Of course genies get stuck in their lamps until they get a wish of freedom or have someone else take their place. Let’s say Genie!Yuu already solved that problem years ago but still has the ability to grant wishes because I said so.

Again, how they got rid of their lamp is entirely up for debate but now they just want to be normal and they just…can’t.

Anytime Grim wishes for tuna or some other food and somehow always magically comes true but Yuu will never admit it was them (they like seeing Grim excited)

I’ll just just straight into it

Chapter 4

The Great Seven have favorites and it is definitely not any version of Yuu, including this one. They got hypnotized, placed under house arrest, and stopped an uprising the entire winter break and didn’t even get their initial job done (thank Seven for the Ramshackle ghosts)

Jamil

He initially didn’t plan on using Genie!Yuu directly, only to get close to Crowley which honestly wouldn’t have done anything but when the fact that they were a genie slipped out, his plans changed.

He could just wish Kalim out of his position, out of the school, and then he’d be free! The problem was that you were free so you could deny his wish if he asked directly. So instead, he played the waiting game, prepared to hypnotize you until Azul and the tweels showed up and ruined everything.

After the overblot and his plan had been exposed, he expected no forgiveness from the Ramshackle residents but was surprised when you offered to grant a wish, but only one.

Of course, it was simple.

“I wish to be free.”

And with one flick of the wrist, it was granted….but nothing happened. Why did nothing happen? Were you lying? Is this some sick joke?!

“I already granted it. The reason nothing happened is because you already are free, you just have yet to find your own version of it.”

Kalim

How could anyone not love Kalim when they first meet him? Genie!Yuu certainly did although Grim had some other words. He was sweet and funny and the fact that he was this…mean towards his own dorm mates stunned you. Something was wrong.

You were glad that when you managed to get free, that you found the Octo trio, and that they helped you uncover the truth. You wanted to give Kalim a wish as an apology for everything that happened, but he refused.

“I don’t need any wishes, I have everything I could want, and that includes Jamil being safe and alive.”

The Scarabia Duo Trio

Now that the sadness is out of the way…

UNHINGED. ALL OF YOU.

Kalim has the mental age of a fork, Jamil is violent when need be, and you’re a powerful genie who can grant wishes and makes people’s lives hell!

That being said, you’re just a bunch of peas in a pod shut up Jamil you’re a part of this to and literally don’t leave each other alone.

They make sure no one takes advantage of the fact that Genie!Yuu is…well…a genie to get what they want.

You and Jamil make sure Kalim stays alive another day.

You and Kalim make sure Jamil doesn’t lose his fucking mind.

All in all, a fun group that I would love to hang out with 100/10.

So this is going to be my attempt to summarize the newest chapter (chapter 4, part 1) of twisted wonderland.

Again, spoiler alert since I’m about to write out everything that happened, and I apologize for my grammar in advance.

This time in your dream, you saw Jafar on his way to get the magic lamp-> woke up -> the ghosts are talking about the winter holiday -> it’s a holiday where all students go back home and celebrate the holiday with their family -> ghosts asked about Grim’s family -> Grim said he don’t have that many memories of it, he only remember being by himself and hungry, it was really cold and he think he was waiting for someone -> Grim didn’t care about it that much since it’s all in the past, he would rather be focused on future -> ghosts were touched and said he can celebrate the holiday with them -> in class -> Crewel said even if it is holiday you shouldn’t forget about homework -> end of class -> everyone went back to their dorm to pack for going back home using the mirrors -> you decide to go to the mirrors too to ask Crowley if cafeteria is closing for holiday or what ->

And you saw this -> Crowley said that he’s going to a southern island for vacation to find clues to help you go back home -> Grim ask Crowley to bring him and you along if he’s actually searching for clues -> Crowley thought it would ruin his vacation it could be a dangerous situation so he’ll be going alone -> besides he have a more important mission for you that could affect this entire school -> which is feed the fire fairies that runs this school’s heating system with firewood -> since the ghost that was working on it went back home -> he also gives you a smartphone just in case if you need to contact him -> later you, Ace, Deuce exchanged numbers just in case -> Ruggie showed up with giant bags of food -> he bought all the almost expired food from cafeteria, he also mentioned that he almost does this everytime there’s a break -> Ace ask if he can even finish all these food before it expires -> Ruggie “what do you mean if I can finish it, this amount of food are gonna be gone in seconds with all those brats next door. besides, I need to at least let my grandma eat till she’s full in holiday time. Oh shoot the frozen food are gonna melt, bye.” -> Jack showed up with a bunch of cactus -> Ace asked if he’s opening a flower shop or what -> Jack said it’s just his hobby and he can’t just leave it here to die -> Jack “enough about me, where Ruggie senpai lives has a lot of poor families. They shares food among the weaks, that is how a hyena lives.” -> Leona “huh, just the thought of eating with a bunch of other kids gives me chills, just one was already annoying enough.” -> Jack asked if Leona is actually going home since Leona did not bring any sort of luggage -> Leona said all he need is his wallet and phone, he has a lot of clothes at home anyway -> then both him and Jack left -> Cater and Trey showed up too -> Cater ask Trey if he can go to his house since Cater’s sisters will definitely work him out a lot -> Trey said that he doesn’t mind -> but he’s going to make Cater work anyway since his family have a bakery and winter is the buziest time for them -> Riddle showed up too looking a little complicated because of his relationship with his mother -> Floyd suddenly popped up and ask if Riddle wants to stay with him and Jade Azul in school -> Jade explains since they lives in the northern part of the ocean, so they can’t go back because surface is frozen around this time, they’ll go back in spring break when it’s warmer -> Riddle, Trey, and Cater then left ->

