Flash Thompson president???
(HEAVY, LONG-SUFFERING SIGH)
So, starting in Venom (2018) #25, Eddie, Dylan, and the Venom Symbiote are pursued into an alternate universe by Virus (Mac Gargan) after the Maker (Ultimate!Reed Richards) was doing some fuckery with trying to get Earth-1610 back.
Maybe one of my friends who doesn't completely loathe the Cates run (@guessimabasicnerdgirlnow maybe you can help with this?) can give some better insight, but yes, there's a universe where Flash Thompson became president.
When Eddie is approached by this universe's Agent Venom in #26, he immediately assumes it's Flash...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Surprise! It's your ex. But not really your ex.
Anyways. (cracks knuckles) I've never really been quiet about how much I loathe this arc, for a very large variety of reasons, but this is just... laughable. Let's take a look at that specific dialogue bit.
Tumblr media
First of all, why would Flash go into politics. Second of all, "Eugene" is functionally a dead name for him, but I wouldn't expect Donny Cates to understand that, because as a writer he had pretty much zero deeper understanding of Flash's character. And thirdly, president? PRESIDENT? Okay, now you're just fucking with me.
#27 gives a little bit more information on Flash's role on this world, but I'm not sure that Flash and Anne had any kind of like, rapport, which is too bad, because that would be really funny.
Tumblr media
There's also a joke about exes there, but I suppose I might need to make that one in a fic or something, haha.
If any of my friends who actually enjoyed this arc want to add on, please do, because I put myself through pain getting these panels. And I am not going to summarize the whole Codex thing. 💖

Abience - prologue
Miguel O’Hara x Venom!Reader
Words: 1.4 words
Content warning: mild violence.
After taking on the venom symbiote, you decided to leave your home city so make sure your family doesn’t yet hurt. You were intent of living your life alone until you met Miguel and his adorable daughter.
— you’re here :)
Chapter one
Chapter two
The air was cold on top of the building, you were standing on the edge feeling the wind brushing past your body. You stared down at the lights of the city. They almost looked like stars across the sky but you could hear the city so busy below you. Cars. People. Sirens. What a shithole.
“Your heart is beating fast.”
Venom said, their voice rich in your skull like it was your thoughts. You sigh at the creature's words, closing your eyes to enjoy the feeling of the cold night air. “Obviously.”
You’ve only been living in New York for a few months, you moved after Venom started using your body as their own. It was easier this way, they weren’t a risk to your friends and family anymore. Safer for you too and this city was a good playground. For Venom anyway even with Spider-Man crawling around. Maybe that’s a plus for Venom.
You sighed, taking a step forward, your foot dangling in the air free for a second before you shifted your weight to the heel of your other foot. You spent a few seconds in that state, almost floating before your weight finally dropped.
There were a few seconds where you just free-fell, feeling that cold air rushing past you in those quick seconds. You could feel your heart pounding as adrenaline was rich in your blood and muscles until it all stopped as Venom consumed you. Wrapping themselves around you, the symbiote crashed into the concrete under you.
You drove through the city streets like a creature on a hunt. Venom carrying you along the streets. It was a pattern for you two, a routine that kept you and the alien hiding under your skin happy- no that's not the right word. Content. Yeah, that’s the right word.
You try not to be seen much. You aren’t trying to be known, you don’t want that presence. You don’t care for it, it just keeps Venom in line and happy. God, they’re like a toddler or a pet bird…
And you weren’t trying to catch the attention of Spider-Man. You won’t be the villain of the week.
Of course, you don’t let Venom have the whole night running around, and it’s easier to find trouble when you look human. You were walking down the street, face hidden in whatever hoodie you were wearing that night.
The convenience store was deathly bright when you walked in, wincing at the painfully bright lights. You kept your eyes on the floor as you walked through the store, looking at the chocolates and sweets.
**Tater tots** Venom demanded in your head, you scowled at its voice. Demanding little pest. You pick up a bag of candy when suddenly hearing the little tune that plays when walking into the store. You looked up watching the man, similar to yourself, he had a hood up hiding his face but he was fidgeting and looked nervous.
