Oi noble bell herbivore! What's someone like you doing walking around in a place like this? I would've slept soundly by now, but the click of those shoes of yours made my ears tick. Tch, along with you muttering about judgment, blessings, and God makes it noisy. Heard things about you from Radish sprout and the others, heh. You're mad. Now I do hope you keep the flame inside you, though. *Sighs* wouldn't want my napping spot to catch Hellfire.
I would recommend reading these headcanons after this interaction ^^ I think they serve as a good follow-up to this initial encounter.
Like Fire, Hellfire.
Tumblr media
"It's Rollo Flamme," he sternly corrected the man stalking toward him amid the flowers and foliage. The hairs on the back of Rollo's neck stood up, sensing danger. "I do not believe I owe anyone an explanation for simply roaming the school grounds. They are open to any approved visitor such as myself."
The lion beastman bore a face he had seen in various texts: a prince from a far-off land. A Kingscholar, the second-born. Indeed, despite his wayward locks and shirt that practically hung half open, he carried himself with a natural grace only befitting that of one with noble heritage.
Another horrifying mage to add to his growing list of enemies.
Rollo grasped for his safety net, his beloved handkerchief. It swiftly covered his burgeoning grimace.
"All humans are herbivores to me," the Kingscholar scoffed, “and you marched right into a lion’s den. You’re just asking for trouble.”
Trouble—that was the last thing Rollo wanted, not on this (supposedly) cordial visit. It would draw too many eyes to him, attract too much unwanted attention. He forced himself to bend into a stiff bow.
"... Your grace." When he was met with silence, Rollo cautiously lifted his head. "I do apologize if my presence and proclivities have disturbed you. I will make myself scarce on my way out."
"Hoh?" A smirk on the lion's lips, and amusement flitting in his deep voice. "Now this is rich. You're giving me a death stare, but the words you're spouting are straining to stay nice. Radish Sprout and the others were right about you—you're pretty two-faced, hmm?"
"I'm afraid that this is how I always look. It is the one and only face I was born with.”
"That's the second time I've heard someone claim that as a defense. And that other guy?" The beastman was very close to Rollo. Showing his teeth, breath nipping at his skin. "He tried usurping the throne for himself."
“Did he now.”
Rollo’s tone was neutral in spite of the anger curling in him. He was disappointed, but not surprised, at the conferred secret. Mages were doomed to ruin one way or another, seeking power when they were weak and abusing it once it was in their hands.
They will ever know true solace. His mouth pinched.
The prince’s eyes glinted—not from sunlight streaming in through glass panes, but with a lazy interest. “… I smell it on you, you know. That cloying stench of magic. You’ve got it caged up like some poor, feral animal.”
The large cat circled his prey like a shark. Each stride he took was long and effortless, slowly riling up the unease in Rollo. Toying with him.
The wet heat of the Botanical Gardens was suddenly registering in full force. The fabric of Rollo’s robes clung to him, as if it, too, wished to retreat from the wild cat in its proximity. Discomfort settled.
“Unlike you Night Raven College miscreants, I am able to resist such sinful desires. I won’t let them spiral out of my control.”
“Sooner or later, that beast will want to be freed,” the lion coyly purred, “you can’t keep it contained forever. Your mask will slip—and with it, a grip on that dark fire.”
“… My, rather presumptuous of you to make these bold, accusatory comments to a man you just met. I’m aware that lion beastmen have a keen sense of smell, but I might make a recommendation: keep your nose out of other peoples’ matters.”
He threw his head back and laughed—rumbling and resonant against their glass cage. “I’m sure we’ll have to chance to become better acquainted with one another. It’s part of a prince’s duties to host important foreign dignitaries… and I’m nothing if not the paragon of princeliness.”
The sarcasm wasn’t missed.
Rollo allowed himself to openly frown. “You certainly haven’t been playing the part of a dutiful host, let alone royalty of any sort.”
“Oh?” He feigned, a hand drawn to his chest in mock shock. “Where are my manners?”
This time, the lion bowed to Rollo.
His facade, matching. Airs put on. Two playing at the exact same game.
“Leona Kingscholar,” he declared. The name itself was palpable and weighty. “A pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Sir Flamme of the Shaftlands. You simply must pay a visit to Savanaclaw during your stay on Sage’s Island. I think I speak for my entire dorm when I say we’d love to have you for dinner.”
Rollo sniffed. “As though anyone would be convinced by this flattery.”
“Yeah, sure. Act tough and see where that gets you. I know you’ve got to visit us all eventually.” Leona tapped his temple with an index finger. “Social grace and all.”
“… Tch.”
Rollo didn’t want to admit it, but the (infuriating) man was right. His grip on his staff tightened.
“… I humbly accept your kind invitation,” he grumbled through gritted teeth. “Thank you for this invaluable opportunity.”
“Heh. Don’t pop a blood vessel yet.” Leona put a hand on Rollo’s shoulder, nearly shoving him over with a firm pat. (He didn’t look sorry about it as he baked off.) “Like I said, watch yourself. Wouldn’t want to be going and accidentally causing a forest fire, would we?”
Rollo’s eyes went hard.
His next words, dangerously soft.
“No, I suppose we wouldn’t.”

Trey Info Compilation part 27: Thoughtfulness and More
Trey seems to be well known for being considerate: Cater says that Trey is always spoiling new students and Azul comments that Trey has an effortless consideration of others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see him asking Sebek about himself, expressing concern for Lilia and being worried about Riddle being too cold at night when he himself is sick (“Even now, you worry about me? Really, Trey, you ought to think about yourself for once”).
He also asks Jamil and Najma about themselves and says the group ought to tell Lilia how much thought Malleus put into his souvenir.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Jamil is reluctant to accept an honor that is offered to him at the end of the event, Trey encourages him to make his sister happy.
During Spectral Soiree Trey intentionally sends Sebek after a non-existent ghost in order to distract him from Rook, saying, “I just figured you wouldn’t want people prying into your private life. I’ve noticed you tend to steer clear of that kind of stuff when- we talk at club meetings. But I’m sorry if I read too much into it and overstepped.” Rook thanks him for maintaining “such a pleasant distance,” saying he is forever grateful for Trey’s discretion.
Trey compliments Azul on his glasses, saying that they look great on him and give off a mature vibe, and encourages Riddle not to work too hard, to which Riddle responds, “Trey always was a worrier.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Trey sends chocolate cake and apple pie to Ramshackle with Ace and Deuce for Book 5 Vil comments that Trey is “the type of man one must truly watch himself around—the kind who spoils people rotten under the guise of knowing what’s best.”
Vil’s opinion on Trey’s thoughtfulness comes up again during Culinary Crucible when Trey assures him that he has cut down on the fat and sugar content of his dish, saying, “You addressed my concern before I could even finish voicing it. You’re too considerate by half. It’s almost galling.” Trey says he will take it as a compliment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Ruggie wanders out of his own vignette and into Trey’s in search of food (after Kalim had botched the meal he was supposed to judge), Trey offers him a second pizza that he made.
Vil observes, “Trey, you really do spoil people rotten. It’s a bad habit of yours, the way you try to stay on top of every eventuality.” Vil asks if Trey also bails out Heartslabyul students when they botch their cooking and Trey admits that he does find himself covering for them a lot.
Vil explains, “It’s all well and good to look out for underclassmen, but you can’t baby them. That can rob them of potential learning experiences. There’s a balance to be struck.”
Trey relates a time when his parents once let him burn a batch of cookies, only looking on as he worked without interfering. Trey thanks Vil for his insight and says he will put it into practice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trey is Ruggie’s judge for the Culinary Crucible, complimentary towards Ruggie’s culinary efforts and is able to read the room effectively enough to refuse the leftovers that the chef ghost offers him afterwards ("I'd rather not get on Ruggie's bad side").
It is possible that Trey doesn’t really experience as much thoughtfulness as he practices: when he tries to explain the science behind fireworks to the Firelit Sky group, they ignore him in favor of playing with sparklers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trey says he likes hats and the hat he wears with his dorm uniform was made to match it.
Like Jamil, Trey might wish he had more alone time: when Jamil wishes “to take a trip by myself” during Wish Upon a Star Trey says that he can empathize, as “Alone time’s hard to come by when you’re at school…sometimes you want a little peace and quiet.”
When Jamil asks if he feels the same way sometimes Trey laughs and says, “Maybe.”
Trey says that, unlike Cater, he can go days without picking up his phone, and he prefers to wear casual clothes with muted colors.

