Finaly finished watching MLP friendship is magic, the final season
Tumblr media
Here's a couple of my few spoilery thoughts and reactions:
- when i saw that discord was hogarth my first thought was immediately "oh, thats kinda cute, since he was a redeemed villan, hes trying to teach some of the irredeemable ones about the power of friendship in their own way!" But NOPE! LMAO! hes just a fucking moron that just wanted to give twilight a final boss battle. my god. He keeps fucking up - So glad that they beat the crap out of Cozy glow, that was really funny. fuck them kids - All of the designs of the older mane 6 i very much liked! Exept twilight, i thought it was weird that they copy pasted celestia's lanky body on her (also spike looks WEIRD. but still better than gen 5 spike) - I was watching this all with my gf. When i saw older Applejack and Rainbow dash together with very loosely implied romance i instinctively muttered "i want to kms" It just. instinctively came out of me. Sorry Appledash shippers - I always knew Rarity would be a hot old woman but goddamn im so glad to be proven right. She'd serve cunt all the way to the grave - Brief chaos god pinkie was funny; i thought that was just smth from the comics! I'm already planning on putting that on a fanfic in the future either way heh. - Chrysalis's whole fit was very fun. As always, best villan purely by presentation (ty megamind) - I cant believe starlight glimmer is the one that got like. one of the few actually good fight scenes in the show, against chrysalis. She even did a couple of quips. My god that feels weird. I miss sunset so much. - I cant believe that all we get from Sunset shimmer on FIM is just. a brief, insignificant cameo on that rly awesome cute song in the end, one where she's getting mike-wazowski'd by twilight. Holy shit sunset stans stay losing forever, my god its a sad life for us
no grown up flurryheart 🥺 🥺
For some reason i thought there'd be a war or something? in my head i had heard there was a war on the finale of MLP which i always thought sounds goofy as hell. Glad it wasn't, but otherwise its not like the finale impressed me that much. I mostly cant stop thinking about how sad it is for twilight to rule alone, almost. Like, her friends will age... No alicorn wife................................................
Oh well. either way, cute finale. I'm glad i sat through all the show. It has definitely done some irreperable damage to my psyche at this point, as you can most definitely tell. Haha can't wait for there to be another generation amirite :)
No alicorn wife. Ugh. We Sunset Shimmer stans stay losing....

I have no idea if your requests are open or not so I apologize if they're closed 😭🫶
But could I request the octatrio with a fischl reader (female if possible ♡)
I love the octatrio sm rn and I rarely see any works with them so I just had to request
hi hi anon of course! do you think they would accidentally create an elemental reaction whenever floyd pokes oz 🧐
octavinelle with a fischl-like female reader!
a mysterious girl called "prinzessin der verurteilung" travels with oz, a night raven. through her unique abilities, eccentric character, and hard work, she has become a rising star among the guild's investigators, earning all the recognition. and yet she still fares mostly on her own
Tumblr media
༉‧₊˚. azul ashengrotto
you were an unpredictable and quite eccentric person! its true that you have a quite different way of talking from others but it made you stand out!
"you dare to call my familiar and grim as monsters?! you must prepare your self, because it is time for retribution!"
"where did you get that bow?!"
"mein fraülein, if i dare to say so - that isn't one of your lines. but thank you for defending me."
your achievements in the school mainly were praiseworthy, azul knew for a fact that you were a strong one that he didn't want to come across with
until you got roped into the octavinelle issue and instead of looking at him with disdain - you were even willing to help him out?! maybe those rumors about you were true at all
as being someone who will willingly go out their way to help others in your own way, even if you come out harsh
what bothered azul most was how you were quick to intervene his plans as well as helping him with his problems
"why are we walking around school? where is oz?" "my dear familiar is taking his good rest. as for the reason of walking around - well i heard from a little bird that you are having a hard time on something. would you like to accept her majesty's help?"
surely and slowly, he was beginning to see right through you, even without oz's interpretation and to be honest? you weren't so difficult to understand at all
the most likely to spoil you rottens by letting you do as you please whenever you went to go visit their dorm
"didn't you mention before that you like reading? you can borrow some of my books here because it just so happens that i am an avid reader myself!" "...! i-i never thought that you were keeping that in mind, thank you azul."
as time goes by, the bad rumors surrounding you gradually dissipative → students will think twice of talking shit about you because this comes as a package deal for being friends with the octavinelle dorm leader.
Tumblr media
༉‧₊˚. jade leech
"one is aware that fate has brought me into this path. hm-hm, may the glory of the prinzessin bring light to this wicked world." "oh my, how bold of you to address our world as such!"
true, jade couldn't really understand how you were able to say such things in front of the whole school and shrug it off
he is the type of friend that would take his time to sit down and listen for you for hours and even ask some questions about your previous adventures
"you met your evil twin?" "it was more like a shadow version of me, and oz here decided it was fun to leave me for her." "*gasp* i take full offense to that!" "oh my god, the prinzessin's most beloved familiar is a traitor."
jade knew for a fact that you were entirely different from the octatrio so he tries to steer you away from trouble as much as possible but with your friends and sometimes even floyd, maybe sometimes are not just possible
don't tell the other two but if you would pick someone trust the most to see you behind your act - it would be jade
knowing how observant he is, you wouldn't be surprised if he had seen through you already but you trust him enough and that's all you need
"hmm, this is troubling..."
"what seems to be the problem?"
"it looks like one of the students broke the contract and went hiding among his peers."
"that sounds like a problem, but no worries we can assist you."
color him surprise after seeing your investigation skills 😮 the task that should've took a day to complete got immediately solved less than half a day
and your fighting skills are extraordinary! from that day on, you would get extra allowance every time the octatrio need your help
while you seem capable of yourself, jade took it as his and floyd's responsibility to look after you because you were still kinda an airhead
"(name)..."
"i forgot the stove was still on..."
as you hail into their world as an outsider, he will do his best to provide you the best experience until you bring the glory of the prinzessin among them - after all, that is what friends for
Tumblr media
༉‧₊˚. floyd leech
you are such an interesting fishie! or are you a bird? did you just turn into a bird? can you teach him that too?
it was like he finally met someone on the sam wavelength because floyd surprisingly went along with your act - taking the role as your confidant
"ne, ne (name) - can oz talk to other birds?"
"my dear ozzie?"
"'cuz if he can talk in human language can he understand animal language or he is just built different?"
if you think that sometimes you can't understand yourself, you couldn't understand floyd even more!
each of his random question just made you wonder your whole existence because this man will text you at 2 am asking "what would you call a male ladybug?"
"If peanut butter wasn’t called peanut butter, what would it be called?" "for the love of everything, floyd it is 2 am..." "yeah? so what would it be called though?"
being with floyd is like being hit with an uno reverse card and honestly - you were having fun!
it was like you were relieving your childhood with the eel and with his random outburst it motivates you to be more open about yourself
from time to time it was funny to see him trying to chase after oz, trying to ask your familiar over and over again if he could do the same thing
"i am afraid it would not be possible." "but we haven't even tried it out yet?" "why are you wrapping your hands around m- no, no, no we are not going into the water!"
news flash, they did. 😭
anyways! he adores you and oz and never fails to give you your daily hugs
as said before - floyd sometimes gets you in trouble by breaking rules and getting involve in the punishment but hey! some times its okay to let loose but not just too much.
still, you friendship may be a little unexpected to others and floyd knows that you are similar yet also different from each other but he will try to make your stay more bearable than letting you suffer all alone

