i am nearly to the end of season 7 in my rewatch, and i want to tell new fans something that they may not have known about the original run:
we had no idea, until basically the day the finale aired, that there was going to be a season 8. the actors didn't know even while they were filming it.
see, turnaround times for network tv shows used to be MUCH shorter. they would spend usually 8 days shooting, a couple days in editing and post, and then it would air. often they were still editing in the MINUTES before airtime.
gillian anderson did an interview with letterman on the late show (i had to tape it because my mom wouldn't let me stay up to watch!) on like the thursday before Requiem aired saying that she had no idea what was going to happen. they had filmed one ending for if the show would continue, and another if it wouldn't. she said there was "this thing that i say" and if she says it, that would give us our answer. (it was "i'm pregnant" and when i say i DIED... like if i still had my diary from age 13/14 i would scan it for you just so you could see how unhinged i was about this.) (she was completely adorable in this interview and if anyone can find it i would love to watch it again. it was in may 2000.)
fox was in negotiations with the xf team for weeks leading up to the finale. they had no idea if Requiem was going to be a season or SERIES finale. david duchovny didn't want to come back, they didn't know if they could continue without him, they had NO IDEA what the plot for 8 would be if he didn't come back.
(this is why i laugh when fans try to say they planted clues about the ivf arc in s6-7. no they didn't. they did not think that far ahead. i love that you're trying to make this make sense but please don't tie yourselves up in knots about this, because no one else involved did.)
the weeks leading up to the finale were some of the most nail-biting times i have ever experienced in a fandom.
if you're wondering why og x-philes are all insane, this is just one of many reasons.

I can't stop thinking about the news out of Palestine. Israel is sieging al Shifa hospital. Videos of people's limbs being severed off are haunting (graphic video tw). The hospital has ran out of fuel and 39 babies in incubators are fending for their lives by themselves, because Israel has stationed snipers around the hospital and is shooting all medical crew that walks into their sight.
First, the narrative was Israel would never bomb hospitals. Now, the hospitals are Hamas bases. Then, we respect journalists. Now, we have a fucking kill list of journalists because they are Hamas collaborators. First, we are not letting fuel in until the hostages are released. Now, we are not accepting the hostages back because that would stop our ground invasion and let Hamas win. And I could go on about every single lie they're making up. If you look up "Hamas rape" on google, the first link leads to Times of Israel saying Israel has found no forensic evidence of sexual violence, and only one eyewitness testimony out of 3.5k people attending the rave. If you Google "Hamas beheaded babies" the top links say they have no evidence for the claim besides word of mouth from extremist soldiers. Israeli extremists think about the ugliest goriest scene they can make out in their sick heads, tell that to a international journalist and they run away with it like it's gospel.
And children are being killed in the name of these lies. Thousands are being displaced in images that remind me of the pictures of Tantura 75 years ago, with their hands up so the tanks don't shoot them. Amputees are leaving the hospitals in wheelchairs hours after their surgeries because they are being shot at. Elders who survived the Nakba on 48 are having to walk towards Southern Gaza on foot (imagine walking from one end of your city to the other on foot), displaced again. People are cheering for the haunting images of white phosphorus bombs being dropped over Gaza. Gazan workers who were arrested in the West Bank are being thrust back into the bombings wearing numbered labels.
This is not normal. We are seeing the early stages of the settler colonial genocide of an indigenous population. Native leaders who have visited Gaza say its refugee camps look eerily like reservations. We can stop this. For the first time we are able to see wide scale accounts from the hands of the people suffering the genocide, and Israel is so scared of it they have cut all communications in Gaza.
This is our litmus test. I think we have never seen more clearly, with Palestine, Armenia, Congo and Sudan how colonialism has made our world a rotten place to live in.
The South African apartheid collapsed due to boycotts. We have to do everything in our power to stop Israel's hegemony. Even talking to a group of friends about Palestine changes the status quo. There's no world where we can live peacefully if Israel accomplishes their goals.
Keep yourself updated and share Palestinian voices. Muna El-Kurd said every tweet is like a treasure to them, because their voices are repressed on social media and even on this very app. Make it your action item to share something about the Palestinian plight everyday. Here are some resources:
Al Jazeera, Anadolu Agency, Mondoweiss
Boycott Divest Sanction Movement
Palestinian Youth Movement is organizing protests and direct action against weapons factories across the US
Mohammed El-Kurd (twitter / instagram)
Muhammad Shehada (twitter)
Motaz Azaiza (instagram) - reporting directly from Gaza.
Hind Khudary - reporting directly from Gaza. Her husband and daughter moved South to run from the tanks but she stayed behind to record the genocide. The least we can do is not let her calls fall on deaf ears.
You can participate in boycotts wherever you are in the world, through BDS guidelines. Don't be overwhelmed by gigantic boycott lists. BDS explicitly targets only a few brands which have bigger impact. You can stop consuming from as many brands as you want, though, and by all means feel free to give a 1 star review to McDonalds, Papa John, Pizza Hut, Burger King and Starbucks. Right now, they are focusing on boycotting the following:
Carrefour, HP, Puma, Sabra, Sodastream, Ahava cosmetics, Israeli fruits and vegetables
Push for a cultural boycott - pressure your favorite artist to speak out on Palestine and cancel any upcoming performances on occupied territory (Lorde cancelled her gig in Israel because of this. It works.)
If you can, participate in direct action or donate.
Palestine Action works to shut down Israeli weapons factories in the UK and USA, and have successfully shut down one of their firms in London. Some of the activists are going on trial and are calling for mobilizing on court.
Palestinian Youth Movement is organizing direct actions to stop the shipping of wars to Israel. Follow them.
Educate yourself. Read into Palestinian history and the occupation. You can't common sense people out of decades of propaganda. If your arguments crumble when a zionist brings up the "disengagement of Gaza", you have to learn more.
Read Decolonize Palestine. They have 15 minute reads that concisely explain the occupation (and its colonial roots) and debunk popular myths, including pinkwashing.
Read on Palestine. Here's an amazing masterpost.
Verso Book Club is giving out free books on Palestine (I personally downloaded Ten Myths about Israel by Ilan Pappe. If you still believe in the two states solution, this book by an Israeli professor debunks it).
Call your representatives. The Labour Party in the UK had an emergency meeting after several councilors threatened to resign if they didn't condemn Israeli war crimes. Calling to show your complaints works, even more if you live in a country that funds genocide.
FOR PEOPLE IN THE USA: USCPR has developed this toolkit for calls, here's a document that autosends emails to your representatives and here's a toolkit by Ceasefire in Gaza NOW!
FOR PEOPLE IN EUROPE: Here's a toolkit by Voices in Europe for Peace targeting the European Parliament and one specific for almost all countries in Europe, including Germany, Ireland, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Greece, Norway, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Finland, Austria, Belgium Romania and Ukraine

