Character Analysis on Chip Revvington, the Chainsaw Consultant.

Genuine Long Post Warning, as well as a LOT of images. This is going to cover literally everything we know about Chip and my take on what's provided In Canon (being his Cogs Ink profile, his Interview, the 1.3 News Article, and In-Game). This is my first try at an In-depth Character Analysis. Screenshots used are from the official Wiki.gg, In-Game, and from the Corporate Clash News Archive.

Prior to being brought on to lead the Deforester Force, it's shown he's clearly a confident Suit, and has a genuine passion for his line of work as a consultant. With his personal statement alone this can be seen on full display with how he writes about himself, including noting how he's not swayed by bribery in any manner. (also the fact he outright pokes fun at one of the bribes will never not be funny to me)

Not to mention his lack of discipline records throughout his 19 months having already worked for C.O.G.S. with his usual job as an external consultant, this plus the fact he has "positive remarks" from his previous places of work shows he's probably in very high demand and really does excel at his job.

This is also shown in his interview, where he also equally shows a lot of passion for his job and genuine interest with answering questions relating to it. Before we get into that though, I feel like it's important to also point out a couple other things that I think about a lot with his profile.

This, being referred to as the "Temperamental Terminator" in the 1.3 trailer, and considering the average age of a Consultant is ~40+ years (and I personally hc him as 48), I think it's safe to say Chip just always was a quick-tempered individual throughout his life. It's one of his less favorable traits that I personally find charming.

And these read to me like Chip's always been considered "scary" among other suits. His behavior isn't the issue (yet) though, he's just a massive guy who happens to have a chainsaw for a snout.

Which. Makes this very interesting. Jennifer, stated something similar above, but I feel as if her intentions are more... unaware than the actual company's. Jennifer sees a guy with a big Chainsaw and thinks "Oh! He can cut down trees with that!" Jennifer ily. The company on the other hand probably has had this idea of what Chip could be a candidate for. They hired him to lead the Deforester Force. His job consists of him sitting in an office. Nothing relating to physical labor in cutting down trees, he just oversees the process. "Chainsaw apparatus will be helpful [...]" suddenly takes on a much darker meaning, in my mind.

Which is how we get here. Chip being modified with a clearly experimental hardware which we all know as the Personality Override. The fact that it was only "partially successful" is a very fun thing to consider.

Note the fact that from a canon standpoint the Override was implemented "2 weeks ago". This will be important later.

Another fun side-note is the fact that the Override is experimental. It's experimental hardware. Chip is the only one with it. They are using him like a guinea pig. And not to mention "Dealing with Toons far more efficiently" paired with the above company-sourced "Chainsaw Apparatus will be useful [...]", you can't make this stuff up. They turned this guy into a living weapon likely without him knowing the full scope of what would happen if he did get this position in the first place.

Okay. Now we can talk about his Interview. Which even through glancing at it you can see just how passionate he is regarding his work. He is driven and confident that his plans for the Deforester Force will work. He wants to believe that he'll set an example for the rest of the departments to execute a similar plan.

And then this question comes up. And then I have to remind you it's probably been only a couple days since he's modified. And he already has rumors circulating about him.

And the moment the subject is changed, he perks right back up into being passionate about his work.

I also feel like it's worth mentioning the fact he's been actively requesting and wanting Spruce (who recommended him to begin with!!!) to join him in the Deforester Force and keeps being turned down on it. The way this and something else I'm about to touch on are written feels like he's barely been able to see him. These two have a brotherly bond and they're being separated. He misses his brother, man.

That's not even getting into this. Even as I'm writing this I just realized the implications of something at the end of this and I'm going to have to pace around my house thinking about it. But also you can see that even though just the slightest amount of time has canonically passed since the interview, you can already see the toll the Override's been taking on Chip's behavior. While he was once passionate, he's now actively complaining about his job. It's not even about the job itself, it's about what's happened to him.

Not to mention, I feel it also displays his temper in full swing once again- even if he's justified in this sense.

I also need to pay special mind to this ending bit right here because the implication of this with everything else surrounding it fucking broke me. uugghhhhh.

Now this is something I feel is so, so, so important to his character. He actively does not like toons. He clearly shows a certain disgust for them and views them like Animals. Pests. He doesn't hesitate to proudly state his opinion on them. And then you see him in-game.

He hasn't changed his mind about toons at all. Ignoring the fact that "you critters again" insinuates this isn't even his first contact with toons (will get to this later), he's... Restrained. I don't know, this reads to me like he's actively restraining himself from blowing up. "You don't want to see what happens when I get angry." is a warning to just comply and leave.

And then because he doesn't remember he fired the rest of the Deforester Force (another thing I want to touch on), he actively gets upset and angry at the remaining flunky because of course someone as high-rank as himself wouldn't want a Flunky on such an important team. Once again, additionally showing his active temper. His active temper he just tried to restrain and bottle up.

And that's what breaks the camel's back. The Override most likely activates from excessive anger/distress, something that Chip Actively Struggles With. He has to bottle himself up because if he tries to be his usual hot-tempered self, which is who he naturally is, he's just going to lose himself. Lose himself to cog knows how long as being a lifeless machine that perfectly and efficiently complies with the commands its given.

He begs for help when he's able to partially regain control (emphasis on partially, considering the most he can do is speak and prevent Deadwood from happening), but like. Again, to me this reads as the fact he is currently Incredibly Fucking Terrified because he's completely aware the whole time the Override is active. He can see himself acting against his will. It's mortifying. He's willing to beg anyone for help because the Override is genuinely traumatizing for him.

Which makes this all the more harrowing. He can't keep the Override at bay forever (likely the only reason why he partially regained control is from the sheer amount of pain he put himself in by ripping out one of his bulbs. You can see him brace himself and wince when that happens). Once again, "save yourselves" in this context feels more like he's scared. He's terrified. Because the Override sucks. And the implication of "ALL RAM CLEARED" doesn't leave much room to assume anything other than the Override likely clears out Chip's memories in order to make more processing room for this janky hardware to run at a constant overclocked state. I wonder how much of Chip's memories have been removed because of that thing, honestly.

By the way did you know that a normal chainsaw runs an average of 12,000 RPM. Do you think about how the little RPM icon is his saw smoking as if it's overheating. What the hell is the Override doing to him internally.

Another added touch I think about a lot is how his battle as a whole is, for the most part, very predictable. You control what cheats he does. Even in technical battle terms, everything is out of Chip's control. As long as every gag hits, you're really just manipulating an enemy's AI to to make the most optimal choices to your benefit. The Override perceives "X", and responds with "Y". You're not fighting an actual individual, just a program.

Clearly, whatever it's doing to him, it's painful (not mentioning the agonizing scream he lets out during this). And thank Cog he was able to regain control at the last second because it's way too obvious that the Override's "final fallback procedure" likely involved some kind of lethal force when it lunges at the toons. (The Chainsaw Apparatus will be helpful.)

There's no sorrow in Chip's words, that's what I think. Everything here is bitter. It's numb, to me.

He's clearly been through this song and dance multiple times by now. He's pissed at the toons, at the company, and at himself. But he can't properly let it out. You know what will happen if he does. The most he can do is throw a chair and scream into the air. (which that line gets its own custom voice clip, fun fact!)

It's clear he's been isolated ever since he's been upgraded, and it seems like he's bitterly accepted it. The only thing he has left to lose is Spruce, which is why he tells the toons not to tell him. If he loses Spruce...

I don't think he'd have much left. It'd make sense why he's grown so restrained and numb and stilted in his speech. He's quickly grown to learn that he can't let himself express anymore, all because of the override.

The fact that everyone else around him views him poorly doesn't help. His employees fear him. Most of them probably don't realize something is wrong, spread rumors about him, or outright attack him through hatemail. Written in Cipher.

"Chip has some anger issues. I would be careful around him. Don't worry about the Cogs though, I'm sure they'll be fine. Might get demoted back to their initial tier, but that's what happens when you work with Chip. Good thing that Toons can't get fired-- or wait, they can, can't they? Do Toons LIKE getting fired? I will never understand those animals. And you seen Spruce around lately? I haven't. I wonder how his deforesting expedition is going. There is a secret message up ahead in Chip's room. Can you find it? If you are stuck, have you considered looking around your surroundings?"

"I can't stand Chip anymore. I know I'm a Yesman, but I have to say NO. He used to be cool up until his sensors flared off. After what he did to my fellow coworker, I don't know if I can continue working under him. Sure, he's one of the most organized managers I've ever worked with, not to mention the flowing passion he has for the Deforester Force. His personality issues can single-handedly cause all of our projects to collapse. One of my former coworkers had raised concerns about Toons taking over our buildings and ultimately undoing all work that was done on our end. That poor Pencil Pusher overstepped his boundaries with Chip when he admitted his failure to secure "our" project from the Toons. Up until this point, I have never seen a Cog fire another Cog. With a cannon."

