my roman empire is archons and their child whom they 'failed'. characters with doomed, dark fates, seeming as if they'd never been looked upon by their god. the ones you read about and wonder why their archon did not protect them or pay attention. venti and rozalyne, ei and kabukimono - quite literally, rukkhadevta or nahida and zandik. arguably, egeria and focalors, considering focalors bore the brunt of egeria's sin.

Cloud Retainer has taken on many disciples in her time, and she has loved each and every one as if they were her own.
It was, therefore, quite unlikely that she woukd cease to take on disciples anytime within the forseeable future. Her love was extensive, far beyond what most mortals would be able to comprehend, and her capacity for intimate and tight bonds was even moreso. She has taken on many disciples over the years, and she has loved them all like her own children.
Perhaps it could be attributed to her adeptal instincts; she can recall many a time during which her fellow adepti, upon bonding closely with another being, became exceedingly protective of them. It was only natural—adepti lived for so long and were often affected by their more nonhuman instincts. It wouldn't be improbable to imagine that the need to bond with other beings would grow strong over so many years.
...Then again, it could always simply be attributed to her. In her mind, there was little need for any such justification like 'instincts.' She could scoff at the idea—she was no mere animal. 'Instincts' could not begin to fully explain the depth of her love and care; it was surely infinitely more complicated than the mere maternal urges that a simple crane, a wild animal, might have. She was infinitely more intricate and convoluted than an uncomplicated bird.
(That, however, did not change the fact that she did tend to have bird-like habits. Preening, nesting in her own way... She preferred not to bring attention to that fact, however.)
Regardless of the reason, the truth was that she was lonely, even if she vehemently denied it whenever someone brought up the idea. Mt. Aocang was... quiet, dreadfully so without the constant presence of Ganyu or Shenhe or any of her other disciples. She enjoyed the silence to an extent, but she could only entertain herself for so long without another being to share her knowledge with. Liyue Harbor was far more lively. Loud and chaotic at times, perhaps, but far less lonely than the empty nest that her adeptal abode had become.
Maybe that was why she was so immediately invested in the little one who had accidentially bumped into her and was now apologizing profusely.
       "I'm— I'm so sorry, miss! I wasn't watching where I was going! I really didn't mean it, I..."
'What a swift little thing,' she couldn't help but muse. She'd hardly even spotted them rushing her way before they tumbled into her legs. Their body weight wasn't even enough to make her stumble—if anything, they were the one that ended up getting thrown off balance. It was cute how small they were compared to her, really; it reminded her of Shenhe when she was a child, or even her current disciple, Shuyu.
Ah... but she shouldn't be so quick to think fondly of them. No, surely this little one had parents of their own—a life of their own—to return to. She did not even know their name. No. Bonds should not be so quick to form.
With elegant, poised grace akin to a gentle breeze rustling a tree's leaves, she knelt down, the motion putting an end to their sheepish yet hurried apologies. Glossy, innocent eyes stared up at her—even kneeling, Xianyun was still a bit taller than they were—with an amount of awe that would've made her feathers puff out in pride had she been in her illuminated beast form. She was not one to grow embarrassed at admiration, after all.
       "Where are your caregivers, child?"
"Oh. Um." Their brows furrowed slightly. "...I don't know, actually."
"Ah, are you lost? Come, then. One— Ahem. I shall reuinte you with them. I am certain they must be quite frantic in your absence."
Before she could rise and offer her clawed hand to them, they urgently shook their head.
"Oh, no! It's not like that, miss. Even if it was, I wouldn't want to trouble you at all! I would find my way back!" they insisted politely, waving their hands in front of their body as if to dismiss her concerns (though, Xianyun hardly thought it would be "troubling"; she was a bit surprised that they felt it so, or perhaps they were really just trying to be polite). It was then that she noticed the little wooden chick held carefully in one of their hands, but she did not yet have the opportunity to inquire about it. "I've been on my own for as long as I can remember, that's all."
       Oh?
       Oh.
       "Hm. Is that so?"
       "Uh-huh."
       "In that case, child, I—"
A man rounding the corner and immediately prevented her from finishing her sentence. He was very clearly furious, approaching the child with such fervent determination that Xianyun could not help but wonder what nature of a troublemaker she must have encountered. Though... she really did not see them that way, which only made her infintely more curious about rhe situation at hand.
       Their expression seemed to fall.
"You, kid!" he shouted, stopping just a foot or two away from them. "You can't just go around stealing whatever you please! Who raised you?!"
"No, I..." They could not meet his gaze. "I was gonna bring back more mora to make up for it when I could, I just—!"
"Don't give me excuses. I want the toy you've stolen returned, you understand? Hand it over!"
       Xianyun sighed, adjusting her glasses.
"Enough," she said, rising to her feet. "How much mora will suffice? For reparations, of course."
"Rep— reparations?" the man stuttered, then sighed. "No, no... look. You're the mom? Just teach your kid not to go around stealing. The toy's not worth much, but a kid who starts stealing this young will take far more important things in the future. So, teach 'em not to do it."
Hiding behind Xianyun's legs, they couldn't help but stare upwards in wonderment. His attitude flipped completely when faced with a woman so much taller than he was, and with an air surrounding her that demanded such an impossible amount of respect. They honestly could not blame him for such an attitude change; they would too, they thought, if they were faced with someone like her.
"Very well. You have my apologies on their behalf." She turned on her heel, holding out her hand to them. "Let us go, little colt."
       Colt?
Bewildered but nonetheless beyond awestruck with this strange yet kind woman, they nodded, wordlessly placing their freehand in hers. Her sharp, hooked nails dug slightly into their skin; somehow, though, they couldn't be bothered to care. It didn't hurt much. On the contrary, it was oddly comforting.
The walk was silent for a few moments, but then, Xianyun's voice demanded their attention:
"You should pay quite the mind to your behavior in the future. Theivery is a significant offense in a land such as this—a land that regards contracts with the highest of respect. Had I withheld my intervention, it may very well have ended far worse."
"I really didn't mean to," they whispered, little tears building up in the corners of their eyes. Even though she was someone they had only just met a few moments ago, disappointing her seemed... unbearable. Angering her would have been more tolerable. "Um... steal, that is. I didn't mean it. I just thought it looked really cool. I left whatever mora I had on me to pay for it, and I was going to try and get more so I could pay him the right amount... I swear I wasn't going to just run away with it..."
She hummed. "Regardless of your intent, I will see to it that you do not do such a thing again."
       "Hu— huh? You will?"
She scoffed. "Of course. Surely you did not expect me to abandon you on the side of the street again? As an elder, it is only right that I watch over little ones such as yourself, and little ones should not be cruelly left to fend for themselves."
The tears on their lashes had dried by now. They even offered her a smile, giggling as they said, "Elder? I don't think you're old."
"Oh? And what, pray tell, has led you to such a bold conclusion, hm?"
"Well... you! You look very young, miss! I think elder women are very pretty too, but you look... young pretty? Um... what's the word again..?"
       "Youthful, perhaps?"
       "Yeah! Youthful!"
As they rambled on animatedly, clutching the wooden bird to their chest, Xianyun's lips quirked upwards into an amused smile.
It, of course, went unnoticed by them.
                       — flower of the universe !! 🌸
In the few days that had passed since Xianyun welcomed little [Name]—they had bashfully introduced themselves to her in the middle of their rambling once they recalled that she didn't even know their name, and she returned the sentiment with greater confidence—into her home, she had put together a few simple toys for them to amuse themselves with.
She was an inventor at heart. Even though these designs were not entirely her own, she made them hers with unique additions and more efficient features... of course, all while doing her best to keep the toys simple. They were for a child, after all. Mechanics, Xianyun's mechanics, were complicated enough for adults to understand as it was—a child would surely have even less of a capacity to grasp something too complicated, and her efforts would therefore have been wasted.
...But oh, how terribly wrong she now understood herself to be.
Quietly and motionlessly, as to avoid drawing their attention, she watched with the growing warmth of fondness and excitement in her chest as the young one she took in meticulously pried open the toys she handcrafted.
They were humming to themselves, gingerly laying out the parts in an organized manner so that nothing got lost or mixed. She was beyond impressed with the careful thought they had blatantly put into keeping track of everything; Xianyun was certain that most children would lose a small part or two, but as she surveyed their layout, she noted that every single piece—big or small, hard to overlook or easy to lose—was accounted for.
Childish forgetfulness wasn't an inherently bad thing. In fact, it was quite amusing and endearing to those such as herself who had lived for so many millennia.
However, she was infinitely more endeared by their sheer mindfulness.
Their sharp gasp snapped her from her internal musings.
"Oh— Miss... Miss Xianyun! I'm sorry, I—" They stumbled over their words, and they froze up somewhat. It was as if they wanted to hide what they had done but ultimately decided against it; she had clearly already spotted them, and they did not want to risk mixing up all the parts. "Miss Xianyun, I'm so sorry, I— I wasn't trying to destroy them, I just—"
"—wanted to understand their internal workings, yes?"
Their eyes went wide with that same wonderment they had displayed towards her a few days prior. "How... how did you know?"
She almost laughed at their cluelessness. "You have taken them apart with the care and delicacy quite unusual for one of your age. This, one surmises, is only because you sought to sate your curiosity regarding these simple mechanisms and their internal functions."
The grace with which she carried herself never failed to leave them in astonished silence. Xianyun hummed, sweeping them up into her arms as if they weighed no more than a feather (her utter, raw strength was another astounding feat in their young mind; she was so unimaginably admirable in a multiplicity of ways to them). Then, with steady caution, she kneeled to the floor and situated them comfortably in her lap.
"Allow one to introduce you, little colt, to the basics of mechanics."
Xianyun, they concluded, was an odd but genuinely kind woman.
Though her manner of speech was sometimes strange and formal, and her grace seemed otherworldly in its nature, and her strength was assuredly not a feat that just anyone could achieve...
She was tender. She was kind. She cared.
Perhaps the world was not always so kind, but despite that knowledge, they had never felt safer than where they were now.

