warning!! so many how to train your dragon: race to the edge spoilers below the cut!!!!!! ive rewatched it many times, and my musings often include talking about how things are foreshadowing to future events!! which means those future events will be spoiled alot!!!!

i decided to rewatch it, but write down my reactions and things i found interesting this time!!! this is episodes 1-5, and ill be posting these in installments of about the same size!!! unfortunately, that size turned out to be about 2k words long, which is alot!! this is the trimmed version, which clocks out at about 800!! ill add a link to the full version below!! it has more of my personal opinions + things i found interesting/cute!! but you can definitely get the general gist with this version!

Ep 1

-dagur is genuinely spooky!!

-snotlout immediately yelling at fishlegs to grab his leg the moment he gets a grip on something??? i love how he shows he really cares thru his actions even tho hes a total dick all the time

-dagur genuinely knowing hiccup well, while being extremely unpredictable himself, nearly entirely so, is what makes him such a difficult foe and a genuinely intimidating villain at times

Ep 2

-someone explain dragon biology, snow wraith walks on its wings like a quadraped, but its wings are placed on its back, not its shoulders, like the six-limbed dragons?? look at hookfang and toothless, hookfangs wings are at his shoulders because they are his front legs, toothless’s are at his back because they are an extra third pair of limbs, the snow wraiths is placed like toothless’s but functions like hookfangs???? i am aware i am looking too deeply into this but i cannot help but think

plus, tsukki thought beauty standards were stupid away so he created his own - and you meet every single one 💖

in fact, almost everyone meets his beauty standards - besides himself ‘:)

he seriously doesn’t care about your weight tbh, it’s the most trivial thing so why would he care?

although, he wasn’t naïve enough to think that everyone was like-minded

but after you accidentally sent him a self-deprecating ‘joke’ message that was clearly meant for a friend, he never passed up the opportunity to compliment you ever again

whenever y’all take pics in your ✨fancy outfits ✨ for formal event, he acts as though you are second most beautiful thing on the face of this earth 😍 (second to him ofc)

but he only does that so he can keep up the reputation he has of being effortlessly confident bc he’s scared that if it slips for even a second, everyone will see how truly insecure he is

truthfully, in his eyes, you come first place by miles (❤ ω ❤)

like srsly, you’re so gorgeous in that dress!! he hopes that you know that he is joking about the whole ‘second place’ thing bc you should be able to tell by the way he looks at you that you’re genuinely the most striking person he’s ever laid his eyes on

if you’re in your work clothes/school uniform, he’ll call you ‘sexy’

osamu is at a loss when it comes to typical beauty standards tbh

to him, weight (and most things) are similar to..hand size, for example

just like how you can’t imagine someone feeling self-conscious about the size of their hand (especially if their hand is a healthy size)

he can’t imagine why some one would be shamed for their weight (especially if they’re a healthy size)

so had no idea you could possibly be insecure about something like that and he probably on realised after a few years in the relationship 😅

there was a formal event coming up and y’all were going as dates so you wanted to shop for outfits together

as couples do ✌

anyway, he was on a dress site, scrolling away until you pointed out one that you thought was pretty - and it matched the color of the tie osamu bought too!

it was a fair price (for a formal dress 🙄 which is probably like $68/50) so osamu was like ‘buy it then ( •̀ ω •́ )✧’ bc he thought it would so gorgeous on you

but you were like ‘no’

and after he pried further, you explained how you thought it wouldn’t ‘suit your body type’

GRRR HE dislikes IT WHEN PPL SAY THIS SO MUCH BC HOE YOU DON’T HAVE A BODY TYPE YOU’VE GOT A BODY 😡💕 WEAR THE DAMN DRESS IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL BEAUTIFUL

when he says that he doesn’t care what ppl look like, he means it

he upkeeps his own appearance though bc..it’s his!

like why would he care about what weight you are? that’s none of his business

as you can tell, he’s generally not shallow but sometimes when y’all are just cuddling and your face is pressed to his chest, the words ‘you’re so cute’ just fall from his lips

so ofc he appreciates compliments over his skills, personality, humour etc over flattery about his appearance

hence, the praise he gives you is usually based around those things too bc he just thinks that you’re just like him in the fact you don’t appreciate skin-deep comments

so when he found out that you’re actually insecure about your weight (or something else), he kinda blames himself

he thinks that the whole reason you’re not extremely confident in your appearance is all due to him and the fact he fact he maybe didn’t compliment you on your looks enough — but that’s not to say that he doesn’t think you’re beautiful

you’re the most radiant person he’s ever laid his eyes on and he thought you knew that regardless of whether he vocalised it or not

he wasn’t really sure what to do tbh

bc he loved you and wanted to comfort you ofc but he was scared of making things worse

like what if something he says accidentally makes you so upset that you break-up with him 😭

but he knew he couldn’t just stay silent about the issue, especially when he wanted to say to much

thus, he sent you a heartfelt message on discord

(rather than snap, whatsapp etc so he could edit it after he posts it bc knowing him, he’ll probably write something, reread it ten times then as soon as he hits send, he spots a bunch of mistakes)

and he’d explain how you’re simply divine regardless of your insecurity and if anything, it just makes you cuter 😍

Chapter 20: Little Lion Man

When Regulus was younger, his aunt Andromeda and Sirius were obsessed with Muggle stories. Andromeda would send them loads of books every month to the local Muggle post office to prevent their parents from confiscating them. He remembers the ten minute walks there and back, Sirius holding his hand tight, even stopping to buy ice cream during the warmer seasons. They would greet the delivery men and women, picking up a heavy stack of wrapped books before waddling out, each boy mirroring a large grin.

Every night at twilight, when their parents were asleep, Sirius would crawl into his bed and read to Regulus in a hushed voice. He would read a different story every night, lulling him to sleep. Sirius spent hours gushing about the fantastical tales Muggles wrote; how magical and mystical their minds were despite not having an ounce of magical blood. From Superman to Batman, the Joker to Daleks, Prince Caspian to King Miraz; Regulus quickly learned that they all had one common theme: the good guys and the bad guys.

Regulus often spent his time grappling with the notion; what made someone good? Because the definition changes depending on the person.

Were the good guys good because they were selfless — passionate? Those deemed good never let themselves be seen as selfish. The heroes would sacrifice themselves for the greater good, even going as far as giving up their loved ones. Or maybe it was because they went against the odds. But villains did that too.

So he re-worded the question; what made someone bad? Was it their selfishness or greed? Was it putting themselves above others? Did they know they were on the wrong side of history? Make a mistake, once, twice — but surely, that didn’t make someone bad. Did it?

If virtue is understood by both sides, then the bad guys would immediately cross that line time and time again. They lacked wisdom and truthfulness, filled with too much pride and vanity.

But now as he began to grow up far too quickly for a fourteen-year-old boy, he realized that there was more to people than just being good or evil, a saviour or tormentor, light versus darkness.

The definition of good and bad depended on who told the story and Regulus didn’t know who controlled his; him or his parents. The line was so blurred that he couldn’t objectively make the decision himself anymore. Was he more bad than good?

Laughter — rich and inviting beckoned throughout the library, snapping him out of his thoughts again; but it did nothing but chip away at his heart. Regulus got up, shoving his books and parchment into his bag, making sure to hide his face before they saw him. Today, the Marauders had come earlier than expected and he was caught off guard. He’d been doing everything to avoid them out of pure shame.

Before he went to turn, he eyed Sirius from the shadows. He smiled, carefree and happy, clinging onto Pettigrew, ruffling his hair like he once did to him.

What made them so special, so loved and cherished by Sirius? How were they able to make him laugh so effortlessly, able to brighten his day with a mere glance? What made them more of a family than he ever was to him?

But he knew, it was their family’s values and it had been taunting him every waking moment.

It’s not like he didn’t want to escape that night, but he wasn’t Sirius. He was never as bright or strong or as good as him. Sirius was bold and courageous and certainly had more bravery than he would ever have. Regulus was far too weak, a puppet for his parents to control. Sirius was everything Regulus was too afraid to be — a reminder of what he could have turned into.

Besides, there wasn’t a single doubt in his mind that his parents would have killed Kreacher had he left. And this way with Sirius gone, it left Regulus to be the sole heir. Sirius was free, not being hunted down by his parents now that he bore the title. That was his gift to him, freeing Sirius of all the responsibilities, pain and grief. He owed him that much. Besides, Regulus had already mourned the childhood he never had; that made everything easier.

The day Sirius left was the day before they were set to leave for Hogwarts again and the impact of his absence was massive. He no longer heard the thumping of loud Muggle music nor the clanking of piano keys or doors slamming shut. There wasn’t any screaming aside from his parents shrieking at him for taking his father's wand. The stairs creaked; he could even hear Kreacher padding his way to his room.

It was eerily quiet and lifeless in that damned house, and he was only gone for a day.

Regulus hadn’t been taking it well. Nearly every night, his face was pressed into a pillow muffling his sobs. Sirius had kept his promise, he hadn’t talked to him since.

