before we begin with the polls, lets design some cats! Comment, message, ask, or tag me with your favourite design headcanon for any of these cats:
Bluestar, Redtail, Spottedleaf Lionheart, Tigerclaw, Whitestorm, Darkstripe, Longtail, Runningwind, Willowpelt, Mousefur Dustpaw, Graypaw, Ravenpaw, Sandpaw Frostfur (Brightkit, Cinderkit, Brackenkit, Thornkit), Brindleface, Goldenflower (Swiftkit), Speckletail Halftail, Smallear, Patchpelt, One-eye, Dappletail, Rosetail
this can include pelt color, cat breed, pelt markings, eye colour, non-canon disabilities, fur decorations, fur lengths, or stuff like heterochromia, vitiligo, polydactylism, etc.
If there is not a design aspect for a cat entered, i will go off the canonical descriptions.
When a litter is born, i will make another post asking for headcanons for their designs. i will note any ash, fern, elder, or tulip comments, but will not design them until they are born.
have fun, dont be crowfood about other people's headcanons.

Introduction Post (+ Explaining Concept)
I'm Tanner, i use he/they/it, and this is my sideblog! my main is @wildshadowtamer and my rewrite sideblog is @wc-wild-rewrite
What Is This Blog For?
I wanted to make an AU where the viewers (you guys) decide how events go down. From If a death happens, to if a cat joins, you guys can dictate the entire thing, and even send me ideas for directions for it to go in!
Content warnings for the warrior cats typical content like murder, animal death, kit death, etc.
The Family Trees
for the sake of the genetic line of Thunderclan, we will be initially working with a barebones Arc 1 family tree. As in, nobody who isnt directly stated to be family or mates in the first arc. Ya'll will get to decide their relationships and family ties, but if these cats get inbred, that'll be ya'lls fault.
To keep up with the relationships, the familyecho tree is > Here
Things I Will Not Allow
Incest (second cousins are allowed because i can only make these bastards so unrelated after a certain point)
Pedophilia (especially relationships where one is still an apprentice when they become mates. if both parties are over 12 moons but have a significant age gap, i will go on a case by case basis)
Mentor-apprentice relationships (its just weird, i will try to move mentors around to avoid such a thing if a ship like onewhisker x whitetail is chosen)
Abelism (canonically disabled cats will still become/stay disabled, just likely in a different way than canon. i will not kill cats off just for being disabled.)
Misogyny/sexism (i dont think i have to state that i wont kill cats off just for being women, but considering the authors of the books have before, i just want to make sure we're on the same page)
Homophobia (this includes trying to ship a canonically gay character with someone who does not fit their attraction. if the character has no canonical or previously established on this blog sexuality or orientation, they are free to ship with anyone.)
Transphobia (trans characters will be headcanoned as such due to canonical backing or just because i like it, not for stereotyping or to make them pregnant. trans male pregnancies may occur, however)

The Lake Journey vs The Ocean Journey
i wanted to make a post detailing the differences between the two journeys, the first in Arc 2 and the second in Arc 4.5
The Lake Journey
the journey to the lake is a hard, but optimistic event. the adults, who have spent their entire lives in the forest, are obviously traumatised from having to leave their birth homes, and some having to leave their parents behind, while the apprentices and kits are excited for a journey. there's bonding, sharing of cultures, many apprentices are made warriors during this, and some of them begin life long friendships with the other clans.
When they get to the lake, their amazed and fascinated by the sheer difference in the wildlife, discovering dozens of prey- mostly birds- that they've never seen before. It was particularly exciting for the Queens, who got a whole ton of new prefixes to use for their kits. Adjusting to their new territories wasn't as hard as they expected, except for Shadowclan, who went from a starving marshland to a prey-filled pine forest. Prey was plentiful when they arrived, and aside from the Mudclaw Civil War Incident, there was more peace than the clans had seen in a long time.
Of course, tragedy did strike, with the death of Cinderspark and Sootfur during the Badger Attack, but for the most part, things were good.
The Ocean Journey
The journey to the Ocean, on the other hand, was a desperate, tiring experience. They had even less choice with where they were going this time, not having the time to send a group ahead to scout for a proper territory. They initially went back to the Forest- but that was completely destroyed, and only made the older warriors and elders more upset about losing yet another home. Sorrowful, quiet stories were shared about the forest, before they had to continue onwards, pick a direction, and keep walking.
Starclan had left them by that point, too injured by the battle with the Dark Forest to contact them. Jayfeather and Hollyleaf were the ones to lead the journey, the rest of them too tired or injured to lead. Brackenstar couldn't risk his health, as with no starclan, he never got the other 8 lives, and he hadn't picked a deputy in moons. It's not as if the stars could approve.
