“Thank you for saving my grandchild, young man. Please have dinner with us tonight.”

It had been an hour until your grandma knew the whole story. She was now in the kitchen preparing the dinner and you did your chores. You knew the stories and so you leaned back in your chair and sipped your drink. You haven’t seen your grandmas’ eyes shine that bright in a long time. It had been three hours and Ace was about to head off to his lodging. The sun was just setting and your grandma hugged the freckled man goodbye.

this was a special i wrote for my fanfic (thats not published here on tumblr) but i realized it could be a good standalone one shot so i wanted to post it hereeeee :) the relationship status is ambiguous, but its obvious luffy and reader have known each other since chidhood/foosha village and luffy really really really loves clinging to reader ! another thing, if u want this could be a soft yandere luffy as well cause hes definitelllyyy showing summ tendencies here lol

“tender is the night, lying by your side. tender is the touch of someone that you love too much. tender is my heart, i’m screwing up my life. lord, i need to find someone who can heal my mind.”

luffy’s first impression of [name] was that he was strong. he looked up to him, he wanted to be as cool as him and as capable as him. how many times [name] had saved luffy’s ass when they were children was uncountable. and all those memories live so vividly in the captain’s head.

and when he made [name] promise that he’d find him in the grand line - made him swear that he’d join his crew and not anyone else’s, it was all so serious. the most serious luffy had ever been in the face of [name].

because to luffy, there would be no reason sailing out to sea if [name] wasn’t by his side. it sounds childish, especially if luffy were to ever verbally say that, but overtime he had realized that it was another genuine sentiment. there was no way luffy could become the pirate king without [name] by his side.

"luffy, stop running over the mud, you’re gonna fall on your face!” [name] worriedly called out from the treehouse, seeing the rubber boy play in their yard. it had just recently rained and all the soil that was surrounding their treehouse was still sludgy.

of course, luffy wanted to play in the mud like the child he was. [name] wasn’t going to stop him, but he could at least warn the younger one of injury.

"come play with me, [name]! let’s make mud pies!”

“no! you’re just gonna get hungry and actually eat them! gross!”

“i won’t- i am hungry though!”

[name] didn’t reply, only leaning over the wooden railing of the treehouse and watching as luffy got himself all mucked up and dirty. somehow, his straw hat stayed clean the entire time. he sighed, fiddling with his own piece of shanks, the cloth on his wrist before smiling gently.

just as he was about to turn around and get some naps in, luffy’s shrill voice started screaming, “[name]! [name]! save me!!! save me!”

he whipped his head around in an instant, eyes widening when he saw that luffy was caught in a mud slide.

"i can't breathe!!"

his voice was getting farther away and [name] jumped out of the treehouse without hesitation.

“luffy! luffy!” he shouted desperately, grunting when his ankle got caught in the mud and he was being dragged into the disgusting substance as well. he jerked his body upwards, wanting to at least see where luffy could’ve possibly been.

and then he saw it — his tiny palm waving frantically around in the air. [name] grit his teeth, twisting his body every which way to break out of the sticky grasp the environment had on him.

"[name]-” the boy’s scream was cut off and the sound of coughing began to fill his ears.

”luffy!” he grabbed a vine that was on the side of a tree and ripped it off, unlocking a newfound strength in himself to save luffy. he threw it right into luffy’s palms and tugged as hard as he could.

he dug his heels into the ground, his jaw clenched as he put all of his strength in pulling luffy out. and when he finally did, the first thing he did was wrap his arms around the boy’s torso.

"can you breathe?! are you okay?!” he frantically asked, patting the boy’s back in case anything was lodged in his chest - hindering his breathing. but luffy just collapsed into his arms and began wailing.

“i thought i was going to die, [name]! thank you!!”

[name] protectively wrapped luffy up in his arms, hugging him as tight as possible as he tried to reassure himself that luffy was alright. and he steadied his breathing, allowing luffy to cry into his arms for however long he wanted.

“you stupid idiot, don’t ever play in mud again!” he scolded luffy, pushing away the black locks of hair out of luffy’s face. he grimaced when he felt how dirty his hair felt, reminding himself to bathe with luffy to ensure all the grime was washed out.

and despite luffy’s face almost being completely covered in mud, he still flashed that bright smile, “you saved me, [name]! thank you!”

[name] blinked a couple of times before laughing, “of course i’d save you! i’ll always be there! just scream like the little baby you are and i’ll come running!”

luffy frowned, hands balling into [name]’s mud ridden shirt, “i’m not a baby!”

“yeah, you are,” [name] corrected, “but it’s alright, i’ll take care of you no matter what! so you get the excuse of acting like a baby! but! only for a little while longer, you gotta start maturing soon, luffy!”

“don’t wanna, that sounds boring!”

[name] laughed as loud as possible, finding luffy’s eagerness to please and obliviousness more heartfelt than anything he’s ever seen before.

and as [name] was sitting in the crow’s nest, watching luffy run around the deck whining for adventure, he realized how lucky he got that his captain was still an adventurous, reckless, and immature as he was. he fears that if luffy had lost any of those traits, he’d make for a boring captain.

as if knowing that [name] was watching from above, luffy looked up and grinned happily to see that his e/c eyes were looking at him. in a second, he stretched himself up to where [name] was and crashed into his chest.

“don’t you want to go on more adventures, [name]?” luffy asked, rubbing their cheeks against one another. the grin on his face could be felt along [name]’s skin. his rubbery, but soft, skin was already making [name] crack into a smile of his own.

“yes, i want to go on more adventures, but we need to find an island for that to be an option,” [name] reasoned logically, making luffy’s smile turn into a frown.

“but i wanna go now! can’t you take us to an island?!”

“it doesn’t work like that, luffy!”

“it so does, you liar!”

“you’re right it does, i was lying!” [name] grinned, laughing as luffy began play fighting with him. “but aren’t you on an adventure right now?”

luffy paused, stilling in his fake attacks as he mulled over the question. then his signature grin came back onto his face, “i guess i am!”

“what makes you say that?”

“if you’re here, i’m on the best adventure!” luffy sincerely, and unapologetically, shouted.

[name] was shocked at first before his expression melted into a loving stare, “i feel the same way,”

“good! it’d be wrong if you didn’t!”

luffy calmed down from when he was running around on the deck. he still had [name] wrapped up in his arms, but the man wasn’t fighting against his embrace. so he only tightened it further.

luffy’s statement came out of nowhere, but [name] didn’t bother showing his surprise. he simply let luffy continue on.

“i don’t ever want to be seperated from you again,” luffy said, out of nowhere his voice was now trembling, “you’d leave and leave and leave and then i never knew when you’d be back — if you’d even come back! and i don’t want that ever again…don’t ever leave me again!”

[name] frowned, fists clenching at his sides as he heard luffy’s shaky voice.

“and then you left for three years and there was no way i could talk to you, you and ace left me by myself! but you promised me we’d find each other, so i knew you’d come back! and now that you’re back, you can’t ever leave again,” luffy tightened his hold on [name], nuzzling his now cold nose into his neck. it had turned cold due to the sudden rush of tears that were clouding his vision.

“no! no! don’t take him away! don’t take [name] away!” luffy shouted, fighting against the uniformed men. his fists were pathetically pounding into their legs, his cries filling the night air.

“[name]! don’t go! please, don’t go!!"

for [name], those cries that came from luffy lived in his mind on repeat. whenever he’d have to leave, against his will, luffy would wail and cry until he was too far that he wasn’t able to hear him. he’d never make luffy suffer like that again, he’d sworn it to himself.

he was supposed to be the one protecting him, not causing him pain. no more suffering would come to luffy, if [name] could help it. he’d never have to cry for him again.

“i won’t let you leave, i won’t let anyone take you away — never again!” luffy said stubbornly, his teeth grazing the flesh of [name]’s shoulder.

the captain never got sentimental like this — nearly coming to tears for apparently no reason. but, it was not a secret that he had an unseen side to himself when it came to [name].

it was a side that no one else on the crew had really witnessed for themselves (yet). a side of vulnerability that only [name] was capable of bringing out. it was like the way [name] could command luffy stop stealing food off of other people’s plates and the captain would listen (for a solid 5 minutes, then he’d have to cave in and steal more food for his stomach).

“i won’t leave, luffy.” [name] said in a determined tone, “no one is going to take me away. i belong here with you, so don’t worry about anyone coming for me.”

“if anyone tries taking you away, i’ll kill them. i’ll send them flying that they’ll never try coming back, ever again!” luffy shouted once more. a deep pit of anger lived in him, a secret that he kept hidden for the most part.

it was a sense of guilt, probably, that fueled it so wildly. the guilt of not being able to do anything when he was a child. so he feels the need to overcompensate now that he has become stronger. if [name]’s position in their crew was ever threatened, someone tried taking him away, luffy would have had years upon years of pent up anger to release.

no one really knew how angry he was. only himself. it was the type of anger he would showcase when one of his crewmates, his nakama, was threatened on a personal level. when he saw nami crying for help against arlong was the one instance he can remember the clearest.

but the thing is, if anything like that ever happened to [name], he doesn’t think he’d be able to control himself. if [name] was ever pushed to the point of begging and crying for help, luffy doesn’t know how sane he could act.

just thinking of how frail [name] was whenever he’d be taken away when they were younger made him feel blood thirsty.

and it was an odd feeling. he almost never feels this way. never so violent. but when it comes to [name], everything is a free for all in luffy’s mind.

ever since he was a child [name] has been nothing but kind, a protector for luffy. and the captain would rather die than fail in protecting the one person who was always there for him.

