Philza looks better in his usual clothes, Bad thinks, but still terrible. Perched on a lamp between his children's beds, a blanket pulled tight across his shoulders, sleep deprivation in his eyes... Bad is not really surprised he has called someone to speak to, just is confused as to why its him.
Bad has better things to do. Like look for the eggs. And search for the eggs. And interrogate Federation Workers about the eggs.
But then, Philza also has better things to do than just sit there and stare at him.
So Bad stares back.
Eventually, eventually, Philza breaks the stalemate and speaks.
"What do you know of dreams?"
Bad raises an eyebrow at the comment, unsure what that could lead to, and even more confused as to why it was him called here to handle this.
In the end, he settles for the simplest answer. "People have them when they sleep."
Philza hums in return, eyes skittering a little frantically. He adjusts his position to be a little higher, but holds himself lower, peering down, "… you know my wife, yes?"
Now there is a loaded question. Bad tilts his head to one side.
"Kristin."
"Yes," Bad answers, seeing no reason to hide it now. Part-time grim reaper, Goddess of Death... Of course her husband knows something. "I work for her, on occasion."
"And you would kill anyone - myself, yourself - if we were a threat to the eggs?"
"Yes."
"Even Skeppy?"
Bad's nose twitches, warning in his tone. "He's not /here/, Philza."
Philza gives Bad an unimpressed look.
"If he was /somehow/ a threat to Dapper? Yes. Happy?"
Somehow Philza looks like he both tenses and relaxes at that answer. He moves as though to sit on the lamp he is perching on, before realising what he is doing and slipping onto the mossy floor.
"I had a dream while I was asleep," Philza says instead of answering the question. "But, the longer I am awake, the less like a dream it seems."
"Dreams usually work the other way," Bad frowns, checking his evidence in his mind. He does not really know much - Philza was missing for nine days, claims to have been asleep and woke up in his basement, and a potato and a poppy appeared on his person in that time. Bad suspects the Federation has done something to the old crow, probably made him some sort of sleeper agent, but… If Philza is willing to trust him, Bad supposes he can give him the benefit of the doubt and assume any betrayal is unwilling.
"I remember it too well," Philza replies, and Bad frowns some more - it is the opposite reaction most people have to the Federation. "I don't usually remember my dreams, or have them that vivid, or have space so perfect in them. I laughed it off to Tubbo, pretended I usually have dreams like that, but… Even my dreams of my world are not as clear as that."
"And you were left with the potato and the poppy after," Bad keeps his voice level. He tries very hard to keep his voice level as his mind runs away, wondering what is up. "You don't usually wake up in the basement either?"
"I should wake up where I fall asleep," Philza points at the chair. "I sat down, I told myself I wouldn't spend a night anywhere else until the eggs were back. I dreamt. I woke up in the basement."
There's something a bit distant to Philza's voice which Bad does not like, but does not like in the way of children crying in their rooms, or the thought of Baghera alone in the Federation's hands, or the silence which now reigns over his dungeon-home. He does not like it in ways of betrayal and pain and fire, either, but he is old. He knows better how to deal with those.
"… Are you not going to ask me?" Philza asks.
"Do I need to?" Bad asks back.
It must be the correct answer, as Philza gives a laugh.
"In the maybe-dream, I woke up in the chair," Philza says, pointing towards it. "The trapdoor was gone - it might have been when I went to bed, too, but the memory is hazy."
Interesting, Bad would say. He half remembers the trap door being missing on Monday as well, when he went to check on Chayanne and Tallulah's beds, but in not paying attention… It was there by Saturday, so Bad really is not sure either if he made that up.
"I thought I heard a sound in the basement, so I went to look. There was a box with two new pot plants, one on each side. The box was… one of those new ones, like Toby has on his burnt up platform? The dyeable ones - it was Tallulah's purple. Inside were a lot of poppies, and a book."
"A book?"
"Right," Philza frowns as he talks, sinking deeper into the mossy floor. "I don't remember exactly what it said, but it was about an old crow whose children were missing. I thought… I think I thought it was Tallulah sassing me - you know how it is - for not being here when they hurt… At the end was an instruction to travel light, and a set of coordinates."
It sounds like a trap. Bad doesn't say that - he knows Philza must know that, but he also knows that if he saw something written maybe by Dapper… Bad wouldn't hesitate to do what it said. Not a chance, not when his child might need him. So, Bad doesn't say anything, he just nods.
"Do you know my nest?" Philza asks, almost out of the blue.
"Your nest?" Bad blinks, trying to string it together.
Philza is already moving for the nearby warp access. "I'll leave a red sharestone. If you walk to spawn, it'll be ready by the time you get there. You should probably have it, just… bring anyone else. Not even Dapper - the eggs bought Tubbo, but nobody else knows. It's our safe place. But… nowhere's really safe. And I can't always be there to save them."
It's a branch of trust that Bad has been offered, one he isn't sure he deserves but is absolutely not going to turn down. If Philza's children like it then, yes, he needs to know. In case they are ever hurt there, in case one of the children needs their uncle Bad.
He walks the shirt distance to spawn, chewing over so far. It's not hard to work out why Philza is in a spin, but Bad is missing some of the puzzle. He hates having half of an answer more than none at all, but at least he seems to be getting everything about /this/ question the old bird knows.
Sure enough, by the time he has worked out which of the sharestones Philza meant by the red one, there's another option just reading 'bad uppies?'.
It's kinda funny, and funnier still when he takes it and ends up… up. High in the sky, so high he can see the peaks of great pillars of stone, and the top of a fortress-dungeon, but not the floor.
"Take the warpstone," Philza gestures to the centre as he puts the sharestone away. "Just in case."
"Just in case," Bad repeats.
The warpstone is itself called 'uppies', and it is a nest that is not quite a nest. It is suspended in the air, not in a tree, and made of harsh stone not twigs. A few bits of furniture are scattered about, however, and a brightly coloured rug. Signs from the children learning new words, and a lip at the edge to stop anyone tripping to their demise. If Bad's timeline is correct about the word learning task, it must have been the last place Philza took his children before he left for a week - and they vanished.
"The coordinates were near here," Philza says, then pauses. "Not super close, but closer than anything else. About another thousand south, if you have your glider?"
"Not grapples?"
"I remember the exact route I took in the dream, not the numbers," Philza shrugs a little, smiles self-depreciatingly. "Never was any good with numbers or words. If I do it differently, we might not get there." Bad hums, and nods - to know the entire route in a dream? Very strange - and follows as Philza jumps from the southern edge. Follows him to one snowy peak.
"I stopped here to get my stamina back," Philza explains when Bad also lands. "I was in a rush for my eggs, but I know how bad that fall can be."
Bad nods again; they continue.
They land at the edge of some water and a village, then walk the rest of the way in silence. Philza's steps are very certain, too certain to have only walked it once in a dream and a second time guided by one, and Bad checks over his inventory.
Just in case it is a trap. He doesn't think Philza could fake this confusion enough to willingly lead him into a trap, but that only stops it happening if he knows what he's doing.
Philza leads Bad to a patch of hill where the trees are strangely cut. A couple of hummingbirds sit, tame, on the floor.
"There was a giant birdhouse here," Philza says. "It was cute - I remember thinking Chayanne and Tallulah had built it. Should really have noticed the windows were made of reinforced concrete," another, self-hating chuckle. "Inside… so many hummingbirds. And… And Chayanne's floaty, and Tallulah's hat. Next to them was a book. I explored a little, looking to see if the eggs, were there, before going back for it - 'A Cage for a Cage' the book read."
From Philza's flinch that means something - Bad isn't sure what, but he can make a few guesses.
"Then Cucurucho was behind me, laughing. I begged him, threatened him, asked for the eggs. But he just kept laughing as he ran out of the door. Sealed me in with reinforced something or other 'I hope you enjoy the island' my ass."
Philza seethes, and Bad expects him done. He still gives him a moment before asking, "and then you woke up?"
"No," Philza frowns further. "That's the strange part. I cried myself to sleep wrapped around their items. I dreamt… more like I usually dream - of my home, of my hardcore world, small glimpses. /Then/ I woke up. Still in the birdhouse. I knew it had been a long time, then, days at least - I was hungry despite all the golden apples. The hummingbirds were sat on me, but the book and the eggs' things? Gone."
Dreams inside dreams? A continuious narrative broken by another sleep? A walk remembered fully and that maps onto reality one to one? Bad can see why Philza is suspicious.
"The door was different, too, no longer a security door but this cute flower covered thing. When I opened it, it just… lead me out. And there was a path over… this way?" Philza leads Bad along, maybe a minute's walk through the trees at most.
"You remember in the nether there were the half destroyed Federation booths?"
Bad nods; he does.
"There was… kinda like one of those, just here. Two partial walls, a bit of a roof, some floor. A table with two chairs - Cucurucho at one, watching me. I screamed for him to give my eggs back. He gave me a book. It…" Philza takes a deep breath. "It teased me for falling for the trap so easily, then it told me I had to wake up - if I didn't wake up soon, I never would."
Dream fudgery, maybe? Bad already suspects memory alteration, so the Federation implanting dreams, or otherwise messing with them, is not impossible. Or, perhaps, making reality into something dreamlike.
Bad knows Philza was neither in his chair nor in his basement last night, but Philza doesn't seem to.
"I was confused, then I woke up in the basement, right by where the box had been. But no box, all my items from before back… just with the extra poppy and potato in my inventory. And Pierre yelling outside asking if I was okay. Wasn't really time not to be, what with the Duck's messgae starting right after he dragged me down to spawn."
Bad hmms to himself and watches Philza check the floor again, looking for quartz that very definitely isn't there. He is not really sure what the angel wants from him. It certainly doesn't make Bad less suspicious - the Federation could easily have implanted other orders into his dreams, ones Philza won't know about until they are triggered - but maybe that's the point.
"I don't sleep like that, either. Never that long. Too easy for someone to sneak up on you," Philza frowns. "Tubbo suggested the food at the party was drugged, but for all I took I barely ate any. Why wouldn't someone else have passed out too?"
"Tubbo's… interesting," Bad offers, not even sure what he means by that himself.
Philza laughs, and its something a little manic, "I was asleep a week and despite Fit and Pac's best efforts he broke into the Federation twice, found the room the happy pills were forced on people, and got shot. And made enough factories I pass out from the air quality if I walk too fast through his base. Interesting's a word for it, mate."
"The Federation is messing with your brain," Bad says, rather than address the imploding disaster which is Tubbo. "I don't know what exactly, but… while you were asleep, people loosing memories was talk of the island."
"I /know/," Philza snaps. "How do you think I don't know they've done something to me? Who the fudge else would be able to break my reinforced trap door entirely? One way or another that was gone when I woke up that Saturday, and the party was real, and the maze? But it was there when I woke up for Carre. But it was a dream, it was just a dream, but now I have a flower and a potato and that can't have been a dream, but it has to have been. I had dreams inside that dream, Bad! How do I even know this is real? That I'm talking to you now? That I'm not still trapped in that stupid birdhouse? That the island is even real? That any of you are real? That this isn't some… Isn't some fevered dream as I die of some ancient illness I picked up from the sniffers. What if- What is even real, Bad? Is there even a reality? Do our eggs- I don't- I don't know any more."
It's then that Bad thinks that, maybe, he has worked it out - the illusive thing which Philza wants from him. He thinks of how, as soon as he saw him after the eggs went missing, Philza just stepped up and offered him a hug. How, for a moment, the world was real and for a few seconds Bad felt safe and like his skin was his own. Neither of them have any answers, Bad can't even promise this is real in the end.
But he can open up his arms, so he does.
Philza collapses into them, gripping onto his hoodie as he lets out an ear-splitting shriek. Once, twice, and then it calms slightly into choked off sobs and half-chirped phrases both apologising and doubting and Philza cursing himself.
Some birds scatter, others peer down from the nearby, fudged up trees.
"I'm here," is all Bad can offer to the man in his arms. "You didn't do anything wrong," it tastes like a lie and yet Bad can't tell where the mistake was.
"I'm real, and I've got you."
Nearby one of the blue hummingbirds starts flying away. Bad does not trust it; he leans close and whispers, "where's your closest warp to mine? Let's go there where we can sit down."
Philza gives him the name, and Bad encourages him to warp - promises to follow. He watches for Philza's name disappearing and then reappearing on the map.
And then he grins a little sharp, turning his face out into the woods. "I don't appreciate spies."
Something atarts running; Bad lights a match, and starts a forest fire.
Surrounded by flames, he warps after Philza.
He has muffins at home. Muffins will cheer Philza up a bit, yes? They can have muffins, and coffee, and hug on the couch, and work out who they need to kill.

