The more I see my media telling me to mourn, the angrier I get.
I never knew this woman. The only personal impact she had on my life was when one of her relatives died or married, I would get a day off school. I never knew Elizabeth, I knew the Queen. The Queen who wore a crown coated in diamonds stolen from other countries, a crown drenched in the blood her family collected over lifetimes of imperialism.
I should not be told to mourn a 96 year old woman who lived a life of obsene wealth and experience and died surrounded by loved ones, aided by the best healthcare in the world.
The crown disgusts me and anyone who wears it is not someone I mourn. The Queen and her family earnt none of their influence, they earnt none of my respect, and I do not mourn them

"the Gabe and Sally dynamic in the show is abusive" and "the way they've portrayed Gabe in the show is distinctly different from his book counterpart and fans can criticize that" are two discussions that can coexist
#I understand that this is hard topic to navigate#but me saying that /they've changed Gabe and that's consequently altered the dynamic he has with Sally in way I don't like/#is NOT me saying I don't think what they've portrayed onscreen is non-abusive#or that I WANT to see him abuse her???#its just the guy in the show while clearly controlling and abusive (emotionally and financially so far)#...I don't believe he's the guy who's presence was so horrid and disgusting MONSTERS avoided him#I wouldn't call him /Smelly/#in the book his abuse (all forms) is much more overt#(and just to be painstakingly clear: abuse doesn't have to be overt to be abuse)#but the guy in the show does not have the same presence as the guy in the book#book Gabe is menacing#he growls and he threatens and both Sally and Percy have developed very specific responses to deal with it#I've seen one take saying that people can't recognize the abuse in the show because its not physical (yet?)#but even disregarding the physical abuse entirely#if you compare the book scene and TV show scene of Percy arriving home and he and Sally readying for Montauk#there is a pretty stark difference in tone#and in how both Sally and Percy interact with Gabe#in the book Sally goes out of her way to avoid /provoking/ Gabe and asks Percy to do the same until they can leave for Montauk#and Gabe is just itching for any excuse to keep them home#and imo if Book Sally had said the things that show Sally did to Gabe#Gabe wouldn't have let them gone!#and again im not saying that the show's depiction is nonabusive#or unrealistic#im saying its simply /different/ than the book#and im upset that it doesn't feel like dynamic depicted the book#and no book sally is no simpering wilting flower#but she's also not what they depicted in the show either#pjo adaptation#sally jackson#pjo

I know it's quite the topic of debate, but I thought I'd share my thoughts on Strauss getting kicked out of camp anyways.
Just to be clear, Strauss having a place in the gang proves that Dutch doesn't follow his own code unless it benefits him in some way. It's true that Strauss brings in money, but the fact that Dutch said himself that robbing banks is more dignified than usury - loaning money with insane interest to the poor - says an awful lot. He knows exactly what Strauss does to lure in the poor to take up his offers and still allows him to do it.
In a way, Strauss and Dutch are similar in how they lure in the poor and destitute to work for them. That's likely why Dutch has no strong feelings towards Strauss and his work, because they aren't too different from one another.
Common criticisms I see for Arthur kicking out Strauss is how unfair it is since "Strauss is as bad as the rest of the gang". While I would usually agree to an extent, but Strauss is a unique case.
Robbing banks, rich folk in trains, shops and killing lawmen are still big crimes that cannot be downplayed, but compared to deliberately prying on the poor - and offering them loans they will never be able to pay off - is sick work on its own. Especially when Strauss is so nonchalant about it, calling it simply "legal work" with physical abuse involved.
Strauss stayed in the gang because they protected him and he was able to use Arthur as means for guaranteeing payment. It's worth noting how much Arthur despised the work too, he loathed it entirely and his resentment for Strauss built up until he finally took action.
To highlight, majority of Strauss' "clients" were working themselves (and their families) to death even if they were already sick themselves. Families with children, the elderly, the ill, destitute, starving and working themselves ragged to pay off an impossible debt.
And Strauss knows this, that's why he still did it because he knew these poor families had no choice.
Compare that to robbing a train full of rich folk.
Almost laughable, right? The rich can afford to replace their stolen goods, Leviticus Cornwall can afford another train, the city can afford to reimburse the banks. The rich, however, cared very little for the poor. These destitute families had nobody to help them and these loans seemed like answered prayers until they needed to be paid off.
And they were beaten for not being able to pay.
The gang never targeted the poor for just monetary gain, apart from Strauss.
Strauss is a vulture, going for the easy pickings in his work. I believe he deserved to be kicked out and I agree with Arthur that it was long overdue.

