there's a music video idea I have and I really want to make it happen. every time I see cool videos and stuff, there's always a very long list of people who worked on it. I don't have that. I have to do it all myself. so it will never work out the way I want because I just physically can't move the camera around to film and act at the same time. but i've given up so many ideas because i don't have friends and can't split in half. I have no choice but to do this alone if I dont want to give up on another idea, but it will be so bad compared to my actual idea 😭

and as for quality time he finds it quite peaceful to be around someone who’s not such a weirdo for once

and even if you are one, for some reason he can tolerate your strange behavior way better than he can your friends 😂

and it’s practically a requirement that every saiki k hcs have—you two will eat coffee jelly together

Sorry abt the big ask, but your colours are always really vibrant and interesting! They seem both saturated and subdued. What’s your general method for choosing them or are there any tricks/layer modes you use?

Thank you! This is gonna be a long one sorry😭

My favorite digital art trick for color is the curves tool! In procreate you press the wand tool in the top left corner (Adjustments) > Curves. I recommend just playing around with this until something you like happens.

Here’s a study I did with pretty standard colors.

Here are some versions of it after moving the curves around.

What I like about this is it’s a really quick way of changing the color scheme that’s more precise than applying a filter. It lets you see how far you can push things outside of what’s expected!

When I first started digital art I had so much trouble with color because unlike traditional, the colors have the ability to be fully opaque. With traditional if you’re doing a painting the paints/colored pencils/etc will naturally mix with one another creating a more cohesive overall image.

Here’s a drawing I did in 2020. As you can see it’s incredibly saturated. When I was picking colors I was working in the most saturated section for nearly every color.

These days even when I’m trying to make something super colorful I’ll force myself to desaturate it more than I think I need to. There are two ways to desaturate something. You can move it towards white or towards black.

Another thing I try to keep in mind is that colors look different based on what colors are around them. If you put gray next to a color it will look like that color’s complement. If you put a warm color next to a cool color they’ll amplify one another making both look more intense. In that same way if I put a super saturated color against a more neutral background the color will look even brighter.

I like this tapestry by Sheila Hicks. See how the orange is glowing against the more muted purples and blues?

Another thing I try to keep in mind is value. Like color it’s influenced by its surroundings. If you place a lighter color over a dark background it will look brighter than over a light background.

So in a piece the eye will be drawn to the areas of highest contrast first. And area that’s similar in both value and hue will recede into the background.

I really am not an expert on color I have so much to learn. I recommend Marco Bucci’s videos as well as the book The Art of Color if you’d like more detailed+accurate info! Color theory is the most fascinating thing I’m obsessed with it.

You don’t really need to know theory to be good at color though! Just playing around and figuring out what you like (I LOVE PURPLE) will make you better!

The most satisfying thing is when you’re making a drawing and you decide to add a little gray or a little orange or whatever and suddenly your piece just starts to SING!!!! (That purple/blue/orange part of the Sheila Hicks tapestry is singing to me it will forever make me happy)

okay full transparency this is entirely self indulgent but i don't mind sharing!! it's just that i don't really Know how to do rendering or whatever it is that makes digital art look cool, so i always end up stuck when i try to draw something colourful. anyway this is what i have so far!!

i think the one time i really succeeded with what i was going for is that one satan drawing, which i still have yet to top, but i wanted to try something new here. i should probably look at art tutorials or something but there's something fun about mindlessly playing around with settings and blend modes

(in one of his fnaf vr 2 videos markiplier decides to do the music man mini-game entirely by ear instead of using the visual cues to help him and that's basically how i do things. it's working a little bit. well i'm having fun at least)

while i'm not sure if i'll come back to it i'm happy you've shown interest! i should get back to writing chapter 48 now... (i promise it's on its way but i ended up cutting a lot of chunks, so now i have to re-tie the scenes lol)

so as someone who is only on chapter one of omori and is obsessed with it here are my thoughts as a new member of the fandom

bear in mind that i haven’t finished the game. i only just got to that one creepy forest place? like the one after the spiders? please don’t spoil!!

but spoilers for everything before that below

1) I HATE BASIL. he’s such a stupid little punk. “uwu im so smol and helpless and i always get bullied and i’m so sweet and innocent” I JUST KNOW THAT FUCKER IS HIDING SOMETHING. everytime i end back in that stupid white room it’s because HES DOING SOME SUSSY SHIT. i also just hate him and everything about him and i know for a damn fact that he’s hiding something horrible behind that sweet little smile and he thinks he’s tricking me but he’s NOT I KNOW HIS GAME.

anyway.

