Derek turned to you.
“No, they… they should be there,” you stood up shakily.
“You’re injured,” Derek tensed up, holding your hand as you stood up.
“It’s fine. They're supposed to be there,” you said.
“Okay, fine, we’ll go there, just hold on,” Derek helped you to the door, closing it behind you.
---
Your eyes watered as you looked at the empty house.
“I… they’re supposed to be here,” your voice cracked.
“They left,” Derek said softly.
“No, I was at Argent’s house. They were there. I-I told them to come here. Where are they?” you raised your voice slightly.
“Maybe they just left, just breathe,” Derek put his hands on your shoulder as you noticed something on the front door.
You limped to the door, looking at it cautiously.
It wasn't a spiral, although it was similar.
“Why do you think Derek was in such a rush to build his pack? The alpha pack is coming for him,” Peter said.
“What if they took Erica and Boyd?” you asked shakily.
“It's not… no,” Derek started.
“It's my fault they’re gone. Oh my god,” you said shakily, tears streaming down your face.
“It’s not your fault. (Y/N), we’ll find them,” Derek said softly, stroking your face.
“They…” you froze, crying softly.
You gasped for air, feeling your chest tighten as you clenched your jaw, crying out shakily.
“(Y/N)?” Derek’s eyes went wide as he held onto you tightly.
You held his hand, tears in your eyes as you tried to breathe, your vision blurring.
“Can’t…” you tried to breathe, your face red as you cried.
“What is it?” Derek asked.
You cried loudly, while Derek shushed you, pulling you into his arms tightly.
“She’s having a panic attack,” you heard Peter’s voice from behind the two of you as you tried to hold back your cries, failing.
“Leave, now,” you heard Derek growl at Peter before he walked out of the house.
“Hey, shh, (Y/N), look at me. Breathe,” Derek put his hands on either side of your face as you took deep breaths, feeling your chest aching.
“They’re gone,” you cried out.
“No, it’s okay, (Y/N/N). They’re okay. We’ll find them,” Derek wrapped his arms around you, while you cried in pain, falling to the floor.
“We’ll find them, (Y/N). I promise you,” he pressed his lips to your forehead, caressing your back.
“We’ll find them, I promise.”

Re-watching Lizzie Mcguire: Episode 2.10 (Working Girl)
Tumblr media
Lizzie unintentionally breaking the fourth wall
- Have we already established the fact that Lizzie (not Hilary) is a really bad actress? She tries to butter her parents up by giving them compliments to get them to kindly raise her allowance. But of course, they are able to see right through her and give her a big fat NO. Lizzie is fuming!
Tumblr media
Poor Miranda!
- The natural thing for Lizzie to do after this is to then vent to her friends at the Digital Bean. Miranda spots a ‘busboy wanted’ sign in the distance and tries to tell Lizzie that she could get a job to pay for her things. Lizzie is too busy in her rant to even notice what she’s trying to tell her but for some strange reason, when Gordo points it out to her instead, she suddenly pays attention and hears him out. Weird.
- Anyways, Lizzie easily gets the job and her first day is tomorrow. She thinks it’s going to be a piece of cake. Don’t jinx it Lizzie...
- The next morning, Lizzie announces her new job to her parents and they are taken aback because they didn’t expect her to get one all of a sudden. They are also worried that she’s taking on too many responsibilities and there might be too much on her plate. I think it’s safe to say they’re probably right.
Lizzie Starts Her Job
Tumblr media
- We skip to Lizzie on her first day working at the Digital Bean and she quickly realizes there’s a lot to do as the new busboy. And it doesn’t help that her manager seems to be a total nightmare to work for. She’s so bossy! I would hate having a manager like her.
- And it doesn’t get better from then on because Lizzie is starting to get paranoid about her friends making even the smallest mess in the café because she has to be the one to clean up after them. But you know what, who could blame her? Especially when you have these two around:
Tumblr media
Can these two ever get a life?
- And unsurprisingly, Lizzie’s manager demands that she cleans up the spill when it’s so obvious that Kate and Claire were the ones who purposely caused it. Lizzie is now starting to feel regrets about taking this job.
Tumblr media
- The next day (which I’m assuming is a Saturday?), Sam notices Lizzie looking distraught about having to go to work and tells her she can always quit if she wants to. He also lets Lizzie know that she’s just a kid and the only responsibilities she should have is being a good student, a good friend and a good daughter. Now that’s really solid advice from Sam...and Jo (because she probably told him to convince Lizzie to quit)
Lizzie Quits After....3 Days?
Tumblr media
Lizzie’s better than me. I would’ve thrown that spoon right at his face lol
- During her shift that day, she’s dealing with a bunch of difficult customers, which, again, includes Kate and Claire. On top of that, her supervisor (whatever her name is) is just soooo not being understanding or thoughtful towards Lizzie.
Tumblr media
Also, if I were Lizzie, I would’ve popped Claire in her forehead and quit my job afterwards. Lizzie could’ve gotten really hurt thanks to her.
Tumblr media
That guy totally deserved that
- Lizzie has had enough and decides to give everyone who did her wrong a piece of her mind. I’m glad she manage to get that all out of her system but because of her rant, Lizzie gets fired from her role as busboy at the Digital Bean. But you know what? Good on her!
- After getting the pink slip, Lizzie comes home and tells her friends what just happened. She actually seems relieved that she doesn’t have to deal with the stress from her job anymore. Even just watching her work makes me feel stressed out.
B-Plot: Miranda Doesn’t Like Breaking Young Boy’s Hearts
- Matt is currently feeling down in the dumps because he thinks that Melina doesn’t want to be friends with him anymore. Well, more like doesn’t like him anymore. He expresses this to his friend, Reggie, whom I don’t think we’ve been introduced to beforehand.
Tumblr media
- It’s not so much that Melina doesn’t talk to him anymore. It’s more so that she hasn’t been getting Matt into any trouble recently. I mean, we all know that this weird relationship of theirs has pretty toxic tendencies. But she’s actually now focusing her attention on this other boy named Jared.
- Reggie suggests to Matt that he ask his sister, Lizzie for some advice as to why Melina has been treating him differently these days. Matt hesitates at first but he realizes that he really has no other choice.
Tumblr media
This made me laugh so much. Matt literally insinuated that Jo isn’t a girl. I mean, she is a woman but I’m sure his mom more than qualifies.
Tumblr media
- Matt then shows up at Lizzie’s job to tell her about his problem. But their conversation is cut short by Lizzie’s manager. She’s beginning to really annoy me.
Tumblr media
It also doesn’t help that Lizzie can be quite clumsy sometimes...
- While Lizzie is busy being a total mess at work, Matt is lucky enough to be able to ask Miranda for advice instead since she is, indeed a girl. Miranda basically tells him that it’s Melina’s problem and how she isn’t able to realize how great of a kid Matt is. She also had to add that there are others girls who would be so lucky to go out with him. See how this is going?
Tumblr media
Look at Matt’s face; He totally just misunderstood Miranda’s intention in everything she just told him lol
Tumblr media
And now he’s gone full-blown stalker mode. Yikes!
- The next day, Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo come home from school to chill at Lizzie’s place but Matt uses this opportunity to give Miranda a ‘thank-you’ card:
Tumblr media
Oh my word. Miranda better run for the hills hahahaha. Also, does the music have to be THAT dramatic when she opens his card? LOL
- It’s one thing to have crushes but Matt takes it to a whole other level. I get that he’s like 11/12 but still...
Tumblr media
He’s also now calling her and sending her a bunch of balloons with his and her face on them.
- On their three way call, Miranda is asking Gordo for his advice on how to gently turn Matt down. To my surprise, Miranda still doesn’t want to hurt Matt’s feelings and actually agrees to go on a bike-riding date with him. To be honest, if I were Miranda, it would also be hard for me to turn him down. I’m not exactly sure why. It must be the people pleaser in me...
Tumblr media
By the way, is it weird that I love Miranda’s outfit here? Very Avril Lavigne circa 2002.
Tumblr media
His smile...
- The next day, with Gordo’s support, Miranda tries to work up enough courage to reject Matt but before she could let it out, Melina marches into the living room  and confronts Miranda for ‘stealing her man’. Yikes, Miranda just got dissed by an 11 year old lmao.
Tumblr media
Melina just proved to all of us that she likes Matt back. That’s sweet...in a twisted kind of way.
- Oh and just like how Gordo pointed out, it’s quite embarrassing that Miranda just got dumped by Matt of all people. Again, poor Miranda...
Tumblr media
- There’s also one last surprise for Miranda. Apparently Matt had a cake made for her that Lizzie has taken out of the fridge. And because of that, she has no other choice but to act like a pig and eat the frosting of the cake with her bare hands just to prevent Lizzie from seeing what’s written on the cake. I would have done the same thing lol.
Overall Thoughts
- I found this episode to be one the funniest Lizzie Mcguire episodes so far. I felt like almost every scene either made me slightly chuckle or laugh out loud. From Lizzie’s short stint at the Digital Bean as a busboy to Matt’s sudden crush on Miranda, I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish.
- Honestly speaking, had Matt been able to dial down the craziness in terms of ‘pursuing’ someone just like he did with Miranda, he actually knows how to be a pretty romantic kid. No wonder Melina likes controlling being around him. And seeing her confronting Miranda like that and basically telling her that she’s just a rebound was hilarious to watch.
- Lizzie’s new job as the busboy was fascinating to watch because it’s the first time we see her working a job and taking on responsibilities outside the house and school. Even though she got fired, I can’t imagine anyone being able to put up with that bossy manager. Like if the busboy turnover rate is consistently high, surely that has something to do with the work environment and the people running the internet café, right? Or can they at least hire more busboys to spread out the workload? Solutions people!

Imagine:
The reader having an office fling with Erik/Work Hubby
Warnings: SMUT
It’s gonna be two parts because it’s really long and detailed to start. LIKE & REBLOG
Tumblr media
You wake up on a Monday morning after enjoying your short weekend to start another 9-5 workweek. Even though a part of you wished that you could work from home another part of you wanted to go into the office so you could see Erik. Your work boyfriend. On Saturday you got your hair done in some knotless box braids, went to the spa, and did a little bit of shopping for some new office attire. Today you decided to wear some of that office attire. Nude wrap skirt, a mauve colored wrap top with bell sleeves and some So Kate pumps in a nude color. Your boyfriend and Erik shared the same name but instead, your boyfriend’s name was spelled with a “C”, not a “K”. That boyfriend in question was a personal trainer and vlogger who traveled to try different restaurants mainly in Cali and NYC. He took a two week trip to NYC with a group of his guy friends. You were used to it and grew not to care so much about it. He was living his life to the fullest.
But were you living your life?
Working as a Secretary for an Environmental Technology company that makes billions of dollars gave excellent pay. The money is good but the only thing to look forward to is your gossiping friend Regina who sat in a cubicle directly next to you and Erik, the Lead Environmental Engineer who was also a Biomedical Engineer. He’s charming, witty, mesmerizing, attractive, hardworking, can be very headstrong at times, loves ramen, and has a cat named Paws. Erik with the “K” has you blushing whenever he locked eyes with you, stuttering while you both have random conversations during tea and coffee breaks, texted you funny memes during meetings when you were supposed to be taking notes, instant messages you from his cubicle computer to bug you saying things like:
-Wyd big head?
-Did Eric with the “C” see you leave the house today in that short ass skirt?
-Connie keeps talking to me with her funky ass breath. Help me 🥺.
-So, when are you going to boss up and get an office? I wanna be next to my work bae.
-You wanna get lunch together? My treat. It’s a surprise.
-I know you and Regina are gossiping about me 😌.
-I missed you after work yesterday.
He’s also the reason why you stayed later on Wednesday and Thursday nights. You would help him brainstorm ideas about improving pollution and what he should say in his speech about global issues such as climate change. He even asked you if you wanted to come with him to Alaska to test the water there but you hadn’t given him an answer yet. You really really wanted to but being alone with Erik wasn’t such a good idea. You were afraid to be in another location besides LA with him for reasons you’d rather not admit to.
After making Erik and yourself an egg white and veggie omelet with a Belgian waffle you headed out the door and to your Prius. Arriving at the office on time, you badge in and take the lobby elevators up to the fifth floor. Stepping off of the crowded elevator, you walk towards the newly decorated staff lounge to put away the food. It was 8:25 am and Erik wouldn’t be in for another ten to fifteen minutes. The lounge had Dunkin Donuts laid out and freshly brewed coffee. You fought the temptation of grabbing a chocolate glazed donut to go to your cubicle and boot your Mac desktop computer so you could check your company email. You said Goodmorning as you walked by. Regina was playing Candy Crush on her cell when you arrived.
“Goodmorning, Gina.” You placed your Chanel bag behind the desktop computer in your cubicle.
“Morning, sis,” Regina tapped away on her phone, “Did you sleep okay?”
“Better this time around, yes,” You flipped your box braids over your shoulder while leaning back in your office chair to talk to Regina, “I haven’t heard from Eric all weekend.”
“Which one?”
You pursed your lips, “You know which one.”
She laughs, “Erik with the C. What’s up with that?”
You shrug, “Don’t know and don’t care. He acts like he can’t answer my calls or texts so I can check up on him so I’ll act like he doesn’t exist.”
Regina gave you a knowing look, “I’m sure you and Erik with the K, aka Captain Planet, texted his work bae, Miss Y/N, all weekend long.”
You bite your bottom lip to fight a goofy smile.
“See,” Regina crosses her dark chocolate legs, “he’s not just your work bae. He’s Daddy.”
“Stop!” You throw a pen at her chest, before lowering your voice, “Erik and I are not having sex, Gina. We may flirt and text outside of work-“
“And during work hours,” Regina interjected.
“Like I said, we are not having sex-“
“Who’s not having sex?”
Regina and your head turned to stare up at Erik Stevens. He had his briefcase in one hand and a black coffee with extra brown sugar in his other hand. Tailored suit colored navy blue with gold cuff links. Burberry dress shoes on his feet. Vintage gold-plated oval eyeglasses over his onyx eyes. He gave Regina and you a teasing smile. The smile where he raised one corner of his mouth to reveal a single deep dimple.
“Y/N,” Regina answered with wide playful eyes.
“Oh?” Erik gave Y/N a mournful look, “Damn, ma. That’s too bad.”
You glare at them both, “I will ignore both of y’all the rest of the day if you keep fucking with me.”
You got up from your seat, pushing in your chair, and tried your best to ignore the snickering from them both. Walking away, Erik was right on your tail, his hand reaching out to grab your shoulder to stop you.
“Calm down, it’s all jokes,” he licks his full lips, “But seriously...no sex between you and your man?”
Groaning, you walk into the lounge to grab the food.
“Why are we having this conversation?”
“Because I’m concerned,” Erik turned his back to lean against the counter with his arms folded over his chest, “You know you can talk to me, right?”
You place his food inside the microwave to heat, “I know. It’s just embarrassing, Erik.”
Erik grabs your chin to make you stare at him instead of the microwave, “Don’t even give me that excuse. Remember, we shared a lot of embarrassing stories in this office after hours.”
How could you forget?
“Yeah...it’s boring, Erik. I’m sure you’re having the best sex of your life in your fancy penthouse. Probably having orgies with models and actresses. They love a sweet and caring guy,” Y/N said sarcastically.
Erik’s tongue grazes the inside of his cheek to stop himself from smiling, “Why orgies specifically?”
“Is that all you focused on?!!” You shove him before taking his food out, “gosh, I hate you.”
Erik takes a swig of his coffee, “which is girl code for gosh, I love you,”
You shook your head with a grin, “leave me alone.”
“Which means, give me attention,” Erik grabs both of your shoulders, before bringing his head around to plant a kiss on your cheek, “I know y’all female dictionary like the back of my hand.”
Your head turned to face him after his lips caressed your cheek. Now, that area was warm and ticklish. Erik grabs his food and walks over to one of the tables. That gave you some time to breathe and heat your food as a distraction. Why did he have to kiss you? It’s not like he’s never done it before but every time he did it, Erik made you melt and wish it were your lips instead.
“You make some bomb food, girl. I think I’m jealous of Eric with a C.”
“Says the guy who makes the best shrimp and grits I have ever tasted besides my grandma,” you take a seat in front of him. While you ate you watched him cut into his waffle covered in syrup. His long lashes curled each time he blinked and his lips were so pouty and kissable whenever he concentrates the way he does. You felt like a schoolgirl watching him eat.
“So,” Erik chews his food some more before talking, “Alaska.”
“What about it?” You play it off by cutting your omelet up.
“Y/N,” Erik raised his brow at you, “You know about Alaska this is my fourth time bringing it up.”
“When is it?”
“In a month,” Erik takes a swig of his coffee to wash down his food before leaning forward on his elbows to make you look at him, “it’s gonna be for a week, all paid for, a mini-vacay with skiing, Matanuska Glacier walk, and lunch, helicopter tour, cozy cabin...”
Erik tilted his head at you and smiled. You looked down at your food bashfully. It all sounded so tempting. You would love to go...
“I don’t know, Erik,” you shake your head, “Eric will be home and-“
“How many trips does he take leaving you home?”
“More than I can count,” you reply shamefully.
“Exactly. I ain’t tryna overstep but...” Erik left it at that and went back to his food. You slouch in your chair deep in thought. Erik has a point. Your boyfriend traveled whenever he pleased and didn’t even ask how you felt about it once. You respected that he wanted to drop his career as a teacher to travel, eat, and vlog. Not once did he suggest taking you on one of his food journeys. You honestly felt left out.
You deserve some fun too.
Moving your food around with your fork, you finally come to a decision.
“I’ll go.” You spoke softly as if you couldn’t believe you’d just agreed to it.
“Seriously?” Erik asked with his eyes unblinking and on yours.
“Yes,” you let out a breath, “I’ll go to Alaska and have some fun for once. I haven’t been out of town in so long it’ll feel good to go.”
Alaska with Erik Stevens. For an entire week. Just you and him. Your knees shook under the table.
“See,” he smirked while stabbing a piece of omelet with his fork, “It’s crazy how I had to ask your ass four times total to come with me.”
“Why is that crazy?” You asked with a laugh.
“Because it never takes a woman this long to say yes to me,” he says in a very boastful manner.
“I’m not your woman though,” you say before you could even stop yourself.