Hellooooo! I’m so glad that you’re still active and making insightful posts. Piggybacking off a thought from the recent tsum event, do you think Jade also has thoughts regarding individuality? Like, it’s obvious from Floyd that he wants to be seen as his own person and not always compared to his brother. But Jade? I’m guessing that he doesn’t care, but I think it’s partly because a lot of people who don’t know him personally think he’s the better twin and doesn’t need to compare him to Floyd because why would they?
Also, do you think that’s why the twins bonded to Azul in middle school? Not just because of his deals and magical prowess, but because he was clever and observant enough to tell them apart? Or do you think he learned to tell them apart after they had several chance meetings that later evolved into friendship?
It’s an important aspect of their relationship that I don’t think gets enough attention because I’ve seen fics or headcanons where the tweels switch and no one can tell them apart—not even Azul! This is just a nice crumb that I think really delves deep into their relationship without meaning to, but still leaves us wanting more.
Apologies for the ramble! I just wanted to know what your thoughts were!
rubs hands gleefully ohhh my dear, i am so glad you asked. :) And thank you so much for the kind words, even though I haven't been too active. I'm trying to get posts up and asks answered while things are much more free at this time.
It's been months since this ask came in oops, and iirc this ask is referring to tsum 2. In one of the stories in the main event, Floyd and Azul talked about when Azul and Jade found their respective tsums. That time, Azul was like, "Oh, did Floyd's tsum come back? No wait, upon closer inspection, that's Jade." Floyd then asked Azul how he was able to tell them apart, and his answer was something like, "I'm a businessman, I have to be good at knowing people." And Floyd's like, "Suuuuure."
Now, Floyd cares about individuality, that much is established. You see this in Floyd's School Uniform vignette and even in the beginning of his Platinum Jacket vignette.
But what about Jade?
So we don't really have a lot to go for since Jade is not the type to be open about these things. But I do agree that individuality is not in Jade's interest, not like Floyd. Rather, what I think is happening here is the "different yet the same" theme that has been at constant play with the tweels.
Okay, let's explain what this "different yet the same" theme is. Basically, it's Jade and Floyd doing different things, having different desires, yet it all connects to the same thing.
This is explicitly seen in Beans Day 1 and 2. Jade challenged Azul by making him think that Jade would shoot from there and thus lure him away from the harp. However, when he reached the tower and met Jade, Azul found that he had an empty bean shooter, and the real target was actually Yuu. Nevertheless, because he had no beans, Azul was able to tap him out.
Meanwhile, Floyd went fuck the rules and fought Azul (and Jamil) with empty bean shooters. It was against the rules, so it ended up being a fight where the harp no longer mattered. He ended up being caught by Azul as well.
And after capturing Floyd, Azul makes this comment:
Azul: Seriously, though. I can't believe BOTH of you challenged me to battle with empty bean blasters, just in different ways. You and your brother really are two peas in a pod. [From EN localization of Beans 2-38]
Jade and Floyd went about challenging Azul in different ways, Jade using mind games while Floyd was more of a physical brawl. But the commonality is that they used unconventional and even rule-breaking means: by using empty bean shooters.
You also see this theme in their Platinum vignettes. In particular, this is about what they do when they're interested in something and what pushes them to toss things away.
Platinum Jade vignette reveals that Jade disposes of things when he loses interest in them. It's also revealed that his interest in something is manifested in collecting numerous things of a fixation.
Jade: I suppose so. I don’t often choose to wear accessories as much anymore. Jade: Although, I do recall collecting a few hundred pieces… Riddle: A few hundred!? If you had collected that much, then I’m sure there would be some that still suit your tastes now… Jade: Perhaps. However, I have since disposed of all those accessories I collected back then. Riddle: Disposed all of them…? Even though you had so fervently collected them? Jade: Correct. Keeping things that no longer interest you is simply a waste of space, wouldn’t you say?
Jade: Ah yes, actually, there was something that caught my attention when I came to the surface, as well. Jade: It is nothing unusual, and in fact can be found pretty much anywhere on land… Jade: Once I took note of them, I could really feel the intention behind those that made them, as well as their various designs. It is profoundly fascinating. Riddle: Hmmm, nothing comes to mind. What is it that caught your attention that much? Jade: Fufu, well, that would be… manhole lids. Jade: Some lids are designed to show off local specialties or attractions. Jade: Of course, there are no manholes in the ocean. So my interest was piqued as I was searching up on what use they could possibly serve… Jade: For a little while, I did find myself collecting a few hundred various merchandise of manhole lids with unusual designs, as well. [TL by @mysteryshoptls]
Meanwhile, Platinum Floyd vignette (sort of) reveals that Floyd loses interest in something when it breaks. He also opens up that his interest really comes out when he's hunting for something that's hard to find.
Floyd: I once found this silver ring online that looks like an eel is wrapped around your finger. Kalim: Woah! I've never seen a ring that looks like that before! I bet it'd look good on you. Floyd: Riiight? But the manufacturers had already discontinued it. I wouldn't be able to find it so easily. Floyd: And when something is hard to get… doesn't it just make you want it more? Floyd: So, after that, I went looking for it, big time. Floyd: I went 'round to a bunch of second-hand shops that carry the brand, and even asked my pops to reach out to some of his connections who'd know about stuff like that. Floyd: I get bored pretty easily, so I usually don't try that hard trying to find just one thing. Cool, huh?
Floyd: When I put it on, it totally felt like the ring was made just for me! And I got super attached to it. Floyd: So then, I wore it pretty much all the time after that, even when I exercised or took showers… Floyd: It ended up getting a ton of scratches, and got all tarnished, man~
Floyd: Silver stuff tends to degrade pretty quickly if you don't take care of it, but the ring's design was a bit complicated, so it was way too annoying to clean. Kalim: Then, what if you remake it in platinum or white gold? They don't tarnish that easily. I can introduce you to one of my family's craftsmen! Floyd: Naaah. Kalim: Eh, why? I thought that was a pretty good idea… Floyd: C'mon, Sea Otter-chan. I was all happy because it was hard to get my hands on. Floyd: If I had someone make it for me, then that's not the same thing. Floyd: It's 'cause it took a ton of hard work and searching for it was fun that I like that specific ring. Floyd: Maybe it's a pain to clean, but I like it. So I'll use it until it breaks. [TL by @mysteryshoptls]
They like to find the thing(s) that pique their interest, just that Jade collects many, while Floyd hunts for one thing that's difficult. They stop caring or dispose of those things when they are no longer interesting. It's just that Floyd loses interest when it's broken, which may take a while. Jade loses interest rather quickly, and then he disposes of those things or abandons it if it's a hobby. Different ways of going about it, but the same at their core.
So now that we established that, what does this mean about what Floyd and Jade value? And what does this say about their relationship with Azul?
So we know Floyd values individuality and doesn't understand how people mix up him and Jade, as seen in his Platinum vignette. The way that I'd interpret it, he wants to be accepted as his own individual, as his own person. I think he values Azul for being able to recognize the person that he is, rather than just being Jade's twin. Floyd wants to be recognized and accepted as who he is.
Jade, on the other hand, I don't think he values individuality. Rather, I think he values connection and community. There are plenty of reasons why I think this is the case, and it needs its own post to be honest. But to make it short, the best proofs of this is, funnily enough, the game itself and the Platinum vignettes. Jade and Azul have been together in four events: Beans 1, Halloween 1, Camp 2, and Tsum 2. And in the current New Year event, Jade's card not only shows him wearing an outfit resembling Azul's uniform, but his elements are double Water, the same elements as Dorm Azul card. As for the Platinum vignettes, notice how Floyd describes having interest in one object that's hard to find, which may allude to individuality. Meanwhile, Jade collects multiple of the same thing, alluding to community.
And I think Jade values closeness with another because it means that the other has accepted him enough to allow him within their inner circle. And Jade in turn would allow that other person within his own inner circle. Thus, it creates a community that may be small but is trustworthy.
In short, where Floyd may value being seen as his own individual, Jade would value connection. But in the end, I think they both want one thing: acceptance. And Azul can and does give them that.
I also find that Azul is such a nice balance for the tweels who tend to sit on opposite ends of a spectrum.
Floyd, who tends to do things more physically, can connect to Azul, whose strength under the sea is admirable. Floyd, who enjoys obtaining things that require hard work, can connect with Azul, who works hard to obtain the things he wants. Floyd, who values his individuality, is interested in Azul, who wants to become the best version of himself.
Jade, whose energy is more focused on plotting and mind games, can connect with Azul, who's witty and able to manipulate things to his favor. Jade, who collects various things that interest him, is interested in Azul, who has his own growing collection of coins that has stayed until now. Jade, who values connection, wants to connect with Azul, who also wishes to connect with others, not just in a business sense, but also on a personal level with select folks.
It's a big part of why their teamwork works so seamlessly. Azul being able to connect with both of the twins allows him to make plans and schemes that can be done with both of them by his side. And while he acknowledges that he can't control the twins, Azul is able to get them to follow him willingly because of that connection they share.

Preliminary thoughts on Leona’s advice for Jamil, his perception on Kalim, and the Scarabia development implied in Chapter 6′s ending. (AKA "A Pathetic Attempt at a Scarabia Essay”)
I think I am speaking for all of us when I say that Chapter 6 has, by far, been the most interesting and satisfactory Twst arc. Ever. I don’t know where to begin in describing it, honestly, but I think you would understand once you get to read it for yourself.
I’ll mostly be focusing on the topics I stated above, but this post will still be laden with spoilers for Chapters 4, 5, and 6, so if you aren’t up for Scarabia-centric spoilers, please skip this post!
SCARABIA PRE-CHAPTER 6 (I)
In this section, I’ll be talking about the dynamic between Jamil and Kalim over the course of Chapter 4 & 5, as well as a few of their interactions in relevant personal stories. I’ll start with the latter.
(Source: Jamil’s Dorm Uniform SSR Vignette)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is a universally known truth that...Jamil has zero trust in leaving things up to Kalim. And we can’t really blame him---with the way they used to be, he couldn’t leave Kalim alone, nor could he rely on him to do something he’d been expected to do.
(Source: Jamil’s Ceremonial Robes SR Vignette)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Source: Jamil’s School Uniform R Vignette)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many occurrences have been more than enough proof of that, and those few moments wherein Kalim actually was reliable paled in comparison to these negative instances. As such, it has so happened that, to the surprise of no one, Jamil has made a habit out of taking responsibility after responsibility and sparing Kalim none of it----adding further onto his contempt towards him and Kalim’s own ignorance to Jamil’s difficulties.
(Source: Book 4, Chapter 37: The Magic Dispelled)
Tumblr media
This has something to do with how, generally speaking, Jamil has always viewed Kalim too negatively. His frustration isn’t unfounded, of course, but he’s closed off his mind to the prospect of Kalim ever becoming more than what he already made him out to be---when in fact, Kalim is more than willing to become someone Jamil can rely on.
So, there. Jamil’s perception of Kalim hasn’t been the best...and naturally, it won’t change immediately. These are years and years of grudges we’re talking about, after all. It even reaches to the extent that in Episode 5-34, Jamil tells Epel that, “If he himself is laughing, then it’s probably not that heavy” when the latter mentions that Kalim was laughing despite talking about a traumatizing topic and sharing about the reason why he strives to keep living.
Jamil seems to view Kalim precisely for the first thing he sees of him, and not for what possibly lies behind all of his cheer.
Regardless...

