What are your thought on Helluva Boss, if you have any?
I have many, as a matter of fact.
It’s sad to say that I don’t think I like the show much anymore. It has good moments, but the show overall just feels like a messy fanfic.
It tries to force emotional moments with little to no build up.
Think S1E3 where Loona yells at Blitzo that he’s not her dad and she doesn’t need him, that had zero build up and feels totally out of place. Blitzo wasn’t even acting much like a dad in that moment, he was acting like a boss trying to get his employee to focus on the job.
You need to show us more of Blitzo and Loona’s relationship, and actually get us invested, then moments like this will actually feel impactful.
The comedy isn’t great
I’m not a comedy expert by an ny means, but the jokes in this show are timed very weirdly. They’re very quick and you hardly have time to even process what’s going on before it cuts away. It isn’t helped by the fact that there’s so much going on on screen most of the time that I have to pause or go back to understand what’s happening.
Also the subject matter of the jokes. “Baby dick!” “hole!” “bitch!” ohh Moxxie’s getting sexually assaulted! isn’t that funny? Look there are dicks everywhere! Isn’t incest funny?!
The Stolas story is wasted potential
The Stolas from the Ars Goetia was a fallen angel who fought alongside Lucifer in the war against heaven. He used the stars to guide Lucifer’s army and help them evade God’s forces. For this crime he was damned to Hell for eternity, a place where nothing good can thrive.
In the show he’s a demon prince born already in Hell, and he’s part of the Goetia family, a royal family of powerful demons that marry each other (???) to produce heirs.
Not only would keeping Stolas’ original origin story make his character more interesting, it also would add depth to all the other Goetia characters. They fought for a cause they believed in, and they lost, now they’re all trapped in Hell forever. Why is Stella so angry all the time? Because she was on the losing side of a war, and now she’s literally in Hell.
Speaking of Stella, the Ars Goetia being fallen angels would mean that they wouldn’t have blood family like parents or siblings, so Paimon wouldn’t be Stolas’ father and Andrealphus wouldn’t be Stella’s brother. But, if they don’t have blood family, what about Via? Well, angels can definitely have children if they choose to. But why were Stolas and Stella arranged to be married? Because Lucifer wanted his fallen angels to conceive powerful children and expand the population/legions of Hell.
Heaven and Hell are at constant war. It’s more subtle right now, with both sides trying to manipulate/guide humanity indirectly from the background, but eventually it will culminate in a second battle in Heaven, where Lucifer will battle the arch angel Michael to the death. Lucifer wants to have as many demons on his side as possible, so he’ll have a better chance at winning. So he and his demons corrupt humans so they’ll end up in Hell, they create demons from Hell itself, like Imps and Succubi, and pair up the demons of the Ars Goetia to create powerful demon children.
Millie’s character could be a lot better
I’m convinced that no one involved in this show has ever spoken to an actual southern person. All of Millie’s southernisms are so forced and her accent isn’t great.
Everyone and their mother has talked about how Millie doesn’t have much of a character outside of being Moxxie’s girl boss wife, but what character arc could she have had?
In the pilot, Millie is all smiles, hypes up Blitzo’s bad ideas, and brushes off Blitzo stalking her and Moxxie. She gives off a people pleaser vibe. Even if something bothers her she just pushes it down and puts on a smiley face so no one thinks she’s bothered. Southern women are taught from a very young age that making a scene is the worst thing you can possibly do. Don’t disrupt anything, be respectful, and save face. Millie would’ve grown up with this mentality.
When Millie and Moxxie got together, her parents did not approve. Not only was Moxxie not the rough and tough cowboy they always imagined their daughter ending up with, but he was also the son of an extremely dangerous crime boss that terrorized the ring of wrath for years, and they did not want their baby getting involved in that. They continued to see each other in secret, until Moxxie cut all ties with his father and asked Millie to run away with him. She agreed, even though it broke her heart to leave her family. She packed a bag, stuck a note on the screen door, and ran off to Imp city with Moxxie.