“You are my woman,” Erik rested his tongue on his upper lip before grinning, “just at work and without the sex, kissing, taking showers together-“
“Okay, you made your point, boyfriend.” You stop him before he continued.
“Does Eric know about me?”
“A little,” you look towards the ceiling, “ he’d probably cancel all his travel plans if he knew how you looked.”
Erik bit into his bottom lip, “how do I look, Y/N?”
“Fine as hell,” you giggle as if you were drunk, “He already thinks he’s the finest thing walking.”
“That’s your man though,” Erik chuckles, “You think he’s fine, right?”
“I mean, yeah, of course.”
Both of you laugh.
“I swear,” you wave him away, “you play too much.”
“Don’t make me steal you away from him.” Erik laughed. His laugh made your stomach do summer salts.
“Okay, Erik,” you speak in a dismissive tone.
“I mean, I could though.”
“Why do you insist on playing?! If I was single-“
“You would be mine,” Erik finished.
“You can have any woman you want. Why me?”
Erik scanned your body at that table, “Really? What you mean? Have you seen yourself, ma?”
“Stop,” you giggle. He can’t be serious. Erik is a flirt but why on earth would he play like this?
“You always think a nigga playing when I say that shit.” He sounded offended. You didn’t have a reply for that. Avoiding his intense eyes you finished your food while Erik closed his empty container and placed it on the counter next to the thermal lunch bag you brought the food in.
“Aight let me get to my desk,” he grabs his coffee and walked up towards you. Erik moves your box braids from your shoulder before grabbing the back of your neck gently. The feel of his smooth fingertips on your skin made the hairs on the back of your neck and arms rise.
“I’ll see you later, babe.”
You blush with a mouth full of food, “Okay, I’ll see you later too, baby.”
His fingers left your neck and combed through your box braids before he walked away and out of the lounge. You were so preoccupied with his fingers on the back of your neck and in your hair that you lost your appetite.
——
You stood at Regina’s cubicle halfway listening to her speak and the other half focusing on Erik in his office. He looked bored as hell. Your eyes watched him ball up random printer paper from his fax machine to shoot into his document waste basketball hoop that he had in the corner near the door. He made it perfectly every time. Erik had the coolest office out of all the other Environmental Engineers. Besides the typical Newton’s Cradle pendulum balls that’s a famous desk accessory, he had a tropical tabletop fountain, stress relief visual illusion toys, stainless steel pin art hand mold, darts, a Rubik’s cube, Nintendo switch, and many other cool and fun shit.
“Girl,” Regina said chewing on a granola bar, “You’re not even paying attention to me.”
“I am,” You allow your eyes to fall on her accusatory ones, “I’m just...looking around.”
“No,” Regina puts up a hand to stop you, “You’re looking at Erik.”
Both Regina and yourself look over at him, spotting Erik walking back and forth now with his suit jacket removed and the sleeves of his white dress shirt rolled up. He was finger juggling a pen with his right hand while speaking into a Bluetooth in his ear.
“You might as well let him ruin you, Y/N,” Regina says with a whisper.
“Oh my God, Gina,” you stomp across the carpeted floor in your pumps before taking your seat again to finish organizing in Microsoft Excel.
“He could flirt with any other woman in here. Connie, Demetria, Anita, Nicole, any of those chicks, but he chooses you. Why is that, Y/N?”
“I don’t know, Gina, enlighten me,” You roll your eyes.
“No need. You already know. Erik is feeling you, heavy baby. Heavy like that ass in that skirt that we both know you purposefully wore today to make him look.”
“OKAY.” You stop her with an abrupt tone, “Fine. Yes, Gina. Yes, I know Erik is feeling me. But I am in a relationship and I can’t just-“
“Heffa, please,” Regina laughs, “don’t even try that shit with me. You are feeling him just the same. You and Eric with the C don’t even exist when you walk in here. It’s obvious you don’t want to be with that man anymore and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is fucking some chick in NYC and secretly taking her on his little food quests. You can look at me like that all you want but deep down you know I’m speaking facts.”
“Gina,” you speak with a warning, “I will throw this stapler at your head next.”
“Won’t. Change. The. Truth,” Regina flips her long ponytail.
A part of you did believe that Eric was cheating on you. It was so obvious at times but you didn’t want it to come to that. You and Eric have been together for about five years. But then again, that shit doesn’t matter. If it did, he would be worried about fixing the relationship instead of traveling for views.
Ping Ping
-Here comes Connie. Let me take a big gulp of air before she walks in here.
Erik instant messaged you. You snicker like a child doing some sneaky shit. He was so damn goofy.
-Damn. Why don’t you just offer her some gum?
-If I do that she’ll know I think her breath stink.
-Just play it cool. Have some sitting out, grab a piece, and offer her a stick. It’s that simple.
-she talks too damn much. Just talk to me about the Alaska job so I can be prepared. That’s why I’m glad you’re coming with me.
You looked up over your cubicle to watch Connie talking animatedly while Erik swivels in his chair from side to side.
Catch my eye.
Onyx met chestnut.
Erik covered his mouth with his fist to hold in his laughter before placing his hand up at Connie, from what it looked like, to reassure her that he wasn’t laughing at what she’d said.
-want me to drag her out of there by that takky blouse?
-Why are you such a gangsta, girl? LOL aight, come handle my light work, ma
-not before I get a hospital mask so I don’t breathe in her toxic fumes. Llab
-😂😂😂😂😂 straight stupid.
You snicker again.
“What is so damn funny?” Regina peered over at you with curious eyes.
“Just IM with Erik,” you bite the gel acrylic on your thumb nail to smother your giggles, “He can’t stand Connie.”
“Mhm,” Regina smiles, “y’all so damn cute just get married already.”
-she’s gone 😁
-let's celebrate lol.
Erik sends fireworks through the IM. You send balloons.
-enough about her. I see you 👀
-what’s that?
-you showing off. That attire is hella tight. What you doing with all of that?
-nothing. Lol, why do I have to be doing something?
-I know you wore that for my eyes only. I feel special.
Your fingers hovered over the keyboard. He was going down that lane. You weren’t prepared but still, you typed away.
-I figured you would appreciate it since my man wasn’t home to admire it before I left.
-Yo’ nigga got some screws loose because I wouldn’t be away letting my girl walk out the house like that.
-like what?
-with all that ass sitting in that skirt.
-can’t help that I have a lot to work with.
-ain’t no problem for me. If you were fucking with me Y/N I’d make you forget your name. Real talk.
You crossed your legs under the desk and rubbed the back of your neck. If he fucking bitches to make them forget their identities then that means his dick really ain’t nothing to play with.
-nothing to say huh?
-I’m just thinking.
-about what? Talk to me.
-why you really want me to come to Alaska with you.
-😌
-well? You’re gonna tell me why?
-Because I want you to myself.
-So I can show you something you’ve been missing.
-Eric ain’t putting it down on my work bae like he should be.
You were so damn nervous. Day by day Erik would grow more frustrated with Eric and your situation. Like Regina said, just let Erik ruin you. It’s a shame to say that you haven’t had sex in about a month. It was just you, your fingers, and your favorite vibrator. It could be Erik, his fingers, his dick, his mouth, and multiple orgasms.
-He’s not. It’s been too long. ☹️
-You ain’t gotta tell me how long. I can see it in your body language.
You twirl a braid in your hand. Looking away from your computer, you try to be discreet, bringing your eyes to peer over the top of your cubicle into Erik’s office. He was drinking a bottle of water while his eyes concentrated on the computer screen with knitted brows. He placed his bottle on the desk and leaned in, typing again.
Ping ping
-Don’t ignore me before I walk over there.
-ooooo I’m scared.
-Aight, bet. I’m coming.
-I want you to think long and hard about that, Stevens.
You were flustered, wet, shaken up that he wanted to “show you” what you’ve been missing, and willing to risk it all if he left his office space to come to talk to you.
-that’s what she said. 😈
You chuckle. He could turn any topic into sex.
“Hey, Erik,”
You look up to find him standing next to your cubicle while Regina looked at the both of you with interest. You stand from your seat, ready to get yourself some water but Erik has your shoulders.
“Where you going?” His husky voice tickled your ear.
“For some water.”
Erik starts massaging your shoulders lightly.
“Can I come with you? I need to stretch my legs.”
“Whatever, I don’t care.” You lead the way.
But you did care. You wondered what he was up to. Now that you walked ahead of him with that very tight wrap skirt on you felt exposed like he has x-ray vision and can see your phat dimpled cheeks bounce and sway. Thank God for an empty lounge. You walk over to the fountain, grabbing a cup, and Erik was right on your side, holding the tap down for you. Your cheeks poke out to hide your blush.
“Thank you,” you speak softly. His eyes were intent on you. Not once did you give in and look his way while drinking that ice-cold water. Suddenly unable to breathe you back up a little to make some space between you two. Erik followed with his hands in the pockets of his slacks.
“Don’t you have a ton of work to do?” You ask to try and divert the attention away from you. Too late. Erik was determined to make you weak in front of him.
“I do but we have a long day, ma. I’ll get it done. I just couldn’t stand being away from my work bae.”
You rub your fingers along the wet cup, “I’m convinced now that you only come to work to be near me.”
“I’m cool with that,” He shrugs, “I could be a whole lot of things if it wasn’t for your man who’s supposed to be home with you.”
“He’ll be back-“
“And then he’ll be gone again,” Erik let’s out a sigh, “We’re playing too many games, Y/N. I’m tired of the flirting back and forth when I know you really want me. Stop coming in here to impress me with these bomb-ass outfits. I’ve been impressed for over a year now.”
Erik closed the space between you both, pressing his chest against your fuller one. You look over his shoulder to make sure no one was coming and when the coast was clear you focused your heated gaze on him.
“I’m tryna undress you with my fucking hands, not my eyes.” Erik takes his fingers to play with the bow of your wrap skirt, “You feel what I’m saying?”
You couldn’t speak. Your eyes were to busy admiring this gorgeous man who wanted to fuck you. His inviting eyes saw exactly what you wanted. A long, hard, fuck. Taking his fingers, Erik grabs your chin delicately to stroke. He made you feel so precious and desired.
“So, can I do that?” Erik asked with his lips kissing along your jawline. Your eyes landed on the door to check it and still, no one was there.
“Can I take care of you, ma?”
Yes.
You had this look in your eyes, this look that said, please, Daddy, come fuck me. He smelled so damn good. So invigorating and moisturizing. You could make out a hint of exotic arabica coffee and coconut oil on the skin of his neck.
“No,” you lick your upper lip, “No, you can’t.”
His lips found yours. He swallowed that no with his full lips and tongue. Both of you knew that your answer was disbelieving when your hands came up to wrap around his neck. That was a green light for Erik. His hands came around your waist, and then down to cup your ass. He would alternate between rubbing your spine and making your cheeks bounce in his hands. Erik rests his chin on your shoulder so he could peer behind you to watch his hands squeezing all that ass on you. He would let it go and watch it bounce before slapping it lightly so he wouldn’t make a lot of noise. You felt your heart in your throat. Now, his crotch was pressed into yours. Long and hard indeed. Let’s not forget thick.
“You free tonight?” He whispered in your ear.
“Yeah,” you could feel him lifting you from the floor to sit your bottom on the counter. He was between your legs while your hands reach for his tie to tug on. It distracted you from being so nervous. His hands rested on your exposed upper thighs rubbing your warm skin in slow circles to sooth you. All he was doing was killing you. His touch was so soft and gentle but under all of that was a rough dominating grasp that you yearned for
You weren’t sure which throbbing you wanted to quiet more—the throbbing between your legs or the throbbing from your heartbeat against your chest. All those daydreams about rubbing your swollen pussy lips all over Erik’s face until you came. Now that the both of you crossed yet another line——the touching and kissing line, there was no telling what would happen next. Sex after hours in the office on his desk? Walks to the parking lot only to fuck in the back seat of his car? Happy hour on Friday evenings only to get drunk and have sex at his penthouse?
“Can I come over to keep you company?”
“I don’t know, E. This office fling situation can fuck with both of our jobs.” You nibble on your bottom lip the second his lips came into contact with your throat.
“Nobody gotta know,” his plush lips sought out yours again, “It can be our little secret, baby.”
“But what if someone does find out?”
“It won’t happen like that, trust me,” Erik grabs your hand to rest against his crotch. Erik was swelled to cum-inspiring proportions, making you want to finger-fuck yourself with mounting enthusiasm.
“Damn, Erik.” Now you were thinking about this office fling as a carnal delight after hours.
“I know, right? Imagine me walking around all day, watching you with these big titties...shapely legs...and round ass…”
You had the body, beauty, and brains. That meant that you seldom went unnoticed; especially not by Erik, your work bae. Your slant eyes and supple body reminded him of a jungle cat that, when tamed, purred like a kitten. He wanted to hear you mewl and whimper in his ear while his dick that was currently twisted and curved in his briefs bounced off the walls of your pussy. He could see the lust in your feline eyes how quickly you noticed his arched appendage. You were probably fantasizing about what wonderful things it could do for your G-spot.
“Keep looking at me like that and watch I finger-fuck this pussy right here,” Erik’s eyes went down to look at the Apple watch on his wrist, “It’s almost that time to eat. I’m tryna eat something else though…”
“Eat me?” You couldn’t control that slipping from your mouth.
“Slob on this yummy pussy,” his hand was between your legs now, caressing the outside of your saturated panties, “You gonna feed me?”
“Where?” You whisper.
“Shit, we can go to my car for lunch. I got tinted windows.” Erik was desperate to slide his tongue inside you.
“Erik, this is crazy.” You laugh faintly before he took your face into his hands, gazed into your eyes, and kissed you so urgently it felt as if you were floating away. You could think of nothing else but how good he made you feel. Erik explores your mouth with his tongue, not wanting you to miss an inch of how skilled he was using his mouth.
“You’ll be begging me to make this pussy feel good in a minute.”
You were relentless with your hands squeezing the weight of Erik’s curved erection in his black slacks. You really wanted to untuck his dress shirt, get down on your knees, and suck him with a wide-open mouth. Keep your mouth as wide-open as was physically possible—anxiously awaiting your reward.
“Don’t worry babe,” Erik gently pulls your hand away from his crotch, “wait for lunch and you can have me all to yourself, okay?”
———
You waited and waited. As soon as Erik left that lounge to go back to his desk a last-minute meeting was called and of course, you had to attend as well. Everyone got up from their designated spots to head to the conference room. You squeezed into the same elevator cart as Erik, moving to the back so you could be near him. On purpose, you settle in front of him. Erik’s hand reached out to play with your thick ass while you focused on your phone. That only lasted for about ten seconds because now you were on the 6th floor. Hungry for his touch again you allow everyone else to leave so he could slap your ass.
During the hour-long meeting, both of your eyes would meet and knowing smiles would appear on both of your faces. You didn’t like the fact that Demetria was seated next to him with her cleavage hanging out from her black blazer. She tried her best to make Erik notice her but he didn’t give a fuck about her thirsty actions.
It was well past lunchtime and most of the office had gone to either the food court in the building or outside to find something different to eat for a change. Your stomach was rumbling waiting for Erik. Groaning, you put your computer to sleep before grabbing your Chanel bag to leave for lunch by yourself. It wasn’t Erik’s fault, you knew that, but you couldn’t help being upset and sexually frustrated. No pussy eating or dick sucking in his G Wagon 550 SUV in a desert silver metallic color.
Eating alone was boring and lonely. You played with your Caesar salad and hardly even toughed the veggie lasagna. How were you supposed to feed your appetite when it was salivating for dick? You were so excited to finally hook up with Erik. Checking the time on your phone, you had about two hours left in your shift. You pack away the food and decide to save it for dinner tonight. Standing up, you push in the silver chair at the food court table, walking away with a click-clack of your So Kate pumps. You thumb the elevator button before slipping a piece of gum into your mouth. The doors open up and you enter, turning to watch them shut as your reflection appeared.
Ping ping
Erik -where did you go?
-To lunch. I was hungry.
Erik- Really? Why didn’t you wait for me?
-Because I was STARVING. Plus, you were busy.
Erik- I’m not busy anymore. Where are you now?
-Heading back upstairs.
Erik- I’ll wait for you.
-Erik, I have to go back to work!
Erik- fuck that you know what I want.
DING. Fifth Floor.
“Told you I’ll wait for you,” He smiles at you dangerously.
You almost swallow your gum the way he approached you. You and him, alone in that elevator. Erik kisses your lips, savoring the minty taste from the gum. He pulled back, taking his thumb to wipe the spit from his bottom lip. He turns around to press the 4th-floor button since that’s were the garage entrance was. Suddenly you were shaking in your pumps. It was really going to happen. Finally, your pussy wouldn’t feel painfully neglected. Finally, you could have the touch of a man on your body after an entire month.
“Are you okay?” Erik asked while looking down at you.
“Yeah, I’m cool,” you give him a reassuring smile.
DING. Fourth Floor.
Down a hallway and through the garage door you both went with your hand in Erik’s. You walk along the concrete ground as your ears took in the sounds of sirens and car horns honking in the middle of traffic. His G-Wagon was parked in a private spot. Erik took his keys out of his suit jacket and unlocked it with a click of a button, even started it up as well. You could hear the engine rumble. The large SUV vibrates as the sound of his radio playing blasted through the speakers. Erik opened the back door, reclining the backseats to lay flat like a bed. He takes off his suit jacket, tossing it in the passenger seat before turning to you, lifting you up, and sitting you in the back.
Once there, you take off your heels and place them far enough away so Erik and you could have plenty of space. Erik sat down, leaning forward to remove his shoes. After that, he unbuttoned his dress shirt before pulling it off and balling it up to toss at the front with his suit jacket. He finally turns, crawling his large chiseled body towards you with playful eyes.
“Is that pussy still as wet as it was earlier today? Can I taste that kitty?”
Erik pulled your legs, laying you down on your back. He was on his knees between your legs, opening them wide causing your skirt to lift and bunch around your waist. He came face to face with that phat puss covered in wet fabric. Your voice was stuck in your throat. Erik takes both of his masculine hands to pull down your already saturated panties, spreading open your legs further, and staring at that pink pussy coated with cream. He could smell your scent. His car smelling like your wet pussy.
“Yeah, this pussy still sloppy,” Erik listened to you purr as he flicked your clit with his thumb. Erik continues to do this while slapping your pussy with his fingers. Each time he slapped your pussy, your juices would build and build to the point of making puddles beneath your ass in his car.
