tired of everyone on here reducing icepick joe down to haha funny stabby man

like i DO like the jokes and memes, don't get me wrong, but like

there's SO MUCH to his character and he really does tie into goncharov's main themes

like. we're told early on the he was put into a mental institution as a young man due to his breakdown and inconsolable grief at losing his older brother giorno (who was his only living family and basically a father figure to him!)

wherein he was mistreated and was HEAVILY IMPLIED to be scheduled for a lobotomy before he escaped. (in fact, some interpretations say he actually received and survived the lobotomy, citing his manner of speaking and his lack of impulse control. but that's a whole separate discussion because i can honestly see both sides)

and then he turns to a life of crime because that's basically the only option he had left, after being deprived of so many opportunities in his youth (and the fear of being caught and involuntarily institutionalized again)

and him eventually leaning into the role of "violent madman" that the world thrust onto him for showing signs of mental illness in a way that was nonviolent, but was loud and inconvenient and impossible for those around him to simply push away.

and him taking his rage out at the same world that not only killed his brother but forced him to undergo years of psychiatric abuse and basically dehumanization

(like seriously, how do SO MANY people miss the connection between him using an icepick as a weapon and the concept of an ICEPICK lobotomy)

which. yknow. ties heavily into the film's theme of people being pushed to society's margins and forced into a life of crime, instead of given the help they desperately needed

and then like.

his fucking death scene. he tries to put a stop to the cycle of senseless violence, taking the fall for andrey, telling michailov that *he* was the one who killed luciana

him kneeling down and allowing michailov to bash him through the skull with his very own icepick. it's more lobotomy symbolism; dying from the very thing he spent his whole life running from. further driving home the film's themes of repeating cycles and futility

and then, to drive it all home, that sacrifice didn't even end up stopping the cycle of violence! because andrey viewed joe as basically an older brother (mirroring joe and giorno) and tried to get revenge on michailov for killing joe.

No. Anti-endos have repeatedly told me they want me dead. Some of them have gone so far as to threaten to maim and/or kill me themselves. I have received everything from petty insults to threats of violence to pictures of gore and literal shit in my DMs from anti-endos. And aside from that, anti-endos are hateful exclusionists who are against a group of people minding their own business and not harming them in any way just for an innate characteristic that they have, and their ways often harm other systems that they supposedly "accept". They are practically indistinguishable from all the other bigots I've had to interact with (not by my choice) on this site. I do not want them here. They can go be hateful in their own corner of the internet – they have plenty of copycat versions of this blog that will accept them.

I want to play a soulslike where the horny undercurrent of the bosses' elaborate instant kill attacks gets less and less plausibly deniable as the game goes on. Like, in the opening hours there might be a boss who turns you to stone with lurid panning closeups of your character's expression of frozen horror or whatever, and then by the 50% mark you're running into fights with shit like a thirty-second cutscene where the boss inflates you big and round. It's critical that it never actually tips over into outright porn, so that I can play dumb and act like the people who've picked up on the horny vibe are reading too much into it.

Whenever I think about the current fan theory that Rei will kill his father, thus choosing his found family over his blood one, I just think back on these words his father told him:

Kill or be killed.

That was how Rei was brought up. That was the mentality his father put into him (we even see Rei reflect this a teeny, tiny bit in a far less intense way, when he asks whether Miri won the supposed fight or not in Episode 6). That was how Rei was brought up to resolve conflict and that is the way his father understands resolving conflict (such as killing the supposed traitor).

So, it would make sense that Rei would resolve his conflict with his father in this way, on his father’s own terms. Like, if that phrase of his father’s isn’t the biggest bit of potential foreshadowing - I’ll eat my hat (though, honestly, I don’t really have any hats anymore, lol).

first day of @tendaysoftenzo !! the prompt is:

Day 1, November 1st: Tenz-O-Ween (Holidays) | Supernatural

I went with Yamato telling a (immersive) ghost story! this has been a fragment of an idea in my head for a while and this prompt gave me the shove i needed to actually put pencil to paper.

obviously as it is right now it's unfinished, the tree still needs to be drawn in a lot more detail w/ more human bones around it, and the whole thing is in pencils—when it IS done, i intend for it to be a linework-heavy black and white piece, but that won't be for a little while 'cause we've got 9 more days of tenzō to go!!!

the entity that yamato is talking about is somewhat-loosely based on the Jubokko (樹木子, "tree child") which as far as I'm aware is a fictional yōkai created by Shigeru Mizuki.

