Pairing: Vampire!Jungkook x human!fem reader

It was early afternoon and you and your best friend, Jungkook, were at your place sitting on the couch watching a movie together. The film of choice was a vampire movie—one of your favorites. Your eyes were glued to the screen, knowing exactly what was about to happen, as the both of you had seen the movie roughly a hundred times.

Someone (a vampire) was about to jump out at the main character, you both saw it coming. At the same moment the person jumped out in the film, Jungkook grabbed you and shouted loudly causing you to yelp in response.

The force from his sudden and lighthearted attack caused you to fall over onto your back, thankful that you were on the couch.

Jungkook hovered over you with a mischievous grin, giving you no time to react as he pretended to bite your neck by making playful growling sounds and nuzzling his nose against your skin.

"Jungkook stop!" You begged through giggles, the ticklish sensation making it hard to speak.

"I'm a vampire!" He exclaimed, continuing to act silly.

You were laughing so hard you could hardly breathe, making minimal effort to stop him due to all your squirming. After a few attempts, you were finally able to push him away a little. He took that as a sign to stop and propped himself up to gaze down at you, the movie long forgotten.

"What would you do if I was actually a vampire?" He asked, his tone lighthearted.

"Hypothetically?"

"Of course."

You huffed out a light chuckle, amused by his question and always up for a little theoretical discussion about things like that.

"I wouldn't care. Vampires are literally my favorite supernatural creature. Plus, it's you. I know you wouldn't hurt me."

He grinned.

"But vampires aren't real, so I know you're not one."

His smile faltered a bit. "Yeah. They're not, are they?"

"But if they were, I wouldn't be bothered."

His smile returned.

He leaned down and gave you a light kiss on your forehead. Affectionate gestures like that weren't uncommon in your friendship, however, they didn't help your crush on Jungkook. As much as you had wanted to confess your feelings, you were also afraid that you were misinterpreting the gestures. Some people are just very affectionate, though you couldn't really recall anyone you knew that platonically kissed their friends.

"Do you like me or something?" The question was asked teasingly and in a playful manner, but you were hoping to get a serious response.

"What?" He asked, surprise lacing his tone.

"Well, you're always giving me little kisses on my face. Do you like me?" You tried to keep your tone light, playing it off as if you were just teasing him.

His expression changed and his eyes avoided yours. "Well..." He trailed off.

The mood shifted, turning more serious.

"Don't be afraid to be honest with me, Jungkook. We've known each other for three years." You encouraged him.

"Yes." He sighed, his eyes closing as if to avoid seeing your reaction.

"I knew it!"

"Y/n, don't embarrass me about it." He huffed.

"Why should you feel embarrassed? I feel the same way about you."

"You feel the same way?"

"Was it not obvious? I let you give me kisses all the time and cuddle with me. I don't ever push you away or tell you to stop. Could you not take a hint?"

"No?" He said it like a question.

"You big goober." You giggled and delivered a light smack to his shoulder.

"I'm not a goober." He defended through laughter. "I just wasn't sure how you felt. That's all."

Your joint laughter soon faded and the room went completely silent, the atmosphere changing in a matter of seconds. Jungkook stared down at you with his big and innocent-looking doe eyes that never failed to make your heart leap. He gulped nervously.

"Can I kiss you?" He asked.

"You kiss me all the ti-"

"On the lips." He specified.

The beating of your heart sped up at his request, only managing to utter a meek, "Yeah."

He leaned down and pressed his lips against yours. He kissed you softly, being very gentle and almost hesitant in his actions at first. Only when you reciprocated did he pick up the pace, pressing his lips closer to yours and kissing you harder. What you were experiencing in that moment was nothing like you had ever imagined (and you did imagine it... many times). Raven strands of Jungkook's lengthy hair caressed your forehead as they fell, untucking themselves from behind his heavily pierced ears. The faint ticklish sensation paired with the feeling of his lips moving against your own and his hand that had found its way to your waist was a combination that made your head spin.

Bringing your hands up to his luscious hair, you slid your fingers between the layers of wavy tendrils, playing with his locks. He seemed to like that, as he released a mix between a groan and a sigh against your lips that had butterflies erupting in your stomach. It was after that he began to get rougher. His hands gripped your waist and then one of your thighs, squeezing so hard it almost hurt. The pace of his breathing got heavier and you could've sworn you heard a faint growl from the back of his throat.

He pulled away for only a moment, reattaching his lips to your jawline, his piercing dragging against your skin making your eyelids flutter. He placed hot kisses down the side of your neck where he started nipping at the sensitive skin. His hands went back to squeezing your waist, the inhuman grip making you wince.

As much as you enjoyed the moment, it was now getting to a point where it was no longer enjoyable for you and his intensity was making you nervous.

"J-Jungkook." You didn't mean to stutter, but things were heating up very fast and he didn't seem to realize how uncomfortable you were.

He nipped harshly at your neck, making you release a small squeak of surprise.

"Jungkook!"

As if your voice had broke through an invisible barrier, Jungkook snapped out of his daze and pulled away. He was breathing so heavily his shoulders were heaving up and down. His eyes were wide with fear as if he realized he was about to do something terrible.

He looked scared.

"What was that all about?" You inquired.

"I-I have to go." He scrambled off you and went to grab his keys.

"Jungkook-"

"I need to go right now, Y/n." His voice was firm as he spoke, walking out of your apartment without another word or even an explanation.

You sat there dumbfounded.

The door to your apartment slammed shut and just like that, you were left a confused and flustered mess on the couch.

He was in such a hurry to leave, barely managing to speak without stumbling over his words, it had you worried.

Was it something you did? Did he regret kissing you?

The longer you sat on the couch, stewing in your anxious thoughts, the worse you felt. It got to a point where it became unbearable and you found yourself reaching for your phone.

You sighed, leaning your head back on the couch cushions to stare at the ceiling, memorizing the texture while worrisome thoughts flooded your mind once again.

After sitting for an unknown amount of time, you decided to go check on Jungkook in person. He hadn't responded to your text and it was beginning to worry you. If you had somehow done something to make him uncomfortable, you wanted to know and you wanted it taken care of right away. The both of you had been through thick and thin together. Good times and bad times. And if something was bothering either one of you, you talked about it.

The first place you drove to was a nearby park, a place where the both of you liked spending time at, but Jungkook was nowhere to be found. If he needed to clear his head, you assumed he would've been there. The only other place he could possibly be was home.

It didn't take long for you to arrive at his apartment building since he lived nearby. You hastened inside and went straight to his floor.

When you arrived at his front door, you didn't bother knocking. The both of you had been friends for years and neither of you usually knocked when you visited each other.

You stepped inside and saw Jungkook's keys lying on the floor along with the glass dish that usually held them. The bowl looked as if it had been knocked over and a huge piece was broken off of it.

Oh no.

Your first thought was that he was hurt, or maybe someone had broken in. You hoped it was neither.

"Jungkook?" You called out.

"Y/n?" His startled voice came from the kitchen.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." He answered frantically.

"The glass dish by your door is broken. I thought you cut yourself."

"No. I'm fine."

You proceeded towards the kitchen, only for him to speak up when he heard you approaching the entryway.

"Don't come in here!"

"Why not?"