Grief was a heavy thing during this journey, dozens of cats had died during and in the moon after the fight. litters of kits were born stillborn, the first cases of such in Jayfeather's lifetime, and a barrage of predator attacks and water poisonings had killed off some of their best warriors. Most of the clans were injured, in one way or another, but they couldn't afford to stay at the Lake for any longer, so they walked, or were carried, or were dragged on sleds. There was bonding, in a way, but not the light hearted bonding that came with the Lake Journey, this was a bonding over trauma, over the horror they had witnessed. They had only been at the Lake for 4 generations, maybe less, it was a jarring experience to still have living cats who remembered being apprenticed in the Forest.
Except for Firestar, of course. He had been one of the casulaties of the initial fight, he hadn't lived to see the aftermath. Thunderclan missed him deeply, but none of them wanted him to bear witness to such a tragedy. But he wasn't gone, not entirely, as Sandstorm was carrying his kits. She only found out after he was gone.
Settling into the ocean territory was far more of an adjustment, Shadowclan was now back in a marshland, but those that remembered living in the Forest knew they'd starve far before anything else could kill them, so they went inwards, they claimed a cave system as most of their territory, the marshland only a mouth to it. a true Shadow now.
Riverclan went from grassland and rivers to a beach with rockpools, a jarring and completely new habitat that had animals the clans had never witnessed before. They had to completely change their hunting techniques, as ocean hunting was nothing like the rivers they were used to.
Thunderclan went from mostly oak to mostly birch, not a huge difference, but it was just similar enough to the Forest camp that the senior warriors were unable to settle for a long while. the remaining Frostthree kept swearing they could see their sister relearning how to walk in the clearing, Sandstorm couldn't shake the image of her father's body at the entrance, and Greystripe held back tears as he told stories of training alongside Firepaw and Ravenpaw. Dovewing left for Shadowclan, causing yet another reminder of the Forest.
Windclan was now in a human-planted flower field, compared to their dry heath and moorland. It was certainly a brighter enviroment, but they too adjusted to an underground camp, in the weaving tunnels under their territory. There were no cats left who remembered the days of Heatherstar and the original Tunnelers, though Onestar had tried valiantly to bring them back, as per Tallstar's last wish. Harestar had to work even harder to prove herself as a trustworthy cat, after her training in the Dark Forest.
Although the clans found a spot where the moon was well reflected in the puddles of a small cave, Starclan was unresponsive, and so nobody really went to it. Only Hollyleaf did.
But then, things got worse, as the Six lost their powers, at the same time, on the same day, with no warning. Dovewing was listening in on an apprentice ceremony in Windclan when everything went silent, and she realised she couldn't hear anything. Breezepelt was in the middle of a rant to Heathertail when his throat closed up. Lionblaze was helping with some heavy items when he suddenly collapsed to the ground, barely able to pick himself up. Raven and Bracken were finishing their nests in the abandoned twolegplace when they both fell severely ill, in opposite ways. Bracken ran burning hot, as Raven froze to the bone. It was only because Hollyleaf was on her way to check on them that they survived.
Hollyleaf herself didn't notice it, initially, as her powers are based on being around people, so travelling to the abandoned twolegplace on her own hid the loss of her powers until she found Raven and Bracken. And when she realised her powers were not responding, and neither were theirs, thats when she found out. Jayfeather also struggled to notice, until Lionblaze tried to tell him that he was okay after his collapse, and Jayfeather's lie detection didn't go off. It was only then did he realise he could only feel his own emotions, nobody else's were smothering him like normal. He hated that he didn't feel relieved.
Now, i havent decided if Ivypool gets powers too, or from the same place, but if she does, she is sleeping when it happens. When she is woken up in a panic by her clanmates- because of Jay and Lion's powers vanishing- she does not recognise them. she does not remember them. her power was a perfect memory, so without it, she develops some version of amnesia. Perhaps not permenant, but long-lasting enough that it seriously alters her life. She also exhausts far easier, her enhanced speed completely gone, replaced with bone-deep exhaustion most of the time.
The clans found this to be the worst part of it. Their star-given heroes, the prophecy cats that just saved the clans, were powerless. To say the clans panicked would be an understatement. They knew the stars were gone, but to revoke the powers of a prophecy already fufilled? the stars were not just gone, they had abandoned them. Night fell on that fateful day, and the sky was pitch black. the stars were gone.
And thats where Flamespring's story begins, born three dark, starless nights after.

are Thunderclan, Shadowclan, Windclan, and Riverclan the only clans? is Skyclan still in this rewrite? I always liked the idea of there being more than just the five.
i can't say i have a concrete answer, but clan-like groups of cats exist outside of the four, yes
Bloodclan, replacing Skyclan, is the biggest example of this. Having technically existed in a loose sense way before Scourge, he was the one to refine it into more of a clan-like thing.
There's also the Tribe, who aren't a clan but are the other best example of a group with a specific goverment like a clan.
However, there's also The Mercats, a small group of cats on the beach where Midnight lives who are descended from a crashed merchant ship. Their name is a butchering of Mermaid, a word they likely heard often from their sailoring twolegs, before the crash. They still live in the shipwrecked remains that are on the beach, but they never had contact with the forest clans until The New Prophecy when the nine or so journey cats came looking for midnight.
