So, Sonic Forces! … again. Posts like this will be put under Forces!RW from now on, just so I can keep things together.
Following this post, I’ve been thinking about my reimagined Sonic Forces a lot. It’s high up on my list of things to rewrite, but… that list is quite long and is made up of stories that, for the most part, will live exclusively in my head. However, I had so much fun making my last post that I wanted to make another.
I wanted to touch on an aspect of the Phantom Ruby: how it’s able to make hordes of copies at Infinite’s will.
In my mind, the Phantom Ruby makes clones with the same attributes as any other illusion. Those made to witness the illusion will be unable to control feeling, despite reason, what they are witnessing is real. This enhances the Phantom Ruby’s powers, making its illusions able to affect the world as if they were real.
However, copies are different as they can perform most of the abilities their source can, but only if Infinite has a solid grasp on what those abilities are. For example, Chaos remains in his base state because Infinite does not understand his evolution, but he does understand chaos energy and chaos manifestation, so Shadow’s copies is able to harness Chaos Spear (though its nowhere on the scale of a true Chaos Spear. It gathers available chaos energy and turns it into a weapon, but without an emerald the copy has to draw upon the natural chaos energy around it). This is also one of the reasons Zavok is so… lame, for lack of a better word, and why Infinite resigns his copy to being Sonic’s jail keeper.
Why, then, would Eggman have Infinite stop at making copies of Zavok, Chaos, and Shadow? Of course, it’s because he finds them worthy allies as they have all put Sonic in close life or death situations and all have beaten Eggman himself at least once. If they worked together, they would undoubtedly be able to take Sonic out without the need for more manpower.
But… why not copy Sonic himself after his capture? Eggman chooses to copy Metal Sonic so, with Sonic himself imprisoned, having Sonic’s speed and agility on Eggman’s side would be a valuable resource.

Eggman told Infinite they should make copies of Sonic to torment the world they were conquering. Having their precious hero, or at least his likeness, working with Eggman would destroy their moral… Infinite proposed, instead, not only was it too soon to show their cards in Infinite’s full abilities, but that tormenting the world with their hero acting against them would be nothing compared to the psychological play of allowing the world to believe Infinite, a hand in the Eggman Empire, had taken him out for good. Letting a likeness of their hero wander around could work against them, influencing people to gain a “hope against all odds” approach.
While Eggman agreed, it wasn’t until after he had Infinite show him the Ruby could, in fact, make a copy of Sonic. Despite not wanting to, having the copy ended up working in Infinite’s favor. After commenting on the pest Sonic was, the Doctor agreed that, yes, looking at that hedgehog for too long was giving him a migraine; he didn’t want to imagine what having hundreds of him would do… Good. Because Infinite thought Sonic was too annoying to waste his power forging copies of him, anyway.
Infinite looked at the copy. He could appreciate the hedgehog’s indomitable spirit and his ability to ruin things. He could even acknowledge that, yes, he was enough to be the world’s hero.
Until now.

Five, closing in on six months after Sonic’s defeat, Tails found himself miles from his live-in workshop, the last one left after Eggman’s takeover. He managed to gather supplies before his home was invaded and made it out by his scruff on the Tornado, but she hadn’t gotten them out without taking severe damage. Still, she flew, and she landed, and Tails could start repairing her to the best of his ability. He didn’t need a plane since the sky had been put under lockdown, but the Tornado was Sonic’s. He’d hate for Sonic to find out he had wrecked the Tornado and done nothing to fix it.
While sorting out the damaged parts, Tails heard something scuff behind him… He tensed before he moved, much too caught up with the Tornado to remember he should defend himself first, worry later, when his eyes caught the source of the sound.
Impossible.
Tails didn’t think it was possible, but he tensed more at the sight of his brother, his big brother, the sight of Sonic walking idly past him. Something slipped past Tails’ lips, maybe it was supposed to be words, but he didn’t know which ones. His big brother stopped. And turned towards him…

Gotta cut myself off from my more story-writer way of telling this before I get carried away. Apologies! But, if I’m able to work on this more, maybe there will be a full scene in a full chapter in a full story for this? Perchance…
Shadow would appear and, before Tails could process it, would be fighting the copy down the street. Shadow’s been dealing with Phantom copies since day one of Eggman’s invasion, and he knows Sonic well enough to be able to spot a fake from anywhere.
Tails would, of course, chase after them, leaving behind the Tornado and all of his supplies. As far as he knows, it was Shadow who helped take Sonic down in the first place and he’s ready for answers as to why, and answers on how Sonic got back, and why they’re fighting again, and…! Well, a lot of answers!
By the time Tails gets there, Shadow would have already taken the copy down; it’s on the floor, lifeless, and starting to disappear. Tails would launch himself at Shadow, claws and teeth bared, kicking and scratching out of everything he’s thought and felt about Shadow for the last five months, but Shadow would easily subdue him. Tails is tired, and hungry, and most of all he’s devastated.
Once Tails is able to hear anything Shadow tries to tell him, he would tell Tails about the fact Eggman is generating copies. Shadow has a certain soft spot for Tails, especially in his current situation, so while the scene would be to get information about the Phantom Ruby to Tails, it would also serve to give him the comfort he needs, and closure that no, Shadow didn’t hurt Sonic and, no he’s also not looking for him but, if he hears anything, he’ll let the kid know.

I don’t know if I’ve said it, but I’ve got a biiiiig list of media I’ve rewritten entirely in my head for fun and that usually means I have the most barebones chapter layout for them and even some ‘first drafts’ for certain chapters; like this hypothetical chapter!
That’s it, really. I had fun talking about Forces and showing how I would do things! I tend to get carried away a lot when I’m writing about the things I like. I really didn’t plan to write this post out the way I did. Hopefully the difference between my presenting the concepts and writing them out for a more entertaining read of what I would do wasn’t too confusing.

