1991-2000, equivalent to pinestars choice/goosefeathers curse
(everything subject to potential change in the future)
54 notes · View notes
I can see why some people would be uncomfortable with the idea of trans Redtail being Sandstorm's dad, but like
Something about how cis women in wc are restricted from leadership by their ability to have kits but the cis men aren't bc the clans define women by their bodies and how it's used to serve the clans and how the clans expect the mom to do the kit rearing or else she's the worst but the dad can abandon them for all they care and bluestar sacrificing her own kits just to keep a far less worthy tom from obtaining power because he's a tough manly man and she's just a woman and how it haunts her for life and now she has a male deputy who wants to have kits and keep his position but his very nature defies the gender roles the clans box cats into and now the other cats have to confront this fact and they are twisting themselves into knots to justify this shitty normalized norm no matter what they think of redtail's choice and they give two choices but both of them are bad and the real question is do they let go of their prejudice and work with the cat in front of them or do they double down in the name of traditions that don't respect any cat that strays outside their curated binary and bluestar knows how it feels to have to justify yourself to a world that refuses to help you even once but can she trust him with her own darkest secret born from the same prejudices and something something gender binaries are a curse both in and out of universe

More rewrite designs, i just wanted to draw Cinderpelt because she is now very important to the story (hence the blog name)
There’s actually like no difference between my rewrite and designs and my usual ones, i just drew them like that so i can add accesories.

Worldbuilding: Kittypets
In my rewrite, Kittypets are not seen as regular cats, like clan cats or even loners and rogues. They are seen as distinctly non-cat.
They are seen as Fae. The cats, of course, dont know the human word for Fae, but the concept is the same.
Kittypets are considered tricksters by all the clans, some more than others, and those connected to kittypets are untrusted.
The reason why is a few different things.
-If you give them your name, they will replace it ("Oakface is a silly name, i'll just calk you Oak")
-if you spend too long around them, you'll lose your clan name entirely, and if you try return to your clan, you'll never behave the same.
-if you lie to them, every other kittypet will know (and some will hunt you for it)
-if you break a promise, you will be cursed
Over the years, this idea has skewed from generation to generation. As of Arc 1, the cats believe Kittypets have magic, and can do various things, like talking to or commanding dogs, embuing flowers or herbs with powers, and, in some cases, can even curse other cats with misfortune or death.
Fireheart never disputes these claims, Cloudtail actively plays into them, and Scourge unintentionally confirmed the promise one after killing Tigerstar (because he broke an agreement)

Family Tree Base Used
Razorverse!Sandstorm family tree ! I made Tallstar's family sadder. Info/Changes under the cut
Sandgorse:
-Largely the same as he is in canon, except he's held accountable for being a bad father. He does not reconcile with Tallstar, not even in StarClan. Like Rainstar(flower), he doubles down on his actions and refuses to apologize. Tallstar's arc is about realizing he’s never going to win his father’s approval and focusing on the cats who care about him.
-Did make him kinda worse though. He's transphobic to Tallstar. Sorry for putting transphobia in the warriors universe but uhhh. I mean my take on this world is allll about how restrictive and harmful the clans can be and how they need to acknowledge that and change so. Bigotry naturally kinda comes with that.
-Pressures both of his children to be tunnelers and puts their dying legacy on their shoulders. Tallpaw develops claustrophobia, only made worse by Sandgorse. Finchpaw does much better at it and becomes his golden child for a bit, but gives her a perfectionist complex.
-Might have his prefix changed to separate him from Sandstorm more
Palebird:
-Largely the same as in canon, except she doesn't have a litter with Woolytail. She does not want more children.
-She still has ppd and trouble connecting to her children. This is made worse by Sandgorse not being a very good mate to her and dismissing her mental health.
-Taking a page out of For Roads Untraveled's book here, her arc is about how the characters around her, including her mate, dismiss her declining mental health and how that affects her relationship with her kids. She loves them, but she struggles to care for them and be around them. Her only real supports are Brackenwing and Woolytail. Sandgorse holds every favor he does for the family over her head, and to get back at him, asks Heatherstar to make her kits moor runners. This causes a lot of strife for everyone involved, especially when Sandgorse dies on bad terms with them all. Palebird spends years being estranged from her kits, but they finally talk it out and reconcile later in life. She dies peacefully in her sleep.
-Dates Woolytail soon after Sandgorse's death cause she realized that they had more chemistry and respect for one another than she ever had with Sandgorse, who pressured her to give up moor running to be a tunneler with him "if she cared about him".
