Hi, I wanted to ask for a Clarisse fanfic where the reader is gifted in the arts? I would also like to ask that the reader be a daughter of Hades :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What’s a girl to do
Pairings - Clarisse La rue x daughter of hades! Fem! Reader
An - this lowkey sucked but YALL will live
Tumblr media
You had always been gifted in the arts. From dance, music, art itself and even theater.
Being that you were a hades kid most kids avoided you, not that because your dad was the king of the underworld but because just being around you gave them an unsettling feeling.
Something every great artist had was a muse, someone they could go to for inspiration, someone that gave their work meaning. But you? You didn’t have a muse.
Sure you’ve had inspiration come from all types of media but never once did you have an actual person you could call your muse.
That had changed though when you met clarisse. It started out small with small doodles of her. Then she started to show up as small details in your song lyrics. And even going as far as using her as your model in your photos
You two were friends.. but you knew you wanted more then that.
——
Clarisse spun her spear around on the sandy beach. She was so in the moment that she hadn’t heard the sound of your camera going off.
She ended in a pose with her spear tucked under her arm. Panting that’s when she realized you were sitting near by.
“You know its creepy to take photos of people without their knowledge right”
“Eh you’ll live” you smiled. Clarisse had always been beautiful even in situations like now where she was panting and sweaty from her workout.
You walked over towards her smiling sat the picture
She was a natural. The way clarisse moved her body it was like she was meant to be infront of the camera.
subconsciously you started leaning into her to show her the photo. “this one here, I like how your curls kinda spun around with you, you know” You smiled, clarisse nodded placing a hand around your waist, she had always done that but it didn’t mean it didn’t get you flustered everytime.
“Mmhm” she stuck her spear in the ground before reaching over placing her free hand onto yours clicking back on the camera to a photo of her standing with her spear pointed down the sun hitting her at a certian angle adding dramatics. “this one is better”
“Well I think both are fine” you smiled looking over at clarisse. Your faces were close. So close if you even just moved a little you might accidentally kiss.
You waited for clarisse to do something, to move away and tell you to piss off but she didn’t. Instead you started to feel her rub circles on your hip.
Almost out of a movie mark clarisses bother appeared. “Clarisse!” He yelled gaining the now irritated girls attention.
“The hell do You want Mark im busy” she looked over at him not wanting to deal his bullshit. “It’s Sam and Jane, they got into another fight and are in the infirmary now Chiron wants to see you about it all”
You watched as clarisses closed her eyes trying to calm down even a little. She looked back at you before squeezing your hip and letting go to head off to beat her siblings.
You stood there frozen and embarrassed. Clarisse didn’t like you. There was no way if anything she liked silena. Clarisse only saw you as a friend…
Right..
——
Around 3am you decided to sneak out of your cabin not able to sleep.
Lazily walking around the camp trying to not get caught you noticed a familiar girl jumping out the ares cabin window. Using shadow travel you quickly moved to stand beside the cabin.
Clarisse sighed as she landed on the ground, silently closing the window “since when did you sneak out”
“Fuck!” She whisper yelled having to pull her hand back from hitting you. “What the hell are you doing out here”
“Selling hardcore drugs— now you tell me why your ever so quietly leaving your cabin” you sarcastically spoke. Clarisse rolled her eyes in defiance. “Your a pain in my ass you know” she scoffed.
You shrugged your shoulders. “You’ve said worse to Me” starting to follow the girl into the forest you took in the scenery.
The full moon brought you a sense of comfort, mainly in the fact that the goddess nyx had always brought protection to people in need through the veil of night.
Clarisse continued until she came to a clearing in the woods, high on the mountian side and far enough away from the camp you wouldn’t get caught but high enough you could see the stretched out lake.
“Wow..” you whispered. “I never new this spot existed”
“That’s supposed to be the point”
“Is this where you take girls to makeout with them then torture them before k—“
“I’m not some insane serial killer dumbass” clarisse laughed pushing you softly before sitting down. You followed her lead sitting a little to close to her.
After a few moments you watched as clarisse silently complained befote grabbing some Kindle Wood arranging it to make a small fire. Using a lighter most likely taken from the big house.
After sitting back watching the fire clarisse looked over at you. “How long have you been doing all this shit”
You raised an eyebrow confused. “You mean photography” you chuckled, Clarisse nodded in response her face unreadable.
You sighed for a moment “uhh I’m not really sure, I just I’ve always had a passion for the arts and been naturally gifted in them, I like photography the best with painting being right underneath though” you tucked some hair behind your ear slightly embarrassed.
“Why me” she continued to asked. “Like out of every camper here why am I the one you take the most photos of me”
“Well I Ju—“
“Wait wait don’t tell me you like me” clarisse laughed at the end of her statement. You went to speak but decided to stay quiet letting clarisse finish her laughing fit it. She soon stopped looking over with a playful face. “Wait seriously.. you use me as your muse because you like me”
You started to get up embarrassed walking away quickly not wanting to listen to the girl yelling after you. About five steps into your leave clarisse grabbed your arm. “Gods damnit can you just wait” she huffed.
“Yeah because I just love being laughed at thanks clarisse” you tried to pull your arm away but it was pointless “you know it’s actually really shitty to laugh at someone when you find out they like yo—“
You were cut off by clarisse grabbing your head and crashing her lips against yours. Not caring how messy it was, clarisse kept a firm hold on your head while grabbing your waist pushing you against her.
The kiss moved from messy to controlled. You let clarisse hold you close, soft breaths leaving both your mouths not wanting to pull away but still needing to breathe.
Pulling away you felt clarisses hot breath on your lips. “Do you ever stop talking” she asked now with her hand on the side of your face comfortingly rubbing circles. You rolled your eyes but kept quiet, your arms around clarisses neck.
Clarisses kissed you once again slowly, she pulled away kissing your cheek. “I like you to dumbass”
“Really..?”
“Uh yeah you really think I let anyone take photos and draw me?”
You playfully pushed the girls shoulder before pulling her back into a grinful kiss
“Great now that we’re together can we please go back to the fire it’s cold as shit out here”
“Whatever La rue”

Okay I'm now home from watching the Barbie movie, so I have to bestow some knowledge upon you fuckers (aka me infodumping actual Barbie lore because there were a lot of references there).
So, first and foremost, in one scene, we see "Earring Ken" and "Growing up Skipper" (very short scene, don't worry if you missed it). But these were actual Barbie dolls released by Mattel way back whenever (See pictures below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, "Earring Ken" was actually "Earring Magic Ken". His whole thing was Mattel wanted to be cool and hip with the kids or whatever, so they created him. Except their idea of going out and finding inspiration and information as to what was "hip with the kids", was gay bars. And raves. As you can imagine, Earring Magic Ken did not stay on shelves too long (about 6 months) (though he did sell actually really well and I believe is still one of their most sold despite only being available for such a short time). I'm pretty sure his necklace charm could be swapped out too and also worn as actual earrings. HOWEVER, the part about Earring Magic Ken that kills me, is that because they went to gay bars, not only did they give him a mesh shirt and shit (as seen above), but the charm on his necklace? Is a cock ring. Did Mattel realize this? Probably the fuck not, but that's what it was💕
Growing up Skipper was also an actual doll, and just like in the movie, if you twisted her arm, she grew boobs. She also grew like an inch taller or something. I'm pretty sure she also was not on the shelf long, but she was introduced in the 1970s. So that's fun
Next up, Midge and Allan (who both play slightly bigger roles in the film but here's pictures anyways)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Midge was Barbie's best friend, and was released specifically because Mattel found themselves faced with high demand for a pregnant Barbie doll. But of course, Barbie can never get married or be pregnant or have kids, because it ages her, and obviously seeming a little older means Barbie is suddenly worthless and unappealing (Woo patriarchy!). So their solution was Midge, who, ironically, ended up being everything Barbie couldn't (which is kind of funny since she's supposed to be able to be any and everything ever). So, them making her only personality trait in the movie her pregnancy, is kind of spot on. She did have actual dolls initially but then seemed to disappear for a while, having been replaced with other "Barbie's best friend!"'s. Actually they also replaced Barbie's siblings several times but that's another post. Midge did eventually return though in Life in the Dreamhouse (See below)
Tumblr media
One thing they never mentioned in the movie, however, is that Allan was actually Midge's boyfriend. I don't have too much on him besides that but I think it's worth mentioning.
Anywho, there's my rant on some of the characters in the Barbie movie, if you made it this far, thanks :))

“You did this on purpose. I know you did.”
With a small laugh, you finished setting up the last sign in front of your table. You wanted the stand to look perfect. “What exactly did I do, Tess?”
She pointed to the booth beside yours where Bucky and Hal were also in the middle of getting their things set up. “You somehow got them to put us right next to the boys.”
You stole a glance at the “Sin On Skin” booth beside yours, the sign tastefully saying “S.O.S. Tattoo Parlor”. Bucky winked at you when he caught your gaze out of the corner of your eye. A goofy smile appeared on your face before you cleared your throat and got back to work. “You do realize I had absolutely no control over where they placed us since I didn't organize this event.”
The nearby elementary school had put on a Fall Festival over the last few years and the woman Steve started seeing was a teacher there. She thought it would be fun for the guys to do face paintings and temporary tattoos for the kids. It was Bucky who suggested that your shop sell baked goods, after running it by you first. Not only was it good for exposure for you and Tess while helping to raise money for the students, it was an excuse to spend the day a few feet away from your boyfriend.
How could you say no to that?
The only downside was that the weather for tomorrow called for rain. To be on the safe side, the booths were going to be in the gym so that the families could still enjoy some of the festivities if it stormed. No matter what happened, it would be a fun day for everyone.
“Then he did it and now I have to watch you two make eyes at each other between customers tomorrow,” Tess accused, but there was no malice behind her words. You didn’t argue since there was a good chance that you would check Bucky out and vice versa. “And aren’t you two hanging out tonight after we finish up?”
“Yeah. We’re doing a movie night,” you replied. You hadn’t had a chance to do a lot of fall activities with Bucky yet, but he promised that he’d take you on a hayride tomorrow before the event was over. And the two of you were watching scary movies tonight. A perfect excuse for you to snuggle against him.
Which will probably end with him inside me, so well worth the jump and scares.
“I still think he’s the reason why we’re next to each other,” Tess said, checking over the order you put together. You made sure there was a range of Autumn and Halloween colors and everything was back at the shop ready for you to set out the following morning. “Though I shouldn’t complain. You two are cute together and he makes you happy.”
“We are a cute couple,” Bucky said, winking at you again. “And she makes me happy, too.”
You had to smile as your heart skipped a beat. It still felt a bit like a dream that the handsome tattoo artist was your boyfriend, but he was yours. It was silly to think that the season was brighter because you had him around, but he was like the unexpected warmth you sometimes experienced on a cool day when the sun came out. If you told him that, you knew he’d argue that it was the other way around. That you were the one who brightened everything around you.
Bringing out the best in each other is what good couples do.
“Get back to work, Hottie. We’re almost done,” you teased when he walked around his table. Clad in one of his signature Henley's, maroon to likely go with the fall theme, you found yourself staring at his chest as he stopped in front of you. Your eyes snapped to his lips when he tapped them with his finger.
“Gimme a kiss first, Sugar,” he said, his voice as warm as your cheeks felt. “One little kiss. That's all I'm asking for.”
“Fine,” you agreed, moving in close. “One kiss.”
He cupped your jaw as he leaned in and deeply kissed you, instantly making you melt against him as you kissed him back. You smiled as you tried to pull away after a second, his lips eagerly seeking yours as he went in for seconds. You discovered after your first date that one kiss was never enough for your boyfriend. He claimed your sugary lips drugged his system with desire and the only cure was for him to have another taste, which made him crave you and your kisses more.
I crave him, too.
He wrapped a hand around your hip and dragged you closer as you mewled, a sound of need that you tried to stamp out. Arousal seized you as his tongue licked along your mouth. It wasn’t fair that his kisses brought such a strong reaction out of you, especially when there was nothing you could do to satisfy it. At least, not right this second.
I’m not going to wiggle my hips and rub my pussy against his cock. I will maintain some sort of self-control.
“Hey!” Hal grinned as you tore your lips away from Bucky’s, shivering at the slight growl he let out at being interrupted. The sound made you want him more. “You two can’t fool around here. Not unless you’re teaching Sex Ed.”
“Yeah,” Tess chimed in, handing you her phone so you could take photos. Bucky still had a hand on your hip, only allowing you to twist a bit. The possessive touch also had safety behind it, telling you that you had nothing to fear when he was close by. “Behave, you two. This is a school.”
Your jaw dropped before you snapped a few pictures, making sure to capture the entire booth. You’d have to get more in the morning once the treats were set out. “We are professionals. We would never fool around here.”
And, thankfully, no children were nearby to witness you and Bucky kissing each other since it was after hours. You couldn’t wait to see him interact with the kids though. They would adore him and his gentle giant demeanor. The kids would love all of them. Jake’s sister even planned to stop by so his niece could get a face painting done.
“So, you're saying if he dragged you off to a nearby classroom… Oh, come on. Like you didn’t think about it the second you asked for a kiss,” Hal said, shrugging when Bucky shot him a glare and set out a bottle of orange paint that matched the shade of his hair. You wondered if he’d keep it orange for November or if he’d go for a shade of red. “Or maybe you two will roll in the hay during that hayride you keep talking about.”
Bucky didn’t look at all embarrassed, swearing that the boys were used to hearing him moan on and on about you. It was a nice feeling. “Like she said, we’re professionals and we wouldn’t do that,” he argued, raising an eyebrow. “And did you just say ‘roll in the hay’? You sound like Jensen.”
“I’m a country boy at heart. I know all about rolling in the hay,” he smirked, looking over at you when your boyfriend pulled you closer. “Hey. Don’t classrooms have locks?”
“Hal, stop encouraging them,” Tess hissed as he chuckled. It was too late. They planted the seed and you knew Bucky was thinking about it, too. “Though he does have a point. Just go into one of the rooms and lock the door. No one will notice.”
“And there’s still time before we have to get out of here,” Hal added as he checked his watch. “Make it a quickie.”
“Hold on,” you said, handing the phone back to Tess when you realized you were still holding it. “You two are actually encouraging us to find a classroom to fool around in? The night before the event?”
Not that it wouldn’t be fun and a good stress reliever, but-
“It’s no different than you two in the kitchen,” your friend said, pointing at Bucky as your cheeks got hot. “Yeah, I had that counter cleaned twice.”
Bucky turned his head toward you, humor in his eyes as you played innocent. “You told her about that?” he asked, brushing a kiss to your temple. You had to tell her. It was technically her kitchen, too. “How I ate you out so good you almost cried?” he added low enough for only you to hear.
You trembled at the memory, the mere thought of his skilled tongue and fingers making your toes curl in your boots. Before you could open your mouth to say something in your defense, Hal laughed. “And it’s no different than the two of you messing around in the break room. Thought Andy was gonna buy a new couch to replace it.”
It was Bucky’s turn to feign innocence as you gazed at him, gently tugging on his bun as tried not to smile. “You told him about that?”
Earlier in the week, you waited around for him to close the parlor. The two of you chatted on the couch when you didn’t want to leave right away, which led to a heated makeout session. It wasn’t long before he had you in his lap, bouncing you up and down on his cock as he growled filthy praises. How well you took him, how beautiful you looked riding him. It was a feat that you could walk out before he took you home.
Where he wrecked you all over again.
“Steve told him, so everyone knows. Punk can’t keep a secret to save his life,” Bucky said, glancing around where a few others were starting to wrap up. “Look. Messing around in our shops is one thing. We own them. Messing around here is something else.”
“He’s right. And even if we wanted to mess around, I’m pretty sure the security guard or administrators will catch on if we suddenly take a stroll down the halls,” you said before your brow furrowed. “Wait a second. Where’s Steve?” you asked. You hadn’t seen him since he dropped off the table banner.
Hal looked behind him and shrugged. “Wasn’t he helping Rose grab decorations for one of the other displays?”
“It shouldn’t take that long, should it?” your boyfriend asked.
As if on cue, Steve rushed into the gym and came to a stop a foot away from the booth. His cheeks were pinker than usual and his hair was a bit of a mess. “Sorry. Rose was showing me around. She’ll be back in a minute.”
Bucky nodded slowly. “Thought you two were getting decorations.”
“Well, yeah. We did. She has them,” he said quickly.
“Stevie?”
“Yeah?”
“Check your fly,” Bucky said, nodding to his crotch.
Hal laughed so hard he almost fell over as Steve fixed his pants, you and Tess covering your mouths to not draw more attention as you giggled. “See? If Stevie can have fun in a classroom, so can you.”
The blonde looked slightly offended by the assumption. “We were not in a classroom,” he stated as you all stared in disbelief. It only took a moment for him to smile. “We were in an office. That’s completely different.”
You shared a look with Bucky, practically seeing the lightbulb turn on over his head. “An office?” he repeated.
Steve nodded, pointing to one of the gym doors. “Yeah, the principal's office is that way and the nurse’s office,” he said, smirking when he realized why his best friend was asking. “You’re worse than I am, you know that?”
“Worse than what?” a kind voice rang out, Steve's girlfriend gracefully walking over with a small box in hand. He took it from her hands immediately, like it was too heavy for her.
“Buck was wanting to, um, 'visit' one of the offices,” he replied.
Rose kept a neutral look on her face as she looked at you two. “So he told you,” she said carefully.
The poor guy really can't keep a secret.
“More like his open fly told us,” Hal chuckled, holding up his hands when Steve took a step toward him.
Rose placed a hand on his arm, stopping him in his tracks. “I normally wouldn't encourage this, but since Steve let the cat out of the bag,” she said, smiling when he gave her a lopsided grin. “The teacher's lounge should still be unlocked, but only for a few more minutes and I can't help you if anyone walks in. You're on your own. Got it?”
“Got it,” Bucky chuckled, leaning in close to breathe against your ear. “What do you say, Sugar? Think we can sneak in there? Have a bit of fun before our movie night? Break a few rules?”
The thought had you squeezing your thighs together in anticipation. “Thought you wanted one kiss before you got back to work. Not a quickie.”
“Let’s live dangerously,” he smiled.
Your breath hitched, something in your mind telling you to go along with the crazy idea. It wouldn’t hurt anyone. The two of you would clean up any mess you’d make once you were done. And if Rose, who worked here, had fun with Steve, would it be so wrong for you to do the same?
“You’re a bad influence,” you smiled back as he tugged you by the hand toward the door. “All of you!” you added when Tess laughed and Hal whistled.
But it’s good to be bad now and again, especially with the right partner by my side.