“ace, quit being so mean to luffy!” [name]’s voice shouted, scolding the freckled man. he ran over to the younger one’s side immediately, collecting him in his arms and creating a physical barrier around luffy and ace.

“you baby him too much! how is he supposed to get stronger-”

“he’s just a kid!!!” [name] would shout, as if the three year age gap between himself and luffy amounted to decades. “don’t be so mean to him, don’t hit him anymore! i won’t allow it!”

“there’s no way he’ll survive in the real world if you keep this up!”

[name] grit his teeth, standing up and socking ace right in the face, “you can’t decide that!!”

“i’m being realistic!”

“you’re bullying him, enough!” [name] spat out, once again gathering luffy into his arms, “i won’t allow you to hurt him any more! don’t ever think about laying your hands on luffy again!!”

luffy hid his face in [name]’s torso, a feeling blossoming in his chest. he didn’t know the name for it and in the coming years, it seems he’d never learn how to properly state this feeling.

but he did know that whenever [name] was nearby, luffy was protected. he felt protected. [name] was, as he is for so many people, a protector. natural instincts make him a self-sacrificial person. if taking a bullet in the place of someone else meant they’d live, he’d jump in front of the gun in an instant.

it was a trait of [name]’s that luffy genuinely hated. not how protective [name] was, but how involved he was in making judgement calls without regards to his own health.

that self-sacrificial mindset that made [name] think more irrationally than he’d ever notice. luffy hated that.

only tiny instances has ever been seen by luffy when they were growing up. taking scoldings and beatings from garp in order to save luffy the pain, shadowing luffy’s body with his own if there was a sudden danger directed towards him, things along those lines that would leave [name] with some injuries or scars.

but to think that this attitude of [name]’s could lead to more serious injuries, or even death, was what made luffy uncomfortable. made him want to punch a hole in the wall. it really, really infuriated him.

because in his eyes, [name]’s life was something more important than anything else. he didn’t understand how [name] could be so careless with something so important to luffy.

the idea that one day, someone may be in a life threatening situation, and [name] would take their place makes luffy’s heart start beating at impossible speeds and his breathing quicken. his mind would get cloudy in dark thoughts. and then he’d have to snap himself out of it to remind himself that he was day dreaming and nothing of those sorts was going to happen any time soon.

he’d make sure of it, as captain he was determined to.

”is he going to be okay, dadan?” luffy sniffled, tiny hands curled into fists as he stared at [name]’s bandaged form.

recklessly, [name] had jumped in front of an animal attacking luffy and took the attack for himself instead. it was a tiger slashing out to draw blood from luffy. [name] had caught the sight from the corner of his eye and ran as fast as he could, hoping to god he had made it in time.

and when he looked down and saw luffy unscratched, he weakly smiled in victory. three slashes were bearing into his skin and making him bleed profusely, but to see luffy unharmed in front of him was enough for him to pass out without a worry in his mind.

imagine luffy’s fear as he had to carry [name] on his back, on his own, not knowing if the ragged breathing coming down on his ears would suddenly stop. the fear and dread he’d feel if he took him all the way back to dadan and it was already determined to be “too late” to save [name].

and the way it would have all been his fault.

now, in reality, the damage wasn’t as bad as luffy had thought it out to be. but he was still only a child. the fact he had seen that much blood was enoug reason for why he thought [name] was really going to die. it was a relatively valid fear.

“he’s going to be alright, this brother of yours is the toughest one of the whole pack of you rabbid animals,” dadan grunted, taking her seat across from luffy by [name]’s side.

“not my brother,” luffy grumpily corrected, tired of people getting the wrong idea. how many times has he had to tell people [name] wasn’t his brother. to luffy he was so much more than that.

as rude as it sounded to his two other brothers, [name] was so much more than a simple title of “brother.”

“apologies,” dadan sarcastically said, “but really, he’s going to be fine luffy, he’ll be better if you just leave him alone, though.”

she stood up, going to walk out of the room and held the door open for luffy. she waited for him to join her side, but he was glued to being by [name]. seeing his resolve in staying by [name], she gently closed the door behind her.

luffy already promised himself he wouldn’t move until [name] opened his eyes.

he wouldn’t sleep until [name] opened his eyes. he wouldn’t eat until [name] drank water — since luffy knew that would be the first thing the boy would need when waking up.

he wouldn’t allow himself the luxury of things [name] was missing out on. especially when it was luffy’s fault he was in this state in the first place.

in the crow’s nest of merry, [name] could only rub up and down luffy’s arm in hopes of calming him down. he felt guilty for being the reason of luffy’s tears, but realized that there was nothing he could have done to prevent them.

the two were too familiar with why he was crying in the first place. they knew that combatting it before the tears would start was useless. luffy had broken down to [name] many times before, especially when they were younger. it would end in sleepless nights and sweet nothings being echoed in the air for luffy’s ears and luffy’s ears only.

and the best way to take care of it was to let it happen. whispered nothings weren't really effective to luffy. he didn’t want to be fed empty promises, he could tell when things couldn’t be guaranteed. but, he thinks, if [name] is the one saying them he wouldn't mind at least hearing them. that didn’t necessarily mean he was listening though.

there was something else he would never pass up on hearing over and over and over again from [name]. it was four simple words. it could be false hope being put into luffy’s head, but he’d believe it for as long as he could.

“i’m not going anywhere,” [name] whispered into luffy’s arms, twisting his body around so now he was properly hugging luffy as well. before luffy had simply suffocated him in his arms, chest to back. but now that they were in a proper embrace, luffy could really hide himself in [name]’s arms.

it was like they were in the treehouse again. in their own world.

“i’m not going anywhere,” [name] repeated more slowly, raking his hands through luffy’s hair and gripping him tight. to emphasize the fact that this was a promise that he’d try his best in keeping.

to luffy, [name] was not a brother.

“i won’t let you,” luffy said in a stubborn voice, the syllables shaking as they left his lips. “you belong here, only here! you belong with me!”

[name] weakly laughed at luffy’s childish exclamation, nodding his head to ease his worries.

luffy never really got to vent these emotions out, so when did they come to surface, they were almost like a tsunami. they’d drown him in saying things he might’ve not even understood, but felt right to say.

and he’d blabber on about things he might not understand because he knew keeping them suppressed wasn't an option.

luffy didn’t know how to talk about the emotions he felt regarding [name], not in a way that would do them justice at least. he didn’t know how to articulate how protective he felt of [name], so instead as a compromise he’d attach himself to him whenever he could.

if someone tried sweeping [name] off of his feet, he wouldn’t know how to tell other people [name] was only his, so instead he’d yell about how annoying that person was to him and [name].

he didn’t know how to properly say how much he loved [name] so he’d boil it down to thinking [name] was heaven on earth.

[name] smiled gently when he felt luffy bury his head into his neck, tears pouring out of his eyes. he wondered what spurred luffy into being so open at the moment, but he wasn’t going to ask. it wasn’t appropriate and it didn’t matter.

he didn’t care why luffy was suddenly so worried on him no longer being there, he’d only focus on assuring him that he really wasn’t going anywhere. because someone would have to pry his cold, dead hands off of luffy if they wanted to separate the two. there’s no way he’d ever leave luffy again, especially after hearing his worries so vividly spoken now.

sure, luffy would say things relatively similar things to this when they were young. but there was always a sense of uncertainty in [name] when he would comfort luffy back then. he wasn’t sure if he was really going to be able to stay with him. the circumstances were so confusing back then.

but now it’s a clear picture. he knows that there is no way anyone could come between the two. after being pulled apart so sporadically in their youth and then being separated for three years due to [name] setting sail earlier, there was no room for argument in this matter.

[name] and luffy wouldn’t ever be separated for long ever again. [name] would do everything in his power to ensure that didn’t happen. anything to keep luffy happy. anything to keep luffy safe and protected.

“will you always leave like this when we are older, [name]?” luffy innocently asked one night. the two were awake due to the younger one having vivid nightmares regarding [name].

a nightmare that was reoccuring nowadays. [name] would be taken away and then he’d never come back, leaving his status unknown to luffy. and he’d wake up screaming and crying and [name] would be at his side in an instant.

”i’m working on it, lu, i really am,” [name] consoled him, holding him as they bathed in the moonlight. “i hate being away from you too, but there’s nothing we can do abuot it — for now.”

“i’ll get stronger and then i’ll beat all those stupid guys up!” luffy said in pure determination, his eyebrows furrowed together in anger and frustration, “i’ll fight them next time,”

[name] chuckled, shaking his head, “don’t fight them. just promise to me you’ll always be waiting for me when i leave and i’ll always, always come back,”

luffy blinked owlishly before settling on that compromise. he wiggled his pinky finger in the air, right in front of [name]’s face, “i’ll promise to always be here waiting if you promise to always come back,”

[name] paused, thinking of he really should make empty promises. but then he shook his head, refusing to think so negatively and in a pessimistic way when luffy’s smile was bringing nothing but optimism to their conversation.

so he interlocked their pinkies together, shaking slightly as he nodded, “i promise.”

[name] was tender.

in his earliest memories of [name], luffy has known him to only be tender. the tender care [name] would show him, the love that was delivered to him so tenderly. the touch that would ghost over his skin, not because he was scared of holding him, but so he wouldn’t startle him.

no matter what, [name] would always be tender to luffy.

LUFFY X READER - PART THREE

forethoughts: ahhhhhh this is probably gonna be the last part i'm gonna post for this series FOR NOW, i have so much stuff to write (cough hanahaki) so after this one luffy's gonna be put on hiatus for a while :).

notes: angsty? it's definitely sad. a lot of robin in here because she's been in my mind.