omgggg, that Toji x reader (*plus* Naoya) was incredibleee, ignore me if you want, I know you made Toji chosing to keep distance from reader and Megumi permanently BUT what if one day he ends up finally seeing Megumi, either personally or by pictures/videos 🥺 We know Megumi it's the spitted image of him, I mean, Gojo's face when he saw him for the first time said it all 😅 And also knowing his baby has the Ten Shadows technique (I cant stop thinking about how proud he was in the canon manga/anime 🥺 he always KNEW from the start Megumi was blessed/gifted, since his first breath, the fact Toji named him is not random) making the entire Zenin clan eat their shit
Heya anon!!
I'm so glad you liked it heheheheheheh a oneshot that I didn't intend to write but it just happened!! aren't we glad it did? lol
I didn't mean to ignore you, I was only focusing on other things first 😅 oof, I still have lots of request to go through, which I plan to do it slowly but surely...
Anyways, I might've not gone down that route, however... why not something angsty? I mean 😏I've had this in my mind so... yeah 😏😏😏😏😏😏😏
Warnings: mentions of infidelity. Pregnancy. Naoya is, unfortunately, a prick. this is the oneshot anon is talking about. 100% read that first hehe. this is an AU from that, so the second part doesn't count??? I guess. excuse the proofreading. also I haven't written toji that much so please excuse my oocness as well ahahahahha :')
Happy reading!
Tumblr media
As much as the three hoped to ignore the bases of your pregnancy, behave as it didn’t rise from an adulterous act, a direct transgression to the principles of the Zen’in, and keep it a secret, it wouldn’t take long before the guilt in each other’s mind began to weight heavy on their mind, ultimately betraying them and revealing the truth to the light, excusing the angered elders to finally get rid of two birds with one stone.
“Where—Where does this accusation even come from?!” You gasp, blood turning cold at the implication—at the notion of the truth. “Do you know the gravity of such words?!”
“Better than you of the act, it seems.” Another accuses. “We were quite aware of the rumors surrounding your ill-fitting behavior, but we never believed it would actually extend to this point!”
“I—I won’t tolerate neither of you disrespecting me!” you cry. “Nor will Naoya for that matter!”
But calling for his aid would no longer prove sufficient, for Naoya, too deep in his own insecurities by that point, had come to the disheartening conclusion that this situation had gotten way out of hand for a simple diversion.
A supposed act of mercy.
He shouldn’t have let this happen in the first place, should’ve respected what you and your marriage represented, what meant to him, and discard his pity for Toji—the man has been alone most of his life, what difference would that make that now?
But he didn’t, he allowed you to go to Toji—no, he handed you over to him, thinking he was doing something right for his cousin, or perhaps something deep inside him was allured by the sick idea of you being with another man and now, he was suffering the consequences.
Consequences he did not like, not one bit—because it got too real for him: you were now pregnant, with Toji’s child, and not his.
And this only highlighted what he considered the pitfalls of this relationship, a strike against his ego and the supposed inability to beget children, a rumor that grew bigger and bigger by each passing day, spreading like wildfire to the point where even outsiders became aware of it.
Which, for a prideful man like Naoya, was only a nightmare.
He loved you, he really did—Naoya never envisioned spending the rest of his life with anyone else…
But he loved his pride more, and when his clan began to actively confront him about it, he couldn’t take it anymore.
And thus….
“…Naoya?”
“This marriage was broken before it even started.” Your husband would say, unexpected words that pierced straight to your heart. “My family advised me well in avoiding you, but I falsely believed I could achieve differently.”
“What—what are you even saying?” you breathe. “What do you mean by—by differently?”
And… where does everything you lived with him stand?
The time you spent with him, the sweet nothings he’d whisper into your ear, to love you both swore to one another, reminding each other that there was no one else that compares…
And that you were the only woman who has ever made him feel this way—loved— and would do everything in the world to make happy…
Was it… all … a lie?
All for… nothing?
Or were you the only one that actually believed the other’s words?
“I cannot look past these transgressions.” Naoya continues. “You’ve left me no choice.”
“But you—you made me do this!” you gasp. “I never—I never wanted to be with anyone else! All this time, my heart only belonged to you!  How could you—how could you abandon me after all we’ve gone through together?!”
Naoya doesn’t say anything else anymore, instead, he simply turns around, exiting the room to leave you in the hands of the vengeful elders who did not hesitate to do what they had long desired—banish you from the estate.
Swiftly yet cruelly, you wouldn’t be able to take anything with you, not even a change of clothes or even money (you didn’t even ask for much, just enough to survive the week) as you were forced to face a new life of your own—alone, pregnant.
Going back to your family was also out of the question; the shame that you’d bring upon their name was one the Zen’in didn’t not waste time to remind them of—at the end, there was only so much your father and siblings could do against the invasive ways of the elders, and perhaps, a part of them deep inside, were also disappointed that you’ve succumbed to such foul thing.
And so, you were tossed onto the street, with nothing more than the clothes you were wearing, whatever you had for savings throughout the years, managed to take it out before either clan could close your account—but most importantly, with a broken heart you believe will never heal, not after the grave wound your husband’s indifference inflicted on it.
The pain you couldn’t even mourn properly due to all the things you had to worry about now.
The first thing you did was search for a place to stay, though getting one was proving to be an almost impossible task.
Thankfully, you were allowed to keep one other thing, maybe it eluded their minds when all this was happening, but you’re not going to question why when it was going to help you pay for a roof.
Naoya’s ring, your wedding ring, was something many would consider expensive, the kind of flashiness expected from a prestigious family like the Zen’in.
You remember a time when any kind of ring would’ve been enough for you to marry him. You didn’t need anything extraordinary to commit your life and heart to him.
That’s nothing but a far cry from what you felt now.
It still hurt to pawn it, but it was the only way you could accommodate yourself and the unborn child inside you, in the only area you could afford with what you got, for even then many suspected that your ring… well, had dubious origins.
When was the last time you even had to worry about the costs of living? Food, clothes, water…?
Many years—it had to; ever since you got together with Naoya, he’s been the one that took care of you.
You just had to say the word and he’d disappear all of your worries—even from the simplest of wants, Naoya indulgingly obliged.
It was a happy life you eventually considered for your child—imagining how happy they’d grow to be without a single worry, solely focusing on what they’ll have to play that day, or how to escape their over doting parents.
A long-gone dream, tossed to the side as a nightmare quickly took its place.
Did Naoya ever mean the words I love you?
Or was he doing all this just to keep you there, complying, just in case someone better came along, just like his clan wished would happen?
There mere thought of his devotion being nothing but an act tightens your heart with sorrow once more, gifting you the tragic notion that perhaps, all this time, you never knew your husband…
Maybe ex-husband, by this point.
All that was left from those moments, the slightest semblance of that marriage was this baby, created from what you thought your unconditional devotion to him, turning out to be your very own downfall.
The only one that would know of these struggles would be your baby, the one to accompany you through the darkest point of your life, hopefully to a brigther dawn.
And yet… you’ve never felt so alone.
Time surprisingly, went quicker than you anticipated, though not as easy as you would’ve wanted.
Life in your new home was still very difficult to get used to, even when it’s been months since… that.
But with the job you managed to get (whatever place hired pregnant women—they’re supposed to be at home, some would say, you didn’t care.) and some extra jujutsu work you did on the side, you managed, enough to give you a, not exactly comfortable, but just enough lifestyle.
As long as you sacrificed all the things you once considered granted and turned them into luxuries: such as warm showers, take out, and the sweets you liked to indulge once in a while; your pregnancy has been horrible because of that, and that’s without considering the medical bills you’re struggling to pay as well.
But if that wasn’t enough, your noisy neighbors presented issues of their own as well.
You’re not going to deny that your presence there was like moths to a flame, starting from your somewhat suspicious acquisition—all cash—of the small house you were living in.
From there, your loneliness, alongside your pregnancy; single mothers were unheard of, or rather, highly criticized, thus, all eyes were on you, down to your smallest movement.
Yet, even then, as annoying as they were, you were ok as long as it meant you never get to see those that hurt you ever again.
However, what you want isn’t necessarily what’s going to happen, and that would be reminded of one fateful night with an unsuspecting knock, just after you were getting ready to go to bed.
It wouldn’t be the first time someone came to bother you, but it would be the first time someone did so at this hour, and with such insistence that far from worrying you, it made you angrily storm at the entrance, ready to demand who’d be so inconsiderate enough to visit you so late at night!
And you’d get your answer soon enough, in the most shocking, horrifying, if not sorrowful manner you could’ve possibly anticipated, prompting you to close the door as soon as you saw his face, or attempted to, his reflexes much faster than yours.
“Get—get away from me!” you shrieked, hands trembling as you did your best to hold the door shut against his overwhelming strength— but even your husband has admitted that in terms of power, he excels like no one else.
“Y/N—” he breathes, somewhat amused that you’d been able to hold him off as much as you could, though eventually he was able to break free from your grasp and enter your home, you step away from him soon after.
“What are you even doing here?!” you gasp. “No—that doesn’t matter! I don’t want to see you! I’m not going back!”
“I’m not here to take you back” He quickly responds, eyes falling down to your stomach, making his face soften at the subtle bump evident through your clothes—with this sight, he knows he can’t take you back.
“Then—then why are you here, Toji?”
Perhaps Toji needed to see through his own eyes, what the whispers went on about at the estate regarding your absence.
He wasn’t there when it happened, promised himself to be far away from you as soon as your pregnancy was announced to the estate.
Toji would’ve normally taken this opportunity to act on retribution against his family, rub it on their face that the future of the clan came from him, a low life.
But he couldn’t bring himself to do so when you cheerfully paraded around the halls, happy to finally be forming a family with your beloved husband, even though it wasn’t of his making.
For the first time in his life, he thought himself to be too cruel for having planned such atrocities against the only person that has never been rude with him, always welcoming him with a smile on your face, or at least whatever you permitted when not following Naoya around like a lost puppy.
And the baby… well, he won’t deny that he was glad that his child would have a vastly different life from his—with you as his mother, it couldn’t be any other way.
Or so he believed.
Even when promising to keep away, he still attempted to check in on you, especially now that you were pregnant, whenever he had to go to the estate that is. That day was no be no exception, begrudgingly coming back to see what else he could scam out of his family to ensure his living outside.
Toji’s slyly scanned the hallways for your figure, the briefest indication of such, either through your giggle, staff, or even his cousin’s annoying voice—there were moments where he imagined how delightful it must’ve been to have you by his side, instead of Naoya’s; to be receiver of your laughter instead of that man who clearly didn’t deserve you.
But even if it was with him, he still found comfort in the fact that you were around, there.
Not like now, gone from Naoya’s side.
In fact, you were nowhere to be seen! Not with your staff, not eating by the gardens, or even indulging in one of your husband’s idiocies.
Nothing.
And no one had seen you either.
Or more like didn’t want to say, that much became evident when he stomped his way towards a nearby staff member, demanding your whereabouts, only to be responded with a fret falsely feigning ignorance, or foolish diplomacy.
At the prospect of your disappearance, Toji felt his blood run cold, almost like the estate lost whatever little warmth it had, worsening each time he asked another servant, and he’d get the same answer.
The implications behind your absence were growing heavier in his mind, to the point it sunk his heart to his stomach…
And propelled him to the one person who would undoubtedly know where you were.
“Naoya—Where is Y/N?!” Toji commands the moment he sees the heir, the young man instinctively flinched at the sight of his angered cousin, almost as if he knew what was running through his mind and attempted to make a run for it, only to be stopped by the collar, dead on his tracks. “Do not run away, coward! Answer me!”
“She’s—she’s not here anymore.” Is what Naoya manages to squeak, but Toji doesn’t need to be reminded the obvious.
“Where. Is. She.” He hisses, the worst of his assumptions slowly becoming a reality. “What have you done to her?!”
“What—what needed to be done!” Naoya gasps. “I—I couldn’t allow it!”
Toji doesn’t remember much after Naoya told him that the clan decided she was better off on her own—only that the heir was on the floor, bloodied and whimpering while attempting to cover his face, either trying to control the throbbing of his skin, the blood from spilling anywhere else, or perhaps even shame.
No. It couldn’t be the last. To have done something like what he did required a shameless man to do so.
Nonetheless Toji didn’t bother to find out nor to be reprimanded, quick to assert what needed to be done and heading out the estate; he couldn’t even bother cursing those that had done nothing but the worst after the worst, each time a new low, for his mind solely pertained in finding you.
It took him a while to do so, as expected, but he knew it was only a matter of asking around for a woman that simply didn’t fit to do the job—and such, here he is now.
“I want—needed to see you.” Toji takes a step closer.
“Get—get away from me.”
“No, I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
“You were fine doing that before—what’s so different from now?” You spat.
“This is different, Y/N. You’re alone—and you need me.”
“I’m not alone—I don’t need you.” You gasp. “Get away from me or I’ll—I’ll call the police!.”
“If you don’t need me, then the baby does.”
It’s like he struck a nerve with his words, because soon after tears would begin to fall down your cheeks, revealing that the sight you attempted to portray, the strength you so fiercely put up against him, was nothing but a façade, a way to hide the fact that indeed, you needed help.
Exhausted from facing all these uncertainties on your own, afraid.
But not anymore, not when Toji was here, more than willing to step in, as seen in the way he swiftly holds you in his arms when he sees you almost faint from distress, attempting to comfort you as you continued to cry.
“Get— get away from me…!” you’d say again, still fighting against his hold. However, he doesn’t fight it, he simply allows you to vent, taking in all the pain and hatred your heart harbored from the moment you were kicked out of the estate. “Don’t touch me!”
“I’m not leaving” Toji insists, he feels you trying to squirm your way out from him, but his strength doesn’t allow it. “You can struggle all you want, but I’m not leaving you on your own—”
“What difference does it make to you? Your family abandoned me to my luck! And even forced my family to do the same!” you breathe, Toji’s eyes widen—he did not know that; his fury for the Zen’in grows, but this is not the time to deal with that. “They don’t care if I die on the street!”
“I know.” He murmurs, holding you tighter against him.
“And I—And I tried my best to—to move on, but I can’t! I can’t do it!” you sob. “I’m so alone, and scared, and—and ashamed! I don’t want to live like this anymore!! I don’t want to die!”
“…I know.”
“Why—why is this happening to me?! All I ever wanted was for—was for Naoya to love me. I never wanted anything else! I never wanted money, I never wanted to hurt anyone either! I just—I just wanted to live a happy life with him, to make him happy!
But then he—he tossed me away, at one thing he didn’t like, he acted like I didn’t even matter! He didn’t even put up a fight to defend me! he just—he just let them hurt me, like what we had was—a lie!
Did he never—did he even love me?”
Speechless, all Toji could do is continue holding you as you kept on pouring out your feelings, hearing the heart wrenching sound of your sobs that just kept reflecting how wounded you were by Naoya’s betrayal, the transgressions of his family, and the disappointment of yours.
And all because of something you didn’t even suggest in the first place. It was him who made his way into Naoya’s mind, and eventually, it was Naoya who pushed you into it, regardless of what happened later.
He wanted to do it; you know?
He wanted to go back there and murder them for all they’d done against you.
But when he left that place one last time, he promised he would stop thinking about himself, and start doing what is right—what was needed.
If Naoya wasn’t to step up and be a man, then he would.
Toji would gladly throw away his own pride, his own anger and thirst for vengeance, just to see you safe and happy once more.
Things your husband, could simply not—but he… he’d do it in a heartbeat.
“I promise you.” Toji would reassure you once carefully placing you down to the bed after tiring yourself from crying, followed by a gentle kiss on the top of your head.
“I swear, Y/N— I will not let my family do the same things they’ve done to me to our child. Even if it costs me my life, I will do everything in my power to keep the two of you safe.”
And unlike your husband, he means it.