If only he had a scarlet tie…

Ha! He could laugh; he’d been trying to get his attention in little ways. He’d even gone as far as growing out his hair to match his — coping by writing letters every night with words he wished he could’ve said before storing them in a box under his bed. Forever unsent. Hell, Regulus was a coward, every bit as pathetic as Sirius deemed.

Ever the winter break, his parents were relentless, dumping everything that was meant for Sirius onto him. Letters were sent daily; there were talks about an arranged marriage, lumps of money now being transferred under his name, getting the dark mark… and he was being watched. Every interaction he had, his parents always knew. Especially with Muggleborns; he had to limit his interactions with them to almost nothing, or it wouldn’t end well for either.

His mind reeled back to that night, where his parents and extended family toyed with that blonde Muggle, leaving her half-dead on the dining table, the image branded in his head. It made him sick just thinking about it, he never knew what happened to her, he was too busy trying to muffle out her screams.

Regulus had been questioning everything he was taught. Sirius’ words echoed in his head; was he willing to kill Muggleborns solely because of their blood status? He's a believer in old values and traditions: yes, blood should be kept pure, but to kill Muggles… that was completely different. He’d seen how his dearly beloved aunt was burned off the tapestry, threatened and almost killed for marrying a Muggleborn — a Muggleborn who he’s met and liked and respected. His family tortured them for the sake of it and more. That wasn’t the move of someone good, those were the actions of someone evil; filled with greed, spite and selfishness. But how was he going to stop a whole bloodline from their mania?

Some may call it obedience, the way he’s listened to his parents all these years blindly, but to him, it’s respect. But did he believe that? Did they deserve to be respected? He was miserable and this wasn’t a healthy way to show filial piety.

What did he believe in?

Perhaps there wasn’t such a thing, good or evil, maybe there was only power.

Regulus was lost and confused and most of all, lonely. He remembered Sirius promised him once, before the day he was set to leave for Hogwarts for the first time, that he would never be alone. What a funny thing, promises.

Tears were forming fast and if he didn’t leave then, they would fall any second now. He needed to get out of the library.

Regulus asked himself again; what made someone good or bad — or rather, was he good or bad? He’s veering towards bad.

After catching word from Mary that Remus’ birthday was approaching, Y/N had been knitting him a sweater in her spare time (or trying to). It was sweet, simple and showed that she’d put effort into it, especially since he taught her. Although, the sweater was lopsided and she hadn’t quite gotten the hang of a certain stitch or how to close sections. Perhaps she should use magic.

Her fingers fiddled with the needle, looping the yarn over the other side. Without looking up, she made a sharp turn into the library before crashing into a hunched-over figure; sniffling and a complete mess.

An apology dangled from her lips before recognizing the figure as Regulus. It had been two months since she’d last seen him and in short, he looked like shit. His skin was grey and lost all sense of a youthful dewy glow. If Sirius had dark eye circles or Remus looked tired, Regulus beat them by miles.

Y/N stood there awkwardly, unsure of what to do before gently patting his shoulder. “Regulus?” She asked softly, nothing more than a whisper.

There was a flash of pure terror as he looked up, his eyes nervous as his head spun around to look around the place like he always did. He looked mad, almost unhinged as his hands gently pushed her away, signalling for her to leave. “I — I can’t be seen around you.”

“Can’t? What are you going on abo —” She cut herself off, ignoring the matter entirely. He clearly wasn’t in the right mindset.

His voice was strained, quiet as he kept on murmuring, he almost sounded angry. “You can’t — we’ll both get in trouble. Y/N, go — please… ”

At this, Y/N felt her skin rise in small goosebumps. She looked back to the library, just making out her friend’s figures before looking down at Regulus again. She wasn’t going to leave him like this: crying and delusional.

She took a deep inhale before bending down, picking up her needles and yarn off the ground and slipped them into her bag. She placed a cautious arm around Regulus to keep him upright. “Come with me.” But Regulus wouldn’t budge, not until she flicked down her hood, obscuring her face.

She led him up to the astronomy tower, walking and twisting around before setting him down on a nearby bench, making sure to lock any entrances. They sat in silence, aside from Regulus attempting to regulate his breathing. The cold whipping wind tossed his hair and sank into her bones. With a few charms, they were both warm again, but still able to breathe in the crisp air.

He remained quiet. Y/N didn’t push. Instead, she began babbling softly about random things to distract him. When she heard a sharp exhale of air, mimicking a half-hearted chuckle was when she knew he had calmed down.

“Thank you,” he muttered. It’s quiet, barely above a whisper. Regulus’ cheeks were pink, colour finally returning to him from either embarrassment or the cold.

“Any time,” she smiled warmly. Her hand reaches into her bag, fishing out the snacks that were meant for the study group: blackberries that were for Remus, a muffin for Marlene, were now shared between them. She tried to encourage him to eat, to regain any sort of energy.

He listened without complaint, a tense yet thankful air engulfed them. It was only until he finished the food, about an hour gone by, was when he spoke again. “Why are you being so nice to me.” It’s not even a question, just an odd accusation.

She thinks for a while, searching for the best answer. “I wished someone was there for me when I was going through a hard time.”

“But you don’t know me.”

Her eyebrows raised, “Well, let’s get to know each other then. I’ll tell you something about myself and then you can go?”

Regulus looked up at her with a calculated expression, cautious and looked uncomfortable but he nodded.

“Let’s start simple. I have an owl named Celeste.”

He gulped, looking back to the entrance. His answer came delayed, strained and she wondered if she had pushed him too far. “I play the violin.”

Y/N smiled largely. “The violin is beautiful! Hmm… I can’t ride a broomstick to save my life, unlike you.”

At this, he smiles — a real genuine smile that causes his eyes to crinkle and sparkle. “Really?” His eyes burned with curiosity before he looked down, “I can’t swim.”

“Swim?” She repeats, chuckling to herself, “Who doesn’t know how to swim?”

“You’re making me feel grand. Terribly uncalled for.”

Her eyes rolled, “You should learn. It can save your life one day. Who wants to drown?”

“Maybe I’ll ask McGonagall — I heard for tougher punishments she’ll throw you into the black lake.”

“You’re the perfect candidate then.”

After a while, way past curfew, Regulus seemed cheerier; his tear-stained cheeks now replaced with a smile and relaxation. That day, Y/N unaware, was a day Regulus would never forget.

March 8th, 1976

“Sirius, shut up.”

“You’re the one yelling!”

“... Right.”

Excused from their afternoon classes because their Puffskein was about to hatch, the Marauder’s dorm was bustling with panic and bickering. When Y/N partnered with Sirius for their project, she expected fighting (which happened every day) but not for Sirius to be like this. He’d been running around the dorm, grabbing warm towels, bowls of water and taking out his panic on her. He gripped his textbook, flicking through notes to see if they had everything. It was as if he was preparing for the birth of an actual baby.

She silently watched him, her mind thinking about Regulus rather than their project. This was the only time she and Sirius were alone and wondered if she should mention his freakout the other day but stopped — it didn’t take a genius to know they weren’t on friendly terms.

Since that night, she’d seen Regulus almost daily, but only at night before their study group. She would spend an hour or so with him before the Marauder or girls came barraging in; Regulus left before they appeared. The entire situation left her deeply confused, worried and most of all, suspicious.

“We need Kettleburn —”

Annoyance began nipping at her. “Calm down.”

“I’m not going to calm down!”

Sirius paced, both firing snide jabs. Too preoccupied in his panicked state, he didn’t hear the quiet cracking of the white shell, forming the shape of a lightning bolt before cascading over.

“Um, Black?”

“Let’s not start. How are you so —”

“Get your ass over here now!”

Sirius pressed his lips together immediately and rushed over, both huddled side by side near the roaring fireplace. The shell twitched, cracking more and they both gasped in amazement. The process was faster than either expected as they saw the small tuft of cream fur peek out along with a pair of black eyes. Its long pink tongue slipped out, already looking for its first meal. Y/N scrambled to grab a nearby dish of dried spiders to feed it while Sirius cradled it in his hand. His smile was wide, buzzing with excitement as he observed it. His hands gently glided over the soft fur as it emitted a low humming sound.

A deep chuckle erupts from Sirius and she could feel the vibrations from how close they were. His laugh, which once made her cringe, now made her skin feel fuzzy and heart flutter. But, it wasn’t like that, she thinks. Of course not! She still wants to jinx him, maybe even throw him into the fireplace. Yes, that’s it.

She snaps out of her violent thoughts when she finds Sirius already looking at her, a pretty flush to his skin as he observes her softly. Her brows crinkled; instead of a frown or on the cusp on an insult, he smiles.

“Do you want to hold it?” Y/N nods eagerly. Sirius shifts his body, placing the Puffskein in the palms of her hands. It’s incredibly soft, adorable and when it leans into her, falling asleep, she swore she fell in love.

“What do you want to name it?” She mumbled, afraid that if she were any louder it might wake it up. Sirius takes a long time to ponder and Y/N braces herself for an insult, already thinking of a plethora of her own.

“It looks like porridge… Oatmeal!”

“Are you serious?”

“I’d be worried if I wasn’t.”

