i start with a bunch of random sketches to get the feel of the person.. that's why so many of my early posts were doodle pages. to me, character design is more based on what the person is like rather than what they look like. i think a lot of people do that
I do this with all of the above and shape language, but in bigger art pieces outside of lineups i also use color and perspective (as in youll see more of someone like spepticle in large, sweeping scenes while someone like zam in closed, heavily perspective-based ones) to indicate personality. ill change designs when suited for this too (spoke with or without a gas mask, vi with or without a mouth, etc etc)
my first iteration of lifesteal designs heavily relied on the look of the skins and were gradually tweaked over time. my most prominent example of this is my spoke design, so i'll use him at least once in the examples for continuous comparison.
i watch a couple of each person's videos first, understand their voice, personality, and what they do, then focus on them in other people's videos too to get a full story, their movement, and what others think of them (helps with personality and things we might not see). streams are the most helpful because they're less biased and you see so much more of their antics. huge stream fan.

this process doesnt go in order for some designs and others have a more prominent focus on particular parts of the process that override or effect other parts
Voice
starting off with not spoke here's a problem i encountered when designing wemmbu
I based him a lot off of spoke and ashswag due to not knowing much about him besides the fact that he schemes (spoke&ash-esque) and he doesn't move his character around too much when talking (ash behavior). he didn't match the left one because his voice doesn't have the dramatic, flamboyant fratboy flair that spoke has, so I shifted it to be more friendly yet still dangerous with curved square shapes rather than triangles. i made his scheming, diabolical nature more evident through his clothing that's pretty jester-like and sharp, but with a smoother middle that spoke doesn't have (and to match his eyes).
voice also impacts character height. i dont know how to describe this. mapicc and zam are similar heights because their voices are similar, same goes for parrot and vortex, but leo and vitalasy are close to the same height (due to vitalasy's huge fuckass ears) despite having wildly different voices, with leo's bold text voice and vitalasy's higher-pitched jumbled kinda speech they still take up the same "amount of space" in conversation. they stand out. and even though spoke's voice also stands out an incredible amount he is still only slightly taller than average. this is where personality overrides voice in my designs.
Personality
spoke is sharp in every sense of the word, but is also able to mold himself around to get what he needs.
my first attempt at him was pretty lackluster. i didn't know much of him at the time, only his wither video, and thus understood him mainly through his association with parrot. he seemed a lot more evil and more serious at first glance. like woah! fully fledged mouth and nose?! not anymore.
i cover certain expressive parts to also depict more of their personality in some abstract, holistic way. after watching streams and whatnot, spoke doesnt actually speak (excluding his random sounds and yips or whatever he does) too terribly much, except when the spotlight is on him or he's trying to get something. so, i tweaked his design to encompass that when i understood him better.
i take away his arms to allow his hands to stand out more (character movement thing, he moves around a lot when no one is paying attention to him, punches the air when ..not talking but making a point ig. he's a big fan of hovering menacingly), i give him a slinky-like outside skeletal structure to both capture his affinity for withers (i made him a wither thing because of the wither sounds in his video.. and the withers in general) and to give him the feeling of more freedom with his movement.
i also just really like gas masks so. basically, spoke is someone that hides away until he chooses to stand out. thank lord heaven he looks like some shadow creature.
later on i gave him more magenta highlights, especially in the wormhole era because 1. magenta wasnt heavily included in his rainbow look, making it stand out on his whole being, and 2. because magenta is really really cool and people should use it more.
og minecraft skin/branding
hi spokeis here. this will be quick because his branding is so heavy. lightning, rainbow, black. boom. character. withers and white eyes? easy. causes a lot of anarchy? again, lightning and withers.
planetlord on the other hand is someone i greatly differed from the og skin and branding. i saw the design in a vision idk. i shift his colors all the time in different pieces but i use more of his pfp colors now because there's too many purples in this world. his branding, personality, and voice all connect very well. a bit misleading, he's a bit of a weasel.
Movement
i never used to look into movement, but pvp styles and conversational movement of lifesteal is intriguing. unfortunately it was only something i started paying attention to during the end of s4 because vitalasy's movement was so interesting. he's a big fan of getting in people's faces.
ill be real, i didn't really notice spoke a lot during things because he was almost always never alone, and when he was it is always at a distance or you knew he had people to back him up.
spoke's movement isn't actually too abnormal. he's goal oriented and tends to always be doing something, and when he does he finds the most efficient way possible. pretty basic. his design choices are based mainly on voice and personality.
someone like mapicc on the other hand has very particular movement. he spins around people when fighting and gets right up in their face (in nethpot pvp mostly), so i made his clothing tighter to the skin with looser parts to accentuate that movement: practical clothing for close combat battles. it was also noticed (by the lord) that he tends to look straight forward instead of the slightly down that most players do.
zam fights differently, but i made him with the og branding (he's princezam) and what he does in mind. his body language in my art is more indicative of his personality.
Other people's fanart
shoutout the community, a notable amount of ideas were from the mid-late 2022 lifesteal community.
dog leowook and leather jacket mapicc were from gen, jackalope rek from aoi i think, "croptop" jacket spoke from saints-blade, snail terrain from navy-leader, tv ashswag from kish, sock puppet red definitely from someone i dont remember, 4 armed squiddo from seri, and old cartoon jaron was from bucket
Things that happened/istarted talking about cultural inspirations
spoke and his connection to godhood influenced his redesign greatly. this section affects what the character wears most of the time.
i give both spoke and vitalasy painted palms (alta) due to their connection with godhood and destruction, with spoke in particular reminding me a lot of Kali Ma, thus i gave him a skirt (due to nppp too). vitalasy's clothing is based on Indonesian cultural clothing. wemmbu's also takes inspiration from Indonesian and Bhutan cultural clothing.
indigenous cultures inspired some designs too (i do a lot of ethnographic anthropology work with some of the tribes i base the clothing off of), with woogie having Yupik and Inuit inspiration. polar bear = cold climate in my head. and leo has Haida and Yunnan (minority Chinese providence, not a tribe) inspiration.
bacon's... not bacon strip design's clothing was based on Bangladeshi clothing (im Bangladeshi, i also added alpona patterns to ash's design), nomadic cultures, and some german pilgrim thing?? idk not my best design. i specifically looked for nomadic inspiration because of his willingness to flee at any moment lol. i didnt do this for rek despite his fleeing reputation because i dont watch rek content too much and he already had hybrid traits that took care of that presentation.
poafa's design is a goat because of the medusa trials where he was used as a scapegoat. makes sense i think. his horns are from past associations with jepex that infected mapicc as well (devil trio s1). zam's design is very much from s3 empire and s4 castle.
planet's design changed slightly, mostly rounder shapes, but also the number of "spikes" on his scarf, now stuck at three because of 3ht.. and easier to draw than five. minutetech has a bow instead of a bowtie from jumper due to s5 happenings. the gem on his crown has wemmbu's highlights from his gem's main color.
roshambo's design was also heavily influenced by medusa where i gave him a snake body. in my art that depicts before medusa events he doesn't have the snake body, and same goes with before s4 spoke where i draw him with full pants. in some sketches ive depicted mapicc with a muzzle only after the destruction of s4 spawn due to quix's mapicc dog influence shoutout.
mapicc and ro have matching things that persist seasons (mapicc periwinkle collar, ro red painted ring finger... head finger?), as did subz and vitalasy with matching shoulder pads (beginning of s4 subz had a bandana and vitalasy had a bell that traded between them through artworks of mine) Vitalasy also gained sun and moon earrings. mid and 4c have matching hoods/cloaks ^_^ marriage or something.

