Before you say no duh, remember that we need studies like this to quantify things for planning, government policy, and court cases, and also to help convince people who's minds aren't already made up.
I know I struggle to breath in heat like this, and hypoxia kills, especially when cars are involved.

Using mobility aids as a young person is having kids walk in front and run into them.
For some reason parents will often not correct their kids and leave it to me to either:
a) move my mobility aid out the way of their child
or
b) wack their child with my mobility aid
PLEASE teach your kids to make extra space for people using mobility aids, even if the person using them is a young person.

Share to keep her memory alive
This is Ruth, a 16 years old teenager with physical and intellectual disability. Like many in her age, she liked to dance and meet new friends. Her dad, Arik, took her to parties and raves.
In the picture: Ruth and her dad in a rave.
Tumblr media
They were at the Nova festival during the Black Saturday of 07/10.
When the shooting started, Arik took Ruth in his arms, leaving behind her wheelchair, and ran for their lives. He refused to leave her behind.
The wheelchair was found burnt about a week ago, but there was no sign of Ruth and Arik.
We prayed for good news. For them to be found - wounded, kidnapped, but alive.
I got the news last night.
Their bodies were identified yesterday. They were buried today.
And I'm asking - you say it was done for freedom.
Yes, I remember the last time people with disabilities died for "freedom"
(somehow, we are never part of it)

This is a big deal. Elon Musk just fired everyone who can make life easier for people with disabilities, everyone who represents people with disabilities. The people who could save a someone's life.

Aren't we all just haunted?
Children whose childhoods were missing something?
Some of us food, warmth, a roof
A smile, a heart, an ear
What about jokes, stories, punch lines?
Aren't we all just missing a little something?
That grade, that school, that diploma
The right parent in the right place with the right paycheck
Braces, glasses, therapists
Someone who hears us when we say who we are
Name, gender, pronouns
This is how I love and this is how I process the world
Aren't we all just the kids who grew up missing something and still looking for it?
Peter pan didn't prepare me for this
Maybe the lost boys can explain "chronic"
Or Wendy can tell someone about "ambulatory"
Or how Nana saw more than we could ever speak
Oh the stories that dog could tell
There's a little bit of darling in each of us
Take a moment and listen to that view

Have something you want to tell your Senators? If you can't safely protest in person, here are some other options:
Call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to the representative of your choice.
Here is one that will send your reps a fax: https://resist.bot/

As a child going to the supermarket, the challenge was to leave the store without bags of candy. Now, as a single adult, the challenge is going through the aisle of fresh fruits and vegetables and limiting yourself to only buying 1 or 2 (the cheapest of course even though you'd like your favorite ones) because you don't have enough money to spend on a variety of fresh produce.

Awe, cute queer dancing couple choreo. Oooo wheelchair and other disabled dancers also!
Hell yeah Sam Rider. Who choreographed/cast for this? I love it!
I was so busy watching it I didn't take screenshots haha. This is one to look up! I've never seen dancers with prosthesis on stage at something this big before!,

I was in a public transport and a random girl fell asleep on my shoulder. She, half asleep, then mumbled if it was okay to sleep on my shoulder. "Of course", I said. But that's one of the kindest and beautiful things happened to me that day. Whenever I remember this incident, it still brings a bright smile to my face. Much love to that girl. People, specifically the college and university students, are so mentally, emotionally, and physically ground by this academic pressure these days. And I can feel this burnout even in my soul.

Hello Tumblr! I need your help to make something good happen - it’s super easy and I don’t need any money.
So I’m planning to create a VR program that will allow the user to experience the most beautiful, awe-inspiring corners of this planet as realistically as possible from the comfort of their own home.
The reason why I want to create this is because we are all creatures of Earth and we should all be able to bask in her divinity, regardless of background or socioeconomic status, but unfortunately not everyone has the resources required for travel, up to and including being able-bodied. There are lots of amazing places on this planet, but some of the best are also some of the most remote - not exactly accessible to everyone, especially people with mobility issues.
This is where I need help: if you have a disability that is a hindrance to you exploring the planet, or if you have a terminal illness and you don’t have time to see everything you want, or even if you are able-bodied and healthy but can’t afford travel - I need you to use either replies, tags, asks, or DMs to tell me where you would go if you could go anywhere. What places do you want to see that aren’t accessible to you? What adventures do you want to go on, what kind of things do you want to see, what kind of challenges do you want to go hard at that aren’t accessible to you? What view do you dream of seeing one day?
Do you want to climb Everest? Do you want to dive in the Mariana Trench? Do you want to see the Great Barrier Reef? Hike through the Amazon jungle? Go zip lining over Niagara Falls? Hang gliding over the Grand Canyon? Tell me about it! Tell me where you want to go and what you want to do, and any little specifics about the experience you’d be most excited about, and I will do my absolute best to recreate it in a VR environment as realistically as possible.
Also, if you can think of anything that may get in the way of being able to wear a VR headset that I should be aware of, and especially if you already have an idea for a solution, please let me know! Please also let me know about any specific accessibility settings I can add that would make for a better experience. I’m already planning to add options for subtitles, colorblind mode, and epilepsy mode.
I will be doing a VR version, but there will also be a regular desktop version for those who don’t have access to VR equipment, and both versions will be free.
I would greatly appreciate this being reblogged/shared as much as possible! I don’t need any funds for this right now, but if you want to help support me in this endeavor, you can follow my art blog: @interstellarmosscryptid. I have a pinned post on my art blog that includes links to all my various webbed sites 😊
