Since I’m on a Thor Love and Thunder kick and a sucker for angst, here are some Jane Foster’s funeral headcanons
Valkyrie was waiting for Thor’s arrival, and was there to support him when he returned to New Asgard without Jane.
Thor is in a bit of shock, not exactly sure what to do with Love combined with the loss of Jane.
He’s only been to one earth funeral, so he has a general idea of what needs to be done.
Val offers to get Love settled so Thor can do what he has to. She soon gains that title of Aunt Val.
The first one he goes to see is Doctor Erik Selvig.
Erik is shocked to see him at first, he hasn’t seen Thor in 8 years. Then he realizes what happened when he sees Thor’s grim expression.
He invites Thor in for a cup of tea
The two sit in silence for a bit before Thor extends an invite to her memorial in New Asgard.
He leaves not long after.
Thor then goes and sees Jane’s other family members. He lets them know of the arrangements and to let anyone else know.
Except for one more person he has to see.
Darcy knows something is up when Jane misses her treatment.
She pays attention to the news and her phone as the days pass with no response from her best friend.
By day 3 Darcy goes to Jane’s home/lab and finds a book on Norse mythology left open.
She laughs to herself, now knowing that Jane is in good hands.
She’s watching TV when a sudden thunder storm begins outside her house, the rain beating down on her roof violently.
She knows what happened before she even opened the door. Only one thing could cause a storm this dark.
At the actual funeral…
Many show up at the memorial. Scientists from all around the world, friends, colleagues and family.
Funerals are for the living.
Pepper Potts shows up, Morgan Stark in tow.
She offers her condolences, and some single parenting advice.
They understand each other in a way.
Morgan sits with Love, showing her the best toys Earth has to offer.
Bruce Banner arrives as well. Thor doesn’t even notice that he’s no longer smart hulk.
An elderly man no one pays attention to sits in the back.
A white figure floats in the mountainside, trying to understand one of his creator’s feeling of grief.
Jimmy Woo arrives alone.
He motions to the sky when Darcy greets him.
He stands next to her the entire service. Offering his support as much as possible.
Erik gives a speech about Jane’s brilliance, how she was a fighter until the end.
Valkyrie explains that New Asgard will dedicate a statue to The Mighty Thor in honor of her bravery when saving the children.
Darcy covers a snort at the name.
Later that night, Thor gets drunk after Love is asleep.
He decides he must honor Jane with a tattoo as well.
This isn’t the only version of him with the tattoo.

Also btw if Loki gets wound up in multiverse hijinks and the final protagonist isn’t a version of himself or some overestimated gag then it has to be Thor. Thematically

I appreciate the way that I can have my emotional needs met in anime. In a way that I will never have in real life. I have watched Vinland Saga 3 times and will more in the future. Every time I see Helga and Thorfinn’s interaction in S2 Ep 24 where she smiles with tears in her eyes and touches Thorfinn’s face, looks at him with love and joy that he’s with her again. And Helga cries and he cries because it’s the first time in 15 years since he felt a soft touch, felt his mom’s hand and it makes me bawl because I will never have that. I have been separated by my mom for over 15 years too, due to death and I will never get to see my mom as an old grandma smile and her wrinkles crease, with all her grandkids gathered around her. I won’t get to hold her worn, hardworking hands and tell her I’m sorry in this life. But thanks to anime, thanks to Vinland Saga, I can experience a little bit of that through Thorfinn and Helga and that means more to me than I can express.

I just realized 2/3 of the great magicians have a vonnection to nero, one is his friend and teammate and the other is his professor... does thor saving nero's ass count as having a connectiom to him lmao
#which makes me fucking insane#nero and ulysses aren't close they're simply student and teacher in lune they haven't interacted 1-on-1 at all#but the fact that ulysses and nero are teacher and student breaks me bc of the fact that the white sage was the hero of fraxinus' teacher#like man it would be heartbreaking if nero and ulysses were close lol#this time it's not the teacher and the student... but trusted friends.#oh this is.... a similar situation to airi#airi doesn't really have a connection to ulysses but both maki and thor are her guardians and makia as oda was her best friend in the past#meanwhile nero doesn't have a connection to thor but ulysses is a professor/teacher of his and makia is his yrusted companiom#not only that both airi and nero are related to kanon in some way. kanon being nero's brother & him being the one who sent airi to maydare#which.... those two meeting and talking about makia alone in one place is something#never forget airi asking him if he likes makia lmao dude's just plain confused#but i think it's kind of meaningful...... that kanom brought airi to maydare when she's at her worst state mentally while nero#nero was thw one who was there to confirm whether makia really was oda kazuha or not.#nero's the one who knows makia while airi was the one who knows oda kazuha#him saying things about makia and airi confirming that makia really was kazuha through nero....#kanon sent her to maydare at her worst and being a blessed child by all made her worse that she already have- a child blessed by all have#fragile minds. nero's words about makia was the thing to clear airi's mind... the thing is everyone in team 9 was there when thor said airi#ran away to makia. all of them were there. the one who stayed at the atelier could have been frey or lapis or really the three of them#but NO. only nero stayed. nero being the one to confirm and clear airi's mind about makia and kazuha have significance i believe it does.#i love it.... i didn't think i have to think about that chapter so much but here i am. yknow what's funny.. if nero actually does have some#kind of affection for makia more than friends bc#oda kazuha's friend who have unrequited love due to her falling in love with her childhood friend saito tooru#and makia o'drielle's friend who never shown hints of interest to her because he already knows she loves her previous knight thor bigreitz#i know nero doesn't canonically have feelings for makia but it's funny to think about#i want nero and airi to interact more.#i want to know if nero knew what kanon is and is capable of. i want to know if he knew that it was kanon who sent airi to maydare.#sylhea talks maydare#hehe... this is so fun. typing out my thoughts in the tags again making newspaper tags.. it really is so fun. thank you maydare tensei mon

HIII i am begging can you write a Peter Parker x reader one shot where peter and reader are married and have a toddler and maybe the avengers team find out PLISSSS ANS TYYYY 🫶🫶🫶
baby 🥺
pairing ➳ peter parker x reader
requests are open (but i barely write stuff)
masterlist
Tumblr media
“what is he doing on the ceiling?!” kate yelled as soon as you entered the lobby, searching for your little toddler ben. you rubbed your eyes as you approached a very baffled kate, “your child is on the ceiling! how are you so calm?!”
“it’s 7 in the morning.” you winced as you looked at ben, him giving you an excited look and extended his arm towards you, making you do the same, “come on, benny, come to mama.”
and he did so as, un-sticking himself from the wall as he perfectly landed in your arms.
your two year old was way better at this than peter when he had started out as spider-man. his hand kept getting stuck to different places and after a bunch of ripped t-shirts and a couple of haircuts, you bought him rubber gloves. however, that didn’t work either.
as your little boy nestled against your chest, you looked over to kate who still had surprise written all over her face, “he’s spider-man’s child.” you explained simply.
“but- what if he fell down?”
“oh, he wouldn’t. he’s way too smart for that, aren’t you, benny?” you booped his nose and he gave you a grin.
“yes, mommy.”
you and peter had kept your relationship secret for a couple of years, at least from peter’s superhero gang. so it didn’t come off as a surprise when the avengers found out that you two had a one year old. they were very disappointed in you two for not telling this big a thing but the second they saw ben’s cute little face and his smile, you were forgiven and everyone was happy.
when you agreed to move into the avenger’s tower, tony was more than excited. he added a bunch of toys to the huge playroom that was originally built for morgan.
you were surprised to see that thor was the most attached to your baby. he spent time with him and thursdays were reserved to thor and ben taking a tour of the city. you trusted thor, however you had only allowed this after ben turned two, which was only a few weeks ago.
whenever natasha was around, she would tell ben all kinds of stories about how she kicked bad people’s butts so that little kids could sleep peacefully at night and ben would adore those “tales” even though they were real.
“next time you find him on a ceiling, just show him a cookie, he’ll come right down.” you told kate as you patted ben’s back, gently lulling him back to sleep.
“if you say so.” kate replied, chuckling as she watched you for a minute, “you should get some more sleep too, you look tired.”
