The Strange Policy | Stephen Strange
Tumblr media
Pairing: surgeon!Stephen Strange x nurse!femme!reader
Word Count: 5K
A/N: I watched When Harry Met Sally and got inspired and in my feels. This is a product of that and it’s also my take on the “there's only one-bed” trope. This is also my first Stephen smut so be gentle....might do an angsty part two, but ZERO promises. Enjoy.
Warnings: SMUT (18+ ONLY), mentions of wounds/cuts/etc, doctor stuff, vague ass stuff, lack of medical knowledge, cringey fluff, etc.
"Did I wake you?"
She hummed briefly, debating lying but sighing out the truth, "You know I don't sleep."
"You sleep more than I do," His laugh was breathy, revealing his fatigue, "What are you doing?"
"Watching When Harry Met Sally."
Her chin was working its way down to her chest as she slumped further into her bed. She filtered through the channels, nothing grabbing her withering attention. But then there it was.
Maybe it was the fall leaves she was desperate to have over the snow that taken over that drew her in or maybe it was the nostalgia tied to it, either way, it filled her with something that she was happy Stephen's call interrupted.
"Really?" There was his superficial judgment she was looking for. In an odd way, it grounded her, always a good reminder to not take too things seriously. That was only when it wasn't getting on her nerves.
Her tone was dull as she answered, "Really."
She could picture him now, his posture slightly hunched to reach the phone while he rubbed his recently discarded cap off his head and through his hair. His mind was probably still in the operating room already critiquing his technically perfect operation.
If she wasn't in the room with her, he'd always call her after. He'd give her the play-by-play of what happened, down to the music choice. She preferred to be in the O.R. with him, no longer dreading it like she once had.
She could appreciate the way he worked. It was clinical for a purpose, but under all of that, she loved the way she'd inadvertently become his good luck charm. It was the first and last time she'd complimented him on his procedure methods. From there forward, he'd offer her a wink before picking up his scalpel. It was a joke at first, but it stuck like honey due to his superstition and genuine amusement.
"Do you agree?"
"With what?" She mumbled, watching as the movie had another five-year time skip. New York was always so romanticized in the movies, only showing the beautiful love-filled parts. Perhaps, that's what it truly did look like for someone in love.
"That men and women can never be friends because the sex part always gets in the way."
He could feel her laugh on the other end all the way down to his toes. That or it was the exhaustion catching up to him.
"You clearly do with that 'Strange Policy' and all," She smiled lightly, loving teasing him about the unofficial rule Palmer had created for Metro-General. One that she knew was in place not for his lack of trying.
"That doesn't answer my question," He tutted softly. She could feel his smirk from the other end, knowing her answer was contrary to his and how he loved to pick it apart. He lived to challenge her but loved when she challenged him as she was one of the few who succeeded in doing so.
"We're friends, aren't we?"
---
They had met years ago, yet if you asked Stephen at the time he would have said he'd never met her. She was his scrub nurse of a handful of years and yet he had failed to learn her name, too concerned over his ego to care.
It wasn't until a fateful New Year's Eve. There was always the press at the door, waiting for the New Year's Eve babies. Along with the numerous alcohol-fueled accidents that fit in just before midnight. Then there were the patients that had been in their beds for months, the ones that needed constant care even during the busiest nights.
Sure, the pay was slightly better, but there wasn't enough monetary compensation to give to make up for what the nurses endured on the holiday. The work was demanding, but the doctors were even more so. The doctors were always on edge, but the holiday brought out a completely other side to them. Accident reports were their worst enemy, but it was the unorthodox olive branch between the doctor and the nurse.
"They got you good," Stephen spoke softly to match the quietness of the room. His headlamp was bright in her eyes as she tried to pull away from him and the utensils he was too quick to pull out.
"It wasn't her fault," Her response held bitterness. Her head was throbbing from the bedpan that had been thrown at her. It was yet another nightmare story to add to her repertoire.
"Shouldn't need stitches," He continued his examination on the small flesh wound above her eyebrow, dabbing it with the iodine swab.
She grew jittery on the parchment paper of the exam chair. The entire thing was uncomfortable from its start. Stephen had walked in on her disinfecting her cut, thinking he was one of the only ones left. She tried to be discreet about it, but he was criticizing her methods before she knew what was happening.
"I know that."
"It's a superficial wound at best-
"I know."
"You seem to know a lot," He hummed while removing his gloves for a fresh pair. He was nothing but thorough. Then he looked down at her scrubs to add, "You're not a doctor on this floor, are you?"
Her laugh was anything but genuine. In hindsight, she could see how his question was actual, but the struggles of the night overwhelmed her and took her sense of humor with it.
She went to speak but his voice was louder, "I work this holiday every year-
"So do I-
"How come I've never seen you?"
"Look, Dr. Strange-
"You know me?" His charm was instantaneous, asking the ego-filled question with delight. He read her face quickly understanding the double meaning of the conversation, "Am I supposed to know you?"
She eyed him, trying hard to give him the benefit of the doubt, but his smugness drove her, "Ask me for a scalpel."
He paused his action for a moment, a confused laugh threatening to break his perfect bandage application, "What?"
She insisted, remaining still until he pulled away from her again, checking his handiwork. It looked seamlessly put back together, some of his best work, "Come on, ask me."
He'd bite.
"Pass me the 10-blade." It depended on the surgery and she hadn't been specific. Therefore, he went for the safe, generic choice. One he rarely used due to the higher-powered tools it took to get inside of someone's head.
"10-blade." Her tone was mocking and he finally understood why.
He hadn't realized she was the hands behind him tying his medical gown. It wasn't a part of his routine to pay attention. He was too immersed in running through the surgery ahead of him trying to push away the feeling of pressure to hold up perfection. There were always more people in his room, all the students pushing and shoving each other behind the glass wall in hopes they'd be able to catch Stephen's free hand something.
Yet, he never realized she was front row to all of it.
---
She had a love-hate relationship with hospitals. She thought they were always too bright with a bleak atmosphere. There were phones constantly ringing, monitors always beeping, people coughing all of the air out of themselves; everything too overwhelming to the senses. Yet, she loved everything about it even down to the paperwork.
It was therapeutic for her, something to keep her hands busy and give her a breather from the constant social interactions of her position. It was a moment she'd have for herself that she usually spent contently alone.
"You seem tired."
A coffee cup now sat on the line she was supposed to use to record her notes. She followed it up to be met with Stephen, an identical cup in his own hand. This was new.
"We don't have that thrombectomy until 12," Her eyebrows furrowed with confusion all the while ignoring his unintentional insult.
"I know," He took her response as an invitation to join her, pulling the chair next to her away from the table for himself,  "We've got some time to kill."
It took him a few weeks to warm up to the idea he was in the wrong for not recognizing her. But once he did their conversation flowed more smoothly. It remained professional, cordial even, but it was no longer in the nonexistent territory. Something he couldn't stand.
"Did you always want to be a nurse?"
"What is this?" She looked between the coffee and him, suspicion settling instantly. The last thing she wanted was someone else workload passed off on her on mile high stack.
"What? Don't blame me for trying to get to know the person who hands me blades..." He teased only to receive a glare. He copied her squint slightly in further jest to ask, "Too soon?"
It was the first time his humor had caused the smallest of smiles to appear on her face. She wasn't sure what about it let him wedge his way into her life she so desperately wanted to separate from him, but figuring out that she preferred her coffee black with a lot of sugar helped.
It helped start a routine, something both doctors and nurses thrived off of. Usually, Stephen's break would have a slight overlap with hers, not always, but day by day it seemed as if it was happening more frequently. So frequently, Stephen had begun waiting at the nurse's station for her to come out of the last thing she'd been doing.
"Loitering again, Dr. Strange?" Her voice startled him slightly, her hand coming to touch the back of his arm to move past him more easily. It was fleeting, but it was deliberate.
Sometimes their finger brushed in the O.R., but there was always gloves covering the touch. His skin pricked as if she'd shocked him. He wasn't used to touch in that way, let alone accepting it, but it felt different from her.  It was like his senses had become heightened to how closely she was now standing to him. He watched her as she sorted her charts like she always had mindlessly chatting with him about something unrelated.
But Stephen hadn't heard a word, too focused on how she was careless with her movements, no longer thinking or moving away if they touched. It was like they had passed an unspoken milestone. One that made Stephen's confidence falter for just a moment.
"Can't do coffee today," She muttered, but Stephen finally and fully picked up on what she said. He ignored the rest of her reasoning due to simply not wanting to hear it, "I'm going to-
"I noticed on the schedule you get off at eight," He continued despite her still speaking, "I was thinking-
"You do a lot of that," She stopped him before he could start. She'd evaded it skillfully the past few times, not usually one to mix business and pleasure, but Stephen was nothing but persistent.
"Dinner."
"Dr. Strange-
"My treat."
"Dr. Strange-
"Stephen."
If there were lingering nurses near them, they all stopped what they were doing, eyes and ears intended on hearing what was happening between the two. Stephen was notorious for his wit, but not entirely for his flirtatious side. It caught everyone in the room off guard.
However, she wasn't buying any of it for a moment, "What's your motive?"
He couldn't help but smile, "Didn't realize I murdered someone."
---
It was cold out again, a few winters later.
She  had finally gotten a moment to herself where she could strip herself of  the scrubs she had on for over twelve hours, shower to wash off other people's bodily fluids, and get off her aching feet to give her back a  break.
The beds were never comfortable in the on-call room, but they fulfilled their purpose.
She  was fast asleep when she felt the bed dip. She turned slightly,   thinking it was someone else trying to hoist themselves to the bunk   above her. Soon enough, she'd slip back under into slumber. But, she   felt the scratchy blanket being pulled from her shoulders pulling her   further from the state she wanted to be in.
"Move over," The voice was deep, but undoubtedly belonged to the head of neurosurgery.
She groaned lightly, something resembling a disappointed whine, "Get your own bed, I've finally got a break."
"I've got surgery in an hour," He said pushing himself further into the twin-sized space, "And the other beds are taken-
"Fine." She hadn't allowed him to protest further. She couldn't care about anything else, desperate for sleep to chase away exhaustion. However, his sterile smell overwhelmed her quickly, pushing her to whisper once more, "Where'd you come from?"
"Craniotomy," He moved around more, looking for the most comfortable spot to lay.
She could only hum in acknowledgment, barely able to really process what he was really saying.
He continued, mind still buzzing from it. He thought it was a routine procedure, but once he saw the grey matter, it became much more complicated. He explained every detail to her, his volume increasing slightly with excitement, "You should have been there..."
"Sounds interesting..." Her response was on instinct. She knew he'd be talking about the surgery until the next big one came along and she'd be filled in on the details more than once.
However, what she truly neglected to get from his elation was how much more he was trying, in his own way, to convey to her.
"There's this other case I've been trying to get, I need your help on it," He said, turning on his side to face her better, "Maybe if you talk to the mom she'll sign off on-
"Hey, Stephen," She mumbled straight into the now shared pillow, "I'm going to go back to sleep now."
Stephen. He  melted at the sentiment of just his name coming from her lips. It   usually bothered him when his title wasn't used and he found joy in   correcting people. However, whenever she called out for him. Dr. Strange. It was always so cold, ironically both clinical and cynical.
"Right, right," He apologized briefly.
He shuffled more in his spot, pressed against her with ease. It was just how she was; always a sense of ease radiating from her. Stephen liked to think she heard him. He could say anything to her. He could just be himself. It all felt easy.
"Your watch is digging into my back," Her voice was still soft as she turned back to him. She pulled at his wrist until his arm was over her, creating more space for the two to be more comfortable squashed in.
The complaint was a disguise to take advantage of his warmth. Stephen   loved when it was cold out because that meant her touches always   lingered. This, though, was entirely different as his arms encased her   completely. It was like she could finally shake off the chill on her   bones.
His frame perfectly covered her, his body looking like the only one in the bed. An outsider would have difficulty seeing her in front of him as she was almost to the wall. It didn't matter if anyone saw them, everyone knew by now they functioned as a unit. If there was one, the other wasn't far behind.
"Did you see the snow out?" He all but mumbled into her shoulder. He knew she wouldn't be asleep for a little while longer, maybe not even at all.
"Mhmm," She nodded, her muscles relaxing into him, "We're supposed to get a few inches tonight."
"Did you get your tree yet?" He added before too much of a pause happened.
"Stephen-
"I know you haven't," He continued his thought, "Let's pick it up tonight before we get snowed in and-
"I'll get it on my day off," She groaned, shifting in his arms to face him. Her eyes were still shut meaning she missed how his eyes were studying her face.
It was a bold move on his part to pull her to him, but he was no sense of shyness in the hold. Neither would admit it, but they missed each other throughout the day.
"Let's just get it tonight," He insisted, wanting an excuse to spend more time with her, "I passed a place today they have those scrawny ones you like-
"You're going to wake up the whole room with all your Christmas spirit," She mused, body turning to face him the conversation pulling her completely from slumber. She didn't mind, too focused on how Stephen's fingers became bold as they trailed rhythmically up and down her spine.
His smile was that of a child, "So is that a yes?
Her lips tugged, "Of course."
---
"Did I lose you?"
"Hmm?" Her eyelids were becoming heavy, but she was in no mood to fall asleep. The relaxation was too good to.
"You're not falling asleep are you?" He quipped. He was starting to feel antsy in his spot, ready to leave the hospital but hanging onto her every word.
"Can't," She started, eye focusing intently on the screen in front of her,  "How will I find out if they get together in the end?"
"Don't be ridiculous, they always get together in the end."
"Always a cynic."
"Oh come on now, don't be upset," He wanted to hear her voice once more before their call ended, "...Look, I'll make it up to you...I can pick up some of those noodles you love-
"With the extra sauce?" She asked, falling for the obvious trap.
It was routine at this point, a good way to debrief from the day. It was easy to be sucked into the hospital 24/7. The late-night food after a grueling shift was always the cure and as Stephen put it doctor recommended.
"With the extra sauce," He promised.
From the moment he left the hospital to the moment he left with the warm meal, he was ecstatic. Stephen chalked it up to hunger and seeking warmth. On his way over it seemed everything reminded him of her from the dainty Christmas trees in the shop windows to the people bundled up with warm drinks, making each step he made more assured than the last.
Once he made it to her door, Stephen balanced the food steadily in one hand while the other felt blindly on top of her door frame until he hit her spare key. Entering her home was always a simple action, a ritual Stephen loved.
Firstly, he'd place the key back in its spot for the next time he'd need to use it. Then, there were the dim lights of her place always on in a way that would lead him down the hall to her room. Her home contrasted his in such a clear way. Everything in her home once belongs to someone else but was put together in a way that was uniquely hers. Each piece in his home was custom made to be only his and he paid generously to make sure. Hers was warm and inviting while his was lavish and desolate.
"Good I made it just in time for the end," His sarcasm was palpable as he push his shoes off one by one while announcing his presence.
"For a second there, I thought you might have gotten lost," She joked, sitting up to accept the warm food he passed to her, "...Thank you."
Mumbling a quick you're welcome, Stephen propped himself up just how he'd found her. What Stephen had really come for was her bed. It was smaller than his, but the memory foam was unmatched. His legs were stretched out in front of him, ankles cross while his hands lay comfortably on his chest. In only a matter of moments, his breathing steadied to that of someone in a deep slumber.
Surgeons liked to think they were invincible, that they could fight sleep better than any other person. However, with the perfect concoction of low lights, a comfortable bed, and a working radiator, sleep became instant and irresistible.
She went to speak to him but closed her mouth once she saw how his head drooped to the side. The entire thing felt out of place, but she wouldn't want it any other way. The two had created a bond that she never thought she'd hold so dearly to her heart. Neither of them was blind to how the other grew fonder by the day. But there was always the doubt of lack of reciprocation or the fear of ruining what had taken time to build.
"You crying?" Stephen mumbled as he adjust his spot by moving on his side, palms together and hands under his cheek as he gave her a once over realizing she actually was.
Her head stayed positioned forward, watching how the two protagonists finally understood the other, "Go back to sleep."
"C'mon now, don't cry," He studied her unable to catch her true feelings. Tears from her, good or bad, held his attention. Stephen moved to her quickly as the laughter started to bubble in his chest, "He gets the girl in the end."
"That's not the point."
They both knew what she was talking about, the setting all too domestic to not. He now used his thumb to catch any remaining stray tears, "I think that's the whole point."
Neither could remember how their faces gravitated towards each other, but it was most likely due to how his thumb was to her lip, an eye trained to where he'd just traced. It was a preface to how their lips connected: quiet and barely there, a tender peck as if to console her, and something innocent.  Then he pecked her once more slightly less tentative and less friendly. It wasn't until the third she melted into his touch, reciprocating the same level if not more emotion.
He used his body weight as leverage as he now was pressed above her. He was warm, filling her senses with his scent as he stared at her ear and nibbled his way down to where her shirt had lifted. He was languid in his movements. Giving her every moment to savor the feeling of holding each other this close.
Stephen leaned back, pulling the hem of his shirt over his  head before tossing it aside, giving her the time to do it for   herself.  The two took their time to be settled between each other until Stephen's hands slid down her now bare stomach. One hand went to  grip  her thigh, while the other sandwiched itself in the space between  her  pelvis and his. His fingertips could already feel the heat  radiating  from her clothed core.
"Your hands are always so cold," He mumbled against her neck, feeling how her hands trailed his chest to get to his sides.
It had almost distracted him from the journey his fingers were on. However,  Stephen's eyes were latched to hers, exploring the interaction in every sense as their lips tangled again. He tapped two fingers against the  soaking fabric, happy with the way it caused her to squirm breathlessly.
He pulled away from her lips, but stayed close,  ghosting his mouth over  hers to say, "Will you let me taste you?"
Her stomach tingled at his bluntness, only fueling his conviction.
She'd never felt like this before.  She didn't  know that she  could feel an ache so deep inside her and be so completely  aware that  the only cure for it is the touch of another person.  A  specific  person. At this moment, she felt like he was her person.
But  before she could  reply with anything, Stephen pushed aside her underwear  and pushed his  fingers as deep as he could. The relief she found was   instantaneous.  A  breathless sigh slipped past her lips as he rubbed   over her folds,  delighted with the fluttering breaths she was letting   out.
Despite the  tension building up in her body, this is the most  relaxed she'd felt in  days. The attention he was paying to her body was  like no other. Stephen knew how her core was soon going to  convulse in the most delightfully  sinful way, making him harder than he'd think was ever possible. He  wanted to feel her completely and   wholly, but he needed to see how he  could make her feel with just his   hands. He wanted a taste, he wanted to  hold, he wanted to suck, he   wanted to bite, he wanted to squeeze, he  wanted to do anything and   everything that had to do with her.
She, though, all she wanted was for Stephen to fill her up so completely that she'd be feeling him for days, "Stephen..."
It  went quick, his movements stopping, leaving her empty, and pulling   back. She worried that it was time to come to their senses, but before   she could finish her thought she could feel Stephen's wet kisses on her   thighs. He was craving her at this point, selfishly not being able to   give her what she was asking for. He kissed the inside of her thigh once   more as he gets settled in  between them pulling her underwear off so   his arms  could hook around both thighs to pull her closer.
Her  hips twitched in the slightest movement, and Stephen's eyes darted up to  hers  for a moment before he dove in. He was teasing her and it was borderline painful the way he slowly kissed every part of  her   that ached for him.
Her lips parted, eyes shutting in pure bliss  as he  got to work, lips closing in on her clit to gently suck. Then,  his still  warm fingers returned to work in and out of her like no  tomorrow, she  was sure to be done in minutes. He continued to skillfully work his  mouth and fingers in her heat as she moaned deeply,  beginning to see  stars and feel warm.
As predicted, it didn't take  long for Stephen to coax  her through and down from a powerful orgasm. He coaxed her through it all from the high and back down, settling his cheek against her thigh in a tender hold as he watched her catch her breath.
Once  it was  still again, Stephen smiled to himself; pleased with her pleasure.  He was  ready to dive in for more, wanting to feel again how her  fingers tugged  his hair tenderly. But she couldn't help but beg him  again, "Stephen, please."
Her wish was his command.  Especially when she  said his name the way she did. Stephen got  pleasure in her  pleasure, so now as her legs were spread wide open just  for him, it was  his absolute bliss.
"Let's just go slow," Stephen managed through a confident breath, regaining his composure. Slow. His voice became lustful with his last word, just how she wanted it to. However, he wasted no time  kicking the  rest of his clothes to the side  so he could drag his tip along her slick core.
He guided himself to spread her open, circling around her clit making her walls flutter as he then pressed further. She could feel how his breath fanned against her neck, causing her to shiver. The feeling heightened when Stephen relaxed completely into her, causing them both to groan at the sensation of how her body instinctively reacted with a soft clench.
The moment  he filled her for the  first time, there was a  feeling of   completeness that  she'd been  missing.  She needed this, she  thought.  She needed to be  stretched,  to be filled. She meant to hold  her in her  mewl, but she  only had so  much control when she was  underneath Stephen.
Yet, Stephen based everything on her as he asked,  "This okay? Do you want me to stop?"
"God, no."
Neither  admitted it to the other, but it had been a long time for both to be in the position with anyone.  Their pleasure was quickly building as Stephen began to push his hips towards her finding the perfect rhythm within a few thrusts.
“Right there, Stephen,” She whispered, “Oh, right there.”
Her  tone's softness  was  making  his head dizzy. She'd only imagined this moment, craving to know how it felt to be with him as closely as they were. The moment finally solidified how the two grew exponentially fond of each other. It made all of her previous experience pale in comparison. She had never moved so in tandem with someone who held nothing but her best interests at heart.
She wanted to stay in the moment forever feeling the way he perfectly dragged through her to only return with such fervor.   However, she could feel his tip  pulsate inside of  her as his thrust became sloppy and his breath low. She couldn't help but repeat his name, again and again, each time her voice sounded desperate. He groaned in response as she felt the hum throughout her entire body, vibrations sent straight to her core.
"Stephen," Her voice an octave higher, her hips eagerly chasing his movements.  His forehead dropped to her shoulder, her name leaving his lips in a heavy breath.
"That’s it," He encouraged on her lips. She wasn't sure she could get anything out but moans much to his pleasure. His thrusts were becoming deeper, never missing that spot that was rarely explored.
Anything out of her mouth resembled a whimper, "You f-feel so good."
Stephen was  trying hard to last as long as he could,  but with one  flex of   her  muscles, he was a moaning mess on top of her as  he  finished inside  of  her. Stephen collapsed on top of her, his heart  pounding out of his chest. He wasn't sure if it was through passion or   embarrassment.
"Sorry I just-
"You're alright," She spoke over his confession with honesty. She loved the   feeling, being able to feel him, and how she now had something of his to hold onto which prompted her to say, "Let's just stay like this for a  moment."