Y/N tries to suppress her smile but fails. The Puffskein did look like a grain of oatmeal. Plain and simple, she liked it.

“Hello, Oats! You’re so cute — I could just eat you up!”

“Morbid much.”

Hours went by before they ultimately decided to head down to Kettleburn’s office for an examination of Oats’ health. Sirius cradled it in a small blanket, shielding it from the rest of the world. Marlene and Dorcas were standing by the sidelines, joining them as they walked past.

“Yours hatched already? Aw, it looks so cute!” Dorcas squealed. Her hands reached out, giddy as Sirius gently placed it into her arms but not without fretting. Marlene only looked down at her with a soft gaze, her face becoming pink as she wrapped an arm around her.

“Give it a rest. She’s not going to drop it.”

“Now you, McKinnon?! I’m a father now! Our kid deserves the best care! Right, L/N?”

It catches her off guard. Sirius trying to include her in a conversation? That’s a new milestone. “Of course; the proudest parents.”

Once done with Kettleburn, Sirius went to bring Oats back to his dorm, parting as Y/N went to find Lily who took her notes for her afternoon classes.

Out in the courtyard, walking around in the snow, both Lily and Snape wandered around before she picked up a snowball, throwing it at him. Snape sent her a deadpanned look as Lily kept hurling snowballs. Most missed him, others hit him before he retaliated and threw some back.

Y/N halted, watching the scene play out and debated whether or not to approach them. But decided to, shouting while striding up to them.

“Petals!”

Lily’s smile grew before her head whipped to her. She stopped her snowball fight, getting up to bounce her way over to her. Snape followed in suit, but as Lily began to babble on and on about what she missed, Snape’s eyes bore into her, vice versa.

“I’ll see you later, Sevy! We need to go,” said Lily, already turning to walk away. Y/N lingered back a pause, just enough to see Snape draw his wand and shoot a spell at her. She had just enough time to block it. Whatever spell it was, it sparkled like a firecracker. If Snape could easily send a hex or jinx her way inboard daylight with Lily just a little ahead, what was he willing to do had they been alone.

His angel persona around her was dropping quickly.

“Whiskers!” Shouted Lily. Her arms raised in question. “Get over here!”

A flurry of thoughts bombarded her before she could process them. She was about to cause a scene, yell and scream until that nasty sneer fell off his face until she felt a tug on her arm. Lily hooked her arm around Y/N, pulling her away. But she still had her wand drawn, ready to block another spell. She tossed one last look at him; he smiled wickedly.

“Are you okay?”

She had enough tip-toeing around Snape. She remained tranquil, gave him the benefit of the doubt and respected their friendship but that was enough.

“No, I’m not actually,” keeping her tone as soft as possible, trying not to sound defensive, “Why do you waste your time around him?”

Lily paused, her eyes going wide. An offended expression crossed her face as she took a moment to digest the remark. “Sev? What are you getting at?” Her tone was guarded which had Y/N debating whether or not to drop the conversation entirely. A fight with Lily was not on her to-do list.

“I just think you should be careful around him.”

“I can look out for myself,” she grumbled, “Severus has been there for me for years. I know how to separate myself from the wrong sorts.”

“I’m only saying this to look out for —”

“I know, but he isn’t like what you’re thinking.” Lily didn’t look mad, just tired as she nodded sharply. Taking a stack of parchment from her bag, Lily handed it to her and walked faster. “You’re around Potter too much. He isn’t like what he says he is.”

Y/N felt annoyance blossom in her chest at the accusation of James but bit her tongue to avoid more conflict. Right now, they trod on dangerous waters.

Neither spoke to each other for the rest of the day.

And if you're up to answering, what do you think about the other adaptations? Especially (our small bean) xiao yuliang's interpretation of xiaoge?

lol dang it, I was kinda hoping to avoid this question, just because I feel like I'd find it hella hard to explain some things, but I'll try my best and hopefully it'll make some sense xD

I'll start from afar bc I wanna try to explain my reasonings, since I don't want to go without arguments into such highly debated question lolz. I talked about this a bit in my previous asks somewhere, but not broadly as to why that one guy hit all the right spots.

So throughout the books Wu Xie always does this wonderful thing, where he very tangibly describes the feeling he gets when Xiaoge is near, I mean like the aura around him. And he always somehow does it so colorful, that this mix of safety, assurance, calmness, composure and some things I can't quite put into one noun, that he brings to him, I think everyone who've read the books can recognize as this almost magical "Xiaoge feeling". It's not just the way he acts in some dangerous situations or smth like that. It's just everything. You either have it or you don't. And here goes my first argument... to me none of them, except for Huang Junjie and Yuliang have it.

I mean it's not even the obvious stuff, it's like the way they move during the action scenes, the way they even stand and hold themselves, the way they touch Wu Xie, the tone of their voices (both of which are like soothing as fuck), little things you'd think wouldn't matter, but when you watch it and all the puzzle pieces are together, you're like... fuck yeah, thats him.

Also not really that weighty of a point, but to me there's always a joy to see that the actor who plays the character not only gets what's he's playing, but also loves it, bc it's always seen on screen. Usually when some asked about the character they play and what they have in common for example they answer with obvious things like if some character is introverted they're like "well I also don't talk very much" or smth like that, you know what I mean. When I was watching interviews of Yuliang and Huang Junjie I was just smiling so much, bc they've said such things that made me go "yeah, Qiling is safe in their hands".

In Reboot case working in such close proximity with the author definitely also played a huge role here. Bc it kinda gets complicated in some aspects since the books are written from Wu Xie's point of view and you can't only base your picture on his perspective, just bc it's coming from a person who after being basically told "you're my whole world" goes "I'm just a person he randomly passes by in his long life" in his thoughts. Not only he's utterly clueless and dumb when it comes to all this, that he wouldn't notice the way Qiling looks at him and other things, its also not that kind of book, that would go "I suddenly caught poker face looking at me like I'm his whole existence" (and I honestly don't want it to be that book lmao). So you have to take into the account here stuff like what author says to get the whole picture, bc if you look at that from the point of Qiling's view for example, this shit takes a whole wild turn. So I really loved that in UN and Reboot ways of showing Qiling's feelings were well thought out and fit the timeline.

Bc it also works both ways, when it comes to other adaptations. Like Qiling is very and I mean ETREMELY hard to win over. We all know that it was a very long process of gaining his trust and even longer for him to fall for Wu Xie to the point of him being his everything. So what I want in those interpretations is for them to get at which point of their relationships what Xiaoge's behavior makes sense. I do not need any fanservice if it ruins the character, I'll just hate it. The thing that their feelings didn't come out of nowhere is what I LOVE about this ship, bc I'm not the kind of person who believes in "we love for nothing" thing and love at first sight thing (only "got hots for each other" at first sight), bc thats bull. Wu Xie became his everything after a long LONG process of getting to know each other. At the beginning tho he was the same stranger to him as everyone else. So what Reboot Qiling feels for Wu Xie is not what UN's Qiling feels for Wu Xie yet and what UN's Qiling feels for Wu Xie is not what Lost Tomb's Qiling feels for Wu Xie (which at that point was nothing). And I feel like not everyone gets the fact that you can totally wreck the character if you make him behave not the way he behaved in that particular time. Like for example, if someone would make a MDZS adaptation where at the very beginning of their relationships LZ treats WWX the way he treated him after the reincarnation just because "who cares, it's still LZ", that would be dumb af, see what I mean. So Xiaoge having a weakness for Wu Xie in part one is automatically not a Xiaoge to me, bc a huge part of his character and the thing NPSS speaks a lot about is just how IMPOSSIBLE it is for someone to catch his attention and how long it took Wu Xie to get there. So let's just say to me UN and Reboot Qilings for the first time didn't feel like some mashup or character summary/parody, they were Qilings the way they are supposed to be in that part of the story, bc it was the only times someone actually bothered to coordinate it.

Now as to why I prefer one to another. Xiaoge has this thing... the way he holds himself with other people, that is sometimes intentionally and sometimes unintentionally suppressing.

Like everyone knows that if you're a passerby, Qiling genuinely doesn't fucking care and would in fact be pretty harsh about it in terms of treating people like they do not deserve their attention. He won't be like "please, don't bother me", he simply ignored them like an empty space. He is also like that with acquaintances who in his opinion do not deserve his respect like that girl who went hysterical, bc she was upset that he was the only one who wasn't drooling on her like all other men on the crew, Chen Wenjin, Wu Xie's uncles and etc. He's not openly disrespectful unless they trigger him in some way (usually by trying to act superior or later on for not treating Wu Xie right), but if they do, he will in fact remind them their place in sometimes a very rude way, at times humiliating them in front of ppl bc he looks younger than them and talking starts.

He's always doing things on his own terms and hates being told what to do. Like he legit scared Chen Wenjin just with a look and the tone of his voice when he said "let go", when she tried to command him on the mission and grabbed him trying to lecture him about what he should or shouldn't do. That's why Wu Erbai didn't even try anything like this and let him do whatever he needed to do and equally lead the mission in Reboot. And why the scene where Wu Xie 'commands' "Xiaoge, come back" and he immediately listens holds another special place in my heart. Bc he NEVER and I mean NEVER allows such things to ANYONE.

