still having thoughts on how during a single Lord of the Rings-coded conversation that q!Cellbit pulled q!Bad over to have at 3 am, truckloads of secret information got passed between them

Bad learned that Cellbit is basically still under blackmail by the Federation and is getting hands on some very important info- but the Federation wants all of it and is closely observing him. They are ordering him to get info on people/places, but don’t get it twisted, Cellbit is telling as many lies as possible to avoid others getting into danger. He loves everyone and wanted Bad to understand that will never change, anything he does with the Federation is only acting. Info he gets he can only imply and not say directly. Cellbit’s also aware Bad is an ancient entity & respects his knowledge, which is why he’s even telling all this (of course he knows they fought in wars together)

And Cellbit knows that he can rely on Bad to understand the real situation, especially if it gets more dangerous now that he’s getting tons of new missions. Bad won’t pry into it, but will be sure to keep an eye on him in case something happens & also reassured Cellbit that he has nothing to worry about, which honestly must be a relief bc our employee of the month over here was worried

Do you think Eureka would be suitable for a story where PCs are agents for 1 of 2-3 political rivals? Are there any mechanics in the game that you think would lend themselves well to the kinds of political intrigue and campaigning the story would involve?

As much as I love saying that our game is good for certain things, I have to admit that it has no mechanics for political intrigue beyond its existing mechanics for mystery intrigue (which are extensive). In the rules itself, we say that the PCs are not supposed to be agents of any larger organization rules-as-written, but we do give a few pieces of advice for how to do it if you want to buck that rule and use Eureka for your secret agent game.

From our experience it does do *undercover spies* pretty well, despite having no rules-as-written mechanics for the party being supported by state resources. This is probably because being an undercover spy is not 100% different from being an amateur detective. You’re trying to carefully uncover secret information, without drawing too much attention to yourself. The difference is just who you’re working for and who you’re trying to conceal your identity from.

However, @horseabortion69 I know is working on some kind of secret agent centric sci-fi adventure meant to work with Eureka, and I implore her to share more about it on this post.

this is (part of) a scene from my fic “limerence - iterum” that comes a bit later in the story but i was too excited to write it so i did :p obvi tentative (and a bit rushed oops) since im not at that part yet, so it might change as i go on, but enjoy :)

“You said it yourself, Neji.” Her voice was gentle, resigned. It held none of that anger he’d expected—hoped for. She released a short, humourless laugh, her voice lowering into a gentle whisper, as if pointing out an unmistakable truth, “We can’t be friends.” “Tenten.” His voice was pained. Desperate. Imploring. Her face softened, if infinitesimally, and those beautiful brown eyes gazed into his with so much ill-concealed longing he was ready to get on his knees and beg. Beg for her forgiveness. Plead with her to give them another chance. To forget he ever said those senseless words. He was ready to get on his knees and repent ceaselessly like he were a wicked sinner and she his altar. Her brows pulled into a soft frown, and she faintly shook her head. “I'm too much for you,” she said in a broken whisper, almost desperately. He didn't know who she was trying to convince of this—himself or her. “I don't” —she looked away, swallowed— “I don't regret you, Neji. And I can only hope you think back fondly on what we had, because—” Her voice wavered, broke, and she took a shuddering breath to compose herself, her eyes going skyward to stop the tears collecting on her waterline from flowing.

as much as i want to know the answers i think it's a brilliant piece of storytelling for curt to kill owen (who wanted secrets to cease to exist) and then keep curt's next actions a complete secret from the audience