Hi I wrote a quick fix-it ficlet to make me feel better. Enjoy <3
-
"And then, I turn to him and I say, 'Do you want to be friends?' Fade to black."
Tubbo and Ranboo share a glance.
"...That sucked."
"Yeah. That might have been your worst story so far."
Tubbo disagrees, really - He thinks Tommy's worst story tonight has been the one about Skeppy being named the server's new king - but this story has put an equal damper on their sleepover.
The blanket fort they've haphazardly arranged in the mansion's living room seems to agree. It leans pecariously to one side, threatening to collapse and bury them in linens and sheets.
Tubbo cradles his pillow close to his chest, legs crossed. To his right, Ranboo lies on his back, staring up at the ceiling. Tommy sits in front of them, lying on his stomach with his head in his fists, pouting.
"It did not suck," Tommy protests with a whine. "Tubbo, you- You got to use a nuke, man, I made you so badass."
"Yeah, but like, why? And why did we lose all our memories?"
"And why did you forgive Dream?" Ranboo chimes in. "He was- I mean, he was pretty awful to you."
"Yeah, but this- In this story, he's a good guy deep down. He's just- He was really lonely, and so he-"
"Bullshit," Tubbo interrupts. "Dream is a fucking maniac, and you know that, Tommy."
Tommy looks away, chewing his lip.
Tubbo's brow furrows. "Tommy."
"No, no, I- I know. Dream was... Dream was bad."
"Mhm," Ranboo agrees encouragingly.
Tommy swallows roughly. "And... And he wasn't my friend. He was not my friend."
Tommy sounds like he's convincing himself more with each repetition, but Tubbo steps in regardless, leaning forwards to meet Tommy's eyes.
"He wasn't," Tubbo quietly insists. "And you don't have to forgive him if you don't want to. Ever."
Tommy opens his mouth to say something, but shuts it quickly. He takes a shakey breath, burying his face in the pillows beneath him.
Tubbo leans backwards on his hands to give Tommy space. "Besides, he's fucking dead now, dude. Nobody to even forgive."
"Mm. I'm glad that guy's dead," Ranboo murmurs.
Tubbo smiles, flopping down on his back to lie next to them. "Yeah?"
"Yep."
"Well, I'm glad this guy's alive," Tubbo pokes at Ranboo's side teasingly.
Ranboo giggles, turning to look at him. "Aw, you don't mean that, come on now."
Tubbo grins. "I do, actually. Nice to hear you breathing and shit."
Tommy groans, so loudly and abruptly that it makes Ranboo jump.
"Stop fuckin' flirting right in front of- I'm having a moment of reflection! I'm- I'm coming to terms with all of my fuckin'- And you two are just, 'Mimimimi, ohh, we're married!'"
"Do we really sound like that?" Ranboo quirks a brow.
"Yes," Tommy and Tubbo respond in unison.
Ranboo sighs. "Well, do you have any idea when you're gonna be done reflecting? I either want to keep flirting or go to sleep."
"Sleep," Tubbo agrees, climbing underneath their designated sleeping blankets. "Fuck flirting. Not worth it."
Ranboo lets out a sad trill, speaking with an audible pout. "No flirting?"
"No, now go to sleep," Tubbo murmurs. "You too, Tommy."
"I wasn't done telling stories, though."
"Then I'll tell a new one. 'Once upon a time, Dream was dead, and me and Tommy and Ranboo all went to sleep. The next morning Michael came and woke us all up and our fort fell down. But we rebuilt it later. The end.'"
"Hooray," Ranboo cheers half-heartedly.
Tommy scoffs, though he moves to climb into their pile of pillows and blankets anyway. "That story was shit."
"You're shit."
"Shut up, man."
"I hate it when you guys fight like this," Ranboo sarcastically murmurs, already half asleep. "Tearing this family apart."
Tubbo yawns. "Yeah, Tommy, stop fighting. Think of the families."
"Fuck you." Tommy throws an arm around Tubbo's waist, thrashing until he's comfortable.
Tubbo smiles. After a few moments of struggling he's able to locate Ranboo's hand under the mountain of blankets on top of them, and he tangles their fingers together. Ranboo reaches to turn off the singular redstone lamp they'd had lighting the fort.
"Love you too, prick," Tubbo slurs. "And you too, honeysuckle."
"Eugh. Now you two are really just doing it to piss me off."
Ranboo snuggles back into bed, tossing and arm across Tubbo's shoulders.
"You should piss him off more often," he whispers into Tubbo's hair.
Tubbo chuckles quietly.
"Don't worry, I plan to. I've got time."
He means to say something else, to keep antagonizing Tommy or snarking to Ranboo or both, but Tubbo quickly drifts off before he's able to form any more coherent thoughts, fading slowly away into overwhelming warmth.

not super polished meta or anything but something i do think is really interesting and kind of a trend with how c!dream sees factions is how...quite consistently, c!dream doesn't judge a faction as umm holistically as one might guess, especially because a common thought in this fandom is that c!dream just hates factions in general by default (and i mean, id say he's not fond of factions and obviously has a distaste for faction conflict, but he's not nearly as immediately going after factions guns blazing the way that i think people can think of him sometimes)--rather, quite consistently, c!dream's perception of a faction at any point in time is a reflection of his perception of its leader.
lmanburg, at the very beginning, he clearly saw as unreasonable, kind of stupid and delusional, but still something to be treated with a degree of caution...which is how he saw c!wilbur, this guy who was making really fucking preposterous claims (what the fuck do you mean new server. like for this guy he might as well have been declaring that this place was a whole new planet while making pretty overt moves towards war if you disagreed with him) but also had gathered quite a following and wasn't going to take no for an answer. l'manchildburg and all that
later on, c!dream sees lmanburg more neutrally and even positively when his relationship with c!wilbur improves. this is most telling when he talks abt lmanburg to c!wilbur at the beginning of pogtopia and during vassal--of course it's up to debate what c!dream's concrete plans were, but i'm pretty solidly of the belief that he wasn't planning to get rid of lmanburg at this point as i outline here. c!wilbur was willing to be reasonable and even peaceable, and so the same applied to the faction he ruled over
c!dream repeatedly expresses that his disagreement with c!schlatt is what causes him to align himself against manberg, and downright says that with c!schlatt at the helm he doesn't believe that peace between their two nations can be maintained. this is a constant, honestly, down to when c!schlatt dies--c!dream never truly thinks well of manberg, and it seems quite obviously to be a direct result of who was in charge
after c!wilbur dies, despite expressing positive sentiments to c!wilbur later on in statements such as "the smartest person on the server" and quoting him during doomsday and the like, c!dream's assessments of him as a leader as he expresses to c!quackity are quite negative. which is interesting, when you consider that part of the angle c!wilbur takes up during vassal is specifically that he'll be ambitious like schlatt the way c!dream explicitly says he felt threatened by in his sales pitch to convince c!dream to blow up lmanburg with him. c!dream wanting lmanburg to be blown up at the same time as its "ruler" (as c!dream clearly did see c!wilbur as the authority over lmanburg) wanted it to be blown up...hm.
c!dream expresses sentiments along the lines of willing to cooperate and coexist with c!tubbo especially after c!tubbo "puts the good of the nation" first instead of choosing to pursue a conflict against c!dream. to c!quackity, c!dream talks about c!tubbo to be fair and reasonable, qualities he evidently values in a ruler
in stark opposition, c!dream's disagreement with mexican lmanburg has everything to do with his perception of c!quackity as a reckless, conflict-seeking (and that's the common thread, really. c!wilbur sought conflict in the revolution and then with his painting himself as chaotic and ambitious and seeking destruction, and c!schlatt was ambitious and murderous in a way that had very clear consequences in terms of starting conflict on the server) ruler with little regard for the consequences of his actions, as he says repeatedly over the course of the mexican lmanburg debates
finally, c!dream explicitly outlines c!tubbo's "failings" as ruler as being the breaking point in terms of green festival + doomsday and specifically says that c!tubbo is willing to let people in the cabinet walk all over him, as well as the fact that c!quackity is more of a president than he is. when we consider c!dream's already very negative assessment of c!quackity as a leader and how c!quackity had pushed a lot of the decisions that really made nlm a threat that was impossible for c!dream to reconcile with (especially with moves such as the butcher army), some of the underlying sentiments behind well the overt villain-isms of c!dream's speech here do seem to come to light.
and for some other moments that aren't quite as Big but still reflect this same idea--c!dream explicitly rejects nlm if it was under c!tommy's rulership but is willing to coexist with c!tubbo as president, both dethronements have a lot to do with c!eret and c!george's actions having negative consequences for the whole faction by compromising a neutral stand (and therefore compromising the quote unquote neutrality of the entire faction and possibly embroiling everyone into conflict), c!dream's willingness to work with the badlands, the difference between the factions that c!dream ignores post-prison versus the one that he attacks (las nevadas, obviously). it's interesting to me how often c!dream seems to view factions as almost being extensions of the will of the person leading them and how his opinion of a faction an his opinion of its leader bounce off of each other, yknow?
(this post is mostly a series of observations and absolutely oversimplified to a certain degree, but yeah 👍)