So here I came to a point of why despite loving them both dearly, my favorite Xiaoge is Huang Junjie.

I have this dissonance with Yuliang's version when to me in many scenes it felt like he and Wu Xie are the same age. Like if he was Xiaoge, but in his 20s. In his interactions with Chen Wenjin the dynamics was turned upside down, with him being okay with her telling him what to do and just in general the way she behaved with him. Same as like I didn't always quite believe him to be on par with older generation or even Pangzi, it just felt like he was truly younger than them. Some scenes that I do find extremely cute just don't fit book Xiaoge at all, I'm talking about some moments like his face when Wu Xie gave him food, or him pouting and many things he's done, when you were going "uwu he's a baby". He just never gives me this feeling in the books ever, not just bc he's 100 years old, but sad fact here.. bc he's simply unable to behave that way. Like in the books you'll desperately want to shower him with love, but he's just... I can't quite explain, it's very sad.

I guess it's just you know these characters, who are like hundreds years old, but look like they're 18? I think you have to be very careful with how you write those, so you could deliver that. And in UN because of some changed dynamics and scenes I straight up forgot about it, until Wu Xie threw some joke like "he's an old man" in front of a restaurant.

In Reboot Xiaoge could make Wu Erbai stutter with one move, put Yuliang's version in the same scene, I just don't think it would've worked. Like I'm trying to imagine him telling UN's Wu Erbai what to do and having troubles already haha. Same as I don't think he's capable to be genuinely mad at Wu Xie, and HJJ nailed it esp in one of my fav when Wu Xie was laughing at Pangzi's joke about him catching cold. The look he gave him and how ZYL just retreated was priceless xD. And boy could Qiling get angry with him in the books!

Otherwise I didn't have any drastic fall outs there, like with Joseph's Wu Xie and Ah Ning's death, because that was just too much of a difference, but there were still moments where it was once again this the same scene completely different emotion thing. He was more tolerable to ppl in general here, more pliable. And 50% of the time he gave me the cute lost kitten type, which I just cannot connect with the feeling he gave me in the books. His personality is a cat type 100%, but like seriously "cute baby" is the last word combination I would ever apply to book Xiaoge, but with Yuliang's version it's easily applied. So small bean he is indeed. With Joseph and in UN it works incredibly perfect to me, but the way he is in UN is at times too gentle. And there are lots of scenes where Joseph himself looked at him in a way "you're too cute, let me pinch your cheeks" kind of way, or the way he like sat down next to him on the coast, he was a bit babying him at times. I can't imagine book pingxie doing that. It's just a whole different vibe, the way he takes care of him, the way he lets him take care of him... it's...uuuuuuuuu another vibe (see, I'm so good at explaining lmao).

It's also kinda funny to me, bc HJJ who's the smallest and who irl truly a kitten never once gave me that feeling on screen for some reason. The one babied and loved by every crew and old ppl, who was cutely hiding behind ZYL's back on set, who won't sue an ex who almost ruined his career bc of how stupid she is, bc he "didn't want to hurt her", who according to staff can't even step on a fly, whom CMH was petting for several minutes after he had to hit him with a prop brick bc he didn't wanna do it lmao. I was just like.. ok, this is hilarious, bc I in fact didn't expect him to be a small bean, so watching all the bts made me go LOOOOL. Probably ZYL acting like a 3 year old helped him transform and the age difference problem got lost lmao

As for other adaptations. You know I can't watch seriously "Lost Tomb", I think some ppl probably have some nostalgic feeling about it, but I'm sorry, to me it's fucking hilarious. Like I've already said it looks like some type of twilight parody thing or smth. YangYang I know him from other things, I really don't think it's his role. I know the script and everything is bad. I know the costume and hair are horrendously funny, but it's just I was watching him in those action scenes and was like no... just I'm sorry but I'm not feeling it. I simply just don't know what to say about the whole thing seriously, bc I don't even know where to start. 10 episodes of some salad finished with one mutilated scene from book 6 for no reason the fact that characters are weird themselves also I can't quite tell, did they really just meet or they imply smth else lmao.. I'm sorry, but I do not get it.

I've given LT2 another try after finishing all the books and I've dropped it half way through, Cheng Yi wasn't even close to how I pictured Xiaoge in any aspect. He in fact didn't do anything OOC or off the book or anything, I just was like "not my Qiling". Happens sometimes.

P.S. To be fair here also maybe we should take into account the fact that some got luckier than other with "at which point" Xiaoge they're playing. Like for example, "Wrath of the Sea" and "Qingling Tree" books which is LT2 is not exactly you can say much about Qiling there, he trolls them there in the beginning (in a brilliant way that was totally lost in the adaptation) and he is there in "Wrath of Sea", but it's not the part that can make his character shine in any way, there's not much things happening there that would make you fall for him or get to know him; Yuliang grabbed the fattest piece bc it's middle several books, when they're always together and his character shines the most in terms of clues about past, opening up to Wu Xie and Pangzi, and there are many many events where you can get the picture of what kind of man he is; Huang Junjie grabbed my fav piece of utter devotion, where he's already fully and wholeheartedly belongs to Wu Xie, that I'm just weak for. So like... there's also that I guess xD.

In October last year he said he wasn't sure about some love in his life and that he found a new confidence when he got reassurance of that love. It could have been about JK. JM kicked jk because he said V was handsome, he hangs his head low when Jk compliments other members, more than once he has explicitly asked for JK's approval to he voiced out loud. /1

As much as we want to glorify and idolize JKs 'big gestures' we should also acknowledge that JM actually LOVES people saying good things to him, and jungkook has never really been someone to provide that. /3

To sum it up,what I mean is that it can't be easy for JM either. Him looking at RM right before saying he was with jungkook definitely shows that. There was an end of year interview in 2017 and he said the most remarkable was traveling with JK and went like "is it wrong to say that? Does it sound weird?" But he still talked about it. Because showin to ppl that he cares about them has always been bigger than any pretences, idol persona, or wtvr. And I honestly can't same the same about all 7../4

Me again.. I feel I started a rather lengthy subject for how limited characters in asks are but. Well, someone just commented on your post about jk's birthday and pointed out a moment in the press conference jimin didn't seem pleased (min 10:25 in the video they posted) and I think it goes exactly with the asks I sent about JM being often hurt by JK's lack of acknowledgement. He's definitely learned to let it go or deal with it in other ways but I can often see some annoyance in his face.”

JK. I have said many times, JK is more of a man of actions than words. Words don’t come easy to him. He struggles. We have seen JM push JK to the front in interviews and JK struggle to put words together. He is getting better at it, but it’s not something that comes easy to him, not as easy as it comes to JM. JK has also said in the past that it was hard for him to vocalize his feelings. I have seen JM struggle with this. He is someone that needs words, he had said in the past how he needs to hear “I love you”, how important it is for it to be vocalized. We don’t get to see how things are between them behind closed doors, so we don’t know how verbal JK is with JM when it comes to sharing his emotions, but on camera it’s harder for him. Even with the ‘rainy day fight’, yes, JK was the one to bring it up, but it wasn’t him that told the story. Did you notice how JM took over? But JK does make an effort at times. When he was talking about JM in Black swan (was it during the comeback show 2020?) and JM is the one that says he wants to hear what JK has to say. JK starts talking, and it’s not fluently, he stops to think, words aren’t coming easy to him, and you see how the other members keep interrupting, I’m not sure if they are trying to help him on or trying to put the words into his mouth, maybe fearing what he may actually say, and he ends up saying how sexy JM is. It really didn’t come easy to him.

Do you remember the live after AMA’s 2017? JK tried to talk there and did put his foot right into it. There was so much going on there.

So yeah, JK is more action prone than word savvy. JM needs to hear he is loved. Like I said, we have no way of knowing how they are behind closed doors, but we we do see is JK showing JM he loves him in other ways. In small or grand gestures. It’s the hand signing “I love you” directly at JM and only for him, and JM knew it, in front of the whole world (the shocked look on JM’s face, that turned into pure happiness); It’s GCFT; It’s GCFS (he manages to make a Big Hit content video almost all about JM and ‘I don’t wanna lie no more...”); It’s Rose Bowl; It’s even washing off his hands and Suga’s hand in the Run BTS episode so JM will win.

It’s also the little things JK does, those moments of acknowledgement and care, the attentiveness, the protectiveness.

And don’t get me wrong here, it’s not that JM doesn’t do all those too, being affectionate, protective, attentive, caring towards JK, he most certainly is all those, it’s just both have different ways of showing it. And that’s the point. As much as they have so much in common, they are also so different. And they have a different way they express themselves, or more like they find it easier to express themselves in different ways. with JM being verbal is easier for him than for JK and with JK it’s action driven.

JM is verbal. He knows how to talk. He is eloquent. And yes, there are moments when he will say something ‘out of place’ or unexpected, but at the end of the day I think he says those things because he wants them to be out there. The example you gave about travelling with JK is one of those instances. Being with JK at 4am is another. He knows the ‘management’ might not be happy with it, but he still feels the need to say it, and he does. He has done it on several occasions.

