totk spoilers but are we ACTUALLY meant to think it’s poetic or flattering or triumphant that Rauru was like “oh YEAH? Well in thousands of years this guy called Link is gonna kick your ass”
How much has he even heard about Link? He must have had at least one more conversation about him with Zelda because the Master Sword doesn’t come up in the Zelda and Sonia tear, and by the King’s Duty tear Rauru’s just like oh don’t worry, if we don’t finish Ganondorf off I’m sure your bf can handle him. As I’ve said before, his “We rely on your knight” line rubbed me the wrong way starting with its appearance in the trailer, and it really does not feel less entitled after watching said knight (and that legendary sword he carries) very very VERY nearly get one-shotted by Ganondorf at the beginning of the game. And Zelda knows this! What does she feel watching her Better Dad Substitute sacrifice himself and simultaneously sic the evil bad guy on Link—a siccing which explicitly shapes Ganondorf’s attitude towards Link at the beginning of the game? At what point did she have the emotion of “welp. I know why Ganondorf knew Link’s name now.” The musical blending of the LOZ theme/hero’s theme with Rauru’s theme seems to suggest that it’s not an emotion meant to be had at exactly that moment, but I cannot watch Rauru sneer “remember that name” without yelling HE DOESN’T NEED THAT INFORMATION at the screen.
I played through the GSI in Japanese recently and Rauru did seem a touch less entitled to Link than I’ve been reading him—mostly because of the formal, polite, outgroup-equal language he used with him—but I still can’t get over the extent to which Rauru heard about Link a few times and decided, sight unseen, that he was going to clean up Rauru’s mess. My man what made you think that. What gave you the right to decide that. And how frightening to be Zelda and watch Rauru pin all the world’s hope on her beloved knight who Ganondorf absolutely fucking wiped the floor with. We see this worry in her in the Master Sword in Time cutscene! To what extent can Zelda’s transformation and before that her petition to the other tribes of Hyrule for Link’s sake be understood as a forced action due to Rauru’s conviction that Link could do this no sweat? Almost entirely, I feel—but does the game know that?
I just. Isn't it intentional? Doesn't it have to be? The fact that Rauru already needs the correction, once, that he cannot and should not face the Demon King alone. Then his melodramatic claim that Link has got this on lock. Then Zelda being like 😬 not sure about this actually and going through the whole process of talking to the ancient sages + draconifying for the sake of the Master Sword. Because Rauru absolutely set Link up to fail and Zelda is the one making sure Link has the resources, including the support of others, he needs to succeed. And the game is so much about community, about not doing things on your own.
And yet the way the scene is scored and animated and the way all the other characters talk about Rauru's sacrifice seems to treat this as a a moment of culmination, of triumph. I am getting such mixed messages here.
Understand, I’m saying all of this with an aching fondness for this poor self-deluded hypocrite. And also teeth-grinding frustration. I think he deserves to feel suffocatingly humiliated when Link almost didn’t survive Ganondorf’s attack and I also have tremendous sympathy for the shame and terror that it might be far too late to correct his mistake that he must have felt as he waited for Link to wake up. Both of those things. Hopelessly lonely man who found people to love him and built himself into a role he was never adequate for. I wish the game looked at this a little more. I wish I could tell if the game intended this at all.
(This is not the most intelligently written post but I assure you I mean every word of it.)

HOW DO YOU MAKE THE#CHARACTERS SPIN??? AND CHANGING CAMERA ANGLES??? and keep in mind youre doing this all with a shitty stylus#on a THREE BY TWO INCH SCREEN. you only get two layers you can go up to 29FPS and you only have 999 slides to work with#and 24FPS eats up a lot of that. absolutely insane it literally boggles my mind every time i think about it. AND SOME ARE EVEN FULL COLOR#i forgot how popular EDM was back then too...they were really good for timing beats though so you get a lot of MVs with#strobe last and marble soda. porter robinsons goodbye to a world was also popular with undertale and oc MVs. also a lot of vocaloid#someone made a flipnote abt the warner bros fnaf movie being announced EIGHT FUCKING YEARS AGO. it even used the stay calm audio from#the office.... i wonder how theyre doing now... i love you shitty grainy MV audio.. but i have mixed feelings abt the flashing colors#ppl LOVED animating the sans vs frisk fight. aishite and primadonna were also big ones they were SICK AS FUCK#lots of these inspired my old oc designs.. a lot of my characters had side bangs with one eye covered. animal ears and simple eyes too#now i kinda wanna try my hand at the marble soda meme cause i loved it as a kid lol.. i wonder if i should compare my old and new art here#UGHHHH IM SO NORMAL ABOUT NOSTALGIA. gacha !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
jungkook jumps nexts to you, surprised and scared at the gasp you let out. stopping in your tracks as you stare down the street, your mouth slightly open and eyes shining.
he holds a hand to his chest. "jesus babe, you scared me."
"baby, look! can we go?" mindlessly ignoring him and purely focused on the small store that caught your eye, extending your arm out to point at it.
jungkook follows your finger. "ahh, the gachapon store. that's new, that wasn't there the last time we were here in this area." he thinks out loud before lacing your fingers with his and leading you both towards the new building. you don't even want to know how much jungkook paid for these tokens that he had walked over to you with that stupid sweet smile of his and a cup full of the golden tokens.
the store was like toy heaven, walls and aisles full off gacha toy machines of many different interests. it's almost overwhelming until your boyfriend gently pushes you with a hand on your lower back, to the first wall inside.
"let's start here, take your time." it's as if this man was inside your brain and had the answers to all your problems. you reach on your tippy toes and place a soft kiss on his cheek.
"shut up, they have animal crossing keychains. oh my god, look at tom, i want him. who do you think i'm gonna get?"
jungkook predicts isabelle.
you insert the instructed amount of tokens and turn the handle til the capsule falls into place. jungkook watches with a small smile, finding you so endearing and cute that the anticipation of a capsule of random assortment of your interests has you all giddy.
"i got isabelle. you guessed right! should i try again for tom?" holding up the toy to his face so he can see the popular character of the familiar yellow dog that he's seen on your nintendo switch countless of times.
jungkook, the shopping enabler he is, tells you 'try as many times as you want, i'll get you more tokens if you want baby'.
you don't know if the universe was on your side but this fairly new store managed to have almost all of your interests in these machines. jungkook ended up having to grab your reusable bag from your purse to hold all your prizes. he wonders if you even have room for all these with your other trinkets decorating your home.
"baby, look they have matching charms." you walk over to one of the last machines, already finding the one you want. you turn to look at him with those eyes.
"would you match with me? we can put it on our keys."
he can't help but giggle at you, he throws his head back to glance at the ceiling. feeling his chest do that thing again anytime he's around you.
"of course." he tells you. don't you know by now that he'll do anything for you?

Hello! If I may, I’d like to make a request.
When I was little (between 4 and 8), my brother and I played Ocarina of Time constantly. It was our go-to game when hanging out. We replayed it and found all secrets and stuff. I was wondering if you could do a platonic self aware OOT!Link one shot? One where Link considers the player to be like a sibling to him since they grew up together in a way?
Thank you so much! I really enjoy your work ❤️
you're very welcome anon! this was such a sweet request to write!! I went with the post timeskip link for this seeing as I've already written one for Majora's mask link and I thought it would be more interesting to have that difference between the two pieces <3 I hope you'll enjoy this
[masterlist]
Tumblr media
“Hey, I’ve been wanting to ask for a while… do you still have that old copy of Ocarina of time we used to play together? I’ve been kinda wanting to replay it. It’s a bit of a pain to get a new one or an emulator though so…”
“Uh? I think so, I can check in my attic later and drop it around your place tomorrow if I can?”
“That sounds perfect, thanks for the favour man.”
That was a fairly productive phone call, now I hopefully won’t have to mess about with an emulator or shell out for the subscription to play it again. Seeing as Nintendo doesn’t want to make their old catalogue accessible. All I need to do on my end is to wait and possibly google how to set up an N64 in the meantime.