ZHONGLI didn't think it'd come down to this when he had eternally devoted himself to a partner - one that was mortal, nonetheless. he expected the sand timer of life, the ticking seconds and moments passed that he'd never get back with them; not this, no. not this. you were persistent and zhongli unfortunately had little ability to tell you the word no, especially when you flutter pretty eyelashes up at him and pout that lower lip.
that's how you ended up in this situation. had he been a little more stern, he could have prevented this. the geo archon had done many things in his lifetime that he harboured regrets for but this one possibly took the crown for it. how could he have been so reckless knowing the limited time he had with you at his side? zhongli scolds himself for not being more strict, if only to protect you for another day.
you'd bonded well to the adepti under zhongli's - former - command, knowing that your parter was the very well worshipped archon of liyue. in fact, you bonded so well to them that you were inseparable from the likes of xiao and shenhe when it came down to them working. you were determined for the thrill and zhongli wishes that maybe, time would have mulled down the adrenaline rush you got from it.
xiao's expression explained to zhongli more than words did regarding the severity of the situation, after all you were zhongli's partner - rex lapis, morax, the god of contracts, the lord of rock, the one who very well saved xiao in the darkest crevices of time and set him on a better path. amber eyes that shrink when they land on the taller male, gloved hands shaking as he tries to get his words out. they come out finally in a sharp gasp; you'd been fatally injured.
every soul in liyue trusted baizhu with their lives, maybe not hu tao but zhongli recognised the director had a different flavour of life she preferred. yet he could feel the anxiety growing in his chest, gnawing at his ribs like a rabid animal and it only worsened as xiao explained the damage you took to your head from the fall, trying to escape a lawachurl that xiao hadn't got to in time. ah, so his last surviving yaksha was also rotting to a guilt that wouldn't wither away?
zhongli has spent decades learning how to read emotions, facial expressions and gestures that the mortal realm commit to when words simply don't work. everything has been etched into his mind to the point where he could read everyone like an open book, something that sometimes works in his favour. there's a sorry look on baizhu's face, a grimace whenever he looks at zhongli right up to the moment where he utters that you've got amnesia.
time stops and there's nothing that could make the hands of the clock keep ticking at this revelation. he was prepared for the sand timer, the ticking seconds and moments passed he'd never get back with you. he was expecting the days to be counted, the wrinkles that would grace your face and tell tales of your youth. but if you forgot him, he had no more of that, did he?
for better or for worse, the famed geo archon made the decision not to see you for himself. not cradled up in a bed at the bubu pharmacy, battered and bruised and confused by your surroundings, the people around you. he wanted you to shine in his memories, like gold and for that, he wanted to remember how he last saw you before you'd left that day.
a bright grin on your face, eyes twinkling with excitement as he leaned to press a kiss to your lips, softly muttering his precautions and worries as his warm breath fans over your face. you brushed him off, returning the kiss before turning to leave your shared house and now he wishes he'd done anything, if only he'd grabbed your wrist and pulled you back into his firm chest. now, he must return home and see you everywhere but never you, yourself, your body and soul.

partners in crime, that's what people would usually say to describe your relationship with NEUVILLETTE. after all, the iudex of fontaine entangled in a relationship so cherished and sweet with a member of the marechaussee phantom under his own command? the laws and legalities of fontaine sure had its own way of bringing people together.
you were a reputable member of the special detective force, determined and a valuable asset to their taskforce. neuvillette valued you both as a member of the marechaussee phantom and his very own partner, the one that toughened up his workaholic shell and slithered into his heart. he was in love, completely and utterly in love. it didn't take a genius to see that the iudex was just as devoted to you as he was his work, in fact he'd started to make space in his day just for you.
your job was much more dangerous than neuvillette's and he recognised that every time he would press a kiss to your head every morning before you parted ways at the aquabus station. he would be tucked safely away in the palais mermonia whereas you had criminals to deal with, scoundrels who dared defy the laws your very partner put in place.
neuvillette also recognised that you were a mortal. he'd kept his own personal life secret from you so in your naivety, you also thought he was a mortal - just an astounding and extraordinary one that you would never fail to smother in love. he wishes he'd told you, uttered his secrets and pressed his lips to your soft skin one more time when he realised the consequences of your job.
it was a day like no other, you were tasked with apprehending another dangerous criminal bold enough to resist arrest and by the archons, of course you was determined to chase them down. even if it meant a brawl breaking out in the midst of fontaine's serene countryside, the only sounds being the quiet chirp of distant birds and heavy pants of your struggles.
you succeeded in bringing him down just as reinforcements arrived to help detain the criminal and yet, the criminal could not let you have the last laugh, tripping you as you stood to walk away. your head met a rock, concussing you.
neuvillette waits for you every day at the aquabus station, ready to journey home with you after a tiring day sat filing through documents and being present for meetings. every evening, he considered what state you'd come home in this time - or if you'd even come home but he recognises that the marechaussee phantom would let him know if that fate ever disturbed the flow of your relationship.
with the fontainian sunset painting the most gorgeous backdrop - nothing that could compare to your beauty in neuvillette's eyes, - you finally approached in one piece and yet not an inch of a warm smile on your face as your eyes meet him. silently, you turn to wait for the aquabus. had he said something wrong? was you mad at him? neuvillette frowns, uttering your name quietly into the tense air but it comes out as a question.
"i'm sorry..." you mumble, furrowing your brows as you look up at the taller male. you couldn't deny he was handsome and you wondered if his partner knew that, "do i know you?"
that's when neuvillette notices chevreuse approaching but her footsteps stop the moment she notices that the man had already engaged in conversation with you. a defeated look accompanies the sorry smile that she gives neuvillette from behind you and he realises exactly what happened. his lips part but his mouth is dry, not even the richest waters of teyvat could quench the parch of his mouth at this moment as his heart breaks in his chest.
you'd lost your memory at work? the work that you did under his command? neuvillette grimaces when he realises you were still awaiting his response, his saddened eyes softening as they lower to you once again.
"my apologies, i mistook you for someone else." he sighs, turning forward to face the oncoming aquabus' arrival. yes, he mistook you for his dearly beloved, the one who held the key to his heart. he takes his step onto the aquabus, following behind you as he remembers that last kiss you shared at the station earlier that day. oh, if only he hadn't taken those kisses for granted.

