hey everyone i know i'm not super active in mcytblr rn but with all the talk about misogyny in the gaming community and bias towards m/m stuff (which is absolutely important to talk about!! keep that conversation going) i just. wanna mention.
can we please not girlbossify qsmp jaiden? attributing her character to "way cooler than everyone because she's a girl and not roleplaying gay sex" kind of alienates her and reduces her to a gender and orientation. i love jaiden to bits but she isn't a corporate-stereotype-girl-power-badass and i am very tired of every fem cc/character being shoved into this sanitised feminism box.
it's kind of a disservice that completely overlooks jaiden's on-stream persona. i'm very sick of this mandatory link where to justify a fem character as enjoyable they have to be made into a girlboss. just putting it out there.

Happily Ever After
(TW/CW for typical sexist thinking)
When Beauty and the Beast comes out in 1991, despite the fact that El is almost 20, she decides she wants to go and see it with her and her family. She adored The Little Mermaid, and after the Family Video days, going to the movies is still something her and the party like to do together. And Steve loves it, because he gets to watch cheesy romance storylines without taking shit for it.
But at the tender age of 24, not in a long-term relationship, and still haunted by his days in school, Beauty and the Beast hits Steve a little close to home. He sees himself in the Beast, wonders if he'll ever find love, if he'll ever stop being 'too much' for people (because sure, he doesn't have the Beast's temper, but he is too clingy, his exes - yes, all of them - made sure to tell him, and that's without all the other stuff).
And it's not like he's hopped into bed with every viable option in the years since they finally killed Vecna, either. He's really only had 3 relationships in that time, carefully vetted and deliberated upon before even starting the relationship, because he'd known then what it was like to have his heartbroken, and he was not in a rush to repeat that. Besides, his kids came first, and there was a lot of rebuilding to do. But despite everything, none of his girlfriends had lasted, not between the secrets of the Upside Down, the head trauma, the nightmares, and his 'cloying' nature.
He leaves the theatre with an ache in his chest, but tries to keep a smile on his face as they all pile into the nearest burger joint and talk about the movie and life in general. Only Eddie notices something's off, quirking an eyebrow at him. Steve, of course, waves him off with a poor excuse for a smile.
When it's time for them to all disperse, Steve drives straight to his current girlfriend's house as previously planned, not noticing the worried look Eddie shoots his way. Steve tries to hide his mood from his girlfriend, tries not to hug her for too long when she greets him at the door, knowing from much previous experience that girls don't like it when you're not the strong one, but he just can't shake the feeling that he's being torn apart from the inside out. He just can't help but think about how Belle was willing to change for the Beast; adjust her expectations, adapt her behaviour, be patient with him, and communicate instead of sending him weird, incomprehensible messages then get pissed when he doesn't understand. Why can't he have that? Is he even worthy of that? Why the fuck is it easier to justify redemption for a fictional beast than himself?
But his girlfriend sighs, unfooled, and won't leave him alone until he's honest about it because it's putting a damper on her night. And Steve, unprepared and entirely lost, just stammers out: 'I just... I want Disney love, you know?'
His girlfriend snorts at him, tells him Disney love doesn't exist, and that he just needs to be a man and get on with it.
Normally, Steve would force a laugh, tell her she's right, bury his feelings and try to do just that. But tonight? Tonight it breaks him. Before he knows what he's doing, he's up and muttering 'I don't think this is working' and gets straight back in his car, barely hearing her calling his name, confused and angry and exasperated. He doesn't notice where he's driving until he's already pulled up outside Eddie and Wayne's house, bought with the hush-money from the government.
He shuts off the engine and just sits there, debating what to do. The truth is, Eddie is just as much his best friend as Robin - even more so, sometimes, just in a different way Steve can't explain. Eddie always knows when he's upset, and knows exactly how to hug him - which he does, regularly. Eddie know when to steer him outside if it's too loud and going to trigger a migraine, and seems to know when he needs to eat, even though Eddie himself can barely keep himself fed. And Steve knows just when Eddie's going to get overstimulated and needs to be given something to focus on to calm him down, or when Eddie's had a bad night with nightmares, and needs someone to fall asleep with on the phone, just to know someone's there with him. He knows just when Eddie needs someone he can talk to about his new campaign, because everyone in work would complain so much if Eddie rambled on there. And Steve enjoys listening to him, so why wouldn't he encourage Eddie to speak to him?
