It might still be too early for this kind of question, but what have been your favorite video games you've played in 2022? :3c
Given what the release schedule over the next three months looks like, yeah, it's probably jumping the gun, but what the hell. I'm going to arbitrarily restrict my consideration to games actually published in 2022, or else we'd be here all week, though.
(I make no apologies for the high concentration of sequels on this list. I know what I like!)
Amber City is a spiritual sequel to 2017's Flood of Light, and its gameplay is in much the same vein, being an atmospheric walking sim with light point-and-click puzzle elements. If you enjoyed the idea of The Witness but wish the puzzles didn't hate you personally, this might not be a bad one to check out.
Blossom Tales II: The Minotaur Prince isn't going to break any new ground for those who’ve played its predecessor, though it's somewhat more adventurous in its dungeon design; if you enjoy casual 2D Zelda-likes, you'll probably enjoy this. Fans of 1980s fantasy media may also get a kick out of its pop culture pastiche elements – let’s just say the narrator is definitely taking advantage of the fact that his grandkids have never seen Labyrinth!
COGEN: Sword of Rewind is a Mega Man Zero style hack-and-slash platformer that does one of the first interesting things I've seen in years with the time manipulation formula, essentially merging your "mess with time" gauge with your health bar. The damage-boost routing in the speedrun is something you need to see to believe.
Curse Crackers: For Whom the Belle Toils is a retro platformer from the makers of 2020's Zelda-like dating sim Prodigal. Comparisons to Celeste are, perhaps, unwarranted, as the mechanics are very different, but I felt something familiar in the role of momentum in its flow of play. Visually, it's incredibly pink, which is something I always appreciate in a game.
Dungeons of Dreadrock is a short logic puzzler that one could be forgiven for mistaking for an old-school roguelike at first glance. Each level is a set-piece that borrows from the conventions of the grid-based roguelike genre to create situations where only one sequence of actions leads to survival, and challenges the player to find it..
FAR: Changing Tides swaps Lone Sails' landship for, well, an actual ship. The engineering sim gameplay remains largely unchanged in spite of that. Some of its elaborations on the previous game's formula don't work as well as they might have, being challenging more due to the limitations of the physics engine than anything else, but the frustration factor wasn't high enough to ruin my fun.
A Game with a Kitty 1 & Darkside Adventures is me flagrantly breaking my own rules, since everything in this anthology actually came out in 2005–2008 – it's just the anthology itself that's a 2022 release; I'm mostly throwing it in because this list was otherwise light on free-to-play titles. It all held up remarkably well on a replay earlier this year, though.
Gunborg: Dark Matters is a run-and-gun precision platformer that seems to have flown entirely under the radar, having just 11 reviews on Steam at the time of this posting. I'm not sure why – I mean, it's got a great soundtrack, and you play as a woman with a sword the size of a surfboard. What else do you want?
Jack Move is a JRPG-style title that blends self-consciously silly 1980s cyberpunk with contemporary anime aesthetics. I have to confess that I'm cheating a bit by including this one, as it's been out for all of three days at the time of this posting, and is the only game on this list I haven't played; I have, however, followed its development for some time, and I've had a lot of fun with the various demos the dev team has put out over the years, so I'm confident in plugging it here.
Recursive Ruin takes a page from 2019's Manifold Garden and basically asks "what if it was super fucked up?" The recursion here is fractal rather than directional, with progress "inward" eventually leading right back where you started. The story is naturally pretentious as hell; whether that's a criticism is a matter of taste.
RUN: The World In-Between wears it Celeste influence on its sleeve, but really takes more from classic endless runners like Canabalt. The "procedural generation" is just the same dozen or so puzzles for each zone being strung together in various orders, and the story is thinner than the trailer makes it look, but if you're a fan of the "running from left to right set to awesome music" genre, you could do a lot worse.
Submerged: Hidden Depths picks up where 2015's Submerged left off. The gameplay is substantially similar, though with a heavier focus on exploration puzzles and fewer linear set-pieces. Even so, it's not exactly what I'd call challenging – it's better approached as a pretty walking sim with light parkour-puzzler elements.
System Purge is about as basic as it gets for a precision platformer. No fancy moves here: you run; you jump; you get your face melted off by a laser. There's actually quite a bit of blood and gore, which is something I rarely have the stomach for, but the game is short enough that the lurid bits don't overstay their welcome. Fair warning!
Taiji is... well, remember when I said Amber City is a good one to check out if you like the idea of the Witness but wish the puzzles didn't hate you? This is one to check out if you do enjoy it when the puzzles hate you. There's a lot here that will be familiar to fans of the latter, though the puzzles are somewhat more varied owing to the fact that colouring grids is a more flexible game mechanic than drawing lines.
Vain Ascendance is a a roguelite precision platformer whose art style and mechanics put me strongly in mind of 2018's Overclocked, though the dev teams are unrelated. When I've plugged this game in the past I've been teased that my obsession with games about red haired women who can air dash is showing, but this I must protest: her hair is purple.
As for unreleased games available in demo or early access versions that I've tried out in 2022, I'll keep it brief, since these aren't proper recs, but you might have a look at any of Dormiveglia, Garbage Girl Louise, Gigasword, Keylocker, Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara, Little Witch in the Woods, Rebel Transmute, Rose & Locket, Ruin Valley, Shards of Gravity, Star Hearts: Launch Point, Undergrave, Venus Looks for Jupiter, Vermillion Descent or War Girl.

