it isn’t about the ships at this point, it’s about queer characters’ feelings being used to ‘uplift’ the straight couple’s relationship.
as a queer person myself, will’s car scene has me sobbing all day. all day. and i know it’s “just a tv show” but honestly? it makes you believe that this is the most you’ll get. treating a queer character as a plot device and having them suffer, be ignored and left out is actually heartbreaking. we all know they can do better than this
So a few weeks ago my family gathered for thanksgiving. My two little cousins are both big Stranger Things fans. The older of the two is in college and the younger in elementary school. So naturally I had to discuss the show with them - theories, favorite characters, etc. And of course… Byler!
So I asked the older girl “so… Mike and Eleven, or Mike and Will?” Without hesitation she said “oh, Mike and Will. Definitely.”
Every time I think a stranger writers tweet is fake I’m proven wrong—and they’re so real for this one in response to promo about stranger things day LMAO (x)
byler pulling a korrasami 2.0 (with even more canon material, hints, foreshadowing, and explicit romantic scenes) would be amazing!
i know "home is not the same without you" is already pretty romantic coded per se, but knowing the writers like korrasami makes everything even better!