"It grinded my gears when I saw that happen. Him and I worked nonstop for days straight, while this pile of bolts just sat there doing his paperwork. I wouldn't be surprised if he was just doing crossword puzzles or writing letters to his little buddy. If you are reading this Mr. Revvington, you are the reason for our decline. We are running out of Deforester Force members because of you. As someone who has gone through close-call battles with the Toons, I hope you experience what it's like to have boulders and anvils fall from above you. You can try to fire me with that shoddy cannon of yours, but you would have to track me down first. I've already left the area and was recruited to a new organization far more stable than you will ever be."

...I genuinely love Mr. Revvington. He's a Suit who's been dealt the worst hand he could possibly ever get in life. He was just like anyone else, and then everything happened ever since joining C.O.G.S.. He's isolated, he's temperamental, he's pissy, he'd genuinely be someone hard to get along with because of the fact he's struggling with all sorts of issues and would be incredibly difficult and annoying to even start talking to and forming a bond with unless you're both stubborn and have patience. He's awful, and I love him for it.

I genuinely believe he's one of the most complex, beautifully written, and depressing characters in Corporate Clash. Maybe I dive way too deep into things about him, maybe he's not that deep at all. But I like to think about him. He makes me emotional, but he also makes me happy. Thank you for making him exist.

Hazbin Hotel: Valentino

🗝️🏷️ RAMCOA, perpetration

I spent a few minutes trying to gather what the controversy around Hazbin Hotel entails, and I did not succeed. So I’m going to keep talking about it, because we already watched it and anyone who hasn’t can find video essays that explain far more than the blips of relevance in the show itself.

Valentino. He is actively engaging in trafficking and exploitation of others, and whether he is causing harm is not the question. He is.

It is the manner in which casual viewers cast judgement upon him that stings. Not ‘casual’ as in watching for fun, ‘casual’ as in unaffected by the themes of the media. People who have never been at either end of organized abuse in any capacity.

It comes back to the discussion of what it means when you talk about an archetype rather than a character. Valentino is an interesting character who can be analyzed in combination with techniques such as lighting, music, and motion. Traffickers and exploitative perpetrators are not the same. Traffickers and exploiters are real.

I can tolerate people relating those identities to the character of Valentino — it raises my hackles because I have trauma, not because of the conversation is necessarily offensive.

I don’t like when people take those traits and decide that Valentino is not redeemable or doesn’t deserve redemption, because we don’t know enough about Valentino to grasp how he became the perp he is — instead, people take the base knowledge that OA hurts people and demeans all perpetrators of OA.

We are perpetrators of OA. In our external reality, we were generationally involved in a religious organization that emphasized the spiritual value of harm. We have been tortured repeatedly until our abusers created a new self who would fit the role they needed. We have been hurt this way since we came into this world as a babe, and we have hurt others since we could walk.

That is a world, several worlds, of pain. It was inflicted because it had been so for hundreds of years, and none were capable of ending the cycle. We left, we are alive, because we got very lucky several times over.

And some of those selves — none of us went away after we formed — identify with Valentino. As it stands, the alignment with abusers (beyond immediate coercion) is familiar, and those selves don’t see media reflecting them often.

We are not perpetrating currently. We are in therapy and working together to heal, but it is slow, hard work. It lessens the shame to see what happened to us happened to others, and those selves were not being bad for surviving.

A lot of the ‘evil’ traits Valentino displays are cluster B Personality Disorder traits. People with cluster B PDs often adapted that way through trauma, because that was how they survived.

Giving those selves dignity and respect despite their behavior allows them space to reevaluate whether they still need those behaviors. They have to learn to override the automatic response they relied on for years, and for us they have to do that while dodging training and torture memories designed to keep them in their place.

We are real. Survivors, multiple or singlet, are real. And the only people who get to forgive perpetration are the victims and the perpetrators.

If you were not our victim, your opinion matters far less to us. If you were neither a victim nor a perpetrator, your opinion might as well not exist. It probably shouldn’t, unless you have some lived or learned experience you’re working off.

When you generalize statements about perpetrators, you are going to hit people who were coerced, adapted to survive, or never learned better. That could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back; healing is the worst, sometimes worse than living it the first time, and there are enough barriers without tossing in a poorly thought out comment in the mix.

Valentino exists only in the media and the interpretations of those who consume it. Survivors, including perpetrators, are real. Please try to be more gentle with heavy topics.

New Spell: Electrokinesis

Update 2023-07-23:

Added German (thank you Crashdown117 💜) and Polish translation (thank you Krzydkowy 💜).

Your witch want to live Off-the-grid but does not want to spam solar panels all over the place (because that is not very magical, isn't it)? Do you find "zip zap" spell disappointing when trying to fry your enemies? Look no further and learn Electrokinesis (level 1 Untamed magic) to unlock two powers:

You can cast "Arcane Voltage" on your sim to generate power on any lot, allowing you to use TV, fridge, lamps and any other muggle device without problems even when off-the-grid. Higher level witches will generate more power. If your witch is charged or overcharged he/she will generate even more power every time they cast "Arcane Voltage". That means that a level 1 spellcaster with no charge or special traits will generate very little power, while a level 4 overcharged spellcaster will generate A LOT of power.

You can also use Electrokinesis against your enemies. Cast "Witch Bolt" on another sim to fry it. Several Witch Bolts against the same sim in a short period of time might be lethal.

Spellcasters with "Draconis Lightning Ancestry" or equipping certain magical artifacts (both coming soon in the next update to "Houses of Witchcraft") will generate EVEN MORE power and become immune to Electrokinesis. Unlike other spells, being charged or overcharged makes Electrokinesis easier to use and more effective.

thought I'd compile a list of some of the current dangling threads we have in link click. specifically, going to ignore the ones that others have gone into detail exploring and just bring up the ones that haven't gotten as much attention but will almost certainly be relevant.

the missing files on the seventh victim of the serial murders from season one. emma was noted as 'victim one' in the files and there were eight in total. if these killings were done by red eyes then all we know of the victim profiles is that they're not seen to be 'innocent' in the culprit's eyes (ofc, we can only speculate what that means, but I'm currently gunning on it being some form of bystander to crime just going by themes*/what we know of emma/the fact the police struggled to find a uniting motive) and there's no set age/gender being specifically targeted. the killer's methods are said to be 'meticulous' (big qian jin vibes there ngl even if the motive part of it doesn't seem to obviously align). anyway, missing files implies an inside job and timing-wise it's unclear if that means qian jin or if chen bin was somehow involved. chen bin apparently was the last to handle the files before passing them to xiao li, but at the same time he doesn't react in a particularly guilty manner when xiao li asks of the missing file. meanwhile, qian jin would have left the force before these killings started but I'm sure he still had plenty of connections left in the force. either way, the seventh victim has been hidden for a reason. knowing what was in that file should lead to a breakthrough of some sort.

liu min's younger brother mentioned in the first two episodes of season two. said to be the more favoured of the two siblings and hasn't yet officially entered the game, but just from law of conservation of detail I think he is going to be a player because why even bring him up when liu min is already dead.

li tianxi's mutism and subsequent abilities of speech as a teenager. the mutism and later explanation are both such deliberate details to include. I don't know for sure what the answer is, but I do think the idea of tianchen or someone else possessing tianxi is a possibility given we know that possession overrides certain physical traits. cxs even explicitly confirmed that this would include mutism when he spoke as tianxi in his dive. it could also be that tianchen is literally dressed as tianxi and is using the mask to help disguise this fact. or tianxi could be tianxi. but whatever the case, I do think the mutism is a relevant point to return to. (also, in s2e4 it looks like the sibling with the messy fringe (tianchen?) doesn't speak. unsure if this is to hide that there were multiples and we just didn't hear the speech but ig it does add to the option that tianchen and tianxi have swapped bodies entirely)

fountain boy. I know I said I'd avoid the stuff that's already been explored but this is such an obvious thing that *will* come back. my intuition says that the fact they picked such an adult sounding voice actor means the character hasn't yet been formally introduced and will appear later (and so opens up the possibilities of hat guy/liu min's brother etc) but that's purely on a meta level. within the story itself it could be almost any male character sans cheng xiaoshi.

