Assigning Saw Traps to Dracula Characters:

Because this is how my mind works. Also, I previously mentioned I was playing with this and @animate-mush encouraged my bad behavior. (With brief summaries of the traps if you're not as disastrously obsessed with the Saw series as I am.

Seward: I can honestly really see Jack in Lawrence's place in the Bathroom Trap (the main setup of the first movie, you wake up in a room with a stranger and you have to murder them or several of your loved ones will be killed; also in order to murder them you have to cut off your foot). Both of them are physicians who are emotionally disconnected and generally don't appreciate their lives. Honestly, though, I don't think the self-amputation aspect of the trap would be that huge of a deal for Jack. He might think it's kind of morbidly interesting.

Jonathan: I wasn't sure about this at first, but I decided Jonathan could take Adam's role in the Bathroom Trap. Adam is being punished for being passive, which is also a trait of Jonathan at the beginning of the novel; though due to politeness and a desire to please, rather than Adam's internalized homophobia unspecified mental illness. So, they have to suffer the wages of their own passivity, being helpless to another (implicitly more important) person's whims. Honestly, I can see John Kramer looking at Jonathan and getting big "pawn in someone else's game" energy. (Note that this applies to Jonathan pre-novel; post-novel, John would be very sore about Jon's willingness to die for/with Mina, because loving someone so much you couldn't live without them is pretty cringe tbh).

Arthur: Jigsaw would honestly struggle to find a reason to throw Art into a murder game. Maybe if he didn't process the grief of losing nearly everyone he loves in a few months in exactly the way John Kramer approved of. He'd probably get stuck in one of the more basic ones. Maybe the Venus Fly Trap (there's like a mini iron maiden around your neck and you have to cut out your eye to get the key surgically implanted behind it to get out of it). Arthur's a tough guy, though; honestly, I think he could get through it.

Quincey: Maybe Rigg's game (being faced with a variety of people in Saw traps and being encouraged not to help them, because either they deserve to die or they can only recover by "helping" themselves). We know that Quincey is self-sacrificing and willing to put his neck out to help near-strangers because for some reason he believes concern for others is a valuable reason to risk your own life. However, I imagine that Quincey would help rescue a victim of domestic violence, instead of deciding that she won't learn anything unless she pulls herself up by her bootstraps and helps herself (by killing her husband and suffering horrible pain, because DV victims are just complacent).

Lucy: Lucy and William Easton don't have a lot in common, but I realized his trap would fit for her. William's trap is super complicated, but mostly he has to go through a variety of situations where he decides who lives and who dies. Like, having to decide whether to kill a healthy young orphan with no friends or family and a chronically ill wife and mother, both of whom have done literally nothing wrong. Or having to decide which two of five people to save from being shot in the chest with a shotgun. This is the worst thing that could happen to Lucy, a boundlessly loving people-pleaser. That might be why he puts her in a trap, to encourage her to stand up for herself or something.

Mina: My immediate instinct was the Angel Trap (you're hooked up to this rig that is going to rip your ribs open unless you can fish the key out of a bottle of acid before it melts), mostly because of her and Kerry giving me kind of similar vibes. Kerry, a cop, is put in the trap because she's apparently obsessed with death more than the living, though really it seems like she's just too close to catching Jigsaw. Mina is fascinated by ghost stories and reads about criminology. She's, in a way, suicidal, and John Kramer absolutely cannot stand that. John would say that becoming a vampire is still close enough to living that you should still appreciate it.

Van Helsing: I was struggling to figure this out until I saw Saw X. Van Helsing is obsessed with brains and intellect and feels himself to be intellectually superior, so I think the brain surgery trap (you have to cut out a certain amount of your own brain tissue or your head gets roasted in a kind of mini-brazen bull) would fit. Maybe the instructions/insult tape would be something like, "You think you know what's going on in my brain, let's see if you know what's going on in yours." Something dumb like that.

That's fair, you're allowed to have that opinion but I'm going to be very blunt, I find a lot of the criticism leveled at LXG over its use of Mina to be a little hypocritical.

let's be real, a lot of you all in the Dracula fandom like to ship Jonathan with Drac, or with one of the three suitors without any regard to Mina's half of the relationship, but I notice as soon as anyone tries to separate Mina from Jonny some of you guys have a problem.