the twin said if you want you are welcome to go to octavinelle and play with them.

Later, in cafeteria -> you were feeding the fire fairies and Grim heard something from kitchen -> you both went to check it out -> it was Jamil, cooking with the Scarabia students -> Jamil recognize you from back in magic shift event, he then introduced himself and mentioned that he’s good at remember people’s faces and names -> he also mentioned that you’ve been pretty eye catching ever since the beginning of the year, basically everyone knows you by now -> then he asked why were you in cafeteria -> Grim said it’s because Crowley ask us to feed the fairies -> Jamil (under his breath) “the principal... maybe I could use that.” -> Jamil invites you to eat with them -> you asked why are they still staying in school when it’s the winter holiday? -> one student said it’s because of their dorm leader suddenly -> Jamil cuts him off saying it’s a long story and the dishes are gonna get cold ->

he asked you one more time that you will be going to the party right? -> you agreed -> Jamil “I’m glad I could invite you, now, let’s all head to Scarabia.” -> in Scarabia -> Jamil started the party and both you and Grim starts eating -> Kalim showed up -> Kalim “...why is it so noisy in here?” ->

Kalim “what is this, Jamil. I didn’t heard anything about a guest! Didn’t I tell you to report to me if you are inviting a guest!”

Kalim “if you did I could’ve made the music even better you know~~! Well it’s nice to meet you, sorry that I couldn’t make a parade for you.” -> Jamil “it’s not the first time you met them, remember Grim burned your butt in the opening ceremony and we talked again before magic shift?” -> Kalim “is it? Haha sorry sorry I’m pretty bad at names and faces.” -> party started -> Kalim said you are welcome to come over any days of winter holiday since all Scarabia students will be here to study -> he then said the reason of it is Scarabia students was the lowest ranking in both finals and magic shift event, so the students volunteered to have study sessions during this break -> then he mentioned maybe it’s better to just let the students enjoy the break and decide to announce the news of letting the students go home in dinner time -> then he decided to show you around Scarabia dorm -> Grim was surprised by how expansive the place looks -> Kalim said it might because of his father giving night raven college some money to make the dorm look prettier -> Grim ask if he’s some sort of prince since he have this much money -> Kalim “Asim family is not the Royal family, so I’m not a prince, but some of my families are royals.” -> Grim asks if he lives in a giant mansion with many servants -> Kalim said they only have around 100 servants, it sounds a lot but Kalim do have more than 30 younger siblings, so it’s hard to function without many servants -> you arrived at the storeroom

Kalim said everything in this storeroom was given by his dad before he moved to night raven college -> then he went around looking for something -> a magic carpet popped up

Kalim ask you for a ride together -> “it’ll be fine, do you trust me*?”

in sky -> Kalim “it’s so nice to fly in sky. All the worries just don’t seems like they exist anymore. Jamil always tell me I’m so careless all the time but. I just hope, he can live a little more carelessly and happly as well...” -> later, back in Scarabia -> Jamil saw you and Kalim and told Kalim there’s something that he needs to confirm with Kalim ->

later in dinner ->

Kalim said the training wasn’t enough so the study hours are increased -> after the training, all the students are complaining and Jamil is worried too -> Jamil said the reason why Kalim is behaving like that might because he felt responsible for the Scarabia’s low ranking, and his emotions had been really unstable, that is something Jamil haven’t seen despite being with him so long, now he always says reckless stuffs like that, if this keeps going on then the students will definitely gets upset, there’s no way he can handle it by himself -> Jamil “that’s right...! You are just like an unpolished gemstone! You are the amazing student that helped to solve the problems in so many dorms, so please, help Scarabia too.” -> Grim “it’s kind of hard on us with that high of an expectation.” ->

Jamil “please... you will help us right?” -> you agreed -> Jamil was really glad and suggest you to stay in Scarabia as a guest

In a room -> Grim asked why did you agree to that -> you said when you realized it you had already agreed -> Grim commented on you being too nice of a person and suggest to just sneak away at night so you don’t have to deal with this -> you did but then was found out by other students -> they put you back in your room and tell you to not run away, or Kalim will get really upset -> and then they locked the door -> you tried to call Crowley with the phone you got from him -> Crowley’s phone was off -> you decided to call Ace and Deuce next

And then the story ends

*: technically it’s just “trust me” but it’s a reference to Aladdin ask Jasmine “do you trust me.” So I kept it as that.