Liu Min's phone, taken by Li Tianchen(? - going by the fringe but not confident of this) without Qian Jin's oversight. Does this mean Tianxi is working with Qian Jin whilst Tianchen is double-crossing? Either way, these three are not all in it together. They have some shared motives but ultimately their own agendas.

*themes here meaning qiao ling's big regret re: doudou was that she saw someone leave with him and said nothing. emma's only 'crime' was that she knew of the financial irregularities but didn't speak up. li tianchen saying about people pretending to be nice but secretly are jerks are the worst. my other idea is 'people the law won't punish' because qian jin's backstory (vigilante justice type deal also kinda fitting the themes) especially as the murderer who killed his wife later 'committed suicide' and it was mentioned that several of the meticulous killings were initially mistaken for suicides. anyway, I'll fully admit I'm running on vibes for this as speculation and am fully open to there being another theme tying together the victims.

Have a few queries/plot bunnies regarding the Jonaplat AU:

When Jotaro uses Star Platinum to sketch the Egyptian fly from the spirit photograph of DIO, is that using Jonathan's artistic talent or Jotaro's?

What are Jonathan's thoughts on the Speedwagon Foundation?

One of JoJo's defining traits is his capacity for sympathy and a mindset where he tries to imagine the consequences his actions would have on other people, even if they appear to be enemies. Would there ever be situations where he refuses to obey Jotaro out of principle?

Would Death 13 interfere with Jotaro's dreams about Jonathan's life? Could the *opposite* happen?

Given that his mental fortitude and ability to withstand fear are the main reasons Speedwagon decides to join him, his averse reactions to fire must really be messing him up, huh?

Would Jonathan be able to communicate with other sentient stands? The only one in Part 3 I can name off the top of my head is Anubis (who actually could be an interesting avenue to explore the implications of WHY Jonathan was reborn as Star Platinum, depending on how similar Anubis' predicament is. Crack Idea: Anubis + Hamon-induced soul restoration/redemption like with Bruford = Luck & Pluck 2.0? الحظ والنتف? lol)

should i have maybe spaced these questions out in separate asks?

So in order:

1)Definitely Jonathan’s but it was boosted with his new incredibly precise vision and speed. I image that as he was studying to be an archeologist, Jonathan probably learned and practiced how to make sketches of real things quite a lot and was pretty good. Nothing extraordinary but definitely on par for the course. Of course, now as a Stand his drawings got a significant bump in queslity because he can now do and see things a human never could

And to add more to the drawing thing….. what if in their down time when they’re in hotels Jonathan ends up drawing a lot. Of Danny, Erina, Speedwagon, Zeppeli, the Stone Mask, countless things from his life. This also ends up weirding Jotaro out because these are the people from his dreams, yet he’s never seen any of them before. Jotaro might even hide the drawings or decide he’s going to deal with it later because right now it isn’t a priority. He doesn’t throw them away though, just keeps them folded up in an inside pocket in his jacket

2) He’d be very proud of what Speedwagon was able to accomplish with his life and that he’d been able to make a legacy for himself that was able to persist long after his death. He’s happy that at least Speedwagon and Erina were able to live in comfort after he was gone (also slightly unrelated but I’m pondering on whether or not to do Jonaeriwagon for this AU just because fjdbgjdbf)

3) Honestly? I don’t think he would that much. While Jonathan does sympathize and feel empathy, he also would know the importance of defending one’s self and loved ones, and he’d get really attached to Jotaro and Co and that protectiveness will probably override his sympathies. He wouldn’t be outright cruel though, just fighting as much as he needs to in order to keep everyone safe.

The only times Jonathan would likely hold back would be if the person is already well and beat and wasn’t too much of shitty person. The more smug, genuinely cruel and otherwise vindictive the person, the less he’d be willing to show them sympathies. For example, Polanreff. He was honorable and accepted his defeat, so Jonathan would see no issue with saving his life and him eventually joining the team

4) Oooooo I didn’t even think of that. This time around Star Platinum would actually be able to be brought into the dream because Jonathan would also be technically asleep, but unlike how Kakyoin brought Hierophant into the dream like in canon, Jonathan would be just as trapped as the living humans because Death 13 Dream Logic. Death 13 would probably being him into the dream out of general curiosity because this has never happened before

5) Y e a h. Jonathan hates his new fear, especially because of how crippling it can be at times, double especially because of how it affects Jotaro. And it’s going to be REALLY bad during the entirety of Italy because from Jonathan’s perspective he’d just died and didn’t have time to fully process that whole thing

6) You’re right, the only sentient stand in Stardust was Anubis, but that’s also definitely very interesting. While I’m not sure about other Sentient Stands, given Anubis’s mental link with the person holding the sword it could definitely be possible for him and Jonathan to communicate. And you’re right, we never actually learn….. really anything about Anubis, so a team up could be an interesting possibility

Warning: Far too long, only kind of filtered notes app analysis that i couldn't sleep last night unless i typed out:

Just finished reading old Man Quill and also the Wastelanders volume about him. Tbh i liked it a lot, i already knew the rest of the team were dead but the reveal still hit really hard.

Peter is a sensitive soul, one of his defining traits has always been that he feels responsible for everything that ever goes wrong and stops at nothing to make it right again. (That and substance abuse, but this is the farthest that concept has ever been taken) It's been like that since he gave himself up for mass murder before Annihilation.

If i understand correctly, this timeline separates off when he leaves the Guardians to rule Spartax for a while, but that option leaves us with a continuity error since he namedrops Infinity Wars. The other option is that after they take down the future!universal church in the 2019 run, he goes to Spartax to take over the throne, since his father died there. This would fix one continuity error, and also pick up at a point where Nova is already back from tentacle hell (more on him later) This would however cause another continuity error with the spaceship they are using, since by then they didn't have the Milano. However, this is nitpicking.

50+ years in complete solitude must have messed with his head enough for the news to break him the way they did. The Guardians were some of the last people he loved that he knew were at least somewhere out there, even if they have spent the vast majority of their lives apart.

I also find the idea that he had a family very interesting, because he seems to want that so much, but duty will always call, either an external force or his own restlessness will get between him and peace. The 2020 run starts similarly, his attempt at settling down is interrupted by an old friend asking for help, and he could never let Nova go to war alone. After he dies there, he is given the chance to settle down as an immortal on Morius, but he grows restless after 200 years of it.

In the Old Man storyline, the death of his family on Spartax works in a similar way. He grows restless, he leaves them to fight (for them as an emperor and a father), except this time they die in his abscence while it was his responsibility to protect them. Not only does this reach into his pre-existing insecurities and flaws but it also gives him an extra layer of motivation: throughout the story he is very protective of children who get caught up in the crossfire.

I find the Wastelanders Starlord issue extremely interesting. It is about how he very much still has to move on from the past, stop thinking back to a romanticized version of his loved ones and allies, stop thinking of how those idealised figures would hate him if they really saw him now.

Nova's presence in both this sequence and the ending is a clear signal that he needs to pull his head out of his ass: one of the people whose "ghost" he saw that degraded him is literally still alive! And look at the other people, all of them people who must be happy to hear from him after 50 years of locking himself away.

The way he breaks from the illusion calls to mind his tendency to reject peace: While the previous illusions call him a failure, Kitty promises to love him just like she did in the past. He rejects this to save himself, accurately noticing that it offers him a romanticised version of their relationship made up to hit him right where it hurts. Stay, like you've always failed to do, it says. Leave like you always do.

In the end he moves on successfully, building on the things he's lost and not letting them out of sight (holograms of the dead Guardians, ship renamed after Kitty Pryde)

Another thing I realised is that he'll risk his own safety but only if he's alone. One of his loved ones being around/doing something stupider than him immediately overrides his own stupidity and turns him into a responsible person who is going to come up with a better plan.

But if he's alone/backed into a corner it is potential suicide mission o'clock because he doesn't think he has value other than his relationships to others and believes that there is no one else who would do this "absolutely neccessary" thing if it wasn't him.

I enjoyed this story a lot, it felt consistent with characterisation i've grown to like. Deeply caring, softly ruthless, guilt weighing on his mind like a stone. I can easily compare his motivation and behaviour to the 2008 run, Moondragon even sums up a lot of what i've had to say:

Which is great! I know everyone says the 2020 series is the first true sequel to gotg2008, but for an alternate universe, Old Man Quill does well and should be given a chance.

that ‘beastly instincts’ side effect is very interesting, it could make for lots of scenarios.

We already know, due to the movie, that using animal power ups makes you behave like the animal in question- like how Mario upon using the cat bell walks on all fours, pounces, makes biscuits and even is able to purr and growl. Could the amount of time you use the power up affect how animal you become? You could become less able to control how ‘feral’ you are the more you succumb to the instincts of the suit.

