eddie did not fucking deserve that ending. what was the purpose of killing him off like that? other than the duffer bros wanting to stick with their formula of killing off beloved characters they introduce in every season. like he didn’t need to redeem himself to die a hero like some sort of ‘heroic sacrifice”, he didn’t need a redemption arc. the man was GOOD-HEARTED from the get-go. as evident by his interaction with chrissy in the woods, his adoration and care to his club members of hellfire, he was a big bro to the hellfire kiddos, he just wanted to graduate and pass on his hellfire leadership to the kiddos, he went along to the upside down to help his friends, kill vecna, avenge chrissy and then clear his name. LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK DID HIS DEATH SERVE?

AND THIS LINE BROKE ME! BROKE! HE RAN AWAY FROM PROBLEMS HIS WHOLE LIFE AND THE ONE TIME HE DIDN’T THE ONE TIME HE DESERVED TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT HIS BRAVERY, INSTEAD HE GOT AN UNTIMELY DEATH? dustin breaking down after eddie becomes unresponsive— i cried, cried and cried. i don’t remember the last time cried this much tbh. (don’t get me started on that lucas and max scene, oh my heart! somebody sedate me!)

you know what angers me more? eddie didn’t even get a funeral. no one got his body from the upside down? i don’t get it. everybody seemed to move on quickly? the more i think about, the more it angers me. no one mourned for eddie except for dustin and his uncle wayne.

are they gonna bring him back like hopper? my gut says it’s final eddie is gone gone but my heart thinks it might be a s03 hopper situation. i’m clearly still in the denial stage. yeah, i am delusional. I JUST WANT EDDIE BACK.

it’s the way they get us attached to characters like alexei, bob and eddie just to kill them right after they are introduced and rip our hearts out. THIS IS NOT OKAY. THIS IS BULLSHIT.

vol 2 is such an emotional rollercoaster, jonathan being the emotional support overprotective big bro to will, max saying she is not ready to die and lucas cry-screaming for erica to call help, eddie dying, dustin crying and holding eddie till his last breath, dustin and uncle wayne mourning for eddie. yeah, what is pain.

in summary, I AM NOT OVER EDDIE’S UNTIMELY DEMISE. IF MAX IS ALIVE AFTER GETTING HER BONES BROKEN IN MULTIPLE PLACES AND HER HEART RESTARTED, EDDIE CAN SURVIVE FROM BEING MAULED BY DEMOBATS FOR FUCKS SAKE. I HAVE A TINY HOPE DURING THIS GRIEVING PERIOD. AND THAT HOPE SHALL SUSTAIN ME UNTILL MY HEART HEALS AND I COME BACK TO REALITY. p/s: joseph quinn did a beautiful job. he turned eddie into a beloved and an unforgettable character. not only good-looking and have the most beautiful big ol’ brown eyes, he is very very talented actor. hope he continues to flourish and get more acting gigs. i’m gonna go search and watch his other roles… that might help mend my heart me thinks.

3rd - If Amazon is dropping the trailer this early, they know that there is major JLo wedding movie saturation problems….

I don't know how well the person who sent this knows me but this is a brilliant Sophie's Choice question for me as while I wouldn't say I hate either character there are points where I vehemently dislike both 😅

Both have things about them to like. But both are also flawed in a way that makes you want to shove them off a cliff, rather than makes them relatable.

I think they are both very self-involved and treat the women in their lives appallingly e.g. Dawson's pedestalling of Jen in S1 then total rejection of her when she doesn't meet the cinematic image he's decided on (i.e. blushing virgin who idolises him) and his ongoing terrible control of Joey and treating her like a possession. It's at its absolute worst in s3 at the anti prom when he guilt-trips her into going with him, claiming she's being silly and it's just as friends, then rips into her when she dances with Pacey, saying of COURSE he didn't invite her as a friend and she was stupid not to know that. Not to mention when he nearly kills Pacey thanks to his ego in a boat race. He's much more sympathetic in s4 (which is when Joey behaves badly and keeps trying to have her cake and eat it) and is actually pretty likeable in S5 when he's with Jen. Then in s6 he sleeps with Joey when he has a girlfriend and is just an utter dick again.

On the other hand, you have Xander's possessiveness of Buffy, which turns nasty when she doesn't reciprocate, and ongoing jealousy of Angel as a result which leads to him egging Faith into trying to kill him when he knows Angel is different from Angelus and, of course, the infamous "kick his ass" conversation when he lets Buffy go into a to-the-death battle with Angelus without warning her that Willow is attempting the restoration spell again. Then there is his ongoing awful treatment of Anya where he acts like she's an embarrassment, tries to change her at every turn, proposes with zero pressure from anyone else then leaves her at the altar.

I'm actually tempted to say Dawson cos he's more zen by the end, but on paper, I think Xander may have to win as his terrible behaviour tends more to be in response to romantic prospects but he's still a good friend to Willow and has his cool moments where he really supports someone ("What would Buffy do; you're my hero" "You're not special, Dawn, you're extraordinary"). Whereas Dawson is an appalling friend to Pacey long before Joey is a factor (e.g. his horrific drunk birthday speech in s2) and he turns on him again in a very telling way in s6.

Hmmm... On the other hand, just remembered Xander's terrible slut-shaming of both Anya and Buffy in s6 when he finds out they both slept with Spike. And! And! His horrendous Riley fan-boying where he claims he is the once-in-a-lifetime guy and Buffy has been out of line in how she's treated him - you know, the guy who cheated on her. And it's such a transparent projection of his own crap again cos Riley the human having Buffy but being second to Angel etc is such a trigger for him and his own insecurities and the vestiges of his entitlement towards Buffy.

No, Dawson wins. But that doesn't mean much 😁

PS if Joey had ended up with Dawson at the end my answer would likely be very different.