Bruce nodded, giving them a small smile. “Good job,” he encouraged, as the many, many parenting books had said to do. Repeatedly. “And what do you think we should do?”

Barbara- sorry, Batgirl- was the first to pipe up, though both practically vibrated in glee, their little wings flapping as they moved. “Take them out from above! Not let them sound the alarm, and, and, um…”

“I hit them from behind and Batgirl can hit them from the front! And we won’t break a lung this time!” Dick chirped, bouncing slightly. Ah. Yeah, the first few times they had gone after the same person they’d managed to do more than crack a few of the person’s ribs, which, yeah. Not a good thing.

Not to mention the fact that one of the first lessons he had to teach them was how to properly hide a body, or at least hide how you might be the reason behind the death. Because small children diving at someone at thirty-to-eighty miles per hour (forty-eight to one-hundred and twenty-nine kilometers per hour, he mentally translated from habit) had a habit of collapsing a lung, crushing a liver, or just snapping a neck depending on where they hit.

Ugh, there were no parenting books to help with things like that.

“Anything else?” he hummed, keeping an eye down at the gang bustling around, a few guns waving around as they turned a few flashlights towards any shadow. Not complete idiots then, but still forgetting to so much as look up. Amateurs.

“Let one escape so they can lead us to where they’re storing stuff if it’s not in this warehouse?”

“Make sure not to give one a heart attack?”

“Oh! Oh! Make sure not to give you a heart attack!”

With a sudden "POOF!" A frenzied bat emerges from a thick cloud of black smoke, in the middle of Mira's office, promptly morphing into the stoic, pale figure that is Tatiana Salas.

Tatiana: Sweetheart, you know your father used to say, "too much sugar will rot your teeth!"

Mira: Mom? What are you doing here? ...Uninvited? How the hell did you get in? I know I have garlic strung above the entrance...

Tatiana pauses, then perches on the edge of the coffee table.

Tatiana: It's astonishing what some of these Sparrow children can be persuaded to do for the right price. You weren't... trying to keep me away... were you?

Mira feels her stomach flip.

Mira: No, Mom, I wasn't trying to keep you away. The garlic is just a Spooky Day decoration. Although, now I'm considering making it a permanent fixture, if you're going to make a habit out of showing up unannounced.

Tatiana: [Chuckles] Mira, what secrets are you harboring that my spontaneous arrivals cause you such distress? Your wife is in Brindleton Bay, for her Grandfather's birthday, isn't that right? Or could it be, you're concerned about me stumbling upon something between you and the eldest Sparrow daughter?

Mira: [Without missing a beat] I don't know what you're talking about.

Tatiana: Mira, I am no fool. You've abandoned our family business to work for hers. She's very recently taken on your surname.

Mira: She's a Darling, too. She changed her last name to honor her Grandparents.

Tatiana: Right after you adopted the Darling name? My dear, she's a prominent public figure, and she isn't exactly discreet about her name change. Mira, her photograph is framed on your beautifully constructed piano shelf. It's high time to be honest with me, Mira.

Mira: I... [sigh] Alright. There's been something between us for a while, and, well, we recently married in Tartosa.

Tatiana: Tartosa? Are you implying this occurred during your honeymoon with Coraleye?

Mira: Yes mom. But it's not some scandalous affair or whatever, okay? Coraleye knows all about it, and we have an understanding.

Tatiana: I see. But your marriage with Coraleye remains stable, correct?

Mira: Yes mom, of course.

Tatiana: Mira, as long as this arrangement doesn't threaten your union with your wife, then I support it wholeheartedly. In fact, I see it as a progressive step, aligning with the values I advocate for in my campaign for diverse families.

Mira: [Sigh] You're right. I'm sorry for not telling you sooner. It's just that this whole situation feels so high stakes, and I knew it was important to you.

Tatiana: I understand where you're coming from, sweetheart. I apologize for any pressure I may have put on you... Always remember, you can confide in me about anything. You know, in our pre-revival era, we had a distant uncle who entered a polygamous marriage. He, too, married a set of cousins.

Mira: Wow, really? Did he live a happy life with them?

Tatiana: No, not at all. The cousins fought constantly, leading the uncle to take his own miserable life, then the cousins killed one another in a fit of rage.

Mira: I refuse to accept that as foreshadowing.