What’s your favorite Sims death?
None (hate it when it happens); the most frequent one in my gameplays is the old age one.
Alpha CC or Maxis Match? A mix between the two, it depends how well the CC matches the game's art style.
Do you cheat your sims weight? Not really; what I cheat is how muscular my female sims are as I play a lot the Acrobat career in TS3 Showtime and my girls bulk up too fast and too much.
Do you move objects? Ever since I learned about this particular (and very useful) cheat, yes.
Favorite Mod? Most of the Nraas mods, all of @thesweetsimmer111 fabulous baby/toddler mods and also small ones to correct some stuff in the game (like No Mascot Camera Zoom, No Autonomous Gaming, Autonomous Wash Hands After Toilet Use, Zoom-In CaS Camera, etc)
First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack? World Adventures.
Do you pronounce live mode like aLIVE or LIVing? aLIVE
Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? A lot of them, for different reasons.
Selena Noble - a ballerina (now an acrobat) with no moral compass. But I think she's cute so she's my muse for the balletcore collection.
Lin Young - my fearless adventurer.
Riley Preston - my talented artist.
Hope London - my dedicated gardener.

Have you made a simself? The first sim I ever made was a simself. It did not go well.
Which is your favorite EA hair color? None; since it's TS3 I mix them according to my characters.
Favorite EA hair? Not really using the EA hairs usually, but I'd choose the Playful Updo from Late Night.
Favorite life stage? I play a lot the YA & A life stages, but also enjoy all the other ones.
Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? I'm in for everything the game has to offer: gameplay, building, CAW, CC creation.
Are you a CC creator? Yup.
Do you have any Simblr friends or a Sim Squad? I wouldn't say a squad, but I do have people here that I admire and like to interact with.
Do you have any sims merch? Nope.
Do you have a YouTube for sims? Yes (as I'm an ex-machinima creator), but these days I'm only using it when I have animations to share.
How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing? In every possible way. I put a lot more thought into my builds (and worlds), my sims no longer look like aliens (I used to make them have these big anime eyes) and my gameplays are more wish-based than ever.
Who’s your favorite CC creator? So many of them since I'm a big CC hoarder. As Daniel said, everyone who brings something to this game is a champion and deserves accolades.
But to mention only a few, I'd say @simtanico for their high quality items, @enable--llamas for the awesome furniture, ArtVitalex & Onyxium over at TSR who both still create furniture for TS3, Bill-Sims also at TSR, @sim-songs here on Tumblr for their conversions, @technicallyswagpizza for their amazing plants (and tutorials that taught me a lot), @yorithesims and @bmit04 for poses; @maryjanesims3 & @agnelid for hair default replacements, and so many more. Sorry, I can't remember everyone right now.
How long have you had Simblr? Since January 2019.
How do you edit your pictures? For more aesthetic pics I use Reshade and PS (although I don't remember ever posting these types of pics), but I usually just slightly adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation and exposure in PS as I love the TS3's default art style (I'm just spicing it up a little).
What expansion/ gamepack is your favorite? Kinda all of the expansion packs?! Mainly Seasons, World Adventures, Late Night, Island Paradise, Generations. Also love all the functional store content and worlds.

mini bachelor challenge - travel with terry~
hi friends! :) so, i wanted to play the globetrotter challenge with my sim terry, but i didn’t want to do it alone. after many failed attempts at making him a partner, though, i thought why not do a little bachelor challenge first?