“If we both want to fit, we’ll have to cuddle”
Tumblr media
“If we both want to fit, we’ll have to cuddle”
Summary: Eddie invites you over for a movie night. Movie night is in his room. The only place to sit is his bed. His bed is small
Trope: Eddie x shy!reader; friends to lovers
Warning: use of y/n
30 day challenge: Day 7 Send Request <3
For the past hour Eddie has been running around the trailer making sure everything was perfect. Why? Because you are coming over, his crush is coming over. He has been crushing on you for a while. Every class he had with you he would find an excuse to talk to you, asking you for a pencil, piece of paper, answers, making a joke, anything to hear you talk or smile. That smile. The first time you smiled at him he was whipped, that smile made him smile, little did you know that when you turned to face the board you took his heart with you. You were very to yourself, only talking when spoken to, you had a small group of friends that he always saw you with. It took time but you eventually got comfortable with him, he was so grateful. P.E was one of your classes together before he sat on the bleachers alone looking at you, now you sit with him P.E became his favorite class. During that class he learned so much about you, this particular class you told him that you love the movie The Outsiders and how you have been waiting for it to be back in the video store. Eddie pulled so string, one of the workers he sells to works there so he told him he would give him a discount if he got the movie once the person returned it. So that brings you to now, he got the movie Monday, told you about Tuesday at school, then made plans to watch it together on Saturday. Since then he has been deep cleaning the trailer. Stressing out a girl is coming over, you are coming over.
You were just as stressed out as much as him. Everything seemed fine in theory of making of plans. But as Saturday came closer the bubblier your stomach got; you were going to Eddie’s house. Eddie what a beautiful man, you had a huge crush on him never in a million years did you think that he would talk to you let alone invite you his house to watch a movie. You triple checked your outfit, sat in front of your mirror in different positions making sure you looked good in all, brushed your teeth, took ten mints, and did everything you could think of to look pretty. When you felt decent you walked out quickly. You try to scurry pass your stepbrother room “Y/N” shit he saw you “Yes” “Where are you going” “out” “where” should you lie or tell him; lie he was way to over protective “To my friend's house” “Which one” think think “Alexis” she will cover for me “Are you going to stay the night” am I? What is going to happen tonight? Those bubble guts came back “I am not sure yet” “ok let me know” “will do Stevie” “Don’t call me that” Yea your stepbrother was Steve Harrington.
You drove to Eddie’s trying to focus on the road, but your mind couldn’t stop racing. It was a little scary, but you zoned back in when you pulled into the trailer park, not sure how you made it here. Eddie heard a car pull up and quickly looked out the window and saw your sage green car, you said that it was a gift from your grandma when you were 16. He fixed his hair then opened the door for you “Welcome to my castle” he said “hi Eddie” you spoke. There was a small staring contest between you too then Eddie broke the silence “This way to my cave” he led you to his room. You were about to be in a guy's room you thought, she is about to be in my room he thought. “Um movie is in going to grab the popcorn anything to drink?” “Water please” you sounded so sweet and polite he would get you anything if you asked him “Got it make yourself at home” You stared at his bed for a few seconds it was small but there was no other place to sit, so you sat at the corner. He walked in a minute later and was freaking you are on his bed, he tried to hide his excitement and climb into his bed “You can come further in I won’t bite” he joked you crawled next to him didn’t make any eye contact, your bodies were so close together you felt his warmth. Even being so close, your leg was falling off the bed, you tried not to think about how uncomfortable this was going to be. Eddie saw your leg he wanted to grab it a pull it close pull you close, "If we both want to fit, we’ll have to cuddle” Eddie said where did that courage come from “are- are you sure” “Yea I don’t need you falling off” he opened his arms. Your heart started beating fast, there were so many firsts today already and now you are going to be in his arms. Your body didn’t know how to react so you slowing lied on him, he chuckled. As the movie played you slowly melted into him. The movie ended but neither of you moved, if anything you are scooting closer together. Eddie turned you to face him “Hi” “Hi” you giggled “This is nice” “Yea” “Maybe this could be a regular thing” “What do you mean” you asked “Saturday could be movie date nights” “Date? Was this a date” “It could be if you want it to be” there was silence again he thought he messed up “I have never been on a date before” you said shyly “Me either, tonight was a lot of my first” “Me too” you grinned at him. “You were a lot of my firsts” he continued “How” “Well the first girl to come to my house, first girl to be in my bed, first girl I cuddled with” He intertwined your hand together “This is my first time holding a girl's hand and this is my first kiss” he leaned in you met in the middle fireworks explode all around you. He pulled away but you brought him closer “Sorry I um I really liked that” he pecked your lips “So did I” He put on another movie, but you feel asleep “first girl to sleep with me” he laughed cuddling into you more than falling asleep himself . You were awoken by banging on the door. You and Eddie did not want to leave each other’s arms, but it only got louder. “Stay here” he kissed your forehead. He opened the door to a pissed off Steve “Harrington?” “Munson?” “What are you doing here” “Why is my sister's car in your lawn” “Sister?!”

Hi! Could you possibly do 'You don't have to stay.' With Steddie from the angst writing prompt, please? Thank you in advance 😊
Hi! My apologies again for taking two weeks to get to this, but thank you for sending it! This one was fun to write :D
[No warnings; happier ending this time, I promise]
Angsty-ish Prompt List
-
Eddie feels like an idiot.
He just – he got so wrapped up in everything. In the way Steve has been keeping him company every evening, in the way they have dinner together and play cards together and watch movies together and fucking fall asleep together (Eddie and Wayne’s new place is bigger than their old one, but it’s not like the government sprung for a house with a goddamn guest room or anything). He just forgot that Steve isn’t really meant to be part of his life.
No, Eddie just has Steve on loan.
He is abruptly reminded of this fact one afternoon when he hits Family Video with the intent to pester Steve (and maybe even rent a movie) and instead stumbles right into the tail end of a conversation.
Maryellen Someone-or-Other from the year below Eddie (he’s never really seen the point in remembering names unless they’re a friend or a foe; he figures his brainspace has better uses than the names of people who don’t give a shit about him one way or the other) is leaning over the counter, making eyes at Steve. She’s practically batting her eyelashes and resting her weight in a way that puts the low-scooped neckline of her shirt prominently on display.
“Are you sure?” Maryellen is asking, bottom lip pouting out in a way that is, in Eddie’s opinion, far too obvious.
“Afraid so,” Steve replies with one of his softer smiles, like he might actually be sorry. “I already have plans tonight.”
And – plans? What plans? Eddie thought Steve would be coming over to his house tonight, like pretty much every night.
But then Steve’s eyes flick up from Maryellen and catch Eddie standing stupidly in front of the doors, and his smile widens a little, becomes something happier, sillier, and – oh. Eddie’s house is the plan. Right.
“Well,” Maryellen sighs, high and put-upon, pulling Steve’s attention back to her, “maybe next time.”
“Uh, yeah.” Steve nods. “Yeah, maybe.”
Maryellen glances Steve up and down one more time—and, seriously, obvious much?—before she straightens up and sashays past Eddie and out of the store. She doesn’t even seem to have a video with her. Had she come in just to ask Steve out?
And Steve had turned her down?
It’s not like Eddie is interested in what she’s selling, but he has eyes – Maryellen Whatserface isn’t the sort of date you just turn down. Not when she’s flirting and flashing her cleavage at you over the counter of your workplace. And she especially isn’t the type of date Steve Harrington turns down, certainly not to spend an evening sitting around in Eddie’s room doing a whole lot of nothing.
Of course, that’s not how Eddie sees it – not really. They’re not doing nothing if they’re talking, if they’re sharing stories or thoughts or even just dumb jokes. Not if they’re sitting quietly together because sometimes you can only be that type of quiet with someone who gets you. Not if Eddie is strumming random notes on his guitar and Steve is humming along, almost absently, like he doesn’t even notice he’s doing it.
It isn’t nothing to Eddie, but to Steve – well, now that Eddie thinks about it, Steve is probably just putting his life on hold so he can be a good friend to Eddie in the aftermath of all the Upside Down fuckery.
Which is very kind of him, obviously (which is apparently just the sort of person Steve actually is; sure, he complains a whole hell of a lot, but Eddie doubts if there’s a single damn thing Steve won’t do if he thinks he can help someone really in trouble), but Eddie doesn’t need him to do that. He doesn’t need any kind of pity friendship. He doesn’t need Steve to put all his shit on hold just to take care of him, only to end up resenting him because he can’t go anywhere or do anything because he’s too busy being the goddamn babysitter.
Eddie doesn’t need that.
“Hey.” Steve is the one leaning the counter now (and he doesn’t exactly have Maryellen’s assets, but damn if the position doesn’t make his shirt stretch appealingly over his chest, anyway) and making eyes at Eddie, except they’re sort of confused-and-concerned eyes, which makes sense, since Eddie still hasn’t moved out of the damn doorway. “You okay?”
“Just fine,” Eddie says, snapping back into motion. “I’m here to pick a movie for tonight.”
“Y’know, I work at the video store,” Steve says, arching one heavy brow. “I’m here right now, even. You could just let me pick something to bring home.”
Eddie almost twitches at the casual slip of the tongue – home. Like Steve doesn’t have other places to be, a better house to actually go home to.
“I could,” Eddie drawls, “but I have it on good authority—my own, in fact—that your taste in films is not to be trusted.”
Steve rolls his eyes. “Just because you can’t appreciate Sly or a good underdog story–”
“Two hours of dudes punching each other, Steve.”
“That’s not all the movie was, and you know it!”
“Two hours!”
And just like that, they fall into their usual banter, but somewhere in the back of his mind, Eddie can’t quite let go of what he’s been reminded of.
It follows him back home (to his home) with the movie in his hand (a decidedly non-sports-related movie) and dogs his thoughts and winds him up, and by the time Steve has gotten off work and is leaving his shoes politely by the door, Eddie is – well, he’s a little on edge.
A bit twitchy.
Maybe more than a bit.
Maybe he might be watching Steve, looking for signs that he doesn’t want to be there, that he has better places to be, that Steve regrets turning down Maryellen (if that even was her name? Now that Eddie thinks about it, it might have been Marie. Hard to say).
Maybe he watches Steve carefully as they make dinner, and as they eat, and as Steve heckles his movie choice just for the hell of it, and maybe he jumps on it a little too hard when, as the evening gets later, Steve glances at the clock and sighs.
“You know, you don’t have to stay,” Eddie says, shooting for perfectly casual.
Steve, who had been partway through rubbing tiredly at his eyes (probably about time to get those contacts out; he always forgets, and Eddie is always reminding him), pauses and pulls his hand away from his face to look blearily at Eddie. “What?”
“Just, if you have other places to be, y’know?” Eddie shrugs. “You don’t have to stay.”
Steve blinks. “What other places would I be right now?”
Eddie shrugs. He’s very casual about this and not worked up at all, as evidenced by all the easy shrugging he’s doing. “Oh, I don’t know. With Maryellen, maybe? She seemed pretty interested in taking you out tonight.”
A confused sort of look is working its way onto Steve’s face, like he has no idea what the hell Eddie is talking about, like he hadn’t just turned down a date earlier today. “Do you mean Madeline?” Shit, right, that was it. “Why would I want to be with her? Dude, what the hell are you even talking about?”
“I don’t know, Steve!” Eddie snaps, tossing his arms up in hopes that it’ll get some of his nervous energy out. “I just know that you’ve been here babysitting me almost every night for weeks–”
“I’m not babysitting, what are you–”
“And I figure that maybe there’s other shit you’d rather be doing! Places to be, things to do, people to fuck, whatever.”
And– Oops.
Eddie hadn’t quite meant to let all that out. And now Steve looks offended.
“What the hell is your problem tonight?” Steve asks, sitting up from where he’d been slouching on Eddie’s bed. “Did I do something to make you think I don’t wanna be here, or what?”
“I – well – do you want to be here?” Eddie splutters. “You’re a popular guy, and you’re turning down dates to sit around in my room all night? Doesn’t check out, man!”
Unnervingly, Steve doesn’t immediately snap back. He just stares at Eddie for a long moment.
“So, what? You think I’d rather be at some high school party? Drunk off my ass? Making out with some girl who doesn’t know me or give a shit about me?” Steve finally asks, voice low and heavy. “What the hell have I done since you’ve actually gotten to know me that made you think I still want all that shit?”
Eddie opens his mouth, but nothing comes out. He doesn’t exactly have a specific defense.
Steve scoffs. “Did you ever think that I just want to spend time with you? That I like being here, that I like you? But fine, whatever.” He slides off the bed and stands up. “You want me to fuck off so badly, I’ll go.”
And with that, he stalks out of Eddie’s room.
Eddie is so busy reeling with the “I like you” of it all that it isn’t until he hears Steve shuffling with his shoes by the door that he manages to snap into action.
“Steve!” he calls down the hall, running full tilt for the entryway, because he doesn’t know much, but he knows he needs to stop Steve before he leaves, before some kind of irreparable damage is done.
Steve doesn’t pause, reaching for the door and pulling it open, and what Eddie means to do is step past him, put a hand on the door, keep Steve there just a little longer so they can talk.
What actually happens is that Eddie’s momentum carries him flying right past Steve, into the door, yanking the knob from Steve’s hand and slamming the whole thing shut.
“Eddie, what the fuck!” Steve exclaims, (rightfully) startled.
“I don’t actually want you to fuck off, okay?” Eddie insists, because he is a god of eloquence when under unexpected pressure. “I want… I really want the opposite of that, actually.”
Steve shoots him a disbelieving look. “So you were being a dick because you want me to stay,” he says flatly.
“Nooot exactly,” Eddie draws the words out, reaching up and twisting his fingers in his hair while he tries to think. “I was being a dick because I want you to stay but I was afraid you wouldn’t want to.”
Steve continues to stare at him. “Eddie, that makes no goddamn sense.”
“I didn’t say it did! I think we know each other well enough for you to know by now that I am barely in charge of my brain, Steve!” Eddie huffs. “I just – I don’t get why you would want to hang around here when you probably have better options.”
“No, see, that’s the part that doesn’t make sense,” Steve says, his voice going a little softer. “You thinking I wouldn’t want to stay, or that there’s anywhere better for me to be. I don’t want to be anywhere else, or with anyone else. I just… want to be here with you.”
“You…” Eddie looks over at Steve, really looks, and catches the anxiety sitting in his expression, and the hopeful spark in his wide eyes, and realizes that he’s absolutely had the wrong end of the stick. “Oh.”
“Yeah,” Steve says with a shrug that’s just about as casual as Eddie has been all night.
“Well then.” Eddie reaches up and slides the deadbolt back into place before giving the door a little pat; its services will no longer be required. Then, before he can think better of it, he reaches out and takes Steve’s hand, threading their fingers together and giving him a little tug back towards the hall. “Come on.”
“And where are you taking me, exactly?” Steve asks, amused and something a bit like relieved.
Eddie continues pulling him down the hall, heading for his room, and tosses a grin over his shoulder. “I am taking you exactly to where we both want to be.”
And if the way Steve crowds him over the threshold and into his bedroom is to be trusted, they are perfectly on the same page.

