Well, would you look at that. This is no mere Monday, November 13, 2023. Nay, this is Monday, November 13, 2023: World Kindness Day. So if you've been quietly wondering if there would ever be the perfect day to do something kind, or find yourself, as if in a wholesome montage, looking to turn over a new leaf, then hey presto. Looks like today is your lucky day.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there, smell the flowers. Smile at an old person. Check in on someone that needs it. Volunteer at an owl sanctuary. Knit something warm and scrummy for a beloved. Say something kind to a stranger. Do some shopping for a neighbor in need. You know the drill.

You know what people don’t talk about often enough? Playing catch up in life after spending your teens or early 20s suicidally depressed. There’s so many more layers than just being able to say “I don’t want to die anymore.”

The difficulty in academia or a career after spending years thinking you wouldn’t be alive long enough for any of it to matter.

The exhaustion that comes from self awareness and self soothing, with the constant voice in your head saying “don’t go backwards.”

How lonely it is to watch the people your age starting families when you’re just barely learning what stable relationships are, and the sudden societal pressure of being “up against a clock” for these kinds of things.

The judgement from others if you change your image or interests this late in the game just because you finally figured out who you really are under the demons.

Be kind to those who are developing and blooming after years of not planning on being here long. We are living a life we absolutely didn’t think we’d have, and it’s hard enough without society reminding us there’s expectations of our age.

We didn’t get to be young; we were too busy fighting battles few know.

@goblinracha Thank you for being my best friend and convincing me to create a tumblr in the first place. Without you, none of this would have become a thing. a while back i read a fic that i really liked, so naturally i left a comment saying how much i loved it. Then i went through the author's other work in the fandom and left comments on almost every one of them. What can i say, i really liked the way they wrote those characters :p

Today, i got a reply from that author saying how i made their day and how the aspects i've complimented them on where actually parts they struggled with and stressed about.

So the point is, 1. Comment on fics guys. Beside it being good etiquette and stuff, it's just a nice and fun thing to do! Just go ahead and put some love and positivity out there. It might be a little thing but you could totally make someone's day.

Point number 2. Your writing is more often than not, so much better than you think. So don't be afraid to put it out there! Parts of your fic that you don't really like could be parts someone else adores! I know it's scary, especially if you're a perfectionist (like me), but there is an audience for everything and your fic could make someone's day.

I’m sorry that writing is difficult for you these days. I would never have realized that if you hadn’t shared it. Know this, the work you are posting of late is amazing, truly.

Curtis and Honey are two hurt people who have found each other, and helped each other well on the road to healing. They are both loving, generous people who really love the other. They don’t even know how deeply yet, but they do. They are a beautiful, and inspirational as a couple. Beyond that, because of them I, and I suspect many other mid-size or plus-size women are looking at ourselves and our sexuality in a different light. Thank you for that gift.

Alpha Steve and Little One are absolutely heartbreaking, exasperating, and sometimes infuriating. They each love the other, and care for the other’s wellbeing more than they do themselves. Your writing has given me faith that they can find their way back to each other fully in the end. You’ve made me care what happens to them.

I’m saying all this because your recent writing has been exceptional, inspirational, and well loved. Be easy on yourself. Don’t try to force it for us. Let your inspiration lead you. It’s serving you well. 💕

Jane Babes, you are such an incredible soul, do you know that? If not, let me tell you that you are. I have held onto this for a while because when you sent this, I was struggling about what I was giving to this community and if I was still talented enough to continue writing.

I love writing, so much. But then, I was having a hard time feeling the joy it gave me. Depression sucks.

Thank you for loving the broken couple, the bond that shattered and we can only hope that will return. For loving them with all their frustrations and heartache, for encouraging them to find each other again, stronger this time. The fact that you care about their outcome means everything to me, it makes me want to keep their story going.

I will try to be easier on my expectations of myself, give myself grace to be messy and a bit chaotic in my writing, not tear it apart and try to find where I could have been better. I will be nicer to myself.

I’ve been absent for a while because I’ve been dealing with a lot of personal things, but I had to hop on my soap box for a minute.

I’m absolutely revolted by the behavior and homophobia I’ve seen displayed by some fellow “fans”.

I couldn’t be happier for Josh. This Pride month has been monumental for me also, as I officially began to come out. As a lesbian that was a victim of comphet and misogyny, I’ve never felt more free and powerful than I have by owning my truth. I can only hope that Josh feels the same sense of joy.

If Josh’s existence, or mine for that matter, offends you then I suggest you take some time away from Tumblr and focus that energy on educating yourself. Reflect on why you think it’s okay to spew harmful rhetoric directed towards other human beings, including someone that you look up to.

Reminder: Queer people don’t owe you anything.

however, it takes a lot of energy to show kindness in the face of indifference or worse, hatred.

it's okay to reserve your kindness for those who're kind to you too. for the hateful, ignorance is the best way forward.
