He has been with other girls. He'd even said he has been with a lot of other girls.
There were a couple of girls he dated for a while. There were those he just fucked with. A quickie after a Quidditch match won't hurt anyone. It doesn't matter whether he won this match or not. He's well aware of the fact, that girls like him. But none of these so-called relationships were serious. Perhaps this was because he didn't consider any of them as something serious.
He tried this relationship thing because he was curious, what it's like to date a girl. But during his dates, bringing a cup, all painted with tiny violets, to his lips and listening to the chatter of his now ex-girlfriend, he thought that she'd never say such a thing and she'd never order such a lusciously sweet cupcake. And she wouldn't have dragged him to Madam Puddifoot's in the first place.
After smashing Hufflepuff to smithereens on the Quidditch field, he pressed some Ravenclaw's back to one of the walls in the locker room, pounding deep into her, hearing this girl's moans become louder with each thrust. He caught himself thinking about what her moans would sound like. Would she be filthy and loud underneath him or her moans would be more shaky and soft?
He wouldn't say any of these girls were bad, unattractive, or something like that. Just the opposite, all of them were great. But they simply weren't…her. She got deep under his skin, intertwined with his veins, and blossomed in his lungs. She was his Flower. That's how he called her.
George remembers clearly well how it started. No, not his feelings, they started so naturally, that he didn't even notice how he fell for her. George remembers clearly well how he started calling her flower. This happened back in the second year, during History of Magic. He was getting more and more bored by the second in that stuffy classroom. And there was nothing unusual about it. He got bored very easily. So he quietly began scribbling in the corner of her parchment. He remembers the angry look little Y/N gave him as she carefully pushed her piece of paper away from the redhead. She was also bored but did her best to focus on Professor Binns' words. But George continued, all smiling and trying to stifle his giggles caused by her irritation. At some point, his incomprehensible doodles began to look like something that resembled Professor Binns, but his glasses and mustache were abnormally large compared to everything else. She smiled, took George's hand, and carefully drew a tiny flower on his wrist, before returning her attention to Professor. It took him a while to find out what exactly she drew with so neat lines. It looked like an iris or daffodil, he couldn't tell exactly and she didn't know either. But after that she became flower. His flower.
And now George is sitting in the library. He came here to at least start an essay on Potions. Snape become ruthless lately, so it was easier to work in a group on this 5-page assignment about Golpalott's Third Law. That's how he, Y/N, Fred, and Lee ended up in the library. George knew that this was one of her favorite places at Hogwarts. Two and a half hours earlier, when they had passed Madam Pince's stern gaze, he almost unconsciously walked to her favorite table, between the Poetry and Reference sections.
George's re-reading the same sentence in the book for the seventh time. There's something about the idea that a whole product is greater than the sum of its parts, but he can't really understand its meaning because he's thinking about her. It would be more accurate to say that he's thinking about what Lee and Fred had said about her. The evening before, his twin, the only person in this world who was closer to George than Y/N, again claimed that his love was mutual. Fred constantly tried to push him to confess his feelings. His argumentation was always the same. Fred said that he’s older, which means wiser, and he sees everything, how she steals glances at his little shy brother in classes and how she blushes just as much when George is near. But that evening, Lee has added some new information, which George still tries to process and connects with everything else these two have been telling him through the years.
George returns to yesterday in his thoughts. He was lying on his bed again, hopelessly pressing his face into the soft fabric of the pillow, while these two opened the Pandora's box again. Sometimes it seemed to George that they were enjoying this ranting about his 'unrequited' love situation over and over again.
"Ok, look, if she felt nothing but platonic stuff, she'd not be this frustrated when she found out about you and Jane" Lee spoke in a devious voice, getting more comfortable on his bed.
"Wasn't it Jade?" Fred's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Doesn't matter, I mean this Hufflepuff blondie with the ribbon"
"She's Janis" George sighed. He remembered this relationship, which lasted just over a month or so. Janis was nice, but she talked a bit too much. And this black ribbon, which she constantly wore as a headband, pissed him off. He admitted that the ribbon matched well with her uniform and emphasized the brightness of her hair. But something was wrong with it.
"I thought she was Jade"
"Anyway, why are you telling me about this now?" curiosity and a slight note of annoyance were noticeable in George's voice "It was quite a long ago."
"Look, mate. I'm your friend, right?" Lee sat down, crossed his legs, and the blanket crumpled under his weight. One more movement and the red piece of cloth would end up on the floor. "But I'm her friend as well. She knows that I know. And knows that I overheard that conversation of hers. And I promised, I won't blab it to you…But as it turns out, I'm not the best secret keeper and I'm more of a friend to you than to Y/N"
To tell the truth, Lee was a great secret keeper. Just like he was a great friend. This made George seriously wonder why Lee broke the promise. And so unceremoniously 'blabbed' everything to him. What if he's really as blind as he was told and doesn't see obvious things. He doesn't deny the possibility that she liked him too. More precisely, he doesn't want to deny it. He hopes that Y/N also feels something that crosses the boundaries of friendship. Even if her feelings aren't as strong and all-consuming as his. As if time collapses into one tiny speck and explodes at light speed every time George sees her. He hopes for at least something, for at least a tiny feeling, a tiny sparkle in her heart that flares up at the sight of the tall redhead.
Many times he imagined and replayed in his head the moment he would confess his feelings. Tell her how all the sounds around become quiet when he hears her laugh, how each and every touch imprints and burns on his skin. He dreamed, how he would tell how much he loved her, that he could finally be honest and reveal everything that was in his head and heart.
But the younger twin thinks the stakes are too high. And maybe he's right because she thinks the same thing to herself. Even though George wants more, he doesn't want to risk everything he has right now. His eyes begin to water and a lump rises in his throat every time he assumes he could lose Y/N. His flower. He knows her too well to predict what would happen next if his feelings weren't mutual. Their communication will become awkward, they both will be cautious and afraid of saying or doing something wrong. And then, after some time of this weird communication, their connection will fade away. And even if his love is mutual, what if he and Y/N don’t work out as a couple? What then?
He can't let their previous and future years of friendship go down the drain. Y/N was the first person he and Fred met on the Hogwarts Express. And from the very first year and the very first greeting, the three of them became inseparable. Always together.
She wanted to be a prefect, so she avoided detentions and tried not to get involved in their pranks directly. But Y/N was always there, helped to plan each of their mischiefs, assisted with new inventions, and saved him and his brother from professors. George can't remember how many times she rescued them from Filch while she was patrolling the corridors. He was so proud of her last year when she finally received this little silver pin that gave her extra authority and responsibilities.
George can't imagine Christmas without Y/N now. She visits the Burrow every year and his mom adores her. Perhaps because Y/N helps with cooking more than anyone else in this house. But George can imagine in detail how hard his mother would scold him if he suddenly announce that Y/N won't come for winter break this year because he's an idiot and they stopped talking to each other.
It's not Christmas without having a snowball fight with her and Fred in the backyard. At some point, she always tries to throw Fred into the snow. But due to the obvious height difference and Fred's strength privilege, she never succeeds in this. So she's becoming the one who's giggling on the ground, covered with snow. George always laughs at this little performance while his very kind twin scatters her down with even more snow.
George's envious of his brother in some way. Fred has never seen Y/N as more than a friend or a second sister. He's envious that his twin's heart doesn't ache as much as his does. And his older brother doesn't have to make such a difficult decision. No, George doesn't wish his brother pain. No way. He just doesn't want to suffer himself. George understands, that he's not just at risk of losing her, but also at risk of depriving Fred of his best friend too. If he and Y/N don't work out, what will happen to her friendship with Fred? Yes, perhaps they will be able to maintain some thread of communication. But they certainly won’t be best friends like they are now. George wouldn't handle it. He believes that it's better to be content with the small moments he has than to lose everything.
"Where are you going?" Fred's question snaps the younger twin out of his thoughts. He's still in the library and didn’t even notice how the chair next to him became empty, as Y/N headed towards one of the sections.
“I need this book, about…” her words meet Fred's raised eyebrows "I just need another book"
A quiet “uh-huh,” sounds either from Fred or Lee as her back is already hidden between the shelves full of colorful covers.
George looks for a while longer after Y/N. If someone raised their head from studies or books and glanced at the redhead, they would see the gears turning in his head.
“I…” George moves away from the table. Legs of the chair slide across the floor with a quiet rustle. He tries to come up with some kind of a reason, but Lee is faster.
“We got it, loverboy in shining armor, go already and help your princess” In response George groanes, and a quiet "fuck off" slips from his lips as he heads after his 'princess'. He doesn't know why he decided to follow Y/N. He just wants to. Perhaps he simply feels calmer when she's around, she gives him a feeling of warmth and home just by being near.
And there she is, just three bookshelves away. George can understand why she likes spending time in the library, although he doesn't share this sympathy. It's quiet and peaceful here. High ceilings, impressive columns, and alive stained glass windows are throughout Hogwarts, but they look especially charming in this place. Perhaps it's the specific lighting or the huge number of cabinets filled with old parchment and colored bindings. And, to be honest, he likes the smell of books. There is something about that scent that the redhead can't explain.
Y/N walks along the shelf at the end of the bookrack. Her gaze runs along the top row of colored spines, searching for what she needs. Her hair is up in a messy, almost domestic, bun and secured with a wand. But some strands fell down, framing her face and descending down her neck. The tie hangs loosely around her neck. She undid it after half an hour in the library.
George just stands there and admires her for a while, unable to tear his gaze away. It seems to him as if a soft golden glow surrounds each curve of her glorious body. And this light calls him to come closer. None of the other girls looked like her in his eyes. He swallows, breaks out of this perfect trance, and quietly heads to her.
The girl stands on the very tips of her black shiny shoes. Her fingers almost touch that very book on the top shelf. "Why the hell do they always shove the most useful stuff so far away?" Y/N thinks to herself before long fingers touch the cover of the "Ingredient Encyclopedia". She sees as right above her head a familiar freckled hand takes the faded green binding from its place.
"You're welcome, flower" Y/N turns around at the sound of the voice and finds herself trapped between the worn books and George.
The corners of his lips lift slightly and the younger twin can feel the warmth approaching his cheeks. He can't control it and, to be honest, he doesn't care when she's only millimeters away.
Her "Thank you" is so quiet that George isn't sure she actually said it. Their eyes meet, and it seems to redhead that everything that happened next was in slow motion.
She just wanted to take the book. Such an innocent action. She inhales sharply as her fingertips accidentally brush his hand. He feels high-voltage sparks come from this touch and spread further throughout his whole body and explode where his heart is.
They both froze, not breathing and not breaking an eye contact. George could swear he was ready to give everything he had to live in this moment forever. Just standing next to her in an empty section of the Hogwarts library. Looking into her eyes, losing himself in their depths. And feel the warmth radiating from her hand on his.
Earlier, he thought he'd be nervous at a moment like this but he isn't. He just stares at her eyes, then at her parted lips. "George, don’t do it" he repeats to himself. His fingers shudder imperceptibly with the thought of taking her wand from messy hair, so her locks would fall freely on her fragile shoulders. "Control yourself". He's trying, so damn hard trying not to bury his hands into these shiny strands and pull her into a kiss. It takes all his strength not to. And George doesn't know what happened. Was it Y/N's rosy blush and his brother's words about mutuality flashing through his head. Was it her, standing so close that he could smell his amortentia coming from the girl.
But he gives up. George bends down, without even thinking about it, and presses his lips to hers
George pulls away even faster than he has leaned toward her. There is exposed fear in his widely opened eyes. Eyebrows are raised as the realization crushes his thoughts. His mouth opens and closes without making any sound. It seems that he's more shocked by his own action than Y/N herself.
He fucked up. He knows it.
Y\N stands there still. And this is the first time in the redhead's life that he can't read the emotions of his best friend. "Ingredient Encyclopedia" is still in her palm, but George abruptly pulls his hand away, losing all the warmth she provided to him.
"I'm…I'm sorry" is the only thing he mumbles before storming away from the book section, from the library, from her.
George almost knocks down a first-year with a blue tie when he rushes out around the corner. He fucked up. Y/N didn’t respond to his kiss, she didn’t react at all. She just froze in place. George doesn't understand how he could let himself do this. He shouldn't have. He heads towards the huge wooden door with such speed that some students' parchments fly off their desks. He doesn't notice this, nor the questions from Fred and Lee, that meet his broad back, nor the comments of the furious Madam Pince.
She appears around the corner shortly after George, calling his name. She throws the book on the table and quickly walks past her friends. The faded green binding slides across the wooden surface and lands near Lee's inkpot. Another millimeter and the small glass jar would have been knocked down and poured a black liquid onto the pieces of parchment, only half written with essay.
"For Merlin's sake, what is going on?"
“I'll bet you a galleon that George confessed to her and ran away” Fred speaks with a sly grin, shifting his gaze from the hurrying Y/N to his dormmate.
"Too much drama for these two, don't you think?"
"So…?"
"You're on" Lee agrees, moving the book away from his writings. He only managed to write the introduction and the beginning of the first few theses. It was far from 5 pages but it was at least something and definitely more than George wrote.
George walks through the library entrance. He feels like everything is crumbling inside him as he walks. The sound of his heart pounding in the ears muffles the voice calling his name somewhere behind the back.
"George!…"
He is supposed to be happy. He finally did what he had dreamed of for many years. He finally kissed the girl he was so hopelessly in love with. But instead, he feels as if a dozen Dementors attacked him. All of the hope and happiness have been sucked out of the world.
"George!…"
He'd better get away from here as fast as possible. He'd explain himself later. He'd better get to his safe space. But where should he go if he felt safe only next to her?
"George!….for Merlin's sake!….. I can't keep up with you!"
He recalls everything in his head, from what happened a minute ago to the first time he saw Y\N. He understands that all those happy moments, the tenderness, the memories they both made and the plans for the future, are all gone. He's so disappointed and so angry with himself.
"George!…"
"What?!" He stops and turns around, seeing the girl almost running along the empty corridor of Hogwarts, approaching him.
George heard her calling him. But he's not ready to face the consequences. Not now. He needs time to pull himself back together and come up with something. But he gives up. Again.
"What do you wanna hear, Y|N?!" His hands shoot up in a questioning gesture. "That I'm head over heels in love with you? With your damn perfect hair and damn marvelous eyes! With your damn angelic laughter, which drowns out all other sounds for me! And I even with the way your brows frown when you're concentrated!"
"Georgie…" He doesn't seem to notice her soft voice but continues. She wants to say something, but his confession is unstoppable. And she understands this, so she decides to just let him rant.
"Or do you wanna hear that you became a fixed point in my mind where my thoughts always come back to? That I randomly grin to myself like an idiot when I think about anything related to you. I don't know when exactly I fell for you. But it feels like I've always loved you. You're doing something to me, no one else ever could. You make me feel special and not just another poor Weasley or the second clown of Hogwarts. Every damn time you make me feel important because of who I am and not because I'm the beater or I'm the easiest way to get to Fred." His voice became calmer with each sentence. The irritated raised tone turns into his normal deep timbre, and then it will turn into a soft mumbling. " And you make all of my anxiety and worries turn off just by your presence. I was so fucking angry with myself and you did something I dunno how to explain. So now I can't be this angry. And you are…you are just….you"
She stands next to him. Almost as close as it was back then in the library. Perhaps if George wasn't so nervous, he'd realize that he liked the scent of books because it was her scent. Every time she left the library after spending several hours there, she had this slightest scent on her. It mixed with her perfume and shampoo, so it was impossible to separate and difficult to notice it.
"Are you done?" George doesn't know what to do and just nods his ginger head. Then she rises on her tiptoes and neat fingers finds the collar of his white shirt and pulls it towards her, forcing George to lean forward. Her lips touch his. Again. Only for a few seconds but this makes him blush even more, if it's possible. His freckles aren't this noticeable anymore.
The girl pulls away, the heels of her shoes meet the cold floor and her hands slide onto George's chest. But he continues to stand slightly bent forward, batting his eyelashes. She still has to lift her head slightly to look him in the eyes. In the future, this height difference will piss her off sometimes, but he'll enjoy it endlessly, liking this even more every time.
George stares deeply into her eyes, trying to understand what just happened. But he feels that he can breathe again. And somewhere inside, where his soul is, irises and daffodils and all the other flowers start to blossom slowly. Did she really kiss him? But earlier…
"But you've…." His eyebrows furrow as the puzzles are slowly coming together in his head.
"I was taken by surprise" She explains as she watches his face soften, lips rise into a wide grin that he can't stop. And why the hell should he stop it. "And you didn't give me time to understand what's going on"
George covers her hand with his own. That hand that's laying so peacefully on his rapidly beating heart.
“Sorry,” he chuckles, millimeters from her face. She can feel his breath on her lips, like a ghost kiss, dragging the moment before he crushes his lips down on hers into another real one.
Her lips are soft, almost silken, and pillowy against his own. This kiss is not just a peck, like the previous ones. This time George can understand that her lips are not exactly what he thought. Her lips feel thousands of times better than he could ever imagine. He finally feels relieve and all the world's happiness. All the happiness he supposed to feel. Happiness, that had been accumulating for a long time and didn't leave the palace of his dreams, Finally to escape to freedom. His palms find their place around her waist as he pulls her closer, forcing their bodies to collapse into each other, holding each other as tightly as humanly possible. Her hands shoot up to his hair, slowly letting her fingers slip into ginger strands. He kisses Y/N like he has never kissed anyone else before. With all the tenderness and love he has kept locked in his heart till this moment. George doesn’t see this, but he feels how the gray world around him is filled with colors again. The warmth spreads all over his body and his brain stops working properly.
This girl, this bright and breathtaking girl, is his. Their lips moved softly, delicately, and almost innocently before. But Y/N is driving him insane and intoxicate him with the sweet smell of her body. He can feel her hand slide to his nape and she lightly runs fingers up along his neck. Tiny soft moans escape his lips in the surprise of the goosebumps this action sent down his body. As a response, George brings up his freckled hands to cup her face. His calloused fingers caress her flushed cheeks as he nibbles her lower lip, not so hard to hurt, but enough for Y/N to feel it. Now it's her turn to let out a small, barely audible moan, which makes him break out into a shit-eating grin.
The girl gently pulls away, while George still holds her face in his warm hands.
"I love you too, Georgie. And your damn perfect hair and damn marvelous eyes"
Bonus:
He lets out a giggle caused by quoting. He's unable to open his eyes for a few moments after this kiss, a huge smile on his face
"But…"
"But…?" The question sounds teasing even though his voice is hoarse.
"We have an essay to finish. It's due tomorrow, and you haven't even written a sentence yet." she wrinkles her nose in a taunting way.
"Nooooo" Redhead lets out a groan, throwing his head back. "Don't make me do this, Flower"
"I won't write it for you" She kisses his pouty lips as a response to the puppy gaze he gave her. Y/N frees herself from his cozy grip and heads towards the library. "You'd better write at least something unless you prefer scrubbing cauldron instead of…let's say…sneaking into Hogsmeade."
George catches up with her a couple of seconds later. He slightly leans down just for a moment to catch her hand in his and intertwine their fingers.
"Y/N…." he tries this 'puppy gaze trick' again.
"Fine." She sighs in defeat "I will help you with a plan and theses, but you will write it yourself."
George breaks into a smile once again and brings her hand to his lips, leaving kisses on her knuckles. Well, the thesis for Someone's Third Law is at least something. Plus, he’s sure that he’s sure Y/N will write his essay as soon as she finishes hers. And, to be honest, Fred's too.
After some time, when they are a meter from the huge wooden door, George suddenly wonders.
"Galleons or Sickles?"
"What?"
"Galleons or Sickles?" He repeats, opening the door in front of Y/N
"Wait, you're wondering how much they bet on us, aren't you?"
George overtakes the girl, ending up in front of her, and leans down so that their eyes are at the same level. He shoves his hands into pockets and wrinkles his nose therefore mocking Y/N's previous actions.
"I'll bet a Galleon that Lee owes Fred a Galleon"