While we’re talking changing who appears in places- can we change the cats helping out with Sunbeam’s rock trial? I was so confused why the cats selected to help were selected. Sure Cherryfall because she was going to be the one opposing Sunbeam, why not, anyone can do that though honestly and not who I take issue with being there. But Alderheart was there? The medicine cat? Don’t you think he has better things to be doing than pushing a rock around? Where’s Lionblaze aka “I may as well still have my god given super strength”? He could easily be the cat that gets pissy for Sunbeam “not listening to senior warriors” and maybe with age feels that she doesn’t respect him, head of patrols, enough to warrant her staying this sabotaging her in the third trial. I felt robbed that Plumstone who seemed to be established as another bg strong cat was absent. Sure sending Sunbeam with all the strongest cats would make it easy but it’d also be making it safe considering Ivypool didn’t want the rock to hurt anyone and it’s a pecking rock. Why not send your strongest cats to deal with it?
I feel very strongly about this trial, can you tell?
I'm a bit dissatisfied with certain trials in general. Most of the time I LOVE the new trials they made, I think they've been super creative so far, but some have been so lackluster that I need to shine them up.
Namely Berryheart's active attempts to get challengers killed. Someone has to get ACTUALLY hurt by one of those, instead of them just being generally unfair and no one raises an objection about it. I did not like the spring-powered adder that went BOING out of a log.
I will say that I would like to expand on Plumstone in this arc, plus her whole little family. They're in an interesting place, with Bumblestripe coming back from Ferncloud's Parting while leaving his father with the Tribe, Blossomfall still reeling with emotional abuse she suffered at the paws of the impostor, Stemleaf's death and Spotfur raising his kits, and Shellfur's mateship with Fernstripe.
Plumstone ALSO has some stuff going on. She's besties-maybe-dating Thriftear, Bristlefrost's sister, and yet she's one of the more outspoken cats about how she's getting tired of the ThunderClan nepotism. She's strong, reliable, and a competent warrior-- so HOW is it fair that Nightheart keeps getting all these undeserved "chances to prove himself" when SHE is here, SIGNIFICANTLY more orange, and wants her own chance to shine??
I still see her personality as being "a dear" lmao, she's not mean, but she's also not willing to bite her tongue either. She will say what's on her mind, and point out unfair treatment when she feels it.
Thriftear supports this. Yeah, she's a descendant of Firestar and a great warrior, but she EARNED the respect she gets. Bristlefrost did too. Nightheart doesn't even want his legacy, why is this clumsy humbug still getting special treatment?
Good-cat bad-cat pair type thing going on.
So I'm probably going to let them both act as a unit, since BB's Dewnose isn't in ThunderClan and that was a really random pair-up anyway.
("wait! Elder Bones! Where did Dewnose go?" Probably ShadowClan, here is the BB!ThunderClan family tree. There's been shuffles; the Cloudbright kits are now Whitewing, Foxleap, and Icecloud, 3 "singlet" litters, spaced out over years.)
Quickie thoughts on touching up the trials;
(DISCLAIMER: NOT SOLID. WE DON'T REWORK UNTIL ARCS ARE COMPLETE.)
Berryheart's are going to need serious overhauls. Nightheart's were really cute and I enjoyed them, but BB is supposed to be about how her group is escalating towards violence. I do not want them to stay so "cute" for the story I'm telling.
I also don't want to keep Nightheart failing his last one on purpose. I want his growth to be more based in self-realization than trying to let Sunbeam "save face."
I kinda want Fringewhisker to get injured during one of her own, and then Antfur dies as collateral damage in Nightheart's last. I'd like Nightheart leaving to be half him realizing that his BEHAVIOR is a problem, and half for his own safety.
In ThunderClan, I'd like the boulder one to be more about Sunbeam assembling a team, almost like she's a patrol head.
Since it's her second trial and she displayed some pretty fantastic leadership skills with her first one, I've got an inkling of an idea that Squilf actually talked with Ivy about wanting to legitimately assess her talent.
Like, "We both know that this whole trial-system was just to appease the other Clans. These are meant to be easy because idgaf. But wow, Sunbeam was actually impressive with those kits. What else can she do, if we give her the chance?"
I really like writing Squilf as she's described in Bramblestar's Storm, where her good leadership comes from being attentive of details and making everyone feel useful.
Man... maybe ill save Rosepetal for this arc and let her be deputy during this. Something feels very Rosepetaly about this. Maybe even have Rosepetal be clearly treating her as if she's a Secondary Apprentice, preparing her to take over her reputation of being a prolific mentor... Nightheart comes back from his trip only to find Sunbeam with twice as much respect as status as he ever had.
I can always axe Rose later to get Ivypool in... But I also REALLY love all the Ivypool Deputy Drama with how there's a conflict with ShadowClan... man. why are there so many interesting girls.
Maybe Rose doesn't have to be deputy, but Ivy assigns Rosepetal as the only "mandatory member" of the Boulder Patrol. Like a tutorial tip lmaooo
Sunbeam: "I think I will pick......................" STARES AT ROSEPETAL, "aaalderrr-" Rosepetal frowns "--pluuuuumstone??" Rosepetal nods, "Wise choice."
And lastly. The final Sunbeam trial. Ngl hated it. It felt really boring compared to the previous two, which were super interesting and excellent ways to give some spotlight to background characters.
Riddles don't even feel like a ThunderClan thing. Idk that was a very RiverClan (philosophy) or ShadowClan (trickery) kind of thing.
I think I'll hold off on thinking about it though; I think it would be SUPER cool if I totally overhauled that last trial to make it foreshadow the later books, somehow.
I DO want to keep that disney channel ass Cherryfall being a bitch part though. I love her so much. I'm so glad she's walking in her father's pawsteps and becoming the snot-nosed brat of ThunderClan.
I will definitely be changing how Sunbeam HANDLES it though. Hate the way that the books emphasize never telling anyone anything.
In fact, I kinda want to make Sunbeam approach Sparkpelt for advice, to show she finally has a figure she feels like she can trust.
Explicitly contrast the way that she NEVER felt like she could approach Berryheart, and that so much of her appeasing, avoidant behavior had been because she didn't feel safe or respected.
Here, in ThunderClan, she has family. She begins to realize that even if Nightheart came back and dumped her, Sparkpelt and Finchlight would NEVER kick her to the curb.
So she goes to Sparkpelt about how she is being bullied by Cherryfall, and they TALK ABOUT OPTIONS.
Like, you know,
Spark: "We could go to Squirrelstar or the deputy."
Sun: "I don't want to cause a fuss if I don't have to... besides, idk, I don't want to set the peat on fire, it would be nice if I could be on good terms with Cherryfall later."
Spark: "that's very wise of you, but just remember that Squilst is a very fair person. We can always go to her. Do you want any backup at all or do you want to do this on your own?"
Sun: "I think... I think I actually do need to do this on my own. If I was being confronted, I think I would just double down if I was being attacked in a group. That was right with Brambleclaw because you weren't trying to convince him, but... what do you think?"
Spark: "I think Cherryfall's just like her father and her ego is everything to her, so I think you're right on the mouse with all this. Honestly, I don't even know how much I'm helping here!"
Sun: "Oh but you are helping! You're helping a lot! StarClan... it feels so nice to just... have someone to listen. Thanks, Sparkpelt."
Basically, tweak the trials to bring them more in line with the themes and messages of BB, y'know? And also beef up the Clans themselves, by stressing the various personalities that are at play here. Especially since I quite like how Sunbeam in ThunderClan has some super neat traits she wasn't expressing in ShadowClan.
Like... it feels like it could be a really cool story to tell about how supportive environments can make you really shine. How you can suddenly seem like a brand new person, just by having people who have your back and encourage your autonomy.