“Can I stuff this pussy with my fingers now,” Erik licked his thick fingers clean, “I wanna squeeze in there deep, baby girl.”
“Yes,” Your cunt was starving.
“Good, girl.”
He plunged first one, then two, then three fingers deep inside your pussy, flickering at your clit at the same time. He was directly over your G spot with the pads of his fingers repeatedly rubbing you there. Your legs went wider and wider. The sound of your succulent pussy increased in such severity that it was almost deafening. Your moans mixed with the sound of The palm of Erik’s hand slapping your cunt each time he finger-fucked you had him grunting and groaning.
“Faster, faster,” You called out while gyrating your hips to fuck his fingers.
“There you go, fuck my fingers, just like that, get it, baby,” Erik bites his lip, “look at you ready to bust a nut on my hand, mmm, get that shit, baby.”
A rush of juices flooded the back seat. Erik’s eyes grew wide as your fingers tightened around him. That liquid poured each time he moved his fingers inside of you. All you could do was moan and shake beneath him. Your ass was glued to that surface.
“Damn, Y/N.” Erik takes his fingers out slowly before licking them clean. He got up on his knees to reach into his trunk, bringing a Puma gym bag over towards him. He opened it with his wet hands, pulling out a thick black towel that was wrapped in a body wash. Erik places that towel beneath your ass to soak up your mess.
“Making a mess in my fucking car.”
“I’m sorry,” You cover your face with embarrassment, “I do that a lot.”
“Don’t apologize about that, ma, I don’t give a fuck. Keep doing it like that on these fingers. Better yet...do it like that on my tongue,” Erik laid flat on his stomach, “You can squirt in Daddy’s mouth too.”
Erik began lapping away at your pussy with such zeal that you were squirming and squealing within minutes. With the flat of his tongue, Erik assaulted your pussy with such a lashing that your legs turned to jello. Erik then probed ever so deeply inside your dripping wet pussy with his pointed tongue, tongue-fucking your slot until your eyes rolled up into your head. He found your throbbing, erect clit and tortured you sweetly with licks and nibbles that sent electric charges throughout your entire body. Grabbing your thighs to squeeze, feasting on that syrupy pussy, Erik’s dick dripped pre-cum in anticipation of your walls capturing his dick and holding tight, while he thrust himself deeper and deeper inside of you.
“Damn, ma, I’m literally drinking this pussy dry.”
“You make me feel so good! Make me feel good, Erik.”
Erik’s tongue circled around your pussy. Each time he did that your hips would jerk. He was fighting that pussy back with his lips and tongue each time you pumped your hips. You gazed into his dark, sexy eyes and increased the movement of your hips.
“Oh, fuck!” Erik wrapped his whole mouth around your pussy and started slurping. All Erik could think about was how good you tasted and the heat radiating from your pussy.
“Shit tastes so good, girl,” He licked his plate clean, “fuck, look at my dick.”
His shit was twisted and curved to the right in those pants. Erik got on his knees to undo his pants. He let out a long sigh of relief the minute his pants and briefs made it down his thighs, resting at his knees. He sat down and pulled the rest of his clothes off, now he was naked from the waist down. You watch his thick dick jerk in his hand. That dick looked like it could bench press a barbell with how hard he was as Erik slid his hand up and down his burgeoning erection. His dick skyrocketed to its highest capacity causing your mouth to drool. Erik pointed out that dick at your mouth. Doing that caused his slit to open and show you his pre-cum waiting to be sucked out.
“Come suck me, baby,” His grip was so tight on his dick.
You obeyed every word and sucked him up into your mouth. Damn, Erik was a big boy. So girthy and veiny. Intimidating for sure. His tip blossomed so thickly your lips had a hard time wrapping around it to suck. Erik with a C ain’t have nothing on this dick. A beautiful slab of tasty meat gliding across your tongue and poking the back of your throat.
“Damn, this is how you do it, ma? You should have warned a nigga first.”
He held the back of your head to guide your mouth lower. Each time he did that, he would grunt and whisper oh, my God, which made you super wet. All you wanted him to do was splatter your mouth with his cum. He was already so close to detonation so you opened up as wide as you could stretch to fill him all the way in.
“DAYUM!!!” Erik bellowed, “Good girl, don’t waste a fucking drop when I bust in this pretty mouth. Never.”
You graduated from plain old hungry to ravenous. That cum of his sputtering and spurting forth was your reward. The suctioning noise of your hand jerking him empty into your throat mixed with Erik’s deep moans made your pussy convulse around nothing even though you could feel it dripping. You slapped his ever-expanding dick against your tongue.
“Shit,” Erik looked from his wet dick to your face, “Baby girl, I ain’t cum this hard in a minute from getting head.”
You plant kisses all over his dick, working yourself up to more sucking, “I can give you more, Daddy.”
“Give me more of that mouth,” Erik played with your braids, “Swallow my shit and lick my balls.”
“Mmm, okay, Daddy.”
Erik’s eyes rolled back when your lips would suck and then pop off his sack. He had to control himself from cumming in your hair.
“Shit doesn’t make no sense,” Erik looked at you with disbelief before a strangled look filled with passion overtook his features.
“Fffuckkk!!!” He groaned as he blasted inside your mouth with his sweet, sticky offering. You ran your index finger over your bottom lip to retrieve a dollop of cum. That only left you more famished than before causing you to enthusiastically slurp on his rigid pipe again until it was damn near raw and your pussy was sopping wet.
“Y/N,” Erik’s fingers were tight in your hair. You tasted a bit of leftover cum from his slit with your hungry tongue.
Ring Ring
Erik’s cell was going off.
“Shit,” He reached into his pants pockets while you jerked his dick. He answered his phone with an annoyed expression.
“What’s going on, Greg,” Greg was a fellow Environmental Engineer, “What? Right now?” Erik closed his eyes before tossing his head back, “Okay, give me ten minutes.”
Erik hung up his phone.
“We gotta go, ma,” You could hear the disappointment in his voice, “Supposedly it’s something urgent about Alaska.”
You wipe your mouth with the back of your hand, “Should I be worried about the trip?”
Erik gave you a soft smile, “Nah, Alaska is happening regardless. Don’t worry, bae, we good.”
You pulled your skirt down and placed your wet panties in your bag. You watched Erik fasten his belt in place before he opened the back door to let some air in. You rose from the car, Erik helping you put on your pumps before placing you on your feet. Digging into your bag you sprayed yourself with a little of your Chanel No.5, hoping to camouflage the lingering scent of sex.
Looking in Erik’s rearview mirror, you fix your lipgloss and clothes, everything else good to go. Erik was currently spraying himself down with some Gucci cologne from his Puma gym bag and buttoning his suit jacket. He looked just as crisp as he did when he came in this morning.
“You still ain’t answer my question, beautiful.”
“What question,” Erik grabs your hand while the both of you walked back inside.
“Can I keep you company later?”
You chew on your bottom lip in thought. Eric with the C, your actual boyfriend, might call you later and you didn’t want Erik with the K to be around to raise suspicion. Still, no word from Eric and the longer that happened the more you didn’t give a fuck.
“Am I pressing too much?” Erik asks with soft eyes.
“No, no,” you reassured him, “I just think it would be better to come to your place instead. That’s all.”
“We can do that,” Erik walked towards you with his body pressed into yours, “Bring an overnight bag. You’re not going back home.”
His lips attacked your throat again, sucking and licking you there.
“I ain’t give my work bae some dick yet so you know I gotta take care of you,” His hands found their way back between your legs and on your sensitive pussy, “You gonna let me do that for you?” He asked huskily.
“Oh, Daddy, please do,” you responded.
————
You got home around 6:30 PM. You showered, finished the rest of your lunch since your appetite for dick was satisfied and drank a little bit of red wine.
Surprised, shocked, nervous, you decided to wear a black velour tracksuit with your Fenty slides to Erik’s place and packed away everything else you needed on a faux fur tote bag. Phone sitting on the charger, you go to check it since you received a few notifications since coming home.
Eric with the C.
Eric- I’m alright. Sorry for the lack of communication. Really busy.
-that’s okay. Be safe.
He didn’t respond back.
No I love you, I miss you, I’m thinking about you, nothing.
Luckily the picture Erik sent to you made up for that. It was a shower picture. From his broad shoulders down to his well-knit waist with that v cut covered in soap and water. You had the urge to satisfy the cries leaking from your pussy at the moment. You had half the mind to pull your pants down and finger-fuck your pussy into multiple orgasms leaving your slit covered in sticky cum for him to find. How dare he tease you like that? Since you were spending the night you can look forward to shower with him. This entire fling had your skin tingling. Your fingers scrolled down to read the texts he left you. You really wished you hadn’t because now you were whimpering.
Erik- Can’t wait for you to put that work in for Daddy.
Erik- where you at? I’m tryna put this thang in your gut.
Erik- want me to come to get you?
He was blowing you up. Eric with the C never did this.
-Hey, sorry, I was getting my things together. You don’t have to pick me up.
HONK HONK.
Erik- too late.
You walk to your living room to find Erik parked outside. He was typing away on his phone.
Ping Ping
Erik- Stop making me wait, girl.
You grab your bag, phone, and keys before locking up and leaving. Walking down your cobblestone trail, Erik hops out of his car, walking around to meet you. He was wearing a black Burberry ribbed beanie with a Pyer Moss color block Reebok windbreaker tracksuit on and the same brand of shoes on his feet. He tongued you down before taking your bag to place in the back seat that was now cleaned and placed normally. Erik opened your door to help you up inside before shutting it to return to the driver's side. You watched him walk all the way around and get inside with sultry eyes. With his hand on your upper thigh, he drove off and towards his Penthouse.

Confrontation
No one likes it, but sometimes it’s needed to get a point across. Another use, to threaten another and instill fear, but we’ll get to that when we cross that bridge.
Harrison and Harry settled Tom down in the kitchen, ready to confront him about everything that’s happened. Tom fidgets with his fingers, unsure of what’s to come. All he knew, was he was furious that they both went to see Y/N, and didnt tell him. “Look”, Tom starts off, clearly impatient waiting on their prepared speech. “I just want to know why you left to see Y/N and didn’t tell me. Why am I being kept in the dark with everything?”
“Becuse you couldn’t figure it out. Even after being baby fed the information.” Harry says abruptly, his arms crossed as he stared down at his brother
Tom scoffs at the response, rolling his eyes. “How can I figure anything out when you all keep it a secret from me?! Mind you that all of this involves MY girlfriend and OUR relationship! And you have the balls to go out to find Y/N in secret and not tell me because I cant figure out a fucking thing in this chaotic fucking mess?!” Tom rants out, eyes and voice filled with anger and jealousy. He wasn’t sure if his yelling was towards the boys or if it was more toward himself, because deep down Tom knew he should have tried harder, but didn’t.
“No. Don’t you dare turn this on us, and make us look like we’re the bad guys.” Harrison snaps as he looks down at his best mate. “Just because you don’t know half the things that are going on, doesn’t mean you can be mad at us. Even when the words are written in stone, you’re still a complete div to not be able to comprehend it.”
“I dont understand.” Tom mutters as he looks at the table, trying his hardest to figure all this out. He had already talked to Natalie days ago about Kate and the pictures, but said she had nothing to do with it. They couldnt possibly mean there was more to the story other than Natalie being a complete piece of work.
“Read the fucking signs, Tom!” Harrison yells out. “I know you talked to Y/N that night about Kate and what did you say?”
Tom looks up at him, realizing what this is about. It wasn’t just about the pictures. It was more than that, something Tom should have realized and reacted to the moment it happened. “I said I was sorry and didn’t know what to say.” He mutters, his face now displaying a sense of guilt. “Fuck!” He whispers.
“Yeah start crying about it now you div!” Harry comments roughly, before continuing his speech. “Kate didn’t just backstab Y/N. She went behind the both of you. She was the spark that ruined your relationship, and you don’t know what to say to that?”
Tom shakes his head, realizing his mistake. For someone that works to display his emotions on screen, he failed miserably when it came to real life situations. It was miscommunication for him, the boys, and Y/N. In his mind, he was more pissed that Y/N was left there to think that he didnt care as much when in actuality he cared a lot. More than anyone would ever know, he cared the most. “No you all don’t understand that wasn’t my intention. Fuck!” He screams in frustration.
“Really and what was your intention then?” Harrison questioned, sarcastically intrigued to know Tom’s excuse.
“She lost her best friend. Fuck, she lost the only other person in her childhood that stood up for her, before this whole bullshit. That right there was more important than our relationship. I know shes the reason I got into this PR mess, the runors exploding, and pushed Y/N away fron me, but Kate betrayed Y/N’s friendship and trust. I didn’t say shit because I didnt want to make it about us. I wanted it to be about her and what she needed.” Tom spilled out, sighing deeply. Silence filled the air, and neither spoke for a minute, sinking in everything that’s happened.
“What she needed was you, Tom.” Harry said as both he and Harrison made their way out the kitchen, not until leaving Tom with a final warning. “We get that Kate maybe the reason she started all of this....but that doesn’t mean it ends with her.”
It left Tom wondering. Again, he had just talked to Natalie about the whole blackmail pictures but said she had nothing to do with it. Then again, she always wanted him to push away from Y/N. A talk he hoped would clear some answers, only left him with more questions. He knew who he had to talk to if he wanted straight answers, and she was going to give them whether she liked it or not.
Y/N had managed to avoid Tom the first week of her return in London. Sadly, it could only be said for that one week, and she had no one to thank, but a sink filled with dirty dishes to wash. Tom made his way into the kitchen by chance to grab sa quck bite to eat when he saw Y/N. It was his chance, he had to take it. It was now or never.
As he walked in, he made eye contact with her to which she responded with a slight smile and a nod. It was silent, nothing but the clashes of dishes and water running. “Do you want some help?” Tom asked with a smile. Might as well make the first move, he was a gentleman after all.
Y/N nodded as she handed him a dish towel, implying for him to dry and stack the dishes away while she washed. They continued this routine for a while, until Tom couldn’t take it anymore. “What happened to us Y/N? We were never like this in person. Hell the phone conversations we had the past weeks are more lively than this.” He confesses as he looks into her eyes.
Y/N shakes her head as she returns to her dishes. “There’s just nothing to say anymore. We’ve said everything we needed to say....Now things are just clockwork.”
“That’s not true. I know you still are keeping things from me. There’s more to this than Kate...” He waits for her to answer, but judging from the hesitation and the look of fear that dwelled in her eyes, his assumption was correct.
“You want to know everything?” Y/N asks as she looks in his eyes.
“Yes. I want to help you. I want us to be back to where we used to be before you left.”
Y/N sniffles as she shakes her head. “We can’t.”
“Why not?” He asks softly, hoping she will open up.
Y/N looks at Tom, taking a deep breath before she decides to tell him. She thought of the possibilities and the consequences that would come about. Kate was gone but it didnt mean Unknown wasn’t still out there. Everything had been so quiet the past few days, it almost seemed like she could breathe without having someone threaten her. Then again maybe her subconcious was right. Maybe it wasn’t a person anymore...Maybe it was just her.
Her mind wandered to Tom, who was staring at her waiting patiently for her story. Opening up her mouth, would be unleashing Pandora’s box and all hell could break loose. Blackmail, shattered dream, shattered relationship, broken trust, it would all come to the surface. The worst part...it wouldnt just stop there. But in this moment, Y/N didnt care. She had kept things bottled up from him for as long as she had. He deserved to know, he was a part of this as much as everyone. Maybe if Y/N kept Tom at bay, it would just be enough to statisfy Unknown and keep things as they were. Safe.
“Before I left...” Y/N starts off, her lower back leaning against the sink, eyes looking down as she lets out a deep sigh. “ There were already rumors of you and Natalie. Speculations that you’d be an item.”
“And you believed that?” Tom interrupts, his eyes rolling, unamused by how the story was starting. “Y/N if you were just jealous. Why didn’t you just say —“
“You think I didn’t know that?” Y/N fires back, scowling her eyes towards Tom, only to receive a knowing look from him that indicated to stop lying to herself. “Whatever. Yeah maybe I was a little when I saw how close you two got and how it just built the rumors. Did I want to tell you? Sure, but that didnt mean I could.”
“Im not following.” Tom comments, his messy eyebrow raised in confusion. “So you wanted to tell me..but couldn’t?”
Y/N nods, taking in another deep breath. “As the days went by, I started getting unknown text messages. At first they started off vague, saying how I didn’t belong with you. Look how much happier you were with Natalie. Did he ever do that with you? Did he ever smile at you like that? I bet he doesn’t love you anymore.”
Y/N’s eyes water as she relived the conversations, small sniffles escaping her nose. Tom was at a loss for words. He couldn’t for the life of him understand why someone would text complete lies to her. He was getting mad by the second as he heard each insulting sentence that came out of her mouth. “Y/N..” he says.
She shook her head as she continued. “But the insults started to become threats. They knew everything about me and was willing to use you as blackmail. If I didn’t breakup with you...they’d make sure you’d never live out your dream again. And for the life of me I wasn’t going to let that happen.” She cried, hiding her sobbing face in hands.
Tom quickly rushes to her, taking away her hands so he could look into her eyes. He held her close, cradled her tiny body into his arms as she tried to slow her breathing. “Then I found out Kate was behind the pictures and the start of the rumors, and now we’re here. I don’t know what to do anymore Tom. Everything’s just been so fucked up.”
“Hey, its okay. Im okay. I’m not gonna let them hurt you like this.” He cooed. “I dont give a fuck if it ruins my career or not. I care about you. You come first, that’s not going to change. But it’s over now, right? Let’s just move on from it. Ill break the PR, I’ll make sure Kate doesn’t walk away from this without serious consequences, I wont keep you a secret if it means it’ll fix everything.”
Y/N pushes away from Tom, reluctantly. She knew how much he cared for her. He was willing to risk everything just to make sure they would be okay, and in a perfect world, maybe that would have been enough. Could live happily ever after and not have to worry about anything anymore. Both could just walk away from it all if they wanted, but this wasn’t a perfect world. “Just because Kate started it, doesn’t mean it’s over. Unknown could still be out there.” She whispers, afraid of anyone listening.
“Then we find out. Together.” He responds, holding her hand. “I let you slip away once. Im not letting it happen again.”