Whumptober Day 6: Conditioning and Forced to Hurt Someone Else
My protegeinnit timeline. Tommy is forced to kill Punz for the first time in his necromancy training, and Dream uses his exile conditioning to get him to comply. Warnings for abuse, injury, death, blood, referenced torture and murder, dehumanisation, traumabonding, self victim blaming, manipulation, isolation, imprisonment, and love-bombing.
ao3 link
——
The knife felt like lead in Tommy’s hands.
Heavy and poisonous, he was half convinced his wrists would break from the strain. He felt sick as he looked down at Punz, strapped to a hospital bed and looking bored, and imagined how it’d feel to end a life. It felt wrong, the mere idea of it. He knew what Limbo was like; he didn’t want to put anyone through that fate worse than damnation.
“I know you can do it, Tommy,” Dream said, voice a mix of soothing and threatening, as he observed. “I’ve trained you well, haven’t I?”
Tommy gulped. “I- I mean, yeah, obviously, but…”
“It’s difficult to take a life for the first time? Yeah, it’s like that for us all-“
Punz snorted, rolling his eyes. “Speak for yourself.”
“C‘mon, you know the kid’s not like us.” Dream scolded, like Punz was a silly child. “Play nice.”
“Whatever. Get the little asshole to get this over with. I’m bored.”
Tommy didn’t know why Punz seemed to fucking hate him so much. He was nice, before… everything. Exile. The experiments. Now, he eyed Tommy with barely hidden contempt when Dream was around and completely unhidden rage when he wasn’t. He’d almost expected the man to strike him a few times, not as a punishment like Dream did but out of sheer anger and hatred. But he never did, saying something about how he was lucky to be Dream’s little pet.
Tommy was pretty sure that was meant to be an insult, but he took it in pride. He clearly wasn’t cut out to make decisions for himself, and if he had to be owned, Dream was a pretty cool owner. Even though he technically was one- Tommy couldn’t really disobey him or anything, not unless he wanted to regret it- he mostly just let Tommy chill and hung out with him like Tommy had once done with Wilbur, long ago. And- and, yeah, Tommy would have never ever agreed to the experiments if he had a choice, but it was for the greater good, so it was only fair for Dream to make him do them. Tommy was just a whiny baby.
He didn’t know why Dream put up with him. Useless, stupid, scaredy-cat Tommy, not a big man at all, clearly wasn’t the person to help with delicate magical research. Dream shoulda asked Tubbo or someone. Now, that was someone clever and brave and helpful. Someone who knew what the fuck they were doing. Someone who wasn’t a complete waste of fucking space-
“Tommy?” Dream’s voice was loud, but not cruel. “You’re dreaming awake again.”
Tommy could feel his cheeks flush as he came back to reality. He’d tried so hard to work on that, and Dream was so kind about it, but he hated it so much, so Tommy wasn’t allowed to do it. He’d tried so many ways to fight the static from his mind, from decoupling from his body and becoming nothing at all, but they didn’t seem to work. When he got like that, nothing Dream said or did could help him unless he caught it really early, and even then, it was like delaying the inevitable.
It was fucking embarrassing how little control Tommy had over his own mind.
“Sorry,” Tommy said quietly, trying his best to pretend to be a person. “I’m trying.”
“I know, little bug. I’ll be so proud of you for doing this, y’know. Don’t you want me to be proud of you?” There was an almost mocking tone to how his voice shifted, suddenly cruelly playful. “After all, remember what it’s like when you really do disappoint me?”
Tommy instinctively flinched, the punishments already playing in his head. Maybe, if it wasn’t too bad, it’d be like Exile, and Dream would mercifully just give him a beating, or a lecture, or lock him in his room for a few days, but Dream couldn’t be that kind nowadays. No, what normally happened was that next time it was his turn to die, Dream would make sure it was as painful, slow, and agonising as fucking possible. Probably leave him in Limbo for a few extra days, too, stewing in the agony. Prick.
Well, that wasn’t really fair. Tommy shouldn’t think that about someone who was practically family, the only person who not only tolerated but adored him. If Dream decided he deserved to be disembowelled or burnt or whatever, then he deserved all of it and worse. Dream was clever, too. He- he was the one who figured out how to bring people back, and he said it was a good thing, so it had to be, even though it didn’t seem good at all. Dream knew best. Dream knew best.
The sweat on Tommy’s palms made holding onto the knife feel like a nigh-impossible task.
“Aww, Tommy, don’t panic. I know you can do it.” Dream was clearly relishing in Tommy’s fear. “Remember, I know best, right? I taught you well. I don’t want to have to start all that again. Unless you want to go back to step one, Tommy. Do you want that? Do you want to go back to Logstedshire?”
“N-no, sir.” Logstedshire was easier, but Logstedshire was also hellish. Every day, the sun beat down and scorched him, and he woke up with water in his lungs. Every day, he did the same thing, comfortingly routine yet painfully constricting. No luxuries, no breaks, nothing. At least here, he was respected. He was a researcher into necromancy, much like Dream and Punz, and his thoughts were important and appreciated. He was given ample free time, a comfortable cell with plenty to do, and Dream got to spend much more time with him now. He even got to own things, which was weird to consider. He wasn’t a defiant exiled child, learning to obey- here, he was a valued protège, a Big Man respected in his own right.
He couldn’t be treated like that helpless child again. He’d rather be poisoned with the most agonising regents, left to starve in a tiny box, anything but being unable to do anything.
“Don’t call me that.” Dream’s voice was so harsh that Tommy flinched violently enough to drop the knife straight on his foot, yelping as it cut through his skin. His eyes widened at that, and his voice turned soft. “You’re not in trouble, it’s just…” He turned away, and shook his head. “Get this over with, okay? And I’ll get you a potion or something, if you do it quickly.”
Tommy scrambled for the knife, unable to stop himself from grinning a bit. It was like the jolt of happiness through his chest back when he was in Exile, and Dream didn’t make him put his stuff in the hole that day- it was something he’d once, stupidly, taken for granted, but Dream had taught him to take joy in.
Dream said that he, Tommy, and Punz all had different roles. Punz was the control group, serving to document the effects of regular revival both in the short and long term. Dream focused mainly on the effects revival had on the necromancer themselves to see if that could aid the pursuit of immortality in any way. And Tommy had the most crucial job of all- testing the extremes. The most agonising deaths, the longest and shortest times in Limbo, the effects on extreme stress afterwards before and after revival. It was miserable as shit, but Tommy took pride in knowing his suffering was helpful, and Dream didn’t hesitate in rewarding him.
Yeah, Tommy was spoiled, he really was. He had his Switch and all the games he could want, books, music, soft blankets, hell, Dream had even got him a kitten (though that was also to test revival on animal species). But no matter how kind, how ridiculously nice Dream was, that wasn’t going to get in the way of the research. Tommy’s pain was a test, something to be studied and not helped, regardless of whether it was a stubbed toe or a missing limb. Any sort of painkiller, any sort of healing, ruined the result, made it unclear how revival impacted his senses and his recovery.
Dream must be really proud of him if he was offering a potion.
The knife still felt wrong in his hand, bloodied and twisted, and it hurt to drag himself to Punz’s side, so much he thought he might not be able to, but he bit his tongue and pushed through the pain.
Punz rolled his eyes at him again. “Finally gonna get it over with? You’re so dramatic.”
Quietly, too focused on being good to speak, he nodded, lifting the knife and dragging it across their throat.
It was not quick, nor was it painless, but it was definitely more so than any of Tommy’s deaths. Punz choked on their own blood, thrashing violently against the restraints on instincts for what felt like forever, until he stilled, letting out a final rattling breath. It was a sickening sight, and Tommy couldn’t help but gag. Yeah, he’d been through worse, but it still looked like it hurt like Hell. Tommy deserved it. Punz didn’t, and now he was in Limbo, the hellish place playing tricks on his mind, and he must be so scared, and-
“There you go,” Dream cooed softly, like he was talking to a small child. “That wasn’t so hard, was it? I’m so proud of you, Tommy.” He ruffled Tommy’s hair gently, and the feeling of comfort sat wrong with the agonising sight of Punz clinging to life, desperately trying to free himself. It felt wrong. So, so wrong.
But there was something so soothing about Dream’s calm voice, his pride in him. It felt safe. It felt like the only good thing in the world. It was like the feeling in his chest he had after he went to Church, the light of the Primes shining down on him, and even though he couldn’t go to Church anymore, he longed for that feeling of being protected by a higher power. And- and Dream, he was practically a God compared to Tommy. Stupid, sickly, weak-hearted Tommy, who needed a firm hand to guide and punish.
He swallowed the bile in his throat and let himself lean into the touch, forcing a smile. After all, Dream was proud of him, and He knew best.

You have no idea what you have just unleashed... How do you think others would react to finding Dream freezing to death during the winter (Punz, George, Quackity, Sam, Tommy, Ranboo, hell even Fundy (the interactions that seem harder to imagine or could have many different little amazing details))
-Gremlin Anon
Sorry for answering so late! I got distracted
I do also need to point out: Dream goes into blob form when very relaxed, or when his body senses it’ll be better to be smaller (in this scenario, a smaller form could squirm into a tree burrow easier, but it makes it so much harder to stay warm). Another thing: blob Dream is not as small as shrunken Dream; while shrunken Dream is roughly the size of someone’s middle finger or palm, Blob Dream is the size of someone’s whole hand. So some people without experience have a harder time getting him down.
Punz is an avian hybrid! If he finds Dream out in the snow, borderline freezing, you bet your ass he’s helping his friend out. Dream wouldn’t have been stored by Punz before that point, I think. He’d unintentionally revealed his avian traits when he landed in front of the blob, concern turning his wings downwards, feathers brushing against the snow. After that, it doesn’t take much convincing and Dream gets a warm spot to relax while Punz takes him back to his base.
Quackity as an avian is in a similar boat, but while Punz has a harder time getting blob Dream down, Q doesn’t because he has experience with Karl’s true form. He can’t help but tease the other a bit until he’s reminded that he is also cold-blooded, and Q rushes them to his house so Sapnap can warm them up.
George would be with him, when he begins to shiver and then when he goes into blob form. In this situation, George would have gotten better about noms despite having not stored his blob form before, he’s damn well gonna try to to save his friend. He’s holding Dream in a way that completely covers whatever can’t fit in his mouth, trying to help warm him up so he’s easier to get down.
Sam literally stores Dream at his normal height all the time, he’s got no problem storing him and warming him up, but he also scolds him for not taking better care of himself and make sure he’d be okay.
Tommy can’t store people without the purple potion, and it’s not something he just has laying around in his inventory. He scoops Dream up off the ground, holds him close to his chest and tries to block out the wind as much as possible, and bolts to Phil’s home.
Ranboo doesn’t know much about Dream, let alone this form of his, but he does know a thing or two about cold-blooded creatures and knows he needs to get Dream warm pretty quick. If Dream is still shivering, Ranboo will take his chances and carry Dream to Phil or to his and Tubbo’s home. If Dream isn’t shivering anymore, Ranboo wastes no time storing him and racing to the closest house.
Fundy is out in the arctic begrudgingly, and running into Dream is a surprise. But he’s not dumb; Dream wasn’t shivering, and the axolotl ears on his blob form told him he was cold-blooded. He won’t swallow him, it’s not safe for him to, but he does hold him in his mouth and continues to Phil’s at a faster pace than before.
With some of them he’ll turn back instantly, somewhat ashamed to be caught at such a vulnerable moment. Others? He stays a blob for a good while, making them realize just how much he trusts them.

I came up with that AU the other day thats like, what if Wilbur approached Tubbo to make drugs first which leads to Tubbo becoming his right hand man instead of Tommy, but I had some issues properly developing it because if their personalities and goals stay the same and its just that one change then nothing is really different after the Manberg/Pogtopia war because Tommy would still reject the presidency for his discs and Tubbo wouldnt get himself exiled and even if he did something exile-worthy, Dream wouldnt double down the way he did in canon, because he cares about Tommy and his discs and not Tubbo. However, Im rewatching Tommys exile vods and he keeps going on about "if the roles were reversed and Tubbo was exiled" and it gave me some ideas
So, I still dont really know how Tubbo would get himself exiled, so Im not even gonna talk about it
First, I do think Tommy would want to visit him even if they had an argument before the exile and I definitely think Dream would be spending a lot of time with him in order to prevent it (and yknow, for manipulation reasons). Tommy would probably be a lot less suceptible to Dreams emotional manipulation attempts since he has more of a support system in Lmanberg, so I feel like Dream might try to influence the way he runs Lmanberg instead. I think Tommy would struggle quite a lot with being the president and it would make him feel bad on top of missing Tubbo, so Dream could maybe exploit that idk
I dont really know if Tubbo would actually have more visitors like Tommy is saying because yeah, Tommy was pretty destructive and some people didnt like him but he did have friends who (aside from Tubbo kinda) really had no reason not to stop by. Idk, I'd say he would get as many visitors as Tommy in canon, he just would actively push them away because he doesnt have the mindset of "oh theyre just doing this out of pity and I dont like it" (although thats something that could develop over the course of his exile)
Back when the exile arc was still on-going, there were speculations that Tommy would join Dream and become a protegee of sorts and nothing close to that ended up happening BUT I feel like Tubbo would be more likely to join Dream if he was put in that situation. Like, Tommy has said multiple times that the disc are the most important thing to himand I feel like that already kinda got to him but if he was isolated with Dream manipulating him, I think it could convince him to join him. And then we could have a really interesting conflict between Tommy and Tubbo and really confront the fact that he seems to care more about his discs than literally anything else. I think there would also be some good internal conflict from Tubbo because yknow, siding with Dream has historically gone bad for former presidents of Lmanberg. ALSO maybe he would think a lot about that thing Wilbur told him during the festival that was like "youre just a yes-man" and reflect on that or something
This would be the point where the AU starts diverting more and more from canon since Tubbo doesnt move in with Techno n Phil and all that doesnt happen because hes still just with Dream, but i dont really know how exactly it would divert rn. Maybe I'll come up with that as Im watching idk