Sleepy Realisations
Summary: Realising that you have a crush on the egotistical Dr. Stephen Strange was not something you were expecting to happen during the middle of your shift. So what’s the best thing to do: ignore him. And it works...well, it works until Stephen corners you.
Pairing: Nurse!Reader x Doctor Stephen Strange
Tumblr media
Being an ER nurse was a rewarding career. You got to meet a wide variety of people and help them with their injuries; whether it be a dislocated finger or a heart attack.
However, something that you absolutely hated about the job was the huge overtime shifts when it got busy. Especially the twelve-hour ones.
Twelve-hour overtime shifts in the ER were not ideal but were sadly a common occurrence in your life. And much to your chagrin, those long shifts left you feeling drained and exhausted by extra hour five.
With five hours remaining, you tiredly walked along the hospital halls, trying to remember where the vending machine with the snacks you like was on this floor.
After hazily stumbling through a multitude of halls--some of which you walked down multiple times--you eventually found the one you were looking for; but much to your disdain, the spectacular Dr. Stephen Strange was currently using it.
The two of you only knew each other through his lovely ex-girlfriend Christine; and your interactions became less frequent because of their split. But even so, the Doctor was always, in some sort of way, on your mind.
“L/n.” Stephen greeted, knocking you out of your thoughts.
You nodded your head, “Strange.”
Tapping your foot on the ground seemed to be the only thing that could keep you awake, something that Strange seemed to notice.
“Are you alright, L/n?”
“‘m fine.” You managed to mumble. Just as you were about to fall against the vending machine, muscular arms wrapped around your waist.
“You’re exhausted. How long have you been working?”
“‘bout 18 hours.”
You heard him mumble something along the lines of, “Of course you have, my selfless idiot,” but, y’know, that could’ve just been your sleep-deprived mind letting you hear the things you wanted to hear.
After all, you were not Stephen’s, and he wasn’t yours. And it didn’t matter how much you craved to be his-wait...what? You wanted to be Stephen’s?
This was not something you could comprehend at this point in time.
Quickly removing yourself from his grip, you stood up, and began walking away.
“L/n, you didn’t get your (favourite snack) from the vending machine!” He called.
You didn’t even attempt to respond; too afraid of what words would fall from your lips if you spoke. You needed to ignore him, and find a way to drown these new feelings.
Too worked up over your new realisation, it didn’t seem to click that he had known what your go-to snack was.
Tumblr media
It was now three hours until you shift finished, and you still couldn’t get Stephen out of your mind.
Sure, you had always found him attractive. Was it his pale blue eyes that you always seemed to get lost in; his sculpted face that made him look like a piece of marble lost from Ancient Greece; his grey streaks that seemed to frame his face perfectly?
How had you not realised your feelings before?
You were brought out of your thoughts by a large thud.
Stephen was on his knees in front of you. “Y/n, I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”
You gulped, and quickly nodded your head. You held your hand out, and helped him up. Your heartbeat quickened; goosebumps loitered across your body due to contact.
Just like before, you quickly let go of him and ran in the opposite direction, leaving a very confused Stephen.
This was not going to go well.
Tumblr media
Finally, your disastrous shift was over, and you were free to go home and sleep. Quickly mumbling a very tired goodbye to Christine and your patient, you headed over to the change rooms.
And seeing your sweatshirt and leggings hanging in your locker was like a gift sent from the Gods themselves.
Sleepily, you managed to remove your blue scrubs and place them in the bio-hazard containment bin. And just as you were about to place your pants on, the door slammed closed, jolting you from your sleepy state.
“Alright, I’ve had it-” He stopped at the sight in front of him.
You squeaked--literally, you squeaked like a mouse. A faint pink hue tinted your cheeks as you thought, this was not how you wanted him to see you practically naked for the first time.
After the moment of shock passed, you covered yourself with your locker door and quickly changed.
“Strange, you are aware that this is the female changing rooms, yes?”
He gulped. “I am. But I have a bone to pick with you, Y/n.”
Oh, the way your name sounded coming from his lips was the best wake-me-up.
“And what is that bone, Doctor?”
“You’ve been ignoring me, and I want to know why.”
Avidly trying to ignore the thoughts flooding your mind about you being naked in front of him, you managed to speak. “Ignoring you...please. I’m not ignoring you.”
He took a step towards you and scoffed. “I find that hard to believe.”
“I’m not ignoring you, Stephen.” You meekly spoke.
He took a step closer. “Don’t lie to me, Y/n. Just tell me why.”
You looked down. “I-I can’t,” You stuttered.
He took one final step closer and lifted your chin. Face to face with the man who you’ve suddenly realised holds you heart, you felt hypnotised.
“You can tell me anything, Y/n.”
And you believed him. So you did. You told him everything; how you value his friendship, how you think he’s a fantastic doctor, how you love him.
Silence filled the room as you both just stared into each other’s eyes. The silence was killing you. It’s foreshadowing his rejection, isn’t it. Trying to think of the words so he can let you down easy.
You gulped. “I understand if you don’t feel the same way, and I don’t want it to ruin our friendship-”
He kissed you with a fervent passion--with a need that you had never felt before. His lips clashed with yours, and you were overwhelmed with his smell. He smelt like safety--he smelt like home.
Pulling away, much to your disappointment, you both caught your breath.
“I love you, Stephen.” He smiled.
“Well, I love you too, Y/n.” Your lips locked again only to be interrupted by a voice.
“It was about time!” Christine’s voice startled you both.
Quickly turning your head, you sheepishly smiled at her. “How long were you standing there for?”
“Long enough,” she smiled. “Now both of you shoo. I’ve got to get changed.”
You smiled at Strange. Maybe sleepy realisations aren’t that bad, after all.

You were feeling a bit strange for a little bit before you suspected you were pregnant.
You called a friend one morning, freaking out about whether or not you were pregnant, and she brought over some tests for you to take. You were happy to find all the tests came back positive. You and Loki had been trying for a while, but you expected it to take a little longer to become pregnant.
When you revealed to him you were pregnant, he raised his eyebrow at you, then asked, “You’re joking, right?” Then quickly laughed and gave you a big hug, pulling you in close and twirling you around in a circle.
“You’ve given me something I wished and dreamed for, for years. Thank you, my love. We’ll take special care of our young one.” He murmured into your ear after he set you down.
He started to appear happier the farther along you were in your pregnancy. He’d always compliment you, give you gifts, and kiss you at random times. He would gaze at your stomach lovingly, and lay kisses on top, whispering sweet promises and lullabies to the baby.
During your delivery, he appeared as calm as ever, but secretly he was freaking out. You insisted on delivering in a hospital setting, and he was so confused about all the doctors and nurses around you. He went pale when he saw one of the tools the doctor was using, and hoped that for your next pregnancy (yes, he very much wanted more children), you would deliver with the help of Asgardian techniques.
It was so shocking to the family when you revealed you had twins, but Loki was smug. He was confident and happy that you two had healthy twins. The boy was named Salem and the girl was named Lilith. Loki and you adored them so much.
He dotted on them so much when they were first born and was the one to catch Lilith accidentally summon a demon. Yes, it was a very weak demon, but it was still very impressive and surprising. Salem soon after froze his crib after having a meltdown. Loki was so delighted in their magic and powers and soon started to document everything they did.
When they started talking, Loki was so excited. He’d talk to them in multiple languages and would smile brightly when one of them repeated his words. Salem was the first to say “Momma, Daddy”, and Lilith soon followed with calling you two, “Mommy, Papa.”
You healed up after the delivery great, and Loki surprised you by introducing some traditions with new moms from Asgard. They were so helpful, and it was a lot different than the techniques from Earth with healing after giving birth. There was a special tea he made for you, enchanted with some magic. It always made you feel more energetic after drinking it, and it helped with sleeping all those odd hours the babies were asleep.
When you were fully healed and ready to get back to doing your normal routine, Loki had come up to you one morning and wrapped his arms around you from behind. You grinned at him as he kissed your cheek.
“Mm, what are your plans for today, honey?” You asked him softly, your voice quiet so the babies could continue sleeping.
He chuckled slightly, “I was wondering if we could have a date night tonight. Maybe we could spend some time in our library, like last time.”
Your eyes shot wide open, and you turned around to face him, “You seriously cannot be saying you want to impregnate me again. So soon? Lilith and Salem haven’t even turned one!”
He pouted playfully, “Aw darling, but I would love to have more children with you. Maybe triplets this time?”
You laughed into his chest, “Maybe in a few years, after we get a hang of this parenting thing, right?”
He nodded thoughtfully, “Agreed.”

Stephen had a feeling something was off when you had come home one day, smiling a bit too often. He didn’t know what was going on though, so he kept extra quiet about it and just observed you to see if he could guess what was going on. When you noticed how quiet he had gotten that night, you pouted at him.
“Stephen, is something wrong?” You asked him somewhat nervously as you unconsciously placed a hand on your stomach.
“I just noticed you’re hiding something. You usually don’t hide things unless it’s a good surprise, so I’m wondering what it is.” He responded, grinning at your shocked expression.
“No fair! I wanted it to be a complete surprise for you tomorrow!” You objected, laughing at how quickly he caught on.
“You can tell me now and we can celebrate tomorrow?” He suggested, still completely wondering what it was that made you act like this.
You smiled brightly and scooted next to him. “I’m pregnant! I think I might be a bit later than I thought, since my stomach has been growing a bit faster than I expected. I took the test this afternoon.” You explained, mumbling, and rambling a bit because you were nervous for his reaction.
He gaped momentarily and then rushed over to you and picked you up and twirled you into a hug. You laughed in surprise at his reaction, not expecting this. He was usually so reserved and quiet about things, mostly reacting with humor!
“Sweetheart.” He murmured to you as he set you back down and pressed his forehead against yours. “I love you so much. You know how much I’ve always wanted children. This is a dream come true.” He whispered.
You smiled at his words, “I love you too, we’re going to be great parents!”
After he scheduled you an appointment with one of his old friends, he started buying so many prenatal vitamins and foods that would support your pregnancy. At the appointment, it was confirmed that you two were going to have twins! At first, he didn’t believe his friend, then looked at the ultrasound machine and saw the two little babies.
The next few weeks, he spent time coddling you and reading up on pregnancies involving twins. He researched so much and practically became an expert about twin pregnancies. He read so many books on parenting and baby proofed everything even though you were only three months pregnant at the time.
By your third trimester, he had everything set up for your due date. He personally vetted everyone who was going to be involved in the birthing process and supported you on your decisions on how you’d like to give birth.
The only things that were left up in the air were the names of the babies. You had been calling them, ankle biter one and two as a joke, and every name you two actually came up with hadn’t been agreed upon. Stephen would randomly speak to your stomach, saying random baby names and then would look up at you, and ask if those names would be good.
One day he came up with the name, Rose, while you were eating some rose ice cream. It was all you wanted to eat for three days, and the entire pregnancy, you had been craving rose flavored foods. Almost immediately after he said the name Rose, you agreed.
“She’s our little Rose, so cute.” You’d say as you’d feel one of the baby’s kick. For the boy, you two finally agreed with the name Philip, and a few hours later, you went into labor.
Stephen was on top of it, fully calm and ready, and supported you the entire time.
A few months later, you two were unconventional parents, amazing, nonetheless. Stephen used magic to parent all the time, and you would always be so surprised at all the magic he did. The best magic he had done during the first few months was to always have a bottle of milk ready to go – it automatically refilled itself.
How he did it? You never found out how, but whenever you asked about it, he would mutter something about arrogant entities.

You were a little nervous and worried when you found out you were pregnant. Bucky had always been a little upset when you’d mention family because he didn’t have any family in today’s world. Technically he only had you as his spouse for family, but you knew he missed his family from years ago.
But you knew you had to tell him, so you grabbed your positive pregnancy tests and walked into the bedroom. “Hey sweetie? Can I talk to you about something?” You spoke up nervously.
Bucky turned around and smiled softly at you. “Of course, you can. Don’t have to ask about it, either.”
You shrugged back sheepishly, “I know that, but this is something kinda serious and we have to talk about it.”
His expression changed to something stormy, and he pressed his lips into a line, “Are you safe? Is someone targeting you?”
“Oh no! Not like that! It’s – I’m, uh, pregnant.” You stumbled over your words and pushed the pregnancy tests in front of you, to show him. He blinked in surprise, his expression going momentarily blank before a happy one replaced it.
“Wait really?” He whispered, walking closer to you, and holding onto your hands. He gazed down at the multiple pregnancy tests you took.
“Mhm, there’s a baby in here I think.” You chuckled nervously and gazed down to your belly. He smiled brightly as he leaned down and kissed your stomach, making all your worries disappear. He murmured a sweet hello to your belly, then got back up and hugged you tightly, causing you to drop the tests to the floor. You laughed in surprise and hugged him back.
When you started going to appointments, Bucky drove you to each of them and attended all of them, holding your hand through exams to make you feel comfortable. It was the second appointment where you two found out you were having twins!
“Oh god! Twins… we need to get a new place. We need to buy two cribs! We have to go get supplies like right now!” Bucky started to ramble, eyes wide at the thought of two kids. You were in shock as well, asking the doctor to check again to make sure. You really didn’t expect to have twins.
Bucky seemed to be extra romantic as you got further along in your pregnancy. You’d notice it in the way he’d always lovingly kiss you longer each day before he went to the compound, and the way he’d come back with gifts for you both to enjoy. He’d light your favorite candles and prep your favorite foods, and at times you’d feel like you could melt in a puddle by the adoration you’d see in his eyes as he’d gaze down at your belly.
You both decided on the names rather early in your pregnancy. Scout was the boy’s name and Melody was the girl’s name. Bucky and you discussed it for about a week, agreeing quickly about the names. He used Steve’s name as Scout’s middle name and his sister, Rebecca, as Melody’s middle name.
When you went into labor, Bucky freaked out a bit and fainted when you squeezed his hand harder than you’ve ever had before. When he came back to, he apologized and put on a tough face and sat by you, supporting you the entire time.
“Look at our babies, sweetheart.” He murmured to you, holding them both in his arms and handing Melody to you. You two cried happily at the sight of both your children.
He sung lullabies to comfort the babies and he’d always be holding at least one of them. Scout was the first to say his first words, which was funnily enough, “No!” and “Momma”, when you served him some broccoli with rice.
Melody quickly said her words a few days after that, when Scout had accidentally bumped his foot into something, “Scout owie”. It was so adorable that you and Bucky had both awed out loud at the sight.
When you and Bucky had alone time, he’d take you out to your favorite date spots. You two spoke about all the memories you shared, and how sweet and special it’s been, having twins together.