There you stood, awaiting Azula in an ever growing state of nervosity. Suddenly you weren't as sure that your plan would work out. But even the best plan seemed like that in these moments, you told yourself. Surely everything would turn out just fine, wouldn't it?
Luckily, you were snatched from your thoughts by the sound of an opening door; the conference was over. Now it was time for the real panic to begin; you felt a shiver go through your body when Azula entered the hallway. Although it was hard to talk properly being this nervous, you called for her. Surprised, she turned around on the spot: "Y/n! What are you doing here? Why weren't you at the conference?" Normally, you would have been flattered by the fact that she had even noticed your presence the last few times, as you had only sat in the back, where visitors were accommodated, but her tone made it sound like a reproach. Well, almost everything she said sounded like that, so you should feel honored nonetheless.
But you didn't want to waste any more time explaining, so you went to her and said that you wanted to give her something, your voice becoming more and more of a whisper. Azula raised an eyebrow and gave you a skeptical look: "You want to g i v e something to me? I don't think that there is anything you could give me that I do not already possess, but if you insist on doing so I recommend you don't waste any more of my precious time, y/n." As always, Azula knew exactly the right words to make you feel stressed - and give you butterflies, because you got to hear her beautiful voice say your name, but really, it was mainly stress she made you feel.
Being unable to say another word, you held the cloth the flower was wrapped in in front of her and gently unwrapped it, showing the panda lily in all its beauty. You felt a blush take over your face, making you lower your eyes.
When her hands brushed yours while she took the flower from you, you felt a shiver run through your body yet again, but this time it was a warm one, one you wanted to feel more often. You looked at her again, trying to find any change in her features, if anything had changed at all, that was.
To your surprise she looked confused - as if she didn't know what to do in this situation. It was an expression you had never seen before on her face. And one you hadn't expected - she was Azula, she always knew how to act. Also, this couldn't be the first time something like this happened to her, surely she must have had many admirers give her flowers before, right? Suddenly the thought crossed your mind that you might be the first person ever to give her this kind of affection, but you did not have the time to think about it, as Azula finally began to move.
She had been alarmed by the footsteps of an Admiral who was coming in your direction from the conference hall, and she was quick to act. In an instance blue flame flared up and consumed the entirety of the flower, so that only black ash was left.
You felt nothing anymore. Not your sadness, your desperation, your anger or the trembling whisper that was supposed to be your voice when you tried to ask her why she did this to you. She couldn't hear your words as they were stuck in your throat, but for the first time she seemed to understand what you wanted to tell her nonetheless, being quick to answer: "You know that I don't like flowers, y/n, especially none from the earth kingdom, our enemy. It was better I end that plant now than to let it rot in my chamber." She nodded in the direction of the Admiral: "Also, you should be careful about giving gifts to members of the royal family when your superiors are around." She left without giving you the chance to answer.