You can just love.
Today I learned a lesson from Sutekh, that I want to tell everyone, who practice paganism in one who or another. A lesson, that everyone should realise amd remember.
You can just love. You don't need any sign, you don't need to be the chosen one, you can just love. You can love every Deity, every spirit, every forse of nature. You can pick and pray, that how it was in ancient times. What is stopping you from this? Which boundaries? There is none, except one, and that boundaries that we create on our own. You can't imagine, how I drove myself to tears with thoughts that everything should be exactly how in my head. How my throat spasmed, when I saw posts about Loki and His family, how I fast looked away, seeing posts about Zeus, Poseidon and Hephaestus, how my lips pursed, when posts about element connection and Heru the Elder and the Younger and Wesir appears. I kept my feelings locked. "Take time, you will get as good as them with time and learning, it's nothing", – I kept telling myself, while my heart suffered.
There are almost no rules (the one main is respect closed practices, don't be an asshole), except the ones, we created ourselves in our heads. Who told me, that there should be exactly N number of Gods I worship? Who told me, that I should wait a sing? Who the fuck said that all of this is true? There are people and opinions, but there are millions of paths, and it's only for YOU to decide, who to listen and which path take. You don't need to have close relationship, you don't need to "work" with them. You can just love. The whisper of Their name is enough, the thought about Them and your smile is enough. Your simple love is enough. After all, there are no boundaries about worshipping Deities, Spirits, Fairies, Elements, Animals, Nature, Cosmos and Universe except the ones, we, for some reason, create for ourselves.
All this time I kept my love under a lock, just because someone somewhere said or wrote something. All this time I suffered because of this boundaries, that I created myself. Why the fuck I should have them? Why I let someone force me to take another path, that I didn't like?
All this evening there was a big thunderstorm. About an hour there were lightnings, and I felt safe in Sutekh's storm. I started to change, because I wanted, and I asked Him to aid me on this path. But I couldn't do it, if I will continue lie to myself. After all this time, I let myself be honest with my feelings about certain Gods and worship. I wanted to love Them, I wanted to be with Them, even if not as close as with my "main" Gods. It became easier. It became happier. It became right.
I don't think I would be close with Poseidon as close as with Hades, but it doesn't matter. I can just love finding Loki in crunchy leaf, that looked uncruncy, I can just love Wesir and His feeling of home, I can just love Heru, whenever I see a feather.
There are no boundaries (except, again, closed practices), except the ones we created ourselves. You can worship whoever you want without a sing, you can worship a lot of Gods and not feeling guilty, you can not communicating with Them and just believing in Them. You can just love, because love is enough. That is what Sutekh told me, no, remind me. And that is what I am telling you. Just love. Love is enough.

IDK if you're still giving your thoughts on AtLA ships but I would feel remiss if I didn't shoot my shot and pitch yuetara. I know on the surface this is going to immediate read like “yuekka but gay” except I FIRMLY reject the idea that the siblings are interchangable. They bring different dynamics to the relationship! and I love yuekka, don't get me wrong here, but for no fault of its own it suffers from only having a couple episodes to develop and a mostly cishet writing team doing a lot of “he's a guy and she a girl, could I make it anymore obvious?” doing a lot of the heavy lifting. WE know Sokka has a lot to offer as a partner, but from Yue's perspective Sokka is yet another man that vaults into her life and immediately wants [something from] her.
But Katara. Here she comes, granddaughter of the woman who rejected their status quo that is supposed to be there to keep them safe? And she Got Away with it, went on to lead a happy fulfilled life, and years later that granddaughter rolls right up to their master bender, an elder, A Man, one of the pillars holding up the system, and forming the bars of Yue’s cage as a physical representation that he was Wrong. And this girl spits his authority back in his face, tells him where to shove it, and somehow against every odd, she bends him to listen?? Can you imagine living your whole life being told that every part of you belongs to someone else, that you will never be a person before you're a daughter, wife, mother, princess, and then out of a clear blue sky on the day of your birth, where it's been announced you're about to change hands from one man to another, a girl just like you blows in like a typhoon, and says there's another way. Wouldn't you fall just a little bit madly in love with her?
Yue is shown that she CAN choose freedom for herself... and it makes her choosing duty in the end so much more meaningful? She could walk away. She was not born to be a prop and a sacrifice, no matter what even THE FUCKING MOON intended, she can be a whole person on her own. And ugh, the symbolism of taking up the mantle of the moonspirit so that KATARA can have her bending still!! The heartache of knowing now that everytime she bends, yue is RIGHT THERE. Literally to Moon and the OCEAN paralells FUCK.
Putting aside that korrasami crawled so that a lot of today's queer flavored kids media can even think about walking, I truly believe that if AtLA had been a product of the late 20teens or 2020’s that yuetara would have been THE ship. Anyway, sorry for the inbox blast, you're just the Katara conisuer and if you have thoughts I wanna hear em.
okay, to be clear, all of this is obvious to me. you make a compelling argument, but it’s hardly something I haven’t already considered when thinking about this ship.
however, there’s something very beautiful to me about yue’s story being a tragedy, and I think that while warping that narrative to be about feminist liberation through the power of lesbian love is obviously a noble goal, yue and sokka being two people who are confined and stifled by their respective obligations to patriarchal duty whose happiness is fundamentally impossible because neither of them can imagine a world beyond the bars of their cages is nonetheless far more interesting than a narrative wherein someone “rescues” yue from adhering to patriarchal standards and shows her a brand new world.
it’s actually very fascinating to me that sokka refuses to talk about himself, and whenever yue asks him questions about himself and his home, he is self-deprecating. besides his first attempt to claim that [by virtue of being the son of the chief] he is sort of like a prince himself, it’s clear that spending time in the nwt, who look down on their southern counterparts, wears on his self-esteem because he is predisposed to insecurity. you’re right in that katara is nothing like sokka. she wouldn’t be insecure, dismissive, cagey about her past, tacitly accepting of yue’s resigned obligation to her arranged marriage, or attempting to repress her feelings around yue. she would be bold, loud, confident, agentic, and willingly vulnerable, as she is with every potential love interest. perhaps their relationship would still end in tragedy, but it would be anything but quiet.
and if that kind of obvious bombast is what you want out of a romance, then fine, you do you. but personally, the beauty of yue’s role in the narrative to me is specifically how she foils sokka as someone who sacrifices, diminishes, and martyrs herself for the sake of her people. she literally has obligations to her tribe and to her father!!!!! she and sokka inform each other so beautifully because they are so similar and equally constrained by their perceived obligations and lack of agency.
the fact that sokka is who she gets close to whereas katara merely represents a sort of unattainable ideal to her is intentional, it’s part of the point. if yue is sokka’s moon, shining brightly above him but always out of reach, then katara is yue’s moon, kanna is yue’s moon, every woman who had the agency to liberate themselves from this system in which yue has no choice but to participate is her moon. and by becoming the moon, yue sacrifices herself, her humanity, her body, but she also liberates herself, frees herself from the contraints of being a woman in society. she kisses sokka to reclaim her agency, because kissing him as she had wanted to had been denied to her, and now that she is no longer bound to these earthly standards, she finally can.
yes, we are introduced to yue through sokka and not the other way around (i shouldn’t have to explain that that is how basic storytelling sequencing works), but yue is immediately interested in him, sees a kindred spirit in him, longs for him. maybe he is initially struck by her beauty, but he treats her with kindness and humanity, and he never asks for anything from her besides what she is willing to give him (which is the point. they’re at an impasse, and so their tragedy is inevitable. unlike suki, who is willing to take the lead and basically forces sokka into experiencing happiness lmfao). also, for the record, they already are a beautiful butch/femme couple. to me.
but yeah, if you really want to see a bold, courageous girl fight to liberate a repressed, abused girl from the clutches of patriarchal violence, you can just watch revolutionary girl utena free on youtube. in fact, you all should. it’s much better than atla.

Majexatli as a Companion
[Part 1/?]
[Questions from here]
Tumblr media
Where can your Tav be recruited?
Majexatli can be recruited in Act 1. They are found on the Risen Road, by the hyenas. When approaching for the first time, a cutscene will play, in which the player sees a dire coyote eating one of the hyenas and being attacked by gnolls. The dire coyote races after the gnolls beyond the trees and out of sight, allowing the player to investigate the dead and dying hyenas on the road.
After the player begins combat with the hyenas, Majexatli will join initiative, rushing into combat to assist the players from where the dire coyote has disappeared. Once combat ends, Majexatli will introduce themselves and their tadpole will connect with the players, indicating that they too were on the Nautiloid.
Your tadpole squirms in recognition, their fragmented memories becoming your own. Flashes of verdant forests, vast grasslands, kneeling before a gathering of druidic elders, wandering overgrown paths, the title of Faithwarden. With each flash, however, an undercurrent of hunger, growing in intensity with each passing memory until it erupts into something blood-red and razor-sharp.
The Dark Urge will get a unique dialogue option here, relating to the bloodlust in Majexatli’s memories. Druids will also get a unique dialogue with an insight check where they can mentally speculate on Majexatli’s druidic background and note that Majexatli’s druidic armor is very different from most druids. Druid players will also recognize the title of Faithwarden and note the high honor of the title. Rangers can notice that their armor and clothing seem more reminiscent of a ranger than a druid. Clerics can notice their lack of a holy or druidic symbol.
Majexatli will offer their assistance to the player, saying that they are an accomplished druid and alchemist and that they can help navigate the area.
If allowed, Majexatli will either join the player's active party if there’s room, or be told to head to the player’s camp.
Does your Tav have any comments or advice when you recruit other companions?
I can't imagine Majexatli being recruited before some of the origin companions, but I've included everyone anyways for the fun of it.
About Wyll: The Blade of Frontiers... I haven't actually heard of him, I'm afraid. He seems a good man, though, and rather charming...
About Karlach: It's nice to have another tiefling in camp. I imagine she's one hell of a fighter, too, anyone who's lived in the hells has to be.
About Astarion: Hm. I'd keep an eye on the pale one.
About Shadowheart: If I've learned anything during my years, it's that you should always have a healer with you, regardless of whatever they have going on. Shadowheart will be important if we want to stay alive.
About Lae'zel: Lae'zel is quite the warrior, it's wise to have her around. I don't know much about her people, but if she says she knows the cure for our parasites, I'm willing to follow her lead.
About Gale: Stranger as it is, I've never met a wizard. Gale seems quite knowledgeable. He's kind of everything I imagined a wizard would be like, if I'm honest. Very... wizardly.
About Halsin: (sighs) I suppose it's good for Halsin to finally join us, given how long he's been in our camp.
About Minthara: I think it's good to have Minthara with us, as long as she stays on our side that is. I might not agree with everything she says, but she's quite impressive in battle.
About Jaheira: Hm. Another druid.
What sort of general actions raise or lower their approval?
Raise approval: helping people in need, killing people who are abusing power/authority, respecting nature, some violence, survival skills (foraging, gathering plants, gathering loot from killed beasts) being kind to children
Lower approval: senseless cruelty, delighting in the suffering of others, expressing disgust for monsters, abusing authority/power, taking advantage of innocent people, neutrality, maintaining balance or status quo