Turns out that we did still have the old thing, and that it isn’t all that hard to set up either so it’s not like it takes too long for me to hear the calmingly melancholic tones of the game’s opening theme. Our old save file is still there too, although some of the stats on the file seem to have gotten a little bit corrupted because I’m convinced we completed it fully. Although it’s been what like 10 years or more since I would’ve last played, it makes sense that I might just be misremembering things. No harm in seeing where we left off though is there?
Well even though the file says otherwise, looking through Link’s inventory really wants to disprove that - there’s something with the same sprite as Zelda’s letter where it should just be an empty slot. It’s not got a name, if I hover over it it simply brings up a missing value error and the button prompt me to read it. It’s not like there’s any issue if I did open it, it’s an old save file so even if it does corrupt I won’t lose anything.
Nothing happened, just a fade to blank before it glitched out and the inventory screen popped back up so that I could close it and have a look around…
How did Link turn around as I was paused in the inventory and how did his face get so close to the screen?
“[Name]? I knew you’d be back at some point! I knew you wouldn’t just leave your older brother for good… you wouldn’t would you?”
“...How do you know my name..?”
I know that Ai has gotten incredibly good recently but this is an N64, an unmodded one at that, so whatever the hell is happening right now can’t be due to that. This feels like it could be the start to a creepypasta though with everything going on right now - is this like a real life ben drowned - no it can’t be, he’d be crying blood if it were the case and he wouldn’t be as friendly either.
“Because you told me it all those years ago when you first played through the game? You always spoke to me like I was a real person, like you saw me as your older brother, so it’s only natural that I started to see you like a little sibling right? Then when you disappeared I got so worried, It’s been so long but you’ve gotten so much older! Did you pull the mastersword yourself, because this much time can’t have really passed can it?... Can it?”
He looks almost like he’s about to cry, I should be caref- why am I so worried about hurting the feelings of a fictional character? Is it cause he sees me like a sibling, a younger one; because he knows me from when I was younger; or because he seems so attached to me already? Maybe I should just… turn it off so I don’t have to deal with it.
“I don’t remember how long it’s been, a good few years at least, Since I’ve played it. I wasn’t exactly planning to-”
“Is that what you used to control me!? I’ve never been able to get a good look at it before. Would you mind bringing it closer?”
“...Yeah I can bring it closer.”
The way he interrupted me was so so sad, he’s forcing himself to be cheery when he looks like he’s about to break down, like how an older brother would act. He really sees himself as my older brother doesn’t he? I have to admit that the way he’s leaning against the screen like an excited kid is also pretty cute I won’t lie to myself, if it weren’t for how insane the situation is I don’t think I’d mind him being my younger brother. He’s younger than me now anyway so that makes far more sense.
Is the screen cracking beneath him?
It’s definitely cracking under his weight, there are seconds left before it shatters.
“It’s so simple and yet it was the reason that you were able to-”
Glass can only last so long. And now he’s out, lying on my floor in a shocked heap with glass shards surrounding and covering him. After a couple of seconds of neither of us knowing what to do, we both snap into action at the same time, while I try to help him up and check for any serious wounds… he’s just laughing with the widest goofiest smile on his face, grabbing at my arms like I’m nothing but a wisp of a dream.
“I - wow I - I could never have imagined that I could - that this - that this was even an option for me…”
“But I can be your brother in person now can’t I?”

Jack Champion x gamer gf! reader
J. Champion with a gamer gf headcanons
Tumblr media
a gym rat and gamer girl in love.
A/N: incredibly short and silly, because this was just on my mind.
◇ even before he had asked you if he could be your boyfriend, he knew about your gaming addiction— obsession.
◇ no matter where he saw you, your eyes were always set on a screen.
◇ whether that be on your PlayStation, computer or even the Nintendo Switch.
◇ he knew you liked gaming, but when you started dating, he truly got to meet gamer you.
◇ you stayed at his house often, it was almost your second home.
◇ the main reason being: the two of you were glued together.
◇ it doesn't matter what either of you were doing, as long as you did it together.
◇ moments when you sat somewhere with your phone being opened on Genshin, waiting at the gym while he was training.
◇ this also meant your stuff being in his bedroom.
◇ your Nintendo Switch for example.
◇ whenever the two of you were free from any work and college, you would be lying down on the bed, resting your head into his lap.
◇ you would be playing any form of tactical strategic game as he ran his fingers through your hair.
◇ he would watch the way your nose scrunched up as you glared at the screen to figure out how to ambush the enemy without getting your team killed.
◇ the movie he had put on the television long forgotten as he watched you in admiration.
◇ he would give commentary as he watched you, asking you things that he saw as he was genuinely interested in the stuff you like.
◇ "babe? What does that icon mean?"
◇ "do you get to dress up your main character?"
◇ "is there a reason why you put the arrow users behind the sword users?"
◇ he knows he might sound dumb, but he was genuinely wondering.
◇ you looked like you knew what you were doing, as if you put all of your energy into it.
◇ it was cute.
"Are you sure I can try? I mean I don't want to ruin your rounds-"
"Jack, babe, it's fine! I will help you." You were playing 'fire emblem three houses' on Jack's lap, but you couldn't help but feel a gaze burning into your skin. You had looked to the side, watching how he watched you with interest. You knew that look, he was curious, eager to try.
So you told him he could.
You were still in his lap, the Switch in his hands as yours were on top of his to guide him.
"What I always do is keep the bow user behind with the healer, before that I usually put mages, then axes and polearms and swords. I usually put cavalry on their own as they're pretty strong. Sometimes I leave them with healers, as they also have another weapon to use so that the cavalry isn't all alone."
He had no idea what you were saying and it was noticeable in the way he was playing.
Attacking a cavalry with a bow user, but he was getting there.
You couldn't tell him off, though. The way he was fully concentrating in the game with his chin resting against the top of your head.
◇ when the two of you were at your home, he would sit you on his lap as he watched you game.
◇ one of his arms wrapped around your waist to keep you in place, his other hand occupied by his phone.
◇ his phone was long forgotten though, as he watched you carry in your valorant match.
◇ you play without a headset when Jack is around so that he doesn't feel closed off or ignored.
◇ this is how he hears the toxicity of Valorant though.
◇ genuinely gets angry when you get insulted.
"Bro, why you assuming aimbot? Not my fault I can actually aim." You groaned into the mic as your fingers aggressively tapped on the WASD keys. You got into yet another toxic match and it was pissing you off.
"Make me a fucking sandwich, fucking bitch."
Now that made Jack furious. The grip on your waist got tighter as he cussed the other player out into the mic. He wouldn't let anyone get off the hook so easily, not when they degraded his girl.
"Who do you think you are, fucker? Treating women like trash? You're so fucking pathetic." His voice was hoarse as he spoke, venom laced into his words.
◇ worries when you play any game that involves communication via the mic after hearing what words are exchanged.
◇ call of duty, apex, valorant.
◇ any shooter games.
◇ he just worries that the words will get to you, but seeing how much you enjoy the game, as well as the way you knew how to reply to such comments he just knew you would be okay.
◇ that wouldn't stop him from being the overprotective boyfriend, though.
◇ eventually, Jack actually wanted to spend his time gaming with you as well.
◇ you were over the moon when he had told you that.
◇ your gym addicted boyfriend? Wanting to learn about the game world?
◇ you knew you had to start easy.
◇ something cute, interactive but romantic.
◇ minecraft.
◇ he knew about minecraft. He had played it a couple times with friends, but that was years ago.
◇ he had bought the game on his phone and you helped him with his own avatar!
◇ fun fact: the name of your shared world is actually your shipname.
◇ he hits all the flowers he can find for you.
◇ his entire inventory is filled with different kinds of flowers.
◇ follows you around like a lost puppy when the two of you go hunting.
◇ wants to be your knight in shining armor, but only has flowers to smack the zombies with.
◇ screamed when a creeper blew up not so far away from him.
◇ gets distracted by the most stupid things he can find.
"do we need this web?"