Steve Harrington x Reader
Summary: She walked in on a Friday afternoon. Steve needed nothing more than to get to know her--if only he could find it in himself to speak to her.
Word Count: 5k
Warnings: just pure fluff, mentions of murder (but not frfr)
A/N: no this isn't based on a big time rush song you're crazy anyway!! I think this is my first real Steve fic? The first real one I got around to posting I guess. Cheers!
__
It was a Friday afternoon.
Correction, it was a terribly busy Friday afternoon. Family Video was seemingly the place to be, people swarming the building in hopes of renting new releases for their perspective weekends. Steve usually loathed his Friday shifts for this exact reason, countless questions about the new tapes, a dozen or so mothers berating him when a certain movie is out of stock—as if Steve Harrington himself is the reason behind the madness.
But, this afternoon was different.
This afternoon she walked in.
He had enough of the madness, leaving Robin all alone to deal with the wolves for a mere five minutes—he needed to get out of there. With his head in his hands, he sat on an unopened box filled to the brim with different assortments of candy—candy he needed to stock sometime today, a fact he surely couldn’t have forgotten even if he tried. Only two minutes into his escape, Robin came bounding in the backroom, a wild look grazing her eyes.
“Steve,” she nearly panted. “You gotta take over for a minute. This woman is just—ugh—not taking no for an answer! I told her we don’t have The Breakfast Club in stock, but oh no, why trust the employee who rented all ten copies earlier today? Huh? How about we give the girl who makes a little over three bucks an hour a hard fucking time!” Robin was rambling at this point, the words falling deaf on Steve’s ears.
“Robs,” Steve groaned, finally looking up at his friend. “Give me another minute, I have a nasty headache—”
“Me too, Harrington,” Robin sighed, plopping down on the box next to him. “Her name’s probably Debra and she’s a beast in fake leopard print.”
Steve snorted with laughter. “Fine, I’ll head back out there,” he stood up, dramatically dusting off his jeans. “I just don’t know why the hell our help wanted sign hasn’t brought in more folks, we’re dying out here.”
“No one wants to work for Keith,” Robin said simply.
“Damn straight,” Steve pointed, pushing his way back onto the sales floor. The leopard printed demon was nowhere to be seen, much to Steve’s utter relief—he didn’t have the energy to fight her off anyway. Finding his way behind the counter, the doorbell rang out, a pavlovian response nearly spilled from Steve’s lips. “Welcome to Family Vid—”
His heart stopped.
She was gorgeous, like she just stepped out of a magazine ad—the one’s his mom bought, not the trashy shit they sell down at the gas station. Sunglasses adorned her temple like a crown, her hair perfectly falling around the pink lenses. Steve didn’t know what to say, it felt as if he simultaneously forgot all the words in the English language and stuffed seventeen Saltines in his mouth—he was tongue tied.
“Uh, hi,” the girl said softly, waving towards the frozen spectacle behind the counter. “I saw you have a help wanted sign outside?”
Steve could only nod, making a good effort to keep his jaw from falling on the floor.
“Well,” she smiled, the kind that would make babies giggle at the sight, “I just moved here and sorta need a job so…” A resume was placed on the counter before him. It looked professional—way more than what Family Video could ever hope to ask for from an applicant, anyway. Steve couldn’t stop reading it. She was literally an angel, an answer to his very prayers—every one of them. If he had the power to hire her on the spot, he’d be tossing her a green vest from the back without a second thought. Part of him was cursing the fact Keith wasn’t here to interview her this very second, he needed to get to know this girl.
“I-I…” Steve tried to speak, feeling his cheeks grow inflamed with embarrassment. He wasn’t used to being so… foolish around a girl.
“Steve, is it?”
She knew his name.
Of course he knew she read it off his name tag, he wasn’t that thick, but hearing it come straight from her lips? He could have melted directly into the floor and no one could have stopped him.
“Yeah, this doofus here’s Steve, I’m Robin,” Robin appeared by his side, seemingly in the knick of time. “Don’t worry about him, we’re getting him the help he needs.”
The mystery girl giggled. “Ah, I see.”
“You want to apply here?” Robin asked, prying the resume from Steve’s—reluctant—hands. “Oh thank God, we’re dying for more bodies around here.”
“I love movies,” she explained quickly, noting how intently Robin was reading over her simple paper. “A-and I used to work at a movie theater back home before moving here, so I know a lot about the recent releases—”
“I’m gonna be honest,” Robin said, leaning onto the counter, voice dripping with secrecy. “You’re probably too good for this place, I mean, way too good for this shit-hole—”
“I need a job,” she repeated, almost desperately. “My folks forced me to move here and I’m trying to save up to get my own place back in Chicago, I’m not built for this small-town bullshit.”
This made Robin explode with laughter and Steve shrivel in despair. She had an expiration date—a way out of Hawkins.
“Well, I’ll make sure to pass this off to our manager—with a glowing recommendation, of course,” Robin winked.
“I appreciate it!” She smiled again, the sight nearly had Steve wishing he had his own pair of sunglasses to wear—it was blinding. “Well, I hope to see you guys around?”
“We’ll be here!” Robin called out, watching the girl walk back towards the door and out towards her car. A hand smacked across Steve’s bicep.
“Hey!” He finally responded, rubbing the aforementioned spot. “What the hell?”
“I should bring that whiteboard out of retirement,” Robin arched her brow. “You’re positively hopeless, Steve Harrington. What the fuck was that all about?”
“I don’t know, Robs,” Steve sighed. “She was just—I didn’t even know what to say!”
“Clearly,” she snorted. “You looked like a gaping trout—”
“I did not—”
“This was worse than the girl who asked for a Mint-Choco Deluxe and you handed her a straight scoop of ice cream—no cone. I had to practically chase her out with a stack of napkins and a thousand apologies.”
Steve cringed at the memory. “Maybe…”
“When Keith hires her—and you know he’s gonna—you better get your act together. I don’t wanna deal with…this every day.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Steve waved. “Sure.”
And deal with it, she did.
(Y/N) was her name, Steve had the pleasure of unpacking her new name tag for her first day. He almost wanted to keep it, but figured it would make him look like a crazed lunatic. Patiently, he waited by the front door, hoping to see her pull up in her car, ready and rearing for her first day on the job. Steve begged Robin to allow him the pleasure of training her, given he could somehow speak in her presence, of course. She simply rolled her eyes and agreed to the shift exchange.
A shiny, cherry-red BMW peeled into the lot—Steve noted it looked awfully familiar to his own car, minus the color of course. It seemed a bit out of place in a small town like Hawkins, but the car had suited her just fine. Everything about her suited her kindly, Steve had noticed, especially the clothing she wore. Family Video was no place for a fashion show, Steve could attest to that himself, but with the way she was practically strutting towards the doors? The parking lot was her runway and he was begging to see more.
“Good morning!” (Y/N) greeted cheerfully, pushing the glass door open wide.
“Morning,” Steve managed to squeak out. He pushed the unflattering green vest towards her. “Your uniform.” She easily slipped the fabric over her own shirt, the stark whiteness of her blouse really made the green pop.
“Well?” She spun around, twirling like a princess. “Do I look the part?”
Steve could only nod.
“So what’s the first thing on the agenda? Do y’all have a time clock?”
Steve nodded again, pointing his thumb towards the break room.
“Ok..ay…” She said quietly, walking in the direction she was given.
He could cry—it was so pathetic. The way this girl had him so worked up? How was he expected to train her? No, forget training her, how was he supposed to even talk to her? Steve had been in pickles before, but this one took the cake.
“So you just… don’t speak then?”
She had managed to sneak up behind Steve, who had clearly been deep in thought. Her angelic voice alone made him jump.
“I-I speak,” Steve explained. “I just… have a lot on my plate currently, s’all.”
“I’m sure working at the Family Video is real hard work, superstar,” she giggled, jumping up onto the countertop. “But I’m glad I don’t have to understand your training through charades."
“I’m pretty good at charades,” Steve said, crossing his arms. “O-or so I’m told…”
“I’ll take your word for it,” she smiled. “But seriously, I really thought you just didn’t want to talk to me or something.”
That couldn’t have been farther from the truth.
“So… I should probably show you the computer system for rentals,” Steve tried changing the subject—poorly, but she graciously turned her attention to the computer she so-conveniently sat next to. “Y’know, because that’s like, the entire job.”
The girl leaned in, not daring to remove herself from the counter top, trying to see what Steve was clicking on.
“You seem tense,” she noticed.
“It takes me a while to get warmed up to new people,” he lied.
“What? Like a cat?”
“…exactly like a cat.”
“Well, Steve,” she hopped off the counter, “it’s a good thing I like cats.”
He tried his best to hide the redness flooding his cheeks.
She made Family Video more enjoyable, even after her first shift, Steve thought. He already liked the job enough, spending time with his best friend and getting paid for it was already a huge perk, but now that he got to know her? He might just keep this job forever.
Forever lasted only four months.
“Steve!”
He peeked his head over the horror aisle, finding (Y/N) staring at him expectantly from the front counter.
“Yes?”
“I’m dying over here,” she said dramatically, falling over on the countertop. “It’s so… boring.”
“It’s a Monday morning,” Steve said simply, commanding every fiber in his being to not shrug at the statement. “Mondays are usually boring around here.”
“Everything about Hawkins is boring,” she said, not lifting her face up from the counter. “How do you manage living in this God-forsaken town?”
“I don’t think everything is boring,” Steve scoffed, ignoring the rest of the tapes that needed to be put away. His feet were already leading him towards the counter, as if they had a mind of their own. “I mean, I doubt you’ve run through everything this town's got to offer?”
She lifted her head up from the counter, a red mark gracing her forehead. “In the last four months of living here? I think I have. Hell, the one cool place y’all could have had burned to the ground.”
Steve winced at the mention of StarCourt, the wounds still fresh. “It wasn’t that cool…”
“Fine,” (Y/N) propped herself up, head in her hands, “name one cool place in Hawkins.”
“Skull Rock.”
He doesn’t know why he said it.
“Skull Rock?”
“Uh, yeah,” Steve sheepishly said, hand finding the back of his neck quickly. “It’s the go-to for the coolest kids in Hawkins—made popular by yours truly.”
“And what exactly is Skull Rock?” Her arms were neatly crossed by the time he managed to look back at her.
A make-out spot.
“A-an… experience?” Steve squeaked, trying his best to sound cool. “It’s hard to explain, you just kinda gotta go and see for yourself.”
“Huh,” she tutted. “Why haven’t I heard of this Skull Rock until now? Certainly if it was as neat as you say it is I would’ve heard about it by now.”
“It’s underground,” Steve tried to convince her. “Not physically, I mean. It's above ground, I promise. Underground in the sense that only the cool kids know about it.”
She snorted. “Cool kids?”
“Y-yeah,” He tried to double down.
“As in, like, high schoolers?”
“Other people besides high schoolers can be cool kids, y’know,” Steve said, trying his best not to cough.
“Maybe I’ll ask Robin about it when she comes in—”
“I could take you?” Steve is quick to interject. “To Skull Rock, I mean. Tonight, if you’re free.”
A smile crept across her ruby red lips. “Like a date?”
“Pshht, no,” Steve waved. “Like a thing friends do! An activity of sorts.”
“Sounds like a date.”
“An activity,” Steve corrected, feeling queasy at the thought she may actually say yes.
As if mulling over her options for the evening, (Y/N) stared directly into Steve Harrington’s brown eyes, pinning him to the spot with such a glare. “Hm. Alright.”
“A-alright?”
“Do you think I have to change for this ‘activity’?” (Y/N) motioned her hands up and down her body, giving Steve actual permission to fully look at her. Her outfit was already sensible enough—she was here to work, after all—he didn’t ever see a reason for her to change.
“Maybe different shoes?” Steve offered, looking down at her feet, adorned with ruby red flats to match her lips.
“What sort of shoes do you recommend? These are my favorite flats.”
“Sneakers. Something you don’t mind getting dirty—”
“I don’t mind getting these dirty.”
“Something more suitable for the forest,” Steve amended. “Sticks, mud, poison ivy. Would hate for the tops of your feet to succumb to that bullshit.”
“Succumb,” (Y/N) repeated. “Big word.”
“Average word,” Steve mumbled, feeling only a tad bit embarrassed.
“Average is fine,” she shrugged. “I have sneakers in my car. We could go after work?”
Six o’clock couldn’t have come faster.
Steve had spent the last few hours of his shift trying to best plan his escape from Family Video—an escape that involved pulling (Y/N) into his car before Robin could tell her what Skull Rock really was. Thankfully, (Y/N) hadn’t had the mind to tell Robin what their plans were after work yet, but he knew it would come.
The minute hand finally ticked to the top of the clock. 6pm on the dot. Steve practically threw off his vest and ran to the wall clock to punch out.
“In a rush?” Robin asked.
“Something like that,” Steve said, not wanting to share much more.
“Well, enjoy yourself Rob!” (Y/N) nearly sang, now standing behind Steve waiting for her turn with the wall clock. “I left the counter nice and warm for you!”
“I know you meant that to sound endearing, but it just sounds gross,” Robin laughed, not even looking up from the book she had been reading. “Get out of here before Keith makes you both work overtime.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” (Y/N) said, pushing her pink sunglasses—which were housed in the tiny locker she used every day—onto her head. “Besides, we’ve got plans.”
“We?”
“Gotta go Robin!” Steve could only shout, pushing (Y/N) out of the small room in the back—it could hardly be called a break room. Containing a small T.V on the wall, a stack of lockers, a small fridge, quaint table and a broken microwave.
“Alright, weirdo,” (Y/N) laughed, “we made it outside.”
Steve hand only blinked, but she was right. Somehow he didn’t recall the jaunt from the break room to the front door, much less the fact they made it out to their cars. “Oh.”
“Yeah,” she laughed again, “oh.”
He was sure his face was the near same color as her lipstick—cherry red and probably emitting the heat of a thousand suns. “Are you gonna change your shoes?” Somehow he strung together a full sentence.
“Go start up your car, pretty boy,” (Y/N) said smoothly, “I’ll meet you in a second.”
Pretty boy.
Start up his car, he did. He fumbled through the few cassette tapes he stored in his glove box, eager to find one she’d like. Though a thought like this had crossed his mind a handful of times, he never thought she’d actually agree to go out with him. No, not go out, this wasn’t a date. Right?
She had called him pretty boy.
And he was planning on taking her to the unofficial make out spot of Hawkins.
Maybe it was a date.
“There!” (Y/N) exclaimed, sliding into his passenger seat, showing off her worn shoes. “My well-loved sneakers! Just like you requested. How I allowed you to talk me into going to a random forest is beyond me.”
Me too. Steve thought.
“You’re not going to murder me, right?”
“What!?” Steve had already begun driving to their destination, but her sudden question had him nearly swerving off the road. “No!”
“That’s what a murderer would say.”
“I—why would I…?” Steve was at a loss for words. “If I was going to murder you, don’t you think I’d admit to it at this point?”
“No,” she shrugged, crossing her legs. Her sneakers were red too—her favorite color, perhaps? “I assume you’d admit it right before you kill me, not in transit to the murder location.”
Steve could only laugh. “You confuse me.”
“You love me,” she admonished.
Maybe he did, and if he didn’t? He certainly could see himself, though, sooner than later.
It only took another fifteen minutes of driving to reach their destination, parking his beloved BMW in a spot he knew all too well—part of himself cringed that he could admit that, even to just himself. “We’re here.”
“I’m still not convinced you’re not going to murder me,” (Y/N) hummed, hopping out of the car, a spring in her step.
He couldn’t help but chuckle, popping his trunk to dig for a blanket he knew he had left behind for one reason or another. “Come on,” he ducked his head towards a clearing, “it’s this way.”
“You really have to start explaining the appeal, Harrington,” (Y/N) said, pushing past a rather suspicious looking bush, following closely behind Steve. “This trek is nothing to scoff at.”
“Do you trust me?”
“I thought the murder accusations already confirmed that I did not?”
“Yet you still got into a car with me,” Steve said.
“I still got into a car with you,” she repeated.
As if on cue, Skull Rock, in all of its glory, peeked through the brush and into view—thankfully with no one else around.
“We made it!” Steve exclaimed, nearly impressed he remembered how to get here. Quickly unfurling the blanket he grabbed, he sat on the ground. “Come on, I promise it’s clean.”
“Doubting that,” she said, still sitting beside him. “So, spill it, what makes this place so cool?”
Steve took a deep breath.
“I, uh, may have stretched the truth a bit?”
“How far?”
“Huh?”
“How far did you stretch the truth?”
“Not by much…”
“You’re sweating,” she pointed.
“No I’m not!” Steve said, trying his very best to not look down at his pits, afraid they were betraying him. Looking back up at the girl sitting beside him, her ruby lips were twisted in a wicked smirk. “You’re making fun of me.”
“Nah,” she said, almost sounding honest. “But I also know pretty well what goes on around this rock—sick as fuck, by the way, it really looks like a skull.”
“You know about Skull Rock?” He was nearly dejected, embarrassed, even.
“I do.”
“And you still came here with me?”
“If it meant I could spend some time with you outside of work? Sure,” she said with her brilliant smile. “Though, don’t expect any swapping of saliva.”
“Then why…?”
Her knees tucked under her chin, arms wrapped fully around them. “I don’t have many friends here. You and Robin kind of are it for me, at least, since I moved here. I figured I should try and spend time with y’all before I move again.”
Her big move. The one she was saving up for.
“Back to Chicago, right?”
She nodded. “Yeah. Though, it’s going to be a while until I do actually move. Who knew trying to rent your own apartment in a big city is stupid expensive? Wait—don’t answer that, that’s a stupid fucking observation.”
“It’s a bit silly,” he agreed, trying his best not to laugh. “But, yeah, way more expensive than Hawkins.”
The sun had begun to set, not that they could see it, through the trees and all, but the sky was now a warm orange. The kind of color that reminded Steve of summer, melted creamsicles and sweet memories.
“What’s in Chicago, anyway?” Steve finally asked, eyes glued to the sky. The question had been on the tip of his tongue since he met her. “I mean, I never really hear you talk much about it—only when you feel the need to dig at Hawkins.”
“It’s where I grew up,” she shrugged. “All of my friends are out there, my life is out there.”
“I mean, you did just say Robin and I were your friends?” He offered, leaning back on his hands.
She narrowed her gaze, pulling her head up from her knees ever-so-slightly. “Most of my friends are out there,” she corrected. “I just… my dad moved out here for work, a job he literally can’t tell us about—my mom is stuck being some bored housewife waiting every night for him to come home, slaving over a home cooked meal, and I’m just his failure of a daughter who works at a video store.”
Steve knows that feeling a bit too well.
“It doesn’t even have to be Chicago,” she chuckled, mostly to herself. “I just can’t stay here. My forward thinking mind is too big for this town. I figure, maybe in the city I can find myself, figure out what this planet has in store for me, you know?”
“I do.”
“You do?”
“I mean, I never had the thought to leave Hawkins,” Steve said, still looking up at the sky—darker now, but still orange. “Especially now with all of the…”
How does he explain the Upside Down? Does he explain the Upside Down? No. She doesn’t need to know. Not yet, anyway.
“…you know, the missing people,” he finally said, finding the right explanation. “But the idea of going to a big city, finding my way and maybe figuring out what this big head is good for?” His self deprecating laugh echoed from under the large rock formation. “I get it.”
“Y’know,” (Y/N) relaxed her grip on her knees, “my mom had hesitations about moving here because of the missing people—afraid I was going to go missing too.”
“And your dad still moved you here anyway?” Steve still couldn’t wrap his head around the fact people would move here willingly, especially all that’s been in the news about their small town.
“I told you, big secret job,” she said, as if that was the only answer. “My dad’s answer to the problem was buying my mom a new kitchen set and me a car.”
“The BMW?”
“Hell yeah,” she snorted. “Though I suppose once I get to the city—any of them, I’ve decided—I’ll sell it. No need for a car if you’ve got decent public transit. I wonder how much I can get for it?”
“Probably less than what you’re thinking.”
“You’re probably right.”
The sun had finally set, leaving a hazy, sort of mystical hue over the rock and clearing.
“You could come with me, you know,” (Y/N) finally spoke up.
“Huh?”
“Get out of Hawkins? Lord knows I’d need a roommate. Rent is gonna be insane regardless.”
He pondered the thought. Moving out of this God-forsaken town with practically the girl of his dreams? It sounded too good to be true. “Huh.”
“You obviously don’t have to answer right now,” she said, nearly flustered. Was she flustered? “It was just a dumb thought…”
“It’s not dumb,” he said steadily, truthfully. “Not dumb at all.”
“What? You’re actually considering it?”
“Don’t ask me things if you’re not serious about them,” Steve joked, pointing at her. “I mean, it sounds pretty perfect. Leaving Hawkins, making a way for myself, trying to not rely on my parents… I dunno. Something to think about.”
She only nodded.
“Of course, I can’t leave yet,” Steve corrected, mostly to himself. “I have… unfinished business.”
“Ominous,” she snorted.
“A man has his secrets,” he smirked, turning to look at her. “Not murder-y secrets, I really can’t stress that one enough.”
“Handsome, funny and mysterious, the full package,” she hummed.
“You think I’m handsome?”
“I don’t want to stroke your ego,” (Y/N) said. “Surely you know you’re handsome.”
“I didn’t know you thought I was handsome.”
“I think everyone thinks you’re handsome,” her eyebrow raised. “Especially all those girls who come in to rent movies I know for a fact they have no interest in. Robin says you had a similar effect back at the ice cream place.”
“You’ve talked to Robin about my handsomeness?”
“I’ve talked to Robin about your obliviousness,” she corrected, “I think there’s a difference.”
He felt like his brain was melting. If he had a mirror, he’d check his ears to make sure no pink matter was dripping out. “But you think I’m handsome?” If the lighting hadn’t been as low as it was, he’d probably be able to see just how dark her cheeks had become.
“Irrelevant.”
He found the courage to scoot a little closer to her. “I mean, I think it’s pretty relevant… considering I think you’re pretty handsome too.”
Her head couldn’t have turned faster.
“Beautiful! I meant beautiful! Not that you can’t be handsome,” Steve felt himself choking on his own foot, falling deeper into a hole he knew he couldn’t get out of. “If you’d rather be called handsome, that’s fine by me, but traditionally, you’re stunning—so so pretty and I—”
“Steve—”
“A-and I’m messing this up,” Steve deflates. The crickets around Skull Rock must have been paid actors at this point. Steve made a mental note to bring a can of Raid the next time he came here—revenge of some sorts. “I can’t believe I’m messing this up.”
Something slightly wet touched his cheek.
“I don’t think you’re messing anything up,” (Y/N) said, pulling away from his face. She kissed his cheek. “I think you’re a little silly and overthinking a lot, though.”
“You kissed me?”
“I kissed your cheek, no need to short-circuit,” she smiled softly. “I figured it was a good way to bring you back down to Earth. Did it work?”
He nodded, a bit too fast for his liking. “Uh, yeah. I think so.”
“Good,” she said, so sure of herself. “You were really spiraling there for a moment.”
He chuckled. “Yeah, I guess I was.”
More crickets.
“Would you have kissed Robin on the cheek? If she was spiraling like that?”
“No,” she said honestly. “Just you.”
“Oh.”
“You took me to the make-out spot of Hawkins,” (Y/N) gestured to the rock above them. “Did you expect me to not kiss you?”
“You kissed my cheek,” he clarified, feeling bolder. “I don’t think that counts.”
“Hm,” she tapped her chin in faux-thought. “It probably doesn’t.”
“I could let you try again?”
“Oh you’d let me?” She crossed her arms, voice airy, light.
“Or I could kiss you,” he shrugged. “Dealers choice.”
“Oh what endless options I have,” she laughed, getting up from the blanket. It was only a little scratchy. “Come on, pretty boy, it’s getting late. My mom is probably worried sick I haven’t made it home yet. Probably waiting by the front window with some terrible dinner in the oven, I assume.”
She offered her hand, helping Steve up off the ground. “You’re probably right.”
“This was nice,” she said, walking back to the car. “Thanks for taking me out here, Steve. I finally found the one good thing in Hawkins.”
“Skull Rock is just that impressive, huh?” Steve laughed, his smile reaching his eyes.
“Something like that,” her smile was just as big.
--
BONUS: “Pop your trunk, I’ll put this nasty blanket away,” (Y/N) said, circling to the back of Steve’s car.
“It’s not that nasty,” he snorted, fulfilling her request. Climbing into his car and starting up the engine, he waited for her to throw the scrap of fabric in the back. In the corner of his eye, he could see her through the mirror, staring intently at the contents of his trunk. “How long does it take to put a blanket away?” He sighed, hopping back out of the car to join her, realizing quickly why she was just staring in his trunk.
“Y’know,” she clicked, “this doesn’t really help the whole ‘I’m not gonna murder you’ thing.”
In her hands was his tried and true baseball bat—still outfitted with spiky nails and the very essence of dried blood.
“I-I can explain—”
“You probably can,” she said, throwing the bat back into the trunk, slamming it shut. “How about over dinner sometime?”
He’d be stupid to say no.