Gen VI, Complete!
You read that correctly, we've made it through PokeFrance (Official term for Kalos, honest!) and have compiled the data!
With that said, let us begin the usual look at this generations...
Sultans of Smash!
(Which is just my fancy way of saying they got more "Smash" than "Pass" votes)
So come with me on this fabulous journey in smashing! Our Smashables are (under the Read More because, you know, this gonna take a while):
1. So for this generation, we do have three starters on the list! But, sadly, Chesnaught couldn't make it. So for our first starter, we instead have our second middle evolution, Braixen! Suppose it's not hard to see why, everyone loves magical girls and Braixen certainly counts! Counts enough to get a 66.4% Smash rating, which is pretty good says I.
2. But far surpassing Braixen is the greatest of Pokemon fire mages, Delphox! And when I say surpass, I mean really surpasses! Delphox has the honor of being the first Starter Pokemon to make it into the Gods of Smash, with a mighty 80.9% Smash rating! There's no stopping the magic of this witch!
...Side note, I think I will be naming my next Delphox "Browser", because she's a Firefox. (Ba-Dum-Tss)
3. Similar to the samurai, ninja have long been one of the more interesting mainstays of Japanese pop culture (especially abroad), and are almost always popular. So it's understandable that Pokemon's own ninja, Greninja, would have their fair share of friends and admirers! And with a smash rating of 72.5% in Standard Form, god damn what fans they have! The Ash-Greninja form, while not quite as popular Standard Form, also makes it in with a 52% Smash rating! Looks like not even a ninja of this calibur can hide how smashable they are.
4. This next Pokemon has a pretty accurate name. Florges, a combination of "Flower" and Gorgeous", certainly describes them pretty well if you ask me! And judging by that solid 67.8% Smash rating she's earned herself, I'd say many of y'all agree!
5. Everyone knows the "Jerk with a Heart of Gold" character archetype, and the closely related "Bruiser with a Soft Center". And it cannot be understated that these character archetypes are super popular. So of course, combining them into a single Pokemon and making that Pokemon a panda? Instant recipe for success, I'm sure! And said Pokemon exists in the form of Pangoro! Are they loved? I dunno, let's ask that 67.9% Smash rating of theirs.
...Survey says yes.
6. Many of us love cats, but often wish it was easier to understand them (or at the very least make ourselves understood to them). Fortunately for the Pokemon universe, they do have cats that can understand us and be more easily understood in the form of the psychic Meowstic! Coming in at 68.1% Smashable for Female Meowstic and 59.3% Smashable for Male Meowstic, it seems some of y'all really appreciate these cats!
...Now if only Female Meowstic didn't tend to fall into the French/Kalosian stereotype of being kind of a jerk (according to the Pokedex, anyways)
7. If there's two things I've seen a number of tumblr users like, it's tentacles and hypno stuff. So with that in mind, Malamar having both makes it very unsurprising they've gained entry to the Sultans of Smash! That said, at a 51.7% Smash rating, I have to admit I expected larger numbers. But anyways... Wait wha-
ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOSQUID.
8. It's a tale as old as time, people look at the Tyrannosaurus Rex as a kid and think "That's them, that's the coolest fucking dinosaur ever!" While some move on or get different favorite dinosaurs, for some that passion never fades. And that passion for the majestic t.Rex, it seems, translates itself onto Tyrantrum! And at 53% Smashability, seems this king will have no reason to go on a tantrum.
(Thank god, I don't think we could handle the repair bills to the property if they did...)
9. The Aurora Borealis has fascinated humans since they've first been able to observe that wondrous display of light. Thankfully for those of us who don't live in polar regions, the color-changing sails of Aurorus can help capture the beauty of such a natural phenomenon! Certainly, many of you have expressed a desire to admire this Pokemon up close and personal, if that 65.9% smash rating is any indication! Though really, the ice crystals and geometric patterns on their scales also do a lot for the appeal of this cool customer.
10. Attention everyone, it is once again Real Eeveelution Hours! And for this list's Eeveelution, we have everyone's favorite walking trans flag, Sylveon! With their extendable ribbons, piercing blue eyes, and 69.3% Smash rating, it seems Sylveon continues the time-honored Eeveelution tradition of being absolutely smashable!
11. Hear me out here, what if snails and slugs were also... Dragons? If your answer to learning this was "Oh fuck yeah that sounds awesome!", then I have Good News! This Snail/Slug Dragon I proposed is a thing in the form of Goodra, with Kalosian Goodra being more slug-like and Hisuian Goodra being more snail-like! However people like them though, considering Kalosian Goodra has a 71.4% Smash rating and Hisuian Goodra has a 61.6% rating, it's clear people do like these dragons quite a bit.
12. It may not be Halloween, but for many of us there's always time for Jack-o'-Lanterns! And with Gourgeist, the next Pokemon on our list, you can have a jack-o'-lantern that can also be smashed, something a number of you want if that 50.4% Smash rating is any indication!
13. And next up on the list, we have a noisy one! Ever wondered what would happen if bats could be loud enough to shatter anything by yelling at it? Well, if Noivern and their 68% Smash rating is any indication, the answer is "People would want to smash it!" Though really, looking at them, I can safely say you'd have to be blind as a bat to not see the appeal.
Sorry, the pun had to be made.
14. I'm gonna be honest, I tried thinking long and hard on how to be crafty with my statement regarding this next one, but I just can't do it. I'd need more than one lifetime to make something fitting enough for this majestic deer! Fortunately, Xerneas can give one all the time in the world they need to think of stuff! And judging by that 66.5% Smash rating, I think a few of y'all have a few ideas on what to do with all the time Xerneas' immortality will give you...
15. But where there's life, there must, sadly, be death. Fortunately, death is this case is the very cool looking Yveltal, who has achieved an impressive 63.5% Smash rating! Seems that for some of y'all, "Death comes for you" has a different meaning...
16. Balance is an important part of any ecosystem. Too much death and you have no ecosystem, but too much life and you risk one particular part of that ecosystem overwhelming the rest. Fortunately, to prevent this from happening, Zygarde is here! And judging by how 50% Forme has a 52.3% Smash rating and Complete Forme has a 61.2% Smash rating, I'd say a number of you wish to show Zygarde your appreciation.
17. Diamonds are great. They're shiny, they're stupidly hard to damage, and they can come in a variety of colors! And that's just in our universe, the Pokemon universe is lucky and has Diancie, a living diamond Pokemon! And if Standard Form's 56.1% Rating and Mega Diancie's 65.3% rating is any indication, Diancie also adds "Very smashable" to the list of good diamond traits!
18. And for the finale, I present to you... Another Pokemon who only had an alternate form get in? Yep! It's Hoopa, the genie in a bottle Pokemon! Specifically, it's Hoopa Unbound, who makes it in with a 55.6% Smash rating! And with his rings, they'll show you the wo-

Ok my lawers just advised me to not finish that joke, so sadly I can't leave y'all on the Aladdin reference. But I can say that considering Hoopa has a history of stealing treasure with their rings, I'm beginning to suspect some of y'all have a thing for Pokemon with criminal tendencies...
And thus is the Gen VI Who's Who of Smashing concluded, bringing us up to 136 Sultans of Smash! Well then let's see what's next...

