back into routine 🌱
For the last three months, I took a step back from posting to focus more on myself. Having started to work full-time recently, I neglected my personal well-being and needed kind of a reset.
Here is what I do now to feel much better about myself:
go to sleep earlier: I used to sleep about 6 hours per night. Then I read "Why we sleep" by Matthew Walker and it changed my life. Since then, I aim to sleep 8 hours per night and I feel so much more refreshed in the morning.
work out in the morning: After work, I usually feel very tired and am not at all in the mood to work out. Instead, I started working out directly after getting up in the morning and it makes me feel more energized and strong.
move my body more in general: I now go for a walk in the afternoon or in the morning on my rest days. I can think deeply on those walks, listen to inspiring podcasts, or call a friend or relative on the way.
drink more water: There were some days where I drank more coffee than water - to be honest, this just could not be healthy at all. I bought a water bottle that subtly reminds me to drink every 30 minutes and I feel so much better overall. Now I drink 2-3 litres per day!
eat more nutritional meals: I used to snack every so often and have heavy meals in the evening, leading to bloating and just not feeling very well in general. Now I have balanced meals for breakfast and lunch and simply have a nice salad in the evening. For reading, I totally recommend "The Diet Compass" by Bas Kast here!
re-evaluated my relationships: Some people make you feel good, some don't. I started spending less time with those who don't and more with those that are laughing with me, not about me.
have less screen time: Being in front of a desktop the whole workday, I simply set up a timer on my phone to spend less time on it and social media especially. This gives me more time to go out or read books!
I think that each one of those points is very important for your overall health. If you are already doing those points with ease, I am very happy for you! Keep it up and if you like, share your experience with us!

[07.01.2020] Day 6/100: back at it again ☀️⁣    ↳ [07/01/2020, 17:00]⁣
Same room and then a change of scenario. I'm feeling a bit off today, not quite sure why, so I haven't been able to study as much as I would have liked. I did so some organising for the end of the week, when I will be flying back to the UK and my uni house, which means back to managing a household. I got started on meal planning for the week and now I'm sat brainstorming for my DnD campaign. I'll be DMing for the first time ever on Friday! Later I will try returning to my studies, such I started this morning, but if I am still feeling unwell I might just stick to making my life easier for the weekend with all this preplanning and trying to have an early night, so I can start fresh tomorrow morning.

There is another, closed, notebook next to the laptop, and you can see a window in the background, to the right. Image 2: a white, lined notebook is open to two pages filled with text in black ink. There are three colour pens next to the notebook, and another unearth it. The background is solid dirty white. /end ID]

SKETCHSTRIKER’S STUDIES. Day 32-39 / 100 (24.02.19 - 03.03.19). Sorry I haven’t posted as regularly as of the late. My roommate just got himself a corgi puppy who I babysit from time to time. And I had to watch my older dog make sure she would not be aggressive at all. So far she seems slightly motherly or indifferent towards the puppy. I’ve posted a picture of a work in progress project, the cat tree for my boyfriend’s cat, Medusa. And another one of my law books and other writing reference books. And three times I’ve worked on my law notes. As you guys can see, I’m currently in my last semester!

Hi there!
I’m pretty sure nearly every studyblr/langblr knows the app forest by now, it’s a great way to stay focused and motivated after all. But I feel like I am not using it to its full potential yet so I’m searching for people who’d like to be friends in forest. Like this, it’s easier to find people to talk to, help each other out of a block, compare times and motivate each other.
Sounds good? Great!
If you’re interested you can either:
send me a message or join us on discord
thx!