Cupcakes and Kisses
Tumblr media
Mingi x Fem Reader (ft. ATEEZ members) Word count: 6.6k Genre: high school au, jock Mingi, kissing booth au Note/s: Based on the film Kissing Booth (2018). This was in my drafts since 2021? + Mention of Changbin of Stray Kids <3 hehe Photo credits: 1, 2, 3
High school—it's the period for the most embarrassing moments of your life. Not only was it the time for raging hormones and puberty, but also a time for wrong decisions.
And today was no exception.
Today was the last day of the pitch for the spring carnival at KQ Prep. The student council required every club in the school to set up a booth for the event. Or else, no extra funding for club activities.
You were the vice president of the culinary and baking club, or as others would like to call it, the foodies. It's not that bad or insulting, to be honest (depending on you if you take it to heart). It is certainly not for your best friend, Jung Wooyoung, who was also the president of the club.
You and Wooyoung were like a tandem, a buy-one-get-one-free deal. In many ways, you and Wooyoung fill each other up: you were the shy and patient one, while Wooyoung was the confident and loud one. There was never a boring moment with him, but that doesn't mean all moments with him were good. Like right now...
Wooyoung, with a firm grip on your school blazer sleeve, dragged you across the hallway, whining, "It's a good idea!"
You, on the other hand, tried to pull away, saying, "No, it's not!"
Wooyoung grumbled. "The water sports are doing a toss and dunk booth! We have to beat their sorry asses!"
"You just want to beat Changbin!" You tried to pull away again but Wooyoung's grip was so firm that your school shoes were starting to skid against the school floor. "How is a kissing booth by us any better?!"
"It will be a hit!"
"It spreads germs!"
"We'll provide sanitation and mints!"
"We could be sued for public indecency!"
Wooyoung sighed and let go of your hand. "Oh, come on, live a little, Y/N."
You shrugged. "Can't we just make a bunch of food for the carnival? I know everyone will be hungry."
Wooyoung gave you a pointed look. "Everyone is going to sell food and trinkets at the carnival."
"Well," you jutted your chin out in confidence, "we could do, uh, well, an apple bobbing competition?"
Wooyoung scowled at you. "That's boring." He sighed. "Look, the majority of the officers already agreed to the kissing booth, Y/N. Except you."
"That's because you implied that San will be in the lineup of kissers," you stated. "Even though you haven't even asked him yet."
"That's because he and I think alike. Trust me, he would agree."
You pouted. "And trust me, the food will sell."
Wooyoung smiled and patted your head. "Oh, sure, you do that," he said before turning around and scurrying towards the student council's office.
You sighed.
-----
You slumped on the empty front steps of the school, sporting a frown on your face. Wooyoung was taking so long in the meeting. You hoped the kissing booth was rejected by the student council.
The doors of the school opened, the sound of the creaking metal startling you out of your thoughts. You looked back to see Song Mingi, the star of KQ Prep's basketball team, exiting the building and looking fresh out of a shower. He probably just finished practice.
You looked away before he could catch you staring. Mingi was one of those guys who looked straight out of a movie—tall, handsome, athletic, always wears a varsity jacket, drives a Jeep, and center of the school's attention. But it would be foolish to think that he's arrogant and proud like the trope. He's one of the sweetest and nicest people you ever met.
You had a few classes with him. You could say that the interaction between the two of you is funny. He could be playful yet gentle and respectful at the same time. And in time, you also found yourself liking him like the entire student body.
Unbeknownst to you, as soon as Mingi saw you alone on the steps, he smiled and slightly hurried down. "Hey, Y/N," Mingi greeted, plopping beside you on the warm pavement.
You internally freaked when you saw Mingi next to you. The loose shirt, the sweet scent of his shampoo, and the dopey grin were too much for your poor heart.
"You had a club meeting today?" Mingi asked.
"Not really," you responded. "I'm waiting for Wooyoung to finish his pitch for the spring carnival."
Mingi nodded. "And what will your club be doing?"
You groaned. "Don't remind me. It's embarrassing."
Mingi chuckled. "Why? It can't be that bad."
You sighed before muttering, "it's a kissing booth."
Mingi's eyes widened in surprise. "That's... interesting."
"It's all Wooyoung's idea," you shrugged. "Nothing better than to capitalize on teen hormones, right?"
"Right," Mingi said monotonously.
Seeing his somewhat dry response, you slumped. "I told you it was an embarrassing idea."
"No, I mean, yes—I mean," Mingi stuttered a response. "It was just unexpected, that's all." Mingi somewhat looked conflicted, but he still smiled softly at you. "Is it alright for me to ask if," he paused.
"If what?"
"If you—I mean, would you be joining?" Mingi asked.
You blinked in thought. "What do you mean?"
Mingi studied your confused expression before shaking his head. "Nevermind," he said, standing up.
You groaned. "Great, now you got me curious."
"It's nothing." Mingi laughed. "But, hey, if teen hormones bring you the money, then, why not?" He said, making you laugh as well. "Got a ride home?"
"Yeah," you smiled, "I'm riding with Wooyoung."
Mingi nodded. "Alright, I'll see you around then, Y/N."
You blushed. "Yeah, see you," you said as Mingi continued his way down the steps.
"Hey," he turned to you one last time, flashing you his oh-so-perfect smile. "You look cute as always, Y/N," he said before heading towards the parking lot. You swore you could've melted right on the front steps that day.
-----
It was no surprise the council approved the kissing booth idea. You totally blame Wooyoung. The boy could probably smooth talk himself out of jail if the situation calls for it.
Your club already started building the podium and mini stage for the booth in the school courtyard because there wasn't room in the Home Economics classroom. The weather was too perfect to ignore by anyone who had free period at the time.
"I'm going to get more paint," Wooyoung said to you before jogging towards the doors and into the building.
You were left alone with a few of your members, who were engaged in a hushed conversation while you minded your own business.
You took a peak at the guys playing at the basketball court. It's no surprise that Mingi and his friends were playing. They always do during free period. They must really love the sport.
It is also no surprise that they have a few spectators as well. It's the only time you would ever find Mingi and his friends setting their blazers aside, donning only their school shirts that accentuated their build so heavenly. Not that you were staring…
Speaking of, Yunho and Mingi laughed among themselves as Yunho tried to shoot the ball. Mingi effectively blocked him with his hand, however the ball bounced out of the court. It bounced until it was rolling over the pavement and stopped right where you were painting. You were able to grab the ball before it could barrel into the newly painted podium.
Seeing where the ball ended, Mingi ran towards you. "Hey," he greeted as he picked up the ball and crouched down next to you, "it's looking great. What's it for?" He asked, referring to the podium.
"It's for this week's carnival," you answered with a sigh.
"Right," Mingi chuckled awkwardly. "Umm," he paused, "so what will you be doing while," he drifted off, evidently conflicted as he pondered over his words carefully.
You looked at him funny. "While...?"
"While, you know," Mingi shrugged, "while people are kissing."
"I'll just man the booth," you said nonchalantly. "I'll leave it to Wooyoung and the others to facilitate the germ spreading."
Mingi laughed, looking somewhat happy and relieved at the same time. "Still haven't warmed up to the idea, I see."
"Never."
Mingi grinned. His face morphed into embarrassment as Yunho called for him from a few meters away. "Are we going to play, or are you too busy mingling, Mingi?"
Mingi rolled his eyes before smiling at you. "I gotta go. I'll see you around, Y/N."
You waved at him as he stood up and went back to his friends. You chuckled at the sight of Yunho giving Mingi a headlock and basically hauling him back to court. The boys laughed between themselves before returning to their game with their other friends.
You were feeling blissful, like how you always felt whenever you and Mingi talked to each other. You truly liked the guy. However, the blissful feeling was short-lived as a wild Wooyoung plopped down next to you. "What was that?!" He asked.
You blinked curiously at him. "What was what?" You looked at the spot you were previously painting. "I'm almost done. I didn't miss a spot as far as I could tell."
Wooyoung rolled his eyes. "I wasn't referring to the podium. I was referring to you and Mingi!" He exclaimed.
You looked at him funny. "It was just a friendly conversation."
"Friendly?" Wooyoung sighed exasperatedly. "Oh no no no, honey, you didn't see what I see. The guy is into you!"
"Don't be ridiculous, Wooyoung," you shook your head. "We have always talked like that. He's just super nice—"
"Na-ah! Again, you didn't see what I see," Wooyoung replied. All of a sudden, Wooyoung's face broke into excitement. He started slapping your arm, making you groan not in pain but in annoyance. "I just thought of the most brilliant idea EVER."
You frowned, not liking where this was going. "What?"
-----
"This is worse than you pitching the kissing booth idea to the council."
"Oh, come on," Wooyoung said as he kept pushing you towards the gym where the basketball team was training. "I will be of service to you forever if you manage to get him."
It was already past class hours when Wooyoung dragged you into putting his idea into action. He said you guys should have a meeting about the spring carnival after class. But alas, he deceived you again. That sly fox, you thought.
Wooyoung faced you towards him. "Alright, your uniform is clean, no evidence of your lunch anywhere," you rolled your eyes as Wooyoung checked you up and down. Wooyoung scrutinized your face before smiling triumphantly. "No booger or drool in sight too," he said.
"You—!" You exclaimed, but Wooyoung turned you around again and shoved you closer toward the gym doors. Sighing, you walked toward it, and right when you were directly in front of the entrance, you looked back at him. "How is this the most brilliant idea you ever had, again?"
Wooyoung shrugged. "The plan here is simple: talk to Mingi and his friends into joining our lineup of kissers so we can get more people to come to our booth."
"I don't want to use him, Woo."
"The man's too soft for you," Wooyoung smiled. "He will do whatever you want, I guarantee."
You gave him the most innocent look you could ever muster in an attempt to change his mind. But Wooyoung just shooed you with his hand and raised his eyebrows pointedly. With a defeated sigh, you opened the doors and entered.
The basketball team was in the midst of a practice game. You immediately spotted Mingi, running while dribbling the ball across the court. When he managed to outrun his opponent, he immediately made his shot, the ball flying through the air and into the hoop. You stared at him, awed as he was in his element.
A bunch of squeals echoed in the gym. There was an audience watching with excited grins and squeals near the team's benches. It was an open practice after all. Sighing, you sat awkwardly at the side.
The coach blew his whistle, signaling that training was over. The players rejoiced and immediately jogged to their bags scattered on the benches. There were a few girls who called for Mingi, but he only smiled sheepishly and went to his gym bag.
"Hey, Mingi," Yeosang, his friend and teammate, spoke between his breaths. "Isn't that your friend?"
Mingi looked at wherever Yeosang was pointing. And true enough, you were there at the edge of the bleachers, awkwardly twiddling with your fingers.
"Yeah," Mingi said, dumbfounded at the thought of you watching their training.
"I think she's looking for you," Yunho, Mingi's best friend, said. He shook his head in amusement, eyeing Yeosang knowingly as Mingi started wiping his sweat and combing his hair deliberately to the back. Mingi hastily gathered his things before approaching you.
"Hey," he greeted with a smile.
You stood up awkwardly. There was something about a wet-haired Mingi in a basketball jersey that had you tongue-tied for a moment. "Uhh, hi, umm, Mingi."
"Were you waiting for me?"
"Umm, yeah, can I talk to you about something?"
"Sure, have a seat," Mingi said as he sat a bleacher apart from you, not wanting you to smell his sweaty state. "What's up?"
"Well, our club is hosting a kissing booth for the spring carnival," you slightly frowned at your awkward self. "Umm, but I think you already knew that."
Mingi chuckled and nodded amusingly. "Yeah, you might have mentioned it once or twice," he joked.
You let out a small laugh. "Yeah, I did, didn't I? But, well, you see, Wooyoung asked me to ask you about something."
Mingi nodded again, urging you to go on.
You sighed nervously. "Can you," you cleared your throat, "can you be—wait, I must emphasize that it was Wooyoung's idea."
"It was Wooyoung's idea," Mingi repeated. "Got it. Crystal clear. Now, what's up with Wooyoung's idea?"
You sighed defeatedly. Well, here goes nothing, you thought. "Can you be one of the kissers for our kissing booth?"
Mingi's eyes turned wide. "What?"
Your lips formed a thin line. "Umm, can you be one of the kissers for our kissing booth?" You repeated, less confident this time.
Mingi blinked unbelievably. "Why me?"
You sighed. "Well, Wooyoung was hoping your friends too. He said that having the players of the basketball team would bring revenue to the booth."
"Oh."
You frowned. "I'm sorry, I told Wooyoung you might be uncomfortable with it, but he insisted that I should still ask you."
"Why would I be uncomfortable with it?"
"I don't know," you shrugged. You were busy playing with the ends of your school blazer as the conversation pursued. "I guess, I didn't pin you to be the type to openly kiss strangers, or show public displays of affection."
"Maybe," Mingi side-smiled, "maybe not. Or, maybe it depends on the person."
"Oh," you muttered, "sorry. I didn't know."
Mingi then leaned on his knees, getting a better view of your slightly flustered face. "Do you want me to be a kisser?"
"What?" You stared at him blankly.  "Well, Wooyoung said—"
"I mean, do YOU want me to be a kisser?" Mingi emphasized, "You as in Y/N L/N, and not Jung Wooyoung?"
You didn't reply immediately, pondering over what his question meant. "Why are you asking me?"
"I don't know," Mingi said. "I feel like I should listen to you."
Why, though? This conversation was going nowhere and it was making you more nervous than before. Not to mention Mingi's inquisitive gaze that had you looking anywhere but him.
Do you actually want him to, though? I mean, the kissing booth opens so many opportunities, but you were uncomfortable with the thought of him... the thought of him kissing...
"No," you said.
Mingi smiled, nodding at your answer, which confused you. "Then I won't," he sat properly again against the bleacher, letting his intense gaze turn into a soft one. "I won't join then."
"What? Why?" You were dumbfounded.
"Just tell Wooyoung I'm busy or something," he said. "But I will try to talk to my friends, though. Emphasis on the word 'try.'"
"W-Would you have joined if I said yes?" You probed, but Mingi already stood up as if the conversation was already over, smirking at your confused look.
"Do you have a ride home?" He asked.
"Umm, yeah, Wooyoung's right outside," you answered.
"Well, then, I'll see you around." Mingi smiled at you for the last time before exiting the gym.
You sat back on the bleachers. Though your stance was already relaxed due to the conversation being over, your mind still couldn't wrap around what just happened in the conversation. Would he have agreed if I said yes?
The doors of the gym creaked as someone entered. It was Mingi again. He approached you with a different glint in his eye this time. What now?
"Hey," Mingi greeted. "Could you hold this for a moment?" Before you could ask, he put the object he was referring to in your hand. It was a set of keys—car keys, in particular. "Don't lose it, okay? I'll be quick, I swear." And just like that, he left again.
You stared at the keys in your palm. You really like Mingi, but he was seriously giving you a whiplash at the moment.
Your phone buzzed in your blazer pocket, indicating that you received a text message. You pulled it out to see a text from Wooyoung.
There's an emergency at home. Had to pick up Kyungmin from our grandma's house. Go get your man!
-----
You walked back and forth in the hallway, in front of the boy's locker room. You didn't know why Mingi left these keys with you, but you figured you had to return them to him before you leave for the bus stop. You couldn't just leave it somewhere and message him about it. Someone could steal it. Or worse, someone could steal his car.
Just in time, Mingi exited the locker room, fresh out of the shower and now sporting a big hoodie and sweats. "Hey," Mingi smiled.
"Hey, you gave these to me for some reason," you jiggled the car keys before placing them on his palm.
"Right," Mingi chuckled. "Shall we?"
You stared at him. "Shall we what?"
"Wooyoung already left, didn't he?"
"How did you know?"
Mingi chuckled. "The hallway was empty when I left," he shrugged, putting his hands in the pockets of his hoodie, "I figured he went somewhere."
"Ah, yeah, he said he had an emergency at home," you responded, following Mingi outside the school.
Truth be told, Mingi met Wooyoung in the hallway.
---
Mingi smiled as he saw Wooyoung in the hallway. "Hey," he greeted. "Sorry, I don't think I can join. I think I have to visit my grandma that day."
Wooyoung slumped. "Oh, okay. Where's Y/N?"
"She'll be right out, I guess," Mingi replied. "See ya—"
"You like her, don't you?" Wooyoung asked.
"Uhh," Mingi blushed. "I-well, I, umm—"
"Yup, you like her," Wooyoung smirked. "Why won't you ask her out then?"
Mingi sighed. "I don't think she's interested in me in that way."
Wooyoung scoffed. "Believe me, she does." He started walking away. "I'll be taking my leave. Hope you get the guts to ask her out."
Mingi sighed again when suddenly he remembered, "Hey, aren't you her ride home?"
Wooyoung turned around and started walking backward with a smirk. "Am I?" He waggled his eyebrows before disappearing in the hallway.
Mingi grinned and shook his head in amusement before rushing back inside the gym to leave you his car keys.
-----
Mingi glanced momentarily at you with a smile. He would have to apologize in the future for using your kindness like that. But he hoped that doing this would drive him to ask you confidently out on a date.
Mingi opened the school doors wide enough for the both of you and waited until you were completely outside before closing it.
"Come on, I'll give you a ride," Mingi offered.
"Oh, no thank you," you hastily refused, "I'll take the bus."
Mingi shook his head. "I'm not taking no for an answer. We live a few blocks away, anyway, so it's really convenient."
"But I don't want to impose," you sighed.
"You're not, Y/N," Mingi said. "And you won't. Like ever."
You sighed again. "But—"
Mingi shook his head then snatched your school bag. "If you ever want to see this bag again, you're going to have to catch me," and with that, Mingi ran towards the parking lot.
"Hey, no fair!" You followed him, pouting as the distance between the two of you widened. Damn his athletic build.
You chased after him, groaning in annoyance when Mingi reached his car and wiggled your bag as if to spite you. But you both found yourselves laughing as soon as you almost barreled into him and he caught you before you both could barrel into his jeep.
"Come on, Y/N, it's really not a bother," Mingi said, opening the passenger door.
You sighed. "Fine," you huffed as you grabbed your bag and settled in his passenger seat. "Just this once," you told him.
"Oh, don't count on it," Mingi said, winking at you before closing your door. You swore he would be the death of you.
As Mingi drove his jeep out of the school lot, you both fell into a casual conversation. "So why don't you want me to be a kisser?" Mingu asked.
You narrowed your eyes at his teasing expression. "Oh, stop smiling. I don't want anyone to be part of that"
"I guess, you didn't have much say on the idea?"
You slumped against the car seat with a soft 'yeah.'
Mingi looked at you momentarily before focusing on the road. "What was your idea?"
"Nothing special." You smiled. "I was thinking of just baking cupcakes or pastries."
"I think that's a great idea."
"Yeah, right," you muttered sarcastically.
"No, I swear. I think your baking's great," Mingi stressed.
"How would you know?"
"Because I bought and ate a lot from last year's fundraiser." Mingi smiled and chuckled, almost as if he could smell and taste your fresh batch just by thinking about it. "Especially those cupcakes. I swear, they're good."
"Huh, no wonder the cupcakes sold out easily," you chuckled. "We had an influencer."
"Or," Mingi drawled, "your baking is just that good." He smiled, switching his gaze back and forth between the road and you.
"Said no one ever," you shot back teasingly.
"I just said like seconds ago that they're good." Mingi shook his head in disbelief. "You don't take compliments very well."
"Maybe because I don't usually get them," you retorted.
"Ahh, all the reason for me to compliment you more then."
You looked at him before turning away upon seeing his smirk. "Oh, stop it," you said jokingly, but your heart felt like it was ramming against the seatbelt of his car.
The car slowed down to a stop just right in front of your house. You were about to thank him when Mingi suddenly exited the car. He rushed to your side before opening the car door.
"Thanks for the ride," you said. "You didn't have to do that."
"I don't mind," he replied, following you to the front door.
"And you didn't have to walk me to the door." You chuckled. "It's literally like a few steps away from the fence."
"But I want to, though." Mingi shrugged and put his hands inside the pockets of his hoodie.
You both arrived at the front door. You were too busy finding your keys to notice that he was lingering to stay with you longer. As you opened your front door, you finally noticed his awkward stature. "D-Do you want to have dinner with us?"
"Oh," Mingi snapped out of it. "Uhh, maybe next time. My mom's waiting for me at home."
You nodded in understanding.
"Y/N," Mingi sighed. "Do you want to...?"
"What?"
"I mean, umm," Mingi scratched his head awkwardly. "Do you—do you have any of those cupcakes lying around?"
"Oh, could you wait here for a minute?" You smiled before disappearing into your home.
Mingi palmed his face in frustration, muttering 'stupid' and 'dumbass' to himself. He pulled himself together when he heard your footsteps nearing.
You came out again with a small box in hand. "I baked them last night but they're still good," you said, handing out the box of cupcakes to Mingi.
"Thanks," Mingi grinned sheepishly nonetheless. "I'll give some to my mom."
"You better," you smiled.
"Thanks again, Y/N. I'll see you at school," Mingi started walking backward with a soft smile.
"See you," you waved at him. "Thanks for the ride."
Mingi winked at you before hopping into his jeep. As soon as Mingi's jeep disappeared into the night, you slumped against your front door and tried to calm your blushing self.
-----
It was the day of the dreaded carnival. The field where your school held the said carnival was almost in full swing, the lights and excitement gradually increasing as time passed by.
Your club has been there since early morning to finalize everything for the booth. Despite your judgment against the club's concept, you still had to do it for the sake of the team.
Although, you had convinced Wooyoung to sell baked goods nonetheless. Your point was to remind the audience that you were still the culinary and baking club of the school. Thankfully, he agreed.
So, here you were, setting up a separate table for different baked goods beside the registration.
Wooyoung surprised you with an arm around your shoulder and a big grin. "I can already feel wads of money in our laps." He dramatically inhaled for effect. "I mean, look at our lineup so far."
You begrudgingly looked at the people readying themselves on the mini-stage.
Leave it to Wooyoung to invite people from the top of the high school food chain. Everybody likes Wooyoung anyway. At least there were a few friendly faces—school mascot San, street dancer Seonghwa, up-and-coming celebrity Jongho, and... student council president Hongjoong?
"How did you get him?" You almost giggled at Hongjoong's icy demeanor just standing in the middle of the lineup.
"Oh, he owes me," Wooyoung said nonchalantly. When you gave him a look, he just replied, "Don't ask."
You shook your head as if to shake the idea of Hongjoong in Wooyoung's debt. It's an amusing sight, though.
"So where's your pretty boy's friends?"
You shrugged. "I don't know. I haven't seen them ever since."
You knew it was too good to be true. Your moment with Mingi lasted only a day as you haven't seen him for the rest of the week. Not even on free period. And when you had a class together, he looked like he was about to doze off and fall from his desk. You didn't want to be a bother.
"Oh, wait, nevermind. Here they come."
You immediately glanced up to see Mingi, Yunho, and Yeosang walking toward your booth. You could feel the crowd starting to buzz upon seeing the star players approach the kissing booth. Your gaze landed on Mingi who sported a plain oversized shirt and ripped jeans. So simple yet so handsome.
"Hey," Mingi greeted with a smile, never looking away from your gaze.
"H-Hey, how have you been?" You tried to keep your blush at bay.
"Well—"
"We're so glad to be here, Y/N. Mingi really convinced us to be here," Yeosang smiled in a—teasing?—manner, which you responded to with an awkward chuckle.
"Yeah," Yunho chimed in. "Mingi really, really wanted us to join your kissing booth." Yunho smiled widely at Mingi, who only rolled his eyes.
"That's great, great news!" Wooyoung rejoiced. He quickly winked at you before ushering Mingi's friends to the lineup.
When you and Mingi were the only ones left, you smiled sheepishly. "I hope it wasn't much of a trouble convincing your friends."
"Don't worry, Y/N, it wasn't." Lie(-ish). Yunho and Yeosang complained a lot and made Mingi do whatever they liked for the past few days. From doing their homework to washing their cars, they were relentless. He hadn't gotten any proper sleep because of it. But, it wasn't really much of a trouble since he was doing it for you. Well, your club. But mostly for you.
Mingi stared at the table of baked goods in front of you. "I see you convinced Wooyoung to continue with your idea." He smiled.
"He still listens anyway." You chuckled. "Do you want one?"
"Definitely. I'll take a—"
Before Mingi could finish, Wooyoung appeared and dragged you away from Mingi. "Sorry, Mingi! We're about to start now!" He yelled, but not before freezing on the spot as an idea popped into his head.
Wooyoung went back to Mingi with you in tow. "Actually, can you do us a favor and man the table? I need Y/N for the register."
You clicked your tongue and were about to protest when Mingi immediately said, "Sure."
You looked at him curiously. "Really?"
"I don't see why not," Mingi smiled.
Deep inside, Wooyoung was popping confetti. Wooyoung thanked Mingi before going to the center of the mini-stage. You placed yourself at the registration table as Wooyoung shouted, "And the kissing booth is officially open!"
----
You thought you could handle the smooch-fest behind you. But... you thought wrong. The amount of kissing and hooting was too much for your poor heart. Thank the heavens the registration continued to pile up and you had to put your sole focus there. Well, not entirely.
You would sometimes peek at Mingi who had his own long line to attend to. Mingi manning the food table seemed to generate a longer line than the kissing booth, which made you chuckle softly before turning your attention back to the registration.
It wasn't long before Mingi managed to sell everything on the table and he approached you with the funds he generated. You dumbfoundedly accepted and stared at the small lunchbox where he put the money.
"I hope I did well, Ms. Y/N." Mingi smiled.
"You did, Mingi," you replied. "Thank you so much for helping us."
Mingi shrugged. "It was no problem." He looked at his watch. "Well, I have to do something for the time being. Will you still be here later?"
You nodded. "I'm here 'til it closes."
"I'll see you then." Mingi winked before disappearing into the carnival crowd.
-----
If you were being honest, the rest of the afternoon felt slow despite the buzz around your booth. With Mingi gone, it suddenly felt boring. You didn't show it though. You still wanted to be presentable to the carnival-goers.
As night rolled in, the excitement started to die down. The crowd dissipated until only a few people were passing by the booths. The kissing booth was more successful than you thought, thanks to Wooyoung and his lineup of volunteers.
As Wooyoung set aside the podiums, you counted all the money you had raised from the kissing booth and food table. You were halfway done when Wooyoung finished packing up and stood beside you. "So, how much did we earn?" He asked.
"I'm not done counting," you said. "But, we already have enough to win the student council's favor and have some extra funds for our own," you happily gleamed.
"Yes! Let's get drunk and party!" Wooyoung cheered.
You glared at him. "You're joking, right?"
Wooyoung forced a smile and patted your head. "Of course, I'm joking," he said, though his tone didn't sound as sincere as you had hoped.
You tutted before turning back to the money in your hands. For a moment, Wooyoung was quietly watching you count the bills. Then, all of a sudden, he spoke, "Oh, would you look at the time, it's getting late. Gottagohomenowbye," before scurrying away.
You looked up confused, your eyes following his seemingly excited figure before landing on a tall one that was walking towards the booth. You tried to hide your fluster as Song Mingi stopped in front of the registration counter with a smile. "Hey," he said.
"Hey," you smiled sheepishly. You can't help but notice the oversized windbreaker that he is now sporting. "Umm, we've closed already."
"I know," Mingi said, "I just came here again to talk to you."
"Oh, what about?"
Mingi scratched the side of his head. "Uhh," he mustered, "nothing in particular. What are you doing?"
"I'm just counting all our earnings," you referred to the bills in your hand. "Thanks again to you and your friends. I think you were the ones who attracted the crowd, Yunho and Yeosang especially."
Mingi scoffed. "If the crowd knew how weird they are, they wouldn't be lining up at all."
"And you're not?" You teased.
Mingi raised an eyebrow. "Who wanted me to join your lineup again?"
You rolled your eyes. "That was Wooyoung, not me."
"Sure, okay," Mingi shrugged with a smirk.
You shook your head, wanting to wipe that smirk off his pretty face. You turned back to your money and jotted down the numbers under the last person to register. "Weren't you interested in our lineup of kissers? I can't thank you enough for helping us and being here and all."
Mingi leaned over the counter and crossed his arms. "No, not at all," he answered as he watched you work.
You looked at him and chuckled. "So you just came to watch your friends make out with a bunch of people, then?"
"Well, I did to maybe get some material for blackmail," Mingi chuckled then cleared his throat, "but I was also waiting for someone."
"Oh," you said. You sounded so dry that you wanted to beat yourself up for seeming affected. "Who?"
"For you, actually," Mingi answered without a hitch, making you blush madly. "I—uh—also got you something." He placed a small chick plushie on the counter.
You smiled uncontrollably as you grabbed and squeezed its fluffy material. "Where did you get this?" You happily asked.
"The claw machines rented by the robotics club," Mingi sighed. "My talent is limited to basketball I guess, since I only got one."
"It's cute," you chuckled. "What is this for anyway?"
"I figured a gift is better than $5 for a..." Mingi trailed off, unsure of how you would react.
Your face morphed from happy to surprise upon realizing what he meant. You looked him in the eyes to see whether he was joking or not, but eventually, you avoided his intense gaze. And you suddenly realized how close he was as he continued to lean over the counter, waiting for your response. "Stop that," you mumbled, "please."
"Stop what?"
"That," you said, not looking at him as you pushed him gently away from the counter. "Stop messing with me."
Mingi sighed as he stood properly, shoving his hands in his jeans pockets. "I'm not messing with you, Y/N. I," he paused, plucking up the courage, "I want to kiss you—no, I want to ask you out first because I like you a lot."
You bit your lip anxiously. He wouldn't mess with you, right? You continued to stare at your feet. You can't bear to see if he was joking or not.
Mingi leaned over the counter again in an attempt to see your face. "I can see that you're holding yourself back. What's stopping you?"
You sighed, meeting his eyes for a moment before looking back down. "You're Song Mingi—"
"Nope, don't start. I don't wanna hear that bullshit. Give me a logical one like, I don't know, you don't like me back?" Mingi said sternly. His deep voice made the hairs on your nape stand. "I can date whomever I want. And that's you, Y/N. I like you for who you are. You're sweet and kind to everyone. You're one of the smartest people I know. You even stand up to your best friend for what you think is right."
You bit your lip again in a fluster, still too shy to make your move.
Mingi sighed. "If you don't like me back, it's alright, Y/N. I'm not going to be mad." He smiled softly. "I'm sorry for bombarding you with these things. You don't have to answer when you're uncomfortable." He moved to walk away, but you instantly grabbed the lining of his jacket to stop him.
"No, I—" you gripped the material nervously. "I like you too, Mingi. I—" You paused again, not knowing how to say your problem.
Mingi's eyes widened in surprise but waited for you to finish.
"I like you, Mingi. I—" you gulped. "And I also want to kiss you."
"But?" Mingi asked. "I feel like there's going to be a 'but' there."
You looked down at the counter. "But, I don't know how."
"I'm sorry." He smiled apologetically. "We don't have to kiss right now. We can just have dinner for now—"
"But I want to," you blurted out, which you immediately apologized for nonstop.
For a moment, you thought Mingi was going to laugh at you. You guessed that most of the people your age had already gotten their first kiss. Heck, your club's booth was a testament to that. So you were utterly embarrassed by your confession.
However, Mingi did no such thing. "Move over," he said. You didn't know what he meant until he climbed over the counter. You almost tripped backward when he jumped down right in front of you. He caught you just when you were about to stumble.
"What are you doing?" You mused.
"Can't you tell?" Mingi teased as he held your face tenderly. "I'm trying to kiss you properly."
You shook your head in disbelief and amusement. This guy is really sleek.
"C-Can I kiss you, Y/N?" Mingi asked. He rubbed his thumb against your cheek, comforting you.
You were extremely flustered by the warmth, not to mention the anticipation of what he was about to do, so all you could do at the moment was nod silently at his question.
Mingi smiled. You thought your heart was going to explode as Mingi came closer. You thought he was going to kiss you on the lips right away, but he planted a soft kiss on your forehead first. Then on your nose. You had to refrain from giggling, given the soft moment. Then he slowly came closer to your lips. You closed your eyes when you felt it against yours.
You couldn't explain it, but you felt warm and fuzzy inside despite your heartbeat ramming against your chest. The air felt soft yet exciting at the same time. It was definitely more than what you had imagined it to be.
You slid your hand against his chest and rested it behind his neck. His hands softly slid against your waist and pulled you closer. You could faintly hear Mingi humming in delight. And a few moments later, you both stopped to gaze at each other.
Although, you still had trouble maintaining eye contact with his intense ones. And Mingi just chuckled lightly at the sight. "You still don't want me to be a kisser?"
"No, I—" you pouted and Mingi just laughed.
"Don't worry, you're the only one I want to kiss," he murmured before kissing your forehead. "Dinner?"