"I-uh I lied. I did cut myself. Sorry. I didn't want you to worry about me."

"I can help if you want." You responded, stepping into the kitchen.

"No please don-" Jungkook tried to stop you, but before he could finish his sentence, you were already standing in the doorway.

What you had expected to see was nowhere near the sight you were met with.

Jungkook's beautiful and captivating rich brown eyes were a deep shade of red, his mouth smeared with blood that matched his crimson irises. As if that wasn't jarring enough, you spotted two sharp fangs poking out of his mouth, which hung slightly agape in shock.

"Y/n. Don't freak out."

"You're a..." The sentence went unfinished, as your voice was stuck in your throat. You were too stunned to even utter the word that floated about in your head.

"Please don't be scared."

Jungkook took a step towards you, but you instinctively took one back, your actions making him frown.

Too overwhelmed, you spun around and took off towards the front door, jerking it open and bolting out as fast as you could.

You didn't get very far when your legs slowed and you came to a complete stop in the hallway as your rational thinking finally kicked in. What were you doing?

Jungkook's words from earlier that night replayed in your head.

"What would you do if I was actually a vampire?"

Your expression fell into one of disappointment, your heart sinking. It wasn't just a silly question. He was being serious when he asked you that.

Your words came to the forefront of your mind, hitting you like a knife to the chest.

"I wouldn't care. Vampires are literally my favorite supernatural creature. Plus, it's you. I know you wouldn't hurt me."

Why were you running away? What you said to him earlier was true, though you assumed the question was theoretical. Still, your answer was genuine. And yet, here you are standing in the hallway of his apartment building ready to flee like a scared animal.

Not only that, but it was clear Jungkook didn't want you to see him like that. He tried to stop you from coming into the kitchen and yet, you ignored him. If only you had listened. Then again, you thought he was hurt. You were worried. How were you supposed to know he was only trying to hide his identity from you?

There was no time for overthinking, you had to make things right.

Spinning around on your heel, you hurried back inside Jungkook's apartment.

When you found him, he was leaned over the kitchen counter, sniffling. His head shot up when he heard you enter the room.

"Y/n?" Your name was uttered weakly.

Clearly, he wasn't expecting you to return.

The blood had been cleaned from around his mouth and his appearance had returned to normal.

"I'm sorry." Your apology came out in a pathetically feeble voice, your jaw clenching to stop the tears that threatened to well up in your eyes.

Wasting no time, you ran up and hugged him as tightly as you possibly could. He wrapped his arms around you, relaxing in your hold as a sense of relief washed over him like a soothing wave.

"You asked me what I would think if you were actually a vampire. I answered honestly, though I thought you were just asking silly hypothetical questions. Now I see why you asked it in the first place." You sighed. "I'm really sorry for running away. I was caught off guard and unable to process everything."

"It's okay. That's completely understandable. Besides, I shouldn't have kept it a secret from you."

You pulled back and looked at him, gently wiping his cheeks where he had been crying.

"Hey. Through thick and thin. Remember?"

He nodded.

"So... we confessed to each other earlier. Does that mean I'm dating a vampire?"

Jungkook chuckled. "I suppose it does. As long as you're okay with that."

"Are you kidding? I'm more than okay with it."

He grinned at your response, swiftly sweeping you into his arms.

"What do you say we pick up where we left off earlier?"

"I like the sound of that." You giggled as he attached his lips to yours and carried you off to his room.

I’m excited for the renewal of GO3 but I’m also kind of a little worried for David because he’s been performing McBeth for 6 six weeks now and rehearsals are also killer and now their set to film GO? Just thinking about this exhausts me so I can’t imagine how he would feel (and Michael also for that matter since he’s been rehearsing for his own show). Also, please please PLEASE don’t let GT and AL be in GO PLEASE

All I can say is, it's about damn time we finally got this announcement. I am ineffably thrilled as well to know that we will have our boys back together in Scotland to bring us the resolution to Aziraphale and Crowley's story.

In terms of filming, I did see the press release that said GO 3 filming would begin "soon," but I think "soon" is a relative term here. David's run in Macbeth goes until early February, and then Michael is in Nye at the National Theatre from the end of February until May 11th. So "soon" likely means a good six months from now at the earliest (i.e., mid 2024). Hopefully that means both David and Michael will have time to rest up and prepare for the start of filming GO 3, but I would imagine them both feeling a sense of excitement and anxiety at their forthcoming schedules.

What I think Michael and David likely do not feel anxiety about, however, is the prospect of getting to spend more time with each other. And we know they are already seeing each other at least somewhat regularly right now, what with Michael being in London at the moment, so it stands to reason that Michael and David are going to be frequent fixtures in each other's lives and worlds for a very good portion of the next year. Lovely.

In terms of Georgia and Anna possibly being in S3, I will echo what @thereallovebug previously excellently said, which is that it is very tiring to think that we haven't even had the GO 3 announcement for a day, and already people are calling for them to be cast in the show, and it's just...can we not even fully process/absorb this news before jumping to yelling at Neil to cast people? Or maybe just skip the "yelling at Neil to cast people" part completely? I'm just confused as to why there has to be an immediate call to have them in the show when there may not even be a place for them in it.

I also keep thinking of the discussion that took place when the news about GO 2 first came out, which was that having any family member of Michael's or David's would be distracting, and we saw what ended up happening with Peter Davison and Ty. I thought Peter did very well as Job, but Ty just seemed out of place the entire time and it was like you could "see" him acting instead of just...being, and as a result, his performance did not quite gel with the rest of the scene.

The takeaway point here is that the role of Ennon could have gone to any number of aspiring young actors, talented actors looking for a shot at the big time, but who did not get to have that opportunity due to nepotism. It only makes sense, then, that the same would hold true for GT and AL. And to me, it's disrespectful to the show, to Neil, and to Michael and David at this point to act as if GO 3 is somehow "not good enough" unless GT and AL are in it. As if the thousands of other talented actors in the UK aren't good enough simply because they're not Georgia and Anna. I've been accused on multiple occasions of only disliking Georgia and AL because of who their partners are, but the fact that so many people are only fans of theirs for the same reason is apparently not a problem.

(I will not go into detail here about the myriad of reasons why people are fans of Georgia and AL's because of who their partners are, but I suggest reading this post from @artificial-indulgence, who has perfectly enumerated my own thoughts on the subject.)

It is for the reasons that are mentioned in the post I just linked to that I feel many fans are unwilling to see the reality of things, which is that Georgia is a passable actor, but Anna is not, and any halfway decent casting director is not going to overlook that. I'm thinking back to an Ask I answered yesterday about her being edited out of the photo used for the I Talk Telly Awards and (more significantly) that no one actually seemed to notice that she was missing.

Given that, it's highly unlikely that someone whose performances are so unmemorable would be cast in the third installment of a major global TV show--at least purely based on merit. And knowing how important this third season is, how it's meant to resolve Aziraphale and Crowley's story and give us what Neil and Terry envisioned so many years ago, it would be truly unfortunate to see all of that overshadowed by other things.

But yes, today was very much a day filled with good news (and which I wholeheartedly appreciated, given that I am dealing with some difficult personal issues at the moment). More thoughts to come in a follow up post, so stay tuned...