・You’re light in not only Stiles’ life, but the whole group.
・They come to you when life feels too much.
・You’re there with the kettle on, ready to hear their problems and read their tea leaves
・There’s always an animal worming their way around your legs, either a cat or one of your dogs
・You adopt as many animals as you can, usually from Alan Deaton, the vet.
・Scott likes you because you bring a sense of calm to Stiles’ chaos
・And Stiles didn’t realise he had a crush on you until Scott pointed it out.
・You constantly have to bring Stiles back down to earth. His mind is constantly racing and thinking about the next problem
・Stiles couldn’t help but fall in love with you. You were always so kind to him. When everyone else thought he was ‘too much’, you couldn’t get enough
・ It was your smile that did it for Stiles. That sweet, sometimes mischievous smile.
・You originally thought Stiles was one of those sceptics that brushed the existence of magic as mere fiction
・But Stiles was the first one to believe in your witchcraft:
“We have werewolves, Banshees and god knows what else. A witch seems the most realistic.”
・When the group doesn’t have any leads, they come to you for help. It’s not easy being a witch. It uses a lot of energy. You can do locating spells, but it drains you a lot
・Stiles hates coming to you for help because he knows how much it physically costs you
・Some teenagers like to graffiti your home - but they can only do it once. You’ve cast a spell so whoever tries to do it again loses their ability to talk normally
・It also means you know who’s been doing it
・Because parents panic and news always travels around town, the graffiti is next to non-existent now (also because Stiles makes sure to clean it off before you notice)
・He can be very, very stubborn. And often thinks he knows what is best.
・But he’s also ... very honest. So you know when he’s lying (he’s so bad at it):
     “Stiles...tell me the truth.”
“The truth is ... that ... I ... am...- okay god stop looking at me like that.”
・Likes cuddling A LOT. But is fussy, and if he can’t get perfectly comfortable, then he wants to be the little spoon.
・Is a really heavy sleeper, and whenever he stays over at your place he’s the last to wake up
・LOVES when you make his favourite food. Literally falls in love, not even being dramatic. His mind is like ‘this is the one. I’m keeping them.’
・Loyal to. a. fault. Will die for you, will do everything in his power to keep you safe and out of danger. That’s another reason why he doesn’t like getting you involved in the supernatural stuff.
・You know exactly what he’s thinking, because you can see it clearly on his face.
・ “Stiles, do you tell my secrets to Scott?”
“Ugh, not the really secretive ones?”
・Sheriff Stilinksi loves you, he thinks you’re great for Stiles. You make his chaos less ... chaotic. He was a bit apprehensive about your witchcraft at first, but then he had the same outlook as Stiles. “At least you’re not a ...hellhound or something.”
・Stiles NEVER fails to make you laugh
・You find the most random things in his car. Ducktape, a metal baseball bat, keys to many, many buildings, rope. You asked him if he had a first aid kit, since he had everything else, and his eyes glazed over.
“I KNEW I was forgetting something. God!”
・You make protection amulets for him, and give him crystals. He doesn’t understand but takes them wholeheartedly anyway
・His favourite crystals are labradorite (”because I like when it shines, duh”), malachite and blue tiger’s eye
・Vending machines are his mortal enemy and if he sees one he forbids you from using it (you use it anyway)
・Having weekly meals at his father’s place
・You were really really good friends with Allison, and her death was heavy for you.
・Adores going to metaphysical stores with you. He picked out a deck of tarot cards (wants to pay but you never let him. So he tries to gift you as many things as you’ll need, so he can buy them)

𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒈𝒆: Physical Touch and Words of Affirmation. He’s always on the go and can feel like you aren’t a part of his world. But you always make sure to leave little trinkets in his pockets or in his car.

Okay, so mixing ideas together; what if Harry’s Muggle!Aunt!Reader was the Obscurus that Albus brings to Hogwarts but it’s back in the Marauders era?
Like, there’s no way that Lily doesn’t pick up on something being off with her beloved sister. She sees the way her sister has pulled away from others even if it’s a little but Lily notices it, she’s always been very keen when it comes to the Reader and spends every moment during her breaks being close to her. Maybe she even witnessed a burst of magic from her sister or something of the sort. Either way, things aren’t adding up and Lily makes it her mission to figure out what’s up. It’s all she’ll focus on when she gets back to Hogwarts.
When she does find out what it is or has a pretty good idea of what it might be, Lily immediately goes to Dumbledore to ask for advice or full on help and that’s when he gets involved. He’ll go meet with the Reader and talk to them, try to get them to tell him what’s going on. Lily would be adamant about wanting to be there when he does but he thinks it’ll be better if she isn’t in case the Reader may feel ashamed of opening up about it in front of her.
After that, Albus goes to the Ministry and tells them of his plans to bring the Reader to Hogwarts as student even without their letter. He would bring up the fact though that there was a letter sent but never received by the Reader. He probably already has a clue as to how it didn’t get to the Reader in the first place *cough* Petunia *cough*. They are of course apprehensive to allow this but Albus vows to take full and complete responsibility for them no matter what. And after assessing the Reader themselves and seeing that as of right now she’s of no threat to anyone but herself at this point, they allow it but they do intent to keep a close eye on the Reader from then on.
Lily inadvertently gets what she’s always dreamed of and her beloved sister gets to attend Hogwarts with her and she couldn’t be more overjoyed. But Lily will become much more extreme in her overprotectiveness than she already had been. Her sister is an Obscurus after all and a majority of people aren’t going to be very accepting of that, but fortunately Lily knows just the people who will help protect and care for the Reader and accept them wholeheartedly.
Lily, James, Sirius, Remus and whoever else they can get will be the Reader’s own personal protection squad. Like, they would literally walk around the school as bodyguards, surrounding and escorting the Reader from class to class and what not if it wouldn’t draw so much attention. But Lily’s whole thing is that she wants this to be as completely under wraps as possible. She doesn’t want anyone to know about her sister being an Obscurus. Lily wants her beloved sister to have as normal of an experience as she can at Hogwarts and she won’t let anyone mess that up for her or her sister.
The biggest thing though is going to be which house the Reader is sorted into. If Gryffindor, than fantastic! That’s just what Lily had hoped for and it would be so much easier to be there for her sister. If Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw then it wouldn’t be too hard to insert herself or the others into being with the Reader and making sure she’s okay throughout the day, as well as making connections among the respective housemates and getting them to keep an eye on her sister for her. If Slytherin, then oh shit! She could always work with Severus to watch her sister, even if she has to force his hand to do so (not that she’d really have to but she would if need be). But trying to integrate among the Slytherins to keep an eye on and be around her sister is going to be hell. Not to mention her and her sister’s muggle status already puts an automatic target on her sister’s back for the snakes to go after. Particularly, the more dangerous and unpredictable snakes; ie. Bellatrix, Lucius, Rodolphus, Rabastan, Evan Risier, etc.
In the case that Muggle!Aunt!Reader does end up in Slytherin, Sirius would also get Regulus to keep an eye on the Reader for him, Lily and the others. It’s good to say that this would be a good way for Lucius and Narcissa to begin their obsession with the Reader, having no clue that all this time their darling was an Obscurus. Also, gives Bellatrix a good excuse of being involved with the Reader too.
Not to mention, (going off an ask I haven’t answered quite yet) if Bellatrix were to pick up on the dark magic that was flowing within the Reader due to the Obscurial, she would be all over her. Not physically, but she’s always right there near where the Reader is and that has pretty much everyone who’s looking out for the Reader on edge.
This overall scenario of Obscurus!Muggle!Aunt!Reader also allows the Reader to become a teacher at Hogwarts later on and be there with Harry during his school years. This scenario is pretty much a win-win for all the obsessive parties involved. Excluding Petunia.
Also, I totally stand by the idea of Teacher!Obscurus!Muggle!Aunt!Reader helping prove Sirius’ innocence in Harry’s third year, that is if he still ends up going after Pettigrew after James and Lily’s deaths. Like, the Reader would obviously end up in the shrieking shack when shit goes down and before Pettigrew can do anything she hits him with a freezing charm so they’re all able to bring him to the castle, alive and very much in person for all the authoritative parties to see. Not to mention, she’d also remind Remus to take his potion preventing him from wolfing out in that moment.

There are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
—> what houses I think Lottie, Daniel and Ivy would be in, canonically.
⤻ they join the houses the mc joins, but what if you weren't meddling? Spoilers up to the third year.
🦋 ⤻ archives.
Tumblr media
Daniel Page — "I don't care if I'm good or bad. I want to be strong, powerful… I want to win, whatever it takes."
Honestly, Daniel gives very slytherin vibes.
Ambitious: This really shines through in Daniel's Third Year, where he befriends Elliot Evers and becomes more eager to learn spells to defend his friends. Not to mention the quote I mentioned above, it's clear that Daniel is now a bit power-hungry/always had been.
Determination: Daniel is clearly loyal to those he loves like Esme, the MC and Ivy and he's shown to be rather determined to protect his sister from harm.
Cunning: That scene with the key really gave me slytherin vibes. Daniel is clearly smart, resourceful, and cunning. He knows how to make the game work for him.
Ivy Warrington — "That's not true, Winnie. I care about you. I want us to be together."
Very Hufflepuff.
Strong moral compass: In year 3, Ivy was always seen fighting with Elliot Evers about morality and the whole "life is a game, some people chat" thing. This shows that she had an extremely strong sense of justice.
Patience: No matter how much I love Daniel, I have to admit that Daniel was a bit annoying the entire year, LOL. The amount of patience this girly has for Daniel (including the MC) is amazingly astonishing.
All-rounding: The Hufflepuff House is mainly where all the all-rounders are. Ivy is smart like a ravenclaw — given her magical abilities — brave like a gryffindor — seen by how she's always there for her friends — and clever like a slytherin — once again, her spells and ability to read people.
Lottie Turner — "You ignore all the other hues, I feel pity for you."
Despite not being stereotypically smart, I think she is a perfect Ravenclaw. She honestly reminds me of Luna.
Creativity — based on just her painting skills and her ability to view life, she is extremely creative and knows how to look past the surface at things.
Wit — Lottie has a lot of creative ideas and she knows how to piece them together, as seen by year 2 and how she knew how to piece together the puzzles and understand her Father.
Intuitive — I feel like Lottie can read people rather well. Lottie was one of the only few that defended Ivy when everyone was doubting her. Just from her quote, it's clear she can see "other hues" and I interpreted this as her being able to see other people and see things that aren't necessarily there.
✧ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ✧
Overall,
Daniel would be in Slytherin.
Ivy would be in Hufflepuff.
Lottie would be in Ravenclaw.

Horcruxes as Seven Deadly Sins
This has been jabbing at my brain for a while, I need to get it out. Idk if someone has already done this.
This will only mention Christian, because I don't think I have enough knowledge about Greek, Roman or any other interpretation of the seven deadly sins.
So, Tom Riddle created seven horcruxes. (actually eight)
It is no secret that Tom Riddle was obsessed with power, because he never had anything of value and thought power was the remedy for his misfortune and a very depressing life. Splitting one's soul is already a sin itself because it's done by murdering someone. Tom Riddle Jr. (I think it's hilarious to call him that so what) created seven of them during various stages of his life. Without further ado, let's review his misdeeds chronologically.
The Diary
The first horcrux he created was by murdering Myrtle, an innocent Muggleborn Ravenclaw student. The basilisk did Tom's bidding. The diary becoming a horcrux is very interesing considering the timeline. He was in fifth or sixth year. By that time he figured out he was the descendant of Salazar Slytherin, but he did not yet know of the tragedy that brought him to life. He thought he was doing noble work by getting rid of the muggleborns and finishing what Salazar intended from the start. Years later, diary Tom talks to Harry about abandoning his filthy muggle father's name, but had Tom already visited his uncle by that time and found out about his parents? Or did Tom murder Myrtle earlier and then was told about his heritage as a diary by the actual corporal Tom? Because when he visited his uncle and found out his father was a muggle, he knocked his uncle out, went to the Riddle manor and killed his father and his grandparents. And stole the Gaunt family ring, which would also become a horcrux. Officially, the diary is considered the first horcrux, so we'll follow that. I will assign the diary the sin of wrath. Tom was angry at his muggle father, weak mother, deranged relatives who destroyed an ancient house and his childhood. However, he still holds his heritage in somewhat of a high regard because, frankly, what else he has left. He took out his wrath on regular bystanders who had no effect on his life. Teenage boy bottles his anger in his diary and holds petty grudges.
Marvolo Gaunt's Ring
Created after Tom spoke to Slughorn about splitting a soul in more than two pieces. A gaudy ring, not even a famous artifact, the last family heirloom of Gaunts. Even though his mother's side of the family was no less pathetic than his father's, Tom did not forsake it completely. He still hid his connection to them, but at least they provided him with the gift of parseltongue and magical talent. I think he was silently...grateful, for the lack of a better term. He felt no sympathy towards his mother even before he found out who she was, but he was grateful for her the way you can be grateful for someone who brought you to this world and gave you gift of magic and did nothing else for you. The ring represents the sin of pride because Tom was not honoring his family, he clung to his terrible ancestry. The word pride is not used as a bad thing in the modern context as much. You can be proud of something. That's not a bad thing, right? Well, in this case, it is. Tom was not ashamed of the things Gaunts did, he was ashamed how they ended up. If he was met with Gaunts who looked and lived like Malfoys but where ten times worse, he wouldn't hide his connection to them and would display his pride. Why else would he keep the ring if he didn't plan to use it. Sentimental reasons.
Salazar Slytherin's Locket
Envy. Tom tracked down the current owner of the locket, killed her and stole it from her. He was envious in a way of Hepzibah Smith, who lived luxuriously, was in touch of her pureblood ancestry, a descendant of Helga Hufflepuff. Meanwhile, Tom, who, in his opinion, should've been born with the same privileges, had to scramble for scraps his whole life and smile politely at others and be of service, instead of the other way around. A prince mistaken for a beggar, forced to live his life, found the crown jewel of his. And some old lady displayed it like it was her own. Technically, it was.
Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem
Now, what business did Tommy have messing around with other founders' sacred artifacts? He had acquired "his own" ones. He could stop at three horcruxes. Surely, there were risks, consequences of such extreme magic, just take the locket and leave the cup, don't even bother with the lost diadem...Greed. He sniffed around and inquired about it while he was still in Hogwarts, charmed the Grey Lady Helena Ravenclaw to find out its whereabouts and went to bloody Albania to get it.
Why shouldn't Tom take the diadem and the cup as well? Why shouldn't he take other heirlooms and make it his? He's the greatest wizard of all time in the making. What can possibly rival his power? You get the point.
Helga Hufflepuff's Cup
Gluttony. Are we even surprised at this point? He went through all that trouble to get other items, the cup was literally lying right there next to the locket at Hepzibah Smith's house. I'm getting tired, I'm sorry.
Nagini
Sloth. The snake was already unnaturally loyal to him, he was actually acting affectionate towards it. Making a horcrux out of a living being was an unheard concept, but he'd done much weirder things already. The parselmouth and a snake, very original. His easiest and laziest horcrux, one more testament to his power and "pure" blood.
Harry Potter
Lust. Harry was a horcrux he never meant to create. On a fateful night when Voldemort nearly died of his own spell (the first time around), a small piece of his soul attached itself to the only living thing it could find, a baby. All of it, really, began with lust. An ambition gone bitter. Lust for power, immortality, desire to be remembered and stand out. Driven to insanity, orchestrated his own downfall. The lust for power, the only thing he could approximate with love.