oooo ok:
🙂, 👼, 🧨, 💏, and also the question about staged finale, the emoji wasn't showing up for me.
Thanks for the ask!
🙂 - Should Dream get a redemption arc?
NO! :) I want to see that motherf'cker absolutely go to town on the big bad evil front. I'm talking the return of the S2 dominance and control, perhaps flavoured with some of the string-pulling puppet master of S1 - hiding in the walls, hiding in the walls. I really liked the Sam Prison streams because it brought that back: the lying, the manipulation, the brutality. I want that b'stard to stand at the top of the world and laugh, and then I want him to have his throne pulled out from under him, and I want to watch him fall and die surrounded by the people he once called friends. So yeah, I don't want a c!Dream redemption arc. I want him to be worse, and then I want him to be killed by Sapnap or Tubbo or Tommy. I don't think there's a satisfying ending to the DSMP where Dream is redeemed.
👼 - Should Friend/Shroud/Michael/Fran be off limits for greifing?
My answer here is going to be pretty similar to someone else's I've seen, but it is as follows: Friend no, Shroud, Michael and Fran yes. Friend has died so many times now it basically doesn't matter: Ghostbur's in limbo, so the main emotional crux is gone, and besides, Friend has infinite canon lives :') Shroud doesn't really matter lore-wise, nor do we know if cc!Tommy is attached to him (he seems to be, but he's perpetually semi-in-character on the DSMP), but we inniters here on tumblr have become so attached I will personally go to war for that spider. Michael, to quote Technoblade, is a BABY. Killing him would be so depressing. I liked the kidnapping plot because we got to see Tubbo go off but thank goodness he's home safe. And finally, Fran deserves pensioner's protection. She's been around so long, the server's oldest pet deserves to retire from this bs and chill.
🧨 - Who is most at fault for November 16th?
Okay, here we go. A lot of people share blame for the undue... everything that happened on Nov 16th. Wilbur, Schlatt, Philza, Bad and Antfrost, Eret (from previous events); I could go on about all of them for a while. But if I had to narrow it down, it would absolutely be Dream and Technoblade. I firmly believe the point of no return was crossed when Techno fired at Tubbo. In that moment, the peace shattered. Wilbur heard it from the button room, and I bet in his mind it was the last piece of confirmation he needed to be convinced the old, peaceful, wonderful L'Manberg was dead and buried. In fact, it was in the moments before Techno shot that Dream dropped in that there in fact was a traitor! Maybe, just maybe, someone would've worked out where Wilbur was if Techno hadn't started monologing...
But on the level above Techno, supreme sh't himself, Dream. He egged Techno into attacking on Nov 16th while Tubbo was making his speech. He pushed Wilbur down his dark path from the shadows and provided him with the TNT. He supported Schlatt after obtaining the revive book, let him die in the camarvan, then laughed when L'Manberg exploded. He orchestrated everyone's downfalls. Right before he died, Wilbur said "Manberg didn't win, Pogtopia didn't win. I won." Really, I think the winner in this war was Dream.
💏 - Is TNTduo /r?
YES. OH MY GOD. Okay, romantic? Maybe not (as the aromantic in the room, I'm contractually obligated to say that), but! They absolutely did it during Manberg/Pogtopia. Sorry Wilbur Soot. I refuse to believe there was not an affair, in which two stressed out, tired idiots with too much sexual tension ran into each other in the wrong place at the right time and decided, "f'ck it." Enhances the Las Nevadas viewing experience immensely. That's just how it is when you both know something about each other no one else in the room does.
🥸 - Did Staged Finale negatively impact Punz/Tommy's character arc?
Okay, you should have not have enabled me to talk about the Staged Finale thing, because I have had this rant simmering since November. I don't think it really negatively affects Tommy's arc - Punz and him didn't interact much during S3. However! My second biggest issue with it is that it means Punz's character doesn't really make any sense in hindsight. And my biggest issue with it is that it really messes with the theme of the season being attachment.
Firstly, Punz. Before Staged Finale, I quite liked Punz. A mercenary whom Dream was far too trusting of, originally keeping tabs on the L'Manbergians (who remembers the S P Y tweet from the eve of Doomsday?) who either receives a bigger payout from Tommy, or takes pity on the kid, and leads the greater population of the SMP to Dream's evil lair just in time to save them. I personally like the latter interpretation: it later lined up even better when, after Punz was told Tommy was killed in the prison, he said "But I saved him..." despite being very under the Egg's influence. And his Egg involvement was cool!
And then Staged Finale happened, and he was just... on Dream's side the whole time? What, he got monumentally distracted by the Egg? Dream didn't seem to trust him to get him out in the first place, considering how he left the blueprints specifically in a place Techno would recognise. And the bit that really annoys me is that Tommy death line. There's no need for that line. Punz is in with the Eggpire, and Puffy's already p'ssed at them. He doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. Why say it if you genuinely didn't care about the kid? And then, when Dream gets out, they're all buddy buddy again. It doesn't line up to me.
(I am not going to talk at length about how little sense Staged Finale makes overall because I need to eat at some point tonight, but just know I think it makes no sense. Why the hell would you intentionally get yourself trapped in a maximum security prison. Why would you want the whole server to see you about to kill someone they generally like. None of it makes a lick of sense and I like to ignore it at every opportunity.)
And finally, my theme rant. Themes in media and literature mean a lot to me. The theme of S2 is Attachment, and it's the easiest one to determine. The whole season is laced with it: the pursuit of the discs, the compasses representing Tommy and Tubbo's attachment to the other, the Butcher Army threatening Carl, New L'Manberg and Ghostbur and Friend and Doomsday, and the goddam hall of attachments in the finale. Dream even tells Tommy he's important because he brought countries and caring for items and pets and attachment to the server. Attachment is the key.
Tommy's interactions with this theme are always that it's worth it, even when it hurts. He has to keep pursuing the discs. He fights for L'Manberg because it's what he has left of Wilbur. Even after Dream's 'I cut all my attachments and it made me stronger' speech, he responds simply "How do you not hurt?", unable to imagine an existence where he doesn't care deeply. And in the end, attachment saves him. When Punz tells people what he told them, they go because they care about these two kids enough to come to their aid.
And Dream? He cuts all his attachments off, refusing to care about items, cutting off Sapnap and George as early as the start of S2 so they can never be used against him. And then Sapnap comes to put himself between Dream and the Clingy Duo when it matters. Because he cut all his attachments (except to Tommy), he has no one left to defend him, and so is thrown in the prison to rot for a year and be tortured until Techno breaks him out to repay the favour. Staged Finale throws a massive spanner in that because it undermines the simple message of the S2 finale: attachment saved Tommy and Tubbo, and cutting his brought down Dream. If Dream has Punz, his status as the lone wolf who thought he could control the server by being above it all is undercut by the fact it's all a ploy. This is the part that annoys me most about it, because the theme and resolution previously worked so well.
At the end of the day, I mostly choose to forget Staged Finale happened, and I will probably continue to ignore it unless they make something cool out of this weird twist. And it's not hard to please me with this kind of stuff, so we'll see. I may be a convert yet.

Tubbo found himself tracing the patterns in the grain of the wood with his eyes. It wasn't exactly thrilling stuff, but it was something to do.
Behind him, Michael was asleep on the bed. The two of them had played together earlier, and now the toddler was down for a nap. Usually, Tubbo would've left once Michael fell asleep, but Dream's lungs had been acting up with a particularly nasty cough. As much as the man insisted he was fine, he'd also almost died too many times for anyone to be willing to take the risk. So, since everyone else was out, Tubbo was tasked with staying in earshot in case something went wrong.
It wasn't anywhere near as bad as Tubbo thought it'd be. Michael was more willing to play under Dream's supervision, and Tubbo was hoping the extra time might help them bond further. Dream himself spent most of his time resting or watching the window. Sometimes he'd speak, mostly when Michael wanted to show him something, but other then that, things were calm.
When Michael settled down for his nap, Dream had picked up the revive book he'd been making slow progress on for the past few weeks, and Tubbo had taken the hint and turned to face the wall. He was still shocked (and pleased) that Dream was willing to work on it with him in the room at all. The man was still shy about anything to do with the revive book, and Tubbo tried not to push.
Curiosity was prickling at Tubbo, but he kept himself facing the wall. He didn't even ask how far along Dream was in the book! Even though Tubbo wanted Ranboo back, he was very aware that Dream's hands were still a struggle. Phil wasn't happy with Dream writing anything at all, but the two had agreed that slow progress was a fair compromise.
Speaking of Ranboo, his ghost had been hanging around the day before. It seemed to be avoiding Dream himself, but had no problem being in the area. None of them had mentioned that Dream was writing a revive book for him. They'd been worried it might run off.
Actually, wait, what if Dream told it? Dream hadn't met Ghostboo yet, so he wouldn't know to lie! That could be a disaster.
"Don't tell Ghostboo."
Tubbo said it, and then almost instantly realized his words made no fucking sense out of context.
"Uh, that's- Don't tell him about the book. Uh, he's been like, avoiding you I think. But if Ghostboo does come in here, then don't tell him. He's- he's weird."
Keeping his voice flat was hard, and it was only getting harder as Tubbo found more words spilling out.
"I dunno why, but like, he's really insistent that he's happier being dead. So we haven't told him. About the revival. His ghost is really weird in general. I don't- I'm not a fan."
He would've kept rambling, but Dream cut him off.
"It's not real."
What.
"What?"
"The ghosts. They aren't... It's not a person. It's a trick. It's a bad imitation of the person left behind to try to convince you not to revive them. They'll try different things, but it's all for the same goal. Try to ignore it until I've got this finished."
Dream words were confident and clinical. Like he was stating the obvious.
And- well- It wasn't like Tubbo thought he was lying. What he was saying made sense, in an abstract way.
"Why- How do you know that?"
It was kind of a stupid question. Silence ticked by, and since Tubbo was still facing the wall, he had no idea what Dream was thinking.
"I found out when I got the book."
That wasn't the whole truth, and they both knew it. Tubbo itched with the desire to learn more, he wanted to know, to understand. He almost couldn't restrain himself.
But Tubbo was trying. He'd figured out pretty quickly that Dream took poorly to being pressed for answers. So he nodded, and kept his questions to himself for the moment.
Silence again. It wasn't quite comfortable, but it was tolerable. There was the very faint and slow scratch of pen against paper offsetting it all.
Dream spoke after a few minutes.
"Is Niki going to be back soon? She was.... Meeting Ponk? Right?"
"Punz, actually. Uh, I think she'll be back in a few days? She was going to stop and catch up on a few things before coming back. I can ask Phil though. He'll know. Do you need to ask her something?"
There was a frustrated pause, and Tubbo knew it wasn't directed at him. Dream had some issues with keeping things straight these days. He wouldn't talk about what caused it, but it showed in the little details that slipped past him.
"Not exactly, it's not urgent, but... I'm almost done. Should only be a few more days. I'll need to be the one to burn it, but anyone can kill the ghost. I figured she'd be okay with doing it. Probably shouldn't be you or Techno at the very least. Someone will need to be at the prison to get Ranboo too."
Oh. Oh!
Tubbo couldn't contained himself. He whipped around in his excitement- thankful it seemed Dream had already closed the book. He flew out of his chair- he needed to move and think- Ranboo was going to be back!
"Really?!" Pointless, Dream wouldn't lie about this. "She wouldn't mind- I could do it, but I want to be there. When he's back. We can go ahead of time, maybe find where he actually died. Connor might know, maybe. I swear when we broke in the first time Techno found some bloodstains, so we might even know where he was!"
Brain racing, Tubbo starting making plans out loud. Everything he'd been praying for since he first saw that death message so many months ago.
Dream let him ramble without interrupting. One of his hands just moved to pet Michael's head when the toddler snuffled in his sleep. Oops. Tubbo quieted down, not wanting to wake Michael. One thing hadn't still changed, the boy still got extremely grouchy if he didn't get his afternoon nap. Nobody wanted that.
Soon enough, Ranboo would be back. He'd be home. Things weren't going to be like they were before, but they would be okay again. Different, but okay. Finally.

