Hi, we're a couple of trans girls who fucking love The Matrix, and also, conveniently, love talking about The Matrix.

You can change your name, it doesn't matter how often you change it, it doesn't matter however many names you go by, if you want to, you can change it, you could change it every week, every month, every year, it doesn't matter, you can change your name, don't feel bad about it

some good news!! the spanish state's ministry of equality has finally passed one of the most progressive trans laws on the planet, shielded free and universal access to abortion and banned conversion therapy and genital surgery for intersex babies, among a lot of other feminist policies. the minister of equality irene montero gave a speech thanking spain's lgtb and trans associations for helping her draft these legislations. couldn't be more proud!!

This is my petition for people who create pins/stickers/other things with "she/they" & "he/they" to also include "she/he". I'm kind of sick of being excluded, and I'm sure there are plenty of others who feel the same.

Their name was Nex Benedict.

They were 16 years old and deserved to live for many more years.

I can’t stop thinking about them and how every adult in that school and state failed them.

How the hateful rhetoric and dog whistle bathroom bills pushed by far right religious extremists led to this tragedy.

3 older teen girls beat them so badly they died from their injuries. Nex was murdered by hate.

We have been warning that the legal targeting of the trans community recently was going to lead to tragedy like this. We have been screaming from the rooftops that the right wing isn’t protecting anyone. And here we are.

I will continue to do what I can in the off line space to make the world safer for my community.

But I will also not forget Nex Benedict. Say their name. Remember who they were and who they never got the chance to become.

my dad, trying to understand the concept of being non-binary today:

- “so there’s chocolate and vanilla ice cream, but there’s also butterscotch… wow”

- “but if you’re non-binary, does that make you straight or gay? … wait, they can be ANYTHING?”

- “but there are some straight guys who occasionally do homosexual acts. are there gay guys who do the same thing but with women?

…no way”

- “people have all these labels these days and I feel like a ball of dough. can I identify as a ball of dough”

- “gay guys are usually feminine… but wait, what about the BEARS”

- “so if they’re not a man and they’re not a woman…they’re… bisexual?”

All the jokes about Ken and horses are good but I just wanna say it's such a good parallel to how actual young men get swept into misogyny and the patriarchy.

Like they're told to believe it means men get to be cool and manly and have this power but with that comes extremely rigid commands of what they can be as a man and a cycle of self hatred for never matching those gender roles perfectly. Patriarchy tells men that if they just do exactly what is expected of them, then they get all the "cool stuff" that comes with. That doesn't work though when there's only a small group that actually gets that power, but men will keep trying to fit into those roles in hopes that they can.

In the end there are no horses or the myth men are told, it's just endless cycles of self hatred and ingroup fighting.
