I don't think we talk enough about how special songs from the vault are. taylor kept these songs close to the chest, knowing one day she'd find the perfect home for them and that they were safest in HER hands. big machine never altered them or owned them - - they are purely taylor! I think that "from the vault" is also a metaphor for taylor stepping out of all of the rules and expectations she was confined by, both musically and personally. these songs would have likely sounded quite different if they made it to the original albums. but now, it's taylor, authentic and free. and it never fails to amaze me how business smart she is. like, it's SUCH a boss move to debut the vault songs through her re-recordings where she has total creative control. this is taylor reclaiming what was always hers AND debuting what they never got their greedy hands on. and I'm so here for it 👏

... and in case @taylorswift is lurking, "from the vault" would be an incredible title for a documentary of the re-recordings 😉