He looked into her eyes, almost silently asking to hug her once more. Two embrace each other, and stay like that for a while. It had been so long since they felt this sort of comfort, which brought up a familiar and warm feeling for each them. So warm, so familiar...they almost didn’t want to let go. Y/N breathed into him, taking in his cologne, the one she had grown to love over the three years. It felt right. It was home.
But not all moments can last forever. Behind the thin walls was Natalie, who had overheard and seen the entire conversation. Hearing Tom, mention how he’d break the PR for Y/N and how he’d do anything, risk everything to find Unknown, rubbed her the wrong way. The way Tom held Y/N close, made Natalie furious, and as soon as she heard her phone ring, she answered. “He knows you exist.”
“A slight hiccup. He’s so caught up in Y/N, he just can’t see the real you.” The voice reassured. “Dont worry, he’ll love you when she’s out of the picture.”
“There is no out of the picture anymore. You should have heard him...He wont let her go this time.” Natalie answers, discouraged more than ever.
“Then we just have to up the antics. Clearly her dim-witted friend ruined the original plan. Thats the last time I ever trust an American do the dirty work. She can start a fire but can’t be beothered to finish a job. ” The voice scoffs. “If the messages don’t work, threaten her in person. Alone. Make sure Tom doesn’t see you.” The voice orders.
“You know it wont work. She’s not as afraid as she was before.” Natalie whispers as she continues to watch them from a distance.
“Then we’ll give her something to be afraid of. Why do you doubt me?” The voice asked, challenging Natalie. “Is this what you wanted?”
Natalie hesitates. Of course she wanted Tom more than anything in the world, but to what point? To what cost? These questions swirled around her mind as she thought back to how Y/N and Tom interacted in the kitchen. Their bond was so strong, they always found a way back to each other. For a moment...she felt almost bad. “Of course I want Tom.” She answers “but.. I want him to love me the way he loves Y/N.”
The voice scoffs at her response.loud enough for Natalie to hear the disgust in her voice. “Haven’t I taught you anything? Love is superficial gets you nowhere in life. You’re lucky enough that we’re settling for Tom.”
“I...I guess.”
“Then you’ll make sure Y/N stays away. Im doing this for you Natalie. Fame, fortune, your career, and your superficial love life. I want what’s best for you.” The voice becomes calmer more gentle, yet the sinisterness was still very present.
“Yes...mother.” Natalie says sourily.
“Darling, how many times have I told you to only refer to me as your publicist? Now go, before someone finds out about this.” The line drops, and Natalie focuses her eyes on Y/N who leaves for her room. Her eyes narrow, and fill with jealously and guilt. Her mother’s words replying her mind. “He will love you...just get rid of the girl.”

What I should be doing; Updating my current BFU/GoMens fanfic
What I am doing instead; drafting an entirely NEW BFU/GOMens fanfic
Here it is;
Story Idea:
BFU*Good Omens, but make it scary.
The Unsolved Crew are trying to return to the airport after a successful hunt in London. Shane suggests they follow a scenic route of no discernible town. They somehow find themselves in a town that is not on the GPS maps with weird vibes and, surprise surprise, their rental breaks down. They have all watched enough horror thrillers to know all the cliché-est plot points. What lives in Devil's Dyke? Are the Them serial killers? Is Warlock going to betray them? Shane and TJ are probably going to die. But most importantly; What does it all have to do with Ryan?
-This is Shyan centric. On their way back to the airport, Shane suggests the crew take a scenic route down South Downs on their way back from London with the promise of a beautiful lake. The London shoots had been rife with sexual tension, and Shane does not want the moment to end.
-They find themselves driving into a town instead, suburbania and quaint. The townsfolk frown at them as they pass by. RP Tyler straddles his barking poodle. They obviously don't like newcomers.
-The rental breaks down. The cliche Ness starts to dawn on them
-"Hahaha, next we'll find out this place doesn't have line!"
-There is no line. They all glare at Mark.
-In a fit of nervousness, Ryan starts offline vlogging. Shane suggests they go into town to ask for someone to call the two service and find someplace with line. Surely SOMEONE will recognize them.
-But strangers look away and walk faster away when they approach. Whoever they manage to start scowling or fidgeting, and none of them seems to recognize the duo. Some even claim to know only faintly of YouTube. It's getting unreal. They do not seem to be joking, and get only more upset whenever the Crew tries to convince or tell them otherwise. It is finally pushing dusk. The Crew stops by a beautiful park. There is no one around, but a young boy, who has a look in his eyes they find relief in: recognition.
-His name is Warlock Dowling, and he showed them a copy of his birth certificate to prove it, claiming that it happens often enough that he has to resort doing so. It's so fucking cliche it hurts. Ryan hates this movie already.
-But Warlock is the son of an American Ambassador who lives in the UK, and thus, likely the only child who seems to recognize them and their YouTube Channel. He is not a big fan, but it's a whole site better than literally everyone else. South Downs is a bedtime story, he claims. It's perfect in the way all the towns in children storybooks are perfect. Nobody plays the internet in a storybook town. It is not a prank. Devon is skeptical.
-Warlock invites them to go to the Ambassador's house a little ways down the airbase near the back of the town, (what kind of horror path will they take? Thought Ryan. Both feel like equally bad ideas.) but they decide to go tomorrow. He directs them to a bed and breakfast instead. All the rooms look the same. The lady barely looks up as she hands them their keys. There is electricity in the rooms, meaning they could charge their appliances. For naught of anything better to do, they are filming this entire experience. They somehow convince themselves that Shane is going to die because Ryan is evidently the Protagonist, and since Shane is his Best Friend, he is either going to betray them or die in a heroic act sacrificing himself for Ryan. In a fit of panic, Ryan tells Shane he has a crush on him. Which is great and sweet and all, but now REALLY seals the deal in because now Shane is a love interest instead. Hasnt Ryan heard of the bury your Gays trope?
-"I knew you guys were gonna end up gay" "what why." "they have to kill SOMEONE off and none of us are black and Ryan s the protagonist."
-They don't find Warlock in the park the next day, and are forced to look for him themselves. Walking of course. They find out about the satanic nunnery that caught on fire on a cafe because the waitress explains that they have to pass through that and the abandoned airbase in the back of the town to get to the villa on foot. They all sigh in exhausted manner, not much in the mood for dying.
-Trudge they do anyway. Nowhere out but through.
-The old satanic nunnery is....not abandoned
-They rush inside and find that it is a company teamwork support organization, and they give out paintball sessions. There is electricity. There is a line, even if the company wasnt currently in season. They try to find a worker.
-They find her. Sister Mary is haggard and busy running an entire company and booking sessions all by herself. She is in turns dismissive and annoyed to moderately tolerant....up until she learns of Ryan's name
-She suddenly wants nothing to do with any of them, practically shoving them out her door and face sheet white, mumbling about being busy and how it wasn't personal. The door slams in their faces. Ryan looks like he is about to cry. Shane snaps.
-He breaks the door down, to the shouts of surprise from the rest of the crew, and announces, with the loud, arrogant nonchalance of a white man, that he is not going to budge until she tells them everything they want to know about Lower Tadfield, the South Downs and yknow the fuck what? Neither will Ryan. The rest of the Crew follow his example and dig their heels in, pretending to film her for good measure. They are counting on the fact that she does not have security, and that even if she calls the cops on them, the building is far too suburbania to find very quickly. Mary looks absolutely terrified, and refuses to look Ryan in the eye. She eventually gives in, on the account that they will soon leave immediately.
-The find out that she was an ex convent of the Chattering Order of St. Berryl's, a satanic nunnery. She came back because she had been born here, and oddly enough, the convent meant something to her. A good dozen of the Satanists died due to a lightning storm catching the nunnery on fire the night two babies had been born, and three left through the gates. She's never been afraid of Lower Tadfield. Nothing ever happens here. They don't buy it, but it's apparent she believes what she is saying.
-They demand to use the present line to call for another rental, cancel their airport tickets, etcetera etcetera, emphasizing that they are excited about leaving just as much as she does. With this promise, she allows them to do so.
--They manage to get their raw footage to Cloud and cancel their tickets but just as they are about to call for a new car, the lights start flickering. The building rumbles. Mary looks straight at Ryan and tells them to run. They grab each other s hands and does so.
-There halfway down the road when TJ yelps, and Devon announces they are being chased by something. They decide to run into the woods down further down south to lose it.
-It is dusk. Nobody is happy. At least everyone is alive though, which is something. Ryan remarks that the chase scenes in the movies are exactly as tiring as they make it out to be.
-Mark hears running water, and the Crew finds an occupied cottage on the shoreline of the sea. Their sighs are loud; both relieved and annoyed. Mark starts chanting/praying that they are not serial killers. Shane announces that everyone must be ready to leave at a moments notice, and sleep in the woods of they must, to everyone's agreement.
-The man who opens the door wears glasses and low slung jeans, eyebrow raised rudely. His husband, blonde and plump, tells him to let them come in, and that it is nearly dinner. They are gracious hosts-old enough to be someone's grandparents. Cute and domestic as well. Shane goes strangely quiet when the couple dances in the living room, and Ryan chalks it up to their romantic relationship, for which they share talks. There are unoccupied rooms they could bunk in-five; each of them reserved for the couple's godkids. Despite getting their own rooms, Ryan cuddles with Shane. He is oddly tense, at least until they start making out.
-Ryan wakes at night to voices in his ear, and decides to get a glass of something to drink. Shane is out cold. He finds TJ in the kitchen, looking at his phone. It is a picture of his family-Kate and their daughter. This is hugely concerning, as it is a surefire telltale that TJ might not make it. Ryan promises him they'll get back home. TJ clasps him on the back and tells him not to make promises he can't keep.
-Shane wakes the crew at 4 am and tells them, quietly, to pack up and leave for town. He had found a map, and determined the way to navigate. They are confused but obliging. They do not wake their hosts-in fact, Shane seems to want to make sure they leave without their knowledge. They find their way back into Tadfield by 8.30 am, and it is only as they are having bfast that Shane tells them that there is no tech but the radio-which isn't plugged in. The water runs, but the pipes underneath the sink are not attached to anything. Crowley does not eat, and his eyes were....weird. Too many red flags. And as he searched the room for maps before Ryan came into his room the night before, he had found a crumpled poker card of the Antichrist, and Devon admits to finding one of War, a horseman of the Apocalypse, in hers. Mark taps his fork anxiously, and his eyes spell out what they all could tell. The climax is soon.
- It is not until Ryan walks and spots a bespectacled child of Warlocks age that he realizes he has barely seen any children in this town, and suggests that they follow him to ask whether he knew Warlock. The rest of the crew return to the BnB for some well deserved rest, but Shane and Ryan pursues the kid....into the forest.
-They lose him until HE found THEM. He immediately recognizes Ryan, who had to introduce his best friend Shane. Two other kids appear from between the trees. One of them, a girl, has a large wooden sword. They are surrounded. Shane grips Ryans hand, and asks, half jokingly, is they are serial killers, and if they are intending to kill him.
-The Them claims that it happened like, one time, and they do not plan to kill Shane, but their smile looks too wide to be genuine, like they are sharing a personal joke. The boys start walking away. The Them follows. Ryan asks if they know Warlock. They stop, sharing looks. Brian asks how they met Warlock. Ryan refuses to tell them . The kids get defensive, the way 13 year olds tend to get when they are about to justify doing a notable offense, like staying awake past bedtime The wind picks up, and the kids get visibly relieved. Brian tells them that Adam is coming, in a way that makes them feel like they definitely do not want to meet Adam. They scram it.
-They are being chased again. This time, when Ryan looks back, he sees what looks like a dog but isn't-like something is badly wearing the skin of a dog, like it has too many limbs to fit into four legs, a slobbering maw and hellfire eyes.
-They manage to leave the woods, and almost get hit by a three wheeled blue car. Shane bangs on the door and it opens for them, and Ryan shouts at them to step on it. It is only when they get to a quaint little cottage at the other end of the town do they acknowledge their saviours-a bespectacled, brown skinned woman and a jittery boyfriend.
-The woman is American. She recognizes them immediately, and says that she is a huge fan of True Crime. It is the most mundane , normal conversation they have for all of 2 days. They enter Jasmine Cottage. Shane slumps.
-there is a horseshoe above the door, and runes etched into the wood. The smell of incense burns strongly, and a redlined conspiracy board in a corner of the kitchen.
-The woman calls herself a professional occultist. A witch, basically. Which is...fine. She is at least honest and blasè about it, which made someone in this godforsaken town at least. Shane spots a picture of the Antichrist on her pinup board, the same one as seen in the poker card he's found in AziCrow's cottage. Anathema notices, and admits that it's complicated. They are confused, angry and terrified, and mentions their encounter with Adam, and everything else they'd had to suffer through as they are stuck in the village. Her facial emotions change from shock, to calculating, to confused, to skeptical, before finally ending In blank. She claims that it is very unlike Adam, as he usually does not go about scaring people from out of the village. He had welcomed her in just fine, and the town had followed short after. Shane asks about the Antichrist and Horsepeople symbolism. She waves that one away, claiming how it wasn't important and that 'They wouldn't believe her anyway.' She offers Meet to drive them back to their Inn, and they accept.
-They get back to the village; as they open the door to their rooms, knowing that the rest of the Crew is waiting for them, Warlock is also there. He takes a single look at them, and raises an eyebrow. They tell him what happened. Warlock frowns. Tells them the only reason they'd been hounded In such a way if Adam wants something from them, and TJ puts his face into their hands.
-They ask if they should lock the door. Warlock tells them not to bother-it won't stop him anyway. Devon asks the possibility of leaving this very night. Warlock shakes his head, but looks contemplating.
-That night, Shane gets kidnapped.
-Ryan doesn't see the culprit, but something tells him it's the Them, and the Hound, and Adam. He runs into the woods. The night is cold and still, but the trees shake like they could be alive. Ryan yells angrily into the void, asking Adam what is it that he wanted, that it's him they actually want, to let Ryan go. He faces the Hound, a slobbering, monstrous nightmare. Ryan thinks he is going to die. There is a boy sitting in a dilipidated throne above a chalk pit with blood red eyes.
-Two headlights pierce through the gloom. The trees still. The hound sits, and Crowley steps out if the Bentley.
-Aziraphale is in the car. Warlock peers over his shoulder. Crowley stomps over and tells Adam to come down-that his game is over, and it stopped being funny for quite some time. Shane stumbles out of the woods, dazed and terrified, and Ryan traps him into an embrace.
-After some chastising Adam admits that he's made a bet with Greasy Johnson in school that Demons and Ghosts are real, and that the Them had managed to convince him that it lives in the woods. He had not believed them, and made them bet that if it was really haunted, Paranormal Investigators would come and make a whole documentary about it. Warlock had showed him a few episodes of BFU, and Adam thought it perfect.
-Crowley scolds him, telling him against manipulating and keeping the Crew here against their will, and Adam looks appropriately chastened. Dawn breaks. The crew emerges from the Inn in a state of panic. Crowley pat's the van twice and it comes to life.
-Someone asked Crowley if the kids really HAD killed people. Crowley waves it away, claiming that it isn't important. In the light of morning, the kids and the dog almost looks normal.
- They decide not to prod any further. Aziraphale apologizes one last time, and tells the that they are welcome in Tadfield if they choose to come again. Ryan and Shane emphasizes that they absolutely will not, ever. Aziraphale nods like he understands. They pack the equipment and leaves the town, possibly England, forever.
-In a few days time, Adam gets an email- a video titled The Horrors of Hogsback Woods, and he grins cheekily to himself.

Ethan was angry. Ethan was very very angry at his brother. Outwardly, he knew to be understanding and compassionate in Grayson’s very trying time. But as a business partner, he silently wished that Grayson would end his romantic escapade with a past flame and return from Jersey to help Ethan launch two business endeavors: the lingerie & underwear line to extend their clothing company and the Wakeheart bath bomb launch.
When Ethan looked to Twitter, to find Sherry’s public break up with Grayson: all frustration left his heart. Even from 3,000 miles away, he could feel his twin brother crushed under the weight and impact of his own lovestruck decisions. Ethan managed to get him on the phone later that night, surprised to hear Grayson’s cool tone, “It’ll be alright E,” Ethan could hear some rustling from the background of the call, “I’m flying home—taking a red eye and I’ll be there in the morning.”
“You’re coming back?” Ethan was surprised: at both how confident Grayson sounded but also how quickly he was turning from his impromptu escape.
“Yeah but—yeah you can wear that one—sorry, but I want to go see Sherry. I want—I want to apologize in person, maybe see if I can do anything to make this better on her.”
Ethan’s eyebrows raised when he heard a girl’s voice in the background. He hadn’t asked Grayson about the photos of him and Kate, but he never pegged his brother to be unfaithful, even in the rockiest relationship, “Make it better?” Ethan mentally swore at his brother for being so idealistic, “You were caught out chea—with another woman Gray,” Ethan groaned into the receiver, “Are you sure going to see her is the right thing?” “Yeah I am,” Grayson sighed in acceptance, “I have to try—to try to apologize more than anything.” Grayson eyed Kate’s back as she innocently left his bedroom, “and E—I wasn’t with her, not like that when I was with Sherry. We’ll talk more when I get home but—those pictures make it look a lot worse than what it was.” “So, you’re saying you tracked down an old girlfriend to be nothing but platonic?” Instead of trying to mask the disbelief in his voice, Ethan leaned into it—hoping the comic edge took the sting off his words.
“No—” Grayson made a grumbling noise over the phone, “got it on in the shower a few hours ago.” “Gray!” “I know—I know. But she’s—I know that I need to apologize to Sherry and sort through everything right now before we can—before I have a chance with her. But like I said, I wasn’t with her when I was with Sherry, I wouldn’t lie to you about that E.” “Okay yeah bro, you didn’t have sex with her—sure. But your heart wasn’t with her?”
Ethan’s observation struck a chord in Grayson’s heart: joining the symphony of guilt that had been building in his soul over the past few weeks. For someone as familiar with pain as Grayson was, he hated causing it in others, especially when he considered them good people. He considered Sherry a good person, for all her faults. She was loyal, dependable, and positive. Despite his growing feelings for Kate, he was genuinely broken when he tried to face the emotional trauma, he caused his former fiancé.