Like, the reason I'm always suspicious of people going, "I'm not transphobic, I can't be transphobic! I'm attracted to/date trans people!" is that there is a huge difference between seeing trans people as your inherent equal that you happen to sometimes also feel attraction toward and seeing them as objects to own and dehumanize through any means necessary.
And if the only reason you can see for why you aren't transphobic is that you're so attracted to us, then (in my eyes) you are the latter.

atwow hot take:
if jake had said his "son for a son" shit out loud and spider had heard him, he would have been so beyond pissed, he would be seeing red.
spider loved his little siblings so much, neteyam included, even after they grew apart. he loved them like they were his own blood and protected them like they were too (we see a lot more of them together in the comics, where spider is the big brother without a doubt). neteyam's death most certainly rocked him hard, even if he hasn't really been able to show it (how could he? he's already going through all the shit with his dad and the RDA and their nonsense, he can't grieve around neytiri, he's just so tired after it all. he doesn't have the room or the energy to grieve yet)
so if jake had the audacity to say that to/around spider not even a few hours after he watched his little brother get shot after coming to save him, after he stared at the bullet hole in his back, after he watched him take his last breaths, after he watched the light leave his eyes, after he watched his little brother die for him; if he said that while his little brother's body lay in a pool of his own blood not even ten feet away, not even cold yet, blood still clinging to his chest, the scent of it still filling the air: he would have lost his shit.
because the disrespect for his brother is wild.
jake was an active player in spider's neglect and abuse for the last 16 years, he let it happen, he helped it happen. he tried to send spider with the humans, tried to take him away from his siblings, from the forests, from eywa to live with his foster family that didn't love him (not to mention Nash was an asswipe of epic proportions) and the RDA of all people. he had referred to spider as a stray animal since he was little. he was the reason spiders life was hell.
and after all that, years and years of putting him in shit positions and allowing him to suffer the fate of being forever unloved and uncared for (by an adult authority figure, cause I love the kids, but they don't make up for the gap left by a parent), this is what it took for jake to care about him? his little brother had to die in front of him first? he had to be traded out to fill the space of a corpse, to fill in the gap left by his little brother's death?
in canon, spider was in deep in shock with nothing to break him from it, he wasn't in the place to really think about any of it, and I'm sure we're gonna see this anger in the coming movies, but if jake had said it out loud, that would have been enough to snap spider right out of it, and he would have given jake a piece of his mind, I just know it.
#he loves neteyam too much to let jake do that. to say that. he'd never allow it.#spider is such a good big brother. he loves his siblings too much.#if jake had said that to his face there would have been hell to pay. regardless of how out of it spider was with shock/grief/pure exhaustio#spider doesn't even care about the disrespect being done to him by that statement. he just cares about neteyam.#cause how could a father say that? how could he just move on. fill the gap with a “stray” as he puts it. take him in after all he'd done to#him? it wasn't fair#it wasn't fair to him and it most certainly wasn't fair to neteyam#I love spider. he deserves a family that loves him and wants him. he wants it. but this is not what either of us asked for.#that line has always rubbed me wrong. and it would have rubbed spi wrong too. I just know it.#I really hope we see spider express his rightful anger/disgust to this whole thing next movie#though I worry he will be too busy feeling guilty over everything and feeling like he just has to be grateful. but one can hope.#he deserves to be angry#and his dynamic with neteyam deserves to be explored. cause its a crime that it was ignored in the movie.#avatar 2#avatar the way of water#spider socorro#miles spider socorro#miles socorro#neteyam#neteyam sully#neteyam te suli tsyeyk'itan#jake sully#I wanna punch that man so hard istg. I can't with him. I won't say I hate him. but lord have mercy I can't with him.#my baby boys deserved better#spider was neteyam's big brother. that's my agenda#we need to talk about them more