Tallstar:
-Trans male and gay. Sandgorse is not a fan. Too bad for him. Very briefly T4T with Jake but it doesn't last long- Jake is a kittypet at heart.
-Has claustrophobia and PTSD from the cave in that killed his father.
-More... politically neutral than anything throughout his leadership. He's leery of "outsiders" but doesn't inherently dislike them. He genuinely didn't have much of an issue with Mudclaw's more conservative thinking when he appointed him deputy.
-However, he is more friendly to ThunderClan because of their history. He trusted them enough to allow his niece to be nursed there, and later let his nephew join. He was deeply grateful for their help when they rescued WindClan from exile.
-He had a big change of heart in old age, realizing he has more kin outside of his clan at this point than inside, and the journey especially opens his eyes that the clans bonding together would be more beneficial than not. But by then, it was too late- he ended up hurting more cats than saving by making Onewhisker deputy against the latter's true wishes.
-Has a strained relationship with Onestar in StarClan. Onestar is very bitter over what Tallstar did, and Tallstar wishes he went about his decision differently every day and wants to reconcile with him.
-Misses his ThunderClan kin a lot. His sister's death hit him quite hard as she was his last remaining family.
Finchsong:
-Rescued dead kit... only to die later whoops.
-Very stubborn molly, both a good and bad thing depending on the time. She was always taking risks to do what she thought was right- for example, running into a blocked off tunnel to try and convince Heatherstar to bring back tunneling. Or running away with her brother to find their father's murderer.
-As a kit and apprentice, she was much more insecure. She was briefly Sandgorse's golden child, because she was less "cowardly" than her brother and "more willing to embrace her future". AKA, do what Sandgorse wanted, give up her apprenticeship with no lip, and not complain cause she was afraid of his reaction. She actually did like to tunnel, but Sandgorse took all the joy out of it for her. She just stressed and stressed and stressed over whether she was digging the way Sandgorse wanted her to (even if it didn't suit her) or if Sandgorse was in a bad mood or not. Her relationship with Tallpaw is fractured over this briefly, as she sides with her father and starts begging Tallpaw to "just go with it" so he could be accepted too.
-She doesn't say it, but Sandgorse's death was a relief. She was devastated, she was angry that it happened... but she felt like she could breathe. This made her feel horribly guilty- how could she feel better with her father buried in the earth rather than besides her? It's a big motivator for her joining Talltail on his quest, and when she finally speaks about these feelings to Talltail, it pushes the two of them to process their feelings about their father and helps them reconcile in the long run.
-However, she is still left as a massive perfectionist, to the detriment of herself.
-Bisexual. Sandgorse was not a fan of this either.
-Bonded with Smokemask later in life, and felt very comfortable around him. She felt she could mess up in front of him and not beat herself up over it. She originally wasn't going to have kittens, in fear of restarting the cycle she experienced with her family, but felt confident about having them with Smokemask.
-Unfortunately, Smokemask was slain in a border skirmish with ShadowClan before their second litter was born. The stress of this, as well as the cold season and sickness, left Finchsong weakened, and she didn't survive her kitting, along with two of her kittens.
Smokemask:
-OC character, his parents are filler characters intended to help the gene pool a bit. Born shortly after Tall and Finch, he was mostly just casual friends with them before growing very close to Finchsong later in life.
-He didn't have a lot going on. Go boy give us nothing
-Also bi probably
-Was a more calm and chilled out character than anything to contrast with Finchsong's stressed and stubborn character.
-Was close to his son Longtail.
-Unfortunately died before meeting his second litter in a border skirmish.
Longtail:
-Finch and Smoke's firstborn, he was a single-kit litter. He's only about seven moons older than Sandstorm.
-Might have been in the skirmish that killed his dad. Whoops!
-More trans swag, also aro ace.
-Was devastated when his mother died, as he was very close to her. He was a worrywart over his baby sister, to the point where he was allowed to visit her in ThunderClan and build a relationship with her. He spent a lot of time in the nursery because of this and ended up becoming very good with children. (Minus Firepaw oops)
-When Sandkit wanted to stay in ThunderClan, he was torn. Deciding that he wanted his sister to be happy, but not wanting to be apart from her, he left WindClan so that she'd have some kin over there.