Kameron Pierson
I'm not sure I've ever done one of these with my favorite guy. Let's do it!
The last post made me realize a lot of you weren't around in the first half of the story, so here are some facts about Kameron's SimTube career. He was young and scrappy when he defeated The Mother and felt like he deserved more recognition and notoriety than he received. (translated he had the world-famous celebrity aspiration lol) He also had bigger aspirations for himself and wanted to earn more money, so he began his SimTube channel. It wasn't much in the beginning, as one could imagine. He wasn't consistent and was all over the place with the content. It wasn't until Brytani left him with Melany that his brand began to take shape. Being a single dad was HARD on top of his feelings about Brytani being a deadbeat. He also didn't have many friends, so he shared his feelings online. He was real and relatable, and people liked that. This is where his fame really came from. He even received a Starlight Accolade award for best video. If I had to guess which one, I'd say it was the one people have dubbed "Fatherhood Manifesto." It was the first time he brought Melany on camera. He held her and expressed how much he loved her and what kind of father he wanted to be for her. To this day it's still his most popular and shared video. Though he didn't make a habit of putting her on camera, his viewers basically watched her grow up. They know her. So a good portion of Melany's fans don't actually care about her music but like her because she's Kameron's daughter and are invested in her life.
Kameron's favorite color is green.
His grandmother, the woman who raised him, has long since been dead but he still refuses to go back to his old neighborhood. He grew up near where Nick's parents live. He's worked very hard to get past all the trauma and would rather not trigger anything. Things that come up as a parent trigger him enough.
As you could probably guess, Kameron is an introvert. He likes his circle small and enjoys the company of very few. When in public, he can be very charismatic but prefers life off camera. He's not necessarily a homebody, but he paid a lot of money for his residences and enjoys them quite a bit lol.
His social media handles are all KamIAm. When he was young and dumb he thought it was cool. But now that he's a grown professional and does business with that name he wishes he could change it. Melany changed hers, but he's had his accounts way longer and doesn't want to go through the hassle. (translated I'm old don't got time for all that)