You didn’t know what to do. Where to go. You decided to duck into your room, hiding yourself in the bathroom as you sunk, curling up into a ball against the wall. Tears started to flow down your face, your heart absolutely shattered and mind racing for conclusions. What did you do wrong? Why was Luffy acting like this? What’s happening?

Your heart fell to your stomach as one thought crept into your mind.

No… but how could he? You only called whenever he was asleep. Of course, there was that one emergency call Admiral Akainu made, but it was only that and that time only. Could Luffy have eavesdropped onto your conversation?

He was acting all jumpy and weird once you came out. Your mind reminded you, as your head dropped onto your knees. He knew. He had to know. That’s why he kicked you out. He knew you were a marine.

Damn it… damn it! You wanted to scream. You wanted to throw a tantrum and cry. But that’s not what marines do. That’s not what you needed to do.

“You want me… to go onto the Straw Hat’s ship and pretend to be a pirate?” You looked at Admiral Akainu.

“Yes. Is that a problem, cadet?”

“Well, what if they find out-”

“They won’t. We’ll take care of that on our side. All you need to do is get into their crew, learn about them. Go undercover.”

“What for?”

“Are you questioning me, cadet?” Akainu glared at you.

You looked down at your boots. “No, Admiral.”

“Hmn. Call every week to report your findings. Eventually… we’ll have enough information to destroy the Straw Hats and triangulate their location. Grow close with them. Make them trust you, cadet.”

“How will you know my location while I’m on their ship?”

“Kizaru will handle that. Now, cadet, this is a very important task and mission you’re going to be sent on. Failure to complete your mission will result in death.”

“Death?!”

“The Straw Hats must never know you are a marine. They must never know we are trying to do this. If they ever find out, we’ll find out. And your punishment for failing will be death. You can walk away and turn around. Or you can prove yourself and make yourself the hero that saved the world from the Straw Hat Pirates. Which will you choose, cadet?”

You balled your fists, looking up at the Admiral. “When do I leave, Admiral?”

A sly smile grew on Akainu’s face. “Tomorrow morning. You better not mess this up, cadet.”

“I won’t.”

You should’ve walked away. That was a very clear option and the smartest one. You could’ve just continued your life as a cadet working for the marines, but no, of course you wanted to prove yourself and do something as ridiculous as join the Straw Hat Pirates.

But if you never had accepted Akainu’s offer, you wouldn’t have met Monkey D. Luffy. You never would’ve felt the love Luffy gave you and you gave him. Even if it was all a ruse, there was still a connection you had with the boy. He was charming. Even though you were told to believe he was a ruthless pirate, taking down the likes of Arlong and Crocodile, a warlord of the sea, you started to see him in a different light.

And you saw the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates in a different light too. Roronoa Zoro was a ruthless swordsman, but he was always sleeping and getting lost. Nico Robin didn’t live up to her ‘devil child’ moniker the World Government gave her. She was a peaceful soul that always accommodated to your needs and wants, and was always there to listen to your rant, even if you were just doing it to learn more about her. Hell, even the perverted cook was nicer to you than the entire marine corps. Unbeknownst to your naive self at that time, you had actually done what Akainu intended you to do: Get close with them.

And now you were too close.

Your feeling of resentment to the Straw Hats had turned into love and care.

You had become a Straw Hat Pirate, you had become their Nakama.

And you couldn’t turn back now, now that they knew your secret.

They’re going to hate you. They’re never going to see you in the same way. They’re never going to like you again. You’re going to be alone again.

Tears flowed freely down your face, as you sobbed uncontrollably, not knowing what to do or how to handle your dilemma. You had failed your mission. Luffy knew that you were a marine. You were going to die, that was Akainu’s exact words. But you had a band of pirates that cared for you and would fight for you. Perhaps… no. You were asking too much for them. You were a traitor. A mole. They wouldn’t help you, even if you explained your situation to them. You had joined their crew with the intention to betray them. There’s nothing pure about your intentions that would make them want to help you.

So that left your fate.

You were going to die.

You sat there on the floor, staring at the sink as you leaned against the wooden wall, tears streaming down your face. You stared at your arm, glaring at one specific spot.

“What’s that, Admiral Kizaru?” You asked the Admiral who held up a mysterious looking device.

“That’s a tracker, cadet.” He answered simply. You sat on an operating table, your right arm extended outwards as the Admiral moved around.

“Is that going in me?”

“Yes. We’ll be able to track your location with this.”

“And that’s all it’s going to do?”

“Hm… that’s information you don’t need to know. Now, try not to scream, will you?”

That damn device was going to kill you the moment the marines found out you had failed. They might activate it now. Maybe seconds later. Minutes. Hours. They were going to find out you had failed. And you were going to die.

Suddenly, you heard a gentle knock on the door, causing you to jump and scream.

“It’s alright, Y/N, it’s just me. May I come in?” You heard Robin’s voice appear from behind the door. Shit.

You wiped your tears away with your eyes, clearing your throat. You looked at your reflection in the mirror, clear evidence of your breakdown written all over your face. There was no hiding the fact you were crying; you couldn’t even think of a way to hide it.

Reluctantly, you opened the door, letting the archaeologist walk into the bathroom. Robin looked at you with a somber and sympathetic look, pulling you in for a hug. “Oh, dear, I’m so sorry. I don’t know what’s gotten into Luffy… you don’t deserve to be blasted like that. How are you feeling?”

You wanted to push Robin away, scream at her until she left. You didn’t deserve her kindness, nor the care and love she was giving you. You were a filthy traitor, and you deserved to die.

“Robin…” You croaked, as tears started to flow down your face. They were immediately wiped away by Robin’s slender fingers, as you refused to look her in the eyes.

“What is it, Y/N?”

“I…” You were going to die anyway. That damn device in your arm was going to kill you any minute. Robin deserved to know… all of them deserved to know… at least you could die that way as your true self: a filthy traitor.

“I have to tell you something.”

opla episode 6 is definitely my favourite so far. here are some thoughts:

the music in this is so good! i'm the kind of person who doesn't often notice the soundtrack unless it's a song i know well (like binks' sake or we are, both of which we've heard snippets of so far), but i did really like the funky beat we got in the luffy vs arlong fight

the character work in this was well done, specifically when it comes to luffy and sanji! one really good way to have emotional impact is to establish a certain aspect of a character's personality, and then subvert it to make a point. like we all know that luffy loves to eat, but then at the beginning of the episode when nami tells him to go to the baratie and he replies that he's not hungry right now? that's really cute. but later on in the episode, when sanji is preparing food for them, and luffy doesn't even notice it, because he needs to properly care for "wada itchy monkey" (ASKDLJASDJK) for zoro, that made my heart melt. he loves his crew SO much

and i really like that sanji was there to see it! it really gives more credence to his decision to leave his father and his whole life behind to sail off with a crew he's known for like two days. he sees luffy struggling with making the tough decisions, he hears luffy say that he would eat both arms and legs to save zoro's life, and he sees potential in him as a captain. he trusts luffy with his dream

also, the relationship between zeff and sanji was subtle but very sweet. sanji says "oregano is for savages" and you kinda laugh, but then you see in the flashback that it's a callback to the very first interaction he ever had with zeff, and it takes on new meaning. you hear them calling each other "shitty old man" and "little eggplant" and at the end of the episode when zeff finally calls sanji by name, it hits you like a punch in the heart. and sanji immediately picks up on that and calls zeff by name too! their love for each other is so obvious, and i really appreciate it.

it was really cool to see nami reading the story of noland to zoro! what a fun little thing, and again, i would love it if we ever got to see the payoff for this!

the live action really benefited from having the context of worldbuilding that's established later on in the series, namely what we learn about fishmen in the sabaody arc. i like that they included those scenes of arlong interacting with the humans, and it was especially cool to see the interplay between him and the fishman that works as the maitre d' for the baratie. it's playing on this whole feeling where when you're a person of colour who takes pride in your heritage, it can feel almost like a betrayal when you see another person from your culture just throwing it all away and adapting to the culture that they live in. there's nothing wrong with either of those choices, but for the person who takes pride in their culture, it feels almost like losing to the racists who want you to "just be normal" (ie assimilate). it's a very complicated and nuanced topic, and i like how they addressed it in the show.

garp's conversation with mihawk was another point of interest for me! i've been joking about it all this time, but i really do think that he's clinging to this idea that if he just manages to apprehend luffy before he reaches the grand line, before any OTHER marines take notice of him, he can still get through to luffy. maybe he can keep his grandson safe. because he knows that luffy already has the odds stacked against him, what with his father being the leader of the revolutionary army, and he doesn't want his grandson to die. then mihawk refuses to bring luffy in, and all garp can do is laugh in despair, and tear his office apart because it feels like everyone in the world is trying to stop him from keeping his grandson safe, and he's running out of TIME as luffy gets embroiled in more and more pirate bullshit and gets closer to the grand line, and he just needs to bring his grandson back. and then koby just pops that bubble by telling garp that luffy would rather die than take orders from anyone else. he'd rather die than be a marine. and garp can't deny it anymore, so he just gives up. and who knows what koby was thinking here. maybe he's still a bit naive. he loves his friend, and he thinks. what. maybe garp will just let luffy go? ignore him because he's not a threat? he's not like OTHER pirates after all. but garp has been a marine for 50 years, and he knows that's not how any of this works. he knows that he did everything he could to stop luffy from being a pirate, and maybe he's feeling a little bitter that luffy never listened to him, maybe he thinks it's what luffy deserves. if luffy wants to be a pirate, then garp will do his fucking damnedest to treat him like a fucking pirate. and later on, you can see koby's despair, because this is not what he wanted, not at all. but what did he want then? this is what i mean when i say i don't know how they're planning on resolving his character arc. because the way things are going now, it would seem to make the most sense for him to become disillusioned with the marines as he realizes they're not what he's been glorifying and idolizing all his life, right? so what happens? maybe it IS a set-up for that kind of story arc, the way it is in the manga. maybe this, plus later during marineford when he stands up to akainu is the setup for the long game. maybe koby's going to become a revolutionary in the endgame of the manga. i think he'd get along well with sabo.