Amy meets everyone but Sonic
I think it would be funny/interesting if Amy doesn’t meet Sonic until the end or near climax of the movie.
From what I can remember from the games, Amy would almost always do something small within the sideline of the story that becomes impactful in the main story. Best example of this is how her interaction between Silver and Shadow both play a part in them switching from antagonist to friends/allies to Sonic and his friends.
If the SCU introduces Amy in the third film I think this would be the best way to go about it if she doesn’t get as much screen time. There could be a side plot where Amy is trying to find Sonic but she meets everyone that has some connection to him instead. Each person she meets she helps/supports them in a small but impactful way that helps Sonic and friends in a big way by the climax or end of the film.
They could give us a taste of Amy’s strengths and feisty nature by showing her teaming up with knuckles (maybe give them a dynamic similar to Sonic X or IDW). Then they can establish her kindness and determination to help those who have been wronged, by showing her helping tails at his lowest point (maybe Amy helps tails in his SA2 arc or help him break sonic out of prison island). Finally, by the climax of the film Amy indirectly helps Sonic in the biggest way possible by reminding Shadow of his promise to Maria which encourages him to aid Sonic in saving the world.
Bonus points if throughout the film there this running gag of Sonic and Amy keep just missing each other.
Amy just left after helping knuckles and wade defend citizens from strange creatures (black arms?)
Sonic: sorry I’m late to the party, I heard from tails that you guys might need some back up
Knuckles: no need little brother we have defeated our new foe with the help of a valiant new ally.
Sonic:?
Wade: yeah your pink girlfriend was a lot of help 😄

Wade: oh she is a pink hedgehog like you and she got really excited when she found out that we know you so sh..

Knuckles: she could be a good partner, they’re both strong and reckless 🤔

Amy get held up fighting off /distracting the guards while helping tails break sonic out of prison island

Tails: your welcome but I can’t take all the credit I had some outside help

Sonic: nope but I’ve heard great things. I seem to just miss her everywhere I go
Tails: *smirks* so the fastest thing alive can’t caught the girl
Sonic:*roll eyes* hardy har har, very funny… is she still around? I really like to meet this new heroine, maybe team up.
Tails: yeah she holding back the guards I can put her on speak if you insist 😏

Amy: yep still here though my hands are a bit full at the moment. How are things on your end? Did you find him? Do you need help?
Tails: yeah everything great I found him , we’re safe and he really interested in meeting you😏 (sonic: tails it’s not like that😠) so we were hoping we can make our escape and meet back at..
Amy: *wham!* That sounds great I.. *fzzzz* I can meet you guy at *fzzz* HEY! You better stay down or I’ll get my hammer and! *fzzz *wham!*
Tails and Sonic: hammer?

Sonic: dang I was really hoping to catch her this time she sounds like a fun gal.

Sonic: *lightly punches tails shoulder* welp we better make use of Amy’s specially made exits and get out of here.
After Amy reminds Shadow of his promise to Maria and so Shadow joins Sonic in facing the final threat of the film (black arm, bio lizard, metal sonic?).
Sonic: hey shads come to join the party? What changed your mind?
Shadow: your pink friend reminded me of something important…
Sonic: *looks confused for a second before realizing who he’s talking about*
Sonic: no way… she really is something special…😊
Shadow: she is…😌 now let get this over with this only one time thing got that faker😈
Sonic: whatever you say faker😈 now let’s kick some butts.

I'm thinking about Sonic going from just a regular guy, to becoming a rumor, then a myth, then a legend, then, eventually, a deity of sorts.
Like, okay, he's still a normal dude. That is, if normal dudes can run at the speed of sound and harness ultimate power to defeat gods and titans.
But the more people he saves, the more people learn about him. And I would have to imagine that Sonic as a figure feels very mythical to the average person, especially if they've never met him.
This guy protects the planet and has saved it from monumental threats and he has never once demanded anything in return, not even recognition for his actions. And nobody, save for a very small few, knows anything about him.
When crises happen, the average person starts hoping for Sonic to show up and save them all. As time goes on, these hopes evolve into something more like prayers.
When Sonic dies, memorials are created around the planet for the fallen hero. It's strange to think that he's actually gone, even in the aftermath of Eggman's conquests. People visit these memorials and leave flowers or other small gifts, in honor of the hedgehog who saved them all time and time again, and they almost feel more like tribute.
Sonic comes back to life and these memorials become more like holy sites. Just because Sonic's alive doesn't mean there isn't still this drive to treat these places like temples, temples where Sonic is their deity.
It makes Sonic uncomfortable when he starts to come across them, while the Restoration is still fixing the planet. People making offerings and praying in his name, thanking him for protecting the planet and asking him to continue to do so. What's even worse is when these types of people meet him directly, and he has to deal with his worshippers falling at his feet.
He liked it a whole lot better when he was dodging interviews and autographs. He never wanted anything like this.
When he discusses it with his friends, they generally agree that yeah, it is pretty weird. But it also feels like many of them look at him differently these days, too.
Especially Knuckles.
They have a conversation about it once.
"Do you know what makes something a god?" Knuckles had asked.
"Well, I've fought a few of them, so I should probably know," Sonic joked, catching the way Knuckles' frown deepened in a lack of amusement. "Well, they all tend to have a lot of power."
"Sure, but where do you think that power comes from?"
"Uh, chaos energy?"
Knuckles sighed. "It's more than that. Look at Shadow. He's got loads of chaos energy, but you wouldn't consider him a god, would you?"
"I don't know, he is supposedly immortal."
"Sonic."
"What?" Sonic put his hands up. "I don't get your point, Knux. Why are you even asking me this?"
"Gods are formed from worship."
Sonic froze. It hit him immediately what Knuckles was implying. He forces out a chuckle. "I don't think a few misguided people treating me like some otherworldly force means anything, pal."
"You know it's not just a few people, Sonic. This is a global thing that's happening."
Sonic waved a hand. "It'll die down, trust me. It's all just because I was gone for six months and magically seemed to come back. The average person doesn't know the full story."
The full story was this: Sonic didn't feel like a deity. Those six months were the worst experience of his life, and now that he was in the aftermath he still felt bad more often than not. He hid it well, but his time imprisoned and tortured had left its mark, the way he flinched at shadows and shied away from physical contact even worse than before, even as he craved it more than he ever had in his life.
He'd always felt unstoppable, a side effect of his speed, he imagined. And then he was stopped, and the illusion he had viewed himself through shattered.
He had never felt more small. He felt even further from a god than ever.
It didn't help that the world fell apart in his absence. Dealing with guilt on top of everything else wasn't helpful.
"Listen, Knux," Sonic said, letting his tone grow serious. "Don't bring this up with anyone else, okay? The last thing we need is for people to start acting more weird around me. This craziness needs to just blow over."
Knuckles looked at him intensely, studying his expression. Sonic didn't know what he saw, but he sighed. "Fine, I won't. But I still--"
"Great, thanks! I gotta go, I'll see you around!"
"Sonic, wait--!" Knuckles called out too late, the wind rushing past him as Sonic took off, speeding away before the echidna could get another word in.
He didn't get a chance to tell Sonic that his chaos energy signature had started to feel different.