Hello! I love seeing the Black Butler fandom come back from the grave and I feel like it will stay alive for a while until 2024. Unlike the time Queen Elizabeth died and brought it back to life for a few weeks.

Anyways, I have a Ciel x reader. Basically it’s Ciel with a reader that’s gets called “Lady of the Night” because of her dark and mysterious appearance that represents the night. She talks like she’s a character from Edger Allen Poe’s poems and looks like she came straight out of a Tim Burton film. It can be hc of Ciel before he made the reader his s/o and after. Or it can be a oneshot. It’s up to you!

Ciel his still his canon age and reader is 14! (So a one year gap)

°Ciel met you during a very boring reception between the heads of some of most important brands in England. Tea, silks, furniture, land, cattle and well, his toy company.

°Small talk is something ciel is very good at, but absolutely despises. That’s why after his usual tactical greetings, he decided to just sit by a table with a small glass of champagne, Sebastian standing by his side.

°The only thing slightly amusing to do was to watch the other nobles go about their empty conversations.

°That’s where your father comes in. He’s been widowed for seven years, and was at the head of a very important jewelry and ornaments company. Ciel knew that he decided very early on to include the input of his young daughter in his commercial decisions, but the daughter in question was rarely seen.

°Ciel never met you, despite his numerous interactions with your father. Well, until tonight.

°He saw you walking at your father’s side, wearing a very deep and dark plum colored dress. Wearing an array of silver jewelry from your family’s company and striking eye makeup, that made your eyelids look like they were adorned with lace. An odd way for a lady to present herself…

°Ciel got up from his seat and got closer to the small circle that formed around you two, made by very intrigued nobles looking to poke and prod at you with their questions.

°As he greeted your father for the first time this evening, he noticed you were completely unbothered by the indiscreet questions thrown your way, answering with as much bluntness and a whimsy tone.

° « Pray tell my dear, have you found yourself a betrothed yet? » « It is not one of my priorities. »

°Here’s something he always dreamed of saying… He went to greet you and kissed your hand, but before he could say anything you perked up: « You have the most beautiful eye, my lord. »

°Sebastian chuckled under his breath as he saw his lord lose his composure.

°For the rest of the evening, you and Ciel sat down as you talked, and you even showed him the small sketchbook you carried around to draw down your ideas for new jewelry.

°You even started to draw a small portrait of him with a certain crow perched on his shoulder, which he didn’t even notice as he was hanging on each word you said. When he asked about the bird, you replied that « Sebastian made me think of one, it is a simple artistic liberty. Crows are very intelligent animals. »

°When you had to return home, you gifted him the portrait. « We will need to meet again soon, lord Phantomhive. You are truly an inspiration. » You said with a shier tone.

°He was blushing each time he thought of you on his ride back to the manor, and he would be caught dead before anyone knew he smiled while he was in bed that night. Much to Sebastian’s amusement.

Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess

Well, would you look at that: It's a rip request six months in the making!! I hope the wait will have been worth it, Memmy! And thank you endlessly for championing the blog so early on in its life <3.

Now - I recently spilled a lot of words regarding SiIvaGunner's fifth annual April Fools event back with Your Best Nightmario and Bowser's Finale, just four days ago. It is arguably one of the channel's all-time high points, an event that I still see discussed from time to time by random internet dwellers, even now three years later. And its clear to see why: akin to something like Mega Man Dropping January 7th‼️from earlier this year with Hella Pummel, Mario's "Death" on March 31st was an event that a huge part of the internet was already keenly aware of, one we'd all been anticipating, and one that SiIvaGunner in turn had a golden opportunity to leverage for an amazing channel event. From March 31st to April 3rd, we got to see Mario's existence as a figment be celebrated for one final day, then be entirely erased from the SiIvaGunner channel's reality at the day's end, only to then begin fighting tooth-and-nail in Your Best Nightmario for his memory to live on - a battle that, through our continued support as YouTube commenters, he was able to win in Bowser's Finale. A storybook journey, a clear beginning/middle/end structure, with a clearly-told message by the end of it all - Super Mario was back.

Yet, it still wouldn't be complete without that one last touch. Any book needs a back cover, any film its credits roll, any game a return to the title screen. Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess, then, was what truly closed the whole event out - and in typical SiIvaGunner fashion, did so in a deviously clever manner.

A lot of the appeal in this event as a whole, I feel, is just how easily understood the bit was at a moment's glance. Without even clicking on the videos, a viewer will notice Mario's gone, it's IMMEDIATELY apparent that something is wrong - and that likely drew a lot of eyes to the event that may have otherwise missed it. This shift in dynamics with how viewers engage with the SiIvaGunner channel is practically what this year's April Fools event, from just a few days ago, was entirely built on, yet there it was done in an incredibly tounge-and-cheek way. Because really, what it pretends to be doing almost goes against everything the channel is meant to be! The bait-and-switch, though not nearly as effective as it once was back in Season 1 with rips like Be Cool, Be Wild, and Be My Girl, IS core to what the SiIvaGunner channel is all about. It has always been a channel all about surprising you with something delightful, be that with surprise bangers like Beyond the Floating Isles, hilariously executed bits like THIS RIP WAS MADE BY TEETH GANG, or everything inbetween. There's a reason why I said that this year's event only *pretends* to be going against this - because the bit with this year's overly-explained, corny titles, is that the rips themselves still hold a secret bait-and-switch bit within them. Even when it appears to be quite literally explaining the joke, the channel hides further layers to rips just out of sight.

But what does all of that have to do with Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess? Well, what I'm trying to say isn't that the Season 5 April Fools day event betrayed the essence of SiIvaGunner or anything - rather, that by intentionally breaking its own rules for an entire day's worth of uploads, rules it had otherwise kept up for five whole years prior, it made this sudden subversion and the stakes of the event hit all the harder. That part may be rather obvious, sure, yet the brilliant thing here is that as a closer to the event, Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess employs the exact same trick in reverse order. Because after an entire day's worth of rips going against the grain, a storyline clear as crystal to follow no matter what rip you've landed on - the LAST thing anyone would've expected would be for it to close with something so seemingly low-key, standard-fare, outright NORMAL for the SiIvaGunner channel, as a single rip of Super Mario 64's Staff Roll theme. I'm sure many were expecting a grand fusion collab, some sort of CCC-esque lore video, a true mind-blowing celebration of the journey's end...and yet, to me, this return to normalcy is absolutely brilliant in so many ways, both as a subversion of those expectations, but on so many layers yet deeper. Yes, it marks the return to the SiIvaGunner status quo, it marks that Super Mario has finally been remembered - yet look beyond that, and you may just realize that Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess's one joke subtly hides layers of meaning, that almost recontexualize the entire event.

But, alright, let's get the ground rules set first - Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess is an absolutely lovely rip as is in isolation. Jiko Music is no stranger to the channel nor to the blog, having worked on several hidden-gem favorites of mine such as Trail on Powdery Snow Halation and YACKER TOILET - they very clearly know their way around a rip, and have a stellar track record over their seven years of activity. Super Mario 64's Staff Roll theme is a lovely piece of music already, one I covered a fair bit already with Staff Roll (SM64) Fusion, and Jiko Music absolutely leverages that quality to full effect here - its nostalgic percussion, melody, and instruments that sound so indescribably "Nintendo 64" push this arrangement to some truly excellent emotional heights. The original song's vocals are no longer here, akin to rips like Blessing the Dire, Dire Rains - yet through changing the lead melody's instrument from section to section, from verse to chorus, Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess is able to elegantly replicate how the original song's vocals would change per how many of its six vocalists were singing at any one time. It's a great rip!! ...but wait, what exactly IS the original song its arranging?