I keep writing Viggorli fanfiction in my head, sometimes with a little help from Viggo's poetry. I think Viggo uses his art and poetry to express himself, but of course no one but him can know what he was thinking when writing it. But I can imagine. And I wish to imagine he wrote some of them thinking of Orlando. I'm sure my imaginations and theories are only new to me.
As with the O+H painting, the poems which are dated from the time frame of filming LotR (1999-2002) can reasonably be considered to be quite influenced by everything Viggo experienced while in New Zealand. He spent 18 months+ there, after all. For this reason, I read his poem Communion imagining he was also under the heavy influence of love for his elf boy. And to me, it reads like a very romantic but also very wistful poem. So this story would be labeled "friends to lovers, angst".
In my view, at least two sort of objective facts, support my not-very objective theory that Orlando is the unamed object of desire, namely Viggo's choice of words:
"Bloom of compassion" - the most obvious (too obvious even? - or hiding in plain sight?) - it's a common enough word, sure, but in this context, during this period of Viggo's life, is it really a coincidence? It seems to stand out like a neon sign: BLOOM. It's difficult to unsee.
"Anglican doorway" - "Anglican" mostly refers to "Church of England" or the Anglican communion as a whole. But it can also be another way of saying that something is English. And so it can be read as "English doorway", if you wish. Regardless, it certainly leads your thoughts towards England. Furthermore, Orlando was brought up in the Church of England (and born in Canterbury, the place of origin for the church, no less), while Viggo has no known connection to any religion really. It's perhaps not as obvious as bloom, but it's still quite a significant choice of word. Again, in this context, at this time, when we know Viggo spent so much of his time with Orlando.
Here's my interpretation of Viggo's Communion:
we've left shore somehow become the friends of early theory close enough to speak desire and pain of absence of mistakes we'd make given the chance.
The two are described as friends, who have become closer, intimate in words and thoughts. Sharing secrets, fears, feelings. Bordering on something more.
each smile returned makes harder avoiding dreams that see us lying in the early evening curtain shadows, skin safe against skin. bloom of compassion respect for moments eyes lock turns forever into one more veil that falls away
He seems to be having thoughts of them becoming lovers, the veil of "just friends" falling away. But it seems to be still just a dream, a hope. It's such a beautiful image: the two of them, together, intimate, safe. And that "bloom of compassion", maybe V just wanted to get the word in...
this after seeing you last night, first time smelling you with permission: shoulders to wonder openly at as carefully kissed as those arms waited impossibly on. they've held me now and your breath down my back sent away the night air that had me shaking in the unlit anglican doorway.
But seems they've already been intimate, maybe just a first kiss, a lingering touch, holding each other. The "smelling you with permission" implies he's smelled O without permission before. Sneaking a little sniff when in close contact. Inhaling the sweet scent of a beloved friend. If we accept "anglican" as a reference to O, then what is this unlit doorway? Is it just an image of being allowed inside O's private space? And why is it unlit? As in Orlando being from that church, but not believing in its god? Or an opening into this other person which is difficult to find, maybe not fully opened to him.
are we ruined for finding our faces fit and want to know more about morning? is friendship cancelled if we can't call each other anymore in amnesia, invite ourselves to last glances under suspicious clocks telling us when we've had enough?
A worry that sex will ruin their friendship, implying it's not clear what their relationship should be, even after crossing that line. I love that phrase "finding our faces fit", it's both funny and beautiful; finding that when they kiss, they felt a sense of belonging. And that they probably don't want to stop. I'm not sure if he also worries about other people seeing, finding out, being in the public eye. And he worries that they won't be able to talk like they did before, as friends.
your steady hands cradling my grateful skull: were you taking in my face to save an image you've rarely allowed yourself after leaving that cold alcove? am i a photograph you gaze at in moments of weakness?
Again, he seems to feel this relationship only exists in private, in bed. Maybe implying that O regards it as a weakness, these feelings. This part could also be read as if it's him looking back, when the relationship is over, or changed, distanced, wondering if O thinks of him.
you ordered me off my knees into your arms. wasn't to beg that i knelt; only to see you once from below.
The image of V on his knees could both be a sexual thing, but it could also be about worship; that he wants to be on his knees to adore O. But it's also a part of the poem's religious theme; you usually kneal while taking the communion. You kneal to pray.
tried to say something that filled my mouth and longed to rest in your ear. don't dare write it down for fear it'll become words, just words.
The relationship seems fragile, filled with fear of loss. Like he can't say everything he wants to, afraid it'll lead to it ending. There's so much desire and longing, but also so much despair of the relationship being so brittle, that it can fall apart at any time.
Once I read it this way, like with that painting, I can't see anything else. Maybe it's just coincidences, maybe it's just something from inside Viggo's brain (and not connected to reality), maybe it can be read in many other ways. But since my brain is warped, I can only read it like this.

Guys, this will be a post non-related to Walking on My Grave, but related to me as a writer, and turned to a specific side of Tumblr: any Brazilians that may follow me (I never talked about, I think, but yes, I'm Brazilian lol), because it relates to a Brazilian Crowdfunding platform. Everything related to Walking on My Grave will remain in its normal schedule (also, hopefully I'll have good news in the devlog next week)
(the post will all be written in english because I really don't want to switch lol)
So. In the end of 2023, I sent a short story to a competition by the Cartola Editora. The theme was "Folclore", with the anthology resulting called "Encanto".
Won't lie, I wasn't really expecting to be selected, the story I sent was old and I had to heavily edit and cut things to be within the length established. But it WAS selected!
Now the book is in Crowdfunding phase in Catarse, and we, all the authors selected, really would appreciate any and all help into reaching the goal <3
Tumblr media
This is the cover, guys! It's amazing! It's all about our beloved and rich Brazilian Folklore, with many interpretations of known myths! I know of a story where the Boto and Iara go into a relationship. There is a Lobisomem Mineiro (Miner werewolf, non-brazilians, but miner really doesn't cover the culture of Minas Gerais, one of our states). My own story is along the lines of Urban Fantasy, narrated by Curupira and with Saci as a secondary character. And many others!
It's a beautiful book, the campaign's goal is not unrealistic close to some I have seen in Catarse, and we really need some boost.
The link for the Campaign is RIGHT HERE
Many, MANY thanks for reading the post, and apologies for "high jacking" the blog, since, well, here is mostly for IFs, but we, me and the other authors selected, really want to see this book be successful.
Again, thanks for the attention. Love you all, thank you for the patience, and I'll see you all in the next Devlog! <3