They're best friends. And right now, he needs one of Eddie's hugs. It's just he's not normally so pathetically desperate when he turns up.
The decision is made for him when the front door opens and Eddie leans against the frame, a knowing smile on his face, practically screaming 'well, are you gonna come in or what?'. And even though he fights it, Steve can't stop the tears from welling as he gets out of the car and throws himself straight into Eddie's open arms.
"Whoa whoa, hey big boy, it's okay," Eddie soothes, bringing his arms around him and squeezing with just the right amount of pressure as sobs bubble up in Steve's throat.
"That's it, let it out," Eddie adds, and fuck does it make Steve melt.
Somehow - Steve really doesn't know how - Eddie gets the door closed and brings him to the sofa, manoeuvring him until Steve is curled up on his chest, face pressed into his neck, just safe and warm and whole in his arms, despite feeling so broken. And eventually, when Steve's calmed down enough to sniffle his way through an explanation, Eddie's warm hand in the centre of his back pulling too-honest word after too-honest word out of him, instead of laughing it off or being cagey as he normally would, Eddie's there, blowing out a breath, saying 'That sucks man,' and calling his girlfriend a bitch. Well, ex-girlfriend.
"She's not. Not really." Steve mumbles. "She's probably right, anyway. Disney love doesn't exist. I just- I just want someone that wants all of me, you know? Why show us that on screen if it doesn't exist in real life?"
"It does exist, man," Eddie says, but his tone is off. It's... sad, somehow. Like he's in pain. Steve blinks at him, and within seconds, a blush is covering Eddie's cheeks.
"Er, I just mean that it is out there, and you'll definitely find it," he says, tone now too bright and too enthusiastic.
".... But." Steve prompts.
"No, no buts. You can have it, and I'm sure you will!"
Steve tilts his head to the side. "Okay... so why did you sound.. like that?"
Eddie rakes his fingers through his hair - Steve never understood how his rings didn't catch in his curls.
"I, well, it's just that sometimes... the people who could love us like that have wanted to for a long time, and we've never noticed..."
Eddie's biting his lip, his voice trailing off into nothing, and legs practically vibrating with how fast he's tapping them. And Steve can't breathe.
"Eds?" he croaks.
"It just sucks that you're straight," Eddie forces out a laugh. "Because, assuming you'd be happy with a freak like me? I'd... gods Stevie, I'd give you everything."
Steve stares at him, at the bright pink of his cheeks, the deeper red of his lips (that are going to get darker if he keeps biting them like that), at the hair he's always been just a little bit obsessed with, and feels warmth and hope bloom where air should be.
"Eds... who says I'm straight?"
It's absolutely not what he expects to come out of his mouth. He'd never questioned his sexuality, even when Will and Mike finally got together. But now, how can he know he's anything but? It's like all the stars have magically aligned and suddenly, a new path has been made clear to him. The one he should have been on years ago.
Eddie's eyes snap to his, and Steve still cannot breathe, drowning in the hope, the fear, the devotion there. He wants to whimper. Almost does.
"Wh- what?"
Steve swallows. "For you, Eds? I'd be anything."
And it's different this time. Saying those words. He's used to them being a promise to become something he's not, to put everyone and their needs ahead of himself. But with Eddie, he knows he's never be taken advantage of like that. That Eddie would do exactly the same for him.
Eddie's hand cups his cheek, the callouses from his guitar sending tingles down Steve's spine, and Steve wants to cry all over again as Eddie whispers, hesitant and hopeful, "Be mine?"
Licking his lips, Steve swallows past his thumping heart.
"For forever, and happily ever after."

A little comic I made of my dumbass self. I was a weird egg and would rather make strange conspiracy theories than actually question my gender.
I drew it by hand rather than pen so it’s baaad but the point remains the same

(SORRY FOR NOT RESPONDING)
BUT YEAH like the comment said the first part on the fluttershy one
IVE ALREADY STARTED WORKING ON IT SO YAYYYY LMAO
You and Adam went way back, ever since eve ate the apple and Lilith left him for lucifer. You had taken over caring for the garden and with you and Adam being the only ones allowed back in the garden. You were quiet and didn't talk much to other angels just the animals and plants.