Scared | Stephen Strange x Fem!Reader
a/n: i needed a lil bit of angst and also wanted a first-time dad!Stephen fic so... i combined them. here you go 😭
warnings: bit of angst, talks of childbirth (nothing explicit), anxiety
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The hours seemed to tick on forever. Another few nerve-stricken paces and Stephen Strange was positive he’d burn a hole into the linoleum floors.
As a surgeon, he had never been nervous performing a procedure. He was the greatest neurosurgeon out there and no one could take away his title. His calm reserve, his steady hand. He was quintessentially perfect. Anxiety didn’t grip him in its vice.
Until the accident. He finally was made aware of his emotions and how delicate he truly could become. He discovered his unwavering ability to exhaust emotion; tears, sadness, happiness, love. It all came like a tidal wave upon his metaphorical shoreline when you happened. When you walked into his life, he discovered that he could feel all of those emotions, sometimes all at once. But fear was the least felt.
Until today. Today he felt fear. He never wanted to experience such a cruel emotion but as he watched you writhe in pain and cry for him to make it stop while knowing this was one problem he couldn’t solve with the wave of his hand, that nature must take its course, he grew scared. He had been waiting for this moment ever since those two lines appeared on the pregnancy test, after the initial shock of oh wow, I’m going to be a dad after not wanting kids, and today in the delivery room, mournful that he couldn’t be more for you than just a hand to squeeze and a shoulder to cry on… and bite. He wasn’t expecting teeth marks on his skin today, but he’d let you do it a million times over if it meant he could get you through this.
“You’re doing so good, baby. I promise. It’s almost over.” he had encouraged you with both hands clasped through yours, his body leaning over the edge of the bed as you worked through every single ache and pain. You held him like a vice until you were dizzy, his voice the only thing holding you to the bed. You blocked out the voices of the doctors, nurses, you only desired Stephen’s encouragement through such a trauma as this.
And when the pain ceased and you felt a sudden emotion of emptiness, the one thing that only you had held on the inside for nine months was extracted from your being, you felt numb.
Stephen held you tightly, awaiting that glorious sound all parents mewled about. His hands were trembling in yours as he waited, and waited, and waited.
“Come on, sweetheart. Cry.” Stephen whispers to a little girl who couldn’t hear him. “What’s going on?” he demands, using the voice he reserved for the operating room.
He hears the doctor and nurse's correspondence.
“Fluid in the lungs” - “Can’t breathe” - “Lips are blue”.
Quickly, his mind whirred and he knew what was happening. His baby girl had entered the world essentially lifeless. He turns to you, feeling as you force yourself up in the hospital bed by way of his arm. You clutch his forearm in a death grip despite your strength having been drained, the wave of adrenaline pulsing through your veins as you struggle to overhear.
“What is going ON?!” you scream at the top of your lungs, pain surging throughout your limbs. You were a brand new mother who hadn’t got to see your daughter’s face and more importantly hear her cry.
“Honey, I need you to lie back down,” Stephanie coaxes, kissing your forehead that was slick with sweat. You look up at your husband whose eyes are fixated on you. “Take some breaths for me, alright?” He knows you’re on the verge of panic so he quickly reaches above the hospital bed to grab the oxygen mask.
“Stephen!” you exclaim, lungs aching. He shushes you and closes his hands around yours. He wouldn’t dare let his resolve down, not now. You needed him more than ever and he couldn’t let you see him fall apart, even though he wanted to bombard those working on his baby and the cause.
“She’s going to be okay. We’ve got to let them look at her.” He smothers his face against your hair, reaches up, and strokes your scalp, “That’s my girl, nice deep breaths. I need you to stay calm for her. Can you do that for our little girl, sweetheart?”
You nod your head. Your ears were ringing so loud after she came out that you didn’t overhear what Stephen did.
“I-I’m scared,” you blubber.
Stephen can feel tears pricking the corners of his eyes. I am too, baby. I am too he thinks to himself.
“There’s no need to be scared. I’ll be scared for us both.” Stephen kisses your temple before moving to your lips, tasting the saltwater tears that had fallen to your mouth.
Tumblr media
That was hours ago. Stephen continued to pace the floors. The last he heard was that his daughter was being taken to the NICU for further observation and to be stabilized. Fortunately, Christine had stopped by a few times to check in. She of course had no updates for the two of you, but she was there as a means of emotional support. Each time she snuck in quietly, she’d find a pacing Stephen who she only sighed at.
“Have you sat down?” Christine whispered, seeing as you were finally asleep. Stephen shakes his head as Christine grabs his hand, forcing him to stop. “Stephen. You need to sit.” she leads him to the chair but he shakes his head.
“No, Christine, I need–,”
“To be a supportive husband and great father. You can’t do that when youre footprints are embedded into the floor.” she chuckles quietly but turns serious upon seeing his wary expression. She licks her lips and sighs. “If that little girl is anything like you? She won’t give up. She’ll be a fighter. But she needs a father who can remain strong for her… You can’t stay strong if you’re exhausting yourself. The same goes for her,” Christine looks over at you. “She needs you to lean against during this which means she needs you relaxed and alert. But pacing won’t do anything.”
Stephen draws in a sharp breath and finally takes a seat upon Christine’s pushing of his shoulders. She smiles at him and pats his shoulder.
“Everything’s going to be okay, Stephen.”
He sure hoped so. “Thank you,” he nods his head, appreciative of her friendship despite their past. He squeezes her hand just before she removes it from his shoulder.
“Try and squeeze in a cat nap. You’ll feel better.”
He chuckles, knowing sleep was out of the question entirely. But rather than arguing with her, he nods his head in agreement. When Christine left and Stephen was left alone with his thoughts, he closed his eyes and tried to imagine him finally holding his daughter, and how relief would wash over him the moment he could see her. That’s how he managed to close his eyes and relax. He did it for his two girls. You and that precious little one fighting upstairs.
An hour or so later, when the door to your room opened, Stephen’s eyes bolted open and he was up on his feet in seconds. The woman who delivered your daughter enters the room, pushing a tiny glass cart. Stephen’s heart thudded wildly in his chest, realization washing over him at just who this sweet little visitor could be.
“Hi, Dad,” the doctor whispers.
Stephen gasped quietly at the sight, that relief he clung to after Christine left washing over him. “How is she?” he asks.
“She scared us there for a little while.. she came so fast that she swallowed some fluid on the way out, but she’s perfectly healthy. I didn’t want to wake Mom up. I know she’s been anxious, but would you like to hold your little girl?”
Stephen felt a rush of emotion. He never wanted kids. He thought they were irritabilities, tiny humans who would annoy him forever. He was one of those people who when the kid ran around the dinner table in a restaurant after being told to stop, would smirk when they finally smacked their forehead against the surface. Christine normally always kicked him in the shin under the table and then you started doing it when you began dating. But that all changed the morning you approached him with trembling hands and a positive pregnancy test.
“Yes, please,” Stephen whispers, looking over at you. He was grateful you had finally succumbed to the clutches of sleep. He wasn’t sure how much longer you could keep going, as you were nearing 48 hours of no sleep at all.
The doctor smiles and motions him to sit in the chair beside your bed. She rolls the glass cart over to him and looks down at the sleeping bundle. “She didn’t get to have skin-to-skin with Y/N so would you like to do that? She can do it also when she wakes up, but we find that skin-to-skin holds many benefits.”
Stephen nods his head as the doctor lists the positives such as bonding, regulation of body temperature, and heart rate, among others, tears burning the corners of his eyes. He quickly unbuttons his shirt and pulls it open, his heart racing even faster when the doctor carefully picks up his daughter and leads her to his chest. She rests the baby on top of him and immediately, Stephen feels like a brand new man. The softness and warmth of her skin against his made his serotonin level skyrocket and caused more tears to freely fall.
“Congratulations, Dad,” she whispers in the dimly lit room. “We just fed her in the nursery but when Mama wakes up, we’ll let her try feeding her. Call if you need anything,”
Stephen nods his head and watches the doctor leave, gently closing the door behind her. He looks down at the new life snuggled against him. Her eyes peel open, naturally blue irises glassy as she moves her lips. Stephen could already see you within her. Her sweet little nose, the curl of her lips. He took a small peek under the hat, the tiniest wisps of brown hair visible, sending the new father into a chokehold.
“Oh, my darling girl,” Stephen coos. “You gave Mommy and I quite the scare today… Yes, you did. But I’m so glad you’re here. Do you know who I am? You’ve heard my voice every single day… Whether I was telling you and Mommy how much I love you or bickering with Wong. You’ve heard it. I’m your Daddy,” the words fall like water from his mouth and his chest tightens as he dubs himself with the title. Daddy. He’s a father.
The baby girl gently closes her eyes, lips smacking as she remains rested on his chest. Stephen ran his fingertip up and down her spine, bewildered by how soft she was. He glances over at your sleeping form. He smiles, being the proudest he’s ever been since the day he proposed and the day he wed you. He had you to thank for all of this. His little family. The only family he’s known other than those he’s encountered on his journey.
“My sweet Tessa… Yes, you’re my special girl, aren’t you? I promise. I may not do everything right in life but I’ll do right by you. Thank you for changing my life,” the tears flow without warning as Stephen presses his quivering lips to the side of her head, squeezing his lids shut as he snuggles her closer. You stir gently and awake to the sight of your husband holding your newborn, your heart fluttering.
“She’s okay?” You ask hoarsely.
Stephen’s head lifts at the noise and a smile of relief greets his face. He looked exhausted and you felt bad that he hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep except for his small power nap. He wouldn’t dare miss out on anything.
“She’s perfect, sweetheart. You did it.”
The look of utter pride glows on his face. You feel your lungs refill with fresh air as you wince, moving to sit up gently. “Can I?”
Stephen chuckles quietly. “How could you ask me something like that? Of course, you can. Tessa, let’s meet your beautiful Mommy, yeah? I know, I know,” he shushes her as she starts to pout her lips, a pitiful cry on the verge of slipping. Your body felt like electricity had just been shot throughout it, the excitement bubbling.
“Here, let’s unbutton this,” Stephen holds Tessa in one arm while he helps you unbutton your hospital gown. Once your chest is exposed, Stephen places Tessa on you and you fall apart the moment you touch her. Your lips quiver and the tears spill.
“Oh my God,” you whisper, kissing her. You drew in a deep breath, Tessa’s scent making you cry even more. Stephen slips into bed beside you and carefully puts one arm around you while holding his other hand over yours that’s currently on Tessa. “S-she’s perfect,” you cry.
Stephen wipes his eyes through a sniffle.
“She is,” he can’t help but agree. “I’ve never seen someone so little,”
You giggle softly, kissing her head as you lean into your husband’s chest. “We’re parents, Stephen. We have a daughter.”
He smirks, his eyes resting on you. He leans in and kisses your lips tenderly, savoring the taste. As he pulls away, both of you turn your attention down to your newest addition, your hearts soaring over the moon.

he’s got that fire
Tumblr media
doctor strange x reader
synopsis: you have an unusual relationship with your mentor/boss, and when he asks you to be his date to an important awards ceremony, you can’t help but relish in his fire
a/n: stephen strange is so lana del rey coded omff, so heavy sad girl vibes. i haven’t proofread and it’s longer than any of my usual works i think.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
he always told you how much of a gift it was for him to choose you. it was always like that, he chose you, like some god. that he had made your life better by choosing to be in it. he repeated that to you whenever you became ‘insubordinate’.
you never really argued though. you knew that it wasn’t ever the right thing to do, especially with someone so arrogant, you’d be wasting a breath and your career if you did so.
but you learned to live with his narcissism, he was the best surgeon in new york, and arguably in the states. his credentials are why you’ve never argued back.
this day was not any different.
“i said that we should do the shunt.” stephen stared at the films. he was cross, had been since the morning and was now profoundly irritated but hadn’t stated why.
“you’ll kill him. think about it, what if we do another approach in a few days? give him enough recovery time so that when you actually do the surgery, he won’t die on the table.” you explained your decision, but stephen had already stopped listening. he was shaking his head, clearly none of this was going as he wanted.
“stephen-“ you closed your eyes, already preparing to apologize for undermining him, when he shushed you. “i-“ you scoffed but didn’t say anything else.
“we’ll do it tomorrow. it’ll be the first surgery of the day, i want it to go well.” he recycled your idea, and turned around with a nod, “get me dr. palmer. i want her to be in there.” he demanded.
you looked up from your notepad and raised your eyebrows, “you don’t want me in there?” you were his student, his resident, you were assigned to scrub in on all his surgeries-
“no. i want dr. palmer. that is final.” he stalked over to the door, pulling it open and letting it shut behind him without another word.
you couldn’t lie and say you were disappointed. you had hoped that after last night, that you and stephen had finally come to an understanding. but this had just proved that he wasn’t capable of listening. and that he was still hopelessly in love with christine.
“dr. l/n.” a nurse had stopped you as you walked around, moping about stephen kicking you off the surgery. she handed you some papers, “dr. strange has requested you in his office. and he needs to sign these papers for the patient in 203.” she smiled thinly, clearly making you do part of her job.
you shoved the papers back, and stalked off.
you had swiped a salad on your way to his office. you had learned from the first few times that stephen requesting you in his office was like attending a lecture, all about him. and you wouldn’t starve if you were going to be stuck there.
you knocked on the door once before pushing it open. stephen was sitting at his desk, an untouched piece of salmon and greens was in front of him. he didn’t even look up when you walked in.
“what’s up?” you set your salad down, including some of your patient files. you took the chair opposite of his, and cracked open your salad.
“i hate it when you speak like that.” his eyes remained glued to his computer screen.
you looked up, rolling your eyes, “one of the nurses said you requested me? might i inquire why or are we just going to stare at each other and pretend like last night didn’t happen?” you were angry.
he could tell.
your voice shook with a twinge of rage that only he could be the reason behind. it was always the same twinge, it was the same twinge earlier when he had requested christine for the surgery.
his eyes broke away from the screen for the first time since you had walked in. he stared at you, as if trying to calculate this moment in his head. he paused, silence taking the both of you as he stared into your eyes.
“i- i didn’t want to have to do this-“ stephen sighed, “we’re at work. when we’re working, i’m your boss, you are my resident. we can talk about us, later.” he sounded so professional that if you didn’t know him so well, you’d probably throw yourself on the floor and beg for forgiveness.
“just tell me why you picked her over me. that’s all i want to know.” you challenged, your eyes boring into his.
stephen scoffed, “i chose dr. palmer because she is a more experienced surgeon than you. you would just-“
“fuck it up?” you finished his sentence and rolled your eyes, “if you don’t have faith in me than that is a reflection on your abilities as a teacher, as my mentor.”
“no it is not. because if you actually did what you were told, you would be on your way to making an incredible surgeon. but you aren’t. you’d be mediocre at best.” his words cut hard. he hadn’t blinked, and you didn’t dare to look away.
it was weakness to look away. you had to be able to continue to stare him down, if he was going to listen to you.
“i do exactly as i am told. last night was the perfect example of that, wasn’t it, doctor?” you raised your eyebrows and incredibly, stephen broke the eye contact.
“get out.” he returned his gaze to the computer screen and you were taken aback.
“what-“
“i said get out. get your shit, and get the fuck out of my office.” stephen didn’t hesitate to yell at you, which made you want to cringe.
you stood up, sighing as you collected your things, you had almost made it out when you stopped, hand lingering on the doorknob, “this is why christine left you. you’re a fucking asshole, and no one will ever love you.” he had turned, but you had already left before he could yell anymore.
you knew you shouldn’t have slept with your boss. clearly, as you sat at home instead of scrubbing in on a surgery, that it wasn’t working out well.
you had left the hospital after your little outburst with stephen. your pager kept going off, but you had ignored it since they were all from, unsurprisingly, stephen. you tossed and turned in your bed, not having the energy to do anything else.
he had ruined you. he had ruined you from the moment you had entered the program.
but yesterday, he had really ruined you. he ruined whatever perfect balance the two of you had. you knew him, and he knew you, but now you were too involved, too emotionally attached.
you couldn’t even curb your jealously. it wasn’t about your abilities or her abilities, it was the fact that he wanted his ex-girlfriend to scrub in with him, and not you.
stephen stared at the wall. he had been staring at it since you left. assumingely, you had gone home. all of his pages went unanswered, and he knew that he had really, really fucked up.
there was a knock at the door and stephen turned, “come in.” he had hoped it was you, but he never had to welcome you in. you’d always just waltz in, carrying food and random case notes.
“i’ve been looking for your resident all day. i heard she’s the expert on the case?” dr. palmer had graced his office for the first time in a long time. stephen didn’t have the best poker face when it came to surprises, and he couldn’t hide this one.
“uh-“ he laughed slightly, blinking as he focused on her, “yeah she wasn’t feeling well today. she might’ve gone home but the case is at the nurses station.” he didn’t smile, he never did at her anymore.
christine nodded, “hey, stephen.. why did you ask me to scrub in with you? if you already have a perfectly capable resident-“
stephen shook his head, “i- i just wanted you there. i don’t know why- but,” he shrugged, “i cant trust residents, can i?”
christine laughed awkwardly, her attempt at trying to get out of this was already shot to the ground, so she just exited.
you wanted to quit. you had spent all night practicing how you’d do it. you were going to go to his office, set the resignation letter down on his desk and walk out without saying anything.
but you couldn’t even gather the courage to print your letter out. you had left the paper jammed in your printer, half inked, as you left to go to work.
“good morning.” stephen greeted you at the nurses station. it was time for the early mornings rounds. you nodded, but didn’t say anything as you walked off.
stephen chose to ignore the fact that you ignored him, and walked after you, “i am going to need any and all case notes on that patient today.”
you scoffed, “why? you never read any of my notes.” which was true. he always thought your notes were just annoying little scribbles.
“they’re for dr. palmer. she requested that she get any notes relevant to the surgery today.” he responded.
“oh, okay. i’ll drop it off at your office along with all the respect i have for you.” and you turned a corner, leaving him in the dust for rounds.
you were sitting in the cafeteria, head in your hands over your tray of food, you hadn’t even noticed the people gathering around your table.
“dude- long time no see.” you looked up to see one of your old friends that you had met during your internship, thalia. before all of this, before him.
you smiled, a real one in a long time, “we’re residents. we’re lucky if we even have clean underwear.” you joked. she smiled, “i heard you’ve been working closely with dr. strange. how is it? he’s got the hands of a god, you know.”
you blinked, almost happy to be able to get through a conversation that wasn’t plagued by stephen strange.
you blinked, hesitating with your words until it all came spilling out. “we slept together. multiple times.”
thalia’s jaw fell, practically hit the floor as she stared at you in disbelief.
“and we’re fighting right now so i’d really love it if we could just move on-“
“dr. l/n.” you turned at the sound of that voice, abruptly ending your conversation with your friend, you couldn’t hide the shock on your face to see stephen standing in front of you.
he never came to the cafeteria. he was always too good for it, and it was evident that even just his presence was shocking enough. all other conversations seemed to quiet down to complete silence.
“stephen-“
“you’re scrubbing in. dr. palmer has another surgery that will run late so-“
you nodded, “understood.”
your unwillingness to say anything more was evident, and stephen would not open that can of shit right in the middle of the cafeteria for all the underachievers to hear.
he nodded, leaving as quickly as he came.
you stared at his hands moving gracefully in the patient. he was a god, it was clear in his work, that’s why he was the way he was.
“suction.” you immediately brought down the tube in your hands, sucking at whatever he pointed at.
his glove caught on the tube, the air trying to suck up his finger. he pulled back, just as you pulled the tube away.
“oh my go-“ you stared at the tube, and turned back to stephen. he raised his eyebrows just as you dipped your head back to laugh.
stephen looked around at the rest of the staff but didn’t say anything as you finished laughing by yourself.
you let out a sigh, your laugh turned into a quiet chuckle, even as you met his eyes, you still couldn’t stifle it.
“i’m sorry.” you apologized, “that was unprofessional and it won’t happen again.” you blinked, head bowed as you waited.
but stephen didn’t say anything, he looked up to stare at you once before going back to work.
stephen asked you to meet him in his office after the surgery. you had to practically throw yourself up each step to get to his office, exhaustion weighing heavy on your bones.
you didn’t even bother to knock this time, you just pushed the door open and dragged yourself in. stephen was sitting at his desk, but he had the case files in his hands.
he looked up once he saw you, and you took a seat across his desk. “you wanted to see me?”
stephen nodded, throwing down the case files, “this is good stuff.”
you blinked. hardly did stephen ever freely give compliments. you had thought you were the worst resident until he had called you “okay” once during an assistive surgery. another surgeon had said that meant you were good.
clearly stephen knew what you were thinking, and he grimaced, “christine suggested i read them.” you hummed in acknowledgment, “and she also told me to apologize.”
you looked at him expectantly, eyebrows raised.
“i am sorry for not calling you, or texting you after..” he mumbled off, “and im sorry for kicking you out of my office, it was rude and i am so-“ he faltered and you sighed, standing up.
he watched as you strode over to his side of the desk, hips swaying in your tight scrub pants. your hand gripped the leather of his desk chair, pulling it back as you positioned yourself on his lap.
stephen watched you carefully, watched as you dragged a finger across his cheek, smiling coyly, “i accept your apology, stephen.” you hummed again, “and i am sorry for what i said.”
stephen held your hips, his large hands tightening around them so you wouldn’t fall. “it’s okay. it’s okay.” he assured you, hands moving to caress your neck, he planted a kiss on your collarbone, just underneath your scrub top.
you shivered at the contact, but you were eager for more. stephen was hardly affectionate, especially at work. it made you wonder how it all even happened in the first place, as he was always so clipped with you.
stephen kissed your neck, sucking hard on the skin that you were sure they’d bruise.
“come away with me.” he whispered, “put on a slutty little dress and come away with me tonight.” he gripped hard on your hips, and you laughed, “what? where?” you were surprised he hadn’t mentioned anything about a trip to you.
“i was nominated for an award in california. the ceremony is tonight and i was hoping that you would accompany me.” he didn’t smile, but there was a hint of one.
“publicly?” you drew your brows together, hand on his shoulder as you looked into his eyes.
“well- people would only assume that we work together. but yes, publicly.” he nodded, and you felt your stomach drop to your ass.
“uh-“ you scoffed, “yeah. sure, i’ll go.” you couldn’t hide your hesitation. the last person that stephen ‘worked’ with was christine, and people would notice.
stephen nodded, “okay. i’ll see you tonight, kid.” his lips brushed past yours as he planted a kiss on your cheek. “tease.” you commented, gripping his shoulder as you hopped off his lap.
“i’m the tease?” he grabbed your wrist and you looked at the tent in his pants. a laugh escaped you, even as you strutted out of his office.
waiting was unbearable. you found yourself glancing over to the clock hoping hours would roll by until it finally did, and you were gathering your things to head home and prepare.
stephen said that he had arranged a private flight to california, and that he and a driver would be at your apartment by 8.
“are you out of here?” thalia, standing at the end of the hallway, broke you out of your thoughts, “i heard you’re going with strange to that ceremony?” you nodded, as you met her at the end, you couldn’t hide your smile.
she nudged you, smiling, “aw im so happy for you. especially after we all thought dr. palmer would go with him.”
your smile fell immediately and you stepped back, “what? why would you think that?”
thalia shrugged, “because he asked her. i heard them in the attendings lounge, when i had gone to find my-“ she continued to ramble on but you had stopped listening. you walked past her and slammed the double doors open. she called your name, but you were already in the wind.
all you could do was practically run out of the hospital, dashing past the front desk and out the doors. you panted, feeling the ache of a sob in your chest. you walked now, breaking down in tears on the way to your car.
how could he have asked her, before he asked you?
you realized you couldn’t go home now. stephen would be there soon to pick you up, to take you to an event that you weren’t supposed to be at.
stephen paced the apartment lobby. your doorman said that he hadn’t seen you since the previous morning. your car hadn’t been parked in its designated spot either, evident of your absence.
“fuck..” stephen muttered, his fingers breezing on the screen as he tried to call you. thing was, you always called him, never the other way around so he couldn’t remember the numbers to even dial.
he scrolled through his call list but it was a sea of unknown numbers, and stephen didn’t remember the last time you called.
stephen walked back up to the doorman, “can i go look in her apartment?” the doorman raised his eyebrows and stephen sighed, “i’m her bo-“ he paused, unsure of what to call himself, he grimaced, “i am her colleague. i just-“
the doorman nodded, there was a look on his face as he looked at stephen up and down, “yeah..i know who you are.” as he spoke stephen realized that it was disdain that this doorman held for him.
but as the doorman let stephen up, he didn’t even care how you talked about him, it was that you talked about him at all.
the apartment was messy. of course it was. you were a fifth year resident who clocked in more hours at the hospital than all the combined time spent at home. but it wasn’t dirty messy, it was a barely moved in, hadn’t had time to unpack messy. the stack of broken down boxes in the corner was evident. he pursed his lips at the sight, but continued in.
your bedroom was close, he could see the edge of a mattress through a cracked door. it was barren, besides the bed and dresser, it was filled with packing peanuts and a box of hospital scrubs. he hummed, stepping out and deciding to check out the next room.
he pushed the door open, revealing a very organized office space. there was a long desk along the wall, a chalk board took up the entirety of another wall, medical scrawl was all over it. pictures of anatomy were hung up, including unknown jars of specimen.
stephen was more than intrigued, he was impressed. the rest of your apartment was messy, barely lived in, but your work was your life, and your office was clear of that.
he trailed towards the desk, a dim light shone from your desktop, and he nudged the computer mouse to turn it on.
dear stephen,
i am writing to formally tender my resignation as a fifth year resident under your tutelage…
there was a mix of worry in his mind that he hadn’t felt in a long time. the rest of the letter was just professional bullshit on your decision to leave him. you weren’t leaving the hospital, you were leaving him.
but he had to get the truth.
it had been hours since the award ceremony. hours since it would’ve started at least, looking at the clock, you knew that it was time to return home.
stephen probably didn’t even make it to your house, since you hadn’t received a single call. the area you had gone to, outside of the city, still got decent cell service, so you knew he didn’t even try.
you no longer felt the rage of being overlooked in your career and in your relationship, all you felt was the regret of believing him. you tightly gripped your steering wheel, and silently drove back home.
stephen waited silently. he had looked through your pantry, trying to find something to snack on until your arrival; he knew he’d be there all night.
but didn’t take anything, deciding that he wasn’t even hungry, just restless and angry, and as soon as he heard keys jingle at the door, he stood up.
“stephen.” you were breathless, your hand was clutching hard on your doorknob as your bag hit the floor. it landed upright, but you pushed it to the side with your foot. stephen didn’t move, watching as you cautiously stepped forward.
“what- what are you doing here?” you swallowed thickly, hands feeling clammy against the rough fabric of your hospital scrubs. you looked at him up and down, eyes lingering on his sharp suit, hands positioned at his side. “i’ve been waiting for you.”
you nodded, “i’m sorry if you missed the award-“ you felt your voice shake, afraid of how this confrontation would proceed. you kept your eyes glued to the floor, afraid to look again into his striking face.
“you think this is about that?” he scoffed incredulously, his eyes narrowing at you. you could just feel the edge in his voice, it was the same edge that had haunted you nearly all of your residency.
he took your silence for shame, and continued, “i found your letter. when were you planning to hand it in? hmm? after you assisted on a major surgery or after i was presented with an award with you by my side-“ it was your turn to scoff. you looked up, walking towards him at a speed that had you now nose to nose.
“you think that i’m proud of being second choice?” your voice broke, and you sighed, knowing just exactly how this would end. stephen’s face fell, and he looked speechless at your emotion.
you inhaled a breath, trying to calm yourself down as you fought to say your piece. “i- i had to hear from thalia, of all people, that you had originally asked christine to be your date tonight.” you felt a tear fall down your cheek, “you come in here, into my apartment, look through my things and accuse me of what? riding your success?” you spat, your voice still wavered, but you carried on, “i’ve had to be second to the greatest love of your life. and i will not continue to be.” you sniffled, looking at stephen right in the eye, “i quit. i don’t ever want to see you or that fucking hospital again.”
stephen was absolutely wordless. he didn’t even know what to do with it, and as he watched you strut down the hallway to your bedroom, he found himself following you.
you sniffled, and noticed he was right on your trail, “get out, stephen. get-“
he stayed firmly planted, and instead raised his eyebrows, “christine is not the greatest love of my life- i thought she was.” you rolled your eyes, not wanting to hear his speech, “until i met you. and i’ve been selfish. i’ve been keeping you from your potential. so you should quit, be a better surgeon under someone who-“ he faltered, and his features softened, “who doesn’t love you.”
you felt your face get hot as you tried to speak. stephen strange just told you he loved you…
“it’s okay.” he stepped forward and you found yourself stepping into his embrace. he kissed your forehead, “it’s okay.” he repeated, assuring that it in fact, was okay.
as bittersweet the moment was, you had to release all of the truth, even if you knew it would only hurt him more.
“i love you, too.” you whispered, hands gathering up his suit fabric, gripping it tightly you didn’t want to let go. but he didn’t say anything, the two of you continued to hug until you practically fell asleep in his arms.