This is not ordered by how much I'm into them, they're just in whatever order came to mind :) I will caution that I don't tend to choose favorite characters, I'm more of an OC maker. Feeling chatty, so I'm putting the actual list under a cut. You're welcome.
1. FFXIV : Pretty self-explanatory for the xiv sideblog. Since I'm not as in to the MSQ, I don't think I actually have a favorite character (which I know is illegal, I'm sorry :<). I really love seeing what the community does with the characters, though!
2. Halo : The storyline went to hell long ago, but I do still adore the original trilogy and constantly mine it for gpose captions. It was basically what I lived off of in high school. If I had a tumblr back then, I'd have been insufferable. Favorite character is easily Rtas 'Vadum.
3. WoW : Kind of. Asterisk. I really only know Classic, and even then, I'm way more Horde than I am Alliance. I have approximate knowledge of many things. No favorite there either - I'm all about the world and making OCs. We have two concurrent WoW tabletop games running at the moment, so this is where most of my headspace is. Their shared timeline is different from the canon, so I'm not really in the fandom per se.
4. Mass Effect : Alien dating sim, my beloved. I even enjoyed Andromeda (jump jets implemented perfectly, fun combat, the Jardaan reminded me of Forerunners). If you ask me to choose a favorite, I'll cry. How is a mother supposed to choose between her two sons (Legion and Grunt)? Drack also gets an honorary mention for his 100s of low res pictures of guns email.
5. Elder Scrolls : Mostly Skyrim, some Oblivion. I know, I'm one of those fans. Anyway, I've probably played over 1k hours of Skyrim by this point and yet. And yet! I don't have a favorite. The entirety of the Companions? I just wish that the faction questlines in Skyrim weren't "you killed 3 wolves and have been here a week. You lead us all now", but it does give me good scaffolding which. As an OC fiend. Grabby hands.
6. The World Ends With You : This game made me good at calculus in high school. My favorite character from here is Sho Minamimoto, and I was a completely normal teenager who dealt with that by doing calculus problems for fun. Turns out, the trick to get good at math is repetition.
7. Pokémon : Probably my earliest fandom. Still play the games now and again, just got Legends Arceus (super late, I know), and that's been a lot of fun. My favorite character from the franchise is Sinnoh's Rock type leader, Roark. I had a long-running sideblog dedicated to the Sinnoh region because gen IV is my favorite in general! It's inactive at the moment.
8. Guild Wars : 2, to be more precise. I started playing about a month after release, and since it's f2p, I still drop in from time to time. Like every MMO, I have no favorites. I really love playing Sylvari, though! (The glow!! The nightmare!! The [[Heart of Thorns spoiler!!]] They're just so neat)
9. Star Trek : we're now getting into "shows I watched and didn't hate" because I'm definitely not in the 'fandom' for Trek. We've been going through the old series as a way to wind down before bed, starting with TNG. We're on Enterprise now, and I'm sad that it got canceled. Still will probably have a better ending than Voyager. I don't have a favorite, but I can tell you that the writers' collective favorite must be either Seven of Nine or Data.
10. Uh. Various anime? I can't say I've recently loved any particular series to the point of fandom, but as a whole, I've been a weeb since I was in middle school. "Recent" series that I've enjoyed have included Mob Psycho and Love is War. Coincidentally, they both saved the most banger opening for their third season.
We had to stretch a little bit, but we made it to ten! Proud of this community (this community is my brain desperately trying to remember 10 things I like)

Favorite sims death?
I've only ever seen drowning, fire, and old age in my game (so boring, I know) but I think I have to go with Murphy Bed for sheer "unlikely but plausible" horror.
Alpha CC or Maxis Match?
Maxis Match with a little soupçon of semi-realism, particularly with hair. I just love that classic Pooklet shine.
Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?
No way -- the Townie Body Diversity Project is one of my favorite mods for a reason! We need more fat sims! If I could have one no-questions-asked Sims 2 wish granted, it would be more diverse bodytypes for all existing meshes (dream on, I know).
Do you use move objects?
Who doesn't? I basically only have it off to place diagonal doors and windows.
Favorite mod?
This is such a hard question because there are /hundreds/ of tiny QOL mods that add up into such incredible gameplay. But I'm going to go with either the Community Time Project or Skilling on Community Lots! The latter especially makes so many community lots... actually worth it. I don't think I could play without it. Why bother otherwise?
First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?
I think I actually got Nightlife before University and I loved it. Everyone was a vampire and had the most expensive car. Life was simple and good.
Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing?
Live as in "we're going live!" The other way feels so bizarre in my mouth.
Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?
I will always have a soft spot for an alien sim named Laika from many, many neighborhoods ago. She was my icon for a long time!
Have you made a simself?
Only when I was younger! I like The Sims (and most media, tbh) to be as indulgent and escapist from my own life as possible. Like, what am I doing there?? I have the same reaction to self-insert fanfiction too. What is my purpose in this narrative? No thanks.
What sims traits do you give yourself?
For TS2: Lazy, Playful, Pleasure Aspiration.
For TS3: Vegetarian, Absent-Minded, Good Sense of Humor, Neurotic, Over-Emotional 🥲
Which is your favorite EA hair color?
I assume this is a question tailored to one of the other games, lol. As a kid I always loved shortslick in red because it was a slightly different shade than the other red hairstyles in the game, and it felt like the closest I could get to a new hair color without CC (which I didn't know how to download).
Favorite EA hair?
I really love the paperboycap hairstyle that came with Apartment Life! I wish there were pookleted defaults of it that just retextured the hair and kept the hat. Sometimes I use it anyway even though it doesn't match the rest of the hair in my game. It's cute!
Favorite life stage?
I actually really, really love the Child life state! There is so much that children can do (painting! gardening! cooking!) and it feels like after a toddler life state that doesn't have much variety between sims, you finally get to get a feel for what kind of person they're going to be. Plus, so many cute social interactions between other children and their parents. I'm always sad to see them grow into teens :(
Are you a builder or are you in it for the game play?
Both! I'm honestly not a very good builder and often get impatient because I just want to play and take pictures. But then if the world doesn't feel "real" or visually appealing enough, I get frustrated because the gameplay isn't as satisfying. I constantly have to force myself to stop and focus on building so I don't overshoot on the playing in a way that feels dissatisfying. Fun hobby.
Are you a CC creator?
No, but I have a lot of practice downloading things :)
Do you have any simblr friends/a sims squad?
I've never been in the Sims community consistently enough for that, but there are plenty of names that give me the happy little "ah, you! 🥰" thought bubble over my head for when I see them on my dashboard!