“Heads up.” You whispered to yourself, “Bet you he’s going to rob the place.” You started creeping closer to the counter, watching the man shift and inch towards the counter. As you got closer you could see his hand holding something in his pocket. Gun or knife?
He walked to the counter, and the older woman working looked up at him, smiling sweetly at him. Completely unaware of the danger which you understand painfully in your gut.
He pulled a knife out of his pocket, his hands were shaking as he pointed the knife at the older woman. Rambling in disjointed words. “Give it- hand it over money. Now. Now.”
The woman’s hands shook as she opened the register, and you stepped closer. Moving closer with silent steps, you could sense Venom under your skin grinning in anticipation.
He slammed the hilt of the blade against the counter, making the woman jolt and whimper. He went to yell again, spit flying from his lips when you made your move.
You didn’t think that this small crook needed Venom to go all out, Women's flesh crept across your lower face to sure hide your face. You stepped up behind him, Venom’s hand took over your hand, forming a large clawed hand.
“Hey.” You spoke, your venom's voices mixe. The robber turned around, expressing a mix of confusion and fear before he could even speak you lunged forward. Her clawed hand grabbed him by his face, claws wrapping around his skull as you casually tossed him away. His body slammed into the wall, cracking the wall.
You hear the older woman squeak with fear as she backed away, you watch the men fall to the floor. The knife flew out of his hand and across the floor.
There's a part of you who wants him to try a fight back, but he doesn’t. Naturally; he makes some frightened whimpers before he stands up and runs away. You can’t help the feeling of disappointment. “Get up! Fight us!”
You glance over to the old woman, she’s staring at you with fear which you can’t blame her for. You look down at the candy on display just in front of the counter, you grab some candies and toss some money onto the counter.
You walk out of the store without a second word, Venom's mask not falling until you were a block away from the store. Sighing as you opened the candy bar and take a bite.
You eventually found yourself home, it was sunrise when you eventually returned to the apartment building. You had taken off your hoodie a while ago, draping it over your arm as you walked.
Walking down the hallway to your apartment when you spotted him, he was standing in the hallway by the door across of your own. He was a bigger man, with tanned skin and brown slick back hair which was ever so slightly messy. You stared for a moment before turning your eyes away ignoring Venom's words. “Oh, who’s he? He’s new!”
The apartment was empty until now but you pull your eyes away. It wasn’t any of your business. He glances at you for a second before going back to- he looked like he was struggling to unlock the door. The key seemingly jammed. It was common with the doors in the building.
You intended on walking away, walking to the door of your apartment, sliding the key into the lock, and going to turn it when you heard a little girl's voice speaking, you didn't hear exactly what she said but her sleepy tone caused your heart to ache.
“It’s ok, princesa.” You heard the man say. Jesus that voice was rich and smooth. It almost caused a shiver to run up your spine, “I’ll- get this door open soon.”
You could hear the irritation in his voice, you turned around to glance over at him. In one arm, there’s a sleepy little girl and his other hand trying to unlock the jammed door. He was struggling to get the door open, it’s a god awful early hour so the girl must be really tired.
You sigh, turning around fully to walk over to the man, “The doors jam pretty often.” You start, catching his attention. You gesture to the door, “There’s a little trick with the door, May I?”
He looks between you and the door, before stepping back from the doors. “Well, I was half tempted just to break the door down, but I’d appreciate it if you could save me the trouble.” He let out an exhausted weak laugh.
You nod in acknowledgement, grabbing the door handle. You press your shoulder into the door, pressing the door in as you unlock the door. The heavy metal lock clinking as you open it, swinging the door open with a proud little smile. “Ta da.”
The strange looked at you for a second, before letting out a little smile. The little girl in his arms looked over to you with a little smile. “Huh, how long did it take for you to learn that?” He asked and you chuckled tiredly. “Longer than I’ll admit.
“Thank you anyways.” He said, and you waved off his gratitude but looked up to the little girl when she waved at you, “Thank you.” She said sleepily and you couldn’t help but smile wide at the adorable girl.
“It’s no problem, have a good night you two.” You wave as you walk back to your own apartment. Sighing when finally in the comfort of your own home, you walked across the living room and to the couch, letting yourself just fall on to the cushions.