in the aftermath of the arlong fight, when sanji is helping clean up the dining area and he has that conversation with zeff, it becomes obvious that all along, zeff has been trying to push sanji away. zeff demoted him to a waiter because he knows that sanji loves cooking, and zeff wanted him to LEAVE. zeff called his cooking shitty, said it wasn't good enough to serve to guests even though sanji is his sous chef, he was trained by zeff and you know zeff would never accept anything but the best. because zeff is proud of his restaurant, he really is, but he also doesn't want sanji to waste away his life in this little restaurant in the east blue. that's not the future zeff gave up his leg for. and it hurts, but he needs to push sanji out of the nest so that he can fly

the vow that zoro makes to luffy when he wakes up is really nice! i love that zoro seems to have finally accepted that these are his people, these are his family, and he's not trying to hide it anymore. that soft, indulgent little laugh he does when usopp is recounting the fight he totally had with the fishmen is that much sweeter after he's been so aloof and stoic all season. i like seeing him finally loosen up, and it feels so much more deserved now

Summary: Zoro seems to save you from falling in multiple lives

Warnings: angst with fluff ending, maybe rushed ending idk

This is not completely accurate. I did this to the best of my ability I am only on episode 135 so I’m not even at the Sunny so plz be kind if I missed details.

Also I thought this was cute hope you all enjoy.

The moment you met Zoro it was almost like your whole world fell from right under you and you were left grasping for anything to hold onto, desperate to keep him close to you.

The first meeting almost went exactly as you felt, you were falling and he was the only thing you could see in your sights.

You gasped out a sharp breathe, reaching for something to hold onto. You felt your hands flailing around trying to grasp anything when you felt his arm and you clutched onto it for dear life.

His other arm was quick to wrap itself around your waist pulling you closer to him as you death gripped his other. “You okay?” He finally asked when he made sure you were steady on your feet.

With a few more gasps of breathe you swallowed your fear and nodded slightly, whispering out a quiet thank you and he backed away from you after he made sure your grip was loosened on him.

You looked around the ship, taking in the few other crew members that were present. All of them stood in shock at what they had witnessed. “Who the hell pushed you off that boat?” Another guy piped up, with blonde hair you noticed

Your thoughts were all over the place so much was happening way to fast. “What’s your name?” Another man in a straw hat asked as a red head girl brought a blanket over to you and you seemed to notice now how much you were shaking.

“Y/n.” You said softly glancing back at the man who saved you, your head spun with recognition. “I-I was hiding on the ship, they found me.” You motioned behind you as if to say ‘that’s why they pushed me off’

All you could remember was your heart stopping in fear when you realized the captain found you, then you were facing out towards the water close to another boat when you made eye contact with the man and his face held more concern then you would ever understand.

The next moment you felt hands pushing you and his arms saving you.

“I’m Monkey D. Luffy. Captain of this ship.” You nodded slightly, still unsure if they were gonna push you off as well. “This is Nami, Sanji and Ussopp.” Luffy smiled as he introduced his crew.

“I’m Zoro.” The man who saved you said. Your eyes couldn’t seem to leave him. Like something was drawing you to him, it was almost as if you knew this man before.

He seemed just as confused as you, his arms were crossed but his brows were furrowed in concentration trying to remember if he’s ever met you.

“Where are you trying to get to?” Nami piped in and you clutched the blanket tighter around you.

“Anywhere that isn’t this island.” You finally said and Luffy gave you a bright smile as he went over and patted you on the back.

“Well you’re in luck, we just happen to be leaving.” At the same moment the ship started sailing, some of his crew mates slipping away to go make sure everything was good for a long journey. “Though I’m not sure when we will stop next, are you okay with being with us for a while?”

Your eyes found there way back to Zoro who was still standing close by, arms crossed. “Yeah, I’ll help with anything you need.”

You were sat silently next to Zoro on the deck of the Going Merry. The swordsman was laying down, hands behind his head as he snored away.

You looked around at what everyone else was doing. Sanji seemed to be the only one doing anything in the kitchen while the other 3 were huddled around together playing a game of cards.

You lived for these moments with them. The quiet with little bits of laughter and just overall happiness in the air.

When Luffy told you they wouldn’t be stopping for awhile he wasn’t lying. Days had turned into weeks and weeks turned into a few months. But food was running low. You knew they would be stopping at an island shortly, the very same one you would be leaving them.

“You don’t have to leave you know?” You jumped when Zoros voice broke through the silence. “Your thinking to loud I couldn’t sleep.”

You smiled at that. He’d never admit he had woken up awhile ago you were to deep in thought to notice him watching you. “That’s what we agreed on.” You said softly and he sat up, shifting his weapons to move them in front of him.

“That was months ago you can’t actually think we were just gonna let you go?” He unsheathed one and started cleaning them carefully, one by one. “You’re part of the crew.”

“I can’t stay.” You sigh, watching him work. “I don’t think I realized how long Luffy meant when he said it.”

Zoro watched you from the corner of his eye, “why?” You looked up at him in confusion. “Tell me why you have to leave. What’s out there that you think you need to protect us from?”

“I-“ you paused, “just stuff from the past I can’t shake. I don’t want to Involve any of you, I never meant to get close to any of you.”

He scoffed. “You didn’t involve us. I involved myself when I saved your ass from dying, now you owe me.” He sheathed his first sword and pulled out the next. “I saved you. So In return you stay here, with us. With me.”

You watched him silently, eyes widened. He really wanted you to stay. You understood how he was feeling, you both never seemed to want to be to far from the other. But still..

Almost as if sensing your hesitation he stopped cleaning and grabbed your hand. “I promise you I can take care of myself. We all can. So stop worrying for us and promise me you’ll stay.”

You felt your hand tingle where he held onto you, “okay. Okay I promise.” He smiled a smile you would never get tired of seeing and pulled away from you to continue cleaning his swords.

The Sunny rocked gently on the waves. The sun was just starting to rise and you knew everyone else was probably starting to get up.

You knew you should probably get up and start helping around the ship but how could you when Zoro was sleeping so peacefully next to you?

He was facing you, his arm loosely thrown over your waist. You were laid on your side as your eyes scanned over almost every feature he had. Your fingers traced gently across his jawline and over his scar on his eye before they traced along his earrings, admiring the way they just laid gently on his neck.

“What’re you doing?” He grumbled, his arm pulling you tighter against him. Your hand fell just behind his head where you started to play with the ends of his hair. You could feel his goosebumps start running down his arms. “Your being to noisy.”

You laughed, “I haven’t even said anything.” You smiled as he finally opened his eye to look at you. “Goodmorning.”

“It’s to early.” He sighed in annoyance before he tried to turn over and go back to sleep but he couldn’t seem to look away from you, not when you were looking at him with so much love. “What are you even doing?” He asked again

“Just admiring.” You whispered softly. The two of you sat in silence as you continued to play with his hair and he watched you closely. “Hey.”

He hummed

“Do you believe in past lives?” He raised an eyebrow at you and let out a questioning ‘huh?’ You pulled your hand away from his hair with a sigh. “Sorry it’s stupid.”

You went to pull away from him but his arm held you in place. “No keep going I want to hear what you want to say.” You smiled as his determination.

“It’s just when I first met you, there was something about you that felt..familiar.” Your eyebrows scrunched in concentration as you tried to find the right words. “Something about you I just knew immediately I was meant to be with you.”

Zoro stayed silence while he studied you. He could see the look in yours eyes and he knew that look. This was something that must’ve been on your mind for awhile. “I dunno about past lives but I do know we were meant to be together.” He finally said.

“If you did believe in past lives..do you think we were together in those lives?” Your question seemed to take him back. He stared at you for a moment before nodding slightly.

“I’m sure we were. But it doesn’t matter,” he leaned forward to kiss your head before he rolled out of bed. “This is our present and it’s better then any past lives we may have lived together.”

You stared at his back in awe, “come on we better go before Luffy eats all the food.” You slowly smiled at the man before humming in agreement and following after him.

“Alright, everyone meet back here before sundown!” Sanji called out to everyone before they started departing from the Sunny to go into town.

This was the first town you had stopped at in weeks and you were hoping they had some supplies you’ve been looking for, for awhile. “Are you sure you don’t want me to go with you?” Zoro asked you for the third time.

Zoro watched you leave with a frown, he knew you could handle yourself but still, he couldn’t help but worry.

You split off from the rest the moment you entered town. Nami stayed with you for a few moments before she could hear the sounds of Luffy causing trouble and she split off.

You really didn’t mind, you only wanted to go to one shop. You had been looking for this piece to upgrade your weapon for weeks but no one ever seemed to have it.

Right when you were about to turn a corner a body collided with yours making you take a few steps back to balance yourself. “I’m so sor-“ your sentence cut short when your eyes landed on who was in front of you.

“Hm?” The man turned to you, staring you down. “You look familiar.” He had said and you took a step back, laughing awkwardly.