Do you think god can help me find a romantic partner? Or since we have free will its just luck/chance?
Hi, beloved! Can I say yes to both? :)
I see God working through chance and luck all the time, even though that might sound like a contradiction. God works unpredictably without an observable cause, God encompasses all the forces we perceive as working for or against us, God exists outside of time, God encompasses what we've given all kinds of names, like chance/luck/fate/destiny. However you see the world, however we interpret things happening, whether we seek meaning in why things happen or if we simply accept that they happened, God is there.
Much of finding a romantic partner is what we usually call chance, because it's who you meet and when you meet them! I do think the people in our lives are there for a reason, but not because of divinely ordained soulmates or anything like that--more like, every person on this earth is someone we can learn from, and, if we meet them at the right time, is someone we can connect with. A lot of factors go into whether we begin a romantic relationship with someone in our life--I don't really encounter God as someone pulling divine strings, so I prefer to let those factors, while God-encompassed, be a divine mystery (mystery in the unable-to-be-comprehended/full-of-wonder sense, not the something-to-be-figured-out sense).
Seeking out God/recognizing Their presence can absolutely transform you, though, and mostly people find that they are better able to approach romantic relationships when they're in a stable, loving place. Obviously instability is a part of all our lives, and we shouldn't wait around for a perfect life before seeking out other people. But I find I am more able to be a better family member/friend/partner when I am spiritually present.
In case you need this: Whatever comes next for you, remember all the kinds of love we strive to value--love for friends, family, strangers, enemies. Don't wait around for someone to romantically love you to be a whole, loving person. I find it really meaningful that we consider Jesus as having been fully human, full of love, but he never emphasized (or even really mentioned) romance, and it wasn't a part of his life at all if we're being orthodox (for the headcanon enjoyers: it at least wasn't deemed necessary to be documented for future Christians). The most perfect Lover who ever walked this earth did not center romance in any way. Romance is meaningful and beautiful but it is not our ultimate calling--or at least, it is only one way to take part in our ultimate calling, which is Love.
Did God magically create a soulmate for you? Doubtful, sorry. Is God a puppeteer throwing people into your life, one of whom is meant to run away with you? I don't really see it that way. But we are called to love all those who cross our path, and we are called to renew our hearts and be spiritually present, and romantic relationships bloom when we move through the world with love, but often when we're least expecting them. For everything there is a season.
So my answer is: God can absolutely help you to find love in yourself/others/God. Chance/luck/free will/fate/destiny/God will lead you where they lead you. My answer is I won't pretend to understand any of it, but I do trust we were born to do this. May God be with you as you continue questioning and seeking and creating relationships of all kinds!
<3 Johanna

dynamic: cg! donna beneviento headcanons
a/c: our beloved dollmaker is one of my top comfort characters (i think about her 24/7), so this list is gonna be much longer than my usual ones. also, each item in the moodboard is going to correspond to these headcanons, though in no particular order. as a disclaimer most of these are based off of my own regression/daydreams so its very self indulgent in nature. there may be some things that won’t be based on canon but instead my own interpretation of the character (especially since what we know in canon of donna is very little unfortunately ( ╥ω╥ ))
 i hope you enjoy!
warming up to people outside of her own family would be difficult for the introverted lord, however once she’s made up her mind about someone/considers them one of her own, there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for you
out of the four of them she was the fastest to understand what your regression is and its benefit to your mental health. i mean she is the village dollmaker, she’d understand more than anyone what its like to find joy in things meant for children.
and who’s to say that she isn’t a regressor herself? i believe wholeheartedly she’d be a flip, she may not have understood the terminology at first but her tendency to go non-verbal and have angie speak for her is my main evidence
the moment she comes to understand what she needs to do to help you, you’ll find her one of the sweetest caregivers ever
and she’s so. observant.
if she finds you taking a liking to anything in particular (whether it be a food, a show, or even a material of clothing) she’ll be taking notes of it to either get you more of it or as a reward for your good behavior (gotta make sure she’s raising a respectful little one, y’know?)
her leather bound book would have all of her observations: your schedule, your likes and dislikes, and her ideas for gifts months in advance
there’s absolutely no way that you’d be able to hide anything from her, there’s eyes everywhere in the beneviento house!
it’s mostly for your safety of course, she respects your autonomy and your privacy of things that you’d like to keep to yourself
though i can’t say the same for angie, she’s one of the biggest tattletales the village had ever known
donna would chuckle to herself if she were to find a “surprise gift” under your bed while cleaning, remarking to herself how good of a little one she has for thinking of her
as a creative soul herself she would absolutely encourage it, you would have a separate room right next to her office to let your creativity run wild (though supervised if she noticed you in a smaller mindset)
if you like sewing, she’d have an entire suitcase of child-safe needles and scissors for you. if you like to paint she’d always make sure that you have sufficient amounts of each mediums
she loves anything that involves the use of her skilled hands, one of her favorite pastimes being knitting. you could always find her humming near the fire, seamlessly switching the yarn in between each row
it would only take you to silently sit in front of her with your back turned for her to put everything down and begin brushing and braiding your hair, you were almost convinced it was a superpower in itself how perfectly even each of the braids would come out without fail
though she can get completely lost in her work she’d always make sure to set time aside for her little one, as though you two weren’t already attached at the hip. neither of you mind, silent company is something that you both greatly enjoy
if there is ever a need for her to not have you near her, angie is your assigned babysitter for any occasion, though she’d take the role of being your superior to heart, and voila you have a mischievous older sibling
though she wouldn’t admit it there isn’t anything that angie wouldn’t do for you either. of course she has moments of getting jealous that you take donna’s attention away from her, but if she notices even one wrong look from the other dolls towards you they’d be having a word with her or donna soon after
storytimes are an absolute must before bed, they were already something that donna would do for the other residents of the house when she felt like it, but now it had become routine. most of the genres would be the old folk tales and gothic literature that she was raised on
you can bet that she’d be using her powers of hallucination to let you see the world around you as the set of whichever story of your choosing
your desire to want to mimic her in everything she does is something that she finds so endearing about you. she’d be in the kitchen cooking a meal for the two of you and then look down to find you tugging on the bottom of her dress, ushering you instead to your play kitchen to “help”.
“perdonami, piccola ombra, the oven is too dangerous.” followed closely by angie tugging you away to a safer area of the house
piccola ombra= little shadow, a name given to you by donna when she found you following her around the house with a blanket over your body and a stuffy clutched close to your chest with a veil over their head to mimic her and angie
besides piccola ombra, she would have many petnames that she would shower you with throughout the day, though her favorite of all would be either tesoro (treasure) or bambolina (little doll), but especially coniglietta (bunny)
because of that you will find bunny items everywhere, from your plushies to your lotion to the items engraved around your room
the two other ways that she notices you copying her is gardening and baking. any of the produce that you both procure would be used in your meals and treats.
donna always thought it best to work for the things that you want rather than to depend on others. her status as lord always guaranteed she were given things on a silver platter, and for that she always found gardening to make her less reliant on help.
after finally clearing off the brush and snow, the two of you would find yourselves enjoying the afternoon picnicking outside with the other dolls with two different tea sets: one silverware and another wooden set to play with. you two would watch the sun set over the courtyard, and if you grew sleepy she’d be happy to carry you back to bed
you would never find a more loving, attentive, and dedicated caregiver than donna beneviento ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