...and facets of Kalim that he will only continue to realize.
SCARABIA PRE-CHAPTER 6 (II)
This part will discuss Jamil and Kalim’s respective character development after Chapter 4! I’ll start with Kalim’s.
As depicted in the set of photos directly above this section, one of Kalim’s most prominent realizations is that “he has never achieved anything if it weren’t for Jamil.” For all these years, he never believed that anything should be rightfully his...but at the same time, it never crossed his mind that all the acclaim he’d received happened not because he earned it, but because of who he is.
This realization frustrated him, and this spurred into him doing his best to stand by Jamil as equals. Borrowing my own captioning in Kalim’s TV Tropes page:
He becomes more considerate of others as the main story plods on, and he strives to exert more effort to make up for all the times he “achieved” something despite not deserving it. He is also more likely to take action when he notices something is wrong, thus resulting in his meddling with Vil’s attempt at Neige’s life, unlike before when it’s implied he knew about Jamil’s hardships but didn’t do anything about it until it was too late.
The Kalim that we all see post-Chapter 4 is the Kalim that does his best to be more than what he used to be. This is the version of him that’s trying to become more independent of Jamil, slowly but surely...and while this implies for Jamil’s workload to be lessened, this development turns out to stress out Jamil all the more, as he still can’t trust Kalim to do anything by himself. We’ll get to more on this later.
Jamil’s post-Chapter 4 character development consists of him stepping up for himself more. He no longer lets the social hierarchy stop him from showing his potential---but that fact alone isn’t enough to prove that the mindset he’d always held still doesn’t affect him. Jamil is still in the midst of breaking free from the way he’s been taught to behave...and a part of him still views Kalim as someone he can never overcome.
(Source: Book 5, Episode 5-24, Translations by Shel_Bb)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jamil is a rather contradictory character, as it is often that his wants and his actions differ from one another. For instance: he wants acknowledgment and acclaim, but shies away the moment someone begins to praise him. He says that he knows Kalim is no match for him if it weren’t for his parents, and yet he subconsciously doubts that the sort of charisma Kalim has over their dormmates is something he can’t easily replicate.
When Vil assigns him as one of their group’s lead singers during the Pomefiore arc, Jamil instinctively declines it at first, in favor of Kalim, before stopping himself and accepting it. The beliefs his parents taught him are ingrained in him that deeply, and just as he perceives Kalim as someone who is always above him, he can’t easily overcome this mindset of his, too... At least, not until Leona’s advice.
LEONA’S PERSPECTIVE AND ADVICE
Although the available translations currently haven’t touched on this, the last part of the main story update certainly introduced good development between these unlikely pairs of characters: Leona & Jamil, and Azul & Riddle. This part won’t be as specific as the other sections because I’m just writing this based on what I know, but I hope I still get my point across. Azul and Riddle will have their separate ramble, they’re giving me so much brainrot rn.
(Source: Jamil’s School Uniform R Vignette)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even before their interactions in Chapter 6, Jamil has always been wary of Leona, as the Savanaclaw Dorm Leader was one of the few students who could very easily see through the facade he consistently put up.
This same dynamic applied to their alliance as partners in hunting down the Ice Phantom---with Jamil initially being hesitant over partnering up with him---except that in that current instance, Jamil seemed to be insistent on “protecting” Leona, much to the latter’s chagrin.
Tumblr media
Jamil believed that he had to prioritize Leona’s safety amid this situation because he is the secondborn prince of the Sunset Savannah. This “overprotectiveness” was something Leona found unnecessary, and he didn’t take it well whenever Jamil prioritized his life over his own self. He thought Jamil was making too much of a big deal out of this.
This resulted in many arguments and fights between the two, and...yeah, they fought so much I forgot the exact arrangement for what happened...but, at one point, Jamil winds up in an outburst of emotion, and he laments that no one would ever understand where he’s coming from, anyway. Leona begs to disagree.
Leona says that he gets the gist of Jamil’s situation. He also adds that he knows Jamil is better than he initially let on, and explains precisely what Kalim has that Jamil doesn’t.
“...Charisma?”
“No, he’s got money.”
That conversation above is non-verbatim, by the way, lol.
But what Leona meant to say, as a whole, was that Kalim had money and knew how to use it. Jamil was understandably baffled by this...but on my part, it made me realize how different others’ perspective on Kalim’s actions could be.
As players, we all know Kalim does most of the things he does because he’s a genuinely good person. We have the privilege to get a look-see into their character stories, after all. But to people like Leona, they see it differently.
The renovation at Scarabia, the banquet they held for Crowley, the banquet Kalim held at the cafeteria, Kalim donating his share on the prize money to Ramshackle Dorm... We know and believe that Kalim did this out of the good of his own heart, but Leona sees it as a strategic expense of money.
It betters Kalim’s reputation, it gives chances for establishing useful connections...and many more. Of course, that doesn’t mean those are actually the motives behind what he did. It’s just interesting how others perceive these actions of kindness as something far more strategic, and it really makes one think about how much thought is actually put into every single one of those  monetary decisions, rather than them just being bouts of spontaneity.
As Leona states further on, people like Kalim usually go for their instincts right from the get-go. It might seem foolish, at first, but the conviction Kalim gives in every decision he makes is what what makes up for that said "foolishness."
If he thinks something is useful, then he'll go for it.
If he thinks that saying this is the right thing to say to a certain person, then he'll say it.
If this plan doesn't work out, then he'll just think up something else and try again.
Be it because of years of exposure to his family's business, or the socializing skills he'd gained from hosting banquets and being a people person in general, or the innate kindness that just shines from within him, Kalim, while still unpolished, had always possessed the qualities one would search in a leader. On the other hand, Jamil had been so desperate for independence that he'd made a habit of dealing with things on his own, making him incredibly capable...but also alienating him from his peers. He'd become so used to dealing with things solo that he failed to discover that there's more to being a leader than just being capable: the ability to inspire, convince, and empathize with others, the ability to know when & how to adjust to different kinds of people you'd end up working with, and how to lead them. Jamil has none of that, and he realizes this once Leona calls him out on it.
I have a lot more to say, but the bottomline is that: In Leona’s eyes, Kalim is already making use of his favorable qualities---his charisma, his wealth, etc.---and he’s imploring Jamil to do the same. To find what he’s best at and invest in it, rather than wallow in his closed mindset that’s been ingrained in him since young.
And that’s good advice, made especially more credible with the fact that it came from Leona, someone who understands the complexity of the hierarchy and Jamil’s situation. Jamil is shown to be thankful for this, and he admits that he has viewed Kalim and everyone else to be better than him subconsciously; this led to him holding everyone in contempt, believing that he could do better than them if he just had a chance to show his potential, despite never taking the stand to showcase said potential, anyway. He aims to fix his mindset from now on. And afterwards, Leona... He whispers to himself that Jamil better do that.
Because at the end of the day, he and Jamil are different, and with this, Jamil at least won’t end up like him.
SCARABIA DEVELOPMENT (After two years of waiting, we Scarabia stans have won...)
Okay.
Okay so.
The, uh, the glomp.
Kalim.. about to hire the best doctors to check upJamil..

THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A DECENT ANALYSES POST BUT IM SORRY I AM NOT GOD’S STRONGEST SOLDIER I CANNOT I JUST CANNOT
Tumblr media
AHEM.
Anyway.
Later, Kalim offered to help Jamil cut a tart while they’re at Ramshackle. Jamil told him to just sit there because he’ll take care of it...but then he reconsidered it, and said that he can at least get everyone a dish and a fork.
Such a small act is already so indicative of the development we’ve longed for years to see...and I think it’s pretty self-explanatory at this point how important it is that Jamil is now willing to accept Kalim’s help. He's acknowledged that shouldering all the burden by himself won't do him any good, and that by opening himself up to others, he can be able to discover more chances to heighten his potential. It’s a small step. It’s such a small step, and yet it matters oh so much. They’re learning to have a healthier relationship, bit by bit :”)))

