Why Spider and Neytiri should get along so well in the future:
With Jake, it’s confusing. A son for a son. He just loves Spider? Just like that? What changed? And Jake, when he tries to explain it, says he’s always loved Spider, always cared for him, just couldn’t show it. This doesn’t make sense to Spider. This is because I don’t think Jake fully understands why he wasn’t close with Spider before. I think he saw Spider as a reminder of who he was. Every other human on Pandora is more like Tommy. They are scientific, single minded, focused on everything around them and what makes it tick. Spider is little Jake almost as much as Lo’ak is, all heart and impulse and impatience and a longing for family and connection. He’s just so so human. He’s as fragile on this planet as Jake felt on Earth without his legs. It’s too hard to confront and I don’t think Jake knows why. I think Spider can tell that Jake isn’t being fully honest when he tries to explain, when Jake can’t even tell.
Neytiri knows why she couldn’t accept Spider, and she is clear and direct. “I hated you because I couldn’t See past your humanity and your father. Now I See you.” I feel like it’s very simple. It takes a while before they are fully comfortable, and every once and while something takes them back to wariness, but that honestly and ability to See connects them. And honestly, Spider understands why. He always understood why Neytiri hated him. Neytiri was always clear, from day one with where he stood and she is now. Jake was always confusing, still is, and in some ways that’s worse. I think they figure it out eventually but that’s my biggest reason why I think Spider is a mama’s boy. Their communication styles just work.
Additionally, they both have grown up with trauma in a way that none of the other Sully’s have (besides Jake, but his was on an entire different planet and sometimes it makes me sad to think about how lonely that must be sometimes, I hope he has talks with Norm a lot). Spider is a war orphan, and he grew up with that pain and neglect, that reality. Neytiri lost her sister very young, and her father fairly young as well to the same war. I think, even though Spider is a child and she treats him as such, she understands and respects that he also has this trauma and is used to dealing with it in a way her the other kids aren’t. He wasn’t sheltered like her kids were until the humans returned. They both are used to growing up in war, and living in its shadow. I feel like she’s the first one he talks to when he’s ready to share something bad from his childhood or his time with the RDA, because he knows she can take it and now that she Sees him, she will understand whatever he had to do to get through it. Kiri might cry if he told her about the brain scanning machine, but Neytiri will be quiet so it’s easier to share. Lo’ak might not understand at first why he had to show the Recoms the ikran roost, but Neytiri understands it kept them distracted from looking for camp and might’ve gotten them killed in the process. She can trade her own stories in return.

so we all know about “who the hell is jordie?” “someone i trusted. someone i couldn’t afford to lose”, right, but what we forget is the significance of kaz calling jesper ‘jordie’. it’s not just that jesper is a brother to him- jordie was kaz’s protector. jordie was the 13 year old that protected kaz and who kaz protected, the goofy one who made him smile and bought him hot chocolate at night. he felt safe around him. he trusted jordie with his life. in calling jesper ‘jordie’, kaz shows that subconsciously, he trusts jesper to protect him, that he could turn to him should he need it. and every time he yells at jesper, the gambler who couldn’t stay out of the red, for losing another bet, getting in debt again, all he can see is that same thirteen-year-old boy, swindled out of everything he owned and left for dead on the street. with every word he yells at jesper, he silently urges him to stay alive. with every bet jesper makes, all kaz can think is “i can’t lose a brother. not again.”

Where’s that text post that’s like “Wilson is kind, gentle death and House is rough, painful life” because first of all, GO OFF; second of all, I have more to add:
House is justice; Wilson is clemency.
House is harsh truth; Wilson is comforting lies.
House is abrasive idealism; Wilson is resigned realism.
House is spiky vulnerability; Wilson is velvet guardedness.
House is constructive cruelty; Wilson is destructive kindness.
House is focused passion; Wilson is diffuse romance.
House is a gleeful perpetrator; Wilson is a willing victim.
House is self-sabotage; Wilson is self-sacrifice.