Another thing we need to remember is that different people show their love in different ways. Some will say ‘I love you’, some will give gifts, some will write a romantic letter or poem, some will hug and touch, some will make you a video, and some will do all of those together or none at all.

Part of being in a relationship is learning to accept your significant other for who they are. Yes, there are things that can be changed, but as a whole, if your partner does not or can not live up to your expectations from them as far as if or how they express their love towards you (and it is a basic need to be loved and shown you are loved), than the relationship won’t last long.

JM needs to be acknowledged, to be shown he is loved. JK found ways to show him he is loved, even if it may not be verbally (at least not in front of the camera). Is it enough for JM? The million dollar question. I’m no mind reader, but I think as a whole JM is content. And I think we see them both in that space more since 2020. As hard as this year was for the band and the members, not being able to tour, I think it did good for themselves as individuals (especially seeing growth in JK) and for their relationship.

Pairing: Javier Peña x Reader (Narcos TV show)

Tiny ficlet. One shot. Javi’s POV. Inspired by this post.

Summary: When Javi finds an old book in an empty office, he cannot get his mind off the woman who poured her heart into the spaces between the words. The only problem is he has no idea who she is.

Javi had found the book in an empty office. He’d gone in to clear his head. To get away from the ruckus and noise of the space he had to share with everyone else. The office had been blessedly quiet. He’d been sitting with his head between his hands, and when he’d finally lifted his gaze, it had been there. Haphazardly laying on the corner of the desk as if waiting for him. Brown leather bound. The corners were worn, the pages yellowed with use and time.

Warily and needing something to clear his mind, he’d reached over casually to flip it open, unaware that action would unforeseeably change his life. Cien años de soledad. Not out of the ordinary, though its casing was. Javi had read it once, before moving to Colombia. He shuffled through the pages. It was a good book, but he had so little time left in his life for fiction.

Just as he was about to shut the cover of the book, something handwritten within the pages caught his eye. But he’d lost the page. He began leafing through the pages to see what someone had thought important enough to write in a book. Javi had never understood the point of doing something like that when one’s thoughts while reading could easily be kept in one’s head. But he was curious anyway.

As he thumbed through the pages, he realized there were handwritten notes in several places throughout the book. In a cramped but neat script. He had to squint to read them.

this is not how I would react to a ghost - next to what he supposed was a crude drawing of a smiling apparition. The corner of his mouth turned up. He flipped the page almost carefully now.

well...i dream of peace. everywhere in colombia. but mostly on this mess of a base. Javi smiled fully now.

Flipping through the pages, he found various personal and funny tidbits, commentaries on the story. So many phrases in the book were underlined. And drawings. Yellow butterflies. A calf-like beast. Flowers. So many flowers, some described within the book, some clearly made up in someone’s imagination. He began to wonder who on base could possibly be funny enough to talk like this. Based on the handwriting itself, and a few of the more telling comments, he knew it was a woman. But he scoured the pages between each flap of the book and could not find a name. Every thought imaginable seemed caught in the neat handwriting. Everything but her name.

Javi sighed and let the cover fall shut. He contemplated. Looked around the office. Noted the dust on every surface. He stood and tucked the book under his arm before thinking too hard about it.

In the weeks that followed, Javi began to find solace in the worn, obviously well-loved pages of the novel. Whoever had written these words was obviously snarky, maybe sassy, but she loved the story all the same. It was clear in her notes. Javi never actually re-read the book itself. Only the passages that would help him understand the noteleaver’s quips.

“What’re you reading there?” Steve called his way from the bunk as Javi traced the words of another note he’d only just found. He’d been sure he’d read them all, but this one was new to him, hidden between the many pages of the novel.

He’d been pleasantly surprised to find a note he’d not yet read and had accidentally chuckled out loud. But he closed the book with an air of having been caught when Steve spoke.

“Nothing,” he had to clear his throat, voice hoarse from disuse. The ambassador had forbade them from leaving the grounds, and they were growing listless in their boredom.

Steve glanced over. “Doesn’t look like nothing.” But he went back to cleaning his gun all the same, leaving Javi to wonder.

Javi stared at the book. He wondered who it had belonged to and why it had been abandoned in the middle of a dusty office. Briefly he wondered if its owner had died, and the thought panged his heart, though he could not say why. He shook his head at himself and tucked the book under his bunk so he could nap.

Because there was so little to do for the time being, Javi began carrying the book around. Both to read it...well, its previous owner’s notes. And to, if he was being honest with himself, maybe run into the person it belonged to. Though, at this point, he thought he’d be loath to part with it.

But...he’d begun to start thinking too hard about the writer of the handwritten notes which, by now, he’d come to memorize. He didn’t know what it was about her words that seemed to captivate him so. She was funny. Thoughtful. Romantic, at least in the sense of the book. Maybe practical. He felt like he’d gotten to know someone deeply, someone he couldn’t put a face to. And for Javi, that was endlessly frustrating.

As he sat in the mess next to Steve to eat lunch, he placed the book on the table just across from them. Steve had finally stopped asking about the book when Javier had shown him the first page, clearly stating its title.

“Can’t get your nose out of that,” he’d noted in his plainly straightforward way. But he hadn’t brought it up again, though sometimes Javi saw the way Steve’s brow would arch his way when he’d open it yet again.

Now, Javi perused the surrounding tables and the others milling about, wondering if any of them might be the person he was looking for. There weren’t many women on base other than the ambassador. There was her secretary, an older prudish type. He didn’t think it could be her considering she seemed to have no sense of humor. There were a handful of others and though Javi’s eyes lingered on them, he didn’t think it could be any one of them either. For one wild moment, he wondered if it could be the ambassador’s. But he shook his head at the thought, smiling.

“What?” Steve wondered through a mouthful of lechona.

But before Javi could respond, a hand was reaching out and picking up the book. Javi had to stop himself from reaching over automatically to stop-

Her. Javi had forgotten all about her.

“Here it is,” she was saying, sounding breathless with relief.

Her eyelashes were lowered against her cheeks in a lovely way as she gazed at the book with clear affection. She still had not seemed to have noticed Javi and Steve sitting there.

She was a researcher the ambassador had hired to help the DEA in their years-long mission to capture Escobar. Javi hadn’t realized she’d been staying on base. He’d only ever seen her once here. And that had been before everything had gone to shit. He’d never spoken to her long enough to get to know her, but she was pretty. Beautiful, really. And he remembered her laugh. He’d done something silly, accidentally tripped or something, and her laugh had been infectious. Had anyone else laughed, Steve maybe, Javi might have gotten irritated. But her laugh had brought a smile to his face.

“Con cuidado” she’d lilted at him before going the opposite way, her eyes still laughing.

“I’ve been looking for this,” she finally caught Javi’s eyes. She must’ve been wondering why he’d been staring at her. Smiling. How did she do that with her eyes? Always smiling.

When Javi didn’t respond, the corners of her mouth turned up now into an uncertain smile without diminishing the bright one remaining in her eyes. Maybe she thought they thought she’d interrupted them. “Well, enjoy your lunch.” She turned to walk towards the food counter, tucking her long lost, now found, book under her arm.

Javi only hesitated for a second, his mind racing, before he stood up and followed after her, rushing to find the right words to express that he’d read every single note she’d left in a decade-old novel he’d found in an empty office, and now he was sure he was in love with her.

Steve’s eyes narrowed as he watched his partner’s retreating back. “What in Sam Hill was that about?” He drawled before reaching over and picking the lone buñeulo off Javi’s tray.

A/N: For the record, I’m one of those people who writes in their books and underlines incessantly. I know some ppl consider that sacrilege but it’s how I show my love! 🥰

Just by thinking about it makes you shiver and anxiety creeping into you. What are their thoughts about you? Do they find you cute? Hot? Do they like your personality? Do they see you funny? Do they feel something special towards you?

As time goes by, the feeling gets stronger and stronger until you can’t help but be conscious about yourself, especially if that one person gives a sign that she treats you differently from the others. And in a not great way. It feels awful for Kirishima. Just thinking about you hating him makes him wanna punch himself and ask what’s wrong about him.

You were close with everybody in class (well except for Mineta) and always hang out with everybody. Even Bakugou hangouts with you and likes you even though he doesn’t show it. You always wear that pretty smile on your face, your eyes glistening with joy every time you see a person happy because of you. You’re always there for everybody, helping them, talking with them, laughing with them. You’re the social butterfly of Class A, but your treatment gets different when it comes to Kirishima. Even though you’re a talkative person, you always keep quiet whenever he’s around. When you both meet in the hallway, you either walk back to where you came from or walk fast without looking at him. It feels like you’re avoiding him.

Kirishima asks himself if he isn’t enough. If he makes you uncomfortable. If you don’t want to hang out with him. Don’t you like him? What did he do wrong for you to hate him?