You were sitting in the garden surrounded by animals and plants. You had grown attached to the animals in the same way they had grown attached to you. Your dress was covered in soil stains and small bites taken out of the bottom from goats and sheep. You were humming and spinning happily in the ankle tall grass as you plucked ripe fruit from trees and bushes and even the apple tree, though the apples were made into fertilizer instead of eaten. It was calm and therapeutic almost. This was your heaven.. not those busy streets, just you here alone with nature. That was until you heard a Crack of twigs, and normally you would brush it off but it seemed like the weight was too heavy, you turned around sharply to be met with Adam just a few feet behind you. You immediately stopped dancing your face bright red in embarrassment, " A-Adam!! What are you doing here?" You raised your voice a bit at him. Adam smirked. "awwe don't be shy, girly, keep dancing." I liked the show~" Adam teased, and you felt like you were gonna collapse in on yourself. You shook your head no repeatedly, causing Adam to laugh loudly. "Be careful. You'll snap your neck doing that." You stopped immediately embarrassed from him, calling you out like that. "What did you need, Adam?" You asked softly. Adam shook his head "always thinking that you know me, yknow women aren't supposed to think " Adam said walking closer and poking your forehead roughly causing your head to jerk back from the pressure "Adam please.. I have stuff to do.." you muttered, holding Adam's hand and pulling it away from you. Adam shook his head "Alright alright but don't say nothing when they threatened to burn the witch, I wanted to talk to you about feelings," Adam said begrudgingly "feelings? I uhm.. I don't know much about them but I can listen?" You said softly before sitting down and patting the ground in front of you. Adam sighed. "There's this chick, I've known her for centuries, and to be honest, I really like her its.. hard to be mean to her? It's hard to say mean things and to push her away." Adam ranted, taking deep breaths every now and then. You then put the pieces together " I know how you feel I like this guy he's uhm really mean sometimes and doesn't always treat me the best but he's there" you said meekly before bringing your knees to your chest as you got a bit embarrassed.
Now Adam may be dumb at times but this time he clicked on quickly and smirked scooching a bit closer to her "and if this handsome and oh so amazing man asked you out " Adam nudged you a bit teasing you. With a small nod you hinted that you would say yes. "I'll pick you up tonight we can have dinner at my place alright?" Adam smirked a bit and got up holding his hand out for you to help you up, you took his hand as he tugged her up off the garden floor.
It was a few hours later when Adam went by your door to pick you up (yk that dress fluttershy wears when she turns human? Yea that one) you were wearing a dress waiting just outside your door for him to come get you. Adam turned the corner right before your door and he froze seeing you "woah.. damn butterfly didn't know you dressed up that nice " Adam smiled at you.. a genuine smile.. no mask between the 2 of you
"You look amazing too adam.."

I can see why some people would be uncomfortable with the idea of trans Redtail being Sandstorm's dad, but like
Something about how cis women in wc are restricted from leadership by their ability to have kits but the cis men aren't bc the clans define women by their bodies and how it's used to serve the clans and how the clans expect the mom to do the kit rearing or else she's the worst but the dad can abandon them for all they care and bluestar sacrificing her own kits just to keep a far less worthy tom from obtaining power because he's a tough manly man and she's just a woman and how it haunts her for life and now she has a male deputy who wants to have kits and keep his position but his very nature defies the gender roles the clans box cats into and now the other cats have to confront this fact and they are twisting themselves into knots to justify this shitty normalized norm no matter what they think of redtail's choice and they give two choices but both of them are bad and the real question is do they let go of their prejudice and work with the cat in front of them or do they double down in the name of traditions that don't respect any cat that strays outside their curated binary and bluestar knows how it feels to have to justify yourself to a world that refuses to help you even once but can she trust him with her own darkest secret born from the same prejudices and something something gender binaries are a curse both in and out of universe

About this whole situation
i feel like the least you can do
is to just... not say you're going to keep enjoying the game.
Enjoy the game, no one can hold you accountable for that, but the moment you're posting on social media about the fact you're going to just ignore everything and support or say that project moon did their best you're just harming the artist they unfairly fired. I know it's hard. I know how devastating it is but at least,
the best thing you can do if you cannot bring yourself to stop playing- is to stay silent.
Also just for some context: (it gets kind of long but long story short. PJ Moon did not make this choice to protect the artist, but they did it because it is the easiest thing.)
Korean women that are angry are angry because this has happened before- in 2016, a VA that wore a t-shirt that was associated with feminism went under attack to the same group of DC incels claiming she's a feminist and should be fired for that.