-This does become a point of insecurity for him, however. ThunderClan doubts his loyalty and the older warriors constantly question him when they're at conflict with WindClan. This makes it very easy for him to get sucked up into Tigerclaw's friend group, where he adapts their harmful mindset. He decides that to be a true ThunderClan warrior, he and Sandkit have to renounce their WindClan relation and prove himself by protecting ThunderClan from treacherous outsiders.
-This is part of why he's so antagonistic to Firepaw. He lashes out because this is his chance to prove that he's not like those outsiders. Plus, he feels pretty humiliated being on equal standing with a kittypet. At least HE'S clanborn.
-This gets worse when Sandstorm gets close to Fireheart, he doubles down, but after Tigerclaw's exile, he's thrown head first into what his life will be like if he keeps up his xenophobic beliefs. Slowly, but surely, he tries to patch things up with Fireheart and really empathize with him, realizing they're not so different and opening up to him. Xenophobia loss.
-He gets put through the wringer hard. It's canon compliant from here on out til Swiftpaw's death, which he takes extremely hard. Fireheart, despite their terrible past, is a shoulder for him to lean on during this time. At this point, Sandstorm is pregnant, and Longtail decides to put his faith in Fireheart and follow him.
-After Whitestorm's death, Fireheart makes Longtail deputy. He makes for a good deputy for most of the year, but steps down when he's blinded in the first book of TNP (there's a smaller time gap between TPB and TNP)
-Dotes on Sandstorm's descendants pretty hard
Sandstorm:
-Was the only surviving kit in Finchsong's second litter.
-There were no other queens in the nursery when Sandkit was born, so no one could feed her. Thinking fast, Barkface remembered that one of ThunderClan's mollies had had a litter very recently, and said that Sandkit should be taken there to be fed.
-Her foster siblings were Dustkit and Ravenkit. She grew very close to Dustkit in particular. Dust and Raven's parents are unnamed ThunderClan cats that also happen to die pretty early in their lives.
-Bluestar had agreed to give her back to WindClan when she was weaned, but Sandkit cried and cried and clung to her foster mother when the time came. She didn't want to leave the forest, not her mother or Dustkit. Tallstar tried to make her come back... but quickly realized that he would just be making her miserable, thinking back to his brief romance with Jake, where the latter was clearly miserable living as a wild cat full time. Knowing that ThunderClan's numbers had been cut down harshly after their recent plague and that Bluestar was worried about their population, Tallstar agreed to allow Sandkit to be a ThunderClan cat.
-Growing up, however, she definitely felt her clanmates' judgement for not being born in ThunderClan. Even her best friend Dustpaw seemed to agree that while she was a good friend, it made sense that not everyone trusted her for not being born there. Similar to Longtail, her hostility to other clan cats and Firepaw stemmed from this insecurity.
-Loved her older brother a lot and admired him. She was very offended that he lost to Firepaw, which made her resent him even more as an apprentice.
-She was horrified when WindClan was driven out, however.
-When Fireheart, Graystripe, Whitestorm, and Tigerclaw are sent to find WindClan, Sandpaw follows them, outraged that the kittypet was sent to find them instead of her. Fireheart and Graystripe bicker with her, asking why she was bothering with the journey. At first, she refuses to tell them the real reason, embarrassed at what Fireheart may say about her heritage. But when Sandpaw nearly gets hit by a monster on the large thunderpath, Fireheart saves her, hurting himself in the process.
-As he's nursed back to health, Sandpaw stiffly thanks him for saving her. The two of them nearly bicker again, but it actually ends up being a nice enough conversation. Sandpaw finally tells Fireheart about her WindClan family, and how she felt out of place in ThunderClan sometimes because of it. And Fireheart... actually finds a bit of comfort in that, knowing that someone else felt the same pressure he did to prove themself. The two of them realize they have far more in common and Sandpaw gives him a thorough apology for how she treated him when he was an apprentice.
-When they find WindClan, she feels very awkward, but Uncle Tallstar is exceedingly happy to see her. He immediately trusts the ThunderClan patrol because of her presence. The two of them bond throughout the journey back home, Sandpaw feeling encouraged by Fireheart to reach out to her uncle and not renounce a relationship with him entirely.
-Despite running away, Whitestorm encourages Bluestar to make Sandpaw a warrior after the journey.