Sorry this took so long! Had the playlist itself ready for a good while, but hadn't gotten to the cover art.
Oh, boy. I thought I had things to explain before, but I went absolute clown mode on this one. I'm pretty glad I have things to say about this list, since John can feel a bit overlooked despite being just as interesting of a character as the rest. It's probably a mixture of him being the outdoorsy guy and his backstory, buuut...
Here's the John playlist for all the sunny sweethearts! Expect some bumps in the road, though. There's also some long songs in this one, including one I mentally wrestled over for a good while before even putting this list together (the opera one, in case anyone's curious).
Wellerman, covered by The Longest Johns, is my choice for the first song. John's listed favorite genres are sea shanties and celtic music, so it had to be one or the other. I guess it was sort of a good thing people lost their minds during the pandemic and returned to sea shanties (actually the pandemic was genuinely terrible, even if the shanties were fine). I think that this is the only a capella song in the playlists.
The second song is Mountain Sound by Of Monsters and Men. I wanted something kind of upbeat and I liked the theme of running from your past, for reasons. If you know, you know. Spoiler cut below for Picture Perfect Boyfriend's bonus word doc, as well as Picture Perfect Boyfriend REBOOT.
Bust Your Knee Caps by Pomplamoose is an option I was mentally eyeballing for a while for John's old identity, Max. That dude has major gangster vibes, so I had to put this in. He almost beats the player with brass knuckles, so I feel secure in this assessment.
Each and Every One is a song I decided to add in for the Glory version of Lily, someone that Max held a flame for. Needless to say, she couldn't bear how miserable things had become around him and I think this is a good song to reflect that. While Max did seem to have a soft spot for her, he doesn't seem adept at hiding his general nature and low opinion of other people around him.
This next song is like 12 minutes long and I can't believe I'm subjecting you guys to this. You have to understand, though: At heart, I'm old-school Final Fantasy garbage. So, yeah, we have a Distant Worlds concert recording of Opera "Maria and Draco" (from Final Fantasy VI). If there was a trimmed down version, maybe I could have gone for that. I chose this for the Lily, Eislied, and Max love triangle (who, in the song, would be Maria the mezzo-soprano, Draco the tenor, and Ralse the baritone, respectively). It seemed like Max would have taken losing a tad more gracefully (like Ralse respecting the results of the duel) if not for Lily's tragically young death, which leads us to...
Bitch Better Have My Money by Rihanna and I'd pretty self-explanitory, with how Max extorted Vincent's father. While Max had gotten worse to people after Lily left him, taking it out on everyone under him more and more, I get the feeling something well and truly snapped when she died. Maybe he could have learned to cope in time (not that it would be any consolation to the people he tormented), but I doubt he saw any value in self-improvement once Lily was gone. Really foolish, since his vile behavior was what pushed her away in the first place, but grief's not always rational.
Oak & Ash & Thorn is the transition between the absurdly cruel Max to the gentle protector John. That amnesia was practically like a spell on him. The Morning Dew is next and that one's some classic celtic music to chill or dance to.
Next up is Apple Green by Mother Earth because I have to inflict acid jazz upon everyone once again. I think it's safe to say that John wasn't some type of nature enjoyer in his previous life as Max, but that's behind him now. He definitely appreciates the beauty and color of the world around him now and I wanted to put this song in to reflect that.
The Mariner's Revenge Song by The Decemberists is also pretty long, so I'm feeling kind of silly in retrospect for worrying about song length back in Ashton's playlist. Then again, both the opera song and this one are both story songs, so I find it a bit easier to justify their lengths. This is a special choice, in that there's a side story (the word doc I mentioned before) about Vincent first meeting John and realizing right away that this was Max with amnesia.
Autumn's Song is here to represent John's favorite season. The nostalgic nature of it can hint at those old memories simmering inside of him, something that he understandably fears.
I wouldn't blame you guys if you clowned the hell out of me for this next one, but I chose Rainbow Connection by Kermit, from The Muppet Movie. It's just such a simple and sweet song. I feel like it really fits in with John being a kind and romantic person, seeing beauty and mystery in life when he hadn't before. I imagine John's flights of fancy also probably irritate Ashino a bit, which is funny with him having a crush on Kadsey. Wildflower Jigs is another song in here for the good vibes. Who doesn't enjoy a good jig, right? It kind of makes me miss ren fairs, since I haven't been to any since the pandemic.
Blackbird/Yesterday is an interesting Beatles mashup that was made for the Cirque du Soleil show, Love, and I think the sentiments of both songs really fit with John in general. Yesterday, the song that the lyrics are from, is a classic about the pain of being left behind by an important woman while Blackbird, which the guitar is taken from, is a song that's a little more abstract (to a degree) but always feels to me like moving past the pain life can bring. Both of the songs Stardust (Vocal Version) by Hoagy Carmichael and Happy to Be Here by Wookiefoot are for John's recovered memories. I feel like a crooner song fits Max (or at least his old-timey gangster vibes, since it's hard for me to imagine Max actually enjoying any particular genre) more while something somewhat more contemporary fits John, at least in that John is the here and now. In general, John seems like a very "happy to be here" sort of guy, even if things can be tough.
Bonny Portmore by Loreena McKennitt and In the Woods Somewhere by Hozier are to reflect the danger to the woods that John has called home for a while and the animals he's resolved to protect. If it weren't for that and Vincent's troubles, I have a feeling that John would've willfully stayed in the dark about his past for longer. I was also wondering while listening to In the Woods Somewhere if John ever has small recollections of being murdered, though he didn't really have time to process what happened. This leads us into Hello My Old Heart by The Oh Hellos, where John finally admits aloud that he's Max. I like the theme of this song, that you can't grow if you hide your heart away.
Remember when I chose a song in Vincent's playlist to acknowledge the yandere ends? Here's round 2: electric-boogaloo with the song Honeybee by Steam Powered Giraffe. Harmonizing singing groups (like barbershop quartets and such) seem like something that John could really appreciate. Also, very convenient title, considering one of the consistent particular details between the yandere ends. Again, I have speculations about what that all means and those make me pretty pleased that this recording is also an ensemble sort of song instead of a solo. I think it's a solo when played live, but I'll admit that I've never seen these guys perform despite some overlap in convention visits.
Thus Always To Tyrants feels like a good song for acknowledging that Max is John's past, but it's not who he needs to be in every way despite reclaiming that identity. That's kind of a given, but I feel for him and his fear to never become such a horrendous person again. Now that I think about it, he and Ashton could make a support group. Maybe they could drag Ashino in early, too, to save us all some grief.
Closing things off with the classic John Denver song Take Me Home, Country Roads. While John has to fit into his old life to some extent, he's taking all that he's become with him and being a better person for it. That's another great ending that I hope can stick.

I understand Dia, but why is Platinum surprised? She literally fought a group of Kricketot and Kricketune on her second day of traveling.
One thing the anime did good was using this characteristic of Drapion just like here. Paul vs Ash at the Sinnoh league, you'll forever be famous.
The Commoner shippers must have been so happy back in the day. Just look at them, how much they trust each other.
That is one strong light. Makes me wonder if Pearl saw it too when Dia met Mesprit at Lake Verity, because it's really hard to miss.