Cyd Charisse (The Bandwagon, Brigadoon, Singin’ in the Rain)—LEGS LEGS LEGS I would sell my soul for the legs of Cyd Charisse - she oozed style and glamour and sex appeal!! And she could DANCE! She was dancing next to the greats - Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire but they are never who you're looking at because why would you when you can look at her. I will only sit through too long ballet breaks for her. If there was any woman who you could call sex on legs it was her. These dances are everything to meeee (she comes in at the minute mark) and this dance too of course is iconic. In the words of Fred Astaire 'When you've danced with Cyd Charisse you stay danced with'
Suchitra Sen (Harano Sur, Chaowa Pawa)—Suchitra Sen! She had a 25-year career in Bengali films, and was at the height of popularity for a solid two decades as half of the wildly beloved pair of Uttam-Suchitra, who were practically the entire romantic genre of Bengali films by themselves. She acted in literary adaptations, romantic comedies, (melo)dramas and inspired-by-current-events films. She was the first Indian actress to receive an international award at the Moscow International Film Festival. In 1978, after the release of her last film (a box-office flop) she pulled a Garbo and put herself out of the public eye completely. She made no appearances, gave no interviews, refused awards, all of it. She didn't even show up for her daughter's or grand-daughters' debuts! She was taken for funerary rites in a covered hearse! The glamour! The mystery! That blinding smile!
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.