Kirishima sighed and rested his back entirely on the couch, staring up at the ceiling. Kaminari glance below him to see Kirishima in front of him before glancing back at the TV, resuming on playing with Sero. Bakugou was on the floor with him while leaning on the couch, waiting for the loser with Kaminari and Sero to win against him while Sero and Kaminari are sitting on the sofa, playing. The two boys on the floor was hidden from anyone who came from the stairs or the kitchen.

“You okay, bud?” Kaminari asked, clearly feeling unusual at his behavior.

“Huh? Ah, yeah. I’m fine.” Kirishima averted his eyes from their questioning ones to avoid more questions. He ran his hand to his hair and sighed once again.

“Who would believe your shit when that’s literally the 4th time you sighed asshole? Got nothing better excuse than that, Shitty Hair?” Bakugou furrowed his brows at Kirishima.

“I’m sure no normal people would sigh that heavily if they’re okay.” Sero grinned at him. If this was an ordinary day, Kirishima would have been all smiles while talking about you, gushing over you. However, he was just sitting there, thinking so deep that he didn’t notice you coming down from the stairs with Mina and Uraraka.

You were laughing with Mina and Uraraka about that one movie, which has a hot MC. Giggling, you saw Kaminari and Sero playing in the living room. When Mina saw them, she beamed and greeted them.

“Hey, Denki, Sero! Whatcha’ doin’?” You looked at Mina weirdly, who’s staring back at you.

“What?”

“What the heck is that language?” Your face contorted. Mina shrugged.

“I just heard it on one of those Youtube videos.” You shook your head and turned towards the two boys who are still playing. You walked towards them while Mina and Uraraka followed you.

“Where’s Kirishima and Bakugou? You’re not with them?” You asked, the blonde and redhead out of your sight.

However, when you got closer to the couch, you saw Bakugou sitting on the floor below Kaminari and Sero.

“You got no eyes, Shitty woman?” Bakugou rolled his eyes at you. “Well, good morning to you, too, Bakugou.” You stuck your tongue out at him, sarcasm evident in your tone.

When you looked below Kaminari, your heart raced when you saw a redhead guy sitting on the floor beside Bakugou. When Kirishima looked up at you and smiled, you felt your face heat up. You almost jolted when Kirishima greeted you a good morning.

“Uhh-…G-good morning!” You stuttered and almost shouted. You bit your lip and looked away from Kirishima to steady your heartbeat.

“You okay, Y/N?” Kaminari chuckled.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” You rolled your eyes at him when he grinned at you, clearly teasing you.

What the fuck, Y/N? You’re embarrassing yourself in front of Kirishima! Your crush!

Mina and Uraraka laughed at your reaction. You glared back at them and pinched Uraraka on the side.

“Ouch!” She whined playfully, still laughing. You rolled your eyes at them, turned your heel towards the dorm’s front door, looked over your shoulder, and signaled Uraraka and Mina to follow you. You rolled your eyes when you saw the sheepish grin on their faces.

“Shut up.”

Kirishima exhaled sharply when you got out from the front door, looking defeated. He looked at Kaminari who’s staring at him and groaned.

“I knew she hated me.” He mumbled, which reached the boy’s ears.

“What do you mean? Who?” Sero asked. “Oh, man!” Sero groaned while Kaminari smirked at him.

“Better luck next time, bro!” Kaminari laughed at Sero, earning him a groan from the tape-hero.

“You’re really bad at this, Soy Sauce Face.” Bakugou smirked.

“I’m not. I think it’s you who suck at this.” Sero smirked back at him, challenging Bakugou.

“What?! You’re the one who sucks at this! You wanna fight, huh, Tape Arms?!”

“Bro, chill.” Kaminari looked at Bakugou while chuckling. He turned towards Kirishima and faced him, his console now on his lap.

“Who hates you? Y/N?” He asked.

“Yeah.” Kirishima replied. Kaminari laughed at him while holding his stomach.

“What do you mean Y/N hates you?” Sero chuckled. Kirishima shoots them a confused look, not knowing what’s going on.

“Doesn’t she hate me? I mean, she’s so friendly towards all of you even to Bakugou, but every time she sees me, she always avoid me.

“What the- this fucker.” Bakugou facepalmed at him while Kaminari and Sero continued to laugh at him.

“It’s not like that, idiot!”

Kirishima stared at them. What the fuck are they saying? Kirishima is really confused right now as to what was happening and what the boys are talking about.

“Y/N doesn’t hate you! In fact, she likes you!” Kaminari blurted out, torn between laughing at his friend’s stupidness or being frustrated at his friend’s stupidness.

Kirishima sat frozen on his seat. What the fuck? You like him?

The wind blew, making the leaves rustle, creating a peaceful music to your ears. The garden was a beautiful place to rest in. The calming breeze of the wind and the smell of flowers around and the birds’ small chirping around you can make a person’s heart fall into peacefulness.

But in contrast to what one should feel right now, the boy in front of you is trembling with nervousness. You can even see the cold sweats running down his forehead to his chin, disappearing on his uniform coat.

His eyes shot up at you, eyes full of determination despite his vulnerable state. He took a deep breath before standing straight and staring right into your eyes.

“Y-Y/N… I know you already feel my affection towards you, but I want to make a proper confession and express my love to you.” He started bravely. You feel your cheeks heat up and your heart race at his words, utterly flustered at his confession. Even though this is not your first time to have someone confess to you, you still get flustered every time you learned that someone has a crush on you.

“Y/N, I h-have liked you for a long time now, since first year.” The boy confessed.

You bit your lip and opened your mouth to speak, only to mutter a single “I-…” before heating up and avoiding his gaze. You fumbled at the hem of your skirt and looked up at the boy in front of you. Sighing, you corrected your posture and face him.

“I-i’m sorry b-but… I can’t reciprocate your feelings for me…” You mumbled.

He sighed and smiled at you, making you jolt a little at his action.

“It’s okay. I know you have Kirishima inside your heart from the start.” He said sheepishly. Your eyes widened as you realized what he just said to you.

“E-eh?!” You squeaked, cheeks heating up even more. He smiled at you before looking at something behind you. When you slowly turn around, it felt like time froze. Your heart thumping even louder as you stared at those crimson eyes that are open wide, shock evident inside them.

You swallowed hard as you felt embarrassment rose inside you. You just want the earth to open below you and swallow you to a place where you can save your ass from embarrassment. The boy gave you a small wave then walked away as Kirishima came over and stood in front of you. Silence fell as you and Kirishima gawked at each other with eyes wide open.

“I…I,” You attempted to speak up, but the bile inside your throat made you unable to do so.

“So… you like me, huh?” He said quietly, eyes staring at you. You chewed on your bottom lip and nod your head towards him. There’s no way to hide it now. He knows your feelings for him already, so why not just take this chance to confess?

“Y-yeah…”

He gave you a soft smile that made your heart swell and your insides melt, his smile giving you strength.

“B-but you don’t have to be forced to answer me. It’s okay if you don’t have the same feeling as me. It’s totally okay even though you like someone else-” Your words were cut off when his soft lips touched yours, sealing you into a kiss you thought would only happen in your dreams. You closed your eyes to feel his embrace more as you started kissing him back, your lips following his movements. The kiss was so magical and beautiful that you almost reached for his lips the moment he pulled from you. He chuckled at your reaction and kissed your forehead.

“Don’t worry sweetheart, you will get lots and lots of kisses today, onwards.” He said cockily, making you pout.

“Does this mean… you like me too?” You stared at his crimson eyes. He smiled at you and nodded. He leaned towards you until you felt his hot breath beside your ears, making you gasp.

“Since first year.” He whispered into your ear.

“I thought you hate me, though.” He pouted at you. Your eyebrows shoot up from what he said.

“Huh? Why would I hate you?” You asked, confused at his remark. He avoided your gaze, and you saw a small tint of pink on his cheeks. You can’t help but grin.

“Kirishima…” You hummed softly as he looked back at you. “Are you… blushing?” You asked him while grinning. This time, his face turned into red, almost like his hair and eyes.

“W-what?! Of c-course not!” He stuttered, making you laugh at him. He glared at you playfully, making you laugh even more.

“Stop laughing!”

“I can’t help it!” You snickered while trying to stop your laughter. Keyword: Trying. Instead of getting angry at you, Kirishima smiled softly at you, finding you cute while laughing. He can’t help but to steal a kiss from you once again making you stop laughing. Your face heat up once again and blinked at Kirishima.