Part of growing older and considering oneself some kind of “elder” rather than just simply an older person is maturity and patience. I think many people, including you OTNF, are being quite immature with how hostile you’re being towards this chosenwads person.
When you find yourself typing things like “You are embarrassing” to people asking genuine, good faith questions, maybe it’s time to take a breather and simply stop responding. You know, basic emotional regulation.
When you guys get older, we will be the ones explaining stuff to younger people. I don’t think this chosenwads person is sea lioning. I think they’re asking reasonable questions about reclamation, queer history, and morality. Either explain your position without stooping to insults or stop responding.
Here’s my genuine question: when you were younger, did people twenty years older than you insulting you and calling you an idiot actually convince you of anything or increase your respect for them?
--
You seem to have mistaken my blog for a public service or a school.
This is my personal tumblr for screaming about HeiHua or whatever catches my fancy. It's just that in my case, that involves a fair amount of longform text with punctuation, so people get confused and entitled.
If somebody behaves like a bull in a china shop, they're going to suffer the social consequences. It's not an intentional punishment or moral retribution: it's how socializing works.
As for "good faith"... Well... I agree none of those questions were self-aware-ly malicious, but at the point you're like "Yes, but the authority you just said you found unreliable did a lot of research so I'm going to ignore what you just said and repeat my dumb point" and repeatedly asking to be spoon-fed information, you're not really operating in good faith.
Disagreeing is fine.
Expecting other people's time to belong to you is not good faith.
Even if they've already given you some time, it doesn't indicate that they owe you even more ad infinitum.
And that's what's going on here, especially in the ten thousand replies.

Shang Tsung x Witch Reader: I've Changed
Tumblr media
Context: After finally escaping the void, Shang slips from supervision briefly to meet and request the help of an old friend. (Shaky ass friendship ngl) ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The old wooden clock on the wall ticks, filling the only sound in the empty shop. The short hand lines with the tenth hour, making you relieved to flip your sign close. Another easy day done at your little potion store. Despite the little shack being a bit older and you get few customers each day, you were always proud of your progress.
You were proud to say you changed, once a typical barbaric witch, anew to a positive person. You stopped damning people with cruel spells and toxic potions, now you sold mostly healing/soothing ones, along giving spare lessons to those who wish to learn witchcraft. Sometimes, it's the other way around. There's always new things to learn.
Sweeping the dust off the creaking floorboards, you were startled as you were about to trip over a black ball of fur. "Oh- Raven! Jeez, I didn't see you." A meow was in response, your kitten peeking up at you, the only eye he has shining.
Gently you shooed him away so you could finish sweeping. "I'll give you a snack once I'm done, go on now." You tapped his bottom and chuckle when he runs off.
The welcome chimes of your door ring, abruptly distracting you. "Store's closed!" You groan out. Ugh, can't they see the sign? You kept your thoughts to yourself.
Slow footsteps sounded closer to you. "My, just look at you." That voice! You peer up to see an old face, literally and figuratively. Your hand released the ratchet broom, letting it hit the floor. You felt some sort of nostalgia, yet confusion. "Shang Tsung? All these years... where have you been?" You step closer to him.
The old man explains. His disappearance was caused by the Titaness Kronika after having no use for him any longer, casted outside the realms in some prison. All those years in his absence, you missed him prior to your change, but now he's here. The sorcerer grabs your hand, kissing it gently. One of his ways on showing affection to you when you both were still a duo of despair. "You've aged well." He comments.
Now, he focuses on the old shop. "So while I was missing, you put your devotion into this worn down hut?" The sorcerer asks. You can hear the hidden mockery in his voice. He looks at the potions on the shelves, and you knew he would find them comical. None of them were labelled poison or dangerous, all such themed beneficial items. Part of him was worried you would go soft.
"Yeah, business is well." You state, defending your dignity. "The store's closed, and I still have errands tonight, so I can't quite catch up with you at the mome-"
"I came here for your help, Y/n." Shang Tsung interrupts. Picking up a pinkish elixir, he glances at you with tease. "Love potions?"
"That's for serotonin releases." You remove the bottle from his distrustful hands. You knew he's joking, but it's distasteful. "Love potions are vile. It's no better than going to a bar and spiking someone's drink." You explain in disgust, yet Shang still carries his smirk.
He hasn't changed, of course. I miss him, but I need him to leave. "What do you need?"
"I need your spells, your power, Y/n. The ones that always brought great suffering to those. But great amusement to us." He rubs his gray beard as he requests apathetically. "I plan to keep working with Raiden and Fujin up to Kronika's Keep. If everything goes as my plan, I can rule over many worlds. We can rule over many worlds."
"No." You shake your head immediately. "I'm past all of that. I use my powers and knowledge for good now and I hope that is something you respect. Feel free to do whatever you like, but count me out."
The man is unsurprise, but presses on with you. "Changed for the better? What happened to you?"
"I found faith in the Elder Gods." You shrug. "Along with that, I feel disgusted with my former self. Not that you'd get it, but all those people we hurt..." You cringed and turn away from him in utter shame.
"I assume you're disgusted with me too?" Shang asks.
"Well, yeah, but it's not like you'd stop. And I can't stop you neither."
He agrees with you. Harming others was like his number one hobby other than evil schemes. But if you really have a change in heart, he wouldn't force you. "It saddens me to see that wicked heart turn gold. Oh well. When I get Kronika's throne to myself, I'll have your place beside me - if you want." He offers, circling you with his charming glance. You gave him an annoyed look like he didn't actually heed you.
"You don't have to hurt anyone." He raises his hands. "But you could end up the best enchantress across universes, or better yet, a titaness beside me."
"No, sorcerer." You sigh and deny him again. "I'm happy here. You're my friend, but I don't think I'd be comfortable on the side of a villain. It's fine enough if I just focus on my own thing."
"Very well." He steps back and bows. "I shall be going now before someone notices my disappearance. After my goals, I will return to you just for friendly measures. We didn't speak for a long period after all."
"Okay." A huge part of you wasn't rooting for it, but you were fine with chatting with a friend time to time. "And if you don't and end up fading out of existence, it was always nice having you - minus the malicious activities."
"Likewise, my friend. You were always a fantastic woman." ~~~~~~~~~~~~ A/N for both Wattpad/Tumblr. Mostly just a vent but:
 1. I feel the writer's block coming :') future writings are expected to have less quality as I'm running out of ideas and motivation. I literally had to go back to posting every 6 days instead of 3 so I don't end up running out of posts.
2. A friendly reminder - I'M NOT TAKING REQUESTS.
Not trying to pick at anyone but there's 2 places on both Wattpad + Tumblr that says I'm not doing request, yet people will still request a fic. I admit, I will leave those on read until they message me more times which makes me more annoyed.
I'm down for fun questions/ discussions when I have the time, like if someone wants to talk about our lord and savior, Fujin. But I repeat one last time, I'm not making fics for anyone. You have better authors that will be happy to write for you.

Um how about a Indian reader who believes in sex after marriage sooo when they were in relationship gojo has to kinda suffer (in a funny way) being a herbivore and after there marriage he can't just wait to leave the crowd teasing the reader through the function and it would be more fun if it's an Indian wedding cause we all know ristedar picha na shadi ke pehle chorte hai aur na shaadi ke baad 😆
But getting his hands all over her once they leave them alone
I'm imagining his reaction when reader would cry her eyes out during vidai 😆
Btw new Tumblr user here I got excited knowing a Desi gojo fic writer<3
Feel free to ignore tho
Omggg I loved this request it was soo fun!! Like my literal fantasy came to life here!! I did this request so fast in honor of the Goat's homecoming!!
Masterlist
The Wedding Night
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So you two have been preparing for the wedding for months. Since you had to organize two weddings one Japanese style and one Indian style
When he found out honestly he was quite amused of course but he always respected your decisions. Not without teasing you at every given moment from sexy scenes in movies to books if there were any he would always say "Just wait until the day we get married~" teasing you on how you believed in sex after marriage.
Now the day was finally here, Satoru in a beige sherwani with blue flowers and golden kadhai asdfghjkl.
When you joined the ballroom oh my wearing that royal wedding dress. The red lehenga with gold all over it. Damn, this man fell even harder he didn't even know he could see this day.
After the var mala, You and he sat in front of the mandap now that's where the fun began.
Satoru's slippers were gone in seconds, even the strongest sorcerer couldn't save them.
Your sister got a lot of money in return which made you sigh at both of their behaviors
"Where are my slippers?" Satoru said looking around as you snickered and looked at your sisters (now salis) as one of them wore the slippers. "Jija ji~," Your sisters said menacingly as they tapped on his shoulders making him look around "Oh, you found them? Thank you" He smiled patting one of their head, oh this poor boy doesn't know what is going to happen now as the swiped the slippers as he was about to reach them making he raise his eyebrow. The eldest smiled and said snickering "Nothing in return~" Satoru didn't has a single clue about what she was asking and placed a plate of golgappa from the waiter in her hand. Making you laugh and said "Not that idiot, she's talking about money the neigh(idk what you call it but in my family, they call it neigh or shagun ka lifafa)" "Oh!! Here my sweet sisters-in-law!" He said putting his card in their hands making your and your sister's jaws drop to the floor. "Oh, Beh--" You were about to curse as your elder sister (can be cousin too) covered your mouth. "Not today Y/n."
After the faire and pooja, it was time to play the games. The most intense game of no other. Both of you were so determined to find the ring in the bowl. After, 7 rounds you finally won the first game. While Satoru won the rice game.
At the Dinner, he thought this was the time he finally would get you alone. But unfortunately for him all your relatives when to meet you.
You two were sitting together while the whole family sat on the larger table as Indian dishes were served as the relatives started to come from one of your closets first. First were from your mother's house who came and fed you two a bite of the food (The custom where like the relatives feed you one bite showing their love towards the bride and groom) "Hai mera beta itni badi hogayi," Your Mama said feeding you two a bite as you turned to Satoru and introduced him to your uncle " 'Toru, This is My Mama the one I told you about." You said as Satoru nodded and smiled at him "Yes I remember, Namaste sir" "Oh don't call me sir, I'm your Uncle now boy!" You Uncle fist-bumped your newly wed husband welcoming him to the family as he leaned to your ear and whispered "Hindi seekh raha hai?" He asked as you giggled and nodded "Abhi tak sahi chal rahi hai classes"
Oh, that was just one of them, and many more from both your mother's and father's side. You introduced those who were left in the group photos
After the whole dinner, there was part of the vidai when you both were leaving to go to your hotel. After the whole energetic wedding now everyone had a solemn look as he looked at you hugging your mother and crying your eyes out. Much to say he was amused he was omg he was so confused he thought you didn't want to go but you had lived with him in Japan.
Getting in the car this mf would be 100 perc. be dramatic saying that you didn't love him and broke his heart, and like he never knew you didn't want to live with him. As you explained that is why you were crying. As you two drove to your hotel. Now finally married.
Ohhhh! Here's the fun parttt!! The suhag raat!!
Satoru finally gets you alone when he finally lifts your veil like in the old Bollywood films looking at your beautiful face decorated with gold jewelry as he kissed you so softly and passionately which of course you gladly returned.
The funny part is that he won't still be able to do what he wants, for actually taking off your clothes he and you would take out the jewelry, safety pins, and makeup for like half an hour.
Oh, he would just be soo fucking touchyyy like literally would seduce you when he helped you take off your safety pins. like squeezing your waist or your inner thighs. Well, You know what happened next right? ;)