When Millie comes back to wrath for the harvest moon festival, she’s very nervous about how everyone will react to seeing her. Family is all these Imps have, so just up and abandoning your family is a big deal. When her parents see her again, they are happy, but do throw some passive aggressive remarks at her, and they are straight up cold to Moxxie. They talk about the pain games and how Millie probably shouldn’t do it this year. They say it may be too tough for her, considering she’s a city girl now. She takes shit from her family the whole episode until the end when her parents are scolding her and talking shit about Moxxie for loosing the fight with Striker. She finally stands up to them and says that, yeah, maybe she’s changed, but she’s happy and in love. That should be enough for them, and if it isn’t, she doesn’t want to stay any longer. She leaves with a new air of confidence.

i don't normally make posts about things myself but i keep thinking about how the whole point of EW was that the strength you needed didn't come from a god, or a supreme being, or a primal or anything: it all comes from you
your love for this world and your friends and everything that you allow purpose and meaning- that is what gives you the strength to climb to your feet, even when you feel utterly alone at the end of the universe
In Shb we had Ardbert who gave us the strength to take that next step, but in EW we are alone (save for Zenos i guess but this ain't about him). That's why even though I agree that "it was the ancients" is becoming an extremely stale take, I still forgive MotR and the Twelve because it's hammering in EW's theme of being enough to handle what life throws at you without needing to rely on something much larger than yourself
EW's plot- and even the Omicron quests -point to the fact that dynamis alone does nothing. It has to be moved to action by feelings/emotions for it to work. As N-7000 says, "all [dynamis] requires is for us to ask "what if?""
Zodiark did not save the Ancients. Hydaelyn cannot save Her Children. The Twelve do not answer your cries. Primals are bound to the prayers of those that summon them.
The Warrior of Light is an imperfect being. More talented than most, but imperfect yet. EW does not make you a god. It shows that change can be wrought by anyone, at any time. You need not do it alone: there are others willing to come to your aid. But when you are alone, at the end of your rope, facing insurmountable odds: the strength you need can only come from within.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the most chill person in this fandom when it comes to ships and characters. Like I can find reasons as to why each ship would work and wouldn't.
Pandalily? Academic rivals FOR SURE.
Jegulus? HELLO??? Bestfriends brother? Grumpy x Sunshine?
Partyvan? Peter deserves ALL that love.
Marylene? Not friends, not lovers, but something. It's so heartbreakingly cute.
I can even find stuff for ships I don't even ship.
Jeverus? After he saves his life? Hell yeah!
Dramoine? ENEMIES TO LOVERS! REDEMPTION ARCS!
Prongsfoot? Best friends to lover? Sure, man, go for it!
Regulus x Sirius?.......... You... You do you bro???
Snily? That "always" line was cute, I gotta admit.
I genuinely won't judge like if you ship them - if you see them working out; GO. FOR. IT. THEYRE FICTIONAL!! Have your own opinions, it's okay!
AND THE CHARACTERS!!!
Yes, they all have their flaws. Yes, James bullied Severus. Yes, James repeatedly asked Lily even though she'd already turned her down. Yes, he changed!!
Yes, Severus called the love of his life a slur. Yes, he bullied children. Yes he cared for Harry to some extent! Even if it's only as a tribute to Lily, that's better than nothing.
Yes, Dumblewh*re raise Harry for slaughter.... That's it... I have nothing more to add for him.... Bitch.
Yes, Regulus is a death eater. Yes, Regulus was obsessed with the dark lord since childhood. Yes, he stole the horcrux!!
Sorry for the rant but like I'm seeing so much hate for so many characters and ships and I don't understand it. There's as much to love as there is to hate. It wouldn't be fair if they were perfect flawless characters. They're designed to be insufferable and loving and idiotic and a little crazy.