-There's a pretty big shift in the original five apprentice group dynamic after this. Graystripe pulls away due to his relationship with Silverstream, and Fireheart ends up leaning more on Sandstorm. Sandstorm ends up feeling more comfortable around Fireheart than around Dustpelt, who spends more time parroting Tigerstar these days and making her feel like there are strings attached to their friendship. Fireheart never made her feel like she had to pretend to be someone she wasn't, and she ended up loving his thoughtful and determined nature. Her friendship with Dustpelt implodes when she snaps at him for making a cruel joke about WindClan, and though they reconcile later when Dustpelt gets better, they are never that close ever again.
-She and Fireheart get together in Rising Storm, and their first litter (Squirrelkit/Leafkit) is born in The Darkest Hour. A couple of moons after The Last Hope, Sandstorm has their second litter (Sparkkit/Dandelionkit)

A Starless Clan: an idea!
----
I saw a post the other day saying something about Wind and how WindClan probably won't be important. So, I got to thinking..
I could have protags in every Clan! Now, It would get difficult but, how it might work: The book with the Clan name (ex. River) will have a RiverClan protag throughout the whole book. The protags from the other Clans will still be important characters and will be shown many times!
Possible protags for the books:
RiverClan -> Frostpaw
ThunderClan -> Nightheart
WindClan -> Whistlepaw
ShadowClan -> Spireclaw or Sunbeam
SkyClan -> Needleclaw?
Now of course that's just possible options, I'm gonna make OCs and they might take some of those cats places!
Two more ideas I thought of:
This arc will be more that six books, I don't know how long I'll make it at the moment. I feel like this arc shouldn't be wrapped up so quickly, maybe ten books? I might also do the same with other arcs, make them longer or shorter!
2. After the defeat of Splashtail, RiverClan is left leaderless yet again. No cat really steps up, so Mothwing does! Mothwing becomes leader!

Maple Arc
Mapleshade's arc is a lot more politically motivated and complex than in the original.
Mapleshade's family descends from the original settlers, as does Oakfell's. At this point, the Thunder Champions and the Beach Rafters have been waring for a long time and Starwalker Oakfell is very keen on securing his legacy. Oakfell has two (legal) children with his wife, Sweetbriar. A single daughter, Kindlingwish, and a child, Birchface. Starwalker Oakfell basically wants to hook his kids up with a cat that'll give them stronger genes (stronger to him). Mapleshade is picked by Oakfell to be Birchface's mate and heavily pressured into it. Mapleshade is a very daring cat, a peak Thunder Champion and her only remaining family is her grandmother who is too old to be having kittens. Mapleshade and Birchface are good as friends, but aren't interested in each other that way. They both learn that, ironically, they both have mates in the Beach Rafter colony. They bond over this and decide to keep it their little secret and cover for each other. Kindlingwish on the other hand as her heart set on a cat her father disapproves of. Vipergrass has mostly kittypet/loner ancestry. Oakfell continues to push his daughter towards marrying Thrushtalon, who has 'better' lineage. When Mapleshade gets pregnant with Appledusk's kits, Birchface agrees to cover as the kits' father. The night before another battle, Birchface is going on a small walk with his mate, Saltswim and learns from them that Appledusk has been courting a cat named Reedshine behind Mapleshade's back. Angered and wanting to defend his friend, Birchface aims to get Appledusk alone so he can tell Appledusk he knows his little game and to apologize to Mapleshade. Appledusk realizes that he's in trouble and out of panic more than anything kicks Birchface into the rapids, which kills him and his young apprentice, Flowerpaw. Mapleshade hears of Birchface's death and is heartbroken. Birchface never got to tell her what he knew. Mapleshade keeps meeting Appledusk in secret who recounts the whole thing as an accident, that Birchface had slipped and hit his face against the slick rocks, crashing into the river. Mapleshade believes him and has his kits shortly after, passing them off as Birchface's kits.
When the kittens can barely walk, they pass as Birchface's kits easily. Especially Larchkit and Petalkit, while Patchkit is a 'mini mapleshade'. However as they grow, something is off about them. Ravenwing gets requested (read demanded) to do a summoning for Oakfell. Birchface refuses to answer and other cats appear instead, dark spirits that send Ravenwing the omen that Mapleshade's kits are half-colony cats. Not only that, but their true father is Birchface's murderer.
Mapleshade is forced to stay in the nursery to receive her punishment. Her grandmother, Fennelbush, her old mentor Bloomheart, and the deputy, Beestinger. Starwalker Oakfell catches on quick though and to save his conspirators Beestinger takes the blame and is executed. Loyal followers of Starwaker Oakfell (and those afraid of him), chase mapleshade and her kits, hunting them down. It blocks off Mapleshade's escape to anywhere except the Beach Rafters. A storm has brewed through all this and the rivers have turned to rapids. With no other choice, Mapleshade tries to get her kits across, but she and her babies are knocked into the water.