Once the power up wears off, depending on how far gone you are you’d have to be conditioned back into acting like your old human self. This could be both comedic and angsty, haha.

That's exactly what I was going for! Animal power-up affect the body and the mind, and the longer you remain in an animal's "skin", the more these instincts become natural, slowly overriding your own instincts.

I'm hesitating between a couple of options about these in particular, and how they affect you permanently:

the suit fusing with your skin overtime, to the point of turning you into a real animal instead of a person wearing a kigurumi, and thus even after getting hit you remain one, or keep animalistic traits.*

Being able to turn back into a normal person physically if you get hit, but the feral behaviour remains, and it takes a lot of time to overcome it...if you manage to do it.

In both case, I can perfectly imagine villains using this with specific prisoners : making them use an animal power-up, but keeping them locked and/or chained in a way they can't hurt themselves to turn back, and let time work its magic until only a feral beast remains...

.....that may or may not be a plot point in Bend or Break.

Why is it nonsensical to just like characters you like without this stupid fandom tribalism? This fandom is exhausting with everything being about teams.

Depends on why you like the character, anon.

What about them entices or appeals and do you believe those liked traits override their integrity? Or nullify it in lieu of enjoyment? How seriously do you treat the character's faults and what you think is a flaw that condemns them to EVIL. The quality of your admiration for the character. What you ignore or think is innocuous enough to ignore, or if you ignore it to then pretend you don't care about the ideological/moral/political element when you really do and are just trying to sneak in prejudiced ideologies that you would be accused of having or convince others is "not that bad" so it can become the dominant ideology.

One Alicent stan transphopically and misogynistically writes "see the problem with the 'what if rhaenyra had been born a boy' thing in regards to rhaenicent is the unavoidable truth that it would have changed them both so intrinsically that they wouldn't make sense anymore” this POST. And they want to say that Alicent provides Rhaenyra a “helpful” perspective. Kind of like how some U.S. southern resident try to claim that them trying to preserve their racist statues, monuments, etc. is "just" them preserving their Southern/Separatist "heritage" and is “just” about celebration and honor.

You don't just "like" a character because of nothing at all. You have specific reasons why you "like" a character or their action, why you "like" the Targs or hate them, etc. Even though you never thought about why, they are there, these reasons. It's just that if you become a real fan, there are many reasons and many of them are "deep" and you may not be the person who would happily talk for 30 minutes why you love a character.

And you can understand why and how a person "likes" something or someone when you check out what they think is valuable enough to even be praised in the first place. This is where it matters, relating to the story you are reading, the circumstances surrounding the character and giving them their identity, their role, their very existence. You cannot separate a character from their story.

The Dance is a historical event in the Westerosi timeline where a woman was attacked and usurped because a group of people wanted power and used the sociopolitical value of her gender against her and try to discredit her. In the original story, there are already two factions: the blacks vs the greens (which used to be called the queen's versus the princess' party). They also used violence against undeserving individuals based on discriminatory beliefs (like how children born out of wedlock are inherently "treacherous", therefore they must be treated as lesser...that Alicent's religion, the Faith, pushes). The characters themselves fight and have deep emotional scars from their interactions in the past, and the motivations behind those abuses have to do with what they believe they "deserve". (Talking about the greens here).

The factionalism in the original story makes the story, because the very reason for the factionalism is that one side decided to oppose the other and seize power. To further their own desire for power for power's sake -- they felt entitled to break the law (King's word is law) and custom despite their claims of following custom, tradition and being subjects due to their oldest claimant (Aegon II) being male while Rhaenyra was a woman. Despite the fact that they themselves claim to believe in King's word is law and absolute monarchy, and want that sort of power for themselves and then go around as say Rhaenyra is unfit for it.

That is prejudice and misogyny at work, inherently unjust things, and their entire philosophy is inherently heavy classism and misogyny. They were entirely out for themselves and abused their power against those under their authority. Aegon rapes, Aemond rapes and murders an entire family's male members --children, babies, and adults, roasts whole villages, Daeron burns a whole town, Alicent tries to plot and grow a following against a ten year old and tries to get her to lose her entire reputation based on an act that is not inherently kill-worthy.....

You can definitely "like" characters for how layered their evil is and how strong of a contender they are, but to totally ignore them and then favor them is to be a bigot or a possible bystander of bigotry.

The Dance also sets up the circumstances for one of our principal heroes, Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen who is another beloved or reviled character of this series. It is due to what happens in the Dance and the gradual Targ assimilation into Westerosi patriarchy that the dragons the Targs have are lost.

Since the story has sides, readers will also form their opinions, read the text, understand the context through the lore and world holding, and thus they will also pick a side. And in general, with a situation/story like this, there are going to be strong, opposing opinions and feelings. And those manifest as "teams".

To pretend as if our philosophies or ideas of identity and "who deserves respect in this situation" never has a hand in what we "like" in fiction is to both lie and can be a real way that discriminatory and even fascist ideologies can prosper. Since you're discouraged to think analytically, learn your history, not look deeper into human motivations and their multiplicity, disprove ridiculous theories that seek to create justifications for prejudice and oppression and "might=right", and otherwise question authorities of power and morality.

And then you get people like Sansa, Aemond, and Alicent stans who try to excuse classism or reduce abusive, oppressive acts to mere "flaws".

In which I take Metal Gear lore and shove it into Psychonauts (Spoiler warning!):

Now, I've never played any of the Metal Gear games, but what I have been doing is reading a lot about Psycho Mantis, AKA Tretij Rebenok, and the nature of his psychic powers. As a child, his telepathy was so strong - and his own sense of self was so weak, being a child and all - that he was basically controlled against his will by others with strong emotions, particularly hatred. This came about after he discovered via his telepathy that his own father hated him and lashed out in a fit of rage, burning down his whole village, which I assume is what spurred on his 'emotional deadness' as a sort of defence mechanism. As an adult, he clawed back some independence and tried to use his powers for good by working as an investigator for the FBI, only to wind up adopting the personality of a serial killer after trying to read their mind, becoming the sadistic, kill-happy villain Solid Snake meets and ultimately kills in self-defence.

Given all the headcanons about Raz having a sense of hyper-empathy and how that contributes to the way he learns and utilizes his powers, I feel like something similar to what happened with Mantis is a very present danger in the Psychonauts-verse and why psychics like Sasha and Hollis place such high importance on self-control.

In particular, it might go a long way towards explaining how Lucrecia and Coach Oleander turned out. In Lucy's case, Ford mentions the experiments that the Psychic 7 performed 'unlocked every door in their minds', which I imagine involved heightening their connection to the Collective Unconscious and thus, their sense of empathy - and given the headcanons about Raz's hyper-empathy, it's possible Lucy's was already high to begin with. So when she went back to Grulovia and got involved with the Gzar, she found herself unwittingly getting deep into the Gzar's headspace and allowing his own personality traits to override her own - something she only snapped out of after the Valermo Dam disaster, at which point it was mixed up with the rage and despair of the thousands of Grulovians affected by the disaster. Not understanding where it came from, *that* became her new default mindset. In a twisted kind of way, she was lashing out against *herself* more than anyone else, the rest of Grulovia just got caught in the crossfire.

Then there's Oleander - I imagine one effect of the Psitanium at Whispering Rock was that it 'captured' the thoughts and emotions of everyone around it, and stronger negative feelings tended to overpower more positive ones. This effect was self-reinforcing, as people affected by it fed back into it and made it even stronger, and over time it became so strong that even non-psychics were affected, reaching its worst point when the asylum was founded. The Psychonauts managed to 'contain' it by sealing it under that glass floor, but it was still there. When Morry came along, over a hundred years' worth of anger, sadness and confusion reacted with all his pre-existing traumas and insecurities to, again, basically override his sense of self and turn him into a conduit for all those bad feelings.