DSMP Angsty Imagines - React to Your Death pt. 3 --- c!Wilbur Soot
Part 3 to my series of “dsmp boys react to your death”:  Pronouns used: they/them (if mentioned) Warnings: explosions, spoilers for the events of Dream SMP, death, grief Words: 1.3+
The list: c!George c!Bench Trio c!Wilbur - (you are currently on this post)  c!Dream c!Technoblade - (coming soon!)
You had tried convincing your boyfriend not to blow up L’Manburg. But Wilbur Soot wouldn’t listen to you. He wouldn’t listen to anyone. Not in this state.
It had been a long time coming, honestly. Everyone should have noticed the signs. You should have noticed the signs, but it wasn’t as if you were actively looking for a reason to paint your lover as an insane psychopath.
For months, Wilbur had slowly been descending into insanity. Looking back, the tells were all there. Very irregular sleeping patterns; sleeping not at all and then way too much, days when it seemed as if his emotions had been completely turned off, days when his temper seemed too volatile, the times when you’d catch him obsessing over books explaining the mechanics of tnt. It had all been laid in front of you, but you were too blind.
That’s the thing about love, children. You either find yourself forced into relationships that make you unhappy or find yourself so in love with someone that it practically erases reality and judgment. There are a few lucky people. A few who find the loves of their lives and spend the remainder of their days in perfect happiness. No intoxicating amounts of infatuation, no feelings of emotional claustrophobia. You were not one of those lucky people. Not at all.
It was already too late to turn back by now. The two of you were already heading to the Button Room. Tommy, Tubbo, and Quackity were supposed to be with you, but they didn’t agree with Wilbur’s plan, so they stayed behind.
The three had been desperately trying to convince Wilbur to step down, to destroy the button and give up on his wild fantasies of watching his unfinished symphony burn to the ground. But that hadn’t worked, So they turned to you.
And as much as you agreed with their reluctance - and disagreed with your boyfriend, you had to support him. For that’s what he did with you. When you had been a newcomer to the server and no one would help you, he did. At the very least you owed him that. But you were beginning to doubt how far your support would actually go when you found yourself standing in the button room.
You and Wilbur looked up at all of the signs on the walls, each singing L’Manburg’s National Anthem in your head.
I heard there was a special place where men could go and emancipate the brutality and tyranny of their rulers Well, this place is real you needn’t fret with Wilbur-
“You’ve been so good to me, Y/n.” Wilbur’s unusually quiet voice interrupted the anthem playing in your mind.
“I’m your partner, Will. I’m also your friend. It’s my job.” For some reason, you could bring yourself to say it was because you loved him. Your heart knew it was because you didn’t love him anymore. Actually, that wasn’t entirely true. It was a different type of love now. Much less blinding, and much more clear.
Wilbur reached up a faintly-scarred hand to touch one of the signs on the walls. “You’ve stuck by me and supported me even when no one else did.”
You could feel your face begin to heat up. “Will, about that.... Are you sure you want to do this? Are you sure this is the right thing to do?”
Your boyfriend whirled around at that. And for some reason, your mind began to sing the National Anthem once more.
My L’Manburg My L’Manburg
“Don’t flake out on me now, Y/n. We’re so incredibly close. We’ve come this far together. You can’t possibly be thinking of abandoning me?” His eyes narrowed dangerously, sending ominous shivers down your spine.
My L’Manburg My L’Manburg
“No! Of course not! I just think it would... make sense if you... thought about this some more,” you stammered, desperately fumbling for the right words.
Wilbur stepped toward you suddenly and you flinched backwards. He didn’t seem to notice - or care. “Y/n, if you don’t support me in this plan, I have no choice but to kill you. You know too much. And yes, I do remember that you’re on your last life. That changes nothing.”
Your thoughts froze, so did you. Never, did you expect him to go this far. Sure, you’d been aware of the fact that he was slowly becoming insane for weeks, but threatening your life? That was something you could never prepare yourself for.
You were trapped. Either way, you were pretty sure you’d die. If you agreed, the explosions would kill you. If you didn’t, Wilbur would.
For freedom and for liberty our nation sought to build on these a victory for all under our freedom
“I’m going through with the plan, Will. We’re going through with it.”
Well the darkness came and then it went we built a home and watched it sink and from the rubble emerged my great-
Once again, the anthem in your head was interrupted. This time by Philza. Philza Minecraft. Your boyfriend’s father.
Your heart raced as it realized how close to pressing the button Will had been only heartbeats before. Philza and Wilbur were having a whole debate in the background. It was only when your name was called that you snapped out of your trance.
“Y/n?” Will asked softly, placing a hand on your shoulder.
Your head snapped up. “Yes?”
You almost shut down at the sad acceptance in Wilbur’s eyes. Had it worked? Had Phil really talked him out of pressing the button and triggering the tnt?
“Phil here has convinced me that maybe the button isn’t worth pressing.”
Hope sprung in your chest. It spread its wings.
My L’Manburg My L’Manburg My L’Manburg My L’Manburg
Your boyfriend leaned down to hug you, head resting on your shoulder as his back faced Phil. You were just about to hug him back when his whispered voice reached your ears, making you shiver.
“It’s all up to you now, Y/n.”
He straightened and left the Button Room, but not before giving you a pointed glance.
With bloodied hands and weakened knees.
Your body felt frozen, pinned by impossible choices. By the future and the past.
“Y/n?” Philza’s concerned voice carried across the cave. “Are you okay?”
You scrambled for a convincing enough excuse. “Y-yeah. I just need a moment. Today has been... rough.” None of that was a lie.
With a slight furrow of his brows, Phil nodded. He began walking away.
Our people rose like the phoenix
You stopped him, though. “Philza.”
He turned around.
Our empty fields and canals ‘round L’Mantree
“There was a saying, Phil, by a traitor, once a part of L’Manburg.”
Phil didn’t know how to react. He just nodded, clearly uncomfortable with the atmosphere, the tension.
With sweat and tears we armed our ranks we laid foundations in our land
“Have you ever heard of Eret?”
Once again, Philza only nodded.
You could feel your body heat up with anticipation. The moment was nearing.
And from every lips for here up to infinity
“Yeah, he had a saying, Phil.” You felt your fingertips ghost the surface of the button.
We sing L’Manburg We sing L’Manburg We sing L’Manburg We sing L’Manburg
“It was never meant to be.”
~-~-~-~-~-~-
Wilbur Soot was too busy smiling at the series of explosions going off behind him to realize the fact that you were dead.
And even when those around him cried as they mourned your death, not a single tear streaked down his cheek. No pang of sadness or remorse was felt by this man who had strayed too far down the path of insanity.
Perhaps once, he would have torn up the world looking for a way to revive you. But that Wilbur was long gone. That Wilbur was the one you’d fallen for, the one you’d follow to the ends of the server.
But you’d failed to realize that the Wilbur of today was not the Wilbur you loved. And that mistake turned out to be fatal.

Quackity and Schlatt’s Relationship - More Complicated Then You Think
(this is all /rp and about the characters from the dream smp! pls assume i have the dignity not to write analysis of youtubers)
recently there was a bit of discourse surrounding the relationship between Quackity and Schlatt floating around on tumblr. tho i never saw the original post that sparked the conversation, i did see a few posts that were inspired by it mentioning how they disliked that the original post implied that Quackity and Schlatt were mutually abusive and/or equally bad for each other
since i never saw the original post, i can't be sure if that's what the op meant to imply. it's not really my place to speak about a post that i never got the chance to read. BUT the conversation that was caused by the post in question did get me thinking about how this fandom treats the relationship between Quackity and Schlatt and how little nuance there is in discussions about it
now before i say anything else, i want to make a few things clear:
i don't think Quackity and Schlatt’s relationship is mutually abusive. no need to worry about hearing that from this post
i don't look down on ppl who have different interpretations of their relationship
there will be potentially triggering content in this analysis. i will place a quick warning whenever i think one is needed!
their relationship is romantic in canon and therefore i’ll be treating it as romantic
alright now that we’ve gotten all of that out of the way, we can finally get on with the analysis! i apologize for how long this is gonna be
part 1: let's talk relationship!
i think we can all agree that Quackity and Schlatt’s relationship was not exactly a healthy one. tho it didn't start out that way, it certainly turned into what could be read as abusive or toxic (i personally read their relationship as being abusive in its later half due to evidence provided by the text, but i understand if others prefer to view it as just toxic instead)
but what happened that led to their partnership ending so badly? what caused all of this mess?
well, it was a lot of things. but we will get to that later. let's talk relationship first!
from the very beginning, Quackity and Schlatt’s relationship was pretty one-sided. tho they both clearly liked each other as friends/partners in crime both before and after the election (yes they did interact before the election!) Quackity was also interested in Schlatt romantically- something that Schlatt wasn't fully committed to
as we all know from the infamous date stream and from a few other moments, Quackity and Schlatt enjoyed playfully flirting with each other- tho it was pretty obvious that Quackity was more serious about it then Schlatt was even tho Schlatt considered Quackity to be very attractive
in my opinion, Quackity is someone who wants a long term relationship, while Schlatt is more interested in flings. this can be seen in Schlatt refusing to marry Quackity and rejecting most of his advances while Quackity tried his best to convince him to feel otherwise. Tommy put it best: Quackity is just one of Schlatt’s many bitches U_U
to Quackity, the romantic aspect of their relationship was very important. because Schlatt never actually shot him down or told him that he didn't feel the same way, Quackity took that to mean that they were truly in love. Schlatt on the other hand wasn't very invested in the romantic side of things but clearly valued Quackity’s looks and his support as an ally against Pogtopia so he never fully rejected Quackity’s advances
this might not seem like too big of a deal considering the other things that happened between them, but i think it shows part of the nature of their relationship. there is a lot of miscommunication and, on Schlatt’s end, manipulation of emotions. love is a strong motivator for loyalty and Schlatt is a smart guy who would know how to use that to his advantage
but that isn't to say that Schlatt didn't ever care about Quackity!
Schlatt is a complicated guy and figuring out when he's actually being genuine can be pretty difficult. but i think there are some moments that point to Schlatt genuinely caring about Quackity
when he was alive, Schlatt was pretty paranoid. not as paranoid as Wilbur, but certainly up there. but there were never any times where he truly questioned Quackity’s loyalties after his first day as president. Schlatt also seemed truly upset that Quackity betrayed him, bringing up their status as partners in crime while ranting about how much it hurt him and singling Quackity out while talking about how he had been abandoned during his time of need
Schlatt also spent a lot of time sulking after Quackity betrayed him and whining to Ponk about needing a new bitch. this is in contrast to how angry he was after Tubbo betrayed him- both during and after the execution
there is also the situation with the Big Man Gym
after being dead for a while, Schlatt contacted Quackity despite them leaving off on bad terms and asked for him to visit him in his cave gym. when Quackity showed up, Schlatt talked about how he valued their relationship and the good times they had together. tho this can easily be seen as emotional manipulation, Schlatt’s a lot smarter than he seems and- if he doesnt have memory issues due to being a ghost- would know that Quackity’s opinion of him was in the dump at the time of his death and most likely wouldn't have improved since then. Fundy has a higher opinion of Schlatt than Quackity does and is someone who obviously craves validation. but Schlatt went to Quackity first anyway and trusted him to help revive him
i think that this is all good evidence that points towards Schlatt truly caring about Quackity as much as someone like Schlatt can care about anyone- or at least valuing him as a companion
i also think that it is pretty common knowledge that Quackity cared about Schlatt- and possibly still does- but i will go over a bit of evidence that i haven’t already mentioned before we move on to the next part
Quackity tried multiple times to impress Schlatt (like when he lied about knowing how to play chess), would attempt to help Schlatt when he was drowning in water, sadly said that they could have had something together while Schlatt was dying in the caravan, and implied that he wouldn’t have left if Schlatt hadn’t taken down the white house. Quackity also willingly went to the Big Man Gym after being summoned there by Schlatt and wanted to revive him long before the revive book became part of the story
part 2: what made it fall apart?
everything i've said so far has been pretty interesting (hopefully) but it doesn't really answer the original question: what went wrong to turn Schlatt and Quackity’s mainly positive partnership sour?
well it comes down to two things in my opinion: their incompatible desires for political power and Schlatt’s deteriorating mental state
Quackity wanted political power from the beginning and wasn't afraid to be open about his desires. he pooled his votes with Schlatt because Schlatt offered him the position of vice president, something Wilbur and Tommy weren’t willing to give to him. tho Quackity obviously cared about L’Manburg and wanted to see good things for it, he also desired power and was willing to team up with someone he didn't fully agree with to get said power
at 32:40 in this video, Quackity talks about how in politics everyone uses everyone so it's alright if Schlatt is using him. he then talks about how he doesn't want to be a man with no power and how he understands that Schlatt’s main goal is also gaining/keeping power. Quackity also shows a bit of his naughty evil side by saying if he overthrows Schlatt then the fun ends too early!
(side note: these two are pretty evenly matched in intelligence and manipulativeness, i love it!)
it's a bit of a fandom misconception that Quackity was a love sick yes man during the Manburg era. tho Quackity did want to please Schlatt and was in love with him, he didn't shy away from standing up to or disagreeing with Schlatt when he believed it was needed
at around 26:12 of this video, Quackity and Schlatt meet together in private and Quackity tells Schlatt off for playing down his role in the power structure of Manburg. since this was very early in Schlatt’s reign, Quackity shows no fear towards him and confidently tells him not to treat him like that
Quackity also broke Niki out of jail after regretting letting her be put there in the first place, tried to convince Schlatt to not execute Tubbo, jumped in front of Fundy when Schlatt tried to attack him, tried to stop Schlatt from tearing down buildings, and attempted to protect the white house he built from being destroyed by Schlatt. these are not behaviors of a pure yes man but of someone who, despite fear, has the confidence to speak up for himself even when disrespected by someone in authority
Quackity has always been someone who wanted power and someone who was never a yes man to authority. this contradicts with how Schlatt believed Quackity should act as vice president. in Schlatt’s opinion, Quackity’s one job is to sit around looking pretty while Schlatt does all of the important things and holds all of the power. Schlatt was a big fan of promoting people to worthless positions of authority and its pretty obvious that he considered vice president to be similar to the fake positions he gave Fundy and Tubbo
in the end, this was a big part of what destroyed their relationship. like it or not, Quackity’s a power hungry guy and always has been. he didn't like that Schlatt constantly shoved him aside and refused to listen to him
now onto the nasty bit...Schlatt’s mental state
cw for mentions of alcoholism, mental deterioration, and abusive behavior
before i say anything more, i just want to say that i don't think having issues with alcoholism makes someone a bad person. i personally have some issues with such things so it would be pretty stupid of me to say being an alcoholic makes you a bad person. alcoholism does negatively affect your cognitive functions tho and, combined with other health issues, can cause some of the very serious mental problems that Schlatt clearly struggles with
throughout the Manburg era, Schlatt’s mental state rapidly deteriorated. he went from a pretty normal- if eccentric- guy who had a drinking problem, to someone who was delirious most of the time. it's a sharp and noticeable decline that caused a lot of pain for Quackity due to Schlatt often taking his excess aggression out on him by yelling at him and/or belittling him. tho Schlatt often belittled Quackity before he went fully off of the deep end, it was never as aggressive as it was when he was in this delirious state of mind
it was during one of Schlatt’s most aggressive and delirious moments that he tore down the white house despite Quackity’s protests. as we all know, this caused Quackity to snap and kill Schlatt (it's more complicated than that but we will get back to that). as mentioned previously, Quackity implied that he would have stayed with Schlatt if the white house hadn’t been destroyed
in my opinion, these two things combined are the biggest reasons why Quackity and Schlatt’s relationship fell apart. their differing desires for power were not compatible and Schlatt’s awful behavior while his mental state declined caused a rift between them that couldn't be fixed
part 3: how toxic was it really?
cw for emotional and physical abuse
as i said all the way back in part one, Quackity and Schlatt’s relationship was not healthy. i have provided many examples in the other two parts that shine a light onto why it wasn't healthy, but i didn't show the entire picture
there are many moments that show exactly how Schlatt treated Quackity when he was acting at his worst and none of them are pretty. tho Schlatt was never truly aggressive with his insults until he started to go off of the deep end, that doesn't mean that what he said wasn't negatively affecting Quackity
Schlatt would belittle, insult, and mock Quackity for his appearance not being up to his standards, for his opinions, and for being emotional in ways that Schlatt disapproved of like crying. tho Schlatt would often brush off Quackity’s reactions towards this cruel behavior, it's very clear that Schlatt’s treatment of him has stuck with Quackity in many ways
Quackity is very sensitive about his appearance and it seems to be because of how badly Schlatt hurt his self esteem during their time together. Schlatt tied Quackity’s worth to his appearance and then would claim he wasn't meeting his standards of attractiveness. we can tell that this has stuck with Quackity because of his sensitivity towards people bringing up the scar on his face (something that greatly alters his physical appearance) and he still reacts very badly when Schlatt calls him the mocking nickname flatty patty
speaking of flatty patty- that stupid insult shockingly has a lot of weight in Quackity’s relationship with Schlatt. tho its something the audience is meant to laugh at, the nickname also shows just how little Schlatt respects Quackity because he's constantly throwing it around just to make Quackity upset. Schlatt’s last words are flatty patty all because he wanted to get in one last dig at his ex and ruin Quackity’s day even further
Schlatt tends to do a lot of things that are intended to make Quackity upset. tearing down the room Quackity made for him in the white house is the biggest example of this- especially since Schlatt mentions how it will upset Quackity while he does it. you can see this moment at around 19:10 of this video
and now let's get into the elephant in the room when it comes to these two: Quackity was scared of Schlatt. tho we never really see Schlatt hit or attack Quackity physically outside of their confrontation at the white house or their confrontation in the caravan, these clips imply that Quackity was at the very least scared of Schlatt physically harming him in some way
as for actually physically harming him, Schlatt hits Quackity multiple times with a pickaxe and with his fists during their white house fight. Quackity hits Schlatt a couple times too, tho these are all primarily defensive blows since he is trying to protect himself and his property. he also chases after Quackity with a bow after Quackity’s plan to trick him into signing Manburg over to the Pogtopians fails and hits him multiple times during the caravan confrontation
all of this evidence shows that Schlatt was an abusive (or at least toxic) partner towards Quackity and someone who greatly affected him in many ways
tho Quackity did a few questionable things throughout his relationship with Schlatt (such as trying to get Schlatt to have sex with him despite Schlatt not being interested as shown in the later half of this video) and did some downright morally wrong things during his time as vice president of Manburg, no one deserves the pain of an abusive relationship- even a person who has done bad things
as a brief side note before we move on because i know people will bring it up if i skip over it, Quackity did- and most likely still does- want to literally possess Glatt. he brought up reviving Schlatt and using him as a political pawn after Schlatt’s funeral and during their conversation at the Big Man Gym Quackity talked about owning Glatt and having him work at Las Nevadas with no pay
this is unsettling behavior to say the least but this essay isnt about the aftermath of their relationship so much as it is about their relationship when it was actually happening. maybe i will make another post talking more about how Quackity’s relationship with Schlatt affected him even after Schlatt’s death and/or about Quackity’s relationship with Glatt
part 4: final thoughts
i’m not exactly sure why the nuances in Schlatt and Quackity’s relationship get lost when it comes to the fandom, but it’s pretty disappointing to see. hopefully this essay can help people take a closer look at canon and maybe even help them find something interesting that they’d want to explore!
tho the point of this essay is to clear up any misconceptions and hopefully add some nuance to the conversations surrounding Schlatt and Quackity’s relationship, i also wrote it in hopes of showing people how fascinating these two partners in crime were back in the Manburg days. i didn’t cover everything but i think i did a pretty good job for my first analysis post in the dsmp fandom
also since you read to the end, i must say thank you! it really does means a lot to me that you did. i hope you enjoyed and maybe even learned something. this post can be used as a resource if anyone wants to use it as such
here’s a tiny devil Quackity for your troubles <3