A list of predictions I have for the Sonic movie I think are at least likely to happen
- opening shot is with either Stone or Robotnik (or both) breaking into the facility holding shadow
- definitely more homoerotic tension between Sone and Robotnik
- tails has built his own workshop/treehouse he likes hanging out in
- knuckles similarly has built his own shrine for the master emerald (just for fun)
- sibling and family shenanigans
- Sonic gets arrested after Shadow goes around stealing shit, also GUN knows that its Shadow and not him, but they arrest Sonic as a cover up, the public is decided because half of them are like “that’s clearly not Sonic”, but the other half is like “what are the odds of there being two alien hedgehogs that just so happen to be on earth?”
- prison break scene
- flashbacks of shadow and Maria living on the ark
- what exactly happened to Maria isn’t revealed right away, similarly to sa2
- the death scene plays after Shadow remembers the real promise he made to her. His memories were repressed rather than altered, so remembering her death is a big character moment when he realizes he needs to accept her death and honor her memory rather than seek revenge
- Maria’s death definitely won’t be on screen. My guess is they’ll take the Sonic x route (the original, not the dub) and cut away to just show Shadows reaction (pretty much like in project shadow)
- if Amy isn’t in the movie, then Sonic will be the one to give Shadow the big speech to convince him to help save the world
- shadows origins will be a bit different. I think Gerald Robotnik studied and somehow traveled to the gangs home planet, and he found DNA from a creature capable of harnessing the power of the emeralds (the same alien race as sonic, tying into the reason Longclaw was afraid of someone taking Sonic for his power)
- eggman has the broadcasted speech while he shows off the capabilities of the Space Colony Ark (by blowing up the moon) and it shows the residents of green hills all watching and reacting (if it starts with Robotnik saying the words “I’ve come to make an announcement” I will be very happy)
- if Tom and Maddie don’t get to go with them to the Ark, they’re given the sacred task of looking after the master emerald for them. If they do get to go to the Ark, then Knuckles will go to Wade and count on him to protect the Master emerald (Wade will probably become more responsible and aware during the knuckles series, so much so that Knuckles puts his trust in him)
- alternate plot for Tom and Maddie, they investigate the cover up of Project Shadow and discover the truth about what happened (essentially everyone was killed except for Gerald and Shadow). Bonus points if they find out a Wachowski was involved (or even the one responsible for killing Maria, but that’s a stretch)
- also if Tom and Maddie go to Space Colony Ark, emotional moment where they have to see Sonic get ejected via the space capsule (he’s fine, don’t worry)
- Tails, Knuckles, Tom, and Maddie all going absolutely ham on fighting Robotnik afterwards because they think Sonic couldn’t have survived
- Sonic and Shadow team up (potentially a begrudging truce with eggman because he realizes he can’t take over the world if it’s destroyed along with him)
- Knuckles is the least enthusiastic about a team up considering Eggman used him before, and everyone is of course like “we really don’t like it either, but the world is literally going to end if we don’t”
- Super Shadow and Sonic pushing back the Space Colony Ark (I don’t think the prototype will be in the movie just for simplicity sake) while a rendition of Live and Learn plays
- Shadow inevitably sacrifices himself, all while thinking of his promise to Maria
- Sonic trying to save Shadow (and doesn’t)
- Tom and Maddie being so happy to see Sonic alive and well but then their faces drop as they see the distraught look on his face and notice he’s holding Shadows inhibitor
- Group hug where they all comfort him
- Post credit scene hinting Shadow survived
I have many more predictions involving Amy and Rouge, but I don’t know if they’ll for sure be in it. I have a feeling if they do pick at least one character to introduce it will be Amy.

I do agree with Shadow losing Maria: we won’t see it on screen, but it could be familiar to how it was done with Sonic X.
I’ve been cackling over the idea of Stone and Robotnik carrying a ragdoll-sized Shadow. He’s quite eepy.

Summon Line: Other than our looks, I don't see how this tsum resembles me one bit. It's been rolling around and jumping up and down without any sign of calming down.
Groooovy!!: For it to come to the conclusion that I am always in the right and faithfully follow me… This tsum has promise.
Home: Tsum, your crown is crooked.
Home Idle 1: I never expected this tsum to wake up a sleeping student during class by tackling them like that... Fufu, a job well done.