“Not even going to go to your bed?” Venom laughed at your act of laziness, you mumbled something into the pillow under your face before giving into the exhaustion your felt so deep and fell asleep right there.

889376
Hobie repeated the numbers in his head over and over again as he crawled towards the entrance of the facility, terrified of setting off one of the alarms. It'd taken weeks of research and spying for you to get him the code, and he knew that if he messed it up, he wouldn't get another chance like this.
889376
Hobie lowered himself from the ceiling, hanging upside down in front of the keypad as he slowly inputted the numbers, being careful not to get one wrong. He felt his heart stop as silence fell.
The door made a quiet whirring noise, before unlocking and opening itself for him. He breathed out a soft sigh, taking a deep breath before silently entering.
Why was he breaking and entering into a multi-million dollar science lab that was heavily guarded by some of the greatest security systems in the nation? Because you'd told him to.
Just a month ago, you and the rest of his gang had received intel regarding the V.E.N.O.M soldier that Osborne used to wreak havoc on the city. Although you'd all already known that whatever powered them wasn't exactly...from this world...you still had no idea how to stop them.
That's where this heist came in.
Hobie believed that if he was able to steal the data situated in the lab, he'd be able to learn more about the V.E.N.O.M. soldiers...and hopefully figure out how to defeat them. It was a smart plan, but one that would prove difficult to carry out.
That's how he ended up here. Crawling along the length of the ceiling while examining the inside of the room that, according to his blueprints, would contain the data he needed. He dropped himself down onto the ground, crouching slightly as he approached what looked like a large glass cell.
It reminded him of a terrarium almost, something that was meant to cage those that could easily escape. In this case, 'those' stood for whatever was powering those soldiers. What was it? He wasn't sure.
All he knew was that this was the original. Where Osborne took his inspiration from, the thing that paved the way for the V.E.N.O.M. technology he used to terrorize the city today. See, Osborne's super-soldiers didn't actually use the original power source. They used a synthetic version of it, created by some of Oscorp's finest scientists, forced to perform a nearly impossible feat with a tight deadline.
But they'd done it. They'd duplicated whatever was in that cell. And now...it was Hobie's turn to find out what exactly this power source was.
As Hobie approached the glass, he could hear a slight squelching sound, so quiet that it was barely audible. Where was it coming from? He peered into the cage, hand pressed flat against the cold exterior. He couldn't see anything.
For a moment, he wanted to open the cage, maybe take a look inside, but he thought against it. There was nothing there. Could they have moved it? He cursed under his breath. Their intel wasn't exactly up-to-date...there was a chance that the power source had been moved.
Biting back his frustration, he turned his attention towards the large computer sitting on the desk next to the cell, pulling up the keyboard and glancing down at the messy scribbles on his wrist. The prewritten bypass codes, in permanent black ink, stood out against his dark skin, just legible enough for him to input them without making a mistake.
He began to scroll through the contents of the computer, pulling out a flash drive from his pocket and stabbing it into the side, the upload beginning almost immediately. While he waited for the files to load, he walked back towards the cell, hands in his pockets.
The small screen on the side of the door had begun to flash, little red warning signs appearing. He clicked past them and a page with graphs and charts opened up with a beep. He squinted slightly as he attempted to read the writing.
Beep
No Host Detected
Host?
Beep
Symbiote Pheromone Levels Spiking
Symbiote?
Hobie furrowed his brows in confusion, trying to click on the page again to make it larger. Instead, his finger accidentally brushed against the open button.
Beep
Are you sure?
The warning message popped up. Hobie hesitated for a moment, glancing back into the cell. He pressed 'yes'.
The door to the cage made a quiet whirring noise before it slowly opened, allowing Hobie to cautiously step onto the white tile inside. He could feel his spider-sense acting up, but he couldn't see anything. He entered the cell fully, hands up defensively as he looked around. And then he saw it.
Beep
Host detected.
On the floor in front of him was what looked like...a glob? It was jet black, and he could make out some slight ripples on the surface of it's skin (skin??) that shined when the light from the bright bulbs on the ceiling hit them in just the right place. It was slowly approaching him, not slithering or crawling like an animal, but extending itself out and pulling itself forward.