Alright, here we go - Fukashigi No Carte is the ending theme to the anime series "Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai", a story about many things, yet primarily about a mysterious girl suddenly made invisible to the world around her, dressed in the titular "bunny girl" costume. The immediate surface-level box to tick is, of course, that it's the ending theme to an anime, a credits roll to match the dramatic storyline of the event - but you may also start connecting some other dots, too, hm? Mai Sakurajima, the titular bunny girl, isn't merely made invisible to the world - she is FORGOTTEN by the public consciousness, her existence at all erased from all's mind, save for the series' protagonist who works to get the rest of the world to acknowledge her existence. Sakurajima's curse in the series is, effectively, that of a forgotten Figment - the fate that befell Mario in this very event, with us as the audience taking the role of the story's protagonist, together helping Mario win the fight against his fate by collectively remembering him.

That's a great reference all on its own, but there's another part left to discuss - the coolest part, I'd argue! Unlike comparable events such as Season 7's with ...of 2023, the Season 5 April Fools event spanned a total of five days - from the day Mario's execution was scheduled on the 31st, to April 1st itself when the event of his disappearance kicked into gear, a day-long break of April 2nd leaving his fate uncertain, the final push to resurrection on April 3rd, and the credits rolling on April 4th - which, during 2021 in particular, just so happened to be Easter. And do you notice anything in particular about this timeline of events? Executed on the 31st of March, brought back from the brink on April 3rd: Mario, just like Jesus Christ himself, AROSE ON THE THIRD DAY. Almost through sheer luck, the holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ fell *right* next to Mario's great story of returning from public execution - allowing the whole event to come to a close on the most perfect day imaginable. And aside from Jesus himself, what is THE thing that defines Easter as a holiday?

That's right - The Easter Bunny. Bunnies. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.

The way every single puzzle piece clicked into place for Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess to work is genuinely incredible and some of the coolest shit I've ever seen the channel pull off. Not only is the rip itself a beautiful listen, it nails the landing on every single imaginable front: Subverting the expectations of the entire event's premise by its return to the status quo of rips, connecting the very lore that the SiIvaGunner channel is built on to an anime series with a rather iconic and recognizable ending theme - and connecting the event's storyline to the very foundation of the Easter holiday, and one of the Bible's most well-known events. On the very last video of the event's runtime, Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess made SUPER FUCKING MARIO into a Jesus allegory within the SiIvaGunner channel - and if that's the case, does that make Grand Dad the holy spirit? Is SiIvaGunner ITSELF a loose allegory for Christianity?!

...Mamma Mia, this post got long. But I hope you've been able to understand why I have so many words to say on it - so many thoughts finally able to spill over in the three years I've spent ruminating on this incredible event. Mario's return itself after Bowser's Finale was already pitch-perfect, featuring a sudden reappearance of The Reboot from Season 1 (don't get me started, I'll be here all day) - but ending it all off with something so seemingly plain, yet hiding so many layers of beauty and connective tissue, as Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess...it, to this day, blows me away how perfectly the pieces clicked into place.

Nimona, the 2011-14 webcomic by ND Stevenson, turned into a graphic novel published on May 12, 2015, and adapted into a full cast audiobook on October 4, 2016, has been adapted into an animated movie!

The movie premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France on June 14, 2023. Netflix released a teaser trailer on May 18, 2023, a clip on June 8, 2023, a full trailer on June 14, 2023, another big clip on June 21, 2023, more footage on June 22, 2023, and another big clip on June 27, 2023. The movie released in select theaters starting on June 23.

The movie released on June 30, 2023 on Netflix for streaming! You can also view the movie for free, legally, on YouTube, until February 26th, 2024. Netflix also released a free-to-read digital-only multimedia 358-page artbook for the movie.

For simplified background, Disney cancelled the movie in 2021, but on April 11, 2022, it was announced that Annapurna would produce the movie, DNEG would animate it, and Netflix would distribute it for streaming sometime in 2023. I'm seeing a lot of confusion out there, so I'll make a summary of what else we know. I also keep the Nimona movie fanwiki page up to date with more info as it releases. Other good places to get news: ND Stevenson's twitter, his Tumblr, his personal site, the savenimona twitter, and the movie page on Netflix. While managing the fanwiki I found that Wikipedia's reference articles for the movie were kind of terrible and often quoted things not being said in the articles being quoted, even in their archive versions, so I would stick with first-hand accounts where possible, particularly what's coming from folks working on the movie and the companies making it. Below is a more detailed summary of info.

Nimona by ND Stevenson began life as a school project while Nate was in college. He was a tumblrite and posted the first pages on Tumblr on December 14, 2011. On June 19, 2012, he began publishing the webcomic in full on its own site. Sometime before November 2012, it was contracted for publication as a graphic novel after completion. The webcomic ended on September 30, 2014, and was released as a single graphic novel in entirety on May 12, 2015. It has currently been translated into 16 languages. Nate adapted it into a full cast audiobook that released on October 4, 2016 (you can hear a preview and purchase it via the link above). The graphic novel and audiobook are still available for purchase.

Apologies for maybe getting studio names wrong, some have changed over time. Anyway: the movie rights for Nimona were acquired by 20th Century Fox Animation in June 2015, to be produced by Blue Sky Studios. In June 2017, Fox scheduled the movie to be released on February 14, 2020. Patrick Osbourne was brought on as director, and it was planned to have the movie in the style of Paperman (Osbourne was animation supervisor of Paperman (2012), and went on to direct Feast (2015), which used the same style). After Disney acquired 20th Century Animation (as it was later called), the movie was delayed to March 5, 2021. There was reportedly pushback for queer stuff in the movie. Blue Sky is publicly stated to have shutdown due to the pandemic and money issues, which isn't relevant here, and I would be careful spreading rumors it was for other reasons. A lot of "successful" US companies shut down studios and departments en masse for other very dumb reasons, particularly in recent years, sometimes just because they aren't making as much money as their parent/shareholders wants them to and cutting salaries makes your profits look better to shareholders. The important part is: Blue Sky was being shut down, and Disney officially cancelled the movie in February 2021.

At some point around the cancellation, a video compilation of early release footage and sculpts seemingly from someone involved in the movie's production was released online. It was later taken down, but put back up by iO9 after the Annapurna, DNEG, Netflix production was announced.

After Disney shuttered Blue Sky, according to Variety, the Nimona crew, "led by former Blue Sky co-presidents Andrew Millstein and Robert Baird, shopped the animatic around town. The film caught the attention of Annapurna CEO Megan Ellison, who was familiar with the film and had been tracking the project. “I think anyone who has ever felt misunderstood or like an outsider will connect with N.D. Stevenson’s story like I did,” she said in press material for the film. “When I watched the storyboard reels I immediately fell in love with it. Nothing about it felt conventional or built off market research. It’s bold and mischievous and full of love. Nimona has such a powerful voice.”