Yuu Fairy Gala R Vignette - A Lovely Gift
Tumblr media
Leona, Kalim, and Jamil were doing their training with Vil, as hard as they could. Watching them getting scolded over and over by both Vil Schoenheit and Professor Crewel, Yuu started to feel bad, and decided to go out for some fresh air.
Currently, the human boy was wearing his fashion uniform. White shirt, pants, and shoes, adorned with golden colored and flower shaped embroideries. His dark blueish hair was combed, the two long sections on both sides were curled at the end, and his left side bangs were put behind his ears then clipped with a transparent golden butterfly hair clip.
Yuu was walking and walking, away from the Pomefiore dorm, and reaching for the magic mirror. He was then transported back to the school, in the Hall of Mirrors. Since it was already evening, not many students would be around the campus. Yuu took this chance to take a stroll on the Main Street.
Yuu looked at the Great Seven statues and then sighed, as he leaned on the Witch of Thorns statue. ‘Wearing this kinda fancy outfit makes me feel out of place… Thank goodness I’m not the one who’s gonna perform on the runway…’ Feeling relieved and relaxed, Yuu then remembered something crucial about his outfit, ‘Now that I think about it… Crewel-sensei mentioned that this uniform isn’t completed yet, unlike Leona’s and the other’s.’
“Hmm….. Crewel-sensei said that he still needs time to figure out how my scraf’s gonna look…” Yuu then sighed heavily, “How troublesome… I don’t have any sense of fashion, so I can’t be much of a help…” His eyebrows frowned deeply in thoughts, then Yuu didn’t notice someone was walking toward him.
“What’s troubling you, Child of Man?”
“HYAH!!” Yuu yelped, and jumped forward, almost falling into the ground. Turning around, he saw a tall man in black, and had two black horns, his eyes piercing green. “Tsu-Tsunotarou!?” Yuu exclaimed loudly. Tsunotarou then chuckled, amused to see Yuu’s reaction, “Ku fu fu. Finally feeling afraid of me now, Child of Man?” he smirked, and it seemed he was having fun scaring the non-magic off. Yuu shook his head in disbelief, “Well… You sure did scare me by creeping up to me from behind!”
Yuu then exhaled a sigh, “Couldn't you just greet me normally? Like from a reasonable distance…” Tsunotarou huffed in return, “Now, if I did that, I would not be able to see your interesting reaction. Ku fu fu fu~ How adorable,” he said as he chuckled more and more. “Geez… You really Love making fun of me, huh…” Yuu pouted in return.
“By the way, I thought you would be in your dorm at this hour. What’s up? Are you going on a stroll?” Yuu asked, tilting his head a little. “That’s right. Usually I take a stroll around night time… However, due to these troubling seasonal changes, I've decided to take a look around campus to see what changed and what not,” Tsunotarou explained his reasons. “And what about you, Child of Man? What’s with that getup?” Tsunotarou looked down and up at Yuu, examining his new clothes. “Haah… The headmaster ‘asked’ me and Grimm to lend a hand for the ‘Steal the Crown! Mission!’. I heard if we don’t succeed in this mission thing, we will have to be held back for a year… That bird masked is freaking corrupt…” Yuu gritted his teeth in annoyance, wanting to punch his principal so badly that he couldn’t care if he got a heavy punishment.
“I see. But I think there is training going on for the mission, yes?” “Oh, that? I’m not a part of the Runway Group. Leona, Kalim-senpai and Jamil-senpai are the ones tackling that,” Yuu smiled. “Kingscholar did?” Tsunotarou asked with a surprised look, then he smiled, “Now that is quite something. I didn't expect him to take the role so easily.” “Oh… Well, he was confident that he could walk on a runway… But when he tried to walk…” Yuu remembered when Leona got severely scolded by Vil, “... Let's just say it was… Interesting.” “Fu. Saying it like that, it must have been a sight for sure. I wish I could have witnessed it as well,” Tsunotarou smirked.
“However, you are still looking troubled, Child of Man.” “Well… Crewel-sensei said that my outfit is still missing something… Like my scarf and all…” Yuu sighed, feeling the dilemma stirring up, “I don’t really know much about fashion so I can’t do much. That’s one of the reasons why I go out here. Maybe I could pick something that could inspire Crewel-sensei…”
“I see… Hm? That golden flower…” Yuu noticed Tsunotarou was looking at the flower embroidery on his shirt, “Oh? What’s up with it?” “Hmm… Lucky you, Child of Man. For I might have found something that could help you,” Tsunotarou smiled mysteriously, making Yuu looked at him with sheer curiosity. The horned man reached his right hand to the front, and with a ‘Ting’ of light, Tsunotarou had in his hand a golden flower that shone brightly and had purple color in it. “Woah! That….” Yuu was speechless. Before him was that golden flower from That movie!
“This is called ‘Flower of Sun’,” Tsunotarou smiled, as he started to explain the thing in his hand, “In the long past, there was only one known Flower of Sun. It had the power to heal any injuries, any illness, and even prevent aging. There was a legend of a witch who used to sing for this flower, and gave her youth for almost 400 years.” “400 years-!?” Yuu gasped, shocked to hear how old this witch was. Though, deep down he knew who this witch was. ‘No wonder that Mother Gothel turned into dust in the end…’
“However, as there was only one known Flower of Sun, humans dug it up and used it for medicine for a country's queen who was ill during her pregnancy. Hmph, what a waste. To dig up one powerful flower only to be used one time as a healing potion,” Tsunotarou grumbled, perhaps he was unhappy that humans would use the flower to cure one person. “Uuh well, it couldn't be helped, right? Maybe in the past, human’s medicinal technology wasn’t that advanced…” Yuu reasoned with him. ‘Maybe it was also due to her being pregnant that the doctors weren't brave enough to prescribe her with anything…’
“So then, what’s that flower there?” Yuu pointed at the golden flower. “This is a fake flower, a replica of the supposed Flower of Sun. Lilia gave this to me as a souvenir from one of his travels a long time ago.” “Heeh~... It really is beautiful. Maybe Crewel-sensei’s inspiration will spark when he sees this…” Smiling that he finally found the answer for his dilemma, Yuu then asked Tsunotarou, “Hey Tsunotarou, could you let me borrow that flower for a bit? I promise I’ll return it once I show this to Crewel-sensei!”
Chuckling in return, Tsunotarou said with a playful smirk, “Borrow, you say? Now then, I wonder if I should lend you this precious souvenir~” “Eeeehh!? Weren't you the one that showed it to me!? If it is a precious thing, you wouldn't show it so easily to someone else,” Yuu pouted again. “Ku fu fu. It was merely a joke. I suppose that’s enough teasing from me.”
“Give me your hand.” “...?” Yuu gave Tsunotarou his right hand, and the tall man wrapped the fake flower’s stem around Yuu’s middle finger. The flower sat radiantly on the human’s hand, until Yuu gasped in realization, “Eh-!? Wait a sec! Didn’t you say that this is a precious souvenir!? I can’t take it!!”
“Let’s just say that this is a gift from me,” Tsunotarou stated back. “Now then, I shall take my leave.” “Wait a seco-!!” And in one second, Tsunotarou vanished into the green lights, leaving Yuu flabbergasted. The human boy shook his head in disbelief, but he couldn’t do anything now. Looking at the fake Flower of Sun, Yuu shrugged and went back to the Pomefiore dorm. Maybe this will give Crewel-sensei a push in his inspirational journey…
And lo and behold, it did. Crewel sewed a new scarf for Yuu with a butterfly motif on it. Crewel saw that Yuu was suited with the Butterfly and Flower Relationship theme. “Thank goodness that it worked in the end,” Crewel sighed with relief. “If it weren't for that flower ornament you have there, your outfit might look unbalanced if I give you a butterfly scarf first.” “Is that so?” Yuu was relieved as well.
Perhaps in the next few days after this whole incident was over, Yuu should thank Tsunotarou for giving him a very precious gift.

