Adding to your tragedy post: i agree with your take on cosmic tragedy and "love wasn't enough" tragedy but i have to add the hyper-specific example of faith chapter 3's bad ending. It is entirely optional to the point where it's basically a secret ending but it expresses a deep guilt and fear and sorrow on the part of the main character, a refusal to move past his traumas and regrets that ultimately destroys and dooms him alongside everybody he loves. if you haven't seen it i recommend deeply https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1mb3hLtitk&t=0
Oh yeh im fully aware of how much faith slaps, BALLER game. I really apreciate that you can just choose an ending where the character buckles under the pressure, and cant fight anymore. in a way, it's awfully realistic, that you couldnt just keep going

Thoughts on tragedies? For me, it's entirely dependent on the media, because I don't particularly read sadfics for mlp, but I will happily eat up any fics about the aftermath of the main story for pmd2(especially if it has hero x partner for that extra heart-rending factor)
Personaly, i much preffer tragedies when theyre cosmic; lovecraftian, really. By that i mean like. "I have no mouth and i must scream" or even that banger of a game, "Returnal" stories about hells of your own making and stories about pain; but its harder to get into tragedies that are just "hey what if this cute character you like suffered a lot" I enjoy tragedies that feel like purposeful purposelessness. good ol "damn you see that shit? anyways im rod sterling"
another good kinda tragedy is the kind thats like "there was love here, it meant something, but it didn't save them". That's a banger
