have u heard of "love and deepspace" :o it's a new dating sim that released recently!! I haven't gotten around to playing it yet, but the graphics are gorgeous and I heard the story and gameplay are good so far!!

i'm playing it actually! i think im gonna switch to jp dub because the voice acting is so... dead. and so is the three main men's personalities. and the only interesting guy is also....

lile the only reason i'm playing the game is bc the main girl is hot asf (i made her hot. her personality is hot. funnily enough, in a genre where the mcs are usually the ones with dead personalities, she's the one who prevails. also canonically proficient with multiple weapons) AND there's combat gameplay in my dating sim?

that's it. i could care less about the men. i play for plot, protagonist, and play. that's literally it.

I’m not gonna lie, I just don’t see what people are hating about Artrem’s characterization in the second anniversary. I thought it was pretty true to form.

My only real beef is that it felt shorter and off theme compared to the other 3 cards which is a huge shame and feels gross considering it’s such a momentous canon card.

BUT

Artem in the 2nd anniversary doesn’t feel super out of character.

He’s putting off engagement because he feels paralyzed by the act of telling Rosa what he feels/wants because he doesn’t know how to convey his feelings or propose in a way that matches his own expectations.

He’s being distant and aloof as a result, and Rosa is doing what she does best and hyper analyzing his behavior with wrong conclusions (that reflect more on outward situations than internal, since Artem still isn’t great at being open up about that stuff unlike Vyn who knows how to communicate well but withholds as a concerted choice, for example).

All of his background cards see him bobbing and weaving not just how Neil and his parents have affected him in front of Rosa, but also when Rosa or anyone else hurts his feelings/comes to a wrong conclusion about him/his intentions, with fleeting exceptions.

Master of deflecting further questions or the topic at hand with (mostly work) segues.

He’s still being cheered on and brought to reality by his work big sis Celestine, who is so invested in Artem and Rosa that she views it as a cherry on top to see them engaged after her wedding. Which is so lovely. And very in character for her—she loves to see the fruits of her labor happen front and center and now she can hold this memory close not just in regards to her wedding but in regards to Artem and Rosa, who she cherishes. Especially Artem! (Also the fact that Mr. Rodriguez is so on board….busy body power couple)

This in particular is where I feel people are just beefing to beef. Celestine has ALWAYS meddled. And this feels very in character for her to guide Artem where he needs to go in a way she likes. She does it in almost every card she’s in!

And he is still struggling with his abandonment issues from Neil being gone and his parents not being around as much. He feels SO hard for Rosa and in a moment of high emotion and still a bit tipsy off alcohol he makes possessive comments which is also not out of character.

To me, it’s Artem feeling comfortable and going to the next step physically (and emotionally) by REALLY admitting that he’s insecure and his fears are manifesting as possessiveness ie YEARNING for Rosa and for more with her. He feels secure with Rosa. And he fears losing her just like he’s lost others. And he wants it to feel real. He doesn’t want to lose her to a case (Neil) or a career (his mother and father) or anything else!

He wants to feel like it isn’t a dream. He wants it to be solid, fully grounded in reality, in a way a lot of his personal relationships never get to be. No one could know about NXX and the full extent of his relationship with Neil (or the other members). He actively hid who his mother is and by extension who he is to her. Despite his relationships with Celestine and Rosa, he feels leagues away from his co-workers at large.

He wants people to KNOW that he has a truly personal relationship. He doesn’t want to for others or himself to see a large distance between himself and Rosa—like they’re strangers attached by business (like others in his life have been). Rosa is his partner, in all senses of the word.

Not just that, but it’s been a full year since Artem and Rosa started dating. In what world is it out of character for them to be familiar with intimacy. I kept seeing a lot of people saying Artem was too sexual and all he did was hold her and kiss her which he’s done……a lot, probably. They’ve been dating a year by now! The ending implies what we see is something they’ve done before but Artem would like to go farther. And Rosa is all for that but has never heard him say that before now! Because the repressed guy has been giving her repression.

Is the expectation truly that Artem’s first time making out and feeling up Rosa is this card? For real?

I have no idea what future cards will bring and I’m not interested in knowing until I can pull them in Global, but personally it feels like frustration toward future events is bleeding onto this card. Because what was presented does not feel disconnected from Artem’s side story, cards, or characterization as a whole.