In the lake territories, the forest clans find evidence of past clans living there, long gone, though through moving or extinction they don't know. They likely find similar, though lower scale, evidence in the Ocean Territories.
And, of course, the various rogue groups, kittypet circles, and travelling/trading loners that they come across.
There's also The Guardians and The Sisters, though i'm not sure if i'm going to include them at all. I haven't gotten around to suffering through their respective side books, so i can't say if i'm invested enough in them to bother.

whats the history of the clans? did thunderstar, shadowstar, etc still found them?
Great question, my friend. The full history of all of them in one post would be a lot, so, for now, lets just cover Thunderclan
The Mythology
As most cultures do, Thunderclan has various myths and oral stories passed down through generations telling how the clans came to be. Thunderclan, specifically, is said to have been formed initially as Lionclan.
Now, a bit of actual real world history here, New Forest National Park- the southern english place that the forest territories are based off of- were originally the homeland of early Anglo-Saxon tribal groups, but it was then proclaimed a royal forest by William the Conquerer in 1079, first recorded being called Nova Foresta in 1086. It only actually became a site of scientific interest in 1971, becoming a National Park in 2005.
All that to say, it's been around for a long damn time. And the cats know of this, they don't have a concept of human years, but they say Lionclan was around 'before Starclan', meaning Lionclan predates their current concept of modern cat ancestors.
In their mythos, Lionclan was a proud, strong clan of massive, mane-bearing cats that hunted in groups and had a singular leader, with a roar capable of being heard by every other clan, no matter where they were. They hunted large prey, like deer and boar, on their own, something that a modern cat thunderclan cat can only take down with the help of an entire patrol.
It's an understatement to say Thunderclan is still a proud clan, and they take much, much pride in occasionally still looking like the Lions that they came from. Lionheart, Sunstar, Cricketsun, and Lionblaze are the best examples of this.
According to their stories, however, Lionclan eventually grew smaller in size, as twolegs moved in more heavily than before, and the large prey they hunted became more and more scarce, being hunted by twolegs instead. This is what they consider to be the beginning of 'Thunderclan' and the Modern Cats.
(Dawn Of The Clans as an arc did not happen. I refuse to acknowledge it as a canonical part of this story, so im making up my own.)
They called the founder of Thunderclan 'Thunderstar' not because it was his name, but because of the lightning-shaped scar across his face, a mark of his survival against a massive beast. He was said to be cat-sized but distinctly Lion in appearance, and led his clan well, despite a series of tragedies that led to his early leadership.
When he died sacrificing his life for his clan, they created the Thunderclan Sigil- the cat outline with the lightning bolt- in honor of him. He still exists in Starclan, as his clan remembers him fondly. It is rumored that Sunstar was the last descendant of Thunderstar, though of course nobody can confirm that.
The True History
Now, we get to the truth of the matter. Lionclan, very simply, did not exist. The most truth to it is likely a group of zoo or perhaps circus lions escaped a long time ago, and oral tale of the nearby housecats became fantastical after so long.
The Prophecy Begins is set somewhere around 2009, i'd say. The clans were founded probably at the turn of the century, in 1900 or just before. Long enough that it seems ancient to clan cats, but not nearly old compared to literally any human civilization.
Thunderstar was not a 'small lion', but instead a Maine Coon. The Clans were not, in fact, descended from big cats at all, but instead the result of kittypets escaping their owners and becoming feral.
In fact, Thunderstar was not his name whatsoever. His scar was true, though, he did have a lightning-shaped scar across his face, but it was caused by a fox, not some mysterious beast. His true name has been lost to time, but he was not, at any point, called the suffix '-star', as the use of 'star' to designate the leader didn't happen until about 2 leaders later.
He was Thunder's Rule, King of Thunderclan. A King who's bloodline continued ruling until his grandson stepped down and put in the deputy and -star concepts.
It is true that Sunstar is a very distant descendant of him, but his bloodline survived, through Featherwhisker. The medicine cat who got away with breaking code, by having a daughter. Willowpelt and her lineage are the last line of Thunderstar, though i haven't decided wether that gets lost to time or Jayfeather manages to figure it out during his ghost walks. Either way, as of Arc 7, the most recent Thunderkin are Greykit, Bristlekit, and Stemkit.
Thunderstar is still very much alive and well in Starclan, though he keeps to the edges of the territory because he's still salty he lost his bloodline's "right" to the leadership of thunderclan. If he could contact his relatives, he'd be hounding them to get the title back. And it might even work, but the rest of the leaders since his reign stop him from trying.
Unfortunately, his kits and grandson have been forgotten and faded out of starclan, as the 'rulers to star' distinction was never made in their mythos.