What if we saw a bit more of what happened during the war from forces? Like who it affected, and what distant future events can be traced back to it?
Silver the hedgehog is called to Casino Night Zone. Eggman's Army has reached the city, and silver is the closest member of the resistance who stands a chance. He shows up, beats eggman, problem solved, right?
Right. Totally.
Before the war there was a band touring. The best metal band on mobius. We only need to know one name, and that's the bass player. Her name is Bass. Creative, I know. During the war, they initially put a halt on their tour, but then they started again and extended it. The idea was to keep people's spirits up while the world crumbled to dust.
But that fateful evening, they were performing at Casino Night when Eggman and his Army attacked.
Bass was the only surviving member of the band.
She set out to find a way to bring her friends back. She thought "there are so many magical things in this world, at least one must be capable of returning life to the dead." And it wasn't a dumb thought, obviously. The time stones, the chaos emeralds, the phantom ruby, the warp topaz... There are a ton of magical stones. She just had to find the right one. So she researched the known stones that possess magical capabilities... And she found it. A black diamond that could loosely adapt to its users wishes, and the best part is that it took music to harness its power. Actually the best part was that the book she was reading said it was currently on display in a soundproof case in a museum. It even told her which museum.
When she returned to Casino Night with the gem, it had already adapted. It had turned into a green-teal color, like malachite. As she began to play the bassline to her favorite song (The song with four names a.k.a. Labyrinth kind of Love a.k.a. truth overboard a.k.a. water's red and rising), she could feel the diamond's energy reaching out to where he friends rested. She witnessed specks of dust gather into clouds. She watched those clouds condense into piles. She watched as those piles moulded themselves into the shapes of her friends, and finally... there they were.
When she spoke, however, each of them said the same thing at the same time. A wave of terror washed over her. She stepped back. They stepped back. The drummer stumbled on a tree branch, fell backwards, and disintegrated. Bass sat there in shock... or was it fear? Anger? Despair? Her friends remained expressionless.
"No. Those aren't my friends." She thought.
She got up and ran. She didn't look back. After that point, her life took to a downard spiral. The war was over and she remained miserable. She couldn't perform without her band. She couldn't be happy without her friends. She didn't get it, why did everyone else get a happy ending like that blue hedgehog?
Wait. The Hedgehog.
Silver.
It was all Silver's fault
He showed up to the battle. He was meant to be the hero. He made a big entrance, and then he fought Eggman. That's it. He fought Eggman - he PRIORITIZED fighting Eggman over saving her friends' lives. For that, she could never forgive him. For that, she would end his life.
So, with the help of a character who shall remain anonymous thanks to me having no clue who it would be, she enhanced herself to better be able to utilize the diamond. She had a chassis implanted into her chest with the diamond embedded inside. She had her arm - the one that picked the strings on her guitar - replaced by a robotic one, so that the power of the diamond could travel directly into the guitar and be stronger by the time of release.
By the end, she had control over all things dead. It was time to go through with her plan: to cause a future so catastrophic that silver would have to come back and fix it. She began using dead matter create towering abominations which had never lived in the first place and were almost impossible to kill without her power. She set them free to ravage the world.
200 years in the future, Silver wakes up to a ruined city, a dust storm, and a kaiju-sized silhouette on the horizon. Behind him is a portal.

Cai, Bedwyr and company
So pretty much ever since this post about the original folkloric magical-warrior Arthur, I've been doodling designs for other characters surrounding him (and that real good art I rb'd yesterday kicked my ass into wanting to upload them finally).
Of the companions of the Welsh version of Arthur, Cai (or Cei/Kei) has to top the list. Most magical guy in the world. Per Culhwch & Olwen dude has heat and cold powers, he can grow giant, he can survive underwater for nine days. He fought a giant cat once. (It's actually kind of interesting that he later was adapted into the boorish, incompetent Sir Kay because of how amazing he originally was; it's the classic anime rival bit where you can show how cool your new OC, Lancelot or whoever, is by having him be better than the existing best guy)
I was already leaning into the "slutty magical anime boys" aesthetic and, with characters like this who only appear once the legendary Welsh versions of the 9th century on get into full swing, I felt more license to go further with that (whereas my Arthur and Trwyth look slightly more down-to-earth because they appears even earlier as small-scale local figures).
So my concept for Cai is that since he can generate heat from his skin so intense no rain can touch him without evaporating, by anime girl character design logic obviously he has to leave his back and shoulders and thighs uncovered since that's where I'm having his wings of magical flame project from.
The hair gave me a little trouble--I briefly thought I could give him two-coloured hair to reflect his heat/cold thing, but then I remembered one of the popular HeroAca guys is a two-colour-hair fire-ice-powers guy so I hard-swerved away from treading on those toes. In the end I settled on the MILFy ponytail at the bottom since it'd keep his hair clear of his back, since again, it's very logical and strategically important for the skin there to be bare.
The gloves and metal bands, meanwhile, are meant to be like a shadow the hedgehog power-limiter kinda deal, where he can take them off to unleash his full elemental power. That works with gloves but not really the boots, but I didn't want to lose the symmetry, but then! A piece of medieval Welsh poetry gave me inspiration for another function, and a way to make the design hornier I guess.
One of the Triads of Britain refers to the Three Fettered Men of the Isle of Britain: "Because horses could not be obtained that were suited to them, owing to their size; so they put fetters of gold around the small of their legs, on the cruppers of their horses, behind their backs".
Cai isn't one of the three, but in addition to his main epithet "Cai Wyn" ("worthy Cai", or "Cai the Fair", so it's important he's hot you see), he's also known as "Cai Hir" ("Cai the Tall"), which may be a reference to his ability to grow giant, and fits the 'reasoning' in the Triad. So the bands on his legs became fetters of gold, and my idea is he releases his power by breaking the chain to do his Ultraman rise.
A "crupper", meanwhile, seems to be like, an ass-harness? Sure, that fits the vibe we've ended up at. I figured that can be what he slings his sword from, and then spent...a while trying to figure out the logistics of that. So y'know I had to draw his hips and ass a bunch. For science.
As you can see, there's a couple of attempts to render the leotard as chainmail; one story, Rhonabwy's Dream, describes Cai as wearing mail of pure white rings with pure red rivets, which sounds gorgeous but I dunno how to draw white chainmail so I mostly gave up. He can wear one over the other, I guess?
In Culhwch, Cai (who is the best sword-maker in the world, naturally) forges a sword for the giant Wrnach Gawr, then kills him with it and takes it, so I figured that'd be a cool weapon to give him. Cai asks if he'd like it to be white-bladed or dark-blue-bladed, and Wrnach answers "whichever way you prefer"; we never find out what that is, so I thought an asymmetrical design incorporating both would be fun.
Anyway, here's another friend: Bedwyr! Precursor to Sir Bedivere, Bedwyr is Cai's constant companion, who "never feared a quest that Cai went on". Do Not separate them. He's the Fast Guy; though he has one hand, he can draw blood three times faster than anyone can with two; by the time you notice he's stabbed you once, he's stabbed you another seven times, etc. He's also noted as the most beautiful man in all the land (except Arthur, and one other guy whose name never comes up anywhere else).
I had kinda wanted to give Cai lots of hair volume but was thwarted by the bare-back thing so I made that Bedwyr's thing, and he's gotta be a spear guy given the above (another fun thing is his spearhead can fly off and stab guys on its own then come back to him). Another Triad calls Cai one of the "Three Diademed Battle-Leaders of the Isle of Britain", but adds after giving the three that "And one was diademed above the three of them: that was Bedwyr son of Bedrawc." So that's why they both have little tiaras, and while I flip back and forth on the look I settled on making Bedwyr's a little fancier and Cai's simpler to conform with the poem.
So that's how we arrive at what I consider my final designs for these two lovebirds (one poet tells us Bedwyr's death left Cai "heartbroken"); in the end I prefer the sword-harness just looking like a simple belt from the front, and I added some boots? Thigh-socks? Something?? to Bedwyr to break up the design a bit. The asymmetry of them to conform with his tunic's skirt is inspired by Marin from Saint Seiya, who really rocks the asymmetrical leggings.
And on the right is an initial go at Gwenhwyfar, precursor to Guinivere (and I try to respect the Welsh spellings and pronounciations generally, but I may sometimes refer to her as just "Gwen" in this case). I was inspired by a fragmentary dialogue between her and an antagonistic warrior Melwas (who spends half the dialogue trying to fight Cai actually), where he calls her "Gwenhwyfar of the deer's glance", which brought a vision of a spooky lanky cryptid lady with all-black too-long eyes to mind.
The battle of Camlann was said to be brought about by conflict between Gwenhwyfar and her sister Gwenhwyfach, and a blow struck by the latter to the former, but they might also be like...reflections of the same person's good and bad sides or something?? It's all very murky. In any case, I couldn't stop thinking of Gwen as someone who punches dudes, and the main other instance of that in Welsh legends are their versions of "witches", who wear armour and kill with iron claws. Gwen's mother is a member of the Roman nobility, so I thought fuck it, let's get real wacky and ahistorical and dress her like a cestus-wielding gladiator. Roman influence, iron claws, punching dudes, it all comes together.
Oh, and her father is a giant, so I drew a little Arthur to scale at the bottom to show she's inherited some of that too. I wanna draw her more and refine this, make her spookier (one Triad presents her as being three people? Or Arthur just had three wives with the same name? It might just be a pun? Unclear???) But for now, here's one final page of assorted stuff, presented a couple ways up for clarity:
So there's another Bedwyr; below him, the Cath Palug, the giant cat Cai fights in the poem Pa Gur, which I do intend to do a big funky monster design for, but much like Trwyth in the first post, I had fun doing a human one too. What, am I not gonna draw a catgirl when I can draw a catgirl?
From the other angle, there's Melwas, foe of Cai and Gwen mentioned above. He describes himself as young, and Gwen calls him a "lad of black and yellow", so I made him a twink with dyed hair, but I'll do a more full design later. Probably not before doing Cai's fight with the Cath Palug though.
Caledfwlch, the pre-Excalibur, I drew before, but I did a more ostentatious version here based on its description in Rhonabwy's Dream, where drawing it is like flames leaping forth from the jaws of the serpents whose designs were on it, so blinding no-one could look at it. I like to imagine it having the more humble look until the critical moment when it reveals its true form.
Aaaaand then there's Arthur on a motorbike. (You may have noticed there's one of these way further up in this post in one of the Cai pages) This is just me continuing to think about that idea from the last post about him popping back up in the modern day. Mostly what I orbit around is that he'd defeat whatever evil wizard he was summoned to deal with and then people would be like "so your job is done?" and he'd be like "what? no, the world is clearly in grave peril" and start running around destroying fossil fuel infrastructure. In fact I have a real hankering to make that a comic, but I'd need to be like, an actual artist for that.
So anyway the idea is he gets the spirit of his horse (Llamrei) to inhabit the bike, enabling it to do sick physics-defying stunts. Here's another for the road in fact:

i know "microwaved the baby" has become such a meme these days but i think its overlooked how. actually good of a decision that is. because knuckles is sonics ONLY rival at that point and its been pretty established that echidnas were the foil to the rest of mobian society (who were enrooted in chaos energy and it seemed like, a good amount of superstition as well) because they were hyperadvanced in terms of technology. and hedgehog specifically were the poster boy for the mobian race, probably because sonic was the main character but STILL. the fact that SONIC was just born with his legendary power for no apparent reason, he wasn't part of a prophecy like tails or a bloodline like knuckles. but fate gave him his amazing speed even though he is just some guy (at least compared to the rest of the freedom fighters. his family did some important things too but nothing tht really carried down to him. and when we first SEE sonic hes just a normal guy living with his uncle who owns a chili dog stand). knuckles is the exact opposite of that. he was born as like the most important guy on angel island, maybe even all of mobius. but he wasnt BORN with any sort of power. abilities wise, he was the same as his ancestors. and it was only AFTER his father harnessed the technological prowess of his people to grant knuckles abilities to stand toe to toe with sonic and tails (hero of mobius and the chosen one. the other two specialest little guys at tht point) that he got his cool new abilities. archie knuckles was shadow before shadow was even remotely a THING. he was a living chaos emerald for fuck's sake. archie knuckles was the whole ultimate lifeform thing since locke wanted to make knuckles strong enough for whatever disaster he dreamed about, like how shadow was made to resist black dooms invasion in 50 years. and locke was gerald AND maria, since knuckles got traumatized when he left to haven. hell he even did the whole "burning up his energy in a sacrifice that killed himself but then coming back fine (mostly) later" thing. and the fans fucking rag on archie knuckles SO MUCH!!!!! but hes literally just shadow the hedgehog. i didnt intend to make this connection i was originally gonna talk about the implications about how so many people in archie sonic arent born naturally with their powers like theyre implied to in the games (almost all special abilities aside from sonic and tails are either artificially granted or pertain specifically to what species they are like with ray the FLYING squirrel). but. yeah.
you’re literally so based and cool and awesome. to be honest i don’t really even think “locke put knuckles’ egg in a chaos energy chamber to give him powers” is even an incredibly strange plot point it only gets weird when ppl describe it as a microwave. it says way more about locke being an awful dad than archie being an awful story yk. when i first realized what “microwaving his baby” actually was referring to i was lowkey disappointed cause it’s not even that strange in the context of everything

The Edge Of Infinity
(Slight Spoilers. Takes place before Sonic comes back to New Yoke City)