“I get that a lot. Im sorry for running into you!” You went to turn away before you felt him grab onto your wrist tightly.

“I do know you.” He smirked his eyes shinning in excitement. “The captain has been looking for you, I’m sure I’ll get a big reward for turning you over to him.”

He started pulling you with him as he weaved his way around the town. You struggled, pulling, scratching but he didn’t even seem to notice. “Let me go!” You yelled and he just yanked you harder. When you saw the Captain your eyes widened in fear and you became desperate but the grip wouldn’t loosen up.

“Captain!” The man called and your heart fell to the floor when he turned to the voice and your eyes connected.

Zoro sat on the deck of the sunny, taking deep breaths as he furrowed his eyebrows in concentration as if trying to force himself to meditate. It should’ve been easy to do with the waves rocking the ship lightly but with a sigh he finally opened his eye, giving up.

He’d never tell you this but he was no longer able to train peacefully unless you were somewhere he knew you were safe, usually by his side where he could protect you in a moments notice.

He hasn’t been able to be a peace for awhile now not since the day he was separated from his entire crew for too long, now he’s too scared the same will happen and he can’t let it especially when he just got everyone back, when he just got you back.

“Ah might as well go into town.” He sighed out, jumping from the ship but as he was about to start the walk to town his crew started appearing one by one in the distance.

They all started getting closer when he noticed you weren’t with any of them. “Where’s y/n?” He asked his hand already on his swords.

“I’m sure she’s just running behind she should be back in a few minutes.” Nami said while she pointed where Luffy and Ussopp could put down her bags.

So he waited. Everyone was on the ship putting everything away and still there was no sign of you. “She said she would be back before sundown.” Zoro mumbled when the sun finally disappeared out of sit.

“Still no Y/n?” Chopper called, eyebrows furrowed in worry when Zoro shook his head. “Should we look for her-?”

Right as chopper asked a loud explosion went off in the distance near the other side of the town and Zoro wasted no time taking off, letting Chopper call for everyone.

He needed to get to you.

Zoro felt like his world was burning down, which it almost was. Everything around him was engulfed in flames practically cutting his crew off of any chance to escape.

Though he wouldn’t be leaving until he had you back in his arms.

He was breathing heavily, sword held firmly between his teeth and the other two gripped in his hands. He was exhausted, this guy was stronger then he looked.

Nami was on her knees behind him, clutching her arm while Sanji was stood protectively in front of her and chopper was next to her tending her wounds.

Luffy was stood next to him with a death glare aimed at the man who had you by the throat. You were scratching at his arm to the point he was bleeding but he didn’t seem to care he only laughed in your face.

“Let her go!” Luffy shouted while Usopp loaded his weapon and Robin got ready. “She didn’t do anything!”

“Didn’t do anything?” The man barked out a harsh laugh, “she sunk a ship filled with men and all of our treasure. She has to pay those berries back with her life, which she’s now worth.”

“She told me that story once.” Nami spoke up, “she sunk your ship after you burned down her village.” She seethed.

“I-I didn’t-“ you choked, Zoros clutch tightening. “I didn’t kill any of your men.” You finally said gulping in breathes when he loosened his hold enough for you to speak.

He nodded, “I killed them.” Luffys eyes widened even more in pure fury. “After you sunk our ship with the treasure you snuck on board the main ship to kill me. My men were foolish and they let you get away so I killed them. So really, it was your fault.”

He tightened his hold on you again and pulled out his sword. “You caused there deaths.” He seethed and everything after seemed like slow motion.

In the next moments the man pulled his sword back and Zoro watched your eyes widen in horror, while Usopp shot an exploding bullet. The explosion went off in the man’s face and his hold loosened as he dropped you to the ground and stumbled back in shock.

Zoro was running after that. Everything hurt but he didn’t care, Luffy and everyone else could take care of this guy but he needed to get to you.

When he got to you he was staring down at you in disbelief. You were on your side with blood pooling under you, the bloody sword still clutched in the mans hand. He fell to his knees and layed a shaky hand on your arm, pulling you to roll over. The moment he did he let out and anguished yell. “Chopper!” He yelled as he gathered you in his arms, rocking you back and forth. “Chopper!!”

Everything felt cold. Cold and dark. You could faintly hear Zoro yelling before everything went completely still. You thought you might be dead but then you saw a faint light ahead of you.

Everything in your body told you not to go towards it, but your feet carried you anyway. When you got to the light a sort of softness engulfed you.

You looked around to see you were in a small house, a very old one. One that didn’t even seem to be from your time. In front of you was a man with his back turned. Something about him seemed so familiar.

Before you could understand who it was your feet were carrying you towards him. When you were right behind him your arms wrapped themselves around his waist. You felt a sense of deja vu.

When you pulled away from him you went to take a step but tripped over whatever tools he had layed out beside him. The man turned quick and grabbed onto you. He mouthed something but you couldn’t hear anything. Even if you wanted to you were to distracted by the familiar face that stared back at you. It was Zoro.

He mouthed something again something that looked like your name. “Y/n!” Finally you could hear him but it wasn’t from the one in front of you. Suddenly you were thrown in darkness again and you could hear your Zoro yelling out to you but your body was already pulling you another direction.

This time it was bright outside in what seemed to be summer time. Everything this time was bleary like it hasn’t actually happened yet. That’s when you see the familiar green hair in the distance, you want to go to him but everything suddenly became so cold again and your body finally succumbed to the darkness.

“Y/n!” Zoro yelled watching hopefully as your eyes flutter open. You’re pale, all life drained from your body as you gaze up at him.

You could see the tears in his eyes when he looked down at you but all you could bring yourself to do was smile softly at him. “We’ll be okay.” You whispered and he narrowed his eyes. “I’ll see you again.”

“What?” He held onto you tighter when your eyes started closing again, chopper sitting next to you helpless. “Hey, don’t close your eyes! Y/n!”

But it was to late. Your eyes closed and your hand fell limp at your side.

Dont wake me I’m not dreaming

There was no sound other then the waves crashing onto the shore. Everything was dull. Luffy and the rest of the crew made a raft while Zoro held onto your body as long as they allowed before Sanji came to take you away from him.

They stood next to the Sunny and watched Zoro. He stood next to the raft and looked out at the never ending sea.

He took a deep breathe and kneeled down next to the raft, his hand coming up to soothe over your hair while he traced every feature you had as if to commit you to every memory he could ever possibly have.

“You were right.” He whispered, “you were the love of my life in every life.” His eye clouded with tears so he layed his head down on his arm to try and stop it.

“If we found each other in all of those lives, I’ll find you in the next one. I swear to you on my life.” He muttered, lifting his head slightly to lean forward and press one final kiss to the side of your head. “I love you.”

Finally, he stood up and nodded at his crew. They all came forward and helped push the raft into the ocean while Zoro lit it one fire and they all watched you leave the world with tears in there eyes.

(In another life)

Zoro was walking next to Luffy as they looked at all the shops. The summer breeze was warm which felt nice to bask in for once.

Luffy was running up to every window in excitement when you came out of one. You both didn’t notice each other at first until you looked towards the green hair, which distracted you.

When you walked past him you tripped. He was quick to turn to you as he grabbed onto you and your grasped his arm tightly. His other arm wrapped around your waist and he pulled you closer to him to secure you. The entire thing felt oddly familiar.

“Are-“ he felt like his heart was going to leap out of his chest when your eyes connected finally and the puzzle pieces clicked in place. He was staring at you with as much intensity as you. “Y/n?” He almost whispered out, scared you were fake.

You took a moment to understand and then smiled, bringing your hand to cup his cheek. “Zoro,” you had tears in your eyes. “You found me.”

He pulled you closer and leaned his forehead against yours. Tears were falling from his eyes but he had the biggest smile on his face.

“Dummy. I promised you I would.”

You choked out a laugh and brought him closer, kissing him with as much love of you could possibly muster.

Luffy was long gone somewhere and at this point, long forgotten.

-Amatsuki Y/N decided to stay in the future without her sister upon meeting a friend’s son.

Chapter 11: A Dream Within a Dream

You looked at the newspaper in your hand, tears flooding your eyes as you read the headline:

"Rookie Pirate, Son of Revolutionary Leader Dragon, Monkey D. Luffy, to Be Executed in Marineford"

Your heart sank at the devastating news. The name "Marineford" brought back a rush of painful memories – memories of loss, sacrifice, and the war that had changed your life forever. Now, it seemed history was about to repeat itself, and you couldn't bear the thought of going through this war again.

As you looked at Ace, you could see the happiness in his eyes, unaware of the devastating news that awaited him. Your heart ached at the thought of what Luffy had done in the past to save him, and you couldn't bear the idea of leaving him now.

Torn between the duty to protect Luffy and the desire to stay by Ace's side, you felt overwhelmed with emotions. You knew that Luffy had risked everything to rescue Ace from execution, and now it was your turn to do the same for Luffy. But going through this war meant one thing and you knew it, you're going to lose Ace again.

As you struggled with your decision, Ace noticed the distress in your eyes and gently cupped your face in his hands. "Y/N, what's wrong?" he asked, concern etched on his face.

You took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Ace," you began, your voice trembling. "Luffy... he's in trouble... They plan on executing him."

Ace's eyes widened in shock, and you could see the worry n his gaze. "What? I have to go help him! I-I have to tell pops."

Marco's understanding gaze provided a sense of comfort amidst the turmoil of emotions swirling inside you. Only he and Edward knew the full extent of your past attempts to save Ace, the countless failures, and the pain that had haunted you. Marco grabs Ace's hand.