Annapurna stepped in and signed up Millstein and Baird as executive producers. They created Shapeshifter Films so the team could finish “Nimona,” and subsequently joined the company, forming Annapurna Animation.

DNEG Animation was hired in the spring of 2021 to help with the animation, becoming collaborators on the film."

On April 11, 2022, it was announced that the film would be produced by Annapurna, animated by DNEG, and distributed by Netflix. Netflix also shared the first summary:

"A Knight is framed for a crime he didn't commit and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona, a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he's sworn to kill. Set in a techno-medieval world unlike anything animation has tackled before, this is a story about the labels we assign to people and the shapeshifter who refuses to be defined by anyone."

Between Netflix's posts and DNEG's Nimona page, as well as folks involved with the film talking about it, and new info released after the Annecy Film Festival announcement, we knew it would release in Summer 2023. Netflix released a primary cast article with images of what the characters look like from Netflix (be warned, both are very spoilery).

What is also interesting about the cast listings is that Ballister's last name was changed from Blackheart to Boldheart.

Sources for Business Insider said that Blue Sky's work would be incorporated into the film somehow. The second production seemingly wasn't started from scratch, and members of the Blue Sky production stayed on to work on the project. This makes sense, given the art was quite similar to what was in that footage released around the film's cancellation in 2021. DNEG crew have stated repeatedly, though, that although they did have a lot of material from the Blue Sky production, they had to make a lot of things from the ground up.

Netflix released another still on May 17, 2023. On May 18, they released their teaser, the movie's first poster, and the announcement of the June 30, 2023 general streaming release date!

Netflix also added a new preview image to the Nimona page on the app, featuring Ballister and Ambrosius facing off behind Nimona.

And Netflix started selling Nimona plushies! Amazon (and possibly other vendors) are also selling shirts/jackets with official movie art!

Netflix released more footage of the movie on May 24, 2023! (it's around 6:31 in the video).

Empire magazine released another still for the movie on June 7, 2023, as well as an article in their June 8, 2023 issue.

Variety released a new still on June 11, 2023.

Netflix released a new poster on Jun 13, 2023!

Not my questions, but I loved your well-thought out answers (and generally love your blog; we have so many overlapping interests).

I can't help but wonder if Paul and Andrew would be flirting so much or even on this press tour together if something had happened. So I think either nothing happened between them (I am going to ignore almost everything Paul has said), or something is continuing to happen and we're watching it play out in real time.

Personal favourite insane press tour moment is the 'I could get you into dauphinoise potatoes' moment. Two Irish men flirting over potatoes feels too on the nose, but good for them.

listen, i fully acknowledge that all friendships are different. however, looking back at all of the different friendships i’ve had in my life not one comes even close to whatever these two have got going on lol. the fucking innuendos, my dudes. like???? ‘it was hot in many ways’ ‘ayyyeee’ & that weird slapping thing andrew did & paul was like ‘what were we doing?’ & ‘unsettled in a good way’ & that’s just to name a few. but as i said, just because i haven’t had friendships were we compliment each other’s arms doesn’t mean that friends can’t do that. & maybe that says more about me & my friends lol.

yeah, i’m still impressed how they managed to turn a discussion about potatoes into something sexual, however, that whole shower exchange in the same interview was way more side-eye worthy in my opinion. the way paul was looking for andrew’s validation there — ‘okay, great’ — like why do you care if your friend finds showering together sexy/romantic or not lol. & it’s also the fact that they don’t end up making it awkward, y’know?

in regards to the whole ‘flirting’ part of your question, i have no clue & wouldn’t even know where to begin with that one; anything is possible quite honestly. i will say that yesterday when i was answering all those questions about ‘character bleed’ & whatnot, for some reason i was thinking this whole filming process was recent. i’d completely forgotten that they’d wrapped filming in 2022, unless i’m getting it all mixed up? so, they’ve been friends since 2020, wrapped filming for aous in 2022 & press tour took place in late 2023 & early 2024, so idk. i have a few thoughts, i can’t help it, but i don’t know how carried away i want to get with this whole thing, because i’ve said before, i think it’s fine to discuss these things in the fandom as long as you don’t include them in it in any way, but also i don’t want to speculate too much about someone else’s life lol 😅

OK Horror Fans

I've recently seen two new-to-me horror movies (one of them almost a month ago) and I wanted to share some thoughts.

The first one is Skinamarink.

I went into this one not really knowing what to expect...I wasn't even sure I was going to like it, as ratings/reviews are pretty split.

But I gotta tell you, this is one of the more uncomfortable movies I've seen in a long time. It is probably the closest a movie has ever come to capturing what it feels like to be trapped in a nightmare.

Told from the point of view of two small children, who wake up one night to find their father gone. Not only that, but the doors and windows to the home have vanished, and the phones do not work...leaving them trapped inside this house, alone...or so they think.

This feels very much like an experimental film...there is barely any dialogue, and we never see the faces of the children...nearly everything is shot from their point of view; and when the camera does pull back, it feels so voyeuristic and uncomfortable. The shots are long and static, often looking towards a dark hallway or corner...and you just have to sit there, waiting for something to jump out at you...and then it doesn't.

While this movie will not be for everyone, I would definitely suggest it if anything I said has piqued your interest. It is a very slow film, that maybe could have been 10-15 minutes shorter (this movie has more endings than The Return of the King). But the discomfort I felt was palatable, and there was at least one shot that absolutely freaked me the fuck out that I had to look away.

Also, the sound design is insanely good. There is no soundtrack, so all we have are the ambient sounds in that house and it really gets to you after a while.

And the other night I watched The First Omen.

Damn, this was a good movie.

The First Omen is a prequel to the 1976 film: The Omen, starring Gregory Peck and Lee Remick. And as with most horror prequels and sequels, I was not expecting this to be very good, but I was pleasantly surprised!

The film follows a young, American novice named Maggie (played by the fantastic Nell Tiger Free) who has come to Rome to complete her novitiate before taking her final vows to become a nun. But strange things begin to happen, and she discovers that not everything is as it seems, and there is something nefarious going on behind closed doors within the church.

First of all, this movie looks incredible. This is director Arkasha Stevenson's first feature film, and I cannot wait to see what she does next. Because the cinematography, the lighting, the angles and editing...everything about the way this movie looks is terrific. And the set and costume design (as well as the practical effects) really brought the feeling of the early 1970's...it didn't feel like a 2024 take on the 1971.

And there is so much tension in this movie! The build-up is so well done, with maybe one or two small scares at the beginning, but then this feeling of dread and discomfort starts to build that doesn't really let go until the end. Really well done, and I hope we're going back to this kind of horror for the future, because I really love movies that do this.

Honestly, my only real gripe with the film is the fact that they changed one thing that effects the original film. I can't really say much because of spoilers...if you've seen the trailer, you may be able to guess what it is...but with the change, it makes a plot point in the original into a plot hole. I'm kind of ok with it, since The Omen was never a big favorite of mine...and if they hadn't made this change, then we wouldn't have this movie...at least as a prequel to The Omen. Though if they had taken out the few references to the original (and yes, you do get to hear a bit of Jerry Goldsmith's incredible score), it could have worked as its own standalone movie.