In terms of how well he ruled... well, his clan thrived, that was for sure. Unfortunately that was because of the sneaky, tricking ways he fought his wars, and the fact he might have commited a regicide or two to keep 'unhelpful' people out of his way. But Thunderclan doesn't remember that part, they only care about the fact he 'led his clan to success', no matter how much bloodshed was caused by it.

Firestar's Family Tree by Arc 7! (This may change)
Needless to say, Firestar's kittypet gene of Big Litters carried over. That and Clan culture really likes naming after dead people.
The color coding for the clans is based off what they are currently in or were in during their death, not birth clan.
Changes to canon under the cut, and some explanations:
Relation Changes: -Breezepelt is part of Lion, Jay, and Holly's litter, alongside his no-longer-dead littermates, Raven and Bracken. -Dovewing and Ivypool are now Hollyleaf's kits, as Cloudtail's side of the family do not count as Firekin in Starclan's eyes (Fireheart gave up family rights to Brindleface) -Dewnose now has Myrtlebloom and Bayshine without a recognised mother, for bloodline's sake -Dustpelt and Sandstorm are now siblings, and Redtail & Runningwind are their dads -Cloudspeckle is now the adoptive mother of Redtail and Spottedcloud -Rainstorm and Mintfur are actually Rainwhisker's, but are raised by Reedwhisker -Spiderleg and Shrewfeather are Ferncloud's only kits, who she had without a disclosed father
Name Changes: -Crowfeather is now Crowstorm, as Stormfur was the prophecy cat and not Feathertail -Feather Of Flying Hawk is now Storm (That Hawk Flies Through), in memory of Stormfur -Nightheart is now Nightshade, and was born Nightkit -Sparkpelt is now Sparkfire -Spottedleaf's name has been changed to Spottedcloud, as she does not become a medicine cat -Crookedstar has been changed to Stormstar -Halftail and One-eye have been changed to Sparrowpelt and Whitespark -Tommy and Filou have the warrior names of Sparrowstalk and Paleflame -Shrewpaw survives, and takes the name of Shrewfeather in honor of the quail he tried to catch -Scourge has the warrior name of Icefang, and had a litter with Mossheart, who survives -Ivypool becomes Ivystar at the end of A Broken Code
New Characters: -Lionheart's litter has been fused together into Sorrelsong, Snapwhisker, and Hollyspot. -Jayfeather now has a litter with Briarlight, and took in a litter of two from Kestrelflight -Alderheart has a litter with Puddleshine and Fidgetflake -Firestar and Sandstorm have a litter shortly after Firestar's death -Shrew and Squirrel had another litter -Harper is added into Jake's litter, and has two litters of his own -Stripe is added into Crystal's litter
Memorial Namings: -Sparrowstalk after Mocha's warrior name, Sparrowpounce -Spottedcloud after her mother, Cloudspeckle -Blueflower after her mother, Moonflower -Snowstorm after her father, Stormtail -Whitestorm after his mother, Snowstorm -Stormfur after his grandfather, Stormstar, and his uncle, Stormkit -Feathertail after her great-grandfather, Featherwhisker -Flamespring after his father, Firestar -Rainstorm after his father, Rainwhisker -Crowstorm after his friend, Stormfur -Lark after their granduncle, Larkkit -Storm after their uncle, Stormfur, their great-grandfather, Stormstar, and their granduncle, Stormkit -Roseleaf after her cousin, Hollyleaf -Jayleap after his cousin, Jayfeather -Dandelionburr after her aunt, Dandelionkit -Rowankit after his grandmother, Rowanclaw -Bristlekit after his cousin, Bristlefrost -Stemkit after his father, Stemleaf -Graykit after his great-grandfather, Graystripe

sorry if you've stated this before, but do you plan to do A Starless Clan?
honestly, i'm not sure. Previously, if you had asked this, i would've given a resounding no, but i'm getting attached to frostpaw and i do like the concept of the riverclan murder mystery.
no doubt i'll probably only use the frame of the arc and make something new out of it, cuz god knows this arc is a mess, but i'm a long ways off needing to plan it out anyway
so, to answer, idk maybe

Ok so, we have a tie! I'm going to go with Hollyleaf out of the two, as it requires less plot shuffling, because god knows ive shuffled this thing around enough already
ok, so it occured to me that i have a plot hole. In the first arc, fireheart gives up family rite of Cloudkit to Brindleface, making brindle's family cloud's family in the eyes of Starclan. however, this now means ivy and dove wouldn't fit the kin of your kin thing. so, i need to change their parentage.
Reasonings for options under the cut
Jayfeather has so many kits later on so he can't have any more.
Lionblaze's six were fused into three so he could be an option, but i don't want both jay and lion to have a ton of kits
Hollyleaf has no kits, perhaps she has them in the tunnels? i refuse to do fallenholly, but maybe their cinderheart's? will have to adjust things if its her
Breezepelt. he'll still have his canon 4 daughters way later, but maybe he has 6 daughters. but again, shit ton of kits for one guy.