I'm not completely sure how I'm going to get this all organized properly from the stuff that comes out of my brain, but I'm going to try my best- bear with me.
To me, and I know for a lot of other people, Aziraphale is perfectly representative of the experience of religious trauma. For those of you who don't know what that's like, I'm here to explain, based on my own experiences.
For a lot of people suffering from religious trauma, our experiences start when we're very young, we are raised inside the church. As a child inside the church, you are heavily taught to respect your elders and to never question authority (sound familiar?) For me, I was really good at listening to and believing the things my family and the other adults in my life would tell me.
Along with the concept that children in church are heavily advised to listen and obey, we are also raised to be completely dependent on God and the church's teachings, nothing is more important than withholding our relationship with God and obeying the word of the Bible. (Also sound familiar?)
We are raised being constantly reminded of and told to follow these rules, and we do, why? Because we will burn for all eternity in Hell if we don't. Imagine an adult sitting in a room telling a group of six year olds that if they don't listen to a book, they will suffer eternally. This is how we were roped into living this life so obediently- they scared us to submission.
You can see this in heaven, telling the angels to always be obedient and follow God's lead, and having the fallen used as a weapon to scare remaining angels into submission. They have been taught this since the very beginning, to always follow God, and to never ask questions. And the angels now? They've seen what happens to those who ask questions.
Aziraphale was always a good and obedient angel, just like the rest of them after the fall. He believed and followed everything he was taught because it was a he ever knew, and he witnessed what the punishment would be like for him if he didn't. Children of the church are the same.
He believes these things so deeply, and trusts so much in God that even the being he loves most, Crowley, can't get in the way of that. No amount of temptation or abuse could get him to truly realize that everything he once knew is not really as it seems. Because it is the only thing he knows, I cannot preface that enough, it's all he knows.
It's all I ever knew when I was growing up, all I never knew was obedience under the Lord and I will forever be loved, and that's a big thing for people, being loved; and in this, it's big for our little angel too. He's desperate to be loved and he's working for it in the only way he knows.
And we do see Crowley throughout s1 and 2 tempting Aziraphale and making him do things that heaven would not particularly like, but so far, Aziraphale is not at a point where he can truly realize what is being done to him.
The church, and heaven, manipulates us, and like I said before, it's all we've ever known, and learning that we were raised unjustly in a manipulative and abusive environment that made themselves seem so warm and loving is a shocking thing for us. But isn't that what abuse is?
Aziraphale has been abused and manipulated for over 6000 years, and if you know anything about abuse, especially associated with one's childhood, it is really hard for someone to accept that someone they love, and believed they were loved by, is abusing and manipulating them.
That's it, that's what Aziraphale is doing. Even after I realized all the hurt my family put me through in the name of God I still kept running back to them, I still kept defending them, and I still kept telling people it was all ok, even though it hurt so much to do. Because it is all I knew. It was the only place I felt truly loved, even if it was all a lie.
That's the relationship Aziraphale has with heaven, he's not abandoning Crowley, he just hasn't fully understood the full story of how much Heaven has truly hurt him. Crowley sees it, witnesses it, was victim to it and he tries to tell Aziraphale that, but Aziraphale is still blinded by the way he has lived for 6000 years.
I lost people I loved in my life because of the blind obedience I was raised with, Aziraphale is losing Crowley because of that, and I can never ever be mad at him because I know what that's like, I see it, I experienced it, and it's ultimately the thing that brought me to tears the most.
Even to this day I still find myself defending my family for the things they did to me, even now knowing how wrong it was, don't be mad at him, really, it's not his fault.

The Sign Ep8, had sooo much packed in, so this fan needed a night’s sleep to fully process what they learnt. So here is an usually long (for me) string of random thoughts and comments:
The first one is more of an ongoing reminder that Doc/Prince will be a douche bag for eternity. He can’t be redeemed, sorry, not sorry. I don’t know if nagas have ears but I want to shout, sign or sky write “His Just Not Into You”😡😡 😡😡Oh wait I forgot he doesn’t care 🤬🤬 (douche)
The monk is always watching (awks but also what a save) and he is a relative/respected elder, cool. 😵🙏🏿📿🫨🫨🫨😮‍💨
Phaya’s D put Tharn into the best & deepest night’s sleep EVER, cause what the actual Tharn!!! Wake the F up and hold him (more to come on that point)🫣
Yai, is the captain of this ship and we are just here for the ride and to cheer with him.🥰🥰🥰😂🥰🥰🥰
This team of specialist cops don’t do anything by halves, they will comically lose a boxing match to placate their partner/loves or ask them to move in after one night. (Yes I know it was quite a night, refer back up to the point about Tharn’s much needed sleep) 😜
Sharing clothes is something they need to do, mostly works in Tharn’s favour and Yai doesn’t have to see that again🥹😂
Tharn & Phaya have a long, complex, beautiful but tragic history and they need to break the cycle.✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅ However why does this mean they can’t follow simple instructions? Always watching Monk clearly instructs - “Don’t go near any large bodies of water!!” A few moments later…. Phaya & Tharn being soulmates near a large body of water (yes, I know they were there on a case etc but come on😫😫😫). So you’re telling me none of these highly trained and qualified cops checked a MAP!!! Followed by then maybe swapping which location they investigated? 🤔😒🧐. Now we have to wait a week to suffer the angst of the fallout😩 (stay strong)
Phaya - how did you seriously forget already that Tharn and Wansarut are the same person/soul?! Have you had too many bumps to the head or is it because your oxygen deprived?
Sister I hope you moved on from the Prince/Doc douche bag after all that? Please say you did?!
The last but great learning which all the above pale in comparison to, is how irked the fandom was that Tharn didn’t hold Phaya after the “bad dream”. Lord people just didn’t get why..
It’s funny to see the first takes (live reactions) on the night after:
There was the obvious we will claw your eyes out for more kisses
go beyond delulu for some more pink and purple lighting and
stop Tharn from running away and hiding. We need affection and happy boyfriend/soulmate era
What we initially thought we got was, if you are not hugging, holding and squeezing your soulmate after a bad dream, followed by some more of the best pink and purple lighting we have seen in awhile, like why are you even here Tharn?! (affectionate but also confused)
A few parts later….
The Fandom take after the past lives part (I loooooooveeeeedddd this whole part sooo much), anyway the reveal completely shifted the night after take to:
screw kisses (to an extent),
pink and purple lights not needed (for now, there is more to life right?!) and
hugs and holding after are so last year!
You gave him your last breath and soul to protect him, even now. You kept your promise in a convenient yet stylish necklace. (Don’t mind us losing our minds over here)
Tharn you may have just reinvented romance and our expectations of what should come after some pink and purple light shenanigans 🥹😭😭😭🥰🥰🥰🥹🥹🥹🥹
This whole episode series is a masterclass in many aspects that I haven’t even touched upon cause my brain tends to run emotional and silly first. Anyway I have seen and read so many wonderful analyses from other in the fandom, keep them coming they are appreciated.
For this week this fan needed to remember in all the tension (so many high stakes end of week BLs right now), there is always a reason for every reaction and action (most of the time). May not be your first choice or desire but it will truly, madly, deeply mean something.
So to close, next week Phaya let’s try this again, wake up asap, stop Tharn from leaving you (stay calm), yes Tharn is your soulmate the same one (time to share what you know?!), you can’t get rid of Doc douche bag his immortal (sucks when your enemies prosper), never take that necklace off (it’s designed for efficiency and effectiveness, just requires wearing), avoid water unless you have said necklace on (we know you like it 😉🫣). Got it?! Great, I look forward to you only taking at least three of those solid and clear instructions to heart next week. We do love you but you got to meet us halfway dude!!!
Looking forward to learning some more next week.