At this point in the timeline Dia and Platinum had already seen Mesprit and Uxie, so it's nice that he's the only one thinking back to what happened here. It does also make sense later on that he's the only one not fully involved in the lakes trio's story.

His head was ringing. His vision had been a blurry mockery of you being punished for crimes he committed. Looking around him he didn't recognize the part of Brooklyn he had ended up and that was strange because he thought he knew Brooklyn like the palm of his hand. Then again, he only had one hand left. He was wandering around aimlessly trying to figure out a plan, trying to understand where you had been kept. The truth was he was afraid what he might find, and no one could ease his mind, but above all no one could stop the Winter Soldier from taking over again. He was aware of the darkness inside of him trying to take control again but he was also aware that it would be the last thing you would want for him. Being in such a conflict with himself was not something he was not familiar with… you weren't around before and he had to deal with that himself. So why did he feel so isolated and segregated from everyone and everything around him this time?
He had heard the rumors about Dr. Faustus. He knew what he was capable of. If hydra was bad and evil, he was the devil. He knew that Faustus was aware of your time travel and the formula you had found. Of course, that notebook was now ashes, but the formula resided somewhere inside. He knew that he would do anything and everything to extract it from you. And why not make you the perfect weapon against the failed experiment he was? And so in an ironical turn of events, Faustus had everything handed to him. You included. And for that, Bucky would never be able to forgive himself.
You woke up with a sensation of pain and ice spreading through your body. You thought that they might have originated from someplace in your chest because you felt empty there. Needles were piercing your skin and things were being injected. You hated needles with all your might, and you couldn't for the love of everything divine, witness what they were doing to you. You could see a dark room, lighted only by surgical lights. Obviously, you thought. You weren’t on vocation. You were trying to keep your mind away from the thought of Bucky these past two weeks well trying to remember only good old memories and not worrying about his mental disposition at the moment, but it was aimless. All you could think about was what he was doing without you, if he had been withdrawn from everybody else, if he started hating himself, if he had gone back into missions and recklessness just to forget.
You had to be completely honest with yourself. You weren't sure if he had even gone back to being the soldier. You couldn’t bring yourself to think of him as anything else than an incredibly gentle, soft, kind and beautiful man. A sharp pain shook you awake.
Being chained and strapped to the chair, was not your thing but they didn’t care. It was a surreal feeling, as if you were not in your body but looking at it from afar. You had no idea of the humiliation and violation until these men handled your body. You were a toy for them to break and they did, in so many creative ways. Electrocution was the simplest of them. You could take a beating like a pro, you could survive a couple of days in starvation, living without water was easy. Physiologically, you could take it. Psychologically, you were already dead. The things they were making you believe, how they broke you piece by piece, it was all carefully planned.
The room was still dark and cold, and the monitors were beeping, in a high-pitched manner was echoing. You could see their lab coats and their black armor, but their faces were covered. What a way to dehumanize a person. This was not the first time you had been led to this god-forsaken chair. You knew what was about to happen to you, to your will and to your body. In this moment, you didn’t know if your mind or your body was the weaker part of you. You were expecting the paddles that would affix to your face. No matter how many times you had done something to disrespect them, to escape, to defend yourself, you had found out that their treatment was standardized and basic but effective; beating you to near-death, almost drowning you, making you believe the things they said, even though you knew all of them to be lies.
You knew that they didn’t need an army, nor did they want one. All they needed was the formula on your brain. You didn’t even remember it clearly, but they had their ways of getting that information. Faustus was never here, in this part of the base; his minions were pulling the levers and right now, another one was mocking at you by the pulsing electricity that was running through your face, making you scream.
Three weeks had passed, and you were thrown into that chair, every day. You tried to keep up your walls, but nothing was capable of stopping them. You soon learned to obey them, even if you hated every minute. They were starving you and Faustus was not happy.
“We need her to be in her best shape, not this bonnie mess” he stated and proceeded with his evaluation. You weren’t sure what that word meant but you were about to find out. Οne of the faceless doctors was measuring an aquamarine-like liquid and without hesitation he injected you. The first time hurt, and you jolted… restrained by the chains. The second time, you hissed at him. By the fifth time, your face said nothing more than emptiness. You knew that something was wrong when your head was pulsing like it was on fire Until a white serum was injected, and you passed out.
He was slipping away from his own mind. Not so fast that someone else would notice, but faster than he had believed he would. He knew it would happen sooner or later; losing you was the single most annihilating thing it could happen. He was tempted to let go altogether but at the same time, if he did, he would never see you again. He wasn’t sure which was grimmer. It was time to give up again for a while. He didn’t on getting up tomorrow for his life, not when more than a month had gone by and you were still missing. He took ten sleep aid pills. He just wanted to sleep for days and isolate himself. His mental state had become a problem not just for him, but it was disruptive to his friend’s and the world’s lives. And he didn’t get better even when he tried.
He knew that turning himself off for the numbness of the Winter Soldier to take over, was not an act of courage. He didn’t have the courage to kill himself but always wished he would just die somehow. Steve and Nat were moving here to his apartment complex, and he was terrified to have to try to be Bucky again he felt extreme guilt for feeling that way. He was given the choice to return to the compound, but he would never. He was not the kind person you had believed. He had meltdowns constantly and made everything difficult. His mental state deteriorated more and more every day. His constant thoughts and intrusive thoughts never stopped. He had no other outlet to feel better. Deep down he knew that there was no hope for him if you weren’t there. He just kept trying to fake his way through each day for their sake, but it has been building up again and he was seconds away from snapping.
He remained still for a second more, hiding in the shadows. He had told everyone that if he couldn’t find where you were, he would become the Winter Soldier – he had used it as a threat against them, which made it easier to slip away from Brooklyn to Alaska, almost unnoticed and without the need to put up a fight. It made sense for him to search there, but it turned out to be a false alarm. Smuggling guns and drugs were not his concern. He did call it in but left and went to the one place, he knew it would be almost impossible to find you. Faustus’s base. Austria.