New episode that I forgot to put up a link to when it came out because I was in the middle of a move!
When we were going through this one for the episode, I was mostly focused on how goofy some of the choices seemed at first glance... but listening through again to do the editing, I started formulating a theory that some of the odder writing decisions are actually an intentional commentary Marie de France is making on patriarchal violence. Hence the title. Sadly, since that didn't strike me until after we recorded, it's not vocalized in the episode, but I am handing you a lens through which to interpret this one. And maybe I'll write a paper or something later if I ever find the time. Anyway, more standard episode description below.
The Lais of Guigemar is a medieval tale of romance with a magical twist that could give any modern rom-com a run for its money. When a dashing knight accidentally shoots a white doe and falls under a love curse, he's destined for a quest filled with enchanted belts, hidden desires, and a whole lot of "deer"-ly beloved drama.

Analysis of Madara Uchiha's Birth Chart
It is the day of our Beloved King Madara Uchiha .
For the celebration , here is analysis of his house wheel of his birth chart
The house system in a Birth chart indicates the map of the life of a person . Since we know major events of madara's life , this would an attempt  to analyze and verify if this has been true in his life . Placement can play out in many different ways in one's life , I will mostly relate to canon and my assumptions based on it .
This analysis is based on the birth chart calculated by @al-hekima-madara-blog
Madara Birth Chart
Rising  -  Capricon
The first house is our appearance to the world. Capricon in first house makes a person  reserved , stoic , serious , disciplined and calculating .Whenever you look at him the first time, you feel see these qualities in prominently cause his sun and mercury are also present in this first house .
With his Sun and mercury here he appears to be a man of few but meaningful words , also he is very strategic in his plans as we have seen how well he planned the infinite tsukyomi. Now the ruler of his first house Saturn , which is placed in sagittarius would give him heavy physique , buff with wide shoulders, a barrel chest, and thick thighs. But since it's Saturn it will happen gradually .
2nd house - Aquarius
The second house is our upbringing , family lineage . With Aquarius here it means unique (kkekei genkai of uchiha ). This can also be very technical ubringing (Uchiha's fireball jutsu ).
[ This is my personal observation .The signs  which have double rulers in this case Aquarius ( ruled by Saturn , then Uranus ) manifests as the traditional ruler themes first and then the modern ruler themes next .]
So upbringing first in early years it would have been about Saturnian themes then transformed into Uranian themes .
2nd house (self worth) , him feeling guilty of not being able to protect his brothers , a restriction  (Saturnian theme) then leading the clan to in order to work for the former cause,a revolution  (Uranian theme )  ,
With his venus in  2nd house (creativity,) in aquraius (ideas) , could show why he fell in love with the idea  creating the village .
3rd house - Pisces
The 3rd house (siblings )being in pisces with his Neptune  ( dreams ) could be interpreted as his dream of protecting his siblings . He could have peaceful around siblings , since Neptune in its natural sign .
Izuna through Madara ‘s Birth Chart
3rd house ( Communication) being in pisces (other worldly -Neptune ) , can be seen when talks people are confused , not being able understand what he means , he talks like an old soul ,full of  wisdom , (Jupiter ruled pisces ) not just to fill silence but to give meaning to words .
This can be seen in two instances
1)Jupiterian theme/Enlightened Guru  -when explains to obito (The famous Wake up to reality speech)
2) Neptinian theme/ Confusing words  - when he insulted naruto ,but he didn't understand so obito had to explain it to him .
4th house - Aries
4th house (Family life ) in Aries (Warrior ) , with him being born during warring states , almost all uchihas being shinobi . Family possesing weapons is in fact true . Family Values could be Ariean themes( goal driven , developing power )
The ruler being mars is in 8h (things that we hide)These things were hidden from the outsiders ,(people know about Uchiha's powers but speak in hidden ways about it ). The way of shinobi could be seen from this .
5th house - Taurus
5th house represents ( creativity , pleasure  and also children ) with Taurus (building things , creativity , guarding, stubbornness)  here , we can see him enjoying the planning of village when he and hashirama were  children , inorder to protect other children including their brothers .
We also see him running towards to the little girl ( hiruzen' wife ) when she falls to save her . It also explains why he was so stubborn on building the village his way .
6th house - Gemini
6th house represents ( Daily chores , routine,  also enemies  ) in Gemini ( Quick fast , dual ) and top of this there is Uranus (Invention, uniqueness, ideas )here .
We see him practicing daily with hashirama who from the enemy clan  ( deep down they both knew it)
We see him sometime joking with him both also training seriously like shinobis , with Uranus here he was called a genius in his day to day life for his victories against adult senjus .
7th house - Cancer
7th house represents (partnership , shadow self ) , in cancer ( emotions, family ) with moon being its ruler , increases  it more , but outsiders don't see it as he his shadow traits ( hidden kindness) .
One can see him and izuna ( family ) leading the clan together as equals . He trusts his family for work , seen when he chooses obito .
He even choose to work with Hashirama cause he was caring to his own family , and that's why he describes Madara kind cause that's the side he saw in their partnership.
8th house - Leo
8th house  represents ( taxes ,sudden events , crisis,  even death , things we hide and bury, occult  ) in leo (creativity , stage , aesthetic ) with his mars and jupiter conjunction .He was in the underground tunnels (8h) while acting on his plan ( mars) Now we see him almost staging (how actors die in a scene but bot really ) his death , in the VoTE battle .
8h is also manipulation he was manipulated by zetsu , and then he manipulated obito for the Action (Mars ) on the plan .His actions (mars ) save obito from dying (crisis situation) .His knowledge( jupiter )in occult ( the sage six paths lore ,him summoning the gedo statue ) was expanded .
9th house  - Virgo
9th house represents (higher education , belief system , philosophy ) and Virgo (analysis , cerebral , service ) .The ruler being mercury in capicon lead him to be cynical and skeptical .This was seen , when he analysed and found fault in hashrima's belief that village is above the individuals , stated his priorities are backwards during VoTE battle .Madara believed that he was giving a service to humanity by putting them in an infinite tsukyomi so planned every step in detail by studying the stone tablet for this belief .
10th house- Libra
10h represents ( Public image , business , structure , government ) in libra ( partnership , balance, diplomacy) . So no wonder madara became a leader of the clan , but  what lead to his downfall. The ruler of libra ( venus) is in aquarius , although being the leader , he would have been very aloof and  got the image of cold , uncaring. So izuna being his partner to lead may have dealt with people majorly . Also it being in 2nd house (self, possessions) he took izuna who was closest to him abandoning his other clansmen when they were about to lose to enemy.
11th house -Scorpio
11th house represents ( ideas ,community , gains , friends) and Scorpio ( obsessions , passion ,intensity also transformations ) with pluto here rulling it gets intense
This is seen throughout his life , he didn't have many friends but he had one , hashirama .This explains his obsession with his friend ,with pluto it only got intense over the years so much that he waited to fight the real hashirama during the 4th war and was even hurt when hashirama rejected his offer .It is almost poetic he was backstabbed by his only friend . His transformation ( sage mode ) is seen by the shinobis ( community )
12th house - Sagittarius
12th house ( other worldly things , isolation , wisdom ) Sagittarius here almost feels at home alongside  Saturn . Saturn being his chart ruler he spent most of the time in isolation (12th h)in the cave and genjutsu . Putting himself in genjustu day after day , for years this is patience and hard work (saturn) while gaining knowledge  (sagittarius).