Twst Ch 5 Thoughts

I have a problem with Rook: He speaks French. Rook, where did you learn French? Is there a France in Twisted Wonderland? How is French cuisine a commonly known thing in Pomefiore? And if so, where is this France? How can there be a place that speaks French or a Japan for Lilia to learn about natto if Crowley has never heard of our world in his 100 year career? How does this world work???? or maybe the problem lies with us/Yuu

Random Spacefiller Before the Cut: Leona living up to the phrase “cats hate collars”

Rest is under the cut to avoid spoilers (also it’s lengthy):

[Spoiler 5-10] Jamil: Kalim, it’s fine if you don’t (clean gym with ADeuce)……This line really stuck out to me because although we’ve seen Jamil be concerned over Kalim before, it’s the first time he’s showing signs of caring AFTER their incident in Ch 4 (AKA new relationship standing is: we are not friends) and it also invokes a different attitude.

Part of it is still probably out of habit, old-Jamil would say a master shouldn’t be doing the work of a servant. Another part I feel like is guilt. Having Kalim follow his orders (even though it wasn’t directed at him) might’ve triggered Jamil to how he treated Kalim in Ch 4. And his discomfort shows that he’s reflected on his actions and knows he was in the wrong. Grim comments the change in Jamil is extreme (duh Grim, his quick turnaround is thanks to his maturity, unlike some Overblotters…). The thing with Jamil is his growth will never by shown explicitly due to his nature, but the small snippets of focus on him give enough to read between the lines.

And throughout Ch 5 we see Jamil still keeping an eye on Kalim from afar, and his expressions are pensive. Kalim is showing signs of putting himself as an equal with Jamil by doing the same tasks as him and learning to put in effort at improving himself so that he may compete with Jamil on equal footings. And Jamil has to fight back old habits of giving in his victories to/coddling Kalim (thereby enabling his ignorant helplessness) and learn to let Kalim (and himself) go through the process so that they can both mature as their own person. And I think this growth between them will develop further in this chapter. Also I high key love Kalim’s reasoning for picking his favorite story. The boy believes in 2nd chances and redemption arcs.

It’s a bit of a pity that Jamil’s frustration was directed towards Kalim instead of the social system of the Land of Hot Sands itself, because he clearly is grappling with himself on his opinion of Kalim (yesss Jamil, be friends. He’s a good guy and you know it). But then again, he’s a teenage boy so it’s understandable that he’s unable to see past the oppression in his immediate space to see the issue in light of the big political picture of it all. And it seems that our overblotters suffering from twisted oppression(s) of this world outside of their control seems to be a common theme.

[Spoiler 5-21] So at this rate, we’ve technically had a sleepover with Savanaclaw, and Octavinelle, and now with Heartslabyul/Scarabia/Pomefiore. Will we get to finish the set with Ignihyde and Diasomnia? Will Malleus finally get invited to something???

Thoughts on Vil so Far: Coincidentally, while playing through Ch5, I came across an article talking about how ultra-Independence is a trauma response and while reading it, a lot of it resonated with Vil from what we’ve observed of him so far. From what I gleaned, characteristics of ultra-independence is:

A survival mechanism stemming from a past trauma (neglect/abuse/bullying/grief/etc.)

Tend to be the rulers of the household (They run the show)

Take on all the responsibilities/decisions because they don’t trust others to make the correct decisions (micromanage)

Results in too much responsibility on one person –> Become overwhelmed/unable to cope with the pressure

Asking for help/Admitting they are not coping is terrifying

Tend to take on codependent relationships (allows them to fix others which gives them a sense of security/control rather than a person who tries to help them)

And in the same order, I’ll relate the observations and how it pertains to Vil:

He holds bitterness to his past/hometown for whatever he experienced there (humiliation?) and is disillusioned by the concept that hard work will bring good results (the falsity of which he is currently experiencing due to, despite all his efforts, Neige is still “#1″). In Deuce’s SR Lab Coat story and other instances, he always scolds those who ask for help without putting in their own effort first.