"rotten flesh? Should I take it?"
"this polar bear reminds me of you babe!"
"babe help! I lose you."
"can you come get me? I think I'm lost."
◇ he loves to spend his time building you guys' house and he acts like that's actually what your house will look like.
◇ "hmm, I actually want the dinner table to be here, since you like sitting down and facing that way, right"
◇ you told him it's just a game, but he wants it to be as accurate as possible.
◇ he squealed when you tamed a cat and called it Butters.
◇ he spends time fixing cute dates in minecraft while you're busy with college: picnics, mini zoos— since he knows you're more of an indoor person.
◇ you thank him with a lot of irl kisses.
◇ all over all, he's trying for you and he enjoys spending time with you, no matter what. <3
◇ BONUS
◇ he is so jealous whenever he catches you playing gacha games.
◇ why? He always catches you drooling at some hot animated characters.
◇ sits far away frowning, arms crossed as he watches you giggling at your phone.
"Babe! I'm the real deal! He doesn't exist!"
◇ he just wants attention, pls tell him you love him. <3

this game is boring.
Tumblr media
#ID: just megumi not understanding the appeal of animal crossing — and you try to get him to understand.
warnings: megumi being a pessimist and not appreciating animal crossing
nya note: uh this is OLDDDDD, i wrote it in like april & nvr dropped.
Tumblr media
“you already said you would. come onnnn.” you whined, already holding the joycons to your nintendo switch. megumi promised he’d play animal crossing, even if it was only for a couple minutes. he didn’t understand the appeal of animal crossing at all, it was so quiet and boring. “i know, i know.” megumi responded, sitting on the couch in front of the tv. “so.. what do i do?” he asked, looking at you and then at the tv, both like he was looking at a trigonometry equation.
“i haven’t fished, or talked to my villagers, or checked my nook store today.” you said, as you made your character walk around the island. “oh, that’s you? why are your eyes so big?” megumi asked, a wide grin on his face because he knew he was just nit picking the game to annoy you. “it’s a game, ‘gumi, how realistic do you think it can be?” you rolled your eyes at his comment, making your character walk around and pick up shells off the beach.
“okay, you take the controller now.. um, there isn’t much you can do that’ll mess with my stuff.” you said, handing him the joycons and watching him play the game. “okay.. i’m gonna shake this tree.” megumi said, shaking an apple tree, making the apples fall from the top, “will something else happen if i keep shaking?” he continued, still shaking the tree until a wasps’ nest came from it. “what the fuck? why didn’t you tell me that was gonna happen?” the tone of his voice made you laugh, he sounded like he was genuinely serious about this game he was just saying was ‘pointless’.
“if i told you, it would take away the whole point of this.” you replied, watching him make the character run away — seemingly in defeat — from the tree. “i shook a tree, what else do you do in this game?” megumi said, his eyes glued to the screen and the bright colors radiating from it. “get the net and catch some bugs.” you said, watching him navigate (the long way) to get the pink net from your inventory. you watched him walk around the map, catching a couple bugs and losing the majority of them.
“there’s spiders in this? can i catch it?” megumi asked, his tone full of interest for someone who was previously calling the game boring. “you can try, i’ve never caught one before.” you replied, sitting back and watching him approach the spider. as he got closer to the spider and it became more apparent on the screen, it darted towards the character and bit it. “this game is violent as fuck, why are all the bugs so mean?” megumi asked, his voice full of defeat. “you put up a good fight, baby. maybe you’re just not built for this.” you joked as he handed the joycons back to you. “can i teach you how to play overwatch now?” he asked, a pleading smile on his face as you rolled your eyes.

so, i have thought more about what we now know about botw2 and honestly, setting aside the smaller things i am not a fan of (like the building aspect) my biggest gripes about it are the plot looking like its gonna be very generic, especially regarding ganondorf, while i hoped it would perhaps finally give us a little more interesting take instead good vs evil; and the oh so mysterious figure you see in in the trailer very likely to be hylia, since shes mentioned constantly in the first game (among other things like her design being pretty much a carbon copy of zelda for the most boring reasons imaginable)
and no its not just bc of my stupid little fanworks (that i do bc i love the franchise, as much as i am critical of it, it comes from being very passionate about it, hence me working my fan lore around the canon so it doesnt disturb it much, its more meant to expand it on parts i think are a little lacking without me trying to sound superior, literally just as an act of love (and a little spite ill admit that) to add something to it)- BUT bc i have little hope they would do anything more than just going full blown "this monstrous beast is pure inherently evil, and this is the pure inherently good white little girl goddess whos just protecting her god given perfect and unshakable good tm monarchy" with no little to no nuance (theres also alot more to be critical of the general structure and implications like racism, orientalism, nationalism, that while i can see alot of wrong or questionable things in the games i lack the eloquence to talk about in its full range) yes i am personally biased bc i just .. hate that kind of story/worldbuilding structure, but i dont think im the only one who would think of it as boring and .. disappointing?
i dont need ganondorf to be redeemed, i dont need him to be the good himbo bf that some people think all ganondorf stans want, i just want him to be more than to shout "i will conquor this kingdom bc i am evil and want it" and send a horde of monsters after you, at the very least id want the game to just aknowledge that there must be a reason for it, why it turned out like this
the zelda series and its world has so much potential, which is probably a reason for its popularity in fanworks, but also keeps not using it, no i dont expect a company like nintendo to deliver on all my hopes, of course not, im not that delusional, but the further i think and learn about this universe and concepts they created i find myself asking "why" more and more where the games never elaborate, never question
i like a clear structure, i like when your choices dont have a big or any impact on the story bc i want to live the story, not worry about every decision like i already do every second of my life IRL, i want to partake in a movie, in a theater piece i can influence the pace of but not change the outcome, yet i feel kind of ... ignored? let down? asking why and how, how do they know this is right and this is wrong, how do they keep enacting this seeing it never works out, keep saying defeat this evil, but evil yet returns stronger than before over and over, how do they never ask "is this the right way?", they say "we need to kill it more next time"
i know they are fictional little characters made up to sell a game, with a convevient plot point to ever repeat the same structure, but it cant be wrong to say "i love this world, i want to see and know more, i want to see it grow and change, break the cycle and be better, show me characters not puppets"
theres very surely nuances and ideas i am sorely missing bc i lack the knowledge of japanese as a language, culture, and mythology, but i dont think it invalidates all that i feel for it ..
.. right?

BLLK | Nagi Seishiro - My girl.
❝┋volleyball player! kenma! fem! reader x football player! nagi seishiro
Tumblr media
"See you later Chibi-chan!" Kuroo waved at you with a cat smile on his lips as you stared boredly at him and his rooster dark hair. You finished your volleyball practice from your high school club and was returning home when you met Kuroo.
Kuroo is your bother's bestfriend. He is the captain of his volleyball club. You were playing with your nintendo switch and had demon slayer manga pressed between your forearms. You unfortunately fell asleep on the bus back from the game.
Zelda series got you hooked on games. Your mates who see your everyday with switch and manga wonders how you have ridiculously clear skin being a gamer. Well Kenma genes run in you. You have social anxiety , never asked anyone for help.
Kuroo belived him being a kind angel , woke you up in the right stop and told you he will walk you home. But you walked towards a different street making him confused. He asked you how this is not Kenma's house once you both reached.
"It's my boyfriend's home.." you mumbled eyes on your game , your game character dodging all obstacles and moving forward. You and your boyfriend Nagi Seishiro , a football player just like you lazy and uninterested.
Maybe that's what pulled you both together. Your school Nekoma and their school's volleyball club had a match when Nekoma High went to their school. There , after you match , you had a manga on your lap while you played your game.
"Oh.. you remind me of my friend.." A manly voice said making you raise your head at the spoke voice meeting a purple haired male in his soccer fit. Your device beeped showing your character dead and points earner with a big written text that said GAME OVER and TRY AGAIN.
You just sighed and placed your headphone resting on your shoulder on your ears listening to songs to block out the voice. You had more time for break and didn't want to waste it now. "Oh come on.. don't do that." The purple haired guy pouted when someone called him out.