‘Home’.
That was Nine’s first thought when he landed on this strange empty new world. This place was going to be a brand new start for him and for Sonic.
The fox had been traveling through the space between worlds or as he preferred to call it, The Shatteredverse, using the Shard from the Chaos Council’s lair.
Nine got involuntarily involved with the Rebels and Sonic’s problems and joined them into trying to stop the Eggmen’s rule. The fight was hard and difficult. Sonic and him got separated from the others and made it to the energy that powered the entire city.
Nine hacked the systems had taken the Shard from its containment after Sonic got sucked into it. He escaped and left the others to their fates. It just wasn’t his problem anymore.
Back in his lab, he researched and ran tests on the shard. After seeing the blue hedgehog essentially travel to another place, Nine wanted a way to replicate that in a more controlled manner. He need to be able to harness it. The fox spent days working on building a special type of plane that would help him do those exact things. The reason and idea for a plane had actually come from Sonic, albeit unknowingly. It had come from one of his stories about his version of Nine called “Tails”.
Sonic had told him many of their adventures together. How they were “brothers”, took care of each other, and the incredible things they had done. Nine didn’t consider himself a jealous person by any means but he did harbor some resentment towards that version of him. That version of him got to live the good life. He had a best friend that cared for him, the relative safety, security, and happiness. Tails had what he’d had always wanted ever since he was much younger than he was now.
It was those stories from Sonic, even if they seemed to be a little too crazy for it to be true about their relationship, it just made him work that much harder on finding a new home somewhere in the Shatteredverse. It had sounded a bit far fetched but he had witnessed and had confirmation of different universes. So there had to be a possibility.
Those stories about happy times that he never had gave him hope, something he hadn’t quite felt before. Nine needed a place where he could be safe, not have to think about how to survive to the next day. And Sonic needed a new home because his old world was gone. What better way than to combine the two.
Sonic would be there for him, Nine was sure. The hedgehog would see and understand him. Nine had to believe it. It all served as motivation.
He ignored the growing tensions between the Chaos Council and the Rebels outside of his lab. Nine’s work was more important. He put his whole focus on completing his objective which was a simple tasks for him to do. This city had done nothing for him but cause him misery, pain, and suffering. Why should he care for it? Nine had no pity, or damns to give for him care about New Yoke City. Let it burn. He would find a new home, a better home than that horrible place.
It had been a few weeks since Sonic had left the city and Nine had finally finished building and tinkering with his new plane. It was a beauty. Sleek in design, modern, bright red, and it was much better than anything the Chaos Council could think off.
Nine felt ready to go. He had done the calculations, rechecked his equations, brought supplies, and had done the finishing touches to everything he could think of. The plane was finally ready. It was time to test out his new invention.
Using the power of the fragment, the plane was able to open a portal and cross over into a dark shiny place where other crystals fragments containing worlds were as of their own planets. Nine chuckled in disbelief. He had actually did it, not that there was any doubt about it but still, this was incredible. With his coordinates set on finding the perfect world for himself, Nine traveled, leaving just about everything from his old life behind.
In the void between worlds, the fox had traveled for a long time. The coordinates for the ideal world were far away and he could have sworn that he saw a black hedgehog that looked similar to Sonic but it passed too fast for him to be sure. He shrugged it off. Must have be an illusion or space mirage.
After a while, he found the place to start anew. Nine landed his plane there and took in the scenery. With a smile on his face, the fox knew that this planet was the one. He named the new world, ‘The Grim’. It was something of a desolate place but Nine just knew that it could be so much more.
It was perfect because there was no one living on the planet. There were no threats, no worries on survival, no people to try and hurt him. Only happiness, care, and everything good will happen here. With there being nothing in this world, it was practically a blank slate.
And Nine wouldn’t be here alone. Sonic would join him. The speedy hedgehog cared about him, probably more than anyone else had in his entire life. The fox needed that with him. A family. And it wouldn’t matter if it was a family of two. Hell, Sonic already thought of the fox as a little brother so it wouldn’t be a stretch for him to want to stay in this world to be an older brother to him. Not to mention that Sonic would be happy for a chance to have a permanent new home. A home to be able to replace his lost one. And a home like Nine never had.
Nine could just imagine the adventures that he and Sonic would have in this world. Maybe he would be taught how to fly with his original two tails or learn other things his counterpart had known with the presence of the blue hedgehog. It would be perfect. Just the two of them would be needed to make it all work.
In a new place to rebuild and have a fresh start, Nine allowed himself to feel hope for the first time again. Soon those little dreams would become a reality. Things were finally going to go his way and he will be happy. Now he just needed to find Sonic.