I have a pair of plumbob earrings! They're understated enough that I feel like I can get away with wearing them to work. Someone actually correctly ID'd them once, too!

How has your “sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?
Wow, so much. If this is about visuals, I didn't really have a cohesive style until I stumbled upon GOS in 2007 or so. The grungy look and my emo phase were like a wine & cheese pairing for the ages. When I got back into the Sims again in college in 2012, I'd shifted to a brighter style bordering on cartoonish (hello snapdragoned psd!). I think now I'm a sitting somewhere a little more muted, but hopefully still fun to look at 😬
If this question is geared more towards play style, I'm playing in rounds for the first time in... ever. I used to just wander into households and play until I got bored, or focus only on one family. What a difference it makes! I don't think I've ever been so hooked/consistently eager to play.

How do you edit your pictures?
I should have read ahead before I mentioned the PSD, lol. I use Greenshot to take screenshots, then manually resize them in an old, super legal copy of Photoshop. Then I run a batch Photoshop action (sharpening, brightening, making colors more vivid) on them. Done and dusted.
What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?
I guess I'll use this section for my dream mod. I would love more crafting benches/craftable items and more hobby options for the Freetime hobbies! Or a new Supernatural life state.

i agree :( each of them have their own reasons for not wanting to go, but the important thing to me is that elaine made it known that it’s important to her, and still no one is going with her. we know jada was thinking about going to the dance, but she ultimately chickened out of asking alisa and now she’s way too pissed off to go. asa just wants to be depressed in peace 😭 so i understand them, but that doesn’t mean they’re being particularly good friends right now

i honestly still edit motion the same way (i actually made a tutorial for it here) but i’m a lot more sparing with it, because most of the time it’s unnecessary to show motion when you can show movement instead. even if the scene is just two characters sitting down and talking, i try to find a way to force them to move, stand up, do something with their hands, etc. in those cases, i don’t need motion blur, i just need to be careful with my camera angles! and omg my editing has changed soooo much, i wouldn’t even know where to start listing the changes. when i first started on simblr, i would literally take a yellow brush and dab it on the corners of each picture and gaussian blur it to create “light leaks” fjskdjs they looked like shit 😭 i’ve hit all the phases: way too yellow and overexposed, way too dark and desaturated. i used to have sooo much clipping and i had no idea how to fix it the way i do now. but it’s all a learning curve! i can make fun of my old editing decisions, but i don’t regret anything because those decisions are the only reason i know the things i know now :’)

alpha all the way! i like to incorporate some maxis-match, but i just can't really vibe with the plastic-y aesthetic of ts4.

sims 3 showtime! i got it before getting the base game because i didn't know you needed the base game. i remember watching quxxn and falling in love with it. still my fave expansion (yes i know it's shit)

i simply don't <3. i mentally called it play mode and never realised this debate was even a thing lmao. but i'd say it like LIVing if i gave a fuck.

tbh i've never felt connected to any sim i've made. i made a legacy save in ts3 that got lost to corruption and just struggled to form connections to my sims ever since (there's something to unpack there). premades are safe because i know the game won't swallow them whole i guess.

nope! i just don't think it'd fit. my ex-gf used to make me in the sims 4 and pose us together! she's probably drowning me in pools now though.

i'd say i care less about a sim being pretty. sims 3 sims were hideous, and i'd always edit them. but, with ts2, i kinda love how unhinged sims can look. so, even with strangetown, i wanted the sims to have unique features (circe's asymmetrical grin!). i love the genetics system.

clip studio paint! i just add scanlines and a vignette. my reshade does the heavy lifting tbh. though, i'm trying to get pretty screenshots without it rn; my graphics driver is acting up and reshade isn't working for me.

in terms of existing packs? none. i like all the stuff i have now.