"Reo!" a noticeably tall teenager having have short white hair that leaves a V-shaped fringe in between his eyes called the guy who talked to you. "Nagi! look I found your soulmate!" the boy laughed calling his other friend.
The gray-colored eye boy looked at you who shrunk under your volleyball jersey , manga on your lap and switch in your hands. You both shared a solid 4 second eye contact which was broken by you. "y/n! let's go , break is over." your team called you out. 'y/n...' Nagi thought.
Nagi gulped , heart thumping. Not only he found someone who had same interests as him but also someone athletic. You muttered curses under your breath getting up and placing your things in your bag with a frown. "What's that look on your face? excited?" your friend teased.
"I don't know what you are talking about." you slumped and walked towards the court. "Say.. should we watch their game?" Reo suggested elbowing his friend with a smirk. Nagi said nothing just his eyes lingering on your for more than he intended to.
Those two watched as your team played against their school's team. The opposite team jumped and shot the ball at your team who's libero saved the ball in time. 'Why is gravity a thing in this world? gravity pisses me off' you made a annoyed face and jumped since you were a setter.
'If gravity didn't exist the ball wouldn't have fallen into out court' your grit your teeth touching the ball with your fingers and looked at the opposite team. "Man she sure seems happy to play.." Reo laughed sarcastically. Nagi's eye still at you as his mouth formed a :x shape looking at you.
You saw the team's messed up defence and didn't set the ball to anyone but dumped into their court over the net. "A setter's dump!" player gasped seeing the ball hit the floor , your team gaining a point. Your team surprised by you , not being lazy thought you were sick.
Nagi''s and Reo's eyes widened at the stunt. "Man.. that was cool." Reo said seeing your team give you a banana which you had a grumpy face. "You must be low on carbs , eat a banana." your team captain smiled. You angrily munched on the fruit getting mad.
"Is it so weird that I worked hard for my friends!? is it that weird huh!?" you shouted , with banana still in your mouth stuffed in your cheeks looking like a cute hamster. Nagi looked away covering his face with his arms and ran away from the court.
Reo then discovered Nagi got shy and ran away flustered and teased him about that a lot. Blushing? Gross. Love? Yuck. Fortunately Reo playing a cupid , asked for your number. He discovered how you were socially anxious and didn't nag you more but said it was for his friend.
You looked at the white haired man with red face and :x expression and just gave him your number said your name. "Kenma y/n." you mumbled making him smile. "Man you have a great voice, you should talk more." he said.
And that's my friends the first meeting between two introverts. Birds of feather flock together right? Nagi took a good 2 months to gather courage and text you. Later you both became common friends by playing games.
Nagi confessed to you online when we you both were slaying ender dragon. "y/n if I kill this dragon without dying please date me!" he shouted , letting his tongue slip. He defeated the dragon but left the game too flustered and embarrassed to talk to you.
You then called him and told him you felt the same. You both went on a date in Minecraft , Nagi collected blocks for building home while you picked flowers to decorate flower. Nagi's minecraft character walked towards you and threw you a flower from his inventory. awww.
He would place his Minecraft bed next to yours. You both decided to meet offline and was too shy to talk to each other but soon got comfortable playing games , laughing and watching anime. You fell asleep on Nagi's lap that day making his heat almost burst out.
Now , presently your boyfriend and you were dating for 8 months , both in a happy healthy relationship. You walked in Nagi's house, since you had a spear key which he gave to you. His mom and dad were out for most of the time.
You looked at his pet cactus Choki and tapped on the pot twice like a greeting. Being tired and exhausted by the practice you looked at the house being lighted up meaning Nagi was home. You wanted nothing but to cuddle with him.
You removed your top left in sports bra feeling sweaty.  You placed your switch and bag on top of the table , walking towards Nagi's room holding your manga concentrated at the panels. You opened the door and looked up from the book as your eyes shot up wide and looked at your boyfriend who had shirt over his head.
"holy shit," you whispered dropping your manga and looked at Nagi's 8 packs. He's not huge, but symmetrical. Beautifully balanced. He was athletic and in proportion. Your drooled at him , Waist to hip ratio, waist to shoulder ratio, height and ring finger to index finger ratio everything.
As you look down he had boxers , above his V line flowing down. "Eh?" Nagi pulled the shirt over his head completely and looked over his shoulder too see his girlfriend standing near the door , nothing but with bra and shorts , manga on floor.
His eyes widened too, as blush forced from his neck to ears. But when he saw your red face , all his embarrassment went away as he felt more confident. "Oh hello , angel." he greeted walking towards you when you walked back. "Ack—" haired on your neck raised when he was near you.
Nagi raised his hand holding eye contact with you and pressed it against the hard door , locking it shut with you pressed against by your half naked boyfriend. "Hi Sei.." you mumbled only to be silenced by Nagi's lips pressed against yours.
He placed his hand under your head , holding you gently so you won't hit your head. Grasping your hips with his other hand, he sucked your bottom lip , you kissed him back with same pleasure. He sucked and occasionally pecked near you cupid's bow as his tubercles were on yours.
You traced a random pattern on his chest using your finger tips. You both broke away for oxygen , both your faces red and gasping for air. He placed his head on your shoulder and mumbled in tired voice. "So.. sleepy, let's cuddle?" he asked pecking your nape.
"Yeah.." you shivered and closed your eyes , enjoying your boyfriend's warmth you both shared. Your fingers were intertwined into his long hair and clenching into a fist gently massing his scalp as he sighed in relaxation , feeling good when you did that.
You kissed his forehead and he put you on the bed gently. You both laid on your sides. Seishiro wrapped his arm around you, providing a tight and secure embrace. He mumbled how he was exhausted practicing for nationals and both fell asleep in no time.
the end.  original source : my wattpad account.

Mike is a character who we associate with the blue color the most, right? Also, blue is kinda associated with the Upside Down and Vecna because of that blue light we see there.
Tumblr media
Blue is the basic color of mlm pride flag. It was created in 2019. And you know what? In russian slang голубой (which is translated as “blue”) means “gay" and it originates from the '60s.
Tumblr media
Almost every outfit Mike wears in s4 is blue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
credits to @lesbianmindflayer from your fellow subscriber who try not to miss any video analysis! <3 Also, I feel you'll be quite excited about the following thing, which is the origin and usage of that slang in relation to the gaybirdgate too.
The phrase “fly, doves, fly” used to warn gay men in russia reminded me of the moment when Dustin navigates Murray in s3. “Fly right, Bald Eagle. Fly right.”
The phrase “fly, doves, fly” used to warn gay men in russia reminded me of the moment when Dustin navigates Murray in s3. “Fly right, Bald Eagle. Fly right.”
Tumblr media
Mike is also associated with an eagle because of the poster he had in his basement and later gave to El.
Tumblr media
Eagle is a symbol of America. America -> Mike. I don't want to go in-depth here, because that's the whole other thing, but I'm adding the links on Nintendo and Americantendo theory, which I wrote based on @nadia-zahra 's observations and my posts about Erica ("you can't spell America without Erica") for those who're interested what is the connection. BUT the gaybirdgate is not closed yet.
Nintendo theory;
Nintendo 2.0 (Americantendo);
@doriandrifting 's post, connected to that theory.
Erica will take Murray's place in s5;
Erica is level 14 in D&D;
Erica & the spaceship;
Erica & "I Want To Break Free" easter egg;
Erica & opening the door;
Erica & Tina's Apple Jack's party (+Murray's The Bald Eagle poster analysis);
The phrase голубая мечта (translated as "blue dream") caught my attention. The expression appeared under the influence of the famous play (with a very fairy-tale-like setting -> "It looks like a fairytale") "The Blue Bird" written by Maurice Maeterlinck in 1908. The blue bird is a symbol of happiness that has been in the home all along; the children simply have not recognized and valued it.
Tumblr media
As we already know, dreams are one of the key themes and focus in ST, especially in season 4 with “Dream a Little Dream of Me”, but let’s not forget about “Never Ending Story.”