I keep seeing people calling Callum Snake boi what does that MEAN
Little slice of fandom history and also because it's my fault (TLDR at the bottom in bold):
Years ago, a few days after S1 came out and when JK Rowling wasn't an outspoken bloody TERF there were discussions of what Harry Potter houses the characters would fit into. The general consensus for Callum seemed to be that he'd be a Ravenclaw because he's clever and artistic, but I argued for Slytherin (whose symbol is a snake) because I saw him more so as ambitious than just curious and more selectively loyal when it comes to his motivations, etc etc.
If you've been following me for any period of time you might know that I tag Very Meticulously, so as a trans person and a trans ally I was like I don't wanna use the TERF's terminology anymore, but having a tag to talk about a specific aspect of Callum's characterization (his wonderfully harsh temper, his intense selective loyalty, his obsessive ambition, etc etc) was still a useful prospect to me. Thus Snake Boi Callum as a tag was born, mostly as a joke? And so I could find metas that talked about his characterization (specifically) as I don't think I had a characterization tag almost at all for a while?
It started to pick up steam in my tags specifically when there was starting to be a little bit of - pushback isn't the right word cause everyone's entitled to their own interpretation and characterization of a character, nor does everyone have to engage with every part of a character's canon personality or actions in their fandom stuff if they don't want to.
But there'd be stuff of people forgetting that he can be pretty mean when he gets angry or not seeing him as selectively loyal to Ezran and Rayla? People would also be surprised but accepting, or resistant, to his growing and consistent parallels in characterization with Viren and Claudia (even if they are all still, ultimately, different from one another).
I saw a fair bit of sentiment during the hiatus of "oh he'd Never ever do dark magic again" (which I never believed even immediately post-s2) or in discussions of how he'd respond to Rayla after she left in Through the Moon graphic novel (set shortly after S3). Some people thought understandably that he'd care a lot about the lie (that he'd get to go with her) and the abandonment, understandably so - they're both shitty things to do, but I also sympathize/cry over why Rayla thought she had to do them, but I never thought he'd think the lie was that important, and focus more on the abandonment aspect as a source of hurt.
Snake Boi Callum as a concept also got some mileage in the development of my Cube Hostage Exchange Theory as well, an ongoing theory since November 2020-ish that Callum will help Aaravos / give him the Key of Aaravos in order to save Rayla's life if she was injured / taken hostage. I don't know if they'll do that scenario now because S5 basically delivered the exact thing, just with Finnegrin instead of Aaravos, but there was some more legitimate pushback to said theory/scenario during the hiatus because people thought Callum would never help a villain like that or take such a big risk for someone he loves. I'm not gonna say that I was wholly right (because I wasn't) and again people can interpret his actions in S5 in whatever way they want, but I will say that all of S5 was one of the most validating experiences of vindication I've ever had in my whole life, so that probably speaks for itself
But yeah, it's a term that's kinda caught on (I would say 60-80% of the fandom sees Callum as someone who would risk the world for Ezran and/or Rayla, with 20-30% - maybe less? - seeing otherwise, hence why I think it's caught on; but again, having an 'unpopular' opinion in fandom doesn't necessarily make it wrong, god knows I've had plenty) and then in the discords I'm in, a few people thought a week based around those traits would be fun and boom. Snake Boi Callum Week was born.
TLDR; Snake Boi Callum is a fanon catch-all / shorthand for the 'darker' / more emotional and torn side of Callum's personality (his ambition, his temper, particularly his fierce protectiveness and selective loyalty) that is being explored by whoever wants to in a fun fandom week. His bio in official series material does read that he values "those close to [him] more than anyone or anything" after all (which again, was very validating after years and seasons of seeing and writing him with that exact sentiment)
The tagging also means that for people who don't agree with this characterization for whatever reason, or whom dislike the emphasis on it, can blacklist it easily (as is the intended purpose with all tags on my blog)
He's a goofy nurturing guy who will Cut You and verbally eviscerate you without question if you hurt his loved ones or piss him off enough, and I love that for him. He's a little snake boi and we think he should have lots of angst (or sometimes not enough when it comes to killing/threatening people) over how far he'll go to protect the people he loves, as a Treat

Nct Hogwarts au
Gryffindor Mark Lee x Ravenclaw y/n
Side note: Ravenclaw's and Gryffindor's have some classes together
It's my first fanfic that is fully written in English (it's not my mother tongue), so please be understanding <3
And, lastly, I just wanted to say that I really love my best friend Karo. It's all thanks to her that I started writing again.
Tumblr media
You were furious. You've been sitting in the history of magic, writing a really important (for most of the class) exam for which you've studied for the past week. And clearly, the boy sitting next to you was copying your answers. You acted like you didn't notice at all, but inside you felt like you were going to explode.
Okay, that guy, Mark Lee, was cute. Really cute and handsome. Moreover, you felt a little bit of satisfaction. He must know that you are wise enough to have good answers. Or maybe, you thought, he was just desperate.
Either way, you were unsure what to do so you just read the whole thing that you wrote again, correcting some minor mistakes. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Mark struggling, trying to see your paper sheet. His black hair was falling into his eyes and he was biting his lips. You noticed a tiny little mole on his neck and immediately looked away. He looked so lost and you just couldn't help the strange feeling that was starting to burn inside your chest.
You weren't furious anymore. All that you wanted was to brush the hair out of his eyes and maybe, just maybe, hug him. He was like a lost child that needed help.
You sighed a little bit too loud, causing Mark to flinch. You smiled involuntarily.
Poor boy – you thought, as you leaned back in your chair so that he could see your answer sheet clearly.
You looked around the classroom, making sure that your teacher wasn't looking in your direction. And then you looked at Mark again, noticing the dark circles under his eyes, unstable breath and wrinkled clothes.
Sure, he somewhat made you feel some things, but in fact, he was cheating. He probably didn't study at all and was using you.
So, with your best poker face, you crossed out some names of a few less important witches, wizards and goblins and replaced them with made-up ones. You also changed a few dates, pretending that you're struggling with recalling the correct information.
Mark didn't seem to notice at all, naively changing all the answers as well.
And then, when almost everyone finished and left the classroom he handed over his exam, avoiding looking at you and left as well.
Then you changed those answers again to the correct ones.
Tumblr media
A few days have passed and you felt anxious thinking about the results of some of your exams. As a very ambitious Ravenclaw, you wanted to be at the top of your class and made your family proud. But you were doubting yourself, unsure if the effort you put into studying was enough.
You were taking a walk, trying to focus on your surroundings and escape from intrusive thoughts. You weren't sure where exactly you wanted to go, but somewhat you ended up in the courtyard near the Training Grounds Tower. You focused on the sound of your steps, your breath and the voices of the people in front of you to distract yourself. Focusing on the present was a really helpful method.
But then you passed another column and suddenly saw the boys that walked ahead of you. They were from Gryffindor (except for Renjun and Hyuck) and they were younger. But you knew them because they have always been hanging out with Mark. You had seen them many times, talking with him before his classes and almost every day in the Great Hall. One of them was one year older than you, he was a Prefect, and from what you've remembered his name was Jungwoo. The others were Jeno, Renjun and Hyuck. And, obviously, there was also Mark. At the sight of him, your heart stopped for a second.
You wanted to turn around and go somewhere else but your body was not listening to you. And then they suddenly stopped walking. Mark leaned against the wall and threw a glance at Renjun. You took a few steps towards them but then you heard him saying your name and it was like your whole world was tearing apart.
You quickly stepped back, hiding behind the corner, feeling nervous. It was so stupid, you knew you shouldn't be eavesdropping but you just couldn't help it. Why were they talking about you?
"No, I know she's really smart and stuff. But I'm telling you... I've got an Acceptable," Mark explained.
"Okay, but how is it possible for her to get an Outstanding while you have only got Acceptable? You both had the same answers, bro" this voice probably belonged to Renjun.
Someone laughed and you were sure that it was Donghyuck. His laugh sometimes got on your nerves, not because it was unpleasant to hear but because you heard it several times after the slightly annoying things that he said to you. You kinda liked Hyuck but at the same time, you thought that he was too annoying.
"She just tricked you. I mean, she has probably changed her answers afterward." He sounded somewhat amazed and you almost felt proud. Almost, because at the same time you were terrified. "I really like her."
"Or maybe you didn't copy enough or you just changed too much." This voice was quieter, and you were sure it was Jeno's.
"Or maybe it was because the professor knew that you'd never get a better grade by yourself," suggested Renjun.
There was a sound like something hit another thing and one of the boys groaned in pain.
"Anyways, next time you should just study, Mark," said Jungwoo. "You don't know if you'd be able to sit next to her again. Plus it would be fairer."
Mark sighed and you refrained from leaning out to see his face. This conversation was getting more and more interesting.
"You know that I couldn't." He sounded exhausted. "We were practicing Quidditch till the evening and then I had to study for Transfiguration. I just couldn't remember so many facts in such a short period."
You gulped, not knowing what to think anymore and clenched your hands against the cold wall. Quidditch was really important to him.
"Yeah but you had the entire month to prepare," noticed Jungwoo. "We're all very busy but it's not impossible to find some free time, bro. You have to be more responsible."
It was Jeno who answered.
"But we really were so busy. The whole team has been training genuinely hard and Mark is the team leader. It's a very responsible position."
Marked thanked him and added shyly:
"Besides, Transfiguration is hard. I've been trying to practice and follow the steps in our textbooks but I always fail. I'm hopeless and It would be a miracle for me to pass this exam," he groaned.
They fell silent and you started thinking about moving away from them. But then Donghyuck spoke again. And you just knew that he came up with some sly plan.
"Maybe you just need a tutor?"
Tumblr media
It was getting dark as you were coming back to the castle from your Care of Magical Creature classes. It was almost supper time and you and your Ravenclaw friends were starving. You were thinking about the things that Mark and his friends said, feeling that strange warm sensation in your stomach remembering that he called you smart. And the way that he said your name. His voice was just so soft. Of course, it was unfair that he was using you. But after the things that you've heard about his training sessions and his responsibility as team captain you just couldn't be mad at him.
Suddenly you heard a grunt and noticed that someone was stubbornly following your every step. You looked over your shoulder and felt like your heart was about to stop.
It was Hyuck, that brown-haired, annoying friend of Mark. He smiled at you innocently and you started to feel uneasy. He wanted something but you weren't going to give him the satisfaction and ask what it was. You just kept going, ignoring his stare. You knew that was a little bit childish but you decided to pretend that he was not there.
"Hey, y/n!" He said loudly and you closed your eyes, praying that some Hippogriff will fly over and take him far away. You just kept going, speeding up.
You'd probably try to keep ignoring him but your friend Caroline poked your shoulder.
"I think Haechanie wants something from you," she whispered. She looked like she was having too much fun. Keeping you away from your comfort zone was one of her hobbies.
"I know," you whispered back, pursuing your lips.
"Hey" Donghyuck was now right behind you, he grabbed you by your cloak.
You looked at the sky and, unfortunately, there was no Hippogriff to be found. You jerked out of his grip.
"You heard me!" he sounded like he was hurt by your behavior.
"Yes," you agreed. "I think everyone heard you. But also I decided to ignore you."
He opened his mouth and put a hand on his heart as if someone had punched him.
"Why so rude? I was trying to befriend you..."
You continued to go towards the castle, suddenly feeling a little bit shy. What was that he wanted? To make some fun out of you? Was it a prank or bet or something? Or maybe, you thought, suddenly terrified, he was going to scold you for tricking Mark.
You looked at Caroline, seeking help but she couldn't help smiling.
"What do you want, Donghyuck?" she asked straightforwardly, straightening a crease on her Slytherin robe. "Do you want to ask her out?"
You looked at him, wanting to see his reaction. You expected that he would just laugh it off or say something stupid. But no.
His face suddenly turned red and he just went speechless.
"You girls are something else," he mumbled and his voice softened. "No, I was just going to ask your friend for help."
Tumblr media
It was completely dark outside when you and Haechan arrived at the library. At first, you didn't want to listen to him at all, but he looked so hopeless that you just gave in.
Besides that, Caroline looked like she was going to kill you if you didn't go with him. After all, he was Mark's friend and she knew that you had a big, fat crush on Markie. She always gave you the best advice and you trusted her wholeheartedly. Besides, you believed that her stares could kill anyone. You listened to her but at the same time, you were regretting all of your life decisions.
"Listen," Haechan said, as you both sat at opposite sides of the table. "I don't know how to say that without betraying my best friend. But Mark is like a brother to me, so I just couldn't do anything."
You looked at him, trying to look as calm as possible. But your heart was racing and you started to have a hope that maybe, just maybe, he wanted to tell you that his friend had a crush on you. It felt surreal but Heachan seemed like the kind of person that could reveal someone's secret just for fun. At the same time, you were doubting yourself so much. Mark didn't look like a person who would be interested in someone like you. He was cute, liked Quidditch and had a lot of friends. On the other hand, you were a daydreamer and a hopeless nerd. You studied a lot to prove to everyone that you were worth putting in your House. Everything that Mark did... He did it naturally. He was talented and seemed so laid back while you were struggling with believing in yourself and were scared of others.
"Yes," Hechan looked at his hands, suddenly somewhat shy. "He's a captain of a Quidditch team, as you may or may not know. And I'm just really worried about him... I mean, he doesn't have much sleep nowadays and he's failing in some of his classes. So, uhm," he looked at you with his big, suddenly innocent eyes. "I thought that maybe you could help him?"
You opened your mouth, feeling like a fish pulled out of the water. You were daydreaming again and suddenly you felt so stupid for thinking that Mark could like you. Obviously.
"Of course, I'll make it up to you," he said hurriedly, his eyes getting even bigger as if he was scared that you'd decline. "In fact, I don't have much money." He scrubbed the back of his head. "But I'll figure something out, I promise. Just help us."
His confession surprised you. You were completely wrong. Haechan was a caring and loyal friend. It was really sweet, but why on Earth did he come to you? Why does it always have to be you? Fate liked to torture you and you felt like crying.
Of course, it was so painful to hear about the lack of sleep that Mark had. You wanted to help him, to just end all of his worries. You wanted Mark to be happy. But you knew that giving him some private lessons may ruin you. Just being around him was painful and made you think about lots of things that you normally won't think of. You wanted to be around him all the time and at the same time, you didn't.
"You don't have to pay me," you said, looking at a particularly old book that lay next to you. "I'll help him for free."
He leaned forward, really surprised. And he didn't seem like a person that could be easily surprised.
"W–what?"
You stood up, taking a book in your hands, deciding that you'll look over it later.
"He seems like a nice guy. Besides, «While we teach, we learn» as this one guy said. Was it Seneca?" You shrugged your shoulders. "Nevermind. It could also be Gandalf. Anyways, I'll try my best. If he really wants to learn, tell him to wait for me after our Transfiguration class on Friday. It's no big deal, I have to study too."
And so you rushed out of the library, wanting to forget about this conversation as soon as possible. You lied – it was a big deal.
As it turned out, it was impossible. Even in the middle of the night, all you could think of was Mark and your conversation with Hyuck.
Tumblr media
At first, you thought that Mark was not there. When you and your friends left the classroom there were so many people in the corridor that you almost missed him out.
He was standing there, casually leaning back against the wall. His hair was a bit messy and his black sweater was rumpled. He had a leather bag slung over his shoulder, books almost falling out of it.
When he saw you his face suddenly brightened, he smiled and walked toward you, which made your poor heart race like crazy.
Your friends looked at you with confusion as you left them with a short "see you later" and went to greet Mark. There were definitely going to be some questions afterward.
"I'm sorry," he said quickly and bit his lip. "I mean I'm sorry that Haechan was bothering you. But I do need help."
"That's okay," you replied, avoiding his gaze and starting to walk in the opposite direction than the rest of the Ravenclaws. "He wasn't rude or anything. And I'm glad that I could help. The exam is in two weeks so we still have time to practice."
At least I'm not stuttering, you thought, as you both started to talk about your classes while walking toward the empty classroom on the third floor. It was so weird, talking with the boy that you had a crush on since last year. He was a great listener. Besides, he was laughing at your jokes and kept the conversation going so when you reached the classroom you were out of your breath. It felt like you have known him forever and wondered why you hadn't spoken to him earlier.
"I've never been there," he confessed, as you walked into the room. "It looks like it has rarely been used."
You agreed with him, looking at the desks standing in neat rows and the emerald green blackboard.
"I'm sometimes hiding in here," you confessed. "When I need to be alone or practice some spells."
Mark sat on the top of the desk that was the closest. He scrunched his nose.
"Wait, so you just revealed to me your hiding spot?"
You shrugged your shoulders, praying that you won't blush because blushing was lame and you weren't that weak. You had some self-control, after all, right?
"I mean, it's kinda cool, y/n. Thanks. I promise I won't tell anybody about it" he added and you smiled broadly.
"Thanks." You placed your bag on the chair and looked at him, thinking. "Alright, we should start with something simple. But before that, I want to see what you can do."
That sounded a little bit ambiguous. But Mark didn't seem to notice at all, to your relief. He pulled out his wand and took the goblet that you handed him. You borrowed it from the Great Hall in the morning.
"Made it invisible," you ordered.
You didn't tell him that you knew what he was capable of. Mark was the main reason that you got distracted in professor's McGonagall class. You just couldn't stop glaring at him over your partner's shoulder. He was so cute when he struggled with trying to change his pen into a flute.
Nowadays professor McGonagall divided you into twos, the spells that you had been practicing included making things invisible and changing the appearance of your partner. It was getting harder, especially because it required staying focused all the time.
Mark pulled out his wand and mumbled a spell but the goblet only shook a little. He sighed with disappointment, looking as if he was expecting that.
"That's alright," you told him softly, getting closer. "Do it again, please," you instructed and watched him fail again.
Suddenly you clapped your hands, making the poor boy jump. He got off the desk, now standing in front of you. You gulped and stepped back. He was taller than you and you suddenly felt like a little child, even though it was only a 10 centimeters difference.
"When you're casting this spell you really do need to focus," you said, taking the goblet back into your bag.
Mark looked at you with an unreadable expression, his eyes suddenly darkened.
"It's because I can't focus in class".
You raised your eyebrows.
"Lucas is making fun of me," he added, not looking directly into your eyes.
"Oh," you suddenly went silent. "I understand." You really did, after all, he was your main distraction. "But there's no Lucas in here. You just have to relax and do it."
"Yeah," he said quietly. "Relax."
You smiled at him warmly and pointed your wand towards the backboard.
"The next step is pronunciation. You said it too fast and the accent was on the wrong syllable." You instructed. "It should be on the ab. It's very important to say it in the right way. I think that your wrist movement is okay, it shouldn't be too forced. And then..." you suddenly caught his gaze and got distracted for a second. Why was he looking at you like that? He looked so serious, completely different from the regular Mark. "Then you just have to imagine that the object is getting invisible."
You raised your wand and focused on the blackboard in front of you. You cast the spell, saying the words carefully.
The light flashed and suddenly the blackboard was gone.
"See?" You looked at the boy behind you. "Try to think about the thing that you want to be done. Not about the casting spell itself or the task that you have to do. Just imagine that the object is disappearing, I think it could be helpful."
The Gryffindor boy looked really lost, and you wanted to hug him so badly. Or to run away and never come back.
"Oh, come on. I know that you can do it, you're a great wizard," you tried to comfort him. "Be confident. I won't be laughing, I promise."
Mark shook his head with disbelief, laughing softly.
"Okay, but have you seen you? I'm certainly not great."
And there you were, blushing. Your self-control was a joke. It never existed.
"Bullshit," you said, shaking your head and thinking for a moment. Maybe he needed a better example. "Just imagine that you're playing Quidditch. You're not concentrating on the thought that you have to take care of the Quaffle, right Markie? You're just... Doing it."
"Alright," he said, suddenly smiling. He stood next to you and tried to cast the spell the way you showed him.
30 seconds later the hold of the chalk box disappeared out of your sight.
You hugged him out of joy and shouted "I knew it!" before you realized what you were doing. You wished that the earth would swallow you right now.
He was so warm, his sweater so soft and, yup, he smelled so nice. Like a fabric softener or some kind of hand cream. Like a safe place.
You stepped back, pretending that it didn't happen at all. Should you apologize? Was he mad?
"I like when you call me Markie," he suddenly confessed.
You moved your hand nervously and unfortunately, that was the hand in which you were holding your wand. Your bag exploded and there were pieces of paper everywhere.
You were a disaster even without Mark's presence. But with him, everything was harder.