“It’s Not Easy Being Queen” ~ Sidonie’s Dorm Uniform Vignette (1/3)
Tumblr media
“Upon this noble rose I swear to devote myself to the pursuit of true beauty.”
In the aftermath brought on by the cultural festival, Sidonie finds herself more at odds with her dorm leaders than ever before. But when a sudden crisis leaves Pomefiore completely without leadership, will Sidonie be able to step up and finally find her place within her dorm?
Set during the events of Book 6.
~~~
Tumblr media
Thirty minutes before the charrons infiltrate the school...
Sidonie: Good morning, Danica. You’re up early.
Danica: Yes, Vil-san said he wanted me to join him and Rook for a meeting at Ramshackle.
Sidonie: …
Danica: I’m guessing it’s regarding the VDC, the festival is over but perhaps now Vil-san has come to his senses. Where is he?
Sidonie: …
Danica: Sidonie-san?
Sidonie: Danica…Vil has already left for Ramshackle. In fact, he and Rook left about an hour ago.
Danica: An hour ago?! But…I thought we were meeting at nine on the dot! That’s what Vil-san told me so why…
Sidonie: …
Danica: Wait…did…they leave without me on purpose??
Sidonie: *sighs* I don’t want to make assumptions but…
Danica: But what? Did…you know?!
Sidonie: I’m sorry, I didn’t realize…
Danica: But last night Vil-san told me he had something very important to tell me. Why would he change his mind without telling me?
Sidonie: I couldn’t say, my dear. I’m…as confused as you are. *sees Danica’s saddened face* But you can always ask him when they get back.
Danica: *sighs* I guess…
Sidonie: But in the meantime, I’m about to head over to Hearslabyul. How would you like to join me to collect some roses? I know you have a few girlfriends in that dorm too.
Danica: Yeah…I could stand to leave the dorm for a little while. Sure I’ll come with you, Sidonie-san.
Sidonie: Great! Let’s be on our way.
~~~
Tumblr media
Sidonie: *standing with Danica* That’s odd, I called ahead and Trey said he’d meet us here. It’s been almost fifteen minutes but feel odd just going in without someone knowing we’re here.
Danica: Maybe call Riddle? He’s usually here around this time so maybe…
???: He is not here. And neither should you.
Danica: …?!
*A tall male Heartslabyul student approaches them. Danica appears alarmed but Sidonie smiles*
Sidonie: Oh, hello. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
???: Indeed it has. *to Danica* And who are you? A freshman I presume?
Danica: Uh…yes, but don’t you think you should first tell me you you are first?
???: And why should I do that?
Danica: …
Sidonie: *laughing* Danica, this is Sinclair Halophor, a third year. He’s in the science club with me. Sinclair, this is my protégée Danica.
Sinclair: I see, well Miss Danica is certainly in good hands. Though I admit I’m surprised to see you two here. What brings you to Heartslabyul?
Sidonie: We’re here to collect some roses, but on that note, have you seen Riddle yet today? Or maybe Trey?
Sinclair: Trey just left out, which is why I said you two shouldn’t be here.
Sidonie: Hmm? What do you mean by…
 *before she can finish her sentence, her and Danica’s phones go off in unison*
Sinclair: You should maybe check that.
*Sidonie picks up her phone and her eyes go wide as she reads aloud a message from Professor Trein*
Sidonie: “Effective immediately, Night Raven College is under a state of emergency and I am currently acting as headmage with the sudden absence of Dire Crowley. Students are highly advised shelter in place at their respective dorms.”
Danica: I got that message too! What happened? Sinclair-senpai, do you know?
Sinclair: I do not know. Only that Trey was summoned to the Mirror Chamber not too long ago. And I overheard some of the others talking about explosions being heard over by Ramshackle dorm. But weather or not both events are related, who can say?
Danica: Explosions…over by…*gasps*
Sidonie: Danica…
Danica: Vil-san is over there! So are Epel, Kalim and Yuulan!
Sidonie: And Rook too, and Jamil.
Sinclair: Indeed, two of my dorm’s freshmen were on their way to Ramshackle as well. It is concerning to say the least.
Danica: Sidonie-san! We have to go back to Pomefiore now!
Sidonie: Yes, I agree. We can collect roses another time. *to Sinclair* Let me know what Trey says when he comes back.
Sinclair: If he comes back.
*Sidonie turns back to look at him curiously, he looks at her in a way she can’t decipher right away*
Sidonie: Sinclair, what did you mean by…
Sinclair: We shall talk later. *smiling* Best hurry back to Pomefiore, Sidonie.
~~~
Tumblr media
*When Sidonie and Danica return to the dorm, they find Rook, Maximilian, Farron and a bunch of other students crowded in the lounge, many sound worried*
Maximilian: Floyd and I saw them! They were hella scary, like out of some dystopian film! And they took Leona, he didn’t even put up a fight!
Pomefiore Student A: What?! That IS scary!
Pomefiore Student B: Rook-san! You said you were there! Why didn’t you stop them?!
Pomefiore Student C: But why would they take the dorm leaders?!
Farron: Everyone, please! I know we’re all scared but we mustn’t panic!
Sidonie: Farron! We’re back!
Farron: Thank goodness, I was beginning to worry. The headmage disappeared and Professor Trein is now in charge of the school.
Danica: What happened?! We heard there was…
*Danica catches sight of Rook and goes silent, he folds his arms in silence*
Sidonie: Rook-san, what happened at Ramshackle? We heard there was an explosion, and with what Maxim just shared with us…
Rook: It appears there were similar incidents all over the school.
Farron: Yes, Cater just told me. Over at the stables, Riddle was taken by a group of strange robotic creatures. They called themselves “charrons” and were extremely violent with powerful magic. Apparently Leona, Azul and Idia were taken by the same group.
Sidonie: Merciful Sevens…that’s more than half of our dorm leaders…
Danica: But what about…
Farron: …
Danica: What about Vil-san?
Farron: …
Sidonie: And Kalim and Jamil?
Farron: I…Rook, I think you should tell them, after all you were there.
Rook: The charrons stormed Ramshackle dorm and left completely decimated. We tried fighting them off but were unsuccessful.
Sidonie: But…does that mean…?
Rook: *sighs* And it the wake, our beloved dorm leader, ur beautiful Vil, was taken hostage. Along with Jamil.
Danica: No…no…*she becomes pale and short of breath*
Sidonie: Jamil too?! What’s happening?! Why…
Danica: VIL!!!!
Farron: Danica! *Danica collapses and he catches her in his arms as she begins sobbing*
Sidonie: …
Pomefiore Student A: So what does that mean for us?!
Maximilian: We have no dorm leader and our headmage has gone MIA!
Pomefiore Student B: What’s going to happen to Vil?!
*the Pomefiore students begin panicking again but Sidonie loudly claps her hands*
Sidonie: That’s enough! Everyone! *the room goes silent* You are all forgetting that each dorm has not one dorm leader but two! What happened to Vil is scary but as Farron said before, we mustn’t panic! Not until we have further information!
Rook: Oui, now, the first thing Professor Trein instructed of us was to take a roll call of all our students. Madame Etheree, care to assist me?
(...)
Sidonie: Wait, Epel isn’t here. All are accounted for except for him!
Rook: Worry not for Monsieur Crabapple, I personally escorted him to the infirmary after the charrons departed. He is safe.
Danica: …
Sidonie: *sighs with relief* That’s good, I guess that’s all we can do for now until Professor Trein tells us more.
Danica: I hope…Vil-san will be alright.
Sidonie: I know you’re worried, dear. But please try not to fret, not untl we know for sure what is happening.
Danica: I know, it’s just…I’m so scared. Especially because I was supposed to be at that meeting!
Rook: …
Danica: What could have happened to him?! Maybe if we had met up earlier, like we initially planned…
Rook: …
Danica: …then this wouldn't have happened!
Farron: We can’t say that with any certainty, Cygnet.
Danica: I know that, but…but…
Rook: Everyone please return to your rooms for the time being, we will gather again here this evening. *Danica sighs and leaves the lounge along with the other students, as they leave, Rook turns to Sidonie* Madame Etheree, a word, s’il vous plait?
Sidonie: Of course, there’s something I wanted to ask you anyway. Let’s go into the hallway.
~~~
Tumblr media
Sidonie: Rook, why did you and Vil go to Ramshackle without Danica? Did either of you know this was going to happen?
Rook: Certainly not! We were as taken aback by the charrons as everyone else! Why would you ask such a thing?
Sidonie: No, I’m sorry. That was a silly question. It’s just when you told me this morning that you two were leaving without her, it left me very perplexed. And needless to say she was very upset.
Rook: I understand, but this sudden crisis has nothing to do with that. The truth was, we planned to meet at eight o clock all along. Vil deliberately gave her the incorrect meeting time.
Sidonie: What?! But why…?
Rook: Danica’s feelings regarding the VDC are still extremely volatile. I…I mean, Vil didn’t want her opposition to cause further strife with the other NRC Tribe members.
Sidonie: So you both lied to her? Why not just tell her the truth?
Rook: Sidonie…
Sidonie: And what do you mean by volatile? You both broke her heart in more ways than one! Why shouldn’t she be upset?
Rook: It was a difficult decision but sometimes being a dorm leader requires making tough decisions, even for vice dorm leaders. It was bad enough that Danica went ahead and told other Pomefiore students about what happened.
Sidonie: …
Rook: Vil couldn’t allow for her to cause more dissent and now that the VDC has concluded, would it not be better for us all that harmony be restored to the dorm?
Sidonie: But what kind of harmony is built on lies? I’m sorry but if I was…I mean…I’m not sure I would do the same thing if I were in Vil’s place.
Rook: And that brings me to my next point.
Sidonie: Hmm?
Rook: I was very impressed with the level of initiative you took out in the lounge. The way you call everyone to attention and assisted me with the roll call. With all that in mind, I have decided to entrust you with a massive responsibility in this current crisis.
Sidonie: What do you mean?
Rook: Pomefiore requires leadership now, more than ever. Come what may, we cannot allow our beautiful dorm to fall into anarchy and chaos.
Sidonie: Yes, I agree. Which is why I am thankful the charrons did not take you as well.
Rook: …
Sidonie: I will try my best to help you out as best as I can.
Rook: But you see, madame, that’s just it. I will unfortunately not be here to help you.
Sidonie: HUH?!
Rook: When Vil was taken, I came to a horrific realization! He wasn’t carrying any of his skin products! And with his magazine cover shoot next week…
Sidonie: EXCUSE ME?!
Rook: As one who’s devoted his life to the pursuit and defense of beauty, I cannot allow this! I must go to the Isle of Woe!
Sidonie: WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?! You can’t just leave Pomefiore unsupervised!
Rook: *smiling* Ah but I’m not, I am leaving Pomefiore in very capable hands! And in her care, I can search for Vil in full confidence that all will be well here.
Sidonie: Capable…hands? YOU MEAN?!
Rook: Sidonie Lilyth, starting now until Vil is safely returned to NRC, you shall be dorm leader of Pomefiore and handle all matters here in my place.
Sidonie: !!!
Rook: From the moment you set foot in this dorm over a year ago, you have proven yourself time and again as a radiant and tenacious deciple of the teachings of the Fairest Queen. And in the last few months, you have grown greater still.
Sidonie: Rook…
Rook: The way you have guided Danica and the way you set the example for Epel and the other freshmen. I would not think to leave Pomefiore to anyone else but you.
Sidonie: Your flattery touches me, really. But please think for a moment!
Rook: Oh, I have put much thought into this, madame. And it may come as a surprise to you that your name has come up on more than one occasion when Vil and I discuss our potential successors once we graduate.
Sidonie: I…really? *she smiles briefly but then shakes her head* I mean…that’s nice to know but right now, don’t you think it would be unwise to leave Pomefiore in the hands of someone like me? Do you really think… *she pauses for a moment*
Rook: Madame?
Sidonie: I…How long would I have to do this? And do you think it will take for you to find the Isle of Woe? And find Vil?
Rook: Unfortunately, I cannot say with any certainty, but alas, the longer I stay here, the more time slips away. I must depart now, while the sky is still alight with day.
Sidonie: *sighs*  I know there is nothing I can say to convince you otherwise, but what I will say is that I really hope you know what you’re doing.
Rook: *smiling* Fear not, cherie. I shall return, at the side of our beloved dorm leader once more! And with that, I bid you adieu!
*Rook runs off, leaving Sidonie alone in the hallway*
Sidonie: Well, this was NOT how I expected today to go, so much happening in such a small window of time. *looks around her* It’s still relatively early so I guess I have a little time to consider what I will say at this evening’s meeting. I guess the first thing I should do is…
*sound of footsteps rushing towards her*
Farron: Sidonie! I’m glad I’ve found you! We have a big problem!
Sidonie: Oh good, Farron. Just the person I was about to find. And if by problem you mean Rook leaving us, I already know. He’s…
Farron: Yes I know about that, but Rook leaving Pomefiore isn’t what I mean! It’s Danica! She…she…
Sidonie: She what? Tell me, Farron! Spit it out!
Farron: She’s following Rook to the Isle of Woe!
Sidonie: !!!

I was reading through Kalim's SSR Dorm Uniform's vignette and the first person I see is Crowley. The hell is this.
The Vignette is so cute but I'm here to talk about Crowley. Kalim is the best Housewarden, hands down. I love Scarabia.
I think it's really cute how Dire has a one track mind about vacations, to the point that he has brochures on him all the time, and that he's constantly thinking of where to go next. Well, travelling is his hobby, and you really see just how happy and invested he is when it comes to looking for his next travel destination. I wish he was as invested in school issues, but alas, we'll get there at some point. And he plans it so well that he does all the research that can be had to make sure his trip goes smoothly.
Since his hobby is pretty lucrative, I do think that he tends to be extra careful in making sure that he'll thoroughly enjoy his trip. Like in the vignette, I'd like to think Jamil is right, because he's the more speculative one Crowley was looking into going on a vacation with the Land of Scalding sands as his destination. HOWEVER, he's someone who simply cannot handle spicy food, so he's having doubts about whether he should go or not. Coincidentally he drops his brochure and Kalim just happens to be there. Coincidence? I feel like it's planned. The fact there's someone there from the place that could give him just the information that he needs? I feel like Crowley would use Kalim to his advantage. Why not, right? He uses MC to his advantage all the time. The approach just depends per person. And since Kalim is very nice and generous. It's easier to get what he wants out of him compared to let's say, having Grim and MC do things for him. He literally has to bribe them majority of the time.
Eitherway, the Land of Scalding Sands is on his vacation bucket now. xD

Do we know exactly why yuu is called 'trickster'? Pretty dumb question ik I actually don't know if this has been answered alread
Tumblr media
The nicknames in TWST are not usually explained. The main exceptions I can think of are “Monsieur Dent-de-Lion” for Ruggie in book 5, “Baby Seal” for Grim in book 4, “Goldfish” for Riddle in Floyd’s School Uniform vignette, and “Crabby” for Ace in the second volume of the light novel. We have to draw on assumptions for basically the rest of them. I’m guessing that “Trickster” is meant to allude to Yuu’s implied strategic nature despite passing off as plain and unassuming by appearance alone.
I believe the closest we get to learning the origins of Yuu’s nickname is in the first Happy Beans Day event; in it, Yuu is part of a ploy to trick the Monster/Beast team in order to seize the golden harp the other team is protecting. However, Rook is calling them Trickster long before the final deception is revealed in chapter 13, in which he remarks that Yuu is truly deserving of the nickname.
The issue I have with it is that I think Yuu has done very little to maintain it 💦 Sometimes Yuu has flashes of intelligence (like realizing that the contracts aren’t invincible). However, outside of the prologue (guiding Grim on where to shoot fire and formulating a plan to take out the OB In the mines) and maybe that small segment in Happy Beans Day (though most of the plan was Jade’s), we rarely ever see Yuu being that much of a tactician or trickster. Rather, they are often strung along on other people’s plans or doing minor or coincidental things (like making noise to prevent Leona from sleeping/stealing the magic carpet and crashing into Octavinelle) to push the narrative along while letting other characters do the Big Brain work for them (it was Leona and/or Azul who actively orchestrated the plots). I guess the argument could be made that maybe Yuu helps in tricking others (Endless Halloween Night, distracting Jamil with board games while Kalim is interrogated in book 4), but it doesn’t come off as a particularly strong or defining trait of theirs if several other characters also engage in the same acts (Floyd, Azul, Malleus, Lilia, etc.) or Yuu had little involvement in planning the deception.
I just think it’s a wasted opportunity to give Yuu such a cool nickname but then never fully commit to showing us why Yuu has “earned” that title. I guess it implies that Rook, who is an observant character, sees more in Yuu than being generically nice or cheering about friendship. However, it rings… somewhat hollow if characters are just saying Yuu is smart (Leona + a few others also have lines that express similar sentiments) or telling Yuu what to do without Yuu actually doing anything smart or actually planning a ploy themselves 😭 It’s “telling” us what Yuu is rather than “showing” us. This is likely done for the self-insert aspect of TWST/to make players feel important, but I don’t think it’s good from an actual writing standpoint.

