I'm not able to go to Spy Another Day, but I've been working on this Spies Are Forever wood segmentation piece off and on since the tinlightenment campaign back in February. I swore to myself I'd get it done before the LA Spies show, and I just barely made it! I absolutely cannot wait to watch the digital ticket for this
This show has meant so much to me. It has gotten me through a few very difficult months, and I can't wait to hang this on the wall of my workshop and be reminded of a thing that inspires me.
The backer board is 3/8" red oak plywood, "Forever" is cut out of 3/8" baltic birch plywood, the "spies are" is 1/4" baltic birch plywood, and the cityscape is 1/8" marine plywood. The figures are 3/8" baltic birch, the shape of each color is cut out individually, sanded, painted, and put back together like a puzzle.

As someone who loves both Curtwen and Crossnamara: I swear they're not just the same ship in different settings.
I firmly believe that if nothing had happened to Wilbur, Crossnamara would be happily married with a nice house and a dog and a family, taking the kids on hikes and just being like, two amazing dads for the price of one.
But if Curt had never dropped that banana skin, Curtwen would still be divorced. Probably even several times, with multiple affairs and petty arguments along the way. And they'd be absolutely terrible parents without a LOT of therapy.

My friend mentioned an idea for a reverse soulmates AU where the name of the person you're destined to kill slowly becomes a more visible scar on your arm AND IMAGINE THAT WITH CURTWEN???? He'd obviously never tell Owen he's destined to kill him and I think Curt would believe he could change his fate and he fails. TWICE.
I'm kinda obsessed with this at the moment and might write something for it because the angst would be magnificent.