Okay stop, look, he uses ✨the tone✨ when he talks to ladies (or when he's trying to persuade them with something).
Tumblr media
And as we've seen in previous movies, it usually works. But Kitty's like, "Nope. I've lived with you long enough to be immune to that".
Tumblr media
And that's because she HAS been subjected to this in the past. And I bet many times more. Payback, baby. But I also love it cuz I'll take is as a testament to how much their relationship has developed. Any cat would swoon at that, seeing as how Puss IS attractive. Most of the cats he's been with we're very open about that, Kitty probably did internally fangirl a bit too (she was just subtle about it compared to Puss).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But she had indulged his ego more than enough and now she's all "fuck that, u ugly... but you're still my man"

Cheat
@jegulus-microfic Cheat Words: 1147
Summer at the Potter house was full of fun and laughter. Regulus loved that the most. He liked to sit in a little chair with a cup of tea and a book while Sirius and James yelled at each other about who was better at quidditch. Remus would sit next to him and talk about how he hated quidditch and comment on the muggle book Regulus would be reading.
But it was different today, because Regulus was asked to join in on their little quidditch match because Peter was there and Remus refused to play teams. Usually Fleamont would, but they wanted Regulus to. Regulus could never say no when both Sirius and James were asking something of him. So of course he agreed.
Regulus was put on a team with Sirius because he didn’t know Peter well enough to be teammates with him and James and Peter were practically raised together. It made it fair. Except Sirius was under the impression he should be the captain, and that frustrated Regulus. Regulus was better at quidditch than Sirius, it was a known fact.
They were doing a stupid play and Regulus knew that they would lose, but he let it fly. Of course he did. Because his favorite thing about being at the Potters was seeing everyone happy. Watching Sirius lose happily was a new thing for Regulus. But after losing four times in a row, Regulus was getting tired of losing. James was getting cocky.
Regulus needed to show James that he was better than him. Because he was. So he made a plan in his head. If Sirius wasn’t going to let him take charge of the play, then Regulus was going to have to play dirty to make goals. Because James wasn’t letting the quaffle through. But Regulus could work around that.
When the match started Regulus took off straight and caught the quaffle. Peter was actually a very good flier, Regulus thought he should be on the team. But Peter never tried out so Regulus wouldn’t push the boy. He didn’t want more competition for Slytherin.
Regulus flew at the goals dodging Peter until Sirius could distract the boy. When Peter was off of him, Regulus set his plan into action. He got ready to throw the quaffe and James got ready to block it.
I’ve never noticed how hot you look on a broom, I wonder if you could ride me that well,” Regulus commented looking directly at James with a quirked eyebrow.
James fumbled on his broom and Regulus through the quaffle, earning the first point of their match. Regulus smirked at James before flying over to Sirius to continue the game. James still seemed very distracted when Sirius made the next goal. Regulus couldn’t help but feel pride from that. Maybe it was the Slytherin in him, but he was quite enjoying this.
“James! Get your head in the game! What are you doing?” Peter called watching James stutter in his flying when Regulus winked at him.
“Sorry, guess I’m just distracted!” James called back.
Regulus got a hold of the quaffle and began flying to the goal, where peter was now blocking the rings. James was on him in a second. Sirius was getting into a position for Regulus to throw the quaffle so he could make a goal.
“I think I was wrong before, I don’t want you to ride me. I think I want to ride you. The buff chaser arms are doing something for me, if you catch my drift,” Regulus teased before throwing the quaffle at Sirius.
“I- you could,” James muttered weakly.
“Jamie, I could do whatever I wanted with you and you would thank me,” Regulus flirted flying a bit closer to James.