thoughts on demigod daddy issues
I’m avoiding my responsibilities and my poll is proving controversial, so I thought I’d do my own writeup on each candidate:
Morgott: His dad presumably abandoned him in a sewer. Given Godfrey’s association with the crucible, I doubt it was Godfrey’s decision to confine the omen twins to the sewers and I have no doubt that he loved them, seeing Godfrey’s tender moment holding Morgott’s body. However, the twins ended up in that sewer nonetheless. Either Godfrey opposed this but didn’t fight for them hard enough, or he concluded it was for their own good. Still, Morgott defends the Erdtree like his father before him. Certified daddy issues
Mohg: Same backstory as Morgott, except we don’t get that poignant moment that we do with Godfrey and Morgott in the game. He seems to have abandoned everything Godfrey stood for anyway. Daddy issues present but not to the same extent as his brother
Miquella: For a while, he was daddy’s ultimate special golden boy. They crafted golden order fundamentalist incantations together as gifts for each other (and it’s never mentioned that Radagon did anything like this with his other children). He tried his very hardest to use the Golden Order’s teachings to heal his sister’s afflictions, but they ultimately could not save her and he turned his back on his father’s order. We don’t know how Radagon reacted, but based on his zealotry combined with his previous relationship with his son, there must have been a serious fallout. Certified daddy issues
Malenia: There aren’t any textual hints to her and Radagon’s relationship, but we can speculate. Her father’s order couldn’t heal her afflictions… did she feel like her father didn’t try hard enough for her? That he chose his own faith over her wellbeing? Subtextual daddy issues
Ranni: She probably despises her father for abandoning her mother and leaving her a broken husk; her mother, who was her greatest teacher and role model, who she protects and whose legacy and memory she continues to defend. On top of that, she despises her empyreanhood and wants no part of the Two Fingers’ designs. I wouldn’t be surprised if she blamed her father for the fingers’ hold on her fate, too. Certified daddy issues; however, she doesn’t seem to revel in any hatred for him and just does what needs to be done to realize her vision
Rykard: Mr. “Lord of Blasphemy,” son of Mr. “leal hound of the Golden Order.” You don’t dedicate your entire life to opposing everything your own father stands for, fight the “most appalling battle in the entirety of the Shattering,” feed yourself to the embodiment of treason against the Erdtree, or make it your goal to “devour the very gods” (god being your father’s counterpart), and not have some kind of daddy issues complex. There’s a potent and multifaceted dynamic here. The red feathers on the Gelmir knight helms might indicate a reverence for his father’s legacy. He worked alongside his father in enforcing the Golden Order’s rule of law. Yet he doesn’t seen to have ever held any personal loyalty to his father’s order, having planned to betray it long before he actually committed treason. He demonstrates affection for his mother, brother, and sister, but not his father. He lusts for his own power and independent authority, but echoes the violence carried out by his father in his own practices. What does his father mean to him? Is he a role model, or a tyrant, something to be destroyed and replaced? Or is he both? Certified implied daddy issues
Radahn: He inherited his famous red lion’s mane from Radagon, who was said to have hated his own red hair. He admires his father and his “heroic” legacy. Yet he walks around in Godfrey cosplay, seeking to emulate Godfrey’s legendary example on the battlefield. He doesn’t seem to have inherited Radagon’s love of the Erdtree, either. “I was born a champion’s cub. Now, I am the lord of the battlefield’s lion.” Though he admires his father’s strength, there seems to be a distance between them, a distance that has deepened his obsession with Godfrey as a role model. Did he feel under-appreciated by Radagon? self-conscious? abandoned? Certified daddy issues
Godwyn: We have no idea what his relationship to his father was. It is interesting that he takes a more reconciliatory approach to conflict than Godfrey, though.
Godrick: I don’t think we technically know who his direct father is; I think it’s likely he’s further down the line of Marika’s descendants rather than being a direct son of someone like Godwyn. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have some of the most potent issues with the legacy of his forebears in the game. He’s obsessed with living up to the legacy of the golden lineage, so much so that he steals other people’s limbs to make himself stronger. He constantly references Godfrey; his axe is an homage to him. “Great Godfrey, didst thou witness?” Everything he does is to make himself into what he believes to be more worthy of his lineage. Certified “daddy” issues. yes this still counts to me