Raven or Bracken's, the other two parts of the power of six (eight, counting ivy and dove), who are loners raised by sol
or one of Scourge's four kits, though i have kits prepared for them already, i could probably fit those two in
There are technically other options, but those are stretches at best and acrobatic feats at worst

Could we get any information about crowfeather and his family or story? Does he go on the journey in arc 2 at all?
He does! Although, he's not the prophecy cat, that would be his mentor Gorseflame. He tags along because Gorse got him as an apprentice like a week before the journey and he doesnt want him to fall behind on training. Or worse, be trained by someone else.
His family, however, is an...interesting group.
You've got his father, Darksong, a well respected deputy who retires just before the clans leave, and survives til just after onestar takes over. You've got his mother, Ashfoot, daughter of Shadowclan Elder Ashfeather (Ashfur in the books, the one who helps yellowfang), and also a respected windclan deputy.
There's his littermates, Eaglepaw and Hillpaw, who are the first to die from the poisoned rabbits, and who don't live who see their brother come home. There's Downkit too, the older sibling who died less than a moon from becoming an apprenticr.
Then, there's his mates. Well, two crushes and tepwo mates. During the journey, he has a crush on both Feathertail and Stormfur, and they are how he figured out he was Bi. Stormfur, however, dies to the Sharptooth, and Feathertail is a lesbian who stays in the mountains, so their off the table. Instead, he ends up with Leafpool after bonding with her during her work curing the poisoned rabbit situation.
This, of course, ends when Thunderclan is attacked and Cinderspark, Leafpool's auntie, dies, devastating her. Little do they know that that day was the concievement day, give or take.
While Leafpool is pregnant and trying to hide it, Crow is in Windclan being mated to a cat he doesnt love due to clan pressure. His father has just died, and his siblings not long before, leaving him as the only child of two deputies, one from a well respected windclan line. So, he's mated to Nightcloud. However, they struggle to concieve, so when Leafpool shows up at the border and tells him shes pregnant, he makes a plan. And Leafpool adds on to the plan with an old story she heard.
So, when the kits are born and old enough to walk, she and squilf take half of them to the border, in late leafbare. They get them to the border, hand over the three they agreed on, and Leafpool leaves to go nurse the remaining three.
Crowfeather tries to walk his three back to camp, but two of them collapse from the cold, and he's forced to leave them behind as he rushes back to camp to save the remaining one. When cats ask where he got the kit from, he says its his and nightcloud's, cant you see the kit, its as pitch black as they are. Cats are, of course, suspicious of this, but whenever anyone asks after that, crowfeather just looks away with the shake of a head and sorrowful look.
Part of it is true, of course. He grieves his kits, naturally, but some of it is just to keep cats off his back. Meanwhile, in Thunderclan, Squirrelflight acts distraught as her kits went missing. This is pinned on Hawkfrost rather fast, but that's a different story.
From here, i'm not sure how exactly things go, especislly not from crow's perspective. In the books, he's emotionally and physically abusive to his wife and son, which tumblr user Bonefall has made some very good posts recently detailing the extent of. I want to keep this. Somehow, some way, he ends up abusive and outright bitter.
One thing i know for sure, though, is that breezepelt does not follow this behaviour when he has kits himself. By the time he's had kits, he's learnt, and gotten better, and gotten help. He is a good mate to Heathertail (who is not even vaguely related to him) and an adoring father to his daughters.
Nightcloud also gets a good ending, too, as she ends up leaving and publically calling out crowfeather for his actions, and shames windclan for letting it happen. She gets a genuine apology from Harestar for letting his actions slide. I'm not sure if she leaves windclan for a time, but eventually, she ends up with Leafpool. Its shaky, at first, of course it is, thats her ex-husbands ex-wife, but eventually she genuinely falls for her, and all is well.
Oh, and breezepelt doesnt hate his siblings as an adult. They get on alright, even his similarly formerly evil littermates. He's also some level of nonspeaking/mute as an adult, as he lost his powers.
Crowfeather's fate, though? I really dont know. Public shaming, for sure. Perhaps he sees what hes done and apologises, perhaps hes exiled entirely, its a tricky subject.

Will you be covering the most recent arc (A Starless Clan)? If so, how will you handle Frostpaw?
I will not be! i care not for it, and Nightheart wouldn't have reason to be the protagonist, as the lineage thing wouldn't be forced onto him. Mistystar will likely die in The Broken Code, and whatever characters i like that were born in A Starless Clan (like Stemleaf's kits) will be moved back so they show up in TBC or AVOS.
that being said, Frostpaw may appear, but until this arc is finalised and has a resolution, i'm not touching that situation with a 10 foot pole.

whats arc 4.5?
excellent question, 4.5 is the arc i've created to add some flavour between the end of arc 4 and beginning of arc 5.