Not to take away from her costars in Devdas (1955), but the great Indian cinematic tradition of Tragic Romantic Yearning would not, I argue, be what it is without Suchitra Sen's performance in that film. I root for things to turn out better for her every time, even though I know how things are going to go.
Tumblr media
A Bengali cinema icon. Liked crows (per Gulzar, "It was an astonishing sight. The crows used to pick at the grapes from her hand").

She once rejected Raj Kapoor's movie offer (one of the most successful actor and director at the time). She was quoted saying, “In men, I don’t look for beauty. I look for intelligence and sharp conversations. I had refused Raj Kapoor’s offer almost immediately. He came to my residence offering a lead role and, as I took my seat, he suddenly sat near my foot and offered me a bouquet of roses while offering the role. I rejected the offer. I did not like his personality. The way he behaved – sitting near my foot – did not befit a man.”
Legendary poet, lyricist, director and writer Gulzaar had this to say about her "Glad that my ‘Sir’—that’s what I call her— got the Dada Saheb Phalke award during her lifetime. Contrary to people’s perceptions, Suchitra Sen is an extremely warm and very very friendly person. I adore and respect her. But she has the right to choose her friends. Surely she’s justified in keeping away from every Tom, Dick and Harry. She’s the only example of such quiet dignity in show-biz. That’s why the media compares her with Great Garbo. Suchitra Sen is my Sir. I’ll explain. During the shooting of Aandhi she started calling me Sir. Everyone in Kolkata calls her Madame. Since I’m her junior I requested her not to call me Sir. But she insisted. (We always converse in Bengali). So I call her Sir and she calls me Sir.”

Cyd:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Photos do not do Cyd Charisse justice, unfortunately, because she is at her hottest while dancing, which she was exquisitely good at. Just go watch her first number in Singin' in the Rain, in that green dress; nothing I could say here will be more convincing that that.
She had amazing legs, and she knew how to use them! You probably know her best from the dream sequence in Singin' In The Rain. She was such a stunning dancer, and all her dance scenes are hard to look away from.
Dancing in the Dark clip:

She's an amazing dancer and my favorite from the period. Here's her and Fred Astaire in the Band Wagon:
youtube
I just like a woman who's there to be really incredibly good at dancing.
One of the most talented female dancers in Hollywood history, but what sets her apart from other competitors for that title is that she...umm...well let's be blunt, she was the dancer who put sex into it. The one who said "Hey, you know that A+ leg tone that naturally develops from doing this for a living? Why don't I let people see that? Like at every opportunity?" She reportedly insured her legs for five million dollars after hitting it big, which just goes to show that fame makes you crazy. It should have been ten million.
Tumblr media
Arguably the Best female dancer of her time, she supposedly insured her legs for $5 million dollars. Stole the show whenever she had a dance number, even if she went uncredited. Musicals started to go out of fashion so unfortunately she didn't have as many big roles as she should have, but those she did are unforgettable. The Broadway Melody number in Singin' in the Rain - the green dress!
She could pirouette in pointes or tear it up in taps. Fred Astaire called her "beautiful dynamite" and wrote, "That Cyd! When you've danced with her you stay danced with." Gene Kelly partnered with her three times. Her legs were (reportedly) insured for $5 million in 1952 ($57.8 million in 2024 dollars)! Everyone in this poll will be iconic, but for raw physical grace, Cyd is up there with the best.
Tumblr media
Legs for days, beautiful dancer in the most iconic scenes of Singin in the Rain. She's glorious. As some guys sung to her in It's Always fair weather, 'baby you knock me out!'
Tumblr media
Incredibly, Cyd Charisse only started learning to dance as a rehab exercise to strengthen her body after a childhood bout of polio. She was in high demand as a dance partner, Fred Astaire called her beautiful dynamite and said "When you've danced with her, you stayed danced with". She was one of a few leading ladies to dance with both Astaire and Kelly, declaring them both delicious. Kelly apparently was stronger, while Astaire was more coordinated. She also said her husband would always know who she had been dancing with because Kelly left her bruised, while Astaire didn't leave a mark. She's better known for her dance numbers today, but she was a leading lady in her time! Her Scottish accent in Brigadoon leaves a lot to be desired, but compared to the other actors in the movie, it's almost good. She appeared in The Harvey Girls alongside Judy Garland and Angela Lansbury in her first speaking role, but she really burst onto the scene with Singin' in the Rain and her infamous Broadway Melody Ballet number with Gene Kelly (no one could handle a length of fabric like Cyd Charisse). She was brought in because Debbie Reynolds wasn't really a dancer and Kelly was notoriously a stickler about his Vision. After that she starred opposite Astaire in The Band Wagon, which was a bit of a flop but created some enduringly incredible dance numbers. She went on to star in a number of MGM movies, and was one of the last of the Studio era stars to remain on contract. Since we've got up to 1970, I'm including her opening routine in The Silencers (1966) to show just how long she was making a splash - she's into her 40s here and still a siren:
youtube
and of course, the iconic Broadway Melody Ballet -

"What are you doing here?"
"You said you hated driving when it's snowing, and I remembered you had work today so I came to pick you up"
Yuno Jeong was the last but probably the only person you'd expect to see right now. The snowfall was a bit stronger today, only those who had work or important errands to run dared to brave the cold weather outside and here he was standing outside the cafe you worked at.
"It's late and it's freezing, you should've waited inside" you chided him, he just smiles at you. Happy that you weren't shooing him away.
It's been a while since he started courting you, and even though you told him you weren't really looking for a serious relationship at the moment he still offered to be a friend. A companion. For you he'd be anything you'd want him to be.
You admit at first you were hesitant and for a few valid reason: like for one, why would Jaehyun like you YOU out of all the girls falling on their knees for him and two, in your mind he's just way too out of your league. It's not that you're selling yourself short, it's just he's the Jaehyun Jeong.
His presence is now a constant in your everyday life, you won't tell him now but it feels incomplete when you don't see him or talk to him. Jaehyun successfully won you over, and he's not aware of it yet.
"It's okay, can I drive you home?" he asks, watching you walk towards him. To him, this is the highlight of his day. He spent the past hours of his day waiting until he can see you again. He didn't want to burden you or annoy you, if he's being honest it took all of his willpower not to drive earlier and just stay all day at the cafe just so he could see you because what if some dude decides to ask you out or asks for your number. All these scenarios playing in his head.
You roll your eyes at him, ever the gentleman that he is. He still asks you even though he practically drives you home every chance he could.
When you got to where he was, standing right in front of him you take his hand to give him a small bag. "I made extra cookies today, and tried making this new cake for the menu. Tell me if you like it"
Jaehyun looks inside the bag then back at you, a smile already on his lips. "You got me these? How'd you know I was coming?" he teasingly asks you
You playfully push him aside to get in his car, he laughs then holds the door open for you. After you get in, he jogs over the driver's side. Waiting until he settles inside before you answer him
"I just know" you say
He just looks at you, taking note of your reddened cheeks probably from the cold. He knows you get cold easily so he turns the heater on. You put your hands in front the vents to warm them up, feeling his gaze on you
"What?" you ask, looking over at him
Like always, he has this stupidly cute smile on his face. One you only see when he's with you. Something you internally boast about.
"Nothing, just missed you today"
You scrunch your nose at him, shaking your head.
"If you're free tomorrow would you like to go out with me?"
"In this weather? Why don't you just go over my place, we can watch a movie, dinner, bake cookies" you suggested, when he didn't say anything you look at him again
Thinking you might have upset him, you add "Sorry, I mean if you already planned something sure I'd go with you"
"No uhm your suggestion sounds better actually, are you okay though? If I come over?"
"Why won't I be? Bring some snacks over though, and if you want you can go there by lunch, you shouldn't be driving this late in this weather" you absentmindedly nag, the guy sitting beside you can feel his ears go red but he didn't care.
You put your seatbelt on, waiting for him to start the car but again Jaehyun made no move beside you prompting you to look at him again. You giggle when you see his red ears, "What did I do this time?" you tease him, leaning over to touch his ears with your semi-cold fingers
He just watches you adoringly, wishing this moment won't end. Wishing for the seconds to last longer so he can be this close to you. You're so close he can smell your favorite vanilla perfume, can see the faint red on your lips from your liptint you wear everyday making him wonder just what it tastes like.
Then he snaps out of his head, taking your cold hands in his before taking them against his lips. You just watch him with wide eyes, "I drove this late so I can see you because I missed you, don't worry your pretty little mind I promise I drove carefully. And I also promise tomorrow I'd drive earlier" he whispers against your hands.
Sometimes you ask yourself just why can't you accept it and fall completely in love with him. It's not difficult, in fact it's the easiest thing especially when he's this caring and sweet and attentive towards you.
Come the next day, Jaehyun already texted you early this morning asking if you needed anything else. He's already on his way to your place, a bag of your favorite snacks in one hand and a bouquet of flowers in the other.
When you hear the doorbell ring, you hurry over. The moment you open the door you see the flowers
"Hi" Jaehyun says, you let him in before closing the door behind him
"I got these for you, just because. And I know you don't like flowers that much but these are pretty flowers, I wanted to give them to the prettiest girl"
You take the flowers from him, jokingly scowling at him. He laughs, walking right behind you. He puts the grocery bag on the counter before taking his coat off.
"Okay so, what are we doing?" he asks you,
"I already cooked pasta and I baked bread the other day so I'll just need to heat those. I was planning to start on the brownies, you can help me with that"
You get the other apron, throwing it on Jaehyun before walking behind him to tie it for him. Meanwhile he feels like his heart is about to burst out of his chest, how can this night end without him kissing you he's not so sure.
With every little thing you do, it's like a brick being broken down one by one. And soon enough nothing will stop him, but for you he'll control it. He can wait, he'll wait. You're worth the wait, he reminds himself.
"Okay, so in this bowl you put eggs, butter and milk a bit of vanilla" you tell him. The two of you work side by side, he listens to your instructions while you put the ingredients in the bowl. He mixes, you pour. He can't help but think the two of you make the perfect team.
You put the baking dish in the over, setting the timer before turning to face him again. "And now we wait, should we eat lunch now?"
"You got something on your cheek" Jaehyun says, before he can stop himself he's already stepping towards you. It's like his body was on auto-pilot, grasping your chin gently to tilt it towards him while his other hand wipes the flour away.
"There" he mumbles, looking down at you. Now he fully realizes just how close he is. Your wide eyes looking at him, waiting for his next move. A bit disappointed when you feel his warm hands let go of you, "So uh lunch? I can set up the table"
Neither of you said anything about it after that. He sets up the table while you prepare the food, after lunch the two of you clean the dishes side by side while waiting for the brownies to be done.
When you hear the timer go off, you get the mittens before opening the oven. Just when the baking dish reaches the cooling rack, it touches a part of your hand
"Ouch ouch ouch oh my gosh"
"What? What happened?" Jaehyun immediately takes the mittens off, checking your hand and he sees the red line. He pulls you over the sink, turning the tap on letting the water run over your hand
"Where's the first aid?" he asks "In the bathroom, last door down the hall. It's under the sink"
He quickly walks to the other room, coming back with the first aid kit. He knows you keep a burn medicine in there because he got the kit for you, it's not the first time this happened so he got you a first aid kit just in case.
He turns the tap off, drying your hand gently with a towel before dabbing the medicine on. "Does that still hurt?"
"A bit" you answer
"You want ice? Aloe? I can go to the store and grab some"
"Jae it's okay, it's just a little burn. I get them all the time when I bake" you tell him, he finally looks you. Making sure you're actually okay.
You chuckle, pulling your injured hand to your side while you use your other hand to pull him down. You don't know what possessed you but you just suddenly had the urge to do it.
You pull him down by the collar of his hoodie until he's eye to eye with you. You kissed the corner of his lips, it was so quick Jaehyun didn't even have enough time to react. "I'm good, how about we watch a movie while the brownies cool down" you ask him with a smile
He bites his lips, nodding at you. You smile at him then you walk towards the living room, leaving him there in the kitchen like you didn't just give him a mini heart attack.
It took some time before you finally choose a movie, it was an odd one to watch on a movie date night but he watches it. It's your favorite movie after all.
"Is it weird that this is my favorite movie?" you ask all of a sudden
He looks down at you, your head resting on the pillow between the two of you.
"No, why? It's a good movie" he answers
"Well it's about a woman who frames her own husband, but I like the twist. Is that weird?" you turn so your head is now towards him, only to see him already looking at you
"I won't frame you for anything, I swear" you jokingly add, making Jaehyun let out a hearty laugh.
This time he's the one doing something unexpected, he leans down you close your eyes involuntary then you feel his lips kiss the tip of your nose. The most gentle kiss ever, but you swear you could feel it to the ends of your fingertips.
"I'd take the blame, don't worry" then he goes back to watching the movie.
You try the hardest to focus on the movie again but your mind won't let you. Jaehyun notices your restlessness but don't comment on it. Finally you sit up, throwing the pillow that was between the two of you on the floor before sitting cross legged facing him
"Yes?" he asks
"Don't play stupid with me, Yuno. What was that?"
"That?"
"That little kiss, what was that?"
The end of lips curl upwards but he fights it, wanting to enjoy a few more seconds of teasing you
"Weren't you the one who kissed me first in the kitchen?"
"That was... I was... That was a thank you" you try to reason out
"Okay, then that was a 'you're welcome' kiss" he replies back
He watches you have an internal debate, waiting for you to say anything but you don't.
"I won't do it again if you don't like it. I'm sorry" he tells you
"It's not that, I just don't know what to do when you do it. I don't know what to do half the time when you're being like that okay" you grumbled, crossing your arms.
That feeling in Jaehyun's chest comes back, like the last of the bricks just fell and now he's face to face with you. Thinking if he should hold back or say fuck it and kiss you for real this time.
"Being like what exactly?" he prods
"You're really making me say it?" you ask back
"Well I'm not sure what you're taking about so enlighten me, baby"
You instantly blush when you hear the nickname, he never used it on you. Directly atleast. So hearing him call you feels like all the butterflies in your tummy were rioting.
"That!" you point at him, the guy blinks back at you with a small smile "You do something like hold the door open for me, buckle my seatbelt for me, put your hand behind my seat when you reverse the car, or behind my chair when we're seating together, you zip my jacket for me, you always put food on my plate first, you get me my favorite coffee every morning and put cute little notes on it. What am I suppose to do when you do all of that for me?"
He looks down at your hands, letting out a chuckle before he takes your hand in his.
"I do all of those because I want to, not because I'm expecting something back. I do it because I like you. Just let me do it, that's all you can do for me" he smiles
"Aren't you tired of it?"
"No, never" he shakes his head, "You asked me if I could wait, I'll wait. Being with you is enough for me. When I see you, my day is complete. Whenever you save me a slice of cake from the cafe or bake cookies for me, it's the sweetest treat ever"
You're still frowning, but not for the wrong reasons.
How can you not fall even more for this guy when he's like this with you. What's actually stopping you from finally saying yes to him.
"A penny for your thoughts?" he whispers
"How long have you been courting me?" you ask him
"A year and a few months, maybe more. Almost 2 years, if you want me to stop I can't promise you I can because I really really like you and I-"
Then you're kissing him. For real this time. Your lips are on his. It takes a few seconds before he realizes this is happening for real and you're really kissing him.
He put his arms around you, pulling you on top of him until you're settled on his lap. Your lips tasted sweet, a faint lemon taste probably from your favorite liptint.
You feel him smile against your lips, one hand on the back of your neck so he can kiss you fully and deeply. Letting him take the lead and get lost in each other's lips. Right now nothing else mattered, all you can think about is him.
When the two of you broke apart, he has this goofy smile on his face
"Do you know how stupidly in love I am with you?" he breathes out, rubbing your noses together and kissing your lips between each word like he emphasizing each of them.
"I think I have a clue" you joke, chasing after his lips to kiss him again which he returned gladly. The two of you broke into a fit of giggles, breaking the kiss again
"Does this mean I'm your boyfriend now?"
"Let me think about it" you tease him
He skims his hands on your waist, knowing you're ticklish there. "Okay okay fine, you're my boyfriend now" you tell him, stopping his hand from doing anything.
Then he hugs you, pulling you on his chest. Kissing the side of your head, your ear, your shoulder before tucking his face on the side of your neck like it's his home.
He's so stupid in love with you, he's already thinking about his future with you. It's like he wants to fast-forward and see your future lives together but also he wants to pause time and stay in this moment forever.