2) i literally cannot decide on a favorite character. i have a least favorite, that’s pretty obvious, but when it comes to a favorite im torn. i LOVE omori, aubrey, kel, and hero all the same! i love mari too but i’m a little salty against her because all her hints for the quests are severely unhelpful 😭 but i still love her tho. i just love the main four so so much and i physically cant choose who i like better. poor little aubrey seems so scared and alone when she has the pink hair and she’s so kind in the little space world thing. hero is a sweetheart and i can’t wait to meet him in the colorful world where i’m moving or whatever. and kel is literally so me 😂 it’s not even funny he just does whatever the fuck he wants and that deserves some respect on his name. and omori is a kickass main character who has a cool thing going for him. but these four characters are sooo well crafted and i love how they work together! it’s a great dynamic balance!

3) i’m either a really bad gamer or the game is super long. i finished the prologue in like seven hours. it took SO LONG. i’m not used to indie games taking that long to play considering that i got through all of undertale in like 10-12 hours my first time. it’s awesome! i love finding all the secrets and talking to all the npcs but DAMNNN.

4) this game has so. much. detail. it’s insane. like the sheer amount of mini games and tiny pockets of lore. it’s like higher than undertale level and i don’t mean to keep going back to undertale but i see a lot of similarities in the game style. i also totally got sucked into playing like 30 rounds of blackjack on omoris computer. it was cool af.

5) the fighting mechanics are super hard. maybe i just suck at strategy but i am so bad at the fights that i just run away whenever i have the opportunity 😭 it’s a problem. i also have no clue how the happy sad angry shit works, i just make omori sad so stab has an attack boost and make aubrey angry so headbutt has an attack boost but other than that i don’t really use it at all and i don’t understand it. maybe that’s why it took me literally 10 tries to get past space ex boyfriend? it’s really fun i just think it’s supposed to be easier than it is and i just missed a memo on strategy.

6) i really love the message so far. the way that mental health is portrayed as something that’s a never ending journey. omori doesn’t just breathe and then everything’s okay, the game highlights realistic coping strategies and makes things like depression, anxiety, and phobias to understandable for any audience through a very creative medium: an indie video game. it’s genius. and i just love how it’s been approached so far, it’s very inspiring!

7) i’m terrified that this fandom is gonna make me mad, i swear to god if i just walk in and see a bunch of basil stan’s i’m turning and walking back out 💀 i mean okay maybe i’ll like basil better later but chances for that seem very low right now. my sister told me that apparently he went through some trauma thing? womp womp don’t care he’s an annoying mf who keeps taking me back to that boring white room where i stab myself, he’s a party pooper and i want a tornado to blow his dumb little flower house down.

Annnnd also, very important update on Aislynn's Borked Up Computer...

Still borked up but Georgette (the computer) and I are working out a system:

Turn computer on

Pray it does not blow up

Thank God when it does not blow up

Check to make sure that all of the drivers are still correct and haven't been "helpfully" rolled back by Windows, Dell, the demon who apparently infected a bunch of Dells at the factory level, etc.

Try not to stare at the Nvidia light every time it comes on

Remind self it's okay for the Nvidia light to be on because it's, you know, the graphics card and does have legit things to do

Check Windows Reliability Monitor

Check the health and temperature of the C drive

Check the time

Those last two are important because in about an hour to 2 hours, Georgette will begin to just feel off in some way. Go back and check health and temp. Completely shut down computer if temp has raised (which, to be fair, I think the temp going up, like, 1 degree is normal with use but it's just something I can look at and makes me feel more like I have some sort of control).

If we make it to 2 hours up time without a problem, shut down anyway.

Leave off for a while. Switch to Fire tablet with its awesome, new $9 Bluetooth keyboard \o/ 🥳🤷‍♀️😉and spend some time writing the next chapter of whatever fic I'm working on (currently "15 Minutes" chapter 9) in a Tumblr draft.

Eventually come back to computer and turn it on again. Weirdly now, it should feel a little steadier than the first "session" and can run as long as 10 hours without feeling like it's about to fall over, explode, or all of the above. I do not understand why this is but... it is. 🤷‍♀️

Try not to keep looking at the Nvidia light every time it comes on but, for Pete's sake, that looked so cool when I first got Georgette, like she was some Fancy Gaming PC™️ and now it just gives me anxiety.