The split timeline:
Born in the distant future, Blaze lived in a world destroyed by Iblis. She was one of the few who fought back the rogue god. While she could destroy Iblis, it was a temporary reprieve. Iblis would rise again from the ashes. No matter how Blaze's pyromancy burned Iblis, he would return.
In these excursions, Blaze met a fellow fighter, Silver the hedgehog. Together, they believed that they could destroy Iblis. Try and try again, they failed as much as they did solo. Blaze protected Silver from Iblis' flames with her own, while the younger hedgehog inspired her to keep looking for hope. Despite his earnestness, Blaze found the flames of hope fading.
Until they were told of the Iblis trigger. Given the chance to travel through time and fix the future, Silver leapt for it. Blaze joined him. Together, they learned the cause of their grim future and how to fix it.
Using two chaos emeralds, Silver attempted to seal it within himself.
But it would not take.
Silver did not have the Soleanna royal bloodline, which put Iblis into this eternally raging state. Iblis' flames rose again, threatening to consume the hedgehog. Blaze took the chaos emeralds. Unable to use Chaos Control to freeze Iblis, Blaze begged Silver to do so.
My soul already burns.
It took. Blaze could feel herself burn inside out, the seal would not hold for long. She was holding back the god of time and flame. At her direction, Silver reluctantly sent Blaze across time and space. The hole in the fabric of reality cauterized itself with the chaos emeralds, leaving no trace of Blaze behind.
But that future was erased.
Flames Rekindled:
Born the only daughter of the Emperor of the Sol Empire, Blaze was raised with a strong focus on Noblesse Oblige. Early on in her life, her flames leaked out. Despite well-meaning efforts to keep this power a secret, word got out. The princess is dangerous. Officials would actively avoid her to avoid getting burnt. To mitigate the issue, her father commissioned a cape that would suppress Blaze's flames. It was a temporary fix. The princess wouldn't expel fire, but now would fidget. To burn off this energy, Blaze was forced to take up ballet. Although she was still isolated by her peers, Blaze enjoyed the activity.
This came to an end when an assassin struck at a performance. One of the instructors took the first blow, shielding Blaze and her classmates. The assassin readied the second shot. Blaze, covered in her instructor's blood and surrounded by her terrified peers, leapt and attacked the would-be assassin. Her flames were let loose, burning the cloak her attacker hid in. A blinding shot was fired. When the dust settled, Blaze was standing on the scorched remains of and holding the head of a Badnik.
With the public display of the Princess' flames and fury and with no answers as to who her assassin was, the Empress took Blaze to the Sol Temple to hide her away. She'd be locked away from dangers outside. In the temple, the attendants would avoid her in fear of getting burned. The only one who would come was the temple priest. He had been in the audience at the night of the assassination. At his suggestion, Blaze continued to practice the ballet she knew. Then, with his encouragement, sparks began to appear in her steps. The sparks eventually grew to where Blaze could freely dance in a firestorm, but no scorch marks were found on the sanctuary floorboards.
Come.
One night, Blaze felt the call. The night felt too still, not even the usual steps creaked when she stepped on them. She passed an attendant who seemed to be frozen in time. It didn't matter. The call pulled Blaze down the stairs, to the back of the sanctuary. The door the priest kept locked gave way with no effort. More doors behind it were the same. After the last door, she was dazzled at the sight of seven emeralds that seemed to glow like they were on fire. The princess took the box of emeralds in her arms. They felt warm, comforting. Cradling the box, Blaze returned to her room.
Oddly, the stairs now creaked and the doors were heavy again. The door at the back of the sanctuary wouldn't budge. Blaze beat on it until the priest came. He was shocked to find the Princess in possession of the Sol Emeralds, the precious treasure that the temple guarded. Not only that, but she was not burned by them. More questioning revealed that Blaze was called by the Emeralds themselves to be their user and guardian. With more training, she could potentially grow into the role.
The Sol Incident
One day, the temple was suddenly filled with Badniks. Remembering them from her assassination, Blaze attacked, trying to clear them out. She called for help, but no one came. They were not going for her. Blaze realized that they were heading in the direction the Sol Emeralds were. But by the time she got there, she was too late. The priest’s body was thrown at her feet. The box of the Sol Emeralds was now in the hands of the man who introduced himself only as Nega Eggman. He taunted Blaze to follow him if she was to get the Emeralds back. Nega opened a portal and stepped through it, laughing.
You’re as useless as that deadman.
Blaze followed him to the new world. Here, nothing was familiar. She traveled around to find Nega, only to find Eggman instead. Lost and frustrated, it took Blaze a while to realize that she was being watched. Her watcher came out of hiding, revealing herself to be a young girl named Cream. She invited Blaze to come to her home. Blaze accepted the invitation. At the house, she was overwhelmed by how welcoming and polite both Cream and her mother, Vanilla were. Even then, all Blaze felt comfortable telling them was that she was seeking to gain the Sol Emeralds that Nega had taken away from her home world. Cream offered to get Blaze more help from her friends. Although Blaze tried to refuse, Cream’s insistence led to the two adventuring to find the Sol Emeralds.
Even though Cream insisted, Blaze refused to accept help. When everyone told her that she needed Sonic’s help, the princess brushed them off. It got to the point where she decided she had to fight Sonic off in order to finish her task. Blaze clashed with the hedgehog and lost. Here, she was forced to explain what happened and the stakes of the Sol Emeralds being in this world. Offering her a hand to get up, Sonic tells her that she can accept help. She is not cursed to be alone. After all, she had the company of--
Where is Cream?
Blaze’s companion was missing. In her place was a letter from Eggman. He had the young rabbit and wants Blaze to meet him, alone. Realizing that she could not take Eggman as well as Nega, Blaze agreed to split with Sonic. He would take care of Nega Eggman while she rescued Cream. After defeating Eggman, Blaze returned to meet with Sonic.
The new puzzle they had to deal with was the condition of their worlds and returning Blaze to hers. The princess relaxed, not realizing that behind her, Eggman and Nega were waiting. They ambushed the group, knocking Blaze out and stealing the energy of the Sol Emeralds. The plan of the scientists was now truly revealed: by stealing the power of the Sol and Chaos Emeralds, they could destroy both dimensions. The sheer threat of that power being unleashed would make both worlds bow before them.
Blaze was distraught. She had ultimately failed with the Emeralds drained. She failed the temple, her empire, and now her friends. Sonic revealed that all was not lost yet. He still had the Chaos Emeralds… and a little trick up his sleeve. There were two sides to the power of the Chaos Emeralds, why wouldn’t there be two sides to the Sol Emeralds as well?
Theirs is filled with evil, but I’m not.
The fire in Blaze was rekindled. The flames that leaked out of Blaze were harnessed, burning brighter than ever before. Side by side with Super Sonic, she was Burning Blaze. Together, they defeated and separated the two Eggmen and their worlds, parting on a promise of friendship.
The Jeweled Scepter Incident
Back in her home world, Blaze first began by overseeing the rebuilding of the Sol Temple. She reached out to her parents for funding and for guards to prevent further attacks. Word began to spread that this rebuilding effort was to regain favor with the populace so Blaze could return to the palace. Wanting to gain the favor of the people on her own, after the Sol Temple was rebuilt, Blaze kept her residence there. Her family did send guards to the temple to assist Blaze and prepare her for eventually moving back home. Blaze refused them.
The princess had one goal in mind before returning home: prove she can protect the smiles of her people. Knowing the power of one of the secret treasures of the kingdom, Blaze decided the first step to her goal was to catalog and add protection to all of the secret treasures of her kingdom. She oversaw the operation, hand picking many of the workers to prevent Nega Eggman from getting any information on this. Somehow, word got out about the last piece to be cataloged, the Jeweled Scepter.
Before Blaze could get to it, the scepter was stolen by robotic pirates. Blaze cursed herself for acting so slow on it. She was about to return to make plans to retrieve it when she realized Sonic and Tails were at the scene! After inquiring about her friends’ appearances, Blaze filled them in on the Jeweled Scepter. The group teamed up with the Coconut Crew to retrieve the Scepter and the Chaos Emeralds.
Nega Eggman used the Emeralds to distract the group from his plan. The Jeweled Scepter was the key to using what was known as “The Power of the Stars”, a great power that held up the boundaries of the worlds. Just as easily as it could uphold it, the power could destroy both Blaze’s and Sonic’s world in an instant. With Super Sonic and Burning Blaze both fighting, they barely managed to retrieve the treasure before Nega Eggman could do so.
Now with the treasure in hand, Blaze sent off Tails and Sonic to their home. From here, she returned the Jeweled Scepter to its hiding place, only guarded further. With this completed, Blaze returned to the castle.