Tommy’s character and the theme of failure
One thing I’ve always rather appreciated about Tommy’s story in the Dream SMP is how it explores the idea of failure. It can be a challenging one to do right as it means exploring a character’s weakness a lot and can start to feel unsatisfying if the character never succeeds but I feel like Tommy’s story avoids this issue as his arc is ultimately an encouraging one. His character never stops trying or gives up in spite of his losses, showing the perseverance to keep going until eventually he starts to find happiness, no matter how elusive it seems.
Tommy’s character is no stranger to failure of course but I’d say this theme starts to become prominent with November the 16th. Tommy had two goals: to save L’Manberg and to save Wilbur. He was pretty optimistic about both. And he failed. The day ended in disaster with Wilbur dead, Technoblade, his idol, mocking his heroism and telling him to die, and his home in ruins. It takes him a long time to come to terms with who Wilbur was, separating Wilbur into two in his mind: President Wilbur and the ‘crazy’ Wilbur who blew up L’Manburg.
But Tommy continues on, quietly moving on as L’Manburg gets rebuilt. No matter what, he still believes in L’Manburg; it’s still alive. Also, he wants to finally get his remaining disc back from Dream, feeling the need to do this after putting it aside for so long.
But of course, things don’t go well. That which he had taken for granted, his bond with Tubbo, was under fire. His personal wish to get his discs back was causing division. A simple prank gone wrong was tearing everything apart as Dream threatened L’Manburg once again. None of these things were purely Tommy’s actions, and yet his actions played a part all the same as Dream essentially took advantage of all of Tommy’s weaknesses. Tommy was being viewed as a liability, a troublemaker, as self-centred, as a problem.
Tommy’s character likely blamed himself somewhat for his failure with Wilbur and L’Manburg the first time but it had been out of his hands and his reactions were more shock than being truly broken by the events and he kept up his optimism. Yet this time, the problems were not things far beyond his control. It seemed it was his own mistakes spelling his doom and it impacted him quite severely. As much as he recognised Dream as an antagonist here, his friends distrust of him was his failure. Despite his best efforts, he could not convince Tubbo not to exile him.
Rather than seeing the fairly resilient, optimistic Tommy like the first time he was banished, this time Tommy’s defeated. We see the full effects it takes on his mental state and the narrative does not pull its punches. Tommy’s already depressed and we start to see evidence of suicidal thoughts very quickly. This is all made far, far worse by Dream who encourages his dark thoughts and feelings of worthlessness, telling him everyone’s better off without him while breaking his spirit and making him miserable by repeatedly blowing up his items.
Dream was of course Tommy’s enemy, he’d recognised before that what Dream had been doing to L’Manburg, with the obsidian walls and insisting on banishing Tommy, had been unfair even if Tommy had been helpless to stop him. Yet over exile we see him really start to internalise Dream’s words, starting to really believe that narrative that he is unloved and a liability, despite his best efforts. As his mental state worsens we see him starting to believe Dream’s lies so much that he begins to believe that Dream is really his friend who cares about him. Meanwhile, he’s angrier and lashing out at the people he cares about, we seem him kill Jack, break the bridges he built and generally lashing out at the people he misses the most.
So through exile, we see Tommy at his weakest and most vulnerable. We also see some of his flaws with his uglier side, his uncontrolled emotions, his dependency on others, his deep self-worth issues and how he can be so successfully lied to. This deep exploration of Tommy’s character allows us to really see how the repeated failures and setbacks and losses affected his character mentally and depict it as yet another obstacle he needs to overcome.
And ultimately he does, ultimately deciding to fight back and run away from exile on his own. Tommy’s arc goes to very depressing places but manages to remain an inspiring story by showing you at his weakest and yet also show him never truly giving up but pressing on, in search of that happy ending. Running away from exile has him also realising that Dream is his enemy, not his friend and he commits to fighting back against him.
But of course the narrative doesn’t entirely move on. Tommy’s struggles and failures continue to plague him as the mental issues he has with self-worth and his confused feelings towards Dream do not go away. He managed to continue but that wasn’t the perfect victory as most of his problems are still there and he’s still the same person. at Techno’s house, we see him and his confusion. He’s lighthearted and joking about but he’s still deeply troubled without a clear stance on Dream or L’Manburg or Tubbo and he clings to the idea of the disc as a simple goal. It seems as if he’s doomed to become the person he hated or make the same mistakes again. He once failed to save Wilbur and it seems as if his greatest failure would be to go down Wilbur’s path too, blowing up the country he once loved.
And Tommy nearly goes too far. He finally meets Tubbo again and his anger, his issues all come back as does some self-centred behaviour as he declares that ‘the discs are worth more than you ever were’.
And he immediately regrets it. He apologises, he turns around and gives them up to Dream. He won’t let himself turn into Wilbur.
And yet, every little victory he fights so hard for is met with an even greater failure. He switches sides on Technoblade while giving Dream exactly what he wanted. His story isn’t a happy one in spite of him trying his very best and making the decisions that are right for him. And we can only wonder how inevitable it was or if he could’ve done better for he hurts Techno deeply. Is he doing better or does his very nature doom him to make the same mistakes again and again?
Once ore, we see L’Manburg blown up and this time Tommy declares it a lost cause. Despite his best efforts, it’s over and we can only stare at the ruins of the nation he’d once helped build with Wilbur. Additionally, Tommy is dead to Techno now, that relationship seemingly broken forever.
But it’s not the end. Tommy is defeated once more, with each failure hitting harder than the last but he doesn’t give up. He keeps on fighting. For all he’s lost, he’s won Tubbo back, and the experiences may have been terrible but he has learned something through all of it. Even if all that is, is understanding suffering a bit better and getting back the courage to apologise and reconcile.
He and Tubbo go after Dream and it’s almost, almost too late. He’s nearly locked in prison forever and Tubbo almost killed.
But it’s not end. Just this once, it’s not a failure. They bet it all and finally had that victory. The rest of the server comes to save them and Dream gets locked in his prison while Tommy and Tubbo are finally free.
Course, Tommy’s story isn’t over there. And the thing with this theme of failure is that it keeps on cropping up. They may have finally gotten a victory but Tommy’s issues aren’t over. he tries to start again, building his hotel but the trauma from exile has made an impact on him. It’s something that can’t be solved in a day, but only over a long time. And despite everything, the issues keep coming back. Tommy feels like things are unresolved with Dream and visits him again.
And he gets locked in prison and dies and then gets resurrected. And its all absolutely devastating and it seems as if Tommy will never get better, that he’ll never truly have his happy ending. His hotel gets stolen from him and its as if everything he tries to do ends in failure.
He tries to sort things out, tries solving things with killing Dream and it just gets Ghostbur killed and the guilt can only eat at him. Wilbur is back at Tommy’s afraid but time has passed and he’s starting to see Wilbur more for who he is. After all he’s been through, he understands him way better than he did before. He once more commits to helping him but Tommy isn’t the naive kid he once was.
Tommy still lives in the very same spot he always did. He still wants the same things he always did: a home, security, peace, friends, and he’s been experiencing many losses. And yet, his story is not a hopeless one. Because in spite of all that’s happened, he’s still trying again. And he’s learned and can avoid making those mistakes again. Right now, he’s doing better, he’s committing to living peacefully in a way he hasn’t in a long time. He’s been attempting to build bridges and though all his failures haunt him, he is gradually healing day by day, still trying to find that happy ending.
I think Tommy’s story is very cool for the way it really explores these themes of failure. It does not pull its punches, its dark, never easy or straightforward but that’s also what makes it so powerful. Those bright spots, feel so good, they feel so rewarding because they were so hard-fought. We root for Tommy’s character because we’ve seen his journey and really feel he deserves his happy end even though its never going to be perfect and indeed every failure is a mixture of forces outside of his control and his character which he has been trying to improve, learning to be nicer, more forgiving and more aware of his own emotions. He can’t fix Dream nor does he know how best to help Wilbur but he can help himself and that’s what he’s always trying to do. He holds himself to account and always tries his best.

