(My words, but rephrasing what a friend said on the same issue.)
The reason why some people criticize fanon is varied.
But one reason, one legitimate reason, is how alienating it is to people who do not adhere to it and cannot suspend their disbelief to fit in with what feels like a collective delusion.
It can be off-putting when some fans review a material and sees something vastly alien from what they read out of the source or when their informed extrapolation is applied to their reading of the material.
It is that whole... "This makes no sense to me."
With that perceived senselessness... the fun is sometimes removed for said fan and the push back at any difference of opinion is exhausting as well as alienating.
I think it is good for the fandom ecosystem to encourage diverse opinions and takes. However, fandom needs to allow for people to exercise this diversification. The hegemony of ideas is just as dangerous to creativity as militant "You can't play with canon or transform it" or constant infighting. Being able to take criticism geared towards one-note fanon is important, too. It is important to allow that kind of breathing room.

Tumblr has never gotten me to watch a show or film property I wasn't already inclined to be interested in.
Until I began to see Shōgun on my dash.

Gotta give it to Anakin. His downfall took years of grooming and was a lot less guaranteed than it seemed. Palpatine wasn't 100% certain if he COULD corrupt Anakin.
People keep on tryin' to replace Anakin with Fox.
Why would Palpatine give a kriff about a Clone w/o Force powers, let alone the effing Chosen One? Fox has guaranteed obedience.

I'm being serious.
Like, how many of you are aware that part of why Anakin looks like this:
Is because the man hadn't slept in like... a week?! He hadn't eaten in forever.
The human brain is fried after 36 hours w/o sleep. We are as incapacitated as when we're over the legal limit in most US States.
Sleep deprivations has made—ME—hallucinate.
In the books, Palpatine would constantly send Anakin, specifically ANAKIN, off on missions before he has had a chance to recover.
This is considered inhumane treatment and the US received mass condemnation (with good reason) when it was done to terrorist suspects at Guantanamo Bay. It is how police torture people into confessing to crimes they didn't commit.
Want a tired man who has smudges under his eyes and a lack of sanity because Palpatine thinks it is FUN?
Get some rest, Foxy boy.
Anakin is on the scene. (Insert exhausted Skywalker sobbing in the background. He wants a nap and a snickers bar.)
People keep on tryin' to replace Anakin with Fox.
Why would Palpatine give a kriff about a Clone w/o Force powers, let alone the effing Chosen One? Fox has guaranteed obedience.

Seriously, if you want a character who Palpatine is obsessed with and eventually does him in, may I introduce you to this little guy:
I mean, he's kind of a weird immaculate conception conjured out of the ether through mysterious methods, too!
People keep on tryin' to replace Anakin with Fox.
Why would Palpatine give a kriff about a Clone w/o Force powers, let alone the effing Chosen One? Fox has guaranteed obedience.