It took Mark almost a week to master the basics which made you wonder what exactly he was doing in class. He wasn't bad but it seemed like he didn't listen to Professor McGonagall at all. But after practicing a few times, he was getting better and better and you felt proud.
It was almost exam time and thinking about it, it made you feel sad. That means that soon your help will no longer be needed. You liked spending time with Mark and that was coming to an end. But it also meant that the final Quidditch match was approaching.
The final match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff was the most anticipated event that was about to take place this school year. As a Ravenclaw, you could be cheering on either of the teams. However, almost everyone that you knew wished that Gryffindor wins. Caroline, who was in Slytherin, although had no interest in Quidditch, wanted them to win. Of course, it might have had something to do with the fact that she was in love with Lee Jeno, one of Gryffindor's Beaters. Who, you must admit, looked incredibly good in quidditch robes.
Watching the competition was exciting but on the other hand, Mark seemed to be more and more nervous because of the approaching event. He was wandering somewhere with his thoughts and just couldn't focus on anything. You couldn't get any idea what could help relieve his stress. You tried to cheer him up with some sweets from Honeyduke but that only worked for a few minutes and there he was, nervous and absent-minded.
"Are you sure that you're okay?" you asked him, as he unwrapped and wrapped one of the candies for the third time.
You were revising the spells that he mastered previously and it was like he did not learn anything. Fail after fail.
He was staring through the window like it was the most interesting thing in the universe. It was a hot, sunny day and you both took off your caps.
"Yeah," he said, and then he looked at your face. He frowned. "No."
You leaned in your chair.
"What's going on? Can I help?"
He shook his head, his dark hair falling into his eyes. You refrained from the urge to fix them.
"It's nothing," he turned from the window and sat on the table, next to you. "It's just all this pressure. I have to lead my team, study to pass all of those exams and lately, I couldn't sleep well. Sometimes I wish Quidditch never existed, you know?"
"But you love doing it," you protested quickly. "What's the point in getting stressed about the things that should bring you joy? I think that you should just enjoy the match, trust your teammates and do everything that you can to win. If it's not gonna work out, that's not your fault."
There was a few seconds of silence after that.
"I wonder... Are you an angel or something?" he asked quietly, moving his head closer to yours. "What time do you have to be back in heaven?"
You choked and your eyes widened. What was he trying to do? Were you hallucinating?
"You always help me," he said quickly, blushing. "You always know what to say to make me feel better. I should be offering you help to make it up to you. It's not fair."
"Wait," you weren't going to let that go. "What's with that angel part? Is that a pick-up line or something?"
Your heart was beating so fast that you were sure everyone in the castle could hear it.
He shrugged, cheeks getting a darker shade of pink. He avoided looking at you.
"Maybe, I dunno. Hyuck suggested that I said that."
You sighed, slowly calming yourself down. Okay, that sounded like something that Donghyuck could come up with. Completely normal behavior. No big deal.
"Listen, it's nothing. I really enjoyed helping you. Besides, I had an opportunity to practice more so it's a good thing and..."
"Will you come to the match to cheer me up, please?" he interrupted, spitting out words quickly. "Illtrywinningforyou."
"What?" You looked at him, slightly confused.
Mark covered his face with his hands and groaned.
"Don't let me repeat that, please. I'm already embarrassed enough."
"Wait," you gulped and tried to get your shit back together. "Of course, I'll come to the match to cheer you up! You worked so hard to win, I'm sure the cup will be yours..."
"No," Mark finally looked at you and leaned in, his warm breath reaching your face. "I didn't mean... I mean..." He closed his eyes for a second and opened them back again. You realized how long his lashes were, his hair looked so soft and fluffy. You looked at his lips for a second. "It's a date."
"Oh." That was the only sound that left your mouth. Your heart was racing like crazy, your breath was short and unstable, hands shaking, and your mind was a real mess. It took you a few seconds to be able to say something. "Y-yeah, sure."
"You don't have to come if you don't want to, of course," he added quickly but this time it was you who interrupted him.
"I do want to go out with you," you heard those words coming out of your mouth like it was someone else who was controlling you. Someone much braver.
Mark was smiling so broadly, that you could swear his shining eyes were smiling too.
"I'll never use Hyuck's pick-up lines ever again."

As the last exam approached your stress level was as high as the Astronomy tower. You couldn't stay calm with all of your fellow classmates always talking about the exams and with panicking Mark whose nervousness affected you. It was the last weekend before the Transfiguration exam and everyone in the Ravenclaw tower was studying really hard, some of the people missed meals to study instead. You were sitting in one of the blue stuffed armchairs in the circular common room, staring into the domed ceiling full of stars. Although you have never been to Gryffindor or Hufflepuff's common room you were sure this place was the most beautiful room in the entire castle. Sometimes you like to imagine that you were somewhere else, laying on the cold grass, watching the night sky, being a part of nature. But not right now. This time the loud noise of the crowded common room ruined everything.
Instead of imagining those things, you focused your thoughts on more current affairs. You thought about the exam that was approaching and about the lessons that you have been giving Mark for the past two weeks. Naturally, Professor McGonagall noticed the progress that he had made and seemed very pleased, although it was hard to tell because she rarely gave others praise.
Mark wasn't a bad wizard in any of the subjects that you two have been practicing. He just was easily distracted and didn't have much time to practice because of the constant Quidditch training sessions.
You sighed, trying to get more comfortable in the chair, and started repeating in your mind the things that you've been revising in the morning but it was a hopeless case. The noisiness was driving you crazy, your heart was pounding really fast and it was getting hotter in here. You decided that it was better to start getting ready for dinner as it was almost the right time. You left the common room and on the way to the Great Hall were so lost in your thoughts, that initially you didn't notice that someone was calling your name.
You stopped abruptly, searching for the source of this voice and when you realized that it was your favorite voice in the universe who was calling you, you smiled.
"Hey, y/n!" Mark looked like he was running to catch up with you, his hair was messy and his breath shortened. He was coming back from the grounds, probably just entering the castle. He caught up with you at the last minute, a few more tens of seconds and you would have disappeared into the depths of the Great Hall.
"Hi, Mark" you tried to fix your robe and straighten some wrinkles on your clothes. You looked at him, suddenly nervous. "What's up? Is everything going okay with your Quidditch practice?"
He pulled you aside, as some seventh years passed you and hurriedly entered the Great Hall.
"Yeah, I guess so. I mean," he scratched the back of his head, "we had Jaehyun as our Chaser last year. This year we had to replace him with that guy Michael. Of course, we still have Jeno as a Beater and he's great..."
"And you," you interrupted him.
"What?" he furrowed his eyebrows, clearly confused.
"I mean, you're also a great player to me... Probably the best Seeker in this castle, I think that you're amazing" you said, cringing so much at your own words. You hid your face in your hands. "Oh my, I'm so sorry, that was really cheesy."
He suddenly laughed and when you heard his laugh you felt the sudden urge to laugh too. His chuckles were soft and always made you smile.
"I think that's kind of cute," he confessed, his dark eyes shining. "It's always me who says embarrassing things though. My friends always make fun of me because of this... Not that you said something embarrassing, of course," he added quickly. "I'm honored that you think that way. It's just that for the first time it's not me..."
You looked at him, not sure what to do. If that was true, that meant that you two had much more in common than you thought. At times you were so chaotic, clumsy and said stupid things but your friends just accepted that as a part of your personality. To you, it was really annoying.
On the other hand, he thought that what you said was cute and it made you smile broadly.
"You know what," he said, looking at the door to the Great Hall. "It's almost dinner time so I thought that we could eat something together... I mean," he gulped, "you can sit at Gryffindor's table and get to know my friends. Those guys are really great, you know..."
It was really nice of him, nice and unexpected. He noticed that you were heading to the Great Hall all by yourself and probably thought that your friends won't be there because they were studying. It was true though, you planned to eat alone today. But was it essential for you to meet his friends? It was a little bit scary for you, as you didn't like to talk with strangers. Technically, they weren't strangers, but they weren't your friends either. You were afraid that they won't like you or that you'll say something stupid and embarrass yourself...
It was Caroline who came to your rescue. She was on her way to dinner and spotted you two standing in the corner.
"Hello, lovebirds," she grinned at you two. "The entrance is this way," she said, pointing in the right direction. "Whatcha up to?"
"We were just going to eat dinner together," Mark said bravely and you almost choked. Were you?
Caroline raised her eyebrows so high that they almost disappeared behind her cute blonde bangs. She looked mildly amused.
"Great, so let's go," she ordered and when Mark rushed to the door, she turned back and winked at you.
She knew that you didn't have the guts to go there all by yourself and you felt a rush of gratitude toward your best friend. What would you do without her?
You entered the crowded Great Hall and for the first time didn't head to the Ravenclaw table, but followed Mark and sat next to him at the Gryffindor table. It felt really weird, but also exciting. Caroline sat down in front of you and helped herself to some food, clearly unbothered. You looked at the staff table but there was only professor Trelawney and professor Sinistra. No real danger in the sight. Some teachers would tell you to sit at your House's table.
Mark was sitting next to you, your arms almost touching. You hid your hands under the table, they were shaking slightly. It took you a good minute to calm yourself down before you were able to start eating. It wasn't that bad after all, in the beginning, there were no of his friends to be seen. You spoke with Mark casually, joking about professor Snape's haircare and talking about the exams. You just couldn't feel bad in his presence. But after a few minutes, Jungwoo came, and shortly after him Haechan and two girls that you didn't know also arrived at the Gryffindor table.
"Hi," said Jungwoo, smiling nicely at you and Caroline. He was even cuter up close. But not as cute as Mark, of course. "I'm Jungwoo."
You just finished exchanging greetings when Haechan spoke up.
"So as I was saying to our pretty friends," he pointed at those girls who didn't introduce themselves at all, "this match will be phenomenal. Of course, if I was playing, it would be out of this world."
The girls giggled and noticed that one of them had long, nice red hair and wore Gryffindor robes. The second girl was a tall blonde with a slightly upturned nose. They both were quite pretty but also kind of intimidating.
"I'm sure of that, sweetheart," the blonde girl said. "You're the best player out there, after all."
You exchanged looks with your best friend and almost burst into laughter. Sure, maybe he wasn't bad but that conversation was going in a weird direction.
Haechan ignored her and looked at his friend.
"We're counting on you, Mark. Give us some entertainment."
You frowned at his words. Haechan was a Slytherin, he shouldn't be putting so much pressure on Mark, especially being in a different House. Even if he was joking, that wasn't right.
You looked at Mark out of the corner of your eye, trying to read his expression. His arms were tense, face suddenly blanked as he shrugged his shoulders, trying to look as if it didn't affect him at all.
"Not gonna disappoint anybody."
Haechan smiled with satisfaction and helped himself to some food, ignoring the meaningful look Jungwoo gave him.
"Oh, I'm sure if you were playing, sweetheart, it would be amazing. They should start selling tickets so that people could see you," said one of the girls that came with Haechan.
You tried not to laugh and noticed that Jungwoo was also trying hard to stay calm.
"I would gladly buy the ticket to see you in the circus, sweetheart," said Caroline mockingly, imitating that blonde girl.
Everyone except Hyuck and that blonde girl laughed. You noticed the soft chuckle behind your back so you quickly turned around just to see Lee Jeno who was listening to your conversation.
He smiled at your friend and came to the chair at your other side, clearly amused.
"So, there's some kind of House exchange meeting, I see," he said and took his seat. He always looked kind of intimidating to you but from up close he wasn't so scary. He was still smiling, his voice calm and soft, his dark hair falling into his eyes. "Hope that I'm invited."
"Only if you'd make Haechan shut up," said Caroline, raising her eyebrow and you almost choked.
"Hey!" shouted Haechan but at the same time Jeno spoke:
"I think that you did a great job in silencing him already," he smiled at her and took a large swig of pumpkin juice.
Haechan had a look on his face like he was going to kill somebody, same with his girlfriends. On the other hand, Jungwoo looked like he was having the time of his life. And Mark… Mark was clearly confused.
You tried to change the subject quickly before they started fighting.
"So how is your preparation for the exams going?" you asked and then took a bite of your chicken wing.
"So-so-," answered Jungwoo, but he was cut off by the loud laughter that came out of that red-haired girl.
"You, Ravenclaws, are really such nerds," she said. "Do you really think that someone cares about that useless exam?"
"Meghan," said Jeno with a warning in his voice.
You felt the rush of hotness coming to your cheeks, suddenly aware of the noise that was in the Great Hall. It was really crowded, full of smells and noise. You gulped, trying not to look at anybody. It was like a punch in the stomach, it hurt and you suddenly weren't able to say a word. Why did she have to be so mean? You didn't do anything to her.
"I was just trying to be nice," you started, avoiding her gaze but she interrupted.
"I just still can't understand why you have to study with her, Mark," Meghan said and you opened your mouth in amazement. "Do you really like cramming?"
Mark shuddered and you moved away from him a little bit to see his expression better. You were curious.
"What? It's not like that! I wouldn't be studying with y/n in the first place if I didn't have to…"
You felt like he had punched you, you were suddenly out of breath, looking at him with sadness. So all this time he didn't enjoy studying with you? And what about this date that he mentioned? Was it some sort of payment for teaching him? You receive a date with an amazing guy and he is going to receive some tutoring in exchange? Which he clearly wasn't fond of?
Everyone went silent, even Caroline, listening to your conversation. You suddenly felt that you didn't have an appetite so you moved your plate away from you. You had the urge to punch Meghan and you know that it was a really stupid idea, as there were professors in here. And at the same time, you were on the edge of bursting into tears.
"If you say so," Meghan continued, her green eyes gleaming. "I personally think that people who like to study are so boring. Why do they even do this? To impress someone? It must be so hard to study with her," she looked at Mark under her long lashes.
Mark, who looked kind of embarrassed, raised his hands.
"It wasn't that bad..."
You stood up so quickly that you knocked off Marked cup. No one was moving, even Haechan looked terrified.
"I understand," you said coldly.
You looked at Mark for a few seconds and then ran out of the Great Hall before any tears started falling. You ran as fast as you could, your eyesight blurred, face wet with warm tears. You didn't even know where you wanted to go, you just tried to escape, to be as far as you could from them, from the noise and humiliation.
You heard that they were screaming your name, even Jungwoo, Haechan and Jeno tried to stop you, but you didn't listen, you wanted to be left alone, to hide and cry in peace. Why couldn't you just stay here calm, and say something funny to loosen up the situation? Why did you have to be such a drama queen?
You turned another corner and opened the random doors that were in that corridor. Luckily, they were open and the classroom was empty. No ghosts, no teachers, no stupid red-haired beauties.
You wiped your face with a scrap of your sleeve and tried to breathe in and out but you just couldn't stop crying. You were hurt, maybe because something in her words was true. You did want to impress others, to prove that you were put in your House for some reason. You liked studying and receiving good grades but you also wanted to feel worthy, you sought acceptance. You feared that Mark didn't really like you too and your assumptions were confirmed. He didn't like spending his time with you and it seemed like it was all just a joke.
You heard footsteps at the other side of the door, and your heart was beating so fast.
"Y/n, I'm sorry!" Mark screamed, his voice breaking slightly and the doors opened.
You took a step back, surprised. He looked like he was about to cry as well, his hair was messy, eyes big and scared.
"I don't want your apology," your voice broke. "You did nothing wrong, just told the truth… It's… It's nothing, you can go."
But you were hurt and he could clearly see it. That was the problem. You didn't want to be so vulnerable in his eyes, you wanted to look strong and interesting and cool. Not like a boring nerd who cries at everything.
"I didn't mean it like that," he said softly, reaching his hand to the knob of the door that you were hiding behind. "No one really thinks that way about you…"
Your tears started falling again and you felt like you were on the edge. You had to hide, run away, no matter what. You wanted to believe him but at this moment you just couldn't.
"I got your point, Mark, so please stop pretending that you do care about me!"
You slammed the door behind his shocked eyes and leaned against the door, slowly sliding to the floor. Your face was wet, full of hot tears. You heard him knocking gently on the door but you just ignored him and hid your face in your arms. It was nothing, right? Just some stupid words, which were spoken in a crowded place so that everyone could hear them…
"Y/n?" you heard Mark's voice again and all that you wanted to do was to open that god-damned door, put your shit together and just hug him. But you couldn't.
You heard his footsteps as he walked away and then the silence fell. You sit there for a few minutes and then decide that the patch is probably clear and you can leave this empty classroom. You stood up and when you reached your hand to open the door, it suddenly burst open. You jumped back at the last moment.
"What do you think you're doing?" Caroline was outraged. "I thought that you're not that kind of guy!"
You opened your mouth, shocked but then noticed Mark standing behind her. He probably went to look for her and now they were back.
"It's okay…" you said but then closed your mouth, not knowing what else to say.
Mark was speechless and Caroline slammed the doors again, then rushed to give you a big hug.
"It's nothing to care about, really…" you started again.
"You're my best friend, of course I do fucking care! I would climb to this tower using my own hands and slap Mark in the face so that he could treat you better if I had to. I mean– I will always care about you!"
She stroked your head slowly, her words making you cry again. She was the best friend that you could ever imagine.
"But everyone probably thinks I'm a crybaby," you said, trembling a little bit. "That was pathetic, I overreacted and I'm fully aware of that. It's so embarrassing!"
Caroline looked into your eyes and then she sighed.
"No, you did not. That girl is just stupid, she wanted to make you look smaller in everyone's eyes because she has a crush on Mark," when she said those words, she tucked you closer. "Haechan told me. Mark stopped showing any interest in her years ago but she's still jealous. She has a right to have those feelings but doing that was fucking mean. And it wasn't okay. If anyone should have problems, they should have problems with her, not you."
A puzzled look came across your face. Maybe she was right, but there was also that tiny voice that was saying that Meghan was right and you really were boring. You tried to silence it.
"Okay, then that really was fucking mean."
Caroline laughed and bumped your nose with her finger.
"There's something good in this situation after all. When you were gone, Jeno was so angry at Meghan that I had to refrain him from doing something stupid. So we're friends now," she ended with a huge smile on her face.
"That was fast," you said. "But I'm glad, really."
You both sit there for a moment, still hugging. Your tears have already dried out when you spoke.
"I'm worried about Mark," you confessed, blushing slightly. "Tomorrow's that exam and the day after that Quidditch match. And he probably thinks I hate him, which is obviously not true. I care about him so much that it hurts and I don't want him to feel bad or to be distracted during the match or exam." You wanted to cry again.
Caroline sighed and stared at the black and white patterns on the floor.
"He'll be fine. After all, he had the best tutor in the entire castle... Maybe in the entire country."