Eventually shut down and feel like it was a Good Computer Day if we made it through without a blue screen event.

I'd ideally like to get an entire week with no blue screening, then please, Dear Lord, a whole month, then I want to try installing Steam again. This may end very badly because I know the computer is NOT stable but she's more stable than before. I just want to play Halo again, friends. I miss it so, so much.

I also want this computer, which has so much potential to be a genuinely amazing gaming/vidding rig, to live up to that, one day. 64GBs of RAM should not go into vapors and die because I'm watching a video on Youtube while checking my email. That's just wrong. 😭I know Georgette can be a great PC, can make up for this incredibly rough first 7 weeks of her life. We just need to get this dang BIOS/OS/driver/whatever Incompatibility Demon out of her.

Robin furrows her brows at you. “Huh?”

“He’s been glaring at me all night,” you say, shifting on your feet. You didn’t want to go to a stupid party anyway, but Steve’s dark eyes following you around is only making you more uncomfortable.

She makes eye contact with Steve, who quickly looks away, suddenly interested in the conversation happening beside him. She nods and takes a drink of her lemonade. “He’s not glaring.”

“I think I can tell -“

“As much as I hate to say this - and, believe me, I really hate that I even know this - those are Steve’s … bedroom eyes.” She sticks her tongue out and makes a gagging noise. “It’s how he looks at anything remotely interesting that walks into Family Video.”

You pause, your brows now furrowed. “But he looks mad.”

“Steve Harrington works in mysterious ways,” Robin says, pushing off the wall. “Now I need to go clear my head of this absolutely devastating conversation.”

You stare down at your own cup for a bit, head reeling, and you can feel his eyes back on you. This time, you work up enough courage to stare right back at him - and, yeah, maybe Robin’s right. When you’re not looking away a millisecond after making eye contact, you can see he doesn’t look mad. He almost looks like he’s concentrating. His tongue darts out to wet his lips and you see his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallows. His eyes are darker than usual, hooded, and they’re trained directly onto you. He actually does a once-over of your body before slowly lifting his drink to his lips.

You have to look away or you might melt.

You walk off in another direction, towards the kitchen to pour yourself some more fucked-up juice concoction. Your head spins and you wonder how drunk Steve must be to be looking at you like that.

“Hi.”

You nearly drop the ladle when you hear his voice. You tilt your head to look at him, but the proximity makes your legs weak. “Hey, Steve.”

He just keeps looking at you.

“Can I get you something?” you ask, smiling nervously.

“I’m alright,” he says, smiling back at you. It’s warm and friendly, like usual Steve. It makes you relax a bit, shoulders loosening. “Just wanted to come see you.”

“Think you’ve been seeing a lot of me tonight,” you say.

Steve chuckles and moves in closer. “Don’t think I’ve seen enough, actually.”

Steve doesn’t even smell like alcohol. Or weed. It makes you more confused and has your stomach twisting with excitement.

“Have you tried any punch?” you ask, trying to get to the bottom of it.

“Only had a beer,” he answers. “I’ve been interested in something else.”

Stop fucking blushing, ya goddamn idiot, you think to yourself, turning back to the punch glass even though your cup is full. “Oh yeah?” you ask timidly, stupidly.

“Yeah,” he says, leaning forward, pressing his lips right against your ear. “I’m really interested in seeing what’s under all these clothes.”

You really might pass out. Genuinely. You can picture falling to the floor and the punch bowl coming down right after you and completely ruining whatever blessed you on this night. But it doesn’t happen, and Steve doesn’t move out of your way - just wraps an arm around your waist to pull you in a little closer. “It’s a little hot in here,” he says quietly, “maybe we can go somewhere to cool down?”

“Yeah,” you say after a few seconds of stunned silence. “Yeah. It’s - yeah. Uh huh.”

He smiles into your cheek. “Let’s take a walk to my car, huh?”

holy shit the hazbin hotel show. wow. incredible. very neat that they went for an almost-musical style because they had so much lore

BY THE WAY! this is a going to be a LONG, ramble-y, spoiler-filled post, so i'm going to put a readmore here and my thoughts on the show will be under the cut. if you don't want to be spoiled for the Hazbin Hotel Official Show TM or don't like hazbin hotel... probably don't read the rest of this post lmao