“Now you’re the one blushing.” He teased. You smacked his arms and hid your face in his chest.

she asks you for suggestions for music to put on bc she loves introducing herself to new music

most of them are school related though

he can easily tell if you’re struggling with the coursework and asks you if you want go on a lil study date at the library or in his dorm

he also helps you with homework or explains the material to you if you don’t understand it

and he’s the best teacher since he’s extremely patient and well-spoken

if you’re feeling under the weather, he’ll head to your dorm to fetch your notebook so he can write the class notes for you

and he’ll put in the effort to make them as similar to your other notes as he can

so he flicks through the pages and (for example) if you have a highlighting code, he’ll look for the legend and highlight the notes he took accordingly

once school is over for the day, he goes to your dorm to drop off the notebook, putting it back in the respective part of your bag

and the next day when you open your notebook to check the notes, you notice that he wrote a little note for you;

it was a simple, kind gesture but the small details like how he coloured in the heart with a glittery yellow highlighter he must’ve took from your bag had you blushing (^///^)

also, whenever you’ve scheduled a study date at his dorm, there is no way in hell you’ll walk into his room and there isn’t 2 bowls of fresh soba sitting on the desk

no way. impossible.

he’s definitely a physical touch kinda guy but tries to be an acts of service man..y’know?

he doesn’t want you thinking that he likes hugging, cuddling, kisses or any of that none-sense bc..he is a big macho king explosion murder

and he knows that if he gets to comfortable with showing affection through physical touch, it’d become a habit then he might do it in public and the last thing he wanted was a rumour coming out that ‘king explosion murder is actually a huge cuddle-bug dork!’

so he hides it the best he can and expresses his love by like letting you wear his hoodie and not cussing you out when you do something stupid

but the fact is, nothing makes him feel better than holding you in his arms - under a blanket or not - with your face buried into his chest and your arm lazing draped over his shoulder

he usually does a good job at resisting his urge to randomly kiss you or take your hand in public

but there was that one time

luckily, it was on a date rather than on a school outing so it was only you who knows about it

it was probably around 6 months after y’all first started dating and he took you on a date to the carnival

there was a gang of boys who looked around a few years older than y’all and they were chatting amongst themselves until they approached the line you and Bakugo were waiting in (to get onto a ride at the carnival) and the group of boys stood behind you in line

at first everything was alright; they were just chatting while you were raving on about the ride to bakugo but he kinda tuned you out after he heard one of the guys say something along the lines of

“she’s kinda hot- a bit young but so fit. i think she’s from the UA too.”

that comment was enough to make his blood boil but a separate comment from one of the other guys tipped him over the edge,

“yeah and look at the guy she’s with. he’s the feral guy that needed to be put in chains at the sports festival - how embarassing.” he snickered, which was genuinely one of the most annoying noises bakugo has ever heard

his voice was low, in a whisper so they probably didn’t expect bakugo to hear it over the background noise of the carnival along with the girl yapping in his ear

but he did

and when i tell you this man was livid

in that moment he seriously considered just turning around and burning each and every one of those guys into a crisp

but the law-abiding citizen and hero inside him said no

instead, he fiercely snaked his arms around your hips to pull you into his chest and looked over his shoulders to shoot literal daggers at the guys

he led you out of the line for the ride in silence and you followed him without question - having heard the things those guys said but choosing to pretend as if you didn’t

“What was that about?” You finally asked as he brought you over to a bench, pulling you onto his lap

“Nothing.” He said, oddly calm as he stared into the void

“Okay.” You rolled your eyes, deciding not to pry as you obviously already knew what provoked him to do that. “I’m gonna go get some cotton candy then. Do you want some?”

“No.” He replied monotonously, allowing you to hop off his knee but immediately grabbing your hand, preventing you from going any farther than arms length from him.

Oh man Mr. Peanutbutter had a moment… he finally got that crossover episode… I was kinda hoping for a joke that went “Mr. Peanutbutter and BoJack Horseman in the same room? What is this, Philbert?” or “What is this, a short-lived show on a streaming network that got canceled because the star got addicted to painkillers and strangled his costar in a drugged haze?” but this is SO MUCH BETTER. I've never seen him cry before and the way he reacts to himself crying suggests that maybe he’s never cried before at all, and that’s why he just keeps laughing, almost like it’s forced, cause this is supposed to be his happiest moment and it’s not supposed to make him so sad. fucking,, character development

and the cold open of ep 8… you can forgive yourself and move on from your past wrongs but it doesn’t erase the things you did, the effects they have on people, and the trauma they’ve suffered. and then like, how can you forgive yourself if they never forgive you? how do you maintain that balance? why should you move forward if they can’t?

its weird to have an episode consisting entirely of guest stars but it also illustrates the extensive world they’ve built and i applaud that… also where the fuck is ana spanakopita

her quote about not wanting to be defined by what bojack did to her has always stuck with me, and i feel like now, that quote has sort of come true. like, her saying that made us avoid reducing her to what happened to her, and thats why i wanted to see her come back this season, hopefully moving past it. but she can’t. it traumatized her. and everyone can see the effects of it but she feels like she can’t come forward, cause if she does she’ll be punished. shit like that changes you.

and it’s another instance on the show where someone chooses to advance their career & preserve their reputation over doing the right thing (like what bojack does with herb & sharona), but bojack does it out of self-interest, and gina does it so she doesn’t have to relive her trauma every time she gets interviewed or recognized by a fan. but even when she keeps quiet about it she’s still reliving her trauma

you ever just like… you ever watch a scene and feel the cliffhanger vibes creeping up and you just know it’s gonna end there and leave you unsatisfied and begging for more but at the same time that’s what makes it such a good place to end it. that was me with this. (and also the ending of undone)

the thing about this show is, it illustrates what it’s like to be a toxic person. and sure, he has it hard, but the show never asserts that he has it any worse than his victims, even if bojack himself does so. and he only does it so he can feel better about himself. he deserves a reckoning, he needs to pay for his bad deeds. but then, when you know what made him this way and what goes on inside his mind and that he wants to get better, it makes you feel for him, and forces you to ask if he deserves to get better and forgive himself and move forward. but even if he does, it doesn’t change the things he did. it doesn’t fix the lives he’s ruined.

anyway sound off if you think bojack’s gonna die at the end. hopefully not by suicide

HISTORY;

from the second ziggy ws born he didnt stop screaming. within the first hours of his life he gave his father an ear splitting headache tht prompted him to say “that uncooked chicken’s fucking demonic” n joke abt popping “it” in the oven to roast. when this understandably received disgusted glances frm the nursing staff he ws all like “jeez alright alright i’m kiddin i’m kiddin can’t a guy have a joke around here?” n i feel like that sets up their dynamic so nice n sweetly <3 (sarcasm) (lips pursed)

frm day one he ws just honestly a rly hyperactive child. when he laughed he’d shriek it out at the absolute top of his lungs bc he’d just get this huge giddy surge of energy all the way to the very tips of his toes n it’d hit him like a shock from a fork in a plug socket. their parenting style ws rly just lazy tbh.... they didn’t have much time for disciplining him. ziggy’s mum wld halfheartedly be like “ziggy quiet now....” n then go bk to nuking whatever vegetables she’d defrosted until they tasted like dinosaur bones..... this wld not make any difference in ziggy’s behaviour

his father rly just took the stance that it ws ziggy’s mum’s job to discipline him or raise him in general which is. 🔪 please enter the 20th century sir.... get ur noggin sorted..... needless to say he wsn’t much involved in ziggy’s life n honestly generally jst didn’t like him. ziggy was a responsibility he didn’t want (accidental prregnancy) n in his literal words once said (blatantly while ziggy ws watching cartoons on the sofa) tht ziggy just “harshes my fucking vibe a lil bit”.

ziggy’s mum is like.... rly relationship dependent. she gets all her self worth n validation frm whtever man she’s dating.... so she went on this like.... wild rampage of jst. dating a very large string of men. they ranged frm dreadfully boring to downright awful n were always below her standards. ziggy quite literally hated. all of them. every last one. even one that tried to b nice to him by offering to help him do his math homework when he ws 13 (bc ziggy was struggling a lot w this) n in response ziggy loudly barked until the man gt scared n stumbled backwards into a dining chair on his way out of the room. while him n his mum hv a kind of strained situation (there’s a great deal of resentment from her end n kind of. blaming him fr “driving his father away” n it’s never spoken abt bt it’s very much Present in their relationship n honestly ziggy kind of resents her too fr bringing some of the men into their lives tht she did) there is. love there...... sometimes she’ll like. reach out to cup the back of his head n he’ll duck his head away n be like wtf are u doing checking me for lice? n she’ll jst smile like :)...... knowing that’s how he loves. in terms of wht’s going on to this day w his living situation i honestly think he still lives w his mum. i can just see this. KHGFSKGHSFGKSFGH. in like. a ramshackle bungalow in delphinus heights.... having said tht she probably isn’t. there tht often nw she’s dating her latest man (jonas, somehow always sweaty no matter the weather, wears too many gold rings n smells like shoe cleaner) who owns a car dealership n thinks he’s a kingpin for it. still home sometimes tho.

ziggy spends his days working shifts at an ice cream parlour (one he got fired from once bc he broke in high n ate sm ice cream he was lay on the floor in the bk pants unbuttoned stomach bulging sm calling himself garfield saying he had too much lasagna. they hired him bk tho bc he has a harem of middle aged women who lust after him n it brings customers....) or like. cruising parties...... setting off fireworks.... skateboarding...... breaking into abandoned buildings.... filming stupid jackass type tricks....... playing guitar hero...... getting drunk at the arcade..... sometimes busking fr cash in a tossed dwn hat (very badly) (thinks he’s sick at it however)........ or alternatively...... fucking chicks aha...... fuck.......... not exclusive to chicks tho just had to sound despicable bt :smirk: he’s bi Baby....