Hobie was taken aback by the sight, in such shock that he barely even noticed how much his spider sense was flaring up. He stared at it and it stared back up at him. When he tilted his head to the right slightly, it tilted its body the same way, as if it was mimicking him.
Hobie didn't know whether to laugh or run away.
"Unauthorized entrance"
He snapped his head back as he heard the robotic voice sound over the speakers, alerting the entirety of the building of his presence. His heart dropped. "Fuck" He muttered under his breath, shooting one last glance at the glob before walking back towards the door of the cell. He almost didn't notice it latch onto his boot.
"Wot the-" He let out a small yelp as he saw it crawling up his boot. He attempted to kick it off, and it fell to the ground, but instead of trying to crawl towards him again, it pushed itself back slightly. Hobie looked at it amusedly for a moment before a chill ran up his spine in realization. It was acting like an animal. An animal about to strike.
It pounced towards him, faster than he could react. He tried to dodge out of the way, but it extended itself out, something Hobie'd never seen before, and it latched onto him, forcing him to stumble and fall onto his back. He sat up quickly, eyes wide with fear as it began to climb up his chest.
He tried to pull it off, grunting with exertion, but it was too late. Hobie watched in horror as the symbiote sunk into him.
"He's in there!"
He didn't have time for this.
Ignoring the fact that the so-called symbiote had disappeared, Hobie jumped up onto the ceiling, sticking onto the rough surface and heading towards the vents he came through earlier. The guards entered and aimed their guns at the ceiling, but he was already gone, having climbed through the vent without a trace.

"A symbiote?" You asked, folding your arms over your chest as you leaned back in your chair. He nodded in response, fidgeting with his fingers nervously. "What the hell is a symbiote?"
"I don't know. It's probably where the tech came from. 's the original V.E.N.O.M. mech. Or at leas', it looked like V.E.N.O.M. mech." He replied, bouncing his leg up and down.
The two of your were sitting in the living room of his canal boat, going over the contents of the flash drive that he'd just barely escaped with. He'd been able to download most of the files, but they needed an encryption code to access, which neither of you knew. The whole heist had ended up being a waste...except for the fact that he said he saw the original mech.
"What do you mean it looked like the V.E.N.O.M. mech?" You asked confusedly, tilting your head at him. "Was it not the same?"
"No." He shook his head and put his hand against his face, nibbling on his fingernails. "It was this weird...gooey...stuff." He said awkwardly.
You pushed his hand away from his mouth. "Don't do that. Are you okay? You seem nervous." He looked up at your concerned face and his expression softened slightly. "I'm fine. Jus' still on edge." he said quickly, shoving his hands in the pockets of his vest.
"Look, tha' symbiote thing did something. It kind of-" he cringed, knowing that your response wasn't going to be positive, "-latched onto me."
You froze. "What."
"It melted. It melted on top of me, an' then it jus' disappeared. Like I absorbed it or somethin'" he said quietly, his fingers moving back towards his mouth.
"Why would you go near it?" You asked, shock spreading through your body. "Are you insane?"
"I didn't know it would do tha'!" He voice turned defensive as he leaned back slightly, eyebrows furrowed in frustration. "I didn't even know it was there! It just appeared out o' nowhere!"
"Okay, okay" you put your hands up to calm him down, or more to calm yourself down. "How do you feel? Did it...change anything?"
He stayed silent for a moment, thinking it over. "I feel great actually."
You raised your eyebrows. "Really?" You asked curiously.
"Yeah. I mean, I'm a bit nervous but that's just 'cause I almost got caught." He stood up, stretching his arms out, a smile appearing on his face as he realized that he was in fact feeling much better. "I feel amazin'"
"Amazing?"
He ignored you and jumped up, sticking his hand to the ceiling. "Huh. I didn't even realize 'til now."
"Okay, let's not jump ahead. We still need to figure out where that thing went." You said, gesturing for him to sit back down. "Did you really just...absorb it?"
He wasn't paying attention to you. He was looking down at his hands weirdly, inspecting them as he stayed sticking to the ceiling. "Hobie!" He looked back at you. "Yea?"
"Can you sit back down?"
"Yes ma'am." He unlatched himself from the ceiling and plopped back down onto the couch. He looked down at himself curiously before glancing back towards you. "You don' think that thing attaching itself t' me is gonna change my powers, do you?"
