Stranger things volume 1/2 and past character death spoilers
So uhhh another stranger things volume 2 trailer had dropped at the nba game and I saw it but was curious on the parts that had been flashed across the screen. Well I found it on YouTube and slowed it down and wellll my over analyzing self was kinda in a mix of sad worried and well happy??? Happy because atleast I can prepare myself. So we all know about Eddie’s predicament and how if you have seen the first volume 2 trailer dustin is sticking together with Eddie to fight. When I slowed down the trailer and found these two images.Dustin crying out and eddie preparing to fight something or someone. Same lighting same clothes same everything.
Now Ik it’s kinda hard to see but we know the duffer bros are no strangers to killing off characters even if they haven’t had a proper storyline for example Bob, Alexei, possibly Billy? So obviously they are willing to kill off a character within a season or even a few episodes. Another reason why I believe he might bite the dust is because as we know he’s been talking about how he just runs in fear now, he even talked to Steve about how usually he isn’t that heroic and how he would’ve just ran and wouldn’t have helped in fear AND he even said there’s no shame in running in the first ep. So he might pull a Billy and be like maybe I can be a hero for once and sacrifice himself. So now I’m worried for my bby eddie and if he’s gonna live to see season 5 or even the last episode. My friend was even like maybe at his funeral he will finally graduate like hella outta pocket 😭😭. If anyone has anything to add please comment

this crossed a very important line.
it isn’t about the ships at this point, it’s about queer characters’ feelings being used to ‘uplift’ the straight couple’s relationship.
as a queer person myself, will’s car scene has me sobbing all day. all day. and i know it’s “just a tv show” but honestly? it makes you believe that this is the most you’ll get. treating a queer character as a plot device and having them suffer, be ignored and left out is actually heartbreaking. we all know they can do better than this
god, he literally called himself a mistake.

I know many of you don't read my long posts so here are my greatest recent Byler-canon comforts:
1. Lies, when revealed (especially when they directly influence the plot of the person lied to), have to affect the person lied to. Acceptance is a neutral response and therefore the only effects it can have on Mike are homo(phobic) or homo(sexual). (But homophobic wouldn't have impacted his actions and...well it isn't that one)
2. The nature of the tragedy of self-sabotage is that things would have gone differently had the character not self-sabotaged. Tragedy lies in the "what if". For season 4 to be a romantic tragedy for Will (which it canonically is even if the whole show isn't), there has to be a "what if"/"if only": if only Will hadn't lied, Mike would have reciprocated.
If these aren't true, the plot is pointless because it affects nothing if removed: Mike doesn't love Will? Then they wouldn't have ended up together whether Will told him or not. Mike doesn't love Will? Then he would have told El he loved her without the prompting of "you're the heart" and the painting from El. <- that is bad writing, and I trust the Duffers know better than that. They've demonstrated better in the past.

actually im gonna keep making posts complaining about steve’s characterization in volume 2 because it was genuinely awful.
for one, i think he Maybe spoke one word to dustin personally. he didn’t hug him or anything before leaving him to a dangerous situation, didn’t comfort him after eddie’s death, and just straight didn’t show any concern for him at all. that’s not a steve harrington thing. that’s just bad writing. volume 1 steve would be murdering volume 2 steve.
on the topic of eddie, there was no point in having steve tell him “don’t be a hero” before everything happened and then Not show steve’s reaction to him going out and doing just that: being a hero and dying for it. it’s lazy writing to start something and not show the outcome. maybe the duffer brothers were afraid people would keep pushing the steddie agenda. they’re cowards.
steve’s interactions with robin were just whatever. he let her run up ahead without any concern for her when they were LITERALLY IN THE UPSIDE DOWN just so he could have a dumb, out of character conversation with nancy. definitely a Choice!
and then literally don’t even get me fucking started on him and nancy. im a stancy hater because i will never get over season 2. this season has been trying so hard to force a stancy renewal that it’s kind of funny? there’s no reason for it literally at all. having steve talk about his six dream kids with nancy was so WEIRD. Where did that come from. How is steve still not even slightly over nancy. This is so bad. It’s so bad. I don’t blame nancy for getting super weirded out. can you even imagine being in that situation. What is wrong with the duffer brothers.
overall: They butchered my boy. Let him move on from Nancy. Let him be the bisexual he deserves to be. Give him more actual character development. Let him have a very very very near death experience. It was nothing but wasted potential to make his storyline so boring in volume 2.

fluff prompt: "I'm here, I'm real" with Eddie Munson
i'm real. (e.m)
tags: fluff, SLIGHT angst, just a lot of screaming and crying.
warnings: mentions of blood & death.
word count: 0.4k
"Are there any more vents?" Dustin yelled out to you and Eddie as he backed away from the recently closed one.
No words were exchanged between the trio as you and Eddie frantically ran for the one in his room. You looked at Eddie in a panic as the demobats had already filled the room by the time you entered.
"Sweetheart, we have to leave. Now!" He yells in close pursuit behind you back into the living room as he slams his bedroom door.
"Let's go home!" Dustin yells, gripping onto the sheet that gives you all access to the real world. You followed closely behind, the shrill sound of demobats breaking down Eddie's bedroom door heard throughout the trailer.
"Come on Eds!" You called through the gate, watching Eddie hesitate before taking his knife and cutting the sheet, removing his easy escape out the upside-down.
"I love you, sweetheart. Always have and I always will. Take care of them Henderson. It's time to step up and be a hero." He said blowing you a kiss as you watched in disbelief at the scene in front of you.
"Eds, no! Munson!" You screamed, tears welling up in your eyes, looking at Dustin. "Henderson, Dustin, we have to go back in. Move it" you said with a sob, pushing a chair under the gaping hole of a gate in Eddie's ceiling.
In a flash, you broke through the gate, grabbing Dustin and helping him inside. As you ran outside to find Eddie being circled by a swarm of bats, you froze, making Dustin push past you out of the door.
"Eddie!" Dustin yelled, breaking you from your trance, watching him run towards Eddie and the swarm.
"Eds!" You screamed out, running up to him after the bats fell from the sky thanks to the others fighting the same battle as you.
"Oh god, baby. Are you okay?" You choked out, falling to your knees beside him, immediately pulling him to you.
"I'm okay love. Just a few bites, if Harrington can manage, so can I." He muttered through gritted teeth.
"Oh thank you, I-we thought you were dead!" You cried out, pulling Eddie into a hug, kissing every inch of his face.
"Hey, sweetheart. I'm here, I'm real. I just didn't want to run anymore." He mumbled into your neck, pulling away to pull you into a kiss.
"Don't you ever try to pull a fast one on me again! Do you hear me, Munson?" You asked sternly, earning a chuckle from the long-haired lad.
"Never again babe."