What the company did- was to fire her, creating a whole whirlpool of situation that got other women targeted and fired. I'm pretty sure the VA here in question got blacklisted from the gaming company.
There are sources revealing that from 2016 to 2020, over 14 women got fired because of similar accusation, and I'm not even sure it counts freelancers that were just silently put off to work.
The National Human Rights Commission of Korea, for fucks sake, has made a testament on 2020 in how the censorship on feminism happening in the gaming industry is a hate crime.
So what Project Moon did here was, it was to do the easiest and most inhumane choice possible, which was to fire a female artist over a similar controversy, bringing the nightmare-ish situation that happened in 2016 back all over again. In 2023. That's why people are disappointed. That's why Korean women feel threatened by this situation. Saying that this was all to protect Vellmori is an insult to her, and to the other female workers who wrongly loose their jobs over situations like these.
The hilarious thing over this whole situation? Every single company that has fired their workers like that has fumbled over themselves! The company and the game that fired the VA got ultimately labeled as a feminist game and lost its male customers too- because they had to keep firing people the moment incels didn't like them, until they couldn't. So incels are saying the game went down because of feminism. Another game? The representative is on fire because to no one's (except for the incels) surprise they fired all of the workers in the project because the game wasn't making any money anymore- making these fired workers reveal the fact that they've been mistreated, overworked, and abused over years. That is two example of many! But what about the games that did the extremely brave and difficult decision to just ignore the incels and go on with their game?
They're fine. They're okay. They had their lows just when the incels attacked, but Korean chauvinist pigs are just so childish that either they decide that it isn't fun to dox people anymore, or comfort themselves saying that oh well, they aren't that feminist after all or, well it's too fun so I don't care it's feminist! This are the pigs PJ Moon cave in. There are games that are boring as hell from smaller companies that survived and are still surviving because their customers are loyal, because the customers know that at least they won't fire their workers over stupid reasonings, the bare minimum!
So just- stop saying you're going to support the game- at least please don't for a while. I can't stop you from playing, but this is something PJ Moon has to take on themselves or this will create the same nightmare-ish situation that happened in 2016 all over again. Don't enable them. Stop giving them the message this is okay. Stop saying it was to support Vellmori, because ruining a young artist's career by telling her she's fired in a phone call after 11pm is not protection. It will never be.

"lesbian isn't non-men attracted to non-men, it's women attracted to women"
saw this take earlier. of all the gatekeeping bullshit...
okay, let's play a super quick game:
you're a lesbian. you watch a movie starring janelle monae. you fall in love with her. she's so beautiful, so talented. you're attracted to her physically and attracted to her personality.
then you find out janelle monae is non-binary.
uh oh! are you no longer a lesbian?
"well, once i found out she isn't a woman, i would no longer be attracted to her!"
really? are you sure?
"it's about her gender. i might find her attractive in other ways, but i wouldn't find her attractive overall because of her gender."
really?
okay, well, let's say you find her physically attractive still but aren't attracted overall because of her gender. fair enough, right?
then are women who are physically attracted to men but don't romantically or sexually pursue men still lesbians? a little bit of chest hair action gets 'em hot and heavy, but they'd never pursue that.
no? yes? why does this standard apply to non-binary people but not men?
if "yes," let's also assume a woman HAS slept with men in the past. or dated them! and still finds them physically attractive, but just not attractive overall because of their gender. is she a lesbian?
are you really going to sit here and tell me that if a lesbian woman had a partner for ten or twenty years who suddenly started using she/they pronouns that she's no longer a lesbian, even if she and her partner still use that label for themselves?
can the partner still call themselves a lesbian? would you dare to challenge them on that? really?
if no, if the partner can still call themselves a lesbian in this scenario, then what's the difference between this non-binary person calling themselves a lesbian and any other non-binary person calling themselves a lesbian? is it because this other non-binary person is amab and presents masc? hmm? what if they were afab and presented masc? what if they were afab, presented masc, and were on hrt? what if they were amab, presented masc, but were on feminizing hrt? it kinda feels like maybe you don't ACTUALLY think non-binary people are actually non-binary...
disallowing women attracted to non-binary people from calling themselves lesbian is a slippery slope that ends in transphobia, sex essentialism, and the erasing on non-binary identities.
disallowing non-binary people from calling themselves lesbian is the same slippery slope.