Tumblr media
Not only has it a line "fly a fantasy," but "dream a dream, and what you see will be." What is Mike’s blue dream? Of what is he dreaming secretly? Or better say, of who? It’s a rhetorical question for bylers. But the GA will find out too, with the help of Vecna and his mirror (aka the visions he shows to his victims of who they really are). The answer is upon a rainbow. Literally.
Tumblr media
In the picture of Mike's room I pinned above, you can also notice a heart with a heart, cloud, rainbow and something written on it.
"Rhymes that keep our secrets will unfold behind the clouds, and there upon a rainbow is the answer to a neverending story." "Without heart, we'd all fall apart." Will's words rhyme and Mike is Will's heart.
@angelwithnightmares 's guess is it may say If you can dream it, you can do it" (Walt Disney's quote) and doesn't it connect the dots? Taking into account @madwheelerz manifestation theory and how Mike (the writer and the DM) & Will (the artist) -- the duo with huge imagination manifested the events in ST because of their dreams nightmares feels very real to me.
PLUS, I'm tagging @there-was-a-hole-here-itsgonenow and adding links to her Disney’s Figment the dragon posts here and here, because HE IS IMAGINATION. We can spot him in the Bingham house below Suzie’s window. When we hear the birds are singing outside. Behind the yellow & blue curtain.
Tumblr media
What made me do this post may you ask? Listening to Mike's playlist. There are two songs with the word “blue.”
#12: “Can’t Shake That Feeling” by Grum
Tumblr media
#33: “Blue Monday” by New Order
Tumblr media
And plenty of songs about the dreams too. I counted seven of them.

Consider cloning one of these games...
So the other day someone was showing me the trailer to some neat new indie game they were getting into, and my immediate thought was "that does look pretty nice but FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING! INDIE DEVS, PLAY A SECOND GAME ALREADY!"
Presumably you've already guessed this, but it was a nice little handcrafted thing that was very plainly inspired primarily by Super Metroid. Even had those bubble-looking platforms. I'd say what it was specifically, but I already forgot the name, because, you know, I've kinda seen a few games do this before.
Tumblr media
It's not like Super Metroid isn't one of my favorite games of all time, obviously. I'm one of the shockingly few people who played it when it was new and totally fell in love then. And it's also not like there aren't several games made in its image that I also love. It's just that there's way too damn many of them out there for anyone to play, and while I'd never be one to tell someone not to make the thing they want to make due to market saturation or whatever, I kinda feel like we're doing a huge disservice to our collective creativity and appreciation of classic games to all be so hyper-focused on putting our own spins on this one particular game, especially when it kinda knocked things out of the park back when this wasn't a genre it was just this one super cool game with, among other things, a compelling structure to it.
Like, I do love that Super Metroid became A game that's served as a focal point for indie devs to try and recreate. Back when it was first released it actually sold kinda terribly by Nintendo's standards, and didn't really have anything else out there trying to iterate on the concept until we eventually got the Castlevania series going that route, and Cave Story. But at this point, yeah, Super Metroid has been all canonized and studied to death and if you're the sort of person who cares about this sort of thing in the slightest you know all about how it ticks and the appeal and what other ways the basic premise can be pulled in. So it's well past time for people to take another game that's super great and fairly unique and use that as a jumping off point to make some new things. So I'm just going to ramble here a little about some real gems that nobody's ever really gotten around to trying to replicate.
Punch-Out!!
I want to say we're all familiar with Punch-Out!! but... are we? It's a famously difficult game, so odds are good you've seen speedruns or other challenge runs, but you really have to play it for yourself to see what's so interesting about it. A big part of the initial appeal of course was having these really expressive screen-filling characters, which isn't something we're lacking now. It's also real twitchy, basically unplayable towards the end if you're dealing with any sort of input lag at all, which isn't super unique these days, but structurally, the way it's coded, there's all this weird artificial drama to it.
Like, on the surface, it's a pretty straightforward thing. Enemies have tells for their attacks, you dodge those, you hit them in the resulting openings. But there's also the round based structure, knock-downs, and one-off gimmick mechanics in the mix. Officially, we're playing by the rules of boxing where the outcome of a match is decided by either knocking someone down and them not getting back up, knocking them down three times in a round, or running out of time and having to go to some judge's decision. But that's not REALLY how it works.
There's no random chance of someone going down and staying down. You've got HP meters, you take one down, your opponent falls over, waits until late in the count and gets up, forcing you to drain that HP down three times before the round ends, and if yours bottoms out, you get to mash buttons to stand up and have your other two chances. But then there's times you CAN take someone down, not only keeping them down for a KO win, but even getting there without your opponent bottoming out on HP first. The most famous example, I believe of both of these, being Bald Bull's charge. The big dramatic make or break where he just keeps using this special move which isn't terribly hard to dodge, but deadly if it connects, and dodging doesn't really help as he won't stop until the round ends, and then might spend the whole second round doing nothing but. You need to take that risk, and get that frame perfect stomach strike just before he connects to dramatically KO him and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat... or you can do this:
youtube
I was actually looking for an example of the all or nothing strike when I found this. If you don't face the charge in round 1, he gets into it sooner in round 2 to force the matter, but if you're still not confident enough to go for it there, turns out you can just drop him early into round 3 and have him stay down... and the only real consistent rule any of this follows is drama. Heck looking at the opening screen here, this person knows tricks for getting a KO on at least the first 10 opponents. Most of them I've always just taken the TKOs on myself. Point is though, the mechanics really run on drama. AI scripts change up if you move onto new rounds. Knock-downs turn into knock outs if and only if it fits a certain narrative. This sort of thing is super fascinating to me. Makes me want to look through the game's code line by line. And the only thing I can think of in any other game that even comes close is, of all things, the Ace Attorney series, with those scenery chewing meltdowns, and scattered scenes that "break the rules" with instant failure penalties or no-win situations where you're then suddenly saved by a friendly NPC's dramatic appearance.
I wouldn't suggest anyone literally try to make a Punch-Out!! clone. There's no real reason to stick to the boxing framework. I'd definitely advise against copying all the broad stereotypes. But there's a real unique soul to the drama-driven mechanics breaking stated rules I'd love to see people really digging into to gain a deep understanding of it and apply that to original games.
Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic
Tumblr media
I'm not just being pretentious and refusing to say Super Mario Bros. 2. When it was Mario-ized, there were two huge changes- A run button the original FDS game didn't have, and the fundamental structural change of just having you finish levels with whatever character you like (or use warp zones to skip them entirely). In the original game, in order to see the proper ending, you had to play each and every level with each and every character with no run button. And that's neat, actually.
See, just as an example, there's a bit of a skip early on in both versons of the game, where you can avoid taking a door through some whole area by just leaping across a big waterfall. In Super Mario Bros. 2 anyone can do this, just needing a running start, but in the original release, there are no running starts. Either you can jump that gap by way of good airtime, or you can't. Depends which character you play as. Everyone has different stats, so being forced through the same full set of levels, there's a few little things like this where you have to alter your strategy to reflect the character you're running with at the time. That's cool. The whole mechanic of lifting things and throwing them, or riding on enemies' heads, or stacking blocks to reach higher areas or block fireballs, this is also just cool (and another thing SMB2 tweaked actually, play both and see for yourself).
I have seen literally one indie game that riffed on this idea, Curse of the Crescent Isle.
Umihara Kawase
If you've played it, you know. If you haven't, please just watch this speedrun:
youtube
Nothing has physics quite like this game. Nothing really has the same weird mildly distressing dream sort of tone to it either, or weird as hell branching level structure, or the weird system where the game has a time limit, but rather than giving a game over just makes it end after your current level. Other games have played with grappling hooks, but nothing I've ever seen has made me feel like this here is what they were going for.