In a white and gold bedroom in a house on the hills, Sherry Maddox clutched a framed photograph in her hands. Her long nails clacked against the glass of the frame while she sneered down at a happier version of herself, Grayson, Ethan, and Ethan’s ex-girlfriend on a beach in Tasmania. The only physical photographs Sherry owned were of her and Grayson from the past 18 months. She much preferred Instagram, but Grayson’s nostalgia had inspired her to collect happy memories of the two of them: memories that transformed her heart into a tainted space, left empty by the memory of who she thought he was.
Huffing, she slipped the photo from the back of the frame and pulled it out. She set the rose gold aside on her nightstand, letting it lean on a pile of a dozen others. In a swift motion, she passed the photograph through a shredder and watched as dozens of little strips came out the other end. The edge of the strips was not yet released from the shredder’s blades when she reached for another frame and began the process over again. Earlier that day, she commissioned an artist to construct a mosaic of herself, made from the shreds of her memories with Grayson.
The image of Kate shined in Grayson’s eyes, but her words made no sense to him, “Are you sure you don’t want to come with me?”
His voice held the full weight of a dubious question, as if the letters did not belong sitting next to each other in the words they formed. His eyes looked down at Kate, not wanting to accept the truth that they would be separated, if just for a short while, after being reunited for the first time in years. Having her again just reminded his heart of how difficult it was to be without her. She nodded and assured him, “I need to go see my mom. For real. And you need to—you have stuff you need to do without me anyway.” Kate reached up to a hand through his hair and down the side of his face.
On the drive to Philadelphia from New Jersey, Kate thought long and hard about whether or not to tell her mother about Grayson. She considered the possibility that her mother might have seen the pictures of her and Grayson in the tabloids but decided that her mother never knew when a royal wedding was happening, much less when a scandal hit the papers. She tossed any thoughts of Grayson talk out of her head: it was not official enough to put on her mother’s radar. Instead, she spent the next few days at her mother’s bedside.
She held her mother’s hand and reminisced about the good old days. She told stories about California until she saw her mother’s eyes close, welcoming the sweet embrace of sleep. Kate tiptoed out of the room and gracefully closed the door behind her. She welcomed the warm aroma of pumpkin soup as she made her way down the stairs of the brownstone and to her grandmother in the kitchen. When she let her anxieties out and asked why this had to happen to their family, their tiny family who didn’t have people to spare, her grandmother put a knowing hand on her shoulder.
In a semi-hoarse, but loving tone Bethel insisted, “Family is more than the souls you share this Earth with dear. They’re the inspiration and the aspiration of everything you want to be and everything you can be. Your mother gave you everything you need to soar in this life and the next: I should know, I taught her everything she knows.” A few of Kate’s tears spilled onto the black and white tile of the kitchen floor while Bethel continued, “Your home isn’t an anchor: it’s a port in a storm, a refuge from the hardest of times but not a forever shelter because you were always meant to sail harder and farther than the rest of us.”
As Kate’s heart wrenched with the acceptance of the hardest parts of her life, Grayson’s twisted in agony on the other side of the country for a much different reason. Impulsive and filled with hubris, Grayson never formulated a plan for what he wanted to say to Sherry: he expected inspiration to strike him with brilliance in the moment. This is how he stupidly ended up pulling the door knocker on the Maddox West Coast home and waiting on the front steps.
Grayson’s eyes went wide with fear when the door cracked to reveal the lanky figure of Calvin Maddox standing afront of two massive security guards.
“Don’t you know when to quit?” Calvin’s voice was sharp as his elbows from where he crossed his arms.
Grayson stammered and twitched his jaw, his eyes excavating the scene for some kind of a way out.
“Now,” Calvin started with his low Southern drawl. He peered down his nose at Grayson, twisting his upper lip as he spoke “Let me tell you how this is –”
“—Daddy!” Sherry’s voice cut the tension with a shrill acidic screech. She moved between the security to stand in front of her father with crossed arms, in an identical pose to him. Grayson’s mouth went dry. “I’ll take care of it,” she asserted. Minding her father’s disappointed look, she turned to the security guards and waved with her hands, “Shoo.”
Sherry gracefully stepped out of the threshold and closed the door behind her, careful to match her father’s antagonistic stare. She huffed out of her nose and closed her eyes, her hand rested on the doorknob. She looked like she was about to open the door and go back inside when she said, “What could possibly be left for you here?”
Grayson opened his mouth to start to speak but was cut off by her harsh tone, “I mean—don’t try to tell me you want me back. I would never. I could never after you embarrassed me like that—no woman who knows her worth would return to a man who pulled your kind of stunt.” Her words fired from her lips like projectiles that battered at the sack of guilt Grayson had forged in his own stomach.
Grayson nodded and balled his mouth into a tight knot, “I know. You’re better than that. And I will say this until the day I die, but I’m so sorry Sherry. I—I –I—” Grayson reached out for something imaginary in the air, “I was fighting a war in my mind and I took you down with me as collateral and you—you never deserved that. You were never anything but good to me,” Grayson’s eyes welled in kindness and sadness. Sherry stared at him coldly and narrowed her eyes: still not convinced he wasn’t about to ask for her back.
“I would never want to be yours again,” Sherry retorted, trying to anticipate his next move, “The world would never believe it. The entire world would look at me like some kind of doe eyed, brainless Nancy.”
“You have every right,” Grayson nodded, breathing heavily and feeling his chest tighten with every syllable, “You—you ended us and you had every right to Sher—”
“Every right to?” her words came so slow they were slick on her tongue. “I had no choice to. What was I supposed to do?” she sneered, “post motivation quotes on Instagram and keep telling my family that it was just a phase?”
Grayson nodded and his sweaty palms found a home in his pockets. He looked at the floor, where he noticed an obtuse patch of dirt on the toe of his shoe. “I’m sorry,” his voice was barely above a whisper, “I’m so sorry. I’ll always be Sherry. I can only imagine what I put you through—and you didn’t deserve any of it.”
Grayson was shocked when she laid a delicate, graceful hand on his jaw. She drew him in and placed a puckered kiss on his cheek, “Grayson,” she stepped away from him, “you made me an underdog,” she placed a hand on the door knob, “and everyone loves an underdog.”
She turned to leave but twisted her upper body in his direction, “Was that all?” her tone was flat and devoid of any emotion.
Grayson gnawed at his lip and circled his head, “If—well—those pictures weren’t what it looked like—that girl, she’s—”
Sherry held out an intimidating, long, perfectly manicured finger in his direction. She spoke through gritted teeth, “Don’t.” She unlocked her jaw, “Don’t tell me a single word about her. I’m not about to spend the rest of my life swimming in those kinds of comparisons.” Sherry made a calculated move to swing her backside while walking away and closing the door behind her.
***
Later that night, Kate hung up the phone with Grayson as she leaned her backpacks against the dresser in her childhood bedroom. She dropped on her bed and eyed the science fair ribbons and faded polaroids strung on her wall. One of them showed her old cat, sleeping contently on a dusty couch. A few of them featured her friend Tabby: each iteration of Tabby wearing a different hair color. Kate never had many friends: tending toward shyness and introversion. Her eyes locked on one on the far left. She sat up and reached out for it. She thumbed the faded glossy surface carefully. The photo showed her and her mom on her 16th birthday: in front of a grocery store cake decorated with a few candles. She thumbed the surface again but standing up and walking over to put it in her bag to bring to California.
On her nightstand, her phone started ringing. She stared at the unknown number flashing across the screen. She questioned the chance of a paparazzi being on the other end: she swallowed hard and pushed the thought away that it might be Sherry. Throwing caution to the wind, she picked it up “Hello?”
“Hey..Kate. How are you?” Even three years down the line, she could tell the difference between Grayson’s voice and Ethan’s.
“Hi Ethan! Oh my god, how are you?” She turned on the speaker phone and sat cross legged on her bed: mimicking a pose she used to take when Tabby would come over to gush about boys. She hunched forward, leaning in as if Ethan was in the room with her. “I’m good.” Ethan started plainly, “Gray told me you were flying back tomorrow?”
“Yeah I should be there by lunch, I’m leaving at like 6 in the morning,” she started. She sighed and looked down at the phone. In that moment, she was struck by the fact that Grayson and her had yet to share the details of their mundane lives in the past few weeks, that had been anything but mundane. “Do you two still live together?”
“Yup,” Ethan let out a breathy chuckle, “I get to smell him every morning.” Ethan sucked in his top lip, wondering if it was too soon to make that joke in their relationship. “Um but yeah I wanted to call you, say hi.” He shrugged from where he stood, “Let you know that if you need anything, I’m here.” He was silent for a moment. “I’m happy the big guy came to his senses and found you again. I think the best version of my brother happened when he was with you.”
“That means more than you know Ethan.” Kate sighed and fell back against her pillows, “I just—this is so complicated. You don’t think that’s a bad sign or anything?” She spoke openly, feeling relief to have a place to candidly think out loud about the situation for the first time.
Ethan breathed through his nose and picked his words carefully, “It’s what you make of it. And as his brother, I know I’m--I’m biased, but all he wants is just an honest chance. He’ll come through if you let him. Just because things are twisted, doesn’t mean they’re broken.” “Thanks Ethan, that means more than you know.” Kate’s words fell heavy onto the phone. She sat up, as if somehow powered by the idea that twisted did not equal broken.
“Don’t stress about,” Ethan’s voice came with a promise, “If anything, you two taught me something about love last time around. You shouldn’t be worry about it.”
A/N: I feel like this part is kinda boring and I am sorry!

The Rewatch, pt2
Feel free to message me about any of my dot points! Ultimately this is just for me, so I can remember all my thoughts the next time I do a season or episode specific fics, but I greatly encourage discussion!! None of my friends watch teen wolf so I can’t discuss things with them :(
Season 1, episode 7
Stiles: I’m not scared of you!
Peter: and I took that personally
To be honest I don’t think I’d ever take a werewolf fight to my high school, like everything is gonna be locked and oh god there are so many stairs and nowhere to hide
I will still never understand why Scott threw Derek under the bus in this episode? Like I feel like saying Derek is the murderer that’s behind everything just raises way more questions than answers and would cause more problems than solutions
Stiles punching Jackson? Valid and wonderful
Okay I’m gonna be honest here, there was a big old chunk of this episode that was just dramatic tension and no dialogue so I did not follow a single part of that because I’m also drawing dinosaurs at the moment
Also I find it interesting that Peter (the big bad alpha) seems to want Scott to kill his friends and join him as pack member. Why does he decide that one pack member is better than turning the others and forcing them to join as well? Maybe he believes it will create stronger loyalty, but in my opinion I feel like numbers are more important at this point in time
Season 1, episode 8
Oh no I hate this episode
Scott and Lydia kissing is actually one of the worst things I’ve ever seen (and why I hate this episode), and wow asshole move from both of them
Watching this episode makes me feel less bad about the fic I half-finished where Scott major attacks Stiles on a full moon because uhhh, it’s kinda accurate to the asshole ways of early Scott
Werewolf - now with added visual hallucinations? (Also I still hate their beta shift faces so much, especially Derek’s)
Okay but yes to a canon divergence AU where Chris and Kate Argent think that Stiles is the second beta werewolf instead of Jackson
Season 1, episode 9
I really wish they put in like any effort at all to make the photos that Scott sends to Allison actual photos? Instead of just screenshots from previous episodes? Like where are my cute couples selfies or sneaky candid photos during study dates and shit
Jackson dos a really good job at being absolutely creepy, like I hate it but also good shit
Stiles, at literally every interaction with Derek, saying he’s not afraid of him and being confident and then immediately being frightened by him (and the same happening with Peter in the high school) is character consistency and I appreciate that
I wish people wrote more Stiles and Danny friendships tbh (as well as relationships to be fair), I just really enjoy all their scenes together
“You must be Stiles” yes bitch!!! I always find it funny how fucking soft Peter says that line, like his voice is so gentle even though he’s meant to be the big bad wolf and all that
I’ve been meaning to say this since episode one but I love the music they use, as in the actual songs and such, but I literally hate the instrumental stuff they use. Very rarely does it build tension the right way and it almost never sounds nice
Season 1, episode 10
I still continue to not at all understand why Peter needs Scott
“You’re way too pretty to be out here all by yourself”
Okay but Allison/Lydia power couple (Lydia looks so good with red lipstick)
The whole scene of Stiles’ father being drunk and saying “I miss talking to you, and I miss your mum” is so soft and sad and personal and I love it
Oh my god I totally forgot about the part where Peter takes Scott’s mum on a date, that’s so weird
Also “you have incredible skin” is so serial killer-y, I can’t believe Melissa let him get away with that
Jackson really needs to listen to his gut more, like stop trusting the scary wolf men and go do some homework (also wow Derek really ripped into him about the fact that no one cares about him)
Season 1, episode 11
My god, Derek deserves to kill Kate. She’s so gross and he deserves a little revenge
Allison getting Lydia to go with Stiles to the dance! I forgot about that! As always, give me Allison/Stiles sibling/best friend relationship or give me death! Also Stiles/Lydia friendship is very good as well
Did Peter just say that Allison should go for a lighter dress? While she’s holding a black and white dress? Sir this makes no sense (also Allison looks great in dark outfits)
Also there’s no way teachers don’t immediately notice Jackson giving alcohol to some of the other kids, they’d be watching the drinks like hawks dude
Jackson goes through so much this season (and the next), it makes me feel so sorry for him
The CGI for Peter’s fangs extending is honestly so gross and I hate it
“Because you’re the clever one, aren’t you” if only more people understood this
Season 1, episode 12
Peter making a period joke is so,, absolutely unnecessary and weird and I hate it
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Allison’s mum is a snake and I hate her
Also Allison basically has to decide on whether her boyfriend is a monster or if her aunt (and family in general) are monsters and that is a tough decision, especially with how manipulative Kate is. I don’t remember what exactly she does in season 2 but idk how much I can blame her for it
Parking garage scene!! My favourite to read canon divergent scenes about
In defense of Scott, some of my passwords do in fact involve the name of my significant other, but in argument against Scott, I’m a little more creative than just his first name
I wish this show gave me the classic wolf howls instead of the weird, low, grumbly sound that makes no sense to me
I tried writing a parking garage AU once and it went horribly, but I think I’ll be coming back to it soon! Having some very fun ideas right now
Stiles and Chris scene! God bless Stiles just straight up not taking any of his shit and putting him in his place about the Hale fire
Also I don’t think it gets mentioned enough that Jackson witnesses this entire scene of Stiles standing up against the big bad hunter
I honestly really like that the code is “we hunt those who hunt us”, I think it’s valid and it’s more about self defense, even if Kate and the others don’t treat it like that
They really set Peter on fire again, huh, definitely not adding to his trauma and major pain or anything
Overall I do enjoy this season, I mean there’s a reason I continued watching it and am back here again for another rewatch. I think there are definitely some issues with the writing, of character morals and motivations not always aligning with their actions and that kind of thing. I really hope that as the show continues I see improvement in Tyler Posey’s acting, because until now I’ve never really paid too much attention to him honestly (which is a concern since he’s the main character).
I do really wish that they didn’t set Peter on fire, and I find it interesting that Stiles and Jackson were more involved with Peter’s death than Scott was. Although if Scott (or anyone other than Derek) killed Peter we would have avoided like all of season 2, but I do enjoy season 2.
I really enjoy seeing the characters interacting with each other honestly, especially Stiles interacting with any of the “bad guys” and the bad guys (Chris, Derek, Peter) and I really wish we got to see him talk with Kate, honestly.

The bunkhouse is silent after a festive night. All the lights out, except for the one on Y/N’s bedside table. Sleep might have come limited the past week, but she isn’t ready to close her eyes just yet. The adventurous trail, combined with the unexpected news about her qualification has her riled up with excitement.
Not sure what to do with this new found energy, she has taken out one of her notebooks, which is filled with scrabbles. She won State Championships with a relatively simple floorplan, not wanting to overshoot, but if she wants to leave an impression with the judges at Congress, she needs to step up her game. Combinations between exercises will push up her degree of difficulty, so she decided to change a few lines. Working on her freestyle tonight wasn’t entirely according to plan, but who knows, maybe the tequila and beer will add some creativity.
She has changed into a comfortable tank top and a pair of shorts, the soft fabric a contrast to the sandy denim she’s been clad in the past days. The temperature is comfortably warm, early October in Arizona much more like summer compared to the autumn days she’s used to in Maine.
Strangely, she hasn’t been homesick for Freeport at all. She misses her mom and dad, her brothers, but after her time living on campus, she’s used to being away from family. Her father travels a lot for work, and Jaime, her older brother by three years, moved to the other side of the country straight out of the Police Academy, fighting crime in Los Angeles these days. Middle kid Jackson bought a house in Boston and is busy with his real estate firm, while her oldest brother, Jeff and his wife are expecting their first child. Y/N wouldn’t say they have grown apart, but now that she and her siblings don’t share a house anymore, things have changed. They’ve spread their wings, built a life for themselves.
She checks her phone when a message from Jaime pops up, sending her a selfie in which he shows off his muscles, holding up a fist. ‘Show them what you’re made of! You’re gonna ace that ride!’ he added in the caption. She closes the text, scrolling down the list of messages from family and friends, until she finds one from Jeffrey, which is a little more lengthy. ‘Mom said I had to wait until Dad reached you, so I hope you got the news by now, otherwise I’m in trouble. Congratulations, Sis. You worked so hard for this. I’m really proud of you, and I know Grandpa will be cheering you on from above. You’re already a champion.’ She smiles at the sweet words; she should really give him a call next week.
Redirecting her attention to the notebook in her lap, she picks up her pen, sketches a new line, crosses it and bites on the pen cap, pondering. Marcel, her trainer at the Freeport Equestrian Center, helped her with the first version. She could get in touch with him tomorrow, she’s sure he will be willing to shed a light on what she has so far. Distance will be an issue, though, and with time being of the essence since it’s only fifteen days before they head towards Columbus, Ohio, where Congress is held, she has to take a different approach.
What if she asks Dean to help her with the freestyle, or even to come with her to the show? He has helped her a couple of times during training and she appreciates his approach. His suggestions and tips paid off; his methods really seemed to work for both her and Meadow. The head wrangler knows Y/N and her horse well enough to offer advice in bringing out their best qualities, she just hopes he’s up for it. After some drinks, Dean didn’t stick around long. When she asked Jo where he went, she said Dean offered to do the final feeding round. Y/N thought about following him, but didn’t want to draw attention from the rest of the crew; them both gone would’ve raised suspicion and she doesn’t want to put him in the spot of having to explain himself.