There’s burning rubble everywhere in the remnants of the harbor. The Millelith are running back and forth, searching for anyone trapped, yelling orders. Injured civilians are being taken towards Dunyun Ruins where Kequing and Baizhu are overseeing the emergency camp. Ninnguang is taking damage reports from Xiao who’d been teleporting around since the attack, and Ganyu… Ganyu was nowhere to be found.
When the spike hit the water bordering the harbor, the city would have been washed out if not for her and Shenhe. The wave that followed the impact was twice as powerful as anything Osail could have caused, even adeptil power couldn’t disperse it… not that it mattered. As the evacuation began, the evening sky began to light up as fire began to rain down. Holes were slowly punctured in the ice creating an icy rain followed by new flames. Then, just as the last evacuation group made it to the edge of the city, the second nail dropped.
This one hit the main land, splitting the ground and causing it to quake. A landslide buried most of Yujing Terrace, and a split through the ground took out some of the building supports. The sudden weight shift and structural weakness stood no chance to the rubbing, and buildings began to collapse.
Millelith were caught beneath falling buildings and hit by rubble along with a few lingering civilians, and before anyone could make another move, the fire rain picked up.
That was almost an hour ago, and Ganyu was still completely unaccounted for.
“I last saw her at Yujing Terrace,” Shenhe said, “but that was just following the first nail, after that I went to gather the other Adepti.”
“Thank you,” Y/n had gasped, struggling to catch her breath.
“Perhaps you should-”
“I-I’m fi-ine, Shenhe…” Y/n took another deep breath, coughing a bit. “I have to find her.”
“At least allow me to join you, you must be tired.”
“Tha-ack!”
Shenhe didn’t wait for a response, sweeping Y/n off her feet and leaping forward. They quickly arrived at the ascending stairs and climbed their way over and around the dwindling rubble until they were in the heart of it.
“Ganyu!” Y/n yelled, hands cupped around her mouth as she scanned the gray and brown for any hints of pale blue.
Wordlessly, Shenhe climbed over rocks using her polearm as support as she zeroed into a random spot near the banister.
“Over here!”
Y/n struggled to follow her path, but she arrived to find Shenhe already tossing stuff around.
There, half buried and half covered in ice, was Ganyu. Her bow lay shattered and half visible, with one section sticking out of her side. The tail of her outfit and sleeves were stained red, and her hair was matted with dirt and more blood.
Shenhe and Y/n carefully removed her just as Cloud Retainer arrived. There was a brief debate over how they should move her before Xiao was called and she was quickly taken down to the camp.
“One suggests you join her,” Cloud Retainer said, shaking out her feathers as if she were airing out the tense atmosphere. She took a moment to look over the remains of the city before speaking again. “One has heard of your recent travels. One does not think it wise to join the search efforts in your current state.”
“I know,” Y/n sighed, bracing her elbows on her knees and taking a deep breath before coughing on the dusty and smoky air. “I need to speak with Morax.”
“One knows not where he is, only that he is not here.”
“Funny, I could say the same about Barbatos…”
There was a brief silence before Cloud Retainer inclined her head towards Y/n.
“It would seem it has begun.”
“So it would…”
Shenhe watched the exchange silently before clearing her throat, causing both women to look back at her.
“We should get going,” Shenhe said.
“One would agree. Rest well, little spirit, one has no doubt your strength will be required.”
More dust was kicked up as the crane took off, while Shenhe jumped down after her and Y/n carefully descended from the terrace towards the ruins.
---
It was a day later when Ganyu woke up, groaning in pain and wincing from the damped sunlight filtering through the flimsy tent cloth. Qiqi wasted no time bringing Baizhu over before going to find Y/N.
Thwup
“Ms. Y/n,” Baizhu sighed, “please be careful with the tent, and try not to disturb the other patients.”
“Sorry,” she mumbled as she dropped to her knees by Ganyu’s side.
She grabbed her hands and quickly pressed them against her lips as her eyes grew misty.
Ganyu’s face turned pink as she let out a choked sound. Baizhu finished redressing her head wound with a gentle reminder to be careful before excusing himself to another patient.
“You’re okay,” Ganyu whispered, freeing one of her hands to caress the back of Y/n’s head. “You’re okay… I’m glad,” she sniffled.
“I’m okay? Ganyu, what happened to you? Shenhe said you two stopped the water, then she went to gather the other adepti. Why were you still on the Terrace?”
“I don’t know… I just- I don’t know. Something felt wrong, and I-I thought I might be able to see better from hi-higher up.” Her words were punctuated by short gasps that quickly devolved into strangled sobs.
“Hey- hey,” Y/n took a seat by Ganyu’s legs and began to rub her back as she dropped her head into Y/n’s shoulder, “you’re good. Everything’s good…”
“How many people died?”
“There’s about a hundred missing millelith still… but only twelve missing civillains. You did so well, you saved so many people,” Y/n reassured her again.
As Ganyu’s sobs finally subsided, Y/n spoke again.
“Hey, guess what?”
“Hm?”
“I love you.”
Y/n chuckled as Ganyu’s ears turned red and she pressed her chin into her shoulder as if trying to hide.
“I love you too.”
No matter what happened next in this war with Celestia, Y/n was sure of one thing. Come what may, she would love Ganyu, through rain of fire or shields of ice.

Rumour Has It
Zhonglumi 'secret relationship'
Xiangling
It’s just typical Liyue gossip. Xiangling hears it all when she’s working in the kitchen, and the flavour of the week changes just as quickly as the menu.
Okay, so she might hope that she’s wrong, especially when she spies the two of them sitting together and enjoying her food. How could she not, when she sees Lumine’s face light up with laughter and the soft smile that the consultant answers her with? There’s a warmth between them that’s undeniable, a friendship built from bonding over the deepest of struggles.
Xiangling is positive that they’re just friends, but that doesn’t mean she can’t hope, right?
Hu Tao
O-ho, Hu Tao just knows that they’re fucking.
Sure, she’s never caught them in the act or anything - Zhongli seemed to be way too stuffy for anything that risqué, but it’s not like she hasn’t seen the signs.
Her consultant’s unusual hours, his spontaneous requests to take leave that sometimes devolved into outright absenteeism. And so what if that’s what he was ‘usually’ like, Hu Tao knows this is different.
Watching the way Zhongli undressed Lumine with his eyes from across the banquet table just confirmed it.
And they probably thought they were being sneaky, ha!
Shenhe
Shenhe was starting to realise how much people talk. Their chatter was never ending, pointless drivel that was loud and suffocating to her senses. She’d gotten used to the whispers and the sidelong glances she received from the residents of Liyue, curiosity getting the better of them as they wondered just who, or what, she was.
But the new rumour had taken everyone by storm. The consultant and the traveller were lovers, they said.
Huh.
Right or wrong, Shenhe would happily teach that consultant a lesson or two if he ever hurt her friend, Cloud Retainer’s warnings be damned.
Xingqiu
It’s like something straight out of a book. Star crossed lovers, destined to meet just before a tumultuous calamity tore them apart. A man blessed with the ability to wield the earth’s powers and a woman who descended from the stars above.
Could there be anything more romantic?
Ah, but he was getting ahead of himself again.
Chongyun would berate him for jumping to conclusions, but Xingqiu knew what he saw.
It could only be love that brought Lumine back to the harbour time and again, and it could only be love that saw Zhongli present her with a flower every time she did.
He was sure of it.
Yun Jin
Yun Jin wasn’t certain, but when she was up on stage and she caught a glimpse of them in the crowd, she let her mind wander for a second and thought, maybe.
Of course, that’s about as far as she got before she focused back on her character. It would be utterly unprofessional to appear absentminded while performing.
Still…
When the show was over, she found herself peaking through the curtains to spy on them as they left. Zhongli’s hand rested lightly on the small of Lumine’s back, his thumb lightly stroking the material of her dress.
And Yun Jin had to bite her lip to stop herself from squealing out loud.
Chongyun It’s not any of his business! It really, really isn’t! And it’s not anyone else's business either!
Besides, it's not like he saw anything, okay?
He definitely didn’t come across Master Zhongli and Lumine together when he had been tailing a demon along the foothills of Jueyun Karst. Nope, not at all.
And he definitely never saw the consultant pressing the traveller up against the trunk of a lone tree.
Nor did he see Lumine’s legs wrapped around Zhongli’s waist.
And he absolutely did. not. hear. anything.
Chongyun felt himself heating up, and frantically prayed he had enough popsicles to cool himself down.
Xiao
Xiao knew that Rex Lap- er, Zhongli was taking every step to adapt to a mortal’s way of life. The prime of the adepti seemed totally at ease with the position he now held within the world, even if it grated Xiao to no end.
But a mortal life meant new experiences. Employment, friendship… even love.
He doesn’t quite understand Zhongli’s reasons, but as he watched them walk towards the inn, the old Archon’s hand resting upon her hip, he could empathise with the desire for human connection.
But either way, he had no desire to confront an overprotective, broody adeptus to ask for answers.
Spring was nearly upon them, and it was hard to deny the scent of their desirous pheromones even from this distance.