[VIOLENTLY KICKS DOWN YOUR DOOR] ONLINE IM HABITED TO USING THE NAME BRI AND WELCOME TO MY CAVING AU
(I recognize caves are a genuinely distressing topic to a lot of people but I'm chronically under ground and here to kill off the beloved cast of Marble Hornets. This is your warning, the actual details with images of caves for visuals are located below the cut.)
I know parallels are going to be drawn to the burried from Magnus Archives so I'll open it with if you want to interpret that as the implied influence go for it! My friends (mostly @youkoartemis tbh) have assigned me avatar of the burried and I wear that title with pride (after crying about being bullied)
Anyway onto the AU!
Our antagonist, as canon- Alex! He is also chronically underground and lets the gang know hey! I've found this underground cavern and nobody else in our local circle seems to know about it from the hints I've dropped. Lets go explore it; maybe impressive breakthroughs will be found in this one! The depths are calling I spend every waking and resting moment thinking of this space needing others to descend into the depths. It needs it
The gang! They actually have done underground trips together and all have their own roles within exploration! Tim is great with directions and does have underground sketching and mapping skills. His mental maps even underground are frankly impressive! Jay! He's great at exploring smaller spaces especially those that you have to squeeze through. He's usually the first into small spaces (willing because he loves doing it) and will report back. He's told the gang that dead ends are ahead more than once. Brian! He's great with vertical and pathfinding especially in precarious sections, he's also has the groups highest degree of first aid capabilities. Seth! Kind of the scientist of the group and thus the photographer- he with Tim logs the groups progress and will compare spelothem with other areas they've been to start drawing conclusions on how spaces and formations they find are made. These special skills have nothing to do with their demise! They have everything to do with their demise
In what order everything happens is honestly a toss up though i will be putting then in an order just to get it all out. Seth is the only exception though. He's last bc he's the camera man!
First up Brian! And honestly the inspiration of this entire post! (No surprise comsideting the online name!) Very similar to his canon tbh. Only he thinks everything is normal and fine. He tied the line securely, he knows it will hold, he's done multiple decents. He even climbs for fun! Was it secure? Was foul play involved? No one knows in the depths
Tumblr media
(The image that inspired it all)
Jay! He likes small spaces! I don't understand the fear (maybe youko has a point...) so i don't think I need to go into depth with this one... but heres some visuals!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tim...the surveyer... maybe its the panic of seeing his friends hurt (broken) stuck (trapped) maybe it was his mistake that started it all. But have you ever been so certain of where you are going only to find out your dead wrong? Yeah its not fun. But is it his fault?
Tumblr media
Seth...our cameraman. Dutifully logging the doomed trip. But everything has been a freak accident right? We will be able to find our way out right? When we do we will be able to get help for Jay right? He's just stuck after all...Tim's somewhere in here and with a true search party we can find him right? Brian...we can get home at the very least... right? We will be okay right Alex?
Tumblr media
Alex.....
He arrives home, with none of the joy in his eyes none of the usual noise of his 4 friends that usually accompany him. There's a look in his eye. Amy knows something has gone terribly wrong. Before he says a word, she has texted Jessica to contact the SAR. She never liked the depths.

I always saw Obi-Wan as an asexual kind of guy. Maybe that's because I'm old enough to remember when we only had the OT and he was already old. And dead for most of it. Anyway, part of why I love Star Wars is the emphasis on friendships and how strong and rewarding they can be without romantic feelings (although Han/Leia was my first ship). May we all have such people in our lives. All interpretations are valid of course and people love what they love, just wanted to share another point of view!
I mean, that's basically how I also envision him: my "Obi-Wan Kenobi as queer text" meta described my personal headcanon of him as biromantic asexual, and that's what the other post seemed to be hinting at in: re whatever they put in the book. After all, remember kids, ignore the exclusionists: asexuality is a full and complete queer identity on its own, and doesn't need other modifiers or qualifiers to be considered legitimate. So yeah. But as I said, he has radiated such intense bisexual sass disaster energy for the longest time, and I am frankly shocked that the Disney overlords allowed even a single sentence in a YA book that might hint at confirming this. To be honest, I don't care one way or another what the Mouse says about anything, particularly SW canon, since I reject what they have done with most of it. But hey. It's nice to have anyway.
As I also mentioned in the tags, Obi-Wan is a particularly formative character for me as a queer adult, since some of my first-ever forays into fandom, fic, and slash came as a result of reading TPM-era fics with him back in the dark days, with badly designed Web pages and SLASH!! content warnings. I imprinted on him as queer long before I knew what that was either for him or for me, and so I have a certain nostalgic perspective on it. (Also, nobody could read the Revenge of the Sith novelization in 2005, come out totally emotionally destroyed, and go, "yeah, Obi-Wan is totally straight." Even if I didn't, again, actually consciously realize this at the time.)
Likewise, Obi-Wan's appearance in the original trilogy has always fit the "celibate or asexual wise-old-mentor" stereotype, who exists mostly to guide the hero but doesn't have particular passions or motivations of his own. Then they cast Ewan McGregor as the younger version of him, and Ewan McGregor is likewise very attractive. But then in prequel-verse, all of Obi-Wan's most formative and important emotional relationships were with men (Qui-Gon, Bail Organa, etc) and then, of course, Anakin and the "it's a love story" Obi-Wan Kenobi series. So the more canon we got past just Alec Guinness, the more intensely Obi-Wan read as queer to me. The man cannot even sit straight (see his pose in the Council seat in ROTS), drops his cloaks with utter drama, sasses people, and is the utter opposite of toxic masculinity. He just has Big Queer Energy, in other words, and I felt it for a long time before I was able to properly name it in either him or myself.
Indeed, Obi-Wan would read pretty clearly as gay to me, except for the fact that they apparently added in some pseudo-girlfriend in the Clone Wars animated series and other assorted female interests in the expanded-universe books. Which, quite frankly, can't help but sound like "welp, this famous and beloved character is TOO queer-coded, better add in some comphet to tone that down." However, aside from my personal attachment to queer Obi-Wan, there's another aspect to it which I think is touching and important, and that is the fact that Luke is also often headcanoned as queer/gay/bi of some description (which Mark Hamill has enthusiastically supported). Considering that the original trilogy came out in the late '70s and early '80s, just as we were losing what should have been our entire generation of gay/queer ancestors to AIDS, I would find it very lovely if Luke, a queer man, was being mentored by Obi-Wan, his queer elder, in a way that we were so often denied the chance to have in reality. So yes. There are a lot of layers to it, in my view, and as I said, I don't care whether they bother to put one sentence in an EU book or not. The heart knows what it knows. Ahem. ;)