Okay I need to rant about Glass Onion for several paragraphs
WARNING: SPOILERS!
Glass onion is phenomenal, and I personally enjoyed its themes more than the first Knives Out movie.
Now don’t get me wrong, Knives Out is arguably the better film, but its strengths lie in the complexity and brilliant execution of its core mystery.  It’s a fantastic self-contained story about a shitty rich family and the people they directly affect.  The members of the family range across the political spectrum and all express different ideologies, but the moment a migrant working-class woman has a legitimized shot at their inheritance they band together to prevent her from improving her life.  It's interesting commentary on how wealthy people can talk a big game about helping others and being good people, but ultimately fall morally short when such actions threaten what they feel they “rightfully deserve.” But that's arguably the limitation of the film as its focus is entirely on the interpersonal conflict between the Thrombey family and Marta.
Glass onion isn’t limited by that.
The entire thematic core of Glass Onion concerns the damage that the rich and powerful can do to the world if they aren’t supervised, criticized, or limited.
Aside from our lovely detective Benoit Blanc, the murdered Andi Brand, and her twin sister Helen, all of the characters are shitty people that are damaging the world in a uniquely horrible way as a direct consequence of the unchecked power and wealth they wield.
To start we have Governor Claire Dubella.  Her success in her political career has relied almost entirely on monetary support and influence from the films big bad and Elon Musk/Jeff Bezos analogue Miles Bron. Her platform has good objectives, and she’s passionate about hard topics like climate change, but her ability to act is entirely limited by the influence Miles has on her.  If Miles wants her to do something, she feels like she has no choice but to, which results in her greenlighting an experimental powerplant that Miles wants built to advocate for his new fuel source.  It’s untested technology, it’s volatile and dangerous as fuck, and Claire feels like she has no choice but to go along with it because if she doesn’t Miles will withdraw support from her career, or worse, support her opponents.  She likens it to selling her soul, and it really is.  She willingly undermined the health of her constituents for the sake of saving her career, and the shitty part is that Miles only controls her because she lets him.  She could deny the power plant, or leave Miles, at any time, but she doesn’t because she perceives the personal risk as to great.  She is a politician that won’t stand up for the people she represents, and no one calls her out on it.
Next, we have Duke Cody, the Alpha male men’s rights streamer who is just like, the absolute worst person in this film.  His views and opinions are incredibly toxic, his actions and beliefs directly hurt the people he influences through the hurtful products he promotes, and thanks to Mile's wealth and influence both he and his terrible, terrible, terrible opinions have official backing and some form of legitimacy.  He’s almost the direct inverse of Claire, being someone who really shouldn’t have support, but is getting it anyway because he’s Mile’s friend.  And because Miles doesn’t care and is giving Duke support and helping him dodge legal trouble, he enables Dukes terrible opinions and lets them influence and hurt people.
Then we have Birdie, my personal favorite of the disruptors.  She is a fashion designer, media star, and breathtakingly, beautifully, stupid. She’s not actively malicious like some of the other characters, but she is just so fundamentally incapable of thinking things through. When paired with her wealth and influence, this results in horrifying real-world consequences.  She has her iconic fashion line of sweatpants made at the most infamous sweatshop in Bangladesh not because she doesn’t care, but because she thought a sweatshop is just a shop where you make sweatpants.  She’s just very stupid, but at the very least has the decency to be aware of it.  She even decides to own up to her Bangladesh mistake of her own volition, independent of the plot.  The problem is that no one corrected for her, or guided her, or worked to influence her decisions.  Miles just cared about what her brands could do for him and was perfectly willing to throw her under the bus to preserve his image.
Last of the four Disruptors is Lionel Toussaint.  Not much to say about him actually, he’s fairly straightforward.  He works directly under Miles as a scientist and is a parallel for the people that want to have confidence in tech ‘pioneers’ like Elon Musk.  After all they’ve been successful, and things have worked out in the past, surely, we can give them leeway with new technology development.  But there’s a reason why technology is prototyped and tested, and that’s because things always go wrong, and you need to take time and care to figure out how to ensure new technology is safe.
Which leads us to this asshole.
Miles goddamn Mona Lisa Burning Bron.
The absolute, motherfucking, shithead moron directly responsible for everything bad that happens in this film.
I lied about Duke Cody because this absolute buffoon is the actually the worst person in this film.
He manipulates politicians into endangering their constituents for his own gain, he enables the absolute worst and most toxic people by giving them legitimate platforms, he promotes influencers without caring for what their unchecked actions result in, and he deludes the people that work for him and want to believe in him with self-assured delusion.  This man is arrogant, an indiscribable moron (worse than Birdie because at least she acknowledges her failings), dangerously delusional, obsessed with control, and most damning of all, unchecked.
Miles Bron is a direct look at how too much unchecked power, wealth, and influence results in unmitigated disasters.  He doesn’t care about helping people, because he doesn’t take the time to make sure untested technology is safe for the public, handwaving legitimate concerns with denial and false assurance.  He doesn’t care about his friends, because he murders two of them the instant, they become a threat to his control.  He’s not smart, because all of his genius is the result of other people, he’s just skilled at advertising it as his own to get the credit.  All he cares about is doing what he wants and being in control, because his opinion and self-worth and legacy is more precious to him than any other thing in the world.  The man is a lie so absolute, so convoluted, and so stupidly straightforward that the slightest piece of truth will bring the facade of his existence crumbling down.  And it’s hard to acknowledge something like that in the real world because someone that successful being that malicious and dumb sounds incredibly stupid.  It’s an easy lie to buy because it’s more believable than how stupid the truth is.
Anyway, ultimately my conclusion is that we see a strikingly accurate portrayal of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk in this film, and it was very cathartic seeing their hopes, ambitions, and house burn down around them.  Because billionaires like them are shithead morons that lie to and manipulate everyone, and their arrogant and harmful self-delusions compound through the people they manage to influence.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Friday I’m In Love
A/N: So jokes on me because I didn't expect to love Eddie Munson this much. @allaboardthereadingrailroad told me he was going to be the it girl of this season and I said absolutely not.
Warnings: Smut, lots of it. Drug use. Judgemental teenage girls
Parings: Eddie Munson x Plus Size Reader
Summary: Eddie invites you to his show, and holy shit. You show up.
Tumblr media
“Remind me why the hell were here again?”
You’d never been to The Hideout, a shitty hole in the wall off the highway outside of  town. You’ve driven by it like, a thousand times and never once had the urge to go inside. Now, as you stand next to your friend, Shelly’s, mom’s Subaru in the half empty parking lot your nerves are going haywire, over eager to walk through the doors.
“Because, we were invited”  you answer simply. Duh. Sweeping more glittery lip gloss on and fluffing your hair before adding “plus it’s not like we had anything else to do”
“We could literally be doing anything else then this- isn't Clair throwing a party tonight?”
“Yeah, but all her parties are always like, major depressing. Ever since Heather you know”-you  make a gurgling choking sound and cross your eyes “Its like, why do we have to do a toast to the dead girl, every party. I get once- but it feels redundant”
You get it. Claire and Heather were best friends. You’re also not in the mood to go hold her hand while she cries about it. Again.
Also, Heather had put gum in your third grade. So-
“For one- you're a horrible person” Shelly accuses, shaking her overly curly head “For two, we could’ve gone to the movies or something”
“You think the theaters boring, plus like. Won't it be fun to try something new? Come on” you grab her hand and pull her along behind you. Sparing one last glace at the familiar van, parked idle towards the front of the lot.
“So like, this has nothing to do with you and weirdo Munson, right?”
“Right- and its funny the way that you only think he’s weird after he sells you weed. Asshole”
Well- its not like you we’re expecting anything fancy from the Hideout. No expectations, no disappointment, right? The bar is the textbook definition of a dive. The lingering smell of stale beer hits you straight in the face as you walk in. Seedy lighting that makes everything look shadowy and almost green-
“Oh look! They have pool tables!” you point out because that could be fun. Maybe?
“Oh great” She replies, voice fasle sugar sweet before dropping “I want to leave”
“Shh” you elbow her, hard. “We just got here. Play nice”
And she does, for the most part. Sit down at one of the sticky tables with you. Avoids the looks of the bar's patrons- older. Wasted. White trash, for sure. You wouldn't talk to them, not ever but like. Whatever. You can just ignore them. That’s easy enough.
Especially when they get on stage. The Dark Wizards, Eddie at the lead. Even though he's not singing, even though he’s off to the side with that bright cherry red guitar of his. He’s the star.
“We’re the Dark Wizards, and we’re about to rock your mortal world”
You don't know when this…thing you had for Eddie developed. Somewhere between smoke laced conversations and late nights glued to your phone, him fighting the shitty static of his own line to talk until one of you called uncle, the thing had taken a life of its own.
He’s odd. Yeah. But no other guy has ever been this nice to you. Eddies odd, but he’s not cruel. He’s not like the asshole jocks or elitist math nerds. He’s not even like the rest of his leather clad D&D playing posse.
You wish you could get everyone else to see that. Get your friends to see that.
The singer is trash, the drummer can't keep a beat to save his life, but the guitar riffs are melodic. Smooth and sharp, and your heart catches the tune and beats in time. Blood flow slowing and stopping until your all but hypnotized.
You clap and cheer and cant manage to tear your eyes away until the final note plays, their set is over-
“Oh my god, you're so into him” the statement is disgusted, mostly. Fascinated. Your friend looks at you like she's watching a car crash- violent and bloody, but she can't take her eyes off of it.
You just shrug because like. Yeah. Obviously.
“Oh fuck no” she groans, face palming hard.
Eddie hurries out from behind the stage, which is really just their supply room. Grinning from ear to ear, beaming arms spread out wide. “Look who came!”
“You invited me, I told you I’d come” You try to contain it, but you're giddy. Even more so when he throws a gangly arm around your shoulder. “It’s no biggie”
“No biggie? You came all the way out here to see little ol me. Huge biggie, my friend. Huge” He holds his heart with his other hand dramatically-
Always so dramatic. Always so enamoring.
“You deserve a drink. A real one, what is this?” He dips his pinky into your friend's drink and her nose scrunches up something fierce and offended “Sprite? Nah, that's a peasant drink. Bartender kind sir- pour us something strong. And…fruity”
The bartender, who looks like an Ex-con, actually makes a mean Mojito.
------------
“It’s totes okay, I’ll call you when I get home, yeah?”
You're in the parking lot, again. Except for you're not leaving in the car that you came in.
Shelly’s tucked into the Subaru, staring out at you with all knowing eyes.
He’s just going to drop me off at home.
Uh Huh.
Seriously.
“Yeah whatever you better call me later- I want all the dirty details. Use protection- bye” she waves before her tires screech, hauling ass away from the Hideout. You flip her the bird all the way.
“Okay let's blow this popsicle stand” you plop into the passenger side of the beat up old van, bouncing along as you go. Glad for the low cut blouse you’d donned because Eddie's eyes follow your chest, comically, animatedly. Up and down.
“Whatever you say, mi’lady. Your house?”
“I mean- I don't have a curfew or anything on the weekend- we could go somewhere else. If you want to?”
Eddie looks pensive, lips pursed, before a light bulb goes off in his head.
“Want to go to the end of the earth with me?” He questions as he reverses, and well. How can you say no to that offer?
-----
The cliffs of Sattlers Quarry are jagged and high. Eddie parks too close to the edge- takes you out. Holds your hand tight as you screech, not being able to look over for more than a second.
“Its okay,” Eddie chuckles, herding you into the open back of the van. “I come here all the time, were all good Y/L/N.”
The seats are ripped out, posters of dragons and bare tittied ladies plastered on the metal walls. Black Sabbath plays lowly from the crappy speakers and he lays an armful of threadbare blanket down for cushioning, for the two of you to curl up on.
You cling to him just to do it. Keep close as he rolls the cleanest joint you’ve ever seen. Spark and smoke and laugh- all attached to hip. He talks about Tolkien as fluidly as he does Karl Marx, he likes pineapple on pizza and was born the day before Valentines. Cats are superior to dogs, and he like lives off of peanut butter crunch cereal.
His dad split when he was in eight grade and living with his Uncles not so bad, really. It’s kind of like rooming with a chill homie, but definitely nothing like having a real parent.
“I'm boring you aren't I? Just tell me to stop, and I’ll zip my lips. Locked. Key is thrown, right off that cliff” He makes the motions, zip. Key, tossed and you lean your face into his jean clad shoulder.
“Mmm, no. I like listening to you talk” its not a lie, not the usual shit you blow up guys ass. Everything out of Eddie’s mouth is unexpected, he tells stories with words. Vivid pictures, film on a loop. With your lungs burning and THC running through your system it's even better.
“I like you. In general” Eddie whispers, and you hide your face even more. He shrugs you away though, turning. Face to face, no way to run from his dark eyes “I like your eyes” he leans in, and you think finally he’s gong to kiss you. Instead he gets close enough. Blinks fluttery fast, his lashes against yours. Butterfly kisses
You shake your head, cheeks burning, chest tight.
“And your hair? I really like that- even if it is better than mine which is rude. And don't even get me started on your perfume because that? That’s my favorite. And your-”
You slap a hand over his mouth pushing until he gives way. Until your on top thick thighs caging his waist “Stop it, jeeze I lied. I hate your voice, shuddap!”
He makes a few muffled attempts, squirming a bit before giving up.  Going lax, bringing his hands behind his head and looking at you with dark eyes that shine and sparkle. He's enjoying this, and the long languid lick he gives to your hand shouldn't feel as good as it does.
You like Eddie, like the way he feels. You like the way he lets you be who you want to be, do what you want to do. Other guys would’ve thrown you off, too heavy. Too dominant. They didnt want to play, but Eddie. Eddie’s wanted to play with you since you hit that doobie behind the gym.
You unbutton your blouse slowly, letting him watch you. He can have it. All of it. Everything. You unhook your bra and those dark eyes go wide.
“This okay?” you ask, taking your hand off of his mouth, resting on his shoulder.
He nods, quick, adam's apple bobbing “Are you even asking me that right now? Yes, fuck yes I am a-okay. The best, really-”
The kiss you cut him off with is messy, too much tongue. Too much want. Why had you wanted this long? Maybe it should’ve have been more romantic- but then again maybe it is? It’s own version of romance, its own courting and dating and being cared for.
Eddies hands are everywhere, eager and exploring and its almost funny until he thumb brushes over your nipple, just on the right side of rough, making you  gasp sharp into his mouth, and grind down onto his hard lap in tight circles. Eddie pulls away, just barley. Dragging his slick mouth acros your jaw, down your chest, your hands fist tight his hair as he runs the flat of his tongue along the nub.
It feels too good, mind numbing. Base instinct, two teenagers and in a fogged up car. Breathing eachothers air, tasting each other spit. Fumbly and needy, too fast.
Struggling out of your clothes, you wiggle out of your tight acid washed jeans as Eddie shed’s layer after layer- Hell Fire Club Tee, Leather Jacket, Denim vest. The floor of his van littered. You’re tugging on your pink panties when he blankets himself over you, pushing you back down. The blankets rough on your bare skin.
Eddie’s a weirdo, not a virgin. And most importantly, he’s good with his hands. The long ring donned fingers work magic. The real life kind that gets your back arching and has sounds that would embarrass you to think about later clawing their way from your throat. Feels almost too good as he rests his forehead against yours, noses bumping as he pounds his fingers in and out of you.
He likes it, watching you squirm, watching your hips shift every time he tries to pull his hand away.
He keeps condoms in the glove box, mostly for show. Hope. The off chance that some girl gives him a chance and wants to hook up- once in a blue moon shit. He’s glad for them now, even if it means pulling away from a whining writhing you
When he slides back between your thighs it's a heady feeling. He’s almost vibrating, shaking out of his skin, nervous excitement making him clumsy. He  misses. Doesnt slide into you easily, the two of you shifting and giggling, gasping and nosing at one and other until.
Oh.
There.
The inhale you take is shaky and sharp and Eddie groans and buries his head in your neck. Breathing in your sweet perfume as his hips begin to pump.
“O-oh my god. Eddie-” You stutter, holding on to his shoulders. He’s not the thickest guy you’ve been with, but his dicks long. Longer then average forsure. Jabbing at that place inside you, pleasure pain bursting behind your eyelids and you cling to his shoulders. There's no real pace, not from the nineteen year old, but the friction of sweaty bodies feels good, the rocking rhythmic and almost peaceful as you stare up at the van’s ceiling. You like it, the way he moans, the way he tells you how it feels- he really doesn't ever shut up.
Its quick, you’re young and Eddie’s never been with anyone who feels so tight. You can tell when he’s close, when he speeds up to nothing more then a dirty, desperate grind. When his whole body goes taught and his arms tighten around your waist, holding onto you as he rides it out. As he shakes and shudders, needing the grounding. You hold him in the cradle of your thighs.
He pulls out with a hiss and slumps, heavy and boneless on to you and you stroke his back, trail your fingers across his shoulders soothingly. It felt good the minutes that go by in overexerted bliss. It wasnt like you weren't used to not getting yours. Guys just had a one track mind, right? No big deal, you’ll handle it when you get home-
Eddie's head perks up from your chest. Almost like he could read your mind, Isnt that one of his D&D elf powers or whatever?
His animated, recovered enough to have regained that mischievous look. He waggles his tongue, vulgar and pushing corny
 “Your turn, mi’lady”