Which also sorta explains why his world domination plan was so poorly thought out. How was he gonna get those brain tanks across the lake, again? :V

Not too groundbreaking but just some habits or quirks they have

GT!Error Chara

Chara comes from well glitchtale where chara won against the fight between Omega!Flowey, Gaster, and Sans, where then chara took the souls and erased the timeline

Chara like Error has glitched stats that randomized every second meaning she also has randomized damage and health, like error there are times where chara crashes and can’t see

and like error this leaves chara open to any attacks

Unlike Error this chara is more keen on destroying every Au and this amplified by the HATE that is still attached to chara

Chara also has a glitched soul meaning her soul randomly changes between the other soul traits bravery, justice, kindness, integrity, patience, kindness, and perseverance

And again they change randomly so chara cannot choose what soul she wants, you can tell what soul trait she has by the color of her eyes and mouth

Each soul trait gives a different ability to chara

Despite being a being of destruction she still wears the heart locket

LE!Sans

LE!Sans well was a regular sans however like dust, LE has gone through many genocide resets however unlike dust, LE instead just went crazy and grew a split personality, one is called Mask and is the logic side of Sans, and the other is called truth which is the emotion side of Sans

I gonna skip most of the story but at end LE!Sans defeats the player by making a crash blaster, a blaster designed to make a player crash and leave the timeline

Oh and frisk wasn’t spared, LE decided to kill frisk as well so now LE is LV is 2

During the time when the player was still there, LE had to work with the player to gain their trust and make certain deals

And one time when LE was making a machine to override reset it instead exploded creating a hole space where LE discovered the Au’s

LE hates players a lot

Now as for the split personalities

Mask is the smartest one always creating machines, devices, and etc. Mask was able to create a device that allowed him to travel to Au’s where he began research on them

Mask also created many different modes for his gaster blasters like the lightning blaster, bullet blaster, magma blaster, and more

Mask is very manipulative and clever, always seeking new knowledge and power, he is still a sans so he is a little lazy however when he wants to get something done he can persevere through it

Mask is a good guy but he isn’t that trustworthy since he has made deals with other beings like nightmares in exchange for certain things he cannot get himself, again is mostly neutral so he can work with the good guys too, he only works with the bad guys if he really wants something or wants to protect something

Mask doesn’t say much puns anymore but instead says sarcastic jokes or just taunts, he looks down on others but still treats them really good for example he was went to Underswap and is good friends with swap papyrus

Truth is still smart but just not as smart as mask, I won’t say much about him here since this post is already getting too long so I will just truth is more trustworthy and nice, he is very good at close combat and wears armor and a sword

Now we move onto cstubbo! Who will be faster to analyze because ive already established some things here.

hes deffo an introvert! Like i feel like this is the easiest of all aspects to assign due to the simple nature of introvert v extrovert. While i do feel like many people lie in the middle between the two, when it comes down to it there is a scale and most people are on either side even if barely.

Anyway cstubbo introvert.

Next is intuitive v observant. I feel like cstubbo might fall more into observant here. People who are observant prefer things to have one clear message rather than an abstract one, and they are very focused on the present. They are practical and deal with what is right in front of them. They value simplicity.

Okay and then comes the aspect i despise assigning the most. Like what makes someone thinking or feeling when everyone is such a mixture of the two?! Alas i carry on!i am going to be very topical with this one for the sake of my sanity. thinking individuals are associated with using the scientific process on every day life. What does that mean? Im not really sure! However at the end of the day tubbo=science.

Okay ill think about it more. Those with the thinking trait are less likely to as others for help or opinions on their own problems. They find a discomfort in emotions and often will override their own emotions to have a more rational response or opinion. And yea i think thats pretty cstubbo!

Now comes the tactics aspect which is even more broad, but yea. This one is hard because the actual test doesnt take into account anything like idk adhd which would make it hard to focus on things. However someone with adhd isnt automatically someone with the prospecting trait. But thats just one of the many flaws of the system and im trying my best to work around that.

To be honest i think cstubbo might be more judging and here i have a reason. Throughout tubbos story arc we see him struggling to cope with the changes going on in his life, which are all valid things to struggle with. However he refers back to how he wish he was back in the weird little routine he had before. Or maybe im imagining things idk.

Anyway for that reason i think he has the judging trait. While he deals well with smaller changes or does good with being spontaneous on a small scale, those are all things that he mentally planned anyway. Like he mentally planned out how he was going to skip class to hang out with ranboo despite the action seeming spontaneous in nature.

Okay i realize i should have given reasons for literally every other decision before now but that would double the length of this and im too tired to do that. Sorry but youyfgsdyghkfdyugbksdfuygtkrueygt ya know?

OKAY SO cstubo ISTJ and then also turbulent because, well, stressed.

Now lets take a look at the ISTJ description. Here they are called Logicians (on 16personalitys.com) but ima just say ISTJ

They are reserved and willful. They commit to what they do and have high integrity. They are committed to staying rational and grounded in order to keep up their practicality. this website says that ISTJ enforces conservative values like who the hell thinks political standing is determined by a literal personality trait???? i dispise the romance section of each personality. and yea the whole *this personality is usually conservative with traditional beliefs* was in the romance section.

in friendships they are very loyal but they struggle with expressing emotions. they don’t like conflict and avoid it when possible. it’s common for a ISTJ to have an intuitive (N) person in their close friend group.

turbulent ISTJ need consistency for stability in their life however they often don’t know what they want.

okay i think this description fits cstubbo better than the first description fit csranboo. so let’s look at another description!

Truity described ISTJ as,”responsible organizers, driven to create and enforce order within systems and institutions. They are neat and orderly, inside and out, and tend to have a procedure for everything they do.”

this description feels like it fits even less, but no matter! to get more results!! i’m going to take the same quiz as before but this time answering as cstubbo! which is actually really fun, i highly suggest taking personality quizzes as a fictional character! it’s a joy

interesting enough the result was ISTP! I think this, if anything, is very c!tubbo. Not sure about cstubbo though. I guess theyre the same though! I am still stubborn about cstubbo having the judging trait, and i’d even argue so does c!tubbo. Like both of them like spontaneous things they control, change that they individually control. But in the end both tubs are still thinking and planning in everything they do. Either that or I'm projecting again. Am i? I dont think so. Maybe subconsciously?

In conclusion, cstubbo ISTP-T and or ISTJ-T. Personally i like ISTJ more but that's really trivial I guess.

i would agree with observant too! i think that one is the one i have the hardest time wrapping my head around bc idk if im observant or intuitive myself tbh but i do think he is a lot more like practical with things. he's a bit of a cynic and a lot of his abstract thoughts are actually just a lot of patterns repeating in his head -- a lot of his paranoias are kind of just. analyzing past patterns. so i feel like overall yeah

yeah thinking v feeling with tubbo's character is hard... he's deffo near the middle but i would argue a lean towards thinking as well. he's pretty aware of people's emotions constantly but when he makes decisions they are not really off of his own emotions, if they're irrational its more due to like his preconceived notions about something rather than a spur of the moment thing. so yep agreed on thinking here

truthfully i have no fucking idea what to decide on this last one. because the more i think on it i realize ranboo is WAY more judging like as i ruminate but i get here and i don't really know? on one hand i do agree tubbo has a lot of plans set out, but the thing about him is he's made a lot of moves to have practical plans, but a lot of these plans kind of include him just Figuring Shit Out. his plan to run away in a lot of ways as we see in the earlier chapters kind of just boils down to... i've collected stuff and planned for this but after this. well IDK. so it's kind of hard to say but i will tentatively go with J here

deffo turbulent. man has not the slighest fucking clue what he wants to do with himself

that first description is actually pretty accurate with tubbo! i mean as much as these can fit they're obviously broad and weird. the second one doesn't really fit that much LOL he doesn't necessarily seek out order in life he kind of thrives off of shit going wrong and getting messed up which makes him the exact opposite tbh. so maybe he IS more P than J idk

Today some heavy thoughts fell on me. Thoughts of troubles, thoughts of falling short, thoughts of failure. As Christians, we love to please God. It is our joy to serve Him & serve Him well. However, many times our emotions can get caught up in our mistakes & that can confuse our obedience. When this happens, it is important to remind myself that my obedience is not merely an act to please God, but my obedience comes from a transformed heart of the Gospel of Jesus. My obedience to God comes out of genuine love & any mistakes that may happen are just a part of life. The Bible already informs me that I fall short (Rom. 3:23), but it also informs me I am justified freely by the grace & redemption of Jesus (Rom. 3:34). These are important reminders to have in moments when the enemy wants to put you down. When feelings of disappointment & failure grow strong, it is important to distinguish truth from emotions.

Emotion: what is the point of what I do? My mistakes shine brighter to me than anything else. I see my flaws so clearly. There is no way I can be a child of God properly. I am not enough.

Biblical Truth: Yes, exactly, you are not enough, that is literally the whole point. God is made perfect in our weakness. With our flaws being exposed to us, we are kept humble & God thinks humility is more important than comfort. We as children of God are designed to be examples of Jesus’ power, one way this manifests is through our weaknesses. Who God has chosen, He will not neglect. He will properly equip you with what is needed to do His good work. He who has begun a good work in you will finish it to completion till the day of Jesus Christ. You will not be perfect. You will fail. That’s just how it goes & you will learn to see the purpose in it all.