1. Rell.
Reasons: armor horse fuck you
I'm dead serious give her a show. She's an unpopular character in LoL for whatever fucking reason that's probably stupid, but she's a blorbo I know she is. She just needs an avenue that let's me form a proper emotional attachment.
2. Lux
Is it because lightcannon grabbed me by the hair and dragged me into hell? Well. Yeah. But also because when I say "Arcane-style" I mean in terms of making the politics around Piltover and Zaun actually nuanced and interesting, and if Lux (and Demacia) needs anything, it's nuance.
Also Sylas was right no I won't be elaborating.
3. Sara Fortune
Ruined King version ONLY, none of that "she uses her power of seduction to lower mens' guards" bullshit. I don't care how horny she makes you it's BORING.
4. Ashe
First, I need to warn the CaitVi girlies that Ashe and Sejuani are a bit awkward to ship because they're technically very distant cousins. I think. It's either that or reincarnations of two sisters but I haven't really clarified. But come on this shit would be epic. It would also give literally anyone an opportunity to give Ashe some proper fucking winter clothes oh my god.
5. Leona and Diana
Speaking of the CaitVi girlies, here's another pair of canon gays for you. Also there is a lot of shit going on with like, gods and demons and Celestials and Aspects and whatever the fuck else in LoL's lore and I do not have the mental capacity to explain or understand it all. So a show exploring that would be nice.

Have you sold something from your Candlemass collection??
Yes, I sold Chapter VI/Dactilys Glomerata/From the 13th Sun. Also a spare copy of a Nightfall tape (first press). Also an Epicus shirt.
And here's two items I regret selling: Wiz single (red 10" vinyl) and a test pressing vinyl of King of the Grey Islands 😭 why? the Wiz single is selling for around $30 usd now (without shipping) and I sold it for much less... also, I think besides "Don't Fear the Reaper" it's the only Candlemass single released in 10" size. My "Don't Fear the Reaper" feels alone being the only 10" single in my box and I'm not sure if buy it again in other color.
And I cry every time I think about the King of the Grey Islands test pressing vinyl. I haven't seen it for sale (at least during the last 2-3 years) but I sold it because I needed the money and wanted to get rid of it. That was a kind of "gift" my ex girlfriend gave me, because she really hated Candlemass and she knew I was like growing apart from the band because I wasn't happy with the lineup change. I was expecting that album to be released with Messiah and I hated Robert with all my heart so her gift was intended to hurt me. She had a friend working in Nuclear Blast at the time so that's how she got it.
You can understand why I regret it so much right now 🥹 a test pressing is something I'm missing in my humble collection... recently I saw one of "Ashes to Ashes" selling on eBay but it was sold hours before I get the money to buy it 😭

…Out of curiosity, what’s your least favourite skin line?
ah i see... blood, i like that.
Ok so i hate Riot and i like destroying like a kaiju with rabies so, i consider a skinline something that has at least 2 sets, cause saying Zenith Games would be repetitive and we all know that was a literal crime. So if i had to say one, Project.
Okay, the first release of Project was good, i dont really remember if i saw the release when i started playing, but the initial skins were good. The colors were well put on, the whole mecha but prothesic but futuristic stuff was well glued together, the designs were neat! They were simpler, but well put together. The only itch i have is that they made women have like, at least the half down of her face uncovered while the men champions get all their face covered. But yeah, Riot making gendered accentuations in skins, we have been knew, it keeps happening.
Master Yi and Ashe were cool when they came out eventually, again i think they are neat (gendered nonetheless) and Yi had cool interactions, Ashe had that toggle where she uncovers/covers with her hood when surrounded by enemies or being alone, wich is cool for a legendary skin from back in the day.
Vayne, Vi and Jhin were also good, Jhin is iconic, i think Vayne has a good skin, Vi went kinda on the irrelevant hole but its a neat skin nonetheless. See this is exactly what happends in all of the skinlines riot has exploited. They make good shit until they realize they can milk fans EVEN MORE and then start to get lazy.
I dont understand the downgrade with the next skin set. It was hideous, they made Pyke so dirty with a literal scam skin that recycles the default animations a lot of the time but still costs 15 dollars, and the whole story was very mushy imo. The gender remark on the skins started to get frustrating. Cause of course Irelia is pink cause shes a woman and she's also showing her face, Fiora was pink. Katarina is also pink. Jinx is purple thank god but thats probably because she was released alongside Irelia because in another case they would have made her PINK cause she's a GIRL. On the other hand Akali is there and everyone has ONE colour just not to mess up with the palette but they give her BLUE hair and RED weapons. Honey just pick a damn fucking colour you cant have both.
Since then everything has been crashing down, honestly i cant remember when did Katarina and Ekko appear but they were before Pyke and his gang release and i dont think they are bad skins entirely i just think its obvious that Kata is pink. At least they also show Ekko's half face.
There's this weird ass change (i didnt read the lore nor i care but...) were they were like robots at first and there was also human characters and now they're just HUMAN CHARACTERS or human characters stuck in ANIMAL MECHA SUITS im loosing a braincell typing this. Project Mordekaiser? They said it was the best skin in the whole game. Im not anyone to interfere on their opinion and i think their opinion is great but here's my angry opinion: Bullshit, fan inflated, male character oogabooga, if they did same with a female character everyone would be zzz. Project Renekton is eh? Project Warwick is also an eh? No clue why they started with a lets make the animal characters in project and put guys inside like. They dont know about the springlocks wink wink. I often forget Sejuani exists in this universe but yeah she has a robot pig. Or is it a guy in four inside a pig suit? Tell me cause i didnt get the memo quite well. Senna is purple cause making her pink was going to be obvious and anyway doesnt fit her aesthetic but its also a forgettable skin, at leasy you can pair it with Lucian, her face being shown of course cause yeah Riot being creative. Project Sylas is HIDEOUS i've never seen such a terrible concept of a skin he's just himself in his canon outfit but with changed colours and they keep trying to sell it to me for 10 dollars. Project Varus is literally the same as Akali but less painful, honey just pick a colour you cant be blue and yellow. Icky.
In conclusion: Girls in mecha futuristic suits show their faces cause they are too pretty to be covered even when there are laser blasters and stuff falling from the ceiling. Sylas is shirtless and thats his entire personality in the skinline. They made Pyke dirty (honestly this is my most painful statement, im drying my tears with my Project: Pyke and his 7 chromas). There are guys inside animal suits but Bristle is there so i just raise my eyebrow in confusion. Mordekaiser being the best thing to ever happen to humanity after the discovery of fire according to the fans. Etc
Anyway, set in on fire.