Hihi, I wanred to ask if I could request some regressor Zhongli hcs with the adepti being his cgs and sibbies? :> its okay of not, have a great day <3
Tumblr media
Little!Zhongli Headcanons!
Requested by baby-zakarii <3 ❌Please remember that these are my headcanons, if you do not like them please ignore them.
Hc count: 6
🍼 - Zhongli is a flip!
Okay so, I personally do not really see Zhongli as just a little, but as a flip with a caregiver lean! He does regress when he feels like he can be around the rest of the adepti, like Xianyun and Xiao, and also the traveler for example. And when he does regress, he regresses to around 4-6 years old, a little bit of an older kiddo but still a kiddo!
🪽 - Zhongli is quite clingy as a little, loving to hold onto his caregiver or sibling's hands, holding into their arms, etc.
He loves to cuddle his caregivers and siblings!! Zhongli will always tug on their arm sleeve to ask for cuddles. He gets especially clingy when it's around naptime/bedtime. He wants cuddles and a story for bed :3
🍼 - Xianyun and the traveler are Zhongli’s caregivers, while Xiao, Ganyu, and Yanfei are his siblings!
I think having Xianyun as his caregiver is pretty reasonable since she has taken care of both Shenhe and Ganyu, she just gives off the mom vibe you know? And the traveler, since Zhongli seemed to get rather attached real fast to the traveler, they are happy to be his caregiver when they are in Liyue.
For his siblings, Xiao is the big brother of the adepti, even though he was one of the youngest by the yakshas, he is much older and wiser than Zhongli when he is regressed. Ganyu is the older sister who is always there if he gets hurt, she helps him out with tasks that seem difficult (even though she has a lot of work herself) and just loves her little brother. Yanfei is the storyteller of the three siblings, she loves telling Zhongli about stories of Liyue.
🪽 - Zhongli is rather polite, even as a kiddo! He is rather quiet and rarely is up to mischief.
He is very polite when he speaks to his caregivers and siblings, he refers to his caregivers by mother or father depending on who is taking care of him. For his siblings, he just refers to them as brother or sister.
Zhongli asks always before he can do a specific plaything like going out, playing with plushies, etc. He just wants to check if it is alright first, and sometimes, if he can't do a specific activity he may have a tantrum.
🍼 - His favorite game to play is either hide and seek or chess!
The little guy loves to go around and hide from his caregivers when he is feeling mischievous! So he always wants to play a game of hide and seek, to Xianyuns dismay...
🪽 - His comfort item is a stuffed animal that looks like Morax (His dragon form!)
He can't fall asleep without it when he is regressed. Once he lost it when he and the traveler had a picnic just outside Liyue harbor and the poor guy cried so hard when it was nap time and they couldn't find it (they found it later around the docks)
I hope you enjoyed my take on Little!Zhongli !! It was really fun writing this for you Zak!!

HEART OF GOLD, BLOOD OF GOLD
pairings beidou ; keqing ; ningguang ; shenhe ; hu tao x adeptus!nb!reader ( separately )
scenario / summary them with an adeptus / half illuminated beast significant other ( fluff + smut headcanons )
content warning mentions of sexual acts ( face riding, rough sex, strapons, oral, tail sex-ish, ... ), mentions of death ( hu tao is hu tao )
Tumblr media
BEIDOU
being who she is, Beidou wouldn't treat you any differently from anyone else just because of your status as an Adeptus—she is a firm believer that lineage does not dictate who someone is and who they can become, which is something that you admire.
it doesn't mean that she doesn't care about your origins; she is very much respectful, especially since she's aware of just how powerful you are—she merely refuses to let it get in the way of your relationship just because she is a mortal and you aren't.
she was in awe the second she saw you in Liyue Harbor for the first time, but she didn't have time to talk to you because there was work to be done. and the next few times she and her crew stopped in the city, she tried to find you, going as far as asking around about you—she was just so curious about you, about who you were and why she had never seen you before.
Beidou was just so excited! she didn't hesitate to approach and immediately start a conversation, desperate to get to know you. you were taken aback—humans rarely approached you without reason—but it wasn't hard to understand that she had no ill intention and that she was nothing but a curious pirate with a kind heart.
even now that you've been dating for a while, she still refuses to admit that it was love at first sight for her, mostly out of stubbornness because you like to tease her about how she looked and sounded like a puppy the first time she talked to you.
she is obsessed with your horns and always wants to pet them when you cuddle, and she loves to have you on her lap because it gives her access to your horns—you often catch her staring at them when she thinks you aren't looking, it's adorable, really.
you were the one who suggested she grabs your horns for balance when sitting on your face. she found the idea embarrassing at first (tried to deny that she isn't obsessed with your horns) but Archons! she loves the sight of your head between her thick thighs. and well, you love your head between those glorious strong, muscular legs!
Beidou knows she can be rough with you because you are just as strong and physically tough as her (if not more), so she doesn't have to hold back. but no matter how much you can handle, she always makes sure that you're okay with whatever she does.
Tumblr media
KEQING
as an intelligent Adeptus, you are the most qualified person to work as the young Yuheng's secretary, as everyone in Liyue knows that she is strict, and that, like every other member of the Qixing, she is often overworked and a complete workaholic who has been going through secretary after secretary.
your origins make you particularly tough and even a boss as strict as Keqing cannot make you quit. you want to support and help the Qixing guide Liyue and its people, and you are willing to do as much as possible for your nation, even if humans are not your people and you weren't raised in the city, it is still important to you to respect your Archon and his wishes.
from the start, Keqing was reluctant to trust you—she doesn't think Archons and the Adepti can do a better job than humans when it comes to ruling a nation. but it didn't take her too long to realise that she could trust you with work and with helping her finish and accomplish tasks on a daily basis.
but constant long hours of working together can create... interesting tensions between people who put others' needs before their own. sexual tensions, that is. and while you quickly understood what it was, Keqing was... well... she was blind to it all for a while, thinking it was just her being annoyed with you proving her wrong about the Adepti by being the most efficient secretary she has ever had working under her. you never pushed it because you didn't want to risk making her uncomfortable.
when Keqing finally understood her own feelings and attraction for you though? there was no stopping her. she still struggles to keep her hands off of you, even at work when you have a lot to do. and you're more than happy to oblige by kneeling under her desk to take care of her needs and make sure that she can properly focus on her work. it's your job, after all?
she often grabs your rabbit ears whenever you go down on her—she knows that they are sensitive and that it's one of the very few ways she has to still feel like she has some control when you're fucking her.
and when you give her full control? when you let her bend you over and fuck you from behind with a strapon? you can feel her fingers linger near your little fluffy tail. every time you suggest she grabs and squeezes it, she gets embarrassed and stutters, often needs to stop fucking you for a few seconds to collect her thoughts. you know you'll get her there though! she's a good girl.
NINGGUANG
you have known Ningguang for quite a few years now, and you are well aware that you are one of the few people allowed to get to know the real Tianquan for real, not just the persona and act she puts on when she roams the streets of Liyue Harbor or when she is at work. you knew Ningguang first, the Tianquan second.
she trusts you with nearly everything in her life because you have been a huge part of her life and success for pretty much as long as she has known you. you were, after all, the person who helped her find the Sunset Vermillionite and Adepti Sigils that she required to build the first Jade Chamber. several of your fellow Adepti were displeased when they discovered that you were the one to help a mortal touch the sky, but you never cared. you were fascinated by the great ambitions of someone who seemed so fragile.
when you first met her, you knew very little about humans, and she has taught you a lot about her people, and the cities and towns of Liyue, and the stories and history of mortals, while you taught her some of the secrets of the Adepti and the Illuminated Beasts—mostly about dragons, since you are half one and know the most about your own species.
you love to visit Ningguang at the Jade Chamber after hours, after all her secretaries has left to go home, so that you can exchange stories and rumours over a cup of tea or a glass of some expensive alcoholic beverage that Ningguang has bought or been offered. those are peaceful moments of privacy that you both relish. and maybe it is after a glass too many that you both confessed having feelings for each other beyond business and friendship.
even if Ningguang tends to regard the Adepti as above mortals, almost god-like creatures, she has no qualms pushing you down onto your knees or underneath her body. and you never hesitate to do just as she asks—there is no reason to disobey the woman who brings you so much pleasure.
you love to worship the body of this gorgeous human, more than you ever worshiped your Archon. and she loves to desecrate your body, to wrap her fingers around your antlers or grind on your thick, scaly tail. you are no Adeptus or dragon with her, you are a submissive plaything, or whatever she wishes for you to be. you are hers and she is yours, and the marks you leave on each others are more than enough to make it obvious.
TAO
after the many years you have spent in Liyue Habor, living among humans, you are very familiar with the ways of mortals. you've always been curious about them, and living in the city allows you to learn more and more about them every day. but no matter how much you know about them, nothing could have prepared you for the whirlwind that is Hu Tao, 77th Generation Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.
while you're used to curious glances, and wonder on the face of children when they notice your vertical pupils or the cat ears you try to hide under a hood, you were the one fascinated at first sight with this apparently puny human who wrecks havoc in the city with sales speeches on death care.
she first approached you like she would any other potential clients; with hope of doing business and putting Mora in the pockets of the Parlor. you were so happy just listening to the enthusiasm in her voice and seeing the wonder in her eyes. the look on her face when you told her you were a pretty much immortal creature? absolutely priceless! Tao was so surprised, almost startled by the notion, it was adorable, and you loved it.
after that revelation, you expected her to never talk to you again, you thought you would just observe her from a restaurant table, watching as she tried to find new clients for her business, but every time, she stopped to talk to you, to ask if you felt your "immortality wavering" and the likes, making jokes about your potential demise. you always indulged her and told her that you felt ever stronger each day you saw her. the jokes continued until you decided to ask her on a date—and for a moment, you thought she would be the one having a heart attack and in need of business with the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.
now, on a near daily basis, Tao enjoys threatening you with sex so good and mind-blowing that you will pass out and maybe never wake up. she makes good on half her promise every time, but she always tells you that she's glad you're immortal, even if it hurts her business. you know it's her way of expressing her feelings for you when she isn't the most comfortable with words.
and well, let's say that all her talking has made her good with her mouth for more than just sales speeches. her fingers are nimble, and you never fail to tell her. Tao loves being praised, especially by you, her lover against all odds.