Gender reveal (pregnancy series)
Again just like my last part of this series gender is on a spectrum and changeable but this is the common term so that is what I'm going to use but I still believe that everyone is valid no matter their gender.
Series masterlist
George:
Me and George didn't have any big plans for telling family because it really wasn't that big of a thing over in England to do gender reveals (I think this is true like I never really hear about them over here but some people do do them) so we decided just to tell them in person. Today George's parents are coming over so we are going this chance to tell them because they know that we were able to find out at our last appointment.
They arrived and brought dinner with them which was very unnecessary but also very nice of them to help us out like that. We ate dinner together just kind of casually nothing too serious because all of us are so close that we don't often do proper family dinners or whatever unless it is Christmas. After dinner George's mum helped me with washing the dishes before we sat down on the sofa together to play some games but not before me and George told them the news.
"Ok so you know that we found out the gender so we wanted to tell you" I started
"We're having a girl" George exclaimed
"Thats so exciting I can't wait to buy cute little things for her" his mum said
They were so excited to go out and buy little things for their granddaughter that she could keep as memories which put things into a whole new perspective for both me and George to the point that we both felt so unprepared because we have nothing for the baby and were already halfway through the pregnancy.
Dream:
Clay wanted to do something for his family and mine to reveal the gender so we set up a little party with just close family where we were going to tell them using a onesie clay had made with his trademark smiley face on it in pink with a white background which was actually really cute and I can't wait till she can wear it.
I have been setting up decorations out in the garden all morning it's not a whole lot but it has taken me a while because I keep getting distracted. When it was done there was balloons in blue and pink as well as bunting and table cloths and we had cupcakes with different colour icing on them just for fun. Everything actually looked pretty good with a bit of straightening up from where my brain had just thought of something else that needed doing it would be perfect.
Our families soon arrived and enjoyed the cupcakes and chatted about what they thought we were having. Once it felt like a good time Clay got the box that we wrapped the onesie in and brought it outside so we could let them open it, both of our moms opened it together while the rest of our families watched from behind them. They opened the box and pulled out the onesie looking at it for a second before it sunk in what they were holding.
"Congratulations you two" my mom said
"This onesie is so cute did you get it made?" His mom asked
"Yes I did and I got a few others but they haven't arrive yet" Clay said
"Wait I didn't know there was going to be more" I said
He is full of surprises this man but I'm not going to lie I was quite looking forwards to this one.
Sapnap:
Seeing as Sapnap's family have been so supportive of us we wanted to do something for them to announce the gender so Sapnap and I have been planning a little party for everyone where we are going to cut a cake to tell them the gender. I also thought it would be fun to have a little box for people to put guesses of what they thought we were having in and we would total it up before the reveal to see if they were right.
Everyone came over and we talked for a while with them trying to get information out if me to try and make their guesses on the gender. We took the box with all the slip of paper in and me and Sapnap counted them together.
"Thats 3 for boy and 9 for girl" I said
It was kind of funny to see the results especially knowing what the baby actually is. Sapnap gave me a look and we grabbed the knife we had prepared and I put my hand on his so we could cut the cake we had together. We cut a slice to reveal the blue sponge inside which we showed everyone and their reactions were priceless because they definitely didn't expect us to be having a boy.
"It's a boy" Sapnap exclaimed
"There is no way I was sure it was a girl" his mom said
No one believed us to start with but we managed to convince them as time went on.
Quackity:
Me and Alex had told all of our family separately in person but he still wanted to film a video that won't go out for a while but he wanted to do it for fun. He wanted us to do old wives tales to see if they were accurate. He had some ready that he wanted to do some of which seemed more scientific than others but we did them all anyway.
We started with the ring test where we took one of my rings I wear all the time and used a strand of my hair to hover it over my bump. It swung in a straight line which indicated girl which we marked down on a white board. Next we did the mirror test and I looked into the mirror for a minute to see if my pupils dilated which they didn't which also indicated girl.
The next one we did was kind of gross and involved baking soda which we had to put into a cup of my pee and see if it fizzed which it did which indicated boy. The last one we did was the heartbeat test which said that if the heartbeat was over 140 it is a girl which our baby's was.
I was quite surprised that they were mostly right but of course the fans didn't know that so we had to do a final reveal where we told them that it was a girl. I'm quite excited for the video to go out after we tell fans about the pregnancy because it was actually quite fun to film.
Karl:
We didn't really have anything planned but the mr beast crew set up a little party for us where we could tell them the gender because they are so desperate to know. To actually reveal it we decided to get a balloon with blue confetti inside it despite knowing when it popped it would scare me it was going to be fun for everyone else.
They had set everything up pretty extravagantly because that’s how they do things, there was so many decorations and way too much food for anyone to eat. We had a nice time though eating way too much food and Chris gave us a bunch of advice for when baby arrives.
Eventually we got up and brought in the balloon and got ready to pop it with a knife, Karl held the knife while I held the string of the balloon. He gave me a warning before he popped it still made me flinch and I felt the baby jump inside me but when I opened my eyes after just a split second and there was confetti everywhere.
"We're having a boy" Karl practically squealed
"Yay Tucker can have a little friend" Chris said
Wilbur:
Me and Wilbur have told all of our family the gender of the baby but no friends know so he invited some to our place to hang out and so we can tell them the gender. We have spent most of the morning cleaning the place and sort of setting up like cooking and baking but now everything is pretty much ready as people are arriving.
Phil arrived first and brought us some baby clothes which was very sweet of him, all of the others arrived not long after and we all sat down to talk and tell when what we are having. Wilbur had ordered some onesies for the baby which were pink which we were going to show the group. Wilbur left the room for a minute at some point and came back with the onesie in his hands but behind his back.
"I got this the other day and its just to cute" he said holding it up
"Wait does that mean your having a girl?" Tubbo asked
"Yeah we are" I said
They were all very excited and can't wait to meet her but for now they can look at the bump which I did let them feel which I don't let most people do but Tommy especially was so excited I thought why not.

There was apparently some interesting Foolish lore yesterday that I missed, so time for my notes on it!
The part of interest starts around 02:06:27 if not a bit before and it starts with Foolish wanting to take a break from building to destroy stuff. The prison is stuff in this case.

So, Foolish’s plan here is to break Dream out in the hopes that there will be a bounty in case of recapture (hopefully some gold) which, as we know, is not the case. The actual reaction would be Sam hunting down whoever freed him until they’re completely dead
Foolish does get a few blocks into the mining. Like, quite a few blocks... Sam never notices
“Somewhere in there there’s a green boy, that’s probably worth a lot of money” Foolish has his priorities in order
Tumblr media
(Just to clarify, Quackity wasn’t in on it and Foolish hesitated in telling him what he was doing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Reminder that Quackity is very much Sam’s ally and generally respects his strength enough to not want to risk having him as an enemy)
After that Foolish decides to cover the hole he made up, but remember where he put it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Very, VERY interesting exchange)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Foolish truly often fails to think about things long term. He’s similar to Tommy in that aspect)
“Villain arc? I’m not being a villain. I’m not releasing Dream so Dream can go be Dream again” Yep, all he wants is money and, somehow he convinced himself that this would be a good and easy way to get them, truly a citizen of Las Nevadas
Tumblr media
(Another reminder from Quackity that Sam is indeed working with them and that he doesn’t wanna lose that partnership)
Tumblr media
(Quackity left right after this, they haven’t had the meeting yet, but it’s probably gonna be soon, and there is a possibility that Quackity may reveal to the other members of Las Nevadas what he’s been doing with the prison)
After that conversation Foolish wondered for a bit if freeing Dream could be beneficial to Las Nevadas as Dream would most likely go after their competition, but quickly discards the idea noting that it would come to bite them in the ass very quickly. It would be quicker than he thinks actually, since he doesn’t know about Quackity’s extra-curricular prison visits...
“I’m not trying to be best friends with the guy, again I’m just trying to... you know what I mean?” The amount of times he had to specify both that he doesn’t like Dream and that he doesn’t have anything against Tommy and is only interested in profit was something else... and also having to specify that he’s not canonically Dream’s brother as Puffy is not Dream’s mom. People say that c!Tommy enthusiasts are annoying with the family dynamics, but I’ve only seen this type of sh*t with c!Dream actually
Final thoughts under the cut
It wasn’t much, but it is really interesting. Apparently there will be either a meet-up between Quackity, Sam and Foolish or between the Las Nevadas crew soon, and that’s bound to be a pretty lorey stream.
Then there are a few points that people seem not to want to get through their head:
1) Foolish and Puffy are not canonically Dream’s family. Neither of them even likes him. Please people, stop trying to bring it up every time they so much as mention him.
2) Foolish is not part of Snowchester anymore. He’s not allied with them and he’s not even particularly friends with them. The biggest tie he has with them is being slightly upset about Tubbo and Ranboo commissioning the Mansion and then ending up never using it.
3) He doesn’t actually particularly dislike Tommy at all. He has confirmed multiple times that he didn’t want to damage Tommy’s house as it’s “the nicest thing he’s built” (I would argue that to be the outpost by the prison, but everyone has different tastes I suppose). He also helped him getting Shroud and generally hang out with him when “cleaning up” the server.
4) He IS a member of Las Nevadas and yes, he was manipulated into joining, but he does genuinely care right now. He respects Quackity and one of the things he wondered with the whole “breaking Dream out of prison” thing is if it would benefit his community as a whole. Also his main motive to do stuff is acquiring more gold which kinda aligns with their whole money aesthetic. You wanting him to go back to Snowchester or to join Dream isn’t gonna change that, drop it.
Generally his chat is pretty chill honestly, but yesterday really wasn’t it.

