fat person: “i really hate how fat ppl are treated in our society, we are literally dying from medical fatphobia and are forced to loose weight before doctors will help you with an issue that has nothing to do with weight. they’d rather let us die than help us. eating disorders are rampant among fat people and we go without support and treatment because either no one believes us or they encourage restrictive eating disorders because they want us to loose weight. we get shamed for using fast fashion when there’s literally no ethical brands with affordable clothing in fat sizes. we are constantly told how unlovable, unattractive and worthless we are because of our weight. if ur not fat or have never been fat u will not understand.”
skinny ppl for no damn reason: “ok but consider this; someone told me to eat once and i find that oppressive.”

And I'm not about trying to lose weight. I'm about finding ways to get regular exercise which are enjoyable for me because it's good for my body and my mental health. I'm about eating regularly and enough and a broad variety of food and getting all the nutrients and vitamins my body needs to thrive. It's not about my weight. It's not about beauty standards. It's about increasing my quality of life

So much love for the people out there who gained weight in recovery. It's not mentioned much (maybe even at all) that gaining weight is just as vital to one's journey as anything else recovery-related, and that's really heartbreaking. Recovery can look like weight gain, and I am proud of anybody who has discovered that their bodies have changed for the better because of recovery 💛

As a 5’8” 200 lb marginally athletically lady, I 100% agree Jason is not sub 200lb
Thank you! I know people called me crazy for putting him at 280 for that salmon ladder fic but I believe if he’s 6’4 and insanely jacked AND wearing armor he’s gonna be hefty okay?

my mom weighed 110lbs when she died (at a height of 5’8) and people still desperately want to blame her being fat for her death because they think getting sick and dying happens when you make bad choices and not just when you’re a human being living on earth with the covid virus

bmi is bullshit anyway but i just realized adult bmi is calculated like.with ur height and weight and the bmi is what's used to determine ur bmi category (if ur "underweight" or "normal" or "overweight" or "obese"). whereas when youre a kid they calculate it with ur height and weight and then compare it to the bmis of other kids your age and THATS how they decide ur bmi category. not by how your body actually Is but by comparing it to other people. DOES THAT SEEM FUCKED UP TO ANYONE ELSE.

Just coming out of a period of being intensely ill means I have to have so much compassion on myself. Yeah, I had no capacity to be active, I gained weight. Yeah, I had little capacity to prep good foods, so I ate what I could. Yeah, I didn't get anything productive done, but I stayed alive.

been barely eating this month and ive been noticing that i’m having to wear a belt with stuff i didn’t have to before/ cinching belts tighter with things and getting compliments from family and today i was on the phone with my gf and realized my regular pants looked a little ridiculous on me and felt shitty about it so i said “i think ive lost weight” and my gf said “hey.. that’s ok :(” in a very comforting voice that was definitely like “i know this is not news you’re happy to give me” and idk it felt really nice that she treated it as a neutral thing that she recognized was negative for me instead of trying to pose it as a good thing

No but it breaks my heart that so many people would rather carry around relationship ruining levels of resentment for months than say stuff like "could you please not comment on my weight?" or "could you please stop leaving dirty plates all over our flat?" or "I'd rather you didn't talk about your sex life with me" or "I'm not comfortable being your only support system in this crisis" or whatever the fuck. Because often fixing it would literally be that easy

My biggest pieces of advice to people who want to get into fitness would be generally:
1. Fitness shouldn't be used to punish yourself
2. Setting goals that prioritizes your body's abilities over aesthetics can be more helpful (e.g., my main goals for fitness are to improve my cardiovascular system, which I find has been more helpful than "get buff" as a goal)
3. There is no such thing as "wrong" fitness, so long as your body is safe. If you're disabled, for instance, your fitness will likely look different than an able-bodied person's, and that is not a bad thing. Do what your body is able to do and what is most enjoyable
4. If you are fat, you might not lose weight by being physically active. You may gain weight if you are gaining muscle, and that's okay. Additionally, you don't have to make your fitness goal "losing weight." Your goals don't even have to involve your weight because that isn't the end all be all of fitness. Fitness doesn't exist to solely make you lose weight
5. It's okay to adapt fitness routines in accordance with what your body can currently do - no shame is needed, also!