@apologems here, some shenhe & baizhu for you [random character pairs asks] thanks for your patience because this is really late and enjoy <3
———
The light fragrance of qingxin emanates from the little brown pills in Shenhe's palm. It will not change how the pills taste, though, so she downs them all at once.
… They're not as bitter as she expected. The taste is like… like regret softened with honey, a tinge of sweetness lingering in her throat. Something indescribable dislodges itself from Shenhe’s chest, escapes in a barely perceptible sigh. When she looks back up, two pairs of eyes—gold, crimson—human, snake—are gazing intently at her.
“Swallowed it without even a sip of water! You must have taken a lot of bitter medicine before.” The snake draped around the doctor’s neck speaks in a sing-song voice, blinking owlishly up at her. Shenhe stares back at it—and although she is not good at reading humans, and snakes even less, she thinks it seems a bit surprised that she hasn’t yet looked away. When it lowers its head a moment later, suddenly timid, Shenhe feels an inexplicable bubble of satisfaction pressing against the bindings of her red ropes.
The corners of Baizhu’s serpent eyes turn down unhappily, and he frowns a little. “Changsheng. Manners.” And then, to her, in a gentler voice, "Here. Take this dried goji and haw; it’ll wash out any of the remaining bitterness.” He takes out a burlap satchel from one of the many little cabinets behind the front desk, and places it carefully in her still outstretched hands.
“Thank you… Mr. Baizhu— Doctor.” She can’t quite remember what the person before her had said before leaving, but… any parting phrase should suffice, right? None of the other adepti chide Master when she leaves their gatherings without any goodbyes, after all.
“No need; this is simply part of my job.” Shenhe must have said the right thing, because Baizhu is smiling graciously, waving away her thanks. Shenhe follows the crescent-moon curve of his pale lips all the way to the premature crow’s feet crinkling at the corners of his eyes, and wonders if the years have been unkind to him. As she studies Baizhu’s amber irises and vertical pupils, her thoughts wander to the tomes of adeptal transformation arts squirreled away in a corner of her master’s abode. She wonders how long it has taken him to reach this form, for it almost rivals her master’s in its beauty.
“Ah—on another note, I don’t recall filling a prescription for you in Bubu Pharmacy before? Is it your first time coming here?” Baizhu peers at her carefully over his oval glasses, eyes like yellow jade and Hulao amber. Shenhe holds his eye contact, and then—slowly, slowly, like the boiling of medicine and the flow of ages past, Baizhu’s gaze becomes something… vaster, something… boundless—and suddenly, Shenhe’s falling, rushing past the sights and sounds of Liyue as experienced by generation after generation of disciples and masters and masters and disciples and the ever-present white snake wound around their necks. And then, just as suddenly she is back in the pharmacy, and Baizhu’s eyes are simply circular drops of molten gold, and he has a concerned expression on his face.
“Shenhe, are you alright? Apologies if my question was too prying; I was merely curious.”
“No. I have never been here.”
“Well, in that case, welcome to Bubu Pharmacy. May your coming days be full of good health.”
———
A/N: these two are an absolutely slept on character pair thanks for opening my eyes. sorry that nothing consequential happens in this fic i wanted to squeeze in something about not listening to fate and baizhu looking up her name for connections to the adepti etc. but that didn't happen and ive been stuck on it for 2 weeks so i threw in the towel and said to myself that i'll put it in a more-inspired sequel. sorry if this is again confusing. if there's only 1 take home message you get from this I hope it's that baizhu is A SICKLY ASS MAN (please take care of yourself)
and ofc, if ooc let me know, i heart feedback etc etc. open call for shenhe and baizhu likers to give me their theses on either character because i need to Understand them and study them under a microscope
crossposted to ao3 too ig

Seeing as requests are strictly for cryo ladies I'd lioe to see any cryo ladies with an S/O who can't cope in high temperatures.
This is the best thing my 4 braincells could come up with.
Them with a reader that can't handle heat well
characters: Eula/Ganyu/Shenhe x gn!reader (seperate)
warnings: none
a/n: I already clarified this in a previous post, but requests aren't strictly for cryo ladies, you can still request the other women, I simply wanted to write for the cryo-ladies because I have been brainrotting over them during this *nice* heatwave that I'm currently living through.
I left out Ayaka and Rosaria because it's getting pretty late and I did want to finish it before going to sleep.
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
Eula
Even if Eula wasn’t someone that showed it, she wasn’t a huge fan of the heat either, there was a reason why she took baths in the icy waters of Dragonspine, after all. You had always voiced your thoughts about her habit of doing so, leading her to promise you, that you’d change your opinion about them once day, more than once. And seeing you whine about the heat like this made it seem like the perfect opportunity to do so.
Normally, you’d immediately reject any proposal to go anywhere near the cold waters of Dragonspine, your instinct for self-preservation taking over control before the rest of your brain even had the chance to hear Eula out, but considering the heavy toll the heat had already taken on you, making you unable to even rest in peace without feeling like your home had spontaneously transformed itself into a furnace, jumping headfirst into cold water didn’t sound like a bad idea.
“You know, Eula? I think having visited Dragonspine was enough to cool me down, I think I’m actually ready to go back home already”, you stated before letting out a nervous laugh, regretting having ever agreed to Eula’s proposal the moment the tip of your toe made contact with the ice-cold water, and while you shot her an obviously faked smile, the Lawrence didn’t return the favour one bit, instead giving you a glare.
“Didn’t your parents teach you that it’s extremely rude to go back on your words? In the days of old, breaking one’s promise to an aristocrat would carry serious consequences, and while we no longer live in those days, I wouldn’t expect me to simply leave such a transgression be, if I were you”, she responded before grabbing your arm without words notice and dragging you into the water with her, the somehow unexpected cold causing you to yelp.
“Now don’t act like that. It’s not that cold”, Eula responded to you both literally and figuratively freezing, and while her voice didn’t make it seem like that, she’d be lying if she said she didn’t worry about your reaction in the slightest.
At the end of the day you survived, leaving with not only a new appreciation for warmth, but also probably a cold.
Tumblr media
Ganyu
Whenever summer and its accompanying heat would return to Liyue, it seemed to you like your world was ending. And while you tried your best to put on a brave face in front of others, not wanting to worry Ganyu and any shape or form, the half-Adepti knew you too well at this point to miss your obvious struggle with the temperatures, seeing it as an opportunity to repay you for all the times you took care of her.
Ganyu would use her vision to cool down any room you two found yourself in, no matter if it was inside your home or her office, and while she enjoyed the warmth of the summer sun, the two of you both knew well enough that taking her usual lunch nap anywhere outside of the shade would probably result in you not waking up again.
“How are you dealing with the heat today?”, Ganyu asked you the moment you entered her office, already knowing the answer long before you even opened your mouth to respond but asking anyway, both out of politeness and because she had hoped you’d be honest about it for once.
Instead, you gave her the widest smile you could possibly muster in the heat, hoping she’d ignore the sweat all over your forehead. “I’m doing fine, thanks for asking. Did you remember to take a break every now and then?”, you answered before asking a question in return, only for her to nod her head, proving herself just as much of a liar as you.
“Could you take a look at this paper please and tell me if I filled out everything correctly?” You’d be lying if you said that her asking you for any kind of a favour surprised you, but you walked over to her nonetheless, only for Ganyu to summon her small cryo-orb shortly after, its cold immediately causing you to relax and revel in it. “I’m sorry if the sudden cold annoys you in any way, I just needed to cool down for a second”, she lied once again before shooting you a shy smile, causing you to return the favour with another wide smile, this one being genuine.
Tumblr media
Shenhe
Shenhe herself never had problems with the weather. Having been trained in the mountains under all kinds of extreme conditions by an Adepti made her resistant to almost everything the weather could throw at her. The same could hardly be said about you however, heat wasn’t your preferred weather, far from it. And while Shenhe tried her best to help you, there was only so much she could use her vision for without hurting anyone, she did use it as a weapon most of the time, after all.
Eventually, she got the idea to ask Chongyun for help, and since he seemed to have an almost inexhaustible number of popsicles, at least enough to help him survive the heat of the summer himself, he was happy to donate a few of them to a fellow sufferer-from-heat.
“Shenhe? Is that you?”, you asked the moment you heard the door to your home open, even thought it realistically could have been no one else. And while Shenhe’s footsteps rang through the halls, approaching you much quicker than you had expected them to, you still couldn’t find it in you to actually lift your head from the pillow and look at her, feeling to exhausted from the heat. That was, until you suddenly felt something cold press against your neck, immediately causing you to look at the popsicle in her hand, causing your eyes to widen in surprise before quickly taking it in your own hands.
“I happened to run into Chongyun today, so I asked him if he could spare a popsicle or two of his”, she stated before continuing to silently watch you enjoy every second of eating the popsicle. You finished in a speed that made her almost worried you might get a brain-freeze or however you called it when you explained to her why people tended to look like their heads were hurting after eating something cold.
“Your nephew?”, you asked, wanting to make sure that you didn’t mix any names up, only to let out an internal sigh of relief when she nodded her head in response. “He’s a lifesaver. Thank you so much, Shenhe. I swear I’ll pay you back for it someday”, you thanked her, probably not for the last time that day, before leaning back and enjoying the refreshed moment for as long as it lasted.