What’s something you learned this year?
All the advantages of foot massages! And that keeping an 'Affirmation Board' on notion is an extreme help. I use gallery view and I put gifs and positive quotes from my favourite media and characters to look at when I'm having a bad day. I also put techniques for coping that include pressure points, breathing techniques and tips for dealing with my sensory issues, sometimes paired with a gif of a scene that reminds me of it. Wish I'd started on it years ago but it's better late!
Favorite place you visited this year?
Just the town nearest mine. It's my favourite town!
What was the most impactful life lesson you learned?
Copy & Pasted from my Affirmation Board: "There will never not be something wrong that upsets you. Perfection is a myth. this is super boring but i love death by electrocution bc once in high school i played this super successful family, super functional, great kids, wonderful parents, and the mom died while trying to fix a dishwasher and it DEVASTATED me. no sims death has affected me that much it was insane.

i would say maxis match but c'mon i think most people like at least a little alpha texture sometimes.

ts3 will always have a special place in my heart, but it's the sims medieval!! i've always loved anything medieval themed and it's one of the few quest-based games i love playing bc you can also just hang out in this kingdom and have fun. playing as a physician is my favorite.

nah i actually don't own a lot of merch for anything. i like fan-made stuff a lot more, usually.

it honestly hasn't changed all that much. every once in a while i get super attached to a legacy and i still love townies and preexisting characters. i guess my interest in storytelling has matured a bit, but that's still only like a year old interest.

Page 76 (part 2)
I want to get off a stressful day of and work and have you come over with dinner and eat on the floor of my bedroom and talk. I want to go out and sit on sunset cliffs with you, I want to sit and steal kisses on the couch in between episodes, I want you to hold my hands above my head while we kiss on my bed. I just want you. And thats the thing, that the day you broke up with me, I had spent all day looking forward to seeing you. I was with my last client and I kept saying to myself, “only 2 meow hours before I get to go home and see Ryan. Okay now 1 hours, okay now 30 minutes. I was so excited to see you after spending 3 days away from you and now its been 2 weeks. I miss you. I really do wish ,y first boyfriend had dated me for more than a month. It just all solidified that no one is ever going tot truly want to be with me. I finally found you, someone that likes me, but a month in and youre done. I understand youre busy and need to focus on yourself, but it just makes me feel like im not enough, im not worth the effort it takes to be with. I never am and I never will be. I hope in another sims universe we’re together, because it made me so happy when you said that, and I would like to think that we’re one of the rare ones where we didn’t end up together and in most of the other ones we were destined to be each others person, like I thought we were in this one. I had truly hoped you were my person, but not here, not there, not anywhere. Fuck you, but also not fuck you at all. Its all so confusing because I know you broke it off in respect to me, but also because you didnt want to do it anymore and that is the hardest thing to grasp. That it felt like you liked me, that you wanted me. Instead you were questioning it the whole time. Even when you met my fucking family. Thats just embarrassing, you hadn’t even told your brother. Another boy in my life who didnt tell their brother about me until they found out in another way. Wow, shocker. I now just have to start pushing myself toward and try to get over you. I should block you but I probably won’t, I dont want to hurt your feelings. Speaking of, I wonder what youre going to do with the DnD journal I got you. I wonder if you’ll ever use it, or you’ll throw it in your closet, never to be seen again, or if you’ll give it to a friend. I hope you use it, but ill understand if you dont, considering I cant get myself to use the gifts you gave me. It just hurts too much to do so. I also saw the new trailer for the new DnD movie when I was watching Smile with Summer and Wade and it made me sad because I know that if we had stayed together, I would have gone and seen it With you. Summer said I could go see it with them, but I dont want to see it if its not with you. I also cant watch the rest of Arcane because thats your favorite show and watching it would just make me think of us sitting on the couch and watching it together and I dont want to do that. Everywhere in my apartment makes me think of you and I fucking hate it. I was on the floor of my bed earlier crying at the stuff you gave me/that makes me think of you and it just made me think of eating there together, and i was sitting where we hugged and said we were some of each others favorite people. Or my bed where we sleeping together and you kept getting up to pee and then when you got into bed one time you leaned down and kissed me softly as you got back on my bed. Or sitting on the couch and kissing. And the kitchen where we made mojitos and talked. Pathetically enough, I havent thrown out the extra mint you left here from that night because its the last thing , besides my memorabilia, that I have of you, even though its old and disgusting now. I just want it all back. I just want you back.