The Transfiguration exam wasn't that bad, in fact, you were prepared as ever, maybe because of the hours that you've spent with Mark studying all those spells. However, you still weren't certain if you did great or not, your head full of words and formulas you couldn't get rid of.
You weren't in the mood for a Quidditch match, to be honest, but you just couldn't miss seeing Mark play. Even if it hurt, you just had to.
The day was bright and sunny as you took a seat at Ravenclaw's spectators tower. Caroline was sitting on the other side of the pitch, but it was okay. That way you could just focus on your feelings and suffer alone.
You opened your bag to get some snacks, but then you noticed one of Mark's friends sitting near you. It was Renjun, who was also a Ravenclaw. He had a Gryffindor flag in his hands and his face was painted in gold and red. You gulped and decided that you were not hungry anymore.
As seats were slowly filling up, the noise on the pitch was getting louder. Everyone was really excited – it was the final match, after all. There were no exams, at least for you, to study for and the summer holidays were approaching, so everyone had free time to watch the show. It was almost time to start the match – Madame Hooch already stood on the pitch, the wooden box in front of her. You stared at the field, awaiting Quidditch players to come out when in the corner of your eye you saw Hyuck who was entering Ravenclaw tower. You thought that maybe he was here to see Renjun, but to your surprise, he walked over to you.
"Hi," he greeted you shyly. "Do you mind?" he asked, pointing to the empty seat next to you.
You shook your head and he sat there, staring at the Quidditch pitch.
"The weather isn't that bad for the Quidditch match," he said but to your surprise, he was frowning slightly.
You looked at the clear sky and bit your lip. His appearance was weird and you started wondering what he wanted from you. After a few seconds of awkward silence, you opened your mouth to say something but then he interrupted you.
"Listen, I'm sorry that Megan turned out to be so rude," he blurted out, stroking his deep brown hair with a hand. "I think I just like when other people compliment me, when I think about it now… It's not like I'm friends with her and I knew that she makes Mark feel uncomfortable but I didn't do anything about her…"
You smiled at him lightly and then opened your bag to pull out a box with some cookies.
"Have some," you said, putting it under his nose.
"Wait, what?" his eyes got bigger and he looked at you suspiciously.
"My mum sent them to me by owl this morning," you explained and took a bite of one of the chocolate cookies. "And it's not your fault that she said what she said. You're not responsible for anything… " you added. "But when I'm thinking about it now, you shouldn't have said those things to Mark, you know, about entertaining us. He was pretty stressed out before, but this only made things worse, I guess…".
The sound of Madam Hooch's whistle cut the air and you both looked in that direction. The roar of noise filled the pitch as both teams mounted their brooms and the match started. The appearance of Haechan distracted you and you didn't notice that both teams had already entered the pitch. Your gaze naturally followed Mark's silhouette as he was cutting the air smoothly on his broom. His dark hair was swept by the air but he was too far to see if he was nervous or not.
Haechan took the entire box with your mom's cookies and put it on his lap.
"He really likes you, you know," he said slowly and you choked on your cookie. He was following the match with focus but you were staring at him with disbelief. "I know I'm betraying my best friend right now, but I feel like I have to fix that situation. He likes spending time with you, that's all I can say. And he looks much happier than before you two started studying together."
You smiled broadly and searched for Mark with your eyes. He was still circling the pitch in search of the Snitch.
"I like spending time with him too," you confessed and suddenly remembered the things you'd been thinking about before. "Do you know how his exam went?" you asked.
"He was pretty happy with how it went, I think," Haechan frowned. "Didn't transfigure the professor's hat, his own eyebrows, or anything like that from what I've heard. Mark may not be the best in class but he certainly is better than he was two months ago."
You shook your head happily and followed the commentary of the match. The Gryffindors were leading but the match could take a different direction if the Hufflepuff's team caught the golden Snitch. You spent the whole match talking with Haechan, him explaining to you the intricacies of some manoeuvers and the weak and strong sides of both teams. It was actually much more fun knowing all those things and you could clearly tell that Haechan was really into this sport.
The match was getting more intense and the air got hotter, causing you to take off your coat. You were pretty much relaxed, Haechan jokes made you feel much better. But then you saw something that made your stomach squeeze. As Mark took a sudden turn on his broom, you were sitting at the edge of your seat, tapping your leg nervously. He clearly saw the Golden Snitch and he was speeding up now to catch it before anyone else. But the Hufflepuff's Seeker must have noticed it too because he was following Mark.
Your heart was pounding so hard, cheeks warm from the excitement. That was it. If Mark catches the Snitch, he'd prove himself as a great leader and a great player. No one would say that he's worse than the previous team captain, and even if someone did, it shouldn't affect Mark at all.
You lean forward in your seat, clenching fists and praying that the Gryffindor team wins.
Mark was speeding forward, his silhouette blurred and he reached to capture the little golden ball with wings. But then the Bludger appeared and he had to fly upwards abruptly to avoid getting crushed by it. You held your breath and saw from the corner of your eye that Haechan's face was as white as chalk.
The other team's Seeker, Summerby, was following the Golden Snitch, his eyes focused on it completely. Mark let him overtake him and significantly lowered his flight.
"What is he doing…?" you said but at the same time you discovered what he was about to do and you smiled.
As Summerby was following the Golden Snitch, he wasn't aware of his surroundings and the fact that the Gryffindor team's Beater, Lee Jeno, sent a Bludger in his direction.
Few things happened in the blink of an eye. When Hufflepuff's Seeker reached out his hand, the Bludger hit him right in the chest, causing him to change his flight's trajectory. And as he was fighting with it to stay on his broom, Mark suddenly emerged from below him, sped up, and closed his outstretched hand on the Snitch.
The noise after this was unbearable but it was nothing as you were screaming at the top of your lungs too. You jumped from your seat, whistling and laughing with joy, the sun shining in your hair and happiness in your eyes. Haechan grabbed your wrist and pulled you towards the stairs and onto the pitch, not caring about your protests. The entire Gryffindor team was surrounded by a cheering crowd so you couldn't see the person that you wanted to see the most. But Haechan somehow managed to get you both through all of those people and suddenly you were standing face-to-face with Mark.
His dark brown eyes were gleaming, his hair was swept by the wind and messy and you wanted to fix them, to stroke them so badly. He looked really tired but also happy and seeing him like that made you chuckle.
He freed himself from the rest of his team members who were patting him on his back and took a step closer. He was right in front of you and suddenly you cannot breathe anymore.
"I…" you said but he cupped your cheeks in his big hands and kissed you in front of everyone.
The cheers got louder but at this moment you couldn't care less. The world must have ended because there you were, being kissed by Mark Lee and suddenly you felt like everything was in the right place.
You were melting under his lips, his warm fingers brushing your cheek slowly as he dived into that kiss and you closed your eyes. He smelled like fresh-cut grass and somewhat like a fabric softener. You put your hand on his back, feeling his body under the Quidditch uniform, and hugged him tightly.
It was somehow centuries and seconds later when you two broke the kiss off.
You chuckled softly as he rose you in the air and spun you in the air.
If all of this didn't mean that he really liked you then you didn't know what did.
"Mark…" you whispered, forgetting that he probably won't hear it because of all that noise, but he grabbed your hand and put the Golden Snitch in it.
"I caught this for you. I won for you," he said, looking at you seriously and you gulped, tears forming in your eyes, happiness filling you up completely.
The crowd was pressing onto you both, everyone wanted to congratulate Mark, to celebrate. You noticed Haechan standing nearby, there was a smirk on his face.
"You've embarrassed us both and that's why I like you so much, weirdo," you said, smiling broadly.
Tumblr media
The whole week that happened after that felt like a dream to you. You felt like you were on cloud nine, everything was new and exciting and you were smiling so much. Hugging Mark, kissing him, holding hands with him and talking to him for hours – everything was just so surreal.
The weather was getting hotter each day and you spent every sunlit day with Mark, walking around the grounds, sitting in the library, or hanging out with him and his friends in the Great Hall. There was one last trip to the Hogsmeade planned to take place last Saturday at the castle before the summer holidays and, naturally, you both signed up.
There was no cloud in the sky that day, as you and Caroline were taking the route to the village. You couldn't find Mark in the crowd but it didn't bother you because you two were going to meet at the Three Broomsticks. Even though it was hot, you enjoyed your walk, you and your best friend chatting about everything and nothing, enjoying the fresh air and the rays of the sun. Caroline told you about her conversations with Jeno, who wanted to become a musician. Her uncle runs The Wizarding Wireless Network and she was really excited when he agreed to play one of Jeno's songs at his station. She and Gryffindor's Beater were getting along so well and you couldn't be happier for them, knowing how she secretly adored him.
You reached the Hogsmeade in a blink of an eye and parted your ways in front of the pub. You entered the Three Broomsticks and looked around the crowded space. You couldn't find your boyfriend so you decided to take a free table which was hidden behind a pillar. It wasn't long before Mark appeared and took a seat next to you.
"Hello, beautiful," he greeted you shyly and you blushed slightly.
"I'm embarrassed but also flattered," you confessed and he laughed softly, which made your heart skip a beat.
"Embarrassing you is kinda my job right now."
After you two ordered your drinks, you spent a nice time talking and observing other people who were getting in and out of the pub. After an hour you decided to move somewhere else as the place was getting more and more crowded. You really wanted to visit the newly opened bookstore Flourish & Blotts and Mark didn't mind it so you headed there. Almost immediately you got lost behind the numerous bookcases, browsing more and more books. It was only when the pile of books that you wanted to buy got really big, you noticed that Mark was standing aside, looking at you with a smile on his lips.
"Megan was right," you sighed and moved aside some hair that had fallen into your eyes. "I'm such a nerd," you said, looking at your pile of books.
Mark approached and suddenly hugged you, almost causing you to drop the book that you'd been holding.
"You're my favorite nerd," he corrected you and you burst out laughing.
"I'm sorry for my dramatic runaway," you said, suddenly serious. You reached out your free hand and touched the mole on his cheek gently. "I was really jealous of her… And also so insecure, I guess."
Mark laid his hand on yours and squeezed it.
"It was me who should be sorry though, y/n. I totally panicked and said some things that I shouldn't have."
"Like the fact that you don't like studying?" you raised your eyebrows. "I don't think that was a lie, you know."
He shook his head and took the book that you were holding, adding it to the pile. He sighed.
"I guess It's time to tell you the truth," he said and your heart sink into your chest. "Haechan asked you to help me with studying because I had a crush on you," he confessed, avoiding your gaze. "It was getting worse and worse and I got so distracted in classes because I tried so hard not to look in your direction… I couldn't focus and the lessons got harder. At the same time, I was falling behind because I didn't know the basics." He leaned against the bookcase and brushed his hair. Mark looked like he was pulling himself together to say something but you just couldn't stand the silence.
"Well, I got so distracted too because I had a crush on you," you confessed, looking at the floor.
"Really?!" Mark's voice crashed at the last syllable and you smiled. He cleared his throat.
"Well, I wasn't expecting that. But either way, I thought that you were smart and beautiful and all of that and Haechan noticed it so he came to you to ask for your help. That little bastard," he added silently. "And then we started to spend time together and I began to care more and more about you. So when Megan asked me about those things in the Great Hall I totally panicked. I didn't want Hachan to tease me and, most importantly, to tease you so I tried to avoid the right answer. Which is," he sighed again, '' I like you. I really do, y/n. And it's not just that I like you. As we were spending that time together I totally fell in love with you. I just love watching you getting excited over books or those Muggle cartoons that you've told me about. I love when you make me laugh or make me feel confident when I'm worrying about things because you actually believe in me. I love talking to you and I feel like you always understand me and know me even better than I know myself.
And I just couldn't imagine the world without you because when you're not in the room I always think about you and what you're doing and if you're happy. I'm a mess without you, not just in the Transfiguration field but, like, overall."
He said all of that with such sincerity that you just didn't know how to respond, every word hitting you right into your heart.
"That was the most beautiful monologue that was ever said to me," you said and took his hand, staring at it with eyes full of tears. "I didn't expect that you're such a romantic guy." You hesitated but decided to be honest too. There was no one in that part of the bookshop but even if there were tons of people, you would say the same thing. "I love you too, Markie. I'm so happy that I have you because I finally feel like I can be myself next to you and I'm enjoying every second of it. But please, don't make me say all the things that I love you for right now because we'll be late for dinner If I do."
Mark burst into laughter and hugged you, also causing you to chuckle.
"I just wanted to clarify one thing. I'm not like you, y/n. I'm not into studying at all. But I do like spending time with you and I'd do anything, even the most boring things, like studying, for example, to be able to stay close to you."
You rolled your eyes and dipped your hand in his hair, brushing it softly. But after a few seconds, he took a step back. You looked at him with curiosity as he pulled out something from his pocket.
"I've never thanked you for helping me to pass that exam, you know," he said. "So here I am. Thanks, babe. And" he reached out a small box in your direction, "this is a gift for you for that."
You took the box out of this extended hand and opened it. Seeing the content of it made you gasp. There was a Golden Snitch inside, intricately decorated and smaller than the original one and you realized that it wasn't just a ball. It was actually a necklace.
"Hope you like it," Mark said, looking at you from below his dark and long lashes.
"I love it so much I could marry it," you said, as he stood behind your back to fasten it around your neck. And as he did so, he left a soft kiss behind your ear.
"And besides that," he whispered, causing goosebumps all over your body, "I listened behind classroom doors when you said that you care about me… And you still have to tell me what you love me for, you know."