"Why do you think that?" you asked, eyes widening slightly as you thought about that idea. What if?
"Well, if it's the original V.E.N.O.M. tech, it should act like the tech Ozzy's groupies use, right? Maybe I could use that-"
"No."
"Wot?" He looked at you confusedly. "What do you mean, no?"
"We are not planning another riot when you haven't even figured out what that thing's done to you, Hobes." You said with an eye roll. "You're taking this too easy."
He gave you one of those starboy grins of his. "Come off it, I'm Spider-Man, remember? I'll be fine. Might as well put this t' good use." He said with a wink.
"Put what to use? You don't even know what that thing's doing to you-"
"I'll figure it out along the way." he interrupted, leaning back with a smile. You smacked your forehead in annoyance while he gave you an amused look. "'s cute that you care about me so much-"
"Don't. Even. Start."
"Alright, alright" he put his hands up defensively. "I'm jus' messing with ya."
You gave him another glance. "Are you sure you feel okay?" You tried one last time.
"Peachy."
"Fine." You grumbled, standing up and heading towards the kitchen. "You want something to eat?" You asked, opening the fridge and peering inside.
He followed you, leaning against the counter as he watched from behind. "I'll have a yogurt or something."
You squinted. "I don't think we have yogurt."
"It's right there." he said, vaguely gesturing towards the contents of the fridge.
"Where?"
"Here, jus' let me-" He pointed his hand to towards you, attempting to shoot a web towards the fridge. Suddenly, instead of a web coming out of his wrist like usual, something else appeared.
You watched in horror as his arm turned black and extended towards the fridge, grabbing onto the yogurt before pulling it back. You looked at Hobie and he looked equally as confused, staring down at the container in his hand in shock.
"What the fuck was that?!" You exclaimed, taking a step back.
"I-I don't know!" He replied back, his voice just as high-pitched and nervous as yours was. He held his hand in from of him like it was a weapon, pointing it out. "Tha's new..."
"NO SHIT?!"
"Don't yell at me!" He said, eyes wide.
"What was that thing?!"
"I don't know! Maybe it came from-" his jaw dropped. "You don't think-"
"The symbiote." You both whispered together. "I don't remember V.E.N.O.M. soldiers being able to do that" You said nervously. "Well, it is the original...it probably has some different abilities?" He asked, obviously trying to play it off.
You stared at each other in silence. "You know wot? It's fine." he said, opening up the yogurt container. You watched him in shock. "Are you mental?" You asked, approaching him, throwing your hands up in the air. "How are you okay with this?"
"Well what else am I supposed to do? I don't know how t' get this thing out!" he said defensively, mouth full of yogurt. "I'll figure it out later. I'm hungry." He mumbled, shoveling another spoonful into his mouth as he looked away.
What the hell?
Why was he acting so weird? You'd have never expected him to be okay with some weird gooey alien controlling his body. And since when did he like yogurt?!?
"You're hungry?"
He nodded in response, tossing the empty container into the trash and sifting through the items in the fridge as he searched for another item to attack. His eyes landed on a bag of...frozen shrimp.
He pulled it out curiously, putting it near his face. "What is this?" He asked, looking at it as though he was on the brink of starvation. "...frozen shrimp?" you replied cautiously. "Don't tell me you're gonna ea-"
It was too late. He'd already opened the bag and was crunching on the pieces as if they were chips. "Hobie!" You exclaimed, jaw dropping as you watched him. "What are you-" You stopped yourself, barely able to process what you were seeing.
He just shrugged in response. "I'm hungry."
"FOR FROZEN SHRIMP?!?"
"It smells good!"
His ears perked up and he put the bag down, as if he'd heard something. "Do you hear tha'?" He asked, walking towards the window near the two of you.
"Hear what?"
He pressed his ear to the glass of the window. "Someone needs my help."
"How-"
"I gotta go. Spider-man duties." he interrupted, taking another handful of shrimp in his hand before he grabbed his mask off the couch.
"What are you-"
"See you later, love!"
"Hobie-!"
And just like that, he was gone without another word, swinging off into the distance, faster that he usually did.
Strange.