There was just less time allowed to expand on what was presented which I agree is not ideal or even acceptable, especially for the 2nd anniversary. It should have been on par with the 1st in that regard, full stop.

But acting like this card pulled away from his established characterization in other cards in a huge way feels disingenuous. It did not! It was just rushed which I HATE SO MUCH. Like Rosa and Artem felt like they had the least time actually interacting within these 2nd anni cards!

And among these 2nd anni cards a big theme was family. Artem’s parents are certainly not dead so their exclusion from this proposal warranted at least some form of explanation. ESPECIALLY since his mother is someone Rosa knows and thinks fondly of and it certainly would have been interesting to see Celestine and Artem’s mother interact together.

His card lacked time to explore what he was feeling and cohesion to the 2nd anni theme, for sure. Which is really sad considering he is one of my favorite NXX guys. Like there are criticisms for sure but mine are more toward the structure of the card

okay okay this is a continuation of this post, in which i go giving my interpretations and my stance on the prologue: that it's an inception-like hypnotic trance. but at the end of that post i did say i had a theory about it, and that's this.

sam's prologue extravaganza part 2: electric boogaloo

now, when we think about hypnotism in media, we usually see it in negative terms. the person is usually hypnotized to do a thing that they block out entirely. there's also another bit of media that uses hypnotism as a means of finding out information that you maybe don't recall or have been purposely blocked off from remembering. hypnosis, in general, is a state of suggestion. it taps into different areas of your being and connects them to areas of your imagination. a person under hypnosis cannot act out of their moral character or do stuff that they don't want to do. in psychology, it is used to ease pain and maybe stop some habits as well as open the mind up to suggestions.

we haven't seen how vyn uses hypnotism in-game, but we have seen how he tries to get to the bottom of whats happening to his patients. take the phantom of the opera girl. while he doesn't outright hypnotize her, he does want to dive deeper into whats going on with her, enough that he has her self-analyze herself while being a stand-in for her. in essence: vyn wants you to do the work for him because he knows that the person who knows you the most is yourself.

so now that we know how vyn gets most of his info, we can get to the 'why' he put rosa into multiple hypnotic states. a lot of people aren't entirely too receptive to hypnotism, there's a certain threshold that they have to meet. rosa may be in the limbo of this threshold, and while they could break out of the hypnosis, they can be put in a trance, which is the reason for this inception.

but why put them in this state in the first place? well, as i said before, sometimes memories can be blocked off both through hypnosis or trauma. so maybe rosa has some blocked-off memories.

"of what?" i hear you ask. and i grin because this is the meat of the theory.

i believe that rosa holds the answer to the nxx drug within her, both mentally and physically.

lets go back to the development of X03A, the new drug that contains NXX. luke, in 5-1, tells us that the development of this drug started 25 years ago. luke and rosa are both 24 at the start of the game, so there's a one-year gap in its development. now, most of this is based on what rosa's parents do for a living to the point where they're also sent on a 'top secret investigation' but i believe that rosa was introduced to the X03A drug/nxx adjacent stuff at a young. what i'm saying is that rosa was experimented on as a child by her parents. i mean, its something that isn't new to the game. huey and joey are children who have been subjects to the X03A drug itself. 'but sam, why doesn't rosa know about this?' because hehe, they hypnotized rosa not to remember. now, this probably stopped by the time luke came around to live with them, but its already there.

now, being so young and probably hypnotized lots of times, it would make sense for her to either grow some resistance to hypnosis (as in they can't make you do something you don't want, therefore she wouldn't have wanted to be hypnotized) or have the memory buried so deep that it takes multiple levels of hypnosis to get to the answers. so rosa may be the answer all along, but also she may have some knowledge of the nxx drug in general, be it glimpses of formulas or stuff like that as well.

thats why vyn (or, well, the vision of vyn) tries to go deeper. the trauma, the formulas, are so deep within rosa that one hypnosis isn't enough.