Uh…..Dorm lead. Fairy Gala/His movie club projects/This training camp also show how much he invests in directing to make sure everything is as perfect as can be

Same as above, the strictness of his lessons in Fairy Gala, the nitpickiness of the smoke color in his Lab Coat Story, his critiques during lessons as well as managing everyone’s diet and skincare

We’re seeing him slowly slip and act out of character like standing blankly in the middle of the hall (every time that ink blot drips yo). Also I could add in the way his severity towards Epel is becoming more and more unreasonable and more of living a projection of his own desires through someone else (tiger mom anyone?)

Rook knows what’s up. Despite others seeing Vil as a very strong and confident personality, Rook’s description of him suggests something fragile and needs to be looked after. More so especially if the person in distress is unable to ask for help himself

His interaction with Azul in Azul’s SR Ceremony Robe story and Jade in Jade’s SSR story shows he is another one of those who hates being indebted to others. He will not be a charity case. His general relationship with Rook is also very quid pro quo. And the whole nosiness of him constantly getting involved in improving others to reach their full potential (he wanted to continue Fairy Gala boys’s modeling career even when it was unnecessary).

Rook mentions how he and Vil are excited for the first years to break out of their shells and show their true beauty and tbh I hope that means one step closer to finding their Unique Magic. Let it happen dang it! Also, when Vil OBs, I see Rook reacting in 1 of 2 ways: him with his beauty optimism will still find OB Queen as Beauté! in its own way OR  he’ll call it out that Vil has strayed from his true beauty (AKA: for once, you no beauté!). But he’ll help get his Roi de Poison come back to his senses and back on track. Yah I’m leaning towards option 2.

Yeah that was an essay but I’m loving Ch 5 so far because! MORE SCARABIA BOYS SCREENTIME AND DEVELOPMENT. and also lots more info on Twst lore. Thanks for reading!!!!!

Is Jade still able to use ‘Shock the Heart’ on Kalim in the role reversal au?

OKAY full honesty, I haven’t really worked that out yet... Role reversed chapter 4 isn’t 100% percent figured out yet (sorry!) mostly bc I’m still trying to figure out a timeline of events, as in when things happen and in what order. I lowkey might have to rewatch the entirety of the Scarabia chapter just to see the original timeframe of the chapter (as in how many days and nights it lasted) and then figure out if i want to extend or shorten that time period. I think I’ve got most of the events or at least a general idea of all the major events figured out, but right now it’s a matter of “okay, when does this happen and for how long?” and even then I might decide to change my already existing plans for the chapter and either add new events or remove ones I already have.

As of right now though, I don’t think Jade will be able to use Shock the Heart on Kalim bc my current plans have Octavinelle getting involved only after the overblot has already happened, which means there won’t really be a need for his unique magic to come into play. This is kinda unfortunate so I might try to figure out a way to squeeze it in, but honestly I’m not very sure how since in the au, MC wasn’t locked in Scarabia before escaping and asking for Octavinelle’s help in investigation, MC was suddenly kicked out by Kalim after angering Jamil.

Additionally, since the tyranny in the Scarabia dorm is genuine (as in, not like in canon where Jamil controlled Kalim to be a tyrant to ruin his reputation, it’s an actual attempt at tyranny) and both Jamil and Kalim are smart enough not to show outsiders what’s actually going on, they make everything seem fine to the MC while also trying to get them the heck outta Scarabia. The faster MC leaves, the faster things can go back to the way Jamil actually wants them to. Bc of this, Jamil and Kalim act especially hospitable and polite during the MC’s stay while all the dorm members are lowkey sweating bc Jamil has threatened them all into silence. This, of course, confuses the MC bc they were called to Scarabia not by Kalim or Jamil but by the dorm members themselves, who begged the MC for help to fight against the tyranny of the dorm leader.

Since Jamil and Kalim were actively trying to get the MC to leave and since the MC was eventually kicked out of Scarabia instead of escaping it, Octavinelle wouldn’t have had the excuse that they were “returning” the MC bc not only would MC and any other outsiders be especially unwelcome during this time, the MC wasn’t even Scarabia’s prisoner and they didn’t steal anything either. Bc of this, even if Octavinelle was interested in the mystery of the situation, they would have a hard time getting into Scarabia, especially with MC in tow.

If Octavinelle somehow manages to worm their way into the Scarabia dorm however, I suppose there is a chance of Shock the Heart being used on Kalim. In fact, the more I think about it, the more it could work as a potential connector of events to fix some timeline weirdness if I tweak the incident a little...

However, it is important to note that role reversed au Kalim is significantly more aware of his surroundings and the intentions of the people around him, so he may be able to resist Shock the Heart’s effects or avoid being affected entirely. After all, he was role reversed Jamil’s guinea pig/test subject during the development of Snake Whisper, so he’s well versed in mind control and may be able to detect some intention of it in Jade’s actions.