When Y/N noticed his absence, her stomach made an unpleasant flip. The uneasy sensation remained the rest of the evening, not evident, but brewing nonetheless, and it had nothing to do with the alcohol. She wonders if something has changed, maybe. That coming home to the ranch caused Dean to reconsider. Why else would he distance himself?
Doubtful, she takes a breath, her mind going places she’d rather not be. Still missing a steady foundation for them to start building a relationship on, doubt surfaces again. Deep down she’s scared that the cowboy might back out, which would cause heartbreak she’s not sure she can handle. She cares too much already, she’s too far gone. Y/N is passing the station of just being in love with Dean; it’s growing into something even more.
Before her thoughts can spiral further, there’s a soft knock on the door. The kind that is soft enough to not wake her had she been sleeping, but loud enough for her to hear if she wasn’t. She slides out of bed, rises to her bare feet, careful not to bump her head against the top bunk like she has so many times already, and crosses her room. When she opens the door, she finds the man who has been on her mind on the other side, locking his green eyes on her. She’s pleasantly surprised to see him with it being past 11 PM already; she expected him to be in bed long ago after the exhausting past few days.      “Hey, what are you doing u--”
He doesn’t let her finish and bridges the few feet between them, cupping her face with both hands and pulling her into a kiss. After the initial shock, which only lasts a fraction of a second, he can feel her lashes brush against his skin as she closes her eyes and melts into him, allowing him to deepen the connection. Her response takes away the restlessness that weighed on his chest like a chunk of concrete, ever since the thought of her leaving arose.
They step into her room far enough for Dean to kick the door shut, preventing possible eavesdroppers from tuning in, his mouth never leaving hers. Instinctively, her arms snake around his torso, tracing the lines of his strong back through the fabric of his shirt. There’s a desperation in his touch that’s new to her, the way he longs for this connection is different. Eventually, he breaks the kiss and she studies him when he rests his forehead against hers. His eyes stay closed for a little longer, holding on to the moment while his hands slip from her face.
He didn’t want to steal a few seconds while surrounded by the crew, he didn’t want to get in line to give her a quick hug or a peck on the cheek. No, he needed to be with her, just the two of them without restrictions.
“What was that for?” she wonders.      “Just wanted to congratulate you.” He smiles, trying to mask his concern, and sweetly presses his lips on hers again. “Personally.” And again. “Privately.” And again.      She giggles, triggering him to chuckle as well. He moves his head back to take her in.      “Congratulations, Yankee,” he says, genuine. “You earned it.”      “Thank you,” she smiles, still slightly confused. “Where’d you go earlier?”      “Someone had to feed those poor starving animals,” he jokes. “And since Bobby already had a few whiskies, and Garth is an absolute light weight, I took one for the team.”
He was quick to take the final feeding round, not just because he was the last man standing. Doing one last check, giving the horses their hay for the night, making sure the stables are shut properly, locking up the tackroom and the cafeteria and eventually the large barn doors after switching off the lights; it offers him peace of mind. It’s a daily routine, a recurring series of actions, done so 365 days a year. Ensuring everything is exactly the way it’s supposed to be in the place where he lives and works, grounds him when he’s feeling restless. It gives him a moment alone, the horses his only company, allowing him to think things over and collect himself again. Tonight was no different, because even though he was relieved Y/N’s father wasn’t the bearer of bad news, Dean felt disturbed with his initial response. For a good few minutes, he thought he was going to lose her, and the anxiety it surfaced was much more intense than he anticipated.
Y/N keeps watching him as the cowboy is lost in thought. He’s trying to be funny and cute, but that’s not all there is to it; his eyes tell a different story. He kissed her a little too fierce, pulled her in a little too tight. Something is bothering him, and although she doesn’t want to force him to talk, she needs to know what it is before she loses her mind herself.      “What’s wrong, Dean?” she asks, softly, moving her hands up his chest.      “It’s nothin’,” he assures, shaking his head.
But when the concern remains evident in her expression, he sighs. He doesn’t want her to worry, or think it’s something she’s done. If anything, she’s been absolutely perfect. God, she’s so patient. Even though she needs him, she offers him space. Expressing how he feels might be terrifying, it’s about time he’s fair with the woman who’s willing to wait.      “It’s just that, uh - when your dad called, he… he sounded pretty serious,” Dean admits, looking down. “I thought something might have happened with your folks or somethin’, and that you...”      He pauses, struggling, but Y/N knows enough.      “You thought Dad was going to tell me to come back,” she realizes.
Suddenly his behavior makes so much more sense. His complete change of demeanor when he approached her table in the saloon after receiving the call, him seeming as nervous as she was when she picked up the phone. The sigh of relief when she told him and Jo the great news, his disappearance from the celebration at the saloon. Dean thought he was going to lose her, and apparently it scared him. Y/N is as stunned by the realization, as she is by the confirming nod he gives her.
“Well - I mean - it could’ve been, right?” he says, shrugging his shoulders almost apologetically, like he’s not allowed to be worried about a presumption as such.      “I’m twenty-four, Dean. I’m not going anywhere unless I want to,” she reminds him, hoping to offer him some consolation.      “Glad to hear it,” he responds, his hands moving to her waist as he restores eye contact. “‘cause I’d hate to see you go.”
Heartfelt, the beautiful girl in his arms smiles. She seems to understand the weight of his words, because she crosses her wrists behind his head and urges him to come closer. Dean’s heart swells in his chest when she brushes her lips against his, tentatively at first. His mind calms, the nerves subsiding. Not only is she staying, she also understands what’s going on in his head, and in a strange and unexpected way, it’s kind of liberating. Not having to pretend and put on a mask, not having to convince anyone that everything is fine. He’s gotten so used to telling people he’s okay, the words to express himself prove to be hard to grasp. Who knows, maybe one day he’ll get the hang of it.

Dean’s mind goes blank when she deepens the kiss, swiping her tongue against his bottom lip. Her arms close around his neck a little tighter, holding him so close he can feel the warmth coming from her skin. She smells amazing, the scent of her shampoo still lingering in her hair, a sweet smell of a flower he can’t name. He presses his fingertips into her flesh, carefully shifting them under the hem of her tank top, even though he knows very well that he shouldn’t. It isn’t going to take long before he will not be able to stop himself.
She feels him trace her sides, rolling up the fabric of her top as he does so. Normally she would be self-conscious about it, but when she parts from him when running out of air, all she sees in his eyes is adoration and want. Both seem to be waiting for each other, unsure if they should take this further. Afterall, considering what they agreed on, this would be a poor execution of taking things slow.
Without breaking away from her gaze, his left hand travels down, following the curves of her hips. He adds pressure, gently pulling her against him. What she feels through the denim of his jeans has her eyes grow wide. A delightful tension starts to tangle up in her stomach, sinking deeper. Somewhat surprised that she apparently has this effect on him, she takes in a shuddering breath, gazing deep into his eyes. God, she wants to go there, but is he willing to as well?      “Are you sure?” she checks with him.      Dean doesn’t have to think twice and nods. To hell with it, he’s not going to waste another second.      “I want you,” he breathes, his voice husky.
It’s all she’s ever wanted to hear him say. It might not be the confirmation of their relationship she’s been hoping to get eventually; it’s better. He wants her. He wants her.
Free from restraints, she crashes her lips to his and Dean doesn’t hesitate to return the kiss with the same need. All the question marks, the doubt, the thoughts along the line of ‘what if it goes wrong?’ and ‘maybe we shouldn’t do this’ go right out the window.      It wouldn’t matter if they waited longer, because if that wake up call taught the cowboy anything, it’s that together or not, it would tear him to pieces if she were ever to leave the ranch. If he’s going to spend this time with her, he better make it worth her while, and maybe, just maybe, she’ll stay with him in the end.
Eventually, his mouth leaves hers and begins to descend, his breath tickling her skin as he ghosts down her neck. Willingly, she rolls her head to her shoulder, offering him space to leave marks on her pulse point, then down her collarbone. The hint of delicious pain has her fighting back a moan, which proves to be challenging, especially when his hands roam down to cover her peach-shaped behind. Trying to distract herself and be useful at the same time, she begins to unbutton his plaid shirt, his touch momentarily interrupted until the piece of clothing falls to the floor in a puddle of blue, soon followed by his white undershirt.
Before Dean urges her closer again, he drags the only chair in the room away from the small table by the window, sitting down and pulling her with him. The wood underneath them creaks when she settles in his lap, her bare knees on either side of the cowboy, holding herself up and leaning into his bare chest. The denim of his jeans stretches over his erection, rubbing against her core. The sheer thought of a few layers of fabric being the only barrier between him and her, sends a surge of heat to dampen her panties. Thank God she chose the lace ones earlier after her shower, the ones she can only wear whenever she’s not spending her day in the saddle. She wonders if he can tell how aroused she is already.
Dean can. He can feel the warmth radiating towards him and he can feel himself growing even harder, too. His breath hitches and he stifles a groan when she rolls her hips, burying his face in the crook of her neck. Ho-ly shit. This might not be how he originally imagined their first time, in this tiny room with thin walls, this one chair and a bunk bed, but it feels so good. He has enveloped her in his arms, his hands roam her body, not leaving a square inch unattended. Without tearing the seams, he pulls the strap of her loosely fitted tank top over one shoulder, the material shifting down. His fingers then reposition to cup her breast, all while he presses kisses on top. When he moves his thumb over her stiff nipple, she pulls in an audible gasp.      “Sssh…” he hushes. “Wouldn’t want to wake the neighbors.”
Y/N can’t help it, though. The friction she feels beneath her, combined with the touch of his mouth and his fingertips, is already beginning to build her up. She begins to pant, her lungs pushing out air in quivers. Dean doesn’t stop, however, and continues to knead her breast without hurting her, smothering the sounds she makes with another breathtaking kiss. His other hand has snaked around her waist again, splayed on the small of her back now, spurring her on to move against him. Good God, if he keeps this up, she might come undone without him even actually touching her down there.
The chair creaks louder when she moves against him, triggering Dean to cringe. The old furniture is either going to break or wake everyone in the bunkhouse, and so he pulls Y/N flush against him and stands up. Without missing a beat or breaking the kiss, she folds her legs around his waist as he walks her to the bed. Laying her down and fitting himself on top turns out to be a little more difficult than he thought it would be, the bunk bed limiting his space, but after some shimmying, he manages.
He hovers over the woman he’s about to be intimate with, mesmerized by the sight of her laying underneath him, her chest heaving, her eyes lustful. She’s the definition of gorgeous without even trying. Dude, how the hell did you manage to hold back this long?
The trail of kisses he presses on her stomach has Y/N arching her back, her eyes closed in delight as he travels down. Gently, he opens her legs a little wider, feather light touches electrifying her skin, sending currents towards her center. His hands leave her then, teasingly letting her wait in suspense. She listens, trying to pick up on any sound of him breathing or moving, her senses operating on full capacity. He’s testing her patience like he has done for the past few days. A chill runs down her spine as seconds tick by, but then Dean palms her heat through the fabric of her shorts. She bites her bottom lip at the unexpected connection, her fists clenching the comforter and a moan escaping her throat. This is happening. This is really happening.
Y/N feels him tracing the waistband of her shorts, before hooking his thumbs underneath the hem. He’s about to drag them down and move in, when they hear a door handle being pushed down. Her eyes shoot open in time to see Dean jerk back and sit up startled, hitting his head hard against the top bunk. The collision of his skull with the solid wood creates a loud bang, followed by a strangled groan. He curses through gritted teeth, trying to make as little noise as possible, while outside the room a door shuts. Horrified, they both stare at the other end of the room, not moving a muscle as shuffling footsteps cross the hall, opening another door and closing it again. A toilet seat is lifted up, the person whistling to himself softly. There can be only one person who needs encouragement to relieve himself: Garth.
“For fuck’s sake,” Dean hisses.      Y/N is unable to stop a snort, sniggering silently, even though she tries not to.      “You okay?” she checks, trying to sound concerned. Not very convincing, apparently, because Dean shoots her a glare, while rubbing the sore spot on his head.      The toilet flushes loudly and obscenely, triggering the woman underneath him to giggle unstoppably. When he shushes her, frantically holding his finger to his lips, it achieves the opposite, causing him to break character as well. Doing their best to keep it down, she clasps her hand over her mouth while Dean presses his lips together, trying to compose himself.      “You need to be quiet,” he whispers.      “I c-can’t”, she hiccups, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Garth heads back to his room, either sleep walking or he’s deaf, because he doesn’t pick up on any of the action happening on the other side of the hall. His door closes, the springs of his bed creak as he gets back in, and silence returns.      “Would you stop?” Dean chuckles, poking Y/N’s side when she fails to control her laughing fit.       “I’m sorry, I’m sorry…” she returns, struggling to keep it down. “How’s your head?”      “It’s alright,” he claims, ignoring the slight bump when he runs his hand through his hair. “Moment’s gone, ain’t it?”
She wipes the tears from her face, breathing in now that she’s capable again. Comforting, she reaches for his hand. As much as she would like to continue, the circumstances aren’t exactly ideal. Their first time together shouldn’t have to be clumsy and uncomfortable, in a bed that’s too small in a room with paper thin walls.       “Rain check?” she proposes.      Dean leans in to leave a kiss on her lips. “Rain check. ‘Sides, wouldn’t wanna have to hold back because you can’t keep it down.”      She pokes him in his stomach now. “Don’t get cocky.”
Dean scoffs, sliding from the bed without hitting his head this time. Grinning mischievously, he turns around, pulling her to her feet as well. The cowboy takes a second to really look at her again, glad to notice the lack of insecurity in her composure. Her hair is messy, strands escaping the loose bun at the base of her neck, ready for bed in her pajama shorts and a comfortable top. She could have felt self-conscious in this situation, especially since their moment together came to an abrupt and slightly awkward end. But she isn’t, she feels at ease when she’s with him. A small smile forms on the cowboy’s lips.
“You should get some sleep. We’ll skip the afternoon siestas, now that the temperatures are droppin’, so we’ll start an hour and a half later tomorrow. I figured you might wanna train Meadow first thing in the morning?” he suggests, picking up his shirts from the floor.      Y/N agrees, glad that she’s being given the space to focus on Congress. “Dean, about that…”      He glances back, patiently waiting for the follow up.      “I was wondering if you could maybe help me out with my freestyle?” she asks, a little shy.      “Yeah, of course,” the head wrangler responds without hesitation.       “Great,” she breathes, relieved. “And there’s this other thing.”      Dean steps closer, laying his shirt and flannel over his shoulder so that he has his hands free and can lace his fingers with hers. “What is it?”      “I was hoping you could coach me,” she says, looking up at him. “Not just at home, but when I have to compete in Columbus, too.”
Humbled, he gazes back, the corners of his mouth curving up. Coaching such a skilled rider as Y/N would be an absolute privilege, and with the trainers he knows she’s had, he’s surprised she’s asking him. Sure, the connection they have personally is there on a much more professional level as well, but they are talking Congress here, the biggest show of the year, and possibly the most important one of her career. Apparently, she has as much faith in his abilities to guide her as he has faith in her talent.        “It’ll be my pleasure,” he states.      “Really?” Y/N responds, thrilled.       “Hell, yeah,” Dean says, excited. “I’ll have to check with management if I can get time off for Congress, but I have plenty of days left. Plus, I think Ellen is kinda rooting for us.”      She chuckles, but then does a double take. “Wait, what? Ellen knows we’re together? I - I mean, not together together, I get that we’re not an item--”      “-Ellen knows,” he grins, squeezing her hand when he interrupts her nervous train of words. “I think basically everyone knows by now, except Garth and Bobby.”
A little uneasy Y/N glances from their hands up into his eyes. Wait… Is she reading too much into his words? He didn’t correct her when she used the term ‘together’. Why didn’t he? Is he worried he might upset her again? If anything, she doesn’t want to push him to oblige to something he’s not ready for.      “Dean, I know we just… I didn’t mean--” She pauzes, collects herself and starts over. “I know you’re not ready for a relationship and that’s fine, we had that conversation already. I’m not trying to rush you.”      “You’re not rushin’ me,” he assures, calmly. “I just needed a wake up call in order to pull my head out of my ass.”      The woman before him hesitates, “W-what do you mean?”
The wrangler wets his lips, taking a second to choose his words carefully.       “When your old man called, for a minute I thought you were about to hop on a plane and that I was never gonna see you again,” he admits. “And - uh, it kinda freaked me out, to be honest.”      He huffs, barely able to believe what he’s about to say.      “I’m not gonna keep you waitin’ any longer, Yankee. I know I said I want you, earlier, but truth is…”
Y/N watches him glance down at their hands again, running his thumb over her knuckles. Nerves close off her throat, because she has a hunch that he’s about to break it to her; he doesn’t want the commitment.
Tears begin to prick in her eyes, but not from laughter this time. She knew it was going to be difficult to get close to him. Dean keeps to himself, probably because he cared too much in the past and learned his lesson the hard way. The possibility of her leaving spooked him today, and now he’s done. He doesn’t want to risk that kind of heartbreak, he doesn’t want to rely on anyone. Dean Winchester would rather fill his world with a hundred shallow and meaningless flings than with one solid partner, and this is him setting her free, before things get out of --      “I wanna be with you.”
Her racing mind, which was breaking the speed limit, hits a brick wall. Shocked, she pulls her eyes away from their entwined fingers, gazing at him almost dumbfoundedly. Did he just say he wants to be with me?      “W-what?” she stammers.      “I mean, if you’ll still have me,” Dean adds, a little unsettled by her response. “Look, I know I’m not exactly an open book and that I behave like a dick sometimes when you try to get through to me. I’m stubborn as hell and my communication skills need some work—”
Now it’s Y/N who cuts him off for a change, closing the gap and kissing him passionately. He eases into her, smiling against her lips and leaves a peck on her hair when she embraces him and buries her face under his chin. Relieved, he allows the breath he was holding to leave his lungs.      “So, what do you say?” he asks, cocking his head back slightly to be able to look her in the eye again. “Up for a challenge?”      “Are we talking about us training together for Congress, or us as a couple?” she checks, regaining her footing again.      Dean frowns and chuckles at that. “Both.”      She doesn’t need time to think. She knew the answer to this question long before Dean was ready to ask.      “Yes,” she beams. “Hell, yes.”