“he refused to sleep last night because tony let him have extra ice-cream.” you rolled your eyes.
you noticed ben had fallen asleep, already drooling over the material of your t-shirt as you carried him back to his crib, placing him securely under his blanket before you made your way to your own bed. your husband, peter was still fast asleep. you laid down on the bed, peter already pulling you closer as if it was a reflex. you felt his arm relax against you, his head resting close to your shoulder and soon you felt the soft caress of sleep take over.
the bedside clock showed 10:34 as time when your eyes opened again. the room was empty, peter and ben both gone. you quickly freshened up before making your way out of the room and into the main gathering area once again.
only this time you were greeted with everyone sitting around and laughing as steve held his shield on his lap with ben sitting on top of it.
“hey, babe.” peter was the first one they greeted you as he placed a kiss on your cheek and dragged you in the middle of whatever was happening.
“uh, what’s happening?” you asked, looking around.
“your child is stuck to cap’s shield.” tony said, an almost proud smile spread over his face to which steve gave him a glare.
“guess who inspired it.” natasha rolled her eyes at her two friends, however a small smile remained on her face at the little banter going on.
just then kate ran into the room, holding a cookie in her hand as she handed it to steve, “got it!”
“come on, kid.” steve said, waving around the cookie in the air in front of him. ben’s eyes lit up and steve smiled, “it’s yours if you leave the shield.”
however, cap’s efforts failed as ben reached out one hand to grab the sweet but didn’t move a bit to release his shield.
“i bribed him good.” tony shrugged as he sipped on his black coffee.
you watched the whole scene unfold, amused to say the least. you noticed peter snickering as he stood beside you. you smacked his chest lightly, “you think this is funny? go get your child.”
“and forget the spider-bike mr stark promised me? never.”

You know what I think would be neat?
Loki, the Sky Walker himself, when he fell beyond the trees branches but before that Purple fucker could get him... felt A path, much like the hidden ones he'd wandered for YEARS, and franticly tries to catch himself.
After all, he let go in a moment of incredible emotional distress. But that moment passes. The fear kicks in. The natural, strategist's, "survival at all costs" primal drive starts SCREAMING. You grab for the ledge. Try to STOP your fall.
But~!
What if? What he was FEELING?
Was a Natural Fuckin Portal.
And Loki is no slouch! He manages to change his trajectory. His mind is still in shambles, he's an emotional wreck, mascara probably running, just? Having THE WORST month or so of his life. He's too pretty for this bullshit, he would insist, if he wasn't FALLING THROUGH THE VOID.
He's made some choices.
They may have been ill advised.
Possibly even terrible ideas, actually.
But he's come too far to die NOW. And if his brother's insane adventures and hare brained schemes haven't killed him, then THIS sure as shit won't be putting him in an graves. He refuses to allow it.
He expects to slam face first into alien dirt. At speed. It? Is going to HURT, he knows.
But that is not what happens.
He passes through a yawning portal, into Veridian skys, and slams face first into the back of passing youth. Knock BOTH of them from the sky and through several nearby floating islands.
He nearly gets punched for it.
The boy only stopping, fist merely moments from his faces, when he seems to finally register the state Loki is in. The next thing Loki knows? He's being rushed off Yeti healers. A FUSS is being made.
The youth is strong arming him into being a guest in his... frankly ALARMING home.
Loki likes the Gothic one. She seems like she bites. But the boy's parents BAFFLE him. The boy, "Danny" just? Showed up with him? And declared he was a "visiting Fenton Cousin"? SURELY that can not WORK! Boy, they are your PARENTS, they know better then YOU who is and is not rela-.....
How did that work.
No, HOW DID THAT WORK? Child answer me. And explain the violent cold meats.
Just? Loki, intellectually stimulated, like a cat in a fresh new environment. Removed from stressors. Not the strongest being around by far, but enjoying the challenge none the less. Fulfilling his life long trained role of "king's advisory" in an almost relaxed Highly Sarcastic Uncle On Vacation Who Is Also A Semi-Feral Cat sorta way to this new Child King he found.
Loved and respected for Being Loki. Just Loki. No preconceived notions to fulfill, no roles he must play, just... Be Loki.
Best part? Asgard and Thor and such? Irrelevant! Their own closed system far, far away. He's finally FREE of the shadow Asgard casts. He's taken "starting over in a new country to escape a toxic home life" to a whole new weight class unique just to him. The dude is THRIVING.
And? I bet he REALLY enjoys tormenting Vlad.

“I had him, Barnes!” You yelled, panting.
“No you didn’t. You could barely-” That’s when he heard it, the noise he’s been hearing all week.
“I could barely what, huh?” You asked.
“Nothing.” He clears his throat. “Let’s just finish this mission so we can go to the safe house.” He says, gently nudging you in the direction you two need to go.
Bucky thought he had been hearing things all week. He has been hearing a little thumping noise. He only hears it when he’s around you which is weird, considering that you two don’t get along. He’s been trying to figure out what the noise is and it’s driving him crazy. That was the only thing on his mind as you two finished the mission and went to the safe house. It didn’t take long for realization to hit him. The little thumping noise he has been hearing all week is a heartbeat of an unborn baby. Meaning, you’re pregnant with his child. Bucky remembered the one time you and him had sex. You two got drunk off of Asgardian alcohol Thor gave you and him at Tony’s party a few weeks ago, making his eyes widen.
“Oh my god.” Bucky says to himself.
Bucky ran his fingers through his hair as he paced back and forth in the bedroom. If you knew, you would’ve told him, right? You wouldn’t keep something this important from him, would you? Or maybe you don’t know it yet. Instead of jumping to conclusions, he laid down on the bed and tried to relax, but that got him nowhere. He just stared up at the ceiling. Bucky already knew that he wasn’t going to get any sleep that night so he just tried to relax. He turned the TV on for background noise to drown out his thoughts. He soon fell asleep. A few hours later, he woke up from his dreamless sleep. A sigh left his lips as he got out of bed to get something to drink. He stopped in his tracks, hearing the heartbeat of his unborn child coming from your bedroom. Bucky was tempted to go in your room to hear the heartbeat better, but he didn’t want to wake you. He went to the kitchen and got some water and went back to his room. Bucky laid down on the bed and stared at the ceiling once again till he fell asleep. When morning came, he woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the sun shining through the curtains. Bucky rubbed his eyes to wake himself up more before getting out of bed. He went to the kitchen, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion when the smell of coffee didn’t instantly hit his nose.
“You didn’t make coffee?” Bucky asks, slightly annoyed.
“No.” You took a sip of your orange juice. “For some reason, it’s been making me nauseous for the past couple weeks.” You tell him.
Bucky’s breath got caught in his throat when you mentioned being nauseous.
“That’s weird.” He says, clearing his throat.
Bucky got a cup from the cabinet and poured himself some orange juice. He went to the living room and sat down next to you.
“Just out of curiosity…” Bucky took a sip of his orange juice before asking his question. “Does anything else make you nauseous?” He asks curiously.
“Now that I think about it, some of my favorite foods have been making me feel sick lately.” You answered. “Wait a minute. We don’t like each other. Why are you asking me this?” You asked, looking at him.
Bucky shrugged his shoulders and took another sip of his orange juice.
“Are you thinking I’m pregnant?” You asked.
“What? No. I’m not thinking that at all.” He says, lying through his teeth.
That’s when Bucky heard the little heartbeats again. He glanced down at your stomach, listening to the heartbeat of his unborn child.
“Either you have a staring problem or you know something I don’t.” You say.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He says, moving his eyes away from your stomach.
“You’re a terrible liar.” You tell him. “Tell me what’s going on before I interrogate you.” You say, turning your body to face him.
“Last time I checked, you’re not a detective or a cop.” He says, standing up and went to the kitchen.
“I was trained in that area, Barnes.” You followed him to the kitchen. “I’m going to ask you again, do you know something I don’t?” You asked, crossing your arms over your chest.
Bucky gave in with a sigh and turned to face you.
“Heartbeats.” Is all he said.
“You mean our heartbeats?” You asked.
“Not ours. An unborn baby’s heartbeat.” He says.
“What do you mean an unborn baby’s heartbeat? I’m not-” You stopped to think for a moment. “I’m not pregnant. Am I?” You say, more to yourself.
You kept thinking. You haven’t gotten your period in two months and most of your favorite foods and drinks make you nauseous. Some of your clothes don’t fit you like they used to. Your mind started to wander to the time you and Bucky had sex. That was two months ago as well. You two got drunk on Asgardian alcohol Thor gave you guys and neither of you thought to use a condom when you guys had sex. As you were putting the pieces together, it was beginning to make sense.