Altered Beast
You know, I don't even particularly LIKE Altered Beast. I always thought it was a bit too short, a bit too simple, and still somehow it felt like you were just killing time until getting the power-ups that kinda make you invincible for the rest of the level.
youtube
There's... something here though. Somewhere with these bodies getting so bulky and beefy with no change to their heads and the voice samples and the sense of spectacle to it all, and yeah the dramatic gameplay shifts with the power-ups. I don't quite know what the secret sauce is, but if you find it, bottle it up, and slather it over something less shallow, you might really have something there.
Ecco the Dolphin
youtube
There is such a weird mix in the whole series of new age hippie save the whales vibes and genuinely disquieting horror just kinda seamlessly blended together. So much of it is the sound design, but the claustrophobia, the weird sense of speed, the constant pressure of drowning or suddenly being in the face of some huge nasty thing that'll basically one-shot you. The... unspoken but pronounced notion that this is set in a world where all of humanity died and are totally unremembered. There's a hell of a lot you could do with any of this, and the only game I can think of that comes close to hitting the same notes is Subnautica. Actually for that matter...
Subnautica
Tumblr media
I don't want to get into what's so great about Subnautica here, because the most common sentiment I hear from people who have played it is they wish there was some way they could play Subnautica for the first time, again. Just... yeah. If you haven't already, play through it all completely blind, and if you can think of how to recapture all of that, do it, and put it in my hands without a word.
X-Com Apocalypse
So... X-Com is a truly amazing game that to this day feels like a unique enough beast it also wouldn't be bad to try and learn from, but there's actually a good number of attempts at clones already, none quite seem willing to get into the same levels of complexity, and there's the whole remade Firaxis series with a simpler take that a lot of games are using as a template. But Apocalypse? The original third game? That tried to do a lot of new and different stuff. I don't know how much of it didn't work vs. how much is secretly amazing if you internalize how it works vs. what's sort of half-baked per se, but there's some real ambition with mixing the original's tactical intricacies and destructible terrain and such (which somehow works even better with the realtime mode this one has), with this living breathing city. You aren't intercepting UFOs on a featureless world map. You've got a whole separate combat engine on a persistent map where stray shots can damage roads and cause long-term problems because the supplies you order get shipped via trucks that travel on those roads. Tons of factions you ideally want support from but can go attack and rob if they feel like lost causes. A tech tree with really dramatic progress and early discoveries that are either double-edges swords or genuinely just terrible things to try to use.
Tumblr media
And then the endgame is really neat because instead of just one big final mission, you flip the whole script, and suddenly you're invading an alien city, picking targets to wreak havoc on and ultimately destroy, one by one. Incidentally this also did headcrabs before Half-Life so... I feel like it should be better known just for historical context.
Shadow of the Colossus
youtube
I know this is kind of a big technical ask, but why the hell were we not FLOODED with a whole generation of grandiose setpiece-y boss rush games after this first dropped? Perhaps more than anything else on here, someone really needs to get onto scratching this specific itch again, immediately.
I could totally keep going, but more importantly I'm sure you had some game that really left a mark on you that's been largely forgotten since, which I don't even know about, and you should really, if you're up to it, try and teach the world about it and how great it was by blending the old with something new of your own.
Just... draw from wider pools of inspiration, people.

Questions for the fanfic writers about Leon S. Kennedy's lack of background story: How do you deal with it?
I've been haunted by this problem for MONTHS and I needed to spit it out. I feel like Tumblr is a better place for long text and reasoned discussion, and most importantly: fanfic writers.
It's long and I sincerely look forward to your opinions. Even though I only draw Cleon, I didn't mention any ship in this post so I won't add ship-related tags here; if you're gonna list examples based on your ship, please respect each other.
So hear me out:
The best part and the worst part about Leon S. Kennedy is that HE DOESN'T HAVE A BACKGROUND STORY and a CONSISTENT characteristic development...and it's driving me insane.
The benefit of it is that I can shape his past into whoever I want to fit my stories. But it brings out a bigger problem: the development is solely depending on my understanding & knowledge of character design. He's pretty much a blank sheet of paper, except he's extremely famous, and I don't want to stray too far away from the canon info that we've got on him(and get "canceled" for OOC).
(I don't actually write stories into fics, but I DO write short scripts for my art when they are intended to be a series. I guess the prep work to start anything is the same: write it down in words, then expand the idea.)
I love AUs and I'm more interested in sci-fi/fantasy than modern/zombie-apocalypse kinda thing. But when I wanted to dig deep into their backgrounds, to start world-building, there's NOTHING for me. It's so frustrating.
For example, I'm currently working on a Monster Hunter AU based on the RE4R DLC Hero Outfit, which basically is the whole RE gang running around in the woods hunting supernatural creatures. (Not just CAPCOM's MH series but with the general mythical creatures, werewolves .etc)
And they have a Hunter's Guild, different tribes and clans, you know the drill. Since the setting was in a fantasy world, their surnames have caused me great pain from the start.
The easiest one is Redfield. It can be interpreted as "fertile land" or "battleground", and from these I immediately have quite a few visual ideas of how they'd look like, and what they'd do for a living. Chambers, Valentine, and Oliveira are "OK", but the surname Kennedy doesn't fit in ANYWHERE.
(Yes, I googled. It's Irish; but let's be honest, our first impression was a certain American political family.)
Then I read this article that shares a similar concern: Is Resident Evil 4’s Leon S. Kennedy Italian? An investigation
It pretty much sums up the most common FANDOM theories of Leon's background info. But all of them are still just, headcanons.
The more I try to dig in, the lack of this crucial element--a character's canon background story--is really blocking me to create things I enjoy. Even though I've been drawing him for almost 50 pieces of fan art, I still don't know what he's actually like. I can only imagine his personality by referencing other fictional characters/actors whom I think share a resemblance. (I have a soft spot for Keanu Reeves, Faramir from TLOR, and Sanji from One Piece. But that's another story for another time.)
Of course, I'm aware of the fact that, instead of spending this huge amount of time to rewrite a fictional character I don't own, I can create my own OCs and build everything from scratch. But that's not the point. I only started playing video games in 2019 when I bought a Nintendo Switch; and my first-ever, modern game experience was Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The whole game-wise fandom and RE series are pretty new to me. But I've been in fandoms of books/movies/TV shows for over a decade. It shocked me that Resident Evil, this world-popular series has almost 30 years of history but non of the main characters have a consistent background that follows through the in-game timeline. There're huge gaps between the games even if we add all of the movies in it. How did that work? How do you get to know them? How do you get attached enough to write your own fan story?
In conclusion, I don't think I like Leon S. Kennedy, cuz he remains a mystery. Instead, I just combine all of the good qualities of other characters I like, create my version of Leon Kennedy, and hopefully pray that when he reappears in a new RE work, I didn't do him wrong.

…y’all weren’t fucking kidding about this huh. Like I know why they (not all of them, most of them are chill) hate Will (because he’s gay) but still. They’re pretty bold over there huh.
“Some b tier side character” weird way to refer to the character that has the first episode of season one named after them because they’re that important to the literal start of the entire story (The Vanishing of Will Byers),
Tumblr media
one of the main focuses of season's one and two,
and a character who definitely has had more than eight lines in the last two seasons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, sorry. This isn't how you put a B-list side character in a shot. Center frame, close up shots, focusing on them speaking- and you definitely don't do close up shots of their emotional reactions to add depth to their character so you can tell the story you want to tell the best you can.
"I didn't know she was lying to you, Mike!" "Is it early, Michael?" "So you can swap spit with some stupid girl?" "Yeah. I guess I really did." "I'm not gonna fall in love." "A day free of girls!" "Funny how a lot of Will's lines in both season three and four have to do with Mike. How his character arc has to do with Mike.
"It's nothing. It-it's just this painting I've been working on."
"Why do you keep lying to Mike?" "You're not- you're friends with Angela and Stacy and you come to parties here?" "For mom's work- that's not what you implied. I just, I don't think Mike's gonna like that you're lying to him, and he doesn't deserve that, and when he finds out he's gonna be mad."
"No, listen to me. She's having problems here."