I used to think that talking about yourself too highly was the only way to be self absorbed. I have learned in my faith journey that another way to be self absorbed (& frankly, a much easier way) is by talking down on yourself too much. You see, whether we are talking ourselves up or bringing ourselves down, we are still focused on us & not Jesus. The enemy absolutely loves for us—whether positive or negative—to be all about ourselves because it keeps our eyes away from the only who actually matters. So today, when these heavy thoughts really sat with me close, the only thing that got me out was redirecting my attention to Jesus. In shifting my vision to Jesus, God allowed my entire emotions to be shifted too. Suddenly, my failings did not feel so intense anymore because Jesus’ merits overruled them.

It is not a bad thing to check ourselves & see that we have things we can fix & work on; we are called after all to put away our old self & put on our new self. What matters though is how we go about it. There is a difference between actively working on a trait side by side with Jesus that will enhance the Kingdom of God verses beating yourself up with falsehoods that lead you farther from The Gospel. We must be very cautious with our daily fight with the enemy, he is sneaky & knows our emotions well. If we are not attentive, we can be consumed by his grasp & forget about truth. God gives His children a spirit of courage & unless we use that courage well, Satan will be too much for us, our emotions will override us, & we will be found over-scrutinizing our own weaknesses that God can use for His glory.

Look to Jesus. Dwell in Jesus. No true Christian can ever say they have abided in Jesus so deeply that they have grown regret from it—only the opposite can be said. No soul can be perfectly at ease expect in nearness to Christ. The nearer to Him, the nearer to peace, joy, assurance, & zeal. The nearer to Him, the fuller the heart is.

SMALL VEGETARIAN OVERHAUL A SMALL REWORK OF THE VEGETARIAN TRAIT

Most recent update: 24/07/2020 (For compatibility with Small Lactose Intolarance Overhaul)

Here we have my first script mod, it's not a huge one it basically reworks the way vegetarianism works in-game to be a bit closer to how I see it.

FEATURES:

"Vegetarian is not a personality trait, aunt Susan."

"Vegetarian" no longer takes up a personality slot in Create a Sim, and you'll no longer see it listed there. Your sims can have all three of their precious personality traits and still be a vegetarian if they want to be. I've always wanted this as to me peoples' diets/lifenos do not reflect their personality.

Note: You can still pick it in CAS if you like, you just can't use this mod's features on the CAS trait.

Nothing's set in stone.

With this mod, your sim can become a vegetarian as an elder or be a vegetarian as a teen and stop as an adult, either way they can always change their mind as the option to become or stop being a vegetarian never goes away.

You can become/stop being a vegetarian at any time by clicking on the sim and selecting "Become a Vegetarian" or "Stop Being a Vegetarian." on the pie menu. If that's too hard to find there's also a nifty plant you can click on to do the same.

Oden override.

This was an optional addition I added, as I wanted my vegetarian sim to be able to join in at least one of the hot-pot recipes. This just takes the Oden in game and makes it so it's a vegetarian version instead. It's entirely optional, so if you don't want that simply delete it and you're grand.

So I know absolutely nothing about Leverage except what I've been seeing you post lately and I have to admit you're making it look tempting to watch! Can I ask what are some of your favorite things about the show/reasons you would suggest people watch it? And is there really a poly relationship that is canon?

Okay. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. I am going to do my best not to just “asdfghkjl” at you and answer coherently.

In a nutshell, Leverage is about 5 people. 4 are criminals (Parker, Hardison, Eliot and Sophie) with different and unique skill-sets and 1 is an ex-insurance investigator (Nate) who, at one point or another in his career, has tracked down (or at least attempted to) the other 4. The whole show is essentially: man reluctantly reforms 4 criminals to use their criminal powers for good and 4 criminals move into man’s life and stubbornly refuse to leave because, goddammit, now they have morals.

I’ve got a lot of favourite things about the show but the main ones are as follows:

1. Found family. And I’m not talking about loners who come together to fight crime and happen to co-exist to the point where they realise they happen to have found themselves a family. I mean, Nate and Sophie are the Drunk Uncle and Wine Aunt who somehow become Mom and Dad to 3 beautiful criminal children. Mom and Dad love their criminal babies and the kids love them (as well as each other, but we’ll come to that in a moment). You get amazing family moments such as: Mom and Dad packing the kids lunch before sending them out to kick corporate greed’s ass; Mom and Dad giving the kids ridiculously expensive and personal Christmas presents causing their most Grumpy Kid to go very very quiet and soft as he runs off to gleefully play with his new murder toy; the kids interrupting Mom and Dad’s big Movie Style Kiss to ask if they can please keep their new underground layer and huffing and puffing when Dad tells them no.

2. Found family: the OT3 edition. To answer your question, the OT3 is indeed canon, confirmed by the creator. Now, usually, “confirmed by the creator” infuriates me because most of the time it’s a way for a creator to be seen as “progressive” without doing anything to actually be progressive. That isn’t the case here. The OT3 are built up carefully and while it is obvious the creators didn’t originally intend for all 3 of them to become a relationship in the romantic sense, by mid-season 5 we are given a very clear picture of where Parker, Hardison and Eliot are heading in their relationship. There aren’t any kisses at the end to signal this but there are solid marriage vows in not only one but two episodes. (And by marriage vows I mean literal equivalents of marriage vows: “for better or worse” and “’til death do us part”. I’m not even exaggerating). The OT3 also doesn’t need explicit romantic narratives to convey how much they love each other. Their love is laced through the whole show, from the way they teach each other things to the way they respond to each other and work as a unit. The way they fiercely protect and admire each other. Like someone once said, if you need characters to kiss or say I love you to let the audience know they love each other, you are writing them wrong.

Aside from that, each of the parings in the OT3 are just. Gah. They are so well done, with friendship being the solid basis for them all. The creators never expect the audience to assume anything about them or fill in the gaps. They give us their relationships on screen and reference many things off-screen to show us how these relationships continue to build in between episodes.

Hardison and Parker are a canon couple and date in the show: it’s approached slowly and they are so goddamned sweet. They are basically every fluffy slow-burn trope with a healthy dash of mutual pining in the mix. They are basically that quote “love is patient, love is kind”. (I would like to add their romance never becomes the focus of the show or overrides the importance of any other relationship they have with the other characters, especially Eliot.)

Hardison and Eliot are the Old Married Couple and from day one are already bickering and looking at each other/making comments that are found in every UST fic ever (not to mention Hardison has a very good knack for making Eliot grin like a little kid, when usually he’s basically an Angry Little Chef Man). They argue, they play, and love each other plain as day.

Parker and Eliot are more subtle but every bit as wonderful. They have an unspoken connection and understand each other on a level no-one else can. Parker and Eliot are not good with giving themselves over to affection for different reasons (and Hardison plays a central role in helping them realise it’s okay to want it and have it- that boy has endless patience) but there is something so beautiful in the way the two of them come together on their own and develop their own special bond that works for them. Parker and Eliot are that trope where the characters don’t need to speak to understand each other perfectly. They just do. Their love language is a lot of the time non-verbal but speaks volumes. (Parker also likes to annoy the hell out of Eliot and Eliot....just.....lets...her. Because he’s soft. The softest, grumpiest boy.)

I could go into so much depth for each pairing and their dynamics as a 3 but that's for another post.

3. Subverting stereotypes. There is the occasional hiccup in the show regarding stereotypes but ultimately, Leverage gets an A+ when it comes to writing characters and making them 3 dimensional people who are not defined by certain characteristics or events. Nate could so easily fall into the White Man Pain trope where he uses the trauma of losing his kid as a reason as to why he is entitled to act like a dick. Nate is a dick but he doesn’t use his pain to excuse it and I appreciate that. Hardison is a black man who is soft and nurturing. Easily the most empathetic and patient of the group. He’s nerdy, an actual genius, and has the biggest heart of all the characters. Nate is maybe the glue but Hardison is definitely the heart. Media’s usual aggressive, amongst other, racist stereotypes can fuck right off. Parker is canonically autistic (I am sure this was confirmed by one of the creators) and she is not defined by it. It’s not written as some kind of singular personality trait. It’s part of what makes up Parker but it’s only one facet of who she is and not once is her actions, thoughts or feelings treated like a joke. Sometimes people don’t understand why she does and says the things she does but it’s met with patience and fondness over the course of the show. Equally, it’s not met with over-caution. Parker is just Parker. No-one tries to change her. The other nice thing is Hardison, who always makes sure Parker knows she’s amazing because of who she is and not in spite of it. Finally, Sophie is in her 40s. She’s not treated like she’s past her prime. Ever. She’s sexy, smart and never is she pitted against or compared to Parker (who is younger) for anything. Sophie is amazing and there’s never even a conversation of “I may be older but I am still *insert adjective typically associated with younger women here*”. Sophie is possibly the first female character I’ve ever seen who isn’t just unapologetic about her age but has never had to apologise for her age. It’s a non-issue and that’s that. The women on the show are written so well, right down to secondary characters and it’s beyond refreshing.