“Maybe I am pregnant.” That’s when your eyes widen in realization. “Oh my god.” You whispered. “I’ve been taking a lot of hits during this mission. What if- What if I did something to hurt the baby?” You say, looking at Bucky with tears in your eyes.
“Hey, don’t go there.” Bucky cooes, wrapping his arms around you. “You didn’t know, doll. I’m sure the baby is fine.” He says softly, rubbing your back to calm you down.
Bucky stood in the kitchen, holding you in his arms till you said something.
“How can we raise a baby together if we don’t get along?” You asked, looking up at him.
“We’ll figure something out.” He says, moving a piece of your hair from your face.
“What about the mission? I obviously can’t finish this mission in the condition I’m in.” You say.
“We’ll call Steve later and figure something out. As of right now, let’s get you comfortable.” He says.
Bucky lead you to his bedroom. You got underneath the blanket while Bucky stared at your stomach for a moment.
“Can I listen to the heartbeat?” Bucky asks.
“Of course you can. It’s your baby too.” You say with a smile.
You took the blanket off of you and moved your t-shirt just above your stomach. Bucky’s eyes filled with adoration when he seen your baby bump beginning to form. He laid down on the bed next to you and pressed his ear against your stomach, smiling when he heard the baby’s heartbeat.
“What’s it like?” You asked curiously.
“It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.” Bucky says, completely astonished.
You couldn’t help but reach a hand down, running your fingers through his hair. Bucky hummed at the feeling.
“You know…” Bucky starts. “I’ve always wanted a daughter. That was in the 40s and I still want that now.” He tells you.
“Wanna know something?” You asked. “I’ve always wanted a daughter too.” You say with a smile.
A smile grew on his face. What Bucky did next surprised both of you. He leaned up and kissed you passionately.
“Sorry.” He mumbles, pulling away.
“No need to be sorry. I’m pregnant with your baby. You get to kiss me all you want.” You say, cupping his scruffy cheeks and rubbed your thumbs over his beard.
“Well, in that case…” Bucky kissed you again. “A kiss for my doll and…” He moves down to your stomach. “A kiss for our little one.” He says, kissing your stomach.
“You really think we can work this out?” You asked.
“For the sake of the baby, I hope we can.” He says, lying down next to you.
Bucky wrapped his arms around you protectively and pulled you closer to him, placing one of his hands on your stomach. You and Bucky spent the rest of the day cuddling and talking out your differences so you two can raise this baby together.

‘The Sandman’ Season 2 Episode Titles and Episode Count Revealed
The Sandman Season 2 is set to have 12 episodes, and Netflix may release them as two volumes, with six episodes each. The news comes via a profile update on Independent Talent for director Jamie Childs, who will serve as executive producer for the new season.
Netflix has yet to confirm this, but in recent years, the streamer has released anticipated seasons of TV series in two volumes. Stranger Things received the two-volume treatment, for example.
Then, we have the titles for six episodes of The Sandman Season 2. For those who know the comics, these reveal a good amount of information regarding where the second season is headed.
Here are the episode titles for the second season of The Sandman. We have only six of them so far, and with 12 in total, we think these could be Vol 1.
In no particular order:
The Song of Orpheus, named after the special issue of the same name. Needless to say, this one will focus on Ruairi O’Connor’s Orpheus
More Devils Than Vast Hell Can Hold, referencing the issue A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Brief Lives, named after the issue of the same name
Family Blood, likely referencing “spilling family blood”, something Dream seeks to avoid
The Ruler of Hell, referencing Gwendoline Christie’s Lucifer. Or perhaps Hell will have a new ruler? We won’t spoil.
Season of Mists, named after the comic collection of the same name. Previously mentioned Odin, Thor and Loki are most likely to appear in this episode.
The second season of The Sandman still has no official release date, but we’re not expecting a return in 2024. Indeed, it was left out of Netflix’s 2024 slate reveal in February, and 2025 seems to be the most realistic release schedule. Despite that, we’ve already had many casting reveals for season 2 so far, with more to come (more this week, in fact!), and filming is expected to wrap by August 31st, 2024.

Firestarter (Loki x Reader)
Summary: After having been granted safe passage to the Avengers’ head quarters, Loki’s delighted to learn that he can pass the time by toying with the hate of the newest recruit.
Tropes: Enemies to lovers.
Words: 4.2K
Warnings: smut, mentions of battle injuries
Find part 2 here
Tumblr media
They would all be fools to trust him. They know it. Loki knows it. Hell, even the specs of dust floating around know it!
The only one that seems eager to patch up the growing rift between the opposite sides of the room is the meathead of his brother who is blabbering away, trying hard to ignore the cold air coming from the other Avengers.
He's persistent, you'd have to give him that. They must really love Thor to grant Loki safe passage in their home like this.
- The stab of a thought hits Loki straight in the chest. Sticks to his ribs as he contemplates the sharp hate radiating off of the cotton-clad team opposite him. They don't look the least bit threatening in their oversized casual wear, but they've still granted his brother the upper hand so graciously, and for the first time in a while, he feels the balancing scales tip. It was easier when it was just the three idiots Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg who were fawning over his brother - Sif on occasion too, though Loki had had her in multiple ways Thor could never even wrap his pea-sized brain around.
The thought alone makes the tar on his ribs slowly drip away.
He must've drifted off, lost in thought of Sif with her bare ass in the air because the next thing he registers is Thor's meaty hand between his shoulder blades. "You all know my brother..." he chuckles awkwardly and pushes Loki forwards. Adds his name for clarification when nobody answers. Idiot.
The room's almost dead-silent. Stark scoffs theatrically loud and that Barton fellow turns a lovely shade of plum as he immediately races out of the room without uttering a single word - not that Loki can really blame him; he's killed for less.
Even the newbies on the team are staring daggers at him, though Loki doubts he's ever met any of them before; Captain Rogers' brooding siamese twin, the beefed up action figure beside him and that... woman - the pretty one - her eyes ablaze with a certain kind of hatred that he can physically feel down his spine as she scowls in his direction.
Loki cocks an eyebrow, amused that his reputation precedes him so much that her hate is tangible, and she huffs and pushes through the crowd while the one with the metal arm - the siamese twin - grabs her shoulder to prevent her from stepping too close. It only angers her even more and she shakes off the vibranium hand but stands her ground with her head lifted in cool arrogance, her eyes never wavering from Loki's.
Oh, she really hates him!
The look on her face reminds him of the tales he's heard of Muspelheim. Of Surtur and flames shining brighter than the sun; all of Asgard burning while the glass of the shattered rainbow bridge glistens in the flames and sticks to his skin, covers his hair. With her, there's fire in the air. He feels it immediately and it draws him in.
***
He spends his days in the shadows, observes the dynamics of the Avengers, gathers information in case he has to do something... drastic. He's not exactly planning on betraying the trust his brother's placed in him, but it's never unwise to have a plan to overthrow the Avengers - just in case. So he learns what he can from afar; their likes, their dislikes, their routines. But mostly, Loki just observes her.
She really loathes him which only makes it all the more fun. She storms off whenever he comes close. Flares her nostrils, squares her jaw, stamps away like a petulant child - and he must admit that he does love it! He enjoys having her wrapped around his little finger, that his mere presence can pull such a sincere reaction out of her. It makes the seidr in his veins feel electric; like pure voltage in the palm of his hand as it begs him to show off - show her - what he can do with it. He wonders if this is what Thor feels like when his eyes turn bone-white and arctic blue with lightening.
"I wish you would stop with that."
Loki glances towards his brother, tries to look as bored as possible as if he really doesn't know what he's talking about. "Stop with what?"
Thor gives out a long sigh and Loki is reminded of the first time Thor was disappointed with him; even though it's almost a thousand years ago, he can still smell the sweetness of the stolen tarts he'd hidden underneath his pillowcase and the empty hole in his chest where he knew he should be feeling shame but didn't.
"You know what I mean... It's not nice."
"In case you haven't noticed; I don't care about being nice."
"You're taunting her."
"She's an easy target," Loki hums with remnants of a chuckle, places his hands on the back of his head as he looks over at her. Even as she does something as mundane as drinking her morning coffee, she keeps a wary eye on him. It's entertaining. "You really can't blame me."