"that's because non-binary people aren't real! being trans is fake! etc."
firstly, ew. secondly...
you're a lesbian. you see a woman across the bar. she's gorgeous. drop dead. you take her home. you spend the night together. you begin seeing each other.
you find out a few weeks later that she's trans. post surgery, post hrt.
are you no longer a lesbian for being sexually attracted to her? are you no longer a lesbian for being emotionally attracted to her?
you meet a woman. she's with her husband. big, burly, bearded dude. absolute hunk of a man.
she calls herself a lesbian.
'what? huh? no you're not. you're married to a man.'
'yeah, but he's a TRANS man. so. yk.'
is she a lesbian? the only other people she's ever slept with have been women.
stop trying to over-define the term. stop trying to box people in. if people want to identify with the community, let them. seriously. just let them. we'll deal with the people using the label in bad faith as they come up.
"but i want a place to feel safe! i want a place full of people who are going to identify with me and relate to me! i want a community of people who face the same problems as i do!"
yeah. we all do. we do. all the people you're trying to keep out certainly do. but even if we do restrict membership to people who fit your criteria, they're not all gonna experience the same stuff as you. you're gonna run into gold star lesbians and lesbians who had only dated men prior to coming out. you're gonna meet asexual lesbians, demisexual lesbians, hypersexual lesbians. you're gonna meet drag kings and high femmes. you're gonna meet girls who pass as straight, maybe are even still in the closet, and girls who came out of the closet at five and are so butch they pass as a guy without even trying. you're gonna meet lesbians with so much trauma around being queer they can barely make it through the day and lesbians who had the good fortune to barely, if ever, face any oppression. there's always gonna be people in our community whose experiences feel alien to you. there's always gonna be people who you don't share much common ground with at all. there's always gonna be people who don't fit in with your idea of the culture. there's always gonna be people who make you feel uncomfortable, unsafe.
the queer community is not invite only. our labels don't and can't have rigid definitions. gender is a spectrum and where we lie on that spectrum may change. sexuality is a spectrum and where we lie on that spectrum may change. we're always going to be in motion, even if you don't want to be. even if that idea scares you.
you do have a community. you do have safe people and safe spaces. there are people who get you. just relax. you're going to be okay.

is light yagami a sexist cheater
That's an interesting question.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm going to say no to the sexist part, or at least not more than a traditional first-born son in a Japanese family would be (and probably a good deal less).
Oh, he's most certainly a cheater, and he's very unabashed about it. He starts cheating on Misa the moment they enter a relationship (which, to be fair, Misa blackmailed him into at that point in time) and is very up front about that fact. Later, he doesn't hesitate to cheat on Misa with Takeda in order to make Takeda his stooge. Misa of course, knows this and goes to confront Takeda herself and has a very interesting dinner where she leaves realizing she's won because Takeda's clearly expendable. VICTORY FOR MISA!
He starts up his affair with Takeda, fully intending to use her for his own purposes. He takes a girl on a date to space land so that he can get Raye Penber's name.
Sexist though... The thing is, while Light is horrible to everyone, he's no more horrible to female characters than he is to anyone else. Oh, he cheats on Misa, he uses Takeda's feelings against her, but I never got the feeling that he was awful or even thought less of them because they were women. We see him pull the same shit with Mikami, Matsuda, the task force, his father, all the men around him without missing a beat.
He's never dismissive of characters because they're women and while generally terrible, again, not because they're women. L is much more dismissive of Misa than Light ever is (L completely writes off Misa's gathering of Higuchi's confession, though to be fair, I think this is mostly because of his pride), even when Light is memory-less and thinks Misa's stalking him.

Good girl
Good girls eat. They finish their plate. They finish everyone else’s plate. They ask for seconds, for dessert, for another side dish.
Good girls make noise. They burp, they fart, they moan they ask. They know that their shame will only hold them back.
Good girls get fat. A good girl can be found in bed surrounded by snack wrappers so blossoming outwards is inevitable.
Good girls are slutty. They show off their bodies in cute clothes and are willing to satisfy every whim.
Good girls are followers, they go with the plan provided. They don’t bat an eye when decisions are made for them.
Good girls are smelly. They fart, they sweat, they skip showers in favour of more time with their partners. They carry the delightful stench of obedience.
Good girls are gross.
Good girls are sweet.
Good girls aren’t afraid of being like an animal.
Be a good girl.