Would you be willing to share how you might rewrite Yukizome, Sakakura, and Munakata to make them likable characters (if not ppl Bc there’s a big difference)???

ahhhhhhh this ask got me so stupidly excited that I was like wavin my hands around. I think about how to rewrite their characters OFTEN. very often. I’m gonna go with likeable character over likeable people because I think they work better where they’re actually not that likeable people.

The one I think about the MOST is Munakata. He was SUCH wasted potential and I partially blame the medium for that (a single season anime is too constrained for future, it needed more time and care to be a proper story). But Munakata is actually so close to being a compelling character but they made some MAJOR mistakes with him. This ended up getting really long and more like a 3 page ADHD ramble essay. SO IM VERY SORRY to anyone who cannot read this but TYTYTY if you did because these ideas make me very happy! Oh it’s only about Munakata btw because of how long it got

The thing about Munakata is that he is designed to be a foil to Naegi. In fact a majority of dr3 future FOCUSES on this foil dynamic. It is Naegi’s hope vs Munakata’s hope. The World’s hope vs The FF’s hope. And more importantly it is True Hope vs Corrupted Hope.

This is a fantastic concept...so why didn’t it work in canon? I think that the biggest most glaring issue with Munakata’s hope is his logic. Munakata is meant to be a logical man, although with corrupted morals that lead him astray. Yet in canon his logic is laughably infallible. For example as a major figure in the FF and someone who wants to spread hope....why would he tell Naegi to kill himself? More importantly why does he continue to try and slaughter Naegi? The issue here isn’t from the fact that he wants him dead but from the fact that he is under the IMPRESSION that this entire game is being broadcast to the world.

Think about this for a second. In Munakata’s eyes he is going to kill the Ultimate Hope, an international symbol of a better life, live on TV. He doesn’t just want to kill the Ultimate Hope..he wants to do it BRUTALLY as a MAJOR FIGURE OF THE FF. IMO this should have happened later on as the game furthers the emotional turmoil in Munakata’s head and he eventually snaps and gives in to the desire to kill Naegi despite the fact that this is live. And then there should be CONSEQUENCES for that. I wanted so badly a realization where Munakata realizes that he is hurting the Ultimate Hope in front of what he believes is the entire world.

Another issue with Munakata’s logic is saying things such as...implying that the HPA KG was...just a game. I mean...people DIED. it's not hard to see how wrong that logic is. you can't say “this is the real world now” when what Naegi experienced WAS the real world. I think that this could be fixed through a bit of world building. DR3 Future is rather isolated from its world. We don’t really know much about the world and its dynamics. I think it would make perfect sense if the general public viewed the HPA KG as a tv show, they got numb to the sight and even those untouched by despair had a hard time connecting that these are REAL people suffering. With this previously established Munakata expressing that the KG was not real would make a lot more sense and play into his corrupted idea of hope.

There is also Munakata’s connection to his other friends. Now I’ve talked about this before but the game was clearly designed to BREAK Munakata and Naegi. This way the FF would die, both the FF and World’s hope would be broken, and upon seeing this Mitarai would have no choice but to deploy his own forced hope. So it makes perfect sense that Yukizome’s death would break him (in fact if she hadn’t died in that way, her NG code was designed to be Munakata’s fault). But something about it felt...superficial. Again I think this is the mediums fault but it almost feels as though Munakata just forgets about Yukizome until later. I think they should spend more time establishing his pain and what he has lost and why this pushes him to kill. In his eyes if she can die then nothing else matters. It should be THE breaking point, not the first push. I do like the betrayal he feels towards realizing she had despair but it needed more time to fester.

And his relationship with Sakakura also felt weak. In all honesty it was hard for me to feel as though they were ever friends. Sakakura is written as though he just follows Munakata like a loyal dog and Munakata just orders him around. Establish their relationship more! Why are they such good friends? Why is Sakakura important to him? And more importantly why did Munakata decide to cruelly gut Sakakura knowing he was about to confess? This is because he believed that Sakaura was despair and that his confession was more manipulation, but they didn’t show this well at ALL. Munakata just comes across as a major a-sshole who does not care. I also personally found it distasteful that when changing his heart Munakata only seemed to cry for Yukizome. I understand that was his love interest but Yukizome at the end of the day killed herself. Sakakura however was an unnecessary betrayal he took into his own hands AS HE HIMSELF KILLED HIM. He should have more guilt over that! Not just in that moment where he runs to Sakakura, but ahead of time as well! Maybe even DURING his rampage they could have shown him having moments of guilt but he is so absorbed in the idea that all despairs have to die that he doesn’t even realize he has become despair in the name of hope.

A BIG weakness on Munakata’s part comes with interacting with other characters. He is a man who should know how to take charge, lead, and doesn't know what to do when things are getting too crazy even though he THINKS he does. Munakata is heavily flawed, OBVIOUSLY flawed, but many of the interactions with him are as tho his rampage isnt a big deal. There should be reasons for this! Why do people trust Munakatas guidance so much? I dont know! All ive seen from him is that hes insane! Maybe even pieces where around others hes a lot nicer so you can understand why they follow him, even though hes ready to gut Naegi alive with a flaming katana. His interactions with others feel like the writers just wanted to see the next big evil thing they could think of, but for Munakata’s character this doesn't make sense because he was appointed a high status in the foundation for a reason. Maybe even have people say they disagree with some of his methods but at the end of the day he gets the job done!

There is another major missed opportunity here and it's why Muanakata wants Naegi dead so badly in the first place. The remnants. Hiding terrorists in the apocalypse is a PERFECTLY valid reason to want someone dead and think they're a bad guy! But I think since Naegis initial arrest was already so hostile and violent we get the sense that the FF is simply just...crazy.

And let’s think about what Munakata WANTS from Naegi. He does not just want Naegi dead he wants something worse. He wants Naegi to suffer first. He thinks that Naegi doesnt understand his own personal pain. He thinks that because Naegi protected the remnants he must also not care about the suffering the remnants caused. He wants Naegi to feel despair and then die. This is important to his corrupted hope. He thinks the suffering must be shared in order to understand who must die, but he is creating a cycle of pain. Tie this back to the broadcasting issue. He wants Naegi to break for everyone to see. I think..and this is just a concept..I think it would have been a great idea for Munkata to force Naegi to watch the despair video so that he has no choice but to understand.

AND themes are majorly important to Danganronpa. And I don’t think its a stretch to say that there are parallels between Munakata and Naegi. In fact I would say that there are aspects of the og trio in this new trio. I think it would have been really cool if they showed how our favorite trio could have ended up if they had been corrupted as well. But the parrellels dont stick strongly. I think it would have been cool to show a past where Munakata’s idealism lies more strongly than Naegis. As the student council president there was a time where he himself had to use his words to solve problems. Perhaps he learned that sometimes his words made things worse. Munakata does not have Naegi’s talent of emotional intelligence. He is a man of action over words. So he interprets this as WORDS being the problem rather than understanding he does not have these skills. Especially when the apocalypse breaks out, it becomes all action over words. So he sees Naegi who is all talk as a genuine threat who will let everyone die through his “weak ineffective” idea of hope.

Another parallel could be drawn from the fact that they both have hope based careers. Their job is too keep things hopeful. Maybe Naegi stays safe doing public broadcasted speeches, while Munakata is on the field weeding out despairs. This would cause Munakata to feel as though Naegi is doing no real work yet getting all the credit for being a savior.

Munakata constantly complains that Naegi does not know true pain. But he and we as an audience have followed Naegi through his entire process of trauma. We know he is in the wrong. But what do we as an audience know about Munakata’s suffering? We are shown almost nothing! There are some implications, but for how intense he is implications are not enough. We need to see his suffering. We should see how he has witnessed death. Yukizomes death is not nearly enough for this because he talks as though he has suffered for years. How can we as an audience understand that when we have never seen it? How can we understand Munakata when he is outright denying Naegi’s trauma that we KNOW existed with no proper justification for his reasoning?

I also believe that Munakata should have died. It actually upsets me a bit that he was PLANNED to die but didn't. He should have died protecting Naegi after all that suffering and relentless brutality he offered him. Munakata again is a man of action over word, and protecting Naegi with his last breath is the perfect way to show how in the end he changed. Especially when all he wanted initially was for Naegi to die. I find that much more satisfying than just…...walking off to who knows where.

So lets recap some changes. Munakata needs a proper display of his past traumas and his relationship with Sakakura and Yukizome. Munakata needs a proper display of his work relationships and the respect he has earned. Munakata needs to fall into corruption at a better pace, and have geniune reasons for his illogical attacks on Naegi. Munakata needs to care more for his friends. Munakata needs to deal with the turmoil of wanting to hurt Naegi while he believes the world is watching. Munakata needs to die for Naegi

This has gotten long...and I still have things to say. There is so much to make Munakata a good character. Future had a lot of potential and is amazing for a rewrite concept. As for Sakakura and Yukizome since this has gotten long feel free to ask for another round of this individually when asks are open again! If you read all of this somehow….TYSM