"It's not as if she's dangling bait, brother. You hurt her."
"I hurt her?!" Loki snaps, offended, "- when?"
"You really haven't realised?"
"Realised what?"
Another sigh. "Can't you tell she's from New York?"
Loki stops replying after that. Settles on picking an imaginary crumb from off his chest; thin crusted and rhubarb filling. He avoids Thor's gaze. He doesn't feel empty now and they both know it.
***
He'd come running through the compound with the rest of them as soon as the strangled war cry had met his ears.
Half-hiding behind one of the huge stone columns, he takes her in; she's covered in blood from head to toe, panting harshly as she stands in the middle of the hall, daggers still clutched tightly in both hands as her friends surround her. She looks fiery, evil, war ready - like the Valkyries from back home with their spears and their feminine hands skilfully wringing death out of anyone who crosses Asgard.
There had been a time where Loki had been afraid of them, and then, as he grew a little older, completely mesmerised by their raw beauty and the smell of battle as they rode towards the Royal Palace to report back to Odin and his ravens. He remembers standing in the hallowed halls of Valaskjalf with Huginn and Muninn circling above him as the Valkyries take off their helmets and look towards his brother. What he wouldn't have given to have one of them stab him, let alone notice him. Five hundred years later and it still hurts...
Steve Rogers is standing right by her side, not covered in as much blood as she is but still looking relieved to be back home. He sends a nod in Stark's direction and throws an electronic device across the room with a defeated sigh. It doesn't take a genius to see that even though the mission went well, they'd been ambushed.
Rogers takes a step closer to her, puts his arm around her shoulders as to hug her, and for the first time since they appeared in the entrance hall, she howls in pain, collapses on the floor and wrings her face in the most horrible way.
Loki notices the hole in her suit first. Sees how the red comes in pulses and flows down over her shoulder and chest. She's been stabbed, and by the looks of the dark red tissue in the gap, it's deep.
Steve Rogers yelps in shock, throws himself down on the ground beside her and instantly starts pressurising the wound with his bruised hands while his two companions are by her side immediately, ready to scoop her up in their arms and carry her to safety.
Loki takes in the scene unfolding before him; the three frantic men, the spurting blood, her panicked face as she cries. Swears he can hear Hel whisper her name.
"Leave her," he suddenly hears his own voice booming through the echoing hall and it drowns out the whisper.
They all stop dead in their tracks. Look around for him.
He's not sure exactly where all of this is coming from; he really couldn't care less if she died, but he finds himself stepping around the column, and he comes out with his arms raised as if surrendering. "She's gonna bleed out before you reach a doctor."
Action figure-man is on his feet almost immediately: "And what do you suggest?," he hisses angrily, "that we leave her be? Let her die here on the floor without even trying?"
Loki raises his arms a little higher and takes another careful step towards them. "I can help."
"You can help? And why should we trust you?"
"First of all, you shouldn't," he states as he simply cannot help himself. "- But it's your only chance of saving your friend."
"You're not serious!" Tin-man hisses and looks towards Loki while helping Steve Rogers putting pressure on the gaping wound, "as if we're supposed to believe you suddenly care."
Loki wants to bite back but a painful sound from her makes him hold his tongue.
"- We're not gambling with her life!"
"Are you sure?" Loki retorts and it finally makes Captain Rogers look up. "- Because it looks to me as if you are."
Loki cannot see Thor who's standing behind him, but he imagines the slow nod of approval he gives the Steve Rogers trio, because suddenly the Captain gives out a heavy sigh, his eyes downcast. "Alright then," he says in defeat and waves Loki closer while clutching her tight.
"Steve!" Tin-man appeals but his best friend has made up his mind.
All eyes turn to Loki.
He's surprised to learn that he doesn't enjoy it as much as he'd imagined he would. He supposes it's because the main difference between him and his brother has once again been underlined so cruelly.
"If you try anything," action figure man warns and Loki bites back: "What? You'll kill me? As if I haven't heard that before. Now get out of my way, mortal."
He steps forwards, squats down beside her and summons the green sparks in the palm of his hand, looks her in the eye for the first time since the day they'd been introduced. There's fire behind her colourful irises; mistrust, chaos and fear. She leans towards him and with all her strength grabs his wrist. "What - are - you - doing?" she pants and wrings him tightly.
"Saving you," he mumbles and turns his palm around, directs the sparks at her gashing wound.
She gives out a small painful hiss as the wound closes up immediately but her eyes never leave his face. They transgress from pain to panic to relief. He's there with her for the whole ride and it does absolutely nothing to drown the embers inside of him.
"Oh my god," Captain Rogers mumbles and runs his fingers over the newly-formed scar on her front as he stares in disbelief.
Her doubting eyes are still carefully watching Loki, her small fingers still wrapped tightly around his wrist. Her mouth goes slack and she finally lets go of him, looks towards the closed up wound, then back at him. "Thank you," she whispers apprehensively.
It makes his seidr glow fluorescently green in his veins and he gets the sudden urge to fall to his knees and lick her clean.
Had Huginn and Muninn only still been alive, he would've made them watch this up close so they could report it back in detail to all of Asgard.
***
The Avengers are not as cold after that. Still wary of him - as they should be - but the hatred and constant fear is gone. And when she comes back from her bed rest, it tickles him that the first thing she does is to seek him out.
"Thank you," she says slowly, almost controlled, and extends her hand as a peace offering, "- for saving my life."
"You already said that."
"Well, I meant it."
He looks up at her. Her mouth is formed to a pout, her body poised in vigilance, her eyes carefully watching his every movement while her hand extends into dangerous grounds. She's still not sure what his motives are and it gives him the opportunity to toy with her a bit. "...I'm honoured?"
A short-lived flame of annoyance flashes across her features as she retracts her hand back to safety with a huff.
"Did I say something wrong?" he quips in the hopes that he can keep her attention.
"You're trying to rile me up."
"How dare you!" He says in mock offence. "I would never!"
She crosses her arms underneath her chest, "I'm trying to offer you an olive branch and all you do is ridicule me. Are you really that desperate for attention?"
It amuses him. He loves when she shows him bits of the real her. "Are you calling me desperate for attention because I don't care I saved your life?"
“Then why did you do it?”
“It was merely strategic,” he shrugs and hopes she doesn’t detect the lie that tastes bitter on his tongue. Why did he save her? The question’s been nagging him for days now. “- it’s never unwise to have an Avenger owe you their life.”
“Wow,” she blinks and shakes her head in disbelief. "I don't know why we all listened to Thor - he said you'd changed but you're clearly still a conniving snake.”
"A snake?” he smiles, relieved that his lie has her convinced, "is that supposed to hurt me? Trust me, darling, I've been called worse."
"Just a gentle reminder that you'll never be anything but a villain."
"I suppose every villain is a hero in their own mind."
She takes the bait and narrows her eyes. "You absolutely destroyed my hometown. All the places I loved. And you have the nerve to call yourself a hero?!"
"Would you prefer a god?"
She flares her nostrils in frustration, "is everything a joke to you?"
"...Mainly?" he smirks "in case you haven't noticed, I'm the God of Mischief - it's in the job description."
She takes a few angry breaths. "Life is always a performance for you, isn't it? Whether it's an endless need for attention, a humorous quip, or the unfolding of another of your great plans, it's always just for show!"
He's excited to feel that the full-blown anger's back and she's seeing red. And to think he was almost disappointed in her?!
She grinds her teeth. "Just so we're clear, I'm not doing this to imply we're even or to make you feel just the slightest bit better about yourself for what you did. Trust me, I'd still rather see you rotting away in a prison cell. You-"
"I must admit," he drawls, gives himself some time to enjoy her undivided, flaming attention as he so impolitely interrupts her, "I like you much more when you're honest with me. When you admit you want to watch me burn! This front of niceties you just put up? This so-called olive branch while you so uncharacteristically give up control? It doesn't suit you."
She wrings her arms in frustration, narrows her eyes into slits. "You're goddamn insufferable!"
***
She's not more intoxicated than the rest of the Avengers, but she is drunk. Agent Romanoff keeps handing her clear liquor in small glasses that they down in a single second, followed by strings of laughs when the alcohol burns in their throats.