‘Disrespect’
Surgeon! Strange x fem! reader
- i got a request for this and oh my lord, writing this honestly had me in a state of disbelief. i think i kind of got carried away but fuck it we ball. i <3 dom Stephen sm xx
Tumblr media
You often had to remind yourself that Dr Strange simply doesn't function like other people.
Working with him was never ideal, especially in a busy hospital with little to no time to do anything, it did give you the opportunity to idle at how ingeniously he worked. Stephen was exceptionally skilled and he was also exceptionally arrogant; his need to prove he's the smartest man in the room by any means possible provoked you, sometimes you thought he did it on purpose to annoy you specifically. Getting a doctorate didn't make him God's righteous man, most of the time you wanted to curbstomp his stupidly perfect teeth in. Deceit and hubris was always plastered on his face and even with that million dollar smile that women fawned over, you could see right through him. What made everything ten times worst is that after a particularly gruelling night shift, it was only you and him left to clean up the operating theatre.
It felt like the universe was just fucking with you today.
Stuck cleaning up the mess Stephen made with him alone only made you reflect upon why he was hellbent on being an asshole to everybody. And why he had to be attractive whilst doing so. It was easy to see he was attractive but so hard for you to actually admit it. He had all the physical attributes that made you drool but his personality was as appealing to you as shit under your shoe. Stephen found his way to prominence not by just being an incredible neurosurgeon but by fucking through the entire staff; all the nurses found themselves bending over backwards to impress him but he just dismissed them, you honestly couldn't believe the gall he had- it was inhuman.
Now all you could do was survey him silently and not acknowledge him at all.
Stephen was having trouble even making eye contact with you today, the thought made him chuckle inwardly. Normally, you'd gawk at him stupidly when you believed he wasn't looking but he felt your eyes burn into his skull- he couldn't help but consider the possibility that you weren't death staring him but actually...eyefucking him. Stephen basked in the feeling, his confidence doubled tenfold usually but today you were deliberately ignoring him. He couldn't have that. Not since you were the most gorgeous distraction he's ever had. He just kept thinking of you when he wasn't supposed to and Stephen wanted to act on his primitive urges.
‘’You're being unusually untalkative.’’ Stephen remarked as you were both washing your hands in the sink, almost as if to clean yourself of this stupid day. ‘’Who pissed in your cereal?’’ He quirked an eyebrow at you, gazing at you through the mirror.
‘’Maybe I just don't fucking like you.’’ You gave him a dazzling, chilly 'fuck off' smile alongside your unwelcome glare. Stephen loved it- your persistent need to shrug him aside, it was a taste of his own medicine.
‘’Don't lie. It doesn't suit a woman like you.’’
‘’Like me?’’ Your tone filled with offence and displeasure as your eyes narrowed. Who the fuck did he think he was to evaluate you? It annoyed you to a senseless degree.
‘’You're too pretty to lie. Stop lying to yourself, you do like me. And you hate it.’’ Stephen stared at you directly as he dried his hands off, his expression certain and his smile sly.
Stephen knew you got him in a 'gotcha' moment. Your face was vacant, eyes gleaming wide and doe alongside an agape mouth and creased eyebrows. He smirked at you like a stupid all American textbook jock as if he could see right through you and all your innermost thoughts. You resumed your movements and gathered your loose hair and tied it into a ponytail and connected gazes daren't oscillate. Stephen loved watching you work and going about doing your own thing, he liked that you thawed when you gave him a sweet smile.
‘’Where would you get that impression that I do infact tolerate you, Doctor?’’ You couldn't help but flirt with him, not when he was being so brazen and saying exactly what was on his mind- you could do the exact same.
He took a beat to study you and look at you in this resolve. Beautiful. Charming. Saccharine.
Stephen cocked his head, thinned his eyes and simply said: ‘’Intuition?’’
‘’Don't lie. It doesn't suit a man like you.’’ You repeated his prior statement with a small smirk and knowing character.
Stephen let out a breathless scoff at your purpose. You were enjoying yourself completely and he had this overwhelming surge to just...bend you over the operating table. The idea was completely out of it but you were making him feel this new sensation: it was thrilling and completely new. New and shiny. Stephen stalked towards you in slow steps and he reached his hand and out and pulled on your ponytail. He was pleased with the small gasp you let out.
‘’I like this. You should wear it up more often.’’ He mumbled thickly, eyes heavy and half lidded as he stared down at you.
‘’Mmm...I don't know... you seem awfully inattentive, Doctor.’’ You hummed as Stephen was drawing closer to you, lulling your head back slightly and crooning in warm pleasure. You were clearly amused.
‘’Baby, I'm very detail oriented. Don't question my awareness.’’ Stephen scolded at you and if you were being honest, it aroused the everloving God out of you. In this context, you'd allow yourself a brief moment of liberty to succumb to his...charms.
The way he called you baby made you feel wobbly. Baby. Mmm...hearing him say that to you made you bite your lip in anticipation. This cruel frustration was certainly making you feel flustered and he was pleased to see such a scene. He was so happy. So damn happy he got you in such a state. Him? Making you blush? You? Of all people?
‘’Awareness my ass.’’ You chuckled as you peered up at him flirtatiously, a cute little smile playing at your lips too. Oh, so you can be fun. Stephen just scoffed at your determinted nature. ‘’But for the sake of pettiness and my spiral into insanity, if you are so aware...tell me what makes you aware of me?’’ You couldn't help but provoke him further, allowing yourself the selfishness of prying into his head to see how he actually views you. If he actually wanted you like that.
‘’Eyes.’’ Stephen mumbled under his breath, pupils darting elsewhere as if he didn't want you to actually hear the words that came out of his mouth but you were attentive, you obviously did. For fucks sake, he's deciding to get shy now? That's new.
‘’Eyes? That's rich considering you undress me with yours.’’ You challenged him.
‘’As always, you see right through me.’’ Stephen didn't say it in a way that was sarcastic or certain, it was strange...like him. He latched onto your waist, large hand pinching you while the other was still yanking on your ponytail. Your gasp was palpable, your breath warm.
What made you even more excited was that someone could walk in on you at any moment. It was so naughty.
‘’You're detrimental Stephen.’’ You said with lust in your eyes and Stephen didn't really take the time to listen to your words when his mouth was already plastered against yours.
Mhmm... his lips were nice but you knew he was dangerous, he had such a special ability to make every single woman weak in the knees but you were more durable than he initially thought. Stephen was incredibly eager, lips tasting at yours like he was starved of a proper meal, well, he had been eyeing you like you were a full course meal all day- it was only fitting. This whole ordeal was entirely unprofessional but you weren't in your right mind to care about it, Stephen Strange was right here, kissing you, feeling you through your scrubs; it was making you impatient, the air was getting hotter, your clothes suddenly felt too tight.
Stephen on the other hand was troubled by the way he was already so drawn to you. Normally it would be the woman that initiated these things with him but he was bending the norm, he was chasing after you. He was the chaser now and you were obviously pleased with yourself. He thought you tasted lavish and plentiful, he was swimming in you. Stephen's patience was wearing thin, it was a change of pace considering how careful and concise he was with his work, his sex life was more demanding. His mouth still fastened to yours, he walked you over to the operating table; you couldn't even catch your breath before he swivelled you around and bent you over, kicking your legs apart with his feet.
‘’You're flushed.’’ Stephen lowered his lips down to your ear, smirking at your little gasps of surprise in the process. ‘’That's how I know when you want to fuck. Note taken.’’ He threaded gis fingers through your ponytail and tugged the hairtie out of it, letting your hall fall down your back and shoulders.
‘’How do I know when you want to? When you randomly decide to bend me over on the operating table?’’ You asked him with a heavy voice, tilting your head to the side to peer up at him.
‘’No. When you're in the room. That's all it takes.’’ Stephen grunted. Your heart dipped at the statement, a strange feeling blooming inside of your lower stomach with his dirty words. You were wild about him, back arching already- he hadn't even taken your clothes off yet. Feeling pathetic didn't even seem worth it anymore, not when Stephen Strange was illiciting so many new reactions out of you; it was so different, he was making you feel things you couldn't even get out yourself.
For fucks sake, was he made out of magic or something? It felt like he was. There was something so inherently wrong with you, wrong with you both- this shouldn't be happening! You were colleagues! And you hated how much of an asshole he could be. But he was a severely attractive asshole. The type of man that truly understands how the mind works, how the body works. That doctorate really was coming in handy now.
Stephen's beautiful mind was already coming up with filthy ways to make you feel so good- he was excited and so damn aroused. Dear God, was this what it felt like to be sixteen again? He was acting like he's never seen a naked woman let alone actually fuck one before. Stephen pulled your pants down and you had no objections, in fact, you were itching to get it off.
‘’Don't forget that I respect the hell out of you.’’ He said as he ripped your underwear off, the elastic burning the underside of the thighs from the friction.
‘’Why do you say that?’’ You asked all breathy and sensual. Wondering what he actually meant.
‘’Because I'm about to fuck you full of disrespect.’’ Stephen's voice was heavy and husky. It was a promise and a threat all in one. what really tilted vou was when he pinned your arms behind your back tightly, the other hand flying to tug and pull at your loose hair.
You were about to melt into a puddle of goo, your knees buckled and stephen felt incredibly proud of himself. You had the ability to make him feel ten feet tall and completely elated. Your pussy was clenching around nothing and all you could do was whine at him to do something, satiate your grovelling need that required far too much attention.
‘’You want that?’’ Stephen asked, hoping you agree and confirmed what he already knew.
You peered up at him again. ‘’Go find someone else to boss around-‘’
Stephen scoffed at you, internally knowing you absolutely fucking love it when he did tell you what to do. You made it obvious, you flushed everytime you were near him- he couldn't help but let it stroke his ego. He wondered what you looked like stroking his cock. Although the idea seems far too appealing to be real, he simply couldn't tolerate your behaviour. By disrespect he didn't mean talk back at him.
You froze, heartbeats slowing like they'd been dropped in molasses. Stephen held you by your hair and pulled you up to his torso, like it was a leash. Your breath stopped when his front pressed against your back, he felt so warm, so fucking good. You could have groaned if you had the air to do so. With a slight tug, your head tilted to the side and his lips brushed the hollow behind your ear.
‘’I respect you but you're appalling me when all I want is to fuck...this.’’ Stephen grumbled as he spanked your bare behind. You squirmed against him relentlessly, mouth already foaming as he gripped your chin.
‘’Respect my wishes and fuck me disrespectfully.’’ You moaned at him, begging for something, anything- it was deplorable and you were sure you wouldn't be able to live it down.
Stephen didn't respond he just slammed you back down on the operating table. Your lips part in shock at his possessiveness, your body tensing and the anticipation growing immensely. Already spending too much time in your head, you were tethered back to reality by another spank on your ass- it'll turn into a burning shade of red soon.
Stephen was happy in the state that he got you, he was clearly pleased to see you considering how hard he was; he tugged his cock out of it's confines, it was growing painful leaving you like this with every second that passed.
You gasped as he slid into you so easily and Stephen thought he was bathing in the heavens. that voice was angelic, your moans a perfect instrumental. All he knew is that you set him ablaze as you stretched to accomodate his frighteningly thick size. The flames of hate and passion burned in equal measure, fusing and merging into one heady concotion. Your plea for more was silent, your back arching as his grip on your wrists growing tighter than ever.
‘’S-Someone could c-come in!’’ You struggled as he started rutting into you, the realisation that you were fucking your colleague finally dawning on you.
‘’Does that make your pussy wet?’’ He chuckled at you breathlessly. ‘’I bet it does, doesn't it?’’
The dickhead was laughing down at you. You shaked your head, attempting to deny the truth and in turn denying how much you wanted him. His head was cast in doubt at you
‘’The fear of people realising you're such a slut for me. That you're weak for me. Being caught with me balls deep inside you...it makes you want to cum, doesn't it?’’ He fucked you in hard quick strokes, taking complete control over you. Your breath sharpens and your moans heightens as you draw closer and closer to your inevitable end. He swatted your ass again and you felt your insides drop.
‘’Is this your version of playful banter, Doctor?’’ You tried your hand at flirting but Stephen was dead serious. He wasn't in the mood for your glute jokes.
‘’Answer my question and I'll answer yours.’’ Stephen plunged into you, deeper and deeper hitting that spot that made you see shattered starlight, reaching a peak you didn't even know you had in you.
You attempted to stammer out a response but your tongue turned numb and forgot how to function.
‘’Baby, don't be polite now.’’ He cooed at you like a stupid little schoolgirl.
‘’I-I...for fucks sake...Yes!’’ You huffed out, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing you melt under him.
‘’My version of playful banter is watching you on all fours crawling to me. Seeing how beautiful you look begging on your knees for my cock.’’
You moaned at the sheer thought of it.
Stephen wasn't joking. He wasn't anywhere near it. He wanted to watch you naked, crawling to him, begging for his cock.
Hm….the idea was certainly appealling.
Stephen was spurred on by it all and fucked into you, heavier, crazier, it was simply scandalous. His dick slid in and out of you so easily, you were wetter than you had ever been before. Your stomach tightens with heat, your thighs growing slicker and slicker as he pulsated inside of you- Stephen swallowed at your incredible disposition, pulling on your hair harder and harder like it was his own personal dog leash. In this position you were willing to admit you were his bitch.
Stephen's eyes light up and his nostrils flare with every stroke. His cool demeanour slipping as he let loose groans he was bottling up, raw desire bled through the cracks. He had to make sure you came. You were tensing up. So damn close to the sharp precipice. Your orgasm slammed into you and fireworks errupted behind your eyes. Fuck. It felt too good to be real. All of this pent up tension drawn back through sex is definitely not under cliched- but you couldn't find yourself caring. Your cry alone made Stephen release thick ropes of his cum inside of you. He came so fucking hard he almost sank to the floor, and that never happened. Ever. Afterwards, the air was filled and with dense sex.
‘’H-How-Why..?’’You blinked when he pulled out of you. ‘’Wow.’’ You looked a little shellshocked, eyes widening with what had actually happened.
Stephen couldn't help but laugh as he pulled your pants up and straightened you back up. He felt bad for not taking the time to clean you up but he was wary of the time and the fact that someone actually could spot you both. You readjusted your stance in an effort to seem more confident but when you swivelled around to face him, all Stephen could see was your expression- completely taken aback.
‘’It's okay, you'll get used to it.’’ He smiled at you, his eyes gleaming as he went to wash his hands in the sink, doing the exact same thing he did before he fucked you into another dimension, completely unbothered. You tossed him a scowl.
‘’Used to it? You're expecting this to happen again?’’ You sounded way more surprised than Stephen had liked.
‘’Yes. Next time for hours in my bed...I mean...unless you want to be fucked over another piece of medical apparatus.’’ He turned his head to smirk at you.
‘’Mmm….I liked the operating table.’’