4.) It’s just fun. The show has a “monster of the week” type format. Except instead of a ghoul or a ghost, the monster is some corrupt wealthy and powerful individual or organisation. The show draws on real-life individuals to do this and therefore closely parallels real-life people and events. It addresses important political, economical, social and environmental issues while at the same time remaining fun and light-hearted. The characters constantly get the chance to play dress up and by GOD do they have fun with it. You get to watch Eliot beat up bad guys in the most delightful of ways, usually after a witty non-sequitur and with a weapon you’d never think could be a weapon. The dialogue and back and forth between the characters is everything. And finally - my favourite thing- the team can never resist striking a dramatic pose after they’ve taken down the bad guy, making sure the bad guy sees them. I mean, they COULD just walk away, satisfied they’ve taken the person down, but nope. They gotta be dramatic bitches 24/7 and pose like they are models for every single month of this year’s Criminal Calendar.

5.) Competence Porn. So. Much. Competence Porn.

Honestly, I could list a thousand reasons for why Leverage is amazing but to list them would to be spoiling so many amazing moments you’d get to discover for the first time on your own if you do choose to watch it. It’s the kind of show you can watch with an eagle-eye and sink your teeth into. But it’s also the kind of show if, you would prefer, put on in the background for something entertaining while you do something else. Each episode is about the job at hand but it’s made up of so many moments between the characters that show how much the creators and writers care about them. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll do whatever it is you do when something Soft and Wonderful happens that makes your heart melt. I am so beyond grateful for Leverage. It’s everything I always wanted in a show. Nearly every show I’ve watched in the past 10 years has disappointed me in some way, usually either because the writers run out of steam or characters who I love are treated poorly or given some kind of unnecessary “shock value” arc. Leverage doesn’t do that. Leverage is what it says on the bottle. Fandom isn’t something I joined because I needed canon fix-its. Fandom only enhances and celebrates an already excellent canon.

Didn’t Mean It | Bakugou Katsuki x Reader

Request: hello! I was wondering if you could do a Bakugou x Reader (if requests are open ofc❤️). Maybe Bakugou said something he didn’t mean to the Reader, and she like leaves the middle of class to go to the bathroom to cry- and like some of the girls go to comfort her/ask if she’s doing fine. But that doesn’t help- so Bakugou ditches class and goes to comfort her in the girls bathroom, and the other girls are like “cUtE”. Sorry if this made no sense but I thought it would be cute 😳. love your writing!

Noise. The class was filled with noise, per usual. Mr. Aizawa was sleeping in the corner. Hm... Seems like he didn’t sleep well again. I wonder what night trouble popped up this time. Mina, Momo, and Uraraka were chatting away near me. The next class should start in about 30 minutes. Until then, Mr. Aizawa told us to complete the assignment and place it on his desk. Getting up from my seat, I head towards Katsuki, Eijiro, and Denki. To avoid disturbing them, I decided to wait behind them until they finished talking.

“Yeah, I don’t get why that’s irritating,” Eijiro was facing Katsuki. His back was, currently, facing me, The other two immediately acknowledge my presence. Their eye widen and their shoulders tense up.

“Of course you don’t. She’s not with you,” he began. Was it about me?

“It’s especially when she wants to tag along on days I go out. It would’ve been better if she just stayed home. Damn it. It’s so irritating.”

Oh.. Huh. I felt my heart tighten at his words. The room got a little quieter. The light even seemed dimmer. After noticing the change in my demeanor, Denki coughs. Before the duo can say anything, I lift my finger to my lips.

“Don’t look at me like that! You both act like you’re the ones dealing with it,” Katsuki’s ignorance of my presence did not help. With a heavy heart, I turn back around and walk back to my desk.

We were all occupied with our assignment. For this class, we were completing an in-class group assignment. Currently, I am sitting in front of Katsuki, with Mina and Tsuyu sitting on the side. I can already feel his irritation. He probably did not enjoy being forced into a group, especially with me. Normally, I’d feel chipper about it. However, after knowing how he feels, I felt that me presence was annoying. I decided to talk less to avoid agitating him. While the group talks, I write down their ideas for the work and jot down my own, as well.

“You know this is a group effort, right?” I look up to see Katsuki’s eyes locked on me. I nodded.

“Really? I haven’t heard any input from you for it, Becoming lazy, are we?” he words stung. MY face warmed from embarrassment.

“Well, I... I was, uh, writing my ideas down with the groups in here,” I hesitantly lift my notebook. The room’s mood began to tense up. Slowly, the quiet room become quieter.

“____... This is a group effort. Do you not know what that means? Share you damn ideas. God, he rolls his eyes, not noticing his voice made the class focus on our group. I could feel their eyes centering me. I attempted to tell my ideas but they went all over the place in my mind.

“Yeah, nevermind. You’re not helping with shit,” he interrupted. The warmth of my face was traveling down to my neck. My throat constricts a bit. I can feel inklings of anxiousness rising.

“That’s not nice to say,” Mina told him. He simply rolled his eye at her comment. Mina signals for Denki to come to our table. They both whisper between themselves. They eye Katsuki a bit so I assumed it was about him and I. Tsuyu looks at my nervous state and reassures that she’s there if I need to talk.

“Kaminari, since you’re here, why don’t you and _____ switch? Some braincells is better than none,” he chuckles. My mood worsens at his joke. Little tears were forming but they were unnoticeable. There class was still focused on us. Clearing up my throat, I get up from my seat. I slowly walk up to the front.

“Is it alright for me to go to the restroom?” my voice cracks when asking Cementoss. He nods in return, noticing the waviness in my voice.

As soon as I got permission, I run out the classroom. I hear a faint “ ___! You can’t run in the hallway,” which sounded like Iida. I don’t stop until the ladies restroom in in front of me. With heavy breaths I open the door and rush to one of the stalls. My eyes burned and tears began slipping down my cheeks. I tried to hold myself together but his words were playing on a loop.

Does he really think I’m irritating? What do I do that annoys him? Gosh, I need to stop it.

After a couple of minutes, I hear footsteps echo throughout the bathroom. Someone knocks on my stall’s door. Calming myself down, I open the stall to face all the girls in front of me.

‘I swear boys can be really meaning without even trying,” Kyoka looked at me with soft eyes. Right when Ochaco step forward to hold my hand, the sting in my eyes return. I try to blind the tears away but it could not limit the amount that wanted to escape. My rigged breathing returns, which only worsens my embarrassment.

“I really...I really don’t mean to be... a bother for him,” I choked out in-between my heavy breaths. To give me space, they all gently pull me outside of the stall. Their eyebrows were slightly furrowed yet their eyes were soft.

“No. No. You are not at fault here,” Momo replies as she helps me sit down on the bench to the side.

“But I heard him say it. Gosh, I do sound irritating. I should stop tagging along too much. No wonder he returns angry.”

“You do not follow him anywhere. It isn’t all the time, either. You mostly go with him when you know you did not get to spend time together,” Tsuyu attempts to help me look at it from another perspective. Sadly, my mind overrides them to Katsuki’s complaints.

“W...What if he’s tired of me? What if he wants to break up?”

My heart hurt at the mere thought of our separation. Our relationship is relatively fresh. We started dating a year ago, yet I fell for him. Hard. I could not fathom to be with another guy.

“If I hadn’t been so dense about his irritations over my actions, I would been a much better girlfriend. I couldn’t even do that,” I was vomitting my mind out.

My breathing was still irregular, and I couldn’t see past the tears that blur my eyes. I wiped my cheeks and eyes to get a better view. The girls were trying their best to comfort me. Toru patted my back. Mina stroked my arm. Momo tried to plan out a mini recovery session from today. Tsuyu and Ochaco tried to convince me that he loves me enough to confront me about the situation. Kyoka even tried to make me revert my self-deprecating comments and thoughts. However, nothing helped. I really appreciated their kind attempts yet his words stayed printed at the front of my mind.

“I would love to battle Bakugou, right now. He needs to be held accountable for his horrible comments,” Momo exclaimed, standing tall with her right hand on her hip.

“He does. He made a huge deal out of the group assignment. You were clearly stressed when you tried to share your ideas,” Kyoka looked disappointed when remember the incident in the classroom.