Batman ’89: What Happened Next in the Burtonverse After Batman Returns
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This Batman article contains spoilers.
Tim Burton’s original vision for Gotham City and the Dark Knight are returning to the forefront of the DC Universe in more ways than one this year. Not only is Michael Keaton back in the cape and cowl for The Flash movie, which is currently filming in the UK for a late 2022 release, but DC is also releasing a sequel comic to Batman ’89 this week. No, this isn’t Batman Returns but a brand new continuation of the Burtonverse from Batman ’89‘s original screenwriter Sam Hamm and artist Joe Quinones that “pulls on a number of threads left dangling” by Burton, all while recreating the singular look and feel of the movies, down to Keaton’s iconic Batsuit and Batmobile as well as all of the cool gadgets and Gothic architecture.
This six-issue miniseries is a big deal — not just for fans of the Burtonverse and Keaton but for the creators themselves. You may already know the story of how “Batman II” eventually became the divisive Batman Returns: after delivering a box office smash, Burton and Hamm were quickly tapped to make a sequel, but the filmmakers disagreed on the direction the next movie should take, leading to the director replacing Hamm with Daniel Waters (Heathers), who churned out something much darker and sans Robin, the Boy Wonder. With the Batman ’89 comic, Hamm gets to finally deliver his own take on what happened next.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
As for Quinones, this comic wouldn’t exist without his designs for the book, which he originally pitched to DC in 2015 with writer Kate Leth. Revealed on his blog in 2016 were designs for Harvey Dent’s transformation into Two-Face, the debut of Batgirl and Marlon Wayans’ Robin (finally!), and even the return of Catwoman — all of which will finally come to pass in the new miniseries, according to DC Comics.
But how are all of these big moments set up in the comic? Batman ’89 #1, out this week, begins to set the stage for an interesting new future for the Burtonverse. Spoilers ahead…
Batman ’89 picks up after both Burton movies, effectively the director’s “Batman III” if such a wonderful thing existed. After the Joker’s death and Penguin’s demise, things in Gotham City are worse than ever, as the Dark Knight’s crusade seems only to lead to more crime. We’re treated to chaos on the streets from the opening panels of the book, which are set on Halloween night, as the remnants of the Joker Gang and Penguin’s Red Triangle Gang loot stores, mug citizens, and attempt to hijack two armored cars full of cash with a cargo helicopter. In fact, it’s after the Caped Crusader thwarts the Joker Gang’s helicopter, sending it crashing into a building, and leaving several citizens dead or critically injured and millions of dollars in damages, that Gotham DA Harvey Dent decides he’s had enough.
Meant to evoke the endless charm and swagger of Billy Dee Williams, who played the character in the first movie but didn’t return for the sequel, Dent is finally given the spotlight he deserved decades ago. In Batman ’89, he’s a man on his own crusade.
After Dent watching the destruction and chaos of the opening panels from the streets after a romantic dinner with GCPD Sergeant Barbara Gordon, whom he’s just proposed to (!), he decides it’s actually the Batman’s reign of terror that needs to be stopped. Dent thinks it’s a vigilante operating outside of the law that has bred even more crime and death in his city. Although Batman swore to protect Gotham in his letter to Dent at the end of the first movie, the violence that’s erupted in his wake has left the city under siege, forcing the National Guard to come in to patrol the streets. A curfew has been put in place, while the soldiers hunt down the Batman.
The first issue raises some big questions about Keaton’s Batman that would have made for captivating big-screen drama. Early on, the comic asks whether the Dark Knight is ultimately doing more harm than good in Gotham, where citizens now dress up as Batman or the Joker and fight each other in the streets. But a grumpy Bruce Wayne (he’s also graying) stubbornly stands by his convictions during a meeting with Dent, who visits Wayne Manor to ask for Bruce’s help in taking down the Batman. Like in the movies, the duality of the character of Bruce Wayne is front and center in the comic, with the billionaire befriending people in power during the day while working against them as Batman at night.
The book also plays up Wayne’s friendship with Dent because it will likely be a key factor in Dent’s transformation into Two-Face. While the beloved district attorney is still one of the good guys by the end of the first issue, the ingredients for Dent’s fall from grace are already in place. There’s the trick coin he uses to make his own luck (given its own origin story that beckons back to Harvey’s childhood in the streets of Burnside), his marriage to Barbara Gordon that will likely never come to pass, his anger at Batman and Bruce (who is hesitant to help Harvey), and the way he threatens two Joker thugs with a gun — although he’s only trying to scare them, we see that the district attorney is willing to get his hands dirty, not unlike Christopher Nolan’s own version of the character.
How does Dent’s war on Batman begin? By deposing the Caped Crusader’s greatest ally in Gotham City, Commissioner Jim Gordon (resembling Pat Hingle). Gordon faces a vote of no confidence after the violence on Halloween, while Dent and Detective Bullock try to lure Batman into a trap with the Bat Signal, which has to be repaired every couple of weeks because beat cops keeps smashing it. No, Batman doesn’t have many friends left without Gordon. We do see their friendship flourish after two movies-worth of crime-fighting, though. The comic even addresses Gordon’s connection to Bruce’s origin story, which feels like a nod to what Keaton hoped would be the subject of Batman III if it had happened.
By the end of the issue, Batman is once again a wanted man in his own city, and when he runs afoul of another major character, he finds himself directly in the National Guard’s crosshairs. Yes, the issue sets the stage for the debut of the Burtonverse’s Robin, who ambushes the Dark Knight while protecting another kid who stole diapers and baby food for his little sister.
Here is the most direct connection to Hamm’s script for Batman II and what would have been Marlon Wayans’ portrayal of Robin, as well as the book’s most intriguing reinvention. In Hamm’s screenplay, Dick Grayson is introduced as a young Black orphan surviving in the streets with the help of his martial arts skills. In the comic, Grayson has donned his own disguise — a hooded black cape and a yellow face mask — to help the poorest of Gotham, and there are some interesting elements at play here that I would have liked to see on screen, especially the depiction of Robin as a hero trying to save those that the Batman seems to forget while fighting flamboyant villains and stopping heists in Gotham’s more affluent neighborhoods.
Some readers have long criticized the character as not only an example of “copaganda,” despite all the crooked police officers working in the GCPD, but also of a very wealthy guy beating up and maiming poor people. Robin’s debut as someone fighting for those Batman’s war on crime neglects seems like a way to talk about (or at least acknowledge) some of the deeper systemic issues in Gotham that the Caped Crusader can’t fight with his fists. This examination, coupled with Dent’s own crusade, even as worries that he needs to “hide his real face” to fit in with the elite and affect change for places like Burnside, would have been revolutionary back then and feels more relevant than ever now.
It remains to be seen whether the six-issue miniseries will really lean into this type of commentary, but issue one is a promising start for a modern reinvention of the Burtonverse, even as it packs in the nostalgia and imagines what could have been had Keaton’s Batman been given a trilogy.

--
It was a busy night; full of nightmares and scares. Flavia Hodges didn’t sleep a wink all night, and consequently, neither did Kate. Around four o’clock in the morning, she fell into the bed next to the teacher’s, only to be woken up two hours later.
Cassandra Steiner shook the young healer’s shoulder until she opened her eyes. As if a rock were strapped to her chest, Kate slowly stood up and put her palm to one eye to get the sleep away.
“Have you spent the night here?” She only answered Cassandra with a nod and looked up to see that Professor Hodges was still sleeping.
“I couldn’t leave. She had nightmares all night, screaming, keeping us all awake. She said she didn’t want to teach anymore, she was quitting, and she’d tell the headmistress today.”
Cassandra tapped her fingers on her thigh. “Anything else?”
Kate looked down, “No.” Steiner nodded before leaving her side.
She decided not to comment that she thought Flavia was trying to pronounce Karkarov’s name, keeping the information for Astrid Rhode.
“I don’t want to give her more calming draught,” Kate began as she stood up, “I’m worried that...”
When she reached Flavia’s side, she removed some silver curls from in front of her ear and came over to inspect her neck. She pressed her eyes tightly, still struggling to keep them open, and looked again.
“Miss Steiner?” She said over her shoulder. Cassandra returned to her side with an almost exasperated look.
“Now what’s going on?”
“Look at this mark. It’s a bruise, but look closer.” Kate stepped aside to make room for her, and the mediwizard ducked to her level.
“It’s like a little hole. From a puncture...” Cassandra hummed, and after checking that she had no more marks, she got up to talk to Kate.
“Well, this is the ultimate proof: it was intentional and someone tried to kill her.”
“The foam coming out of her mouth didn’t convince you?” Steiner threw a fake smile at the comment, not too pleased with the sarcasm.
“You know what? Take the rest of the day off. And tomorrow, too. Come back on Monday.”
Of all the things Kate expected for her to say, that wasn’t one of them. Steiner kept talking but only heard that she was also giving another mediwizard a day off.
“If you leave now, you’ll get to breakfast before the kids.” With that, Cassandra turned around and set about ordering some untagged bottles.
Kate stood and watched Cassandra before slowly walking to the door. With one last look and a wrinkle between her eyebrows, she left the hospital wing and, without bothering to go through the dining room, decided to go straight up to her room.
She skipped lunch, too, having slept through the afternoon; she saw no daylight that Saturday because when she woke up, storm clouds were stalking the castle, leaving everything in darkness.
The respite Cassandra gave her, apart from being confusing and somewhat suspicious, also proved to be very convenient; Kate took advantage of that afternoon to recover her strength, which was rapidly beginning to run out.
She escaped to the kitchens without being seen, read the first of the stories in Corentin’s book, put her notes in order in her notebook, and was able to enjoy an afternoon without those bulky uniform skirts, sighing with relief when she could dress up in Charlie’s T-shirt and simple jeans.
She had also taken the opportunity to visit headmistress Rhode’s office, but she had left in a hurry to her class. She said that if she wanted to talk to her, she should go the next afternoon.
When her eyes got tired of reading in the dim light of her candle, she put her cape on the desk and placed the book and notebook right on top. With a quill, she traced part of the outline of the objects on the cloth and while looking at the parchment Corentin had written; she spent the rest of the afternoon entertaining herself with a needle.
The next day, rested but not quite composed, Kate evaluated her options. She put her uniform back on, and with her new pockets sewn into her cloak, she armed herself with her notebook and book and set off on her adventure.
After breakfast, she walked through the halls, stopping to ask where the herbology class was being held, and after several confusing and contradictory directions, she left the castle.
The storm that finally decided to fall the night before had left the skies clear and cold, and Kate was grateful for the magical properties of her uniform that kept her from freezing.
She stopped short when she realised where she had ended up around the corner. The outer corridor where Corentin showed her the mark of Grindelwald. Only this time, she appeared at the other end.
With her head tilted to her right, she looked for the number 82 plaque that indicated the herbology classroom. It didn’t take long to find it, and when she arrived, she turned to look around.
There were few people outside. From where she stood she could clearly see the column with the mark, the quidditch field in the distance, and part of one of the lakes surrounding the castle.
The door was open, and she ventured inside with a determined step.
She was not sure what she expected to find. It had a blackboard that occupied an entire wall, a desk with a pile of books on it, and student desks that were facing it.
She went over to the desk and started opening drawers. A quill and several scrolls were all she found.
Then she inspected the books, the same ones Flavia had dropped that fateful day. She opened the one on top of the pile.
She could not resist raising her eyebrows at the innocent, and in her opinion, boring contents. She remembered the lessons with Professor Sprout and how they spent the days with their hands buried in pots.
“Do they learn anything from this? It doesn’t even have enough drawings,” she said under her breath and immediately chuckled as he imagined Corentin excited by some good illustrations.
She closed the book and sighed thoughtfully. There was no indication that anything out of the ordinary had happened.
“Let’s see,” she began moving to the board. She raised one arm and pretended to write. “I am Flavia Hodges, professor of herbology. I’m in my boring class, with no... posters or pictures, with my boring books and my bored students.”
She walked over to the desk and picked up all the books and immediately put them back down.
“Okay, you were carrying them with magic, weren’t you? So you should have been concentrated and just thinking about that.” She said to no one.
With a gesture of the wand the books raised in the air and Kate took them to the door, she went out and she continued through the corridor recreating the steps that Flavia must have done.
“There’s no one now, but at the time, I was walking among a wave of students and teachers who come from here to there.”
She looked at the column and switched the books to the side to see it better and went on her way.
“So I keep walking with my books, where am I going? To the library?”
She reached the end of the corridor and saw the stairs leading up to the castle where she and Corentin went.
“I go up those stairs and immediately collapse.” She turned to see the long road she had travelled. “And something happened between the classroom and the stairs. But what?”
She turned again, but she crashed against a firm body. Distracted, all the books fell to the floor.
“Hey! Where are you going in such a hurry?” Kent Jorgensen was standing in front of her with smiling eyes. “Were you going to return the books to Corentin?”
Kate made all the books back into an orderly pile as she thought about how to answer.
“Yes. Yes, exactly.” Jorgensen nodded.
“It’s very kind of you to help Flavia with everything that’s happening to her. Cassandra told me that you took the day off today and since I found you, perhaps you would like to join me,” he nodded towards the quidditch field.
“Today is game day, quite an experience.”
“Better not. I must take these books and... I don’t want to leave Professor Hodges alone. I know it’s my day off, but...”
“Nonsense. You deserve a break, and Cassandra can handle herself. So do these books.” He shook his wand and the mountain of copies rose in the air and made their way to the stairs; the door opened, and they disappeared inside the castle.
“Come on, you’ll have fun.” He said as he started to walk.
Kate sighed and followed in his footsteps, thinking that attending one, and only one, of the games would be enough to fulfil the promise she had made to Charlie and thus answer any questions he might have.
They walked together in silence, only accompanied by the sounds of screams and laughter that became more and more audible.
“No wonder there’s no one in the castle, everyone’s here.” Kate said as she arrived at the field.
“Oh, yes, we take it very seriously. First-year students are training now, but then the real game starts.”
A man with deep brown skin and the roundest eyes Kate’s ever seen, was in the middle of the field and when they were spotted, he raised his hand to greet them in their direction with a big smile.
Jorgensen reciprocated both the greeting and the joyous expression.
“That’s Sheyi Mawut, the coach, the best one!” He corrected, “He played for the Tchamba Charmers, do you know the team?”
“Yes, my b... yes, I’ve heard about them.” She cut the sentence before she could mention Charlie, and luckily the teacher was so engrossed in watching the man that he ignored it completely.
“Why don’t you find a seat, I’ll say hi to Sheyi.” Jorgensen said without looking at her, and started off on his way to center field.
Kate watched as the two chatted animatedly, patting each other on the back and laughing together.
While climbing the stairs she dodged several boys and girls until she finally found a free place in the last row.
It was hard to think that the calm and wise looking Professor Jorgensen would have behaved so irrationally; accusing Libor Marek of stealing his ingredients. If it was true, Kate didn’t know.
At all times, she had to be reminded that everyone, including her, played a part in the plot she was in and no one was who they said they were.
She was about to close the book after reading the last word, when she heard a voice beside her.
Taking advantage of the sun and the wait, Kate reached into her cape and pulled out the Tales of Beedle the Bard, opening it for the second story: The Fountain of Good Fortune.
“Excuse me, you’re the healer who treated Professor Hodges, right?”
Kate looked up and found a blonde girl whose face was familiar. “Yeah, why do you ask?”
“My name is Vic. You asked me for help when she was poisoned...”
“Yes, it’s true. Can I help you? Are you all right?” Vic shook her hands and her head.
“It’s not that, it’s just...” She sat down next to her and kept whispering, “I thought I should tell you that Professor Hodges didn’t accidentally fall down the stairs.”
Kate slammed the book shut and leaned over. “She didn’t?”
“I didn’t see it, but my best friend told me she saw the main staircase turn into a slide and then disappear.” She paused before adding, “In other circumstances I would have thought it was silly, but...”
“I understand. Thanks for telling me.”
“I really don’t understand. Why would anyone want to hurt Hodges? The only enemies she can have are her 15 students... if you can call them enemies…”
“Only fifteen?” Kate asked in surprise.
“Yes, herbology is only taught in the first year. Then it is an elective, but generally no one is interested. Popular lessons are Dark arts; with Rhode, advanced duelling and potions.”
“Yes, I know that...”
More and more people gathered in the seats in the stands as the centre of the camp was cleared. Coach Mawut, in his black and gold robes, flew in surfing style, picking up the quaffles that had been in use.
“The game is about to begin; The Screeching Eagles vs. the White Manticores, it will be exciting! No one has a chance in winter against the Manticores. By the way, I went to return Professor Hodges’ glasses.”
“I know. I saw them, thank you.” With a smile, Kate and Vic said their goodbyes and watched her go down the stairs looking for a seat next to her friends.
At that moment, Kent Jorgensen returned to her side.
“What a character Sheyi is,” he said with a mischievous smile, “every time I try to watch them practise the reverse pass, they just happen to be over.” He shook his head, still smiling, and didn’t notice Kate slipping the book under her cloak.
In a burst of courage, she thought perhaps she could test the waters with Jorgensen.
“I have been informed that Flavia did not stumble on the stairs.”
The professor kept looking at the field. He didn’t even change his expression. Though uneasy, his mind was under control.
“Glisseo.” He simply commented, “It’s a spell to turn stairs into ramps. I was there, a small group of students were laughing, I imagine it was a joke gone wrong.”
Kate made no further comment on this and consequently, neither did he.
Sheyi Mawut stood in the centre of the field and introduced the teams, who shot out boasting of their manoeuvres in the air.
Kate calculated that the time she could stand watching a game without Charlie playing was thirty minutes. However, she had to watch the seventh graders circle in front of her for another hour and a half.
The most interesting moment occurred toward the end of the game, where the commentator announced that The White Manticore seeker had gone out in search of the snitch behind the mountains.
She smirked as she understood the all-white uniform of the Manticores and that when they rose higher than their opponents; it was difficult to keep track of them with the characteristic snowy peaks of the area in the background.
Kate sighed with relief when the phrase 250 to 210. The White Manticores win! End of the game. Echoed around.
It took a long time to descend from the stands; the crowd was walking in its own good time and as they waited, Kate took time to admire the views.
She watched from afar as the coach congratulated the champions and spoke animatedly to any student who approached.