To be quite honest I don't think the Dracula fandom actually believes Johnathan or Mina's relationship is that sacred and untouchable, they just have a weird bug up their ass about LXG having them divorce. And it's fair if you don't like LXG, it's not for everyone but no one is telling you you have to be part of that fandom if you like Dracula. I get it, we all love Johnathan, but it feels like the idea that Mina can exist as a character outside of him in any context is one a portion of the fandom struggles with.

But I've seen people in that same part of the fandom be largely accepting of seeing Johnathan without Mina or worse, they're fine with Mina being reduced to a background character with all of her personally sanded down to "Johnathan's wife." I just feel like the criticism for how LXG handles Mina is never actually about MINA it's about Johnathan and that makes me reluctant to take it in good faith. I don't personally care what your ships are, have at them and have fun, but maybe also stay in your lane and don't get your panties in a twist because some other writer wanted to do something else with the characters.

Julius (Morris-)Belmont joins the HELLSING Organization. Part one

Julie's Belmont spent the beginning of his 19th year of Life job hunting

the war of demon Castle of 1999, (which is only months away by his families calculation) left him no time to have a normal life training with vampire killer and how to survive vampire attacks was his primary upbringing Aside from his American School life

It was a quiet organization in the Anglican Church funded by the monarchy itself as a way to protect itself from supernatural forces most people don't know about it for good reason.

As the son of the Union between the Belmont clan and the Morris family it was very easy to recognize what the organization meant.(it's highly secretive organization but MI6 was willing to point out a Belmont in London, and leave enough clues to point a Belmont to the organization.

One of the biggest clues to what the organizations true intentions and purpose was simply looking at the true founders of the org.

Based on @thisbluespirit 's AO3 work - Trouble Comes in Threes

The only one whose outfit was described was that Mina’s outfit is now burgundy and John isn’t wearing his jacket, so I took the liberty of making Jonathan look cute :)

This is just an excuse to dress them up, which the villain wanted to do, maybe, at least I would with the wax figure theme they got goin XD

This blog is mainly for finding roleplays. I roleplay exclusively on Discord (I love making private servers) and am 21+, so minors please DNI. The third of May, eighteen ninety-seven:

My dearest fiancee Jonathan Harker has departed for Transylvania to assist Count Dracula with realty affairs through an extended stay at his finest castle among the Carpathians. My attitude towards his departure is composed dually of wonder and sorrow, as I imagine the glorious expanse of towers, battlements, and bastions set against a backdrop of infinitely rolling mountains. I cannot help but wish that this business voyage were timed differently, as it sorely interrupts the planning of our wedding arrangements. My heart aches in anticipation of his return, and my thoughts flutter to morbid possibilities as I remain in ignorance of the status of his arrival.

To distract myself from his absence, I shall resolve to spend more time with my friend Lucy. Her company brings upon me an emotion indescribable and also incomparable to the love I have for Jonathan: one of composure, safety, carefreeness, and much laughter! With her, I need not worry about assuming a certain “appropriate” manner; the personality I possess around her is undoubtedly true to myself.

Yes, I shall spend time with Lucy…

The tenth of May, eighteen ninety-seven:

What splendid news! My Jonathan has arrived safely at Castle Dracula and has commenced his discussions of business. Jonathan also mentioned that he and Dracula have gotten “intimately acquainted.” I have written to Lucy with this news, and I need not worry longer about his condition, which brings me the greatest relief. Though, I will continue to spend a heightened amount of quality time with Lucy. Among these past seven days, we have accompanied each other on outings to downtown London to purchase stockings, ribbons, and a particularly vibrant orange nightgown that perfectly compliments Lucy’s hair. In the mornings, we enjoy walks through the gardens of my father’s estate. One afternoon, we entertained a particularly humorous and embarrassing conversation revolving around my intimacy with Jonathan which came about from my reading Arabian Nights… Lucy tickles me with the audacity of her jests! The amount of joy she brings leads me to believe that she is indeed my closest friend, and even friendship feels like an insufficient descriptor. The strength of our relationship, it feels even stronger, as if our connection transcends mere friendship…

The twenty-eighth of May, eighteen ninety-seven:

Lucy has informed me of the status of three proposals that she has received from Dr. John Seward, Arthur Holmwood, and Quincey P. Morris. She has chosen Holmwood! This is such an exciting development for my dearest Lucy, as she has been long fantasizing about the future of her marital status. I must say, it is fitting to Lucy’s character for her to have three proposals in consideration… She is skilled in courting men in abundance! I shall arrange for a more extended introduction to Mr. Holmwood, though I wish for Lucy to convey to him that he must not accompany us on our garden walks and our shopping trips downtown. I never thought Holmwood to be that impressive of a figure anyway.