@shrapnelsong sent: Alice had caught a glimpse of the outfits Cloud Retainer had made for Shenhe and Ganyu even before the lantern rite had come around and they had stayed in her memory somehow. And the delicate elegance of the motif had stayed with her long after the festival had passed. The doctor had already commissioned Shenhe's birthday present: an Inazuma-style hairpin of a five-petaled white flower in a black base with red accents, and when she traveled back to her homeland to pick it up, she couldn't help picking a few dendrobiums as well, using her vision to preserve their freshness until she'd made her way back to Liyue. Having asked beforehand if the quasi-Adeptus had a moment to spare and meet her on her birthday, Alice found herself a little nervous while waiting at the spot they'd decided on, mostly due to the bouquet of qingxins accented by dendrobiums in her hands that caught the eyes of many she'd walked past. And when the guest of honor arrived wearing that same, gorgeous dress, Alice found herself slightly tongue-tied. "M-Miss Shenhe!" She smiled despite the rise of color along her cheeks and offered her the flowers first. "Happy birthday!"
Her birthdays used to be a lonely, solemn thing. She remembers being happy, overjoyed even, to see her parents smile at her and wish her well. It was a vivid memory she wished would fade into the darkness that surrounded it. In the years following, Cloud Retainer would invite her and the other adepti for a feast amongst friends. It had taken Shenhe a few years to accept that these gatherings were meant to honor the day of her birth. Now, as she got more accustomed to Liyue Harbor's traditions, she learned to entertain certain expectations as her birthday came around once again.
Chef Mao had been understanding with her request for time off, especially since Xiangling and Guoba had returned from their trip just in time to assist the staff during her absence. Yet, her nephew had been a bit too stubborn to invite her to their clan's gathering this year, likely because she had made the harbor her home. It would be quite awkward if she outright refused again. Reluctantly, she accepted—after imposing a few conditions, to which Chongyun was glad to agree with.
First, they would need to respect the plans she had already made.
On the stone bridge that marked one entrance into the harbor, she found her friend holding a bouquet. The familiar pale petals of Qingxins served as a blank canvas for the beautiful crimson blooms that accompanied it. A small smile gently curved Shenhe's lips as her hands, bound by the thin red rope against her palms, adjusted their grip on the handle of her own gift. "Thank you, Miss Alice."
Tumblr media
Now that she understood Alice's penchant for gifts, Shenhe had prepared what was quoted as her "specialty" in exchange. The Dragon Beard Noodles were carefully encased in a box meant to keep warm, the box kept steady on a wooden stand until the delivery made it to its destination. (No one had to know the disaster she wrought while attempting several other recipes). "I've come to realize that I could appreciate my birthday, so long as I can ensure your happiness today, as well."
Though she had much to make up for Alice's overwhelming generosity. Once the gifts were exchanged, she lifted a hand to make sure the pin in her hair was still in place, noting Alice's attention to her different attire. "I was told that I should only wear this on 'special' occasions," she said, with a slight furrow of her brow. They certainly would have told her it was acceptable to wear the outfit on this specific day, yet the date of her birth still held little meaning to her. "I think welcoming a cherished friend back home falls under that criteria."

Oh my! There seem to be a war in this blog. How interesting, wanna know what i do with wars? I fuel the flames ;)
CUE ‘VILLAIN’ BY BELLA POARCH
*pulls out a power point presentation* Hi there! Today allow me to give you 3 top reasons why you should pull for Xiaoyun!
1. Xiaoyun is a good support for Xiao!
As you have said in an old post, you are a Xiao main and he has been sadly being underused (from what i see). Xiaoyun is to be said a good support for Xiao, so people will start using him more with Xiaoyun buffing him. So wouldnt you want your dear boy to have someone to give him good support? Xiaoyun is a good old friend of his and wouldnt you want to have Xiao have a friend fighthing by his side just like back when he was still with the other Five Yakshas when they were alive? Your Xiao would definitely like it (although he would probably be a bit of a tsuntsun at first)
2. Let Xiaoyun fight alongside her daughters! (Also her friends but were focusing on the family aspect first!)
While idk if you have Shenhe and Ganyu but wouldnt it be cute to have the adepti family together? Imagine Xiaoyun fighthing side by side with her daughters as they take down any foe that comes their way! With Shenhe buffing Ganyu and Xiaoyun buffing Xiao, the four of them would be unstoppable! Dont you want to have Xiaoyun see how much her daughters have grown stronger? I think she would be pretty proud of herself but that cant happen if you dont get her yk? Also lets not forget about Zhongli and Yaoyao! If Zhongli joins the team, im sure he will be reminded that he does have someone to share osmanthus wine with, even if everyone is not here. And dont you remember that Xiaoyun had taken such a liking to Yaoyao that she made Yuegui just for her, im sure Xiaoyun will be happy that Yuegui is working as intended!
3. The Mama Xiaoyun series
We all want this and you cant deny this, just like how Kaveh have his dad series, Xiaoyun will gonna have her mama series that you said will come when she is released. You also said you need to have her voicelines and such to understand her so wouldnt it be a perfect to get her to understand her character more? We need to see more cute mama Xiaoyun and [name] posts please! Also idk if im correct but im pretty sure Xiaoyun is a better parent than Arle (please dont kill me bc i havent played the Fontaine Archon Quest yet but from what i’ve seen, Arle is too sus of a parent that i just have mixed feelings about her)
And that is the end of my presentation, thank you for listening and i hope you make the right choice :)
- 😼 Anon
(Ok but jokes aside, pull her if you really want to. If you think you could grind more primogems for Arle, then go ahead, if you dont think you can, then dont since you could always wait for Xiaoyun’s rerun. As to quote a certain stellaron hunter, “When you have a chance to make a choice, make one that you know you won't regret”)
(Also I love your Huohuo younger sibling post, glad to know you expanded on the idea)
NOT THE LITTLE DEVIOUSLY SMILING CAT EMOJI HELPLSJDKSGJG
xianyun would buff my team IN GENERAL and she can be built as a healer.... which means..... if i WANTED to...... i could remove kokomi (she's mainly only there to heal my xiao during his burst) and restructure my team entirely........ AND xianyun's healing is based off of her attack....... which means she can do DamageTM and heal simultaneously.......... and her healing follows the on field character...... oughgh. it's like xianyun was designed specifically to target ME *head in hands*
i don't acually have shenhe, ganyu, or zhongli haha. only yaoyao! i was going to pull for zhongli but i don't like shielders much. they would all be so cute together though you're right fr i won't deny that
no you're right LMAOOOO arlecchino is actually a very bad father. i just like to pretend she's not 😇 i believe she DOES genuinely care about her children, but she also grooms them into being blindly loyal to her and the house of the hearth family. So. yeahhh....... xianyun is DEFINITELY a better parent than she is........
(tbh i was probably always going to pull for xianyun. i can't even lie haha--i would see her banner and i would NOT be able to resist. she's just designed perfectly for my team and i love her character. there's no telling if i would actually like arlecchino's playstyle, even if she does become playable. i would probably still pull for her, but it helps when i like the playstyle AND the character.
also, i'm glad you like the huohuo post!!!! she is very dear to me <3)