You stared into the distance, still trying to process what'd just happened. You couldn't help but feel as though something was off. I mean...obviously something was off, but there was this feeling in the pit of your stomach that made it seem as though something far, far worse was going to happen.
It was best not to dwell on it. The best thing for you to do right now was to figure out the encryption code for that damn flash drive. Only then would you be able to figure out what that symbiote really was. And what it could be doing.
End of Part 1.

You and Anya were invited to attend a Christmas celebration with the Spider Society. You were also joined by your friendly symbiote, Venom. The two of you worked together, saving people as the Lethal Protector in New York. Which is how you met Anya.
Right now, everyone was doing a gift exchange and opening presents. Anya handed you one and when you opened it you found it filled with different kinds of chocolates. Shortly after, a head appeared from your shoulder.
Venom: Chocolate!
All the spider people jumped up and held the reader down.
Insomniac Spider-Man: Quick get fire and sound!
The Ghost-Spider, a combination of Ghost Rider and Spider-Man, came forward and held out a hand of hell fire.
Ghost-Spider: Hold them down!
Spider-Man(Tobey): Hurry before the symbiote consumes them.
Anya: Wait! Everyone stop. He's a good symbiote.
Venom: Yes. We fight crime, too, as the Lethal Protector!
Y/n: Not helping, buddy. But yes, we are not bad guys.
Spider-Man(Andrew): I guess that explains the antlers.
Y/n: What antlers?
You then look over at Venom and see a pair of light up reindeer antlers.

I'm being holding hostage by a Pyramid Scheme since I know myself, let me Tell You'll.
Hannibal started It, and the I was watching Supernatural, after that It began with others shows with couple who look likes these two shows before, and now, I'm can see that all the way come back to where I Begin, because I started seeing K-dramas with a Hannibal relationship like.
That lead me to make a list with dramas, and I pass by a C-drama, that lead me to the way back when I watched these shows with heavy "bromance". All starded the same year, because these C-dramas where from all the same year, I came back to them and to watch more.
It's all intertwined, and the nostalgia feeling is crushing me.
(and not ALL shows in this Scheme where about a gay relationship, but one person in the show make me watch more shows because they're in, or Just because it's make Sense to watch the show after watching these other show)
(I can't put more tags, but have more, feel free to prolong the list guys)

It makes way too much sense for Venom (not necessarily the live action one) to feature in Beyond the Spider-Verse in at least some capacity.
It'd tie in well with Miles trying to balance his personal life with his life as Spider-Man if he met Venom, who's whole thing is balance. Balance between man and monster, balance between being a hero and a villain.
It makes perfect sense for Miles to meet him, even if only briefly, because if anyone knows how to make two cakes, it's Venom

Behold my Spidersona, Storm Spider! Or Stormy for short like 'Spidey'. And her real name is Skye Sanders.
She is both the calm and the storm. Has the generic spider powers, and bio-electric venom like Miles. But her's is bit more potent then his. Meaning what she lacks in his cloaking, she makes up for in stronger venom. Her webs are also specially designed to conduct her electricity, her favorite move is the taser-web. Her suit is made of smart fabric, clothing laced with technology. Some of which monitors her vitals and wattage output, thermals to keep her harm in intense cold, condition sensors, an emergency beacon to alert certain contacts, color changing stealth mode (not invisible, just blend), it can also conduct static around her to keep giving her energy, and its outer layer is made of a virtually strong materiel. An armored fabric stronger than steel. There are other benefits to her suit besides what its made of such as high-tech lens, multi-functional headphones (music, communicator earmuffs), clip-on hood, and pockets. Her powers tend to be stronger in the winter, and during storms.
While she isn't as smart as either Peter or Miles. Stormy has a friend who is very tech savvy, that made her suit. She's always in closed communication with her friend in case she needs a brainiac to help figure things out. Though she isn't knowledgeable about everything scientific. Stormy still has a great perspective and high IQ. She can read people very well, notice things hard to see. Not to mention her strong hearing. Stormy also a lot of heart and is wiser then most her age, She can thank her mother for that. Most times while swinging though the city, she's listening to music. Skye capital-L, Lives for music! She's a musician playing her electric guitar, loves to sing, and listens to every kind of genre there is. Definitely a spider who could take on Electro.