Coming directly off the back of Arc 4, arc 4.5 is an arc of desperation, jealousy, and learning. The first book follows Jayfeather and Hollyleaf as they guide the clans back through the forest territories to reach brand new ones far away from the ones they know. The rest of the arc follows Flamespring, Birchsong, and Clayfern, the final litter of Firestar and Sandstorm, as sibling jealousy and favouritism turns into a murder spree and execution, ending with acknowledgement that making lineage and parentage so important isn't always a good thing, and often goes badly.
Oh, and Starclan's gone. I'm not waiting two arcs to get rid of them, they've already disappeared by 4.5.

If we're allowed to ask about later arcs, how will the OOTS battle go down? You've mentioned Brackenstar, so i presume Firestar still dies, but what else happens?
Ah, The Great Battle. It's the biggest moment in Clan History since basically forever, every force, ally, and enemy of the clans clash together in a bloodbath. It's a major trauma for the clans that they never truly recover from, and that affects their very way of life afterwards.
But thats the poetic description, when it happened, it was chaos. The clans were tipped off by the Dark Forest recruits that backed out about the incoming attack, but nobody could've prepared for the hell that followed.
The Clan cats prepared themselves in their camps, reinforced to the teeth, with every kit and elder safely in hiding. They couldn't risk hiding them in another camp, so they could only pray. They had no specific date to wait for, but while they waited, the clans stockpiled on prey, burying it like they would in a harsh leafbare. The healers met up frequently to share much needed herbs, as the mystics begged Starclan for help.
They were so prepared that by the time The Dark Forest struck, they were ready. Slinking out of rivers, shadows, trees, anywhere they could pull themselves from the depths of, the ghostly cats came running, quickly backed by the recruits that still supported them, who had taken camp outside of all the territories. The first couple minutes weren't bad, the clans were holding their own, until more appeared, then more, then more. The Dark Forest had not only recruited living cats, but put a hole through the barrier between the Dark Forest and the Ghost Plane, the place where non-clan cats go when they die. Most weren't kittypets, the majority were rogues, but the kittypets that did fight were just as vicious.
Quickly, the clans were overrun. Getting a killing blow on these dead cats was hard enough, made only harder when they kept jumping back and forth between shadows. Despite the chaos, the sky was clear, and the blood of both living and dead was everywhere.
Suddenly, the sun was blotted out. Every cat in the territories froze as an eclipse filled the sky, in two clans, the fighting continued, though all were unsettled. In Thunderclan and Windclan, however, two groups appeared. Sol and Darktail, backed by their own rogue groups, came down on their despised clans with a vengeance. Darktail hadn't been abandoned in this AU, but his kittypet roots had soured his clan to him, and he had been pulled into the Dark Forest far, far too young, and in turn, he had pulled the other Windclan trainees in as well. And so, in the moons before the Dark Forest attack, he grouped up with his 'close ally' Sol, and pulled together a rogue group to tear down the clans in an ambush. Sol didn't originally intend to destroy the clans, but the events of Power Of Three made him more willing towards Darktail's plan.
And so, the clans were even further overrun. The living were starting to retreat, some muttering prayers to Starclan, when the clouds rolled in, not blotting out the eclipse, but thundering alongside it. The sky glowed as dozens upon dozens of Starclan cats raced down, claws out and yelling a battle cry that shook the very sky, sending lightning and thunder down upon the land. There had always been more Starclan than Dark Forest, and even with the ambush and extra dead rogues, they were no match for the numbers of Starclan.
Even then, the battle was hard, but righteous. Kits long dead blocked the entrance of nurseries, half faded elders fought side by side with their distant descendants, and, of course, past leaders flung themselves furiously at the cats who dared attack their clan. In Shadowclan, a group of cats both living and dead, led by Flintflang and Deerstep, tore Brokenstar apart while chanting the names of those he killed, as Badgerfang kept the living kittens quiet and hidden, despite his shaking paws.
The clans were winning, one paw strike at a time, but it was a struggle, for every Dark Forest cat killed, a Starclan cat was. For every Rainfloweer was a Spottedleaf, every Frecklewish was a Featherwhisker, and the living were beginning to drop from injury and blood loss too. They were winning the fight, but the war was still raging.
and then, an even bigger surprise occured. Midnight, leading the tribe cats and the mercats, came storming in, along with their ancestors. The Dark Forest were definitely outnumbered now, and started fleeing as The Six's powers were fully awakened by the prescence of their original spirits, massively faded but still there. The bloodbath turned to the side of the good, but there was still tragedy to come.
The thunder and lightning continued, as did the eclipse, as fire spread in all territories, setting a blazing background for the leaders and their fighting. Onestar chased Darktail down to the lake as the tom tried to escape, Mistystar fought against Mapleshade with the fury of the Applekin before her, Blackstar pinned one of Brokenstar's old loyalists on their back, and Firestar fought tooth and claw against Tigerstar, using every trick he had learnt in the time since their last match. The smoke was thick in the air as the remaining Dark Forest cats fled, leaving only the most stubborn, or stupid.