He chatted with a boy, and immediately they both climbed on their broomsticks. Kate looked at the ground to avoid tripping as she went down and missed how the boy went upside down in the air.
Once downstairs, she said goodbye to Jorgensen, but before she could make her way back to the castle, a cry caught his attention.
The boy practicing with Mawut was writhing in pain on the floor, his broom was on the floor and Sheyi kneeled by his side.
Kate shot out in his direction and knelt down beside him.
“He fell on his arm.” Mawut’s tone was calm and comforting. Kate raised the boy’s arm, and he hissed when she gently twisted it.
“It’s just crooked. Luckily it wasn’t very high.”
“How do you know it’s not broken?” asked the boy in a shy voice.
“Because if it was, when I turned it you would have tried to break your broom over my head.” The boy giggled at the comment, and Mawut and Kate exchanged a  smile.
“I’ll bandage it now, but we must go to the hospital wing and get you something for the swelling.” After some bandages appeared in the air and were tied to his arm, Kate looked at him and asked him to stand up when she noticed a purplish shadow next to his eye.
“How did this happen?” He turned his head violently and covered the side of his face.
Mawut and Kate grabbed him by the armpits to help him up.
“Micael! Come here right now!” All three looked up and the boy’s panicked face didn’t go unnoticed.
Leron Angelov dashed towards them and wrestled with Kate to get Michael out of her grasp.
“What have I told you...?” He angry-whispered. Angelov grabbed him by the ear and pulled him to himself.
“Release him right now, please.” Kate’s tone was sharp and definitive. Angelov ignored her and pushed his son to walk in front of him. Kate chased them across the lawn.
“He must go to the infirmary at once! Professor Angelov!”
Leron turned so violently that Kate’s first reflex was to squeeze her wand and aim it at him without lifting her wrist from her hip.
“You decide nothing. Mind your own business.” He marched behind his son and they grew smaller as they walked away towards the castle.
A reassuring hand rested on her shoulder and tapped several times. Mawut smiled empathetically and set about collecting the brooms that had been left behind.
After forcing herself to eat a sandwich at lunchtime, Kate tried to talk to Rhode again.
So far, everything seemed normal; the students were agitated about the exams that were just around the corner, but not about any intruder or unwelcome presence.
And the teachers... she couldn’t say anything about it. The truth was that she had had too little contact with them to draw any conclusions. She wasn’t sure that their being calm was a good sign.
“We need to talk.” Rhode announced from her chair when she saw Kate come in.
“I agree...”
“Me first, if you don’t mind.” She shifted in his seat and put her arms over the desk while Kate sat on the other side. She handed her a scroll to look at.
“This is the resignation of Flavia Hodges. She signed it a few hours ago and I’ve already stamped it.”
Kate looked at the document and then at Astrid, waiting for the next sentence.
“In view of the murder attempts she’s been suffering, I think this is the best option.”
“I think she meant to tell me it was Igor Karkarov.” She left the scroll on the table and waited for the headmistress’ reaction.
“Karkarov?” Her eyebrows immediately raised, and she interlocked her fingers in front of her.
Kate shrugged and shook her head. “I suggest increasing the security of the castle. Someone called the British Ministry for him, probably Hodges.”
“She would have warned me...” she thought for a few seconds and with a sharp inhalation continued, “Besides, that Ministry employee came before the attacks on Flavia began.”
“But what if he’s here? I mean, Karkarov arrives, someone sees him and warns the Ministry to come and get him, but he can’t find him and the man is still in the castle.”
Rhode opened one of her drawers and pulled out a blank parchment sheet.
“I’m going to write to Albus. I refuse bringing any more people from the Ministry into my school. Hodges will be transferred in a week or two, after which we’ll put guards on it if necessary.”
“I don’t think it’s right to leave Hodges alone if someone wants to kill her...”
“Until the time of her departure, she will be accompanied at all times. Now, I must wait for Dumbledore’s advice and in that time find a new herbology professor. If possible, by tomorrow.”
Kate sighed and got up from her seat. Understanding that the director could not give her any advice on how to proceed, or act on Voldemort’s alleged mole, she went to the door to let her work.
She was about to turn the knob when an idea was planted in her brain. And it took root. It would be hard to get rid of that plan.
Too irrational. Too risky.
But maybe...
Kate turned around and asked,
“Why does Flavia Hodges have her students’ textbooks?” Astrid looked at her curiously.
“All subjects have copies of the books for those students who don’t want or can’t afford them. Usually only students from wealthier families buy them.”
Kate hummed and slid back into the chair. “I need to get closer to the teachers and... you can say no, but...”
“What do you propose?”
“To be the new Herbology teacher.”

THE INTERVIEW.
( or, when sebastian met katherine. the discord thread between @epiitaphs & myself, feat. our muses squabbling over @diabolicaltendencies’ jim )
WHITEHALL, c. 2009.
Her heels make an impressive racket on the tiles, the sound of her footsteps echoing in the corridor like there’s an army of interrogators on their way to sink their teeth into him. Sebastian Moran. The slick haired, sharp tongued politician she had never liked—not even before she’d found out Jim was screwing him. It was just a shame that the thick carpet in his secretary’s office—in his office—muffled the quick ratatat of those stilettos. Her war cry. “No. Excuse me, madam, you can’t- Have you got an appointment? You can’t go in there without an appointment.” Kate ignored her and opened the door to Sebastian’s office. “My name is Katherine Conway,” she said crisply to the man behind the desk. “You’ll want to see me.” And without waiting to be invited, she took a seat across from him, putting her handbag down, and folding her hands expectantly in her lap.
Sebastian is, as always, busy. Everything's manageable at the moment - neither the country nor the party are falling into the abyss, but that doesn’t mean that he's got time to rest. There’s people and policy to keep up to date on, and he can't afford to ever fall behind. Which is why he makes sure to keep a couple steps ahead of where everyone’s supposed to be. It's what got him through school and through the first years of his job. It's also what keeps him at the office late, though that's decreased over time now that Jim's around. Much more appealing to be able to come home to someone and not just the cats. There was a commotion outside, Sebastian looking up from his work just as the door opened. “An interesting opening statement, Katherine Conway,” he replied. The name seemed familiar but not enough to be someone he kept active tabs on. “Will I?” It seemed very much like he would, given that she had clearly decided to make herself home. A nod at the secretary in the doorway and the door was shut. “In that case, I suppose I'd like to know just what it is that you think is so important to require an urgent, unscheduled meeting. My time is valuable and I have later meetings, so brief is best.”
“Cancel them. I’m here to talk about James, and knowing him, that could well take all night.”
And wouldn’t he just love that? There was a bitter twist to her lips as she continued, “He called me last weekend, told me about the two of you. How serious would you say it was?” He had a pot of pens on his desk, sleek and black with shiny gold hooks so that he could slip one into his pocket without fear of it falling out. She reached forward to take one, testing its weight in her hand, twirling it in between her fingers. “Serious enough for him to call, I suppose. But not serious enough for him to have told you everything, am I right? Didn’t want you to run a background check on him?” Her free hand disappeared into her pocket and came out with a card. Katherine Conway, Named Partner at Conway O’Kelly, an all-female chambers in Dublin. There had been a glint of recognition in his eyes when he’d repeated her name back to her and she was sure this was why; he knew of her work, not her history with his boyfriend. She’d enjoy telling him then. “Well, let me clear up some of the confusion. I used to be his girlfriend. And he wants to introduce you to the daughter we share. So, I wanted to meet you first, to make sure I was happy with that. Politicians, you know, they’re not the most trustworthy people.”
“James, you say? That sounds rather serious.” He made no move to cancel the meetings. He was fairly certain the first one could go on without him, though he’d miss out. But they'd cross that bridge if they came to it. If this was about Jim, he'd rather hear what she had to say, but he didn't intend to be pushed into any particular action. Jim had called her? What could he possibly be up to? “Quite serious, I’d say. I assume you read the news.” If she wanted details, she could refer to that. He watched as she took a pen, wondering just what her intentions where, what her connections to Jim might be. Sebastian didn't indicate an answer one way or another to the first question. “He’s told me more than enough and I have respected his privacy when asked to do so.” Jim’s privacy. Not that of others, but that wasn't something he was going to admit to. Not when she'd given him one small fact - that Jim had called. Fact 2: Sebastian hadn't known. Fact 3: Sebastian didn't know everything.
She pulled out her card - as if that would give him much more information. It’d give him information that he could find, which was exactly what this meeting was not about. This meeting was about gaps in knowledge and Sebastian hated being on the wrong side of that. She was more than simply her job and title - if she knew Jim, that is. “Thank you for the clarification. It's much appreciated.” The thin smile on his face suggested otherwise. That she was the mother was a surprise, but she didn't have to know that. “I’d be happy to meet his child, should I pass inspection.” That information hadn't been as much from Jim. “Some might say the same for your profession. I’d know - did you look into me at all?” He really hoped so, or he'd be sincerely disappointed. She'd shown initiative so far and it'd be unfortunate if that ended up being a false lead. Time for a little bit more of a gamble. “He did mention you, by the way. As a detail. Youthful mistakes, you know.”
Nothing about her expression, her demeanour, changed. She didn’t miss a breath or move a muscle. Not quite relaxed, because from her posture it was clear that she meant business, but authoritative. Refusing to be riled. Did you look into me at all? Ha. She wanted to scoff—the Dubliner in her who’d grown up in the wrong part of the city wanted to spit—but she didn’t. Instead, she smiled. “Of course. Sebastian Moran, graduated top of his class from Magdalen College, Oxford. Fast tracked into politics, no doubt helped by his Daddy, who’s the Labour Whip in the House of Lords. Sebastian Moran who dislocated his shoulder climbing up the drainpipe of his family home during a scrap with a sibling.” The information about Oxford and his father, she could have got from anywhere. The more personal details, though, they’re not such common knowledge. She could feel his eyes scanning her face, trying to determine her source. “Your sister told me. Moira. Well, obviously. Alex doesn’t talk, does she?” Kate’s smile grew wider, more pointed. “Still managing to cause a lot of trouble up in Manchester though, I hear. Moira and I work the same cases occasionally—opposite sides, of course, but it’s always good to have a glass of wine and catch up. I’d heard rumours about you and James and she all but confirmed them, but he’s never been one for commitment, so.” The comment about her being a mistake more than stung, but she couldn’t let herself lose her cool just yet. She brushed the hair out of her eyes and looked at his steadfastly across the wide expanse of his desk. “You’ll understand if I don’t want my family being dragged into the centre of a political scandal just for the sake of some fling?”
She didn't react, which told him only so much. Either it could be that neither of his hits had landed or that some of them had - and he wasn’t going to be able to tell which ones until she’d started on the offensive again. He didn't like her, but he had to admit she had at least done her research. Plenty of it, it seemed, given the much more personal anecdote tacked on the end. “A good summary of my CV. I’d keep the assumptions to a minimum, if I were you, though. I have an entirely different constituency from him - no handover there. Speaks just a little bit to his position on merit, wouldn't you say?” It was a blow that set him off each time he heard it, but Sebastian wasn't going to reveal weakness. “It's hardly surprising that it'd be easy to find inspiration in his work.”
An eyebrow raised as he stared, wondering just who she might have had access to - ah. Moira. Of course. No family loyalty - he should have known. They'd have to talk about that next time he saw her. In all, the story wasn't too damning, as long as no one looked too closely at how old he'd been at the time. The fact that Moira somehow approved of Conway was both a red flag and a promise that this would be interesting, no matter the way it turned out. “Oh, no, Alex simply has better judgement of who she speaks to.” The jab at Alex was another blow that landed. Conway really had done her research. A smile. “You know, given how close she and Jim are?” Just how far he’d gone since leaving Kate. He wouldn’t give her information that she didn't deserve - that Jim had been committed for far longer than the press knew. “I think he can be, with the right person. Maybe you didn't have enough faith.” The personal angle seemed a far richer vein for now. “I understand perfectly, though really it's up to you - when have I ever been implicated in a scandal, after all? It’d be awful to lose the reputation you've made, wouldn’t it? And I'm sure the scrutiny on the rest of your family would be uncomfortable as well.” It wasn't an outright threat. “All the same, I do understand the value placed on family - did Moira neglect to tell you about the times I've looked after her children?”
“I have plenty of faith, thank you. Actually, I found it was his that was lacking.” Tucked beneath the sharp collar of the severe white shirt ( court clothes; really, she should be at the hotel, prepping her closing statement for tomorrow ) was the battered gold crucifix her parents had given her for her First Communion. Her fingers tighten around one another in her lap so they don’t fly up to fiddle with it. No clues. “And reminding me about his lifestyle choices—" As if that was necessary. “—Won’t help you make your case, Mr. Moran.” Once upon a time, it had been James’s lack of conventionality that she had loved, the fact that he wore leather and make up and made her mother spit with fury whenever she saw them together. When had that changed? When she’d found out she was pregnant and the father of her child had fucked off to England, leaving her unmarried and in trouble and—
Kate took a deep breath to calm herself, recentre her thoughts, and continued. “I’m sure you’re a fine babysitter,” she said stiffly. “But this is different. And the fact that you can sit there and threaten my family tells me everything I need to know. Unless you have anything else to add, this interview is over.” She pocketed his pen and bent down to retrieve her bag, getting back on her feet before she said, “You can give James my answer, and that is if he ever brings up introducing her to you—or attempts to do it behind my back—I shan’t let him anywhere near her again. We can take it to the courts if we have to; we all know who’s going to win.”
“A strong judgment, I'd say.” Perhaps not entirely unfair, depending on what sort of faith they were discussing, but still. “No, I suppose it wouldn’t. But one of my sisters is willing to avoid gossip about the family, and it’s not the one you’re friends with.” He’d really have to talk to Moira about tattling like that. It was annoying, more than anything, but all the same. She took a breath and - clearly, he’d set her off with one his remarks - this wasn't really how he'd wanted this to go. “I don't see how it's different. In fact, I'd say it's even more low risk than babysitting, given that all Jim has asked of you is an introduction.” He considered asking for his pen back. With her standing, ready to go, he’d have to take this seriously - more seriously than before. He might have told her not to be so sure about the outcome, but that would drive the wedge further between them. For Jim’s sake, he shouldn’t.
“I know the statistics of custody awards, Miss Conway. There is no need to threaten.” Really, there was no need to resort to outright threats. “You do realize a court case would bring exactly the sort of eyes you’d like to avoid?" He stood as well, finally. “I appreciate how much you're willing to do to protect your family and I won't tell you how to do so, but I do think it incredibly unfair of you to not tell him your decision yourself. Not because I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but because he - maturely - asked you for permission to do the barest minimum of actions and you're making assumptions based on a five minute interview that you began with no pretensions of civility.” She’d come in on the offensive and he’d replied in kind. "You don't have to like me - I hardly expect you would, but that doesn't seem like just grounds to punish Jim. Or your daughter, really, who I believe is old enough to ask questions. If I find that you've ever actually prevented him from seeing her because of me, then I really will take issue." Maybe a bit of a threat.
“Mrs.” She paused with her bag over her arm, glowering down at him until her got his feet, and then, even in heels, she was forced to look up. “I don't know what kind of woman you think I am, sir, but I'm not a single one, that's for sure. I've been married eleven years next month.” For their anniversary the year before, she and Richard had hoped to go to Italy. Perhaps this year, if they could find someone to mind the children for a long weekend, they'd actually make it to the art galleries in Florence, the catacombs under Rome. Maybe if Jim could take them ... There was no one else she trusted, but could she even trust him anymore? “You said you were short on time and I believe in getting straight to the point, so please forgive me if I didn't pause to make small talk; we're busy people and there's not a whole lot to say. I don't like to be threatened and that’s twice in five minutes you've threatened me and my family. I don't like you, and your attitude certainly isn't helping. How long have you and James been together?”
“Mrs. Conway, then.” They were past pretending to polite, but he might as well be correct. "Yes, that is what the records say, isn't it." Seb hadn't looked into Jim, but he had done some digging. Just to see what he could find. He'd looked less at her, still trying to keep from directly disobeying Jim's wishes, but the brother had been an opportunity. “I did, didn't I. It's still true, but at the same time you did say it could take a while. You seemed less bothered by time limits at the beginning of this.” Which meant most likely that he'd offended her. Which he'd been trying to do, to be fair. “Neither of those were direct threats, Mrs. Conway, but neither of us have time to argue semantics. You rudely marched in here, implied that I was courting scandal and have since mentioned cutting Jim off from his daughter as well as the possibility to take all of this to court. You're hardly innocent.”
Here was the choice. They were at the rumor stage of the plan. Technically they'd been more or less together for a year by now, but no one else knew that. “You said you read the news - if they're to be believed, then I think you have your answer - that it all came together after his track.” A breadcrumb. “Moira would perhaps tell you that over a year ago, I was in charge of driving him to and from one of our family's gatherings.” And another breadcrumb dropped. If she wanted to pick them up, follow the trail, she could. Everything he'd said was true in its own way. The interpretation was up to her.
One of Kate's eyebrows went up. “If all I was interested in was second-hand gossip and the suppositions of the press,” she said coolly. “Do you think I'd be here? No. So, it doesn't take an Oxford-educated intellect to infer that what I would like to hear is the truth, straight from the horse's mouth, as it were. An alien concept to you maybe, but I’ll wait if I have to.” And so saying, she slipped out of her coat and sat back down, making a show of settling in for a long stalemate. “How did a politician and a musician who has publicly lambasted him on more than one occasion become a serious item?” Her tone was cold, but she was genuinely curious. Not so much in the how, though, more the, why this man, James? What the hell does someone like you see in him?
That had gotten her back, at least. Sebastian sat as well. “I haven’t lied to you, Mrs Conway,” he replied. He had perhaps misrepresented the truth, omitted, assumed, but he hadn't outright lied just yet. And sure, he'd threatened too, but only vaguely. “And did you ask Jim for the truth?” That was - though perhaps a bit of an attack - mostly just curiosity. “Or is he next? Making sure we can't coordinate our stories?” That was an unfair accusation, but he saw no reason to play fair with her. He shrugged, seemingly relaxed. “Maybe it's the public lambasting that makes it fun,” he replied, trying to think of just what he could or should tell her. She didn't deserve the details of their relationship - certainly no more than the general public did. “As much as it may shock you, we get along well. I think we represent a bit of a challenge to each other, and that's what keeps things interesting.”