“But he doesn’t like having me around too much. I should stop. I don’t want him to be constantly annoyed,” I sniffled as I wiped my eyes.

“I’m going to stop,” I whisper. I hear small mutters and grumbles throughout he bathroom.

“I won’t dicated you becuase it is your relationship. I do want to say that it is a part of who you are. You like spending time with him. You don’t need to stop that. I think you and him should talk about it,” Ochaco looks at me with his big, comforting eyes. The others nod in agreement.

“I don’t know. I don’t want any more complications rising because of me. If he’s annoyed by me, I should try to fix it. I’ll need to sort this out myself,” I quietly announced.

Who gave you that right?” his rough voice echoes through the walls. All of you heads turn to the left. Katsuki, Eijiro, and Denki were standing next to each other near the entrance of the bathroom.

“I didn’t think you overheard my conversation with those,” his points his rough finger at the duo behind him.

I looked at him, unsure of what to say. Noticing my tense behavior, he talked as gently as he can, “ I did not mean to make you think horribly about yourself.”

“Yeah, you have traits and habits that are weird to me,” he started. A jolt spiked throughout my body. I don’t think I’m ready to hear the end of it.

“But I like that about you,” he struggled to get the words out in public. My face flushes at the sudden confession. He looks directly at me.

“Never take issues, like this, on your own. I know how hard it can be but it’ll help us,” noticing that our conversation was getting private, the others began to hed back to class. It was almost the end of the school day, as well. Everyone waving and blurted a quick “bye” before heading out of the bathroom.

Katsuki turns around to shut the door. He locks it to make sure no one walks in on our conversation.

“Come. Let’s sit there,” he tilts his head to the bench I sat at earlier.

As soon as we sit, Katsuki exhales a loud sigh. Alarms went off in my mind. He’s irritated. I immediately began panicking.

“H..Hey, Katsuki. I really don’t mind leaving you on your own when you need it,” I started. I turn to face him but was suddenly embraced my his arms. He sets his chin on my neck and gently tightens his hug.

“Don’t... Don’t stop doing what you do,” he whispers near my ear. Warmth engulfed me. I felt safe in his embrace. His voice held no anger or irritation.

“But it’s irritating, isn’t it?” my hands wrap around his back, as well.

“No no no. It’s not. At least not the way you think. I complained to Kirishima and Kaminari about the perverts and jerks who stare at your and bother you when you come with me. That’s why I felt irritated,” he reveals. Then, it clicked. He must’ve noticed all the times I felt uncomfortable because of comments from boys and their stares. I never complained but... He noticed.

“I would rather have you stay back instead of dealing with those situations. I know you’re strong enough to take care of yourself. It’s still annoying when they don’t know their limits. I can’t even fight them properly,” he pulls back to look at me. I avoided his eyes but he lifted my chin up with his hand.

“Don’t stop doing what you do. Don’t stop being yourself. Having you with me makes my day better. I know I can be gnarly and cruel with my comments. Just don’t hesitate to tell me I’m hurting you. It’s not my intention to make you doubt yourself,” he rambles on.

“Even the cruel jokes I made back there are not meant from a serious place,” he reassures me as much as he can. His breathes were rigid and fast. His eyes were dilated, as well.

“Just... let me know, alright? I want you to feel safe and loved not hurt,” he whispered. With every sentence, my previous worries were fading away.

“Talk to me about anything that bothers you. Talk to me about any issues that come up.”

I couldn’t stop my heart from melting. He really is the best, huh?

“I know...I’ll try. You know me. It can be hard to confront people with anything I think is wrong,” I replied while taking his hand into mine.

“Mhm. Let’s work on that then,” he firmly stated. It shocked me for a bit.

“If I say anything that hurts you, hold me accountable. Tell me right away,” he looks at me for an answer.

“Okay, ____?” I nodded in return. I noticed his stance was relaxed. He seemed less tense about the situation. It must’ve been a huge baggage to get off his back.

“I will. I’m sorry for worrying-” he cut me off before I could end my apology.

“Hey! Don’t feel sorry for it. You’re not at fault for feeling the way you did after the classroom incident. I was an absolute asshole for that. There may have been a small misunderstanding but I still shouldn’t have embarrassed you with my comments,” his hands cup my cheeks.

“I’m really... I’m really sorry,” my throat tightened. Why does he have to be this... great?

“I understand. Thank you for apologizing,” I smile at him. My emotions were all over the place today. It went from neutral to extremely low to extremely relieved. Still, I am glad he and I were able to sort this out before it got worse.

“Don’t go crying on me now. I don’t want to see anymore tears today. Come on let’s head back,” he spoke softly.

Right after, stood up and held out his hand. His face held his usual daily expression, except there was a glow to it. I gladly laced my hands with his and we carefully exited the girls bathroom.

“Wouldn’t want to get you in trouble,” he said looking around to make sure no one saw our actions.

Today, Katsuki and I were able to have dinner together. It’s been a while since it was just the two of us eating dinner. Upon returning to the dorm, the atmosphere felt normal. The ones who were worried earlier looked glad when Katsuki and I entered the dorm happily. Mr. Aizawa did ask us about the situation. We informed him that everything was sorted so he let it go. Cementoss must’ve told him about the the classroom occurrence.

While I made my way to my room, I noticed all of the girls in front of my room. Their eyes held excitement and the look of ‘hurry up’.

“You don’t need to tell us everything,” Mina grabbed me so I can quickly open my room.

“Okay okay let me just,” after I heard the click, they all ran inside of my room.

They all chose the spot they felt most comfortable in. I climbs into my bed and chuckled with embarrassment.

“Do I have to tell you what he said? Because...”

“Well...” Momo began.

“I may or may not have bee made to create a device the let us hear what was going on,” my eyes widen at her confession.

“Don’t worry we promised to turn it off if anything... else... happened. We wanted to make sure he didn’t say anything horrible,” Kyoka spoke. The others nodded in agreement.

“His comforting action were too cute,” Mina chuckled.

“Exactly! I was shocked. Did you hear what he said?! ‘ Having you with me makes my day better.’ Aaahh! That- Just wow,” Uraraka gushed while quoting Katsuki. All of the girls flailed around or squished the pillow in their lap.

“Wait! Remember the...What was it? Right! ‘I want you to feel safe and loved not hurt’ That was so adorable, too, ” Momo immediately brought up another. Once again, the girls let out ‘awe’s and small chuckles. They did tease me about his words. However, they still appreciated that he was able to relive me of my doubts.

“I’m glad Bakugou cleared things up. That was very mature of him. You two are cute together. I really did not want the incident to separate you,” Tsuyu looked happy at my recovered state.

“Me too,” Hagakure agreed. Next to her, I noticed Mina had a tiny bit of mischeif in her eyes.

“How about we listen to the audio again?!” she suggested. A series of ‘yes’ echoed throughout the room.

“W-what?” my eyes widened.

“Come on! It’ll be fun!” Mina continued.

“I have the a player for it, if we want to,” Kyoka held up the device to play the audio.

“And you can have it after we analyze and listen to it,” Momo added while exaggerating ‘analyze’ with air quotes.

“Gosh... alright. I hope I don’t sound weird,” I agreed to their request.

As soon as Katsuki said, “Don’t... Don’t stop doing what you do,” Uraraka paused it.

“You can’t tell me he does not want to marry her,” she commented. Immediately afterward, the others made their own comments and agreements.

This process continued throughout the playing of the audio. With every pause, the were analyses and comments. Amongst all the chat about Katsuki’s soft side, I had the urge to check my phone. What I read immediately made the night better than it already was.

Katsuki: Let’s go out tomorrow. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

Katsuki: Don’t worry about people staring. I’ll take care of it.

Katsuki: Unless you want to, of course.

Katsuki: The girls are making you tell them about what happened in the bathroom, aren’t they?

Katsuki: Anyways, make sure you get proper rest

Katsuki: Goodnight

My hands quickly responded so I am able to reply before he sleeps. All those messages made me my stomach bubble with excitement.

Me: I’m glad we’re going to hang out. See you in the morning

Me: Goodnight

Me: I love you

...

Katsuki: I love you too

The heat on my cheeks that gradually grew with every text grew tenfold. My heart fluttered intensely as I gazed at those four words. I can hear the girls speaking about the audiotape of Katsuki in the background, but my phone had my attention. Katsuki always proved to be a great boyfriend. He never did it for show. Ever since the start of our relationship he’s been honest about how he felt. Both of us expected stumbles, but we made sure to work it out. Today was one of those day.

I’m just glad he never let go of me. I know him well enough to know that he will always listen to me. He will always want to fix things so we don’t end.
