From Consumers of Mental Health WA:
The State Government’s inaction on their election promises is causing mental health harm to the LGBTQIA+ community. Not acting now risks further politicisation of LGBTQIA+ identity during the election, causing further harm to community mental health.
Rainbow Futures has a campaign you can act on now called the 'Prioritise LGBTIQA+ Law Reform in WA Campaign', where you can send an email template to your MP requesting they take action on law reform before the 2025 election.
Rainbow Futures is also involved in the 'Gender Recognition Now Campaign' to call on the Attorney General to abolish the gender reassignment board as promised over 12 months ago by Labor.
Find out more here.

There was NO mention whatsoever in the Premier's statement on Tuesday about LGBTQIA+ reforms. Earlier this week Roger Cook outlined the WA Government's agenda for the last sitting year before the election - and the LGBTQIA community was not mentioned. No hint at any interest in abolishing the Gender Reassignment Board or banning conversion therapy or protecting queer staff/students at religious schools or protecting intersex children from unnecessary medical procedures. Nothing. None of that.
Clearly, Roger Cook and the WA Labor government don't care about the LGBTQIA+ community and clearly we need to tell him that's not good enough by emailing him: [email protected]

When people on here bring up the positives of walkable cities or 15-minute cities or cities optimised for biking and public transport instead of cars, the next question is always the question of accessibility. And that's a good thing: a truly livable city must take the needs of disabled citizens into account, and use curb cuts and ramps and elevators and low-floor wheelchair accessible public transport and whatever else that's necessary to make sure they can navigate the city with ease.
But I kinda hate that people are so used to car-centric cities that they are quick to think of the people who can drive but not walk, and very slow to think of the people who can walk but not drive. Yes, there are people who can drive, but cannot walk (or cannot safely walk) even a mile or so. But there are also people who can walk (or given some curb cuts, wheel) significant distances, but will not ever be able to drive. There's a huge range of sensory, motor and mental impairments that prevent someone from driving but not from walking, and that group also eventually includes a lot of the elderly. There's a huge bunch of people capable of living independently if there's a grocery store within walking distance, who end up very vulnerable and possibly institutionalised if there isn't.