Nearby a Beach Rafter patrol, gathering supplies before the storm gets too bad, hear something going on. Even though Starwalker Darklightening had put propaganda through all her colony's heads, several cats were still firm believers in the 'Life Law'. Two important cats in the patrol are Eeldive who rescued Mapleshade from the water when the actual rescuers wouldn't, and Saltswim, Birchface's mate who had been mourning in silence and guilt, chases after Mapleshade's kits. Eeldive convinces the others to take Mapleshade to the colony and sadly, Saltswim comes back with the dead kittens, Mapleshade crumbles as her life falls apart, only for salt to be rubbed in her wounds when Appledusk proclaims he never loved her, when Saltswim spills his secret. Reedshine, Appledusk's legal mate is so horrified by her colony's treatment of Mapleshade and her mate, that she renounces their mateship then and there. Eeldive, Saltswim, and Reedshine all care and try to protect Mapleshade, when eventually Starwalker Darklightening states that basically Mapleshade is banished.
They continue to care for her in secret as Mapleshade finds her way around to the barn where Myler lives. Myler agrees to house Mapleshade. Eeldive Reddshine and Mapleshade slowly get closer, but Reedshine is pregnant. Maple and her sort of. both know its appledusk's but dont mention it out loud due to the pain of it. Grieving still, Mapleshade tries to sneak to Moonstone to contact Birchface or her kittens or, anyone really. She runs into Ravenwing, who threatens her, but when he mentions her kits in a bad way, Mapleshade attacks him. It's the biggest taboo of all the colonies to attack a healer. Mapleshade had no intention of killing him, but the battle escalates and Ravenwing ends up dead. Mapleshade is badly startled by this and combined with her nightmares she starts not eating or drinking, which leads to her hallucinating.
Later Mapleshade stumbles into Kindlingwish sort of by accident while trying to sneak over to pay respects at Birchface's grave. They get into a small argument which Kindlingwish turns into a physical fight as her grief overwhelms her. By accident, Kindlingwish is bitten by an adder and a scared, confused Mapleshade hears a patrol coming, leaving Kindlingwish to be found and having the patrol see her running from the scene of the crime.
Kindlingwish survives with some lifelong issues and dives into her bitterness, marrying Thrushtalon to please her father and having one kit, Pinefall (named after her father somewhat). She remains bitter and claims to her death that Mapleshade had tried to kill her. meanwhile back into time where Mapleshade is running away, she finds Eeldive who states Reedshine has started to go into labor. Mapleshade rushes to her and helps with her kitting. Soon after, Appledusk decides he's pissed and bitter and gathers supports to 'return reedshine' who he states had been kidnapped by Maple, Eel, Salt, and Myler. he plans on basically forcing Reedshine to come back with him and re-marry him at any cost. A battle breaks out, ending with Mapleshade killing Appledusk and chasing the battle party off. For awhile, Maple, Salt, Reed, and Myler (and Myler's husband) raise the kits and live as barncats/loners. later when Starwalker Darklightening dies, (probably to battle?) the next leader invites the group to return and live in the Beach Rafters colony were previous transgressions would be forgotten. After heavy debate they agree and eventually Maple, Eel, and Reed become wives. Though Mapleshade is haunted deeply by what happened and even at her death, the story around her has shapeshifted over the years.

Housefire AU, Information: Cars/Monsters
Kittypets have a far better relationship with the vehicles that the Clan-cats as we all know, but what is their opinion on these large metal beasts?
Tumblr media
Cars have many different names and some kittypets have their own theories on them, below will be the most common names and descriptions of the vehicles. The Shell Theory: Most common with kittypets who live near junk yards or have humans who are extra crafty, believe that the car is a large bug or crustacean and the metal that protects the engine and other parts of the car is a shell, that can be taken on and off with help of the humans. (Usually when referring to the shell changing, they may actually mean the paint of the car) Names: Giant Crab, Large Hermitcrab, The Traveling Crab, Road Bug & The Stonepath bug
The Equine Theory: You'll more likely hear this theory with Barn-cats or cats that live in the farmlands, there's a theory that these metallic creatures are just large horses, wearing a hard cloth to keep them safe. Names: The Giantess Horse, Mother Equine & Iron Horse
The Species Theory: This one has currently been going around the town lately, some cats are starting to believe that the car is actually a formerly rare species now more common than ever due to breeding, not many beliefs on this theory are shared here. Some believe that bikes are newborn cars and others believe that vehicles like trucks are the strongest of the litters of these beasts. Names: Metal beasts, Giants, The Migrating Quadruped

hmm something something wc au where rusty took the name Rustpaw bc he still cares about his friends and family back home, even tho he lives with the clans now
something something Rustfire is a rad ass warrior name
something something he goes to the Moonstone, fully ready to embrace his life as Ruststar
some something where Starclan names him Firestar, declaring him "finally free of the chains of his kittypet past"
something where Firestar Rustfire is personally betrayed by the gods he was taught to worship and trust.