MITSKI - MY LOVE MINE ALL MINE
youtube
(Mostly) Our Love Ours All Ours
[7.64]
Ian Mathers: Critical support for maybe our greatest current musician, who keeps the really key things in mind. Namely, never releasing a record that crosses the 33-minute mark. Sure, it's more important that this beautifully intense murmur of a song hits me square in the heart in ways that are too personal to articulate here right now, but I don't want to lose sight of the 33-minute thing either. [9]
Andrew Karpan: Sugary and alive, Mitski deserves this, a hit record that will likely be remembered as the millennial answer to "Fade Into You." Or, as Mitski says it best, in a marketing appearance promoting the song for the Genius brand, "to love is truly the best and most beautiful thing I ever did." [10]
Nortey Dowuona: Mitski is apparently a star now. For several years, she made earnest, plaintive songs which were received by a small but willing audience who was delighted to feel the same way as a generational talent who could sincerely speak to them. Then, by Be The Cowboy, she blossomed into a star, something more than a person who made earnest plaintive songs, a massive ball of heat and light who shone so brightly she couldn't see anything anymore. And of course, she tried to return to being at the very least a white dwarf, but supporting a solar system is so tied to the fact of being alive and being an artist that exploding and erasing the ties that bound her could not be done by deleting Twitter. Mitski, just like the sun that spins the planet on which I wrote this word, was not going to implode because it was valid for her health, her ability to live with being a creator of life would return. And eventually she would return to music as well, creating this slight, barely there country ballad about the possessive nature of her love. The sun loves us just as much as Mitski loves you and could exist without us too, but who would behold its beauty? Not Genius, that's who. [9]
Hannah Jocelyn: This song floated by without incident on first listen to The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We - songs like "The Deal" and "I Love Me After You" were more impressive to me, for its reconciliation of Mitski's claustrophobic distortion with her more traditional songwriting. Then it went stratospheric on TikTok then it went stratospheric everywhere. Maybe it's because the unassuming quality made it perfect as background music, maybe because it's two minutes; it might also be really damn good. The qualities that make Mitski so beloved are still there, especially her unpredictable chord progressions and intensity -- she can't go through a love song without a line as theatrical as "nothing in the world belongs to me." Yet there's no self-sabotage or dissonance; it's just plainly beautiful and timeless. [8]
Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: She's always tended towards the jazzy and dirgelike, but this is Mitski in peak form: the lyric is a sketch exquisitely rendered -- while on Be the Cowboy, she wrote short stories in her stanzas, this is something even more skeletal, a narrative embedded within the slightest of narrative shifts. Patrick Hyland's production work has always worked to accentuate the more subtle accomplishments of Mitski's music; here he outdoes himself, taking what could have been an overly fussy mid-century torch song and allowing it to breathe with a certain country plainspokeness. And yet I do not love "My Love Mine All Mine" quite as much as I want to love it -- it feels like a song that answers all of its own questions from an artist that does her best when she leaves more open to interpretation. [8]
Vikram Joseph: There's really nothing wrong with what Mitski actually gives us here - a tasteful, timeless-sounding ballad, smooth and crystalline with pedal steel melting into the scenery. I think I just miss the angst and dissonance of her older work - even when Modern Mitski sounds sad, she's sad in an oddly arch way which sounds like she's three degrees of separation from the actual sad person. As a pathos-laden expression of dedication, "My Love Mine All Mine" at least works better than "Me And My Husband", a song I will never be able to take seriously, but it does very little for me. [5]
Joshua Minsoo Kim: Mitski is better when casual poignancy isn't the point. Her best songs steamroll over you, be they big or small, sad or extra sad. "My Love Mine All Mine" finds a nice Goldilocks zone to secure her a hit, but this lovely ballad is simply just that. [4]
Alfred Soto: I like Mitski when she gets sinister or worried over programmed beats and yards of guitar. This synth-country landscape flattens her like it did Jenny Lewis and Kacey Musgraves. [4]
Katherine St Asaph: The Nashville instrumentation is just decoration. And the TikTok virality is misleading (or not, if you ignore the conventional wisdom that everything that blows up there is memeshit). On Be the Cowboy, Mitski's music began a slow arc toward Jerome Kern balladry and songbook standards, and "My Love Mine All Mine" continues the drift. What she loses in visceral emotion, she gains in haunting lineage. [8]
Tara Hillegeist: "Lynchian" is an adjective applied to excess most often in film, rather than music; Mitski's career provides ample food for thought as to the reasons for such a disparity. The birthing pangs of her current style were anything but as simple, as many of her past musical compositions often aspired to be -- to pack such naive melodies with enough antic heartache that one's ribcage bears the internal bruise is an aspiration that can easily go awry and leave one stranded in the land of the maudlin and mawkish, rather than piercingly insightful, and there's more than a few examples of both littering Mitski's back catalog by now. But to listen to "My Love"'s almost lysergic deployment of a swooning orchestral blush; the way Mitski's voice ripens almost to rotting with that obsessive slow-dance of a chorus ... this is music for the bugs to pick clean an American corpse to. Angelo Badalamenti would be proud. [9]
Tim de Reuse: Dripping with Nashville cash, Mitski's pathos no longer derives from a plucky indie-upstart unpredictability. There is no unsteadiness in her voice anymore; she chews the microphone to sing about the end of her life, wishing only for a symbolic, cosmic victory. Here she plays a ghost, or a corpse, preserved in a glossy, gelatinous mix, and barely able to raise her voice above a casual mutter. It's gorgeous, and also deeply unnerving. I didn't know Mitski could do unnerving. Even in death, she surprises. [8]
Jonathan Bradley: A twilit romantic slow jam that draws cozy darkness as literally from its slow organ drift and sepia pedal steel as it does its actual moonbeam lyric. This is comfortable terrain for Mitski, whom I picture composing every one of her songs while driving along a rural road on a dark night, but there's no shame in repeating yourself if you're good at it. [7]
Brad Shoup: In my household, "My Love Mine All Mine" is most notable for getting Caitlin Rose into the Top 40. She's only here on vocals, but her ethos -- cozy existentialism that uses the pedal steel like a flashlight -- is all over this. This may not be as distinctive as, like, the plaintive noise-pop of "I Don't Smoke." But the sway is still the same. And her impossible requests are just as devastating. [8]
Oliver Maier: Sometimes I don't think I know how to write about music. I think everyone who tries it has probably felt that way at some point, some sense of the inadequacy of their words, the impulse to throw up their hands and say "just listen to it" (complimentary) or "just listen to it" (derogatory), because what do you say about a song that it doesn't say itself? What an extraordinary act of arrogance to attach yourself to something someone made and try to explain it to anyone, however careful or empathetic you are in doing so, however many times you qualify your opinion. I imagine this anxiety probably lurks in some form, in some place, inside everyone who has tried to do this stupid, circuitous, fucking frustrating thing. People like to talk about things, though. It feels good to do, like a magic bridge that you can feel forming between yourself and someone else when they articulate something that was inside you too. I listened to this song non-stop for a week when it came out, and I barely know what to say about it. I think it's wonderful. Just listen to it. I feel very emotional thinking about Mitski and the path of her career in a way that makes me a bit embarrassed. I feel very emotional hearing her sing about the fundamental, indissoluble value of a feeling that she has, only holding it, not needing to clutch or cradle it, letting its light seep out from between her fingers. I find it so moving to hear someone who has -- largely unwillingly, it must be said -- become a symbol of self-pity and depressive angst sing with such easy generosity towards themselves. It's hard when you are so used to seeing a magic bridge between yourself and another person collapse, or perhaps when you rarely see it built at all, to reserve some dignity for the silly, hopeful part of yourself that keeps seeking out planning permission. Just listen to it. What an extraordinary act of arrogance to attach yourself to another person and think they could see you and think about you the way that you do them. Sometimes I don't think I know how to be in love. I'm going to keep trying anyway. [10]

