Do you ever just think about the fact that Mike and Will have most definitely slept in the same bed many times (at sleepovers when they were younger) and so when they pine for each other and to be beside each other at night, it's not just some abstract thing in their minds but something they can basically tangibly feel and tangibly miss. Like they literally know the other's scent and what it's like to watch the other sleep and whether the other steals all the covers or kicks all of them off etc. etc. and they both have to sleep alone living with the knowledge that that's something they once had but will never be able to get back (at least to their knowledge) because of society's demands and expectations. 😇
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH ITS NOT FAIRRR also why is nobody talking about that one photo where will is looking out his bedroom window with his hand on his neck…and the photo noah posted of him wearing a harness. WHY IS NOBODY DISCUSSING THIS????
I think Mike and Will’s first kiss should be in a quiet moment with little to no stakes — just a gentle, yet emotional, “hey, I want you to know how I feel” kind of moment. I think it would really showcase how different their relationship is from Mike and Eleven’s because Mike’s big, romantic moments with her tend to be dire or frustrating. His love for Will has never been like that. Sure, there have been dire circumstances, but even in those moments, love was soft and unprompted.
This is one of my favorite parallels in the show because omg?? MIKE PARALLELING VICKY?? WILL PARALLELING ROBIN??? The Duffers were fucking wild for this
Forever thinking about S1-S2 Mike and how his relationship with Will developed over time.
People always talk about Mike pulling away from Will because of his growing feelings towards him, but what about their collective trauma?
Mike watched them pull his best friend’s body out from the quarry. He saw what everyone said was the dead body of the person he cared about most. And then he came back.
Will basically came back from the dead for Mike. And in season two, when Will was going through the flash backs, Mike tried to hang onto him and support him as best he could. Mike couldn’t protect him from the upside down the first time, but he could this time. He was dedicated to protecting Will from the horrors he had been through.
But once Will was possessed, I think Mike pulled away a little. He realized he couldn’t protect Will the way he wanted to. He couldn’t save him. But El could. So he pulled away. He couldn’t bear to lose Will. He couldn’t bear to watch him slip from his grasp a third time. So he made El his priority, to ensure that she stopped all of this once and for all, so he could have his Will back.
Mike doesn’t want El to be his super hero. Mike doesn’t want El to be free from the upside down. He wants El to make Will free from the episode down. She needs to be Will’s super hero, because Mike can’t be.