He remembers being drunk like that; fresh, sweet-smelling mead from oak barrels in the hundreds, wine in golden carafes on every table. He used to love the parties him and Thor threw; the chaos, the abundance! A heavy flow of alcohol was always a neat little excuse for his erratic behaviour, but the best part was always when the mead was extra good and strong and he could get Thor to follow his lead. Oh, how they used to cause rampage! They would've been unstoppable, had they only been on the same side.
Loki turns around the brown glass bottle in his hand so he can read the blue label; five percent...
He misses the lightheadedness, the parties, him and Thor being on the same side, Asgard. He's never longed for a taste of home this much before. He looks back at her.
"You're being unusually quiet this evening," Thor says from layers away, "should I be worried?"
"Hmm?" Loki snaps out of it, turns his head towards his brother who's sitting with an annoyingly smug expression plastered on his face. "No, I'm just contemplating this piss they call beer. How can they drink it?" He gives the bottle a sniff and winces. "I never thought I'd hear myself say it but I miss Asgard."
"Is that sentiment I sense in you, brother?"
"Absolutely not," he scoffs and looks back at her and Romanoff as they give out a loud laugh. "I'm glad it burned."
Her eyes scan the room, land on Loki's for a split second too long to pretend they didn't register him. For some reason, it satisfies him. She's aware of his presence.
"You like her," he hears Thor's chuckle from beside him.
"Bite your tongue!"
"I notice you stare at her a lot," he chuckles again.
Loki wants to say something. Wants to make Thor pay for what he's implying, but he doesn't really have a great comeback to that.
***
It's later that same evening when she finally approaches him. Toned legs walking towards him, wide hips swaying up the small set of stairs, shoulders pushed arrogantly back as she determinedly stares him down. She only has eyes for him. Finally.
He can't help but meet her halfway; he leans forwards, balances his elbows on his knees, impatiently waits for her to spit on him.
"Loki," she hums with fire in her eyes when the syllables hit her tongue.
"Yes, little dove?" he quips, excited to see her riled up and finally talking to him again.
"I want to talk to you," she scans the room for unwanted attention before her sharp eyes find his again and he feels the bone-white and arctic blue. "This little game you're playing?" She says harshly, "It ends now."
He almost gives in. Almost. "What game?"
"Don't play stupid," she huffs. "I can't do anything without you keeping an eye on me. Tell me what it is you want."
He cannot help the smirk that appears on his lips and he leans a little closer, spreads his knees apart.
"Answer me," she demands, her chest heaving.
"You haven't asked a question," he says calmly as if he truly didn't notice the way her eyes lingered on his crotch.
"You want me to be sincere," she states and takes another step towards him. "-I want the same thing from you."
She's so close he can smell her; sweet, salty, tang on the back of his tongue. She's ripe like a fucking goddess!
He absentmindedly rubs his thighs. "Darling, I assure you; this is me being sincere."
Her chest is heaving in heavy pants. She's annoyed. "Then tell me exactly what you want from me."
She holds his gaze in an insane power play while he ponders for a second. Should he tell her his intentions? String her along for a little while longer and make her second-guess everything? He is the God of Mischief, he supposes, but she looks so sweet, so damn fuckable as she angrily stares down at him. So he gives in and tells her what he wants. After all, why shouldn't he? What's he got to lose?
***
A decent man would've probably kept her at an arms length, tucked her into bed and told her she was way too drunk to make decisions like this, but Loki's not a decent man. He'll take what he can get and leave the decency to team Cap.
With a flick of his wrist, they're back in his bedroom. She's naked in his lap, pushing her lovely tits up against him as she pulls him closer. "You like me," she whispers and licks the shell of his ear. Moves her pelvis against his leather clothing, "you like watching me."
"Shut up," he groans and pulls her flush against his chest, pushes his tongue past her teeth as he grinds her bottom against his crotch.
Her hand comes down between them, slides down over the trail of hair underneath his navel before her fingers find their way to the buttons of his leather pants, unleashes him without a single touch. She eyes him hungrily but keeps her hands to herself, nonverbally insists she has the power to control him. The way she looks at him: he's so hard, it's verging on torture.
"Tell me you like me," she pulls harshly down on his hair, bites him; draws blood from his lower lip.
"Ah!" he hisses though he likes it! "Careful!"
She yanks his hair again with an evil smile and Loki swears, he almost comes.
"You're a devil, aren't you?" he hears himself say as he smacks her ass and bites her nipple, takes advantage of her little jump to push two fingers inside her pulsing heat. She's gushing already, soaks him all the way down to his knuckles as she rides his hand, pinches her own nipples.
"Say my name," he pulls on her earlobe with his teeth. "Spit on me!"
She finds his eye, gives him the same evil smile as before and whispers a short "no," as she arches her back and pushes her nipple back into his mouth. Cheeky little thing.
He curls his fingers and strokes her g-spot, enjoys the sounds she's making for him. Only for him, he reminds himself and feels his chest expanding with something unfamiliar that makes him want to melt into her. He pushes it away; concentrates on the tangible pleasure and not how it makes his head dizzy.
As if on cue, her hands finally find his aching cock and she starts stroking him slowly. He's harder than ever and leaking already.
He looks down between them; small feminine hands caressing him so sweetly is a fantastic contrast to all the biting and pulling. He feels his chest expanding again. "Fuck!" he hisses and pushes himself into her hand to feel something else. Focus on the pleasure, he tells himself and stutters his hips upwards again and again.
Her fingers are running through his hair and she's sucking on his tongue while her hand sets the pace, runs over his stained head. "You want this?" She whispers, bites the thin skin below his jaw.
Fuck yes he wants this! Wants her! He groans.
"You want to save my life?," she bites him again, pulls on his hair. "You want me to spit on you? Are you so desperate to fuck an avenger?"
He hisses at that, grabs her jaw tightly. "I hate the Avengers!"
"Are you sure?" she smiles devilishly and points at the scar on her shoulder. "Are you sure you really hate us?”
He groans in defeat and releases her pretty face with a hiss and positions himself at her entrance, finally pushes himself inside with the same pace as she lowers herself down towards his hips. “Ah! Fuck!”
It's an immediate collision of universes, Loki is seeing stars and needs a second to come down to earth, to savour the feeling, but he hardly has time to get used to the warm wetness squeezing him tight before she starts moving in long, warm pulses.
He's captivated, enchanted! He bites her neck, holds her down, desperate to keep her bouncing in a speed that makes him flex his toes without making him explode. He wants this to last. He wants this memory of her hatefucking him into oblivion. This beautiful, vengeful woman who's mounting him like a stallion and riding him like a valkyrie riding to battle. "Goddess!" he hisses against her neck and she finally finds his mouth and without the use of teeth, presses silky lips against his, makes everything inside of him glow green with desire. It’s desire, he tells himself though it feels like something else.
"Loki," she finally moans in his ear and he's never heard anything sweeter.
He pulls her closer, fucks into her and smells her skin. Kisses the scar below her shoulder.
He saved her.
His seidr runs crazy, tingles throughout every limb, makes him see everything clear: he wants her to want him and only him!
That’s why he saved her.
His last thought before he completely lets go is of the disaster he knows this will bring upon him; his own, personal Ragnarok visible on the horizon. She has the power to make him crumble, to make him burn brighter than the sun and turn to ash. He feels it already and there's no stopping it.
He thinks of Valaskjalf. Of molten gold and flames licking his father’s throne.
She speeds up, moans his name, fills his chest with fire.
Valhalla, I'm coming home.

Kirby toddler reader! She’s so small and pink as she crashes down from Space to the Earth with her Star spaceship, which is how she got to the tournament in the first place.
Everyone’s just very confused at what a small baby is doing here, who can’t talk very well, only saying her own name and slowly being able to pronounce other words too. They’re also not sure what she even is since she’s definitely not human. (Kirby eats ANYTHING) so maybe they figure that out when they witness reader eating Brunhilldes disgusting pies in one bite.
(Even cuter if reader floats at one point since Kirby can do that)
-As Ragnarok’s first round was about to start, Lu Bu and Thor sizing each other up, knowing in an instant that the other was strong, nobody was expecting a party crasher.
-A glint in the sky high above was all that some people saw before Zeus shouted for the two fighters to look out and they looked up, seeing a star shaped spaceship crashing down.
-Both were able to avoid the impact, which destroyed a large part of the arena grounds, and as the smoke cleared, nobody was expecting to see a cute little pink… something to come out of the ship.