Stephen was so incredibly tired. Anyone would feel like that if they spent five years fighting nonstop to defeat a giant purple alien threatening to destroy the universe. As much as he wanted to go to sleep, he still had to fight the endless amount of aliens that Thanos commanded.
When he looked around him, he watched in silent pride as many of his friends fought valiantly alongside him. Each person contributed to the battle in their own way, and from the way the battlefield looks, he could only assume that they were going to win this battle quite soon.
Yet, he was afraid, worried about Tony. Even though this is the only outcome in which they win this battle, Tony was going to have to sacrifice himself in order to defeat Thanos and his armies. His fears only doubled when he saw Captain Marvel fighting Thanos on her own. He could only watch helplessly as Tony slowly looked over towards where Stephen was preventing the ocean from flooding the battlefield. When they finally made eye contact, Stephen held up his finger, silently conveying to Tony that he was the key factor to winning this war. Understanding his message, the armored man quickly rushed over to where Thanos stood with his arm already inside Tony’s gauntlet. These events were all he had expected.
What he didn’t expect, however, was your sudden appearance beside him.
His heart dropped. You weren’t supposed to be here. He purposefully left you out of this battle so you could be safe, yet here you were, stubborn as ever to fight for the sake of the greater good. He watched as you worked with Tony in determination to take the stones away from Thanos. However, like the Time Stone prophesied, Tony was the one who ultimately wielded all five stones. And with just one snap, the world grew quiet.
While his eyes readjusted from the sudden blinding light that spread across the battlefield, he panicked. He could care less about the enemies around him dissolving into dust. He didn’t even care about the cheers of victory his comrades shouted towards him. No, he was frantically searching for you in the midst of the dead bodies around him because the last thing he saw before the bright light came was Thanos slamming you onto the ground repeatedly until you were unconscious.
His frantic eyes searched for you, his beloved, the only one who inspired him to push himself harder for five years straight, just so he could see you again. Now that it’s over, he might not even be able to hold you in his arms ever again. He tried not to distract himself from that depressing thought as he pushed his way through the crowd of Avengers. However, when he finally made it through, he wasn’t expecting you to not only be alive, but to also be strong enough to nurse Tony back to full health with your water magick. His eyes widened in shock. This was not something he foresaw in this outcome. Was this ending allowed?
Everyone talked amongst themselves while your watery hand hovered over Tony’s cheek and sealed the last of the cracks on his face. You smiled at him faintly, not wanting to show to anyone how absorbing the Infinity Stones’ powers inside Tony in order to heal him had almost killed you as well. But, magick always came with a price, and you of all people understood that. You lowered your hand and collapsed tiredly against the large, upturned rock while Tony stood up. A woman you assumed to be Tony’s wife ran up to him and cried onto his shoulder in relief as a wave of people made their way over to hug Tony in gratitude.
You didn’t blame them for not caring about your condition. They barely knew you, since Stephen refused to talk about you or even let you participate in this war, but you were just grateful that you were able to break Stephen’s protection spells and make it to the battlefield in time. You smiled at the thought of Stephen finally being back after five years without him. Though your thoughts were peaceful, your body was still struggling to process the foreign power coursing within you, so you needed to think quickly about where to transfer this power.
Stephen was too busy thinking inside his head about how on earth you ended up in an outcome that he did not foresee. From what he knew about the Mystic Arts, what you did was supposed to be impossible. But his thoughts dissipated away when he heard the sounds of your pained grunts on the ground. He looked down at you crawling over to where Tony’s fried gauntlet was while your hands radiated the bright colors of the Infinity Stones. He was too afraid to even touch or approach you because he still couldn’t believe the you were here, right in front of him.
After you took Tony’s gauntlet into your hand, you shakily slammed your hand onto the five stones, causing bright lightning to spark and the warbling sound of sheer power to resonate across the entire battlefield. Immediately, this got everyone’s attention, a mixture of curious and fearful eyes turning towards you with the hope that you would be able to survive too. When all the power was finally transferred back into the stones, everything stopped and you collapsed onto the ground with a series of terrible coughs of blood. Everyone around Stephen immediately rushed over to you, Steve already assigning tasks to the others on how to get you to the hospital as quickly as possible. This was Stephen’s last straw. Nobody was going to take you away from him any longer.
He impatiently shoved everyone out of his way, not caring anymore if he sounded too rude to everyone else. This was all about his partner and he was about to be the only one out of everyone who didn’t get his happy-ever-after. All he wanted to do was cry in frustration about your condition, but he had to stay strong for you.
When he finally shoved Steve out of the way, his breath hitched in the back of his throat when he saw you bloodied and weakened from what you just did. When your eyes finally made eye contact with your husband’s, you felt like your whole world fell apart and rebuilt itself back up all over again. You didn’t know if you wanted to cry or if you wanted to slap him for being dead for five years.
“Stephen…” you trailed off, your eyes filled with the unspoken and raw emotion he knew you only had for him. Oh, how he missed staring into your beautiful eyes. Both of you didn’t care that you now had a crowd that was watching you two interact. But before you could hear him say anything back, your eyes blurred as your world suddenly went dark.
———
When you woke up, you had been informed by Rhodey that you were unconscious for four days now. You weren’t surprised, as those Infinity Stones really did drain you, but you knew you were going to be fine. When you asked about how your husband was doing, Rhodey only gave you a tired sigh and offered for you to come see him yourself. His offer only worried you more, so you accepted. He carefully set you into a wheelchair and took you to the living room, where you could see some of your friends awkwardly observing Stephen. You reached out to grab Rhodey’s hand and silently requested him to stand behind the door so you both could listen in on what the others were saying. He chuckled at your request but did as he was told. You two leaned in to listen.
“I’m not gonna lie here, Strange. I’ve never seen you so stressed out. Since when did you started caring about people?” You heard Tony say sarcastically to your husband. You suppressed a giggle at his words. “It’s none of your business, Stark,” your husband growled out. From his shaky, hoarse voice, you could tell that he’s been up for days in complete distress. Poor Stephen. The others protested to his words at the same time.
- “Why won’t you tell us??”
- “Is (y/n) really so horrible to the point where you can’t even tell us who they are to you?”
- “Why do you care about them so much?”
“Wait,” Steve cried out, immediately silencing the others. You heard him take a step forward. “Do you love (y/n), Strange?” he asked suspiciously. Everyone fell into a tense silence as they waited in anticipation for what Stephen had to say. You looked up at Rhodey and he knew it was your cue to go inside.
Before Stephen could say anything, you entered the silent room with Rhodey and it took everything within him not to cry out in relief. You looked as healthy as you could be. You saw how his eyes softened slightly towards you and you, in turn, smiled softly back at him. “Hi Stephen,” you said sweetly, causing the man to stutter in his arrogant stature. Just from one greeting from you, he was already melting like putty. He really missed you. He greeted you back, but he couldn’t hide from you the clear tension he had from holding back his feelings for you in front of the others. The other Avengers watched you interact with him suspiciously, Tony being the only one to be completely amused by this situation. He has waiting for a chance to make fun of Stephen and now was finally his chance.
“What were you all talking about?” you asked, feigning innocence. Rhodey snorted under his breath as he settled you next to where Stephen sat on the couch. Stephen’s hands twitched in his lap, desperately wishing to touch you. Steve coughed in embarrassment. “Uhh… nothing, (y/n). We were just talking about how we hoped that you would wake up soon and—“
“Wait, I thought we were talking about the wizard man having a crush on Mx. (Y/n)?” Thor asked innocently. (Was it innocent, though? Nobody would ever know). Everyone grew silent and felt the wrath of Stephen’s glare before they all looked at you sheepishly. You blinked a few times at Thor’s blunt words while Stephen tried to explain himself.
“W-well, uh. You see… (Y/n)—“
You leaned back in your wheelchair and chuckled at your husband.
“You have a crush on me, Stephen?” you gasped lightly, amusement sparkling in your eyes. He was about to utter more grumpy protests until your bandaged hand reached out to caress his cheek. All previous stress and anger melted away the moment he felt your skin against his and his eyes shone bright with unyielding love and adoration for you. He couldn’t hide his affection for you any longer. He turned his head slightly to kiss the palm of your hand with all the tenderness that he could muster up for you. “I should hope that our wedding vows would be enough for you to figure out that answer, Mx. Strange,” he shyly replied back. He was practically gushing from one sentence and a simple cheek caress from you. Though it was humorous to hide your marriage for so long from everyone else, you were relieved to finally be able to show your affections for him in public.
Meanwhile, everyone was shocked beyond belief.
“Okayyyy, pause on the romcom scene,” Tony stated while everyone was murmuring in confusion. You chuckled and looked at the others. You felt Strange tense up again, so you gestured for him to come to you. He smiled gratefully and simply wrapped his arms around you and buried his face into your neck. He could hear Tony’s disgusted groans and Peter and Thor’s ‘awww’s’ but he just couldn’t care anymore. You were finally in his arms again.
Tony crossed his arms. “So let me get this straight. Since the time I knew Strange and you, you guys have been hiding the fact that you two were married? Why?” You shrugged nonchalantly while you slowly rubbed your husband’s back. “Many people wanted him dead and many people wanted me dead. If word got out that we were each other’s weaknesses, all of our enemies would have a field day,” you mused. Your husband sat up properly and turned to glare at everyone. “Exactly. And if Thanos was your first rodeo with intergalactic, powerful beings that want to destroy the universe, think about how all of our enemies want do the exact same thing, or worse— destroy the multiverse,” he boasted grumpily. You hummed and pat his back lovingly. He wasn’t going to get away with being arrogant in front of you this time. “That, and this stubborn man here wants every one of you to think that he has no weaknesses because he wants to be superior to everyone! Isn’t that right, darling?” You cooed innocently while pinching his cheek.
Everyone just stood there stunned as they watched you exchange loving coos to a man who they thought was unreachable, and watched as said man grumbled and pouted when you doted on him. Witnessing this was a bit of a whiplash for them, they had to admit. They stayed silent for what felt like a very long time before one of them spoke up.
“Um, Mx. Strange?” Peter called out timidly. You stopped your attacks towards Stephen and looked back at the young Avenger. “Yes, Peter Parker?” He smiled back at you nervously before shuffling his feet. He was probably going to get in trouble for this question, but he really had to know. He looked at Tony before looking back at you. “Is Doctor Strange like really soft like a teddy bear or is he always really mean to everyone?” he blurted out quickly before mimicking gluing his mouth shout. Everyone burst into laughter, Tony’s laugh being particularly heard in the room. Peter started apologizing profusely to everyone in the room while Thor used this outburst as a cue for him to walk up to you. He knelt down in front of you and took your hand into his own. “I would only hope that your husband is treating you like you are royalty, for it is the duty of a husband to make sure that a beautiful creature such as yourself is treated as such,” he said smoothly to you before leaning down to kiss the back of your hand in reverence. You choked at his action and stuttered out a series of compliments back towards the god, as you weren’t exactly sure how to process the fact that an actual god is giving you such high compliments.
That, and with how jealous you could see Stephen getting from the corner of your eye, you couldn’t help but selfishly indulge a little in the compliments Thor gave you.
While you simply watched the god kiss your hand, you decided to answer Peter’s question. “Since my husband is in the room right now, I would rather not answer that question, as I would actually like to be able to sleep in the same bed as him tonight,” you joked lightheartedly. Looking down at the man before you, you slowly slipped your hand from his gasp and pat his cheek. Thor took the hint, stood up, and walked back to his place behind the couch. Stephen immediately grabbed onto the hand Thor was kissing earlier and started to rub it, as if he was actually trying to scrub off Thor’s kisses. You turned your head to stare at him in confusion, but he only leaned in to kiss your lips in a brief, but passionate kiss. Stephen pulled away and glared at everyone. “I’ll have you know that our marriage and relationship is none of your guys’ business. This is exactly why I didn’t want to tell you guys about our relationship,” he growled out irritatedly. In response, you hushed him, patting his hand to calm him down. To everyone in the room, it was like you were the sun itself and Stephen was as icy and dark as the moon was. You two were opposites, through and through.
Rhodey walked back into the room and handed you a glass of water and you took it gratefully. He sat down next to Tony while you sipped your water. “So wizard,” Tony started, already receiving a frown from your husband. “How’s it like to be in a relationship with someone who is better at magic than you?” he challenged, wishing to relish Stephen’s embarrassment for just a while longer. Stephen grew furious when Tony spoke up, but when he finally processed his question, he calmed down. Instead of lashing out, he grew smug. “Actually, it’s amazing. (Y/n) is the most powerful witch I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and it’s almost unbelievable that I get to call them mine.” As if to emphasize his point, he leaned down to kiss your hand tenderly before he looked back up at you. “They are mine...”
He looked at you like you held his entire world in your hands. He trusted you with his life, just as much as you trusted your life with his. Despite how different you two were, you two were always a team. It had taken you too many years to get to the stable marriage you both now enjoyed, and all those years of hardship and heartbreak was worth enduring when you got to feel his lips against your skin and hands intertwined with yours. You were his and he was yours. No one and nothing else mattered, as long as you two were together.
You heard someone clear their throat and you both turned to where Steve sat, his own face red from the situation he had gotten himself into. “Well, I guess we should leave you both to it, then?” He declared. The rest of the Avengers grumbled and proceeded to leave the room after Steve indirectly told them to leave you both alone, for now.
When all of them left the room, Stephen finally let out a sigh of relief that he had been holding in since he saw you. He immediately pulled you into a loving embrace, clinging onto you as if you were about to flutter away from him at any moment. “Finally, alone time,” he grumbled against your skin. Lovingly, you pet his hair, making sure he felt all the love you had to give him in your embrace. You were content in staying like this for the rest of the night, but of course, your stubborn husband had other plans in mind.
When he thought you were surely about to fall asleep in his arms, he started kissing down your neck, causing you to groan out in protest. “Noooooo,” you whined out teasingly, trying to tug yourself away from him. He, of course, refused to let this go and excitedly stood up to grip onto your wheelchair handles. “Come on, darling. We’ve got a lot of catching up to do,” he said cheekily before speeding down the hallway towards the golden portal at the end of the hall. You laughed happily and gripped onto the handle bars tightly, your wedding ring glinting brighter than before. Though he will always be an arrogant man to everyone he meets, he is your arrogant man, and you wouldn’t have it any other way; avengers or enemies be damned.