Bio: hog was a experiment from Zeno that rebelled and joined the resistance,he is the “youngest” out of zenos reformed experiments,but also the most deadly. Normally, hog behaves like a young kid,very energetic,dancing and being like a kid version of sonic,however,if he gets angry enough,he will turn into scorched,a beastly version of himself,in this state,he has no control as he will attack or even kill everything in sight,the resistance would have to calm him down to revert him. Bio: terion was once a developer for sega who died putting his soul into the companies games,he was freed from his game prison by Sarah in exchange for him helping the resistance against Zeno. Terion behaves and acts like a glitch,randomly teleporting all over the place,phasing through walls,and materializing out of nowhere,he is a prankster but still has a lot of heart within him,comforting the sad and scared.

Bio: the very first rebel creation of Zeno,faker is an intelligent creation,often helping tails with plans and others with projects,faker possesses the same abilities of sonic,but there’s also a catch,he can harness a beast form,which is much taller,pa,er and more bloody,however,unlike hog,he can control this form,he often uses this form to defend the resistance and to snap scorched out of his anger filled rampage. Although he’s not the best at making sad ones laugh,he’s like the voice of guidance of the group.

Bio: devoid was once sonic just like fleetway but thanks to eggman obtaining the time stones, and some of unfortunate events,this caused devoid face to become a void that will suck anyone and anything into it,even sucking his best friend up on accident. He wears a mask from a bad nick to shield his face from everyone. He mostly isolates himself away from the group,but when he does decide to speak up he is soft spoken,but kind,but on occasion someone has to calm him down as he will sometimes get trapped in his own insanity,he also refuses to use the void to defeat Zeno,he doesn’t wanna risk the others getting sucked in and his trauma with sucking his best friend in is too great.

Bio: curse was once a regular sonic until one fateful day,while sonic and knuckles were racing,an accident occured,leaving sonic to have very damaged legs and the death of knuckles,leaving everyone sonic was close to turning on him,leaving to eggman taking him in and showing him more affection then he’d ever got from him including metal sonic,and thanks to that sonic began to heal emotionally and physically. However,he then developed some type of curse,which caused everyone who he was extremely close to him to die,and eggman fell to that fate,so metal sonic sent him into a demential void,leaving sonic to dawn the name “curse” when curse discovered the Zeno impacted world,he hesitated but he decided to go to the resistance as help out,he tries his best to not get too close to the residents who are alive so they don’t get affected by his curse,however the .exes of the base are immune to the curse cause thier already dead so sonic does his best to hang out with them to make off for “lost time” he’s often seen hanging out with the .exes,unfortunately he isn’t able to help much thanks to his leg condition,he isn’t able to run as fast as he used to and if he tried,he’d be unable to use them at all. Curse is often soft spoken but still kind and the golden hearted hero that everyone knew. He’s the closest to sonic tails will ever get.

She now has stitches all over her body as all her organs were taken out and replaced with black tentacles. Amy is often trying to be kind with the other residents,she has absolutely no feelings for sonic anymore,as if being killed by the god who looked like her crush killed her sense of romantic love. She can mutilate her body to attack with her new tentacles,leaving holes in her dead furr and skin.

She’s a secret agent by the resistance,she dawns a twisted despise and blends in with Zeno and his allies,then at the dead if night,she returns and gives the resistance critical information. Sally.exe has been rendered blind,but is still able to navigate through her other senses,while she is on the resistances side,undercover,she will not hesitate to attack other members of the resistance,this is to keep her secret identity a secret,when no one is looking though,she heals whoever resistance member she hurt.

" If yah are gonna linger for longer than yah have to, yah could at least do some work or help out with what ah have to do today. " Not that she particularly wanted Scourge to linger any longer than he had to. They'd already done their business an hour or more ago, but yet he remained. Something about wanting to spend some "real time" with her.
Ever since she'd been trying to get him to do more than just loiter around, and she'd managed some success with that. He at least put away lunch. Or, well, what little was left. After that though? Nope, he'd taken it upon himself to just sit around wherever she was and basically tease her from afar.
" Ah'm not even askin' yah to do anythin' that'd be considered a highly skilled labor or anythin'. Just helpin' move some stuff around to make my day a lot easier. Would that really be so har- " She was turning around as she spoke, but right as she got to facing him, he leaned forward from where he was sitting and suddenly placed a little kiss right on her nose.
Once that was done, he just leaned back with that commonly smug look on his face. She then gave him her disappointed look, before just reaching her bionic arm out and shoving him off the face he was sitting on to watch her work, and she just watched him fall.

Silver The Hedgehog from: Time Warper AU
Summary: Silver is back, a desolate world for a future, what else can he do but repeat his routine and go back again. Silver starts to think distantly, if his friends from the past think of him as an omen, of death, of failure. Because he just can't seem to get it right.
Eggmans latest plot seems worse then the last, and they need all the help they can get. When things go wrong, Silver starts to think that the future is hopeless. In the process of savings Tails from falling debris, Sonic is caught in a blast. And the battlefield falls silent. He isn't breathing, and Silver feels the district pit of horror growing in his stomach. And Amy cries out.
This is what ruined the future, and he did nothing to stop it.
His power whirls, and the few chaos Emeralds they had collected gather around him, powers mixing. And Silver wishes, he knows he can't go back, it would break the timeline if there was two of him. He can't, he can't but he wishes he could.
And he reaches out.
And he pulls.
The power is a rush, the false feeling of movement more so. The feeling is exhilarating and exhausting at the same time. So he stumbles. And opens his eyes. Silver opens them to the storage room, exactly twelve minutes before the planning had started. Where he'd been putting some boxes away for Amy.
He feels sick. Knuckles calls for him to hurry up, and he looks to the mirror on the wall.
"What the hell just happened to me?"
TL;DR: After Sonic dies on a particularly dark mission to stop Eggman, Silver, frustrated at being unable to stop it, unknowingly harnesses the Chaos Emeralds power, mixed with his own, to rewind time 24 hours. This is unforseen side effects.