These last few days, I've been trying to think of what I want out of a Final Fantasy XVII. And I've definitely had some interesting thoughts there.
But one thing I definitely want--which I just know is a surprise to everyone, I say sarcastically--is a female protagonist... which I'm sure would go over really well with the people who hated Final Fantasy XIII. -shifty eyes- (However, people seemed excited about the idea of Agni's Philosophy, that would have no doubt had a female lead.)
However, enough time has passed since XIII, right? I'd like to try this idea again. Especially since, let's be honest, the real leads of Final Fantasy VII, X, and XII are Terra, Yuna, and Ashe respectively, even if you might not know it because you don't necessarily play as them... So obviously female Final Fantasy leads can be done and done well. Why, then, does suddenly making them the playable character make a difference? (I know it's just because people didn't like Lightning. So let's make a character that everyone likes, then.)
Although, if I'm being honest, I also mostly don't trust Square Enix when it comes to writing female characters anymore. Though I still don't want them to give up, of course. So who would I even want to attempt this?
Kazushige Nojima comes to mind, as he's penned a lot of our favorite Final Fantasy games, of course (and some of our favorite leading ladies in them, like in VII and X). So if he wasn't busy, he could surely be great for this... However, I'm also somewhat afraid of his work now, because of the Final Fantasy X-3 stuff, but hopefully that was the one time he really failed--and will ever fail--amidst all of his stellar work.
Yasumi Matsuno, who was responsible for Final Fantasy XII and Vagrant Story? I'll admit that I'm a terrible person who has never played Vagrant Story, though I did start watching a walkthrough for it years ago... and though I loved it, for whatever reason I never finished it. Back then I had started watching a million different playthroughs of games and couldn't commit to one (I think because I had a busy work schedule hen, and if I chose one, I wanted it to be worth it. Not that Vagrant Story wasn't. It most definitely was... I also was so overworked back then, I would sometimes fall asleep while watching the games, sadly, like with Final Fantasy VI--that had nothing to do with the games themselves, but how tired I was, which is why I inevitably gave up on this whole endeavor). But even so, I of course could tell how genius the game was, and I can definitely understand why so many people love it and are clamoring for a remake of it. As a whole, I feel both of these games are very well-done and greatly scripted. And, while I'll admit, that the Final Fantasy XII heroines don't grab me as much as some of the other ones in the series do, they're still extraordinary ones, nonetheless. And no one can argue how great Ashe was at directing the plot of XII. So if Matsuno wanted to direct a female led FFXVII, I would be all for it.
Naoki Yoshida. While I do think some of the stuff with Jill fell apart at the end of Final Fantasy XVI, I felt like she was a wonderful heroine for most of the game--and I like the girls in all of this installment--so I wouldn't mind giving him another chance. And another chance at the next FF installment in general, as there was so much about FFXVI that really hit the mark and that I loved: and I think that many people agree with that sentiment.
Yoko Taro. I'll admit that the only thing I know about Yoko Taro is the little bit of the first NieR I saw from a playthrough I watched (so I might not be the best person to talk about this). But he's always willing to bring crazy ideas to the table, it sounds like, and to experiment. So if he'd be up for trying such a thing, I'd most definitely let him try.
Motomu Toriyama. Yeah, this isn't going to happen with how much everyone hated his XIII trilogy. But all of his female characters in the XIII games were so great, imo (-shot-). And he's partly responsible for X and X-2, as well, and the ladies were wonderful there, as well (he's also helping out with the FFVIIR stuff, and we all love Tifa, Aerith, and Yuffie). Oh well...
Akiko Ishibashi. She was a female writer on Neo TWEWY. And I loved how our ladies there were handled--and, of course, having a woman write other women (or to at least help out with that process) is most definitely a good thing--and now she's helping out with the Kingdom Hearts series... which is a godsend. And I don't really want to take her away from there, because Lord knows we need her when it comes to KH. But if she were to also help out a bit with FFXVI, I certainly wouldn't mind that.