"She was lying to you, Mike! Straight to your face, ever since you got here and... I've been a total third wheel all day. It's been miserable. So, sorry if I wasn't... wasn't smiling." "What about us?" "You're mad that I didn't talk to you? Seems like you made it super clear that you're not interested in anything I have to say." "You called maybe a couple of times. It's been a year, Mike. Meanwhile, El has, like, a book of letters from you." "And us?"
"Sometimes, I think it's just scary to open up like that. To day how you really feel, especially to people you care about the most because what if- what if they don't like the truth?"
"Well, once we save her, El, we should stop on the way back. El could make us super rich and we'd never have to work. We could just play D&D and Nintendo for the rest of our lives."
Will hasn't been involved in the supernatural plot for the past two seasons. That doesn't mean he hasn't been involved in an equally important part of this story. Side characters don't get relationship conflict that spans over multiple seasons that ties into the larger themes of the story.
"It's not my fault you don't like girls!" "I mean, what did you think, really? That we were never gonna get girlfriends? We were just gonna sit in my basement all day and play games for the rest of our lives?"
As for how Mike views Will Byers, that has always been very clear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that's just season two and season four (I don't have season one and three on hand).
Tumblr media
Yep. This is him. Will Byers. The B-tier side character who Mike Wheeler has never looked at once in his life, nevermind cared about, and who is barely even going to be in season five!
Tumblr media
Definitely not important at all! To the plot OR to Mike! Funny how Mike has more scenes with Will than with El, "Who he actually loves," though. Weird. And definitely not significant at all. Guess the writers just didn't know what to do with Mike while El was away growing as a character so they just stuck him with Will. And really, they didn't know what to do with him in the last shot either! Just stuck him in the middle for some reason. And next to Will!
It's definitely not because Mike and Will are important characters, to both each other, the core themes of the show (forced conformity, abuse, love), and to the plot! Nope!
It was just a mistake. Damn. They really fucked up that last shot bad then. Putting Mike AND Will together in the center of the shot which, well, normally would be intentional in order to emphasis their importance to the story and their relationship but this is Stranger Things! We all know that no ones putting any thought into any detail of this show. Really, it was just a simple mistake. The blocking, the multiple angles emphasizing it, having this as the final shot of the season. None of it matters.
Least of all, Mike and Will.
Just another string of errors attached to these two.

karkat or Dave playing animal crossing for the first time and getting really into it please!!!!
I interpreted this as davekat as it gave me more room to work with since I could have dialogue. It was a bit hard to expand on the prompt since there's no conflict but I did my best! I hope I made it cute enough to be interesting
“Okay, so how does this thing work?” Karkat asks as if they haven't had a Nintendo Switch for a whole year now.
Dave just shakes his head and gets up from the couch, once again showing him how to set it up. “How are you this bad with electronics?”
“Listen, last time I tried to do something more complicated than open a Google Chrome window I got a computer virus so bad it killed my crab dad. I think I'm allowed to just give up and accept that I shouldn't touch this shit.”
“Maybe you're right,” Dave says with a bit of a smile. “Okay, I got it hooked up. Ready?” He asks as he sits back down on the couch.
Karkat follows and sits next to him, grabbing his pair of controllers. “Ready!”
“Okay, so, Jade said this isn't immediately two player so I figured we'll take turns setting up our characters and stuff and then play it together?”
Karkat nods in agreement, so Dave starts up his profile first and opens up Animal Crossing for the first time. “This game better be worth the $50 plus tax or I'm making Jade pay us back.”
Karkat laughs a bit and playfully slaps Dave's arm, a gesture that Dave has gotten used to over the years. No more flinching now that he knows it's a safe affection. “Shut up, I'm sure it'll be fine. Besides, it's not like we can't afford it.”
Dave just shrugs and goes quiet as the game continues. He mumbles the dialogue and text aloud so that he's not skipping too fast or too slow for Karkat. Karkat gives a chuckle, which causes Dave to stop and look at him. “what?”
“Oh, I just like the little voices,” he says with another chuckle. Dave cracks a small smile and nods in agreement before continuing.
“pick your style…oh yes. The two genders; short hair or ponytail,” Dave chuckles.
“Hey they say style!” Karkat chuckles. “which will you choose?”
Dave lingers for a moment before just picking the short hair, non-pony tail one with a shrug and continues on. They debate on which island to pick before finally settling on the one with the River cutting the island straight through into 3 sections, and finally moving on.
“If you could only bring one thing…huh. What do you think, babe?” Dave asks.
Karkat thinks for a moment, “well, presumably there'd be something edible on the island. I'd say a lamp? Though I'd prefer aflashlight.”
“That makes sense but there'd be no electricity. Once the battery dies you're screwed if you can't make a fire.”
“You'd have to make a fire anyway to cook a lot of the food you'd be eating.”
“Ah but if you bring food you can buy yourself time until you can make weapons and figure out what's edible or not.”
“See, this is why I always say a survival guide based on the biome and general geographical location of the island.” *karkat says with a huff,* “why isn't that an option??”
Dave rolls his eyes and picks lamp, a small smile on his face, “because they don't have your brain, I guess.”
They move on and finally arrive on the island. Their first two villagers are Canberra and Raold. They rush through Tom Nook's dialogue a bit, Dave reading it out loud quickly. They're bored at first, too much exposition for their taste. Though, Karkat isn't complaining, and Dave knows that this is just how games work sometimes. It probably means there's very little non-skippable dialogue for the rest of the game.
“Finally.” Dave says as they are released into the wild to explore.”okay, we've gotta put up our tent. Where are we putting this bad boy, babe?”
“Uhhh probably pretty close to the plaza right? I'm sure we'll be doing a lot of walking back and forth.”
“Agreed. I'm sure there's a way to move it in the future.” Dave sets the tent right next to the plaza. They go back and Dave finishes the beginning missions while Karkat watches. Eventually, Karkat's Head is in Dave's lap, just quietly watching as Dave gets their island ready. It takes a bit but eventually Dave stops and looks down,* “Okay, ready to join?”
Karkat nods and sits up. They switch profiles so that Karkat can get his character ready.
“Okay, so should I just keep going or do we wanna switch back to your profile?” Karkat asks once his character is ready and his tent is placed.
Dave shrugs, “Nah. Go ahead and do some…uh….collecting? I was about to say mining,” he chuckled, “this isn't minecraft. Whatevering. I'll watch you for a while.
Karkat nods and just continues. Eventually Dave's head is on Karkat's lap, watching Karkat play. This continues for a couple of hours actually. Before long, almost everything that can be set up in just a day with no time travel is already set up. They switch profiles so that Dave can finish up some stuff that only he had permission to do (much to Karkat’s snarky disapproval).
“I'm not sure what else to do for right now." Dave says after about another hour of playing with Karkat's Head in his lap. His hand goes down to pet through Karkat's hair a little. "I feel like we should wait for all this stuff to open up y'know? Like the museum and stuff.”
Karkat nods, “I mean we could grind a bit and get a bunch of…what was it, bells? But I don't want to sell all the resources and find out we actually needed them. Oh, we could bug the villagers, though.
Dave smiles a bit and nods, going to talk to Raold first and then Canberra. They both smile.
“aw the villagers are kind of cute. Okay, okay, I see what Jade meant,” Karkat admits. “I really like this game. It's cozy and really relaxing.”
Dave nods in agreement, “this is fun. We should play tomorrow too.”