(ultimate guide) on motivation for studying/revising
I’ve seen a couple of posts around the internet about how to gain the motivation for people to actually start studying but I didn’t actually find a post which resonates with me? Since exams are over, and my results were pretty decent, I decided why not make a guide on how to find that motivation to revise/study. Please note that these tips helped me so I am posting them to help you. It may or may not help you since it was after all created by a student to aid her in her own studies. Proceed with caution.
1. GRADES WILL STAY WITH YOU
if you are in high school now, your grades will probably stay with you and affect your college application! if you are in uni now, your grades in uni will stay with you and likely affect the certificate you are getting (whether you are graduating 1st class honours or not). Whatever it is, the grades that you are creating now will stay with you. You don’t really like math? That’s fine! You don’t have to score well on it since you’re definitely not going to study that in university. But wouldn’t it pull down your total grades? So you shall see an AAD for your a level result- think of how it will affect your university application. (I’m talking in a level context here, I’m not sure if the same system works in the states?) Whatever it is, (i really don’t want to say this but it’s the cold hard truth) your results are going to affect you some way or another. Those hateful subjects will not stay with you forever, but the results will affect you one way or another. So study hard for those tests so that you can rock them!
2. DOING WELL WILL OPEN UP MORE DOORS
If you are thinking of why you should study especially when you have no clue as to where to go in life, this is actually a perfect reason for you to do so! If you happen to score well in tests, but you really don;t know what you are going to do in life, the fact that you score well means that you have a wider range of options. Compare a score of AAA for A-levels and AAD? Think for yourself which one would allow you to have more courses.
3. DON’T STRESS OUT
Before you continue on, I know my previous tips were probably not a relief for those of you who were looking for tricks like putting gummy bears to motivate you but lol sorry my advice are really just the cold hard truth. This tip will hopefully be a bit more light-hearted than the other 2 and that is to NOT stress! Stress is not the way for motivation. The more you stress, the more you panic, the more time wasted on you thinking about ‘what if _ happens’. So no, stop stressing out. It’s a NO NO! You might ask me how this a motivation tip but trust me, a stressed man is a unmotivated man.
4. INNER MOTIVATION
The above 3 tips are actually what I can tell you to make you motivated but this tip actually lies in yourself - whether you want to do it or not. Everyone has a motive for doing well - whether it is to prove others that you are better than what they think of you, or to get into your dream university or your parents told you to do so. Whatever it is, you have to FIND it, and along with that, you will definitely HAVE THE MOTIVATION! This is a long-term motivation that no one can give you. Only you can give it to yourself because this is the most powerful tool. Go find it and you will definitely be so motivated you can’t be stopped. (I’m not kidding)
AND THAT CONCLUDES IT ALL!
All the best with all your exams! Know that it isn’t the last thing on earth to depend on for your future but it is just a step as a reference for where you want to head to.

[31.07.2020] Day 2/60 - Meetings that go on forever
Yes, I promise this is a picture taken on a different day! It’s just taken in the same place, and the week hasn’t yet changed xD
This morning I spent some time tidying up my notes on Transformative Justice and going throuhgh a guided Case Study, to make sure I fully understood what TJ was and how to apply it. I then finished formatting through a collation of feedback answers we got from a survey we put out. At this point, it was lunchtime, which due to quarantine I had with my dad and brother since all three of us are at home - my mom has already returned to working from the office and my sister was out for the day.
In the meeting I then had right after lunch the committee sat and taught eachother about different things we’d spent the week learning - mine was Transformative Justice and Community Accountability. The idea is to ensure our student association is doing the best it can for those who need us the most, and working to create a space that is welcoming and refreshing to all.
After that I chilled outside, enjoying the evening Sun. We then all had dinner together as a family and I am now writing this post, after which I will attempt to do some writing (you can check that out over @nana-writes)
[ID: a square picture with a blueish background. there is an open laptop with a blacked out screen in the top half of the picture, a pair of black headphones to the left side of it. On the right side there is a white and green mug of milky coffee. Underneath this all is a squared paper notebook, open to a colourful weekly spread /end ID]

Not a Perfect Studyblr Tag
thanks to my friend @peachy-learning for tagging me! i often feel like studyblrs have this reputation for being “perfect” and “flawless” when that definitely is not the case. school is stressful enough as it is without us having yet another set of unreasonable expectations to compare ourselves to, so it’s good of the community to try and keep things realistic!
i can be lazy. very lazy. if you asked me for my deadly sin it would be sloth. this pairs really badly with my desire be remembered when i die. lately i’ve been in this midlife crisis (except i’m in my teens lol) where i’ll think about myself and where i’m going with my life and go, will this change the world, though? but then i can’t think of another thing to do that will, or if i can, i feel like i’ll fail if i try and i end up getting really depressed and mopey for a few hours.
i get too anxious too easily. the smallest obstacle and i’m already completely panicking. on the days when i have too many assignments i often spend more time worrying about everything i have to do than actually doing it.
i’m not very intelligent? i’m fine with memorization but when it comes to understanding what i’m doing i fail completely. to get decent marks in subjects like math or physics requires a lot of effort on my part, and i often get resentful of other students who get much higher marks with less effort, and it discourages me because if i try and still fail, what’s the point?
i have this problem with asking for help. my mother drilled it into me at a young age that if you asked for help you were weak, so usually when i don’t understand a concept i just. give up and bullshit the rest of my work.
i compare myself too often. i get really jealous of even my closest friends when they succeed, which isn’t good to say the least. it makes me feel like i’m failing somehow, because if they’re succeeding and i’m not, then what am i doing wrong? it’s not something i’m proud of and definitely something i’m working on.
it kind of hurts to read this over tbh. i have a lot of flaws and i’m not proud of them, but it’s important that we admit that we’re all not the aesthetic photos that we post. i do hope this made a few of you feel better about your lives! always remember that you’re not the only one struggling and everyone around you has their own obstacles they’re trying to overcome.
i’m tagging (and feel no pressure to do this btw): @lavietudier, @cactii-studies, @studymo, @grangers-spirit, and @featherstudy!