thematically, it also uses the trope of 'the answer was inside you all along' but to a whole new level. now imagine luke, who needs a type of antidote, has to get it from rosa? or better yet, he has to make them relive all that trauma just to get himself to live again? i think it would also be the type of angst hyv would go for (re: looming nightmare LMAO). i definitely think that like, it was a process thing and that there were two phases to nxx drug testing: the prep work and the harder drug. the prep work makes it so that the body is much more receptive to the drug, which is what rosa got before her parents probably stopped experimenting. luke got the other one, and since he didn't get the prep work done that's why the drug is fucking with his body. there's also the thing that i noticed: maybe rosa's parents never delivered on the research because both joey and huey have some adverse effects of the drugs while rosa doesn't.

but yeah, that is my main theory! rosa holds all the answers and the only way to get the team to know about it is through hypnosis.

remembering the most memorable mc's (with canon appearences) from the otomes i played

all of them are phone games btw. and looong rambling about the games after the cut!

Mystic messenger has been in my radar since i was in elementary school but i played it for the first time after the spanish traslation came out (2017 i think?) Seven shaped my type in such a specific way that im not really sure why loved him so much (it was the whole "he loves you in every route" stuff). I like a lot the default mc, most of the fandom did and that was enough to won me over

Rosa is top tier protagonist tbh, Tears of Themis has really good story and characters (as far i played, not a lot but i enjoyed it) The reason i'm not that much of a fan is bc the game is expensive asf and not very free to play friendly. You're either lucky or have a big wallet with the gacha

i miss my wife man(Marius)

Ephemeral has to be one of the best free to play otomes i've played tbh (if my memories aren't tricking me, it's been years) Good artwork, good storyline, good characters and as far i remember you can unlock one chapter of the character route per day (mabye two days, idk) and the mc's background has an important role in every route (she's a zombie! she's pretty now but eventually will fall apart, aaaaand her story gets expanded in one of the routes!) ((shes also adorable)) There's also a sequel, if you wanted more of the boys! never finished it but i'd recommend it

Honorable mentions! Huellitas Mágicas is a great game! has a really good cast with well fleshed arcs for all the characters, even the scondary ones! The game shines more for the development of *all* the characters rather than just the protagonist/ml. The main theme is overcoming insecurities! Each love interest has a different way of helping our (very insecure) protagonist and helping different characters with their own struggles :DD

10/10 i recommend this game if you want something cute and can be finished in a few hours, if i remember right. It also has a sequel! with like- 12 new love interests, also never finished it bc i didnt found a guide that worked for me but ñek

A3! is my canon event as a gacha player. Discovered the english/global server, tried it and got bored, left it for a few months, tried it again and fell in love, noticed the game was going to shut down bc low sales -HAHA :(-. This is not a otome btw, this is here bc Izumi has to be one of my favorite protagonists in gacha games ever

last but not least! Obey me! Shall we date? oh dear, what have they done to you :(. The original had intense powercreep to force you to pull cards -multiple times bc that makes them stronger- and even now, the company showed a lot of favoritism to some characters, leaving others to dust bc they don't make the same money. Not to say, they released a new game with the same cast and new main story (ignoring all what happend before). And let me say: THEY LITERALLY WANTED TO KILL THE ORIGINAL GAME.

Nightbringer might be a decent game but i don't trust the devs anymore, i still remember what happend with Asmo's birthday right after the release, and honestly i don't want to sit there watching how they disrespect my favorite characters again and again and again. Loved the characters hated the devs. 5/10 you can play it if you want but i don't recommend spending money on it, it's not worth it, just search #obey me here in tumblr and enjoy the amazing fanworks that i can assure you have a lot more love than the game itself

characters who love being pulled by the waist because the feeling of your hand gently pulling them towards you makes their stomach do backflips <3. it doesn't matter the situation; whether you do it so you're the one walking closest to the street when on a sidewalk, or if it's to gently manoeuvre them back to you when they start getting further away, or even if it's to pull them close just because you want to. the small yet affectionate gesture of affection has their palms clammy and heart beating out of their chest.

they don't even really know why or which part they like the most. maybe it's the gentle way you put your hand on the small of their back just before you go further and grab their waist. or maybe it's the little squeeze you do right before you let go (as they silently wish that you would just keep your hand there for a little while longer).

and god- the way you look at them whenever you do it? the butterflies are immaculate, fluttering like crazy and they kind of feel like throwing up.

they briefly wonder if you're doing it on purpose. if you can feel their sweaty palm as you hold their hand, if you can hear their heartbeat that is loudly thrumming in their ears, if you notice the way they inch closer to you- a silent way to ask you for more.