A tree was struck and fell between the two thunderclan cats, but Firestar nimbly jumped it, and with one last attack, Tigerstar vanished into nothingness, leaving only a smudge of dark, tar-like blood where he had stood moments before. They had no time to celebrate, however, as the camp continued to crackle and burn. But, while coated in the blood of himself and his clanmates, Firestar knew Starclan was sending rain, as the first drops hit his fur and the eclipse cleared. It was too late for him, he knew that, and he dropped to the floor as his clan gathered around him, old and young, living and dead. His spirit rose from his body, nuzzled goodbye with Sandstorm, and disappeared into the sky, the rest of the dead following.
As Thunderclan mourned their leader, Crowfeather desperately leaped into the lake to save Onestar, only to come up empty pawed and soaked through. Their leader, too, was gone. As was Shadowclan's, having tried to race to Windclan through the tunnels as aid, but getting caught by the flooding caused by the storm that broke only minutes later. Mistystar, thank the stars, was alive, but badly injured.
With three of four leaders left, the territories destroyed, and over a dozen cats dead, the clans entered their new era. Brackenfur- now to be star- prayed this would be a better one, but we all know how fate isn't a fan of the clans.
And so, came Arc 4 and a half. Or, as i call it, The New Prophecy (Propheciless Edition), actual name still pending.

Rising Storm reread!
Overall, 9.5/10, thoughts at the bottom of the post. Half point removed for having an odd pacing, not much technically happened but also a lot happened as well, i always think the events of this one are in forest of secrets.
Prolouge
Huh, they actually foreshadow the second arc and skyclan, neat
Careful Runningnose, i dont like the way you phrased that
Ooo spooky omens, i like it
Chapter 1
Im retracting my statement from last book, i dont like cloudpaw
Tigerclaw was banished a quarter moon ago
Might be harsh, but fireheart's right, cloudpaw's gotta learn respect for the prey
More exposition, but placed better, feels more like his memories than the authors
Willowpelt is expecting
Why have ash and fern not been apprenticed yet, their a moon older than cloud
Thank you whitestorm for helping our boy with patrols
In fireheart's defense, its hard to keep track of where one cat is, nevermind a whole clan
Aww hi brightpaw
So mistlekit is still alive, eh? Kit survived the whitecough bought
Unfortunatrly the elders werent incorrect in their worry
I like this start, the writing is far smoother
Chapter 2
"Your eyes have always betrayed your heart" i really like that line
Fireheart being scared of a kitten is shockingly in character, same tom who overthought a mossball comment
I like the implication that bluestar and leaders generally visit the nursery a lot
Ah, theres the slightly jarring exposition
I love whitestorm so much
I know it wasnt canon at the time of writing the book, but i like that whitestorm's the one to be concerned, thsts his auntie
Honestly i can't blame bluestar for losing trust so fast, being backstabbed like that can really mess with your head, i've seen it happen
But thats also really sad, she was so happy to announce cloudpaw's ceremony last book
Cloudpaw has been an apprentice for a half moon
Fireheart, lets not continue with the pity
Cinderpaw was made yellowfang's apprentice a moon and a half ago
From an author persepctive, not a fan of cinderpaw's worry here, but from a character perspective, i understand her, its a lot to learn, especially at such a young age with people's health at stakr
Ok i understand why he chose darkstripe instead of sandstorm, no need to risk more clan unease at the moment, but god i hope he explains this rationally to sandstorm
Chapter 3
I know bluestar's aggression is a bad thing, but she's got a point, two attacks in one moon means you gotta keep some around
Cloudpaw being annoying, as usual
Ash and Fern, yay!
Chapter 4
Oo, i like the imagery of that nightmare
Ah, here's bluestar's...not mania, i dont think thats the word, but impulsiveness, maybe
Haha runningwind doesn't like cloudpaw, cant blame him
I like bluestar in book 2 was like "runningwind is a good cat but he wouldnt be good with apprentices" and he keeps getting stuck with apprentices
Chapter 5
Exposition part 3
Even with her mind clouded, her instincts are sharp
Yay bluestar's happy
Oh nevermind
Ah, hello mudclaw, not the last time your gonna cause trouble
Bluestar no-
Chapter 6
Goddamn it cloudpaw
Both runningwind and fireheart are increasingly exasperated with him
Fireheart, your the most patient cat on earth for putting up with cloudpaw for so long, lets hope it pays off
Chapter 7
Quarter moon since the moonstone attempt
Graystripe has been in riverclan for nearly a moon
Greenleaf is furball season
Stop looking at him, your making him nervous
Chapter 8
Ok, wildly abrupt time cut
Littlecloud was 3 moons old when he was apprenticed in the first book
Jesus, poor kit
Damn, i feel bad for these two
This whole time and no one was aware of these paths?