The tenth of July, eighteen ninety-seven:

Oh, my worry grows. Two months have passed since the arrival of Jonathan’s first letter, and in that time, I have not once been informed of his condition, his whereabouts, or the status of his business transactions with Count Dracula. While my optimism urges me to imagine him in good condition, I cannot help but consider the most dreadful of possibilities.

I shall go on holiday to lift my spirits. Yes, I shall visit Lucy in Whitby.

The twenty-fifth of July, eighteen ninety-seven:

My time in Whitby has been splendid. Lucy and Arthur’s residence is vast and impeccably decorated. I wish to request to extend my stay in Whitby, as my time with Lucy has been the most delightful. Yesterday, Lucy and I ventured to the Whitby Sea Front, where we shared the most stunning views of the English waters. In that moment, as we gazed thoughtlessly out at the atypically calm waves, I felt a curious disturbance in my stomach. This wasn’t a feeling of sickness but rather something oddly pleasurable, but foreign. The sensation seemed to infiltrate my skull, and a buzzing feeling radiated from the surface of my forehead in vibrating waves. Never in that moment have I felt my heart so full, or my chest so proud. At that moment, I was so preoccupied with unfamiliar sensations that I failed to realize Lucy was leaning into me, with her head nestled in the cavity between my shoulder and my neck. Without thinking, almost as if I was being controlled by a supernatural force, I tenderly lifted her chin with my hand, and we shared a soft kiss as the waves awoke from stillness and began to crash forcefully on the shore.

The twelfth of August, eighteen ninety-seven:

Another month has passed, and I still have not received a letter from Jonathan. As the time since hearing from him last grows, my optimism dwindles.

The most horrifying events transpired last night. A most tumultuous thunderstorm sent branches rattling against my bedroom window, pulling me out of my slumber. I awoke and approached my window to see Lucy in her nightgown, gliding across the courtyard towards the graveyard! She has been having episodes of sleepwalking recently, but this occurrence was particularly dangerous. Without a second thought, I rushed down the steps and walked out into the violent winds of the storm. I ran across the yard to find Lucy lying painfully on a stone bench in the graveyard, unconscious. With instant purpose, I rushed to her and lifted her onto her feet, wrapping her arm around my shoulders and guiding her back inside. As we entered the house, I noticed the most odd markings on her neck: two pin-sized pricks, teeming red with blood.

The nineteenth of August, eighteen ninety-seven:

My dearest Lucy has fallen ill. Her sickness commenced with her sleepwalking episode, leading me to believe the cause of illness to be the cold rain and wind. However, this assumption has been sorely disproven in only a week’s time. Tragically, Lucy’s condition has been rapidly worsening. With every day that passes, she develops increasingly severe symptoms, which have progressed to a state that has perplexed even the most esteemed physicians. Dr. Van Helsing has been called to assume the role of her primary caretaker, and I wish so desperately that he is successful in curing this atrocious disease. Lucy’s symptoms seem to defy science… her teeth have become sharp, her eyes have become fogged, and her demeanor has become ill-tempered, erratic, and violent.

Oh how I wish for my old Lucy…

The twenty-seventh of August, eighteen ninety-seven:

Even in her alarming condition, I have been visiting Lucy for several hours every day. I must confess that the time I spend worrying about Lucy’s state and begging for Dr. Van Helsing's permission to visit Lucy far exceeds the time I spend anticipating a letter from Jonathan. I have an overwhelming and defining compulsion to care for sick Lucy as her condition worsens. I reflect on our most joyous experiences. As her illness progresses, I long for the Lucy I once knew, the Lucy that accompanied me for garden walks, downtown day trips, and tender kisses on the beach. I meditate on our unwavering connection, one that cannot be described by the word friendship.

Indeed, the obligation I feel to visit her can only genuinely be described as romantic attraction…

I've read Dracula numerous times throughout my life but I love reading it in this way so far. It's a neat & fresh way to consume the story. It's especially cool to be reading it with half of tumblr, many of whom are apparently reading the story for the first time!