jesse & lake songs
nobody asked but here's my list of jesslake songs, minus the ones i found from the fandom which i can make a separate list of if y'all want. i'm here to validate myself lol so these are all the ones i came up with on my own (some of em are specific to just lake or just jesse and some of them make absolutely no sense to anyone else but yknow)
lake songs
Renegade by Styx
the whole song is about being on the run from the cops and in fear for your life do i really need to say much more. plus its a banger. it's one of those songs i would definitely make an animatic for if i had the patience
My Silver Lining by First Aid Kit
first aid kit has been my comfort band, if you will, for years, and i've known this song for years, but recently i actually listened to the lyrics properly (auditory processing issues who) and was like holy shit this screams lake. it's about being stuck someplace you hate and wanting to break out. i was gonna point out some of the lyrics that really stick out to me but it's just. the WHOLE song. but if i had to pick my favorite for this context, it'd be the chorus:
"i hear a voice calling / calling out for me / these shackles i've made in an attempt to be free / be it for reason, be it for love / i won't take the easy road."
(and like. there's always a chance i'm massively mis interpretting the lyrics so,,, idk lol)
jesse songs
Empty Page by The Crane Wives
yknow how at some point basically everyone in our fandom realizes "omg the b2 title 'cracked reflection' applies to jesse too because he copies the people around him!!!" it's that but in a banger song
it's also a little depressing but let jesse be sad sometimes ppl he needs catharsis too
jesse & lake songs
Rebel Heart by First Aid Kit
this one is in this section cause it fits for both of them. like it could see the lyrics being from either of their perspectives. it's also another one where its basically just the WHOLE song that i feel fits but here's some highlights:
"you told me once i had a rebel heart / i don't know if that's true / but i believe you saw something in me that lives inside you too"
"i know you truly saw me / even if just for a while / maybe that's why it hurts now / to leave it all behind"
"i don't know what it is that makes me run / that makes me wanna shatter everything that i've done / why do i keep dreaming of you? / why do i keep dreaming of you? / is it all because of my rebel heart?"
this is another one i can picture an animatic for. curse you adhd
Wait for Me from Hadestown
(i personally like either the concept album version or the nytw/live version best for them)
listen. i'm never gonna be over the parallels between jesse and lake's story and orpheus and eurydice's (in hadestown specifically, lol). obviously the chorus is the part that really fits, but it just reminds me so much of the mall car, the wasteland, and so on, of all the shit that both jesse and lake go through to get back to each other and to get home. dont touch me im emotional again
Vanilla Twilight by Owl City
"please i just want u to hold me again" the song. also it's just nostalgic for me cause owl city my beloved. reminds me of AUs where jesse can't get back on the train and is just stuck missing lake, not knowing what to do and just generally Being Depressed Now
"the silence isn't so bad / till i look at my hands and feel sad / 'cause the spaces between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly"
"drenched in vanilla twilight / i'll sit on the front porch all night / waist deep in thought because when i think of you, i don't feel so alone"
Ribs by Lorde
this one is mostly just vibes. as far as the lyrics the most i can understand is "growing up sucks." i found the song through a connverse animatic and the connverse fandom got me into infinity train so i guess my brain connected them? but the vibes are so good.
"you're the only friend i need / sharing beds like little kids"
Little Soldiers by The Crane Wives
i almost forgot this one cause i forgot to put it on my playlist cause i hear it all the time on cd in my car. my GOD this is the most jesslake song out there i swear to god. i don't even know how to articulate it more than that. please just go listen to it
the "i swear that i loved you/i swear that you loved me" parts get to me man. holy shit.

