Went to the Spook School "10 year Anniversary of Dress Up" show last night. Fucking incredible show, no wonder my partner was so excited to see them.
I was not ready for the fucking mind-blowing support band. They're called Problem Patterns, they're from Ireland, and they're a self described "Queer Intergender Feminist Rage" band. Holy fuck that's accurate. They RAGEEEEE. They were fucking INCREDIBLE.
I've never seen anything that PUNK before. Never seen a band so ferocious and furious and powerful with it. The songs fucked super hard, the lyrics went even harder, the crowd was INTO IT. The coolest thing about it? No designated singer/guitarist/drummer/bassist. They ALL swapped and changed and slayed for like every song. Incredible shit.
The songs? I mean..

Titles should give you a clue but they do not justify how INCREDIBLE they were to witness live. An absolute moment. I, as a He/They, know their music isn't speaking FOR me, but it absolutely blew me away and my partner was HYPED UP. She told me that she got goosebumps during the first song. I mean these lyrics so go fucking hard dude

Please, if you like punk, pissed off women, bands like Bikini Kill or Fresh or just are looking for some new incredible female/Intergender rock music or whatever the fuck; I IMPLORE YOU please check them out. They're fucking incredible.

This is my pride playlist if anyone wants to listen to some LGBTQIA music. I don't know a whole lot about most of the artist so I'm sorry if anyone in here is problematic. I just wanted something fun and queer to listen to at work.

HETEROSEXUAL CIS-PEOPLE LOOK HERE
Tumblr media
Snaps my fingers at you as you scroll past this post
Look at me. Listen.
I'm not the best at serious posts, but that article up there reminded me of how important it is that people like you stand up for us. So hold on while I try to get this out of my mushy end-of-work-day brain.
We could fight this fight ourselves for decades trying to reach the equal laws, gender affirming trans healthcare that doesn't have a 2-5+ soul-eating years of waiting time, medical care with equal knowledge of lgbtqia+ bodies, and, what is often forgotten, inclusion in the little everyday areas of life like our way of speaking or things being set up or designed with the existence of queer people in mind.
But you joining in could get us there so much faster.
The power you have as a hetero cis person is that you set the standard for what is seen as the average way of treating us among other hetero cis people. You have been given the power of deciding what's "normal" and I'm begging you to use it.
Richard Green is a great example of to what extent your actions can help our situation, and smaller ways of support still add up to a great impact on society, and could make the days of the queer people you interact with.
Educate yourself before you speak up, but don't be silent.

The evil opposite of folks bending over backwards to declare that Taylor Swift is secretly gay or an "honorary lesbian" or whatever in order to justify enjoying her music is folks expressing amazement that this or that obviously straight musical artist could produce work that's so resonant with the LGBT experience, and then you look up the "obviously straight" artist in question and they're openly bisexual.