"Ace... We can't let you go," Marco said firmly, his voice tinged with worry. The crew looked on in shock at Marco's interference, unsure of how Ace would react to such a bold statement.

"M-Marco, Luffy is my brother. Y-You're not going to forbid me to save him... Are you?"

"A-Ace, I understand how much Luffy means to you, but we can't ignore the dangers," Marco continued, his grip on Ace's hand tightening. "You know what happened to Y/N in the past."

Ace's expression wavered, torn between his determination to save Luffy and the genuine worry of what his choice might do to you. He turned to you, seeking reassurance and guidance in this difficult moment.

Tears welled up in your eyes as you stepped closer, gently placing your hand on Ace's cheek, your heart heavy with emotion. "Ace, I can't bear to lose you," you said softly, your voice filled with love and vulnerability. "I've seen you die too many times, and each time it breaks me. I can't let that happen again."

"Y/N, please its my brother... I can't not do something." His voice trembled as he leaned into your touch.

You looked up at Ace, the memories of Luffy's tireless attempts to save Ace flooded your mind. The countless times he put his life on the line, faced insurmountable odds, and pushed his limits to the brink just to bring Ace back to safety.

With tears in your eyes, you clung tightly to Ace's hand and nodded in agreement. "I'll help you save Luffy, no matter what it takes, we'll bring him back."

As the ship approached Marineford, you couldn't help but be amazed by the number of allies who had rallied to fight alongside the Straw Hat crew. The sight was overwhelming and filled your heart with gratitude and awe. Countless pirate crews and individuals had come together, united by the shared respect and admiration they had for Luffy.

As you looked around the chaotic battlefield, you couldn't help but notice the presence of many unfamiliar faces. They were individuals and pirate crews you had never encountered before.

As your ship came closer, the battlefield faltered.

"I-Is that the Whitebeard Pirates?!!"

Ace quickly runs to the bow of the ship, "LUFFY!!!!!!!"

You'd think the reunion between the brothers would be the focal point of the battlefield but, a distant scream from the sky suddenly echoed through the air. The sound sent shivers down your spine, and memories of your first attempt to save Ace came rushing back. You couldn't shake the feeling of déjà vu, the eerie familiarity of the scene unfolding before you.

"YOU STUPID MOSS HEAD!!!!"

"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ZORO!!!"

"I SHOULD'VE JUST GONE TO MARINEFORD INSTEAD!!!!"

"I KNEW JOINING YOU GUYS WAS STUPID!!!!!!"

As you looked up to the sky, you couldn't believe your eyes. Descending from the heavens were the same people you had encountered on your first attempt – the Straw Hat Pirates and Dragon, Luffy's father replacing you and Luffy.

"Its the Revolutionary Leader, Dragon!!!"

The Marines were caught off guard by the unexpected arrival of the Whitebeard Pirates and the Impel Down Escapees, led by Dragon. The addition of two powerful forces on the side of the rookie pirate, Monkey D. Luffy, tipped the scales of battle significantly.

Finally, the two older brothers reached the execution platform, where Luffy stood defiantly, his eyes locked onto them. The three siblings took no time in removing the chains on Luffy. You felt a rush of relief seeing Luffy liberated, but your mission was far from over. The most dreaded part of this war awaited—the escape.

The scene played out similarly to the past, and you couldn't shake the feeling of déjà vu. The sight of Luffy standing tall, despite his injuries, and the fierce determination in his eyes reminded you of the countless times you had witnessed this moment before. You knew what was coming next, and the weight of the past failures bore down on you.

The battlefield erupted into chaos, and the war intensified. But you had achieved your immediate goal—to get away, escape. Now, you fought alongside your allies, united in your determination to protect what you held dear.

Just as you thought victory was within reach, history repeated itself. The tides of battle shifted, and the unexpected happened once again. The enemy unleashed a devastating counterattack, catching your group off guard.

Akainu's menacing presence loomed before the brothers, and you felt a surge of fear and determination coursing through you. This was the moment that had haunted you in all your previous attempts, the moment that led to Ace's tragic demise.

Sabo's protective instinct kicked in, and without hesitation, he shielded Luffy from Akainu's deadly attack. Your heart pounded in your chest as you watched Sabo about to take the hit meant for his younger brother.

But just as Sabo was about to save Luffy, Ace stepped forward to protect both of them. He stood tall, blocking Akainu's attack. Memories of the past flashed before your eyes, and you knew that you let history repeat itself.

"Not again... This was supposed to be different..." Tears slowly trickle down your cheek.

You see Ace slowly turn his head to you arm raised trying to reach you. You walked towards them, your heart heavy with emotions. The battlefield was silent, and all eyes were on them.

Your walk slowly turning into a desperate run. Your heart sank as you saw Ace falling to his brothers' arms, his life fading away once again. The scene was painfully familiar, and a wave of grief washed over you.

Your crew stood frozen in place, their eyes locked on you. They knew the significance of this moment. No one dared to intervene or say a word.

You knelt down beside Ace, his brothers clutching him tightly. The anguish in their eyes mirrored the pain in your heart. You gently placed a hand on Ace's cheek, brushing away a strand of hair from his face.

"Ace," you whispered, your voice shaking. "I told you... Y-You..."

Sabos eyes were red with tears, and Sabo's grip on Ace tightened.

"A-Ace," Luffy choked out.

"Y/N, I'm sorry," Ace managed to say, his voice strained.

"I told you, I didn't want you to do this..."

Despite his weakened state, Ace managed a weak laugh as he leaned into your touch. He held your hand in his, grateful for your presence in this crucial moment. He looked over at Sabo, his brother whom he had reunited with not so long ago.

"Hey pretty," he teased, a faint smile on his lips, "Can you not scold me? You're making me look bad."

"You're being stupid." You laughed sadly.

"Sabo, Luffy," he said, "this is Y/N."

Sabo smiled softly, understanding the significance of your presence. "Its nice to meet you," he said, "Thank you for being there for Ace."

You smiled through your tears, touched by Sabo's kindness even in the midst of the chaos. "It's nice to meet you too, Sabo," you replied, your voice still quivering. "Ace has told me a lot about you."

"Luffy, have you forgotten... the manners class? You're supposed to... greet her."

Luffy, though deeply distressed, tried to follow the manners class he had been taught, even in this dire moment.

"Sabo, why aren't you calling for help?!" Luffy looked at his brother, "W-We need to save Ace..."

"Luffy, stop." Ace mutters weakly.

"Ace, you need to get treated!"

Ace took a deep breath before speaking, closing his eyes and smiling. "Hey.. you guys... I want you both to know something..." He chukled to himself, "Y/N, is the most... amazing person I know." He glanced at you, a soft and affectionate look in his eyes. "She's the strogest... and kindest person... I've met. She's fearless in the face of danger, and determined."

Luffy and Sabo exchanged glances, listening to Ace's heartfelt words about you. You smile at his praises.

"She's been trying... to save me," Ace continued. "And, I guess.. I'm stubborn. But she... she doesn't stop."

"Y/N, is the woman I love," Ace said, his voice becoming softer. "I want her to be happy, and I'm glad to have her in my life. Can you both... Help her?"

Ace's words had brought tears to your eyes, and you blinked them away, trying to compose yourself. You felt overwhelmed by the love and affection he had expressed for you, and you were grateful to have him in your life as well.

Ace's placed a gentle kiss on your hand, he looked into your eyes with a mixture of sadness and determination. His voice was gentle, yet firm, as he spoke.

"Y/N, you don't need... to keep suffering like this," he said, his thumb gently wiping away a tear from your cheek. "I don't want you to go through... all this pain and heartache for my sake."

You tried to speak, but your voice caught in your throat. You knew that Ace was right, that your attempts to save him had only brought you more suffering. But you couldn't bear the thought of giving up on him, of letting go of the hope that you could change the future.

"I can't just... let go, Ace," you whispered, your voice trembling. "I love you, and I can't lose you."

Ace's expression softened even more, and he cupped your face in his hands, making sure you looked into his eyes. "I love you too," he said, his voice unwavering. "And that's... exactly why I can't let you keep going through this... I... want you to live... your life without being haunted by the past... How many times have you been going through this?"

"That doesn't matter," you said, tears streaming down your face.

"Y/N," his thumb gently wiping away a tear from your cheek. "How many?"

"482 times." You admit leaning to his touch. "But Ace, I can't just abandon you," you replied, tears streaming down your cheeks. "I can't give up on you."

Ace's gaze softened, and he cupped your face in his hands. "You're not abandoning me," he said gently. "You've already done so much for me, more than I could ever ask for. And now, it's time for you to live your life and find happiness."

As you looked at Sabo, you could see the sadness in his eyes. He too understood the weight of the situation and the difficult choices that had to be made. Sabo had witnessed the depth of your love for Ace and how much you had sacrificed to save him.

"Ace," he said gently, "You don't have to worry okay? We'll take care of Y/N."

Ace's smile brightened at Sabo's words, and he chuckled softly. "You know, knowing you two... idiot brother of mine," he teased, glancing at you with affection. "I can already see... she's probably the one... who's going to take care of you two..."

Sabo chuckled, a hint of warmth in his eyes. "I'm counting on you, Y/N," he said. "We'll make sure to keep each other in check."

Luffy grinned, albeit with a tinge of sadness in his eyes. "I guess I have a sister now," he said cheerfully. "We're gonna have so much fun together, I can already tell!"