cannot stop thinking about weird barbie and queercoding and how her subplot mirrors margot robbie barbie’s main plotline and the Implications of it all. because like. weird barbie is introduced as this outsider who lives on the fringes of barbieland society (it’s intentionally never made clear whether she was exiled or chose to set up camp there herself; the way mckinnon plays her makes me think probably a mix of both) who, as one of the other barbies (i want to say alexandra shipp/the author?) explains, was one of the prettiest barbies until a little girl played with her too hard, and now she’s an outcast. the barbies call her Weird Barbie behind her back and to her face. this is because of something she couldn’t control (first parallel to robbie’s barbie, whose crisis is brought on by gloria’s own feelings of negativity) and yet she’s forced away because of it. going to hop onto a brief tangent here and say one of the things that never sat right with me in toy story 3 was the weird...demonization? of the preschoolers who chew on/break/otherwise harm the toys because in a story where the Very Ultimate Dream of any toy is to be loved and played with it’s bizarre that they then seemed to be saying well, actually, there are Wrong ways to play with toys when these kids didn’t know any better. and it would’ve been easy for that to be weird barbie’s deal - a freaky little girl played with her in the “wrong” way and doomed her as a result. but she gets to be a hero! she leads the resistance!
robbie’s barbie is immune to ken’s brainwashing bc she experienced the real world’s misogyny and more specifically felt gloria’s messy complex human emotions - her “dark and crazy” drawings, as sasha calls them - stemming from the pain of being a woman in society. weird barbie has never been to the real world and still manages to stay immune, along with her mansion of misfit toys (including, as other tumblr users have pointed out, magic earring ken aka Gay Ken) - there’s layers to that. in both robbie’s barbie’s and weird barbie’s cases, their girls placed Weird and Unpleasant feelings onto the perfect ideal that is Barbie™ and absolutely upended their lives as a result - but they became fully realized people because of it. barbie chooses to go back to the real world to live as a human woman because she wants to feel all those messy and bizarre human feelings! she loves them! she loves humanity and the avenues through which she reaches that love are women being unabashedly freaky and weird both within and outside of her understanding of the world she lives in. what a queer experience. what a way to showcase that scary exciting feeling of being on the very fringes of girlhood and needing to define it for yourself. pink birkenstocks. she leaves barbieland better than she found it. she can’t stay there anymore. she loves the people around her and she loves herself and that self-love is something she’s earned now. weird barbie gets to run sanitation. gloria’s ideas for ordinary barbie foster understanding. barbie is sasha’s stepmom now probably. greta gerwig you’ve done it again.

thinking about klance.
keith who is always left behind and abandoned, either voluntarily or not. keith who has trouble trusting people and talking to people and getting along with people and-…keith having trouble with people in general. keith who is used to fending for himself and not relying on anyone bc the two (2) times he’s done that, his parents and shiro (died, left, disappeared), didn’t end well. keith who despite finding shiro again couldn’t help the gap forming between them as his brain and heart insist that something will happen again and shiro being here isn’t permanent. keith being proven right in season 2/3 and being left alone again.
lance who is SO trusting that he comes across as a bit naive. lance who worked hard to get where he is, who studied and practiced day and night to be at the top of the class. lance who always fell short and just missed the cut and ended up a cargo pilot. lance who only excelled once keith was gone but was stuck living in his shadow. despite the fact that iverson was mean to keith, keith was his favorite student and iverson always held a grudge for lance taking his place and was downright cruel to him at times. lance who started a rivalry w keith in his head bc he was determined to prove that he could be better than keith. lance who was moved from blue to red paladin, following after keith yet again. lance who worked hard to prove that he was worthy of being red paladin but always failing bc he was never keith, he was never good enough.
klance who found what they lacked in each other. lance who was there for keith when it seemed like the universe was crumbling down around him. lance who stood by keith’s side and told him what he needed to hear, supporting him being leader and helping lead the team together. keith seeing lance as an equal and relying on him the way lance relied on him. keith who was loved and supported by someone who never left, lance who was seen for who he was and who never doubted him or his place on the team. klance who turned on each other.
keith who turned into what he hated and leaving lance behind. lance who saw keith as weak and selfish for leaving him the team behind. keith who came back to a lance who was so angry and upset, but who never left his side bc lance was just Like That. lance who was so hurt and upset, who said cruel things in the vacuum of space, but keith never saw him as less for it, who never got angry enough to hurt lance back.
at the end of everything, lance searching for keith to sit at his side as they watched the sunset bc lance will always be at keith’s side. keith who told lance how relieved he was and hopeful bc he knows what lance is capable of and how much he needs him. klance being what the other needs, holding each other’s heart in their hands but never taking the opportunities to crush each other. lance who never left keith behind, keith who never saw lance as less despite the vitriol he spat at times.

Idk if you just can't face the fact that the apartheid state of Israel that you're in support of is inherently violent in not only literal violence by inacting a genocidal war against an entire people, but in its very foundation as a settler state that forcibly displaced people using international law, military power, etc, and then spent decades of time and money to further dehumanize said people so you'd be ok with the socially engineered violence so that it has a right to exist in your eyes, than yeah you're STILL supporting zionism lol all zionism is inherently wrong and it is violent!!

timid, white, borderline mentally ill young man meets an exuberant, energetic and dramatic young man while travelling to a new place. together, they create a MENS ONLY club which serves as a metaphor for queerness. they also have a homoerotic friendship btw. however, by the end of the film, energetic dramatic friend dies of a bullet to the head and the timid man must watch bittersweetly as the club he once happily created with this friend falls apart. now real question is this the premise of fight club or dead poets society