title: when the victor sleeps
summary: You do your best to stay up to wish Lilia a happy birthday.
ship: Lilia x gn!reader
word count: 1,234
note: Im very late for this fic but got busy so uhhh happy belated birthday Lilia!!
Read on AO3!
Tumblr media
Before you realize it, a yawn escapes past your lips. You cover your mouth as if to hide your crime. But it's already too late. You can feel those red eyes boring into you without having to glance to your side.
When you give into your curiosity, you find Lilia with his legs crossed, arm propped upon one and head resting in his hand. When your eyes meet, he says nothing. You both know by the look he gives you that he's been right all along. He just wants you to admit it.
"You really should get some sleep," he speaks in a soft tone as if he's trying not to wake you up already.
You shake your head. "Less than an hour to go, right? I can stay up a while longer."
Staying up to midnight is an easy task for you. Whether it be due to finishing homework or being dragged into some stupid plan your friends had in mind, it happened fairly often. Perhaps too often. Sometimes you find yourself staying awake longer than you'd like as you've gotten used to being up in the late hours.
Tonight your body fights against such nocturnal urges. Having been rudely awakened by Grim far too early followed by Ace and Deuce dropping by under the excuse of wanting to start the new year early had caused you to lose hours of sleep. For any other day, it wouldn't be a crime. But tonight is special.
"Falling asleep won't hurt you, my dear," he hums. "This comes around every year."
"But only once," you protest. "Once a year we get to celebrate you. And I don't want to miss out on it."
"Is it really still tradition to wish for a happy birthday at the stroke of midnight?" He shuts his eyes and tries to recall a time when this last happened to him. Celebrating birthdays only mattered to those he watched over and only recently himself. Old friends never did such a thing, but things were so different back then. And the young ones he raised never shrieked on following their sleep schedules.
"I dunno, but I want to do it," you answer with a small smile. "I get to wish the old man a happy birthday and new year at the same time, before anyone else!"
"If you are acknowledging my age, shouldn't you respect your elders and listen to this old bat's wish already?"
You huff as he makes a point. But you're already so close. You're not even that tired, or so you tell yourself. Of course, your body would say otherwise. Swinging your legs helps keep you active but the action is surprisingly draining. You doubt you can keep it up for long.
"I can go to sleep afterwards."
Your response gets a tsk-tsk from Lilia. That stubborn energy of yours can be so deadly sometimes. And if you won't listen to his pleas, then he has his own tricks up his sleeve to beat you at this little game of yours.
He leans back, setting his legs straight. A hand reaches out to slide around your shoulder. With a surprisingly gentle force, he tugs you down to have your head rest on his lap.
"Stubborn little humans should listen to their elders. Especially you," he says rather fondly. A hand rests upon your forehead to keep you in place. "As much as I adore your determination to stay awake, it pains me to see you suffer."
You want to say you're not suffering and if you are it's not that big of a deal. A little lack of sleep won't kill you. Yet you find yourself so comfortable lying down. It's what you've been avoiding this whole time. You knew your body would relax the moment you gave into this temptation. Although you never imagined using Lilia's lap as a pillow in this situation.
With a red glow cast upon your cheeks, you gaze up to the one who captured you. His red eyes hold so much yet you can only find a tender look thrown your way. That mischievous smile that usually dawns his face is replaced with a sweet, longing one.
"Pardon if I'm a tad rusty. It may have been years on your end, but for me it feels like months since I've last done a performance like this."
He clears his throat and you only raise a brow in response, waiting for him to continue.
The room is silent and all you can hear are the breaths he takes in. He shuts his eyes like before, straightens his back, and begins to gently run his fingers across your forehead.
Then, he begins to sing.
It's a foreign song to you. Your best guess is it's a lullaby from his homeland or who knows where. With his vast knowledge it really could be from anywhere in this world. While you may not know its origins, you enjoy the song. The sound of his voice is soothing to your weary ears. The lyrics cast a spell over you, making the sleep that you've been fighting off for so long begin to win.
"No fair..." You mumble, weakly. Your world is already disappearing before you. The longer he goes the harder it is to break free. And honestly? You doubt you could even if you weren't this tired. "Your voice is...lovely..."
And just like that, you lost the game.
Lilia knows when you've fallen asleep, yet he continues his lullaby. Your even breathing doesn't go unnoticed but like every good singer, he must finish this song for you even if you can't fully appreciate it. When he finishes, his eyes open to see your peaceful, sleeping figure.
He hates to pull his gaze away from yours but his old age doesn't allow him to know the exact time.
"You almost made it," he chuckles.
He can already hear you scolding him for cheating. But could you blame him? Humans need their sleep. The last thing he wants is you losing lack of sleep over him.
"Next year, I'll let you win. Maybe~" He hums and lowers himself to peck your forehead. "Your life is short and you should care for yourself before others. I can't have you falling so soon."
He knows you have plenty of years left. But for him it will be over in the blink of an eye. If he has to cheat a little in order for you to get a longer lifetime, he will. The action may seem so minuscule to others, but it means so much to him.
Lilia appreciates what you would do for him, to go this length and spend time with him. It's adorable with how hard you try. You don't have to do anything for this old bat, yet you do. You always do something for him.
The sound of booming echoes in the distance. It's officially another year. It's a shame neither of you are truly celebrating, but he doesn't mind it. He spent his last moments of the year with you and now the beginning. Despite your loss, he would consider it a win for you. You accomplished your goal without even realizing it and left a mark upon his heart.
"No matter how many years go on, I will always remember you. I'm looking forward to the future years and birthdays to come."

One thing is even if naruto acknowledged itachi's words not bearing everything alone that doesn't matter to Sasuke bc naruto is align with the system, like him also his friends they are blinded by WOF of Konoha, so they can't understand why Sasuke's revolution is important
Sasuke understands that the ninja system and missions based on usage of warfare, spying and proxy wars and WOF created autocratic blind and extreme nationalism like hokage's words are final laws who can change anything on a whim or may not reform anything from past hokage's mistakes as their blind amoral loyalist nationalism refrain them for any reform the best examples are
Hiruzen who did not reform anything for uchiha or Naruto who still teaches children endure and die for the village bc they are your family, child soldiers custom, unnecessary chunin exam ,
so for these reason sasuke can't align himself with these villages bc they have different types of ultra nationalist propaganda like WoF from Konoha, WoR from Iwa etc. where you can't choose different ways of life even if those ways of yours are harmless to the overall village population and you can't follow or advocate your ways bc corrupt and prejudiced and autocratic kage and elders will not let you go against any custom of shinobi as you just have to act and endure like a blind loyal tool without no question according to those kage and elders otherwise you will be executed or marginalized in your respective village even accept being bullied and shunned and hatred from villagers for their war trauma scapegoat like mainly kekegenkai clans and jinchurikii , you have to endure oppression from shinobi system and its shinobi and kage bc enduring for greater good and greater goals means being ninja that lies being align with the village where you can't advocate individual or certain group rights otherwise you will be targeted by corrupt and fascist and nationalist and autocratic people like Onoki, Danzo, Raikage, tobirama, Hiruzen and konoha elders and Suna elders, Kurotsuchi etc. who will do anything to maintain their respective village hegemony many examples in the whole naruto series for such these scenarios and mindsets and principle values for examples:
1.rin dying for greater of the village without relying on kakashi as she is blindly indoctrinated from the childhood even kakashi in the waves arc saying how "we" as shinobi are
2. Itachi being indoctrinated with blind nationalism of WOF which clouded his moral judgement and couldn't help him saying how segregation and confinement to one job were dangerous policy from authority and pure injustice for Uchiha and then daily bad words from villagers, even tho Uchiha also suffered so much from wars and missions and invasions
3. Sakumo hatake's suicide, amegakure and small villages being pillaged, naruto being shunned, jinchuriki practice, zabusa and haku's yuki caln genocide, uchiha clan genocide, iatchi and shisui immoral spying on their own people, neji's father death, hyuga slavery and curse, Madara being ostracized by tobirama from being hokage bc of sharaingan power without given any chance and proof for at least as beginner, child soldiers practice, immoral anbu spying practice, supressing your emotions for missions, glorifying your ancestors as Gods and WOF like propaganda without knowing their bad sides and betraying or opposing and leaving village means death, hokage's words and judgement are constitution no one can oppose, covering uo genocide, grooming and indoctrinated child soldiers in exteme belief of WoF propaganda like itachi, shikimaru, rin, naruto etc. and so on
Sasuke knew most of the people live in this shinobi framework which destined to bring disaster and inhuman and injustice to certain groups of people and individuals and disagreeing to opposition and different views where change and reform can't be possible in the long run as they all are in village circle blinded by this propaganda and shinobi system which is casuing child soldiers practice, jinchuriki practice, various tragedy, bullying, mass killing, genocide, systematic and direct oppression, cycle of hatred among clans, individuals and villages in the shinobi frame work, for the sole reason why Sasuke have to be alone for his revolution bc whole shinobi worlds are blinded by shinobi customs and propaganda in shinobi framework or shinobi system
So to cure the darkness that shinobi system created without time to time reform or fact checking, Sasuke have to be alone bc everyone is blinded by the system and stupid enduring meaning of the shinobi, so revolution is important no bloody it is bc people alrady died bc of this blind nationalist system that created only violence after violence down the line, either you maintain and judge it with impartial executioner like Sasuke or abandons this fascist and stop being ninja,
Being alone is necessary for Sasuke's revolution bc all of the shinobi people are blinded by shinobi village system, even in peace time child soldier still in practice where children still taught in ninja academy about fighting but not history of its dark side, in konoha shinden mirai still glorifies 3rd hokage without knowing his dirty secret and many house women talking about their children being in ninja academy but why chidren needs to go to ninja academy or shinobi missions only adults can go as it is peace time meaning nor kakashi nor naruto did not change a thing still practicing child soldier shinobi custom, bc of this non changing mindset of shinobi from these villages which is why Sasuke has to bear his Revolution alone so he could slowly uprooted it little by little and thus he can completely change the past of this shinobi village system no he will slowly destroy it to the core until shinobi start to live like normal civilian people so past will be totally transformed slowly
For sole reason why sasuke has to bear darkness alone in his revolution as darkness of the village causes proxy and cold wars or genocide or cycle of hatred, personal tragedy, brainwashing people immorally etc. which causes more and great war geopolitically down the line in the shinobi world and why changing the past of the shinobi system is necessary as everyone is blinded by the system
so in easy term sasuke has to do his revolution solely alone to be impartial as everyone is blinded by the system and behaves like blind brainwashed tool where no will understand his point how dangerous they have become under shinobi system and by becoming a darkness that darkness that shinobi system has been using for its villages hegemony and its interest and to destroy the past that current shinobi system has been based upon that caused so many inhuman acts and injustice that made everyone blind and ignorant to the truth and humanity and created paradoxical aspect in its nature and core