This may be an out-there one but stick with me for a sec! I remember Leona going off to Jamil about how Kalim’s best asset is that he’s friendly and he knows how to use that to sway people whether he knows it or not. With that in mind, may we see Kalim’s magical charms work on Maleficia?
Consider this interaction as a part 2 to this one! They just happen to flow together really well.
P.S. For no reason at all, you should totally go read Jade's School Uniform vignette :))
Family means Nobody is Left Behind or Forgotten.
Tumblr media
A single spot of sunshine lit up all of Diasomnia's dank, gloomy lounge.
Kalim, a gargantuan smile plastered on his face, was seated at a table, playfully swinging his legs back and forth. He had with him a portable stove and a tea set, both ridiculously fine and expensive. His friend Silver would soon be there, and the two would delight in sharing an afternoon snack and catching up on one another's lives.
I wonder when he’ll get here! Kalim thought, angling his head toward the doors that spilled into the room. He said he was meeting up with his dad first, so maybe they’ll come together?
From a corridor came faint voices, low and calm, like lost souls afraid to startle their own shadows. The shapes of two people extended along a stony wall, green candlelight haloing them as they approached. Their forms steadily grew larger and larger until they had, at last, consumed all light.
"Silver?" Kalim called as he hopped out of his chair.
A pair entered the lounge, chasing away the sun in favor of the stars. Cloaked in black and pale-faced, inhuman horns protruding from their heads, they heralded in the night and bad dreams like the monsters from under one’s bed.
Kalim greeted them with cheer anyway.
“It’s you, Malleus!! You’re with your family today, huh?” he cried out, excitedly waving at the duo. “Didn’t think I’d run into you today. Usually you’re so hard to find for meetings!"
“Asim. I had not expected to encounter you myself.” The corner of the prince's mouth lifted into a slight smirk. "Perhaps you've not looked hard enough."
"Gahahah! I'll try harder next time then!"
“Who might this be, Malleus?”
“Excuse me.” His eyes slid to the woman beside him as gestured toward Kalim. “Grandmother, I give you Kalim Al-Asim, a fellow dorm leader. Asim, my grandmother, and current queen of Briar Valley.”
“Your grandma?!” Kalim’s exclamation echoed off the cavernous walls. There was no effort to conceal his shock, not in tone nor in face. “Whoa, I never would have known…! I thought she was your sister or something! You look a lot alike.”
Maleficia chuckled darkly. “We fae mature quite differently than humans. Our true age rarely shows.”
“So you look a lot younger than you actually are? That’s so cool!” Kalim laughed, oblivious to his own brashness as he ran his mouth. “There’s someone in my year level that’s kind of like that too. Have you met Riddle? He looks small but he’s actually super smart and responsible! I really look up to him!”
Maleficia nodded as she patiently listened in.
Next to her, Malleus slowly surveyed the room, then allowed his gaze to drift back to Kalim. “If I may ask, where have your own relatives, Asim? Were they not to accompany you today?"
“Oh, that!! Only dad could make it this year.He had to take an important business call, so he said go hang out with some friends and he’ll catch up with me later!”
Kalim indicated the canister beside his tea making supplies. “He brought back a new blend from one of his trading partners. It’s a rare tea made with petals and buds from the Queendom of Roses and Briar Valley. That’s where Silver’s from, so I wanted to share it with him!”
“A tea made in part with plants from the Briar Valley, you say…” Malleus cradled his chin in one hand. “Most intriguing. Our kingdom is a small, isolated one. It is not often that our culture is able to merge with that of another."
“The Queendom of Roses is the country east of our continent,” Maleficia said sagely. "It is not only known for its roses, but all kinds of flowers that blossom in the springtime. Being that our Briar Valley is more northward, our flora tends to be much hardier than that of the Queendom."
"That means your flowers and theirs are different somehow, right? It's neat how someone thought to bring roses from two completely different places together!" Kalim grinned widely. "It's like going to a feast where each guest brings a dish from their culture so everyone can have a taste of where they come from.”
Maleficia stared at the young man, her expression indiscernable.
“Oh yeah, if you guys are interested in it, you can try some!” Kalim offered.
Malleus cocked his head. "I believe you stated that your intention was to share the tea with Silver?"
"Don't be shy! It's my treat, and there's plenty to go around! I'll go and brew it. Take a seat while you wait!"
“Hmm, if you are offering… I suppose it would be rude of us to refuse your thoughtful invitation. Grandmother?”
“No objections.”
The Draconias slunk to the table and sat, their lithe forms melded with the quilted leather chairs. They looked right at home with their refined posture, commanding the lounge from their thrones without so much as lifting a finger.
Kalim appeared like nothing more than an attendant in the powerful presence of royalty, buzzing about and fiddling with various tools as he set to making the tea.
Removing the lid off of his kettle, he poured in enough water to fill most of the vessel up. Kalim set it upon the portable stove and cranked the heat up. A soft electric hum started, and the flat disc upon which the kettle sat slowly warmed.
“What a strange device," Malleus mused, his brows creasing at the various dials and settings on the stove. "Would it not be more efficient to prepare the tea with magic? A single puff of fire breath would also suffice to hasten the tea."
"Probably! But you two are my guests. It's my job to feed you and make sure you're enjoying yourselves! This is my way of doing that."
As he talked, Kalim kept his hands in motion. He popped the cap off of his cannister, scooping out unassuming mounds of dried leaves and flowers and letting them fall into each teacup. First, the queen's, then Malleus's, and himself last.
"In my home country, guests are always served before the host. It's to welcome people into our homes. 'You're my friend, and I respect you. I want to honor you with food and drink, to treat you like you're a member of my family.' That's the feeling behind it!"
“I see. So this is the hospitality that comes specifically from the Scalding Sands.” A small smile formed on Malleus’s lips. “I do recall similar kindness from my trip to Silk City. The people of the Scalding Sands are very friendly and warm, much like the sun.”
“The times have certainly changed,” Maleficia remarked. “Back in my day, the children of man were not quite so open-minded. To invite fae to any gathering was to invite danger—such was the common sentiment.”
“Ahhh, that’s too bad. Being left out of a party never feels good!” Kalim let a rare frown appear. “I guess I never realized how lucky I am to live in a time where all kinds of people can be friends.”
The kettle rattled on the stove, a high-pitched whistle erupting from its spout. He swiftly removed it by the handle, and set to pouring hot clear liquid into Maleficia’s cup, then Malleus’s, and his own. Curtains of steam rose up, hiding his features as he chewed on his thoughts.
“Silk City wasn’t always as big as it is now,” Kalim finally said. “My ancestors found a way to use the waterways for trade. It connected us to new information, goods, and people. Then over time, the population grew into the big community we know today.
“Things changed a lot! I’m thankful that they did, because that means all of us can experience so much more together, like this tea. The world really opened up to us.”
The leaves and rosebuds started to unfurl, their colors and flavors seeping into the hot water. A subtly sweet, mellow scent wafted up, filling the lounge with a flowery perfume.
“Indeed, it has.” Maleficia agreed. “Our Briar Valley is set in its ways, yet the world around it seems to constantly shift. I did not think I would live to see the day a child of man so fearlessly entertains me for tea myself—but here we are, fae and human, on equal terms.”
She reached over and squeezed Malleus’s hand. He laid another over hers and smiled back. There was something sad and haunting in their eyes, a mutual understanding of something far darker than their words would allow.
“Yeah, it’s great that we can do stuff like this without worrying anymore! Speaking of, I think the tea’s about done brewing. One last final touch…”
Kalim picked up his entire sugar pot and inverted it over Maleficia’s cup. Several cubes tumbled out and splashed into the beverage. The typically composed queen startled at the sugar and tea concoction (especially when Kalim produced another sugar pot and proceeded to do the same to Malleus’s cup).
“Is this… customary?” Maleficia carefully inquired.
“No, we’d usually add more! Luxurious tea is sweet tea!!” Kalim responded, totally oblivious to her shock. “I thought I’d just be serving Silver today though, so I bought way less sugar than I usually do. I hope it’s still to your liking though!”
“Ah, this style of tea would be the same kind I was served in Silk City. The… exceedingly sweet kind,” Malleus said warily. He spoke no more, but the warning had already made itself evident.
“… I understand. This dish is an integral part of your culture.” Maleficia lifted her cup with the grace and elegance befitting of a queen. “I shall partake in your saccharine fare… Asim, was it?”
“Yup, that’s me! Kalim Al-Asim.”
“Fufu. I will remember your name and face, Kalim Al-Asim. Of that, you can be certain. After all, I had the opportunity to hear many interesting things from you. It would not do to forget such an important individual—and a beloved companion to my Malleus.”
She swallowed her overly sugared tea without flinching. It was strong, peppered with floral notes—two adjacent springtimes at the same threshold. To one side, the Queendom with a sweet medley of rainbow flowers clustered around its roses. To the other, the once great Briar Country, its rosen blooms shrouded by bitter bramble.
So different, yet still meeting in the middle. Humans and fae, reconciling under the same sun.
“How is it?”
Maleficia slowly lowered the cup from her lips. They ached from the sugar in a single sip, yet she was satisfied all the same.
“It was delicious.”