Thing is though this is only half of my sona. I and Skye are geminis, which means we're both twofaced. Consider Storm Spider the calm, get on her bad side and you'll see the true storm.
Her favorite song is: Electric Youth by Debbie Gibson.

Where the fuck is he?
You'd been calling Hobie nonstop, the contents of the video file flashing through your mind as you searched for him. You drove around the city on your bike as quickly as you could, eyes scanning the roads and alleyways for any sign of your best friend.
After you'd kicked him out yesterday, you hadn't heard a single word from him. He hadn't picked up any of your calls, and you hadn't found him anywhere. Usually you'd at least see him swinging around the city, doing his thing as Spider-man. But you hadn't.
Not a single glimpse.
So where could he be?
"Excuse me, miss, this is gonna sound really weird but...have you seen Spider-man anywhere lately?"
"Spider-man? No..I actually haven't."
"Alright, thank you. Sorry for the bother." you nodded at the woman before zooming back onto the street, joining the traffic as your head began to hurt with worry.
Nobody else had seen him either.
You didn't know what to do. How were you supposed to find a man that obviously didn't want to be found? Or what if...what if something had happened to him? What if that symbiote had done the same thing to him that it'd done to all the other 'volunteers'?
You sped up, panic settling in the depths of your stomach. You felt like you were going to be sick. The thought of Hobie...losing himself to that thing...no, no, he was too strong for that. He wouldn't.
Right?
Suddenly, you slammed on the brakes, the bike coming to a halt as a flash of black flew right in front of you, too fast for you to make out what it was. You squinted as it moved farther into the distance.
Could it be?
"Hobie?" You whispered to yourself, eyes wide with fear. The flash had been a figure, a human figure, pitch black with snow white eyes, mixing into the rest of its body like running mascara. Without a second thought, you kickstarted the bike, following the figure as it swung through the city, in a pattern eerily similar to the movements you'd seen Hobie practice so many times as Spider-man.
It was him...but it wasn't him.
You were struggling to keep up with the figure, already accelerating past the speed limits and having to swerve between lanes and other vehicles. But you couldn't lose him...if you did, you might never find him again.
The figure swung onto a tall building, hitting it with a powerful crash, causing some rubble to fall down to the pavement below, eliciting yells from those situated under it. You took your eyes off the figure for a moment to get out of the way of the debris, but when you looked back up, the figure had disappeared.
"No, no, no!" You exclaimed, stopping in your tracks, looking around furiously as you scanned the sky for any sign of him. "Fuck!"
Taking your helmet off, you threw it onto the ground in frustration, breathing heavily as you tried to calm yourself down. You couldn't make a scene. Taking a deep breath, you looked back up at where the figure had made contact with the building. Claw marks.
That's a start.
You got off the bike and began to walk down the street, looking up at the other buildings. "Come on...there has to be more" you muttered under your breath, turning around in the middle of the street. Your gaze landed on a building, maybe a 100 feet in front of you, with the same large gashes on the side.
You approached the building, and then you saw more, these ones on the edge of the roof of an apartment. A girl was standing outside on its balcony, looking utterly confused. You gave her a nervous smile before you continued to search.
You found yourself following a trail of, not only claw marks, but holes that looked like they were made by spikes, and faint footprints...but could you really call them footprints? They didn't look like footprints. More like giant dents in the pavement, always coming in groups of four, two in the front and two in the back.
As the scratches and dents increased, you realized you were approaching an alleyway, a skinny, dark one, with a few larger garbage bins blocking the entrance. You were about to continue your search down the street, but then you noticed the scrapes on the concrete below the containers.
He was here. He had to be.
Using all your strength, you pushed the bin to the side with a grunt, making space for yourself to squeeze through.
At the end of the alleyway was that figure, huddled up and facing a corner. You watched in horror as the darkness covering the figure disappeared, as if it was just melting away. Underneath it...was Hobie.
You were about to call out his name when you heard something. Sniffling.
"Please, please stop doing this" he whimpered out.
You walked a little closer, staying as silent as humanly possible. He hadn't seen you yet. As you approached him, you noticed he was talking to something. A...head. But it wasn't a human head, no, it was the head of the figure you'd seen jumping through the city, with its giant white eyes and midnight black skin, except this time you could also make out a mouth full of sharp white teeth, pointed like those of a dragon.