Despite this one change, I would absolutely recommend this movie to horror fans!

Since this seems to be a trend, I have to ask: top 5 pieces of media you'd rec me? I am really curious since I think I've already tried pretty much everything you loved 😅

sorry for the delay, but I was right in the middle of one of the things I thought I miiight recommend you, so I waited until I finished in case it ended up poorly lmao.

Said thing is Zatanna & the Ripper, an already completed webtoon available online for free (don't let the fact that it's 51 issues long deter you, a webtoon episode takes less than five minutes to read lol). I was already reading a couple other DC webtoons, with mixed feelings ("Wayne Family Adventures" is often too fandom-y for my blood but it's given me a few ideas, and "Red Hood: Outlaws" was... neither a bad as its worst moments, nor did it manage to live to the sky high expectations of its very best), and I was already on my Zatanna feels thanks to Young Justice so... I picked this one up.

I'm guessing you know this but Zatanna's comics version differs quite a bit from YJ's; she's from Bruce's generation, for one (he has a cute cameo here with the two of them playing as children lol), her usual love interest is John Constantine (who plays that part here), etc. This isn't quiiiite like the comics version (or what little I've seen of her), she's a bit younger and greener, with a "finding yourself/having faith in your own power" arc.

The premise is that Zatanna, on her 21st birthday, gets transported to London in Victorian times, right around the time Jack the Ripper was killing (I'm pleased to say the run managed to side-step the issues I tend to have with historical fiction that tries to play around with this concept, tbh). She's stuck there, with malfunctioned powers, becomes friends with one of the working girls, starts trying to solve the case etc. etc. It was a fun read, all around.

Hmm... I'm trying to think of favourite stuff of mine that I don't think you've tried... shows-wise, I think that'd be Desperate Wives? Not saying it didn't infuriate the hell out of me at times lol, and I'm not sure how you'll feel about it, since it's also not-my-usual-type... but when it's good, it's GREAT and really damn enjoyable lol. I became hooked really early on so I'd say to give the pilot a try and see if it awakens any interest, if you haven't watched it?

For films... you might've watched some of these, but some of my favourites that you might want to give a try to would be "The Mask of Zorro" (revenge! romance! sword fights as both revenge and romance tools!), "The Handmaiden" (historical lesbian romance with really engaging twists), or 2010's "True Grit" (a western, which isn't usually my thing, about a young girl seeking revenge for her father's murder).

I'll also list some of my favourite classic books that you might or might not have read, Because: "Carmilla", "Dangerous Liaisons", "Frankenstein", "Pygmalion"

I don't know how plausible it'd be to find this available outside of Spain, but I'm recommending "La Promesa", a Spanish telenovela I've gotten into (I'm not really watching it properly because I'm waaaaaaaay behind lol. it's long as fuck, currently in its 150+ episode; I watch the current ones when my mother has it on tv lol, and sometimes some of the old ones). It's sloooooow, which can be frustrating, and LOOOOONG, as I said, but it does some really great things character-wise. I've called it the Spanish Downton Abbey lol, but with faaaar more attention given to the working-class characters (the heroine herself being a maid).

This goes beyond five, but since I'm not sure if you've watched/read some of these, and you probably won't be able to watch the last one ^^U: SEVERANCE!!! Again, I just want people to watch both this AND Dollhouse so we can delve deep into them xDD. Just one short season so far, with a second one coming on 2024. It's about a group of workers who've gone through a surgical procedure that separates their memories from work and those from their life outside, effectively creating different people, and the sketchy corporation they work with. And Dichen Lachman is in it too :D (her part is the only one I actively compared with Dollhouse while I was watching it lol. So far Dollhouse wins but... Priya's story is hard to top).

Another bonus, Because: I recommended the Kemi Ashing-Giwa's short stories stored in Tor to another mutual, so this time I'll give focus to another one: "The Puppermaster", about a banished warrior, her sketchy usurper uncle, and monsters.

The WGA writers are entering the third month of their strike. Strike action by SAG-AFTRA has been delayed as the actors have agreed to extend negotiations until July 12th.

Friday, June 30 was meant to be the cutoff date for negotiations between Hollywood studios and SAG-AFTRA. Had a deal not been struck by then, the actors guild was going to join the WGA’s strike efforts in a more official capacity. But much like what recently happened with the DGA, actors have gotten something of a reprieve just hours before the midnight deadline. Now, conversations between the two parties will continue all the way through July 12. SAG-AFTRA alerted its union members on Friday evening, saying leadership agreed to extend talks “in order to exhaust every opportunity to achieve the righteous contract we all demand and deserve.” The two sides have been in discussions since early June, with actors guildmembers advocating for extensive protections against AI, more residuals from streaming, and protection for its pension and health plans. Both parties are reportedly planning to talk again at some point during Saturday, July 1, and may possibly pick things back up again after the Fourth of July comes to pass. In the meantime, it’s said that projects that are presently filming are good to continue until 11:59 PM on the new expiration date.

Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower) was one of 300 or so actors who signed a letter to the union leadership urging SAG-AFTRA not to cave on any key demands.

The WGA strike hasn't affected Season 2 production of House of the Dragon. All of the writing and re-writing was completed before the writers went on strike. But SAG-AFTRA is a different matter. It's hard to say how much of the S2 filming has been completed, though it's probably less than half.

Even a short SAG-AFTRA strike would be costly; a longer one would probably delay the season premiere in 2024.

A number of things could happen. If negotiations are productive, the deadline could be extended again. If there's a tentative settlement, there would then be a ratification vote by the membership which may take a week or so to arrange, conduct, and tabulate. If a proposed settlement is voted down, that would open the way to a strike.

Frankly, I think the WGA and SAG-AFTRA are in the right. If you want to get some idea of the effect of gratuitous use of AI on TV and film production, check out the AI generated White Walker. But if there's a SAG-AFTRA strike, I hope it doesn't start until late September. 🙂

Ultimately, the studio owners need to quit being so fucking greedy. When you let creators create and and don't try to do things on the cheap, you actually increase the chances of success. That is a lesson from Game of Thrones that the studios have already forgotten.

can he stop lying about taking a break? i feel like he’s crying wolf for attention and easy headlines at this point. dude said he wanted to retire completely and go pop out kids and then suddenly spiderman 4 was in play and he signed on to play fred astaire. now his show is tanking so he’s saying he’s so mentally drained he’s gonna take a break for a YEAR (again) when he just also said he’s filming the astaire movie early in 2024. that’s not how any of this works tom.

I mean interviews are done ahead of time and he haha been talking about taking a break for awhile but because he was already signed on and contractually he has to fulfill his obligations he can finally now take that break and go MIA. A year means we shouldn’t see him and Z out and about because that would bring press that he don’t like that.

Honestly this is good and I hope he gets all the love and rest he needs. Hopefully he’ll come back ready to work with a clear mind….a new team

Ukraine renews requests for F-16 and other Allied fighters

"It's time we give our top Ukrainian guns the tools to finish the job. Ukraine needs F-16 now," said the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

The Ukrainian military renewed their requests to the allies for the donation of advanced jet fighters, with a special focus on the American-made F-16 Fighting Falcon, in a series of social media posts on Saturday, on Ukraine Aviation Day.