A Visit From… Punz (Second Visit)
Relationship: platonic
Pronouns: unspecified/kept neutral
The door slams open and a loud huff is heard, you look over at an infuriated Punz who marches up to you and practically shoves a pouch into your hands.
"What’s the best I can get with this!" He sounds demanding and you give him a curious look before looking inside the bag to find a decent number of emeralds and diamonds inside.
"You seem very tense, have a seat and try to cool down a little while I get something for you." You say in a calm matter, hoping to not aggravate him any farther then he already was. He drops himself down on the couch so hard you worried it would break. "Care to tell me what’s on your mind, it might help." You ask casually while looking through several chests and picking out potions that were worth the payment he gave you, a part of you wanting to know what was egging at him so much.
"Fundy stole Beenus!" He starts, you hold back a laugh at the name knowing that would just anger him more and let him continue. "Then he makes this stupid game for me to play and yet I don’t even know if I won or not! And you know what? To add insult to injury he convinced everyone there that I’m the one in the wrong! So you know what they did? They took my stuff, destroyed some of my tower and basically declared war! They didn’t even give me a chance to explain myself properly, they just believed Fundy!… Although I did get one thing from him…" He pauses and you look over to see him hold up a pair of netherite pants. You would’ve said something about the pants but after hearing about everything he lost you decided against it.
"I see…" You trail off a second before a question pops into your head. "Mind telling me who’s all involved with this war?"
"Me, Sapnap, Dream, George and Karl was helping vs. Fundy, Niki, Tommy, Tubbo and I’m pretty sure Quackity sided with them too." He recalls trying to remember everyone involved.
"Okay," you acknowledge, though you didn’t know who Karl was (yet), making your way over and placing the potions from your inventory in front of him. "Well with the payment you gave me, these are what I can offer back, but if you want something with longer lasting effects… well you know it’s a trade of quality over quantity." You say as you place down the last of the potions. He looks them over seeing the different varieties you had to offer.
"Is this strength and resistance put into one?" He questions holding up a bottle with two different coloured liquids swirling around together, corresponding with the effects he mentioned. You nod and he smile with intrigue.
"I call it the warriors portion for short since it provides good defence and offence at once for battle." You say proudly.
"Nice. These will do perfectly, thanks (y/n)." Punz places the rest of the potions into his inventory before getting up and readying himself to leave. You give a nod and wave him off as he treks back over to the Greater SMP equipped with simple diamond armour.
Remembering Niki and Tommy's visit and hearing Punz side of the story you can’t help but feel that no one was really in the right over this conflict, both sides suffered loses and both sides thought getting revenge was the way to go to solve it. You sigh at the thought, this is exactly why you prefer to stay neutral to everyone, because all this back and forth tends to lead to nothing but more trouble. Although your next visit would prove that not all wars had to be physical to be problematic…

Blood of the Country in Veins
Tumblr media
Familial c!Tommy x gender neutral reader
Requested by: N/A
Proofread: No
Music: [Horrortale Remix] SharaX-Ravenous
Warnings: c!Tommy's exile, reader wears a suit, reader kind of babying Tommy (but in a protective way)
Summary: You're forced to choose between your brother and the country you bled for. The choice you make will forever ruin the relationship you tarnished.
Author's note: One of my friends gave me this idea. I really like protective older sibling reader. Also, I haven't seen exile in forever so I'm sorry if things aren't accurate and people are OOC. (Rather short tbh I can totally make this a series if people want. I left it pretty open-ended.)
-Mod Kenma
The silence was deafening. There you stood, apart of Tubbo's cabinet, watching your little brother get sentenced to exile. You couldn't believe it. During all of the meetings, this sentence was never mentioned. Did they decide this behind your back? By the look on Quackity and Fundy's faces, they seemed to be just as surprised as you are. "T-Tubbo what are you doing?" You pulled on the collar of the button-up nervously. Fidgeting when nervous was something both you and Tommy did; a force of habit.
The look Tommy gave you broke your heart. Pure betrayal with tears that threatened to spill mushed together in his baby blue eyes. "Tubbo you can't exile my brother, your best friend." You tried to convince Tubbo that what he was doing was a grave mistake. Time felt like it was slowing. This couldn't be real. "Tubs...." You grabbed one of his hands. "..please. I'll beg if I have to. Not Tommy."
Tubbo stood his ground. He was going to exile Tommy. "If you exile him, you're gonna have one less cabinet member." You took a step towards Tommy, itching to pull him close. Both boys looked at you surprised. Your little brother looked like he was about to burst into tears. Before Tubbo could say anything, you took off your L'Manburg pin. You walked open to your brother with open arms. Tommy raced to you, enveloping you like his life depended on it.
You looked back on the cabinet and L'Manburg with tired eyes. The place you fought for, lost a life for, was no longer the same. Tommy had lost more than you for L'Manburg and seeing him lose the nation in its entirety made your heart ache. You thought that maybe Tubbo would have been able to see past all of the politics and stand by you two. You grabbed Tommy's hand tightly as Dream escorted you two out. You held your head high, not looking back. Exile was going to be the new normal and you were prepared for that.
Dream, Tommy, and yourself squeezed into a boat. Tommy was on your lap, giving Dream enough space to row the boat. The only thing filling the silence was the soft pitter-patter of the rain beginning to hit the water. You shrugged off your blazer and held it over yourself and Tommy, giving him most of it. The man in green stopped the boat on a sandy beach. You cringed at the thought of getting out of the boat with your shoes on. You were the first to get out, dunking your clothed feet into the cold water. A small hiss came out of your lips as you turned to Tommy. He was about to follow your lead but you stopped him.
You picked him up silently, making sure his legs were tightly wrapped around your hips. He held onto your blazer tightly as you walked to shore. Dream followed you and built you two a tent. It was honestly terrible but you were frightened of pushing the masked man's buttons, afraid of what he would do to the two of you. "Thank you Dream." You said, trying your best to be polite. Once he left, you got to work. Tommy was too shocked about being exiled to help so you left him in the tent. You rolled up your sleeves and gathered wood.
You were able to build a better shack to live in and was able to gather more supplies. "Don't worry Toms. We'll get through this. With enough work, we'll be able to flourish here." Little did you know Dream would make your and Tommy's life a living hell.

did i do that p2
paring implied past platonic tommy/tubbo/ranboo x reader
tw: cursing, de realisation, mentions of suicide/death/paranoia
TW: de realisation, mentions of suicide/death/paranoia
Dear quackity,
if you’re reading this, it’s too late. you’ve probably noticed me and dream are nowhere to be found, you may ask yourself why did sam let the pair out well the answer to that is simple. he didn’t i’m sure you can find what remains of him somewhere around the prison. you really have yourself to blame, now before you start to get defensive and say ‘i didn’t do anything this is bullshit everyone’s trying to attack me’ let me tell you why. before you decided to give us weekly visits just to abuse us mentally and physically, we couldn’t stand each other. I’d go as far as to say I despised dream, but you helped unite us against a common enemy..you. now we’re unstoppable. I'll spare you the details of what happened to your precious warden. see you soon - Y/n + dream :)
“do you think he’ll be convinced we killed sam?”
“dream i’m in here for the murder of a child, of course he’s going to believe it.”
of course the pair of you didn’t actually kill sam, dream simply manipulated ranboo whilst he was enderwalking into bringing supplies you’d need. you have no idea how he managed, but at this point you didn’t care. you know damn well you shouldn’t be in this prison as you didn’t kill michael. you knew this because the ghost, at least you hope it’s his ghost and that your mind wasn’t messing with you, would stand in the corner of the cell telling you that it wasn’t you who murdered him that night. It was a range of factors: the skeletons, fear, pure exhaustion of trying to run from the mobs after him. you often found yourself ranting to dream about what you had been seeing every night for the past god knows how many months at this point, but alas it was no use. he swore he hadn’t seen anyone but you, occasionally sam, and quackity, definitely not the ghost of michael. It was now midnight according to the clock hanging on the wall. the plan was pretty simple, you would scream that dream had disappeared, causing sam to run into the cell, from then you’d use the rope ranboo gave dream to make temporary handcuffs, and whilst you all make your way to the locker room, where you’d temporarily keep sam assuming quackity would find him sooner or later, then that was it you’d finally be free.
“ready?” you nodded and dream hid in the corner, you couldn’t shake the feeling that you were being watched, but nevertheless you began screaming that dream disappeared, laughing to yourself as you heard the platform moving towards the cell.
“y/n calm down what do you mean- dream get off of me i don’t want to have to kill you but i will!”
dream rolled his eyes as you tied sams hands together.
“shut the fuck up sam, do you understand how pathetic you sound? you’re outnumbered you’re not going to do anything. if you know what’s good for you and your beloved quackity, you’ll tell us which pocket has your key cards in, okay?” this seemed to trigger something in sam as within 10 minutes you and dream had him in the locker room.
“bye sam, i’m sure your boyfriend will come and collect you soon enough, we left him a letter in the cell and a note from you where you always sit saying to just go on through, don’t miss us too much!”
there you both stood, in-front of the now locked locker room, no home, no friends, no plan, but you were free, that's all that matters to you.
“dream, i have something to ask, okay? promise no matter whatever happens, whether you don’t see me for weeks or you over hear something, you won’t come looking for me.“
“stay safe y/n, a lot of people aren’t going to be happy you’re out. whatever you do, avoid quackity.”
and just like that you went your separate ways, where dream went, you have no idea, you’ll probably hear something soon enough. as for you, well you didn’t really have a plan, you weren't really sure you wanted to be alive at this point. there was a little voice that sounded a lot like tommys ringing in your head, telling you to go to the old base you and tommy made years ago, so that’s where you went. you were clinging onto the hope tommy would be there and let you explain what happened that night, you’d make up then just like old times you’d plait his hair, as the pair of you sat under moonlight listening to whichever disk tommy felt like playing that night. this of course wasn’t the case, instead you were met with previous memories of your friendship. a photo book lay in the middle of the floor as if someone knew you escaped and would go to this base, you shut the door locking it behind you for your own safety, remembering what ranboo said to you the day you were thrown in the prison. picking up the photo book you noticed something odd, the words ‘i know what you did’ and ‘i know where you are’ were scratched into the leather cover. you threw the book onto the floor scared as hell. after you calmed down, you picked the book up from the floor, which was now open on the page of a group photo of you tommy and michael, which ranboo had taken the day you both agreed to babysit him for a while. as you flicked through the book, the images got dark. It went from photos of you tubbo ranboo and tommy laughing at the beach to the night michael was killed. the last page made your blood run cold, there was two photos, one was of michaels funeral, and the second was a picture of you sat in the middle of the base holding the photo book. this was the final straw. You were no longer in control of your breathing, you began feeling like you were being preyed on by something who really wasn’t happy with you and wanted you gone, you picked up the book one last time and everything was gone. the book was back to normal no threatening messages no pictures of michaels death or of you looking through the book, the cover was back to its original state full of happy memories of when you were friends with everyone, back when you were happy.
“hello y/n.”the rooms temperature dropped suddenly you began feeling like you were being watched, you turned around to see michael sat on the floor holding a photo book a lot like the one that caused you to panic.
“hey y/n why are my parents acting like they can’t see me anymore? this isn’t funny anymore, i miss them. can you talk to them?”
“michael... this isn’t real. you’re not real. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!”
everything went silent as if the world stopped turning for a few seconds, that’s when you heard the child laughing.
“what do you mean i’m not real? of course i am!”
“michael darling, you're dead remember, we spoke about this in prison. the skeletons shot you in the nether”
you continued talking to michael, not even realising ranboo had followed you to the base and was watching you talk to the wall.
“who are you talking to?”
you honestly didn’t know whether you felt relieved he was there with you or if you were pissed he found you, either way you ran to him pulling him into a hug despite him constantly telling you to let go of him.
“michael, he’s over there.”
“Is this some sick joke? There's no one there. he’s dead. you killed him!”
“ranboo please.. you, you don’t understand i didn’t kill him. please just let me explain what happened. he was surrounded by skeletons. they shot him please, you have to understand I loved that boy, I still do, I would never do something like that!”
“save it y/n, i don’t want to hear it now if you don’t mind i’m going to go tell sam that you have somehow escaped.”
you fell to your knees as ranboo walked away, you sat alone with the quiet comprehension of the ending of it all before realising if someone comes back you would be in big trouble, just before you was about to begin the long walk back to dream he showed up to the base you were currently crying in, not knowing tubbo and ranboo were not far behind him listening in to your conversation with dream.
“dream please i’m begging at this point. Please end my suffering. I can't do this anymore, no one’s listening to me. I CAN'T KEEP LIVING LIKE THIS! there’s a bow and arrow in that chest over there.”
“y/n, this isn’t a funny joke.”
“dream, do i look like i’m joking?”
“y/n..”
“hey, what can you say? we were overdue.”
tubbo and ranboo couldn’t believe what they were hearing right now, their best friend was about to die and there was nothing they could do about it. as soon as they heard dream open the chest, they ran as fast as they could to go and get tommy.
dream left straight away, it was hard to feel regret when you’re used to bloodshed. tommy couldn’t believe what tubbo and ranboo said and was convinced they were messing with him.
“Oh, I'm sure they did. how’d they get out the prison? did they fly out?”
he stood laughing, tubbo stood staring in disbelief, ranboo stood wiping his eyes trying not to cry knowing it would scar if he did. tubbo shook his head and grabbed his husbands hand for comfort.
“you’re really joking at a time like this?”
“we should tell phil.”
the three of them made their way to phil, guilt following them as they went they couldn’t believe what just happened. after they told phil, they all made their way to the base. as soon as the three teenagers saw the trail of blood dream left behind, they completely broke down and began walking, holding onto each other in an attempt to convince themselves this didn’t happen, and that you would be there. phil went in and saw your lifeless body laying there, knowing the others wouldn’t be able to handle seeing you like this, he sent them away to go and get technoblade. A few days later they found themselves sitting with puffy explaining what happened and what you had told them. realisation slowly hit them that you did in fact not kill michael, they felt awful the three of them couldn’t sleep since the day you passed. after the funeral, they often found themselves at your house as it was the only place that they could sleep and feel as though you were still with them. everyday they would visit your grave, placing anything they found that reminds them of you, and would apologise for not believing you sooner. now you were gone and there was nothing they could do about it.