-You were so tiny and so adorable as you fell out of the ship, front flipping out and landing on your rear, “Poyo!” everyone was wide-eyed, stunned by that they were seeing before you opened your eyes as Thor and Lu Bu approached.
-You weren’t afraid, immediately beaming up at them, “Poyo!” and quickly the tournament was put on hold.
-Thor wasn’t sure what to make of you, as you sat on his lap, all the gods and human warriors meeting together to meet you, you were definitely not human, but you weren’t a god either.
-Loki was poking at your belly and you giggle loudly, looking so cheerful, so carefree, it made many of them melt almost instantly and you were quickly being passed around, being introduced to everyone.
-You were passed to Odin and his beard made you sneeze, and you shocked everyone once again as you started to float, a side effect of your sneeze, but you didn’t look bothered at all, floating around, having fun.
-Your spaceship was recovered from the arena and Beelzebub and Nikola were the ones assigned to inspect it, finding the technology inside it unlike anything they had seen on earth or in Valhalla.
-Loki was trying to help you say his name, something you had a bit of trouble with, making them think that you were only a baby, as you could only say, “Lolo!” which many thought was adorable.
-When your stomach suddenly rumbled, showing that you were hungry, Brunnhilde brought you some of her pies, which quickly had most everyone reeling away, appalled by the smell of it.
-You lifted your little arms, “Poyo!” before you opened your mouth and like a vacuum, a whirlwind surrounded the four pies, pulling them towards you and you inhaled them, pie tin and all, shocking all of them.
-Your mouth closed as soon as the last pie disappeared and you plopped down on your rear, smiling brightly at Brunnhilde, “Poyo-poyo!” she could tell that you were thanking her and she smiled warmly, happy that you liked her pies.
-Her joy was short lived, as it was quickly proven, unintentionally with a couple of chairs and several glass cups, that you could and would eat anything, as nothing would cause you any damage or make you appear any different.
-It was like you didn’t need normal food to feed yourself, you could eat anything, which did cause some headaches, as you did inhale some things that you should have, like weapons, but they were quick to learn your quirks and tried to not only teach you but encourage you to only eat actual food items.
-Your new family, as they had put aside their difference, not wanting to make you sad, as you had grown close to all of them, treating them so gently, like how a child would treat a parent, and they all agreed to cancel Ragnarok and work on fixing things, to prove to you that they were good role models for you.
-You were just happy to spend time with your newfound friends!

Summary: After Age of Ultron, the team are left with the decision of what to do with Wanda, and they’re not in agreement. Natasha becomes staunchly defensive of the witch, remembering her own fate at SHIELD was decided in a similar manner.
(Summaries are tricky but Nat defends Wanda, R defends Nat, then they comfort each other at the end)
Word Count: 1188
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff & Reader; Wanda Maximoff & Reader (Platonic)
Warnings: Half the team are being mean to Wanda and Natasha gets sad :(
A/N: Based on this request. Thank you all for the awesome response to my last fic, it gave me the motivation to write despite everything else going on rn, so thank you and reminder to reblog and comment on fics if you can, because that’s what keeps writers posting their fics on here :) Enjoy!
»»————- ★ ————-««
"We cannot let her waltz around scot-free without any repentance for her crimes!"
"She just lost her homeland and her twin brother; you don't think that's enough punishment?"
"She's HYDRA. She volunteered. She is everything we've been fighting against and you want us to, what? take her under our wing? make her even stronger than she already is?"
"Yes! That's the kind of power we want on our side-"
To nobody's surprise, Steve and Tony are at odds, driving the argument. Thor had backed Steve with the insight that second chances had done his brother a world of good. But everyone remembers the Battle of New York, and soon even Steve is wishing the God of Thunder would rescind his support. Bruce agrees with Tony, still racked with guilt over the Johannesburg incident. Then Clint voices his support for Steve, upon a conditional level of trust, to return the sides to an imbalance.
Sam and Rhodey use their newcomer status to remove their ballot from the decision; the two of them sneaking off, likely to do better things with their time.
The argument continues, never ceasing for breaths since everyone talks over each other, constantly interrupting the previous point. You grimace from your place in the corner; sitting, observing, and waiting for them to tire themselves out before you say your piece. Natasha meets your eye. She is doing the same.
"She's a child!" Steve continues
"She's going on 26! Steve you were Captain America by that age, I was the most famous CEO in the world! We weren't let off the hook for anything, were we? We weren't told we were 'just kids so it's all okay'. I paid for my mistakes, same as you did, and this glowing ball in my chest is proof of that."
"That's enough," Natasha finally speaks. Her voice is all it takes to bring the group to silence. "She's a victim. She was manipulated into her actions and she came around as soon as she realised that. We've all made mistakes, and joining the Avengers was our chance at redemption; let her have that."
"Her actions are her own, and I'm sorry, but they're too severe to wave off as a mistake, or ignorance"
"Is that the same with me?"
"What?"
"See, I was a victim too, but no one ever treated me like one."
"Nat-"
"No. Nobody was controlling me when I went through the Red Room; my actions were all my own, same as Wanda. But when your childhood is defined by manipulation and indoctrination, how much does that matter? I did the only thing I knew how to do and followed orders, same as Wanda, and I lost people along the way, same as Wanda. Have you even spoken to her, Tony? She's known since the age of 10 that your missile killed her parents, and HYDRA took advantage of that; you think you'd keep a levelhead if you found someone responsible for your parents' deaths?
So no. I spent too long thinking my transgressions were all my own, and I won't stand here and let Wanda believe the same."
Natasha strides out of the door with purpose and speed, while all eyes in the room track her movements in silence. It is only when the door slams that the team begins to break from their stupor.
You look around unsurely, meeting everyone's eyes as if to confirm its truth. You are the first to break the silence. "I'm going after her." Nobody contests.
You don't rush, you know where Natasha is after all and you know she needs time alone, but you also know to check up on her after an argument like that. You were there when Clint brought her back to SHIELD, when Fury and the archer broke into arguments echoingly similar to the one the team just had. You remember how much she struggled from her own mind, how they left her in a cell, just as the Avengers now have to Wanda, and you remember the thin walls, where Natasha could overhear all their arguments regardless of how you tried to distract her.
It isn't a surprise to you when you open Natasha's door and she refuses to speak. She watches you enter and makes space for you to sit beside her on the bed, but she doesn't speak. You talk to her for a bit, praising her stance, but it's clear she needs longer alone.
"I'll be here when you need," you say. She nods. You walk back to where you're needed most, passing through the common room still full of arguing Avengers on your way.
"Stop thinking about yourselves for once, and think about your fucking team," you say without even stopping to look at them, then you continue your path out of the room.
»»————- ★ ————-««
Guilt sets in on the remaining Avengers as they fall to silence yet again. Clint reminds them what Natasha went through and from that memory, Natasha's hasty exit, and your outburst after seeing the assassin, they can all conclude how much the topic has hurt their teammate.
Clint apologies through her bedroom door; the others say sorry to her face once she lets them in. Natasha sighs, then nods her acceptance of their apologies. "The person you really should be saying this to is Wanda. She deserves support, not solitary isolation."
"Yeah, I don't think it's all that solitary," Tony says. He flicks his wrist to the wall, and soon enough FRIDAY is displaying a feed of Wanda's cell.
"Is that Y/N?" Steve asks, squinting for a better look.
Meanwhile, Natasha smiles, recognising the scene in front of her and knowing, with certainty, that it was you. She watches you and Wanda sit cross-legged on the floor with a plastic yellow board coming up between you. You both analyse it closely until you pull a circular blue chip from your hand and slide it in.
"That's four!" you cheer. Pointing out the four circles you had managed to connect. Wanda frowns, but you can tell it is not akin to the sorrow she had felt so often recently. At this moment, her mind is distracted entirely from that and focused only on the game.
"We have to play again. I can win this, I know," the Sokovian frowns. "I get first move."
You're still dividing the 'connect 4' pieces into their respective colours when a knock sounds on the cell door. You look up as Natasha opens the door, greeting Wanda with a smile.
"You doing okay?" you ask.
Natasha nods. "Thank you for being here, Y/N. And as for Wanda-" she switches her gaze- "we've got a room prepared for you if you're willing to stay. You can learn to control your powers; the team agreed I can train you."