Warning(s): spoilers from fontaine archon quest

Note(s): im not really sure how does the types of lawyer works but as far as im progressing the game, rosa is a defense attorney so we'll go with that 😭😭

To put it simple, you are a lawyer who just graduated and now working in Fontaine. A very admirable lawyer i might add, you have been winning cases left and right which made you very popular. Although you mostly work as a defense attorney, you still get really popular.

Neuvillette:

-he's seen you in some trials when you were doing your job as a defense attorney

-he admires the way you defend your clients, you spoke with courage with the evidence provided

-after another successful trial, he asks to speak with you

-he's just a curious dragon isn't he 😔

-after awhile you two became close, at some random occasion he would invite you to have a drink (ahem- water-) with him

-the longer he's with you, the longer he's liking your personality more and more. the way you will not hesitate to help other in need

-minus the part where you overwork yourself over a case, if he possibly could he would carry you from your office so you could rest

-would scold you if you overworked yourself, reminding to take a break so you wouldn't get sick

Furina:

-there was never a dull trial when you're there as a defense attorney

-to her, your cases were the most interesting

-she would be intrigued and i mean she would actually pay attention to the trial

-she likes you a lot because of that

-when her time as the Hydro Archon finishes, she still admires you

-you tried to help her in the trial, but all evidence was against her, there was nothing else you could do

-even if her status was no longer the hydro archon, she'd try to attend the cases

-in return, you would attend to her performances to support her

-she's glad you did, you two probably go for some snacks after either her performance or your trials

-yes, she's doing this so you will stop or simply take a break from overworking yourself to the BONE over a case

-what do you mean you want more coffee? 🤨 you're going to bed. can't let Fontaine's best defense attorney getting sick now, can we?

ToT Theory: We Already Passed The Prologue, We Just Didn't Realized It

Hi, nerds! I been on a break from playing tears of themis, bc for a while it stopped being a game I enjoy playing and started feeling more and more like a chore, but recently I started playing again, so I think I will start posting again, so yeah.

Yesterday when I got home from work, instead of my brain helping me relax, it kept bombarded me with abstract and useless concepts, preventing me from sleeping, and just like that, this theory was born.

Warning: Crack theory (I meant it), and spoilers.

I have no clue of how long you been playing tot, but let me tell you something, early game tot fandom were fighting for the lives, because of the game's prologue, that shit was crypted (I not sure if I used this right) as fuck, for no good reason. Trust me when I say, people were losing iq points trying to get some sense out of this.

So many theories were made, some saying that vyn was the villian, rosa was a traitor or amnesiac, stuff like that, but what most theories had in common was that the prologue happend somewhere in the future of the game, that eventually we would do a full circle and go back to the begining of the game.

So here is my sleep deprivation theory on this subject, the prologue happended somewhere between the blossom chapter 4 and the first year anniversary.

Hear me out, at this point of the game I fully I believe that the dream sequence was really a dream, and not a trance vision. Rosa, our sweet sweet Rosa, just received love confessions from her four good male friends, and she doesnt know what to do, she is overthinking and overanalyzing trying to decide who she should chose, because she likes all four of them in a romantic way. She is thinking about it so much that she even started dreaming about it.

In the dream sequence, she sees the boys, Luke, Artem and Marius, and its connection with them, being represented by 3 objects.

If you paid attention to the blossom chapters, you would realize that thoses objects where thing that represents Rosa getting closer to them, by the way, all of those objects where introduce in the first blossom chapter (I think is because the writes just had a general ideia of the way the story would go so they just putted there in the beginning so they wouldnt have to think to much about them). The 3 objects were, luke's box, which is a central point to his personal story, a painting Marius gifted Rosa, and a bouquet Artem sended to Rosa (I know the flower is not the same, but the change is to represent Rosa's feelings at that moment).

These 3 things, although important in helping Rosa and the ones she loved build a strong relationship, it also brings her sorrow because of her indecision. Because she cant possibly love four people at the same time, thats insane, and cruel on them.

But anyway, after that she sees herself in vyn's office, and he say some weird shit, which phrase referring to one of the boys.