On the King’s Cross train station on your very first day, you almost missed the train because your dad absolutely wanted to take the best pic of his precious kid going to the mythic Hogwarts school. So you ended up in an almost empty compartment. The other compartments around were full and there was just this boy alone.
“Hey, can I sit here?” You probably startled him because he looked up at you with wild eyes but instantly smiled at your sight.
“Yeah, sure.”
“What are you doing all alone?” you asked as you sat in front of him.
He shrugged. “Looking at my chocolate frog cards collection.”
“Wow, nice. Can I see?”
He handed them to you, “Yes, of course. I’m Jisung by the way.”
“I’m Y/N.”
Since that day, you were inseparable and soon became partners-in-crime. Being put in different houses didn’t stop you.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿ฺ
After learning Alohomora in charms class, you wandered in the castle to find a forbidden office to open and what better one than the caretaker’s where a whole lot of interesting things were stored?
There, you found a few dungbombs that Jisung instantly took, confiscated brooms and chains. A lot of perfectly polished chains hung on the walls.
“I understand why he doesn’t stay here often,” you snorted and returned to your inspection. In a dusty cabinet named ‘Confiscated and Highly Dangerous’, you found an old piece of blank parchment. It was mysteriously well conserved taking into account where it was so you put it in your pocket. Further inspection will be done to know how a simple parchment could be ‘highly dangerous’.
“I’m kinda disappointed. Sure we’ll use the dungbombs wisely but I thought there were more interesting treasures.”
“Don’t be so down yet Ji, I found a mystery to resolve. Let’s go before we get caught.”
Fortunately, you didn’t get caught. You both went to your common room, being a quiet place with almost no students at this hour. You showed Jisung the parchment and counted on his intelligence and logic to figure out how it worked. After a few minutes, he looked up at you and smirked.
“I feel like it’s in good hands now.”
You raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
Instead of answering, he put his wand out of his pocket and pointed it to the parchment.
“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good,” he simply said. You were going to question him when the parchment caught your eye. Ink was spreading on the paper and soon you could read:
“Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs, Purveyors of Aids to Magical Mischief-Makers are proud to present…”
“The Marauder’s Map,” Jisung whispered with stars in his eyes.
“What is this? Open it!”
Jisung did as told and both of you were dumbfounded by what you discovered. A map of the whole school, including the secret passages that are hidden within its walls and the location of every person in the grounds, portrayed by a dot. This map, a true masterpiece, within your hands was a disaster for everyone else.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿ฺ
Three years later, you knew everything you could possibly have learned about the school. Neither Ravenclaw or Slytherin could win the house cup as long as you both were in Hogwarts. No matter the amount of effort Seungmin, Changbin and Minho would make to earn points, they could never make up for your wickedness. You did earn points sometimes in classes when you answered correctly to a teacher’s question and you weren’t the only one to lose points either so you didn’t feel so bad. You did lose more points than you earned but shhh. Let's not talk about that.
One day, on your way to the lake after lunch, Gryffindor Jaemin called your name so you stopped in your tracks and waited for him to join you.
“Hey, Y/N, I was wondering if you would like to study with me after class? For transfiguration.”
Uh. Jaemin has never been your friend and the most he ever said to you before now was “Get out of my way, filthy Slytherin.” the second day of your first year. Therefore you were startled, to say the least. Plus you wanted to study with Jisung, not some acquaintance you never talked to and weren’t interested in.
“Not really, I already have plans for tonight. Thank you for the offer though.”
You tried to sound as nice as you could but without much convection and left before he could reply. A few meters away, Jisung saw the whole scene and wondered what you had told him because he looked displeased. He joined you and you smiled at him before intertwining fingers.
The next day, Jisung and you were sunbathing with a nice autumn breeze on a bench in the courtyard when someone came in front of you, preventing the sun from warming your face. You opened your eyes and were met with Jaemin and a few of his friends.
“Can you move please?” you politely demanded, since you didn’t want to start anything.
“Are you dating him?” he asked, pointing at your best friend.
“No?”
“Then why did you reject my date proposal?”
Oh my god. Really? You were going to put him in place but Jisung’s mocking laugh stopped you.
“Really dude? You want to do this here?”
“I don’t think you’re in the conversation.” Jaemin’s glare didn’t please you.
“Should’ve asked to talk to Y/N in person then instead of creating unnecessary drama.”
Jaemin looked like he was going to throw hands so you spoke before it went too far.
“Guys, let’s stay civil here. I rejected you cause I’m not interested in you, there's no other motive. Now can you let us be?” His friends laughed at him and you could swear you heard one of them say something about a bet.
“Wait, asking Y/N out on a date was a bet?”
“And what about it?” Jaemin said cockily. Jisung was fuming and you were disgusted by the boy.
“Can’t you respect people? No one deserves to be a bet’s victim. You guys suck.”
He scoffed. “I’m sure you’re the type of guy who hides when it comes to fight.”
“Try me.” You knew by his glare that he wasn’t playing anymore. Jaemin was smirking but not for long.
“Let’s duel.”
Jisung was so fast to put his wand out, it surprised Jaemin. You tried to stop them but it was useless because their pride was at stake.
Before you could blink, Jaemin ended up mouthless and you heard a woman screaming but you didn’t listen, being amazed by the spell’s effect. Jisung took your hand and ran through the corridors, hearing the professor yelling she would remove twenty points from his house.
You managed to catch your breath while Jisung was answering an easy riddle —for him— to enter the Ravenclaw common room.
“I can’t believe you really did it.”
“He challenged me! You know I can’t say no to that,” Jisung sighed.
“I know. That was brilliant, by the way.” You sat on one of the comfortable chairs like you lived there —it wasn’t totally false— and you were followed by your partner-in-crime.
“Thanks! I practiced this one a lot, I couldn’t wait to use it for real.”
“I hope you didn’t do anything foolish,” said a voice behind you.
“Oh, Seungmin! I didn’t see you there.” Jisung turned around and smiled. Seungmin was reading a book in a blue armchair. He closed it and gave his attention to his friends. “I hope you’re not hoping too hard.”
“How much?”
“What do you mean?” Jisung’s innocent act didn’t work since the second time he used it but he was still trying three years later.
“Twenty,” you answered. Seungmin gave Jisung a look and he shrugged.
“It was fun and I don’t regret it.” He folded his arms and pouted like a grounded kid.
“Of course you don’t,” Seungmin loudly exhaled.
“You’ll make it up for it, won’t you?”
Seungmin sighed deeply. He felt like he had to work twice as hard to win back the points Jisung made their house lose but it was never enough. “I always do, but don’t you think you should calm down a bit?”
“Absolutely not. There’s still a lot of rules Y/N and I haven't broken yet, so many adventures and exciting moments to live.” Jisung smiled widely at you while Seungmin implored you with his eyes to stop him. Your gaze went from one to another without really knowing what to say and before you could, someone sat next to Jisung and typed on the table.
“What mischief are you going to commit today pals?” It was Chani, one of the chasers of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team and a fellow 4th year.
“Hey Chani! Already done, Jaemin asked for a duel and I used Oscausi on him.”
“Oh I don’t know th-” Chani started.
“OSCAUSI? Jisung, are you crazy?” Seungmin got up so fast he startled everyone, including others around him.
“Don’t worry, he got his mouth back,” Jisung waved his hand with indifference, Jaemin deserved it after all. “Eventually.”
“You’re going to be the death of me, really.” Jisung and Chani just laughed at that and Jaemin unofficially became your target for a lot of future mischief.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
“I haven’t lost any points in days, maybe I should start to pay attention in arithmancy class.”
It was this time of the year where the air was so cold you just stayed in your or Jisung’s common room and studied to prevent boredom.
Jisung pulled his robe hood over his head and gently slapped you in the back of the head. “Transfigure this quill into a rat and put it onto Jaemin’s head.”
“I mean, yeah, that’s a funnier idea.”
You lost ten points for it but you found it so fun you were back on track until the next cold day.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
You always loved the Ravenclaw common room. You didn’t dislike the Slytherin one, but it was cold and unfriendly when you weren’t a Slytherin yourself. Plus you loved warm places. What you liked the most about the Ravenclaw common room was the domed ceiling painted with stars. You could literally watch it for hours until having to go to your own dorm to sleep. If you weren’t friends with Jisung, you probably would never have been able to lose yourself in the stars because you weren’t that close with Seungmin or Chani and you didn’t really know any other Ravenclaws.
You were currently lying down on one of the couches, your head on Jisung’s lap, helping each other revise (yes, it happens!) for the history of magic test about the goblin rebellions you would have the next day, more concentrated on the stars than the subject. It was calming and it helped you stress less about the tests.
“Where’s Muffin?” you asked out of nowhere.
It made Jisung flinch but when didn't he? Just like she knew her name, she appeared next to you, purring loudly. You put her on your belly and patted her head lovingly.
“Don’t forget she’s my cat,” whined Jisung as he closed his book and put it on the coffee table next to the couch.
You smirked. “Don’t be jealous cause she loves me more.”
The elegant Siberian cat got up and rubbed herself against your best friend’s chest, waving her tail on your face.
“You were saying?”
You rolled your eyes and opened your transfiguration book which was on the floor. It was going to be a long night and you’ll probably have to go back to your dorm after curfew. Bless the marauder’s map in those moments.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
The Quidditch match between Ravenclaw and Slytherin was coming up and Jisung had to practice more than usual as the seeker. He was going to play against Changbin after all. They both were really good so you wondered who would win the match. Gryffindor had won the first match against Slytherin and Ravenclaw won the one against Hufflepuff thanks to Jisung’s agility and speed.
You always followed Jisung at his training, it was the only moments he wasn’t trying to break the rules. He was pretty serious about Quidditch actually, even if after each training since your 3rd year, you went to drink a mug of butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks with Chani. It was like tradition.
The day of the match, you cheered on your team and your friends, so basically both teams. The competitive mindset of the two seekers could be felt from afar, everybody knew the match was going to be intense. At the end, the score was 350-200 for Slytherin, because Yugyeom, one of the Slytherin beaters, sent a bludger on Jisung’s broom, causing him to spin around and allowing Changbin to catch the golden snitch. It was a good game and Jisung didn’t fall so it was a double win.
Of course you would say that cause you're a Slytherin.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
Ravenclaws shared the defence against the dark arts class with Slytherins so, naturally, Jisung and you were seated together.
“Hello everyone! Today’s lesson is about acromentulas.” As the professor proceeded with his lecture, you felt your strong partner-in-crime shiver in his seat. You looked at him and were surprised by how much he looked terrified of acromentulas, not that you could blame him, these giant spiders were scary as hell.
“You okay there, bro?” He didn’t answer and was so pale you thought he was going to faint. You tried to comfort him but he was frozen.
The professor, not giving a care about what was happening in front of his face, decided to show some photos of acromentulas and as if it didn’t trigger Jisung enough, he eventually showed a real one in a big cage. From what you’ve seen in your books, it was nearly a teen so it wasn’t that big compared to his adult size but it was still big enough to scare the hell out of Jisung. He literally fell off his chair and the sound made the professor pay attention.
“Jisung? What happened?”
“He’s really scared of acromentulas, sir. Can you please put it away?”
“Oh. Yes, of course.”
While the professor finally put it away, you helped Jisung sit back.
“You okay?”
“Not really. That shit’s so grim.”
“I know, take deep breaths. It’s gone, everything’s alright.”
His breathing was unsteady for a few moments but he quickly got his composure back.
“I’m sorry Jisung, didn’t mean to frighten you. Class’ dismissed. Except you, Jisung.”
Everyone left except Seungmin, who checked on his friend, Jisung and you.
The professor went to his office and came back with chocolate.
“Here, eat this, you’ll feel better. I didn’t know it was this horrifying for you.”
He accepted the chocolate and ate it slowly. “It’s okay, you couldn’t know. Arachnophobia isn’t cool.”
“I won’t show any spider in this class from now on, I promise.”
“Thank you sir.”
“You can go now, drink water and rest.”
As you left class, Jisung whispered in your ear. “I don’t need water, I need a good butterbeer.”
You both chuckled and, after saying bye to Seungmin who certainly left to go to the library to do his homework, went to the Three Broomsticks using the secret passage beneath the one-eyed statue by the stairs of your last class to drink one or two mugs of butterbeer.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
Two months before the end of the year, Jisung had the baddest yet boldest idea so far. It was remarkable how he never failed to impress you.
“I’m going to use this potion on Jaemin, he’ll definitely leave you alone after that.”
“He left me alone after I put a rat onto his head but suit yourself, bro.”
You were hiding behind stairs on the third floor, waiting for Jaemin to walk down. Jisung was holding his flask tight in his hand. When you heard people talking, you discreetly looked up and saw Jaemin. Jisung didn’t hesitate and before you could react, his flask was emptied on Jaemin’s head. His hair slowly stood on end but it wasn’t all, it also turned into candy apple red. He somehow added Colovaria to the hair-rising potion and you were about to congratulate him when you got a glimpse of Minho upstairs.
Jaemin left, horrified, to the nearest bathroom to see the damage while Minho was casually walking down the stairs. Jisung lost his smile when he saw him and swallowed hard. Once arrived at your height, he opened his mouth.
“Rules are put in place to prevent hundreds of magically gifted hormonal hazards from accidentally turning themselves into sharks or losing an eye, or provoking the wrath of a giant spider, or blowing themselves up, or whatever. But here you are, trying to break every single one of them.” You almost felt relieved he didn’t scream at you.
“Look, I’m stupid, okay? And stupid people do stupid things. That’s a fact.”
You could have laughed at his excuse if Minho wasn’t staring at both of you like he was about to end you. He wasn’t generally scary but he was a prefect so when you did something wrong… well, let’s say you better not be seen by him.
“Do you use this lame excuse every time you do shit?”
“My other excuse is that it was Y/N’s idea but no one buys it.”
You looked at him in disbelief. Of course no one bought it, you were more like his sidekick than the mastermind.
“Not surprising. Anyway, fifteen points from Ravenclaw. I would have taken twenty but adding a transfiguration spell to a potion was really clever.”
He asked Jisung for a favor, talking privately in the nearest classroom for a few minutes. Then Minho left and Jisung came back to you with a big smile and you high-fived him. The Marauders Map usually prevented incidents like this and he wasn’t near this place when you last checked the Map. Minho literally came out of nowhere.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
On a fine and warm day, as Jisung and you successfully pranked Jaemin for the umpteenth time that year, he turned to you still laughing.
“You know what’s the strength of a duet? It’s to be two.”
“Thank you for your encouraging words. I now know you need me,” you winked.
The laughter slowly died down and the atmosphere became somehow serious. He sat on a bench and you joined him.
“Are you kidding? I’ll always need you.”
“Always? Sounds like a really long time,” you chuckled, more to tease him and put aside the fact that you need him just as much.
“Just wishing we’ll stay together forever,” he blurted out, his eyes concentrating on his shoes.
“You’re sweet. I would love that too.”
He lifted his head and looked you in the eye.
“Really? No need for the Imperius Curse then?” You blinked a few times, about to smack him when he smiled wildly. “Just kidding, I would never.”
“Anyway, go train for the match against Gryffindor, wouldn’t want Mark to catch the snitch before you, would you?”
“Won’t happen.”