"I would like that," Wanda mumbles, her nerves around the assassin still clear.
"Come on then, I'll take you to your room.” Natasha smiles and escorts her out, but before falling out of your earshot, she leans into Wanda conspiratorially, “I’ll even give you the secret to beating Y/N at that game.”

It had been the last weekend of the holidays, before Ella and Narfi had to return to school. Therefore, you and Loki decided to take them somewhere special. And since you believed that you and your husband deserved some relaxation, the decision was made quickly. Two days at a water park/spa hotel. Slides for the kids; spa for you and Loki - and it turned out that this weekend was exactly what the whole family needed. Everybody returned happy, relaxed - and with black painted nails.
Long story short, you went to get your nails painted. Ella joined you. Narfi heard it and wanted it, too. So you took the six-year-old with you as well, because why not? And in the end, Loki joined in, too and everybody left with beautifully black painted nails. And you had to admit... Your men could absolutely wear it.
Narfi loved his painted nails. You could tell - and so could Loki. It filled the god's heart with pride that the young boy was so confident in what he wants and does. He didn't want Narfi to think that painting nails was only for girls, because it wasn't. After all, Loki had them painted too - and even his uncle Thor sometimes (due to Eisa, but nevertheless).
The little prince ran around the whole compound that Sunday morning when the family returned, showing everybody proudly his new 'look'. Everywhere he went, Narfi received nothing but love and support. It made Loki smile.
But then Narfi had to go back to school - and from one day to the next everything suddenly changed...
Tumblr media
"Hi, Mr. L!" Lindsay Peters - one of Narfi's classmate's parent, single mom, quite annoying - and having a huge crush on Loki. Whenever the occasion occurred, she'd flirt with him; trying to get closer - since months. She didn't care at all about the fact that he was very happily married. When Loki told you about the... issue, you only giggled; knowing very well that Lindsay wouldn't even have the ghost of a chance.
Loki stood in front of the school, waiting for his son; hands stuffed deeply into the pockets of his coat. It was getting colder. Winter was definitely around the corner. Of course it didn't affect the god as much as it affected you, for example. The Frost Giant in him cushioned this a bit, but he'd lie, if he said that it wasn't cold.
A rather harsh breeze brushed his face and rustled through his long, free raven curls, as he suddenly heard somebody approaching. Nothing unusual, given the fact that Narfi wasn't the only child who was done with school at that time of the day; but the squeaky voice of somebody he (unfortunately) only knew too well caused him to subtly roll his eyes.
Gritting his teeth, Loki turned to face her; forcing a smile on his lips. "Hello, Ms. Peters." "Doing the school run today?" She asked the god; winking and gave him a not quite subtle once over. "Yes. Indeed. Unless I wouldn't be here, right?" Lindsay laughed out loud at this. But as fast as the laugh left her lips, as fast died it down again, and she fluttered her eyelashes. "Well... You are mostly here when I am here too..." She bit her lip and gave the god another wink.
He wanted to throw up.
"Hey, little prince." "Hello."
"Some could probably think we have an affair." Loki almost choked on his own spit at her words. He blinked rapidly; frown forming on his forehead. "No, Ms. Peters. Nobody thinks that." The woman standing beside him wanted to answer something, but got interrupted by the rather loud ring of the school bell; telling Loki that Narfi would appear in the next few moments. Thank the Norns, he thought and made his way further into the school yard; eyes searching for his son in the huge crowds of kids, which started to flood through the doors.
Luckily, he found him soon. All he had to do, was to look out for a head full of short, thick and mostly bouncing raven curls - and the bright green puffer jacket his uncle Thor gifted him.
Once Loki's eyes found his son's he gave him a bright smile and already squatted down to welcome the little boy with a hug. Loki immediately noticed that Narfi's smile wasn't remotely as bright as usual; and when the hug Narfi gave his father was shorter than normally as well, Loki grew suspicious.
Yes, something was definitely wrong.
The god's eyes roamed the little boy's face; trying to find the solution in his matching blue eyes. Narfi had learned to shape-shift at the age of four. It was a rocky start, but in the end, he mastered it. Not always, but mostly.
"Bye, Mr. L! See you hopefully tomorrow!" Again, the shrill voice urged to his ears, causing him to roll his eyes once more. "Goodbye, Ms. Peters.
"Is everything alright, little man?" Narfi nodded. "Sure, daddy. School was great." Loki noticed, of course, that his son clearly wasn't telling the truth, but he also noticed, that he seemed uncomfortable in talking about this here and now, so Loki decided to leave it be... For now.
"Okay. Let's go home, huh?" Another nod from Narfi. Loki gently ruffled the boy's hair, straightened up again and took Narfi's small hand in his.
But then he started to shake his head. "N-No. Can I go to my room and play?" Loki sighed, but accepted - once again his son's decision. "Sure, little prince. I'll call you later for dinner, okay?" Narfi nodded, and Loki smiled; trying to lift the mood. "It's just me and you today, buddy, remember? So perhaps we can watch a movie later? Or play something together, if you like?" "Mhm." The boy gave Loki a fake smile, while he took off his puffer jacket, handed it to Loki and then turned around and left; vanishing around the corner.
Loki and Narfi crossed the street then; walking home together.
On their way, Loki tried a few times to start a conversation with the six-year-old; asking him how school today was, what he played with his friends during breaks and which new things he learned - but again was the boy not very talkative. Another reason for the god to assume that something was bothering his son.
After the main door of the apartment shut close behind the father-son pair; Loki helped Narfi a bit to get out of his shoes and puffer jacket.
"Narfi..." Loki started; untying one shoe lace. "You've been very quiet on our way home... Something is wrong, I can tell." He looked up; giving his son a compassionate look. "Would you like to talk about it?" The little boy stayed silent for a moment; seemingly weighing his options. His eyes looked everywhere but into his father's; hands fumbling with the zipper of he puffer jacket nervously.
The god sighed and stood up from his squatting position. His gaze lingered on the bright green piece of clothing in his hands. He really hoped that Narfi would open up to him - or to anyone. Perhaps it was a mama thing, but the problem was that you weren’t here. You were currently in Vancouver, together with Natasha and Clint on a spy mission; and Ella had afternoon classes and stayed over at her best friend's after, since it was her birthday and they made a small sleepover party together.
With one hand running through his raven locks, Loki hung up Narfi's jacket and then went to do a bit of laundry. Loki had learned to do this years ago. He had to, since you were both Avengers and therefore was the other not always around. And right now, you were at least away for the rest of the week... And it was Monday...
Tumblr media
Later that day, he went to cook Ratatouille - one of Narfi's favourite dishes, hoping that this would put an honest smile on his face. Before he started with dinner, he texted Ella; making sure that his princess was at least alright. She was; he could tell from her texts. He even received a voice message. It made him smile.
Just as Loki cut the aubergines into thin slices, he felt the vibration of his mobile in the pocket of his sweatpants. Quickly wiping his hands, he fished for his phone and checked the caller ID. A smile lit up his whole face when he saw your name on the display. Of course the god immediately answered the call, "Hello, my love." and clipped the small device between his ear and shoulder, so that he could keep on slicing the vegetables.
"Hi, babe!" Your happy voices urged to his ear from the other end of the line. He hummed. "What a delight to hear my beautiful wife's voice. It's Monday evening, you left yesterday after dinner and I already miss you so much."
You giggled, but Loki was almost 100 per cent certain, that you were blushing, too. Still. After all those years. He smiled.
"Aww, baby... I miss you too - and the kiddos, of course." You paused for moment to yawn. Loki chuckled. "Tiring day, love?" "Mhhh... Being on a spy mission with the two best spies this world has probably ever seen is really difficult for a plain vanilla Avenger. Especially to keep up." You laughed - music to Loki's ears.
Loki showed you the ingredients and the cut pepper on his cutting board. "So, what do you think? What's it going to be?" "Hmm..." You started to smile once more. "Are you cooking Ratatouille?" "That is absolutely correct." "Yesss!" The god chuckled at your small, cute victory dance.
After telling him what happened on the actual mission today and that you were back in the hotel now, you switched the topic. "What about you, babe? How was your day?" Loki smiled at your words; cutting a pepper. "As good as it can be without you, darling. Woke up the kids this morning, brought them to school, helped my oaf of a brother, did some chores and now I'm cooking." "Ooo, what are you cooking?" Your voice was full of honest excitement, which made the god smile even brighter.