Mundaun
FInished today, def one of my top favorite games.
Really love the setting, atmosphere, characters, and story.
The pencil art direction works wonders for the game, it really looks beautiful and does wonders when the developers do something spooky. Everytime the old man does something bizarre with his face is great. Altho there was one time where it's was mainly funny, and that's when he gets Allegria and Gmod ragdolls all over the place.
The story feel of obvious strange things are happening, but the characters aren't constantly saying how weird things ("Well, that just happened") and just dealing with it. Really just tickles that part of my brain.
The gameplay hits the spot for me the way an immersive sim game only can. It probably doesn't have as much depth as some other immersive sims have but it has enough for me that I can really get immersed in it. The little sequence you do to make coffee is always a stand out for me, feels really nice and calming. The fact that you can store your pan, coffee cups, and fire wood was a cool touch (even if it didn't have a gameplay reason that I could notice for it). Really just interacting with anything felt especially nice. Running over the haymen with the muval (as well as just driving around in the muval) will never not be fun. Using grandpa's pipe to counter the bees of the beekeepers was cool and very whimsical (also not sure where to put this, but seeing the beekeepers at night just standing in place wearing their hives on their head is a really great image. Makes me wonder if the beekeepers were always like this and if grandpa always stole their honey. Given that in the story he tricks the old man I wouldn't put it past him). Hell even running away from the enemies to duck into a safe house felt great (this also applies to the parts of the game where you ran for cover from the rock rain).
The exploration was really fun with the really packed in small areas. I really enjoyed hunting down the stat increase items. Looking around grandpa's home, sleeping in his bed with the spiked board (I wish I could remember the name of it) to ward off spirits that would sit on your chest, going into your childhood room, finding grandpa's gun and uniform, gave a very unique feeling that I'll treasure.
Really loved how they did the journal and inventory. The way the journal gets more filled with your drawings of the area, people, maps, and things you find is peak. The inventory framed in your backpack and being able to look at all the little models is also peak (Allegria is very cute). Makes me wish more games would try something like it.
Music/Sound design is really top notch. The ambiance is peak. The mountain monster with it's massive and loud footsteps that make you sink into snow if you're in it brought me back as a kid when I watched the Rankin Bass Rudolph special. The abominable snowman showing up with it's child scaring roar and massive footsteps. The pinking strings that start up when a beekeeper sees you always gets me.
Part me hopes the devs make more games they really got a good head for it.