vision criteria
a lot of fans hate the concept of criteria for visions but i do believe there is one, just.. not as part of the world building? like i dont know if i’d go as far as to say whatever entity or mechanism in charge of granting visions has a criteria of its own, but there seems to be a common narrative between he characters of each respective element.
a doylist criteria, if u will.
so far i've looked into cryo, anemo and pyro (i did make posts back in the day but they're now privated until i can word all of it better)
anemo
acceptance of circumstances out of one's control
people often joke about anemo characters' shared trait being the death of a friend, even though heizou is the only one whose loss of a loved one was involved in gaining his vision.
kazuha had already gained his when his friend defied the musou no hitotachi, faruzan gained hers before she realized she had been trapped for a century and everyone she knew was dead, and tatarasuna people were long gone when wandered gained his. moreover, we don't know when xiao got his, and characters like jean, sucrose and sayu do not feature any death in their lore.
the narrative is present, however, especially through the archon himself who wears the face of the nameless bard in order to honor his memory.
the death of a loved one seems just a very direct way of approaching the theme of acceptance of something that's out of one's control. anemo characters struggle with this throughout their lives, and gain a vision when they're able to overcome it.
the ruin of the kaedehara clan was out of kazuha's control, for instance, and he gained his vision when he decided to focus on the positive aspects of life rather than his misfortunes.
jean had to fulfill the duty of her clan since she was young, depriving herself of experiences that are normal for other children, and she gains her vision when she apprehends the corrupt members of the knights of favonius and proves to herself that these sacrifices are worth it.
sayu gains hers when she decides to turn her small size to her advantage; wanderer (anemo poster child tbh) gains his when he accepts the memories of his "past incarnation" as his own; heizou gains his when he accepts evil is part of human nature and makes it personal; sucrose gains hers when her interest for alchemical experiments starts overshadowing her original goal to recreate a childhood fantasy she shared with friends she lost contact with.
cryo
acceptance of the self
the most distinctive trait of cryo characters is inner duality, theres a part of themselves they struggle with and they only gain their vision when they accept themselves wholly. sometimes this is approached more directly with life or death situations in which the character has to save themselves, and therefore find enough worth as they are.
everyone knows what's up with kaeya's backstory. it's not just telling the truth about who he is that grants him a vision, because it appears later when he's fighting against diluc. he gains it when he blocks an attack, protecting himself and no longer being ashamed (or at least at this crucial moment)
rosaria was taken in by a gang of criminals who massacred her village when she was a baby. she struggles to define the place she had within this group, unsure if she should call them fathers or not. she gains her vision when she tries to escape, and one of them challenges her to a fight to death that she wins
qiqi is a zombie who gains hers when she wishes to stay alive in the midst of dying
shenhe is cursed since childbirth, her duality is more about who she wants to be despite her fate. she gains her vision while fighting an evil spirit/god that her father tried to sacrifice her to
ganyu is half adepti half human, and unlike yanfei she struggles to belong on either side. she gains a vision when she decides to stay in liyue to help the qixing, effectively picking a side although she doesnt realize it
chongyun was born with yang energy which prevents him from performing exorcisms. he gains his vision because he decides he'll still achieve this goal with this condition, not in spite of it
eula gains her vision when she decides to follow her own principles, regardless of what her clan and mondstadt want to impose on her
ayaka is limited by her duty and social class against her fantasies of a regular or adventurous life. gains her vision when she proves to herself she's worthy of her position
layla is a very insecure person, especially regarding her academic skills. theres the whole DID as well. she gains her vision at some point while she argues with a professor, effectively being confident in her ideas.
i havent checked mika's bc sincerely zZz
diona's the only one who doesnt fit in this narrative. she's a very lonely kid who only has her dad as company, but he gives more attention to alcohol than her. she gains her vision when she goes out during a snow storm to look for him, admitting her uncondtional love with that action.
pyro
im not sure how to word this yet.
the common pattern seems to be about carrying a legacy, more directly addressed through family businesses but there's other characters with more abstract ones:
diluc & his father's winery
hu tao & her family's funerary tradition
amber & her grandfather's outrider force
bennet & his dads' wish for success in adventuring
klee & alice's teachings
xianling & liyue's cuisine/her father's restaurant
xinyan & the essence of rock music
yanfei & the integrity of law
yoimiya & her family's fireworks business
dehya & her father's will (although she misunderstands what that is until her story quest)
inheriting something has not much to do with it, it's the way this element forms part of their characterization and how it's involved in gaining a vision. just because a character has a family business it doesnt mean they fit the criteria.
for example:
bennett's was a bit burdened by the lack of success of his dads, he thought he had to achieve something to give meaning to their lives, but gains his vision when he realizes that success is not needed and the experiences in and of itself are what makes an adventurer.
diluc followed the ambitions of his father, and believed them to be their own. he never questioned his choices, as long as they made his father happy. when he's faced with his death, the fact he owned a delusion, and the corruption in the knights his whole sense of self shatters and when he leaves mondstadt, he also leaves his vision (which he called his and his father's shared ambition) behind. then he returns to do exactly what he was doing before (protecting mond), but this time it's under his own terms: no longer under the knights of favonius (the frustrated dream of his father)
it feels as though pyro characters gain their visions when they realize themselves, who they are and what they want regardless of what has been imposed on them. they might follow this legacy like diluc or hu tao, or they might search for their own path like bennett and dehya.
perhaps xinyan is more the poster child, someone who protects who she is despite the constant pushback from society, something that she fights to change.
some accept their legacies as their genuine path and others rebel against it, and then others rebel against it and still accept it in their own terms. how to put it?
perhaps it's the realization of individuality?
the legacy is not important, as it is with the narrative of dead loved ones or duality in the other elements, it feels more like a trial to find the character's individuality.
hydro
i still struggle with the other elements, mainly because i have yet to go through each character profile to analyze them cohesively.
it's hard to find the right common pattern.
they have a high status in their respective fields:
barbara is a church idol in the nation of poetry and ballads with high devotion to their god
candace is the village's appointed guardian
ayato is the clan/commission's leader
mona is a renowned astrologist
nilou is the star of the theater
kokomi is watatsumi's high priestess
childe is a harbinger
xingqiu is the best diciple of guhua
yelan is yelan
some of them are innovators/change tradition:
barbara changed the music scene in mond, from traditional folk music to her idol stuff ig
candace went against the elders in the village so they could start making business with outsiders, since she wants aaru village to flourish beyond the burden of their past
yelan stood up to ningguang in how things were done
yet others are catalysts for preservation:
ayato upholds his clan and remains loyal to the raiden shogun not out of genuine conviction, but for filial piety (to honor his parents and protect his sister)
mona protects the integrity of her art to her own detriment
likewise, nilou doesnt have greater ambitions in regards to her dancing skills
xingqiu revived the arts of the guhua clan
kokomi could fit in both, since she carries the will of orobashi, and rather than following personal ideals in how to rule her people, she wants to follow their collective wishes. but then she's also working hard in erasing the generational trauma/resentment they have against the shogunate.
childe is. childe is a special case. he wanted to become the hero of the stories his father told him, and to this end he's made it his own conviction to protect children's dreams. thats the element of preservation, but i dont know how he gained his vision so i cant say how significant this narrative was in the process.
in a way, characters who have innovated are also conducts for preservation through that innovation (preserving music, preserving the village's future, preserving the lives of those who work in the shadows of the qixing)
perhaps like legacy is a trial for pyro characters, this aspect of preservation/innovation is also a trial for hydro ones, but as to what's the underlying narrative.. i cant tell. yet.
electro
i think some of them share the pattern of being tools for a higher purpose, especially ei, cyno and sara. they're not tools like scaramouche was, because thats something he pretty much was created as and had no control over, but this is rather a deliberate choice they make. they chose this for themselves completely out of their own free will.
theres characters like fischl who directly embody something else, her identity is put aside much like the tool characters do for their conviction.
there's a bit of sacrifice involved in doing this i guess?
that's about it, as far as i can go without analyzing the character profiles further.