Vi and the use of violence: yet another Arcane metapost
I recently saw someone complaining as to why Vi didn’t kill Sevika in their last fight and yes that’s apparently enough to send me into a new ramble.
Alright, let’s start at the very beginning.
If there’s one clear thing about Vi’s life, is that there is a before, and an after. The death of her parents at the hands of the enforcers. By implications from later episodes, that she was poor before, but she had a home, and her parents, and her little sister Powder. In the blink of an eye, her life flipped, and much like the scene, it colored crimson and ash. Her parents died, her home and her roof, what little safety she had, vanished. The only remnant, her little sister, no more than a babe.
Taken in by Vander, whether by her choice or his, one thing is clear. He taught her how to fight, and more importantly, he taught her how to fight like him.
But I think it’s fitting to remember, the way Vander fights is he fights to kill. Or used to, at the very least. The only reason that changes is the dawning realization he got the parents of two innocent little girls killed.
So he teaches Vi how to fight, but he teaches her in a way she will never have to commit the same sins as he did. He reinforces over and over that she has to ‘‘protect’’ her family. Something he never did, not with Silco and not with The Lanes.
As she grows, this mentality is reinforced, in a place and an enviroment like The Lanes, if you don’t know how to fight, you’ll get stomped and hurt, knowing what happened to her parents, however, it’s not just death that frightens her the most, or what worries her. It’s also getting hurt, it’s the one she cares about getting hurt.
This shows especially through her interactions with Powder, she encourages her to fight from afar not just as a means of accepting her sister as different, but because it’s the safest way she can fight. Sure, though she desires a better chance at life for Powder, she’s grounded enough to understand the world they live in doesn’t treat kindly to those who don’t fight, who can’t stand their ground. She’ll get her involved and ready for missions that don’t necessarily require confrontation, but the minute Powder is in any physical harm’s threat, she won’t allow.
She knows her fists are to protect her family, her loved ones, even while rescuing Vander, even when clearly faced with the threat of absolute death as she had just witnessed Benzo’s fall, the shimmer monster, Vi still fights to protect, to grant one more day of life, one more hour, one more second of breath. She fights to gain time, to obtain something, not to lose or sacrifice.
That is, until she hurts Powder.
Her sister’s blood ran on her hands, her family all laid dead, she failed to protect them, so all she had left at that point, in her eyes, was violence. Fire, pain, blood, it’s all that’d crafted who she was, who she’d grown to be, and what her role and path in this life is.
Protect? Defend? What use were all those when she did everything right and yet, she failed? She failed her family, she lost them all, even Powder, she failed her, she hurt the one person in the world she had left, and morally, she crossed a line she could not come back from, so she set herself aside because she became the very thing she fought against; someone who hurt her family.
From there on, Vi fights for two main reasons:
To make things right (find her sister, take care of her like she’s supposed to, heal The Lanes/the undercity).
Vengeance (for Mylo, Claggor, her parents and especially, Vander).
There is nothing she has left to protect. In her mind, there are no wounds to prevent, only those whose bleeding she has to stop.
So she grows up, gets her chance to step back in the real world, and immediately tries to stop Silco’s assault on The Lanes and retrieve her sister. Over and over, even when told her sister is working with him willingly, that her name is now Jinx, that though others tried and failed to stop Silco, that the council rejects the motion and petition to take action, none of this stops her in her desire to reach her goals.
The first reason is shown throughout the series, it’s the main conflict, so I don’t think I have to dwell too much on it, but the second shows especially through one particular thing: Her ongoing personal vendetta with Sevika.
It’s not hard to understand why she hates her, it’s not just a metaphorical, painful way of showing how Vi advances through the series and how she learns to fight and overcome her enemies not with brute strength alone, but with the defense AND her own wits. Personally, Sevika is the reason it all is the way it is.
She sold Vander, she switched sides not out of convenience but out of pure hatred and disappointment towards Vander’s actions. Sure, she might not have sold his location (as it’s clear it’s Marcus that did) but that doesn’t matter; to her, Sevika is everything that’s wrong with The Lanes, it is now a place full of people who can and will sell anyone for their benefit, and yet, it’s her home, those two ideas coexist and clash all the time within Vi.
She chases after her over and over simply to cause her pain, to retaliate, to make Sevika go through what she has for over a decade, not just the pain of losing her family, or the way she had to live in The Lanes, but the pain she experienced in Stillwater and what she’s done to The Lanes by working alongside Silco, the deep-rooted corruption of The Lanes lives in Sevika, she’s the physical embodiment of it, even more so than Silco. And she KNOWS she cannot kill Sevika, no matter how much she tries, whether she wants to or not, she’ll never be able to directly kill Sevika as in deliver a final blow.
I hardly doubt that Sevika lasting this long can be attributed to plot armor, or even ONLY the effects of the shimmer she uses (though with Vander’s death I highly doubt the shimmer could’ve kept her alive somehow, then again, progress of science and stuff), but more so that within the story, as long as Vi can fight, she will have to.
And she will always have to fight Sevika. Sevika is just a physical manifestation of all of Vi’s demons. It’s not only a matter of overcoming trials or rites of passage anymore, Vi uses her fists, and fights, and she acts violently to make others pay for what they’ve done, or else why would they have introduced her in Act 2 as a prisoner who beat up another ‘‘without cause’’? It’s the same with Sevika, only that prolongued because she hurt her and her family more, and it repeats over and over throughout the story. With any human she fights (and yes I’m excluding the shimmer mutants because neither are they humans nor do I think Vi is dumb enough to let something that CANNOT back down live) her goal is to make them hurt, to make them pay for something, whether for her family’s death OR the pain they caused The Lanes, Vi goes from employing violence to protect, to using it to fix her problems, her issues, resolve her vendettas and frankly, she’s not wrong to, under her circumstances, she has no other choice, as with the first method, every single time she’s used it, nonetheless, someone gets hurt, or taken away, or it all fails.
(And before anyone tries to bring it up and be a smartass, yes, she does want to protect Caitlyn, which is clear by the rain scene that, partially because she wants to protect her and partially because she doesn’t believe their relationship could actually work in the world they’re in, she shuns her away, but that is much later in the series AND worth mentioning that at no point does Vi ever fight to PROTECT Caitlyn. She’ll try to finish a fight, run to her, shield her, but she’s never actually fought FOR her, not yet at least).

Daario also called Daenerys beautiful:

As you can see from the last quote, in addition to those already mentioned, there are other characters around Daenerys that constantly praise her beauty. And I'm sure I failed to quote others characters talking about Daenerys's beauty as well.
There is also the fact that Daenerys's eyes are compared to Ashara Dayne, a known beauty:
And they told how afterward Ned had carried Ser Arthur's sword back to the beautiful young sister who awaited him in a castle called Starfall on the shores of the Summer Sea. The Lady Ashara Dayne, tall and fair, with haunting violet eyes.

As you can see, the praise to her beauty comes from mostly dubious people, more interested in her dragons than in herself, people that wanted to use her for their own agenda than truly and unconditionally help her.
I personally think that the Targs are exactly in the line/border of beauty and ugliness. But also take note that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For Westeros, Targaryen/Valyrian look is exotic, the gold-silver hair (that can look almost white/grey) and the purple/lilac/indigo eyes. And exotic can be attractive for some people. But most than exotic, when Targaryen conquered Westeros, they established the superiority of their blood, so of course their look, incest tradition and dragon riding was stated as superior and exceptional, they even wrote a doctrine about that and called it "exceptionalism." And it's too easy to associated superiority with beauty......
Anyway, about the Targaryen look, I think we must trust in Princess Arianne Martell:
Young John Mudd has been sending out birds as well, it seemed. Near dusk on the fourth day, not long after Chain and his wagons had taken their leave of them, Arianne’s company was met by a column of sellswords down from Griffin’s Roost, led by the most exotic creature that the princess had ever laid her eyes on, with painted fingernails and gemstones sparkling in his ears.

“ …like a Targaryen,” Arianne insisted. His eyes were a pale lilac, his hair a waterfall of white and gold. All the same, something about him made her skin crawl. Was this what Viserys looked like? she found herself wondering. If so perhaps it is a good thing he is dead.
“I am flattered. The women of House Targaryen are said to be without peer in all the world.”
“And the men of House Targaryen?”
“Oh, even prettier. Though if truth be told, I have only seen the one.” Maar took her hand in his own, and kissed her lightly on the wrist. “Mistwood sent word of your coming, sweet princess. We will be honored to escort you to the Roost, but I fear you have missed Lord Connington and our young prince.”