>CONTENT LOADING....
hi hi hello! my name is strawberry (or strawb)! (i also use the name roz sometimes!) im queer, trans, 19, and neurodivergent, and this where i scream about robots and gay little nintendo characters. i use he/him, it/its, ze/zem/zeir/zemself, and co/code/codes/codeself pronouns! itd be so so sooo cool if you could please interchange these. thanks!
i dont know what my gender is and honestly i dont care (and neither should u)! just dont call me 'she' please! if i had to label it id say my gender is whatever the hell nintendo was doing with all those see-through consoles in the 2000s. look at these sexy sexy boys
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
my art tag is #strawberryscribbles, my tag for cool art made by friends or made for me is #talented ppl tag, and thats about all i consistently tag anymore (aside from content warnings. if you need something content warned, lmk!). my art blog is @strawb-artfolder and my oc blog is @cultivatingyourfuture (though that project is on an indefinite hiatus due to signifigant rewrites, lol). im not great at art but i like growing and improving and showing you all that process, so im going to keep posting it anyhow! cringe culture is dead and its decomposing slowly in my backyard.
heres some things about me!!
my main interests are computers, old electronics, adventure time, portal 2, and nintendo (particularly mario, splatoon, and the legend of zelda!). i also reblog half life, tf2, and mlp stuff from time to time. i am, in fact, critical of all of my media interests. fuck nintendos business practices and fuck the way they fetishize arabic cultures 👎👎👎
send me asks!!!! about whatever!!!! it makes my day every time!!!!!
im not a linked universe fan or a linkverse fan in general. i might engage with that content because i like the designs and want to support artists but dont ask me about it i dont go there lmao (bonus links fucks hard though i will say that)
i dont tag spoilers. sorry! youre free to unfollow or block me at any time :)
wanna know what music ive been listening to? heres my main playlist! maybe youll find something new!!! (and if you shoot me an ask saying u found a new song u like bc of me.... tell me! itll make my day!)
ive had people ask me a couple of times, so let me go ahead and say-- i like to refer to characters i have specific pronoun headcanons for WITH those pronouns! i usually garner confusion about this when i talk about oot zelda (he/she), botw link (she/he/they), and oot link (she/her). theres not really a reason, i just like to! (when i talk to people about their specific interpretations, i use whatever hcs theyve assigned them instead). if you wanna know how i hc any other characters, 🔫 me an ask!
im not going to sift through every blog that interacts with me or apply widely misused terminology to give an idea of what i do or dont want in my circle. im just going to say these things outright. i believe in radical queer acceptance (yes, even for whatever "weird" identity youre about to pull out as a gotcha), all transgender people and asexuals and aromantics and xenogenders and neopronouns are all valid, otherkin/therians are cool as hell, objectums are my friends, i want all pedophiles to die by my hand, youre weird as shit if you romanticize incest or pedophilia in any context, and i believe in reclaiming words like queer, fag, dyke, and tranny, which i will not content warn for. ok cool 👍
im a stupid broke college student and i can barely afford to feed myself most days so if you wanna help out heres my CA.

heyo! seeing n and the way you drawn him has gotten me really curious to know more! What game(s) is him in? how can I learn more?
Ahh, I'm so happy I could get someone interested in him through my work. I'm flattered, thank you. I'll try my best to help.
As for appearances:
N appears in various media, but the most important ones are the games, Pokémon Black and White for the Nintendo DS (his debut) and the sequels to those games Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 on the same game system. He also appears on the main anime in the Unova centered seasons and In animated shorts such as Pokemon Generations and Evolutions, where you get to see game scenes animated and have some lore expanded upon.
As for Manga, he is in Pocket Monster Special (the "main" Pokemon manga), Heroes of thunder and fire (CoroCoro comics), and possibly some other CoroCoro comics works based on Unova which seem to be lost media, and as such, there's possibilities of N being featured in those.
And quite recently (all things considered), he has been added to Pokémon Masters EX, a gacha game which allows you to "obtain" N and fight with him in teams and talk to him.
To learn more about him:
Playing the games would be the first step ideally, so you can experience the base story unfold before your eyes. From that point onward, I think watching the animated shorts would be next since you cannot be spoiled :) If you don't have the time, maybe some video essays on YouTube or a playthrough could do the trick but you'll perhaps be relying on someone else's understanding of the story, and as such, miss important details not just pertaining to N but the game in general. If you stay keen you'll be fine :)
I would then read the pocket special manga and perhaps give Masters a try, since those expand on his character quite nicely and I find them to be quite good characterizations of him if combined with the prior knowledge obtained during the DS games playthrough. Although masters has more issues than I'd like, but that's besides the point.
And my best advice:
Once you're done with the games, go to the tags and follow a bunch of N enthusiasts. People often discuss his character, quite in depth and even point out details that you may have missed (I used to do this a lot on my deleted insta, sometimes I still do it on my Twitter @kooru_03).
Going into Bulbapedia and reading through trivia will lead you to other sources that hold valuable information, such as interview, concept art, etc etc....
My additional comments:
The BW games are of the best the franchise can offer and as such, the discussion is rich. I'd advice to not focus to much on just him and look at his close bonds and the game in general, as you may uncover more about him that way. No one lives in a vacuum after all. The game is absurdly deep when you start zooming in and out. Like, ABSURDLY so. In a good way, of course.
Sorry for the intimidating length, but I hope this was a useful guide. I wrote this off the top of my head so If anyone else has anything they'd like to add, I'd appreciate that.

same anon as before. This time, I'm curious about your thoughts on Rauru having descendants in order to Zelda having his and Sonia's powers. Do you think Rauru's a good father? How do you think his child/children would look like? ☕
Hello again anon! I’ve made very few decisions about this matter given the absolute dearth of information we’re given (does Nintendo realize that to have descendants, you need to have children before you die of backstory?). There must be at least one child, unmentioned anywhere in the memories; given what other games say about how we get Zeldas, probably a daughter. Because there is absolutely no mention made of any children, I tend to assume there’s just the one. And I’ve decided that she’s pretty much infant age. I make a brief mention of her in “A Certain Nobility of Character,” but I’ll be honest, that mention was really an obligatory “I know that Rauru has a child who should factor into his life somehow, even if Nintendo doesn’t.”
Rauru strikes me as the type to be a very doting father. From the stone tablets we know that he occasionally snuck away from official business to hunt; I think he would also be the type to sneak away from official business to go play with his daughter, if he were to be around when she made it to toddlerhood. He is a good father, I think, but also he is a king and has a king’s responsibilities, so he’s probably not able to spend as much time with her as he’d like. Even so, I think he generally makes time to spend with her each day. He’s a bit awed by her and her very existence, like wow!! That’s a whole new little person!! I have a responsibility to build a happy world for her!!
As for what she looks like—I have this headcanon that when a Zonai has a child with a non-Zonai, that child will typically be born without their first eye (how the Zonai refer to what we would call their third eye). This first eye is so crucial to their cultural identity that Zonai tend to think of those children as belonging more to the other parent’s species than their own, even if that child’s appearance otherwise leans heavily towards Zonai features. This is the case with Rauru and Sonia’s daughter: no first eye, but darker, grayer skin than Sonia’s; very fine fur especially on her ears, jawline, and torso; ears longer than Sonia’s (whose ears already already a great deal longer than Zelda’s) and very, very expressive. She read as so Zonai to Sonia’s Hylian eyes that she was confused by Rauru’s initial habit (and Mineru’s as well) of referring to her as Hylian instead of half-Hylian, half-Zonai. Rauru and Mineru have since come around to Sonia’s way of thought, but it was initially a point of strange, uncomfortable tension.
(I feel like I should say something about the Ancient Hero’s Aspect here. Well, “Something.” You cannot get me on the record saying that I am absolutely certain that the Ancient Hero is a Zonai-Hylian (or Zonai-Gerudo????) hybrid. Why do they have a tail. The Zonai we see do not have tails. For completing all the BOTW shrines you receive your Green Clothes; for completing all the TOTK shrines you receive One Billion Questions Which The Devs Will Not Be Answering. Thanks. I feel more equipped to say for sure that “it’s interesting that Zonai culture (reflected in the AH wearing what is essentially the Zonaite Set) is preserved, or at least kept familiar enough to be alluded to, until the time of ten thousand years before BOTW, through presumably several rounds of Calamity Ganon” than to say anything definitive about what species or mix of species the Ancient Hero is. Why the tail. Why…)
By the way, the first chapter of skittykitty’s AU The Price of Peace goes into Rauru’s thoughts on his daughter and how thoughts of her inform his actions in a way I really enjoyed. You should check it out!