"Let's switch to video call and I'll show you." He suggested; finger already hovering above the small button. "Oh yes, please. I love it when you cook." You giggled; switching to video call. "Well, you taught me well, love." Loki switched, too and was now able to see your beautiful self. His heart skipped a beat at the smile on your face. It always did. You were clearly sitting on the bed in your hotel room; still dressed in your mission gear.
"Ella is at Tara's?" He nodded; cutting the onion next. "Yes. They are having fun. She already sent me a voice message." "That's good. I have to text her later as well..."
"Yes," he said; adjusting his man bun. "You are most likely right." You smiled gently. "Give him a bit more time. He'll come to you. You know our little prince." Loki nodded, "I know, love, I know... It's just..." and sighed. "He's my baby and I-I'm worried." "I know you are, babe - which makes you the best daddy in all the nine realms."
A few moments of silence passed, before Loki took a deep breath and decided to tell you about Narfi.
"I asked the little prince if we should watch a movie later together... Just us men, you know." You ran a hand through your hair; smiling. "That sounds great, babe." "But I don't know if Narfi wants to... Since I picked him up from school he is... quiet and glum. Something is bothering him, I can tell, but he doesn't want to talk to me." The god sighed.
Your expression changed into slight worry; a frown forming on your forehead. "Sounds like something happened in school..." Loki nodded. "Apparently, yes. He shut himself off. Already spent the whole afternoon in his room..." You nodded. "Something is off, yeah... But he sometimes does that when anything happens that affects him. You know that our little boy always needs a bit more time to open up - just like somebody else I know." You gazed directly into your husband's eyes; a little smirk tugging at the corners of your lips.
Loki blushed; rubbing his hand down his muscular chest. A small nervous habit.
Another moment of silence passed.
He smirked.
"What are you up to on this fine evening, darling?" The god changed the topic; trying to distract his slightly troubled mind.
You smiled - and as if by command, yawned. "Not very much. I am super tired. Clint and Nat literally wore me out." You chuckled. "So, I'm gonna go to bed soon. But first, I'm taking a shower. Just have to wait until Nat is finished."
These words caused a small shiver to run down Loki's spine; and he felt a little twitch in lower regions of his body.
"It's been way too long, babe. We should really catch up on this when-" You interrupted your own sentence and looked past your mobile, before you snorted out a laugh. "Oh shut up, Nat!" Loki raised an eyebrow; smiling. Seems like the Widow was finished with her shower.
"Mhh... I'd die to join you in that shower now." The god winked; giving you a smouldering look. You almost melted on the spot. After all those years, he never failed to affect you. Emotionally and sexually.
You bit your lip; couldn't help yourself but to play along. "I can absolutely imagine that you'd love to join me, babe. Especially with the kids not being around... And I have to admit, it sounds very tempting." "Indeed..." Loki hummed; voice low and husky. "I didn't have you in the shower since an awful long time..." You shifted on the bed; feeling your husband pressing the right buttons perfectly.
"What did she say?" You looked back at your husband; still giggling. "She said no phone sex when she's around." Loki laughed; shaking his head. "If our dear Ms. Romanoff would know how often we fooled around on missions with her sleeping right next door to us." He said amused; trying to focus on the Ratatouille again. And you knew of course exactly what he meant.
You sighed. "Okay, babe... I think I should go now; take a shower and sleep." Loki nodded. "You do just that, my love. Sleep well. Please take care tomorrow and text me once in a while. I love you." You gave him a smile. "Will do, I promise. I love you even more. Good night and cuddle and kiss the kids from me, yes?" Your husband smiled as well. "Absolutely. Good night."
"He's right, Nat," you called out to your best friend. "Oh, believe me, sweetheart, I know," Natasha threw back. "You weren't as quiet as you thought you were."
You exchanged a look with Loki. "Whoops... Sorry, babes." You giggled along with your husband. Natasha just made a gesture of refusal. "Don't worry. I got used to you two, fucking each other's brains out everywhere you can, so..." She shrugged her shoulders; smiling. "But I still don't want to witness phone sex between you two, so please keep it in your pants." "Yes, ma'am." You saluted and watched your best friend walk off to get dressed in her pyjama.

Once Loki ended the phone call with you and finished preparing the Ratatouille, he did a few more chores. After that, he set the table and went to get Narfi for dinner.
"Narfi?" He gently pushed down the handle of the door. "Dinner is ready." Loki received no answer, so he entered the room - and felt like he had fallen into the refrigerator. It was cold in his room. Narfi was nowhere to be seen; probably hiding inside the cave he had built out of blankets and pillows. Delicate snowflake were fluttering on the cave from an invisible cloud above.
It couldn't get more obvious for Loki... Something was wrong.
Narfi's emotions had a huge impact on his Frost Giant self. Strong emotions - like anger, sadness, grief and happiness could cause icy things to happen... Like the snow cloud.
"Narfi?" Loki called out gently; similar ruby eyes snapping open to look at him. "D-Daddy? W-What are you doing in here?" The god sighed. "I'm sorry, sweetheart. I just wanted to tell you that dinner is ready..." He hesitated for a moment, "Then I saw the snow cloud above the cave and..." but approached the boy further, until he was seated right beside him. Loki wrapped his arm around Narfi - nothing more. It was a simple gesture. A simple gesture of fatherly comfort.
Loki felt his inner Jotun as well; his skin turning into a soft blue - but it wasn't enough to tickle the Frost Giant entirely awake. The god sighed and cautiously stepped closer to the 'cave'.
"Little prince?" Again, there was no answer. The god squatted down; searching for the 'entrance' of the cave. He found it rather quickly and gently pushed the blanket aside. "I'm coming in, okay?" The opening wasn't exactly built for a 6'2" tall man, but in the end, he made it. Crawling around the little corner, he shape-shifted into his Jotun form and finally spotted his son. He sat in the middle; completely in the dark. His knees pulled up to his chest; eyes closed.
If Narfi didn't wish to talk, Loki wanted at least to let him know that he was here for him. He always would be.
But it was enough to break down the small Frost Giant's walls.
The god frowned. A snap of his fingers dipped the insides of the cave in a warm, dimmed light. "Why, buddy? I thought you liked it?" Narfi swallowed visibly; "I-I do, but..." trying to hold back the tears.
With tears in his eyes he looked up at his father. "D-Daddy?"
"Yes?"
"C-Can we... make the paint on my nails go away?"
In vain.
"Narfi..." Loki gently said; pulling him closer against him. "That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Nail polish isn't just for girls. It never was." "R-Really?" He nodded; smiling. "Really. All that matters is that you like it. Don't listen to the other boys. Never change yourself because others say so. You..." Loki cupped Narfi's cheek; wiping away the tears. "... are my little prince who wears this black nail polish like a king."
"T-The other boys at school not. T-They said I look like a girl and that painting nails isn't something boys should do."
Loki’s heart dropped; appalled about his classmates words. Children could be cruel. He knew that as well.
The young boy smiled softly through his tears; climbing into Loki's arms. He said nothing, just cuddled close. And Loki just held his son.
Loki’s heart broke for his son. Seemingly had those boys not a single clue how important and good it was to cry. "Narfi..." He started again; stroking over his back in a reassuring manner. "It's more than alright to cry. In fact, it's even very important... I know that they say boys shouldn't cry, but believe me, little prince... Your dad has shed a lot of tears."
"Why didn't you talk to me right away about this, little prince?" It was a question that Loki still troubled. Sure, he'd never push his kids into talking to them, but he learned a long time ago that talking was often the best medicine.
"I... I wanted to... be strong. Like you, daddy. I-I don't want to cry all the time, b-because the boys laughed when I cried," Narfi whispered.
"I love you, too." He pressed a kiss against his son's cheek. "Let's go eat dinner, huh? The Ratatouille is waiting for you."
The boy lifted his head and looked at his father with big eyes. "Really?" Loki nodded. "Oh yes." "A-And when was the last time you cried?" "Hmm..." He hummed; thinking. "A few months ago, right after your mommy and I watched you walk inside Primary School like a big boy." Narfi's eyes widened more - if that was even possible. "B-But why did you cry about that, daddy?" The god smiled gently; eyes filled with love. "Because I watched my little prince grow up."
The young boy returned the smile. "I love you, daddy."