boiling tempers
He might be an excellent neurosurgeon and your colleague, but Stephen Strange has the talent of winding you up like no other person can. After a surgery nearly goes wrong, you finally clash.
Pairing: Surgeon!Stephen Strange x Male Reader
Warnings: 18+ (Minors DNI), hate sex, rough sex, unprotected, semi-public, mature language, one act of physical violence, mentions of surgery, Stephen being an asshole
A/N: we all feel some type of way about surgeon strange, don't we?
Tumblr media
There was not a single human being that annoyed you more than Doctor Stephen fucking Strange.
Maybe it was his stupidly smug face, the cold look of superiority he tended to wear, trying to convince everyone that yeah, he was the best neurosurgeon and yeah, he did perform miracles on the human nervous system and no, your disease just simply wasn't good enough to be treated by him.
Maybe it was his arrogance, the way he put himself above the rest of the hospital staff, his dismissive stance on cases that were not challenging and therefore not deserving of being put on his surgical records.
Perhaps it was the way he talked down to other nurses and doctors alike, the way he never even spared as much as a glance or a tight-lipped “Hello” when crossing familiar faces in the hallway, going along his day like there was no other as good as Stephen Strange.
It irked you that you couldn't even deny him all of the fame and praise he earned, considering the fact that he was actually the best neurosurgeon the country could offer and he did damn good work.
That also unfortunately ensured him the top spot at the Metro General, which was the perfect opportunity to be an absolute dick to others and most turned a blind eye at his behavior.
The directors board of the hospital was most pleased to have Strange as their top neurosurgeon – any hospital would have – but that likely had to do with his abilities and definitely not with his personality. Doctors, students and nurses were in adoration of his surgical skills, marveling how Strange spoke about his work and how passionate he was about taking on cases (if worthy of his attention), and of course mooning over his looks.
Though did anyone of them possibly think he was a great person?
He was a great surgeon, sure. You could admit to that. You had quite a bit of respect for the work he did, unmatched in his capability and passion. An excellent, fast and hard working doctor, definitely admirable for his accomplishments, truly someone to look up to – for as long as he was in his scrubs in the OR, fingers busy with reattaching nerves or scrambling around in other people's brains.
The one and only Doctor Strange sure messed with your brain too.
If that weren't already enough... being around him was simply unavoidable.
Because the doctor was not only head neurosurgeon, making you – after years of studying, going through multiple exams and with a good eight years of work experience under your belt, now a perfectly capable surgical assistant – his stepping rug on every opportunity. No, he also happened to be a friend of Christine's.
How she had come to find someone like Strange even bearable in the first place was a huge mystery to you.
When you had first started at the Metro as a surgical assistant, working alongside resident doctors day by day, Christine had been one of your first good friends here and you quickly learned of her admittedly very silly crush on Stephen Strange.
You had heard more than enough about it. The way he had denied any of her advances straight away. How he had downright refusing to date her, up until the point that she had finally decided to put an end to trying and accepted they were never going to be anything besides friends.
Friendship seemed to work just fine for them. She still continued to spend time with him on the regular, plenty even, and you never really understood why. Her connection to the neurosurgeon was by all means strange – having asked times and times again what she might gain out of it, Christine never really went into detail why she was enduring the way he was. And god forbid, why she was even caring for him in this way.
Who knew what kind of secret Strange was hiding that made him actually likable in her eyes? Whatever it was, Christine kept it to herself. All she ever said was "He's not that bad when you get to know him."
You sure as hell didn't want to get to know him any more than you already did.
It was worse enough that you had to see him all the time.
He was in Christine's presence constantly – loitering around her office whenever they had a second of time to spare or interfering in lunch breaks and conversations you had meant to have with her. Of course, they were colleagues and their shared work was commendable, so in some way it seemed like Strange counted a lot on her opinion – whether it was going over cases together, creating a new surgical procedure, bothering her with preparation for speeches or events.
There was not a day you didn't run into him at the hospital either. As to be expected, you mostly saw him in the OR, where you had to assist him because it was your job, where you had to do his bidding in order to ensure a successful surgery. You never let your opinion of Strange influence the way you worked with him, passing tools from hand to hand. If anything, you've learned plenty about neurosurgery and the surgeon himself in your time assisting him.
But being constantly put on the same shifts with Strange also meant you saw a lot more of him during an entire work week than you would have wanted to. All you got to see of him outside the OR was not convincing you to seek out even more of him.
Plus, you were pretty sure that Stephen Strange had no fucking interest in getting to know you either. He knew you were friends with Christine, he seemed to hold no grudge against you personally, had never complained about the times you worked together at the operating table, but he was as indifferent as he always was with others. Constantly referring to you by your last name. Tending to ignore you whenever you came across each other in Christine's presence. Certainly not going out of his way to be particularly nice to you.
Sometimes you understood.
Neurosurgery was nothing for the faint of heart.
They all took hours and hours in the OR sometimes, remaining up on their feet and concentrated for a really long time. Surgeries were challenging, nerve-wrecking, tiring. Emergencies were most stressful. Of course, everything had to be in place for the head surgeon right in time, everyone needed to be prepared for complications at the worst times, everyone needed to stay focused and ready for the surgeon's requirements.
That was the job you had signed up for and you didn't require Doctor Strange to use a kind tone in the OR. You didn't mind that he scoffed at his staff occasionally or that he wasn't thanking you for doing the basic assistant work.
What you minded was that Strange sometimes used others as a personal punching bag when something wasn't going right, making sure to point out everyone's mistakes, except his own of course.
And this had almost gone terribly wrong.
Though it was neither your teams nor the doctor's fault that the scans had failed to show the true expense of the tumor of your most recent patient, it was a certain someone's fault for wanting to make the impossible possible.
The entire surgical team had advised Stephen Strange not to do it, to not even try to touch that tumor after opening the patient up, but he had been so convinced of his surgical skills that he tried it anyways, wanting to please his own god complex like he just loved to do.
Only a couple of minutes later, though working with a calm and steady hand as usual, he had to calmly admit to his personal mistake and stopped whatever he had planned in his genius mind when he noticed he had underestimated that tumor, having unfortunately triggered some hemorrhage that disabled him to keep on operating. Instead of a resection, he now had to opt for clipping the bleeding, which was a difficult and stressful change of action for the lot of them – not impossible, but looking at the great schemes of things preventable, had he listened.
The team had barely managed to stabilize the patient's condition after he had done his best to fix the mistake.
You could tell that Strange was in a sour mood, his inflated ego having taken quite the damage after realizing that playing god didn't work out for him so well sometimes and needing to admit his personal failure, while he was closing the patient up again, tumor remaining in place.
Even so, you thought he should count himself lucky and were thoroughly relieved that him acting out had not taken this man's life. But you bit your tongue, not wanting to drop a negative comment about what had happened to the surgeon himself, who was already tense and on edge from his failed attempt.
Instead you had decided to say something nice, whatever had made you get this idea.
"I've never seen such a massive tumor. It would have taken hours of preparation to even ensure a partial resection. Let alone a miracle to get rid of it entirely", you so casually mentioned to the doctor as you were getting changed side by side like so often, the only two remaining in the locker room.
You were hardly ever chatty around him, neither was he with you. And yeah, you were very aware he could get nasty in one of his moods, so perhaps opening your mouth to him now wasn't a smart decision. However, you were a fairly decent person, his colleague, showing sympathy when it was due, and you were under the impression that he could use a kind word.
Stephen Strange was arrogant and a downright asshole sometimes, but only human – and like any other person he had made a mistake, a lapse of judgment. While it shouldn't have happened in the OR or almost cost a person's life, there was no way of turning time back to prevent it. He had owned up to it by admitting his defeat and would carry the possible consequences.
"It was the right decision to stop. A good decision. You did what you could. Going on would have been too big of a risk and I'm glad you managed to clip it entirely."
Strange grumbled a little, seemingly ignoring your comment at first and wordlessly slipping out of his scrubs to reveal a sight you knew all too well for getting undressed in the same room quite regularly.
And dear lord, the sight of him only.
You were too defeated after the chaos in the OR to keep yourself from looking. Wasn't it annoying how good he looked too? As much as you hated his smug face, he was a painfully attractive man. Taking good care of himself and his body, certainly fitting in the occasional work-out between shifts. What he lacked in personality, decency for one, this body made up.
Judging by looks alone, couldn't let your gaze wander too often or obvious, the man was likely sporting a big dick too – and to say the least, Strange might not have been very desirable when it came to character, but you were certain he would be a good fuck.
"Bleeding was horrid, yeah, but as I said... a partial resection still should have been possible. But for that I would need a team that backs me up when it gets critical and doesn't retreat when things seem a little more challenging", the surgeon eventually spoke, “Didn't help that everyone was so stressed out all of the sudden, threw me a little off guard.”
As soon as he had opened his mouth, every positive impression or thought you had ever harvested for him seemed to instantly leave the room, the building, the city and Earth itself. His enormous ego was once again infuriating you.
The audacity alone to claim what he had just said made you see red.
Everyone on your surgical team was used to Strange, he was used to all of you. You worked together well, hand in hand, especially when things were tough!
It wasn't any of your jobs to kiss his ass because it suited him better, and that very well included giving him counterpoints in the OR, in order to prevent him from pushing past the limits. Which he had done. Which would have gone wrong hadn't you all been there to assist him in undoing the mistake.
And yet he had just said that, convinced of his god-like ability, accusing your team was at fault, denying that he was fallible like any other human being.
While you had really meant to be nice to him and not to scratch his already vulnerable ego any further, that was one word too much.
Stephen Strange had the talent of winding you up like no one else could.
"With all respect, doctor, you can count yourself lucky that this man is still alive and didn't end up in the morgue like he almost did", you eventually snapped and it sure must have looked ridiculous: you in your underwear, furious with rage, significantly smaller than Strange himself, as you faced him.
No smug look on his face anymore, but a suddenly darkened expression, jaw tensing, his facial muscles twitching in annoyance, Strange went from zero to one-hundred real quick too.
"Watch your mouth", he snarled, sharply addressing you with your last name like he always did, though not looking any less ridiculous in his underwear. He stepped towards you with a somewhat threatening intention, obviously wanting to impose.
Strange was a broad man, healthy, strong, could have easily overpowered you. You noticed that his whole body had gone rigid with tension, fists clenched, muscles visibly tense, and on any other day you might have gladly allowed yourself to admire the sight, but not today.
You both kept your stances.
"Yeah, or what?", you spoke through gritted teeth.
"I'm warning you here", Strange replied, the air between the two of you intense and heavy with both your frustrations. Any more tension and the air might have cracked under the pressure. "Don't push it, boy. Only because you're Christine's friend doesn't mean I won't get you into serious trouble with the board."
"Threatening me now, doctor? Oh, you must really think you're so untouchable, don't you?", you snarled right back at him, almost butting heads together, so close to one another like never before, only a sliver away from actually touching.
"I'm just saying it how it is. You're a huge asshole, never able to look past your own arrogance, and you'd know how much people actually despised you if you looked left and right sometimes."
"And you're an insolent and incompetent brat. This behavior is entirely unprofessional", Strange spewed, anger and frustration glowing in his eyes, written all over his face, "and I will make sure you're going to regret this."
"You're not any better, Strange", you spoke with sheer despise and must have looked just as frustrated, facing him like this, not backing down, absolutely enraged by his stupid threats and the simple overestimation of his own person.
Brows furrowed, nostrils blowing furiously, so up in each others personal space that you felt his warm, heavy breath on him, standing there in nothing but your underwear, bodies tense with every single second and then... all hell broke loose.
Strange took another step forward, grabbed you by the shoulders and pushed you backwards into the lockers, with a little more force than you had initially expected. The sudden impact made you groan in pain, your back colliding with the cold metal doors, as the other man now held you wedged between them and him.
Your heart leaped in your chest, your breath hitched for a moment. Because you hadn't expected this form of aggressiveness from him, the sheer dominance, getting so physical when it could get him in serious trouble to assault someone in such a way, even as a doctor. Especially as a doctor.
But facing him like this, it wasn't fear that surged through your body. No, definitely not fear. It turned you on.
"Fuck you", you just said, trying to push back and shove him away, slamming the flats of your palms against his pecs. Though when you noticed that you had no way of escaping, Strange's hot and tense body keeping you trapped, him being so much stronger than you were, your brain simply short-circuited.
Instead of struggling against him further, you leaned towards him and clashed your mouths together in a whim, immediately thinking to yourself that whatever you were doing right was really foolish.
You would have expected anything from this unpredictable man, being shoved to the side, being called slurs, perhaps even being truly physically hurt after doing something so ridiculously stupid – but all the doctor did, while seemingly surprised by the action, was pressing his mouth right back onto yours, almost hungrily, teeth digging into your bottom lip.
Strange was responding to your attempt of a kiss, the both of you pouring all of your sheer anger into it. Teeth clashing and biting, tongues plundering each others mouths, he kept you pressed up against the locker with all of his body, his hands holding you in place, nudging his thigh between your legs which definitely added onto your undeniable arousal.
"You're terrible and I hate you", you groaned against his lips once gasping for air, though wasting no time to pull him in close again, hand sliding into the doctor's hair as you tugged hard on it, the other finding his upper back, fingers digging into his shoulders to a point where you knew it was likely going to hurt him.
You were hoping it would leave stinging marks for him to remember this.
"Feeling's mutual", Strange hissed into the kiss, thigh pressing further into your growing hardness, holding onto your waist with a firm grip, fingers digging into your skin so tightly that you almost hoped they would bruise you too.
"Look at you, like a little slut, getting all hard and desperate when someone treats you like deserve it", he continued on, the low gravel of his voice sending shivers up your spine, the bite of his harsh words even more so sparking your arousal.
"Yeah, as if you're not into it", you replied immediately, knowing that Strange was hard too, feeling him pressed up against your leg. Something within you screamed to be taken apart right here, like this, wanted the doctor to use you, to fuck the frustration right out of the both of you. You had no idea why that sounded like such a good idea.
"Why not be a man of your word and put me in my place?", you asked quietly, suggestively, kissing him hard once again, catching his lip between your teeth and biting down, earning yourself a scowl.
When Strange pulled away, you could make out his dark pupils dilating in those icy blue eyes, a gaze full of lust, his lips parted with heavy breaths seeping through, red and swollen.
He didn't reply anything and let go for a moment to grab you hard by the shoulders again, urging you to turn around. You could hardly stop yourself from being shoved into the lockers again, bracing yourself up against them with your hands, back arched, displaying your ass to him quite nicely.
“Remember you asked for it”, he growled then, seeming amenable to give you what you what, pushing his hips into yours. Now you could definitely feel that Strange was hard, pressing up against the curve of your ass.
You reveled in the feeling for a moment, fearing that it might be gone in the blink of an eye, but something told you he wasn't going to let it go now. He wouldn't back down, not after this amount of disrespect.
As it happened to be, without a single precaution, he nearly ripped your underwear off you, leaving you entirely bare and in anticipation of whatever he was going to do to next. You were shuddering, the cold of the room brushing over your body, goosebumps forming, but remained standing steady even as the doctor's hands returned to you.
Skilled surgeons hands, kneading your ass, pulling your cheeks apart, as fingers delved between them, brushing over your needy hole. Even just the touch made your breath hitch, feeling his fingertips circling the sensitive ring of muscles, and god, your cock was already stirring in interest, leaking a pathetic trickle of precum.
How was he turning you on this much?
"Do you have any idea how much you rile me up all the fucking time? How often you make me want to bend you over the operating table? How much I want to teach you a lesson whenever you're getting snappy in the OR? You're such a damn brat, it makes me wanna do all kinds of things to you", Strange mewled into your ear, kissing the spot behind it, moving down to suck hard on your neck again, bruising you, biting you, “I bet you'll look so pretty on my cock. Gonna fuck you raw, would you like that?”
"You owe it to me, Strange", you moaned, surprised by his words. Him? Riled up by you? Wanting to bend him over? Wanting to discipline him? For how long had he been having these fantasies?
He didn't leave you much time to go on wondering. You heard the man spit then, feeling a trickle of wetness being spread around your hole, a single digit easing into you, accompanied by the slight burn of the stretch, though not unfamiliar.
Would have been better with preparation, but this would do. You would let him fuck you like this.
"I knew you were gonna be a real cockslut", the doctor mused but seemed to be a man of his word, spreading more of his spit over your hole, working you open with precise movements, like one would expect from someone with such skilled hands. Two fingers in, you couldn't have cared any less if anyone found the two of you like this. You were gone and beyond as those fingers found your sweet spot, their intrusion leaving a nice burning stretch, then brushing over your prostate, making your cock jolt in response, a moan slipping passed your lips.
"Gosh, can't you just fuck me already?", you begged, thighs already shaking from the stimulation, especially the way he seemed so keen on prodding your prostate all over again.
"Oh, we're getting there and I'll make sure you'll remember it well", Strange growled at you, pulling his fingers back, "Gonna make you feel me all night, all day, all week. Every time you get in here, every time you see me in the OR, you'll think of this.”
It sounded more like a promise than a threat though. You just knew Strange would fuck you unforgettably well. It wouldn't matter how rough or angry it would be, and you craved to feel it all week, even just as a reminder that you had fucked Stephen Strange, out of all people.
"Stop talking so much", you bit back, feeling the tip of the doctor's cock gently nudging your hole, smearing more spit and his own precum all over you, before finally pushing in, the intrusion of his impressive length making you gasp.
The long-awaited stretch of a cock inside of you was sudden and damn, Strange was filling you out good, to the point where you certainly needed a moment to adjust to all his girth and might, finding it hard to breathe.
Balling your hands into fists, you took deep breaths through your nose, but pressed back into him, making sure to allow all of the man in. “G-god, knew you'd have a huge cock”, you huffed out, eyes squeezed shut, knowing that it would do nothing but stroke his ego. However you just didn't care about the size of it anymore now that he was fully sheathed inside of you, leaving you rather focused on the size of something else.
"Fuck, you're damn tight", the doctor groaned, stilling inside of you for a moment, noticing that you needed the time to get used to him, which was in some way almost kind. His large, precise hands came to rest on your waist, holding onto you, absentmindedly stroking the skin there.
"Already regretting this?", he mocked, fingers squeezing into the softness of your flesh, but didn't start moving yet.
"No", you huffed, unashamed to add the next comment as you deemed yourself more than ready, "And you should start moving before I get bored."
That certainly stirred up a fire in Strange again, though perhaps less out of anger and frustration, now shrouded with desire and lust and the challenge to make you feel all of him. He began moving painstakingly slow at first, pulling slightly back before thrusting into you without holding back, and then settled quickly on fucking you hard and deep, filling you out so perfectly, hitting that sweet spot within you immediately.
The two of you were soon enough in a complete trance, Strange's eager and hard thrusts, his cock stretching you out all over again, both of you moaning and groaning and panting heavily, your legs almost giving in as the rapid strokes sent a shudder through your entire body, the metal of the locker doors rattling under the sheer force of your coupling.
You couldn't focus on anything else than the waves of pleasure all through your body, the thought that you liked being used by Strange like this, how glad you were the anger and the frustration was fucked right out of you by the exact man who had riled you up like that in the first place. A man you riled up just as much, who had apparently waited to put you into your place for a long time now.
The grip on your hips was bruising, Strange's mouth must have left marks all over your neck, your shoulders, your upper back, as he kept on latching onto you everywhere he could reach – and you would most certainly feel the sting of being stretched out so wonderfully whenever you would try to sit down the next few days. You found it harder and harder to keep yourself upright, still bracing yourself against the lockers.
As you could feel your orgasm beginning to hit hard, crawling up your spine, white hot flashes etching in your brain, you quickly reached down to grab your painfully hard cock, tugging on yourself as the hard thrusts into you sent you over the edge, your hole clenching around the man's length, eager to keep him in place, trapping him inside of you.
Strange made an ungodly noise as you tightened around him, slumping forwards against your back and coming to his own undoing. With his head coming to rest on shoulder, cock buried within you to the hilt, he spilled himself inside of you, holding onto you as both your orgasms completely ruled over you.
It took you a while to come down from that high. The rush of passion and adrenaline had long passed, your head found some clearance again.
You sighed loudly, breathing hard, sweaty and definitely in need of a shower now. There was a distinctive ache in your body and you grew awfully aware he was still inside of you.
Strange's arm came around your middle and he simply held onto you instead of drawing away. You almost found yourself a little puzzled when the man nuzzled your neck, placing an almost gentle kiss on it, and even more so by the way you weren't fully disliking his embrace.
He asked you an odd question then too. You hadn't expected it. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah... yeah, I think I am", you answered after a moment of silence, only now noticing the mess you had made, your own cum having spurted onto one of the lockers, on the floor, covering your hand too. Even though you were sticky and kinda sore, it made you grin. He'd sure fucked you good.
You were definitely going to feel the burn for days to come and would not forget about your interaction any time soon. You sure hoped that neither would he.
"Are you?", you asked him, not even knowing why you were trying to respond with the same kindness. It didn't match the situation at all, didn't match the smell of sex hanging in the air, didn't match the fact you had literally just fucked your frustration out of each other, the argument entirely dissolved – for Lord's sake, you could feel his cum trickling down your thighs, once Strange eased his hold and pulled out of you, and yet you were chatting each other up so casually.
"More than", the doctor admitted, "I think we settled that argument at least."
You wriggled out of his grip, turning around in his arms, facing the man that now seemed a lot more relaxed and calm, not angry or upset anymore in the slightest, though just as messy and disheveled as yourself.
The tension had just been whiffed away.
"We did", you mused, oddly talkative after just getting your brain fucked out.
You pondered whether to say something else, whether to just shut up and go your ways, whether to confront him about what had just happened and what it would mean for the two of you.
He was still looking at you, questioning, perhaps even waiting for you to add something. So after a slight pause, you did.
"What happened in the OR today was unfortunate. What you said made me angry and sure, you're an arrogant asshole and I don't agree with the things you do sometimes. I get annoyed by you on the regular, but I didn't actually mean it when I said that I hate you. If anything, I'm kind of surprised by you.”
“Why, didn't think I'd dare to fuck you?”, Strange chuckled, probably unsure what you were meaning to tell him – you didn't quite know yourself – and no longer looked at you in disapproval, but like he was in good spirits. There was this cockiness to him again, something to usually disliked, though in the afterglow it more so wanted to make you smile.
“Well yeah”, you shrugged, “Didn't think you'd be interested.”
“I was pissed off after fucking up and then of course it had to be you approaching me. So as I've said... I've been feeling some type of way about you before. I shouldn't have said you're incompetent, because you're not. I find you irritating and annoying. You are a brat, no doubt, and I've wanted to fuck that out of you for a long time. Didn't think you'd let me, especially not that way. It was kinda hot", he replied nonchalantly, bending down to pick up both your underwear from the ground, handing yours over.
“So you're saying you're actually into me?”
“I said I wanted to put you in your place and fuck you, which I just did. But maybe, just maybe, Christine is right after all and I should get to know you."
"Funny. She told me the same thing", you responded, opening your locker to grab a towel and the bag with toiletries, thinking that you would now definitely have to hit the showers, needing to get rid of all your traces, at least the once you could get rid of. Your skin was stinging was his marks and you sure were sore. But damn, hadn't that been just worth it.
It was weird to suddenly see Strange in such a different light.
"Well, considering she might have a point, we cleared the air, we both know the sex will be good... maybe we could go for a coffee sometime?", he asked, picking his own stuff from the locker.
"Asking me on a date now, Doctor Strange?", you wondered, looking him over in all his naked glory and musing whether it would really be a good idea to get to know him beyond the OR, not quite knowing where the change of heart came from all of the sudden. Couldn't have just been the sex, could it?
You had always felt some type of way about Stephen Strange. It usually hadn't been very positive and it didn't help you faced a bunch of conflicting feelings now, not knowing what to make of this.
He would certainly make for another good fuck, you had no doubts about that, and it would be worth it, if going for a coffee together meant getting to fuck him in a proper bed some day. Strange would certainly still make you mad and put you off plenty of times, especially with his attitude and all, but as had been proven today, it definitely ensured some hot sex.
Could it be more than just sex one day? Maybe it was a bit too early to think about that.
"Would it be that weird if I was? I already fucked you, so I might as well go on a coffee date with you", Strange shrugged, looking you over in return, eyes raking over you like he could have devoured you another time right there, right then.
"Look at you being all chivalrous. Do you even know my first name, doctor?", you couldn't repress the cheeky question.
"Don't be silly, I can read a name tag. Though I think, brat suits you just fine", the older man stated, giving you a wink and a cocky smile, before throwing the towel over his shoulder and heading off to the bathroom.
Stephen Strange sure was a man to behold.