"Get out of my head-"
"We're not in your head...we're real."
You froze. What was that voice? It was like a hiss, the kind of voice a snake would have if animals could speak. The kind of voice you'd hear in your nightmares. And it looked like a nightmare, smiling up at Hobie, trying to convince him of...whatever it was trying to do.
"We're hungry..." it hissed. "We should eat another"
Another?
"No" Hobie sobbed, falling to his knees. You'd never seen him look so defenseless before. Whatever this thing was, it was hurting him. Badly. "Just get out, GET OUT!" He yelled out, grabbing at the thing. The head, you realized, was connected to Hobie's chest by a long, pitch black neck, for lack of a better word. It dodged out of his grasp and elongated, wrapping around him tightly.
Hobie struggled, and you watched in horror as the face held him up, squeezing him so hard he looked like he'd break. "We can't get out now...we are one." The face opened its mouth, revealing a long, disgusting tongue, licking at Hobie's face as he sobbed. "One."
It hissed before closing its mouth, knocking its head against Hobie's and throwing him back. The head slithered back towards him, sinking into his chest and disappearing, leaving Hobie shaking. He curled up against the wall, hands over his head.
You decided this was your chance to approach him. You slowly walked towards him, staying slightly crouched. You could hear him crying softly, face hidden behind his arms.
"Hobie?" you whispered out.
He looked up and you jumped. He looked horrible. His face was stained with blood, lips cracked and bleeding, dark circles under his eyes and oh god...his eyes...they looked so big and watery and miserable that you just wanted to hold him and tell him it was all going to be okay.
But you couldn't promise that.
"No...no y'can't be here" he whispered, backing up as you approached him, eyes darting to the side as if he was looking for some sort of escape. "hey, hey its gonna be okay" you replied softly, kneeling down in front of him.
"What happened to you?" You asked softly, reaching your hand out towards his face. He leaned in to your touch, hot tears beginning to form again. Suddenly he jerked back. "You have to go." He said nervously, pushing you away as he struggled to stand up, shaking. "You have to go!"
"What?" you stood up with him, putting your hands on his arms and looking up at him concernedly. "Hobie, I know what's going on, I know what that thing's doing to you-"
"Its gonna hurt you" he sobbed, falling back against the wall for support. "Please, it's gonna hurt you, you need t'get out of here, please" he cried.
"Hobie, I know what it is, I know what it's doing to you-"
"I-I can take care of m'self, you need to go-" suddenly, he clutched at his head, letting out a yell. You backed up out of fear as he convulsed, clawing at his hair. "Hobie!" You grabbed his hands to stop him from tearing his own skin, "-There's nothing there, there's nothing!" You told him, trying to hold him down.
"NO-NO-" He yelled out, punching and clawing.
Suddenly, he stopped. He fell silent, eyes closed.
Then he crumpled to the floor.
"Hobie!" You fell to your knees next to him, turning him over and trying to shake him awake. Tears were beginning to form in your own eyes as you begged him to get up. "Please, wake up, Hobes please" you whispered, cupping his face in your hands and shaking him.
Then you heard a quiet hiss. Strands of black began to cover him like vines, wrapping around his arms, legs and chest. You tried to rip them off, but you couldn't stop them. Stumbling back you watched as the darkness covered him completely, morphing him back into that same figure you'd seen before.
Except this time...there was more.
The black skin erupted in spikes, covering his shoulders, spine and hands, sharp as crystals. His eyes opened slightly and he looked over at you, a tired look on his face. "Y/N..." he croaked out, lifting his arm to reach out towards you.
The black crawled up his neck, vines enveloping his mouth and face until it was like he was wearing a mask, not a single inch of skin visible.
"Hobie..." you whispered, shaking your head as you pushed yourself back.
"Y/N..." he repeated, eyes closing.
Suddenly, they swung open, the whites of the mask having covered them completely.
"Run."
A/N: Lol cliffhanger. Next part will probably be the last one. Hope y'all enjoyed this <3 Also it's taking me a lot longer to get posts out cuz midterms are kicking my ass so sorry for the delay :(