Big sims update with infants is out, and early access for the new pack. I didn't watch early access vids except to see the build/buy. I don't like the tables/chairs in the pack, but I love most everything else (and that matters more to me because we have plenty tables and chairs :P).
These new items are my favs as shown in MsGryphi's vid, plus a couple things from lilsimsie's update vid.
WE HAVE A STANDING PIANO!!! I'm sooo happy. No more stacking endtables and merging them with the keyboard lol. Now we finally have an option between formal grand piano and that electronic keyboard. And look at the swatches soooo cool!
I'm also really loving the detail in the sink and bathtub. The quality has advanced a lot in recent packs. (to the point that it's actually made it difficult to even use base game/early pack items because they just look so bad by comparison.)
Also these tree wall decalls <3 I don't know how I'm gonna use them but I really want to. And the mushroom planter, the owl statue... so cute. Love this wall art because it looks like legit art! The black cat makes me think of the Le Chat Noir poster, and the one next to it makes me think of Alphonse Mucha. In another swatch there's a painting which reminds me of Hokusai's wave.
MsGryphi seemed confused by the "children's statues" (the rocketship and pirate bear). To me they definitely look like the way kids put everyday items together and use their imagination to turn them into something else. I really like these items, except for their being nonfuctioning, they really add reality to kid sims.
Again with the detail... look at this kitchen set!! I'm so in love with the stove in particular, I've been wanting a stove like that. The couch with the throw blanket is my favorite, the other one is not my style, but I do love the colors and the swatches, and I wanted to add it because you can see again just how much more detailed sims games are now. Instead of looking washed out and old, these couches look to me like someone really decorated them.
The smaller items I adore: so happy to have a toy box which fits in a more rustic home, and a new lantern!! It looks nicer than the other lanterns so I'm sure I'll use it everywhere. Love the owl backpack too.
The final four detail items I will definitely use all the time. Love the shadows from the trellis and the gazebo. The rock-line planter will be a great shortcut instead of painstakingly lining things with rocks myself lol. And I love the little sapling growing out of the stump! What a nice touch!
These crafts... as a pre-k teacher, I have made every single one x'D hahaha. And I want this fox lamp for my own life. No really, I NEED it.
Last but not least: look at the infants!!! I love this strawberry sweater (there's also a red-pink one that I might actually like better, even though I don't usually go for red-on-red!) And the middle haircut is THE baby haircut for me. I love the soft wispy baby hair soooo much. And the final pic is what newborns look like now. I still wish they were cuter... and smaller.... but eh. They're only newborns for a very short time so it's more important for the infants to be cute. I'm still not sure what I'll think of them, and how obviously they'll differ from toddlers. But they do look cute.
It is nice to have a more interesting childhood. In particular I'm excited that child skills now roll over into teen years. That for me was a major detractor from childhood before: why be a child if what you do as a kid has no impact later on? It does have an impact, though, at least if you have Parenthood (I'm not sure whether this is pack specific or not): you gain extra traits based on your parenting as a child. But those are extra traits - nice to have, but they're not useful like skills. If my child plays piano, they should be able to have at least one or two piano skill points as an adult, otherwise it just doesn't feel worth it. So glad that's a thing now!

I have lots, actually! I’m a really good cook.

Video games weren't a huge part of my childhood but I did play a lot of Sims when we had a computer that would run it and I remember playing Mario Kart and Crazy Taxi with my cousins.
Are you good at making big decisions alone or do you tend to seek approval from others?
My husband and I make big decisions together. If it’s something I’m unsure about, I’ll consult different opinions online but it’s very, very rare that I’ll talk to a real life person about it. I just think its better to make your decisions privately rather than getting everyone you know’s input.
Does your town or city have good public transport, or is it easier to drive?
You have to have a car here. There’s a very limited bus route and no taxi service.
What was the last cocktail you drank?
Oh god, I don’t know. I don’t drink very often.
Are you good at keeping running counts and tallies in your head?
Um...depends on the thing I guess?
Does your country have its own edition of Big Brother?
I assume so? I’ve never watched it tho.
How often do you take a nap during the day?
I’ve been napping a lot more frequently lately (which isn’t saying much as it used to be never) but it’s still pretty sparse. I would say once every couple weeks?

Instagram and TikTok are my two main ones and then I check Facebook every so often but I have notifications turned off and I don’t post anything. I only ever use Tumblr for porn and surveys.
Are there any foods you hate the smell of but like the taste, or vice versa?
Those two things go pretty hand in hand. If I don’t like the smell of something, the taste is gonna make me wanna puke.

Ugh no, I wish.

Spanish would be the most helpful I think.
Have you ever tried vegan ice cream?
Yeah and not a fan. Everyone talks about how amazing it is and how you can’t tell the difference but I just find it to be so grainy with a weird aftertaste.

I call my husband honey or beebs most often. I don’t think I have any nicknames for my other friends besides like ‘my love’ or an abbreviation of their name.

As long as it’s not ‘baby’, I don’t care. Baby is so cringe.

Greta Van Fleet was pretty awesome but Paramore was my favorite.

Oh yeah, tons. I love sewing, embroidery, photography, typing, baking, coloring, making collages, doing puzzles...just anything where I can be creative!

I mean I'm old enough that when I was a kid, our cameras still had film that had to be developed. But I've never physically done it with my own hands.