Silver Info Compilation part 4: Appearance and Emotions
Like most of the characters Silver is often dressed in layers, but based upon his PE uniform illustration it seems he is meant to be very well-muscled (this might be kind of difficult to put across in his in-game sprites?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
According to other characters he is also extremely attractive, with Vil complimenting his “auroral eyes”, “strong nose” and “perfectly formed lips”, recruiting him into a Film Club project based on his facial features alone.
Silver’s magical pen is too large to fit into the jacket pocket of his uniform where most of the other students carry theirs, so he keeps it on a belt.
Vil gifts Silver with a hair care kit in thanks for his participation, but Silver says that now that he has used it all up, his routine is to simply wash himself from head to toe with the same soap as he is “sure it’s sufficient”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silver says that he sometimes cuts his hair himself but sometimes Lilia or his friends cut it for him. Silver has many lines about his lack of interest in clothes or grooming. It seems that the other people at the school have difficulty telling when he is or isn’t smiling.
From the Game Guide: “When he does smile—which is rarely—it is a gentle expression. Lilia sees him smile quite often. He usually hides when he is shocked so that others cannot tell he has been caught off guard, but he does get surprised."
Tumblr media
Silver's dorm vignette is based around his inability to portray his emotions through his facial expressions, with students in his class gossiping about how they can never tell if he is angry or happy, which he overhears.
Silver enlists Kalim in teaching him how to show his emotions on his face (and Kalim brings Jamil), which Sebek interrupts. Silver and Sebek go to the courtyard to practice swordplay together, where the students from Silver's class overheard Lilia and Malleus discussing how Silver always looks so expressive during his training (particularly when Sebek does well) because Silver is a person who takes joy in the successes of others, adapting to the happiness and sadness of those around him.
Lilia says he hides passionate emotions beneath a poker face, and Malleus says that it's more like Silver just can't express those emotion on his face. Lilia says that he has no problem understanding how Silver is feeling based on his facial expressions.
The eavesdropping students tell Silver he looked cool during practice and they could see his passion. Sebek reveals he asked Silver to practice with him in the courtyard specifically so that they could show to those students that they are wrong about Silver's ability to show emotion, and Silver realizes he doesn't need to change himself after all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silver is often apologizing to everyone around him from Malleus to nameless ghosts and everyone in between, sometimes on Sebek’s behalf but most often simply for causing problems for others or for falling asleep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silver refers to younger students and his fellow second-year students by their first names with no honorifics, while the third-year students he refers to as first-name-senpai. He refers to Lilia as “Lilia-senpai” in front of others and calls him “Father” when they are alone.
The only character he refers to with a unique honorific is Malleus, whom he refers to as either “Malleus-sama” or waka-sama for young prince / lord / liege /etc. (This is an interesting contrast to Sebek who also refers to Malleus as Malleus-sama, but also to Lilia as Lilia-sama, not hiding his association with Lilia like Silver does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The honorific that Silver uses for “father” is “father-dono”, which is not an honorific that is used in normal conversation.
According to Yana the original plan was for Silver to refer to Lilia as father-sama, but the repetition of “malleus-sama / waka-sama / father-sama” was too much, so she changed it to the historical drama, warrior-character-type word, “father-dono” instead.

they did it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOL they did the thing anime kuuderes do in Silver’s Dorm Uniform vignettes… where the character practices smiling (with Scarabia) but fails at it when they consciously put forth effort to improve 🥲 only for them to smile naturally and unconsciously when they’re spending time with the people they care for (exercising with Sebek in the courtyard and smiling at how much his underclassman has improved). Aaaaaah, and Malleus and Lilia are watching them like proud parents 🥹
I normally don’t really comment when new vignettes drop, but I really liked how Silver’s highlights his friendship with Sebek and demonstrates that Sebek does indeed have a place in the Diasomnia found family and can be a supportive friend to Silver (albeit in his own extremely loud and insistent manner).
I often see people claim Sebek has no personality outside of being loud/arrogant/demanding and basically obsessing over Malleus but 🥲 it’s moments like these where his heart comes out and you can see he cares about others (but just fails to express it in what many would consider a “normal” way). When Sebek sees Silver being upset with his inability to smile, he tries to encourage Silver by telling him that he shouldn’t care what other humans think of him (yes, there is Sebek’s usual Sebek-ness seeping through his words, but the sentiment is still there). He values Silver’s worth as an individual and doesn’t believe that what others say about him should have an impact on his own confidence or how he behaves. But when that talking doesn’t work, Sebek goes out of his way to suggest they do their usual training in a very public location (the school courtyard), which attracts the attention of passing students who stop and watch them. It is through observing Silver in a state in which he is comfortable that his classmates are able to approach him and exchange amicable words.
Sebek doesn’t explicitly say it, but this just goes to show how well he understands Silver and how he wants to show off Silver’s good qualities to their peers. (Sebek also outright brags about Silver’s grace and poise in the vignettes of Fairy Gala: If.) Of course, he coats his intentions with the usual, “blah blah blah, if you act like this then it will make the young master look bad and we can’t have that,” but really that’s just a cover-up for his genuine concern for Silver. It’s a moment of emotional weakness that Sebek just doesn’t want to let out in full, so he uses arrogance to mask it. This shows that Sebek has both a capacity to connect with humans and a willingness to help his friends.
At the same, this greatly helps to further characterize Silver as someone who is diligent (as he tries hard to improve himself in areas where he is lacking; previously, this improvement was tied to his concerns about staying alert, which put perhaps too strong of an emphasis on Silver’s sleepiness). He also lacks confidence in these areas because he is aware of his weaknesses, and he strives to take great pains in order to cover for them. Additionally, Silver is shown to confide in his friends (Kalim, Sebek) about these weaknesses. He is very emotionally open with his thoughts (in spite of his stoic face) and, in contrast to Sebek, is not opposed to receiving help or guidance on the way to achieving his goals.
Something else that’s interesting is that the vignettes show us that Silver does care to some extent what his classmates think of him. I definitely don’t think it’s to the same obsessive degree as someone like Vil, but Silver genuinely wants to get alone with everyone and make friends with them. He has truly good intentions and also wants to see the good intentions in others, even if they are inaccurate (like when Silver assumes that Jamil is worried for Kalim in Endless Halloween Night). Additionally, Silver’s kind-hearted nature allows him to better understand Sebek, a person who comes off as so abrasive to others. Silver gives everyone the benefit of his doubt. As Lilia and Malleus comment in his Dorm vignettes, it’s a mark that Silver is able to be the type of individual that connects other people (something we witness Silver do firsthand in Fairy Gala: If when he negotiates between the fairies and NRC).
bdjssbksjw That’s what makes their bond so strong 😌 Silver is willing to see what many others don’t in Sebek, and Sebek is willing to put aside some of his pride and personal prejudice towards humans to support Silver.
GAHHHH 🥺 I just. Really enjoy Silver and Sebek’s friendship—how well their conflicting personalities play off of one another, and how well they are able to understand the other despite their strong differences.

Idia Fact Sheet (No Book 6 Spoilers)
Tumblr media
Note: This character sheet has no spoilers from the Ignihyde Dorm chapter because spoilers are the worst. There are references to JPN-only things like Idia's dorm uniform card vignette, etc, as usual.
(Ranked 7th in a combination of seven different character-ranking surveys by the jpn server held throughout 2021)
Idia rarely leaves his dorm room, attending classroom lectures via a tablet. He says he “never wanted to be housewarden”, insinuating that he was appointed to the position against his will.
In Book 5 we learn that Riddle has been housewarden of Heartslabyul longer than Idia has been of Ignihyde, so it is safe to assume that he did not become housewarden until his third year.
Illustration notes: "Stronger flames. He makes this expression sometimes when he gets excited. Like when he comes across a strong enemy in a video game, or when things are going according to plan. Most people won’t see this look at first; not until he’s grown close to them. Surprise.”
When provoked Idia becomes extremely upset, much like the character upon which he was based, but he cools down again very quickly. He also slips into outdated internet slang when he speaks with passion.
The name he uses most widely online is “Nekura Samurai”, and his closest online friend is “Muscle Red”. We learn in card vignettes that “Muscle Red” is actually Lilia, but neither student is aware of the online-identity of the other.
Despite his extreme dislike for talking to people face to face, it is surprisingly easy to goad him into becoming talkative, especially about his hobbies and interests. Idia seems to have great disdain for tradition (ref: homescreen and beansfest).
Tumblr media
Idia is very protective of Ortho, an android he built himself and programmed to act as a little brother. When Idia was kidnapped by a ghost looking to marry (and subsequently murder) him, Ortho was the only student willing to try and save Idia’s life. Ortho joined Crowley in blackmailing the rest of the characters into helping.
Idia spends the vast majority of the “Wish Upon a Star” event fulfilling his tasks to the bare minimum while constantly, audibly hoping that it will be cancelled. When this ‘wish’ comes close to being fulfilled, he witnesses Ortho’s disappointment and turns around to invent the Stargazer gear for Ortho that saves the entire event, even participating in-person in accordance with a bet he lost to Deuce.
Tumblr media
Idia’s desire to not disappoint Ortho is, however, fallible. In his ceremonial robes vignette we see Idia get goaded by Riddle into promising that he will attend the opening ceremonies, much to Ortho's delight. Ortho asks that they take a picture together in their robes, as Ortho had not been allowed to participate in Idia's opening ceremonies upon his enrollment in the school (just like the player and Grim, Idia and Ortho are enrolled as two halves of one student).
Idia gets as far as changing into his robes and reaching the school’s courtyard, but when a confused Malleus comments on his clothing (“I simply cannot understand the meaningless things humans do at times”), Idia panics, insults Malleus and retreats to the safety of his room without ever seeing Ortho at all.
Ortho follows up later to apologize for asking him to attend in the first place, assuring his “brother” that “We don’t need to go somewhere to be together” and “I’ll always be with you”.
There are only a few characters with whom Idia will communicate in person and only under certain circumstances, like Jamil and fellow board games club-member Azul. He is particularly uncomfortable around Kalim, Cater, Trey and Rook.
In his birthday vignette he is asked what dorm, besides Ignihyde, he would like to live in (a question asked of all the students in the second round of birthday cards), he answers “Octavinelle wouldn’t be bad, but I want to stay far away from those disturbing twins", insinuating he has issues with Jade and Floyd as well.
When Ortho requested that Idia design him a pair of legs that can walk on land (instead of levitate) Idia refused on the basis that “floating around is every guy’s dream”, “ walking is total NPC stuff” and “flying is for heroes”.
Floyd and Jade proceed to blackmail Idia into designing the legs for Ortho anyway (via an “interesting piece of information” they have about him), with Floyd underlining their point by gifting Ortho a pair of shoes for his birthday. This incident may have something to do with Idia's discomfort around them.
Idia had originally intended to join the Science Club, but it had more members than he’d anticipated and he switched to the Boardgames Club instead. In the official fan book, it is said that the club is a reference to Disney’s Hercules movie.
Idia dislikes the outdoors and physical activity extremely. (“Humans are the only creatures that do pointless exercise to consume the nutrients they have taken in! It's really stupid!" from homescreen)
In the Beansfest event, we learn he has set up a deal with Sam where he hides out in Sam’s shop until the end of the event. In exchange, Idia (under the alias “Mr. Smith”) designs one-of-a-kind bean-shooting weapons for players to purchase from Sam.
Tumblr media
While constantly down-playing his abilities and knowledge, we learn in the Phantom Bride event that, if goaded enough, he will reveal that he actually thinks very highly of himself and his accomplishments (much to the surprise and awkwardness of Riddle and the other students). He can also become quick to insult and belittle others, leading to Ace’s comment of “he’s actually really cool…as long as he keeps his mouth shut.”
Rook refers to him as “King of his own room”, Floyd as “Hotaruika-senpai” (for firefly squid) and Leona calls him カイワレ大根 (kaiware daikon), for being shady, frail and tall. Despite this unflattering name, Leona tells us that “He’s got more power and brains than ordinary students”.
Tumblr media
Idia has said he likes cats, will try talking to Lucius during history lessons and accidentally terrified Grim in his lab wear vignette when he mistook Grim for a regular cat. He is also fond of dogs, but has said he does not get along with dog people like Crewel.
Idia seems to have something of a complex with his hair, and his fear of others making fun of it in his ceremonial robes vignette and Book 5 seems to insinuate that it is unusual even for the Twisted Wonderland universe. He also expresses concern that people will recognize him as a member of the Shroud family.
Tumblr media
Despite being only eighteen, he seems to be a household name in the field of magical engineering, and we learn that that he “can buy a gymnasium full of canned tuna” with just a single part of the various elements that make up Ortho.
From his voice line of “Tests are like games. The higher you score, the better you feel”, it seems that he might actually be an accomplished student despite his habit of staying up all night, absorbed in his hobbies.
At the very end of Book 5 Ortho reveals that Idia has received a large number of offers from various companies soliciting him for internships, including the VDC event’s sponsor, Olympos Co. Idia orders Ortho to delete them all, saying “I’m not going anywhere regardless…”
Rather than a magical pen, Idia uses a floating, skull-like drone in battles that also stirs the cauldron in alchemy lessons.
He is always wearing headphones in order to listen to music with the best possible sound quality and to shut out the world around him through noise-canceling. His favorite music is by a three-member girl group called “Precipice Moirai” whose members are “older than they look” (although, in Epel’s dorm uniform vignette, he says they look old while having the spirits of 17 year olds. This conflicting information is consistent on both the ENG- and JPN-servers, and may be a continuity error). It is speculated in the fan community that is a reference to the three Fates in Disney’s Hercules.
Idia’s favorite food is dagashi because “it is easy to eat while gaming”. Dagashi are cheap snackfoods that became popular in Japan during the Edo Period when sugar was particularly expensive.
This site is great if you would like to learn more (bonus: if you have seen Spirited Away and ever wondered about the star-shaped food eaten by the soot sprites? Those are a form of dagashi, introduced to Japan by Portugal).
Tumblr media
Potato chips and cheap chocolate are also dagashi.
Idia dislikes raw fish because of the smell, how it is eaten neither hot nor cold, the texture and how troublesome it is to prepare. Idia says that “block snacks” are good enough for him, as he is only interested in consuming the nutrition he needs to function, regardless of the form it comes in.
Dagashi comes in both sweet and savory forms. By “block snacks”, I would assume that twst is referring to something similar to “Calorie Mate”-brand snacks without using the copyrighted name. A common snack food in Japan, it is marketed as being an alternative way to consume enough calories to keep going when you don’t have enough time to prepare and eat a proper meal.
Some great artists for Idia fan-art and more (SFW, no story spoilers) Idia looking amazing