Chapter 9
Not sure how i feel about this new sandstorm
Oh look Fireheart, cloudtail took your advice from the first book
Chapter 10
I know hes written as arrogant, and he is very arrogant, but his confused look there gives me "autist who needs a rule to be explained far more bluntly" vibes, as one myself
Willowpelt's kitting
Aw no poor cinderpaw
Oh, cinderpelt. When'd she get her name?
Two she-cats and a tom, eh? Alright, rain, soot, which of you is the trans tom?
Bit of an awkward transition to the next day there, but alright
Two moons since the last rain
Chapter 11
Aw, cinderpelt
Fireheart cant stay mad at his baby sister forever
Sandfire advenetures!
Cloudpaw no!
Chapter 12
Okay, bad wording fireheart, but sandstorm turned way too quickly
Oh, poor ash
Chapter 13
Aw, ashfur, babie boy. Im gonna hate you next arc
Ok good, bluestar still has some wisdom in hef
Fireheart please take cinderpelt's advice, let spottedleaf go
Chapter 14
Brackenfur's not stupid, he can see u like her, fireheart
Aw, whitestorm's so concerned for his aunt
Im just picturing bluestar lying on her side, sadly licking dew from individual leaves
Chapter 15
Willowpelt not being forced into mother or warrior solely, for the win!
Oh no, runningwind!
Ah shit, there goes whitethroat
Tigerclaw u fucker
Chapter 16
GET HIS ASS FIREHEART
Skinny tigerclaw is a cursed image
Whitestorm to the rescue!
And greystripe!!
Chapter 17
I love how considerate fireheart is
Uh oh, bluestar, please stay calm
I think the writers got confused on mourning rituals, isnt it those closest to the dead that sit vigil?
Still, poor runningwind
Thornpaw, buddy! You've been given absolutely no characterization so far, poor guy, the neglected littermate
Yellowfang's reminded of Brokenstar, isnt she
Chapter 18
Aw, brackenfur playing with the kits
What ever happened to the "dont eat on hunting patrols" thing he was critizing cloudpaw about earlier?
Ravenpaw!!! My buddy!!!
Oh lord, exposition
Cloudpaw's been missing for a quarter moon
Chapter 19
Goddamn why is sandstorm so quick to fight with him
I see where shes coming from, dont leave the clan unguarded to go pick up your nephew from a twoleg nest, but have like, a reasonable discussion at least
...au where brightpaw comes across tigerclaw during the journey back to camp and gets kidnapped or killed
He has his own territory!! Good for you, dude!
Chapter 20
Thunderclan tree scaling skills coming in handy again
Why is sandstorm so harsh against ravenpaw???
Im glad ravenpaw has confidence, and a lot of it, given he just willingly alerted dogs to himself
Chapter 21
Cloudpaw better be on a redemption arc now, i really want to like him
Deadfoot nooo
Haha webpaw said fuck that
Aw, ashpaw, cutie
Hell yeah, more elders liking cloudpaw content
Chapter 22
Bluestar's memory is fading isnt it
Ok good cloudpaw's improving
I love these nightmares and omens, shame ive never seen fanart for them
Chapter 23
Ah, the fire, time for heartbreak
Ough, the image of patchpelt trying to drag halftail to saftey
I know yellowfang dies this book but shes gotta be alive! Shes just gotta!
Au where yellowfang survives and teaches leafpool
Chapter 24
Nooo, patchpelt!
Au where bluestar dies instead of yellowfang
Huh, they remembered mistlekit's existence, but not the fact she should definitely be an apprentice by now
Chapter 25
Ah good, leopardfur's softening a bit
Aw, smallear wanting to bury patchpelt
I'd be neat if one of the willowkits got asthma from this, but i know they dont
Chapter 26
Darkstripe you dick
Yess dustpelt becoming likeable
Bluestar's getting worse, isnt she
Storm and Feather! Babies!
Chapter 27
I like crookedstar
God, it really is destroyed, huh
Poor halftail
This is horrific, one of the worse deaths, if shes still conscious when fireheart finds her, she was probably conscious all night
"I wish you had been my son, but i could not have borne a cat like you" god.
Oh god, the image of fireheart desperately talking over her, knowing shes gone, ough
Chapter 28
I cant even blame bluestar here, i'd break from this too
Rip yellowblue shippers (fangfur? Bluefang?)
Three quarter moon
Chapter 29
I think cloudpaw has gotten "my boy!" status
Whitestorm's such a good warrior, man, i love him
Darkstripe's a dick part ???
Chapter 30
Gorsepaw!!!
Tallstar!!!
See, this is why i love firestar, he didnt have to tell runningnose personally, he could've just announced it
Ohoho, hello tigerclaw, you evil fucker
My thoughts
9.5/10, technically a lot happened but it also felt like nothing happened, so half a point off. I liked it though, the writing is holding up so far, everyone's mostly in character- aside from sandstorm's flip-flopping- and the fire scenes were brutal. Not necessarily my favourite so far, but high up