"In the last 184 days, Ukrainian Air Force pilots have been fighting a numerically and technologically superior enemy," the text said in a video posted by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which used the song "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins from the film Top Gun. "It's time we give our Ukrainian top guns the tools to finish the job. Ukraine needs F-16s now."

The post stated that fighters were needed not only for the good of Ukraine, but also to defend the "free world".

In another post, Ukraine invoked the words of the American civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to order jets beyond the F-16: The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II, the Eurofighter Typhoon, Dassault Mirage 2000 and Saab JAS 39 Gripen. All are advanced multifunction or air superiority fighters, and the F-22 and F-35 are stealth fighters.

At the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine War, President Volodymyr Zelensky and other Ukrainian authorities made several appeals to Western states calling for warplanes to fight the Russian Air Force. However, Ukraine's armament with Western aircraft was seen as very provocative for the U.S. Critics of the proposals to transfer war planes noted the danger of an allied pilot being shot down while transporting the aircraft to Ukraine - which would attract NATO directly into the conflict.

Zelensky also called for the establishment of a NATO air no-free zone over Ukraine, which was also rejected for fears of attracting the U.S. and other nuclear powers to war.

A proposal from Poland for the U.S. to supplement its air force with new American planes and for Warsaw to send its Soviet-made MiG-29 to neighboring Ukraine was vetoed by the U.S. On Saturday, Slovakia signed an agreement with the Czech Republic and Poland that would cause its NATO companions to defend the country's skies, allowing Slovakian planes to be sent to Ukraine, Reuters reported.

Slovakia said it is ready to send the 11 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, but Slovakia's Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad said no deal has been signed yet. Bratislava is expected to receive a delivery in 2024 of fourteen F-16 fighters by an agreement signed in 2018.

Instead of transferring complete fuselages, the U.S. facilitated the transfer of aircraft parts to reform and return to service with damage and old Ukrainian Soviet aircraft, such as the oldest MiG series fighters. Washington also examined the possibility of training Ukrainian pilots.

While in mid-April the Pentagon's press secretary, John Kirby, said that Ukraine was receiving new warplanes from an unidentified source, he later withdrew that statement. However, the Washington Post reported at the end of July that the chief of staff of the U.S. Air Force, General CQ Brown Jr., had suggested that Western allies were still considering the possibility of transferring Swedish fighters Gripens, Eurofighters, French Rafale or even American jets.

Just over six months of war, Ukraine is coming to an end to its reserves of Soviet ammunition and equipment, and the U.S. has been trying to secure more Soviet weapons and also facilitate the change to standard NATO weapons.

Although Russia has more aircraft and more advanced models than Ukraine, air superiority over the state besieged so far has avoided the air forces of President Vladamir Putin. This is largely due to the constant supply of Western anti-aircraft systems, such as FIM-92 Stinger air-to-earth missiles.

"Russia hoped to destroy our aircraft in the early hours of the large-scale invasion. And, of course, this enemy had a completely insane goal, like many other goals," Zelensky said in a speech on Aviation Day, praising Ukrainian pilots and air force crew. "The Ukrainian Air Force has been preserved and, since the first day of the invasion, has been honorably carrying out combat missions."

BTS all signed the same f'ing contract back in 2018. It's clear that JK, and possibly Tae, wanted to take a small break from doing stuff related to music/BH and BH allowed that to happen//

About contract renewal in 2018:

It was officially declared boys involved parents and solicitors and bh allowed it. Contracts were negotiated in personalised manner. This got clear even bh had strict ot7 or nothing policy RL started with solo work and jk took part in almost all collabs ( so technically jk didn’t take a break), jm in few also suga rm hobi had their own collbs part from bts. Then tae had his own bare min projects but within his circle of trustees. Jin literally nothing until he got the OST and goodbye song. So it’s clear boys had different contracts according to bh agreed with in their requirements, strategic and business plans.

Now l completely agree with you with the current/upcoming contract renewal. I personally think all of them gonna resign (maybe some of them already did sign) there’s no room to think anyone would back off. If so there should be a bigger label to resign but there’s no one above Hybe plus their US hold is stronger than any other SK agency. having said that l also believe boys will negotiate for more personalised contracts than 2018 including terms on their military service, solo projects, business ventures, content filming, relationships and private life ect. They can have one main contract for bts activities and sub contracts for solo projects/other gigs with room to undertake separate contracts for music collaborations and endorsements.

Even for normal idols when they pass mid 25ys their contracts gets more specifics for completely different from early years since agencies have line up of young idols and groups to launch and promote

Look you can choose to believe they boys had separate contracts, I choose not to.

Why? Collective bargining.... It's the "friends cast" effect.

If you make individual deals, you weaken the group, because one or two members are given preferential treatment.

Now yes there is a perception of this with features on other artist music. Whilst JK and RM are the only members to feature on Waste It On Me the credit goes to BTS and therefore the paycheck. Same with any other feature.

OSTs are contract out jobs, and production companies will request artists, and BH will agree to that or not.

Jin's album will clearly come next year when he returns from the Military. He pretty much stated that as the case at the festa dinner.

I think at a bare all the members are going to release 1 album and 1 additional "goodbye" song as part of their contract. RM appears to be the exception because he's stated he's got more music to release.

Post 2024/26 when renewal is up things may be different and they'll all have personalised contracts, I just don't think that'll be the case. I think they'll renegotiate their contract as a group, just like the Friends cast did, it means they can play hardball if they want and get the best deal for all of them, including group and solo work.

Chapter 2 musings

Originally, I wrote a very long post organizing their developments all the way back to 2018 regarding their plans...and when I took a break to check twitter I saw that my mans Jin had gone live and bamboozled some parts of my timeline. I was writing based off some guesstimates, and did get the general stages correct but there's little things I'm going to have to pick out and trash...

So I'm just going to wait for more complete translations, watch the replay and see about that post.

But right now I have a few little wishes I want to put out into the universe and plant the seeds of manifesting.

Regarding their enlistment announcement and some things they mentioned, we know that: Jin said during the festa dinner filming (May 20) that he'll release his solo album last. This was when the Busan concert hadn't been finalized yet, and he thought he was enlisting in June. Due to the short amount of time initially, Jin was probably planning on working on his songs after getting out of the military. Jk chimed in after Jin spoke during the dinner, saying he'll release his album after Suga. Jin also mentioned that they have planned the schedule for solo releases already, likely very tentatively for the last few members. The enlistment announcement by BH stated they're predicting on reconvening by 2025, so based off that the last member should enlist latest at around mid-2024.

Since they wouldn't be waiting until they hit the age limit to enlist, and are planning on reconvening in 3ish years, that means they won't necessarily be going in age order. I think it's quite possible the hyung and maknae lines will be mixed in order, and the timing they choose to enlist would be based off how far they've gotten with their solo works.

Suga has to go by March next year, so he'll be gone soon and I believe he might release his album after finishing his service. From the way he spoke about wanting to sing and dance if he held a solo concert and was taking lessons, seems like his album isn't done yet and he's still in the process. If Jk holds himself to his comment, then he might be enlisting right after Suga. I find this plausible because Suga will likely be back around late 2024, and for Jk to release an album after Suga means super late 2024-early 2025, and if they're reconvening in 2025, he can't possible wait to enlist after a solo debut at that time.