The First Tear (2/3) by vxredmption(Warmund)
A COTL AU fanfic writing for @gorjee-art COTL AU (All properties, AUs, concepts, imagery, etc. go their respective owners.)
Narinder tapped their chest with a open palm as he talked, then gripping a tight fist across it as he looks down with a deep frown at the end of his tangent, the silent lamb god still not noticing them. "Your own followers try to call back to when you were not like this: a Elder God who has not taken even a whisper for consideration... to forfeit their mortal emotions as to achieve their purpose that they truly do not understand.... not in this forsaken realm or any other!" His voice echoed in the stillness of the forest, the sun fully now setting across the deep foliage of the ancient land. Very soon, a few stars across the darkened skies would show, fireflies would emerge distant yet visible around the smallest of flowers to the tallest wild grass, the moon cresting over the great sky and providing light to a loud white shade of a follower and a darkened god whose red eyes upon their massive horns stared upwards... unblinking and still.
"You, of all beings, have fallen so far from own principles that you became the very thing you have sworn to kill and usurp, renewing promises for a better life and death! Well... I say these same words again to you from the very first year of my indocteration to your so called 'promises': Hypocrite! Manipulator! False God!... YOU. DAMMNED. LAMB!" The voice of Narinder has never reached such tones of anger before, only doing so once when the Lamb themselves have resisted in giving the Red Crown to him at their Realm of Death. For the likes of the Preacher of the New Faith, this feeling of betrayal, anger, and anguish matched with the Lamb in that singular event, so close that it was a mirror to a past the two sought not recrate upon some years of reconciliation and being reaffirmed to the "The New Faith". The matter of it being Narinder's side didn't seem to be ironic... as no one else but a still god could judge and hold him accountable for it.
Centuries of waiting was still left to be undone by Narinder, all of his red eyes glowed behind his mask as he calls out to his still silent God, his face at the verge of splitting itself apart along with the hood he wears from the sheer anger he is experiencing, tensing every muscle he has in the moment. "Why was this not enough for you?! I had brought you back from the dead to undo a prophecy that saw your entire kind killed, their blood leading up to my siblings! You had a chance to do the same suffering to me when I betrayed you! Why show me and my siblings any compassion and patience, knowing well what the cost of godhood truly is?! We have tried to follow your ways! We have followed you with this mortal flesh you once had... and we get NOTHING FOR IT IN THE END! NOTHING! ONLY SILENCE!"
It was in this deep boiling anger did Narinder tried to do one more act to try to make the Lamb God turn to him... a act so heinous for even the likes of the preacher could possibly imagine within that moment. He raised his gifted shepherd staff high with both hands, arm raised and baring his teeth as he soon starts to bend the ends apart to themselves with all he could. The staff was made of strong ancient oak... but even it was starting to bend from the strength the mortal feline has within that moment. The bells on the top of curve shook from his efforts, the middle curving slowly upwards to the sky as with any rate, a gift that had once been a sign of true devotion and appointed leadership for the the Lamb's cult, would soon be broken. Narinder breathed hard from his teeth... inching the breaking point of the staff closer and closer... cracking from within... and then... he freezes. His red eyes stopped to see the reflection on the bells, still so pristine from a time in where the Lamb was once a farmer in his homeland... still the same bells used and polished throughout all these years without seeing any signs of wear from its use... and he was going to break what was the only thing that reminded himself that the Lamb's true self was still with him for all those years. He quickly relaxes his arms, soon placing the staff on the ground to his side as he leans to it, breathing hastily with shivering fingers. His lower supporting hand slides down a little on the staff... and notes a slight imperfect quality now within the staff's strong median core... damage that was not easily fixable due to it being too small to be done by artisanal hands, but ever noticeable by the ones who have used it for their lifetime. Or for this case, several lifetimes of use. Narinder’s eyes widened on damage he would have caused, silent with his rasping breath... then... he stifled a shivering sigh... followed by sombering mewling whimper from the top mouth. "I... I... I am... sorry, Lamb... The one who showed me compassion again... the one who made care for my siblings from troubling times and times of rest... the one who has entrusted me to not only watch their flock... but to care for them as if they... were my own. To think, if I were a lesser follower... I would've broken your greatest gift upon me before your final ascension... I... just wish you to know, if you’re still there, on behalf of the cult under your name, on my very heart: We miss you... I miss you, my Lamb..." From there... silence... then sniffling sounds are heard from Narinder... tears soon streaming down his face as he could no longer hold in his sorrows for his once living Lamb that stood before him, shadowing over him like a great pillar against a pebble. All he could muster was a whisper as to avoid bawling full strength from his eyes with each syllable, so deep was his sadness for the closest being he could call a friend... and never did he get the chance to admit it to them before their ascension. "I-I... just want to s-see you smile... just once more... m-my… Lamb….” . . . . Slowly, the great eyes of Great Lamb's horns shifted a little and looked towards the crying figure behind them... the incense from the Lamb God's holy censer slowly stopped flowing... a slight shift of their head turning towards the sound of crying that is now being noticed to them... a slow, gentle step is heard beneath the large cloak as their body shifted a foot from where they stand. Narinder didn’t notice this as his head hung low, his crying breath being the only thing he hears upon this night. The Lamb... heard a voice... The Lamb... felt their heart heavier through their cold, ichor black ribs... skipping beats like crackling ice through sunlight... making them feel... like the mortal Narinder.
End of Part 2 (Attached the first page to this one... will need to figure out how to stylize it better... ahh well. Here you go!)

Greetings, Respected Tumblr Elder. I am curious to hear your thoughts on Colonel Brandon's character in Sense and Sensibility (all hail Alan Rickman, first of his name, etc). I recently read some Hot Takes(TM) that described him as "creepy" due to the age gap between himself and Marianne. The Hot Takes(TM) also criticized Brandon for what they perceived as his projection of his past love onto Marianne, rather than acknowledging her actual personality. I don't find the age gap argument convincing--seems like a matter of personal taste and cultural context--but I have not reached conclusions about the "projecting your obsession onto this girl" accusation. I'm inclined to say that Brandon recognizes Marianne's naivete and her vulnerability to Willoughby's manipulation precisely because he's watched his former love go through something so similar. But I'm not sure. Thoughts?
Greetings! Being greeted as a respected elder makes me feel as though I should live up to this more strenuously, but thank you. Also, yes, all hail the late lamented Mr. Rickman; as a prolegomenon to this reply, let us contemplate:
Tumblr media
These appropriate ceremonies concluded, I shall continue, disavowing (as usual) any special knowledge. My qualifications consist entirely of 1) non-zero grad coursework in modern British history 2) a habit of overthinking things.
At the risk of digressing too much from the point at hand (!), I do think that Colonel Brandon suffers particularly from Jane Austen's reputation for writing romance novels. Austen is writing in/about a context where the marriage market as such is a thing and romance -- to say nothing of Romanticism -- can be actively dangerous. Outside the working class (obviously a caveat that leaves out the majority), marriage is simultaneously the only way for many women to achieve economic stability, and something that renders them acutely, terrifyingly vulnerable. And personally, I think Sense and Sensibility may be Austen's most pessimistic novel. In absolute terms, for this cultural context, I would say that Colonel Brandon's age is neutral. It renders Marianne less likely to view him as a prospect, and this is treated as natural. Also, it makes Colonel Brandon view himself as a less likely prospect for her! No one in this novel views a 20-year age gap as normal. But simultaneously, Elinor views him as a Nice Steady Option for her very sweet younger sister, someone who would not only look on Marianne's enthusiasms with tolerance, but for whom they would be a welcome source of joy and pleasure... of both of which he has had very little in his life. (This is where it becomes obvious that I love the Marianne/Brandon pairing because it gives both halves of a somewhat unlikely pair everything they most need and deserve in the other. I'm emotional about it.)
For comparative evidence of a Creepy Older Man in the Austen corpus, we need look no further than General Tilney. And I mention this because it is evidence that the potential for middle-aged men to be gross and predatory towards young women is not something which Austen overlooked. The fact that Willoughby is the unsuitable suitor is something of a narrative subversion: he is young and gallant and well-read and extremely hot. But whereas readers, especially those with romantic sensibilities, might expect Brandon to be the one with too close an eye on the financial dimensions of the marriage market, using his estate to make a bid for the beautiful but impoverished Marianne, it is Willoughby (ugh) who makes a mercenary upward marriage, and who comes very close to ruining Marianne's reputation in the process. Brandon, meanwhile, has very profound romantic feelings. We just don't see them very much because he acts "whatever he might feel... with all the firmness of a collected mind."
As for the projection thing... no, I don't think so. Brandon is, certainly, influenced -- I don't think traumatized is too strong a word -- by Eliza's experiences, and thus particularly sensitive to the dangers Marianne faces. Also, arguably, we see in Eliza's marriage to Brandon's brother a sort of alternate version of Marianne's future: would marriage to an older man doom her to boredom and thence to scandal and thence to ruin? But I think Colonel Brandon's backstory can be read part of an Austenian jest... or if not a jest, at least a narrative subversion. Because Marianne is looking for a Romantic hero! She gravitates towards Willoughby: tall, dark, handsome, unjustly kept from an inheritance, given to riding around in thunderstorms. Full marks. But meanwhile, we have Colonel Brandon! He had an early, passionate attachment which was disapproved of by society! He has a backstory of pining and loss! He swoops in to rescue tragically abandoned women! He even fights a duel! When Marianne learns of this, she is sufficiently softened to speak to Colonel Brandon "with a kind of compassionate respect." It just so happens that all these characteristics of a Romantic Protagonist™ are found in the person of a slightly sad, very steady, unshowy man on the threshold of middle age. And then there is the fact that he does not press his suit. He is friendly and kind to all the Dashwoods, so neutral that people presume he is interested in sensible Elinor. He could swoop in with a Heroic Offer Of Marriage because Marianne's beauty and health have been spoiled, but no, he just sits around assorted drawing rooms, yearning. Well, yearning and finding outlets for his feelings in enabling for others (Edward and Elinor) the happiness he believes he will never have. I love him.