Halloween Vignette Summaries
Even if you’re not a vignette-reading kind of player, the Spectral Soiree vignettes are highly recommended!
Starting with Riddle, there’s a flashback from his first year in school right after he became housewarden. We learn about how housewardens can customize their uniforms, why he has chosen to wear heels and see an early interaction between Riddle and Vil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Ace’s vignette he vents at Malleus and Lilia for how it seems they do not realize how powerful they are, and for kidnapping the entire student body for fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also get a quick flashback of Ace spending time with Deuce, Grim and the player character, with Lilia teasing him about having been lonely without them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Floyd’s we get a story from a Coral Sea halloween when he was kidnapped by ghost pirates as a child and had to fight his way free, and in Trey’s we get Trey without his glasses!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Silver's involves a lot of what may or may not be foreshadowing, as well as some insight into his upbringing and relationships with Lilia, Malleus and Sebek.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonus: canonical dance partners from the 11 vignettes Jamil + Epel Floyd + Jade Deuce + Cater Deuce + Grim + Ace + Player (in the scene they are asking Ace to dance, not the player) Cater + Silver Riddle + Ghost Riddle + Vil Riddle + Kalim Malleus + Lilia + Silver
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(there are no major changes between the JP-server and NA-server versions of the vignettes except for the removal of the word "middle school", which is a consistent change in the NA edit)

hHi Miss Raven!! I wanted to ask about which boys you think are best at being lie dectors? For exmaple if someone lies to them, which boys can catch them in the lie?
Tumblr media
To answer this question, I only considered the main 22 NRC students.
Please also note that just because I did not include a character in my response, it doesn’t mean I think they’re terrible at telling when someone is lying or can’t tell when someone is lying; it just means I don’t think they’re as adept at detecting it as others in the cast are.
Anyway, here’s my list (in no particular order other than by dorm):
Trey -- This one’s easy; Trey is like the ONLY person to have noticed that Cater and Rook were lying and/or being evasive about the truth. No one else realized that Cater actually hates sweets or that Rook isn’t comfortable talking about himself to others, but TREY did.
Cater -- This is mainly because if he really wanted to, Cater could hunt down anyone’s information on social media to discredit or to confirm something. You’d be shocked to know how much dirt you can dig up online. Cater is also just very emotionally in-tune with, and socially aware of, others!
Leona -- In Jamil’s School Uniform vignette, Leona notably points out that Jamil’s face doesn’t match his thoughts, and that Jamil’s eyes “always glare”. Leona knew that Jamil was putting up a facade and that he posed a danger to Kalim even when Jamil wasn’t doing anything suspicious. This prince has got good instincts and observation skills on him!
Ruggie -- Honestly, I can see Ruggie learning the common physical tells of a liar (such as avoiding eye contact or having twitchy hands or eyes) so that he can avoid getting scammed himself. After all... it takes a liar to know a liar!!
Azul -- He’s generally a very observant guy, and with information on all of the student body, it’s hard to think that he wouldn’t have a tentacle or two writhing out to grasp for the truth in every matter. Azul tends to notice little things that no one else does, and makes educated guesses based on them. For example, Azul says that he notices that Jamil always scores in the middle in every subject, but to even do such a thing consistently requires a lot of skill in of itself. Thus, Azul suspected that Jamil was purposefully scoring in the middle, and can, in reality, perform much better than that.
Jade -- Shock the Heart aside, Jade is one of the two that deals in Azul’s dirty work, and seems to serve as the main informant of the Octatrio. With all that blackmail knowledge behind him, he can have an extensive understanding of anyone, and thus also understand their habits, beliefs, and what they are likely to lie about.
Jamil -- This one’s mostly because he’s always on high alert and cautious, especially in situations that involve Kalim. Of course Jamil will be suspicious of everyone and vigilant for those who may betray him (and thus betray and/or harm Kalim in the process). Look in a mirror, Jamil--
Vil -- As an A list actor, Vil can tell mediocre acting from the real deal, and this extends to lies. There’s many instances in which Vil expresses a distrust of others because he believes their characters are shady, or that the words they offer are potentially false ones (Azul’s Ceremonial Robes vignettes, Jade’s Dorm Uniform vignettes, all those times when Vil tells Epel he knows Epel cuts loose whenever he thinks the dorm leader isn’t around to watch him, etc).
Rook -- Huntsman. That’s it, just huntsman. If he can tell your height and weight from a single glance, what makes you think he can’t tell when you’re lying to his face? Huntsman.
Ortho -- Ortho’s a robot, and that means his abilities can surpass those of living beings. Being a machine, Ortho can LITERALLY be a lie detector, which reads physical reactions (like sweating, heart rate, etc.) to determine if a subject is lying. Of course, giving off a physical reaction doesn’t ALWAYS mean someone is lying (it could just be the nerves, and some expert liars may not give a reaction at all), but I think it’s totally possible for Idia to equip his little brother with other tools to help him tell lies from truth. Like... what’s stopping Ortho from instantly searching online/on someone’s socials and filtering out relevant information to see if it’s a lie or not? What’s stopping Idia from installing a program specifically for detecting lies? Nothing, really.  And maybe Ortho wouldn’t be good at it when he was first created, but I can see him improving at it over time with the more data he collects. That’s how machine learning works; keep feeding it information and the machine gets more accurate with its predictions.
Lilia -- With age comes wisdom. As a long-lived elder fae, Lilia has a ton of life experience under his belt. He can use all of his experience and knowledge to his advantage when determining if someone’s telling the truth or not. It also helps that he has raised a few kids; he’ll be able to sniff out those little white lies kids tell, too!

I love that the club cards give you items but I really wish we got personal stories with them too, seeing more of the club shenanigans would be nice

Right??? 😭 I really wish we could have actual vignettes for the Club Wears; I want to see stories about the dumb mischief they get up to during their extracurriculars!! We sometimes get home screen lines (or even vignettes like the time in Azul’s School Uniform story where he practices his dice rolls) about what goes down in clubs, so it’s not like we never hear about it, but it’d be really nice to have more extended interactions between club members.
I know the Pop/Light Music Club usually just sits around, eats snacks, and chills, so maybe they wouldn’t have anything too exciting to elaborate on, but I think it’d be neat to hear their process for composing a new song (since we get hints that they often have clashing ideas). Or maybe Lilia shows off the various instruments he has collected from his travels, or songs he has heard throughout all the time he has lived. Kalim could be all over the place, throwing out ideas and seeing what sticks (”Let’s get parrots to sing with us!”, “Should we get backup dancers?”, “My parents sent a truckload of snacks!”, etc). Cater just wishes they had a unified vision--but hey, they’re having fun, so he guesses it’s alright in the end?
Basketball Club has a totally different dynamic 😂 It feels like Jamil is the team mom trying to keep her kids in line (but it’s not working). Ace is running around pulling pranks and showing off, being a brat in general, and Floyd is marching to the beat of his own drum and refuses to follow directions or to play consistently. “Why is it that even when I’m not with Kalim, I’m still babysitting people...” Poor Jamil, man. He never gets a proper break.