“Yes,” James nodded.
Regulus laughed and flew back to the center of the field, because Sirius just scored a goal.
Sirius was confused by the turn around of the game. Regulus could tell because he kept shooting concerned glances at James, who was struggling to not fall of his broom as he flew past Regulus.
“Should we call it? James seems kinda out of it,” Sirius asked.
“We’re winning though?” Regulus responded.
“Well yes, but I don’t want to keep playing if James could get hurt. I’m worried. He was kicking our asses not even thirty minutes ago. What happened?” Sirius muttered more to himself than to Regulus.
“I may have said something to him,” Regulus offered, with no explanation.
“What did you say?” Sirius demanded, flying close to Regulus.
“You don’t wanna know,” Regulus answered honestly. Because his big brother definitely did not want to know that he had been flirting with his best friend. Definitely didn’t want to know that Regulus meant it.
“Why not? Was it cruel? I though you were changing? What is wrong with you? Just so you could win-” Sirius rambled.
“No! It was not cruel. For your information I told him that I would like to ride his dick because he has sexy chaser arms. I didn’t think my big brother would want to hear that,” Regulus interrupted.
“WHAT? WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?” Sirius exclaimed.
“It was true and now we’re winning. He won’t fall of his broom. Lets win so he might actually let me do it,” Regulus said then flew to the center of the pitch.
Sirius grumbled as he followed but didn’t stop the match. He even let Regulus fly right up to James in the match. Maybe Sirius actually did want to win. Because he was actively letting Regulus flirt with James, Sirius’ best friend of all time.
“You have a very kissable face. And neck. And everything. I think I could just eat you. Would that be okay Jamie? Could I eat you?” Regulus asked about to throw the quaffle.
“YOU ARE SUCH A CHEATER!” Peter exclaimed from behind Regulus.
“Whatever do you mean, Pettigrew? Me? I would never cheat!” Regulus exclaimed lamely.
“You so are! You can’t flirt with the competition! That is against the rules! That’s why we’re losing,” Peter retorted.
“Oh but Jamie doesn’t mind. Do you Jamie?” Regulus turned to James, fluttering his eyelashes as slowly and innocently as he could.
“Well it depends, did you mean it?” James inquired.
“Of course I did. In fact I was hoping we could make good on the plans at the end of this match,” Regulus answered.
“Yeah no complaints from me,” James nodded eagerly to Peter.
“This is unbelievable! I hate you guys! This is why Remus doesn’t like to play!” Peter exclaimed.
“I actually think Remus would love flirty quidditch,” Sirius commented.
Regulus flew close to James and smirked at him, knowing he was going to win this game because James was a flustered mess without Regulus saying anything.
He would win even more after the game too.
Sometimes cheating was actually a good thing.

i love how they both addressed that abuse tends to circulate as this fucking evil awful horrible cycle that only ends when people chose to break the train while also making it clear airi was a fucking revolting disgusting person who tries to justify what she does instead of breaking that cycle who can only whine and cry when a kid who isn't even 14 calls her out on it

I have the general rule that I just, don't let myself give a shit about other people's dumbass opinions but I have one pet peeve that I just. Can Not let go of. and it's posts that go
How to write [Minority Group]!
Step 1: Make sure all your characters are exactly like me the op, or are exactly what I like to see in media.
Aside: Anything else is impossible, unrealistic, bigoted and you'll go to hell forever.
Step 2: They also have to use the exact language I do to describe themselves btw, no matter the time period or setting. See the above aside for further explanation.
Step 3: you should never ever even think about the actual mechanics of what makes a trope problematic in its impact in the real world. J ust memorize this list of things that should be banned in all fiction (for being problematic because I don't like them/someone else I agree with said they should be banned)
Step 4: Nuances in identity don't exist <3