(A/N) Hello! I know it's been a while since I've posted cuz depressions a bitch. But I want to give some exposition on the two voices we had in (Y/N)s POV.
THE SNAKES PT.ONE
THE CORRUPTED ONE
The snakes are a representation of their malevolent and benevolent intentions. Imagine the snakes from Mune guardian of the moon.
Tumblr media
These guys↑. One corrupts and one saves. It's basically the “angel and devil on your shoulder” idea.
THE CORRUPTED ONE
This one puts negative thoughts in your head and makes you see everyone and thing as an enemy. It corrupts the soul and body. If you are corrupted for a long about of time you will start to develop corruption marks. Think of black fingertips that soon corrupt more and more till your whole arm is a dark inky black. Coughing up black blood or becoming tired and weak till you can't move. The Corruption eats away at your body till all that's remaining is your spirit. I imagine that after you die from corruption the candle maker can't reincarnate you since it still is attached to your soul. So your soul is left to wander as a dark demonic spirit, wandering through the land of the forgotten, underworld, and maybe even the surface if it's strong enough.
THE BEASTS
They will be shadow beasts that roam around mostly at night. They look for souls to take in return for their but it's never enough. They take on an interpretation of what made you accept a deal with the corrupted one. Such as Greed will make you look like a large gilded monster that people will hunt for their own greed. Which leads them to finding the corrupted one and making a deal with it and ending up like the others who chose its path. There are many more things that could lead you to making a deal with the corrupted one such as withing to resurrect a dead loved one. In that case, you would turn into a large-horned beast who's horns curve up to make a heart shape if seen from the front. Black, magenta, red, and pink scales, fur, and feathers shine like rubies. Spikes that hold poison like your back. Your sales being a vital part of a love potion causes people to hunt you down and kill you for your scales, making a deal with the Corrupted one to find you and the cycle starts all over again. There are much more reasons to become one and what they will end up looking like but I'll just leave that to the imagination.
(A/N) I will be posting “THE SAVIOR” one tomorrow and how our beloved protagonist got them in the first place. Also how Zatz knows about them.
From: Your beloved author♡

Does anyone know any instances where espers seem to be taken over by their divine patron?
I was talking about this with a friend of mine, about how sometimes espers behave very differently and its usually when they have a power up.
I think the main example is in story mode when Freddy gets defeated and BREAKS his beloved shades aka literally the thing he cherishes the most, like as prone to violence as he is that just doesn't seem like something HE would do, and when he does so he howls and you can see him burst with power, when Leon shoots him it even seems like he was about to pounce Brynn, Drew and Q, he looked as if he was about to go on four legs but the warning shot took him out of whatever he was gonna do
Theres also how when Jiang Jiuli goes berserk he doesn't remember anything of what he does in this state and in this state he doesn't seem to care who he's hurting to the point he offes his own family yet he doesn't remember anything about it, as if, it wasn't him who did it
My friend pointed out Gaius as well but I dont really agree, his point was that when Gaius does his ultimate he's not HIM anymore but Zeus himself
Theres also Li Ling in one of the trailers where he seems to mentally struggle with esperhood as if he's hallucinating and fighting another "him" which I interpreted as Nezha
This is mostly our interpretation but theres something very interesting about gods actually using their espers

Title: The Left Hand of Darkness
Author: Ursula K. LeGuin
Rating: 4/5 stars
One of those books that I decided to read because I've heard so much about it but had never actually read.
It was, uh, an interesting experience, and I can see why LeGuin gets so much love from the SFF/rationalist-adjacent parts of Tumblr.
There's a kind of moral and aesthetic vision that LeGuin is projecting on the reader that I guess I'm into -- kind of like an ultra-technophobic version of Arthur C. Clarke:
"We live in a world dominated by abstract thinking, in which thought itself has become more important than flesh, blood, or even eating and drinking. But what if this wasn't right? What if the mind, and the processes of thought, were less important than the physical sensations and rhythms that we experience in our bodies? Let's imagine a society that has figured this out, and has evolved to live a much more pleasing and efficient life."
At least, that's how I interpreted the attitude of the book.
But then again, maybe this is simply a problem of too much abstraction.
LeGuin doesn't seem to have any interest in being a prophet to the posthuman future, she's just more or less saying, "what if we could get out of the mess our own society is in, perhaps by way of a hypothetical example of a better, if less glitzy, society?"
It's a curious book. The more you read, the more you begin to think that LeGuin had some specific '50s hippie-type thinker in mind. In a way, I don't think I've ever read such an out-and-out "hippy-fic" novel as this one -- not in terms of its subject matter, just in terms of its sensibility, its aesthetic. Not that I know much about hippy fiction, and I'm sure there are other examples.
I've heard some people say that what's interesting about LeGuin is that her books are "soft sci-fi," relying more on sociological or anthropological constructions than on hard sf tropes like "quantum teleportation." But I don't know. The sociology/anthropology here is mostly just an excuse for LeGuin to expound on her view of the world.
The 50% that gave this book four stars, as opposed to five, is its failure to get its ideas across. That's really all there is to it. The society here is pretty cool. The people have a good, tight-knit structure for doing things and their culture has some interesting ways of conveying thought without words. But a lot of the terminology is sort of confusing (of course it is, how am I supposed to "get" this culture if no one is actually talking to me?) and a lot of the scenes seem artificial, like she just needed to get some generic idea across instead of something more insightful.
Really, I'm not sure why this is such a beloved classic, apart from its general "this is a thought-provoking novel about a radical new society" thing. I can see it being a classic because it's an unusual and ambitious example of the kind of thing that people liked in the 60s and 70s. But it's more interesting as a document of 60s hippie-ish thought than as a modern classic of literature. I'm not even sure it was a good idea for LeGuin to write, since the kind of people who read about this book will either already have the ideas, or have a prejudice against the ideas, or will be put off by the strangeness.

what doesn't kill you makes you stronger
stevetony meta | fills the "truth" square and the metagaming challenge for the @stevetonygames <3
If there’s one thing I love about Steve Rogers and Tony Stark as individual characters, that’s one of the multitudes of parallels one can establish between them: both of them have turned what was supposed to be their worst weakness into their strongest attribute.
The fact that that’s something inevitably linked to illness as a concept only fascinates me more.
On the one hand, we have Steven Grant Rogers, this sick Brooklyn kid born in 1918. Being sick was the fact that defined his life during his first twenty years, both for good and bad. But I’m here to focus on its positive aspects: the incredible level of empathy Steve developed precisely due to having found himself in such a vital position, and the stubbornness he inevitably became known for, for there wasn’t another way for a person like him to achieve what he desired —that chance to prove himself. His sickness, and the way he fought to achieve what he wanted in spite of it and thanks to it, have always been important aspects of this character, just as his gentleness. Whoever has read anything I’ve written about him can find that if there’s a common thread, that’s his kindness. A kindness that I interpret as a fingerprint of his vital experiences.
So yes, Steve’s sickness could easily have been his cage, and instead, it bloomed into his greatest strengths: his certainty of what he wants, and that kindness we all love so much.
On the other hand, we have Anthony Edward Stark, our beloved genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist. Tony didn’t grow up with a marked weakness, at least not so apparent as Steve’s was. His weakest point didn’t arrive until Afghanistan, where he survived in spite of all odds. That wound in the middle of the chest, all those shrapnel pieces stuck next to his heart… they were supposed to be his doom. And yet, he turned them into an opportunity, the opportunity that, would, in the end, contribute to saving the universe. He used his greatest strength —his intelligence— to tackle what was supposed to be a great weakness, and managed —mostly— to turn it into a strength in itself.
For me, both Steve and Tony are a great example of how, even in the worst conditions, one can strive to achieve their desires.
And how what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
