Your Intersex Awareness Day reminders that:
- Micropenis jokes are intersexist and not funny
- Intersex genital mutilation (IGM) is still allowed in nearly every country
- AFAB TransFem, AMAB TransMasc, Cis Trans, and Cis Non-binary are important terms for many Intersex folks
Include Intersex folks in your activism.

it's not intersexist to acknowledge that intersexness can result from a health condition or be related to one. intersex is an umbrella term for a variety of experiences, including ones involving disability, and it's okay and important to admit that. we don't gain anything by throwing intersex people who experience complications from their variation/related condition under the bus.
but even beyond that, we don't have to separate ourselves from disability in order to prove we deserve human rights. our variations being linked to chronic illness wouldn't mean that all the medical abuse towards us is founded. disabled and intersex people all have a right to bodily autonomy and proper healthcare that needs to be upheld.
even if our sex nonconformity were somehow universally an illness, intersex and disabled people have a right to exist. just as much as abled and dyadic people do. there is no "proving" that we have human rights - that is something we all inherently have.

Being intersex and trans is so funny because doctors will offer you hormones unprompted and when you go "um well actually I can I have the other ones?" suddenly you have to go to three different specialists and consult a seer to get treatment.

If you're visiting family for Easter, and they won't respect your gender, remind them that Jesus's chromosomes are canonically XX, as he inherited all of his human DNA from Mary.
Unless of course they think that Mary was actually a child-bearing XY cis woman, which is also a delightful and realistic possibility. So either Jesus is Trans or Mary is Intersex.
Or it could also be both!
Happy Easter Day of Trans Visibility!

intersex people are just as fucked over as trans people are when transphobia comes into play, and failing to address this is actively harming our community. when we only pretend that there is a social problem with using binary terminology and not an erasure of an entire group of people, of an identity, of a status, is a failure. when we say "silly transphobes! no one is mutilating babies' genitals" when intersex babies are constantly having their genitals surgically modified without their consent is a failure. when we don't acknowledge there are ways to being trans outside of AFAB/AMAB -> other gender, that is a failure. when we believe AFAB ="person who primarily produces estrogen and has ovaries" and AMAB = "person who primarily produces testosterone and has testies" that is a failure.
intersex people are not puppets we get to use as our mouth piece. intersex people are not a bullet point in a list of arguments against transphobes. they are part of our community, their rights are our rights, and we need to be fighting next to them. if your transgender activism doesn't include intersex people, you will inevitably serve to the same binary we are trying to deconstruct.

Intersex Rights are human rights.
Intersex people should always have the final (and imo only) say in what happens to their bodies
so long as their life is not seriously impacted (ie. if they can still use the bathroom without issues) then i believe it should be illegal to perform surgery on intersex people (including children) without their consent.
Caring about the aesthetics of a person’s genitalia (esp if that person is a child) is frankly weird and gross.
If i had a child and they were intersex, my only concerns and questions for doctors would be:
1) will they be able to use the bathroom on their own without issue
2) when they eventually reach puberty, what sort of changes should we expect their body to start making, so that i can communicate that to them and start hormone blockers and/or hormone replacement therapy to guide their body’s development in the ways my child wants.
Intersex people you are beautiful i love you. you are not broken or weird or freaks or gross. intersex people please let me know if there is anything i forgot to add to this post <3

Interpunk / Inter Punk / Intersex Punk
A punk sub-label dedicated to fighting for intersex liberation. Interpunks actively fight against surgeries on intersex children, discrimination against intersex people in sports, misrepresentation, erasure, and fetishization of intersex people in society, and all other forms of intersexism.
This label is inclusive of all intersex traits and conditions, including PCOS and other stigmatized conditions. It is staunchly against "trans!ntersex" and the idea of perisex people "transitioning to become intersex" entirely (not altersex, altersex is fine. It's all about the language).
Interpunks will always call out intersexism when they see it and uplift intersex voices. Above all, interpunks fight for intersex liberation, rights, and voices to be heard.
The color meanings are as follows:
Purple - The diversity of intersex traits and the community
Light purple - Disabled intersex people
Yellow - Pride in being intersex
Pink - Intersex POC
Blue - Queer intersex people
More flag variations + blank under the cut

that textpost by that radfem being all "ough sex isn't a spectrum, humans are either male or female no inbetween, just like humans have 2 kidneys and that is just biological reality" still makes me laugh
How's this for biological reality: humans actually develop 3 separate kidney systems as embryos, only one of which is usually retained post birth
kidneys are one of the most variable organs in the entire human body, you can have one or three, without ever knowing it
blood supply to the kidneys is so variable that most textbooks even show you different common types
your kidneys can be just below the bottom ribs, as most textbooks will show, or they can get stuck in the pelvis and just. stay there
all of these are not necessarily disordered, and pretty common
"humans have two kidneys" is a statistical average and gross oversimplification which ignores the biological reality of many millions of people
likewise, "humans are either male or female" is a statisticial average and gross oversimplification which ignores the biological reality of many millions of people
anyway, respect that intersex people exist and that biological sex is a spectrum, or catch my fucking hands. not even touching trans or nonbinary in this post

Revisited a story that was very important to me as a child, and learned about the author being very vocal about the harm gender roles & stereotypes cause. I thought "oh that's great!" but was afraid. What if she only applied that logic to cis ppl?
I did some searching, and found out that not only does she support trans ppl, but has also spoken multiple times about how important it is to be able to see protagonists outside of the perceived norm. A.K.A., she doesn't see my very existence as wrong.
I let out a deep sigh of relief. I could continue to enjoy this thing that had been so important to me growing up.
But this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Too often I discover a new artist, or even be unsure of one I've enjoyed the work of for a long time up to the present; and I have to desperately search to know if I can enjoy their work. Either I am extremely relieved, or absolutely crushed.
This shouldn't be necessary. I shouldn't be feeling this deep fear that something so important to me, was created by someone who despises my very existence. That I, as a disabled queer femme ex-mormon Pagan witch who was raised like a girl, will be shoved off the emotional cliff of "this person you looked up to hates you for the same reason all bigots do".
I was so terrified that something that meant so much to me as a kid could've shattered me emotionally. Simply because I didn't know if the person who made it hates people like me.
We shouldn't have to live like this.