Wenclair hogwarts headcannons!!!
- Enid is a Gryffindor, even though everyone ( including Enid) thought she was going to be sorted into Hufflepuff.
- Wednesday is in Slitherin and she could not be more pleased about it. Her parents were both in Ravenclaw and wanted her to be to. The hat considered putting her there but she refused.
- low key Dorlene coded.
- Wednesday hates Quidditch with a passion, but she still comes to every one of Enid's games (she's one of the Gryfindor chasers)
- Enid came to Hogwarts in 4th year because before then, werewolves weren't let in.
- Wednesday and the Nightshades place bets on where Enid will be sorted and only Wednesday is right.
- Enid's favourite subjects are charms and care of magical creatures. (Idk why it just seems like her thing)
- Wednesday's favourite subjects are defense against the dark arts and transfiguration because they are the only subjects she finds challenging (plus she loves using transfiguration as a form of torture. And she loves to duel)
- Speaking of duels, Enid and Wednesday have a lot of very gay ones.
- Wednesday sneaks Thing into the castle by transfiguring him into a toad.
- Enemies to mutually respecting one another to friends to idiots-in-love to lovers.
- They start hating eachother when they are paired up in potions and they descover they have VERY different ways of doing things.
- They start mutually respecting one another when someone hurts Eugene and they both hex them at the same time and spend many nights in detention together.
- They become friends when someone floods the Slitherin dorms and they have to room with the the Gryfindors. (AnD tHeY wErE rOoMmAtEs)
- They become idiots-in-love when the teachers figure out how to undo the spell and they find out they really miss eachother.
- They become lovers when Enid asks Wednesday to the Yule Ball.
- They both slay at the Yule Ball. (Wednesday dance scene)
- Did I just write the whole plot for a Wednesday Hogwarts au?
(btw, I do not in any way support jkr, I'm very much not cis myself so I definitely don't support terfs :) )

What is your Hogwarts house?
I don't think that's considered a question in good taste anymore lmao.
And, actually, I never liked it much even as a kid, because sorting discourse did not adhere to the framework shown in the text. It consistently drifted to rigorous application of the ruleset laid out by the hat in its little song, which was blatantly called out as a convenient simplification about one page after the formula was originally presented.
Like. The fact that each cohort is broken down into four roughly equal pods and lineage is clearly a major determining factor, as is personal preference, is made clear very early. This is a cultural institution, that shapes the characters who grow within it quite as much as it's assigned based on their innate traits, and within the framework of which people actively look for identity elements to define themselves by.
People in my high school would be sorting adult fictional characters and doing elaborate balancing of their True Natures as revealed by their various plot events and defining life choices and patterns of behavior in their own generally dramatic canons and I'd be like. Okay, what do you think they were like when they were eleven though.
What were their values at eleven? What parts of their potential to be Like That were developed enough to show up on a psychic scan by a sapient hat, at eleven? What backstories are we assuming they're coming into this from; this man is a duke from fantasy medieval europe are we going to analogize him to a posh normie family, or the magic snobs, or are we dimensional-teleporting his baby self into wizard school?
Look, assigning Hogwarts houses to grown-ass adults on the basis of their adult developed identities doesn't make sense, that is very clearly not how anything works, this is a child-sorting algorithm. You have to apply it to children or it's invalid.
...also I was a Ravenclaw. I knew this. Everyone who had ever met me knew this. Any and every online quiz I was convinced to take knew this. I was so boring. I could not even make a serious case for my being one of the people who'd argue my way into another category I was minorly qualified for, or get there on family values or something, because I didn't want to not be a dumb nerd and my family is also dumb nerds. I was such an easy sort it was no fun at all, I was a walking stereotype.
It was embarrassing, is what it was. I was a flat character with no depth, rip child me. It was like if you could fail astrology by adhering precisely to your horoscope.
(My younger sisters wanted to be Gryffindor but consistently tested Hufflepuff and vice versa respectively, and I do not at this time remember which was which. The tests that gave you percentile rankings did give them minors in the ones they wanted tho.)
Anyway looking back on this in reaction to your ask, I find myself reflecting that House affiliation actually worked very much like gender, in that the way it was assigned was treated in-story as being based on absolute inherent qualities that defined a whole person, but quite clearly per the text actually worked by finding a schema you had an acceptable percent overlap with at a young age, and then setting you up to be perceived and instructed through that filter for the rest of your life.
The affiliation had meaning! But it was mostly meaning derived from the affiliation, and its social weight.
The ability of characters to find the sometimes deeply hidden Potential to live up to the person they aspired to be, thereby retroactively justifying the Sorting they had cajoled their way into, is like a major story element, you know?
I feel like this is yet another one of those places where rowling is a fairly gifted drawer of engaging caricatures; where when she was drawing on her actual lived experience (as opposed to hearsay and stereotype) to create something imitating that thing (in this case Belonging To Category) by intuition, the result would have nicely proportioned parts and some solid symbolic details, and work on an internal level more-or-less consistently, if not necessarily according to any strict logic.
Rather than being realistic it had a feeling of reality, which is in itself a perfectly reasonable way to approach light fiction. I often find myself wishing I could work in this more gestural manner sometimes, instead of drilling relentlessly down to detail.
The trouble is that things like those verisimilitudinous gaps between what people do and how they interpret their own doing, which lend the setting a great deal of dynamism, are only sometimes intentional, and the longer she extends any one bit and the more seriously she attempts to take it, the more likely she is to fall into the gaps and loudly deny that she has done any such thing, while digging herself into a pit of stupid.

Hogwarts Legacy Incorrect Quotes Part 3 (feat. my Hufflepuff!MC, Ellie)
Send help, I can't seem to stop. That's waaay too enjoyable. MC is steadily evolving into a gremlin "The Polyjuice Plot" quest revealed her to be.
Leander: But what about Ellie?
Natty: Don't worry so much about her.
Garreth: I once watched her fall down 5 flights of stairs, stand up, and keep casting Revelio like nothing happened.
***
Sebastian, Poppy & Natty: In our defense, we were left unsupervised.
Amit: Wasn’t Ellie with you the whole time?
Ellie: In my defense, I was also left unsupervised.
***
Poppy: What’s your biggest fear?
Ellie [after clearing Aranshire from spiders]: I am incredibly arachnophobic.
Poppy *under her breath*: You don’t want spiders to get married?
***
Ellie: So, Poppy is no longer allowed in the Room of Requirement.
Leander: Why?
Ellie: Because I've caught her trying to train Nifflers to fight five times in a row.
Poppy *arms crossed and pouting*: You'll be thanking me when the third Niffler battalion saves your ass.
Ellie: Why would I need Nifflers if I have my Chomping Cabbages?
Leander [an avid fan of ferocious plants]: That's a good point actually.
***
[Someone's trying to trespass into Ravenclaw common room is becoming one of my favourite plots as well as Chomping Cabbages]
Ravenclaw knocker: What's worse than a heartbreak?
Poppy: Stepping on a Kneazle's tail and not being able to explain that you're sorry.
[The door opens]
Ravenclaw students: How do they do that? First Leander, now Poppy. Who's next, Venomous Tentacula?
Ellie & Leander [who are already inside]: Tentaculas can't walk. Beware of the Chomping Cabbages!
***
Leander: My life is a little too much panic and not enough disco.
Ellie: My life is a little too much fall and not enough boy.
Garreth: My life is a little too much chemical and not enough romance.
Poppy: My life is a little too much imagination and not nearly enough dragons.
***
[In the goblin mines]
Ellie, to Amit as they cast Disillusionment spell: First rule of battle, my dear friend... don’t ever let them know where you are.
Sebastian, somewhere in the distance: WHOO-HOO! I’M RIGHT HERE! I’M RIGHT HERE! YOU WANT SOME O’ ME?! YEAH YOU DO! COME ON! COME ON! AAAAAH! Whoo-hoo!
Ellie: 'Course, there’re other schools of thought.
***
[After the quest in the goblin mines]
Duncan, to Ellie: One universe, nine planets, seven seas, seven continents, and I had the unfortunate luck of meeting you.
Ellie: Hey, that’s not very nice-
Everett: There are only eight planets, you Puffskein Dunkein!
Amit, appearing from nowhere: VIVA LA PLUTO, FUCK YOU!
Ellie, rolling on the floor and laughing: That's my boy!
***
Poppy: Ellie learned how to fold origami penguins from Amit the other day. I told her, “I feel a little bad for the penguins, it’s hot here”, and she immediately cast Glacius on them.
***
Leander, to Garreth: If you see Ellie, give her this message *makes a neutral face*
Leander: She'll know what it means.
*later*
Garreth: Oh, and Leander said to give you a message.
Garreth: *makes a neutral face*
Ellie: Oh no. The neutral face of displeasure.
***
Ellie: Judging our life choices, I really hope we all make it to adulthood!
Natty: That’s a great prayer.
Poppy: A needed one.
Sebastian: A needed one indeed.
***
[The squad is bored as hell during History of Magic lesson]
Garreth: What is the most illegal thing you can do with one galleon?
Ellie: Exchange it for knuts, put them all in a sock and beat someone to death with it.
Leander: No more hanging out with Sebastian for you! He's a bad influence! You're grounded for till O.W.L.s!
Ellie: For till O.W.L.s?!
Leander: For till O.W.L.s!!!
Sebastian*offended but taking notes*: That's too cruel even for me!
Leander: Ellie, is this why you've been to Azkaban?
Ominis & Sebastian: You've been to Azkaban?!
Other students: Calm downess, relaxation, chill out and stop screaming...
***
Leander: How long do you reckon it’ll be until Amit finally snaps and commits a murder so that he can fit in with the rest of your friends?
Ellie: I’ve been going through this year assuming it’s already happened at some point and it’s just that no one was ever able to trace it back to him.
***
Ellie: Caffeine no longer keeps me awake while I complete the trials, so instead I have Leander periodically send me howlers saying ‘we need to talk.’
Ellie: It gives me the right amount of adrenaline and fear I need to keep going.
***
Sebastian: Just trust me. Have I ever put you in an unsafe or uncomfortable situation?
Ellie & Ominis: All the time.
Sebastian: Then you should be used to it by now.

the first room draco malfoy sleeps in after inheriting malfoy manor is the one he shares with astoria.
it's further from scorpius's room than he likes, but it's the biggest and has the nicest windows, and they make do. it's the room with the big walk-in closet and the window seat where astoria spends hours reading, both to herself and out loud for her family.
it's the room where draco finds his wife and son playing board games - both magical and muggle - together at the end of the day. he doesn't know much about the muggle things, and neither does astoria, but it's always fun to figure them out.
this room is the one with the big king-sized bed that holds all three malfoys on nights when scorpius has bad dreams, or even those where he simply wanted more time with his parents.
it's the room that draco takes for granted.
the second room, the one he moves to after astoria's death, is across the hall from his son. it's small and cramped, previously more of a closet than a bedroom. it's a perfect place for a broken heart.
the bed is smaller, a queen, but it still fits scorpius on the nights when they need to have a cry together. the wardrobe in the corner is tiny, but draco's clothes never took up much space anyway. the floor doesn't have enough space for draco and scorpius to stretch out on the infrequent nights scorpius pokes his head in with a chess board, so instead of games, all the room sees is tears. that's okay, draco thinks. he deserves it.
beginning in their eighth year, blaise and pansy had some sort of friends with benefits arrangement. draco never truly understood it, nor did he try to, but the whole thing came crashing down when scorpius was ten and pansy arrived at the manor in a state after finding out she was pregnant.
leilani grows up alongside scorpius, a younger sister of sorts who adores her "older brother" more than anything. pansy and blaise are both busy with work at the ministry, but pansy - a journalist - has far less structure than office worker blaise, which leaves him as the one to bring leliani over the most often.
draco can't pinpoint the moment their friendship turns into something more. he can only remember not feeling anything other than joy the first time they kissed, underneath a mistletoe during scorpius's seventh year. he can also remember pansy storming into the room right after and yelling "i knew it" before tackling them into a hug.
the third and final bedroom draco sleeps in is the one with blaise in it. it's just next door to his first room, where his first bed is collecting dust as it has been since astoria's final night in it. this room is slightly smaller, and its closet took a bit of charming to fit all of their clothes, but it feels perfect. not better than his room with astoria, not worse, just different. draco wouldn't want it any other way.
leilani gets the room across the hall, which is huge - almost bigger than scorpius's - and very fancy and perfect for spoiling her in. scorpius is twenty by the time there's a new ring on draco's left hand, and he drags albus potter all around his childhood home by one hand while a ten-year-old leilani takes hold of the other.
"i bet she's a gryffindor," draco whisper-shouts as he stands between blaise and pansy to watch. pansy gags.
"she was raised by three slytherins," pansy says. "there's no way, right?"
"scorp was a ravenclaw," blaise points out.
a year later, two weeks after scorpius's wedding and the night of leilani's first day at hogwarts, they get their answer.
"they have always been close," pansy says with a frown.
"i told you so," blaise replies, grinning as he pulls draco in with one arm and pansy in with the other.
the bed in draco and blaise's room is still a queen, the same size as the one in draco's second bedroom, but it fits three adults just fine.

thinking about a harry potter au for the spirit animals gang... what if they were wizards and got into shenanigans
the sorting hat declares conor a hufflepuff with no delay. conor is more than happy to be in the house of the just and loyal, though befuddled as to how a lowly muggle-born like him ended up at such a school at all. he misses his family's sheep, his dogs, the rolling hills of scotland, normal things, normal life.
abeke's house is a little less clear. the hat figures she would make a good hufflepuff, but ultimately decides she's bound for ravenclaw with a mind and soul like hers. she still writes unanswered letters to her wizard father and non-magical sister, unaware or perhaps unwilling to accept that they were glad to be rid of her.
meilin gets sent to slytherin, which she is quite pleased at. it's the superior house, really. her pureblood status and wealthy upbringing gives her a judgemental outlook on the rest of her peers until she befriends conor, rollan and eventually abeke. disturbingly, as the school years drag on, she begins to feel less and less in control of her own body. she is susceptible to long blackouts, and awakes in unknown locations doing unexplainable things. she fears she may be losing her mind.
rollan is a gryffindor through and through. he was held back a year at one point (becoming so preoccupied with a friend's deteriorating health that he couldn't properly attend to his studies), so he ends up in the same year as conor, abeke and meilin. he still doesn't do so well at school because he's spending most of his time flying on his broom. he is the first one to catch on to the trouble brewing in their midst, though, intuitive as he is.
shane is a textbook slytherin (clever, resourceful, ambitious, good leader) so he's with meilin, albeit two years above her. he... seems okay. he's decent, knowledgeable and kind. there's just something unidentifiable beneath the surface. something dark.
devin/worthy is a gryffindor, something that only makes sense after his journey of self-improvement. as devin, he is simply insufferable. rollan and conor's worst nightmare.
shane and abeke, despite their different houses, become the best of friends. in fact, they are each other's only friends for quite some time. shane teaches her how to fly, and abeke teaches him how to handle certain magical creatures. shane also spends a lot of time teaching abeke various spells, some more questionable than others. abeke tampers down her doubts about these. she trusts he is good at heart.
lenori, the divination professor, takes an interest in conor for reasons she won't say. conor has cryptic visions from time to time, about a serpent in the dungeons and a boy in a mask, but he tries to keep those to himself.
the plot twist is that shane was delving into the dark arts all along and is growing to be a powerful dark wizard. he's working for someone who needs his skills...
his followers (the conquerors, in canon) are the death eaters and they all bear the mark. despite this, they are all under a foul imperius curse -- and no matter how total shane's authority seems to be, they whisper he is under the very same enchantment.
meilin's increasingly odd behaviour reveals that she is a victim of this curse as well. the worst part is, no one knows who casts it...
all of this is happening when the gang are like. 13-15. the four really only became friends in their third year, and that was when things started to pick up speed.
the great beasts keep their canon forms in this au. they're like their own class of magical, god-like beings. some have closer relations to wizarding society than others. gerathon has lived underneath hogwarts for decades (taking the place of the basilisk).
the people who eventually form the redcloaks (shane included) are animagi gone wrong, i.e., they did the process incorrectly and ended up as wonky half-human, half-animals with no ability to transform into either form. the whole lot of them were secretly death eaters who sought to master the skill to disguise themselves, but they failed. miserably. tragically.
and naturally, the characters' patronuses appear as their spirit animals! except they have more agency and sentience as patronuses. the four are the only wizards whose patronuses have taken the form of the great beasts who died in the first wizarding war. it fulfills a prophecy. briggan, uraza, jhi and essix are gone from the world, but their spirits live on in the four heroes' patronuses.
if a character is not marked in spirit animals canon, then either the spell is too advanced for them to perform or their patronus is incorporeal... with a few exceptions.
for years, shane can only produce a silver wisp of a patronus. it is only after his betrayal of abeke, during the war of his own making against the rest of the wizarding world, that his patronus takes shape -- and he is humbled before the familiar figure of a leopard.

