I (F/27) had a seizure in public the other day and it was one of the most embarrassing epilepsy moments I’ve had since I first started having seizures at 19. I’m very appreciative of concerned strangers that tried their best to help but having a fire truck, ambulance, and the cops all show up while random people film me on their phones was humiliating. I haven’t been able to stop obsessing about it and just can’t let it go. How other people dealt with this?
Oh I'm so sorry this happened to you. I guess the best advice I have is you can't control your seizures and you can't control other people's actions. But they had the best of intentions and were trying to help. What helps me I'd advocating for myself. I'm involved in my local Epilepsy Foundation and we work on informing people about Epilepsy and how to respond appropriately. That helps me manage my emotions with it. I suggest contacting your local Foundation, they are a wonderful resource. I can also help you find one near you.
Does anyone else have advice???

Once again I appeal to you guys for a cause close to my heart. I'm walking in my local Stroll for Epilepsy Awareness.
I was diagnosed with Drug Resistant Epilepsy at age 4 1/2 and have had seizures ever since. But despite that, I live on my own, have a job I love, I travel. The Epilepsy Foundation was key to that success, thanks to their constant support and resources. So please, donate if you can. And definitely, reblog and share.

I have a question related to convulsions.
I have convulsions where I am fully aware while it happens. Severe pain or fatigue and low potassium are three things that I know trigger them. I have been told that they can't be seizures because I am alert during, and I have yet to have a doctor follow up.
Do you happen to know of anything similar to epilepsy or any sub-types of epilepsy that might fit that description? (Not looking for you to diagnosis me, just trying to find information on conditions as that could help me find ways to better cope with the convulsions.)
Oh it absolutely be epilepsy and you should totally follow up. I'm completely alert for all my seizures. Only ever had one where my consciousness became impaired.
There's two types of seizures, generalized and partial. Generalized affects the whole brain, which then affects the whole body and impairs consciousness. Partial seizures only affect a small portion of the brain so they only affect a small portion of the body and consciousness is not impaired.
I don't know who your doc was, but any doctor with half ass knowledge about epilepsy would know that. It's the nuts and bolts. For more information, check out epilepsy.com

Heads up to anyone photosensitive, theres a tumblr ad that has RAPIDLY flashing blue and white video. I think its for some radio station or something. I only use mobile version so i dunno if its on desktop, but you might look into an ad blocker just in case. Not sure how you can stop the phone version from appearing though.

I Feel Like You Should Not Be Able To Blaze Posts That Can Trigger Epilepsy, Especially Without The Very Filterable Tags

Idk if this was a a glitch on my app, but wanted people to know that the “Aqua glitter” filter on Instagram is currently having a rapid strobing effect (black/white). This is likely not safe for your photosensitive friends with epilepsy; please do NOT use it
