Regulus had never expected to be involved in the water balloon fight. He was quite happy to distance himself from the soaking projectiles, as was Remus.
But when a balloon in Sirius's hand went astray, drenching Regulus's sweatshirt, he had no choice but to strip off the sweatshirt and throw a balloon right back at his brother.
When it hit Sirius square in the face, Peter gasped, James cheered, and Remus laughed as Sirius stood there in shock. Then all chaos broke out once again, and a full-on war began. But this time Regulus joined in, fighting alongside James against Peter and Sirius. Soon the two members of the unlikely pairing were hurling balloons so fast and so fierce that the others could barely see to throw back. The defeated duo collapsed to the ground when the last balloon was thrown.
When they did, James whooped in triumph, picking Regulus up and spinning him around, much to Regulus’s shock. When James set him back down he was grinning, and Regulus couldn’t help a small smile of his own.
“Make quite the team, don’t we?” Asked James, still smiling and sweaty and dripping wet. Regulus took him in, donned in nothing but slipping red swim trunks and a silver necklace Sirius had gotten him. His hair was wet and floppy, eyelashes clinging together and his muscles were glistening in the sun. Not to mention the considerable bulge in the clingy swim trunks.
“Indeed we do.” Regulus replied, watching James’s stance shift after Regulus essentially checked him out. “Maybe we should do it again sometime.” Regulus added, and James’s face lit up.
Regulus may have been averse to water balloons before, but they had gotten him a hug from a half-naked James Potter. Who could complain about that?