Change is Never Easy
Summary: The two of you called it quits a month or so ago...and then Y/n faints during a shift. Change is never easy.
Pairing: Surgeon!Strange x Fem!Nurse!Reader
Warning(s): ex-lovers, exes to lovers(?), fainting, unexpected pregnancy
Tumblr media
The atmosphere at General-Metro had quickly become thick with tensions ever since the breakup. Dr Stephen Strange and Nurse Y/n L/n had officially called it quits a few weeks ago, and the lingering awkwardness between them was impossible to ignore.
Navigating the hallways was like tiptoeing through an emotional minefield.
Y/n, nursing her wounded heart, did her best to keep up appearances during her shifts. She tried to focus on her tasks and avoid any unnecessary encounters with Stephen.
The air of the hospital was constantly charged with unspoken words and unresolved emotions; and the slightest interaction left both of the medical professionals on edge.
On one fateful day, while Y/n was basking in her lunch-break, the build up of the emotional strain proved too much. In the break-room, surrounded by the hum of vending machines and the distant chatter of her coworkers, Y/n collapsed.
Panicked voices echoed through the room as her coworkers rushed to her aid.
---
The current events of Stephen Strange's ex did not reach him until later on in the day, courtesy of one Christine Palmer, who had intercepted him in the bustling hallway.
"Stephen, have you gone to check on Ella? Something happened to her during her shift, and I haven't had to opportunity to see her yet," Christine whispered urgently, concern etched into her voice.
Stephen's brow furrowed in confusion. "What? No, I haven't. Is she alright?"
Christine briefly briefed him on the situation before she got paged to another emergency, prompting Stephen to abandon his current path and seek out Y/n.
When he found her, lying down in a quiet corner of the hospital, seemingly alright, the relief on his face was undeniable.
Slowly walking over to her, he brushed a stray hair out of her face. "What happened to you?" Concern prominent in his voice as he dragged a chair over.
With a flutter of her eyes and a shaky smile, Y/n greeted him. "Hey, Stephen. I don't really know what happened. I just felt incredibly dizzy, and then everything went black for a moment. I'm probably just dehydrated, I'm sure everything is fine."
Stephen raised his eyebrows, and his professional instincts kicked in. "People don't just faint for no reason, Y/n. I'm going to order a few tests to make sure."
Before calling in others, Stephen quickly did an examination, asking her about her symptoms and taking note of her vitals.
As Stephen focused on the exam, Y/n couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia. Their interactions were once filled with warmth and familiarity. Now, they were tainted by the awkwardness that hung in the air like a heavy cloud.
She was broken from her thoughts by Stephen's sigh of relief. "Physically, you seem find. I'm still getting other tests done to be thorough."
Y/n nodded, appreciating the concern emanating from her ex-lover. "Thanks, Stephen. I appreciate it."
---
It was probably about fourty-five minutes later when Stephen was given Y/n's test results. His eyes scanned the report, his expression changing from professional concern to surprise. Y/n, being curious and anxious about what he had seen, couldn't help up speak up.
"Stephen, what is it? What's on the report? Am I okay?" she pressed, her eyes searching his chiseled face for answers.
Taking a moment to compose himself, Stephen finally spoke, his voice a mix of disbelief and realisation. "Y/n, you're...pregnant."
Time seemed to still as the revelation hung in the air. Y/n's eyes widened, mirroring Stephen's astonishment. The awkwardness of their recent breakup was momentarily forgotten as they processed this unexpected twist of fate.
"Pregnant?" Y/n repeated, the word feeling foreign on her lips. "But we were careful?"
Stephen's mind raced, still processing the news. "Well, it seems we have to blame the twisted mind of the universe for this."

The sound of a loud crash from behind her sends Y/N spinning around to see her cart full of supplies tipped over and scattered across the ground, one of the nurses and her personal pain in the ass standing over it.
“Well well, what do we have here?” Joy chides with a smirk, looking at the mess then scribbling something down on the clipboard in her hands. “Not working very cleanly are you? Also left a tripping hazard right here. That’s not going to look good in the reports.”
“But I-” Y/N opens her mouth to argue but snaps it shut as Joy brings her pen back to the page.
“Are you looking for backtalk to a superior to be on this report too Y/N?”
“No,” she says quietly, glancing down at the mess at her feet.
“Good, then get fucking cleaning,” she snaps at her before heading off in the opposite direction.
Y/N sighs heavily and drops to her knees when a pair of familiar shoes comes into her field of vision.
Following his legs up, she gives her boyfriend Stephen a soft smile as he glares in the direction Joy went, “Does she always speak to you like that?”
“Stephen I swear it’s fine,” Y/N says as she starts gathering the supplies off the ground.
“It’s not fine,” he insists, crossing his arms. “She shouldn’t be speaking to you that way. And dumping your supplies on the floor and false reports? No Y/N.”
“Please just let it go,” she sighs and stares up at him with pleading eyes. “I don’t want it to become a whole thing…”
Stephen closes his eyes for a moment with his own sigh and nods before dropping down to his knees to help her clean up, “I’ll let it go this time, but if this continues or gets worse… tell me ok?”
“And let the lead neurosurgeon step in to defend a CNA against an asshole nurse?” she scoffs and flips the cart she had back up right.
He shakes his head and reaches out his hand to cup her jaw and run his thumb across her cheek, “You don’t deserve to be treated that way. Don’t let your position make you think you have to put up with this. If you need me to step in I will, or if you want to go to HR I will back you up, I’ve seen it.”
“I don’t deserve you,” she mutters, turning her head to rest in his palm and look up into his eyes.
“Yes you do,” he states firmly, pressing a searing kiss to her lips. “And you know I’ll remind you of that as many times in as many ways as you need.”
“Paging Doctor Strange to Surgical Ops,” a voice on the speaker interrupts them, followed by a loud buzzing on Stephen’s hip.
Making an annoyed noise, he leans into her briefly to press another kiss to her lips, “We’ll table this for now, but remember what I said alright?”
Climbing to his feet, he offers his hands to her to pull her up to him. “Go be a hero and save a life Doctor Strange,” she smiles and squeezes his hands.
“And you go make sure my patients make it through their recovery like you do?”
“Paging Doctor Strange to Surgical Ops.”
“Sounds urgent, you better go,” she muses as she loads her cart back up and gives him a reassuring smile. “I’ll be fine, I promise.”
“See you tonight then, at mine?” He asks hopefully.
“I’m all yours tonight,” she confirms and swings her cart around him to head toward her next patient. “Now you get to work.”
-
“This is wrapped horribly,” Joy states as she looks down at the wrapped wound in disgust. “Did you learn anything in your training?”
“Apologies, but you wrapped that patient last night because you thought I wouldn’t do it properly,” Y/N remarks, pulling a snort from the patient in question and earning a glare from Joy.
“It’s not professional to lie Y/N, take responsibility for your mistakes,” she seethes.
Running the comb through the patient’s wet hair, she bites the inside of her cheek and focuses on her task.
“She’s telling the truth, you wrapped it last night,” the patient finally breaks the silence after a moment. Joy’s pursed lips saying more than either of them have to say.
“After you’ve finished here Y/N, I’d like to speak with you at the nurses station,” she states sharply and walks out of the room.
“Did she seriously not even change it?” Y/N mutters under her breath, forcing a smile as the patient chuckles. “Pretend you didn’t hear that.”
“Bit of a high strung one isn’t she?” he asks as she moves toward the gauze on his arm.
“She’s an absolute delight to work with every day,” Y/N states through gritted teeth and sets to work on cleaning the wound.
Once she finished up with her patient, Y/N sets off toward the nurses station with a feeling of growing dread in her gut.
“There she is, the one involving a patient in our internal disputes,” Joy says with crossed arms. “That was completely and totally unprofessional Y/N.”
“I didn’t involve him, you falsely accused me of something and he corrected you. If you’re going to degrade me in front of a patient, you’re the one involving them in the conversation if they choose to join in.”
“If you could just do one thing right maybe this wouldn’t be an issue time and time again!”
Before Y/N can respond, she catches the sight of a head of dark hair with grey streaks slipping around the corner and she bites her tongue, gaze dropping to the floor.
“Is everything alright over here?” Stephen asks as he steps up to the nurses station, firmly planting himself beside Y/N. “I heard yelling.”
“Doctor Strange!” Joy greets him with an overly enthusiastic tone. “No nothing I can’t handle, just some trouble with one of our CNAs.”
“Oh?” He asks, and Y/N can feel his gaze on her.
“Seriously nothing you need to concern yourself with,” she smiles and slides in closer to him. “How is your day going?”
“No no, enlighten me, I’d like to know. Most of my patients are on this floor,” he states simply.
“Badly wrapping a wound, involving a patient in a dispute between us. And that’s just today,” she explains and clicks her tongue. “This one is a walking disaster.”
“We both told you that you wrapped the wound last,” Y/N insists once again, staring past Joy at the wall behind her as she clenches her fists.
“And now you’re going to bring our lead neurosurgeon into this? Like he doesn’t have better things to do than listen to you lie and bitch?” Joy snaps. “Get out of here and go… clean something or do something else useful. Heaven knows we could use some of that from you.”
Looking back to the ground to avoid Stephen’s gaze, Y/N heads off immediately toward her next task trying to blink away the tears threatening to break through.
As if it wasn’t bad enough she had to put up with the bullshit. Now Stephen’s seeming to become a regular witness of it all too.
Stepping into the nearby storage closet she takes a moment to catch her breath as her thoughts race and she stares at the stack of gauze in front of her.
She still wasn’t even sure how she managed to get Stephen’s attention in the first place. The man was a medical prodigy, and by far the heartthrob of the hospital. Young, brilliant, successful, attractive. It felt like he had everything going on.
Yet he had noticed her, and stopped her one day to pull her aside and insist she give him a chance to take her on a date. And the rest just sort of flowed from there.
She’d been the one to ask that they not tell their coworkers. The higher up places that needed to know knew, but those they interacted with she’d wanted to keep in the dark. She’d told him so things stayed professional. But the dark parts of her mind were worried if everyone knew, it would negatively impact him.
Especially with how Joy and her pack of jerks seemed to constantly be on her ass. The idea that could reflect badly on Stephen’s performance when he’d worked so damn hard and did all the right things to get there… she’d just rather they not know. Even if it meant enduring the inevitable flirting thrown his way.
But she also had hoped to hide that side of work from him. It was humiliating. And a part of her worried maybe the more he saw and heard it, the more he’d agree with them. That one day he’d see the same things they saw, and not waste his time with her anymore.
Taking a deep breath, she stepped back out of the supply closet, glancing around and sighing in relief to not see a certain nurse or neurosurgeon anywhere around.
-
Dropping her lunch box on the table in front of her, Y/N slips in her seat and glances up when she feels someone staring at her.
Stephen with his own lunch sits at the table across from her. Sending her a wink he indicates with his head toward the outside door.
Giving him a hesitant smile, she gets back to her feet to head toward him, stopping as a shrill voice interrupts her mid-step.
“I didn’t know you had your lunch now Doctor Strange!” Joy smiles and slides up to him, a hand on his arm.
“Oh, I was about to-” he tries to say before she grabs his bicep and pulls him back into his seat and sits beside him.
“I thought we could have lunch together,” she says sweetly, her fingers moving over the fabric on his arm. “Have you been working out more?”
Standing frozen in place with a bitter taste growing in the back of her throat, Y/N shifts from foot to foot unsure of where to go.
Glancing up from Stephen, Joy fixes her with a forced smile, “You weren’t going to sit here were you dear? Maybe you should go find someone closer to your pay range to sit with.”
“Alright, I’ve had enough,” Stephen huffs angrily, pulling his arm away from her.
“Pardon?”
“I’ve had enough of all the bullshit quite honestly,” he snaps and stands up.
“Stephen it’s alright…” Y/N tries to say but his sharp glare quiets her.
“I’m done with your elitist attitude like you think you’re some hotshot here and better than her because you have a higher position,” he states looking down at Joy who looks at him in shock.
“Excuse me? I think someone’s been lying to you. She,” she indicates at Y/N. “Is useless. I’m constantly going behind her to fix things. She never does anything right.”
“I’ve gone to check on patients immediately after she left and everything has been done properly.”
“A broken clock is right twice a day. But why are you even concerning yourself with the the daily tasks of a CNA Doctor?” She argues unhappily.
“Because I’m pissed off at the fact you think you have the right to harass my girlfriend on the grounds you think you’re better! It’s been going on far too damn long, and frankly it’s ridiculous.” He shouts, several other employees turning to look at the scene.
“I- girlfriend?” Joy asks looking between the two, eyes widening.
Stalking around the table, Stephen wraps an arm around Y/N’s waist and grabs his lunch from the table. Pressing a kiss to her temple he glares at Joy, “So cut the shit or you will be hearing from HR very soon, I’ve seen plenty with my own eyes to make a scathing report. And if you want to play the outranking game, we very much will.”
Joy goes pale at the threat, stammering out an apology before rushing from the cafeteria.
“What… what even just happened?” Y/N whispers as she glances around the room at all the eyes on them.
“Me defending my girlfriend,” he states simply and leads her toward the doors to the courtyard. “I’m sick of her shit, it’s not happening anymore.”
“I- I’m not even sure what to say,” she mutters but leans in closer to him as they walk.
“You don’t have to say anything, I’m doing my job,” he chuckles and places his lunch on one of the outdoor tables and takes a seat. “But seeing as the secret is out anyways…”
Stephen pats his lap and looks up at her hopefully.
Shaking her head with a grin, she laughs loudly and sets her own lunch down before taking a seat on his lap. His arm quickly slips around her waist and his chin rests on her shoulder.
“I’m going to want this from now on I hope you know,” he says as she feeds him a carrot stick.
“To be hand-fed?”
“To recharge,” he mumbles and buries his face against her neck for a moment. “Just holding you for a few minutes gives me more energy than you can imagine.”
“You know you just have to find me, I’m always willing to give you a hug babe.”
“And now that we don’t have to hide anything, I’m going to take advantage of that fact more. Stop by for a hug from you, glare at Joy to remind her she’s on thin fucking ice, then get back to work.”
Picking at her own lunch, she leans back into his chest, “Thank you Stephen.”
“Anything for you,” his free hand drifts up her arm and he presses a kiss to her cheek. “No one, and I mean no one, talks to you that way. You don’t deserve that, no one does. Your job is just as important and valid as anyone else in this building.”
“Perhaps not as important as yours,” she teases and steals a bite of his sandwich before holding it up to his mouth.
“Someone has to take care of the patients after I’m done with them, I might save their lives but if they’re not getting quality care afterwards they’re not going to make it,” he says seriously and takes a bite. “Don’t let some asshole convince you otherwise.”
Slightly turning in his grip, she looks up into his determined eyes that go soft as they glance down at her, “You somehow always know the right thing to say with this kind of thing.”
“A gift,” he chuckles and winks at her.
“You’ve also got food on your face,” she comments and swipes her thumb across his lip to wipe it away.
Before she can pull her hand away, he reaches up to grip her wrist and sucks it off her thumb. “Minimizing food waste,” he teases and leans in closer to her.
“Oh, is that what you’re calling it?”
“Mhm, and I think you might have some on you too. Just let me take care of that for you…” he whispers against her lips and captures them with his own.

coffee for two | stephen strange
pariring: surgeon!stephen strange x fem!reader
summary: doctor stephen strange takes a sudden interest in the new barista on the first floor of the hospital.
warnings: none just fluff!
word count: 0.9k
a/n: this idea has been floating around in my head all day so here it is! my little contribution to neurosurgeon strange content <3
Tumblr media
doctor stephen strange had never been a major coffee connoisseur nor had he ever made it a part of his daily routine to stop at a coffee shop every morning for an overpriced cup of simple coffee that he could easily get from the break room, let alone something as sugary sweet and full of milk that he’s seen the nurses upstairs carrying in trays and passing out to the others. but once he caught a glimpse of the new barista behind the counter, he thought he would give the overpriced coffee a try just to get a closer look at the pretty little thing with the brilliant smile and bright eyes.
as he approached the counter, you quickly perked up and offered a kind smile as if you haven’t caught wind of his less than pleasant personality and arrogant air about him that the other employees continuously gossiped about.
“good morning!” you greeted brightly. “what can i get for you today?”
he couldn’t help but return your smile, too lovely and contagious to be ignored. “what do you recommend?”
“well, that all depends on whether you lean more towards sweet or bitter, but personally, i usually go for the brown sugar shaken espresso.”
“great, i’ll get one of those and an iced americano.”
“excellent choice,” you said with a nod. “i’ll get that started for you. what’s the name for your order?”
“it’s strange.”
you had a bewildered look upon your face as you pondered his statement. “surely it’s not that strange of a name. i’ve heard just about everything.”
he choked back a laugh at the misunderstanding, having heard it more times than he could count. “no, sweetheart,” he said gently. “my name is strange. doctor strange.”
your eyes widened. “oh, my mistake! sorry about that,” you said, gaze lowering to the two cups in your hand as you wrote out his name, embarrassment written all over your features.
“it’s all right. happens all the time,” he said, handing you his black amex card and watching as you swiped it through the machine and typed away on the screen before passing it back to him, your fingers lightly brushing against his and sending a jolt of warmth through him that felt like he had been dipped in sunlight.
he returned the card to his wallet and accepted the iced americano from you, leaving the other drink on the counter. “have a nice day,” he said pleasantly and then glanced down at your name tag, “y/n,” he added, loving how the syllables tasted on his tongue, before making his way back to the stairwell that led to the clinical floor.
“wait,” you called out. “you forgot your other drink.”
he turned back to you, walking backwards while keeping his eyes on you. “that one’s for you, sweetheart,” and shot you a wink, feeling a wave of pleasure snake through him at seeing the way your face lit up in pure surprise and elation at his unexpected gift.
and so the routine continued, every day for two weeks, he stopped by the little coffee shop to place his usual order: an iced americano for him and a brown sugar shaken espresso for you.
in that amount of time, he had learned that you had the sweetest disposition and a killer sense of humor, easily keeping up with him and his wry jokes. he also learned that you were still in college, barely making ends meet as you were in the final stretch of earning your master’s degree, working early shifts during the day that nobody else wanted and taking classes at night.
“what time do you get off?” he asked you one morning.
you seemed unfazed by the sudden inquiry, undoubtedly used to his daily questions by now. “five o’clock.”
“perfect. i’ll be done with my rounds by then. why don’t i take you to dinner?”
“oh,” was all you said.
he chuckled. “is that all right? or would you rather get a coffee? preferably one that you didn’t have to make,” he added.
a crease formed between your brows, your face twisted in confusion. “really? are you sure?”
“why wouldn’t i be?”
“you just… don’t seem like the type who would go for underpaid, average-looking baristas slash college students.”
“who said you were average-looking?”
you bit your lip. “well, nobody. but… i’m not really dressed for dinner,” you said, looking down disapprovingly at your uniform.
his lips quirked up on one side. “neither am i, sweetheart,” he replied, referring to his dark blue scrubs, “but we’ll make it work. can i pick you up here once your shift is over?”
you nodded and offered him a shy smile, something he was becoming comfortably familiar with, loving how you quickly looked away before peeking up at him beneath your lashes.
god, he was already so smitten with you. how did that happen? the effect you had on him was unlike any other, so sweet and so endearing, it felt like sugary syrup had replaced the blood that ran through his veins.
“okay, doctor strange.”
“stephen is fine,” he corrected. “you can call me stephen. i’ll be back at five o’clock, okay?”
“okay,” you replied softly, “stephen.”
he loved the way his name sounded on your lips, craving to hear it again and again.
“enjoy your coffee,” he said in parting, tilting his head toward the coffee he bought for you before climbing up the steps to get to his rounds, hoping the day would slip by quickly so he could see you again.