Luke: he talks about the chest of memories, rosa spent 8 years think about luke, what she did wrong, why he abandoned her, just for him to throw some bullshit excuse at her, in luke's first bithday card, Rosa say that she hated luke, but she cant stop loving him. But since he came back, she started to learn more and more about him, and his new life, and she is not exactly thrilled. When it come to she and Luke, there are trust issues, that are very hard to overlook, but they learn to work it out.

Marius: he talks how Rosa pretends to be okay and she is not, and that my friends is a recurring theme in their relationship. And not only her, but Marius is the same, they are constantly trying to not let the other know whats going on, they put on this facade of "im fine, dont worry" which just let the other more concerned. They have communication problems, but as the story they learn to be more open, and properly communicate their needs and concerns.

Artem: this part is the most used in "Rosa is a traitor" theories, because vyn talks about standing by your convictions but betraying your heart. And seeds of this happening was already presented in cannon storyline and in the Artem's personal story, in chapter 3 of the cannon story, Rosa strongly believes that the law is wrong, because if mother killed to save their child, they shouldnt be punished. And Artem's blossom chapter 2, Rosa wants to go against her clients wishes and push her to put her husband to trail for domestic abuse. In both scenerios, Rosa show herself to be a very closed mind person, and if she thinks somethinf is right, she would stand by it to the very end, what ends up causing friction between her and Artem. But in the end she give up her ideials, to do the "right thing", and that is her greatest conviction, doing what is right, she doesnt always agree, and sometimes she gets hurt in the process, but she done right nonetheless. Alternatively, it could also mean, think she has to choose one boy, even if she likes all four.

And after that she start feeling overwhelmed, she is in pain, and vyn makes her go to sleep again.

Now, what about vyn? What is his part in all of this? Since they barely touched on the hypnosis subject on the game, we could link this to one other moment in the game, in vyn's blossom chapter 4, Rosa witness vyn hypnotizing a pacient to help her realize that the one she loved was only using her, which left an impact on Rosa. Maybe her subconscious thought that such practice would help her decided which boy she should choose, but that didnt help her, just left her more confused.

And then she woke up. Without having her response, and still not knowing who to pick.

And this is my theory.

i’ve finished this chapter — love tears of themis, gonna be my favorite hurt no comfort. quick recap of some vital moments.

> artem finally returning from the endless business trips and marius [together with luke and vyn, but they’re too shy to participate and are just awkwardly sitting there in silence] surprising him with a slapstick. “you were away for a long time and we missed you a lot” did those guys come straight from an ao3 found family fic or something?

> vyn probably admitting artem to be the most reliable nxx member [needs confirmation from someone who’s familiar with traditional characters]

> vyn: you were in a hurry and forgot something.

artem: hm? did i?

vyn: *hands him his bag with documents*

wow. vyntem married.

> rosa missing artem while he’s away. coming to his office to grab something for work but occasionally just… spending some time there… because everything reminds her of him.

> artem teaching neil’s law lecture. neil telling his students about artem, calling him 最看重的学生 — the student he considers to be the most important. valuable like a treasure. the student he cares about the most.

> ep11: vyn taking a sick-leave (he’s terribly hurt)

ep14: neil taking a sick-leave (he’s being tortured)

> artem seeing vyn struggling with repairing a toy car. “there is no such thing that i couldn’t fix” well as you say adjudicator.

> eirik can finally rest, the title of worst father goes to neil’s father — he’s literally doing experiments on his own son. and that is why neil’s having those terrible flashbacks and associations when being tortured.

> yeah, by the way he is being kind of tortured: temperature is around 21°C, clothes doesn’t warm him up [and he is also being drugged]

> jerome’s father committed suicide because he was [falsely?] accused of fraud.

jerome to neil: “artem is going through the same thing right now. you’d rather endure the pain of being beaten and treated like an experimental subject than give in. once you show a little weakness — it will be a collapse of your fatherly image to him. what you fear most is that artem will suffer from his own kindness and trust he has in you, in the process of looking for you and protecting you. only a few people, like artem, who sees you as a perfect father, will believe in you unconditionally. he will do anything to find you and prove to the others that you are the same professor hume and nothing has changed.”