@etherealcurse : ever changing eyes look up when the man approaches the stone table , and shenhe is quick to get up too ; her master had told her to not bother the gentleman whenever he decided to appear , and she never did - even if curious . so , she bows to him in respect , before beginning to walk away : part of her knew better than to sit down there , but . . . at the very center of the small pond , on top of the mountain and under the tree , she felt at peace . @ zhongli!
Days like this truly were the finest to enjoy a stroll outdoors and reminisce on the old days. The weather was fair with a gentle breeze to keep one fresh as the temperature was beginning to rise with the passing of the spring season. Truly, a perfect time to find himself atop Mt. Aocang as he often does when caught up in his nostalgia.
Typically Zhongli would find himself alone and was content to sit with only the sounds of nature keeping him company, but as he saw Shenhe politely beginning to make her way elsewhere he paused in his stride to turn on his heel and regard her with a kind smile. He had not had the time to get to know Shenhe as she was raised in a newer generation of disciples taken in as he had begun to pull away from the Adepti and integrate himself into the world of humans, but from what he has heard she has certainly become a formidable force and a mere look at her showed she has matured into quite a stunning young woman. How could he not take the time to sate his curiosity now that he had a chance to?
Tumblr media
"You need not go if you do not wish to. Had I known one was already present enjoying the peaceful atmosphere I would have gone elsewhere so as not to disturb you, but if you do not mind company I would be honored if you would join me. I have heard rumors of a beautiful, white-haired woman who seems to rescue lost pilgrims from themselves in this dangerous land belonging to the Adepti, and who am I but a mere funeral consultant who should not so casually displace one such as yourself."

what does Tsaritsa thinks of cryo users?<3
[] What my Tsaritsa thinks of Cryo users []
Kaeya
“Kaeya’s family is Khaenri’ahn? Hm… I know very little about the nation other than the fact that it isn’t exactly close to Mondstadt, in either culture or location. Still, with that information alone, I find it commendable that he’s made a stable footing for himself.”
Eula
“So she left her clan to become the captain of one of Favonius’s companies? This may be a bit of a personal addition… but as someone who long wanted to do the same to her own family, I must say that it takes true courage to do what she did.”
Rosaria
“Oh, she was the lone survivor of that bandit attack by the border with Mondstadt. When the event was fresh in Snezhnaya’s mind, I remember feeling guilt that she went through that and I didn’t help. It’s good that she’s adjusted to her new life.
What’s that? She worships Barbatos now? That’s fine by me. If she believes he helped her more than I could, I won’t try to change her mind. Even then, it’s not like she’s incorrect…”
Diona
“Is that child making alcoholic beverages? Who is running that city to the point where this is perfectly legal? It’s a good thing that she’s strictly against alcohol. Otherwise, I’d truly have something to inform Varka of.”
Mika
“Capitano has actually introduced me to Mika on several occasions; for as soft-spoken as he is, we get along quite well. Our conversations give me a bit more insight into what goes on in Mondstadt…
…though, when I say he’s shy, I mean it. When I congratulated him for making the knights, his face turned so red that I had to cool him off with a spare Delusion!”
Shenhe
“She and I are something of a kindred spirit. Both her and I were forced to take on a challenge bigger than them, eventually being isolated from everyone they loved…
That was quite depressing. Point being, I can relate to her troubles.”
Ganyu
“An Adepti who never signed a contract with Morax? I suppose it would make the most sense to try and make your own decisions while only being restricted by your own moral code. It’s a unique situation among Liyue’s divinity, though, I must admit.”
Chongyun
“The art of exorcism requires devotion and discipline, I’d imagine. As such, his excess of Yang energy must certainly make the whole process more difficult. Still, his persistence in controlling his emotions is something I can respect.”
Qiqi
“From the stories I’ve heard of her, the last thing she thought of before dying was her family’s wellbeing. It’s quite a shame that such an innocent soul was taken by divine intervention. Fortunately, she is alive for us now, even if she is a zombie.”
Kamisato Ayaka
“She’s essentially the princess of Inazuma, right? Well, if that’s the case, then I am in complete support of her using her position for good; the nation needs all the help it can get right now.”
Layla
“The student from the Akademiya? Ah— if you cross her, please tell her to relax! I understand that studying is incredibly important, especially in the lands of Buer, but nothing should come before one’s own health.”

Note
It just strikes me as odd that Xiao has an actual voiced line about Zhongli, implying that he knows he is Rex Lapis but Ganyu doesn’t. Her voiced lines about him don’t seem to give a sign of acknowledgment that she knows his secret. Heck, even Shenhe has a voiced line about Zhongli where its implied that Cloud Retainer knows what form Rex Lapis taken while keeping Shenhe in the dark.
It's because the other adepti know that I'm confident that Ganyu knows as well, even though she doesn't have a voice line about him. Why would he inform every other adepti that he's fought alongside about his status but not Ganyu? It just makes no sense.
Shenhe not knowing does make sense as she's not an adepti, she's just Cloud Retainer's desciple.

❝A god's puppet❞
Note! Hi hello, good evening, good afternoon, and good morning. Enjoy?
✎...Includes : A lot
❬Information: not much disturbing topics but cult and mentions of obsessive behaviours ❭
Intro:
So I have a thought,,,,, what if instead of a god who created,,, you were the god who controlled.
Like...You didn't create Teyvat. You controlled it.
You controlled people.
Archons even.
With the appearance of the traveler. Everything became strange. They could always feel an unknown presence around him— a presence that made them—everyone feel at ease.
Soon that presence start to linger around them too. It felt akin to a warm welcoming embrace. The presence so strong, so warm so, so addicting. They couldn't fight it when it started to control them.
Not even the strongest vision user could stop it, hell even Archons couldn't. It was far too powerful.
(I'm referring to when you pull for characters)
It was at first concerning but it didn't cause them any harm. Although wary they let it be. And sooner or later they start to get used to it.
In fact they start to like it. They start to crave it.
To them the presence was odd.... It lingers around them for days— weeks or maybe months sometimes years but then suddenly it disappeares- far more longer than the time they stayed. (Time is different in game and irl)
It was....strange—having used to being around it, they didn't like the feeling of the sudden emptiness whenever it wasn't around.
Why disappear so suddenly?
They wanted to ask. But they know they cant. It will never answer. You will never answer.
They also start to notice how weird everyone seems. Like how they (the NPCS) seem to always repeat the same thing whenever they (the characters) talk to them when you're around but will act normally when you aren't.
They start to question everything. What were you? Why do you affect the world around you?
They felt like they were puppets—the presence acting as the strings that bind them—while an unknown hand controls their every movement.
And they wished to know who that hand was. Who was the one powerful enough to control Archons? To control even the most powerful people in Teyvat? Who were you? And why can't they break free from you?
Then they start to misunderstand. Were you perhaps a God of some sort?
Well I mean. You could control Archons. If you were no God then what were you?
They start to become curious too. Curious as to who you were. To what you were.
That curiosity start to become some sort of obsession uh oh cult time. They couldn't find anything about you. You were a God who was not written in any transcript nor were you in any history books.
No one has heard of you— not even Zhongli nor did Venti. Ei's sister never told her about you.
To them it felt like an insult. How dare they not know about someone as great as you? How could they not know you?
You deserved to be known.
You needed to known.
It felt like a sin not to know you.
They start to gather. They start to call themselves your worshipper. Your dearest servants who would follow you to the ends of the world.
Your puppets.
They start to form groups—cults, that worship you, inviting non vision users to worship you and your name.
Each controlling entity in every nation start to make shrines dedicated to you
Jean who orders the knights to build a shrine outside Mondsadt City, tasking Albedo into making an outline of how the Shrine would look like. Venti can sometimes be seen admiring it.
Ningguang who builds a shrine somewhere in Liyue, adoring it with gold and many other jewels. The adepti also built a separate shrine somewhere in the mountains—often visited by Ganyu, Qiqi, Yanfei, Shenhe, Xiao and Zhongli.
Outside Tenshukaku, Ei orders the commissioners to build a shrine too— there's also one somewhere in Watatsumi island —one that is personally being taken care by Kokomi and Gorou.
The shrines were useless of course—since for some reason those things always seemed to disappear whenever you were around but would reappear when you aren't
What's the use of building it if you can't see it?
(it's not programmed in game,, A+ for effort tho)
And if you think that's bad wait 'til they become self aware.
idk if anyone has done this yet but whatever here is another contribution to SAGAU hope u enjoyed