Can't forget about you.
Wanda Maximoff x reader
Summary: You wake up in a hospital room knowing nothing about yourself. No name, no age, no family. You can't remember anything. Except for one thing. One person. Her.
Words: 1816
A/N: Soo this is the first chapter of my first series, the summary sucks but i hope you like it! Also thanks for your follows, I really appreciate your comments and reblogs! Still figuring out this app but thank you!
------------
Chapter 1
CHAPTER 1 / CHAPTER 2
First thing you see: Black.
Your eyes are closed and slowly you regain consciousness. The sounds around you start to pound in your head. A very high-pitched, rhythmic beep and multiple voices a little far away.
You open your eyes but the light is too bright and makes you shut them again. The beep sound starts to sound faster.
Your throat is dry and your hands and legs feel numb. You make another try on open your eyes slower this time. A blurry figure is in front of you, it seems to move but you can't focus your vision to see who it is. You groan and the person in front of your notice your awakening.
- Oh God! - you hear them say - Your awake - You seem to notice is a feminine voice.
You can see more clearly now and you move your head to see your surroundings. It's all white and you notice some machines around you.
- Are you feeling okay? Let me go get the doctor, don't worry I'll be right back.
Without saying anything more the woman un front of you leaves the room and you blink a couple of times to final focus your sight.
You clear your throat and cough a little of how dry your mouth is. Finally, catching what the woman just said, you realize what is that place. Let me go get the doctor.
You're in a hospital.
In that moment a man in a white coat enters the room and walks straight to you.
- Hello young lady, I'm doctor Simon DeLuca - he says gently - Right now I'm the doctor in charge of you and I'm going to make some questions and test to validate your health state okay? - he questions but you're confuse about it - Please just nod if you can understand what I just said - the doctor tries again and this time you nod in affirmation - Good - he answers and gives you a smile.
The nurse on your rigth begins to check on an iPad and answers what the doctor ask her about: your vital signs, your blood pressure and oxygen.
- Okay miss, I'm going to check on your eyes to see that everything is functioning normal okay - he says and you nod again - Can you tell me what is your name? - he asks as you follow a ligth in front of you.
You try to think about it but all in your mind is black. You want to answer but you can't seem to remember anything. Not even you're name.
- No - you finally say and the doctor stops for a second.
- You can't remember it? - he asks again.
You shake your head and he takes a deep breath.
- Okay, now please open your right hand - he request and you obey.
- Water, can I have some water? - you say softly.
- Yeah sure, Lilah bring some water and food, and did you call Mr. Stark? - he talks to the nurse.
- Yes, he's on his way - she says.
- Great, thanks.
Doctor DeLuca asks you to do some more test and you can even take some steps.
- Can you remember how you ended up here? - he asks you but can't answer.
- No doctor.
- Can you tell me if you have any family, your mom, your dad or perhaps a brother or sister?
You're start to feel irritated with the questions. You can't remember anything before waking up, not even your own face.
- No doctor.
He stares at you for a second before getting interrupted by a knock on the door.
- Dr. DeLuca Mr. Stark is here along with Mr. Stephen Strange and Mr. Steve Rogers - the nurse says and three men walk in the room.
- Good afternoon gentlemen - the doctor speaks standing to shake hands with the men - As you can see, we have some news for you and your team.
- Good afternoon doctor - the blonde man says - Thanks for calling.
- It's my duty Captain, but before you talk with her I want to talk with you first, about her health condition.
The three men accept and they walk out.
- I'll be right back, eat something please - Dr. DeLuca says and you nod.
The nurse brings you food and she stays with you while you eat.
- Excuse but who are they? - you ask her.
- Well you'll find it out soon, but they are here for you - she says handing you the Jell-O on the tray.
You nod and just eat. Your mind is empty but a total mess at the same time. You want to remember something but nothing pops out. When you try harder you kind of can see something. Someone. The face is blurry but the red hair of that person comes to your mind.
- When you finish your juice please take this pills, okay? - the nurse says and you nod.
After some minutes Dr. DeLuca is back along the men and the nurse smiles at you one last time before taking your tray of food and walk out the room.
- How are you feeling? - the doctor asks.
- I'm fine, thank you - you answer and he nods.
- I want to introduce you some people, they are here for you, because they care about you - the doctor tells you and he points to the men in front of you.
A tall man with black hair with white stripes on each side, a blonde tall one and a shorter man with blackish hair and sunglasses.
- They are Mr. Stephen Strange, Mr. Steve Rogers and Mr. Tony Stark
You wave at them and they wave back at you except for Mr. Stephen Strange, who just stares at you.
- Excuse me but, who are you? - you ask shyly.
The men look at each other and then at the doctor.
- They are here because they brought you here a few days ago - he says.
You feel a little relieved hearing that.
- Are you my family? - you ask again but the sudden change on their faces worries you.
The blonde man clears his throat and he walks to your side.
- No, we're not, but we know you Y/N - he says.
Y/N. Is that your name?
He notices your confusion and talks again.
- Your name is Y/N - he says - You can call me Steve.
You don't know him but you can instantly feel trust towards him. He seems nice.
- Thanks Steve - you say - My name is Y/N... Y/N - you speak out loud - Do you know who am I? - you ask Steve, but he looks up to the other men.
Dr. DeLuca gets in the conversation.
- Listen Y/N, these men brought you here four days ago because you had an accident and fell in a coma. This is the New York Hospital and I'm Doctor DeLuca. I've been taking care of your case and keeping these people updated. Besides your first name they know nothing about you either and they are here today because they want to know more about who you are - he explains.
Wow. That was a lot to process.
- So you just know my name? What kind of accident did a have?
- Well that's a conversation we can have in another moment, we'd like to know about you, actually - now the man with the sunglasses tells you - Oh you can call me Tony by the way - taking off his glasses he smiles at you.
- Thanks Tony but I don't think i can tell you much about me, I can't remember anything - you say
- Yeah we know, Dr. DeLuca told us but we were expecting that by now you could've, maybe... You know, remembered something - he says
You look at him and then think about the red hair you remember. Maybe you should tell him.
- No pressure Y/N, we just want to help - Steve says.
- Well, actually, before you walked into the room again I saw something in my mind - you tell them.
- Okay, what did you saw? - Dr. DeLuca asks.
You keep silence for a second.
- Well, it's more like someone. The face is blurry but it looks like a woman, with red hair - you say and everybody seems to hold their breath.
- A redhead? - Mr. Stephen Strange talks suddenly after being in complete silence - What else did you saw?
You feel intimidate, he looks angry.
- Strange - Rogers says - Give her some space.
- She's talking now, this process needs to be quick Captain - he responds severely.
- What process? - you ask scared, that man wasn't like Rogers at all.
Strange gives you one last glance before going back to the corner he was before talking.
- Don't care about that, it's just a term, now why don't you tell me more about that redhead you remember - Steve tells you.
You doubt about saying more, even though Steve and Tony look friendly Mr. Strange looks angry.
- Y/N, know that these men are trustful and they are here only to help you - Dr. DeLuca says.
You hesitate a bit more but begin to speak again.
- Well I don't know who this woman is but her presence it's the only thing remember, the only thing I get to see whenever i look inside my mind - you tell them.
- Wanda - Tony says in a whisper.
- Tony! - Steve scolds him and Stark covers his mouth with his hands.
- Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to... Sorry - he apologizes.
But your mind...
Wanda Maximoff
Your head completes the name that slips out the man mouth.
- Wanda Maximoff - you say without thinking.
Everyone looks at you astonished.
- Do you remember who Wanda Maximoff is? - Strange talks to you again.
You shake your head.
- No, no but the name popped on my head - you say, your breathing is becoming heavier, it's kind of difficult to breath properly for you now.
Strange sighs frustrated.
- Do you know who she is? - you now ask them, your voice is shaking.
They don't answer for a couple of seconds and Dr. DeLuca takes the word.
- Y/N, the name Wanda Maximoff, does it tell you something about the girl? Like, something else besides her hair?
The beep on the monitor starts to sound faster. Your pulse is racing. Your head is spinning and images of the girl appear in your mind.
She has green eyes, now you can see it. You notice her smile, she smiles at you. A laugh echoes in your ear.
Y/N...
Her voice.
- Okay, please breath Y/N, calm down - Dr. DeLuca says - You need to breath.
- I can't - you say crying. You're having a panic attack.
- Maybe we should call Wanda - Tony says to the other two men.
- No Tony, she's is the one responsible for this, we can't let her get close to Y/N - Strange tells him firmly.
- Gentlemen, please, don't argue now - Dr. DeLuca says.
You stop hearing your surroundings after that and your sight becomes blurry again. The last thing you see is the nurse coming inside the room and the doctor putting the oxygen mask on you, but you faint.

Note
I have another request to ask and idk if I want it to be stephen strange or zuko so you choose your pick lmao
Reader whose sleep deprived and gets super giggly and makes awful jokes/pickup lines but then messes it up badly. Tripping on stuff in their shared bedroom in the dark
Totally not based off of a video I recorded when I was sleep deprived.... i walked into the room like "you awake?" "Unfortunately" and then tried saying that stupid pickup line of someone being a meal but instead it came out as "who (wheezes) who needs a meal. Who-wh- who. Who needs dinner when you got a whole ass meal in your bed" proceeds to trip and faceplant
Pairing: Dr. Stephen Strange x Reader Rating || Genres || Warnings: T. Romance. None. A/N: Okay, but I had the perfect idea for this for Dr. Strange and I couldn't help writing this :3
Tumblr media
The car lurched to a stop, prompting you to nearly fall forward from where you had been dozing against the window of the cab. Mumbling incoherently under your breath, you quickly fumbled with the cash, paying the driver the required amount before stepping out of the vehicle.
Your feet ached with every step. You had just come off a nearly sixty hour shift at the hospital, during which you had barely had any time to sleep. Whatever caffeine you had ingested had long since worked out of your system and now you could feel your body beginning to crash.
Though it seemed to still effect your system as you stumbled into the Sanctum, the doors locking automatically behind you. Dragging yourself up the stairs, you managed to reach your room and stepped in.
Dropping your bag on a table beside the door, you shoved off your shoes, almost tripping over your own feet. The act prompted you to giggle to yourself, and given that it was dark, you very nearly took down the small table next to you.
"Oh, I'm sorry." You managed to slur to the inanimate object as your phone pinged with a message once it connected to the wifi. "Shh..." You shushed the device. "Not so loud, Stephen's sleeping." You whispered to the phone as you managed to put the device on silent. However your fumbling around in the dark was enough to rouse your fiancée, who slowly sat up, blinking away the sleep in his eyes as he switched on the side lamp.
You blinked at the sudden light, a smile brightening your face as you waved at the half-naked man asleep in the bed. "Hi honey." You managed to work the words out despite the huge yawn that had you muffling them with a hand to your mouth. Stephan glanced at the clock. "You're still awake?" He asked as you walked over to your drawer and began rooting through the jumbled clothes inside to try and find something to wear for the night.
You hummed. "Unfortunately." Finding a shirt, you held it up in a triumphant gesture, prompting Stephen to smile at you as you began to remove your clothes en route to the bathroom, throwing the garments behind you as you went. Normally you would pick them up, but once you stepped out after washing up a little, you merely stepped over the clothes, kicking your shirt out of the way as you went. Stephen was still up, having started to read some sort of book while he waited for you.
Another huge yawn, one you didn't bother covering, echoed in the room as Stephen watched you fumble with the charger for your phone. "You need to stop volunteering yourself for unnecessary shifts." You shook your head. "They needed all the nurses Stephen. Some major car pile up on the highway." You explained as you moved to down an entire glass of water.
You head was still swimming with the combination of sleep deprivation and copious amounts of coffee as you stood there smiling dopely at the Sorcerer Supreme. "I think its best that you get in bed now. I can bring you something to eat if you'd like?" He moved as if he were about to stand, but a quick shake of your head had him stopping.
"Who would want something to eat with you in the bed?" Your words were slurred and almost incoherent as you tried to take a step towards the bed.
Try being the keyword here.
It didn't help that your feet got tangled in the very shirt you had kicked away and you fell to the floor face first. The impact had you groaning in pain as you immediately felt Stephen beside you, helping you up.
"Woops. I fell." You mumbled as he looked over you, making sure you hadn't hurt yourself. Stephen hummed. "Yes, you did. Perhaps its time you sleep then." You pouted. "Nooooo......." You moaned, throwing your head back and allowing yourself to slump against your lover. "No sleep. Want sexy time."
A deep chuckle sounded in the room as the man looked down at your pouting lip and wide pleading eyes with an affectionate smile. "I'll make you a deal. Lie down in bed and start reciting the Hippocratic Oath. If you get through the whole thing, we'll do whatever you want." He was referring to the oath every physician took, and though you would probably recite the short version, he knew you wouldn't be able to get through it.
You giggled. "Ooooooooo bringing a little doctor-nurse roleplay into the bedroom? Didn't know you preferred it that way Stephen." Standing up with his help, you climbed into bed, flopping down on your side with a loud moan. "God bless the person who invented mattresses." You mumbled as you snuggled deeper into the softness.
Stephen climbed in next to you as you turned your head so you could look at him. You shifted to settle against his side as his finger gently stroked through your hair.
Your lips began to mumble the oath, but with each passing word your eyes drooped heavily and sleep beckoned you, until finally, not even half done with the first sentence, you were fast asleep.
Stephen grinned. You would definitely be annoyed at having fallen for his trick to get you to sleep, but he knew you would appreciate him getting you to sleep. You could be a little irrational when sleep-deprived.
But seeing you act like you did a few minutes ago? It would all be worth it.

Promise Me | Doctor Strange x Gn!Reader
Tumblr media
a/n - At the time of writing this note I am yet to see Multiverse of Madness, which means spoiler free! I was watching Benedict’s SNL and came up with the Idea of this. Edit: I have seen DSMOM and I wrote this, I love him. Still spoiler free!
Warnings - Fluff, Fluff, Fluff, cursing, slightly suggestive, and a mention of blood. I’m sorry if I haven’t got them all!
Paring - Stephen Strange x Gn!Reader
It was another late night. He wasn’t there yet you started getting cold as your legs dangled off the side of a building. You were at your favorite place to stargaze with Stephen, he had said he planned a date, he said he would be there in an hour. It’s been three hours and no sign of the Doctor. Busy Stephen Strange should have been his title, not doctor. You started growing nervous and angry until your phone buzzed. You knew Stephen was probably only late due to saving the world, and whatever else needed saving. You picked up your phone hoping that Busy Stephen Strange would become Doctor Stephen Strange once more.
Amore Mio 💙: Sorry I’ll be running a little late. There was an incident.
(y/n): It’s alright, maybe tonight isn’t the best night?
Amore Mio 💙: Typing…
You got up carefully bringing your legs back from resting over the ledge, the daring night breeze brushing over them once more. You grabbed your blanket starting to mumble to yourself, things about Doctor “late on every date” Strange but you were glad to know he was okay and safe.
“Hello.” His voice was slightly hoarse, which made it deeper. More intimidating, more… daring. One you would typically want to mess around with, you already created a plan which stirred in your brain. He had been dressed in his best suit and that stirred your plan even further, the imagery of Stephen shirtless with his arms wrapped around you on the balcony with nothing but the night sky keeping you comfortable. Lucky enough the place you both loved to stargaze was an abandoned lot on old Stark property private to anyone who wasn’t an Avenger, also lucky enough you both were.
“I’m surprised you made it.”
“I brought wine.” Stephen looked at you, the person he got to wake up to every morning. He had a look in his eyes which proved he was sorry he wasn’t any earlier.
“And I assume that's what took the longest?” You quipped to Stephen; you forgave him. You wouldn’t have made it this far in the relationship if you didn’t forgive him for being late. He was the Master of the Mystic Arts who no longer had the time stone.
“Either it was the wine or saving New York. I lost track of which one took the longest.” He chuckled, you noticed a gash on his forehead. Your caretaker instincts kicked in. You were once a nurse, one the Avengers took pride in. One of the best in New York as some might say, only  fitting you got the man with the PHD and MD.
“You're bleeding.”
“It wouldn’t be healthy if I wasn’t.” Stephen set down the bottle of wine on the table staring at you with the eyes of a man who just wanted to be in his lover's company. A smirk crossed his lips as he took out his phone typing. You pulled out your phone when it buzzed expecting it to be Wong saying something inconvenient but it was Stephen.
Amore Mio 💙: I may be late for a date, but I haven’t ever missed one unless I had no control over the situation. I love you forever. I have a little something planned to say sorry. If you let me show up, because I know your mind isn’t always kind to you.
“Stephen Vincent Strange.. You romantic man.” You put your phone on the table next to Stephen’s. He took it as an opportunity to grab your hand and hold you near to him, he started swaying with you slowly and in circles. He loved you and in the rare moments he got you to himself and didn’t have to be saving the world he could show it, fully. There was music low and classically romantic coming from his phone. You swayed with him, your head on his shoulder as he hummed the lyrics to That’s Amore by Dean Martin. Whoever said that man could not fall in love with the same person more than twice was lying. This was proof.
“I love you.” You spoke into his neck, softly kissing his exposed skin. He smiled, tucked your hair behind your ear and kissed your cheek. He moved his hand that was on your hip to under your chin and stared into your eyes. He couldn't help himself, his light blue eyes twinkled in the candle light. He kissed you, just a peck. He was taken off guard when you kissed him back nevertheless he still kissed back, he was thankful for you.
“I love you too, (y/n).” He whispered in your ear he was thankful for this moment. One he would be able to share with you, this moment so rare for him in the path he was set upon. The fact he has someone who loves him for him, his personality not his title, the insecurities even his little ones, someone who loves him more than he can love himself at times. He had an idea, maybe one he could act on as the night progresses, depending on your mood. He wanted to show you how much he truly loved you, how much he really brought himself home every time he was near you, and how through the years he learned that home isn't material. It was irreplaceable, something you could hold, and something you could break but someone you didn’t want to do either too.
“Stephen?”
“Hm?” He was there completely but let his guard down, he trusted you. The Sorcerer had his soft spots and you knew all of them.
“Do you want some wine?” You asked. You didn’t want to leave his hands, his warmth. Both of his hands removed themselves from your hips.
“Yeah.” He moved to pull your chair out for you and waited for you to sit down before he sat down pouring you a glass before he poured himself one. He casted a simple spell to make bread and butter appear. You lost yourself once again in his eyes, your hand subconsciously searching for his. You couldn’t help the smile that formed on your face as he rubbed his thumb over yours. After the wine and bread, the casual discussion that broke out between you two. He created a small portal that let him grab something that you couldn’t quite see.
“(y/n) (y/l/n), you know I’m not a man of romantic speeches but that doesn’t stop me from trying.” He chuckled nervously, he put the box on the table. The box was too long to be a ring you knew Stephen wouldn’t propose yet, he would make a major deal out of it. Some high end restaurant in some other city in some other country, he would do it because he would want it to be special, you know him.
“I’m often a pain in your ass, or my own. Keeping you safe from the monsters of the world, not letting myself have a break, and sometimes I can be.. A sarcastic disaster, a mess, broken and bloody. You mend me, you save me, you keep me going. I had it specially made with a piece of something I hold.” He couldn’t help himself, he didn’t know how to finish his speech without messing up, so he kept it. Typically, he’s smart as hell, quick to think but when it comes to you he could never think of the right things to say. He opened the box as you looked at him, taking time to process that this man in front of you, Doctor Stephen Strange, is practically promising himself to you through a necklace. You could already tell he used something that if Wong found out he would give Stephen shit for it. Maybe a relic, or maybe some spell he put on it, you weren't sure. All plans you and Stephen thought of went out of the window as you just wanted to spend time with each other in this romantic setting you’ve made for each other.
