So Missouri is introducing a bill that would make it so teachers would be charged as sex offenders and put on the registry for "contributing to social transition" of trans youth.
This is so completely fucked up. A teacher can be charged with a class E felony for using they/them pronouns.
They’re making aiding trans people punishable by law. They’re making it illegal to help trans people. They want to make it impossible to support us. They want to cut us off from all resources in society. They want to starve us out.
You can read the whole bill here: https://documents.house.mo.gov/billtracking/bills241/hlrbillspdf/5874H.01I.pdf

Name Change Episode IV: A New Law
So as of today, Germany's got a new law on the books! It'll take effect in November of this year. The so called "Selbstbestimmungsgesetz" (literally "self-determination law") will allow trans people to change their legal names and gender much, much more easily.
Here's a "quick" summary of my understanding:
There is a 3 month waiting period between your request for a name/gender change and the change actually taking effect. (As such, you may already file your request in August to have it kick in simultaneously with the new law.)
Requests must be accompanied by a statement that you understand what you are doing and what consequences this will have.
Kids have to be in agreement with their parents to file a request. If they disagree, a court will decide whether the request can be granted or not.
Adults cannot change their name and gender again for a year. Children are exempt from this waiting period.
If you revert to a previous gender, you must also revert to the names you had at this point. (ie, if I were to detransition, I would return to my birth name. I would not be allowed to choose a new female name.)
You may request new versions of all sorts of official documents to have them updated with your new name and gender, obviously at your own cost. The old versions will remain on file where applicable.
Being nonbinary does not exclude you from laws using gendered language (ie "no man or woman shall commit arson" would still apply if you are legally neither)
Revealing or uncovering a person's former gender without their permission is punishable by fine (although you can probably only take legal steps if this was done with intent to harm you).
If you are legally nonbinary, you may request a gendered passport under a few restrictions (This is necessary if you are travelling to countries where only binary identities are acknowledged and/or you might fear prosecution)
The law only covers the legal, bureaucratic aspect of a name and gender change. It does not settle any medical or social aspects. As such, there's quite a few... "shortcomings":
Trans people, or generally gender-nonconforming people, can be barred from gendered spaces at the owner's discretion. (They may or may not have legal options to fight back, but at that point the discrimination already happened)
There is no clear stance on sports. Both inclusion and exclusion seem allowed. (Again, that's not what the law is for, but codifying that exclusion may be allowed is still yucky.)
In case of crisis or war, changes will still be granted, but ignored in regard to the draft etc. Trans women requesting a change during or less than two months before a war would therefore be considered male and drafted.
Overall, it's about five steps forward and one step back, and that's a lot more than we usually get. We can also consider ourselves very lucky that the final version of the law does not include the paragraph in which any name/gender changes were automatically transmitted to law enforcement. You can imagine how that would go.
If I may drop my long form serious tone for a moment:
AAAAAAAAHAKJD OH MY GOD IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED I CAN CHANGE MY NAME THIS YEAR ALREADY HOLY SHIT OH MY GOD HJBSAKJDSADVADAS
Thank you.

Spain.....
By Nuria Muíña García February 29, 2024
A student organization at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is calling for the expulsion of a prominent professor of Social Anthropology, alleging she was “transphobic.” The Socialist Youth Organization, also known as OJS, is demanding the termination of Dr. Silvia Carrasco, after she had been giving talks discussing the necessity of biological sex classifications in anthropology at the beginning of the semester.
On February 12, the OJS released a video on social media titled “let’s organize against transphobia.” In it, a female student read a speech targeting Carrasco and slamming the university for allowing “untouchable academic freedom” on sensitive subjects.
“Today, classes return to the UAB campus, ideological control returns, reactionary and transphobic speeches return to our classrooms,” she said. “Under the banner of untouchable academic freedom, they allow professors to impart content under ideological and scientific criteria, turning the classroom into a space for the production and legitimization of reactionary and… transphobic speeches… typical of social democratic politics, narratives that try to explain gender oppression from a sexual essentialism from biologist positions.”

Concerns about “trans fraud” have emerged after dozens of male civil servants in one small community changed their gender identity reportedly just to get benefits allocated for females. The wave of gender change approvals follows the implementation of the Trans Law, which eased the regulations surrounding legal identity changes.
In the small, autonomous city of Ceuta alone, it has been revealed that 37 male civil servants have changed their legal gender. Of them, the vast majority are associated with the Military, National Police, Civil Guard, or Local Police, and these new “females” have curiously all chosen to retain their male names and continue their lives “as men.”
One of the men has come forward to boast of his success, stating that he changed his legal gender after the Trans Law was implemented in Spain in March of 2023.
Roberto Perdigones, a 35-year-old Army corporal, changed his legal sex to “female” after deciding he identified as an “intersex bigender” person. Perdigones explained that “externally, I am a straight man and internally a lesbian woman.”
Perdigones says he first discovered that changing his registered sex would afford him benefits after reading an update in the National Police Exam syllabus with a list of “possible” gender identities one may have. Perdigones found a gender description he felt he matched, so pursued the change.
“On the outside, I feel like a heterosexual man, but inside I am a lesbian woman, which is what prevails. That’s why I made the legal change to female,” he says. “I did it because I could,” Perdigones admitted to El Español.

⚧ Bash transphobia. ⚧
For anyone who still uses TikTok please for the love of god report the account “transition justice” for misinformation. It’s an anti-trans group of people who tried hormones for like a few months, didn’t like it, and now are calling it “poison” and “abuse to children” etc etc among other t 3 r f phrases. If you watch some of the videos you will see.
!!!Not every detransitioned person is a transphobe!!! Most “detransitioners” are trans people who simply had to stop medically transitioning for safety reasons!
However THESE people as stated above, are.

why does my state hate me? (tw for talk of transphob!c laws)
The state I live in has laws prohibiting insurance companies from covering hormone replacement therapy. This means that in order for me to take testosterone, I would have to pay out of pocket. The cheapest form of testosterone is $40-$100. Injections aren't the only form but it is the best option for money's sake. I currently do not have a job since I'm still in high school. Not a lot of jobs will hire without job experience but I'm an 18 year old who needs job experience because I don't have any because no one will hire me without it. It's a shitty cycle many exist in.
There is no way that with that problem that I will be moving out of state soon. So I am left with two options. Pay for HRT 100% myself or prolong the wait for it. There's problems with both. Paying for it myself leaves me with the challenge of budgeting around payments. If you've been around in the last four years, you will know that the price of living is way too expensive and a minimum wage job barely gets you a shitty place to live and shitty food that probably won't last you till your next paycheck. Not ideal.
Prolonging the wait leaves me with the possibility of completely spiraling out of control and destroying myself or seriously hurting myself. Also not ideal. Currently these are my only options. I can't even with how fucking shitty this is.
If my timelines and calculations are correct, I will either be leaving the state in late 2025-early/mid 2026. Or I will be left with little to no "fun" money/rainy day fund. Why is this the world we live in? I don't even know which states are safe anymore. They've changed in less than a year and they're still changing. i am falling apart alongside every other trans person.
"It's not gonna be that hard."
It's fuckiing hard. And all the people telling us that we are making a choice and not actually born this way are full of fucking bullshit. Why would we choose this? Why would we choose to let ourselves be in these situations? Trust me, if it was a choice I would choose to be cisgender any day of the fucking week.