The next member to release an album is likely RM. He's been dropping little hints recently...and I'm feeling a neutral vibe from him.

Jimin also commented saying he thinks V will release his album next year in 2023. I'm looking forward to KTH1, I really, really like Sweet Night.

So in 2023, I'm guessing that Suga and Jk will be enlisting.

If Jin can be back by mid 2024, I think the last members will go once he is back. I believe they will time it so that at least 1 or 2 members are active and fans won't feel lonely. They love the fans so much...

On the topic, Jin was saying he wanted to enlist in summer because he doesn't like the cold, but decided to wait until the Busan concert was over because he wanted to...for the fans. Boy when I tell you I was washing my phone with my tears...I didn't think I would be genuinely this emotional with the Busan concert, The Astronaut and his guest appearance with Coldplay in Argentina. And Chris actually kissing Jin's hair when they hugged...someone is going to get an earful when he's home.

Also putting out good vibes for the future and that we'd all meet again as better people, and nothing bad happens to anyone.

Seriously tho, the army better not hurt my boys. I hope there are male armys in there that'll respect them or protect them from creeps.

Creative Mentoring Refelctions

I initially had a brief stint as a freelance mentor on a project run by Leicester education charity Pedestrian in 2014 after completing a Level 2 training qualification with them as part of a CPD programme. During that time I focussed mainly on working with young people who had a strong interest in photography and developing their own pathways into careers in the creative sector. Fast forward some years to 2024 and I’m currently into my second year of of involvement in The Mighty Creatives ‘Creative Mentoring’ programme which is a service that ”provides one-to-one support, empowering young people who are care-experienced, facing adversity, disadvantage or challenges to discover their sense of self, belonging, and a world of opportunities.”

There are obviously a multitude of benefits that arise from the work that I carry out in this role, not just for the young people that I am paired with but it’s a very rewarding experience for me too. I mainly see confidence rise over the weeks I spend with each mentee. A large amount of the young people I’ve been involved with have lives that present very challenging circumstances and as a result display very low confidence and self esteem, in some cases this leads to an unwillingness to communicate fully in our early sessions, quite tricky when you’re trying to find out a bit more about their interests! Over a few sessions together I’ve found that the barriers come down and slowly the mentees open up a bit more, become more talkative and confident during their sessions. I try to give them space to be able to direct the way the sessions will run and the sorts of creative activities they would like to get involved with and I’ve found that this only comes when the young person is given plenty of time and space to think. Sometimes I’ve barely said anything in a two hour session and just allowed the activity to take over, choosing to simply let the young person make and do, rather than bombarding them with chat. This will usually allow them to lead the session more as I simply start to respond to things they feel comfortable talking about, and to the creative things they are making/doing rather than me coaching them through an activity.

This more autonomous approach, allowing the young person to be the decision maker, presents to me the most exciting aspect of my mentoring work. Obviously I feel most comfortable working with photographic processes (digital, analogue even stop motion animation and film) but relative mentoring pushes me out of that comfort zone and really gets me thinking about the wide variety of activities I can do with my mentees. Sometimes through discussions or simply playing with the materials we have in a session another idea will be sparked and I’ll be forced to think about ways we can bring that idea to life. One such experience was the creation of a shadow puppet theatre with a six year old boy I work with in a primary school setting. For a few of our sessions he’d been building 3D structures using wooden blocks and some sheets of A4 card and had noticed that dependent on how the light was falling on the structures different shadow shapes would fall on the table. We developed this by using torch light to strengthen the shadows and take photographs of the results. Whilst he was shining the light on the card from different angles he noticed and became quite excited by the way he could backlight the card and see shadows coming through. This led to a discussion about whether he’d seen a shadow puppet theatre before which he hadn’t (or at least couldn’t remember) and so I showed him a quick example. This idea developed over a series of weeks culminating in the both of us making characters and a basic theatre design for him to act out stories that he’d created.

Another instance saw me responding to a young person’s interest in photographing objects reflected in surfaces, so glass or mirrors in this case. This led me to recall a simple way of creating a kaleidoscope that I’d seen another practitioner use in an SEND based workshop. I thought that this would be a perfect activity, so the young person could not only construct but also use the kaleidoscope to take photographs through.

His excitement in this session was infectious and really brought home to me how much we both benefit from the mentoring relationship that we have. I get to develop and push my practice in areas I’d never really considered before and for my mentees I hope they have space to play, experiment and think, away from the more difficult experiences in their lives. It’s been an absolute privilege to work with such an interesting group of young people, and to play a small, hopefully positive, part in their life journey’s so far.

📸 K Fuse: BANG YONGGUK took LA Fans on an “Orange Drive” for His ‘III’ US Tour Stop A/N: posted on 240525

The Vermont Hollywood in Los Angeles, California was filled with excitement on Sunday, April 28, 2024, as Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, and producer, BANG YONGGUK, made his last stop of the III U.S. Tour. As a producer, Yongguk has produced for artists like the K-pop group JUST B, who also ended their Just Be With You Tour at the Vermont Hollywood on March 31. As fans bustled into the venue, three screens projected the design of a bright red “3,” which is the name of Yongguk’s most recent album, 3. Many fans wore B.A.P shirts and held green lightsticks as Yongguk is the former leader of that K-pop group.

During talking breaks, Yongguk said that he didn’t forget about the support and love he received from fans last year on his tour (The Colors Of Bang Yongguk) stop in LA, “So I want to make the best night tonight together.” Throughout the night, the Korean rapper would go back and forth from early songs in his discography like his debut single, “I Remember” (feat. Yang Yoseop) which had the crowd overjoyed, soaking in the nostalgic moment and singing loudly as the song started, “Oh, oh, woah // Oh, oh, woah.” Later in the song, fans chanted the chorus hearing the voices bouncing off of the venue’s walls.

The stage and venue were dimly lit but the colors shining on stage were so bright and saturated, resembling to when Yongguk described how he felt on stage in his short film, Something To Talk About. The stagelights shined spotlights from the left and right on Yongguk creating a movie like scene from the crowd. When “Green” (feat. SOOVI) was peformed, fans turned on their flashlights and waved their arms from left to right in the air. During this sentimental song, Yongguk really made sure to show he was singing this song to each one of his fans by sharing eye contact, completing heart hands, and pointing to the crowd during the lyric “Baby, you're my green, yeah.”

Yongguk took a moment of to share encouragement to fans:

“As I said I’m not your teacher but I sincerely encourage you guys to also take on a challenge or do something that you haven’t done yet to move forward in your lives…Yolo.”

Then Yongguk went on to perform more of his new songs from his recent album, 3. With this album, the songs are more free and have a different tempo from previous albums. During the performance of “BAD” (feat. YOUHA), the crowd sang the chorus with Yongguk when the word “bad” was said.

Yongguk looked like he was enjoying the last night of his U.S. tour as he playfully sprayed water into the crowd and on himself, dancing to each upbeat song of his and would let out a big smile as he watched fans sing along to his lyrics.

For the encore portion of the night he performed “BUSS IT DOWN” again and doused the crowd even more with water. Ending the night with “Orange Drive” as a song that in that moment could stand for the sunset that is ending the concert/tour and Yongguk’s promise to continue to make music and see his fans again some day.