You are a terrific writer, Eternal Summer being my fav. I just discovered tumblr recently and can’t wait to ask you some(many) things.
I know ES is a SMUT fav but the character development, tension, emotions that it invokes with respect to friendship, love, and small plots is fantastic as well. I believe the only part which I hoped to have skipped is James relationship with Adelaide, hahaha. Also, I feel Eddie is very perceptive; he probably realized Jily chemistry before most and two instances that stood out to me 1) him breaking up with Lily 2) bringing Lily to James after the attack.
I was sort of disappointed that James had no clue of Lily’s struggle of feeling out of place until he talked to Eddie. For someone in love with Lily was he that oblivious to how she felt about being at Hogwarts amongst the growing tensions?
I would love to read a prompt about how James finds out from one of the girls about Lily considering to leave Hogwarts at the end of sixth year in midst of blood purity tension while James is still ignoring her. Something on the lines of “she said is it worth coming back next year and what (or who) for”
Hi, thank you so much!! 🥰 Re: your disappointment, I'll explain my perspective below the cut:
Keep in mind that ES is being rewritten, so some details and sequences surrounding the Adelaide storyline are changing, but here are my thoughts based on what I remember from ES 1.0 and my view/intention of the story.
To start, I want to clarify that James's conversation with Eddie is primarily about her dynamic with Adelaide, not blood purity tensions as a whole. James knows Lily faces overt bullying and harassment from blood purists—he's comforted her multiple times by this point in the story, so he of course knows it weighs on her. But he also knows that Lily is confident, strong, self-assured, and incredibly stoic about it all. She doesn't want to be seen as a victim, and James doesn't see her as one either. She fights back, she's sassy, she's popular and successful in school, she holds her own. There's no question in any of their minds (Lily, James, their friends, Eddie, the wider social circles of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw) that Lily (and all Muggle borns) belongs at Hogwarts for her magical abilities and deserves to be there as much as anyone. James especially has great respect for her and is unequivocally on her side against their common enemy of Voldemort supporters.
What James doesn't know about is the underhanded, subtle bullying that one of their own Housemates is doing to Lily—and that's what Eddie opens his eyes about. Adelaide is a character foil to Lily. She's a textbook mean girl, and it's a very backhanded kind of mean girl, not necessarily overt. Adelaide's not hexing Lily in the hallway, she's gossiping and lying and being catty and trying to steal Lily's man. And when she's not doing it in front of James (because she wants James to think highly of her), and Lily's not saying anything because she doesn't want to give Adelaide the satisfaction of knowing she's angry/bothered, there's no reason for James to know that kind of stuff is going on. He's not a mind-reader, nor does Lily expect him to be.
The Adelaide arc is also about James's loyalty as much as it's about Lily's struggle with jealousy and dealing with a sneaky mean girl. We know the importance of loyalty to James from canon, and Adelaide is a blind spot for him. She's in Gryffindor; their parents are in the same social circle; they have history together. He's sort of automatically extended his loyalty to her as a person on his "side" and once that's his status quo, it's even harder for him to see her as a perpetrator. James expects Slytherins to be cruel, but he doesn't expect girls in his own house to treat Lily poorly. And it's not that James is/would be in denial about it if shown proof—it's that the thought literally doesn't cross his mind until the proof is shown. Eddie breaking it down for James (and then Lily opening up to James about it) is that "proof."
The importance of this for James is to understand the deeper layer of psychological warfare going on. He gets the first, overt layer of fighting Slytherins—he participates in it. And I think he's even aware of the "mean girl" dynamic amongst girls to an extent when it's purely about dating/jealousy. But Adelaide's conflating the two in a way he didn't realize was happening because she was doing it in that mean girl way when he wasn't around.
And wrt Lily's feelings, I think it's important to highlight the difference between Lily feeling something versus a mean girl making her feel something else. Meaning, ES!Lily's default is to feel like she belongs. She doesn't feel like an outcast. She feels like a person on the side of a war where all her friends are too. From the very first time she learned about magic from Severus, she felt welcomed in it—he enthusiastically brought her up to speed about the magical world ("You've got loads of magic"), and then she made friends and became popular at school, and became one of Slughorn's known favorites for her skill and charm.
(This is also why, while I appreciate you sending a prompt, I don't feel a connection with this particular one. Given my interpretation of the state of the war in ES and my characterization of Lily, I don't think she would have considered dropping out of Hogwarts. I actually think she feels very safe there because the atmosphere that Dumbledore, McGonagall, and the other teachers have fostered (not to mention her friends and wider social circle) is that the Slytherin/Voldemort supporters are not only in the wrong but are very much the minority. I see seventh year—when Voldemort's priming his young recruits for exiting Hogwarts and encouraging acts of terror—as a turning point where Hogwarts itself starts becoming more dangerous.)
Of course, the reality is that there is still a lot she doesn't know simply because she didn't grow up in that world, but most people in her life (her girlfriends, Eddie, even James and Euphemia, in the meeting in Dumbledore's office) are naturally kind and patient with explaining new information to her. But Adelaide does the opposite—she actively tries to undermine Lily and make her feel bad about herself, much as the Slytherins do. It leaves Lily feeling a lot of anger and resentment, plus, because Adelaide has history with James, there's jealousy woven in there too. But because Lily's a strong, stoic, confident Gryffindor, she's also too proud to let Adelaide know that Adelaide's succeeding in getting under Lily's skin, so she puts on an extra brave face when dealing with her.
All this ultimately leads to Jily growing closer because Lily finally reaches a point where she fully opens up to James, so they can talk about the deeper insecurities and issues Adelaide's presence and actions have created between them, and ultimately come out of it as an even more united front than before.

Hogwarts Houses (RadDan°TM) I think some TMA characters might've been in very randomly selected
Jon Sims - Slytherin - specifically because he would have been a Ravenclaw except he had that defining moment with Mr. Spider which made him want knowledge to prevent being so powerless, as many traumatized
Graham Folger - Ravenclaw - bro took a criminology course for funsies do I need to say more?
Julio Hernandez - Hufflepuff - guy seems like a solid, down to earth, dependable person
Father Burroughs - Gryffindor - he's got good intentions but his righteousness blinded him to his straying from his chosen path
NotThem - Hufflepuff - while closer to a magical beast than human, NotThem is patient and persistent in how they stalk their victims, whose magical properties works very hard, and has the hidden teeth of a badger which very few ever see. The Hat only sorts according to the head it was placed on and would let NotThem matriculate.
Dominic Swain - Ravenclaw - theater nerd that knows a little bit about a lot of things, certainly enough to spy the diamond in the rough of a Leitner book
Martin Blackwood - Hufflepuff - no one knew why since he didn't talk much and always had his nose in a book and kept to himself in a Ravenclawish way but, even though he's a muggle born, he had a roaring side business during the summer selling easy-to-disguise-as-Muggle potions to pay for his mother's live-in carer while he's away at school.
Stoker brothers - Gryffindor - idk they give off Sirius mixed with Weasleys vibes
Tova McHugh - Slytherin - the whole taking but balancing with good deeds is giving upper class/super rich it's okay because look at my philanthropy eat the rich vibes. Definitely a pure blood or pure blood adjacent that quietly believes in that shit but, similar to Narcissa, does have a wall she hits when she says enough

(Ok random thing that you’ll leave up to interpretation!)
The welcome home characters as professors at hogwarts basic headcanons? Like what kind of class would each of them be teaching? (Frank would be the next Snape there you cannot say that wouldn’t happen.)
(Maybe if you would like to what kind of house would each of them be in, again leaving that for you to make the user’s interpretation).
Helllloooo! This was an incredibly fun prompt to think about, thank you for sending it in! I’d love to do some more Welcome Home-Harry Potter crossover stuff in the future, actually, if you have any more ideas!
There’s no particular order to these, but I tried to make them make as much sense as I could.
Enjoy! This is gonna be real long, so strap yourself in!
Welcome Home Characters as Professors/Staff at Hogwarts
Julie Joyful - 100% Herbology (Hufflepuff). Julie would 100% be the Herbology professor- she’s described as having a garden of her own and able to talk to plants, after all. I imagine this would translate to her having a very close connection to the plants- students are unsure if she’s actually talking to them, or if she’s just really good at telling when a plant needs more water or new soil. I imagine she’d be a little bit of an airhead at times, probably misplacing any physical homework assignments (like essays) or even sometimes forgetting to lock up the greenhouses at night! She’s probably found a magical creature inside, eating some of her plants, on several occasions. Definitely has had to call Professor Frankly over to help her get them out! She’s better with hands-on assignments, and I imagine she'd be a very encouraging and kind professor.
Frank Frankly - Care of Magical Creatures (Ravenclaw). Oh I agree 100%, he’d be the Snape of this cast. This reminded me of the Potter Puppet Pals Snape puppet- he even has the unibrow and nose- and now I can’t get that voice out of my head when I picture Frank. Frank would be the harshest of the teachers and would be incredibly strict during all of his lessons. His class would be a mixture of hands-on learning and note-taking (so.. much… note taking…). It’s clear to anyone with eyes just how passionate Professor Frankly is about his subject, especially with how he tends to go into passionate, verbose speeches about the biology of the Bowtruckle (for example). This, unfortunately, tends to make him the target of the more rambunctious students who find his overreactions to disrespect quite funny. He’s the professor that sends most students to detention. Despite his grouchy demeanor, Professor Frankly is known to be good friends with Professor Joyful, much to every student’s surprise. They gossip in the teacher’s lounge.
Eddie Dear - Groundskeeper (Hufflepuff). Okay okay hear me out. Despite having a whole arts and crafts teaching segment, Eddie doesn’t entirely strike me as a teacher type. He’s the type that’s used to running around, delivering Mail and such to his neighbors. I can picture him being a very nice if a little clumsy, groundskeeper of Hogwarts. His favorite duty would be to care for the owls in the Owlery- putting him on good terms with the care of magical creatures professor- because he’s always had a bit of a passion for the Mail service. He could often be seen running around the school, taking care of incidents, and trying to reason with the ghosts (if Peeves still exists, Peeves would 100% take advantage of Eddie’s clumsy nature for his own amusement). Eddie would also probably be a lot easier to manipulate than Filch would, and would probably more often than not let students off with a warning rather than a very harsh punishment.
Wally Darling - Defense Against the Dark Arts (Ravenclaw). Before I get into his teaching style, hear me out with his house- Ravenclaw is described as being highly creative and curious individuals. Wally, despite not being the smartest, is quite the creative individual, and he’s described as being the one to learn with the viewer during episodes of Welcome Home. He gives me… Luna Lovegood vibes, in a way, where the way he thinks and looks at the world may be a little different from how others do, but in the end that doesn’t make him stupid. In terms of how he’d behave as a teacher, I picked Defense Against the Dark Arts because of his fandom-agreed tie to very dark themes and such. I imagine in a Harry Potter AU he’d have had many run-ins with dark creatures in the past, and now he uses his experiences to help others in the present. Like Lupin, most of his classes would be very hands-on and he’d be a very professional, maybe a little eccentric sort of teacher who’s very patient with all of his students. Outside of the class, however, he’s still quite patient but also gives off a much different sort of energy. It’s not unusual, for instance, to find the professor lying on the stairs for several minutes at a time after having- yet again- missed stepping over the disappearing step. He’s quite the oddball, but many students do enjoy him as a teacher overall.
Poppy Partridge - Not a professor, would work in the Hospital Wing in Madame Pomfry’s place. (Hufflepuff). There’s no way that Poppy would be a professor- all of those spells and potion ingredients make her much too nervous, no no no. Poppy would instead work in the hospital wing as Madame Partridge and would help cure students and staff of their ailments. Don’t get me wrong- the sight of a boneless arm or a bloody werewolf wound would certainly make her faint from fright at first. Once that initial shock has passed, however, I imagine her practically squawking with worry as she works to patch her patients right up! She might overdo it at times, such as bandaging up sprains so thickly that the limb resembles more of a bowling ball than a limb, but she means well. I imagine she’s not that great at magic, but very knowledgeable on different healing potions and herbs.
Howdy Pillar - Either a Hogsmeade Salesman or Transfiguration (Slytherin). So… Howdy, to be honest, I don’t picture being a teacher in the Harry Potter Universe. Rather, I can see him being the owner of a General Store/Bodega down in Hogsmeade. His store would include general foods and stuff, but he’d also sell plenty of magical touristy items, such as ‘Limited Time - Spellchecking - Quick Quotes Quill - 50% Off Today!’ Or postcards featuring moving images of a snowy day at Hogsmeade or the Hogwarts grounds. However! For the sake of this post, I shall choose a job at Hogwarts for him- and that job would be the Transfiguration Professor. The main- and really, only- reason for this would be that… he’s a caterpillar… and… and caterpillars turn into (‘transfigure’) butterflies… I didn’t say I was clever when I was making these aight? Maybe he’d even be an animagus and could turn into a Butterfly, that’d be a fun nod to that. Anywho! As a teacher, Howdy would be the type to do pop quizzes- not in the traditional sense, however! He’d be like an auctioneer- saying stuff like “Name the Incantation for Fiend Fyre- am I hearing Pestis? Pestis what?- Did I hear it over here- aaaand correct, Miss Granger, Pestis Incendium! Ten Points to Gryffindor!” As for his House, I chose Slytherin because of the natural ambition that comes with being a Slytherin- Howdy’s a business and salesman, he’s quite the ambitious fellow. Not all Slytherins are evil, after all.
Sally Starlet - Astronomy (Either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, I’m 50/50). Sally was difficult to choose- I wanted to pick something theater-related, but there aren’t any very important classes related to that. There are a few elective classes, but those felt rather boring. When I remembered the astronomy class, however, I was immediately like “HAHA! YOU!” Sally’s incredibly passionate about her subject- some may say even a little too passionate. Somewhat like Trelawney and her passion/beliefs in Divination, Sally cares a whole lot about the planets and both what they can teach you and just what they are in general. The way she talks about them at times makes it sound less like she’s talking about planets and more so talking about old friends. It’s quite strange, especially to those who aren’t a fan of her subject and/or her very flamboyant ways. Like Frank, some students purposely mess with Sally to get a dramatic reaction out of her, more so because her ego tends to get irritating than because she’s unfair in class. Sally’s generally a pretty decent professor, being split pretty evenly between hands-on work and homework, she’s just very boisterous about herself often enough that it gets on some students’ nerves.
Barnaby Beagle - Charms (Hufflepuff). Charms for some reason always struck me as a more ‘chill’ sort of magic- at least compared to a lot of the others. I imagine that as the Charms professor, Barnaby is most definitely an incredibly laid-back sort of teacher. He’s the type that doesn’t stress much about deadlines and homework- quite frankly, he could care less about homework and dislikes having to grade it. He generally would only give students the bare minimum required homework, and then the rest would all be taught in class. Though his class would teach the students more or less streamlined charms and such, if you meet him after class he’d 100% teach you what he refers to as the ‘funner’ charms and their many uses. This includes more prank-like charms, such as how to bewitch snowballs so they focus on a target and continuously throw themselves at them. Basically, he’d be the Weasley Twins of the staff.
Hope you enjoy my drabbles, I somewhat wanna mess around with these ideas more in the future but I’m unsure what I’d do lol
If you liked these and have any ideas, please feel free to send in some asks! I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts on the matter