Ace watched as his brothers welcomed you into their family, and a sense of happiness filled his heart. He reached out and gently took your hand in his, intertwining your fingers together. The warmth of his touch sent a comforting sensation through your body, and you couldn't help but smile back at him.

Seeing Ace smile, even in the midst of the chaos and uncertainty, brought a sense of peace to your heart. "I don't want you... to forget me," Ace continued, his voice tinged with sadness. "But I want you... to be happy, even if it's without me..."

You held Ace's hand tightly, interlocking your fingers with his. "Ace, how could I ever forget you?" you replied, your voice filled with love and sincerity. "You're a part of me, and no matter what happens, you'll always be in my heart."

Ace's smile softened, but his eyes glistened with unshed tears. "I know, but... I don't want my memory to burden you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I want you... to live a full... and happy life, Y/N, even if... I'm not there with you."

You smile, your tear slowly falling. "I have Sabo and Luffy to keep watch. You don't have to worry."

Ace looked at you with a mixture of emotions in his eyes – love, sadness, and a hint of relief. He knew you were strong and capable, and he trusted his brothers to take care of you. Yet, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness at the thought of being apart from you.

"I know," he said softly, his voice tinged with melancholy. "I trust them, and I trust you... I know you'll take care of each other...."

"I love you..." You remind him.

He gave your hand a gentle squeeze, cherishing the warmth of your touch. His strength slowly faded and a smile remained on his face.

As the light from Ace's eyes faded, a profound sadness washed over you, threatening to consume you entirely.

"Always..." You cried.

You felt a mix of emotions swirling inside you, and you couldn't find the strength to stand on your own. But just as you began to crumble under the weight of your grief, you felt strong arms wrap around you, holding you close.

It was Sabo and Luffy, Ace's brothers, who held you tightly, grieving with you as tears flowed freely from all of your eyes. Together, you formed a circle of support, leaning on each other for strength and comfort. In that moment, you knew you weren't alone in your pain.

Sabo's grip on your shoulder was firm, his silent presence offering you a sense of stability. Luffy clung to your side, sharing in your sorrow, his simple presence a reminder that you were all in this together.

You wept together, finding solace in each other's arms. The loss of Ace was a devastating blow, but you knew you had to be strong for each other. @kiemimi wanted to know my opinion and brainrot on the OPLA characters so here some of them :

-> Akagami no Shanks

No brainrot but very pleased with his actor. Ngl I was a bit skeptical when he first appeared as Shanks. Because this is not how I imagined him to look like irl, and I saw multiple people complain that he didn't look handsome lol. But now I can't see him being portrayed by someone else. He's just him. And he looks very hot when he saves Luffy. 👌🏻

You're in for a ride with him. He's an open book yet there's many things you don't know about him. "You didn't ask" basically. He's really chill and likes to see you laugh and smile, seeing you sad really breaks his heart.

BARK BARK BARK. As said in an older post, I didn't recognize the actor and was shocked to see that I already knew him. I saw his face without makeup and found him familiar. It renewed a brainrot with an old character (deke), lol.

There's always something happening. There's rarely ever a fully boring day. And he loves that you're by his side no matter what. He might want to abandon you to save his ass but always end up taking you with him because he doesn't have the heart to actually abandon you. He likes your attention, but you better be careful with it because he might go overboard very easily. And sometimes he's too lost in it to care about what you really want and don't want.

No brainrot. I have some trouble with his eyes. I can't tell if I would've preferred them without contacts. But other than that he slayed his role, very cunty.

Maybe the calmest relationship of your life. He doesn't talk much but he still values communication because it's important. He trusts you and likes to see you happy, mentally cheering for you.

No brainrot. The only thing is that he doesn't stretch himself as much as he should. But I can't remember if he used his stretchiness as much as he does now (grabbing someone from afar, launching himself…) otherwise Iñaki is a good luffy. Love him. Knew him from The Imperfects so I was happy to see him again.

Too trusting. And too naive. Believe any words that come from your mouth, but you better not play too much with it because he's going to repeat it. Like Shanks, he likes to make you laugh and see you happy. Seeing his crew in a good mood is important to him.

No brainrot, surprisingly ? I love his anime/manga vers. so idk why his live action isn't clicking. I remember being 15 and fighting for him with a friend lol

Very loyal, not that the others aren't. But you better not betray him. He won't take it kindly. Very trusting as well. If you're ever accused of something you didn't do, he won't need to hear you to know if it's true or fake. And even if it was true, he's going to be like, "You had your reasons *shrugs*."

Don't have anything to say, good actor choice. Love him as usopp. Can't wait to see more of him in season 2, honestly. Which we would see him as sogeking/sniperking.

He definitely hides behind you but doesn't back down to protect you. Likes to make you laugh. But the more you laugh, the more he might lie to make you laugh even more. Down to try whatever drink you take. If he knows he can't take someone down, he'll run to you for protection. If you can't take them down either, well... You're both running.

I don't know why they got rid of the eyebrows. He's really sweet. I love him more than the anime/manga because he's less of a pervert and he's smoother about it. Taz did an amazing job. He's really dedicated from what I've heard, doing his own stunts, learning how to cook…

He loves flirting with you even if he's already dating you. He's really biased when it comes to you. He trusts you with his entire being, heart, and soul. Very gentle lover that makes you breakfast in bed. Or breakfast in the hammock.

One Piece NoPixel

Ever since the 4.0 launch of NoPixel (a private GTA Online roleplay server), my husband and I have become OBSESSED with the Yuno Sykk storyline going on.

Considering Sykkuno has been streaming NoPixel for roughly 8hrs every day, there's no way I can fully keep up, so my insomniac husband tends to give me recaps the following day. As he's telling me the story and is trying to get me to understand the relationship ties between characters I had an epiphany: Yuno is just Luffy from One Piece.

People already joke that Sykkuno has "plot armor" and is the "main character", so his GTA character Yuno being Luffy already kind of fits. Plus, both Yuno and Luffy are ADHD/Autistic balls of chaos that are also unintentionally beams of charisma that attracts just about everyone to their side. It doesn't matter how insane the plan is, if Luffy/Yuno says it people will follow through. You also have the fun of wondering if Luffy/Yuno is just insane with godly amounts of luck that allows their plan to work out, or if they are secretly geniuses that had already calculated everything in the background and the plan worked because of that discrete planning (or if it's a happy combo of the two). Luffy and Yuno are both almost impossibly optimistic and goofy, and people INSTANTLY know to take these boys seriously the second they become serious. If Luffy/Yuno stop smiling, you KNOW shit is about to go down! Also, Luffy/Yuno is INSANELY loyal and protective of his found family. On multiple occasions, Yuno has been informed that if he were to betray the speaker that would kill their last bit of faith in humanity, because if they know ANYTHING it's that Yuno doesn't lie and doesn't betray. Much like Luffy.

OK, so Yuno Sykk is Monkey D. Luffy (If Yuno's name wasn't just Sykkuno's I wouldn't be surprised if he had included the D. initial).

I then thought about those around Yuno. While the personalities don't work one-to-one, my husband and I were able to map a lot of Yuno's friends onto Luffy's simply based on relationship ties.

First is obvious. Yuno, through the 3.0 adoption chaos, ended up the adopted grandson of cop (and eventual Police Commissioner) Sam Baas. So, Baas is Garp. The fish-name connection is just a bonus.

Next up is the inspiration to both start an illegal lifestyle and to become the best possible at it. A pseudo-father-figure and mentor. The man whose blessings and pride in Luffy/Yuno is just about everything to the boy: Lang Buddha as Yuno's Shanks.

Luffy/Yuno couldn't get as far as he does without his true ride-or-die. The man who is loyal to a fault. Who will gladly give his life to not only save his best friend and brother, but also to simply lift him higher, if that's what's requested of him. A man who will smile as he participates in mass murder, and whose homicidal tendencies are surprisingly calmed when around Luffy/Yuno: Raymond Romanov as Yuno's Roronoa Zoro

The personalities don't really match, and YMMV when it comes to this ship, but 4.0 brought about Yuno's "relationship arc". This introduced us to a woman that Yuno loves spending time with, is very protective of, and joys in making her smile. She is there to comfort Yuno, but understands that he needs to do things his way and on his own sometimes. Yuno keeps saying that they're only best friends, and that may be true. He may honestly have no romantic interest in her, despite her obvious romantic interest in him. Even so, she's His Person and he wants to be with her and protect her as much as possible. If there's one person that Luffy/Yuno cares about that you DO NOT mess with, it's her. Ladies and gents, meet Yuno's Nami: Lottie Mae

On the flipside, we have a woman who started off as an enemy, but was instantly charmed by the lengths Yuno would go to in order to help someone that had threatened him. Someone who has family who viciously protects her. Someone who is completely smitten despite Yuno not really giving as many "I want to be in a romantic relationship" vibes as he does with Lottie. Someone who clearly has a jealous streak to her. The main person people seem to ship with Luffy/Yuno behind Nami/Lottie. Our own Tsundere Queen: Gigi Costello as Yuno's Boa Hancock

Next up is a man who is a more serious leader who doesn't approve of Luffy/Yuno's shenanigans, but he also can't deny the results, so he begrudgingly gives Luffy/Yuno free rein. He still tries to talk some sense into Luffy/Yuno and his friends, and they do listen to him on occasion, but those moments are few and far between. He also can't ignore Luffy/Yuno's charisma, and, in spite of himself, he's equally drawn in to the King of Chaos. Congratulations, Tommy T. You are Yuno's Trafalgar Law.