--ipation!
Did I split it in two just to make that joke? Hell yeah I did. No regrets!
Um...a teeny-tiny bit of poly Nancy/Jonathan/Argyle if you squint, like really hard.
Part 1
***
Eddie and Steve pulled up to the Hawk to see that their friends were waiting for them...well all except Janice, but she was on her way.
“You ready for this?” Eddie asked.
Steve took a deep breath and then nodded. “Yeah, let’s do this.”
Eddie stepped out first.
“Where’s Steve?” Robin asked, running up to him.
Nancy, Argyle, and Jonathan were fast on her heels.
“Is he okay?” Jonathan asked as soon as he reached Eddie.
Eddie held up his hands. “I got it all figured out. I had a friend come in and give me a hand but Steve’s here and I can’t wait for you to see it.”
He cocked his head to the side and licked his upper lip. He cocked one eye brow and said, “I want to see you shiver with antic—ipation.”
Jonathan and Robin giggled, but Nancy and Argyle, who hadn’t seen it yet looked confused.
Eddie turned around but before he could open his mouth Janice came running up to them, high heels clanging hard on the pavement.
“Oh good!” she said, panting, clutching her knees as she tried to catch her breath. “I was hoping to get here before Eddie did the reveal.”
Everybody but Eddie turned and looked at her like she was crazy.
She popped up, waving her hand and grinned. “Hi-ee! I’m Janice, I’m Eddie’s friend and Stevie’s fairy godmother.”
Eddie grinned back. “Perfect timing, babe.” He kissed her cheek.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, sweetheart,” Eddie called over his shoulder. “Ready when you are, Rocky Horror!”
A beat. And then another.
Then Steve stepped out of the van and popped his hip. He smiled at them, hand on his hip.
They all cheered again.
Robin walked up to Steve and touched his sides. “You can’t even tell they were ever there.” She turned to Janice. “You did that?”
She nodded with a grin. “He’s a got a great figure for Rocky, all I did was help a little with his confidence.”
Steve blushed. “Thanks Janice.”
“My pleasure, babe,” she cooed. “Especially since I’m getting such a great stylist out of the deal.”
Eddie put his arms around Janice and Steve. “We’ve got a movie to see, I’ll introduce you all after.”
“Totally bodacious, brochacho,” Argyle said and held out his arm for Janice to take.
She took it with a grin and began talking his ear off about how their characters were related.
Robin took her place under Eddie’s arm and the three of them followed their friends into the theater.
*
After the movie everyone was introduced. They all loved the movie.
There was also a costume contest. There were prizes for best costume for each character, best group, best in show, and wildest interpretation of a character.
They won best group, which some of the other groups protested because they had seven in theirs, while most groups only had three or four. But the Party decided that they were just bitter because of how cool everyone looked.
Eddie won best Frank N Furter. His natural curls and commitment to the whole bit really helped sell the whole look and it was easy to see that he really deserved it.
Steve won best in show. There were other people dressed as Rocky of course, but he really had the whole look down. Especially when standing next to Eddie’s Dr Frank N. Furter.
They all went back to Steve’s for popcorn, drinks and homemade pizza.
While they were waiting for Steve to cut the pizza and bring it out, Robin said, “God Janice, I don’t think I’ve seen Steve smile so much since he got those scars. You really are a fairy godmother!”
Janice stood up and curtsied. “Thank you. I wouldn’t recommend he do it all the time, especially since it’ll be covered up by his shirt. But he’s more than welcome to call me anytime and I’ll happily do it again.”
“God, you’re so perfect I could kiss you,” Robin breathed.
Eddie whispered in her ear, “Well, considering she bi and single, I’m sure she wouldn’t mind.”
Robin turned bright red as Janice waggled her eyebrows.
Steve came out with the pizzas, wearing a t-shirt over top of his costume.
“Aww...” Eddie pouted. “Why did you cover up?”
Steve laughed. “Getting hot tomato sauce on your chest is no laughing matter.”
Eddie cocked his head to the side. “Yeah, that’s fair.”
They dived into the pizza.
“I liked the movie,” Argyle said they had stuffed themselves. “It was very cool. Thanks for the invite, man.”
Nancy laughed. “Yeah, it was fun.”
Steve grinned. “I had a lot fun too, thanks to Janice.”
“I’m glad I was able to make the night fun for everyone,” she said. “I know I keep harping on this, but seriously I’m getting the best end of the deal with Steve starting on Monday to work for me.”
“It’s so cool, bro,” Argyle said. “The work you did with me and Eddie’s hair was so wicked. I’m glad you get to share your talents with others.”
Steve smiled. “Thanks, man. I’m super excited.”
“I’m also thinking of putting him through beauty school,” Janice said. “He deserves to be the best he can be.”
Steve blushed. “Thanks, Janice.”
“Foods over, pretty boy,” Robin huffed. “If I have to be centimeters away from flashing people my ass, you can go without a shirt.”
Steve laughed and took off the t-shirt. They continued to eat treats and drink soda while they talked and laughed.
It was moving from late at night to early morning and one by one they were dropping off.
Argyle, Nancy, and Jonathan were cuddled together on the sofa, while Janice and Robin snuggled up under a big, fluffy blanket on the loveseat.
It was just Eddie and Steve left. They were cleaning up in the kitchen, moving together as though they had done this for years.
Steve turned to face Eddie. “Thanks for tonight. You really came in clutch.”
Eddie grinned. “Glad to be of service. Plus any chance to see your chest again is always a plus in my book.”
Steve grinned. “Oh I don’t doubt it. I’ve noticed that you really, really like my tits.”
Eddie coughed, choking on his own saliva. “You can’t just say it like that, man.”
Steve stepped forward, closing the distance between them. “I’ve been noticing your attraction since Lover’s Lake.”
Eddie gulped. He had hoped in the aftermath that Steve would have forgotten his little cigarette moment. Apparently not.
“Which is why I was a little confused when you pushed me at Nancy.”
Eddie’s mouth went desert dry, his heart rate picked up, and his breathing became labored.
“But then Robin explained it to me,” Steve said as he got right into Eddie’s space, “you were trying sniff out if I liked her. Well, here’s the answer in black and white, Eds. I don’t like her. I like you.”
Eddie’s jaw dropped and it took a moment before his brain caught up. He grabbed Steve’s face and smashed their lips together. It was hungry and sexy and rough.
And oh god, did Steve love it. He got his hands into Eddie’s curls, wincing a little at the sticky mess that was all the hairspray and tangle of bobby pins. But he didn’t falter for a moment, kissing back as fiercely as Eddie had.
When they finally broke apart, they were both panting for breath.
Eddie huffed out a laugh and ran a finger over Steve’s lips, further smearing the lipstick Eddie had been wearing. “I think we’ve got to get you cleaned up, lover boy. My makeup is all over your face and you really don’t want to sleep with that makeup on your torso.”
Steve winced looking down at his chest. “Yeah, that would be pretty gross.”
“I’ve got you.”
Eddie led him upstairs to Steve’s bathroom and gently removed their makeup. He started with Steve taking the makeup remover he had bought for his own costume and a warm, wet wash cloth and touched it to his side.
Steve could have just taken a shower but let him carefully remove the layers of make up that had hidden his scars.
He then helped Eddie out of the corset and fishnet stockings. He removed the bobby pins and gently rinsed out the hairspray. Eddie’s curls fell in down his back once again.
Soon they were both wearing the same amount of clothes, Steve in his shorts and Eddie in black bottoms.
They laid down on the bed and curled around each other. The heat from earlier was gone, replaced by tender care.
“Can I ask–” Eddie started.
“Why I chose Rocky?” Steve murmured back.
“Yeah,” he said softly. “You didn’t have to go through all this. I mean I loved it and you got a fancy new job out of it, but it could have ended in disaster.”
“I hadn’t seen Rocky Horror before tonight,” Steve said. “But Robin had. When I asked who I should be she told me that of all the characters I fit Rocky the best. I didn’t know if she was insulting my intelligence or what until I saw the movie. Then I got it. Because despite everything, Rocky loved Frank.”
Eddie gulped. “And do you love me, Stevie?”
“Yeah, I really do.”
They kissed again. They drifted off to sleep in each others arms.
And if they came down the following morning to Argyle and Jonathan making breakfast, hand in hand no one said anything. Nancy just smiled at them from her perch on the counter where she was watching Argyle and Jonathan cook.
Or at least no more then Steve or Eddie said anything about Janice offering to drive Robin home.
All in all? It had been a great night.

“Hey.”
You almost don’t hear him over the sound of music pulsing through the stereo speakers and your own hyperfocus on the drink in your hand. Whatever’s in this jungle juice is strong, but not enough to loosen you up, it seems.
When you look up and see him, concern furrowing his brows, you only offer a weak smile and a soft, “hi.”
“What are you doing out here by yourself?” Eddie asks, leaning next to you, forearms pressed to the patio banister. “Hargrove’s inside.”
You wince at the mention of your boyfriend. “He’s mad at me,” you admit quietly, taking another swig from your Solo cup. Billy’s chastising words echo in your mind: no fucking fun, why can’t you be like the other girls? He was the reason you were wearing this ridiculous outfit–which was basically glorified lingerie poorly disguised as a witch costume. You feel uncomfortable and out of sorts, but Billy had insisted that you wear it, saying that he didn’t want to be the only guy at the party with a prude girlfriend.
He hadn’t noticed you before you’d started tutoring his stepsister, Max, but when he did start paying attention to you, he was a bloodhound. And after a month of secretly dating, he was finally ready to show you off.
Except…
Except the you he wanted people to see was just a facade. He didn’t want the introverted girl who preferred the company of her books and a small group of friends; he wanted someone he could dress up and parade around like a trophy. You were something he’d conquered, not someone he loved.
Eddie doesn’t ask for details; he just shrugs off his denim jacket and rests it over your bare shoulders. “I’m done selling for the night,” he reports, drumming his fingers on the tin box he uses to transport his stash. “You wanna head back to the trailer? Watch a movie and shoot the shit?”
You can’t agree fast enough, scrambling to your feet and climbing in his van. Things have been a bit strained between you two since you got with Billy, but the beauty of being Eddie’s friend is that you fall back into your usual routine without having to try.
The ride to Forest Hills is fast, especially with Eddie driving like a madman. You both plop onto the couch, Eddie reaching for an open bag of pretzels on the side table and offering you some before taking a handful.
“I’m so glad you’re done with that asshole,” he says with a mouthful of the snack. “No fuckin’ clue what you saw in him.” When you don’t respond, refusing to meet his gaze, he sighs. “Nope, no way. Do not tell me—”
“What other choice do I have?” you rebut.
Eddie rolls his eyes, throwing his hands up in defeat. “You could be with someone who doesn’t treat you like crap!”
“Oh, yes,” you scoff, “let me just call one of my many suitors.” Making a big show of standing and traipsing over to where their phone hangs on the wall, you pick up the receiver with feigned exuberance. “That’s right—no one else wants me!” You slam the phone down and cross your arms over your chest.
“Bullshit!” Eddie bellows, tossing the pretzel bag onto the couch and stomping towards you. “That’s bullshit, and you know it.”
“Then who—”
You don’t finish your sentence before his lips collide with yours; his hands on your hips pressing you up against the wall. You can taste the lingering cigarette smoke on his tongue; he drinks in whatever vodka-based concoction is on yours.
He breaks away abruptly, mouth agape in disbelief. “I’m sorry; I shouldn’t have done that.”
“‘S okay,” you mumble. “Wasn’t half bad for a pity kiss.”
“A pity—no, that wasn’t pity. That was an, ‘I’ve been wanting to do this forever’ kiss.” His fingertips brush against yours. “Let me take care of you,” he murmurs, and when you nod, he leads you to his bedroom. He waits for you to lay on the bed before climbing on top of you, knee nudged between your legs and head nestled into the crook of your neck. His fingers dip below your lace panties, and you freeze up at his touch. “We, um, we don’t have to do this,” he says hurriedly. “Just say the word.”
But you do want this; no, you need this. You need him to show you what true passion looks like, not whatever feigned version Billy had offered. As soon as you give Eddie a breathless, enthusiastic yes, he’s tugging your tiny skirt and lace panties down your legs. The cool air barely hits your pussy before his lips are on it, tongue licking up the center before finding your clit.
A whine catches in your throat, releasing as a pathetic whimper. You’re so sensitive, so starved for touch. You’ve become acclimated to the way Billy grabs at you, pawing at your ass or breasts as a means to take what he wants, leaving you feeling used and unsatisfied.
Eddie’s touch is vastly different. Yes, it’s fueled by sexual desire, but it’s too attentive to just be lust. You prop yourself on your elbows and watch him, doe eyes looking up at you to gauge your reaction. “Keep going,” you sigh, flopping back down on the bed, and you can feel his soft laugh on your core.
He works meticulously, holding a steady pace as you writhe against his face. Your hands grasp the bedsheets in your fists, nearly yanking them off of the mattress as he slides a finger inside you while continuing to lightly suck on your bud.
A second finger joins the first, pulsing in and out of you eagerly but not frantically. The combination of him filling you up and the way he so desperately craves pleasing you has you hurtling you towards orgasm. Instinctively, you press your lips together to muffle your moans, but Eddie’s having none of that.
“Wanna hear your pretty noises. Pretty noises from my pretty girl,” he says quickly, wasting no time eagerly returning to the task at hand.
“Eddie, Eddie, I’m coming!” you cry out, arching your back as you finish. Eddie brings you down from your euphoric state with a few more kitten licks to your pussy, wiping your slick from his mouth and chin as he climbs up your body and kisses you deeply.
You run your fingers through his hair before it occurs to you: “I can return the favor.” Heat rises to your cheeks; how could you be so selfish and forget about him?
But a shake of his head and a bashful chuckle immediately quell your nerves. “‘S, uh, already taken care of.” And though his denim jeans are black, you can still spot the wet stain pooled at the seam.
Needless to say, the thought of returning to Billy Hargrove doesn’t even cross your mind.

Ahhh did you see the new rolling stone gaylor article ?? I'm so impressed.
Tumblr media
When Taylor Swift released the long-awaited rerecording of her genre-leaping album 1989, fans eagerly pored over vault tracks, theories of double albums, and limited edition vinyl releases that could predict Swift’s next re-record. But for Gaylors, a dedicated Swift fanbase that’s existed for over a decade, Swift’s prologue and a mention of her feelings surrounding speculation about her love life have dampened what should have been an exciting release.
Thinking about the 24-year-old she was when 1989 was released, Swift writes, “I swore off dating and decided to only focus on myself, my music, my growth, and my female friendships. If I only hung out with my female friends, people couldn’t sensationalize or sexualize that — right? I would learn later on that people could and people would.” Many users online interpreted that line as a subtle callout to Gaylors, supporters of the niche theory that Swift is queer or leaves queer messaging in her songs. But several members of the Gaylor community tell Rolling Stone they’re actually not convinced the callout is about them — and are receiving targeted and homophobic harassment in the process.
For those not extremely online, Gaylor is an unproven theory that Swift is queer and leaves messages alluding to past relationships in her work, a fan theory that originated on the blogging site Tumblr in the mid-2010s. It is also the fan name for groups of people who believe there are queer interpretations of Swift’s songs. (While Swift has been a vocal ally and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and representation, she has never publicly commented on Gaylor and has only been in public relationships with men.) Gabriela, a 27-year-old Gaylor, tells Rolling Stone she doesn’t believe Swift’s prologue is about the Gaylor fandom specifically, but she’s frustrated at the use of the word ‘sexualize,” which she says has long been co-opted by fans who think Gaylor is harmful or inherently rude.
“I think it’s a call-out yes, but more to the media at large, rather than just about the Gaylor subset of her fandom, which is only a small piece of her complaint. [Swift] doesn’t want to be assumed to be in a sexual, romantic relationship with anyone she is seen next to,” Gabriela says. “Hetlors [those who object to the Gaylor discourse] are cherry-picking to make it about her ‘shutting down gay rumors.’”
As an internationally beloved artist — one capable of selling more movie tickets than Martin Scorcese and convincing an entire fandom to rebuy her music her way — Swift professes an unusually close relationship with her followers. The lyricist often hides clues in her work and visuals, encouraging fans to decipher what coded messages and hints she’s leaving behind. But Swift has also verbalized how upset slut-shaming and assumptions about her love life make her. Anna, a 23-year-old Gaylor who uses they/them pronouns, agrees that the prologue wasn’t about Gaylor specifically but says they do think all Swift fans online could operate with more boundaries.
“Of course, I’m a little annoyed that people are pulling one or two lines of the prologue out of context and using it as a justification to be homophobic and send death threats to my friends, but I don’t think Taylor is at fault for people misconstruing her words and I think she has every right to call out things that make her uncomfortable,” Anna tells Rolling Stone. “’Shipping’ culture across the fandom seems to have gotten really ugly recently on all accounts. I’ve seen people speculate on her sex life, openly and graphically, track her location, insinuate that she wants/has children and just overall cross a lot of boundaries. It may be unpopular for me to say it, but I do think members on all sides needed to be put in their place a little bit.”
All of the Gaylor fans who spoke to Rolling Stone expressed that beyond the prologue, much of the reaction to them as a group has stemmed from a lack of understanding about why the fandom exists and has lasted for almost a decade. Liv, 26, says that the Gaylor community has been a large part of her life — it’s even how she met her current boyfriend. And she tells Rolling Stone the identity has allowed her to have a deeper understanding of Swift’s lyrics.
“It’s always fun for me to think about what inspired a song. So even if it’s not what happened in Taylor’s life, it’s interesting for me to think about a song through a queer lens, because I feel like it adds a lot of layers that a song about a guy might not have,” Liv says. “And I don’t really know any straight people who are that deeply obsessed with Emily Dickinson.”
The X account @gaylornews has over 12,000 followers. The admin behind the account declined to include her name but tells Rolling Stone Gaylor isn’t just a fun internet conspiracy theory, but means a lot to the community.
“Analyzing her lyrics through a queer perspective is more about defying heteronormative narratives and finding representation and not about invading Taylor’s privacy or sensationalizing her personal life,” the account owner says. “Gaylor is about queer people finding a safe space which straight people not only find but already have everywhere, is about all the things you never learned about yourself, is about feeling seen and genuinely understood.”
Regardless of what people think the prologue is about, Gaylors are worried about one thing: targeted harassment from more mainstream fans of Swift. In an April 2023 report from social media tracking firm Graphika, researchers found that Gaylors made up nine percent of active Swift fans on social media, but are often exiled and isolated from neutral fan spaces. The study also found that anti-Gaylor accounts, also referred to as Hetlors, “play a key role” in how the theory is presented to mainstream audiences and often misrepresent commonly held Gaylor beliefs, which can lead to the harassment and doxxing of neutral Gaylor accounts. Each of the Gaylors who spoke to Rolling Stone detailed targeted harassment, hate speech, and homophobia they’ve received online, something they all believe Swift would stand against.
“I think that people who are against Gaylors think we’re way more serious about it than we are. A lot of the things we say are jokes or ideas or possible theories,” Liv says. “And at the end of the day, none of us know what the truth is about her personal relationships. And we shouldn’t want to because [Taylor Swift] is entitled to her privacy.”

Ask: this is a request you don't have to do if you don't want to, but teen! reader that wants to strike a deal with Lucifer, but with all the work he has, he asks Charlie to go instead. but when she goes there, she realizes that it's just a kid that wants to get away from her awful family. So Charlie helps her and then they get closer like siblings and then when she dies (either due to an accident or by doing it herself) they go to the hotel and there she meets everyone and bc Charlie helped her, she stays and helps out with the hotel by doing things like cooking, cleaning etc. I'm kinda rambling but I hope you get the gist.

Tumblr media
•Charlie Morningstar x teen! reader
•platonic, no horny
•what if…there was a kid who worked as a butler at the hotel
_______________________________________
You ran. As fast as you could. Your mom was going to send you away. Somewhere far, far away. You couldn’t take it anymore.
You were going to make a deal with Lucifer in order to have a safe space. It was the only way. You couldn’t survive in that house. You had to summon him. The only problem is that when you did summon him….
she showed up.
Charlotte Morningstar, daughter of Lucifer and Lilith. She helped you. She gave you a safe space, a little hole in space time that she could visit you in, and you could access without her. If only you didn’t have to go back to that dreadful home at the end of the day.
Over time, Charlie became like a sister to you. You would celebrate birthdays together, watch movies, laugh, and just be…happy. You cared about Charlie, and she cared about you. She didn’t understand why you would sell your soul, but accepted it nonetheless. But atleast if you didn’t, she wouldn’t have had a cool new younger sister.
but….on your thirteenth birthday, when she showed up with a cake….
“Y/n? Are you there? I brought you a birthday cake.”
Poor sweetheart found your suicide note on the table. She was heartbroken, but knew you would be in heaven. Oh boy, was she wrong.
When you woke up, you were in this really bright place. It was on fire, and it smelled like a bar and dried corpses. But worst of all was the way you looked. You were fluffy, with a bright pink maids dress, white fur, pink hair, a little cotton tail, and…bunny ears. YOU WERE A FREAKING BUNNY KID! That’s worse than being a spider(angel dust slander).
You tried to look at some tv’s, hoping to find a news broadcast that could tell you about this weird afterlife. Instead you saw an ad for a dumb hotel-wait. Is that Charlie? HOLY SHIT, ITS CHARLIE!
You rushed to the Hazbin Hotel as fast as you could, and you were greeted at the door by none other than Charlie herself. She scooped you into a bear hug and showed you to everyone in the hotel.
Once Charlie told you about her mission, you were eager to help. You were too young to do much though, you simply helped clean and cook. You always smiled through the work, just like your mom taught you. A smile was safe. When you smiled, you didn’t get hit.
The hotel is better with you in, you always bring in a bright atmosphere, and you cook the best meals though. Sometimes you miss your friends in the living world, but you wouldn’t want to get your new friends sad, so you kept smiled. Although, someone might see through it.
___________________ Lmao this was so rushed.
I have this and a few other fanfics saved in my drafts on my main blog so they’ll get posted there then reblogged on @thathastagbiotch bc that’s my fanfiction blog so follow that account not this one