An idea about Whistlepaw's naming cerenony
I've just thought about this so bare with me:
So I've been debating what Whistlepaw's full herbalist name should be... Until I had a devious little idea...
(this is a sort-of snippet?? This rewrite is still in the planning stages so um. things might change)
Whistlepaw was nervous, yet excited about FINALLY getting her full name. She had been waiting for what seemed like years.
Kestrelwing stands in front of her, announcing her new status as a full-herbalist to the spirits of the moors.
Kestrelwing looks proudly down at Whistlepaw, who had been fidgeting during the whole speech.
"Are you ready?" He whispers, his voice as gentle as the breeze.
Whistlepaw looks up at Kestrelwing, hesitating for a moment... before nodding. "Yes. I am."
Kestrelwing smiles. "Then you shall recieve your full-name as Whistlesong, named after your special connection with the spirits that whisper to you--"
"Actually," Whistlepaw surprisingly interrupts. "I... would like to pick my own suffix."
Kestrelwing widens his eyes, tipping his head. "...Okay, you have my permission." He finally says, intrigued.
Whistlepaw sighs, clearing her throat before finally pouring out all of the words she'd been wanting to say after that whole debacle...
"I... I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for me---for putting up with me, for letting me be your apprentice---and I know you've picked this name out since I trained under your wing... but after everything that has happened... I don't think I can have that as my name..."
Whistlepaw swallows, remembering her time in WindClan with her friend... Frostpaw. She remembers everything they've fought through, being by eachother's side... She can't just forget all of that.
She wants to remember it forever.
"...I'd like to change my name to Whistlefrost."
----------------------------------------------
So uh... That's my take on her ceremony !! I hope you like it, I've been trying to decide her name for WEEKS so uhhh. im happy

Some ideas for my rewrite. Wanted to add something a lil extra so they have a bunch of accesories.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first ones are their gathering design, the leaders wear their clans headpiece and also their unique leader mark.
The second ones only have their death charms, i don’t remember who came up with the idea but they wear things on their pelt to remember dead loved ones, you get a digital cookie if you can figure out who the charms represent.
I had to draw them with realistic proportions because i could not put that many details on my artstyle and get away with it. Fire is actually supposed to have a badge for one of his titles, but i haven’t designed them yet.
I have my regular designs and artstyle on my main wv blog @mist-dancing i hope you enjoy these designs, and if you’re curious about my rewrite feel free to ask questions.

Dying Apprentice Ceremony
This ceremony is rare to come across, and one no leader ever wishes to perform. However, all cats have the right to perform this ceremony, if a leader is not present.
This ceremony gives a dying apprentice their warrior name, regardless of age, of which they are recognised by in Starclan.
Not every apprentice gets this ceremony, not even most, but there have been cases of this ceremony being used.
Sweetflower's ceremony, performed by Sunstar, though she just barely survived
Badgerfang's ceremony, performed by Flintfang during the siege of Windclan camp, named after his mentor.
Ravenfern's ceremony, performed by Greystripe in the barn, named for his sister.
Splashstream's ceremony, performed by Leopardstar during the clans arrival at the lake, named after her brother.
And, of course, Losthope and Dogbite's ceremony, performed by Bluestar after the dog maul, and historically considered one of cruelest apprentice ceremonies in recent times. But, as all cats know, they both survived and were correctly renamed to Brightheart and Swiftheart, named after eachother.
After Bluestar's actions, it was agreed upon by starclan and the clan medicine cats that this ceremony can be overturned if the name is deemed cruel. She was not the first cat to use this ceremony in such way, but the time before her's was lost to time, and faded from the clans' memory before she was even born.
Of course, there are some that remember, but their spirits aren't on the starry side of the borders.