We then have someone who is older. Someone who is a bit of a mentor, but also would gladly follow Luffy/Yuno. Someone who was once a leader himself, but has since disbanded his own crew (or, at least, left them). Someone who is incredibly protective of Luffy/Yuno, but also understands that the kid can hold his own (for the most part). Someone who can't fathom Luffy/Yuno ever betraying anyone. Someone who is a master a steering??? This one is a little bit of a stretch, but my husband believes that Tony Corleone is Yuno's Jimbe.

Finally, we have someone who is a pseudo-ally to Luffy/Yuno, almost begrudgingly. Someone whose goals differ from Luffy/Yuno's and those differing goals caused tension for a bit before the two decided to break off from each other. Someone who has a sort of 1920s gangsta vibe with his underground gambling and mob-like connections. A man whose main goal deep down is to find a family of his own. Marty Banks as Yuno's Capone Bege

My husband also thinks that Benji Ramos would be Yuno's Sanji, mostly due to the incessant flirting with little-to-no success. Also, Mickey Sinclaire as Usopp due to Mickey being a cowardly schemer and master liar. I'm still on the fence for both of those. This list was largely mapping parallels on how these characters relate to Luffy vs how they relate to Yuno. The Benji and Mickey parallels are more about their personalities pairing with One Piece characters.

I think that will have to be a different list, though.

watches you like a hawk all the time so he can save you from getting a crack if you ever slip or something.

in summary, he's cautious and protective with you, gets real soft too so you won't get damage in any way when you're with him.

ㅤ⠀The days after the battle at Enies Lobby were difficult. Robin kept mostly to herself- out of shame, out of guilt, out of the fear that she was simply too much of a burden to bear. It wasn't that she wanted to be alone, necessarily; old habits simply died hard. Her hands shook when she held anything, memories on a constant repetitive state within her mind, things she'd thought she'd shoved down deep enough to not have to worry about them.

ㅤ⠀Apparently, she hadn't.

ㅤ⠀Luffy's words nearly gave her a heart attack, if she were to be honest. She had ( wrongly ) assumed she was alone on the deck of the Thousand Sunny this early in the morning, watching as the sun slowly crept over the horizon. Her gaze shifted up and over, studying her Captain. He'd risked his life for her- they had all risked their lives for her. To save her. A life debt was owed, now- to them all, but certainly to Luffy.

ㅤ⠀❝Who knew that Monkey D. Luffy had such a thoughtful side to him, hm?❞ Came the gentle tease, though her voice warbled near the end. Clearing her throat, she looked away, forcing the tears that danced along her lash line to recede. ❝… You aren't wrong, though. My childhood was… Difficult.❞

Jorgé's real name is Joseph, but everyone calls him Jorgé because that's what Pacifica called Soos back in the day.

The idea of Soos and Melody having seven kids came from the Mabel's Guide to Dating short, where Soos says he'd ideally have seven kids for each day of the week to love.

For the epilogue scene of Ride on Shooting Star, Stan Jr. is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch (Ichigo Kurosaki, Adam Park, Izaya Orihara, Giyu Tomioka, Lelouch vi Britannia, Rossiu Adai) and Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamado, Ken Kaneki, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, Cuphead, Tai Yagami, 9S), while the older version of Abby is voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard (Erza Scarlet, Monkey D. Luffy, Princess Hibana, Marie Mjolnir, Riza Hawkeye, Momo Yaoyorozu) and Nana Mizuki (Ann Takamaki, Hinata Hyuga, Tamao Tamamura, Lan Fan, Michella Watch, Cheelai, Sana Sunomiya).

At some point prior to the beginning of Fooly Falls 2, Waddles unfortunately passed away from old age. He lived a pretty long life too, so Mabel made sure her precious piggy would be forever immortalized in a stuffed pig she made for Tyrone, which is where Waddles II came from.

I recently learned that according to Alex Hirsch in 2020, the 45th President of the United States in Gravity Falls was Old Man McGucket. Thus, I shall retcon my Donald Trump joke to be that Trump still became president after McGucket and Joe Biden but before Maki Kitaki, making him president between 2025 and 2029.

Dipper and Pacifica maintained a stable romance with each other throughout their teenage years until they were 18 years old, when Pacifica realized that Dipper still held a torch for Wendy and didn't hold it against him. Besides, she planned on dating Mabel just in case.

Ezra Chiu was the product of Candy experimenting on an anonymous sperm donation to effectively create her own super-soldier, as I revealed in A FLCL Christmas in Gravity Falls.

As I implied in Ride on Shooting Star, Haruko came from a broken home on her dystopian home planet of Wasprus, but it wasn't always that way. Wasprus was yet another planet enslaved by Medical Mechanica to do their bidding, and Haruko's mother Rihanna Raharu led the resistance against the company's top brass to free their home planet from MM's tyranny. Unfortunately, the rebellion failed and Rihanna was later killed by her drunken husband Reagan. All of this shall be further elaborated upon in Rick and Haruko.

Speaking of which, when Haruko was saved from Wasprus's destruction by Atomsk thanks to the timely intervention of Rick Sanchez, back when he was a member of the Flesh Curtains alongside Birdperson and Squanchy, that was when Haruko's obsession with Atomsk began developing. This, combined with Rick being as bad an influence on her as he would eventually become with Morty, would cause Haruko to betray Rick during an undercover mission as an officer of the Galactic Space Patrol Brotherhood. In the process, a Naked Focal Point sucks Haruko up and drops her off in Gravity Falls, where she would meet a younger version of Commander Amarao. The rest will be revealed soon.

Gwen is a skilled golf player, no doubt she was trained by her aunts Mabel and Pacifica, and also plays tennis with Arnold. She also shares her father's love of BABBA and has caught him singing Disco Girl only to start singing with him.

Much like Wendy before her, Leia also has her own friend group of rambunctious teenagers. We got Robbie V and Tambry's twin daughters Robin & Roxie Valentino, who are cheerleaders at Gravity Falls High School and the polar opposites of their parents, Clayton, a terse and aloof but easygoing cowboy-looking fellow, and Johnny, who is kind of the Thompson of the group except he has a bit more of a spine. Ezra fills the Robbie role of the group. Speaking of which.....

Tyrone and Ezra do not compete over Leia's feelings the same way Dipper and Robbie did over Wendy, I am too focused on wholesome found family dynamics to even consider a love triangle. Instead, I implied that Tyrone is Ezra's ultimate wingman.

In the era of the Fooly Falls 2 epilogue, Ford would eventually die of a heart attack at, you guessed it, 92 years old in 2045, just like Bill predicted. However, just like Stan, death isn't enough to keep Ford down and he lives on as a ghost watching over the other Pines.

Around that time, Abby would start taking home a few gold medals in high school gymnastics, while Stan Jr. would befriend a lonely & sullen boy named Masaki Aofuji, who claims he can see strange ghost-like creatures when no one else can. Junior believes him though since this is Gravity Falls we're talking about, and also relates to Masaki since he feels like he hasn't found what makes him special yet unlike his older siblings. However, things would soon change when Junior, Abby, and Masaki are taken by Harumi Araisho to the mysterious Tsuganei Tower to try and blow it up, prompting Tsukata Kanda to contact Dipper to stop their plans while a certain three-sided scourge of Gravity Falls plots to use Tsuganei Tower as a tool for revenge. (possible hints towards a FLCL Shoegaze adaptation starring Stan Jr. and Abby intensify)

Preston Northwest ultimately didn't care that Pacifica was marrying a girl, but he did take issue with the fact that she was marrying Mabel, whom Pacifica made life a living hell for, out of every girl in Gravity Falls. Pacifica didn't care however, since she had already cut most of her family out of her life aside from a few cousins she was neutral towards.

There is at least one autistic person among the next-gen characters, I just haven't really narrowed down who it could be. On one hand, Ezra gets incredibly flustered with Leia's advances on him and tries to hide it, but on the other hand, Gwen had trouble socializing or feeling anything for much of her life and even when she started feeling emotions again after getting rid of her old hat, she was still a lot more reserved than her brother and cousin. Or it's both of them. Yeah, it's both of them.

Speaking of Gwen, for the first few weeks after abandoning her hat and accepting her emotions, she was very physically affectionate with everyone. She hugged her family and friends so much, Tyrone started keeping track of how often Gwen gave hugs to feel the warmth she was robbed of for five years of her life. The highest he got was 618 before Gwen decided she gave enough hugs.

Much like how Mabel had Candy and Grenda as her people, Tyrone also has his own plucky duo of friends. They are Matthew, a boy genius who is never seen without a set of mechanical octopus arms sticking out of his backpack, and Joanie, a very masculine boy with a feminine voice.

During his adventures beyond the portal, Ford has made many powerful enemies and allies over the years. He engaged in a game of wits with Makima, had run-ins with the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Tenth Doctors, met Metron and sat in the Mobius Chair, resisted making a deal with Alastor, and many more.

Tyrone and Leia are gym buddies. They also got Haruko to come with them a few times.

While Gwen has more self-confidence than her father did at her age, there are still times where she gets pretty awkward. She gets the most nervous around a boy her age named Damian that she has a crush on.

Juan and Jorge are banned from playing dating simulators that could potentially become sentient and super-possessive of the player. Soos knows exactly how that feels from personal experience, though he was happy that was what allowed him to meet Melody.

During Haruko and Jinyu's travels, they ran into Commander Amarao at least once. Naturally, Amarao tried to resist admitting he still held a torch for Haruko and was super jealous of Dipper for managing to patch things up with her.

And finally, Stan Jr's legal name is Stanley Junior Ramirez. The name also came from a line in Not What He Seems when Soos is guarding the vending machine.
